Whumptober Day 12 - Hunter's Moon (JJBA Vampire Hunter AU)

More Vampire Hunter AU for today's @whumptober fic! This one can be read by itself, but if you are following the series, there will be spoilers for anyone who has not read through "Humanity and Eternity"

Bucciarati and Abbacchio decide to go on an easy hunt to ease into Bucciarati's new vampiric condition, however, their quarry proves more dangerous than they thought, leaving Bucciarati gravely injured, and Abbacchio with a choice to make.

Excerpt:

Bruno was shivering violently by the time Abbacchio finished cleaning up, washing blood off his hands. He moved Bruno away from the wet hay and tried to make him comfortable, helping him put his shirt back on to offer a little extra warmth.

"Are you cold?" he asked lamely.

"Mm," Bruno murmured. "Seem to be."

Abbacchio pressed his lips together firmly, and took his own coat off, wrapping it around the other Hunter who glanced up at him gratefully, huddling under the warmed garment.

"I doubt I'm really…going anywhere," Bruno murmured. "So…if you want to chance it alone…you can go. I'll be fine."

Leone glanced down at him skeptically, pressing the back of his hand against Bruno's forehead and finding it extremely clammy. "You really are cold," he said in surprise and sat down next to Bruno, pulling him in against his side in an attempt to share his own body heat. Bruno grunted in protest at the jostling, but huddled closer appreciatively.

"There's no point in running into the woods for it," Abbacchio muttered. "It knows better where it's going in there. "We'll wait to see if it comes out again tonight and then shoot it."

Bruno sighed, opening his eyes to look up at him. "I'm sorry, I should have been more careful."

"It surprised you, we should have stuck together."

Bruno tensed briefly as a wave of pain went through him before he said tiredly, "I'm still…I'm trying to find the happy medium between knowing I'm physically stronger now, and actually utilizing that in a way that I am not continuously throwing myself into harm's way."

"Oh, so it took you until you become a damn vampire to figure that one out?" Abbacchio asked, not without a little exasperation.

"I suppose that is what got me into this situation in the first place," he replied, then let out a soft moan, curling further into himself. "God."

Leone watched helplessly as the injured Hunter shuddered in pain, breathing through his nose as cold sweat beaded on his brow.

"How bad?" Abbacchio asked quietly.

Bruno let out a shuddering exhale. "Feels like…'m still being ripped…apart." He swallowed hard, eyes squeezed shut as he curled further into himself, heavy against Abbacchio's side.

Leone hesitated slightly before he reached out to rub Bruno's back, trying to soothe, but he knew the other man had to be in a hell of a lot of pain right now.

And he wasn't going to get better this way either. He wouldn't be able to heal himself when he was already so weak. Which…left a question Abbacchio really didn't want to think about, but it needed to be addressed all the same.

"You need blood, don't you?" he finally asked.

Bruno let out a wry, helpless laugh. "It would help. It's hard…to think of that still." He cringed, swallowing down another whimper as he pressed his face into Abbacchio's side. "Blood should help me heal faster though."

"You know you shouldn't feel bad to ask for it," Leone said, though he couldn't keep the discomfort out of his voice. The thought that Bucciarati literally needed to drink blood to survive was still a lot for him to grasp. But he was sure that it was even worse for Bruno so he tried not to let it show.

Bruno looked up at him, red eyes clouded with pain. That was still the hardest thing for Abbacchio to get used to. The fact that he would never see his friend's blue eyes again, evoking so much emotion, either compassion or steely anger. But maybe all of that was still there. He just…didn't like to spend a long time searching.

"I think the farmer might owe us a sheep for our trouble." Bruno replied with a light chuckle that turned into a cringe. "We could say…the dog got it."

"You're going to try to wrangle a sheep in your condition?" Abbacchio asked. "Buggers kick, you know."

Bruno was silent, seeming to consider it. "I don't see another option," he said quietly.

Abbacchio felt a twist in his stomach, because the obvious answer was right in front of them. This was literally the last thing he wanted to suggest, but wasn't it kind of part of the job?

Bruno shifted to try and find a more comfortable position, a choked gasp escaping him. He pressed a shaky hand to his stomach, before pulling it away with fresh blood coating his palm. Leone's heart sank. He was still bleeding, and the more blood he lost…

He took a deep breath weighing his own discomfort against the discomfort the other man was obviously feeling. And coming to the conclusion that he was being a damned idiot. If he could offer any aid to his friend right now, then it was Leone's job to do so.

"If…" he hesitated, biting his lip briefly before he forced himself to continue. "I don't mind," he finally spat, then forced himself to clarify. "If you need to drink my blood."

I am losing me mind thinking about vanpire speedwagon and dhampir Giorno

I thinking if they met prebruno it wouldnt be too bad. Giorno would of been repressing his vampiric traits and substaining himself most off normal food and any small animal he could get his hands on. He wouldnt have the same self loathing as Jotaro but would have the mindset that he is a monster and that his monstrous traits are something to be ashamed of. Speedwagon could meet him be a positive role model, help him get access to food without shame, and other stuff like that

Post bruno On the other hand. Giorno is fully eating people no shame no hesitation. Bruno has actively encouraged Giorno that his vampiric trait are good and make him better than most people. Any guilt or shame giorno felt before meeting him has been effectively knocked out by bruno. Speedwagon would be going through it trying to teach gio his ethical vampire ways while giorno over here like, “ my capo told me i can eat who ever i want as long as i clean up after myself”

With Pre-Bruno, Speedwagon’s got the whole Teaching Him He’s Not Monstrous down to a science. As you mentioned Giorno’s got WAY less self hatred than Jotaro, so Speedwagon can jump to the “hey here are some food alternatives so you don’t have to hurt people :D” phase almost immediately. He can introduce him to the Joestars and their friends, giving him even more people he doesn’t have to hide around because they all know. It gives him a sense of belonging and kinship

As for Post-Bruno, Speedwagon can’t really make him stop because 1) this isn’t his kid nor does he have legal custody and 2) Giorno is only eating people who attack or try to kill him first so it’s TECHNICALLY self defense

He still doesn’t like it though

I’d imagine that he and Giorno have a little rivalry back and forth thing going on. Whenever Speedwagon visits these two are so indescribably petty when it comes to this. Speedwagon will slip SWF information packets all around the apartment and into Giorno’s bags and pockets when he isn’t looking, and Giorno will just. Straight up eat human parts while making direct eye contact and even offer some to Speedwagon.

And the whole time they’re both terrifyingly polite but it’s enough that the little Prey Predator part of the brain of all the surrounding humans is going NUTS

(they don’t do it when Jotaro’s around though. It’s an unspoken rule that their fighting is on pause when he’s present because they know he has issues he’s still working through and he doesn’t deserve to get caught in the crossfire)

New chapter of Humanity and Eternity up today. Giorno and Mista have an incredibly bad time, and Bruno continues on his path to denial.

Bucciarati nodded. "Thank you, signora. You've been a great help to us."

"I would say the same for you," she replied, standing up. "Let me see you out."

Abbacchio stood, and Bruno followed, tucking the papers into his coat and putting his glasses back on. They followed the nurse back out of the kitchen and down a hallway.

On their way out, another woman passed by them with a basket of blood-stained cloths, apologizing as she darted quickly outside.

A sudden sound of pain came from Bruno and Abbacchio glanced over his shoulder to see the other man sliding down the wall, one hand to his stomach, the other over his mouth.

"Bucciarati?" he demanded before the man simply collapsed, legs giving out under him.

"Signore!" the nurse cried as she and Abbacchio both rushed over to Bruno.

"What's wrong with him?" the woman asked.

"I don't know," Abbacchio answered honestly, worry gnawing at him. "He was…injured recently but I don't think that's what's wrong…"

"Loosen his collar so he can breathe," the woman said as she arranged Bruno's arms and legs straight, tucking his bunched-up cloak under his head.

Abbacchio started to loosen Bruno's cravat, but the second he pulled it free and started to roll his shirt collar down, the Hunter's hand came up and clamped around his wrist in a tight grip. Insanely tight, actually. So tight Abbacchio could feel his bones flexing under Bruno's fingers.

How the bucci gang sleep hcs

This has been in my drafts since January wtf

BRUNO BUCCIARATI + LEONE ABBACCHIO

all over the place

there is not a single time where these two have woken up in the same position they fell asleep in

like they'll fall asleep spooning, then they'll wake up with half of Bruno's limbs zipped off and Abbacchio sprawled across the bed in a position that looks uncomfortable with her foot in Bruno's face

one of Bruno's legs is probably on the floor and Abbacchio is most likely cuddling one of his arms

they're just used to it at this point

"Leone can you pass me my leg?" "m'kay"

Narancia came in to wake them up one time and screamed because Bruno zipped his head off in his sleep

Mista and Trish teased him about it for weeks

anyway i bet on my life that Bruno and Abba bring out their stands in their sleep

just randomly while they're sleeping Sticky Fingers and Moody Blues pop out

they just look at each other, then down at their users, then back to each other

they end up cuddling too (SENTIENT STANDS SUPREMACY)

it's so cute when Bruno and Abba wake up and see that their stand are cuddling

also Bruno's hair may look perfect 24/7 but in the morning it's SO. FUCKING. MESSY.

he has to immediately brush his hair so no one sees it like that

except Abbacchio

SPEAKING OF ABBACCHIO

when she wakes up her hair is also a mess

just slightly less messy

she has breakfast before she does anything else, then she immediately does her make-up

also don't be surprised if Bruno has Abbacchio's lipstick stains all over his body in the morning

it just means he sucked some girl dick last night

usually on those days Abbacchio wakes up with smudged make-up that she forgot to take off

also Abbacchio has frequent nightmares and often times wakes up in the middle of the night

she doesn't like telling anyone and calms herself down before going back to sleep

Bruno knows about it though

these guys are like the opposite of Bruno and Abba

they'll fall asleep cuddling and wake up in the exact same position

usually Fugo's the big spoon because he doesn't like being the little spoon

brings back bad memories y'know?

but anyway they sometimes also bring out their stands in their sleep

GER most of the time

it just likes to pop out to see what's happening

sometimes in the morning when Fugo wakes up, he'll roll over and see GER staring him dead in the eyes

he screams loud enough to wake everyone up

nara, mista and trish all tease him about it

"Did someone get scared~?" "SHUT UP NARANCIA! IT WAS JUST STARING ME DEAD IN THE EYES!" "Pussy lmao" "MISTA" "Nah the boys are right, you are kind of a pussy" "TRISH!"

sometimes purple haze comes out while Fugo's asleep

GER just pops out and hangs out with ph for a bit

anyway Fugo's hair is always a pain in the ass when he wakes up

as for Giorno... uh...

he looks like a younger version of shadow Dio too in the morning lmao

also Giorno bites shit in his sleep

and he's got some sharp canine teeth

the pros of being half-vampire

don't be surprised if when they wake up there's bite marks on Fugo's arms

or if Giorno's biting a pillow

if Giorno's had a stressful day he might move around in his sleep too

not much usually, but one time he ended up sleepwalking

Fugo woke up in the middle of the night and noticed that Giorno wasn't there

panic

he eventually found Giorno wandering around the garden and muttering to himself

it was really funny when Fugo snapped him out of it

then they went back to bed and Giorno bit Fugo's hand so hard it drew blood

sometimes Fugo has nightmares and Giorno has to wake him up

on more rare occasions Giorno has a nightmare and wakes up Fugo because he's trembling and shaking so much

snores

that's about it

he'll sleep in any position there is possible and he'll be comfy in all of them

he's also the deepest sleeper in the team

this guy moves around a lot too

he'll fall asleep in fetal position against the wall, then he'll wake up halfway across the room with his blanket tangled in his legs

sleepovers with him are a nightmare because not only does he snore, but this man also sleeptalks

one time Narancia and Trish were sleeping in his room and they woke up to him mumbling about how far his ass is

they recorded it in case they ever needed to blackmail him

but yeah this guy is a mess

He sleeps naked too

Balls out and everything

Unless Trish and Narancia are sleeping over

In thy case he leaves his pants on

Also on hot nights he SWEATS

This guy naturally runs warm, he gets hot during the night

Joestar Group:

Iconic himbo squad off to defeat the world's bitchiest vampire. Each of them has their own personal reason to journey and varying skills to bring to the family.

Bucci Gang:

Well all of them were outed by their family or ✨society ✨. Narancia was falsely accused of a crime, went to juvenile because of it, his father never showed any love, disowned, and he got a horrible eye disease. Well Bucci found him in the streets, took him to a proper doctor, and got his eye cured. Abbacchio was a cop that wanted to be completely pure and guided himself by justice. But the city he worked in was very corrupt, so one day he decided to take a bribe. Well the criminal who gave him the bribe was later found guilty of killing 2 people and told about how Abbacchio took a bribe from him. Abbacchio was seen as a dirty cop and was unemployed. He turned to alcohol and usually wandered the streets. Well Bucci found him, and helped him become better. Abbacchio joined his gang too. Fugo was a perfect son. He was extremely gifted and was born into a rich family. Now this may seem like the dream but his parents never showed him love. He was only treasured because of his intelligence. He was so smart, he was able to go to college at 13. Well while he was there, his professor repeatedly SA him. One day, his professor came to him, and Fugo beat the man with a encyclopedia in an act of self defense. He was disowned by his parents and lived in streets for 2 years. Bucci found him, and let him join his gang. Trish is the daughter of the most powerful mafia boss in Italy. Because of this, she was hunted down by her father and La Squada( they’re a group of gangsters that want to take down such boss). Her father hunted her down because he wanted to killed her to keep his identity a secret. Well Bucci gang protected her and is a part of it. Mista was a regular dude. Always had an optimistic look on life. So one day, he saw a woman almost getting r@ped in a car and decided to shoot the r@pists. Well in court, he was ruled a murderer and not an act of self defense. Bucci got him out and he joined his gang. Lastly, Giorno was a gangster that wanted to eradicate drugs being sold to minors. So he joined the Bucci gang. Giorno was neglected by his mother as a child and was beaten by his step dad. Bucci himself was never really loved by his father. Now the Bucci gang is essentially just Bucci trying to take care of some confused teenagers and a gothic depressed man.

I could go on for a long time, but they were all somehow rejected by society for mental health issues, classism, abuse, and saw each other's worth.
