can you do 11 and 15 for the crime boss Aelin au?
my newest obsession! of course, thank you for asking :)
11. Is there any scene you can't wait for people to react to when reading? Why?
YESSSS OMG there's a certain scene with a little bit of a plot twist that I've been plotting and planning this whole time. It won't happen for a while, but I promise it will be worth the wait. Hopefully :)
15. Do you have any unwritten scene that you think about a lot?
I think about Aelin and Rowan's meeting every single day. Like...every day. There's just something I love about the moment they come face to face when they haven't ever seen each other before and god I love creating their reactions. 😈👀😉

Paul is straight said Out Magazine:
Fans love to be teased by shirtless pictures of him, and we wish we could party in gay bars alongside him and his costars, and although he's not part of the LGBTQIA+ community, we still love to stare!.
Out Magazine said he is straight, Paul has never said it. There is no direct quote, they just presumed.
Paul has said he doesn't believe in labels and Andrew Haigh said he wouldn't call him straight. I'm not saying he is or isn't, as Paul says presumptions are dangerous.

We are all free at any time to scroll past what does not appeal or apply to us on the internet. If you don’t know how, ask an adult for help.
And this person is clearly identified in the trailer for HoH as Armie Hammer’s “ex”.
Tumblr media
We already know that the “star” of that trailer was not the original recipient of those awkward, unsexy, ESL syntax, straight out of middle school fan fiction fantasy “cannibal” DMs. The original faker owner is understandably (and publicly) angry that Discovery+ stole them from her, and had the audacity to fake them even further. And the poor thing didn’t even get an invitation to participate in this new smear campaign.
The audacity!
So what other lies is Discovery+ perpetuating in this “docu” series?

So you'd rather run the risk of supporting a liar even if It might lead to putting an innocent person in jail
better than running the risk of letting a rapist free and allow both the victim to suffer further and run the risk of other women being victimised. also the false rape rates are 2-10%, with a larger number of unreported cases, since rape is a VERY underreported crime.

Unproven allegations by a person that has been known to make false allegations, is enough for you to judge a person?
None of those allegations have any evidence to them, she didn't have the injuries that she claimed and her story didn't match witnesses accounts. Also the allegations were dropped, all of this over a decade ago.

Leia! What is your favorite thing so far about "Until Proven Guilty"?
What's been the best thing about writing it? Or an approach to the characters you like in this adaptation?
Hi! You just made my whole day 😭🥰 thank you so much
Is it too vague to say that everything about Until Proven Guilty is my favorite....yeah, it is 😂 but at the same time, everything makes me so happy except the crap engagement lol. The characters, the plots and scheming (it's not me, it's Aelin), the interactions, the crazy crack "science," and the way Aelin is 10000% unapologetic, it all makes my writer heart so happy.
I've had some truly unexpected character moments with this fic and that's been just the best! Like, I went into the idea/planning stage knowing and wanting to explore the Celaena side of Aelin--the gritty, darker, more unhinged side of her character--and even I wasn't expecting when this Aelin decided to embrace her characterization so fully. She's a little unhinged but in the best way, and it's been SO much fun exploring that side of her and working with it while still trying not to make her (too) OOC. Specifically this: I was NOT expecting to have Aelin and Aedion be anything resembling partners (my original plan had been to have Aedion working with Rowan) but my little characters got away from me and decided they were going to work together but also bicker, and that's been both a joy and a pain to write. A joy, because it makes me happy not to tear the Ashryver family apart (that's a lie, just look at Stick Season haha), and a pain, because it created a giant plot hole that I can't talk about because it would be such a huge spoiler 🫣🫣
Also, my lovely beta @house-of-galathynius has been an absolute joy to work with 💕 having her feedback and thoughts has meant everything to me and to the story. this is definitely the most complicated and heavy fanfic I've ever written, and it's also the first time I've had a beta reader, and I love everything about it.
thank you so much (again) for the ask my friend, you really did make my day

wait bestie not to be like “teach me this thing cause im too lazy to google” but like. if you don’t tip in england why are you also getting tipped? like is it a social thing that you know if you’re at a restaurant that’s nice enough then you tip? or like???
it's very much a social thing!!!! it also depends on where you go like im pretty sure if you go to more expensive places they do automatically add a service charge, but the general rule is that there's no requirement to tip and it's up to you. so at my coffee shop we had a tip jar that people would put their change into or would drop a quid into as they were leaving, and that was very normal like no one really expected to be tipped at a coffee shop (which is why i got so uppity that i saw so little of the tips bc my customer service literally contributed SO MUCH to the usually minuscule amount of tips we got). BUT because where im working now is a lot nicer, tips are expected as a SOCIAL THING. no one is gonna chase you out if you dont tip nor is it added onto your bill, but if you spend 2 hours and £100 on a meal without leaving a tip, you're gonna get SLATED by the servers. this is why we have suchhhh a big focus on customer service in england, because tips aren't always a given; they have to be earned. you look at a customer knowing full well they probably wont tip you and it's your job to leave such an impression and charm them so much that they cough up, and that's what i'm really good at because im a shameless two-faced cunt <3

manipulating a situation can obviously be very horrible, especially to twist it so that it works in your favor, but you found yourself moaning over suguru's shoulder every time he would finger you to get you to talk. this didn't happen every time, but when it did, it got messy, and not in the bad way—the way where suguru's fingers were covered in your fluid and somehow his dick was inside of you.
sometimes you had a hard time opening up about what was wrong, it was good to just keep it to yourself and internally work it out. every issue doesn't need to be shared with others, but suguru thought differently. he told you that if you were having any problems, you should come to him because he was your boyfriend and that's what he was there for, but you would get embarrassed and shut out. that's until suguru had to find a way for you to talk to him.
torture has been proven to be very effective, but that was a no-go, so he had to go for the second-best thing, overstimulation. having sex with you multiple times in a day taught him some things about your body, and one of them was that you were overly sensitive and had to have little breaks in between rounds so that you could calm down.
overstimulation wasn't for you until it was. fingering you until you couldn't take it anymore was an easy way to get you to tell him what was wrong. it was a nasty little trick he would use, but in his defense, it actually worked. that was his last resort; he had to know why you were upset, or it would drive him up a wall, so he would put you in his lap and try to ask one last time before sliding his hands in between your thighs and slowly touching you.
he thought by the fifth time he did this, you would catch on to what he was doing, but he thanked god you didn't, because the more closed off you got, the more he would have to do it and more. this was supposed to solely be to see what was wrong with you and hear you whine it out, but it got him hard. having you in his lap cuddled into his neck, sniffling from the pleasure, had his sweatpants stretching out.
"tell me what's wrong, baby, and i'll stop." his dark eyes looking into yours practically begging for you to talk to him, and when you protested, he'd slip his fingers deeper inside of you, slightly curving them so that he could touch your sweet spot and get faster.
he would lie and say that he didn't want to do that, but when he had to, his heart would race and his dick would get hard. this was still pleasuring you, so of course he was going to enjoy it, but he felt a little guilty having to do it in this circumstance, yet you never stopped him. wrapping your arms around him and whispering in his ear what was wrong in hopes he would stop, but he didn't; instead, he would fuck you right there, explaining to you how easy it was to just tell him from the start.
"see how easy that was? hm? you must like getting fucked." teasing you while giving you kisses all over your face. he only wanted the best for you, and you should just talk to him, even if you feel embarrassed about it. he was all ears for you and you alone; he didn't want to keep making you cum back to back to get you to talk to him, even if it was enjoyable.
after multiple sessions of him doing that just for you to give up, after you came once on his fingers, you just started to tell him because communication was important for you and you didn't want him to be in the dark about things, so i guess you could say manipulation was good.
... only for suguru, though.

Are the Trump indictments election interference? asked someone whose question I will take in good faith against my better judgment.
The American presidential election (November 5, 2024) is more than a year away. There is more than a whole year for these four (4) trials to occur. If candidates want to start campaigning (and have already been campaigning) year(s) in advance, that is not the American judicial system's problem. Do not let anyone tell you that "I DECLARE CAMPAIGN SO YOU CAN'T TOUCH ME" is how this works.
I welcome criminal charges of actual substance for any candidate of any party. If you have dozens of pages of carefully documented charges against any/all Democrats, please have a DA call a grand jury whenever you would like. Political parties are not sports teams to me. Justice can do what it gotta do, whether it's convenient or not.
If someone doesn't want to get pulled up on racketeering charges (RICO), they maybe shouldn’t have racketeered. Or falsified business records, or mishandled documents to the tune of 31 charges under the Espionage Act, or incited an insurrection, the latter of which, I don't know about you, but which I personally watched on TV, live, for several hours, including coverage of the Trump rally that sent crowds marching over to the Capitol. We have heard the Georgia phone call that is part of the fourth indictment. We have seen pictures of classified documents piled in a random Mar-a-Lago bathroom. I am confident that these are not frivolous accusations.
District Attorney Fani Willis was careful to state that there should be a presumption of innocence (a standard American judicial doctrine). That said, I consider (as one example), this fourth indictment to be “charges of actual substance” because she delivered a 96-page document describing the racketeering (which, ironically, WAS ITSELF ELECTION INTERFERENCE):
Tumblr media
u/code_archaeologist: The math on this is easy. For a jury to find a person guilty on a RICO charge in Georgia the prosecutor has to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that they engaged in two incidents that predicated the overarching conspiracy. The RICO charge lists 161 predicating incidents. So Fani Willis has 161 shots at each defendant, and only has to hit twice.
(I like to read r/politics.)
Fani Willis has 161 predicating incidents of conspiracy to work with. I am pretty confident that, while a defendant is innocent until proven guilty in the American justice system, these charges have some weight and deserve to be heard in court.
tl;dr if you don't want to campaign under a legal cloud, don't do crimes.
Also try not to publicly intimidate witnesses. And prosecutors. And judges.
If anyone reading this truly wondered if the substance or timing of these proceedings are warranted, sincerely, I hope laying it out like this helped.

"Defying the Default"- Skin Tones and the Presence of Black Characters
Okay, this one is going to be half lesson and half a thought experiment- it may get a bit frustrating, as conversations like this often do- but remember, discomfort is not always a bad thing! So I ask that you walk with me for this one.
It’s also interesting, because I’m going to direct this towards everyone (readers included!), but specifically towards my fanfic writers of media with no visual medium, as I’ve noticed this pattern there, and it makes up a good amount of creators on this site. Okay? Okay.
Behold! Many shades of brown!
I had to wade through a lot of colorism for this, and even this link is subtly racist in its introduction- the idea that brown is ‘unexciting’ 🙄.
Anyway, you know where I’m going with this:
"Chocolate and Coffee"
Even the link above pulled this! Writers who use this... they’re not ‘wrong’ per se but… often uninspired. It feels... Lazy. When you can tell an author has put no thought into the brown of choice, it makes Black readers feel like you believe these are the only shades of brown- that that’s all we look like. Even chocolate is more diverse (white, milk, dark, marbled, cookies and cream?) Coffee can come in numerous shades as well (light, medium, dark roast? Type of bean?)
My first direction to help with this: make it a point to know what shade that character is (whether canonically, or if you're the original creator, look at a reference and write it down) and find a name! Be consistent! Find similar browns to one another. If the canon Black character's skin color is done poorly, find something similar and use that! (I'll get more into this in the next lesson!)
Our skin colors may modify as we age, it changes over the seasons/presence in the sun, and some people even have vitiligo! But we're not gonna be “dark roast coffee” one morning and “light milk chocolate” suddenly. We're not chameleons lmao.
And you know what? That shade you choose might very well be 'coffee'! But it's not going to be because you didn't look and assumed we're all some random brown! That’s the intent showing! If we can find endless ways to describe the beauty of white/pale skin, we absolutely can for brown! Be willing to unpack why you may not believe brown to be capable of beauty, and work through unlearning that- it will show in your writing! One way is by pausing with yourself, and recognizing when you had a biased thought. Even by this, you’re learning!
Here’s where I want us to get into the thought experiment:
I want you to think about the description of characters in stories (as a whole). Challenge yourself- in the fics and stories you read, how often is anyone blatantly labeled 'White'? Read a story or fic; how long can you imagine them as not-White before it's ever clarified? Because not even 'pale' automatically implies a White person!
You know how I’ve mentioned before that 'Black people are not a monolith'? I can find you at least some examples of Black people fitting some of the common descriptions of white characters.
"Brunette with brown eyes"
Tumblr media
(Fun fact: I actually learned back in my Masters program that genetically no one has ‘black’ hair- our eyes are processing it as black, but it’s really just dark brown due to eumelanin. Regardless, if you stand us in the direct sunlight, you will see that our hair is usually just dark brown!)
"Red hair with pale skin"
Tumblr media
“‘tanned’ skin with hazel/green eyes”
Tumblr media
“blond hair" (period!)
Tumblr media
Now, I’m not saying that blond haired Black people or Black folk with albinism are overly representative of my people. What I AM saying is that it needs to not be taken for granted that a reader is automatically assuming a character is White in your piece of fiction- I can assume your character looks like anything if it's not stated! Especially if the OG source is a book or a podcast! We’re just used to assigning these features- and characters- as white until ‘proven not’! The default!
I am guilty of this too! Even still, I reread many of my works and go ‘ah, I didn’t clarify.’ And I have to work on doing better at it. This is having intent for your Black characters, but really, it’s having intent for all of them!
(This doesn't mean going “the Black man said,” the way sometimes people say “the Chinese said” (which…. Tbh we should all stop doing that anyway, it's weird and racist))
My Next Challenge:
Some people may disagree, but- Ahem:
Say BLACK!
Breathe lmao! Take the time to recognize that it's OKAY to introduce a character as Black, to say Black, it's fine! Obviously be sensitive about it, don't shove it in there to “win your diversity points”, but like… People are Black. It's not a bad word. What matters is the context in which you used it!
You don't even have to say it every single time. Really just the first, introductory sentence will do. For example:
“[Character A], a bright, young, Black girl with knotless braids to her mid back, glittering hair clips matching her bright green t-shirt, and a brilliant smile that shined against her bistre skin.”
I recognize that some might argue that by saying “bistre”, you don't need to say Black. But 1) you don't have to be Black to be brown or dark skinned, and 2) There's a social stigma behind even saying Black- of discussing race in general, because it leads to discomfort. Race (as a sociological construct) exists. When we say nothing about it, allowing Whiteness to be the default, we're still emphasizing race, however silently! If you're already doing it... Why not mention it? 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️
(here's a good clip of Ijeoma Oluo discussing the difficulty of discussing race; while I highly recommend the whole thing, the relevant clip is 4:25-5:39)
Maybe they're in the Black student organization in a lead position, maybe they're in a Black main cast of a play- it's okay to have those things in the story to help develop the idea that your Black character is actively Black! Just do your research to make sure you’re not leaning into stereotypes!
“There’s no races in my fantasy/future world!”
That’s fair! But I want to give you an example of how people will still project these identities onto your characters anyway:
No one has an explicitly stated 'race' in Avatar: The Last Airbender (afaik); they’re all divided by element culture. YET, many people were offended that a mixed-Korean actress was cast in her role in the live action- they ‘just didn’t see it’, because subconsciously they'd imagined her ‘face claims’ as WHITE, despite it never once being mentioned in the canon! (there’s also a firm sexualization and east Asian fetishization argument to be made about it, but that’s not within the scope of this particular conversation.)
Point is, if you are including humanoid characters in your fantasy stories, fine. You don't need to say ‘Black’ outright. But, that just means that you’re going to have to be even more detailed in your description. Because if I were watching a TV show and a Black actor shows up as an elf… I know what features I’m seeing! Entire protests have occurred over the casting of Black actors in a role ‘meant for a white person’; so... everyone sees it!
Conclusion
This is another reason why intention in character design and writing is important! Context clues and socialization help me understand who your character is. If it works like this for white characters, it can work like that for everyone else! You just have to know enough about me to write it in (and that's where the social and societal bias lie, because how much do you really know about me?)
A way to better understand this is reading books by Black authors (for fantasy, I would highly recommend Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko and Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi) as well as Black literary classics! Finding and reading Black fic authors in fandoms with Black characters! By learning how we describe ourselves and our skin colors, you’ll learn and practice how to appropriately describe us!
Now I can't make you do any of this! But I do want you all- writers especially- to start noticing our bias, how we may default to the experience of whiteness- and how that affects the way we write. When we have Black characters, and really any character of color, we need to start paying attention to how often their features, culture, and activities are emphasized, even for what we may consider to be 'background' details. That’s how we normalize creation and understanding, and become better at writing!
It’s just something to practice; remember, it’s the thought that counts, but the action that delivers!
In addition, if you are interested in a simple read into why approaching race is so uncomfortable as a whole, I've attached Robin DiAngelo's book here! Thank you to the PDF guru @toiletpotato for the link!
