So what i call magic in splatoon is less 'high fantasy bullshit' and more 'its all around and you don't notice it' like the post said (my example was electricity irl and how we use it rn for mundane stuff). It's all headcanon also btw but very supported by stuff from the games themself

List of stuff thats magic in splatoon in no particular order (ill go over these after): music, technology (human made especially), DNA, ink maybe?, salmonids migration, probably more but thats all i got (infodump under the cut)

SO music has been canon magic since splatoon 1 and actually its linked to the DNA part!! ,,,I probably need to explain human technology part first to understand that but it's basically all the Alterna logs basically.

Quick recap tho: the earth is fucked > some humans go live underground in giant domes all over the globe(unsure) > in one of them they devellop crystals out of molluscs like squids n octopus ability to change color based on emotions and use those to make giant LCD screens to line the dome > fast forward 2 generations of underground humans > the next gen scientists who want to go out even if thats a fucked up idea > rocket go poof n destroys the screen > the squid LCD crystals seep into the ocean n evolution happens for every creature to turn into anthros

also most impportantly the crystals retained the hopes of dreams of all of humanity down there* (important)

now fast forward 10 000 years and we find this scroll in splatoon 1

and that melody famously created a revolution by every single octarian realising they actually have free will at once (it did NOT break any kind of mind control they just lived all their live in an authoritarian society) so already we can tell theres something up with.

another time we find that melody thats important is the end credit for splatoon 3 (wave goodbye) at around the 3:00 mark

,,,now im realizing this isnt exactly what i had in mind but the first time i heard it i thought the voice had no gargling like inkfish voices n instead it was the voices of all humanitys ghosts coming together to sing that part. But if we still go with that then (my headcannon) that means that melody thats been etched into sea life DNA was actually a human anthem that was kept in the memories of the LCD crystal

Now in splatoon 3 theres a lot of magic anyway lol but idk how to even explain that (the 3 lights, lil buddy becoming a kaiju, big man making ink) so use ur imagination for that lol but its there.

other human technology that's also magic: the machine to keep judd alive that somehow made him immortal AND clone him

There's more magic hidden in the game (like however the ink from the ink tanks fuels our weapon via bluetooth and how some non-inkfish characters can somehow use ink for turf wars) but thats why i tagged sasha lol

oh yea for the salmon migration bit i'm specifically talking about the 7 rings when a big run happens. idk how to explain that so therefore its magic

aaa thank u !!! i’m glad u feel comfortable enough to talk to me, it’s always nice when ppl do (even if i might get too nervous to respond at times, i promise i appreciate it!!!)

1. a lot of what helps is having mutuals? like... i know there’s probably some discord servers you can join that a lot of authors are in (i’m personally not in any). it’s good to have other ppl you can share ideas with and it boosts morale and stuff! i have a lot of mutuals but only like,,, 3 that i actually ever talk to on a regular basis, one of whom is my girlfriend. it’s not necessary but it does help

2. a lot of my blog’s ability to get notes on my writing comes from the fact that i’ve been here for a while. you’re not gonna get a massive audience overnight in this fandom anymore, blogs don’t grow as fast as they used to, but that’s because the fandom’s kinda settled down.

3. open requests and write for a lot of characters in a single post. requests get ur audience to interact with u and writing for a lot of characters in a single post (like headcanons for kissing or something like that) will be more likely to attract attention

4. don’t put ur stuff in the wrong tags, it only serves to bother ppl, not get you extra attention !!! :)))

5. reach out to ppl first. ik i’m personally pretty shy on this site now (used to not be lol) after being here for so long, so i can’t really speak on this, but literally everyone in this fandom i’ve met is super nice and super sweet!!! most ppl are always willing to talk and if they aren’t, it’s typically because they’re shy or anxious, not because they don’t like you!!! :)))

6. write smth YOU’RE passionate about. it may not get as many notes as generic headcanons, but people can sense when you’re bursting at the seams to talk abt something. it’ll get you dedicated followers!

okay y’all strap in cause this whole thing had my entire twt tl in shambles for 4+ hours (I apologize if the ss are blurry or cropped weird, I had to put them in groups to be able to post all of them) (I’m also sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes)

1) this morning, my moots and I somehow got these ss of messages from a harrie discord. as you can tell they r pretty weird and invasive, especially for bringing up robin and treating olivia’s kids like toys

most of you don’t know who the person sending these messages, Pau, is but as someone who’s on harrie twt a lot, I can tell u that Pau is one of the most insufferable people on there

2) Pau is notorious on twt for being incredibly rude and defensive, here r some examples (these r honestly kind of funny but they were the only ss I had in my camera roll so just go w it)

She also tweeted rly weird stuff about harry and olivia

and she’s also one of the people who harassed me and said I hated harry for not wanting him in mp because I was concerned it was copaganda (this is the only ss I have from that day but trust me she quoted every tweet I made about it)

So clearly, Pau is an asshole but it only gets worse from here.

a) For a while, some harries believed that Pau was @/strawberryrainbowparadise because of the way they typed and the things they knew. That blog is run by someone named Emmie, they used to be a big larry on here. What is truly horrific about Emmie is that during her larry days, she created a fake charity to get close to Harry’s late stepfather Robin. Thru this charity, Emmie also got Harry’s email and began sending him links for her “charity” which had bots on them that tracked his location so she could cyberstalk him. You can see this in the top left and top right screenshots. Apprenlty, she also pretended to be a member of the staff at a hotel Harry was staying at in Argentina during HSLOT, which is just full on stalking. On the bottom left and bottom right, you can see confirmation for Pau and Emmie being the same person.

b) On the top left, you can see Emmie’s blog, however she stopped posting in July and had unlarried a while before that, I’m pretty sure she deleted all her larry posts. On the top right, you can see screenshots of a spreadsheet Emmie/Pau made that tracked Harry and Louis’ location on every date, she even tried proving that Louis was spending more time with Harry than his sick mother. On the very bottom (although very blurry), you can see that Emmie/Pau has a tag for nearly every single person in Harry’s (and I think Louis’ too) life, whether it be a family member or a friend

So yeah, Pau is actually Emmie (honestly who even knows who she rly is) who cyberstalked and stalked Harry, tricked Robin into befriending her, committed a crime by faking a charity, tracked Louis and Harry’s every location, and tracked all of the people in both of their lives in great detail. Somehow it gets worse.

4) There is an account on twitter called @/HarryFacts who used to just post normal content but suddenly started getting into fights w larries, louies, ot5s, zquads, and so on. Somehow we figured out that Pau ran the account and we all got pretty annoyed cause she just started random arguments and posted dumb stuff that didn’t even have anything to do w Harry. Pau pretended to leave HarryFacts so we would leave her alone for being annoying as hell and so she could just run the account in peace (just btw, she hasn’t tweeted from her main since Jan 10 and her second account was private so this is the only place she could fight publicly). Now this is where it gets weird. In this video, you can see Pau/Emmie pretending to be ANOTHER admin of HarryFacts, “Georgia”. This is literally Pau/Emmie talking about herself by as “Georgia”. The video goes pretty fast but I REALLY encourage you to scroll thru it and read every single message cause it’s crazy

hey!! if u don’t mind me asking how did u know u were aro/ace? like i’m lowkey is going “is that me” bc i don’t really get what romantic/sexual attraction is supposed to feel like ... but on the other hand what if i’m just yk not understanding my own feelings or haven’t experienced it yet or whatever idk hopefully this is phrased somewhat in a way that makes sense

I actually talked about this with some friends who were asking on my Discord about a week ago, so I hope you don’t mind me copying and pasting this discussion!

As a note: some of what I share below is personal. This is my personal life so I’ve kept it vague, and I don’t want to share details or involved parties online. You are 100% welcome to ask me more about a specific experience, but I may or may not share.

What I went through in my self-discovery doesn’t apply to everyone. We might share some experiences, we might not. 

To clarify my identity again: I’m aromantic asexual. I do not experience attraction at all, and I am culturally sex-positive/sex-neutral, and personally sex-repulsed. And I am out—my parents, family and friends, etc.

If you’d like to ask questions about these specific parts of my identity that I don’t go into detail in this post, please feel free.

(Also my identity journey went something along the lines of: straight, questioning/no label/allosexual, demisexual, asexual.) Also, sometimes on my blog casually I will describe myself as “ace” for both aro/ace or use “ace” as an interchangeable term for “aspec,” but this is not wholly accurate, it’s just the way that I sometimes use it because I am ace and I can do that.

being ace (my experience): 

Figuring out ur ace sometimes is kinda hard bc 

1) there is a spectrum 2) it's really easy to get caught up in ur own expectations/society 

because asexuality is a lack of attraction, sometimes it can be really confusing, and we end up trying to find something that’s not actually there. (or that may be there but different than what is heteronormative).

one of the main reasons i really figured it out was bc i dated someone, and i was not attracted to them romantically or sexually in any way at all. 

i didn't reciprocate the feelings even during the relationship - i tried to convince myself that it would happen but just never did, and i was uncomfortable (red flag) a lot about affection. 

my advice also is if you're thinking about romance/sex/relationship and it makes you uncomfortable/you can't picture yourself in the future (i.e. when you're older)/it happens forcefully instead of naturally that is, imo, a sign that you're aro/ace/respective aspec identity

now. i do not advise doing what i did. actually i strongly do not advise anyone to force yourself into a relationship or into any situation if you're unclear about your own wants and boundaries. most of all, listen to yourself. if something is making you uncomfortable, consider what about that experience is uncomfortable to you.

edit for clarity: obviously i didn’t know i was aroace at the time of entering that relationship, and it was not malicious intent on my end or “deception,” rather that i didn’t know myself then as well as i do now.

also to my one point (shown below) about "picking someone" tbh in hindsight i just think it's funny i have this really clear memory in elementary school where i was talking to my friend about crushes, and she asked me if i had a crush and i said no. so she asked if i had to have a crush on someone who it would be, so i was like "i guess this guy or this other guy?" basically because i thought they were funny/nice to me

also in hindsight after discovering that, here are things that i experienced that tipped me off:

 - making excuses* (i want to focus on academics, i don't want a relationship right now but maybe later, i haven’t really found someone i liked) - putting myself in a box/label to fit what other people thought (i have to like this person) - guessing about attraction (i guess if i had to be attracted to someone, i would be to this person) - repulsion/dislike* (i don't mind talking about/reading about other people's romance/sex lives, but i don't want to do it myself)

*asterisk is because like i said before, asexuality is a spectrum. and also some of these reasons are perfectly valid if you are attracted to someone! maybe you really do want to focus on academics or you don't like physical intimacy as a preference and that's valid too. edit for clarity: some aces are sex-positive and some aces are sex-repulsed. and some are neutral. 

btw, if you are aspec, you can still be attracted to people! it will just be a different experience from an allo person.

you don't have to have a label if you're unsure or if you don't want one or really any other reason, because your identity is your business and we discover new things about ourselves all the time. it’s okay if a year ago you thought you were gay but now you think you might be ace after all or vice versa, etc; that doesn’t invalidate your feelings or your experiences. there is no rush and no race.

Has it really only been a couple weeks? It feels like it has been longer than that. I can’t explain it Aaron, but something feels right about him. Like, there is something there that I didn’t even feel with the twins father. I know it’s fast, but I just have these feelings that I know I won’t be able to shake anytime soon. “Snacks prepared. Food prepared. Done with homework for the weekend. I’m all ready for Homesteading the Noosphere! Let’s do this!”, Damon thought to himself. Damon had been looking forward to the expansion since the announcement as he had burned himself out from the game by playing Elder Tale too much. It was also exciting that Erin, his best friend that moved overseas, was also going to play again. She hadn’t been feeling like playing ever since her move to Japan. They were going to level up again and start being a bit more serious in the game, which they before had treated more casually. “Well, only 8 hours to go until the expansion drops for us over here. However, Japan should have it in about an hour so let me go check in with Erin”, he mumbled to himself.

He hopped on his computer and turned it on. Went to Discord and sent Erin a message. “Sup dork, you ready?” he sent her. “>:o” was her first response. He let out a small laugh, knowing what was coming next. “first off, r00d. second, yes i’m ready give me a sec to plug in my headset”, she sent afterwards. “So… you aren’t ready? If you were you wouldn’t have to grab your headset :p” he sent back. “…dang it” was all he got back from her before she hopped into the voice channel he had set up. He put his headset on and hopped into the call as well. “Hey there!”, he said enthusiastically. “You jerk”, she responded with. “What? What did I do wrong?”, he said very obviously feigning innocence. “You called me a dork! Do you not know how rude that is?!”, she said in an offended way, but it was obvious she was joking around. “Alright alright, I won’t ever call you a dork again”, he said “Good, glad to have that clear- “, she said. “…dork”, he under his breath but hard enough so he knew she could hear it. “Ah! They went on like this for a while. At 16:17 his time or 23:17 JST, he called his other two friends, Faye and Ren. He called Faye first and she answered. “Hey Faye! Are you still coming for the expansion launch?”, he said. Faye had just woken up after having done a night shift at her job. “Wait, that’s today? What?”, she answered barely having woken up. “Yeah and in 43… nope, 42 minutes the expansion will launch in Japan! Eri and I are waiting for you”, he said. “OH SHIT, IT IS TODAY! I’ll be on in like 10-15 minutes, I’m so sorry!”, she said in a bit of a panic. “No worries no worries, take your time. See you in a bit!”, he said. “See ya!”, she said back before she hung up. Damon looked up and said “ow, my ear” under his breath. He unmuted himself on Discord for a second and said “Faye is coming, she was still asleep. Should be here in 10 to 15 minutes. Calling Ren now!” “Okay!”, Erin said, happy that Faye was coming online. Damon called Ren’s phone. Ren didn’t answer. “Weird”, Damon thought, and he called again. Again, Ren didn’t answer. Damon called a third time, still no answer. He then sent Ren a text. “Sup dude! You still coming? Expansion launches in 35 minutes-ish. Eri, Fae and I will be in Discord if you are looking for us”.

With that Damian put his phone down and put his headset back on. He unmuted himself on Discord. “I’m back”, he said a bit sad. “What’s up?”, Erin responded. “Ren didn’t pick up his phone at all. Called him 3 times, every time went to voicemail. Left him a text message in the hope he’ll come online before the expansion drops”, Damon responded. “Wait, Ren didn’t pick up the phone? As in… Ren, the one who has his phone practically glued to his side?”, Erin said questioningly. “Yeah, I found it weird as well. Well, nothing to do about it, we’ll just have to wait and see if he comes online. Hopefully, he does”, he said. “Yeah, hopefully”, Erin responded. They waited another 10 minutes for Faye to arrive. In the meantime, both Erin and Damon logged into the game. Suddenly, they heard that someone entered the Discord call. “Hi guys!”, Faye said. “Faye! I’m so happy you are here!”, Erin said. “Hey there”, Damon said. “Heh, well you can thank Damon for that. If he hadn’t called, I would’ve slept through the launch for sure”, Faye continued.

E: I guess so. Thank you, Damon. D: No worries, don’t mention it. F: Hey, where is Ren? D: I had called him a couple times, but he didn’t pick up. Shot him a text message as well. F: Hmm… weird. I guess he might be with his girlfriend. D: Wait, he got a SO again? When the heck did this happen? F: You know when his boyfriend broke up with him? D: Yes, I do remember that. F: Two days later. D: What the… F: At some point you stop questioning these things. E: You really do. D: I… I just have no words. The guy gets SOs left and right (laughs) F: Heh. What about you? Any luck finding anyone? All: (silence) F: Damon? Hello? D: What? O-oh, that was for me? I thought you were talking to Erin. F: Yeah, it was for you. Any luck finding a SO? D: U-uh… E: Ooooooh, that staff has some good stats. It’s so expensive though (a bit defeated at the end) D: O-oh, let me take a look at that Erin. F: Dodging my question. Noted. D: I-I don’t know what you are talking about. H-hey Faye, you might want to log on, expansion is dropping in like 20ish minutes. F: Oh, right. Let me go do that. We’ll talk about that more later (sinister undertone) D: Y-yeah, sure. E: Hmm? I’m sorry, I kind of spaced out, what were you two talking about? D: Not- F: Nothing important, don’t worry about it. E: Okay, if you say so Faye!

This went on. With Faye now also logged in, there the three of them were. Damon’s character: Duran, the level 51 Dwarf Templar. Erin’s character: Gaia, the level 54 Elf Cleric. Faye’s character: StarrySky, the level 56 Human Swashbuckler. They went to grab some stuff from the various stores and such to prepare a bit for expansion drop. Then they went to take a screenshot of them all together about 3 minutes before the patch dropped. They took it in front of one of the buildings in Akihabara. Then the final countdown began.

E: Ah! I’m so excited! D: Same here, can’t wait to get my hands on the new stuff! F: It’s definitely going to be quite big and it won’t be for a bit until we can really dive in as well, but it will be fun when we do get to! E&D: Yeah! D: Oh, countdown is starting! EDF: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! W-what?

i tend to ramble so i’m gonna try to keep it short...ish.. and sweet...ish. hehe 

the WINDHAM-CAHILL family

andi was born to a bit of a tumultuous household. her mother is a renowned actress from the windham family-- think a dash of kennedy and a hint of the roberts, with old money going back generations on the east coast and a few well-known hollywood elites with accolades out west. 

her mother had developed a bit of a substance abuse problem, and was inconsistently present in her daugher’s life, always choosing to travel or hand andi off to the nanny or her father instead. when she was around, she was often interested in material things and shallow aspects of her daughter’s life– her clothes, her looks, her popularity– and was hardly satisfied with andi, always reminding her of where she came from and what she needed to be. 

her father, a wealthy self-made financier, is kind and well meaning, but unequipped to handle his wife’s issues oftentimes. the pair got into shouting matches and fights over her substance abuse issues and  and frequent absences often enough. regardless, andi is very devoted to her father, fiercely defensive of him in any family argument, and close with him, seeing him as a rock amidst the instability of her mother. 

she’s the eldest of three, with two younger brothers. she’s very protective of them as well, but as the only daughter, andi usually took the brunt of her mother’s nitpicking, perfectionistic projections and arguments. although easygoing, when continually faced with conflict, andi would at times fight back with her mother. part of her despises her mother, part of her still desperately wants to be good enough to finally get that mark of approval and hear “i’m proud of you.”

on the surface of course everything looked lovely: the beautiful, shining oscar-winning elizabeth windham, the american dream success story andrew cahill, and three children with talent and poise. andrew himself attended bellecotte for undergrad, and andi is proud to follow in his footsteps, although her father was a member of the house of zeus. 

personal HISTORY

feeling the pressure from her mother and the increased attention due to her family name and fame, andi always felt like she was the kind of student that had to “do it all” in high school. so she tried. she took the AP classes, sat on student council, went to football games and every party and was even prom queen. 

she has ADHD, so using adderall was first nature to her and doesn’t affect her the way it affects others, but after long days of going, going, going and feeling stress and pressure and having to do it all on all sides, she started using xanax and smoking weed often to chill out and deal with it all, and on the weekends you could find her drinking straight liquor straight-faced in between puffs off her pipe at house parties. 

still, she managed to keep it together enough to get into bellecotte, where she’s kept up much the same-- her struggles with xanax and other benzos in particular ebbing and flowing with how stressed and anxious and burnt out she is, and whatever she’s going through. she doesn’t hide her frequent marijuana use really-- always taking hits off of her dab pen, she’s quite a functional high after so many years.

studying political science because it interests her, and because she knows she’s ultimately lucky enough to have opportunities presented to her because of her parents’ careers, and wants to learn how to create and advocate for a more equitable system for those less fortunate. her father, as he’s self made, often took her back to his hometown and showed her how he grew up, so she knows it doesn’t all just come for free. unsure what exactly she wants to do post grad, whether that’s politics, film, writing, business-- but she’s interested in a lot of things. 

PERSONALITY

the GOOD: creative, determined, altruistic, passionate, insightful, protective 

the BAD: reticent, moody/sensitive at heart, prone to burn-out, possessive

has a tendency to hold grudges when hurt, desperately wants to be enough for someone to stay, really wants to be needed and loved for who she is instead of what she does or her name or anything else. 

an introvert that’s very good at extroverting, although it can exhaust her and by the end of the party she’s always found somewhere quiet to smoke and sneak off to. 

is the kind to be casually smoking a joint and then make a point about how the misconceptions of the aztec empire upon the arrival of white settlers were overblown and eventually grew into contributing to the general ethnocentric/westernized perspective of native american peoples being savages and uncivilized, right? god. and then laugh and go back to watching whatever’s on tv

a Flirt. u know it now. has always had lots of Boy things happening and tends to get herself into lots of messy shit in that arena. hookups, exes, boyfriends, fwbs, etc– handles it and talks about it with self depricating humor. part of it goes back to that kind of low self value she has deep down since she’s afraid she’s not enough for who she is, just good for the relationships she has and what she can give other people and such. 

tends to keep her sensitivity/insecurities to herself. copes with them by forcing herself to extrovert  harder and going out more and keeping herself busy. like i mentioned, she’s struggled with substance abuse to some extent since high school– drinking, smoking, dipping into some prescription pills to help with her grades, or her anxiety, or any number of things. you might suspect it if you’re very observant, but probably not- it’s usually hidden by a shimmering smile, the glint of a cartier love necklace, and a tight outfit with a warm “CHEEERS.” 

this is one thing she’ll get defensive about and deflect from, btw. she doesn’t want to acknowledge it because acknowledging it means she has another problem to deal with and it feels like she’s been dealing with this shit forever.

sarcastic, but not mean unless she’s comfortable with someone, in which case it’s a teasing-kind of sarcasm-mean. laid back– just as comfortable wandering around target for two hours, kind of high, as she is at a night club with a crowd of friends and expensive bottle service. definitely more adventurous when she’s a little drunk or high. very typical to find her on the roof watching the sunset and smoking a joint while writing or listening to music or just being there with someone. 

can be self-sacrificing, self-deprecating, will martyr herself, burn herself out, and become possessive and demanding at times in stress. she’s an enneagram type 2 if that helps u understand hehe.

The Dracula- taken. so hey i’ll be playing The Dracula! I’m still working out how old he is but he’s probably gunna be old old to keep with the #aesthetic of the character (also i wanna have it so that he’s still oblivious to some more 80s day things & he’s that weirdo who dresses in old clothing when not in public). Think between 1800 and 2000 y/o old xD;;; anyway so backstory is still obv. In Progress but really he was probably stupid and got himself turned into a vampire ‘cause he was a gullible fuck & now has to suffer with the consequences -this includes adapting to having pointy sharp teeth, feeding on the living in order to survive, and outliving everyone that u have ever loved :’D he’s totes fine w/ this guys it’s fine. he pretty much struggled for ages & while he likes to exaggerate/romanticize what happened to him it was pretty terrible™ & he has plenty of a fuck up under his belt. over time he got to know other folks + vampires & he adapted but not enough? like he’ll quote you some fancy-ass poem to be elegant~ and he has a pity party every 5 seconds & gets pissy when no one pays attention to him he’s just needlessly #dramatic

somehow, he pissed off a family of vampire hunters who have been going after him ever since??? i haven’t plotted out when this began so it’s open as of rn lololol & it’s The Abraham Van Helsing who is now in charge of hunting him down~ (more info, or rather just ideas, in The Abraham Van Helsing character section)

& now here comes the more complicated section tbh: so i haven’t planned out when this happened yet -i’m torn between sometime just before/after he was turned into a vampire or during WWI big range i know- but he fell in love w/ a man & that man died tragically so he decided to try to be w/ the guy’s kid only for them to die too at some point but not before they had a kid (might be bad luck? might be a curse? who knows *shrug.gif*) so yeah fast forward MANY YEARS & now he’s trying to be with The Mina Harker who is the last(?) possible descendant of his first love. rn they’ve been best friends for 6 yrs w/o The Mina Harker knowing A. that The Dracula is in fact a vampire, B. that he is the descendant of the first man The Dracula loved, & C. that The Dracula is, in fact, in love with him -he just thinks he’s a rad and weird best friend who does weird stuff at weird times of the day. SO YEH that’s his awkward life he’s just trying to be w/ the love of his life piss off other vampires/hunters/supernatural creatures/world pls & ty

he’s also super weird ‘cause he doesn’t wanna turn any of the descendants into vampires??? which makes each death more painful ‘cause he has a code or w/e & it’s becoming more & more tempting w/ each descendant so yaaay for drama~

also! he has a few roommates & there might be a documentary being made about them which is detailed in Part II. of this ad~

The Mina Harker- open. as listed in The Dracula section The Mina Harker is the descendant of the first man The Dracula loved & The Dracula has been pinning for him for the past 6-ish yrs. rn they’re the best of friends & The Mina Harker thinks The Dracula is a totally good guy -he’s a mostly™ good guy *cough*- & super cool but also super odd but he likes him a lot anyway as a best friend lololol. as for the descendants of the first guy honestly that’s pretty open (like The Dracula pretty much loved every guy after that BUT if there was only a female descendant at the time he loved them too even if they weren’t his technical preference ‘cause love > all) but they pretty much died in bad ways??? like it could be mundane bad ways like illness or war or it could be off-the-walls weird like being crushed by an elephant or getting struck by lightning five times idk idk whether it’s just Bad Luck on The Dracula’s part or a curse is open so yeh lmao.

ANYWAY so for personality i was thinking that this descendant is more on the quiet/introverted side??? like he’s super nice to ppl and wants to help but confrontation??? big groups??? talking to ppl a lot??? not his forte he is an awkward bby. while The Dracula & he aren’t exactly the same personality-wise they get along absolutely great which probably is even more tough for The Dracula ‘cause??? he loves him??? & has to protect him from all of the other vampires who probably wanna eat him??? like pls no he wants this guy to live leave him alone *sobs*

there’ll probably be ppl to try to stop The Dracula from pursuing his dreams maybe because they’re dicks but actually probably because The Dracula is a dick & he has a few skeletons in his closet (he dresses them up in costumes for Halloween & nobody's the wiser, except for his roommates ofc) but it’ll just be random and confusing to The Mina Harker ‘cause, yeh, who would hate his bestie???

besides being best friends w/ The Dracula for about 6 yrs, being engaged to The Jonathan Harker (for w/e reason is up to u tho it could be funny that he wanted to fulfill some wish/will that a dying relative had aka them trying to fuck over The Dracula), not knowing that The Dracula is a vampire despite possible signs + ppl maybe hinting/telling him, & woops having no kids of his own & he’s what thirty or forty-something that’s a nail-biter for The Dracula for sure everything about the character’s past is open!

okay so final lame part but i’d absolutely LOVE it if you used Michael Fassbender as the fc ‘cause I <3 him a million times BUT if you really don’t want 2 you don’t have 2 i won’t force u into that decision if you like the idea but wanna use someone else~

The Jonathan Harker- open. an idea i had for this one is that, for whatever reason, she’s engaged to The Mina Harker character & they’re pretty much complete opposites. she’s a nice girl but she just… is too active. a pure extrovert by nature, she’s always going to parties and socializing and dragging The Mina Harker along with her. she loves him with all of her heart it seems though it appears as if she really doesn’t listen to her fiance & enjoys the concept of him rather than who he is actually. The Dracula is pissed off about this and has contemplated her death approximately fifty five times now. probably calls her vapid or w/e while he’s on his pity party couch (yes that’s a thing don’t judge) rofl

The Abraham Van Helsing- open. the idea i have for him is that he is the descendant of the family who have vowed to hunt down The Dracula. kind of awkward because The Dracula just wants to be left the fuck alone (and okay maybe he wants to kill a few peasants in peace but he can’t seem to get what he wants, can he?) but overall the tone is that this guy hates The Dracula. however, times have changed a bit and nowadays he just confronts The Dracula, declares his hatred for the man, and then pretty much just resumes his day. maybe puts garlic in the doorway to a place in order to disrupt The Dracula, switches out regular spoons for silver ones, etc. etc. etc. (honestly, on occasion, he more brings up the fact that The Dracula is in love with a man rather than being a blood-sucking vampire which makes The Dracula go :/. ALSO PLOT POINT if u wanna go this direction but mb actually the reason The Abraham Van Helsing keeps going on about this is because he's trying to push The Dracula away and has feelings for The Mina Harker??? idk idk late-night ideas flooding in here lmao). overall, he just acts like a prick to The Dracula tho The Dracula probably deserves it lololol. it doesn’t help that they live in the same building, which typically causes The Abraham Van Helsing to be locked out on stormy evenings while The Dracula bemoans whatever fate he thinks up at the time on the couch near the entrance.

soooo for this part the concept is fairly simple: i wanna have a What We Do In The Shadows sort of plot where my character has a few roommates (preferably 3-5 though the number isn’t in stone yet) and they’re all weird af. not only that but potentially??? they have a documentary being made about them -w/ 80s London aesthetics + technology- due to vampires revealing themselves 2 years prior. it’s still in production which means there’s at least one cameraman around at all times. my character is dreading the time when it’ll be showed on TV because he has been trying to hide the fact that he is a vampire (alright really only to his love interest & best friend he dgaf if anyone else knows). like, think: he enters one of the rooms, minding his own business, & while the camera is technically focused on something else you still see him as he tries to walk backwards as inconspicuous as possible. he can’t deny that he loves the attention, though, so there are points/gunna be points where he’s more featured and may “subtly” try to push aside whichever roommate is around in order to be noticed.

he may or may not threaten the others with death and doom on a daily basis as well over the smallest of things -at this point his roommates know he’s full of shit, tho the crew might not woopsie

ALSO, there's (1) amulet to walk in the sun among all of them (probably his but idk lol) so everyone is always fighting over it rofl he is not happy that he can't be normalish all the time. they probably try to be all fancy but really they're doing rock-paper-scissors or tossing a coin. plans are ruined all the time, ppl are pissed off, good times.

there won’t be any technical ‘inspirations’ for any of the spots from the movie but honestly if ya wanna base your character on one of the wacky vampires go right ahead! everything about the roommates are open & while i prefer them to be vampires due to the aforementioned info but if you have an idea for another species (besides human) lemme know!

hi! i was wondering, do u perhaps have any tips on what to pay attention to when applying for a zine instead of making one?

I actually planned to cover that a bit during a later post in the series where I also wanted to talk a bit about zine etiquette for contributors, but I definitely can give you some pointers already (also I love to procrastinate, soooooo this ask is more than welcome haha)

THIS GOT REALLY OUT OF HAND SO THERE’S A READ MORE NOW ^^;

First of all, find a zine for something that you actually feel passionate enough about so that you want to create for it. You don’t want to create something for something you actually hate. Zines are supposed to be fandom fun with this feeling of professionalism, not something you absolutely need to drag yourself to work on.

I also wouldn’t apply to too many at once, especially with similar/overlapping schedules. 2-3 is reasonable if you have a life outside of the arts, like a job or school, but if you’ve got both going on, maybe reduce it to a max. of 2 at a time. If you’re basically freelancing and the zines would be your next projects, apply to as many as you actually know you can handle. Always assume you get into all of them, and plan accordingly. If you don’t get in - more time for other stuff. But especially from the perspective of a zine mod, don’t take on too many if you can’t handle it.

Always, always, ALWAYS pay attention to the zine’s schedule. Check before you even open the tab for the application that you actually got time for the zine. Always be as pessimistic as possible (but still realistically so) because you never know when you’ll be in an art/writing block. If especially final drafts are due around major deadlines from school/uni/anything else important to your life, do yourself a favour and opt out of this zine. You’ll be endlessly stressed and the mods don’t know what to do with you.If you decide on applying to the zine and got in, write down all deadlines in your calendar of choice (I actually have two different calendars so I mark that in both), and if you know yourself as that person who is really forgetful about deadlines, please do everyone a favour and put yourself reminders on what works best for you (alarms, countdowns, reminders via phone, sticky notes in your room, etc.)

Check if you meet all of the zine applicant’s requirements, and if not all, can you work on them so you fit in time before applications close? It’s not worth getting your hopes up if you end up not even being able to participate because they look for certain people.

I would also always check out the zine’s mods/admins and what kind of reputation they have. If they aren’t publicly mentioned anywhere on the zine’s blog/whathaveyou, I would rather evade the zine.Same goes for any weird feeling you get, be it through the language they use (e.g. unprofessional tonality like My Immortal/2000s chat language seems like the mods don’t take it seriously enough unless it is actually the zine’s theme, the use of slurs or inappropriate/rude statements), or appearance of the blog/twitter account, … I personally also would steer around people who are self-acclaimed “antis” even if they support your OTP, this still can get ugly as the atmosphere might be tense/not very welcoming, or even downright hostile.Remember that if you participate, you will be associated with the zine and the zine with you.If it is not a free downloadable zine, what happens with the earned money? If they don’t state anything about it, it really looks shady. Same goes for a claimed Charity Zine where you can’t access any information to which organisation(s) they want to donate.

Here and here are some other really prominent red flags of how to spot possible scammers.

If you are just starting out with zines, it might be wise to rather look for smaller ones and see what comes out of it. An all-applicants-get-in zine is hard to find nowadays I believe, but is still a good opportunity to just get to know deadlines with creative works in a larger project.

Always tell in advance that you (possibly) can’t make a deadline if you got into a zine. Running after people 24/7 is exhausting and annoying and definitely triggers the will to strangle someone much more than you sending a small e-mail with “I’m sorry but I can’t make the deadline because [I’m sick/my dog died/my exams are more stressful than expected/I have to cover for a coworker/we have a big family celebration/…], can I please get an extension (of XX days)?” - please for God’s sake don’t be embarrassed or even scared to tell such things, it happens but it’s always better to know such things a few days or even a day in advance instead of … a week after the deadline actually was supposed to happen. I promise you, bascially all of the mods are very understanding and definitely will help you figure out a solution.

Be kind to other participants and try to get to know them a little better. Fan projects are such a great way to make new friends and actually find people to collaborate with as well, additionally everyone benefits from a good atmosphere on the team. The great thing about most zines having discord channels nowadays is that you can actually communicate with other participants instead of mainly just the mods. Also, if you happen to check out the other contributors you might find several hidden gems of artists/writers!

A bit on portfolios:

Depending a bit on the zine, it always is better for you to have a small compilation of fanworks that actually deal with the zine’s characters/the source material, even if it’s just a more detailed/polished sketch or a slightly longer drabble (between 500 and 1000 words). If it isn’t already required in the application form, it at least shows interest in the source material and the zine itself.

As an artist, have actually polished pieces with (preferrably full-body) characters and real backgrounds (physically interacting characters are always great btw). Think about what you enjoy about zine pieces yourself - you usually don’t discover everything at the first sight, or they just downright awe you so it’s actually worth it to look through the zine once more. Show pieces that are of the same quality because you want to get into a zine. If you apply as a merch artist, also have at least one or two pieces that show a style suited for the merch you apply for.

As a writer, it is good to have at least one solid one-shot between 1-5k words. Mods want to know how you deal with the rather small wordcount that is typical for zines. I really would recommend especially writers to have at least one piece from the source material the zine’s about.

Also, I wouldn’t include anything that is older than max. 3 years, however good and awesome it is. Whether you are an artist or a writer, I will guarantee you that you won’t create works the same way as you did back then. At some point, it’s just dated and you’ll have to say goodbye for good.Mods want to know what they can expect from your zine piece, so it’s also better to have a good average than an outstanding outlier that you are highly unlikely to ever recreate. Show what you usually do with a little bit of extra sprinkles of what they might get, as it is a zine entry.If you have already participated in zines, maybe include one of these pieces, that way they know you have ~experience~ and it gives them more realistic expectations.

Be honest with yourself: Are you actually ready to be in a zine, and is your art of choice, too? If your skill-level barely goes beyond middle-school art class/creative writing, and/or you don’t really have a portfolio to actually show people, maybe hone your skills a bit more as you create more pieces and challenge yourself.

I hate to be that person but I think especially artists are over-eager and just apply whether or not they are even skilled enough. I can guarantee you that just a poorly executed headshot of a character isn’t even close to enough to get into 99% of the zines out there, same goes for conveniently hiding hands behind the character’s back or other strategically placed objects. Know your skill-level, and know when it’s actually realistic to go semi-professional with it, because even if it is about a fun fan experience, mods also want to present a solid product in the end. This is not to discourage you but more as a sisterly advice because when I looked through the apps of our zine, I saw applications on a level where I would have never even dreamt of participating in a zine when I was at that stage.

CU AU masterpost 1

Animorphs AU

No one asked for these AUs, this one in particular, but I made it anyway. (also special thanks to Trans-Edith for throwing some ideas around with me. I think jailforstupiddumbnerds did too but I forget)

So there’s three different versions of this AU cause I’m trash

AU 1: Main Group- George, Harold, Melvin and Tommy. Billy and Lisa may or may not come in.

The initial group is just George, Harold and Melvin. Tommy finds the cube (?) and doesn’t go down the David Route. He’s more of the Tobias of the group. It starts with George and Harold going home (they’re teens in this) and offering to pick Melvin up. They’re on some kind of semi friendly terms now that they’re older. Melvin notices the ship first and they wind up checking it out. Maybe Melvin is the first to push them towards it because ‘wow science’ meanwhile George and Harold are very tired. The Canon adventures don’t happen cause...that’d just make things too complicated for this story and I’m a bad writer.

Anyway they get dragged into this war and get the morphing powers.

The three of them might have some kind of talk about what to do with all this. Or maybe they go home. Does the actual details matter considering I’m not writing the whole thing out?

Anyway Melvin goes home and experiments at some point. Dunderella (? IDK what the cat’s name was exactly) is his first morph. She (?) is pretty old though but he does some scoping things out. Finds out his parents are Controllers. IDK if this is too close to the beginning to be dropping this? But like he does find out when he’s in cat morph for the first time.

Stuff happens, George takes Harold out to the aquarium to morph dolphin and ‘feel better’ after some war stuff happens that I’m not planning out in full cause I don’t have the time to make it a thing and really are there that many CU fans who like Animorphs who’d want to read it?

Melvin finds out and he’s kinda pissed cause ‘you shouldn’t be using it for personal reasons’ etc. At some point Tommy finds the cube also Billy and Lisa get dragged into the war.

I can see George being the leader, Melvin is like the tactician and the tech guy. They butt heads a lot.

AU 2: It’s the adults who’re fighting the war.

Krupp and a few other teachers IDK who maybe Meaner, Miss Anthrope, Edith and Ribble are coming back from a night out?? They get the powers etc meet the alien

Krupp winds up being the defacto leader cause he’s their boss and stuff. No reason for the other three to be there I just picked three at random. And I don’t actually remember that many teachers to begin with.

Meaner is Krupp’s best friend (A thing I picked up from somewhere as much as I’d hate to admit that I didn’t make it from scratch) Edith doesn’t mingle much with the others but she’s still dating Krupp because it’s my Au and I want Egg Casserole. Krupp is painfully aware of how much of a target he is cause the Yeerks have started to target schools and other public places as a place of recruitment. If they take him they can push more of their infiltration through.

One shots coming: (also yes they all have quotes attributed to the Canon Animorphs. No particular reason)

Kill them then cry over them -Edith’s Chapter (takes place in the cafeteria, she reminisces about how she’s killed, tasted blood etc as a wolf. Something about ‘cycle of life being more painfully obvious and in your face now that you had to play a first hand role in fighting for survival’.

What now, fearless leader?: Krupp’s Chapter (Ben’s in his Office trying to do work but he’s on edge.) TBA

Sub AU- George, Harold, Melvin, Tommy, Krupp and Edith are the main team. Krupp tries to be the leader. Again, I didn’t go too in depth cause I didn’t really feel a need to when I came up with it. I mean I’m never fleshing it out/making it a thing and there’s no demand, so.

Space AU (it’s like  The Poseidon Adventure  but it’s in space apparently. Just go with it) Again, not super developed but hey it’s not like I’ll ever have the time to write all of these.

USCS [insert number/name here] is a ship containing inhabitants from the Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan region of the US. It is one of several many decades into the future. There’s a safety hull which is to stand as a barrier to the other two shells. The first shell is like the more mechanical stuff and the internal shell is where everyone lives. Things are split up into ‘districts’ by former states. Those districts have their own departments and it kinda goes like that. Miniature city states I guess? But they’re on a ship.

Anyway Krupp isn’t a Principal but he’s still got a high up post for Education in his sector/’state’ (?). ‘Captain’ is his twin brother who plays a hero on tv for the kids/ (IDK if he’ll actually show up in the story but I wanted to write that down). Edith’s just well Edith. They probably have AI doing the food stuff so maybe she works behind the scenes in that department? Anyhow, I want those two to still know each other cause damn it I will put my ship in all my fics if I can cause it’s my ship and my fic and I’ll fite u.

George and Harold are still George and Harold and Melvin’s still Melvin.

Everything’s going as normal, we get a scene or two showing the average day to day lives of the people on the Colony Ship prior to the event. I really want it to open with Krupp being at a meeting of some sort, he doesn’t want to be there but he has to and he’s trying to not fall asleep and slowly dying in his seat and he can feel it. There’s an alert of some sort of breach, the computers say that there’s a chance it could be dangerous and safety protocols should be put into effect. The meeting is canceled, or at least Krupp and a few others are excluded cause this doesn’t concern them/in their area of work. Krupp’s probably like ‘this isn’t what I asked for when I asked to get out of this meeting’ but he’s also worrying cause they’re in space and it will kill them and all.

Edith runs into Krupp asking what’s wrong (or maybe a little later this scene happens) asking if he’s got any information on ‘the breech’ he says he knows about as much as she does. They talk for a bit, worrying.

George, Harold, Melvin and maybe Tommy are in class when the breech happens. Classes are canceled and everyone is alerted to go into the emergency sectors designed for this kind of stuff.

AI AU

This could go a few ways really

The adults are robots. Krupp is an AI in charge of that school who’s gained his own little personality.

He either gets uploaded (?) into an animatronic (?) body (Captain Underpants) or they manage to mess with his programming. This might be an AU where Melvin’s involved I guess? Haven’t really worked it out other than the general premise.

HighSchool boyfriends AU

Or

George and Melvin are dating in HS.

(this is very very rough btw the ideas are there but I can’t articulate them well cause I’ve only got so much time to hash this all out)

George and Harold’s separate classes in the fourth grade was only the beginning of their ‘not being in the same class’ thing that only becomes more pronounced over the years. Especially now in HS. They still live next door and spend every day with each other. George just winds up being in the same class as Melvin and needs to be partners for a project with him. Also Harold’s starting to spend more time with Billy. The two have gotten a little more used to spending time with other people but it’s still a bit alien to them I guess.

Something something George and Melvin talk, maybe about their shared school history I guess.

(I’ll flesh this out later I swear)

The two start dating somehow, I can see them not really expecting to have any sort of feelings/emotions etc for each other outside of frenemy/begrudging project partners.

The actual full fledged romantic feelings don’t show up for a while so I guess it’s a slow burn??

There’s a party at some point, someone gets a little drunk maybe?

I want it to explore their chemistry together and like backstory for Melvin make it work you know?

At the end things wind up breaking off cause George has to be with Lisa cause Cannon (and I may or may not leave it in the air of whether it’s in the same timeline as the single dad AU)

I want the two to see each other less antagonistically and set up possibility of them being friends, all three of them in the future

Yall, confession, i’ve been neglecting this blog because i’ve been quite busy with other things. those things being cats. Some of u in the discord know about what i’m talking about, but i thought i’d make a post about why i wasnt updating as well as usual lately.

A few days ago, my family and i went on a fishing trip. near the pier we found a family of cats, a mom and 4 kittens 2 of which are infants. My family and i are attempting to catch them in hopes of keeping them, a busy park with roads in the middle of it is no place for a momma cat and her babies, and also these cats need to be spayed and neutered otherwise this small colony of cats could become a problem, yknow?

The only real problem is that, in order to be able to even trap these cats, we’d have to get them somewhat used to us. we try to be there at 7 each day so the cats will hopefully learn to come out to eat at the same time each day. the thing is, where the cats are is an hour away from where i live. this means an hour drive out there, stay there with them a few hours, and then drive an hour back. Thus taking up the time that would usually be used to update the blog.

long story short, i’ve been away attempting to rescue kittens. I’m sure u guys understand. (if we do manage to get them, i could upload some photos to tumblr, IF you guys really want. i’d probably post it on my main though, because this is a blog about our favourite gay lawyers, and this post already kinda messes that up heh. But even with the situation, i’m going to try to consistantly update, and reblog some content i didnt get the chance to during courtship week. 

ALSO! important part. I’m no cat catching expert, guys. I want to be able to save these cats. But i’m worried that if i use traps, then once i catch one the other cats will realize and leave the area. Another worse outcome would be to have the momma go in the trap, and her kittens follow her and get caught in the trap door. that would be horrible. I need any advice guys. any advice you have on how i could possibly do this. any of you guys know anything about this? what kind of traps to use? how to make sure we get all of them? any info helps, even if ur just leading me to a place where i can get some info. I just want to save these babs.
