GW2 ROLEPLAYERS

So. I've had this idea reserved for some time, now I finally have the drive and time to pull it off.

Y'know how the GW2 world/public RP scene is kinda well, barely existent? I have an idea that may resurrect it in some way.

This will be for US servers!

HERE WE ARE! This is my WORLD RP RESURRECTION PROJECT!

The idea is to basically make whole cities or areas the " RP event" for quite a few hours, so it's a faux event with no set premise and is only really there to drag people to the area.

World sharding kinda broke random walk up RP for the most part, buuut what if there was some type of anchor point for a single shard?

I plan on being that anchor point, I'm going to select two days of the week and for about 5 hours a night/afternoon set up a squad for people to jump in and jump out of if they want, but at least everyone will be in the same shard. I will probably rotate through cities, meaning a different one each day, people can set up their own events or businesses for these days to make these places feel a lot more lived in, I would appreciate anyone reaching out to me if they are interested in doing such, a lot of coordination is going to help this kind of project in the long run. This will of course be headed by the efforts of a fairly small guild, any help will be extremely appreciated. We are currently deciding on what days this whole thing will be, might make a poll for it if people like this idea enough. Hence how Husker found himself 3 bottles of tequila short, two laid empty on the floor and a 3rd already 3/4 of the way drained, Ninlil’s lips sealed tight so no one could get her to talk about what was wrong and her just staring out at nothing.

A sad sight really.

Seeing the recluse in such a state was jarring to say the least… not even Alastor’s jibs could bring her out of the stupor she had found herself in.

Ninlil wanted to forget… wanted the day to pass so the pain could begin to abate again.

The rest of the residents felt bad enough leaving her alone, but there wasn’t much they could do.

It’s difficult to help someone who just wants to hurt…

Ninlil had eventually stood up, and swaying with the difficulty of being so drunk, stumbled her way back to her office, taking the almost empty bottle of tequila with her.

From a lore point of view, Etoiles is the federation (or whatever organisation the codes work for) n⁰1 target

First, the dungeon for his presidential life. Ik it's mostly meta but if you think of lore, the Federation is the one who built the entire thing (as they're the one in charge of the elections). When Etoiles beat the dungeon, he beat the federation in a way.

Second, the attack in front of Lucky Ducks, clearly meant for him and way bigger than the other attacks on candidates (we're talking about dozens of nightmare stalkers when the other attacks consisted of zombies ect)

Then, the fake eggs targeted him. He was the only one kept in the arena, no matter what (idk if Phil got tped in later or just got in). The two codes were clearly targeting him and exploited the bug that HE discovered a few weeks prior to the event.

Today, fake Tallulah came back for him, turning into the code once again and spawning waves of strong mobs.

And that's without talking about his first encounter with the code, on his first day. As far as i know, he's the only person to have been personnaly visited by the code. It wasn't an attack. It's wasn't a threat. It was just the code, flying around, watching him.

Meta wise, ik the admins are giving him more fights for his warrior rp/because that what he truly enjoys on the server

But lore wise, i think it's interesting to see how determined the code is to kill him.

(we could also elaborate on how the code used to never come near Etoiles, as if it was scared of him. As if it only attacks him now because it feels stronger (when it's arguably the opposite). It was probably a coincidence but yk, it's fun to theorize about it)

Am I gonna be eaten alive if I say this event is like. Fine? And really could be fun if they just played into it?

Like the teams are a little unbalanced but literally not that bad they're just balanced to different needs and skillsets. Yes Red doesn't have a lot of active players but we saw yesterday that Etoiles kept Green super high on points the entire time as the Only Green online. It's super possible for them to win days if they put the effort in and I wish they hadn't given up on the first day lmao

The rules have been solidly established, they maybe need to clear up some gentlemen's rules (burning items, spawn killing etc) but like.. It's a team Vs team game. They're supposed to have conflict it's fine that's the point, and it's not like the items and bases will matter permanently once they get back to the main island (probably lol). And all teams have the opportunity to come back IF they put the effort in. It's a day by day victory. They can pull back days.

I do have an issue with the timing of the event bc as people have said it interrupts the lore a lot but like. No matter when they did it out would interrupt Something qsmp is extremely lore-active. And also. Two weeks is literally not that long. Maybe I'm just old and time passes really fast for me but two weeks is like Nothing. And it's variety! Stuff needs to happen to keep things fresh or ppl stop playing that's how Minecraft RP servers work!

Also I don't think the whole two weeks will be the same, we haven't seen the Events yet, and players are already talking in lore terms about the cursed team thing so something will happen with that I'm sure.

Anyway this is the only time I'll talk about it but I wish ppl didn't immediately start complaining day 1. It's a fun bit of variety on the server and an interesting twist to people's actions and relationships on the island. Have fun with it cause it is what it is

There you were, sitting all pretty and gorgeous. And he didn't mind that - he loved seeing you.

The problem in question was with Ace.

The first year had been coming up to you what seemed like every day, asking you to go on a date.

And sure, Azul knew that you wouldn't agree - you weren't the type of person to do something like that - but that didn't mean that he wasn't jealous.

He knew that he didn't make your relationship that public. Sometimes holding hands, walking you to class… That was mostly it. Most of the Octavinelle students, as well as some of the second years, knew, but other than that? Hardly anyone.

And anyways, he didn't want you to get more attention than was necessary.

Maybe Ace didn't know, and that was why he was doing this… But surely Grim had told him. Unless Grim had a problem with him too…

He gritted his teeth as Ace sidled up to you again, a casual arm slipping around your shoulders. Though, a small smile crossed his lips as he saw you shake his arm off.

"C'mon, kantokusei. One date?" Ace nudged you gently, a grin on his face. "C'mon, I know you like me~"

Azul sighed softly, feeling a small pang in his chest. Perhaps Ace wasn't entirely wrong, and that was why you hadn't given him a hard no? Yes, he saw you push Ace away multiple times, tell him to stop… But obviously it hadn't been harsh enough to drive off Ace.

Still, a nagging feeling in him told him that perhaps you weren't able to be assertive enough to get Ace to listen. Maybe he should jump in…

Over the past couple of weeks, you had gradually grown uncomfortable around Ace. You viewed him as a friend - just that, nothing more and nothing less.

But he seemed to view you as something more. And that definitely made you feel less than friendly toward the first year.

Even as he tried to touch your arm again, you whacked his hand away. "Stop it, Ace."

"But-"

The orange-haired male was cut off as Azul walked up to the two of you, a casual arm wrapping around your waist as he pulled you closer to him.

"What seems to be the matter?" Azul's voice, though polite, had a bit of an edge to it. His eyes were slightly narrowed, annoyance flashing in his gaze.

"Hey, I was just being friendly toward kantokusei, and teasing them a little bit-"

"That is definitely not the case, and both of us know it. Find another person because kantokusei-san belongs to me."

Azul's voice was cold - it was pretty clear that he was at his limit.

Ace seemed to back off after that, turning and walking away. You breathed a sigh of relief before you looked at Azul.

"Thank you for that," you said softly, moving to hug him tightly.

"Of course. It's my duty as your boyfriend." Azul was glad that you were happy - it seemed he had made the right call. He would have to make sure Jade and Floyd kept a closer eye on Ace… There was no telling how he could start harassing you again.

Still, as he held you close to him, he felt himself relax. Everything was fine - you were content, you were safe, and most of all? You were his.

You loved Arven to pieces; you were his little buddy. Due to this, you wanted to do something extra special for him on his birthday.

When you originally approached the idea of birthdays and asked Arven what he wanted to do, he just told you not to worry about it since he didn't care much about his own birthday.

When questioning him some more, you found out the cold hard truth. He hadn't celebrated his birthday in a very long time. Even when he lived with his parent, they would sometimes forget about it. Not on purpose, of course, they would just be too into their research.

Needless to say, it kind of ruined birthdays for Arven, and he didn't much care about celebrating his own. He'd be more than happy to do something for his friends, but not himself.

That's when your plan hatched with Nemona and Penny at your side. You were going to throw him a surprise party.

Nemona kept trying to say the best way to celebrate was with a surprise battle tournament, but both you and Penny had to shoot her down. This was for Arven, after all.

You managed to rope some of the staff in as well in the preparation. Mr. Saguaro had helped a lot with making some good foods for you guys to have for the party. Clavell even reserved the cafeteria just for the party so you guys had a big space.

You had asked to borrow Mabosstiff from Arven and put the pokemon in a little party hat.

When Arven came in, he was shocked to see the party poppers. All his friends were there, ready to celebrate the big day.

He was sheepish and scratched the back of his head, but admitted that Mabosstiff looked adorable in his party hat.

The party went well and by the end, when clean up was all done, Arven asked to speak with you privately.

He thanked you but you could see the tears threatening to leave his eyes as he did so. You did the only thing you could do, and it was to hug your friend and let him cry on your shoulder.

This was the first time in years he got to celebrate his birthday, and he was so grateful to have his friends there with him. He's just happy he was able to hold it together until the end and not cry in front of the others, how embarrassing would that be?

Arven swears he'll do something even better for your birthday, and it might have turned it into a bit of a competition between you two to try to one-up the other on birthday party throwing.

what people say: "you need to pay for fast travel! you need to pay for extra lives! you need to pay for character editing!"

the actual truth:

- you can pay for one mark location. this is an undeniable advantage, especially considering how early you're given it. the portcrystal is overpowered and i think it's the only dlc here that actually really matters

- you can pay for up to five extra lives. you can't buy more than the five dlcs, and getting wakestones is extremely, extremely easy if you want to bother to grind them. especially from the start of the game; every pawn starts with a quest where you get ⅓ of a wakestone for having them in your party for a day. if you really wanted to grind out wakestones, you could hire two fresh pawns, sit on a bench until a day passes, then dismiss the pawns and hire another pair. i don't even know why this dlc exists it's not even valuable and you can just. lose it. they're consumable. it shouldn't exist but not because it's an evil mtx, it's just weird.

- you don't need to pay to edit your character or your pawn. you can buy the art of metamorphosis for 500 RC, which you can get easily by simply playing online and having people hire your pawn, which they will do as long as you're online. I've been playing about 20 hours and have over 2000 RC, enough to buy 4 arts of metamorphosis. and even if you DON'T play online, for whatever reason, you can get RC as rare drops from enemies, so given time you can just build up a stock. in addition, following in the assumption it'll be like the first game, you'll be able to edit your arisen and pawn after entering ng+, which is probably a lot more investment than just fighting some cyclopes for RC.

- to discuss the other dlcs. you can buy RC directly, but there's not much reason to so far unless you want glasses or to change your pawn inclination.

- you can buy a makeshift gaol key, which will break you out of jail once, or you can buy one from a number of traveling merchants for like 1000 gold, which is a pittance

- you can buy the pawn inclination change items. these are more expensive to get with RC, clocking in at 2k RC, but inclination isn't really very necessary to change, and certainly not often.

- you can buy a pack of 3 harpysnare smoke beacons, which... do something? they let you grab onto harpies in certain areas and ride them to other places, but i don't know how useful this actually is in general, and I'm pretty sure you can just buy them from some general stores for a couple thousand gold

- you can buy a heartfelt pendant, which is a gift item that makes someone like you. the only relevance to this mechanic, as far as i know, is getting merchants to give you a discount, and for rp to have your beloved related to story events (assuming it follows the same as the first game). in the case of merchants, you can just look at their favorite items and give them Three (3) of their liked items and they'll be at max affection. in the case of your rp beloved, well, you should already care about them. you should get them what they love instead of just buying a pretty necklace. also if you want to search for every seeker token you can get the arisen's bond that way to max anyone's affection.

- you can buy a mod that changes music and sounds to be from DD1. to each their own

- you can buy a special camping kit. it's lighter than the normal kit, so it's helpful, but you can also just buy it for 6000 gold from some traders without needing to buy it.

- you can't even buy ferrystones. you don't even pay for fast travel you pay for a portable fast travel point, which still costs a very expensive ferrystone to teleport to.

- if you see the steam reviews, they're mixed. if you change the filter to only see reviews from people who have played the game for at least nine hours, that changes to mostly positive. the significant majority of negative reviews were made before even playing the game for NINE HOURS.

- there are other valid complaints about this game, this post is exclusively addressing the dlc. i will continue to defend this game because it's really really fun and I'm really annoyed at the review bombs by people who have no idea what they're talking about and are just parroting something they heard on twitter without actually knowing anything about what they're saying

- p.s. i want to be clear; i don't think microtransactions are a good thing and i genuinely believe none of these dlcs should be available as dlc, for various reasons (mostly detailed above). but the issues i have with them are generally the opposite of the issues people cry about, and i want to make clear that while there are problems with them and plenty of reasons NOT to buy the dlcs, the oft-cried reasons are misleading at best and outright false at worst

sorry i got reminded about purgatory again and its amazing the way that event is like the joker for me personally it is like my ultimate summation of every issue i had with qsmp. terrible timezone choices every day for two weeks. it lasted so ridiculously long. it made the fandom horrific (and i still see the effects of this shit). character reduction for every single character (no one was free of this unless they literally did not log in). never following through on plot threads. terrible balancing. everyone was so hopped up on competition like 3/4 of the rp going on made no sense i don't think i'll ever get over "guys what if the cursed team matters" and like almost everyone else going "actually it doesn't they'll just change it to whoever wins" (i don't hate cc for this but it still boggles my mind as if that isn't the most piss poor writing decision that could be made. And yet.) everyone siding on teams decided everyone else was out to get them. fans behaved like this was true for Months and would hatepost on every other cc even when the cc had nothing against them. it didnt even save the eggs. and then people still spam bolas places like girl who give a fuck. . Purgatory die forever fuck you purgatory.

Okay it is time for me to talk about rpz characters !

Small explanation on what is rpZ : a gta rp server that was created by Zeraror made to last 2 weeks exactly. It was the first introduction to rp for a lot of French streamers. It was full rp and almost everything was impro. The only big event really organized was elections for the mayor (won by a dog who gives free cocaine btw)

All of our french qsmp stremears (expect Kameto) participated.

ANTOINE CROUTE (he/him)

Baghera character

He is 16 years old, youngest of the server, often misgender because of his high-pitched voice. He spent the full two weeks with his cousin Daniel Croute (play on words with Antoine Daniel), so we can't speak about one without speaking about the other two they are basically soulmate. At first we think they both have parents and we don't see them because they are on holidays, but towards the end given the fact that they confess that there parents don't give news and the fact that they live on the street we understand they have been abandoned.

Antoine often says he is the muscle and Daniel the brain but they both aren't that smart and very naive and get themself into a lot of troubles. They are looking for an internship but always inevitably get fired because of their numerous mistacke. They will finaly found a job at Montazac(Antoine characters)'s vineyard even after a few incident in the end Donatien de Montazac permently hire them, makes them heir then adopt them.

The obvious one is their need for a family and habit to get attached quickly to anyone who start to respond to their need. Baghera did it with philza and Antoine with Donatien and Doc Maison(a mentor of his). The fact that they don't have a "real" familly hurt their selfestem

Then more funny(?) is their relationship with death. Or if we want to be precise the temporary kind of death (because of the coma dynamic in gta and respawn in Minecraft ). If you are familiar with q!Baghera she as a tendency to die a lot but also to encourage other to do so, saying they should die more, have more fun with death in general. She steps on mine, drown herself, jump of clif, for fun and giggle a lot. In the spawn of two weeks Antoine had 48 coma, the record of the server (compilation of all his coma). Antoine keeps on dying dumb way and never learn his lesson as doctors will anyway always come to help him

Their compassion and the way they always go out of their way to help. q!Baghera in a way that she always tries to find the best solution to help their friends and resolve situations and Antoine just throws himself into dangerous situation to help his loved one.

In the first week of the qsmp, Baghera told the adventures of the Croute cousins to Pomme as a bed time story. The moral was that even when adversity kept making their life difficult they kept hoping for their happy ending with they got.

DONATIEN DE MONTAZAC (he/him)

Antoine's character. He is a winery owner, very rich, and has for motivation getting even richer. We understand quite fast that he doesn't care for no one except him and his money(but his characters evolve during the weeks). He is taken ostage at least 4 times and somwhat always manage to escape the situation harmless and with more money than before. He isn't violent but is in an relashionship with the Vagos (local mafia) to protect his domain. He presented himself to the election and had a lot of votes, he was quite pised to lost against a dog.

For multiple reason (he snitched on him to the cops) he is hated by doctor Cox, a dangerous ex psychologist with a love for revenge. Cox will try to manipulate antoine into betraying Donatien without sucees. The last day he will kidnapepd both Croute cousins and will force Donatien to choose one to kill, he will refuse to but will instead forced to beat them up. They will be ultimatly be saved by the fact that Cox henchman don't want kids to be hurt in the conflict and called the police. After the incident he will confess that for them he would have been capable of paying any ransom (wich is a lot coming from him)

I think q!antoine is really different from Donatien but one thing they do have in common is their selfishness. Not in a particularly mean way but they both put their own interests as an all top priority and won't go out of their way to help other if it doesn't benefices them.

But also both character soften their way for they kids, Donatien for Antoine and Daniel and Antoine for Pomme. In both case it is a slow warming to them and then love with a powerful want to protect(less shown with Donatien because Antoine is already almost an adult and can take care of himself)

He reference his character out of rp : During qsmp 2024 anytime he was winning a lot of money he would jokingly said he was in a "Donatien arc". During the elections arc, he said that he gave enough before and don't want to try to lose to the dumb mascot again (Gegg in qsmp, the dog in rpz)

PATRICK PAGNOLESS (he/him)

Aypierre's character.

(Okay, so I didn't watch his pov. This is more what I know from wiki fandom/clips/seeing him in other pov)

He is the owner of the Pagnoless brother with his brother Jackyyy (played by JimmyBoyyy which you might have seen during purgatory 2). It is the richest enterprise as well as the one with more depts. He is from the south of France and left to escape the Corse mafia.

Etoiles's character.

Not much to say since because of scheduling conflict and difficulties with rp Etoiles didn't play much. He was basically a bald doctor with depression. He is really passive aggressive and hates his job.

ANYWAY, that was not short at all but I cut a lot of things and tried to make it still understandable.I maybe forgotten things, rpz were a pretty eventful 2 weeks.

Reading Lea's interview it is possible to see that Quackity has a long way to go if it wants to make this project progress properly. The Prison Event shows that there is a lot to work on. And why don't I doubt that it could have happened the way Lea said? I'm not going to put my hand in the fire completely, but I'm going to burn my fingertips now. The Prison Event was initially announced for 5 days, then unexpectedly reduced to 3, and it was an event that managed to be good, but was clearly limited for the players. Whenever any of them made any progress, it was taken away from them. See what happened with qBagi, qMouse, qSlime, qPhil, qFoolish, etc. Significant progress was only allowed when Quackity entered to play on the last day. Some of these details match up a little with Lea's information about how the event was structured. And then I think, maybe not even 3 days were necessary, just 2. One to get to know the event and another to end it. So, maybe it wouldn't take so much effort from administrators, because having things changed at the last minute isn't a positive thing either. I'd really like to know what original plans were scrapped because Quackity didn't like it. My conclusion in light of everything that was read is: I say again that if he closed the server to work on the restructuring it would be better. Take a real break, even for his health. Let things cool down, because with each new report, the project becomes increasingly tarnished. The project itself is great, it achieved the goal of making people of different languages understand each other, but poor management tarnished all progress. I think that even the fact that the CCs don't come in much, apart from the BadBoyHalo addict, is a sign that it should be temporarily closed. And perhaps this would give extra time for the workers who remained to focus on internal problems and how they could be resolved without having to worry about helping a player within the server. They could even test some things. Because all roleplayers need to come back. The server is not entirely RP, but RP exists and is important for 90% of players. And now there are two more new languages, we have to keep new players without losing the old ones.
