So...I finished the Arlecchino story quest...

Spoilers below!

TW: Mentions of Suicide, Child Experimentation, Child Abuse, and Murder/Death

This is, by far, the best story quest I have ever done!

First of all, CHILDE?! CHILDE ESCAPING HIS PERSONAL AMBULANCE TO SNEZHNAYA JUST TO COME BACK TO FONTAINE TO ASK SKIRK A QUESTION? Bro is so funny, please-

please save him.

Wait, actually, yeah please do save him. Pulcinella and Pantalone are both plotting in the background, and they got Childe involved...

I also loved the children! Look at how terrifying they are! They're my absolute faves!!

Lyney cementing the reason as to why Arlecchino chose him as the next King is wonderful to see as well. For some time, I thought Freminet and Lynette had a shot, even with reading their lore. What I have failed to realize is that Lyney really is the inspiration for all of the people in the House of the Hearth. His frustrated and disappointed spiel about Freminet not trusting him with Clervie struck me to the heart. This is an older brother at work here people!

Also if I had a nickel every time a cryo younger brother hid a dangerous secret from his pyro older brother which got them into an argument once the truth came out, I'd have 2 nickels ✌️ (somehow gave me war flashbacks to a scene that doesn't even exist lmao)

LYNETTE IS THE FUNNIEST SIBLING BTW. SHE'S MY QUEEN FOR THIS.

Clervie! Our dearest! I'm not fully sure what part in her design did it, but she barely looks like an NPC somehow. Like, yes, this is still an NPC base model, but... is it perhaps the hair? And the extra lashes??

Also, her calling Arlecchino "Perrie" made me sob. I wasn't ready to hear nicknames!!

The mention of Snezhnayan auroras also made me sob again as well. You know what? This entire thing made me sob.

Clervie's dread and horror at the thought of her own mother, her unrelenting spirit that kept her going in her fight for her fellow peers freedom despite the abuse that she will receive, and her unfulfilled dreams repeatedly being mentioned throughout this quest was heartbreaking.

I do have to say- the animations they released for Arlecchino helped a lot with the emotions we are supposed to feel for this quest. Not only was that good Advertising and promotion for the Arlecchino banner, it also set up the plot that would have not been well presented ingame had they chose to do that instead.

Crucabena and Clervie part of this quest were not the only ones mentioned in this quest, but also that damn dude that she killed with her heels! I personally like the way they released all those animations because the quest feels more emotional and alive now, and we could follow with the story better than before (and it effectively increased the hype)

Speaking of more alive, the facial expressions have definitely improved! This quest had them utilizing various expressions well, specifically for the playable characters, so, again, this really helped with the feel of the quest.

Additionally, adding a picture to scenes also set the tone really well. It's not that pictures have never been included in quests before, but the way these were framed(?) made it look way better than the ones before.

By the way...is it just me? Or did Paimon's voice somewhat mellow out for this quest? I had recently played some other story and world quests, and Paimon's EN voice is admittedly high-pitched and painful to hear in those, but for this quest, it's as if her voice was toned down (like Mondstadt Paimon, but with current Paimon energy). I'm hoping this was them taking the criticism from past and adjusting their instructions to Paimon's VA accordingly, because I loved Paimon's voice in this quest (that or I'm delulu)

Quick lore tidbits before I go back to gushing about this quest:

1. Arlecchino confirmed not from Fontaine (like I legit thought she may be Khaenri'ahn due to the blood moon thing she has going for her, but it's nice to confirm her non-Fontainian status)

2. Crucabena was the one who had a deal with Dottore on sending members of the HotH to him for experimentation. Anyone who was physically impaired or left alive after a duel to death are automatically sent to him. Clervie has described this as a fate worse than death... Peruere rejected Dottore's partnership offer once she became the next knave. Also, Crucabena used Clervie as an "example" for those who wish to escape, meaning Clervie received the most abuse (which apparently worsened as the years went by). Clervie lost hope sometime along the way and was basically suicidal as well by the time she and Arlecchino had their duel... Her mindset by that time is that the only hope for freedom to her is death. The popular theory of Clervie letting Arlecchino kill her is proven in a horrifying way with this discovery... (yes, she wanted Arlecchino to be the king, but at the same time, she took this situation as a chance to hit 2 birds with 1 stone)

3. Project Stuzha is apparently something highly dangerous, and Pulcinella and Pantalone are trying to get Childe and Arlecchino involved (Childe was told to aide the project by Pulcinella, while Arlecchino says she doesnt want the HotH to be involved in it)

4. Here is me reannouncing that I am in fact taking the L on the Freminet and Crucabena situation. Basically, the timeline is that at age 16, Clervie dies, and we are left with a 1 year time period for a 6 year old Freminet to enter under Crucabena (I'm guessing this is either a retcon or a means to hide the Arlecchino plot by not having them directly say mother in Freminet's character story 4). After that said 1 year, Peruere kills Crucabena and has spent several months in Snezhnaya before reviving the House of the Hearth and adopting Lyney and Lynette (perhaps the children of Crucabena's HotH simply stuck together during that time)

Basically, yes, Arlecchino is in her mid-20s. Not my personal cup of tea, but hey, genshin ages are confusing most days (Ayato is older than her, and Ayaka may actually be older than her as well... ugh I need a moment please... I MAY BE THE SAME AGE AS HER. NO-)

5. Freminet used to also call Lyney "brother". What changed that, I'm not sure (and if I had a nickel...), but the thought of baby Freminet following around big bro Lyney and big sis Lynette makes my heart melt. Freminet actually cried after Lyney basically told him how important Fremi is to him, so whoever made Freminet think otherwise... 😡 they better square up because we ride at dawn

THE BOSS FIGHT? IT WAS SO COOL! It was beautifully animated, and the fact that they added this at the end?

The fear on the traveler's eyes upon realization of what true power Arlecchino held was amazing imo. We canonically cannot defeat Arlecchino in her boss fight! She will be a weekly boss that we can defeat, but in actuality, we really cannot beat the number 4 of the Fatui Harbringers.

We now have actual proof that harbringers 1-4 are not within our capabilities to challenge, and to add to that horror, this is us fighting Arlecchino with Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet. This is also actual proof that we, the traveler, cannot defeat a ton of other characters as well! (were cooked if we never get a power boost and plot armor✌️)

Also let me sneak in this picture:

Cunty as fck. Powerpuff girls energy. They're the Heathers, and we, the traveler, are Veronica.

And finally, the last part of my commentary that cemented this quest as my top 1:

Everything Arlecchino has done for the House of the Hearth, it was all thanks to Clervie and her dreams.

Arlecchino has shaped the HotH into a more honest relationship between her as the father and them as her children. Everything Clervie hated about the old HotH is now nonexistent in this version.

The children could be set free.

Duels are not to death.

They will not be sent to their doom if they lose.

This is everything that Clervie dreamed of, and this is everything Clervie tragically never got to see and experience because she lost all hope.

Clervie's story ended in tragedy, but Peruere lived and breathed Clervie's dreams for her anyway. Seeing the aurora was the start of Peruere finding the goal of living Clervie's dream, and now, Arlecchino strives to do her best to see those dreams come to fruition.

And the qualities that Peruere admired in Clervie are the same qualities that made her want Lyney to become the next king. Hopeful, caring, protective, passionate, and full of conviction. Lyney will take the mantle and live and breathe for Clervie's and Peruere's dreams someday.

Honestly, I have more to say, but I think this is a good place to stop for now. The dynamics of all these characters have made this experience worthwhile, and I hope that genshin continues with this sort of style in the future. Here's to more amazing stories from genshin!

Hmm, what if q!Bad being effected by the soul vultures is inherently a good thing?

I mean looking at the wiki for both the soul vulture and the soul stealing potion, it is pretty fucking powerful. I mean you could theoretically suck the life out of someone and use their soul to better yourself. I feel like q!Bad would 100% use this to his advantage

I've headcannoned how q!Bad has very destructive powers to the point where he can't use them cause he'll hurt and destroy everything. Perhaps this whole soul steal potion is his plan to get powerful enough to destroy the federation without hurting anyone else

I've put some thought into it and I think it makes sense

Obviously he found out about these potions from Dapper. But from what we know (and could see) Dapper only ever made the potions by sacrificing his health to the soul vultures

Me thinks the blue spots on q!Bad is from him consuming the soul potion instead of making it. I mean, we didn't see any spots on Dapper right? Meaning the blue spots has to have come from something else. But the blue is so similar, it HAS to have come from the soul vultures in some way. It being a side effect of drinking the potion me thinks is logical enough, and it makes sense that q!Bad is drinking it as he knows from Dappers notes how powerful it is

It also kinda explains the worker in his basement. Sure q!Bad has questioned it and maybe even tortured it, but q!Bad phrased it as an 'investigation' or 'project'. Surely q!Bad knew the worker wouldn't have much information, so why take it in the first place? Well, I think he'd go to these extremes if he had an ulterior motive. Namely, investigating whether the soul steal potion would effect federation employees aka could q!Bad use it against the federation

AND THE TIMING WORKS. When we saw the worker last, it was caged and locked up in q!Bad's basement. Let's say during that time period, he worked out that the worker is indeed effected by the soul stealing potion. And so, seeing this success, q!Bad starts taking the potion. And look at that, the black patches appear the next fucking day. And not 2 DAYS LATER, the blue spots start appearing.

And nearly everyday since, we've seen him either go back to the basement or the soul vultures, presumably to either make the potions or consume it. Oh and look at that, the blue has gotten worse and worse over time, almost as if he's drinking more and more of it

Motherfucker even said at one point:

"All according to plan."

Plus, I remember seeing one post saying how they don't think q!Bad is torturing the worker but rather experimenting on it like Dapper would experiment on shit. I'd say testing if a soul stealing potion would work on the employee is definitely experimenting on it

But I think we should definitely keep in mind the uh, ahem, other side effects.

Such as q!Bad becoming more violent, more hysteric, less empathetic, aka, losing his humanity, almost as if he's losing his own soul by getting hurt by the soul vultures and instead is regaining souls through the soul vulture potion, but ofcourse the souls aren't the same so bit by bit he's becoming more like one such as looking like one (the blue spots all over him), acting more like one (being more violent), sounding more like one.. (those noises we keep hearing at the end + start of stream)

..just saying we might see some soul vulture wings on q!Bad pretty soon..

Hello all. I wanted to share some information I received about the specifics of Team Calm's experiments and research.

If you are not familiar with Team Calm, Team Calm is a team focused on creating "ultra domesticated" Pokemon. These Pokemon have a lower prey drive, and are much more docile. Team Calm then gives away these Pokemon, or sells them for a profit. These Pokemon also have health issues, as well as general lethargy from decreased prey drive.

Many people have had concerns about how this was accomplished so quickly. Domestication is a slow process, and Team Calm is able to create UD lines very quickly.

I received information from someone who chooses to remain anonymous. Regretfully, the process by which Team Calm domesticates these Pokemon is one of cruel experimentation.

Team Calm has created a certain compound that is used to speed up the domestication process. This is quickly injected into Pokemon eggs, and fundamentally changes how the Pokemon develops inside the egg.

You may have seen some of the UD Pokemon. As previously stated, they come with health issues and lethargy. These are the ones Team Calm advertises. They are the best case scenario.

The documents I have received show a history of unethical experimentation. The compound they inject into Pokemon eggs is fundamentally incompatible with many species of Pokemon.

I have spent hours digging through documents and reports about the worst case scenarios of these experiments. The ones that do not hatch are lucky.

The ones that do hatch will rarely live long. The results vary greatly. Some have instincts so nonexistent the Pokemon does not even know how to breathe, and ends up suffocating because it never figured out breathing. Some Pokemon are born with jaws so far back their skulls are permanently impacted. Some Pokemon are born with such great fear and prey instinct they die from that fear alone, even if they are physically well.

What Team Calm is showing you are the successes. We should have been asking about the failures.

Due to being a harbinger, he often doesn't have time to come home to you, especially when he’s across Teyvat on business. So, whenever he does manage to see you, he's extremely clingy and demands your attention. He hasn't seen you in so long and he feels horrible about it.

To be fair, you could technically travel alongside him, but that would put you at risk of being targeted or getting hurt. Unless you're properly able to defend yourself, he refuses to allow you to travel with him.

Whenever he gets the chance, he will spoil you rotten no matter what. If he comes back from another nation, he has at least five souvenirs to give you. Since you were unable to go there, he’ll tell you all about his trip, usually keeping out the unsavory details of who he had fought and killed.

He's very protective of you, worrying about your well-being while he's away and even when he's with you. He trusts you, but he doesn't trust those around you, for the most part.

Childe is big on PDA. He usually tries not to take it too far, only doing what you're comfortable with. Although, he usually does want to at least hold your hand.

He’ll flirt with you whenever he gets the chance, and if you try flirting back, he makes it into a competition, usually with him coming out as the victor. The best way to fluster him is to tease him about awkward moments in the relationship. If you play your cards right, he turns beet red. Although, do be warned that he’ll come back for revenge.

After coming back after a journey or even a long day of fatui work he's all over you. Once he sees you, he brings you into an embrace and wishes to stay there for a while. It doesn't matter what you have to do, he’ll keep you company.

Whenever the two of you cuddle, he’ll wrap you into a warm embrace and rest your head on his chest as he places a kiss on the top of your head. He just wants to be as close as possible to you in these times. If you need to get up for something, he’ll pout but let you go. After all, he knows that you wouldn't ask to leave for no reason.

Dottore has very little concern for human life, so the fact that he is with you either indicates that he treats you like a pet or that he holds you in high regard. If anything, he likely viewed you as a pet at first before he decided you were truly worth his time.

At first, his only view at the beginning of a relationship was what he would get from it personally. After all, he's a scientist. He wants to experience new things to be able to evaluate new outcomes in the future. That being said, he’d never expect to get attached in any way.

Upon getting into this relationship, he fully intended to use you for experiments regarding emotion and other minimal ones. He didn't want to ruin his fun by doing something that would kill you too quickly. After all, he hadn't gotten all of his needed results to form a proper conclusion.

He finds every reaction from you incredibly fascinating. You're always filled with emotion, and he loves it. It's so easy to read you, and you're the perfect reference for human emotions.

Then, the more time he spent with you, the less he wished to kill you; the desire is still there, but it's much less noticeable.

This is still Dottore we are talking about, though, so even though he finds you to be a trustworthy individual that he cares about more than just work, he still loves to mess with you. That being said, he’ll use his clones to his advantage whenever he gets the chance. Constantly allowing you to become confused whenever you realize the Dottore in front of you isn't the real one.

Dottore is far from a romantic person but he does care for you. The most noticeable sense of this is that he trusts you enough to be around him in a fairly vulnerable state.

He may see you in high regard, but that doesn't mean he cares much for anything that attempts to interact with you. Dottore is incredibly protective and will kill anyone who wrongs you or attempts to tarnish your name.

Bear in mind that any gifts you receive are stolen, though.

This man has money and won't hesitate to spoil you with it, Pantalone will gladly buy you whatever you wish when you go out.

Pantalone enjoys taking long walks at night as long as you're properly dressed, it can get extremely cold at night in Snezhnaya so he makes sure your dressed to not freeze. In these moments he’ll pepper your face with kisses as the two of you bask in moonlight.

He doesn't enjoy cuddling for long periods, mainly only holding you softly as music plays softly in the background. It isn't for very long, but it's always delightful to feel his warmth in contrast to the everlasting winter that is Snezhnaya.

Similarly, doesn't enjoy PDA all that much but it you insist he’ll give in to your request.

Although, he does enjoy intertwining your fingers as you accompany each other. It doesn't matter if you're walking alongside each other or simply sitting together.

Pantalone would never allow anyone to lay a finger on you. Whenever you go out, either he or a few other trusted Fatui members are with you at all times. He could never risk you getting hurt.

If by chance the members assigned to protect you fail their job, he will dispose of them in the cruelest way possible. Not only did they disobey his order, they also got his lover injured in the process.

Similar to Dottore, Pantalone won't hesitate to kill someone if they slander you.

Master Detective Archives Spoilers

TW: Death, Murder, Inhumane Actions All-Around

I just realized something horrifying: if both the UG Research Facility and Amaterasu were working to create immortal clones, wouldn’t that mean they had to test to see they are immortal? As in, they may have actually killed the clones so they could test if they come back to life or survive the ordeals?

Imagine poor Makoto, who is technically the first successful immortal Homunculus, meaning he had lots of test done to test his immortality. To make sure nothing could possibly, actually kill him and not bring him back to life?

Or what about Amaterasu when they successfully cloned the citizens of Kanai Ward? They would have no doubt also tested to make sure the clones are also immortal as well. Granted, we know the project was a failure, considering we see when they are revived, they become zombies and are seriously allergic to sun and need “special” supplements to keep their cells intact, but the people working in the project before knowing such informations would have no doubt been planning or even had tested their immortalities. I know Yomi, who was a part of the project, would have no doubt been in charge of such inhumane testing.

With the help of her small crew Leinwen had quickly found someone's face she could borrow. A bit of making her feel nauseous and disoriented later and she was able to get the girl to hand over her ID card and pick up the knowledge she needed to sell the con. She wasn't thrilled about going into a laboratory again but she needed to go. She planned on keeping it simple: grab any relevant information she could find to send to local authorities, attempt to sabotage in a manner that didn't hurt the pokemon, and free whomever she could grab before being noticed.

It was frightening to her how easily she could slip back into designation enigma-37; like putting on an old coat that had been gathering dust at the back of her closet. At least she wouldn't have to kill anyone, though she was prepared to if necessary. Thankfully it seemed her plans aligned with Professor Silverleaf's well.

"If you can keep everyone busy I'll handle getting incriminating files and nabbing what pokemon I can," she said as they walked. "Don't worry I'm a professional. I usually have a telepathic tether to my teammates so they can give a quick tug if something goes wrong and they need help. Don't worry if you'd rather not I'll be keeping an eye out anyway."

Bit more on her post-RE5 state and how she's dealing with everything she went through. Mentions of Rebecca and their developed friendship too.

Mentions of experimentation, medication.

thinking about the fact that after re5 and all of wesker's experiments she would be very wary around any needles, any kind of medication or hospital/labwork, unless she knows EXACTLY what's in the vial. And it can't just be any doctor either, it has to be someone she trusts immensely, to the point that if that person isn't working that day or isn't in the hospital for any reason, she would not allow people to take blood samples. And even with all of that, she's still incredibly wary, and doesn't like it.

Sleep is also much more difficult because even though she used to take sleeping pills back in RC, she can't stomach them nowadays after spending so long in cryosleep. If she's sleeping, it has to be on her own terms, and this also translates to anaesthesia - she dislikes it heavy.

So I like to think she often went to Rebecca for it, wanting to trust someone she was familiar with - which is why Rebecca is aware of her mental state and how she's doing in Death Island, because Jill slowly opened up during checkups, not a lot, but just enough that Rebecca was aware. Rebecca and Jill would have developed a good friendship I think, and would have known they could rely on each other.

Rebecca didn't push her, but kept to Jill's own newer boundaries as she worked through her trauma, but still pushing her gently to help her, often finding Jill late at night or early morning in the shooting range practicing, anything to keep her mind off sleep, and the nightmares that came with it. Rebecca would make a habit to show with coffee, energy drinks, hot drinks, and would leave them for Jill when she got to the shooting range, or she just sat down as Jill practiced and watched.

In the Misfit AU Yuma does change the bandages every now and then right

So how does he do it in secret(if he does)and for how long?

Yes, he does. A bit of trigger warning here, but let’s just say Yuma’s scars got reopened after a ‘conversation’ with Yomi prior to the main story. So he has to put medical gel so they can heal in the next few months, and then wrap them up in bandages before covering the hands and arms in long gloves.

As for if he keeps it a secret, I’d say yes because he doesn’t like to talk about his time as an experiment and all the testings he had to endure. If the NDA finds out about the scars, they’re gonna start asking questions because they’re detectives who would be absolutely curious how he gotten them, and he just wants to leave that dark part of his past behind. Plus, the last time he told someone about the testings, they ended up dead and he doesn’t want the same to happen to them (because they would absolutely try to expose those scientists—but restrain themselves because it’s freaking Amaterasu).

Unfortunately, it gets harder to hide them as Yuma learns about the extent of his Forte (sharing other Fortes), the Peacekeepers (especially Yomi) encountering him, and especially when he moves in with Yakou, making it harder for him to both hide the gels & bandages, and apply them when needed.

How did you become Professor Terror? How did you overcome the second brain?

Professor Terror: That was due to the actions of my uncle Brendan Boxleitner. He wanted to created the perfect villain through a specially concocted formula that would make any human the ultimate evil. I was his unwilling test subject. I was only a child when I was experimented on by that cruel monster. Luckily another hero interrupted my uncle's plans and rescued me, though by the the formula was already inside of me. It was only dormant. The formula was reactivated when that clumsy oaf Two Brains got zapped by the same machine my uncle made. The person who made it wanted to use it for a different purpose though. Too bad for them. I was reborn. Though it took me time to regain my mental and physical strength, I was able to come into control. As for overcoming the second mouse brain, it was a walk in the park. I am not weak willed like regular old goody two shoes Steven was.

“Oh Matt… what did they do to you?”

Having wanted to uncover what the Umbrella Corporation was up to once and for all, Matt had gotten more than he bargained for when he was caught snooping around a facility in Eastern Europe and discovered that not one, but two entities were responsible for the illegal human experimentation going on there. Umbrella had formed some unholy partnership with another entity called Hydra, one Matt had never heard of before, and after they imprisoned him, he wished he never had.

Matt was infected with a prototype T-virus and subjected to round after round of tests and surgeries. His body grew massive and mutated out of control. Tentacles sprouted from the backs of his shoulders, the skin on his face was puled back so tightly that he no longer had lips, and his teeth were now big enough to be a bear's. He had to wear a tight leather support around his midsection to quite literally hold in his bulging body, for it had mutated enough in some places to be painfully structurally unsound. One of his retinas had been fitted with a device that allowed a digital overlay to his regular sight, giving him the ability to identify people, creatures, and weapons just by looking at them. The synthetic neuro-transponder was sewn and stapled up into his head just behind his right eye, and with it, he could not only identify targets in real time, but also receive orders by viewing them as part of the digital overlay along with the rest of his sight. He was no longer Matt Addison. They called him... The Nemesis.

Because that had been the point of all this horrific research... to create super soldiers. more importantly, to create expendable yet durable ones that could be deployed, take a lot of damage, complete certain objectives, and then either be collected or discarded. Matt had signed up for exactly none of this, but he no longer had any rights or means to complain. He'd only seen himself in a mirror a few times, and the last time he had, he went on a half-hour-long rage that took six soldiers to stop, breaking not only the mirror but a lot of expensive laboratory equipment as well. An increase in anger and violent tendencies seemed to be a side effect of the viral mutation.

Both Hydra and Umbrella had been racing to develop some kind of control chip that could be implanted into Nemesis' brain, allowing full control of him for field deployment. As of yet, they had been unsuccessful. Massive amounts of sedatives kept him docile, but whenever they tried to back off of the concentrations, he rebelled against his captors.

Matt's only respite in this terrible place was talking with some of the other test subjects, particularly a pair of twins named Wanda and Pietro. They seemed like nice people, if not a bit naïve to the true nature of the people who held them captive. Matt did his best to educated them, telling them all about what he and his other activist comrades had discovered, but the twins seemed to have an axe to grind against one of the world's most powerful billionaires, and they thought the results of this research were going to grant them he power to punish him. In truth, Matt felt bad for them, but talking to them helped keep him sane. He hadn't seen them in a long time, though, not since he'd begun to mutate...

Until, one day, his medication had apparently not been refilled, and once the IV drip of sedatives stopped, it was a matter of minutes before Nemesis was stirring. As he groggily sat up, his one good blue eyes blinking sluggishly, he looked around to see no one in the room with him. By the time he was puling out all manner of wires and IV lines from his body and sitting up from the gurney, he heard the door to his room open behind him. Whirling around, Nemesis' rage was already provoked and he growled savagely at whoever had entered... only to immediately calm down again. It was Wanda.

Standing up from the gurney, Nemesis stood calmly, his blue eye looking her over. Then she said his name - his true name - and his head bowed in a mixture of shame and despair. "Thiral... ex-to-sure..." he tried to say,his voice low and rumbling like some creature from hell. Without lips, "v" and "p" sounds, among others, were impossible to make. "Nu-ta-tions..." Yeah, "m" sounds were also impossible. He was getting frustrated. "Surgeries." Ah, that he could say.

As he looked at Wanda, the automatic targeting software in his neural implant was downloading information. Her identification came up within view at the bottom of his field of vision. It read: "Maximoff, Wanda. Human. Female. Program: Exposure to highly concentrated alien mineral substance. Health: Stable. Progress: Satisfactory. Status: Ongoing. Threat Level: Moderate."

Behind him, his tentacles undulated with curiosity. They were strange appendages, not quite having their own sentience but definitely displaying some amount of inclination outside of Matt's own voluntary movement of them. As they curiously extended towards Wanda, Matt beat them back with his hands. "Cut it out!" he reprimanded them and they shrunk back behind him. Looking at Wanda, he sighed. "Sor-ry..."

He was glad to see that they hadn't subjected her to surgeries and mutations like they had him. "Are you o-kay... Wan-da?" he asked, hoping she was. He wouldn't have wished his fate on anyone, not even his worst enemy.

Once again, the boy wasn't eating. Everything looked the same to him and these tests were getting overwhelming to him.

So much pressure just to see what he did. What he could do. What they could gain from it.

He'd already shown one before, the inability to die. Damn people were loving that one. The fact he couldn't do anything about it and they could do whatever they want now with no fear of repercussions...

Well, not enough repercussions at least. The telekinesis was still very weak. He couldn't use it to hurt anyone and it took too much out of him.

His head leaned against a nearby wall. The coolness something he was missing deeply.

And where were his brothers? Were they being tortured just like him? Hurt?

It didn't matter.

He didn't even recognise the being at the other side of the room. Person, creature, whatever it was. It didn't matter to him.

Hello! I saw a post on your blog about something called "the smiler" and it looked interesting but when I went to search for it all I got were results for an actual real world rollercoaster. Do you know where I can read about it?

That's because that's what it is. 😛

The entire premise around The Smiler is almost like its own ARG, created by the designers of the coaster. There's plenty of Youtube videos going into more detail, but basically: An insidious scientific agency is looking to "cure" people of their negative emotions by conditioning them to smile and laugh forever, a bit like We Happy Few. The coaster itself and especially its theme song that fills me with the fear of God is supposed to reflect this sort of twisted, off-kilter, Dystopian-Utopia, topsy-turvy, disorienting headspace while still being hella fun to ride.

The appeal to some peeps in the Discord servers I'm on - and the appeal to me personally, as someone with a tickling, hypno, medical-play/experimentation, and fear/adrenaline kink, is the idea of it using so many different tools to induce euphoria in people. Tickle machines, laughing gas, 'injections' of pure dopamine and bliss, hypnotic screens to further elevate people into a state of euphoria, that taunting laughter that gives me so many heebie-jeebies. And just, being a rollercoaster in the first place.

Obviously the actual Smiler doesn't actually have all of this equipment, it's all just decor above the tracks. And obviously I don't condone the idea of actually experimenting on someone this way, I dislike "permanently brainwashed/broken into laughter madness" scenarios. But all of those methods being used together in one intense session seems absolutely devastating in the best ways. I wouldn't mind being left in a scrambled, giggling stupor for a few days afterwards >////>
