Watch this, with the SOUND ON, then remember the words of Sinclair Lewis 80+ years ago:
"Why, there’s no country in the world that can get more hysterical—yes, or more obsequious!—than America. Look how Huey Long became absolute monarch over Louisiana, and how the Right Honorable Mr. Senator Berzelius Windrip owns his State. Listen to Bishop Prang and Father Coughlin on the radio—divine oracles, to millions. Remember how casually most Americans have accepted Tammany grafting and Chicago gangs and the crookedness of so many of President Harding’s appointees? Could Hitler’s bunch, or Windrip’s, be worse? Remember the Kuklux Klan? Remember our war hysteria, when we called sauerkraut ‘Liberty cabbage’ and somebody actually proposed calling German measles ‘Liberty measles’? And wartime censorship of honest papers? Bad as Russia! Remember our kissing the—well, the feet of Billy Sunday, the million-dollar evangelist, and of Aimée McPherson, who swam from the Pacific Ocean clear into the Arizona desert and got away with it? Remember Voliva and Mother Eddy?. . .Remember our Red scares and our Catholic scares, when all well-informed people knew that the O.G.P.U. were hiding out in Oskaloosa, and the Republicans campaigning against Al Smith told the Carolina mountaineers that if Al won the Pope would illegitimatize their children? Remember Tom Heflin and Tom Dixon? Remember when the hick legislators in certain states, in obedience to William Jennings Bryan, who learned his biology from his pious old grandma, set up shop as scientific experts and made the whole world laugh itself sick by forbidding the teaching of evolution?. . .Remember the Kentucky night-riders? Remember how trainloads of people have gone to enjoy lynchings? Not happen here? Prohibition—shooting down people just because they might be transporting liquor—no, that couldn’t happen in America! Why, where in all history has there ever been a people so ripe for a dictatorship as ours! We’re ready to start on a Children’s Crusade—only of adults—right now!"
It's here. And if we don't stamp it out now, the future holds much much worse.

why pay money to a company that actively supports israel's genocide in palestine when you can just pirate all of these shows in hd like less than a day after they drop? /gen
Then pirate it ✨👍✨
I'm going to be very honest while believing in good faith you're not trying to be hostile. Please don't go into someone's ask box and talk politics, war, and genocide if their blog doesn't invite it. I don't post real world stuff often, if ever, for a range of reasons and I'm going to assume you're trying to be kind and compassionate so I'd like you to extend that here. You just don't know what headspace anyone is really in, this could really mess with someone for just potentially enjoying a show.
Personally I found this a bit rude and accusatory at first but if I want to ask you to extend some benefit of the doubt my way it's only right to extend the same yours. And honestly I'm sorry I originally read it so negatively. I never want to be a person that discourages compassion or empathy.
You don't know how I'm watching the show, IF I'm actually watching the show, just that I used Disney Plus as a # and that I'm at least interested in the show itself - excited we might've gotten it earlier then expected! That is not an endorsement of Disney itself or a call to action to pay for their subscription service. If you can/know how to pirate then go for it, if you personally don't want to even watch the show then that's fine too.
But there's no 100% pure, innocent, ethical way to enjoy anything. Everything in life has it's draw backs, Disney already has always owned PJO down to the publishers of the books. Disney owns a lot of things to the point it's scary. Protest with you wallet and don't give Disney your money. Let the mouse burn, that's completely fine. But don't tear yourself apart trying to be perfect and ethical in every way. Keep caring about the world and I hope your day is wonderful 💖

Fandom: Star Wars, The Mandalorian, Din Djarin
Word Count: 1908
TW: Angst, Pain, Burn, Accidental Self-Inflicted Wound, Abandonment, Grief, Loneliness
This is set at the start of Episode 5 of TBOBF and contains some spoilers.
Tumblr media
“You are such an idiot. I told you not to use that thing until you had more practice. You’re lucky you just burned your leg instead of cutting it clean off!” You heaved Din through the corridor with his arm slung heavily over your shoulder. The smell of his burned flesh traveled with you. “And just so you know since I doubt you can tell through your helmet, it smells disgusting.”
Din just grunted, but you hadn’t really expected much else in response. You had warned him over and over it was a bad idea to use the Darksaber until he knew more about it, but as usual, Din didn’t listen to you.
“Why didn’t you just use the spear instead? You’re much less likely to impale yourself on that.”
“The saber works better,” he muttered.
“Yeah, well how did that turn out for you?” Once again, your comment was met with silence.
The two of you had just turned over your bounty and Din finally had the answers he had been looking for about the location of the remaining Mandalorians from his old covert back on Nevarro. And while they were here on the space station not too far from your current location, Din’s self-inflicted injury was making it difficult to reach them.
The further you traveled, the more he began to lean on you. Soon, it felt like he had his entire weight resting on your smaller frame. Finally, you groaned, “You know, I could use a little help here. I get that it hurts, but I can’t drag all this beskar much farther.”
“Sorry,” he mumbled as he tried to stand unaided. But with a groan, he collapsed back onto you causing you both the tumble to the floor.
Sitting up, you sighed, “Here, let me look at it.”
“I’m fine.” But even through his modulator, you could hear the edge of pain in his voice.
“No, you’re not. I can’t fix this, but maybe I can do something that will at least ease the pain some until your people can patch you up.” You turned to start looking through the bag that was slung over your shoulder.
“I said, I’m fine. You don’t need to do that.” He struggled to rise to his feet once more, but you held him down.
“Will you just shut up and listen to me for once?” When he reluctantly stopped struggling, you chuckled as you shook your head. “I swear, sometimes you’re worse than the kid.” The smile instantly dropped from your face as you realized what you said. You turned away and began rummaging through your bag once more.
Din nudged you softly and laid his hand on your shoulder. “It’s okay. I miss him too.”
You turned back to face him, unable to hide the sadness displayed on your face. “I know we did what we were supposed to do, we got him back to his people. Yet sometimes, I just want to track them down and bring him back to us….. But then I have to remind myself that there won’t even be an us in another hour.”
He squeezed your shoulder gently. “I’m sorry.”
“Yeah….. me too.”
You pressed a bacta patch against the burn and though he tensed up momentarily, Din’s body soon sagged in relief as he rested his head against the wall. You could just picture what he must look like beneath the helmet at that moment: his dark curls framing his handsome face as his big, brown eyes fluttered closed in relief. You knew what his creed means to him and what kind of sacrifice it had been to remove his helmet to save Grogu, so you never told him that his image was seared in your mind. That from the moment you laid eyes on his unmasked face, you had been able to think of little else.
Even before you had caught a glimpse at the man beneath the armor, you had loved him. Though very intimidated by the stoic warrior when you first met, over time you had gotten to know the kind, loyal, brave man behind the beskar. And though he often got on your nerves or tried your patience, you soon found yourself enamored with him. Yet, it was painfully clear he never saw you the same way. You were a friend, a fellow fighter, a protector for Grogu, but nothing more. And if there had been any doubts in your mind whether or not he could love you in return, they all evaporated the moment he told you he wanted to track down his tribe thus leaving you alone once again.
After a few minutes, the bacta seemed to have helped enough to get Din on his feet once more. Though he still leaned on you for support, it was nowhere near as heavily as before. And in what seemed like no time at all, the two of you were standing before the supposed entrance to the secret home of the remaining Mandalorians from Din’s old tribe. The two of you gazed at the door, unsure of what to do next.
Finally, you cleared your throat and said, “So….I guess this is it. This is where we part ways. We got the kid back to his people, now you can be back with yours.”
He hesitated for a moment before saying, “If it was allowed, you know I would ask you to come with me, but that is not…”
“That is not the way. Yeah, I know. And I would never ask you to break your creed.” You try to put on your happiest face, suddenly envious of Din’s helmet and its ability to hide emotions. “But hey, don’t worry about me! I was fine on my own when you two found me and I’ll be fine on my own now. But Din… take care of yourself. I won’t be there to patch you up if something goes wrong this time.”
He nodded. “Thank you. For everything.”
“No, thank you. Thank you for giving me a family again. Even if it was only for a little while.” You quickly stood on your toes and placed a small kiss on the visor of his helmet. Then, before he could have a chance to react, you grabbed your stuff and hurried away. You didn’t want the last image of you that Din saw to be one with tears rolling down your cheeks.
Tumblr media
The next 24 hours were some of the hardest you had to endure for a long time. While you had gotten used to being on your own since your family was killed when you were still a child, this new kind of loneliness hit you much harder than you had expected. Even after months of him being gone, you still kept listening for Grogu’s soft babbles and coos as you walked through the crowds. And now, yet another sound was missing as you kept unconsciously listening for the slight clink of beskar sliding against itself or the soft swish of Din’s cape or the tread of his boots. They were all these little details you didn’t even realize you had become accustomed to until they were gone. And now, even in a crowd of hundreds, you just felt so alone.
The earliest ship off the station wasn’t leaving until tomorrow so as the night wore on, you found a small alcove by the spaceport where you could hide out for the night and get some sleep. You knew it was dangerous resting in a public space like this but you didn’t have enough credits to find any actual lodging. So, holding your blaster close to your chest, you buried yourself as far back into the shadows as possible and tried to get some sleep.
A soft nudge to the bottom of your boot immediately snapped you awake some hours later. Before you were even fully aware of what was happening, your blaster was drawn and pointed at the intruder. As your eyes finally focused and you recognized the man in front of you, you slowly lowered the gun in surprise. “Din? But how…. Why… What are you doing here? Why aren’t you with your tribe? I thought…. I thought I’d never see you again. Did something happen?”
He looked away, “I was asked about my helmet…. I couldn’t lie.”
“Oh, Din…..” You stood and placed your hand gently on the side of his helmet as you turned his head so he was once again facing you. “I’m so sorry. But you did what you did to save the kid. We would have never been able to get him back without that sacrifice. And if they can’t accept that, then you don’t need them.”
He nodded softly, but you could still sense the pain emanating from him. He had just lost everything he had held sacred his entire life and you could not begin to imagine what he had to be feeling right now. And, unfortunately, you knew you were about to make it worse.
As you lowered your hand, you said, “I am so sorry about what happened. I truly am. But I have to go. My ship leaves soon.”
“Where are we going?”
You took a deep breath. “Not we. Me. I’m going alone.”
“Why? I thought-” he started but you cut him off.
“Din, you left me. I get I was always just a means to an end. A little extra protection for the kid and someone to watch him while you went off on your latest adventure. But I am not going to join up with you again just so you can leave me as soon as you find a way back into their graces. So, I’m sorry, but this is where we have to part ways. For good.”
“You don’t mean that. You know that isn’t all you were- all you are to me.”
“You left me because you thought you had found something better. Why the kriff would I trust you not to do that again? When we lost Grogu…. I was hurt and I needed you, but all you could focus on was finding the rest of your tribe.” You stared down at the ground, unable to look at him. “I thought we had a perfectly good tribe right here. But you proved otherwise.”
Din tried to cup your face in his gloved hand, but you shied away. “You know I never wanted to leave you.”
“But you did. And I’ve had too many people leave me over the years to let one of them come back just so they can leave again. If they would have overlooked your transgression, I would have never seen you again and the only reason you are here now is because you don’t have any better options. And I will not be someone’s second choice. So, thank you for everything you gave me and everything you did for me but now it’s my turn to choose to walk away.” And with those final words, you turned your back on him and left.
You didn’t hesitate even as you heard him call after you. He had made his choice and now you have made yours. And as much as you wished you could trust him, you couldn’t chance it. He had already broken your heart once and after also losing Grogu, you knew you weren’t strong enough to survive him breaking it again.

JK Rowling's Nazi Crime Denial And Why It Matters - Council of Geeks
Please watch all the way through. 25:20 is where she starts to explain a bit more the harmfulness about Rowling's escalation. This is a specific example of what I'm talking about when I remind people of the boiling frogs slowly analogy of how radicalisation works. This is what the Nazis did and it's what fascists continue to do to this day because it's extremely effective.
