Badger Cereal Fic Recs

I am heinously picky when it comes to fanfic, so for those of ya’ll hungry for badger cereal and in need of good fics: COME GET YA’LL’S FOOD.

1. (we are) the fault line by @iguessyouregonnamissthepantyraid . This is my number one favorite dp fic of all time, tho... it’s not technically badger cereal? Danny’s only in the fic for like, 2 seconds, but it’s still got parental/protective Vlad and found family, and it’s flawless so I’m including it anyway. A basic summary is: Sam, Tucker, Dani, and Valerie team up with Vlad to rescue Danny from the government. Road trip fic featuring angst, hurt/comfort, buckets of found family, and incredible humor. Word count: 46k

2. How to Mentor a Troubled Ghost Child by @ectopal (and its sequel oneshot). This is my second favorite dp fic of all time, and it’s an actual proper badger cereal fic lol. Quick summary: Vlad has a mini-crisis and starts to work on getting his life together, starting with how he treats Danny. Enemies to friends to mentor/mentee, hurt/comfort, EXTREMELY FLUFFY AND WHOLESOME. Word count: 23k

3. Humans and Ghosts by RedGhost1010. I think this was one of the first dp fics I ever read. Not centrally focused on badger cereal, but it comes into play in the last one or two chapters, and I at least was surprised and delighted by it. Quick summary: Danny’s life is basically just falling apart, largely because Jack and Maddie aren’t the best parents. Angst warning, Danny whump, lots of Good Sister Jazz, protective Vlad at the end. Word count: 26k

4. Overshadowed by @whereonceiwasfire . This fic’s a commitment but it was a super cool read; the fight scenes were awesome and I was vibing so hard with the badger cereal. Basic summary: College-age Danny is having a rough time and it just gets worse when a certain enemy- heck, you could even say his ultimate enemy- comes back for a rematch. Fic is 95% heavy angst, some crumbs of h/c, heavy focus on badger cereal, character death and it might not be who you expect, epic anime-style fights, not sure if you’d call it a satisfying ending but it’s an ending. Word count: 142k

5. Untethered by @life-jim-but-not-as-we-know-it (”draculard” on AO3). This is a brand new badger cereal fic that was posted only a week or two ago, so only the first chapter is out, but that so far is excellent. the Official Summary for the fic: There was a dead boy on Vlad Masters’ doorstep. So far featuring angst, hurt/comfort, big Danny!whump and protective!Vlad. Current word count: 486 words

6. Conspiracy by @elowenp . Super cute oneshot! Vlad’s not actually in it, but it’s still about badger cereal. Quick summary: Jazz (and friends) are trying to convince Danny to stay with Vlad since his parents are constantly trying to kill his alter ego. Humor and fluff. Word count: 1.5K

7. Still Better Than Google Translate by Hollyflash. I legitimately laughed out loud reading this one. Basic summary: Danny reluctantly asks Vlad to teach him Russian. This isn’t an overly spectacular idea, and it almost immediately dives off the rails. Humor/comedy, Vlad’s suffering is hilarious. Word count: 2k

I probably have more in my ao3 bookmarks that I’ve forgotten, and I’ve got a bunch of potentially good fics I’ve saved for later that I haven’t read yet, so if I find any more good ones I can reblog this or make a second post with them! :)

It's been a long while since last I'd been active in tumblr, but I figured getting to meet new people would be worthwhile as I've made my comeback!

To start, I answer to many names but primarily- you can call me Clay or Danny. I hoard names like a possessive dragon (/lh), but that's also in part due to my kin-list and I carry their names around proudly. (And also the fact I'm a system)

I'm bodily an adult, 23 years old to be exact and counting! I use they/them pronouns, though neos are fair game at times (such as pup/pupself and ghost-themed pronouns).

It doesn’t happen all at once, but it seems to.

It’s like he collapses in slow motion, silent, sound muffled in his ears. At first, Trip doesn’t know what to make of the strange color his friend’s face is turning. As if a sunburn is spreading from jaw to temple. That whole left side is swelling too, in a strange asymmetric way.

The captain is already out of his chair. Vibrant, but controlled concern in his voice. Trip feels himself follow. He looks to the head of their table.

Their host does nothing, his features carved into apathy. His security, flanking every door to this massive hall, remain still.

He joins his captain on the floor, panic rising as he realizes how badly Malcolm is struggling to breath. Archer pulls the slim blue epipen from the armory officer’s uniform and injects it in his thigh. He hears Phlox’s voice on the end of the comm.

Trip finds his attention wandering back to the man still at the table, watching the affair with cool detachment. He remembers, briefly, the odd look Malcolm gave when he saw their host’s face from Enterprise. Trip had asked then, casually, if he knew him. His friend dismissed the idea, and that was that, apparently.

Or apparently not, it seems.

Happy Birthday, my dear! I hope your day was memorable and full of joy!

If you are looking for episodes of the show to watch, check out 1x04, 1x16, 1x24, 4x11, and 4x22 to start. There are some other eps with some slight whump so really it's worth watching the entire series :) Beware of 4x22 for an ambiguous ending that is never resolved due to the show being canceled.

For fics, I haven’t really run across any that made me want to bookmark them and share them with others. I did find a rec list once that I will try to track down for you, otherwise, I suggest searching hurt!trip on AO3, or some similar search. If I find any I like, I’ll mention them in the comments.

And of course, if any of my beautiful followers out there have any Trip whump fic recs, please share!

I have several headcanons about the after effects concerning trip tucker and desert crossing

-hes always easy to overheat and gets cold even easier

- he has several sweaters and tee shirts in engineering

- it took days to get him back on his feet and Archer was there the whole time

-archer gets nightmares that he wasn’t able to save Trip and it keeps him awake at night thinking of what could have wrong

hey so at 3am last night i decided it would be fun to write how danny died in my personal canon (or amity parker as i'm calling it atm) and it's uh strange so i'm forcing it on all of you

(also pls note that i've never seen memory blank and all of my knowledge on how danny canonically died comes from listening to the theme song religiously and hearing other people talking about it so this is kindof a trainwreck)

okay p similar to how he died in canon

the trio were all just hanging out at his house alone,

(jack and maddie were out shopping or at dinner or smth anf jazz was out with friends)

and sam was like "hey don't you have a punched hole through a weak spot in our dimension in your basement"

yes i stole that quote from gf whatcha gonna do abt it nerd

and tucker realizes how fucking sick that is and danny (begrudgingly) takes them down to the basement after a few minutes of begging

and bc danno has been surrounded by this shit since birth he's just kinda like "okay big metal hole in the wall can we go now ://"

n sam is like "actuayl the portal is fucking awesome?? at least go look in it or something man how are you not interested in this"

so ofc danny is just gonna stroll on in and out like some madman who doesn't even care about my carefully constructed story i stole from a transphobe

but bc tucker is interested in tech and labs and other nerd things and is also not a damn heathen he makes him out on his hazmat suit over his clothes before going in

(minus the detachable ww2 mouthy breathy part bc that's just annoying for me to draw in my redesign)

(also they slap the cool dp logo on a little after he becomes dead spiderman)(so like 2 months after maybe)

and sam, seeing all the wires and tools n shit all over the floor of the portal just goes

s: "k i want you to go see all the cool stuff hidden in the metal hole in ur wall but i'm not letting you go in there in some old ass worn out converse and eating shit bc you stubbed your toe on a ghost wrench or something. switch."

d: "dude it'll be fine i'm just gonna go in and out, no big thing"

(it would in fact be a Very Big Thing but shh they don't know that yet)

s: "just wear them you latex wrapped rat man"

and she just kinda forces him to wear her docs bc i really really want phantom's shoes to be docs and i am god in this scenario

so danny goes in and he's just sorta walking around bc apparently the portal is deep as hell

and he does the classic phandom trope of trips on wire and catches himself on the on button

he's got maybe like a split second of blaring warning alarms before he immediately starts getting deep fried

i'm too lazy to write whump rn but imagine the most loud and horrifying and earsplitting siren you can conceive

and now imagine that same sound but it's a dying 14 year old boy screaming it and add unhealthy dose of having you flesh meat and muscle torn from your bones and you're being electrocuted, birthed, killed and created all within a split second

but none of the neighbors hear it bc the lab is soundproofed for ✨plot convenience✨

n then it just kinda. stops.

the portal shuts off, danny stops screaming but it's unclear if it's bc mans is no longer in pain or if he's dead

and his body just drops to the ground

tucker and sam fucking book it over to the probably corpse of their best friend and sam slips a little on the way there

is it bc now she's just in socks on hard linoleum floor? is it bc her tears are on the floor? idk but they're both very dramatic
