I think the funniest criticism of T’Pol has got to be when people say things like “She’s been around humans long enough to understand X” or “she should be able to read between the lines of Y” as though any confusion or misunderstanding is solely down to dishonesty on her part.

I’m not saying our Vulcan bestie excels at emotional honesty. She definitely lies sometimes. (usually to herself)

but

I have lived amongst neurotypicals my entire life and I still misunderstand what they want regularly.

I have lived in this country for twenty years and I had to consult Google today to figure out whether my colleague jokingly called me a stripper. (I’m still not completely sure.)

Cut my girl some slack. Damn. Humans are confusing.

I finally watched The Sound of Music and like I get it now, I get it. 

It’s a beautiful two hour love story of a strict man finally opening his heart again and then a fifty minute public service announcement to hate the nazis. Brilliant.

oh my god. most of life really is about the little things. a good haircut, a nice playlist, trying a new recipe that turns out well, a poem that hits home, a comfortable spot in the sun, spontaneous messages, a pen you enjoy writing with, tea with the right temperature to drink, buying that thing you’ve been eyeing for a while, a warm bed. yeah. im so grateful for the little enjoyments

So this morning I put on my new glasses. (They’re cute. I like them a lot.)

But then I caught a glimpse of my reflection, and for a split second it was my grandma looking back at me.

and oh god it hurts it hurts it hurts

but underneath that?

I’m so fortunate to have been loved so well for so long. I’m grateful for all the pieces of her I carry in my heart and apparently my face.
