5.) James "Jem" Carstairs- The Infernal Devices Series

My actual HUSBAND. I love, love, LOVE Jem to death- he's the literal sweetest, most patient angel a person could ever ask for. His big shining moments are of course in the Clockworks, but throughout the entirety of the Shadowhunter Chronicles he's just such a sweetie? I'm rereading the series in prep for the Lost Hours trilogy and I've been reminded of how much I love him.

4.) Therion- Octopath Traveler

Listen- I adore him? I love Octopath Traveler, and I'm loving Octopath Traveler 2 recently. I can't say for certain who's my comfort character yet for the new game, but the OG? This man. Sarcastic, speedy, kinda dumb but in the best way? He's a bit of a Hawks-like character only more cynical. I could yell about him for hours, that's how much I love him. And he's a Theif! :D

3.) Langa Hasegawa- Sk8 The Infinity

Snow baby- my literal angel. I love him so freaking much it hurts! Langa is a doll and deserves the entire world plus some. He was an instant fave for me when I started watching Sk8- something I hadn't expected! (I was for sure it was gonna be Cherry who took my heart and soul! Like- he did. But Langa got there first). Just look at that SMILE!!!

2.) Misturi Kanroji- Demon Slayer

This wouldn't be a comfort list without Misturi! My babygirl- the sweetest angel of the Hashira who deserves only happiness and love. Sometimes I pretend to be her when I have to do something brave because she's such a strong and optimistic character aljerjajkrekrakj But yes- my girl!

1.) Chigiri Hyoma- Blue Lock

Is anyone surprised? Love at first sight- this one. I relate to Chigiri's backstory so hard? I tore my MCL back in middle school, so not the same ligament but definitely a relatable recovery story. Between that, his entire character, and the fact I am WEAK for fictional redheads; my newest comfort character has arrived! (Also just realized Chigi shares at least one attribute with everyone previously mentioned. This was destined to happen kjdarkjekjreajkr)

This is a rare cheerful highlight on what is a playlist that's mostly a lot of self-pity and regret, and it's on the playlist because I have this strong conviction that it is a song that I believe that Caina would enjoy listening to. TOP 5 FRUITS!

OKAY SO

1. Strawberry. Everyone bullies me for having this as my favourite fruit and after having a lot of mediocre strawberries sometimes I'm like damn... Maybe I AM lame... But then I have a GOOD strawberry and it's fucking transcendent. Strawberries are the best fruit hands down. And they're so cute too!! And the flowers are pretty!!!! One day I will get a tattoo of a strawberry

2. Mango. Discovered mangoes through Costco dried mangoes and then had a fresh one (as fresh as you can get in a tiny fuckoff nowhere town) when I was like eleven. We bought it and then I had to wait like a week for it to be ripe but god bending over a mango with juice dripping down to your elbows feasting like some kind of feral fruit bat. Unbeatable. Plus mango as a flavour in smoothies is sooooo good

3. Pears. Man one of the camps I lived at for school had a pear tree in their yard and I got sooooo spoiled for ripe pears. And a pear cider is so crisp and juicy and it's like apple but more subtle? Man. I had a pear pastry once that fucked so hard I saw god

4. Crabapples from my Nana's house. This feels like cheating but the apples there are maybe 1.5in in diameter and they're so sweet and crisp. She's got three other kinds of crabapple trees in her yard but these I can literally eat bucketfuls without stopping. I can imagine them perfectly. One time we made applesauce from literally every crabapple tree we could find--four at my Nana's, four at home, one at the old church, one on the street--and we made THREE REGULAR RUBBERMAIDS FULL. That was Fall 2012 and we still have jars of that in our cellar.

5. Plums. My Nana used to have a little plum tree that made like two plums a year. I didn't used to be a plum appreciator because I was a child with no taste. But once you've had fresh black plums that are tree ripe there's no going back. I do think it helps that plums grow where I live so they just taste better than other fruits because of how ripe they are. Man when the flesh peels perfectly off the stone. When the skin breaks under your teeth. Fuck dude. Also there's that one little prose about the dad going to buy plums for his daughter and it makes me ugly cry. Like thinking about it right now is making me tear up. I love plums. The fact there's no plum emoji is homophobic.

#and fuck the writers and devs who thought it was even remotely okay to make this shit a gimmick #I'm over here with my life path irreparably altered due to mental disorders I've been medicated for since I was eleven #and had for who knows how long before that #and seeing all of my friends who have had an equally shit time. many of whom are disabled by their mental illness #many of whom have received shit from other people and organisations including hospital and police ON TOP of #the shit they were already have to deal with #who have dealt with huge amounts of abuse and stigma stemming in part from horrendous portrayals just like this #who deserve so much love respect and compassion for what they've gone through #and instead it's THIS. I'm playing through a game expecting nothing #and yet they manage to make a character that is a MOCKERY of an issue that is so sensitive to me #that I've struggled with for a long fucking time and that many people I care about have struggled with too #AND GET IT SO FUCKING WRONG #that's what really gets me!!!!!!! the complete disregard for the actual emotions motives and experience associated with it #do five goddamn fucking minutes of research #and you'll see that that's not how it is at all. that's not remotely how it works or why people have that issue #the complete and utter lack of regard compassion or even BASIC RECOGNITION of the people who are affected by this in the day to day is #staggering #I don't know what the fuck else to say. it's horrifying #it's not more horrifying than anything else in this fucking dlc or following this theme in tes as a whole. it's all bad #but this affected me a lot more bc of the nature of the issue they're bastardising. #anyway. #if you read all of this... that's embarrassing for me lol I'm just yelling #but don't worry about me I'm honestly fine. just frustrated #I really didn't expect to be blindsided by something that as I said is a personal issue to me in such an insensitive way #so it exacerbated my feelings about the dlc #but outside of this and when I'm not thinking about it I'm okay #so don't think I'm having a breakdown or anything. #however if you want to commiserate with me about this dlc please fucking do because I'm so full of yelling about it #anyway #fay rants
