Genshin SAGAU x Reader. Part 2
You know, when people degrade themselves, saying horrible things about themselves.
So you made a rule that when you hear EVEN ONE thing that degrades themselves, they will be punished personally by you.
It involves lipstick💄 so if you don't like wearing lipstick and being a ✨️bAdDiE✨️ then this ain't for you.
Characters: Xiao, Scaramouche
Tumblr media
Xiao
Tumblr media
You were trying to find Xiao, you also made some tofu for him. You were about to call him until you heard him. You heard him saying not good things about himself and you publicly said about the rule so you sneaked up on him and hugged him. He was surprised, panicking that you saw him vulnerable, and weak. He tried to get away but your inhuman strength was no match.
"Xiao, remember the rule I made?"
"I'm sorry your grace, I didn't mean to! I'll gladly accept any punishment you give me."
He looked at you, wondering what you were getting out of your pocket. A lipstick? Why? (Oh, He was about to know.) You were putting on the lipstick, (idc if you are a dude, YOU WILL.) And looked at him smugly. You grabbed him and kissed him all over his face, he was a blushing mess! Poor xiao, he's still processing. If you kiss him anymore, he might just be redder than your lipstick and ascend to the celestials.
"Xiao, the lipstick is gonna be hard to get off. This is the punishment. Now everyone can see how much I love you! Also, here's some tofu for you."
He was covering his face with his mask and grabbed the tofu, disappearing into particles. He didn't want to admit he enjoyed it. But the only problem was that Ganyu or Zhongli was asking why was there a smudge of pink, reddish on his face. He was blushing and tried to change the topic.
*bonus*
If you tease him more about it, he will be a blushing mess but silently saying that he didn't mind it, he thought you didn't hear him but oh, you heard everything loud and clear. You will so gonna tease him about that later.
Tumblr media
Scaramouche
Tumblr media
You were in your bedroom, reading. You were halfway through finishing the book when you heard a crashing sound. You thought it was just one of the vases that fell off of the table, but you were too tired and just put down the book and went to sleep. You felt a presence next to you, you opened your eyes to see Scaramouche holding you tight, crying. He kept repeating the same words, 'Don't leave me, I'll be better, please! Don't abandon me again!' You woke him up and comforted him. He was saying shitty things about himself again. As much as you wanted to just stay silent and let him bathe in your warmth, you had to remind him.
"Must I remind you about the rule? I must punish you now."
He began to hold you tighter.
"Idc how bad is the punishment, so please don't leave me!" He cried harder. Silently begging you to not let go, when you got up and went to your closet.
You got your lipstick and quickly put it on, you grabbed both of his wrists and kissed all over his face.....as the same thing as Xiao, but worse. He is malfunctioning, saying random muffled words that you don't understand but didn't give a damn. If you tease him a bit more, he will scoot away and begin pointing fingers at you. His ego and pride won't let him admit, he wanted you to do more and maybe slyly scoot closer for you to kiss him even more. Well the next day, he didn't even try washing it off. No one would dare ask him about it unless they want to suffer the wrath.
*bonus*
If you were gonna tease him about it, he will just change the topic or say that you are shameless!
(Sir, you are the one who didn't even try to wash it off properly)
~
Part 1
Next part will be albedo, diluc. If you want, you can ask me to do other people.

A Complete Compilation of SAGAU Disney References (pt. 1)?
AU: Disney, Mama Tofu, Genshin Impact Cult
Genre: Crack
Word Count: 363 words.
WARNING: Informal writing style, subtle cult themes, gender neutral reader
Description: An exclusive collection of the Disney moments that their Grace and the Mini-Creator have reenacted in Teyvat.
Misc: These were copied from previous asks that I’ve submitted on Shiro’s blog, as well as some bonus snippets that I wrote in the process. Interaction appreciated! (But please do not disclose my existence to Shiro) Remember, reblogs help more than likes!
-Tangled-
Mini-Creator: “Oh, no no no no, this is bad, this is bad, this is really bad…”
Mini-Creator: …
Mini-Creator and Mama Tofu, simultaneously: “They just can’t get my nose right!”
(Bonus)
Impostor AU and the authorities are all very confused because they should’ve heard some word about the two impostors now, but why haven’t they? With Ningguang’s backing, Diluc’s intelligence network, etc. it should be a piece of cake, right?
Well, if only a certain other impostor hadn’t replaced Albedo’s portraits with counterfeits that depicted them with horribly dysfunctional noses. Maybe they could’ve been caught by now.
-Brave-
Mini-Creator: But whyyyy? I don’t want tooooo :(
Mama Tofu: “I am the queen. You listen to me.”
(Bonus)
Random Acolyte A: See? That confirms it! Their Grace is the queen of all gods, meaning that the Mini-Creator should also be a god!
Random Acolyte B: Hm, seems sensible, seeing as how they know everyone’s birthdays, favorite foods, darkest secrets…
-Brave-
Mini-Creator: (invites Childe over for dinner)
Mama Tofu, who doesn’t really like Childe: “No weapons on the table.”
-Tangled-
(Lantern Rite)
Mini-Creator: Standing here…
Everyone: ?
Mini-Creator: It’s oh so clear…
Mini-Creator: I’m where I’m meant to be…
Mama Tofu: (stifles laughter)
Everyone: We’re glad you feel at home here, your Grace :)
Mini-Creator: “...and at last I see the light~”
-Frozen-
(Post-Sakoku Decree)
Mini-Creator, prancing around Inazuma: “‘Cause for the first time in forever!”
Mama Tofu, too occupied with convincing Ei to join as Elsa:
-Tangled-
Mama Tofu: (brushing her hair)
Mini-Creator: “Flower, gleam and glow~”
Both of them hyperventilating when it actually glows:
(Bonus)
Impostor AU where Mama Tofu and the Mini-Creator inevitably suffer some serious injuries from being hunted day and night. Nothing fatal, fortunately, but enough to disable smooth motor function.
The Mini-Creator and their mother slump down near a large tree (doesn’t matter which one), exhausted from sneaking around and avoiding their looming demise. Mindlessly, the Mini-Creator begins brushing out a few tangles from Mama Tofu’s hair.
“Flower, gleam and glow~”
Then the tips of her hair start to shine a brilliant gold, shortly before the wounds on her body begin to close.
Maybe survival wouldn’t be that difficult after all.
(A/N: If you think of any other fun references, you’re free to share! :3 Now I'm almost inspired to write a fic about this...)

Let's Talk About PingXie: Part 3
PingXie Fanfiction Vocabulary
Or "Some Words in PingXie Fanfiction That Can't Be Translated Properly by MTL" XD
Here is a list of words that I found interesting, and occasionally appeared in PingXie fanworks. Some of these words, I couldn't find the exact equivalent in English, so excuse me for the long explanation. My friend helped me but my knowledge is still limited (^~^;)ゞ
It's not a complete list (and kinda random). Please note that they are mostly used in PingXie/DMBJ fandom, I don't know about other fandoms. I may add some more, if I find it again.
【1】 窗户纸 (mtl: window paper) : it's like a trope where they're being so ambiguous and the status of their relationship may not be revealed, but everyone also knows that they are lovers. It's a special connotation of symbolic objects in Chinese culture, refers to two people who have a very deep love but did not confess to each other, their feelings are hidden in the heart. Other people also know that their relationship is similar to lovers but they did not say it. It's like a layer of window paper has not been pierced.
【2】 捅窗户纸 (mtl: pierce the window paper) : it's almost the same as the previous one, but they come to the realization of their feelings and confess to each other. They end up together, become lovers.
【3】 论坛体/直播体 (mtl: forum body/live broadcast body) : something like Social Media AU, but it's often on the forum instead or written in forum style.
【4】 竹马 (mtl: bamboo horse) : a male childhood friend
【5】 校草 (mtl: school grass/school bully) : the most handsome boy in the school
【6】 沙雕 (mtl: sand sculpture) : funny and silly
【7】 骨科 (mtl: orthopedics) : incest
【8】 伪骨科 (mtl: pseudo-orthopedics) : they are brothers but not real siblings
【9】 清水 (mtl: clear water) : no description of s*xual activities
【10】 破镜重圆 (reunited after a broken mirror) : they meet again after separation which is usually not in a good way/unreconciled
【11】 本传 (mtl: biography) : refers to the main story of DMBJ
【12】 杭州名木/杭州著名木头 or 吴邪,杭州一块有名的木头 (mtl: Wu Xie, a famous piece of wood in Hangzhou) : it's like comparing Wu Xie to the wood, because he is being oblivious and insensitive, he doesn't notice that Zhang Qiling loves him haha. There is a meme based on this lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meme source: I forgot where I got it, but there's a watermark in it. The picture on the right is translated using mtl with some corrections, sorry for my poor translation (๑•﹏•)
【13】 铁木真/铁・木・真 (tiě mù zhēn/temujin) : it's not Genghis Khan here, it's a pun or a joke about Wu Xie. It's like the previous one, but added one more element.
"铁" (tl: steel/iron) for "钢铁直男" means he is a straight man of steel
"木" (tl: wood) for "杭州著名木头" means he is the famous wood in Hangzhou
"真" for "天真" Wu Xie's "Tiānzhēn"
【14】白月光 "bái yuèguāng" (mtl: white moonlight) : the first love that can't be forgotten
【15】 吴山四美 "wúshān sì měi" : four beauties of Wushan(ju)—Wu Xie, Zhang Qiling, Xie Yuchen, Hei Xiazi
【16】 嫩牛五方 "nèn niú wǔ fāng" : a group of five people—Wu Xie, Zhang Qiling, Pangzi, Xie Yuchen, Hei Xiazi
【17】 挨千刀 (mtl: suffer a thousand cuts) : it is used to scold someone, but it is not insulting them. Its tone is more into worried rather than being angry. For example, Wu Xie complains "挨千刀的闷油瓶" in his heart, it sounds like he uses a spoiled tone to show his annoyance.
【18】 醋[瓶] (mtl: vinegar) : jealous [Zhang Qiling]
【19】 墨水[瓶] (mtl: ink) : a slight dark [Zhang Qiling]
【20】 排雷 (mtl: demining) : a setting that you should pay attention before reading, usually it is unacceptable for most people.
【21】 黑金古刀 (mtl: black gold ancient sword/black gold ancient knife) : Xiaoge's sword
【22】 大白狗腿 (mtl: big white dog legs) : Wu Xie's dagger
【23】 发丘指 (mtl: hair mound finger/Faqiu finger) : Zhang Qiling's two long fingers
【24】 哥嫂 : brother and sister-in-law, refers to Zhang Qiling (哥) and Wu Xie (嫂)
【25】 吃软饭 "chī ruǎn fàn" (mtl: eat soft rice) : a slang that means men rely on women to survive
【26】 吃豆腐 (mtl: eating tofu) : something like taking advantage of others, teasing or flirting, etc.
【27】 PA : parody
⚠️ NSFW Terms ⚠️
【28】 脐橙 (mtl: navel orange) : a wordplay of "骑乘" which means r*ding
【29】 水煎 (mtl: boiled water/water decoction) : a word play for "睡奸" which means somn*philia
【30】 Doi : same as ML (from English "do" and "i" from Chinese "Love" (爱 "ài")
【31】 双龙 (mtl: double dragon) : a man gets r*ped by two other men at the same time, in this case, it has the same meaning as "两瓶一邪" (both of the 2 Zhang Qiling, 1 Wu Xie).
【32】 爆炒/炒 (mtl: stir-fry/fried) : erotic content/explicit s*xual content
【33】 QJ : r*pe
【34】 XP : s*xual fetish
【35】 SP : sp*nking
Some of them courtesy of 小粉蛇 (PinkSnake). Thank you for all the help!🌹

Tumblr media
Another night of Xiao cleaning up a hilichurl camp, his pace quickened in order to end the ordeal as quickly as possible. But so did Xiao’s heart, odd.
Why must his heart beat at an instantaneous pace? Was it from combat? No. He’s grown accustomed to battling throughout his years especially with fighting mere hilichurls. This occurrence is common, so why must he feel this way now?
After he finishes off the last hilichurl, he sighs and puts away his spear. Wiping the blood off of his face, he still feels his heart thumping at a steady but agile pace.
He clutches his chest with his right hand. He wishes for the feeling to stop because it’s starting to get on his nerves. He knows it wasn’t from the fight or exhaustion. So why? What’s the meaning of this warm, and adrenaline-like feeling? Was his karma debt finally consuming him whole?…No.
He’s still alive, and breathing. His heart’s pace has not faltered despite it all. Xiao’s patience is running thin. He wants answers, but nothing comes to mind.
He groaned and ripped his hand off of his chest. He glances at his right hand and opens up his palm. Observing it with his precise eyesight. “What is this feeling… It’s nothing like my karmic debt, but why does it hurt? But not in a way that it affects me. While it’s a warm, and serene feeling, it contradicts how this painful strain in my chest feels.”
Xiao’s head shoots up. His eyes slightly widened as he may have come to a conclusion. His breath hitched and he covered his mouth in embarrassment. A light pink tint appeared on his cheeks. His heart beated faster than before. “This.. I.. refuse to believe such inglorious things.” He released his hand from his face, “I must calm myself.”
In an attempt to calm himself down, he teleported to a quiet field. This field in particular is one of his favorite places to relax in, or at least to enjoy the solitude it provided. But if he could get unluckier, he noticed you minding your business to pick up some flowers from afar. If only his keen eyesight lied to him.
Xiao gasped and quickly teleported away from you. You hear a gasp and turn towards the source of the sound. There was nobody there. You were confused, but shrugged and continued to pick some flowers.
Xiao teleported to a random mountain in the outskirts of Liyue. He looked around to make sure he’s truly alone and once he’s confirmed he’s by himself, his eyes glued to the ground. That accidental appearance did not help soothe his beating heart at all. It’d only made it worse.
He could feel his face start to burn and as hard as he tries to shove away the feeling, nothing works. Panting, he attempts to whisper the following words, “I.. I have feelings for them, don’t I…? But how could this be? In all of my years of suffering not once have I felt this way for a mortal before.” He squeezed his eyes shut and crossed his arms. He scoffed, “Tch.” His eyes slowly opened and his gaze softened. “….What if they’ll leave me too?”
Xiao shook his head vigorously, refusing to think you’d do such a thing. You and him have spent numerous times together doing various activities. Spending time during lantern rite, eating almond tofu together, and even playing in the snow at Dragonspine with him. So the thought isn’t valid at the slightest. But deep inside, he doesn’t want to hurt you. He didn’t want to hurt you with his karmic debt, because he knows how mortals like yourself are fragile.
He choked on his breath and his teeth gritted. Xiao looked up at the sky, now conflicted with his feelings and ideals, but was interrupted by hearing footsteps coming his way. He quickly summoned his spear and got in a battle position, ready to strike at whatever’s coming his way.
“Xiao, don’t worry. It’s me.” That voice. That euphoric voice. The same voice that talked with him for hours, the same voice that put him to sleep one night, the same voice that’s yours. Xiao’s entire figure turned into melting butter. Putting his spear away, he lets out a swift apology.
“I’m sorry Y/n. I wasn’t aware that it was you who'd arrived here. But..” His eyes trailed towards the flowers in your hands and then up at your own. “What brings you here?” He completely ignores the pounding of his heart.
You’ve been staring into the Adeptus’ amber eyes for a short while, and because of that you jumped a little when you heard him ask you a question. “Oh! I’ve come to give you some flowers I’ve picked up at a field. Here!”
Your hands moved closer to Xiao, trying to give him the flowers you’ve graciously picked just for him. And while Xiao’s heart practically malfunctioned at the simple kind action and was internally freaking out over how close you two are, he still managed to keep a stoic face on.
“Th..Thank you.” He takes the flowers off of your hands.
Well, he ‘tried’ to keep a stoic face on. He couldn’t be serious about this, especially if it’s about you. He almost slapped his face over how he sounded. But you smiled at how cute Xiao looks. You could see how pink his face is, so you mentally pat yourself on the back for that. “Of course, also the flowers weren’t the only reason why I’m here.”
Xiao’s eyes widened as if he’d seen a ghost that actually scared him but he’s preparing himself for what you had to say. His ears are wide open.
“I have come to terms with this recently, so..” You took a deep breath, your heart beating a little faster from the nervousness, “I like you, Xiao. I do.” Now, when you were honest with how you felt so quickly, at an occasion like this, it almost made Xiao’s knees buckle.
Though, it was as if a huge weight had been lifted off of him after hearing those words from you. He was glad he was wrong about you leaving him. Because he, too, feels the same way for you. So his now beating heart has reverted back to a calm pace.
But what he didn’t expect is for his body to move on its own and his arms wrap around your figure. The flowers in his hand were discarded from the action. You were caught off guard at the action, the sudden warmth emanating from his body made you feel at ease. You slowly wrap your hands around him and your eyes flutter close. Embracing the shared warmth.
The Adeptus was internally yelling at himself for doing such an action. Scolding himself, fighting himself, he wishes he was able to leave but he can’t. He mutters out apologies in a panic and when he was going to let go, you tugged him closer to you. Not intending to let go just yet. Xiao flinched at your action, but he didn't say anything. Though he could feel his entire body burn not just from the embrace, but how his feelings had exploded inside of him.
He closes his eyes, melting into your embrace. His head resting on your shoulder. As the two of you are comfortably feeling each other’s warmth, in a comfortable silence, Xiao whispered his own confession to you.
“I like you too. You’re the only one who made me feel such feelings that I’m unfamiliar with. However..” Xiao tightened his hold on you. “I can rest easy now that you feel the same way for me. As well as not choosing to leave my side all this time. So..”
Xiao’s head moves slightly away from your shoulder to remove a lock of your hair away from your face. For a few seconds of getting lost into each other's eyes, he cups your cheek. “Thank you for staying with me.”
A millisecond after saying that, you clashed your lips onto his. Xiao made a squeak of surprise, his arms raised up at your bold action. But he moves his arms to wrap around your waist, pulling you closer to deepen the kiss. His flowers sway with the wind.
Inside his mind, he was aware that you’re not immortal like him so you aren’t able to live for long. He promised himself he will make your years as memorable and safe as they can be. Even if it meant putting himself at risk, that’s fine. Because he loves you and you love him.
He will protect you and care for you for as long as he can. Xiao will make your time with him worth it. Your smile is what drives him to be the best he can be. It’s the source that can quiet his karmic debt. Turns out, he does have a purpose.
You as a whole is his purpose.
And that’s what matters most to him.

Unusual Dionysus devotionals:
Basket weaving - baskets are sacred to Dionysus, hence the epithet ‘cittophorus’ meaning basket-bearer.
Do drag/cross dressing - one of his epithets was ‘pseudanor’ meaning ‘false man’, which you could interpret as being related to cross dressing.
Eat meat - another of Dionysus’ epithets was ‘omadios’ or flesh eater, alluding to human sacrifice. I wouldn’t try cannibalism though. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, try a meat substitute like a beyond burger or tofu.
Make a thyrsus with foraged objects - find a pinecone, a large stick (or fennel stalk if possible) and some ribbon. Carve the bark off the stick and sand it back. Glue the pinecone to the top and wind colourful ribbon around it in Dionysus’ colours (purple, gold red, green etc).
Go deer hunting - make sure you or whoever is shooting is a brilliant shot, as you don’t want the animal to suffer. Go through the process of butchering the animal, eating the meat and tanning the hide to get close and comfortable with the cycle of life and death, which Dionysus is a big part of. Wear the deerskin when you go into altered states. I’ve never gone hunting, but my neighbour is a brilliant shot and shoots wallabies when the local population becomes to big, because otherwise the wallabies starve to death with not enough food in the winter. A quick, painless death is kinder and the meat isn’t wasted (yes, you can eat wallaby), and we don’t end up with overpopulation. PLEASE DO NOT HUNT BIG GAME. Seriously. Safari hunting is unnecessary and targets endangered species for the purpose of having a trophy. I know Dionysus wore a leopard skin, but stick to fake leopard fur. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, there are lots of faux furs you can use instead.
Save the bees: honey is a favourite offering to Dionysus and it was said to drip down his thyrsus. By planting bee attracting flowers and not using potentially harmful pesticides, you can help your local bee population. You can also set up a ‘bee hotel’. Purchase local honey if you can! My dad is a beekeeper and he takes so much pride in keeping his bees safe and healthy, but lately everyone’s bees have been dying. It’s really distressing in the beekeeping community, and likely due to a mix of pesticides and climate change, where flowers aren’t blooming due to the weather.
Attend a pride parade - dress as a satyr or maenad and attend pride to celebrate the queer aspect of Dionysus. People will love your costume - I promise. For a satyr, little horns and deer makeup are cool. For a maenad, wear ivy in your hair and loose white clothing. People go to pride in all sorts of clothes so you won’t stick out.
Visit the graveyard where your relatives are buried, or a local graveyard if you don’t have relatives buried near where you live - Dionysus is associated a lot with the dead, and one part of Anthestria was pouring libations on the graves of the deceased. DO NOT TOUCH RANDOM GRAVES. A lot of the time it’s disrespectful, especially in certain cultures. As I don’t have relatives buried in my state, I visit the local graveyard and just sit there, listening to the sea and feeling at peace. I also read about the people buried there and pray that they are at peace.
Go thrift shopping for things he might like - take Dionysus thrift shopping with you and buy things you are drawn to for his altar. I got these at the thrift store:
Tumblr media
18+
Being a switch - one of Dionysus’ epithets is ‘androgynos’ meaning to take on the position of both female (submissive) and male (dominant)
Throw a modern day bacchanal - invite over a group of like minded people and go absolutely feral. Dance and sing and get drunk and get into a frenzy.

Thank you honey! you are so sweet to me!!!
18. do you miss how things were a year ago?
so a year ago today, I think I was in Porto, Portugal for the first time and it was goooorgeous. Gorging myself on food and having lots of naps in the sunshine. Compared to today, suffering through heatwave in London with covid and feeling miserable af. So yes... 😂 definitely miss it.
31. 3 random facts
1. I have no sense of geographic location. 2. I'm obsessed with corgis. 3. I love silk tofu pudding.
45. how you found out about your idol
Oh... hmm I guess the first thing to figure out is who is my idol? I don't know if I have one? If it's favorite muse/hyperfixation celeb/flavor of the month, it's Oscar Isaac. And this is going to sound strange but I feel like I can't remember the "moment" i found out about him? He just always was there? I remember when I saw him in Triple Frontier (during my Pedro Pascal phase) going "oh, that's the hot guy from Star Wars". And when I first saw the new Star Wars trilogy, I went "Oh! that's the guy from Ex Machina/Llewyn Davis!!!" The moment my hyperfixation began when I started writing Homecoming, and then I started going oh I love this blorbo let's read some more on him. And then I read some of Luna (@writefightandflightclub) stuff and fell in love. And then Moon Knight happened. and now there's no return.

Forget Me Not: Glaze Lilies and Qingxin?
Xiaolumi one-shot Rating: General Tags: Fluff, pining, Slowly falling in love Word Count: 1778 AO3: Here
Summarry: “It’s you, I remember you” - inspired by this line in Xiao's quest. I wrote this as my headcannon that Xiao has a habit of forgetting every mortals he meet but ever since he met Lumine, it's difficult to forget about her and he wish to be a bit close with her
Every day, every month, every year, every century, has always been the same for Adeptus Xiao. The Karma that accumulates with him, taint him and other living beings and it’s been spreading. Nothing new to him, he has faced countless monsters that have been tainted by the karmatic that bigger and stronger. Even so, he only needed the anemo power from the vision, and his jade spear in hand to exorcise demons, and free the tainted living beings from the karmatic that only he must suffer with it. No human beings, animals, not even the demons from the abyss had to pay the price.
This is Xiao’s responsible as an adeptus, this is how he protects Liyue harbor. Yet, he silently yearns to experience the new wonders that the mortal humans that live in Liyue has offered to the world. But wonders to him are like little firefly, fleeting little beings that are sensitive to the prescenes of humans. If the thought of experiencing wonder ever sparks within him, the pain of the karmatic binds would extinguish it with a blink.
He’s loneliness is to protect others from himself. Sometimes he can’t help but wonder. Will he one day wear the mask not to excorcise demons, but to dance in a field of flowers? Foolish imagination. He thought. If it ends then it ends. He has does not held high hope, but he is living being too. To dance in a field of flowers, is his yearning.
____________________________________________________
“It’s you, I remember you” A girl in white dress with feathers and…Glaze lilies, Qingxin? He dosen’t recognize those flowers in Liyue or anywhere. Her little floating friend, yes, it’s her with the sigil of permission, why can’t he forget about her? And until now, he couldn’t understand why he can’t seem to forget about her.
She’s a mortal and he is an adeptus, he has duty, a responsibility for centuries. He forgets mortals that visited him or the ones he saved from danger so that they won’t get hurt by being with him. He conquers evil but the mutation, the karma spreading onto monsters and demons sometimes it’s uncontrollable. The mortal traveler, Lumine. He still remembered her name.
Why is it so hard to forget about her?
Why is he seeing her everywhere she goes in Liyue?
He had told himself that he is patrolling to looks for signs of demons to exorcize like usual but he always saw her and the floating companion sometimes with three people with her from afar but so close. Too close.
Fate is bringing them together, Xiao thought of a simple random answer something maybe Ver Goldett would say to a love strucked visitor from afar at the inn. That is just pure senseless imagination, it’s ridiculous. Adeptis do not indulge in such imaginations that only mortals can imagine it. Better not think about it at all then for his own sake.
He said that but then she starts to visit him at Wangshu Inn, offering him almond tofu and satisfying salad. Not only that, she just wants to see how he’s doing with his karma? She does not need to waste her empathy on a cursed being like him. Yet, the karma is bearable when she visited him more often.
She and her companion sometimes spoke about their jobs of taking commissions, requests, the ruins they’ve encountered on their journeys and the tales behind it. Including treasures they found and they challenges they faced, sometimes they did it with their friends that they’ve made. At first, it didn’t matter to him but he just listens to them and give advices when travelling in Liyue. Then later on, he finds himself enjoy listening to Lumine’s story, her voice seems to calm him down. He can’t explain it but calm is what he felt. And sometimes she would cook him food with mild taste and he gladly accept it.
Her sweet voice, the way she’s iridescent under sunlight or moonlight. She had eyes like Cor Lapis but something more beautiful would describe it perfectly. The flowers on her hair are odd and exotic. He’s never seen such a pure white flower with soft light glowing like moonlight perhaps that’s the reason why Lumine looks so, ethereal not just beautiful. A part of him wants to know about her and maybe they can be friends and more than that.
What is wrong with me? But it doesn’t hurt?
Strange.

Two Qingxin and two Glaze lilies wrapped together with a pink ribbon. Xiao looks in the mirror to make sure that all the dirt and demon blood and scent are no longer on his body. He does not want her to worry of him when she comes to visit.
“Lu..mine, I have some flowers that I picked up,”
What is he doing? What is he doing? What is wrong with him? Is he sick?
“Lumine, I picked up these flowers because you seldom offer almond tofu to me when I did not ask for it, and, these flowers are for you, Qingxin for your, cookings, And glaze lilies to put it in your hair,”
Was it really glaze lily on her hair, he swear he does not recognize the flowers on her hair and it dosen’t look like it’s preserved like Hu Tao’s flowers on her hat. What is he even saying? He sounds just like those love struck humans that acts ‘odd’(the only word he he could describe it) and this is out of his character. Right, he wants to repay her kindness. Her kindness that is like a ray of light that eases his karmatic debt. He wants to get to know about her and be with her but just not too close.
Is he in love with her?
Ridiculous
What if she merely pity you and not love you?
Then I just want her kindness, her understanding of my curse and repay it. I, wish to thank her for that.
The voices taunt him, sometimes it caused him to ache his heart and pain in his head. Somewhat he was able to counter the haunting voices. It feels overwhelm when the voices come grabbing him but less painful ever since he met her. He also learned one or two ‘simple’ things from her through his observation and practice a little. Although, normally the solution is to excorsize demons it dosen’t always keep the voices from taunting him with doubts it keeps him busy but the pain and aching in his head remains.
Then, he saw Lumine coming to the inn with a tall man with ginger hair. He seen him with her that time, and his instincts sometimes tell him to take her away from him, tell him to stay away from her, he growls at the sight of him trying to woo her, and she respond with his wits. He wish he could hear what their both saying to each other.
He does not like the mere presence of the ginger haired man by her side especially seeing that he is impressing her like other humans do with their love partners. “They’re not lovers, their just weird friends,” he nearly hissed at himself when the doubts are getting the better of him. He just to repay her kindness, that’s all.
Finally, he leaves Lumine alone. What a strange emotion he just felt. He dosen't even understand what came up to him. He saw her with the blue haired exorcist being bashful and wanting to woo her as well as other man that came with her. He dosen’t feel that instinct that fed him rage for few seconds just now. Strange.
Sorry Lumine, he needs to be alone, meditate, for good measure of this uncertainty that fuzzes his body like ball of yarn tangled and tied in knots everywhere.
“Boss,”
“Yes, Xiao, is there something you like to say?”
“When, Lumine, needs to spend the night here, she can have my room,”
“Oh, very well, I suppose I’ll fetch someone tidying it up then,”
“No, it’s fine, I’ll clean it up,” He hardly needs it even if he’s, tired.
“Oh, I see, thank you, Xiao.”
He stepped in to his room and it was hardly dusty or messy but he makes quick work of using a little bit of his anemo powers. He straightened the blankets and covers of the bed and lay the flowers on it. He wanted to give the flowers to her personally and express his gratitude but he needs to get a hold a himself first and the inn is not a place for him to handle his newfound emotions not even exorcising demons too unless if he happens to encounter it but not now.
He lets out a heavy sigh as he teleports to the river in Dihua Marsh.
___________________________________________________________
Lumine excitedly walks up to the balcony with a pouch that is tied in a pink ribbon in her hand. She searches for him, calling out for his name around the inn. Yet, he was nowhere. She went to Ver Goldett and ask: “Boss, do you know where Xiao is?”
“Oh, Lumine, I’m afraid that Xiao has left just now but he has something for you,”
“For me? From Xiao?”
She couldn’t believe what she is hearing now. Normally, she would be the one that has something to give to him. This is new.
“A gift from Xiao? It dosen’t sound like him at all and Paimon think it’s awkward for him to do that,”
Ver Goldett chuckles at Paimon’s comment
“It’s true, come with me,”
Verr Goldett smile and led them two. To think, Xiao ‘gave’ his room to them, to Lumine to rest it made Lumine’s eyes widen as she takes in his room even though it’s just a normal clean room in Wangshu inn. Her eyes then fall on the flowers tied together on the bed.
Two Silkflowers and two Glaze lilies. Tied together in pink silk ribbon, she caressed the soft petals of the flowers. She is not fond of flowers if it’s not for the purpose of understanding the floras of different worlds but ever since she was separated and left behind by Aether into that, portal, she takes time appreciating it in the teapot.
She began to admire the floras of Teyvat in her palm. Soft, a bit damp with hint of dryness due to being plucked from its soil. Perhaps it’s been plucked in few hours? Better than this strange hard petal, white flowers that rests in her hair. Did Xiao pluck these flowers for her? It could be but is there a specific reason to it?

18/35
59.4kgs wake up. Feeling nice and sore and tired. Coffee and water.
My mom bought me tapioca pudding for lunch, knowing that I’m on a diet, thinking it would make me happy to have something fresh and fruity (“you can cut some mangoes into it”) . Go and explain how much I’ve been suffering from this cut and how the last thing I want is to intentionally kick the bucket by ingesting a food with 100g of carbs per 100g, before counting coconut milk and fruit. It would be impossible to just portion control since it’s not homemade and tends to spoil super quickly (hence I can’t go around opening and sifting through it and expecting it to stay edible till lunch). It really saddens me to have to abstain from things that do make me happy, but I don’t think I could deal with the consequences. This is some classic disordered eating except that I have an excuse, which I guess is somehow worse. Also, I would hate to have to justify eating dessert for lunch at work. All the snacks I turned down would seem a lot more rude.
Anyways, I made myself a nice salad with leftover Tre Cereali and forgot to put some onion in it. Yay me. I’ll be flying for training camp in two days and of course the list of last minute things and people is innumerable and insufferable. I am honestly really not looking forward. It’s so damn difficult to eat properly at camp when you’re cooking for yourself with other people, you’re always fucking tired and yet the pressure is on for racing. I’ll have to try and do as much meal prep as I can, so I’ll maybe buy some Tupperware boxes and make like curry, grilled chicken, okra stew, stuff like that. Last camp all I ate was pasta, bresaola and fucking arugula salad. It was a miracle to get my hands on fresh vegetables.
This morning’s erg piece was 3x3k at race pace. I died again on the third piece but did a better job at keeping the rate. Did 30’ cool down on the watt bike. Had a protein yoghurt, a coffee and a 250ml bottle of sparkling water afterwards. Touched down at the office and drank two cups of water.
For lunch I had a makeshift salad with 80g of Tre Cereali, a cucumber, 6 cherry tomatoes, 6 black olives, 4 tablespoons of corn, 1 chili pepper and two radishes. It was surprisingly filling, had another cup of water with it while chatting with my lab mates.
Spent my afternoon working with randomized cravings for chocolate cake, goat cheese, and yet again, toasted olive bread with butter and pastrami.
Came home around 6pm. Snacked on 6 cherry tomatoes and went in for my second session, 60’ indoor bike. Back hurt a bit throughout. Craved quinoa and tofu; it’s safe to say I’m fucking starving.
59.5kgs post training.
For dinner I had 330gr of baked white fish, and two cups of a green veggie mix: broccoli, green fava beans, zucchini, onion, leek and green beans. Veggies were too spicy so I toned it down with a slice of spelt bread.
Later in the evening I went to have coffee with my dad. Espresso, cup of water, small slice of basbousa (about 200 kcal). I’ll have another cup of water and magnesium before bed.

"the yaksha is fond of you."
madame ping was no stranger to you. the kind old lady roaming around yujing terrace, often seen admiring flowers or brewing a cup of hot tea, was someone you come across every afternoon after school when you head to the censor to make a wish to rex lapis.
the conversation you two have had always been brief, mainly because you were always in a hurry to get to work. she never minded your urgency, blissfully talking about how fast-paced and active young people these days are, and simply being happy that you even stopped to let her hand you some glazed lilies from time to time.
interestingly, though, she stopped giving you glazed lilies after a while and began handing you some pretty qingxin instead.
you never questioned it. it was just flowers. you could live without being gifted only one kind of them for the rest of your life. but after today's incident—after the burning down of your school located just outside the city, as well as what madame ping told you with hearty laughter laced in her voice, you were starting to think the switch to qingxin meant something.
"the yaksha is fond of you."
you tightened your hands around the weak strap of your school bag, made out of bamboo after lots of trials and errors, and you tilted your head with increasingly furrowing brows.
"pardon me, the what is fond of me?"
"the yaksha, my dear."
you stared at her. the corner of your lips was quirking up in confused twitches, and she could see that you were fiddling uncomfortably on your spot because you truly have no idea what she was talking about. it was not because of the history of the yaksha that might have made you feel jittery and out of place, you simply had no idea!
madame ping smiled even harder at your innocent oblivion then. how could you have such ample knowledge of rex lapis and the adepti, but nothing about the yaksha? especially the one with his mark, a jade green glow surrounding you like fireflies, all over your aura?
maybe that was why xiao chose you.
or, at least, it was one of the reasons why he liked you.
it was because you knew nothing of him. you never think about him, you never talk about him, and you would never suspect the string of random good luck and trails of safe travels that have been following you around.
while it must be tearing him down on the inside; the fact that he wasn't being able to approach the one person who made his good deeds a choice rather than an order. it must be plaguing his mind and patience every day.
but, even then, your surprising lack of information about his identity does save him the pressure of being chased down by you.
it saves him the problem of being even further attached to you. it was already pressing on his breaking point when he went out of his way to watch over you, leaving trails of his magic over your mortal soul to keep you safe when he was busy. any further interaction would be disastrous.
logically, he knew he would fall for you, so he was doing preventive measures. he has to keep his chest sealed so his heart wouldn't jump toward you involuntarily; he has to keep his chest sealed so you couldn't see all the mess inside.
"oh, sweet child," madame ping cooed as she walked toward you. she whispered to herself, "you're being protected by an adeptus and you don't even know."
she brought up a qingxin from her pocket, the petals slightly wrinkled from the confined space. she tucked it carefully in the pocket of your shirt before patting the bloomed flower, almost as if she was reminiscing.
"this is his flower," she said.
you hummed, looking down at it. "this is his favorite flower?"
"i'm not sure about his favorite flower, but this is his flower," she replied casually.
you pursed your lips together. well, at least now you knew the qingxin did have something to do with the... yaksha... or whatever.
"madame ping... may i ask–"
"you can find him at qingyun peak," she cut you off calmly. "during the lantern festival. he is always there during the festival. it was for the quiet, he said, that old man."
you shut your mouth, surprised that she knew what you wanted to ask. "uh... qingyun peak... is kind of... a big place..."
"you will find him if he wants to see you," she said. "you can speak his name–xiao. he might not show himself to you, but if you have something to say, he's likely there to listen."
qingyun peak. the lantern festival. the yaksha.
right.
that was how you found yourself bearing the freezing night cold with just a thin shirt and a ragged fabric wrapped and tied around your torso, your hands hurting from grabbing sharp edges and rough rocks, and your anxiety increasing with every jump that not only would the almond tofu in your bag fall, but you would as well.
as opposed to watching xinyan play for the lantern festival, being warm and cozy from the warm city lights and the tasty street food, and maybe even letting go of a lantern yourself after making a wish, you were here. you were alone, climbing mountains for a chance.
all for a random boy madame ping told you about! someone who was supposedly fond of you—if this xiao guy was so fond of you, he would have shown himself the first three times you called his name at the bottom of the mountain!
"fond of me–what a joke," you said through gritted teeth as you hoisted yourself up on a small ledge. "i'm going to kick his ass so hard when i find him."
you let yourself pant for a minute, regaining your stamina as you groggily accessed the higher peaks above you. your eyes squinted in dismay, but something inside you—the curiosity for the truth, as well as the longing for a friend, also the anger for playful revenge—urged you to keep going.
"he better eats the almond tofu i made," you muttered to yourself as you moved closer to the mountain. "i even picked some flowers... for him."
jump after jump, you were close to making it to the second ledge when suddenly, a slime jumped and appeared above you. it looked surprised, mirroring your expression, and as it prepared itself to attack you after seeing your hands move, it stopped when it saw you fumble about in the air before you began to fall further away from itself.
you had let yourself go. out of surprise, and an instinct to grab a weapon, your hands moved away from the edge and you fell.
your mind raced as the wind hit your face, your falling body heavy against the current that desperately tried to take you up from the ledge you just climbed up from. you would surely die from the impact if you drop. even without dropping down to the bottom, you would still suffer from a painful death.
was there something to do? how did this happen, you were doing fine! what should you do, what could you do? you were falling already—what was there to do now? anything, something?
"i–archons–" you heaved with the cold air, your lungs squeezing inside you with fear as tears began to drip out of your eyes.
anything? anybody?
xiao?
"you can speak his name. he might not show himself to you, but if you have something to say, he's likely there to listen."
"xi–" your voice broke for a millisecond when you could see the green grass approaching quickly. you squeezed your eyes shut, and your voice was louder than you have ever allowed it to be.
you called his name, loud and clear.
the first thing you felt was a lightning strike. you opened your eyes at the electric feeling to find a flash of green. it was bright, close and bright, in a way that was blinding. but then the tail broke into gentle fragments as a pair of arms circled your body to catch you from the fall.
one arm went around your waist, the other hand securely tightened itself around the back of your neck to keep it from breaking from the impact of his fast landing.
xiao growled under his breath when his feet struck the ground in a heavy blow. he pushed your head to his shoulder, shielding your face away from the soil that bounced upward as a result.
quietness ensued after a moment of calm. you took the moment to access the situation—you were fine. someone, likely xiao, saved you from the fall. you were fine.
he dropped onto the ground, sitting on the cold grass with your body pressed close to his, when he heard that you began to sob from the accident.
despite feeling awkward and unsure, he kept quiet and let you vent out the post-accident fear so you could slowly bring in the relief that you were still alive. but his quietness was unwelcomed when you suddenly curled your fist and hit him across the shoulder.
"screw you! why didn't you just answer me when i–when i was at the bottom of the moun–mountain! screw you!"
you blamed him and you hit his shoulder repeatedly. your weak fist was nothing compared to the pain he has endured in the past, but your cries cut through him like glass in the most seamless pattern when he realized he was part of the reason why you had to go through that traumatic experience.
if he had just jumped down from the peak when he heard you the first time, this would not have happened.
xiao looked at the empty spot before him. his golden eyes glowed with a softness that has long fallen into the abyss, forever gone and forever abandoned. but he brought it back out now because he cares about you, and he is, ultimately, attached to you, and he loves you.
"you're right," he said, holding you close to him. "i'm sorry."
ever since you discreetly left the almond tofu on the roof of the wangshu inn, your shy figure hunched over in an apologizing manner because you were told that you were giving food to an important, albeit weird, guest, and your blissfully ignorant words of encouragement as you told him to go out and explore the world, to give it a chance so he could find people he would like.
ever since then, he has loved you, in fragile and discreet ways, in unwavering and patient ways, in protective and caring ways.
"i love you, i'm sorry."
you stopped sobbing almost immediately, and he was afraid he might have said the wrong thing.
wasn't it what he was supposed to do? verr told him to speak his mind once. just be truthful with his feelings and nothing could go wrong. was he not supposed to show his affection blatantly, as he would his complaints and opinions?
"that... that is going a little too fast for me, xiao," you joked. "let's settle with appreciating each other for now."
he heard you laugh, causing the weight of his heart to drop, like finding lights in a fog, like seeing the lanterns in the night sky and realizing that there are more people alive with you than you think.
"thank you, for saving me," you said kindly then, your fist long stopped hitting him and was now patting his shoulder.
"always."
“but burning my school down is not the best approach for... whatever it was you were trying to help me with.”
xiao blinked in confusion, then realization hit him. he almost forgot about that! he was, shockingly, dwelling in the prideful fact that because he literally destroyed the building, you would be free of school for the day, and therefore not having to face all the hardships inside the walls he could not venture past. he thought it was the best thing to do, second to beating up everyone, which he politely opposed to.
“i am not sorry about that,” he muttered. “it was what i thought was best.”
he could feel you grin in his embrace. your laughter reverberated in the air, making his magic glow around you both. it was like nothing he has felt before. he wanted to stay like this—in this position where you were engulfed by him, where he could surround you with himself instead of the fireflies of green he has left behind, where he was with you in a way it was entire, in a way he could feel your beating heart against his own.
you are pressing onto his breaking point.
you are going to open him up, see him whole, and renovate his insides to your will. you are going to take his heart from his chest, breaking through his ribcage made feeble from his sheer affection for you, and claim it as your own. you are going to make him love, like sharp knives, like soft breaths, like tragic past, like warm blood, you are going to make him love.
you are pressing onto his breaking point.
and xiao lets you.
because you will be worth the tragedy, you will be worth everything.

ophichius/body switch soulmate au +xiao or childe pretty please? for xiao it can be like, when the body switch happens the reader feels the burden of the karmic debt so xiao starts taking care of himself/leaving instructions on what to do just so his soulmate doesn't have to suffer as much. reader is the traveler, in inazuma and xiao just quietly appreciated being free from karmic debt even for a day, and appreciating inazuma's beautiful sights whilst reader is just. in wangshuu inn. suffering
delicate (hc scenario)
penpal: bless you for such an incredible idea ! hope you like this along with your other request on childe <<3
prompt: ophiuchus the snake, body-switch soulmate au
pairing/s: xiao x gn!traveler!reader
sypnosis: hc on how you and xiao went through the whole day in each other's body.
includes: reader is not aether/lumine and is a random traveler (sorry to anon if you meant by reader being aether/lumine), reader suffering cuz of karmic debt, mentions of physical pain, mentions of violence, pure fluff
Tumblr media
the moment xiao opens his eyes from his quick nap, the first thing he sees is the view of narukami island.
the yaksha was alerted at first, wondering how he came from hunting around dihua marsh for demons to sitting down beneath a tree with a new environment he hasn’t been in before.
it wasn’t until he realized he’s in a different outfit and different body that he found out that today’s the special day.
he hopes you aren’t in too much pain.
he observes his surroundings for a moment, then his eyes moved down to his appearance, only to see an outfit that is deemed fit for a traveler. his soulmate is a traveler in inazuma?
now that the yaksha thinks about it, he has heard the unfortunate fate the people of inazuma has to go through with the new rules that the current archon has set up, with her soldiers taking away people's visions, discrimination against outlanders, and the borders being closed around the nation.
xiao immediately checks around his– or rather his soulmate's– body to see if they have a vision, feeling relieved when he felt the familiar form of a vision hidden underneath his clothing.
all he needs to do is hide the vision and not go to the city, where he's sure a lot of vision hunters will be found.
this shouldn't be too hard, right?
meanwhile, you're currently writhing in pain in your soulmate's body, confused with what's happening to you– or rather, your soulmate's body.
you honestly had never such intense pain until now, how the hell does your soulmate deal with this? did he get a rare illness?
you couldn't think straight, your mind throbbing in pain as your body continued to ache and ache with voices running in your he–
"xiao? are you okay?" you shakily look up at the woman, who was staring at you with a concerned look on her face.
before you could try to let out a word, you immediately dropped on the floor, gasping out from the continuous pain. when does it ever stop? you rather go back to inazuma and suffer their new regulations instead of going through this pain–
"you're not xiao, are you?" she asks, causing you to nod profusely in response as you clench your fists together, closing your eyes shut whilst ignoring the woman, who was busy looking for something in her clothing.
"here." you open your eyes to see her handing you what looked like a pill. as if the woman read your mind, she quickly clarified what the pill is. "it's a painkiller. your uh, soulmate gave it to me and told me to give it to you in case you two swit–"
without letting the woman continue, you immediately snatched the pill from her and swallow it whole.
it took what felt like more than 20 minutes for the pain to finally subside, causing you to finally sigh in relief. although the pain was still there, it surely wasn't as painful and unbearable as before.
by the time you calmed yourself down, you slowly stood up from the cold floor and look at the woman gratefully. "you have my thanks, miss...?"
"verr goldet," she responds with a gentle smile. "i'm the owner of this inn. if there's anyone you should thank for, it's definitely your soulmate. you would've suffered the whole period of your body swap if it weren't for his thoughtfulness."
you nodded in understanding. "i see.. but i still am grateful for you stepping in."
"it's no problem, though i'm sure you're starving right now, would you like to eat?"
"yes please."
unlike what you recently went through in xiao's body, xiao was having perhaps one of the most peaceful time he has ever experienced. after all, when will he find an opportunity to not suffer from his karmic debt in this lifetime?
although killing the opponents who came in his way was a hassle, he still found his time enjoyable– with the exception of his mind thinking a lot about your wellbeing in his body. surely verr goldet must've given you the painmeds, right?
besides that, you must've seen the instructions he left for you– but what if you didn't see it and had to go through so much pain later on?
"please be okay." he mumbled under his breath, letting out a worried sigh and continued walking around the land.
unnoticed by the yaksha, you were indeed okay.
"i can see why my soulmate would love these," you commented to verr as you take more bites of the sweet dessert. "what does he do daily?"
verr lets out a nervous laugh. "to be honest, i don't really know what else he does other than hunting demons around the nation. though, you don't have to worry about doing it since xiao insisted that you can spend the whole day here instead."
"oh..." you look down at your plate with a deep frown. what if there's a demon that's hurting people and you couldn't do anything about it?
before you could ask verr, she immediately looks up at where the reception area is. "i have to go now. if you want to know anything, i recall xiao telling me to tell you to look at the instructions in your pocket. i'll be back!" she said before rushing upstairs to tend to one of the visitors, leaving you alone with your food.
you searched for the pocket around your pants, pulling out the piece of paper and read the list.
"should the pain meds run out, please visit a man named zhongli in liyue harbor."
"don't try to hunt for demons unless you want to experience more pain to endure."
"please come to verr goldet if you need something or require food. almond tofu is the only thing i can stomache, unfortunately."
"do not come to public areas if you have no reason to go there. karmic debt– the pain you're going through right now– can be affective to others."
the rest was all more rules for you to read and you're honestly thankful for xiao to write all of this for your sake, now regretting that you didn't do the same for him. what if he isn't aware of what's happening to inazuma?
you take another bite of almond tofu, silently hoping that xiao is doing okay back in your homeland.
to tell you the truth, xiao's definitely doing alright.
the yaksha had never went out of liyue for a very long time until now. sure, he could admit that nothing can beat the beautiful views that liyue can offer but inazuma is a sight to see.
everywhere he went, he found himself being fascinated by everything in this land, looking through ruins and staring at flowers that he himself hasn't seen in all of his life.
not to mention the fact that the mobs that lurks around the areas are different than the ones in liyue.
he would be lying if he said he hadn't thought of getting you out of the nation and come to liyue harbor, but he knew it wasn't up to him to decide on that. if it weren't for his duty in protecting liyue, xiao would've wanted to try and go to inazuma just to keep you safe, but what if you dislike him after everything you went through in his body? what if you didn't like him because he's immortal–
"they won't think such thing." he mumbled to himself, still slightly taken back by the sound of your voice coming out from his mouth as he sat down in an abandoned adventurer camp he spotted, looking forward to try out foods that he can make with the ingredients he found in your inventory.
as the day went by, you spent there in wangshu inn, writing a letter for xiao to read by the time the body switch is over along with visiting the man who can provide you more pain meds. xiao on the other hand spent time adventuring around inazuma trying to not get caught by vision hunters, enjoying his time without karmic debt.
by the end of the day, as the moon rises, the both of you finally found yourselves back in your bodies– with you sighing in relief that you've already finished writing the letter and not having to be in pain again whilst xiao was happy to be back in his homeland.
you then noticed you're in watatsumi island, your home being not too far away from where you're standing, causing you to smile. who knew xiao unknowingly took you back to where you've been heading to?
xiao on the other hand, was sitting on the rooftop of wangshu inn, reading the letter you left with his heart pounding at the words you wrote just for his eyes.
his shoulders instantly relaxes when he reads that you were okay throughout the day–
his mouth twitches upward when he reads the last words you wrote.
"once i come to liyue harbor and escape from inazuma, i wish to meet you and enjoy almond tofus with you."

Rex Lapis is an ancient god. It’s pretty safe to assume he doesn’t really have any blood relatives besides literal mora maybe.
But there is one adeptus he considers to be like a younger sibling: you.
It was maybe 5,000 years ago or so when you first ascended to adeptihood, but you were still very awkward, stumbling your way through life for a few months.
As most adepti do, you signed a contract with Rex Lapis for a sacred role to carry out, and yours was defending Liyue.
You initially expected to simply have a boss/employer relationship, but the two of you ended up being closer than expected.
Rex Lapis found himself very defensive of you, as in he doesn’t want you to pursue any romantic partners he doesn’t approve of. In the end, most of the mortals were scared off after they received a death glare from their own god because they did not meet his approval. They failed the vibe check.
He would end up acting like an overbearing father at times, which would sometimes result in spats between the two do you, but they’d resolve once you both came around to apologizing to one another.
The other adepti couldn’t imagine acting as casually as you do around Zhongli. He’s much more serious by nature, but typically quite polite and somewhat aloof.
Sometimes if he finds a particularly high-quality piece of jade, he will take it to show you. You try to also show him cool rocks you find, but it can sometimes end up with him listing off all the facts about the particular rock you found. He always enjoys telling you.
With you, he’s more expressive and more casual, as are you with him. You won’t hesitate to tag on him for his questionable fashion choice of a hole in his hood for a ponytail. He might make a benign jab back at you for your fashion choice.
As an adepti, you weren’t told about Rex Lapis’s faked death and how he plotted it himself. So for a short while, you were absolutely devastated.
Rex Lapis, now Zhongli, had to come and find you himself to tell you he was okay before he told anyone else. He didn’t want you to suffer.
You quickly recognized him in his new form, since he pretty much just changed clothes and got rid of the hood. You immediately yelled at him for being such an idiot and not letting you know sooner.
But you quickly hugged him, knowing he’s still okay. Death kind of is the only way out when you want to retire from a divine position.
“You finally got rid of the hood hole, huh, old man?”
“I do not look that old, thank you very much.”

Similar to Zhongli’s situation, Xiao is pretty ancient and likely doesn’t have any blood relatives, so it was another adeptus that he unintentionally let his guard down for.
Xiao is incredibly antisocial so it's nearly a miracle that he paid attention to you in the first place, even more so that you're like a younger sibling to him.
You first met in Dihua Marsh when you were getting your ass handed to you by a particularly strong Ruin Guard. You were only just getting used to your new adeptal powers, so fighting was a bit hard.
He swooped in and defeated the Ruin Guard without a word and left as quickly as he came. You knew of him as another adeptus senior to you. So you decided to thank him in some way and attempt to learn a thing or two from him.
It didn't take long for you to find out he likes almond tofu, which you luckily are quite skilled at making. So you carefully made a dish of it and infused it with a little adeptal energy, hoping to make it taste even better.
Xiao easily fell for the bait of the almond tofu and you managed to catch him in the middle of eating. Before he could disappear with the food, you managed to catch him.
After some bargaining on your end, he reluctantly agreed to give you some guidance in how to be an adeptus in return for you making him more almond tofu just like you did.
Though it took a while, the two of you eventually became very close.
When visiting Xiao and you, Rex Lapis made an off-hand comment that the two of you remind him of a pair of siblings.
And it wasn't a lie. Xiao did consider you like a little sibling. If you were sleeping on the roof of the inn, he'd probably come along and poke you with the end of his spear to tell you something.
He also wouldn't hesitate to let you know when your almond tofu was lacking. In return, he could probably expect to get a piece of raw tofu chucked at his head.
Xiao and you don't really have insult wars, but he can have his moments of being annoying like any siblings. If you want him to lay off, just call him short.
"Shut up about that mitachurl, would you? I already know I screwed up my attack, short-ass."
"I'M NOT THAT SHORT, DAMNIT!"

It’s not up for debate that Scaramouche is a jerk to pretty much everyone. And none has the gall to retort back to him.
Except, of course, his younger sibling.
Even as his sibling, you often find yourself under fire by his snarky commentary, but it's quite easy to shut him up if you make fun of his haircut or height (or lack thereof).
Despite your bickering, the two of you still care deeply for each other.
If he came home injured, which isn't an uncommon occurrence for his occupation, you'd tend to his wounds while calling him an idiot for not dodging properly.
It's one way that you gauge how he's feeling. If he insults you back, you know he's fine, but if he just grunts, sounding unimpressed, then you know he'll need some rest.
His position as a Harbinger also has a pretty big impact on your social life. Everyone knows you're Scaramouche's sibling because of your constant bickering and how you're one of the only people he truly cares for.
Every time you're out with someone, either getting to know someone or on an outing with romantic intent, it always seems to be with the oblivious idiots who don't know your blood relation to the 8th Harbinger.
One day you were out in the city of Snezhnaya with a new person you'd met through another friend. You were in the middle of a one-sided conversation and your attention was slipping.
You don't know if it was a saving grace or terrible luck, but Scaramouche just happened to be strolling past when he greeted you.
"Oh, hello." He said, ignoring the other person's presence. They immediately shut up at the sight of him. You just sighed. You know exactly how this is going to end.
"Oh? And just what business do you have with my younger sibling, hm?" Scaramouche asks casually, but with obvious venom in his voice. You could swear a shadow was cast over his almost flaming eyes.
"N—NOTHING! GOODBYE!" The person quickly bolts off in some random direction to escape the intense pressure of Scaramouche's death stare.
"Ugh, really? Again? You always do this."
"Well, someone's gotta save you from the people not worth your time."

LOVERS' OATH
ft. xiao
warnings: use of xiao's other name, xiao backstory spoilers
notes: gn!reader, angst, second person pov, not proof-read lol
a/n: short n sweet (not really) angst with xiao b/c school kickin my ass rn!!!!!! but dw i have a load of drafts i just need to finish up :p
synopsis: though xiao swore adepti rid themselves of unnecessary feelings such as compassion or sorrow, the thump his heart makes when he thinks of you hurts him too much for him to bare.
Tumblr media
The thousands of years of living had finally caught up to Xiao as he rested his back on the tiles of an inn he frequented. The fatigue he had been building up from fighting monsters and thieves alike had him feeling like he was walking through a thick ocean of blood. Yes, blood. It had to be blood, because he believed it was. The karma he accumulated from the hatred of gods he made an enemy of held him down like shackles in a prison. Centuries of living made him numb to the pain he felt everyday—he was almost thankful he could feel anything at all.
I have to make sure, he remembered the promise he made to you when you left, I have to live until they come home to me. Glancing down at his hands, Xiao watched as they trembled. He didn’t know how long he could hold himself up without you. It’s been too long, he hid his head in his hands, Please, come home already.
His pleads were futile, as the only sound he could hear was the soft blow of wind cutting through the night air. Even his exceptional sense of hearing could not pick up the sound of your clothes rubbing against each other, or the hum of random tunes you often sang to yourself as you walked alone. Even the sound of your feet hitting the ground was like a lullaby to him, a song he would never get tired of. Oh, how he missed listening to it.
It was nights like these that he’d miss you. Watching the harbor from the roof of the inn had been your pastime, a sight you loved and a sight he loved that you loved. Though he only went up there to look at the moon, wishing for death from it, he couldn’t speak a word about such a thing when you were sitting next to him.
He recalled the way your eyes seemed to sparkle whenever you looked at the city in the night. He knew it was just the lanterns reflecting onto your orbs, but he couldn’t shake the feeling of something else being there, something that stirred his suffering heart.
It was you who reminded him of his mortality. Xiao’s perception of living was but a fleeting thought before he met you; all he knew was that he needed to protect his city without dying like his comrades did. When you left, he had realized how much of an impact you made in all his years of living. His days were spent hunting despite the peace due to your lack of company, it hurt him more than karma ever did.
It was on one fateful night that he decided to stop by the inn after a time of not visiting. Verr Goldet looked at the adepti with wistful eyes before giving him a professional smile.
Odd, he commented but dismissed anyway. Before he could take another step up the stairs, he smelt the familiar scent of his favorite dish: Almond Tofu. Xiao followed the scent to the roof, his destination, before landing his eyes on the back of someone familiar.
His voice was caught in his throat. He couldn’t even swallow as he took in the appearance: hair that seemed to glow under nature’s light, skin that looked soft to the touch, hands that looked holdable.
Your elbows were propped up on the roof’s balcony rails, watching the city lights turn on one by one, and he couldn’t help but stare at your figure.
The heart in his chest that he forgot was still pumping felt like it would jump out of his body. With clenched hands, he spoke with a shaky voice, “(Y/N)?”
You turned around at the sound of your name being called. Smiling warmly at the one you loved, you answered, “Hi Alatus.” He cried out in agony as his knees gave in, reaching for you but too hesitant to move. You take the initiative and walk up to him, bringing your hands to his face where he shakily laid his on yours.
You squat down to his level, taking a good look at the man you hadn’t seen for longer than both of you had ever thought. “Were you good while I was gone?” He nodded at your playful banter with a child-like feel to him, making you laugh. “Did you miss me?” The answer was obvious as the tears had not subsided. To say he was crying was an understatement—Xiao was fully sobbing.
“Of course I did, dumbass.” His voice was quiet and hoarse, but it was still the same one you always knew. “I can’t live without you. Please, please don’t leave me again. I can’t take it, please.” You patted his head to try to console him, but he began sobbing harder, “(Y/N)...”
“Alatus, my dear,” you brought his head to your shoulder, feeling tears soak your clothes, “you have to let me go.”
Xiao bolted up from his position to find no one there—no one but a warm plate of Almond Tofu. A silent cry rang through the inn as the feeling of your warmth began fading from his skin; the cold sent goosebumps up his arms.
With weak legs, he got up and walked towards the plate that was simply just made for him. A note he hadn’t noticed before was tucked under the plate, gaining a faint—but still present—sense of curiosity. He grabbed the note and unfolded it, the handwriting being recognized as Verr Goldet’s;
I made this using the recipe (Y/N) gave to us a while back with the help of Smiley Yanxiao. Though it isn’t as good as they always made it, I hope it comforts you at least a little bit. I know how hard it is for you to be apart from them, but one day I hope you move forward from this. Please let them rest in peace, Adeptus Xiao. You must take what you learned from them and continue to live for her sake. They would have wanted that, and you know it too. Signed, Verr Goldet of Wangshu Inn.

The Adeptus’s Temptation (Xiao x reader oneshot)
summary: Xiao watches and reacts to his darling being flirted with by a certain Geo Archon.  angst (kinda) but ends with fluff.
a/n Hey anon, I loved your requests so I decided to do both of them… hope you enjoy it! Thanks for the love and feel free to leave another request (that goes for all of you!)
This is sort of a more in depth version of the Xiao part in the Genshin Jealousy HCs
Also sorry for the delays between publishing, Tea and I have been busy with our personal lives, but we’re trying to write more!
Keep liking and following us, it genuinely motivates me to write.
 Sincerely Coffee

Who would have ever thought that the Conqueror of Demons, the Vigilant Yaksha, the great adeptus Xiao would ever have a significant other that was human. Certainly not you and definitely not him.
Xiao is not someone who is easy to open up and be kind, but you managed to break through his cold and harsh demeanor. A surprise to the adeptus who had resigned himself to living his life alone and far from others. You are someone special to him in a world filled with incompetent and useless humans.
It took some time for him to allow you to spend more days with him and even allow you to initiate physical affection. At first, it came as a relief when you were out doing commissions or just going out to work, he needed his space after all. He was worried about how fast he was falling for you and clung onto the hope that the space he left would allow him to protect himself.
As your warmth and presence grew on him more, a part of him yearned to be at your side and let you closer to his heart. He had put up his icy walls to combat the heartbreak that comes after losing friend after friend, he was distraught with how quickly you broke through to him. He grumbled at your hand holding, but leaning into your touch nonetheless.
Your dangerous commissions started to lessen as he refused to let you take on the most harmful of enemies without him. After all, he had no idea what he would do if he lost you.
Xiao’s favorite thing to do with you is sit at the top of Wangshu Inn or even just the cliff sides of Liyue and bask in your attention and presence. He practically glowed under your loving gaze and from the light brushes of your hand against his. He had known the land for thousands of years and he had seen the most beautiful of landscapes in his time guarding it. He thought that he had seen every stunning thing in this world, that was at least until he met you.
Your bravery, resilience, and overwhelming beauty had completely captured him, and as time went on he fell further and further for you. The life he envisioned the two of you to live together was a calm and peaceful one. He knew it probably wouldn’t be possible with the nature of both of your responsibilities and his own life span, but an adeptus could still dream.
Now as much as Xiao wants to protect you, he can’t really leave Liyue. He’s able to help you when you’re here with him, but he’s essentially powerless when you go to Mondstadt. Of course, he’s entertained the thought of just leaving for a bit and staying by your side to protect you. In the end, he always lets you leave for work with a light kiss to your forehead and a heavy feeling in his heart.
You had accustomed him to your soft affections and gentle mannerisms. He was always reluctant in letting you leave, but he trusted your abilities and simply had to stew in his reluctance when you were gone. He often told you to simply call out his name if you were in trouble and he’d be there in a moment. To this you would simply smile and reassure him with soft kisses to the top of his head. It was a miracle when he had managed to convince you to take on more commissions and bounties in the Liyue area. It made it easier for him to come to your side for aid and also to watch over you. It also allowed for more frequent dates, which made both of you incredibly happy.
You always had the most interesting stories from your time adventuring. When you two were relaxing on loving moonlight nights, he looked forward to the smile on your face when you spoke in detail about your commissions. He was silent and let you speak, paying full attention to you. Xiao loved the silence and peace. He hated when humans would talk for hours on end, it was unnecessary and wasted his time. However, this sentiment didn’t carry on with you.
He often urged you to talk about your day and the people you met. Xiao does everything he can to coax more of your sweet voice out. Your voice had always been like music to his ears. For you, he could bear not being alone. For you, he was carving out hours of his day to cuddle and listen to you speak.
That was until everything changed with your adventuring routes. Previously, right after you switched from Mondstadt routes, the Guild had kept you near the Wangshu Inn and around the Qingce Village area. However, due to increased demand for your services, you had been moved South towards Liyue Harbor. The adventures you went on now were much simpler, but much more boring. You’d complain to your boyfriend about how you had to talk to too many people and how exhausting it was for you. Xiao would listen intently and offer a comforting embrace, silently happy that at least you weren’t out risking your life every day.
His concern began when you moved on from random requests and commissions with different people to a more stable and consistent job. You had accepted a job from the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor as a one time thing, but your skill and agreeability had earned you a more permanent position there.
Your day to day job was to just assist and protect different members with finding and restoring relics across Liyue. However, it allowed you to move around more and actually engage in combat, a welcome change from before. You had helped the director herself, but your favourite employee to work with was Mr. Zhongli.  He was a tall and serious man, but he was powerful and amusing to talk to.
The first adventure you had gone on with him, you couldn’t stop talking about it with Xiao when you came home that night. One adventure turned into ten quite quickly as the two of you made a habit of engaging in all your commissions with the parlor together. Zhongli as your companion in travel gave you a sense of stability and a feeling of safety when you were out in dangerous situations again.
Every night you came back, you told Xiao about the mysterious and strong man’s aid to you. The passion you spoke of his power and of his intelligence in the culture of Liyue surprised him at first. As you kept talking about Zhongli, Xiao started to feel different. He was no longer eager to hear of your adventures because he felt something very strange now.
Xiao has never felt afraid. At least, not truly. He is not afraid of death as he had accepted it long ago. Yet now you had given him something to live for and losing you would leave him back into a pit of despair, suffering, longing, and emptiness. Seeing you gush over the assistant to the funeral director filled him with a new unpleasant feeling. Heart numbing fear.
He was careful to not let you know how he felt. He was nervous that you would view him as pitiful for what he truly felt in his heart. Bile would fill up in his throat when you talked about that man as he held your full attention. In response, Xiao would start to capture your mouth with a kiss if he sensed that you’d talk about Zhongli on your dates. It got you to shut up and restored his happiness for a moment.
He felt guilty for interrupting you of course. Yet, he couldn’t muster up the courage to confront his own feelings of insecurity. The best he could do was try to prove to you how much he could offer. As his kisses began to get more heated, he found it fit to use his strength to carry you back to your shared bedroom.
Out of curiosity, Xiao decided to actually look at this Mr. Zhongli one day. If he was feeling insecure before, oh man, any self confidence he had was now wrecked. The man was absolutely perfect with you.
You were smiling and walking through the harbor-city side by side with the sharply dressed golden eyed man. The walk that the two of you had was powerful. The men and women of Liyue whispered behind you two about how cute the both of you were. Xiao silently watched as you two sat at the tea house and drank tea in silence. Zhongli had never taken his loving and intent gaze off of you. The Yaksha took in more of the man’s appearance. He was much taller than Xiao was and carried himself with a royal sort of dignity. As the two of you finished your tea, the man made a move to pay for your tea by charging it to the funeral parlor. He’s rich too, Xiao thinks sourly. What doesn’t he have? He has enough when Zhongli’s resoundingly deep voice tells you how well you fought today. If Xiao sounded like that he would never want to shut up.
He goes back into his bad habits of distancing himself and retreating back into his own silence. His awful self loathing that you worked hard to remove has manifested itself again and begun lashing out on you. Brushing you off, short snappy responses, and hardly responding to anything. This results in you thinking you did something wrong.
Oh how the adeptus breaks when he sees you try to make him Almond Tofu and various other small gifts to please him. He knows you didn’t do anything, but all he wants is you to free yourself from him and spend your life with someone who could provide so much more than he could.
In your shared bedroom, he would be physically present, but he was silent and hardly even looked at you. He could hear your muffled tears at night when you thought he was asleep. It took everything within him to not turn to you and let you lay your head in his chest and leave kisses across your face after he dried away your tears. It hurt him again when he heard you asking Verr Goldet if she could help you plan a nice surprise for him. As he stayed to listen, he had to listen to the innkeeper give you kind words as you broke down explaining what it was for.
All your advances towards his forgiveness and love go rejected. He decides that it would be better for you in the long run if it was like this. He stays cold, at least until he sees something that pushes him back to your side.
His pity party and moping is interrupted by the strangest feeling in his heart. Something painful crackles and burns inside of him. He’s not sure how he knows, but he feels that something is very wrong with you.
Xiao was not called the adeptus of speed for no reason. The speed in which he reached you was one he had not used for hundreds of years.
You weren’t in any life threatening danger, but the bond that you two shared was. He could see Zhongli gently move a strand of your hair behind your ear. You had a more nervous smile on your face.
“How fascinating, Y/N” his voice breaks the silence, “Your abilities seem to get stronger every day,” he continues praising you.
Your face flushes a light pink and you look down, breaking the gaze between you two. “You’re too kind, Mr. Zhongli, but I wouldn’t have been able to grow so much without your guidance,”
The golden eyed man smiles at this as he leans in slightly closer to you, “In that case, would you like to have dinner with me tonight?”
Xiao clears his throat as he steps out from the bushes and stalks towards you with a glower on his face. You look at your lover in surprise, not seeing or hearing his voice in quite some time.
“Actually, she’s already taken so you can take your leave now,” his words filled with venom. He doesn’t even try to be subtle as he holds his emerald spear by his side in warning to the man who tried to make a move on you.
Zhongli nods, “I understand, sorry for intruding,” as he leaves. Xiao’s watchful gaze not leaving him until he’s far out of sight. Your adeptus moves to your side and engulfs you in a warm hug that he wishes to convey all of his feelings of love into.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have treated you like that, it was unnecessary and you didn’t even do anything wrong. Give me a chance,” he seldom begs, “please,” he adds. His golden eyes piercing into your soul and displaying such regret.
You don’t respond, but you lean closer to him and press your lips softly against his. He forgot how much he missed this.
Oh how stupid he was for not letting you know how much he adored you known more. Well, now he had the time to make it up to you. He brings you towards the cliffside and the two of you sit down together once more, the bond shared between you too also renewed.
As you look at him, he lets you lean on his shoulder and look at the sun’s light beginning to wane as the sky was touched with beautiful pastel pinks and purples.
“I love you, Y/N” he whispers softly as he nuzzles his face into your H/C hair.
“Hmm, I love you too, Xiao,” you respond sweetly and relax under his presence.
The brown haired Archon chuckled lightly as he watched his Adeptus gently place his arm around your waist. He was happy that the cold guardian had finally found someone to love and someone to take care of him in return. When the time was necessary, Morax was ready to bring a contract to let the two of you spend the rest of eternity together, as two soulmates should.
a/n Hope you enjoyed it! Leave a like and some feedback, please.

I had this stuck in my mind for a while. It’s a Xiao headcanon and I was just curious about a few things and this happened. It’s about how he met his S/O:
You met Xiao when you visited Wangshu inn; you’re a musician who had just graduated from Sumeru Academia and had spent a few months travelling around Liyue with a band to find some footing in life
You played at inns and parlours and your recent excursion led you to Wangshu Inn; your band has been booked in to play for a week
But for some reason you feel lost and feeling as though you are meant to do greater things in life and so you’re determined to find your true purpose in life, your calling, somehow
Anyway, so whilst the rest of your bandmates went off to visit Liyue Harbour, you end up meeting Xiao on your first night; you go to the top floor to check out the beautiful scenery, then pull out your jade flute which you had taken with you, placing it to your lips and playing a melancholic melody
And suddenly this handsome young man appears from out of nowhere, standing on the railing of the balcony (Isn’t that dangerous?) and he regards you with piercing amber eyes
“Where did you learn to play that song?” He asks, almost with a tinge of urgency.
“Huh? Oh, um, my mother taught me how to play this song.“
“Then... that flute…”
“It was my mother’s.”
The young man would proceed to leave swiftly and quietly without another word and though you were startled by the random encounter, you’d shrug it off and continue playing
Little did you know, he was seated atop the roof, listening to the remainder of your melody
Next day, you asked Verr Goldet about the strange young man and she tells you that you had met the adeptus who resides at the inn.
“What do you think?” She asked with a smile.
“He seems lonely,” you replied. He’s not quite what you had in mind.
Later, Xiao arrives at Verr Goldet’s desk and asks her about you. “Oh, we invited them from Sumeru Academia.” She says, “and they’re going to be staying with us for a week. You should watch their performance should you get the chance.”
Xiao doesn’t reply but when you come back from your trip and it’s time for your band’s performance, you spot him at the very back, sitting quietly on his own with his arms crossed and a plate of almond tofu in front of him.
He doesn’t exactly like the music your band is playing and is more interested in what you would play as a solo but you don’t have any opportunities for solo performances, and you’re not even playing the jade flute
Therefore, you meet him again when you’re outside, at the top floor
You both look at each other before you grin and say, “What is it? Would you like me to play the flute for you again?”
His expression goes dark and you quickly try to shake off any misunderstanding.
“….Do whatever you want.” He then mutters, but you suppose this means he isn’t against you playing the flute, either
He leaves but as you begin playing, you feel that he’s closeby anyway
(Indeed he is, he’s sitting on the rooftop again, silently watching you play)
Afterwards, you notice that Xiao begins to follow you around though he stays in the shadows and doesn’t appear to you and you pretend not to notice him
You meet him again when you head off to Nantianmen and accidentally get spotted by a Geovishap. You have no experience in battle and believe you’re done for, so you’re surprised when the adeptus appears and defeats the beast. You didn’t see him get hurt, but he appears to be suffering and in agony for some reason after the fight and you’re unsure how to help him until you remember your mother telling you that the song has healing properties so you whip out the flute and play the song
To your surprise, Xiao recovers and when he’s better, you both return to Wangshu Inn and your band are packing up to leave now
Xiao watches you join your group but before you go, he says, “If you ever need help, speak my name.”
Although you know he will never show it nor tell you, he appears displeased knowing that you’re leaving
You ask Verr Goldet about Xiao and why he was in pain and she tells you his background, then she says, “He thinks you’re a slither of good karma that entered his life.”
“He...does?”
She nods. “Do you know how karma works?”
“I guess so,” you say, “What goes around comes around. You reap what you sow etc etc.”
She shakes her head. “There’s more to it than that. You and Xiao must have met before in a different lifetime. And in that lifetime, you are either indebted to him, or he to you. That’s how people are linked, and that’s how you came across him again in this lifetime. Your paths have crossed before and will continue to cross. That’s why you meet people for a reason. It’s not a coincidence.”
Before you leave, she tells you another story. He had once saved a young woman from monsters and she saw that he was in pain. She had nothing on her possession except her jade flute and she played a song hoping to help him somehow. She saw the soothing effect of the music it had on him and with her findings, assisted the author who wrote the ‘Tour of the Land of Liyue’. She had discovered a way to comfort a yaksha.
This flute apparently also contains magical properties and is one of a kind
You realise that your jade flute is the one mentioned in her story and that it had actually been passed from your ancestors to you
And essentially you’re the only person who knows this particular melody and the only person who has this only flute, and something clicks in your brain. You can help ease Xiao’s pain.
You stop walking with your group down the path and everyone turns round.
“What’s wrong?” They ask.
“I’ve found my calling.” You say with a smile, before you rush back to the inn and drop your bags at the door. “Ms Goldet!!” You exclaim, “I’m sorry if this is a strange request, but is it possible to give me room here for as long as I want? I mean... in exchange for board, I can provide entertainment.”
Verr Goldet is confused for a split second but then she realises what you’re trying to do and smiles. “Of course!”
Later that night, Xiao wakes up in pain but it quickly dissipates because he hears the song.
Strange, he thinks to himself. You should have left, no?
He leaves the room where he sees you playing the flute on the balcony. You don’t stop playing but you manage a smile at him
He will scowl at you for a moment but you know he’s glad you’re here
From that moment on, Xiao begins to sleep a bit better at night

(posting this here bc cc wont let me post it all at once...it just a list of some of my fave lines frm my xv fics)
who am i darling, to you?
— He’s been in this form for so long, bound to the earth, that he’s forgotten what it feels like to fly.
— It remembers when it was once a storm, an impassable wall of violent gales much like Xiao’s. It remembers. And Barbatos does, too.
— That a want this chasmic could be overshadowed by a need.
— Because suddenly someone has the power to hurt you in a way no one else has.
— When Venti leaves, he brings the storm with him.
— “It’s okay to be happy.”
— They’re times he doesn’t want to remember—war-torn and blood-stained memories, screams that haunt him—so he doesn’t.
— And maybe he’s thinking what Xiao never let himself think. And despite that, despite never saying it, he can still never go back.
— The colors never lie. But this one is trying to.
— There’s more to these words, Venti knows, that catch on his tongue, stick behind his teeth.
— “There is no being who does not fear. It is an aspect of life, as all else is.”
— How do you ask someone to touch you? Even just arm on arm or hand on hand. Just the simple act of being touched without being hurt. It feels like asking for something he knows he doesn’t deserve. Something that’s not allowed. How does he ask for something he’s not allowed to have? To ask would be to admit he wants, and to admit he wants is to admit he feels, and to admit he feels is to admit he can be hurt. To admit he can be ruined with nothing but words.
— “I would go with you to the end of this world and into the next. To the end of this life and every life after. I would go with you anywhere, for as long as you would have me.”
— No matter how much want he has, it will never be enough, because Xiao will always, always choose Rex first.
— If I have to cut through the very threads of destiny, then I will bring a knife and I will come out alive.
— “You are life itself. And everything worthy of being divine.”
— “The grief will never end. It is the unfortunate truth of loss. You will always carry it with you. But it will find its place. You will learn to live around it. There will be days when it seems immeasurable and pervasive. But most days, it will rest within you quietly. All you can do is accept it for what it is. Once you do this, it will settle.”
— In that moment, almost three thousand years ago, he was the divine and I was the damned.
— Savors the memory of warmth that still sleeps on his skin.
— With golden eyes and pale skin silver in the moonlight, Venti discovers the pure ecstasy of Xiao’s loving hands on him. On a random mountain between Jueyun and Tianqiu, he discovers how it feels to have the stars burn beneath his skin. Against the wood of a sunset-red maple, he discovers what his name sounds like within Xiao’s prayers. Between the beads of sweat dripping down his chest, he discovers the depth of Xiao’s devotion.
— So he burns it into his memory. He burns it into his memory now, so when the dark cold eventually returns, he can pretend to keep himself warm.
— I did not deserve your unwavering devotion, though I know it is the only devotion a child has to give.
— And, suddenly, Zhongli isn’t as big. No, maybe it’s just Xiao who isn’t as small.
— Suffering feels safe because it’s all you remember.
— “We return to each other as water returns to shore. The tide is endless. Trust in it.”
— "You are the greatest of us all, Xiao."
— He loves Mondstadt. And...and Mondstadt loves him.
it’s just a little crush
— “Aiya...he’s got almond tofu for brains, I swear.”
depth of devotion
— Worship doesn’t need to be demanding.
— This is how I worship.”
this side of paradise
— You’re pretty punk for a Buddhist monk.
all my nights taste like gold
— The kind of hurt that makes you feel alive.
— “I feel I was born to love you. Akin to the act of breathing, it is an instinct and choice in one. It comes to me easy and without thought, and to choose not to might kill me.”
divine but not devout
— When Venti wakes up, he wakes up alone
there’s less glory in a rising sun than in the day that your life begun
— The feeling Xiao has, in these quiet, tender moments, that it’s a beautiful thing to be alive.
and i know i’ve kissed you before
— These moments are important, because they decide their fates for the rest of their lives: Venti wears green, Carmen wears blue, and Xiao wears purple.
— “You’re both ridiculous. We’re practically adults now. We’re watching Ratatouille.”
— There’s a handful of inches between them, and chasm within those, in these moments. He waits and waits and waits. But Venti never asks to kiss him again.
— “I am so glad I played with you in the rain.”
— “The first step is always the hardest. Because it is the only step you must take on your own.”

I love the more classic nicknames too but my brain just comes up with random nicks that stick with me at times
Yes yes Aether is just a sunshine angel (I don’t talk about anyone enough the way I see it,,I could ramble on for ages if I did www)
You and me both but he can’t throw a Jade Spear at us if we’re carrying a plate of almond tofu now, can he-
No yeah I love the nick ‘storm cloud’ for Scara too much that it’s gone to the point that whenever I see him or read something about him my brain automatically goes “oh hey it’s storm cloud” I also call him ‘my spark’ for a more endearing nick(he’s like a spark of electricity anyways-)
- 🔒
Oh yeah definitely, I love love loooovveee ‘darling’ or ‘dear’, so simple but so effective !!
No trust me I would just not stop talking about Albedo but I don’t like to spam too much. If I ever make a spam blog I’m telling you it’ll just be me rambling about albedo non stop until someone asks if I’m good, n the answer would be no, because I’m suffering from obsessing over albedo. N occasionally others.
hehe give him almond tofu n he will let you be near him for five minutes until he starts chasing you again, may even be able to give him exactly 1 headpat
Storm cloud, my spark, those are just too cute, lil lightning, lil squishy man (another one we’ll have to run away from) ah no I love scara, I would love to see more of him in the future. At first I did think he was the typical asshole, which is still good but eh not particularly interesting? but with all the new lore that dropped he’s shaping up to be a very intriguing character. Kinda like Rubedo (Ruby my sweet baby), a failed specimen/experiment, but still sentient enough to be considered a living thing and to have their own thoughts/ideals, and neither one of them are happy right now. Justice for my artificial boys >:/
