hello to everyone that had a tumblr they forgot about but was reminded by the bird app shenanigans

welcome back, have a seat, get comfy. we have a few unspoken standards that might give you some culture shock coming from twitter so let me help you out!

use tags to add appropriate trigger warnings to posts you make/reblog

DO NOT censor words in your tags, the whole point of them is that you can hide posts with certain tags. so if someone has posts with the tag "#tw blood" hidden, they still see posts with the tag "#tw bl00d"

you are supposed to like and reblog old posts. it's part of the fun, I promise nobody is gonna judge you for reblogging a piece of fanart from 5 years ago, NOBODY CARES

speaking of reblogs, reblog to your hearts content! unless you're a gimmick blog or using tumblr as a portfolio you should reblog stuff you find cool, funny, important etc.

remember: the goal is NEVER to be tumblr famous, this is the only site where it's explicitly a bad thing to be famous

you can also use tags to organize your blog a bit, this is especially useful for artists and creatives cause you can for example tag all your art featuring a specific OC with their name and people can then sort for all posts you made with that tag and see just that OC

we have progressed since when you last opened tumblr, it was never a ghost town y'all just didn't pay attention to us

most seasoned users are automatically gonna assume any accounts with the default profile picture and banner are bots and block them, so even if you just wanna lurk, change them

interact with others! hype up artists in the tags! send folks asks, even if it's not a question! add to peoples posts! be silly! enjoy yourself!

now get out there and make some mutuals!

I’m know I’m not the first person to say this, but any newbies on tumblr really need to understand how different this is from a lot of other social media. Particularly tiktok.

I just saw a creator on tiktok reminding followers that it’s actually a problem when someone goes back to the earliest post and watches all the posts chronologically, liking and commenting along the way. The stupid app recognizes it as spam or something and then kinda puts a halt on their account? Literally punishing people for positive engagement?? 🥴🤦‍♀️

I’ve already heard people saying years back how they don’t want to be “creepy” and go through a persons blog, liking and reblogging tons of stuff. But think how many more people are going to be worried about it now, thinking they might do actual damage! Most people, especially younger people, are so used to the way tiktok works now. So please, do not ever worry about this on here. Just remember-

You will never do any harm if you go on a like and reblog fest through someone’s tumblr blog! The only risk you’re taking is to make the blog owner weep for joy!! 😭🤣

I just wanna say, after the whole Forever debacle, this is another instance of Tubbo having weirdly accurate hunches. Not talking the donowall stuff but about his perception towards the N.I.N.H.O and Forever himself.

There’s a reason why he hasn’t set up Sunny’s N.I.N.H.O room yet. Even after being gifted one by Forever. Just a small joke said in response to Forever explaining how eggs and their parents can double reinforce their rooms so that even he couldn’t access them.

“Alright. Well as long as you don’t go crazy again, I’m not fussed.”

Tubbo then not only places Sunny’s warp plate out in the open but also pulls Sunny aside to reassure her that they will create their own safety precautions outside of the N.I.N.H.O. How that he’s found ways with newer mods to make a better safety system that he will use on his own.

Like at first, I wanted him to make improvements on the already existing N.I.N.H.O to protect more eggs. But now, thank GOD he didn’t.

happy for the people enjoying punk Steve lately and genuinely not criticising them, only expressing a different thought in parallel (I hate how saying "genuinely not criticising" can make it sound even more passive-aggressive but I'm genuinely genuinely not criticising! I'm not suggesting other people are liking my favourite character wrong that would be so douchey)

I just always like the idea that Steve isn't, like, repressing a secret desire to be unconventional and join some kind of counterculture and one day start showing his true, wilder self in his fashion and grooming choices

that the way he looks is literally just what he's like

you could give him total freedom of choice and tell him to go hog wild and he'd still be chumping around in polos and light-wash jeans

they're comfortable and he likes how he looks

he likes sports and cars and his favourite Star Wars movie remains the one with the teddy bears

any "unconventional" stuff he does is very subtle and minor like he was indeed wearing a touch of strawberry lip gloss in the summer of 1985 because he needed a little cheer-me-up and he felt like the blue uniform washed him out, he's a warm autumn for god's sake he shouldn't be wearing blue

he would get, like, one ear pierced and wear a small plain gold stud and he'd feel very special about it

Eddie: gradually filling up his whole skin with increasingly elaborate tattoos

Steve: got a little heart with "E+S" in it on his inside forearm where it's not conspicuous but he can take a look at it and smile to himself any time he wants

he's not holding back this is just what he needs (and he thinks Eddie's tattoos and hair and jewellery and et cetera et cetera are badass and beautiful)
