Freelancing has kicked my butt due to many reasons and omg, the prospect of having regular hours with a job I really love vs irregular with a job that drains my life force.... yeah. SCREENCAP STUDIES!!!

At the top are studies I did just the other day, to finish a spread which I had started in 2020 while working on my zine, and never posted because I a) wasn't totally happy with how the studies turned out and b) I wanted to finish the spread... which I only just did fhdsjkg. It was really fun though and I was so please to realise that I wasn't as out of practice as I feared I would be :')

I also realise that a lot of you newer fans might not know what the file names next to each drawing refer to, so here you go:

All screenshots that I have saved to my computer and use as reference for these studies are from cap-that, which, incredibly, is being kept up to date to this day! A fantastic resource, so make sure you bookmark it~

Honestly that is really sweet omg, but it also makes me laugh because Life on Mars is an Emmy-nominated (and I think winning??) TV show and yet....... still so niche.....................

Man. I wish I had the patience/time, drawing and storytelling skills to make a LoM fan comic, that would be awesome - but alas.

As some of you may know, I’m a teacher in Australia. I teach 8, 9 and 10 year olds (year levels 3 and 4). I’ve been teaching for 16 years and I absolutely love it.

Every year, I’ve used a ‘prize box’ system for students as one of the rewards for making strong choices. It isn’t perfect, but it usually works pretty well in encouraging those kids who find it hard to self-motivate. And hey, if I find rewarding myself for doing things I don’t particularly want to do makes me better at doing those crunchy horrible things I hate, and this in turn makes doing those things easier, I can’t blame kids for being the same.

The thing is, this year I don’t have the finances to buy the kinds of things I’d buy. I have some books in the prize box at the moment, but that's about it. No stickers, no fidget tools, no stationery. I need more items, but I'm barely scraping by myself.

I teach in a school that has a high level of complexity. At our school we buy all the books, stationery, art resources and devices for students. A lot of teachers - including me - supplement our class budgets and resources with our own money. Parents pay school fees – some at a reduced rate – and that’s it. I also think that's the way it should be, especially as we have a high proportion of students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

I understand that I’m not alone in finding things tough right now, but I’d really appreciate that if you have some spare change, you’d consider buying something on the Amazon wishlist for prize box items that I made.
