Sometimes I see separate aus floating around, where Danny and Phantom were either split or never one to begin with, I think a fun version of it be that Phantom was the result of the ectoplasm in the portal imprinting on Danny. Looking like him and acting like him, maybe it even somewhat possessed him during the incident to make Danny intangible which also helped with the imprint (and helped Danny not die)

I'm not sure how'd they interact, or if they even realize they're eerily similar. But I do imagine Phantom is desperate to protect Danny when he's in trouble, maybe have it be his obsession in a way, maybe Danny can still sense ghosts bc of his connection with Phantom

As I write this, I think they'd avoid eachother, but like? Ah it's hard to put into words rn. Phantom awkwardly tries to avoid Danny, usually going invisible when Danny's around, bc he has quite a few of Danny's memories, at least faint echos of them, and also he probably is worried about freaking Danny out, very much just hanging out on the sidelines watching to Danny to make sure he's alright.

Danny on the other hand could have some of the same reasons as Phantom, but also I imagine he'd more so accidentally avoid the ghost, when Danny's ghost sense goes off he's running

Oughhh oh wait imagine if Danny didn't even Know that Phantom is mostly ectoplasm that imprinted on him when he nearly died. Imagine only seeing glimpses of the town hero for ages, only to see him fully for the first time, and he has Danny's face, and an inverted version of the hazmat suit Danny wore when the accident happened

thinking about how in the manga aiura says she also saw teruhashi when she asked her crystal ball to show her her soulmate and was scared to learn that teruhashi would be her rival for saiki's love like... What if she mixed saiki and teruhashi up and misinterpreted. wouldn't that be so tragic? aiura also mentions that she can't predict lottery numbers because the karmic balance will strike back twice as hard. what if that's her punishment for using her powers in a self-interested manner by trying to find her soulmate? doomed to a life where no matter how much she may yearn for kokomi, she will always deny herself because of her ultimate belief in the truth of her own predictions?

Martha reaches out for him sadly and suggests, “Bruce, I could take you out myself. Or, we can call some of the other children at school and go out with them.” Bruce, as an adult, somberly says off panel that, “she doesn't know...” as his kid self stares out the window still. His hat casting a small shadow on his face as he tells her, “There are no other kids to call. I have no friends at school.” Martha says his name again but doesn't know how to comfort him.
