Hello! I'm not sure if oc interactions are open at the moment, so feel free to answer this whenever they are 🧍‍♀️
May I ask for Tuna's opinion on Yuuta and Victoria? (Yuuta is sort of my Yuusona, whereas Vic is.... Just my favorite oc 😭)
Of course! Hope you don't mind just writing for now! ^o^ I love how you wrote your profiles for them, and the style for them too! It gives off that same vibe as the twst count down art!
Yuuta-
How they meet! Likely Tuna saw them while Yuuta was in the Botanical Gardens. As a part of the mountian lovers club, Tuna sometimes has to help Jade replant some specimens and thusly had seen Yuuta! Though since Yuuta seemed surround by an air of "do not disturb", Tuna dubbed it safer to watch from a distance. It's not until chapter 3 takes place that the two will actually interact! Since Tuna works in monstro lounge and tends to eaves drop on Azuls dealings, they probably overheard the task Yuuta has to do. Tuna catches Yuuta on the way out giving a snarky remark "Hopefully nothing FISHY happens on you're little adventure~" To be honest Tuna just wanted make a pun, but their sarcastic tone doesn't help build any bridges... it's up to Yuuta to decide if he'll let that slide or not!
How they interact/ Get along! Tuna's probably scared of Yuuta to a degree. Hearing bro has gun skills and knife skills is both impressive and frightening. On top of that hearing of his feats in the little time he's been brought here, Tuna will try not to get under their skin too much from here on out. Tuna likes to prank, but they know not to stick their hand in a bee hive. If Yuuta ends up making friend with Tuna, it's likely a calm friendship. Yuuta can come get snacks while Tuna is on duty and Tuna will go watch Yuuta do knife tricks. Unless Yuuta wants to talk, its going to be whats it called.. !!! Parallel play LMAO- im sorry thats the only term i could think of. -This could become a similar relationship to how Tuna interacts with Jade (sarcastic banter and friendly bickering) if trust is built enough -Zodiac wise (im speaking purely from my own experience w a true bestie) : Scorpio + Virgo friendships STAY ON TOP!!!!! LITERALLY THE SASS AND ATTITUDE IS SO FUN- Like instant besties imo (dont take this too seriously i just like the zodiacs)
Victoria-
How they meet! So if you don't know, Tuna and Rook are besties. Besties who fuel each others eccentric personalities... If she had a headache with one, she will have two headaches with both. One day while the two fools were heading along to Rooks dorm for a hangout, Victoria happened to be passing along. Looking as stunning as always, Rook released plenty of praise to which Tuna also joined in "You have wonderful style! Truly as Rook says 100 points!" From then Tuna will likely start noticing Victoria around more often and may give a wave hello. If Tuna so happens to hear Victoria's claim of seeing and hearing all, Tuna will invite her to join them and Rook during their daily... uh... rounds of the campus (they watch the other students;;; =v=). I MEAN WHAT BETTER BONDING THEN OVER A SIMILAR ACTIVITY! ^o^ is what Tuna is thinking at least. -Note Tunas UM allows for a stealth buff so when they invite Victoria for these rounds, it is quite literally they are all hidden w Tunas UM, Rook analyzes and Victoria can choose what she'd like to do as they go along campus being terrors. They mostly eavesdrop on classroom/ hallway gossip.
How they interact/ get along! Tuna personally just admires Victoria's beauty a lot, they aren't scared of her so much as they worry about making her upset. Depending on how Victoria responds to Tuna's odd way of friendship, there's two outcomes. 1) She dislikes Tuna -> Tuna feels the vibe is off and simply just waves in passing by and nothing more. 2) She doesn't mind Tuna -> Tuna sees this as an opportunity of friendship and further tries to encourage hangouts and fashion nights in which Tuna attempts not to dress like a rodeo clown for once. Overall I can see them being sort of similar to Vil & Epel oddly enough. Victoria being a sort of 'mother bird' picking and teaching Tuna, 'that ball of feathers yet to molt'. Slight bickering but by the end of things its not hatred at least.
Thank you for sending me your ocs!!! I hope i didn't make them too OOC or anything!!! Overall Tuna is a goofball at heart so interpret as you will~!

**well this turned out to be a fucking novel, sorry**
Hey. It's been awhile.
Life is just about the same as it's always been. Still working my ass off for what seems like nothing. Still trying to finish my fucking degree.
But I started dating someone I never would've expected to be with. And he's been nothing but sweet and fantastic to me. If I could've built an ideal man from scratch he would be pretty fucking close.
But of course, me being me and having experienced some of the shittiest relationships you could've possibly experienced and coming out of them with huge trust issues and walls a mile high, I find myself doubting things.
You see, there was the long lived high school romance that soured because of lack of maturity and openness and both of our mental health problems. There was the brief flame that absolutely destroyed me with the abrupt ending with zero closure that started my trust issues. There was the 2.5 year cesspool of a relationship with a toxic, gaslighting, abusive, manipulative, cheating asshole that further wrecked my trust and destroyed my self worth and self esteem. And then boy oh boy. The creme de la creme. The big one. The guy who absolutely crushed any hope of a decent relationship. Almost two years of constant manipulation. Being dragged on with love bombing, trauma bonding, threats, you name it. I was cheated on constantly, played with emotionally 24/7, had my life threatened along with my family and friends, was physically assaulted and so much more.
So yeah. This man isn't anything like anyone I've dated before. He has his shit together. He treats me so very good. I love him, I do. But I'm terrified. I'm so so afraid that this is yet another game. That I'm being love bombed yet again. That this is a mask that will stay intact for a few months and then it'll all drop and he'll be just another sweet talking monster. Because this relationship has echoes of my relationship with Ryan. The flashy dates, the seemingly goofy and light hearted fun. It's exactly how Ryan and I's relationship started and it was so great in the beginning and I thought it was going to last forever. But he completely changed after about six months. And I can't do that again. I know I just can't go through a relationship like that again. It would completely destroy me. And I know I can't keep comparing this relationship to my past relationships because that isn't fair. It helps some that my best friends know this guy and can vouch for him but it is different being friends with someone and dating someone. People are different behind closed doors. There are moments where I know I'm being paranoid and unreasonable and I'm trying to work on it but it's so fucking hard. Like when he likes another girls picture when I know she was pursuing him at some point. Or when he doesn't message me back for hours when he's normally pretty quick with getting back to me. My mind automatically goes to 'he's cheating ' because that's all I know. And then I'm on the verge of a panic attack and there's a huge weight in my chest. I can't breathe. My heart feels like it's being ripped in two. And I can't talk to my best friend about it like I normally would because I don't want to potentially ruin her friendship with him or strain our friendship by putting her in the middle. So I just silently drown.
I know I need to actually talk to someone and work through my trauma but my insurance doesn't kick in until next month. And even then, I probably can't afford it.
I just don't know what to do. I'm scared I'm too damaged to try to have a healthy relationship. I'm scared that if this guy is truly a genuine guy and would be the same wonderful guy forever I'll just ruin it because of my trauma that I haven't completely healed from. I do want a happy healthy relationship. I want that more than anything. I just don't know if I actually know how to function in that time of environment. I don't know if right now I know how to be anything but distrusting and withdrawn. Things are different when I'm actually physically with him and all that doubt fades away but when we're apart I start to spiral sometimes. And that isn't healthy. I'm scared to talk to him about all this too even though communication has been open between us and he's been patient and kind when I've voiced my concerns before. I just worry he'll realize just how broken I am and give up on me too.
🙃🙃

abt the ned thing - i was amazed ariel was seen out with ned with her wedding ring on cause my ex cheated on me and i put a nail in his tire, but then i was like... yeah. she has the try wives podcast, she has that baby podcast with him, they have a youtube channel or w/e. i think she also has a store but i would imagine the VAST majority of her income is from ned-associated shit. she CANT hardly leave him. what we've learned is that you never tie your income to a man.
Yeah, I'm not so surprised either because of some of the reasons you already mentioned. I mean they probably had a month now to discuss and plan this situation and public announcement through. I also understand, emotionally and financially, if Ariel wants to give it another try. They have two small kids, they built a house together and she also invested into the Try Guys. It is also such a scandalous, public affair that it can lead to them actually sticking close together, at least for a while, bcs they're going through it together, even if it is his fault.
Personally I think it depends on the people how they handle cheating, I don't think one size fits all. I also think a drunken peck on the lips is a different level of cheating than a full blown, one-year, affair and those things often require different measures. Though my personal feeling is when someone's partner is going behind their partner's back and lies for an extended amount of time and never comes clean on their own...kick the cheater out and don't look back it's unlikely you'll ever be able to trust them again.
Anyway, we don't know these people. So it's all just speculation based on what little facts we have.
Maybe she knew about his cheating, maybe they had some open relationship type arrangement? I mean, apparently he was known for drunkenly getting touchy with women on nights out for a longer time. I totally doubt she would agree to that but I guess that's the only way I can make sense of him cheating so publicly for so long...
Honestly I hope she doesn't have to worry about the financial aspect if she should leave. Her and the Try Guys/Try Wives seem to be real friends to a degree and it looks like they all took her side. If they're real ones they could say 'hey Ariel, don't worry, we'll take care that you don't have to financially struggle as long as the kids are still small, we support you/keep working with you' 🤷🏻‍♀️
From my very limited and subjective impression of Ned, I would not be surprised if he would cheat again if she should take him back. He seems like the type who might grovel for a while then feel like his ego isn't fed enough and hook up again with a younger chick. But that is my realism/cynicism, you decide. The TMZ pics where he looks so smug and smiley are of course only a snapshot of a moment but it doesn't make him look good, it makes him look like he enjoys the attention.
lol I'm not a Try Guy fan, if I was/am ever a fan of something buzzfeed related it's the Ghoul Bois. But I am aware of the Try Guys since so many years. I draw and that's an activity were you often consume a lot of media in the background and over the years I did end up watching a couple of Try Guy's related videos every couple of months. Enough to know the who is who and the relationships. I think when Eugene's coming out video dropped they were more on my Youtube radar again. I'm mainly here because the gossip is so juicy, like that the wife guy gets outed as cheater WITH AN EMPLOYEE is just such irony and I just really have a personal hate for guys who cheat, especially on women who raise their kids, and I never knew enough about Mulaney and that Maroon 5 guy to care. lol

Meet Nanami. A shy, selectively mute “witch” who spends most of her time tending to plants and making herbal medicines. She has a fascination with the ocean and occasionally daydreams about what it would be like to explore the waters. More info under the cut!
Basic Info
Real Name: Nanami Nami Age: 26 as of SHB Race: Dunesfolk Lalafell Sexuality: Bisexual Guardian Deity: Nophica, the Matron Main classes: WHM, SMN (purely for her familiar) DOL/DOH: BTN, ALC, a dream of being FSH Voice Claim: Nao Tōyama (Reina Prowler in Macross Delta, Chitose from Nisekoi, Lyria from Granblue Fantasy)
Personality
MBTI: ISFP Enneagram: Type 9 Wing 1 (The Dreamer) Temperament: Phlegmatic Alignment: Neutral Good
Nanami is soft; marshmallow soft. Introverted to the nth degree, she has no real experience in dealing with other people outside of those who have run a select few shops that she's patroned for years - and even then, she can't meet their eyes. She suffers from selective mutism, meaning words are few and far between in regards to anyone but herself for the most part. However, with enough time and trust, it's possible that you might hear an answer or two rather than see it with your eyes.
Because she knows that she can't function through life (alone or otherwise) without "speaking", Nanami is able to combine her magic with her aether to speak by drawing or writing in the air - she often chooses drawing, as it allows for quicker responses.
When observed from afar, Nanami's true character can be seen; gentle, and extremely caring of those around her. She handles plants and flowers as though they're her family, and more often than not will she end up somewhat red-eyed and sniffly when using a plant for herbal medicines.
Backstory
An orphan from birth, Nanami has lived her life in self-inflicted isolation. The other children of the orphanage were never very kind to her, given that she couldn't speak, was more interested in the weeds growing from the ground than the game they were playing, and often felt sick when in the sun. Of course, children can be cruel, and it would be a lie to say if she wasn't bullied because of it; this only led her to isolate herself more in the long run.
It was discovered at a young age that she was proficient in white magics, and thus spent a long amount of time training under E-Sumi-Yan to hone her skills; thanks to this, he is one of few people who Nanami is able to speak to normally, though only when nobody else is around. She now uses these magics in conjuncture with her "witch magic" to produce various potions and medicines to sell for income.
Nanami lives far within the woods of the Black Shroud, in a small cottage that she had built by herself. When adventurers, wounded or otherwise, would come seeking shelter and aid, she would offer it under few conditions; one, that they understand she would only be around them to administer care and meals. Two, that before they left, they repair a part of her cottage that was in disarray, as her own craftsmanship was fairly shoddy. Thanks to this, her cottage is much more stable than when it had been made.
Stats
Strength: 3/10 Offense:  5/10 Defense: 7/10 Speed:  4/10 Durability: 6/10 Accuracy: 5/10 Agility: 4/10 Stamina: 3/10 Teamwork: 9/10 Stealth: 2/10 Magic: 10/10 Healing: 10/10
Nanami is a healer in all forms of the word; from healing magics to shielding magics, and even homemade potions, she functions as a pure supportive role in the heat of battle. Of course, she'd very much prefer not to fight at all if possible, but she's well aware that that simply isn't the case in this world.
Because she often gets uncomfortable in the sun, Nanami is never found without a massively large hat to mitigate the effects - leading to a hard drop in combative accuracy, as the rim of the hat will often block the far off view. Her close combat skills are basically nonexistent, which can sometimes lead to her being more of a liability if she's unable to protect herself in time. To say she fears these scenarios more than death would be an understatement.
Other headcanons
Could probably sing fairly well if she didn’t suffer from psychological issues.
Has a floating ferret familiar named Ren and a fat cat named Mr. Pibbles.
Has a love/hate relationship with spring - she loves seeing the plants flourish, but hates the allergies that come with them.
Paints as a hobby, but she hides all her artwork in a loose floorboard because she’s embarrassed about it.
Somewhat good at figuring things out on the fly, but her anxiety leads her to second guessing herself almost instantly.
She loves fruits in all forms, especially in drinks.
Fell in love with the ocean after visiting Costa Del Sol once with the orphanage - she wants to visit again, especially on a clear night.
Blind as a bat; she can’t even find her glasses in the morning after waking up - Ren has to put them on his back and bring them to her.
She knows sign language! She just doesn’t use it often because her art conveys things easier to those who don’t.
Aesthetics
Scents: Baked apples, cinnamon, flower shops, rose water Colors: Grayscale, dark purples and reds Animals: Deer, crows, squirrels Clothing: Long dresses, cloaks, large hats, circle frames, long sleeves, layered shirts, long socks Others: Autumn leaves crunching underfoot, candlelight, the faint sounds of a piano from another room, bird calls, whispers
Mun Notes
First and foremost, I want to say that selective mutism isn’t choosing to be mute - honestly, the term is very poorly named, imo. The link the phrase directs to has a few examples that accurately describe Nanami’s condition:
Twenty-six-year-old Hannah is only able to speak with her parents. In other situations like school, where she’s interacting with a larger group of people who she is less familiar with, her words get stuck, and even though she wants to speak, nothing comes out.
For interactions with Nanami, I know it’s hard to portray her when she’s unable to speak, so people are free to have her talk in sets. But she’s very quiet/soft, and pauses a lot. Ellipses are her best friend tbh.
Her design uses a custom face dds that I edited from Mint’s that I don’t mind giving to people who want to pose her if they ask ;w;

Why do I not have the option to copy and paste formatting? Why is that an option I am not given? Who thought that I wouldn’t need that when I’m on my phone? Screw that guy, who I am arbitrarily calling Adam. If anyone knows how to do that, please tell me.
Chapter 6 Pt 2
“There is no fucking way you got a date with her.” Raphael does not even look it up. “No way in hell.”
“And yet the flow chart worked.” He laughs from his lab, shutting off any excess equipment as to not overwork it. “It worked like a charm and she asked me to go to her place so ha.”
”You didn’t show her the chart, did you?”
“I did not.”
“Well, there you go.” Leo looks back at him from his seat on the couch. “What time?”
“Seven o’clock.” He slides the door closed. “But I’m planning on being there at six fifty-five so that she knows I value her time.”
“Does the sun set that early?”
“Why do you even ask?” Raph turns a page in his once periodical periodical. “You know he looked it up.”
“As a matter of fact, I did. Forgive me for also valuing preparedness.”
“Nobody likes a know it all.”
He grins smugly. “That’s where you’re wrong. See, I,” he gestured to himself, “have a date with a gorgeous girl tonight, one where she has already invited me into her home, and you,” he gestured to Raphael, “are reading a magazine from a company that went out of business two years ago alone.”
“Donnie, don’t be a jerk.” Leonardo looked back at the television. “Raphael brings up a valid point; you tend to act like you know everything, and the actual request wasn’t for a date.”
“How else can I interpret one on one time with her?”
“Well,” he counters, “how do you interpret one on one time with us?”
He blinks. “Wait, so you’re saying she’s… how do you put it?”
“Nah, I don’t think she’s friendzonin ‘im.” Mickey looks up from his drawing. “Think she’s sending signals she doesn’t mean to.” He sets his half-shaded piece aside. “Think about it; she said she’s been all stressed out, right? She died like two weeks ago.” He shrugs. “She’s probably just lonely and needs the company.”
“That’s… actually really insightful of you.”
He grins. “What can I say? I’m a modern McPherson.”
Raph snickers at that. “Donnie is more of a McPher—how old is that movie, anyway? A hundred?
“Hey!” He shoots a glare at his brother. “Respect the classics.”
“Not to interrupt your riveting intro to film class,” Donnie interjects, losing his shit, “but I really need to know what this is before I go, and it’s already fifteen ‘till.”
“Look, maybe she’s interested, maybe she’s not.” Leonardo’s eyes are back on the screen. “Just try to tread carefully and you’ll probably be fine.”
“Probably?”
“Again, Raph had a point.”
He groans, walking to the entrance and exit of their home. “You guys aren’t helping.”
“Not our job.”
Leo calls after him. “Be home before six!”
He turns the corner, cradling his head in his hands. ‘I am totally and thoroughly fucked.’
--
GoodFellas.
Of all the movies in the world, that is the movie you have decided to use to explain these concepts. This is the example piece that you are going to show to the vigilante. All you know is that you had started watching the Phantom Menace and had decided against explaining the concept of racial coding and this is the only other movie that you can think of right now. You have decided to commit, and you are already regretting it, but you decide to figure it out as you go.
You set the pizza on the coffee table, throwing a bag of popcorn in the microwave to pop. You do not expect Donatello to be late, so you decided to start now so that they could get started right away. You start walking to the window, stopping at the mouth of the hallway. You look yourself over one more time in the bathroom mirror despite yourself. You do not exactly know why you care so much; this was not a date, and you had not advertised it as one. Still, impressions are important, and the last thing you need is for him to not listen to you because of it. That is what you are telling yourself, anyhow.
You hear knocking against the glass. You check your phone for the time. ‘Five minutes early.’ You smile softly. ‘How responsible.’ You open it up, smiling at your guest. “Welcome, Donatello.” You take a step back. “Please, make yourself at home.”
He barely makes a sound as he steps off the windowsill, looking around your apartment, fully illuminated, for the first time.
After about thirty seconds of his investigation, you clear your throat. “Donnie?”
He snaps out of it. “Huh?”
You smile gently. “You wanna sit down? I bought pizza.”
“Uh, yeah.” He nods, sitting down and facing the television screen. “I like your place.”
“Thanks.” You sit down next to him, tucking your feet under you as you flip on the television. “How do you feel about gangster movies?”
“Gangster movies?”
“Yeah.” You list a couple on your fingers. “Scarface, Godfather, all that jazz.”
He shakes his head, brow furrowed in confusion. “How can you make gangster movies legally?”
“That is a long answer. The short version?” You lean forward, taking a slice from the box. “The police are kind to those who cooperate, and people think their stories are fascinating.”
“So they’re documentaries?” He mimics you.
You shrug. “Sometimes. Not always, but sometimes. You want something to drink?” You hear the microwave beep as you stand up.
“Water?”
You nod, walking over to pull the popcorn out of the microwave and grab your drinks. “I trust the walk wasn’t too bad?”
“Not at all.” The small talk is torture. “Getting to your window was a bit of a challenge, but it wasn’t anything too bad.”
“That’s good.” You pour him a glass. “I’ll have to get something for that; maybe a planter or something, so you have a bigger ledge.”
“It’s alright.” He taps his fingers against his knee. “It’s wide enough to stand.”
“Still.” You place his cup on the counter, dumping the kernels into a large plastic bowl. “I wouldn’t forgive myself if one of you guys got hurt trying to come in through the window.” You grab a can of soda out of the refrigerator, sitting down and handing him the glass.
He smiles slightly. “You’re really sweet sometimes, you know that?”
You grin. “I try,” you hum, starting to pull up the movie. “I think you’re pretty cool too, Hamato.”
He chuckles. “You make me sound like I’m fifty.”
“Oh, totally.” You nod in agreement. “You’re an old soul.”
He blinks. “Old soul?”
“Mature, I mean.” You shrug. “I mean, handling the stuff you do with any degree of tact, to me, displays a great maturity you don’t see in most teenagers, myself included.”
“Is that a bad thing?”
You get back up for napkins and plates. “Not at all.” You hand him one of each. “It’s an admirable quality, though not one I particularly envy.”
“You think?” His hands linger for a moment longer than typical as he took them.
“Yeah. You want me to turn down the lights for the movie while I’m up?”
His face goes red. “I-I mean,” he stutters, “if you want to.”
“Then I will; shows the image better when it’s dark.” You walk to the wall, flicking off the lights and sitting down next to him, setting your slice on your plate as you turn on the movie.
Your reactions to it are different.
He does not seem what you would call disturbed, but he gets grossly invested in the story extremely quickly. He is noticeably more interested in watching you watch the movie, but he studies the plot intently, noting the more domestic plotline between the lead and his wife in particular. His reaction to the violence is strange to you; he is not aloof, so to speak, but he does not flinch much until the fighting is between Henry and Karen.
You have seen this movie what feels like a thousand times. Whenever you think it applicable, you lean over and whisper to him about the directing, the script, the plot—it is supposed to be a lesson, after all. But you realize that your attention, every so often, shifts to the bed, to your pillow with the knife underneath it. The violence of the movie makes you edgier than you are used to.
About halfway through the movie, you move closer to the boy sitting beside you. You lean your head against his shoulder, closing your eyes as you listen for cues for comments. You don’t notice his reaction, but you do notice how his arm snakes around your waist, pulling you closer to him. You do not object; you were the one who initiated, after all.
“Here’s a psychology relationship thingy you can tell your family about.” You cringe at that poor little girl standing in the hallway. “’That’s all in your head’ is classic gaslighting. I dunno if that’s really your area or not.”
“Oh, yeah, I see what you mean.” He fiddles with the cloth of your jacket absentmindedly. “It’s kinda hard for me to wrap my head around, people staying like that. I mean,” he clarifies, “I get why, but—”
You both tense up as a young man on screen is shot dead by Joe Pesci’s character.
You exhale. “Yeah, I get what you mean.” You shrug. “But folks get scared, ya know? In her case, she doesn’t want to break the family apart, and she’s really into him.”
“What? No way.”
“Yes way.” You look up at him. “What can I say? We fall into infatuation so fast with bad people who say what we want to hear.”
“Don’t you mean fall in love?”
You watch as Lorraine Bracco holds a gun to her husband’s face. “Nope. Love is entirely different.”
“Yeah?” He glanced down at you.
“Apples and oranges.” You gesture to the television. “Love is supplementary, a beautifully imperfect connection between people.” Your voice becomes smoother, airier. “It’s a bond built on trust and respect. Infatuation is more of an addiction than anything.” You sigh as Liota meets to discuss his relationship with Sorvino. “At least I think so. That’s why love at first sight is a bunch of bullshit; you can’t have that kind of profound trust with someone you just met.” You shrug, looking back up at him. “Then again, what do I know? I’m an inexperienced, fifteen-year-old girl.”
“That makes a lot of sense, actually.” He looks back down at you. “I get what familial love is, but whenever Master Splinter talks about his wife, he has a hard time putting what he means into words.”
You hear their guilty verdict. “Totally get that. Articulation is not easy to do.”
A few minutes go by.
“May I be frank?”
“Please.”
You watch as a man drags his wife out of a Christmas party. “This movie is exactly why I don’t ever want to learn how to do the stuff you do. It changes you, all that violence; desensitizes you.” You bring your knees to your chest. “Especially Raphael. I swear, that shift was as dramatic as his, at least at this point in the flick.”
He pauses. “Please, tell me you’re kidding.”
You close your eyes, breathing slowly. “I’m going to try my best,” you swear, “do everything in my power, to see to it that you guys don’t experience more than you have to.”
You mean it. He can tell.
You two are quiet for the rest of the movie. You explain why certain directing choices were made, connect the beginning with the end, talk about the theme, all while you two watched their fall from grace. When the movie ends, you realize how tangled up in him you are; your head on his chest, legs draped over his with his arms around your waist. You feel the icy air against you, as if his skin attracted it to you. You push the hair out of your face. “So,” you stretch, turning the light back on, “do you wanna see another movie, or do you have a curfew?”
He pauses. “I should honestly probably get home,” he sighs. “If I’m not home early they’ll start getting ideas.”
“Oh, yeah.” You nod, completely understanding the reasoning. “You can take the leftover pizza home if you want; the guys’ll probably eat it before I do.”
“Mikey’ll be on cloud nine.” He picks the box off the coffee table. “Thanks.”
“Any time.” You stand at the window, opening it for him.
He climbs onto the windowsill, looking down at you from his perch. “I had a good time.” His face flushed. “We should do this again.”
You nod in agreement. “Definitely.” You rub the back of your neck. “I’ll pick a lighter movie next time.”
“Alright. It’s a plan.” He gives you a thumbs up.
You steal yourself, cupping one side of his face and kissing him gently on the cheek. “Goodnight, Donnie.” You smile. “See ya tomorrow.”
You are a bit concerned he’s going to fall off the windowsill. “Y-Yeah,” he grinned, words slurred. “See ya later, Y/N.” He waved, climbing up and out of your window.
You smile softly, sigh. You flop back on the bed, rolling over. You have not been this at ease since you died.
‘I really like that guy.’ You close your eyes. ‘I really, honestly do.’
You drift off to sleep, dreamless for the first time in too long.

Let me preface this rant by pointing out that I love Betty Cooper and my opinions are not a reflection of anyone else’s who may share my favourite character or ship. So the biased opinions you may have from viewing my username need to be rethought before you continue reading.
What attracted Mädchen to the role of Alice in the first place was her complexity, which was promised from the start. The back and forth, the twists and turn. That has been a character trait that has been done on purpose to keep the character interesting. I see so many keyboard warriors tapping away making posts about how awful Alice is, and guess what? She can be, but so is every other character. The difference between Alice and a categorical villain is that Alice genuinely loves the people she holds dear to her. She genuinely loves Betty, genuinely loves Polly, genuinely loves Charles, genuinely loves FP, and because of her love for her children, and the man who owns her heart, that love extends to Jughead and Jellybean too.
You can dispute this claim til the cows come home but let’s take a look at all of Alice’s faults and see what we can conclude here.
Helicopter parenting:  From our very first introduction to Alice, she uttered the words that she hoped Jason suffered in his last moments. It was clear to us from the get-go that this woman hated Jason Blossom. It wasn’t until about 6 episodes later did we learn why she had such a strong reaction to this seemingly normal boy. Jason was a jock, he was a blossom, and he was the one who got her 16 year old daughter pregnant. Everything about Alice in season 1 screamed overbearing mother as though this was how she had been for a long time. Yes? She was strict and in the beginning the show was told in the point of view of teenagers, and us as an audience sympathise with teens with strict parents because we relate to that. We either are teens or have memories of those same experiences. We want to paint the parent as the bad guy because how dare this adult be such a downer on the fun these teens want to have, but as Roberto has so skilfully engrained into the character, we start to see Alice’s layers unfolding. In episode 1x08 we witness Alice experience heartbreak upon learning that her husband, who is supposed to be upfront and her teammate had gone behind her back and tried to force their daughter to have an abortion. She screeches at him because “you did to Polly, exactly what you did to me.” This is an underlaying problem we come to learn later with Alice. She has spent her entire parenthood experience trying to make sure that her daughters don’t take the same path she did. This was the first hint we got into why Alice is so protective of her daughters. She has tried for the longest time to keep them focused on school, to keep them away from the children of her peers who she believes will lead them astray. She spent her life turning the southside into villains, to protect her daughters and keep them from wanting to be involved with serpents, who bring her so much pain in her memories.
Her secrets: One of the first major secrets we learn from Alice is that in high school she ended up pregnant and sent away to the sisters of quiet mercy, just like Polly had been. We know this because someone from her past made it impossible for her to escape that secret, which is also a clear indication as to why Alice never wanted her family associated with the southside, or the Jones family. As suggested three episodes earlier, the dinner scene in 1x11 is another clue leading up to the reveal in the season finale. Alice becomes increasingly distressed as FP recalls an argument he witnessed in passing, one that he assumes would rattle Alice who has spent years concocting the perfect image. The old bitter feelings between the former lovers is apparent from this moment. He knows what will make her blood boil and he goes for it. He knows that Alice isn’t this perfect northside woman, and he realises her marriage isn’t built on love and perfection because he saw the two arguing viciously, about what we are to assume is related to the near forced abortion conversation that was hinted about in 1x08. Alice has more secrets than even FP is aware of, and since season 1 was a journey for Betty, one that included her discovering not only her town is filled with dark secrets, but so is her picture-perfect family. Her parents didn’t fall apart because of Polly being pregnant, they’ve never been perfect and FP throwing that in Alice’s face is yet another one of Alice’s fears. Much like her obsession with keeping her daughters safe from her own unsafe path, Alice has spent this whole time trying to make sure her daughters had the perfect upbringing, shielding even the most minute of problems from them. Even Jughead has commented in his narration on how ‘perfect’ this family seemed to be from the outside. This was a combination of Hal’s need to live a sin free life, and Alice’s need for control to avoid her own past interfering with her daughter’s road to a happy and successful life. The secret that hurt her the most to keep close to her chest is of course the existence of her son Charles, whom she lied about to many people. Her daughters never knew, which is the most understandable part of the entire secret. Her discussion with Betty about this revealed how much pain she had been keeping to herself and revealed the biggest and most revealing layer of them all. The bottom line here was that Alice had been living her entire adult life feeling guilt for giving her son away, and had been spending this whole time keeping her other children as close to her as possible to mask that pain.
Her relationship with Polly: As mentioned earlier we know that Alice and Polly have an extremely strained relationship. It is uncertain what we can and can’t believe about Polly before the pilot. Hal’s words to Betty when questioned about his eldest daughter may have very well been an exaggeration to sell the fact that she was sent away for her own good. What we do know however, is that Polly resents Alice. Any sane person can see this and agree she has reasons to feel this way. Not only was Polly sent away with the intention of giving her babies away, Alice stood by and let it happen. That cannot be disputed. (unless of course you have the personal opinion that Polly is an unreliable narrator) Polly being sent away meant she spent months believing Jason was still alive, when he had been dead. She didn’t get to spend her life with the father of her children, which is the issue with the biggest weight here. Alice did not kill Jason, but her actions alongside Hal’s, were a factor that came into play here and Polly will never forgive them entirely for that. Polly’s reaction was to stay away from her parents, and once again this is understandable. However we do see how this affects Alice who we know loves her children more than anything. She maybe deserve it to a degree, but Alice is a human being and that pain does reflect on her character. Polly’s later actions to willingly let her mother join a cult, which is now apparent that Polly isn’t a blind victim to brainwashing, but has made herself into a recruiter who wanted to torture her own sister, we can see that Polly is very much her father’s daughter.
Her disdain toward Bughead: I feel that this is a big reason why some people criticise Alice. This point is no longer relevant to the current storyline but it is still an important part of the story. At first Alice’s disdain toward her daughter being involved with Jughead came down to him being a boy of any description. If you factor in WHO Jughead is, the son of Alice’s own high school boyfriend, and father of her only son, you realise why she is so uneasy about this budding romance. Alice is so fearful of Betty following in her footsteps. Polly did. Polly got pregnant as a junior with the BMOC football player, and now Betty is dating FP’s son? Alarm bells went off. This is the woman who plans everything and wanted to fabricate the perfect life for her daughters. She already had one teenage girl end up like herself, and now Betty was literally involved with the flesh and blood of the boy she made a baby with. You can see Alice’s relationship with Jughead change over the 3 seasons. Season 2 had the most growth. She apologised to Jughead for her judgement of him and his serpent friends in 2x17. And in 2x16, she finally came clean to Betty as to why she was so on edge about her having sex with Jughead. This conversation was another stand out moment between mother and daughter and Alice letting Betty into her trust circle. In 3x02, we see Alice being upset with Jughead and many people have used that as an excuse to hate on the woman, but if you look at it from her perspective. Alice’s daughter had a seizure just hours earlier and was already running around trying to solve mysteries. Alice knows Betty better than anyone. She knows Betty inherited her need to get to the bottom of everything, and she knows in her heart that she can’t stop Betty’s curiosity. But Jughead? The boy who loves her daughter, and would do anything to protect her, which is something Alice can relate to. She can hold him responsible with the hope that he might actually listen and agree with wanting to keep Betty out of danger.
Her relationship with FP: The flashback gave us insight into this relationship to help reinforce what the show had already been showing for two seasons. In high school Alice was a serpent girl without any friends. FP was this popular guy who was living under a falsified image. He did not want anyone to know he was a southsider just like she was. We know he came from a rough home life, one with abuse and alcoholism, but he wanted to go places and become something more than that. Maybe Alice resented that about him, we can only guess as to how she felt about that side of things, but what we do know is that Alice is the one who ends up with the life FP always wanted, and his life stays the same. In high school FP and Alice started off as a hook up, that bred into feelings. We know from 3 years of experience watching Riverdale, that the Jones men, and serpents in general tend to struggle with talking about their feelings. FP never talked about how he felt in high school, and we still see him struggle with that in present day. He loves his son, but he doesn’t know how to express that. Alice on the other hand was head over heels for the boy who presumably took her ‘virginity’ but knows that he’s Mr Popular, and she’s just the southside girl he liked to screw under the bleachers. She ended up pregnant and the midnight club months were montaged to show us that fp and alice eventually got their shit together and became a couple. Now, what would a scared 17 year old girl who has never had a boyfriend, or possibly ever had a friend, do? Would she tell this boy who has only recently decided he had feelings for her to, that surprise we are having a baby! Or would she want to keep it to herself out of fear, just to try and hold onto the good she finally has now after so long of wanting him to finally express he has feelings too? We’ve all been there. We all know the feeling of being scared that this person who likes us back, will get spooked off at any moment. When the midnight club fell apart and they all went their separate ways, Alice made a choice, one that is arguably the wrong choice, but she found someone else who had the means to take care of her baby, only he never did. We don’t see much of what happened between high school and present day, but through Jughead’s narrations we know that Alice had spent many years publicly detesting the serpents and the southside. And what have we learnt about Alice? She is a woman who has been holding onto a lot of pain her whole life. Acting out against the people who she has an excuse to dislike, (they’re criminals, it’s easy) is her only outlet for her pain. At home everything is to be perfect. At work she can write whatever she wants about the serpents and the southside, because her readers will read and agree with her. That’s how Riverdale has always been. Northsiders have preconceived ideas of what the southsiders are like, and they don’t care enough to check whether Alice is accurate enough. She gets away with it.
their children get closer, FP and Alice are then thrust back into each other’s lives. She has pushed and pushed for so many years and FP finally has his chance to push her buttons in return. In 1x10, he reminds her of serpent law and has a jab at her, almost taunting the woman for pretending to be something she’s not. She did the same to him in high school, and he finally had his shot to do the same. He’s hurt by everything too. They were fine together until suddenly it was over, and he was the one who drew the short straw. That’s how he sees it. His friend did him dirty and left him to rot in that trailer with a shaky marriage and beer bottles for company. Fred didn’t want anything to do with him professionally, and Alice kept attacking him and his serpents personally. The man had reason to want to bite back and he did so. The dinner Alice invited him to in 1x11, he had his second shot at speaking up to her. He was on his best behaviour and would have kept that way if it wasn’t for Alice taking a jab at his kid. One thing FP and Jughead have in common is their endless love for their children. They are both heavily flawed, but unlike a lot of Riverdale parents, they’d do anything for their kids. FP could take Alice berating him, but Jughead was off limits. He took a swing and it obviously hit her where it hurt. He knew her perfect life wasn’t so perfect and clearly Alice knew it too.
we have Alice feeling comfortable to throw out some playful banter with FP as he finally got released from prison. The man is amused, and really you can’t blame his wrongful assumption that maybe Alice has softened just a little. Right? Then back at Pop’s she is back to her old shit, assuming he was going to be a serpent again. She is still the same judgemental Alice underneath, but he dared to be playful with her just to test the waters. He knows the old Alice is still in there and for the first time in a long time he is playful with her in return. Time passes and Alice is growing increasingly worried about her daughter spending time with serpents. Her fears are returning and FP is the one retiring, so of course the party being for him, makes Alice redirect her fear and upset onto the man. Her confrontation isn’t one of anger, it is one of her fear. She is scared and her public scene reflected that. She came in guns blazing ready to yell at him, but instead he does his best to calm her down. FP and Alice are always quite explosive and neither one gets exactly what they intended. FP accidently blurts out the suggestion of Alice leaving Hal, and Alice is left speechless. It isn’t the words spoken, but the unspoken change in atmosphere between them that speaks volumes here. Alice spent the conversation making up excuses not to attend FP’s party, but ends up taking his invitation seriously. We FINALLY see this woman let her hair down and be herself back in her old stomping ground. Alice misses the life she had where she could have fun and be herself, a person she doesn’t know anymore. We finally see her acting like someone we could all ENJOY. Until her fear comes true. Alice witnesses her daughter’s initiation into the gang she had spent so many years trying to scare her away from. FP clearly recalls the conversation earlier, and in an attempt to avoid Alice embarrassing the teen, he covers the girl up and distracts the audience with a speech.
could have left straight away, taken her daughter far away from that serpent nest, but instead she wanted to hear what FP had to say first. His speech was the opposite of what she was expecting. He mentions her briefly, even looked right at her as he claimed his family turned his back on him. That’s when Alice couldn’t take it anymore. She can’t stay in the bar where everyone knows she left them behind. She turned her back on the serpents and FP once again.
came to Alice wanted a divorce. It wasn’t until then did she approach FP and want to pursue something. She could have done so earlier, but she did not. After sleeping together in 2x17, Alice finally felt happy again until FP got cold feet and iced her out. We literally saw her put her guard down. She was flirting with him, inviting him to come and see her perform. That was Alice holding onto one last bit of happiness and he hurt her again. And you know what happened after that? She spiralled. Gladys came back and Alice wasn’t stomping all over that failed marriage either. FP didn’t want anything to do with the woman known as his wife. Every scene they had was either him ignoring her or being irritated by her actions. Alice was not a home wrecker by any means in canon. She defended FP and Jughead when FP talked down on himself saying everything that went wrong in his family was his fault. We all know how much pain Gladys put Jughead and through, and Alice was the one who defended that boy which once again proves the point that Alice has grown to love and care for Jughead. Which is what I like to call, character development.
Chic/Charles: Alice had spent so long feeling so guilty about giving her son up, and when Hal was firm in saying they shouldn’t meet this son that Betty tracked down for them, Alice agreed. This gave another glimpse into how Alice wasn’t the only one who was controlling. Alice may have been trying to monitor how her girls lived their lives, but on the flipside, Hal was the one who had final say here. She secretly tells Betty she does want to meet her son, and Betty takes her to meet Chic. This boy who is living in Charles’ apartment. Alice didn’t force Betty to find this boy, or to invite him into their home. Betty did this because she wanted her mother to stop being depressed. She loves Alice. This is one of the examples of how Betty has done the wrong thing for the right reasons, which is exactly how Alice and Betty’s relationship works. They do what they can to help the other, but it’s not the right thing to do, and suddenly Alice fans hate Betty, and Betty fans hate Alice. The bottom line is that Betty and Alice love each other so very much, and both Lili and Mädchen would tell you that too. Alice had spent over 20 years longing for this boy, so of course when a boy the right age, and similar features to her own, and her daughters shows up and acts the part of her son, of course she is going to believe he is her son. Chic clearly had his own mommy issues and attached himself to Alice too. People often overlook the Chic situation, when the bottom line is that Alice finally had her baby boy back, and she had been through so much traumatic pain from their separation that she was clinging to that relationship. You cannot blame the woman for holding onto it for dear life after so many years of pain. She believed her own child had killed a man to save her. So of course, she would cover it up. If it had been Betty killing someone, she would have done the exact same thing and we all know it. She wanted Betty to stay out of it. She told her to go to bed, but Betty wanted to help. All of the claims that Alice was a drill sergeant who forced others to be involved is just not true. Alice was handling it on her own but those who love her got involved to help. She didn’t want outside help, but Betty and Jughead involved FP. She did not think “Oh let me call up FP who is on parole and guilt him into helping me.” Either. And she was so heartfeltly sorry to him for his son being involved too. She wanted to believe that Chic was her son, but when he wasn’t and she found out the truth, she owned that and once again she protected Betty. She told Hal she acted alone. She didn’t bring FP or Jughead into it either.
learning that Charles had ‘died’ her first instinct was to go and tell FP the truth. She knew then how wrong it had been to keep it to herself and wanted FP to know. She didn’t do this for sympathy, she even expected him to be mad at her for it, but he wasn’t. The man was clearly hurt but he was not angry with her. Season 3: We can all agree that season 3 was the worst Alice we have ever seen. The writers were so inconsistent and didn’t know what to do with her. Betty is arguably the main character of this show. I know it’s based on Archie, and Jughead is the narrator, but Betty is the main character. This comes down to Lili’s amazing talents and being able to run with whatever the writing throws her way. This pays heavily into why Alice and Betty’s relationship is the way it is. Mädchen and Lili have both said that they want the mother and daughter to just get along instead of this back and forth nonsense, but the show wants Betty to have the most difficult life ever, and with her father being a serial killer, having her mother be an obstacle is something that comes with the territory of them both being played by the most talented cast members. Season 3 Alice was so inconsistent to a point where I stopped watching. Alice giving away Betty’s money made me sick, even Mädchen hated that storyline. The writing was so bad that we got whiplash trying to figure out if Alice was brainwashed every episode or not. And since they decided she was an informant, we are now being forced to believe that she was undercover this whole time. Which makes it more difficult to excuse and make sense of her actions.
The bottom line is that Alice wanted Betty to stay away from the cult in the end, which once again shows that she wants to protect her children. She wants Polly out of the cult. She wanted Betty to give up on saving her. It’s very hard to analyse a season that wasn’t written consistently. And I do not fault anyone for being angry at Alice’s actions in season 3. However that season is over and they started a new direction, one that is now canon. So choosing instances from season 3 to hate Alice for things she hasn’t yet done in season 3 is premature and a waste of your precious time. Hate Alice all you want, but she’s not the villain you want her to be. Alice is the way she is because it makes Betty’s stories family motivated, which is exactly what Alice’s been this entire time. Alice would do anything for her children, just like Betty would do anything for her family, and her boyfriend.

Uuuuh probably long, sappy Scruff fic
an AU where they were childhood friends, but when they meet up again Dareth doesn’t recognize Ronin, and Ronin doesn’t say anything
I’m writing this at 11PM so if there’s typos that’s why
“▒▒▒▒? What are you doing here?”
“Uh, tapping on your window?”
“Psh, you know what I mean. It’s almost two in the morning.”
“I um...”
“What’s wrong?”
“I wanted to say good-bye, maybe.”
“Good-bye? Maybe? What’s going on?”
“I can’t stay here. I’m leaving.”
“What? Did coming out to your parents go that bad?”
“...I haven’t told them.”
“You said–”
“I know, but I can’t, sorry... you... I thought about asking you to come with me but I know you have a future here.”
“▒▒▒▒, come on. Don’t go.”
“I can’t. I can’t keep living like this.”
“You don’t have to. We can figure it out just–”
“I’m sorry.”
---------------------
When Ronin first saw Dareth again his heart got stuck in his throat.
It’s not that he forgot, no, he never forgot. You don’t forget your first and biggest crush that easily, no matter the kind of shit you go through. In fact, he thought about him more often then he’d ever admit. Sometimes he even used his connections to see what the man was up to. A rise and fall in career, off to run a dojo, and then running around with the ninja.
Part of him was surprised, but no, his personality didn’t seem to change all that much. If nothing else he was more carefree in his older age.
But as far as Ronin was concerned they’d never cross paths again, until he had to go and get mixed up with the ninja.
Looking back, stealing Zane and messing with their memories wasn’t the best idea. Of course they came looking for him when more disasters started cropping up.
Still, despite the shock that ran through his system when Dareth first came wandering into his pawn shop, he couldn’t help but get a flash of deja vu. Like it had happened before. Maybe because of that strange dream he had.
With his heart lodged into his airway, he held his breath. As if Dareth hadn’t been cute enough when they were teens, now he was just gorgeous. He still had dimples when he smiled, which he was doing a lot of as he studied the shelves. Big brown eyes, gorgeous brown hair, all complimented with his brown robes that had no business showing that much of his chest hair.
He held his breath so long he got dizzy and forced himself to inhale, hoping it wasn’t as noisy as it felt. He didn’t move, he didn’t dare. He just sat there, waiting for Dareth to approach, waiting to see if the man would even recognize him.
Maybe not, not as if Ronin looked at all the same as he did back then, but there was a chance right?
Eventually Dareth wandered up to the counter. He rested it elbow on it, leaning against his hand, eyes half lidded.
“Nice place.” Dareth grinned. “Don’t happen to have any spare trophies, do you?”
Ronin couldn’t stop himself. Habit kicked in because, of course Dareth still had the same habits he did in high school. How many times did he use that move to get Ronin to chuckle when he was feeling awful?
So once again he was laughing. Caught himself too late to stop it, but quick enough to clear his throat and pretend nothing happened.
“Yeah, I’ve stolen–er, acquired a number of them. Probably be easy to change the name plate.”
Dareth laughed this time, grinning wider. “Hah, I was kind of joking but that’s good to know. Might look into it when I get some spare money.”
Ronin crossed his arms, relaxing against the counter. “Have to build up your wall of fake accomplishments huh?”
“Hey,” Dareth pointed. “Some of them are real. Just like to... add emphasis you know?”
Ronin found himself smiling again. It felt so easy, so natural, like they hadn’t been apart for almost thirty years. Maybe Dareth did recognize him.
“So, what’s your name? Haven’t seen you in town before.”
Well, so much for that hope.
“It’s Ronin.” He answered. “And that’s all you need to know.”
“Ronin huh? Sounds familiar. Something familiar about you.” Dareth leaned in close again, squinting. “Can’t seem to place it.”
Ronin let out a nervous laugh and moved away. “Hah, well, I get that a lot. Eyepatch makes it hard for people to get a proper read on my face.”
“Swear you were in a dream somewhere.” Dareth hummed as he straightened up. “Maybe I’m remembering wrong.”
If they wound up having the same dream that would be something freaky. For now, Ronin ignored it.
“So, if you’re not in the mood for trophies can I convince you to buy anything else?”
“Oh? Just what would you try selling someone like me?”
“I have a killer collection of old records.”
Dareth gave a mock gasp. “How did you know that would get my attention?”
Ronin shrugged, but his gaze darted to the side.
“Lucky guess.”
------------------------
Ronin told himself that it was a childhood crush. It had been almost thirty years. It was over. Done. Finished.
That’s what he kept telling himself when Dareth visited more and more often. It’s what he emphasized with Dareth accidentally broke his leg. It’s what he chanted in his head on loop whenever the man would check on him in the hospital, or back at his home. It’s what he whispered to himself whenever Dareth would leave, a smile from the earlier conversation still lingering on his face.
Damn it, it wasn’t supposed to be like this.
Why couldn’t he just grow up?
But part of him didn’t want to, especially where Dareth was concerned. Talking to him was effortless. He couldn’t even remember the last time he laughed this much.
And there was plenty of conversation to be had when he was helping put Laffy’s together. By now they’d developed some inside jokes, that left Nya staring between the two of them as they tried to cover up their laughter. There were paint fights, Dareth tossing ice down the back of his shirt, and at least two late nights Dareth convinced him to dance around the still-being-built dining room floor.
Well, even if Dareth didn’t remember him, it’s not like Ronin didn’t have a chance, right?
But somehow that felt deceptive, twice as deceptive as it normally did. The biggest reason he avoided any kind of long term relationship, apart from the fact he just sucked at them.
At some point they’d find out, and what would they say then?
Then again, Dareth already knew back then, at least partially. He’d been one of the few people Ronin could even trust with a secret like that. There’s no way the man would judge him for it now.
But that still left the matter of telling him.
Of course an opportunity would come leaping out at him over a pair of drinks. Laffy’s was long closed for the night, most of the cleaning done, but after a busy day like that Dareth convinced Ronin to stay.
For once he wasn’t overdoing it, but he’d had enough to start feeling tipsy. By now he’d shoved his empty glass to the edge of the counter so he wasn’t tempted to look for more.
“You ever been in love?” Dareth mumbled.
The question had come from nowhere. After a lengthy conversation on whether Tron needed a reboot or not, there’d been nothing but silence. Then that.
Ronin blinked, trying to get his eye to focus. In the end it just settled on Dareth. “Once.”
“Only once?” Dareth stare was full of doubt. “Come on now.”
“Only once.” Ronin said. “Would you believe it was on my childhood friend?”
Dareth hummed. “I guess I’d believe that. Strong bonds and all.”
Hah, yeah right. Ronin snorted, ignoring the urge to reach for his empty glass. “I ran away from home at fifteen. Last time I saw him.” Well, that was a lie, but Dareth didn’t need to know that yet.
“Huh? Why did you run?” Dareth frowned.
Ronin bit his lip, rolling it between his teeth. “I just... couldn’t keep living like that.”
His friend snorted, almost burst out laughing. “Funny, that’s what my friend said.”
Once again his heart lodged in his throat. “What?”
“I had a friend run away when I was in high school. They... they were dealing with a lot. I got it. But it still sucked.” He rested his face on his palm. “Sometimes wish I had run with them.”
Ronin rolled his eye. “Trust me Dareth, you don’t.”
“Oh? And how would you know.” The man looked at him again. “It’s not like you were–”
Dareth froze. His eyes went wide, mouth hanging open. He was looking at Ronin like he’d seen him for the first time.
Then recognition swept over him, then something else, as if he was in pain. “Ronin?”
Ronin ignored how fast his heart was racing. “Yeah?”
“Did you... did you used to know me?”
Once again he was biting his lip as he nodded.
Dareth stood up, nudging his stool back. “It was you! That’s why you looked so familiar. Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Say what?” He ignored how his voice cracked when he spoke. “Part of me assumed you forgot me for a reason.”
“I never forgot you.” Dareth protested. “I just didn’t recognize you. I mean look at you.” He gestured from Ronin’s face down to his legs. “If you hadn’t made that comment and convinced me to take a hard look I still wouldn’t have noticed.”
“Well, on one hand it’s a good thing I look so different.” Ronin kept avoiding eye contact, leaning on his prosthetic hand. “But sorry, guess I should have brought it up sooner.”
“Hang on.”
“Hm?”
“You were in love with me?”
His face slipped, and he would have slammed his chin into the counter if he hadn’t caught himself and sat up completely straight.
Fuck.
Fuck fuck fuck.
“W-well.” Ronin sputtered. “You just... were really nice you know.” He laughed, because that always covers it up, right? “And cute. But I was never... I mean I wouldn’t have...” More nervous laughter before he cleared his throat. “You don’t have to worry about it.”
He was hoping Dareth would laugh it off with him, but the man’s face was serious, gaze fixed on him. Ronin swore the room just jumped three degrees. He rubbed the back of his neck to get rid of some imaginary sweat.
“Do you still feel that way?” Dareth took a step toward him.
“I...” Ronin hesitated, not sure what to say. Instinct told him to keep denying it, but judging from the way Dareth kept glancing at his lips, that wasn’t the right answer. “Honestly?” He swallowed. “I’m... probably more in love with you now than I ever was.”
Dareth reached out, taking his right hand and sliding their fingers together. Ronin didn’t move, didn’t breath. He just kept staring until Dareth was so close that it felt rude. His eyes closed when their noses brushed together and he sighed when their lips met.
That contact had his brain dragging up a dozen daydreams. Before he could catch up he found his free hand sliding behind Dareth’s neck, into his hair, pulling him as close as possible.
Dareth responded by placing his hand on Ronin’s back. Their attempt to get even closer forced Ronin to stand up, not that he was complaining. It was easier to kiss when he wasn’t tilting his head so much.
Ronin let go of Dareth’s hand, putting both of them on either side of the man’s face as he deepened the kiss. Dareth wound up turning them both, pushing Ronin against the bar counter. The impact had him gasping, reminding him to breath.
“You know,” Dareth said as he kissed Ronin’s cheek and then his ear. “I always pictured doing this next to the jukebox the first time around.”
Ronin laughed, not bothering to stop the man as he moved to his neck. “Funny, my first day dream was always on the roof of my house.”
“You really liked me for that long?” Dareth kissed his collar.
Ronin sighed but forced himself not to melt under the contact as he pushed back. In a flash he had Dareth pinned against the counter instead. “Admittedly I forgot about it for a while, but then you had to show up looking fifty times more gorgeous than you ever did.”
Dareth blinked, seemingly surprised. “Hah, gorgeous? Ronin, I wouldn’t–”
“Don’t tell me I’m wrong.” It was his turn to kiss Dareth’s neck now. “No one’s ever taken my breath away as fast as you.”
“You’re one to talk.” He put his hand on Ronin’s cheek, forcing him to look back up. “Just look at you.”
“You better not call me pretty.” Ronin pretended to pout.
Dareth shook his head. “No, pretty’s not the right word, but I at least know it suits you so much more.” He ran a hand through Ronin’s hair, letting the strands fall back into place. “You just look so much more like... you.”
God, the most frustrating this about this man was that his words always wound up twice as gorgeous as his face was. Ronin tugged him back into a kiss, not sure how else to phrase his appreciation.
Before he could get in too deep a second time, however, Dareth gently nudged him back with a hand against his chest.
“Not that I’m not enjoying this.” His cheeks were stark red, the color reaching all the way to his neck. “But I thinking we might want to slow down just a touch.”
Right, that was probably a good idea. Hell, were either of them even sober right now?
“Want me to take you home?” Dareth offered.
Ronin snorted. “If you come with me what makes you think you’ll make it home.”
That blush was only getting worse. “Right.”
Ronin smiled and leaned forward, kissing Dareth on the nose. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Dareth blinked a few times, as if regaining his composure. “Right, see you tomorrow, Roni.”
“Roni?”
“Uh, yeah, nickname.” Dareth grinned. “Don’t like it?”
Ronin thought about it for a moment. At least it was a change of pace to his codename that had just turned into his regular name. “Nah, it’s fine. Just don’t use it in front of the ninja.”
Dareth laughed at that. “Oh yeah, I can see how that would go. Kai would never quit calling you Roni.” He poked Ronin in the side.
He squeaked as he took a step back. “Hey!”
“Oh, so you are still ticklish in that spot.” Dareth kept grinning. “Good to know.”
“Dareth, don’t you dare.”
“Aw, come here, just want to give you a good night hug.”
“You do not, you liar.” Ronin darted away to keep his distance. The pair of them ran circles around the dining room, but despite being out of breath Ronin couldn’t stop laughing.
For the first time since he ran away he felt like he was home again.

ONE GIANT LEAP Brockley Jack Theatre 2 – 27 July 2019 “That’s one small step for man…” Neil Armstrong INTERVIEW WITH WRITER & DIRECTOR OF ARROWS AND TRAPS THEATRE, ROSS MCGREGOR LPT: Hello Ross, We’re rather pleased to have another chat with you about your company, the award nominated Arrows & Traps but also wanted to grill you a little bit on your new writing, ONE GIANT LEAP. How long did it take you to write it? Hi there, how lovely to be asked. I have a somewhat unusual process in that I pitch the idea to the Jack, book the slot, design the artwork / poster, get the show on sale, start selling tickets and only then start writing the script. This is partly due to the quick turnaround of shows and my lack of time between, and also that we have to book these things quite far in advance as the Jack is a popular and sought-after space, but also because I have an issue with self-discipline, and so if I didn’t have a concrete deadline, I think I’d still be tinkering with Frankenstein, a show I wrote and produced in 2017. One Giant Leap is the first completely original piece that I’ve written without a source material, and it took me about two weeks to get onto paper. ONE GIANT LEAP is celebrating the fiftieth Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing but it seems you have got your own spin on it. Could you tell us the story in nutshell? Yes absolutely. It’s a comic take on the greatest conspiracy in history. It centres on Edward Price, a producer of a failing 60’s sci-fi show called Moonsaber – which is basically a poor man’s Star Trek. Edward’s life has fallen into a rut, his wife has left him, he’s lost his house to the IRS, and Moonsaber has just been cancelled in its first season. All looks grim, until a representative to President Nixon comes to his door with a suitcase of money and a proposition. The Apollo 11 Moon Landing is four days away, but due to the moon being about a hundred degrees too hot for photographic film; they can get there, they just can’t film it. And what is a massive propaganda exercise without proof that you actually did it? So they ask Edward to fake the footage by any means possible, if he can do it, he can bring Moonsaber back to life for another season, if he fails – he loses everything. Where does the comedy come from? Mainly from the people that Edward employs in Moonsaber. They’re a ragtag bunch of actors, stage managers and technicians, and due to the show being cancelled – they’re falling apart at the seams – it’s down to Edward to keep it all together, to pull off the greatest lie in history, whilst trying to save his marriage, salvage his career, and keep the lies he’s telling intact. It’s a study of the creative industry, a satirical and loving homage to theatre. We’re not trying to say anything serious about whether the moon landing was or wasn’t real, but more provide a raucous night out at the theatre, and keep you laughing about it on the Overground home. Why is it important to offer a lighter comedy in theatre right now? I think, at times, theatre can take itself too seriously, and become too myopic about tackling the dark and dreadful issues that are affecting society – I’ve lost count of how many shows there are about Brexit playing right now – and whilst that’s great, and admirable - speaking for myself, after the last year I’m sick of the darkness, I’m bored by the constant stream of depressive updates about the rise of the Right, I can’t engage with it, the European elections gave a victory to nationalists, we gave a state visit to a racist, homelessness is at an all-time high, and we’re literally cooking the planet to death. There are sometimes when I just want a great night out and forget how scary the world seems right now – laughter is the best medicine – not as a retreat, but a reminder of the good in us, of the joy, of the light. As the company is repertory, you’ll be working with some actors you know very well. Did you have any of them in mind when you were writing the script? I certainly wrote two of the eight roles with long time company members Will Pinchin and Lucy Loannou in mind. And whilst yes, the roles are tailored to suit both of them - I did write the roles of Howard and Alchamy to stretch and challenge Will and Lucy, because I’d never seen them play characters like that. Will is nothing like Howard, and Lucy isn’t at all like Alchamy, but in way, they’re made for those roles, and for me, they’re perfect choices. I do like working with the same actors repeatedly, it is true, because you build up a short hand of technique and approach, but also you build up a trust. The actors in the company come in on day one, sort of knowing what to bring me, and what kind of vision I’ll probably have, since my style is something of a constant, but also I’m able to, as their director, cast them in roles that perhaps play against type, or test their flexibility and skillsets. I’m not an actor, but if I were, I’d hate to play the same roles every time, to only get the “intense one” or the “dopey one” or the “awkward one” – I’d want to think I could play anything that was thrown at me, and I think our rep system allows for experimentation and exploration. What has been the hardest part of the whole process to date? We’re only in the first week of rehearsal, so nothing too taxing thus far. Hands down, the hardest part of a comedy is when you’ve rehearsed it so much you no longer find it funny, at which point we need an audience. One Giant Leap hasn’t hit that point yet, obviously, but I think most comic work benefits from the response and energy an audience gives. Theatre can be electric when you have that to play off, but in terms of where we are – One Giant Leap’s greatest challenge is the analysing of why something is funny, and making sure it’s that way every time. It’s all about timing. For many years I laboured under the misapprehension that stand up comedy was just a funny person being funny with a microphone, that was until I saw Dylan Moran do the same set twice in the space of three weeks. He has a very casual, off the cuff, almost improvised way of performing, and I assumed that it was just his natural charisma and quick wit, until I saw the set the second time, only to find it was identical to the first. All the pauses, the stresses, the tangents, the quips, all of which was honed, polished and a work of precision. It was funny because he’d worked out the best way to get the laugh, every time, and that’s beyond art, it’s science, it’s music. Traditionally Arrows and Traps have produced a selection of brilliantly adapted classics, including Dracula, Frankenstein, Crime & Punishment and Anna Karenina. Have you got a soft spot for one of them? I loved the breathlessness and breadth of Anna Karenina, the precision and murk of Crime & Punishment, the thrill and gothicism of Dracula, and the humanity and pang of loss in Frankenstein. I think my favourite adaptation, if I had to pick one, is probably Frankenstein – but that’s purely subjective, and there was something about the biography of Mary Shelley, which we incorporated into the show, that really spoke to me – in the sense of a creator and a creation, a parent and child, a sinner and the terrible revenge. You’ve also got THE STRANGE CASE OF JEKYLL & HYDE coming up at Jack Studio in September. Your adaptations of the classics have been Arrows and Traps main focus, so does ONE GIANT LEAP herald a shift away from this? No, in fact because I know the next season of shows, One Giant Leap is perhaps the anomaly. Our work normally has a dark bent, we favour drama with funny lines as opposed to an out-and-out comedy. We’ve only ever done one full comedy before, The Gospel According To Philip back in 2016, so this is something of a return to that. I knew that the company was changing, and wanted to make a swansong to the current phase of work, I had originally planned for it to be TARO but that story ended so sadly, I wanted the last one to be lighter, more celebratory – there’s something inherently amusing about the various tropes you usually get in the theatre world, and so I thought a comedy would be a fitting homage to where we’ve come from, and a clean break to where we want to go next. The company has been going from strength to strength, what are the things of which you are most proud? Mainly, that we’re still going. Most theatre companies on the fringe don’t make it to their third show, we’re on our seventeenth. Part of that is sheer stubbornness, there have been points where any rational person would have thrown in the towel, but there was always something in me that would never bend, never break, never give up. It’s part ambition, part not wanting to fail, part wanting to make my father proud of me, part bloody-mindedness, part theatre-addiction. I think production-wise I’m most proud of The White Rose, to what that achieved, all the five star reviews and the Best Production Offie-nom, but of course I’m also very proud of the other twelve times we’ve been nominated for Off West End Awards, the relationship we’ve built with the Jack, the bond I have with my creative team and my casts, and just the fact that people seem to like the work. It’s still always funny to me when a reviewer calls us “critically-acclaimed” or “renowned rep company” – to me it’s just me, telling the stories I want to tell, with people I want to work with, you don’t always think about how it looks from the outside. I’m just producing the theatre I’d like to go and see. It was rumoured that you would be leaving fringe theatre for other careers, partly because of problems with funding. Was there are truth in that? Absolutely! And in a sense, this is still completely true. I am indeed done with fringe. I think I got to The White Rose in 2018 – where we got the Offie-Nom for Production, we had eight 5-star reviews, four 4 star reviews, we’d completely sold out, and done it the cheapest way possible, and we still didn’t break even. Which was very hard to take, and forced me to face the truth – you cannot hope to attain best practice ITC rates for your casts / creatives / yourself if you only do 15 shows in a 50 seater and you don’t have subsidising support from an arts grant scheme. It just isn’t possible. So I made the decision to stop producing work. Now obviously, with the shows being booked so far in advance, there were still three productions upcoming in the diary that I had to honour. But knowing I was quitting, and that this was the end for me, was too hard to bear - ultimately I had to face the fact that theatre is my life, and I could never leave it – so I had to find a way to make it work financially, not just for myself but for everyone else in the company, particularly the actors who are so often completely screwed over in fringe, and often end up working for nothing. Which is where the idea to change the model came from. Shrink the casts and sets to a more tourable model – 14 people down to 4 – and engage a tour booker to take the productions out of London to larger spaces that could widen the potential revenue. The Jack is our home, and we will always premiere all our shows there, but then we will take them into the provinces. The vision is still the same, adaptations of literary work, and biopics of iconic figures of history, but the remit and scale of the endeavour has changed. I don’t see it as an ending, just a moving from one phase into another. But yes, absolutely, the 8-10 handers, movement-heavy, ensemble, big music, huge shows – this stage in our trajectory is ending with One Giant Leap, and whilst I see why it has to end, a part of me is sad to see it go, because there was something so wonderful about doing a massive 15-hander like Three Sisters. Are you one of those people who is meticulously planning the future? Yes indeed, because really we have to plan ahead in order to book the shows with the venues. We’re doing One Giant Leap next month, and then move to Jeykll & Hyde in September, both at the Jack – and then Hyde goes on tour for about six months, with an opening of our next biopic Chaplin coming about halfway through the run in February. Because I’m overseeing contracts, and touring plans, and writing the scripts as well as casting each show and most likely directing each one, I need to know where we’ll be and when we’re doing it – I’m trying to build a book of shows, a repertoire that is constantly touring, moving forward, and ever-evolving – reaching more audiences, and engaging with new communities. In the meantime, we can’t wait to see ONE GIANT LEAP. Could you give us a little flavour of what’s to come? In terms of shows after One Giant Leap, we have Jekyll & Hyde - a dark, political thriller set in a post-Trump America – a gritty examination of the corruption of power, then Chaplin – which tells the story of the 20th Century’s most famous clown, documenting his path to becoming the iconic Little Tramp – and his meteoric rise from Victorian poverty to Hollywood fame. After that, we’re bringing back one of our most successful productions of 2017, Frankenstein, revisited and rewritten for a more tourable model, and then a biopic of Marilyn Monroe, called Making Marilyn, which covers the Norma Jean origin portion of the star’s life. After that – who knows? I’ve always wanted to tackle Madame Bovary – and I’d like to bring back TARO as it was one that I was particularly proud of in terms of its style and poetry. Finally, your shows at Brockley Jack are becoming legendary, it’s a great partnership. What are the things you’ve learnt about theatre whilst working at Brockley Jack? So much. The Jack has been a great place to develop my approach to stagecraft, and how to tell stories as clearly and engagingly as possible. Since we joined the Jack, we’ve built a vision of the style we want to have, and how we approach each difficulty, or tricky moment to stage, how our work with movement and text interconnect, and what we look for in our ensemble for each show. And, I guess, ultimately, I’ve being able to return to my training as a writer, and I’ve been so lucky to have so many opportunities to experiment with my writing, and get to think about how to tell a story and how to build each character. Playwriting is not something I’ve tried before, and I’ve loved delving into each of the worlds that the Jack has opened the door to. But I think most of all, I’ve been honoured by the patronage and support of Kate and Karl – and they’ve shown me the power of hard work, diligence, and care – if I ended up with anything like the talent and acumen they have, I’d be very happy. @June 2019 London Pub Theatres Magazine Ltd All Rights Reserved THIS SHOW HAS ENDED ONE GIANT LEAP Brockley Jack Theatre 2 – 27 July 2019 directed by Ross McGregor produced by Arrows & Traps Theatre Productions Box Office > Below: Rehearsals at Brockley Jack Studio "We’re not trying to say anything serious about whether the moon landing was or wasn’t real, but more provide a raucous night out at the theatre, and keep you laughing about it on the Overground home." In celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, Arrows & Traps Theatre bring their critically-acclaimed approach to a brand-new comedy set in the back streets of a Hollywood lot. One Giant Leap is about the power of having an impossible dream, realising it’s impossible, and then trying your hardest to fake it and hope no one notices.

Starbomb Ch. 1
Fandom: BNHA Pairing: Bakugou x Uraraka Genre: Romance and Comedy probably Summary: After Uraraka sends Bakugou flying into the air, the short-tempered hero-in-training gets the idea of marrying Uravity for her quirk one day. Shenanigans ensue.
Chapter I Chapter II Chapter III Chapter IV Chapter V Chapter VI Chapter VII
Somewhere between ten and twenty meters into the atmosphere, Bakugou Katsuki realized his helplessness. Perhaps his blasts could return him to a comfortable distance from the ground, but for that moment, he would have preferred to use that energy in a more constructive manner and aim it at his assailant - Uraraka Ochako. He should have put her in her place when he had the chance.
Then, Bakugou's eyes met with hers. Amongst the blonde's barking and the roars of laughter from his classmates below, the cacophony faded into his stark realization. Uraraka's smug smile shined up at him with a haughty taunt. She was in power from the moment she shoved him into the air, and there were few options he could do to give him the advantage in a fight. However, he envied her position, and as he stayed suspended, he wished for her advantage.
Explosions could not have possibly incited the degree of futility that anti-gravity did. Eventually, his opponents could more than likely find some kind of pattern, but this feeling - his stomach turned in his gut like some kind of painfully slow roller coaster.
Before teachers returned, she decided to give him relief - but not without the last laugh. When she increased gravity's pull on him with a simple hand sign, she made sure that he would be light enough to catch in her arms. And so, she did. "Sorry," she apologized, "you were pickin' a fight with Deku, so I had to do something." Naturally, the gesture earned another burst of laughs from her peers.
"I'm gonna blast your fucking face off, fucker! Put me down!" he shouted.
When Uraraka finally released him, she turned around to Deku who sweat bullets and put his hands up slightly below his chin. The anti-gravity girl always found his nervous gesticulations endearing. He was always modest and kind towards everyone - already, a true hero. She smiled, "Where do you wanna eat lunch today?" Surely, he could have handled himself, but she didn't mind having a bit of fun with his long-term tormentor.
Satisfied, the crowd that had swarmed the scene dispersed to their desired corners of the campus for food at the same time that a teacher noticed the commotion. Unfortunately, that meant that Bakugou had to refrain from seeking his revenge at that moment. Lucky for her, too! He would have destroyed her.
Midoriya didn't want to anger his former childhood friend. While he thoroughly appreciated Uraraka's heroic deed, he would have spared Bakugou the humiliation. Fortunately, the bellicose boy had remained pensive above the ground instead of attacking everyone in sight. While he had made headway with his integrity since entering U.A., that particular moment signified a profound mark of maturity.
Iida grinned and touted Uraraka's bravery as he patted her shoulders, "Your courage knows no bounds, Uraraka."
Whether or not Uraraka and Midoriya were aware, Iida like the rest of their class implored their relationship. Since they adored Midoriya, they wanted him to be with someone like Ochako - a sweet, delightful cutie that had been by his side since the first day of school. Within the insufferably chaste classroom, they yearned for the class sweethearts to realize their feelings for each other and take the plunge into a fruitful relationship.
So then, witnessing what they saw as a grand, romantic gesture only heralded the monumental confession that would cement a timeless romantic bond.
Well, everyone cheered for them except for Bakugou who had been indifferent up until that day, and, when grazed by the objectively endearing display, he developed an acrid taste of revulsion that stuck with him for the remainder of the day.
"Let's sit by the tree outside. It's a nice day, right?" suggested Uraraka to her group of friends as she led the way around the corner.
Her male companions gleefully followed.
Midoriya enjoyed the warm air that Uraraka carried with her. Her encouragement had nurtured him since his beginning as a hero-in-training. Without her, he was uncertain how he would have developed into the person he was at that point. Somehow, the rumors and sentiments of the class regarding his friendship with Uraraka hadn't reached him. Maybe he had been too wrapped in his personal goals to pay much heed to the future of their friendship.
For the time, he enjoyed the seconds one by one.
Bakugou mumbled and snarled under his breath since the infuriating incident. He incinerated his lunch before he could finish it, but that was FINE! He wasn't hungry anyway - not with the sickening image of that girl on his mind. In fact, her smarmy smirk burned into the foundation of his minds and exploded and expanded into his dangerous fixation.
Kirishima thought he could allow the rage to gradually leave Bakugou's body by staying quiet. For most of that year, the bomber man had made progress with managing his destructive anger. However, that day was different, and he had no idea why. Perhaps the most confounding mystery of his scuffle with Uravity was how he didn't put up much of a fight. True, they weren't on the battlefield, but typically, Bakugou would have put more effort into somehow retaliating.
Bakugou recalled the fluttering in his abdomen accompanied by the heated bursts in his chest as he stared down into her wide, brown eyes. And, no matter how many times he violently shook his head, the sensations clung to him. This situation had gotten out of hand and became more complex than he could comprehend in one sitting. Maybe, he had witnessed first-hand the helplessness that she could incite in a foe.
Then, his great epiphany arose from beyond the horizon of his despair and brightened his outlook. He had heard about the concept of quirk marriages - two people with quirks could conceive a child with an unprecedented quirk. Naturally, since Bakugou aimed for the best in every aspect of his life, marrying for power was the only option he saw at that naive stage in his young life.
Rejuvenated was his hunger but not for the lunch that he carelessly disintegrated. From that point, he mused over his fortuitous brush with fate and voraciously anticipated the inevitable.
That onset of humility and infirmity must have meant one thing and one thing alone - that anti-gravity power was destined to merge with his future.
He flashed his sinister grin as he unleashed a notebook from his satchel and slammed it to the table before him.
"W-What are you doing?" questioned Kirishima. There was a huge chance the blond couldn't hear him through the thick, malicious air.
Once his pen hit the paper, he didn't lift it for the rest of lunch period and the entirety of class. The logistics of their powers came together as he sketched out the sweet melody of raining destruction. Nebulaboom! Supernova Destruction! No, Starbomber! The ideas flooded pages of his notebook while he sat through the remainder of his lectures.
By the end of the school day, he had built the necessary resolve to share his intentions with Uraraka herself.
"Round-face," he addressed her immediately following the bell. "Meet me down in the courtyard of the dorms in an hour." Although he could have said what he wanted to in that instance, he had to explain his logical conclusion and that would require food in the interim.
Uraraka glanced over her shoulder and had to do a double-take to make sure that he was talking to her. "Uh, okay," she replied. Naturally, she assumed that he wanted a rematch of some kind. Maybe a respectable spar. However, there was an uncanny sense of calm about his aura that hadn't been present earlier that day. She shivered before she walked away with her group of friends.
He wasn't going to try to kill her, was he?
The rain had been falling all afternoon since lunch. Bakugou's soaked shoulders failed to slump as he waited from the time he retrieved a new, late lunch. She hadn't shown up yet. The weather may have dampened him and all his clothes, but it hadn't dampened his determination!
Soon, the rain paused and allowed for sunlight to pass through the tree that he sat beneath.
After having forgotten about the entire agreement, Uraraka spotted the angry young man through a window from the cozy, warm dorms. For some reason, she assumed the weather would have deterred him. Rain would have surely subdued his quirk. Didn't he need sweat or something? And, he wasn't the type to give her such an advantage. Either way, the rain had ceased.
She sighed and made her way down the stairs and to the courtyard against her better judgment. At that point, she would have understood if he lunged at her. "Sorry," she apologized. "I forgot that you said you wanted to fight. I don't really wanna get in trouble, okay?"
Uraraka at least respected Bakugou. She trusted him enough to ally with him in times of need, but she would never even trust him to watch her abandoned belongings. She wouldn't trust him with much information, either. Definitely, she knew that she couldn't trust him to treat Deku well. Maybe she could have also apologized again for sending him into the air. Everyone knew Bakugou's fragile pride could break under innocuous circumstances.
But, yes, she at least respected him - for whatever reason.
"I'm sorry for earlier, too. I won't do that again unless we're in a fight," she vowed with an unnerved smile.
Jumping to his feet, he disregarded every word she may have said and began, "You think you can prance around from here on out like I'm some pathetic wimp and juggle me like I'm one of your cheap, shitty circus tricks? Never again, round-face! You're going fucking down, and you're mine now, got that? From this day on, you focus on me because I'm not holding back, and you're not going to run away from me either."
What was he saying? She tilted her head after that vehement monolog. "Uh," stammered Uraraka, "So, do you wanna fight?"
"Give me a break," scoffed Bakugou. "This isn't some pathetic question. I don't know who the fuck you think I am. I'm telling you what's going to happen."
Was he saying that he wanted to fight later? She bit her lip and slowly backed away. He certainly was not being clear, or maybe, she didn't understand his language. "'Kay," replied Uraraka. "I'll see you later then?" She limply raised the palm of her hand to wave goodbye despite her uncertainty on what exactly he said.
When he didn't respond and remained still with his fuming nose in the air, she slowly shuffled off to the dorms.
"What was that about?" asked Midoriya when Uraraka returned.
"I dunno. I couldn't really tell what he was sayin'," she shrugged before they joined up with Iida.
So then, Bakugou knew that he had cemented his future and the vitality his lineage with ease. He could go back to training to become the world's top hero. However, he found her behavior following their encounter to be rather obnoxious. There was a fine line between overly chummy behavior and a flippantly distant demeanor, and on that fine line, was the satisfactory reaction that Bakugou expected.
Of course, if she thought his explanation meant they were suddenly friends, he would push her away from him. But, that never fucking happened even once. He didn't have the time or the emotional intelligence to contemplate his sentiments. Oftentimes, he'd assumed that he either felt anger or frustration. The possibility that he could have wanted her closer failed to cross his mind.
He wanted her under him. And, naturally, he was not capable of understanding that phrase as a double-entendre.
All in all, he expected a simple acknowledgment from time to time. Why did he expect that? He had no time to think about that shit all day. The fact of the matter was, she wasn't giving it to him!
The important and most angering aspect of this situation was the issue that she hung out with that damn dork and his nerdy friend day in and day out. A few weeks passed, and she repeated the same worn out joke of avoiding him. Was she taunting him yet again? Did she doubt his capability? No, she looked down at him and mocked his entire proposition! He didn't have the time or energy to dwell on this for too long, and so, he needed to address the issue as soon as possible.
Indifferent to his witnesses, Bakugou took a stand once Uraraka blew the final fuse one day by bumping into his desk without a simple apology. Accompanying the cry of the bell, Bakugou roared, "If we're going to get married, then you can't dance around with that nerd."
Of course, that spark of drama caught the eye of every one of his classmates. "Married? What are they talking about?" murmured various voices as they stopped to spectate the scene.
"What?" gasped Midoriya. Did he miss something?
"I don't know what he's talkin' about!" declared Uraraka as her face colored red. Where did that come from? And, why did he have to say something that stupid in front of Midoriya? She shivered beneath the gaze of everyone in class. Maybe this had to do with his outburst on that rainy day a few weeks before - but, thinking back, she couldn't remember anything that would have indicated marriage. "You've got the wrong idea."
"Don't you dare fucking play games with me, Uraraka," Bakugou growled each syllable of her name as he stepped towards the woman. "I already told you what was going to happen."
Iida stepped up first. "I am not sure what you're referring to, but we're all too young to get married."
"You butt out of this."
Everyone wanted to boo. Afterall, the degenerate known as Bakugou threatened the bond of 1-A's sweethearts. How characteristic of him to ruin a pure love between Midoriya and Uraraka - who weren't dating, mind you, but that was aside from the point. The potential of their loving relationship mattered the most.
Midoriya put a few fingers to his chin and tilted his head down to contemplate the situation. Bakugou often had difficulty putting himself in the minds of other people outside the battlefield, so this case must have hardly differed. Perhaps, he saw the advantages in reproducing Uraraka's quirk with his, so for that reason, he wanted to marry her. The potential of that happening sank Midoriya's stomach.
If Bakugou wanted to marry Uraraka out of love, then Midoriya could respect it. If that wasn't the case, then Midoriya had to decide if he should intervene. They were a few years away from being able to legally commit, so was the conflict worth a fight? There must have been something that Deku failed to properly detect. Meanwhile, the grief and shame in Uraraka's frown were enough to urge Midoriya to end the scene somehow.
Kirishima knew that he was the only one who could possibly quell the situation. He stepped in and blocked the trio of Midoriya, Uraraka, and Iida from Bakugou's line of sight to say, "Hey, you didn't tell me anything about this. We should talk about it when we study for that test tonight."
Right, they had an upcoming exam.
Bakugou could rationalize postponing this interrogation until he took care of his present affairs. "Yeah, okay," he mumbled before he exited the scene.
With that, the class collectively let out a deep sigh - everyone except for Shouto who had something he needed to address with their class's infamous Katsuki Bakugou.

another short story, wooo
Like a couple others, this one’s been sitting around for a month...since I’m posting 2 short stories, I may post the next one in like 2 weeks.
I do plan on posting some of these onto AO3, but I think I’ll post the ones with the most notes.
Set in between Captivate and Sanctuary (moment was briefly mentioned).
Zack is still getting used to being with Rachel in a whole new way, but never in his life would he ever hear such a word that she would describe him as.
Things have changed since Isaac and Rachel recognized their feelings for one another, the two interacted the same, but there were times where Zack would hesitate to show a new side to their relationship. Sure, he enjoyed the feelings he had for her, though, he was still adjusting to showing his affection more openly and not from impulse. Rachel was patient, acting soft was something he rarely did, but she was there to assure him that it was normal.
When Zack did show his affection, he was almost like a different person, yet his gruff personality was still there.
Aside from all that, the two have done well together to live in their nomadic lifestyle. Zack’s experience throughout his life helped Ray adapt and the young woman’s smarts helped the pair improve upon it.
The town they eventually stumbled in seemed a bit upper class, there was no way they could find a motel to camp in for the night without being questioned. Despite the nicer buildings all over the place, there were some abandoned structures set to be future construction projects, it was a better option to have a roof over their head, than to sleep on the streets. So, the two took shelter in an old apartment complex, Ray always found a way to make even the shadiest of places look livable, and with the money they had collected over time, she stocked up on a few items for situations like this. She had gotten a new carry bag and filled it with a couple small LED lamps, and a rollup sleeping bag that the two of them would share.
Zack would let her set up their temporary living quarters to however she saw fit, it was rather amusing really - hell, Ray seemed to have this mentality to always take care of him now. She spent her time to teach him how to read, how to open up emotionally around her more, and even tended to him to keep him healthy and groomed. Zack never asked her to do those things, she just did them on her own free will and would insist when he’d question Ray.
Isaac assumed it was something couples probably did, he was still learning what it was like to be one after all, aside from embraces or even a kiss here and there.
Once Rachel was done setting up their space, she returned to the man’s side, they both sat down to get comfortable and possibly figure out what the plan would be while they were in town. A town like this could mean a bigger score of cash to steal, but it was also a higher risk. To rob someone, they would have to do it on the outskirts of town, and they would have to knock them out, otherwise the murder would draw too much attention.
“Fuck…the only place where I can’t have some damn fun…” Zack grumbled.
Ray saw the look of displeasure on Isaac’s face, then brought a hand up to gently run her fingers through his hair.
 “You’ll live, Zack,” she giggled.
Zack’s heterochromatic eyes glanced at the young woman and stuck his tongue out at her, sometimes he did have a habit of acting a little childish, but he was surprised when Rachel stuck her tongue out back in retaliation. Damn, she amused him so much, no wonder he had fallen for her hidden charms.
Ray noticed Zack’s hair was starting to get in his face more often, even his hoodie couldn’t keep the lengthening stands tamed.
“Your hair is getting longer,” she spoke.
“I know,” Isaac huffed, “We don’t exactly have scissors now, do we?”
Rachel thought for a second, then tugged Zack’s hood back to expose the rest of his dark locks. Her own hair began to grow back ever since her search was called off, and a few times she’d tie it back to try a new look. The young woman had kept a couple hair ties in her pocket in case she needed them, and now was a good time.
“Here…turn your back to me…” Ray spoke softly.
Zack wasn’t sure what Ray was up to, but did as she asked. Naturally, he didn’t like being told what to do, with Ray though, he knew she often did with good intentions.
Her fingers were gentle at pulling his loose strands of hair back, then carefully bunch them up in the palm of her hand. Zack felt a slight tug, but it wasn’t painful, then something bind his hair together. Once Rachel was done, Zack was immediately curious at what she just did and felt at the back of his head, he could feel a tuft of hair tied back while some of his bangs dangled freely in his face.
“There, it shouldn’t be a problem for you anymore,” Ray said, rather proudly.
“I guess, til we eventually get the damn thing cut,” Zack mumbled.
He then noticed Ray giving him a look of observation - or rather, admiration. Sometimes when she gave Isaac that look, he often felt his cheeks grow warm, as he was still trying to figure out the appropriate reaction to something like that.
“W-what’s with the damn puppy eyes?” he stuttered.
“I don’t think we should cut it, I think like this…you look rather attractive…”
Zack’s mind went completely fucking blank. She just said something about him he’d thought he’d never hear. Attractive, something or someone that was pleasing to the eye of another, and she just said that about him.
“…Did…did you just say…that I was…a-attractive?” Zack asked with hesitation.
How he was speaking right now wasn’t in his character, but how he was feeling in this moment, it couldn’t be prevented.
Ray faintly blushed as she nodded, “Yeah, I did.”
If there was a look of someone who just got hit by Cupid’s arrow, Zack’s expression was it. He was flustered, befuddled and downright love-struck. Complimenting him with kindness was one thing, but doing so with adoration was another, and he was too stunned to respond.
 “H-holy fuck, Ray…” he mutters.
Now he’s retreating his flustered expression in his hoodie, quickly pulling it over his face, his brain was screaming at him to do so many things at once while at the same time he was absolutely confused over what the hell to do first. Isaac eventually brought his finger up to gesture for her to come over to him, Ray complied to his silent beckoning and situated herself to the front of him. The gruff man was quick to wrap his arm around her waist and yank her onto his lap, and within seconds, he captured her lips with his.
Ray was caught off guard for a moment, but didn’t hesitate to comply, his kisses did have a wild nature to go with Zack’s personality, but it was still very tender.
‘Don’t overdo it, god, there’s so much you wanna do to her just for saying that shit,’ Zack mentally said to himself, ‘…maybe just a little push…’
He soon deepened the kiss to give her that stronger sense of affection, just this once, just for that compliment alone she deserved him to not hold back for a moment.
With their bodies in close proximity of each other, Zack could feel Ray’s heart pounding wildly as she caved in. It was a little rare for them to kiss to this degree, mostly because Zack had a little trouble controlling his untamed behavior when it gave him new urges to act upon. Yet, they both secretly enjoyed when they did, it was primal just as it was endearing, and their taste did leave them with a craving for more. It was only a matter of time until they had to unwillingly part and regain their breath, Rachel’s face was slightly flushed from the feeling of desire that overcame the both of them.
Fuck, it was cute, and so damn tempting. Her expression was innocent, but also vulnerable, and his predacious disposition just wanted to swoop in and claim her lips just once more. Even his hands wanted to do more than just hold her close to him, there was a lot of inner thoughts and instincts just screaming at him right now, and it felt like a war to fight it all back.
Zack may feel like he wanted to do more in their relationship, but he knew that Ray possibly wasn’t ready yet. Their relationship was built mainly on trust and patience – most of that patience coming from Ray. Zack had to learn to be just a patient too, otherwise what they had now would wind up complicated and frustrating. It wasn’t his habit to do so, but this was a requirement.
To satisfy his conflicted need, he brought his hand to cradle Ray’s soft cheek as he leaned close to press his lips against hers one final time. It was a tame kiss - simple, short, and sweet.
Once he pulled himself back, he gave her a smug grin, “You’re lucky I’m gonna behave myself, especially when you’re saying that kind of stuff to me.”
“What would’ve happened if you didn’t?” Ray asked.
Zack had that feeling that she was either lightly prodding him, or she must really be that naïve, he leaned close as his grin turned slightly devilish.
“Do you really wanna know?” he whispered, his tone of voice was slightly deep and even alluring.
That and the thought of the possibility for Zack’s lack of restraint made her face turn a deep shade of red. Ray’s reaction made Isaac quietly laugh as he playfully ran his fingers through her golden locks, the young woman sure was fun to tease, he’ll have to admit that.
As the hours into the night passed, Zack let Ray go to sleep before him, he wanted to keep watch for a couple of hours before assuming it was safe enough to rest alongside her.
The man had pulled his hood back as he played with the restrained tuft of hair in the back of his head. Zack couldn’t stop feeling that strange sense of inner joy when Ray called him attractive, he never thought himself as such, yet Ray’s the only person on earth to make him feel wanted - not just because of their oath but as someone to share their life with.
Zack decided he may keep his looks the way they are just to hear those words again, he may not know when, but one day soon.
