The Omer is counted every nightfall starting the 2nd night of Passover until the night before Shavuot (marking when we received the Torah). This yearly cycle of counting lasts 49 days and every nightfall has its own opportunity for reflection. Each of the 7 weeks has its own focus and each of the 7 days within each week has its own focus within that focus. During Sefirat Ha'Omer, we are invited on a mystical journey, a journey that spirals us deeper and deeper into discovering what exists within our psyches and souls…text reads:

Tonight begins the focus of chesed b'tiferet (lovingkindness within beautiful harmony and balance)...

In the diaspora, many Jews throughout the world tried to assimilate into the dominant culture surrounding them to give their children safety and better opportunities. 

And even when this strategy worked, it also created a deep longing for something that had to become dormant...

My mom didn't grow up observant but she used to have dreams about a secret family name being hidden in her braids.

Our assimilation was largely done out of love and protection, but resulted in a kind of disharmony.

Throughout my life I thought of this feeling as a longing for something out of reach that had been lost long ago. 

An ancient memory found in glimpses & in books that I could barely read...

But I've been realizing that this isn't true. 

It was always right here with me, a deep love carried safely in my soul.

And as I cultivate more harmony and balance in my own life, the things that have been dormant for many generations are waking up.

Picked up this Power Rangers one-shot today. First PR comic I’ve read, definitely was not expecting a trip up the Tree of Life! Move over Storm, you’re not the only hero climbing the Kabbalah right now!

brings catharsis to the one expressing it AND a deeper understanding to the listener.
