Like mother like son Lloyd x OC (platonic)

Alright, so I randomly had an idea, I just watched Percy Jackson, and you know that scene where Percy is like “I am Sally Jackson’s son” yeah that one, but then Lloyd to Misako about an oC (Aruna) because she was like a mom to him when Misako wasn’t there, so I give you Lloyd with a good mother figure.

(I aged the ninja up a bit for this one, because it’s very small Cole x oC but really not the main plot, it might be there if you squint your eyes.

They first met when Lloyd was around six. He had ran from Darkleys and ended up in a small café in Jamanakai. A girl that was 17 years old at the time was working there, as it was her parents shop and she brought him some hot chocolate as he seemed so cold.

“I have no money,” he told her with a sad pout and she smiled at him. “That’s alright, this one’s on me,” she said and he happily thanked her before drinking his hot chocolate.

He stayed for a while after that so she brought him some lemonade. “Where are your parents, sweetheart?” She asked and Lloyd shrugged.

“No idea, I don’t really remember my parents,” he said and her heart broke. “What happened to them?” She asked, wondering if he had maybe been living on the streets after an incident.

“Nothing, my mom left me at a boarding school and I have no idea where dad is,” he said and she frowned a bit. “Do your teachers know you’re here?” She asked worriedly.

“No, not like they’d care at darkleys,” he mumbled and she tried not to scoff. What kind of parent leaves their child at darkleys?

“Why don’t you drink up your lemonade and I’ll get you some paper and crayons,” she said, making him smile as she walked off to the back of the shop.

She came back and gave him the paper and crayons.

“What’s your name, love?” She asked and he looked up at her. “It’s Lloyd,” he said with a smile. “Lloyd Garmadon,” she smiled back at him, she obviously knew who his father was, but she didn’t mind, he seemed like a sweet kid.

“Nice to meet you Lloyd, I’m Aruna Whitlock,” she said, sticking out her hand. He looked at it confused and she smiled. “You shake it,” she whispered and he happily did so.

He stayed until Aruna had to close down, she had given him some food trough the day of course, making sure he was taken care of well. She looked at him as he sat in a corner, now playing games on her iPad.

“Come, I’ll bring you back,” she said and he pouted at her. “I don’t wanna go back,” he said and she gave him a sad look.

“I’m sorry, dear, but I can’t let you stay outside,” she said and he got of his chair, sadly. She took his hand and walked him to her car.

“Can I come back?” He asked. She knew that it wouldn’t be allowed by the school, but she also knew how horrible the school was.

“Whenever you want,” she said, making him grin. This was the first time in Lloyds memories that he experienced love.

The second time he visited, he came to sit with her behind the counter, telling her story’s about himself that definitely didn’t happen.

She did have to scold him a bit, telling him that he shouldn’t steal or be mean to others.

She did give him some cookies and her iPad, letting him watch some videos on YouTube as she helped her customers.

The third time he visited, she was prepared. She had bought some commics, blankets and a hoodie, as the boy always wore a t-shirt even though it was cold outside.

It was plain black, but she hoped he’d like it anyway.

Spoiler alert, he loved it. But the comics weren’t of much use, the boy couldn’t read a word.

Aruna should’ve thought about it, he was only 6 after all. She wondered how he even managed to escape his school all the time.

But now, every time he visited, when there were no clients, she took her time to teach him how to read.

The boy was actually quite smart and at his tenth visit, he could already read small children’s books. He begged Aruna to give him some off the comics to read and she finally gave in.

It went pretty well, but he ran over a lot of times to ask her about a certain word, which she then explained to him.

This is how he became obsessed with starfarer and he visited so much eventually, that it didn’t take long before he had read all of them.

Whenever a new one came out, Aruna bought it so the boy could read it when he came by.

It was his the twenty first time he visited that he proudly showed off his black hoodie, which he painted with white paint so it looked like a skeleton.

It was messy, but Aruna could laugh about it and called it beautiful, making his eyes shine.

One of the days Lloyd best remembers, is the day he visited on a Thursday, the day the shop was closed.

He sat outside the shop door, tears staining his cheeks because he really wanted to see Aruna.

Luckily for him, she had forgotten her phone charger the day before so she found him at the doorstep.

He hugged her tightly when he saw her and in tears he explained that he had missed her so much.

She hugged him and picked him up in her arms. He burried his face in her neck and mumbled something before he fell asleep.

Aruna just opened the cafe door and made a makeshift bed out of some blankets and pillows, where she laid him down.

When he woke up, he rubbed his eyes and found a glass of lemonade and the newest starfarer comic next to him.

He looked up to spot Aruna with a cup of coffee at one of the tables and she winked at him.

He happily read his comic and drank the lemonade. He had run up to her three times to know the meaning of a word or what it said.

“Lloyd,” she said when he finished the comic, he looked up at her with questioning eyes. “Have you heard that there’s a starfarer movie?” She asked and his eyes lit up.

“There is?” He asked and she nodded. “It’s actually in the cinema today… wanna go?” She grinned and his mouth fell open.

“Really?” He asked and she nodded. “Really,” she said.

This day is what Lloyd would call the best day of his life.

It had been a bit longer than a year of his visits. He was at the cafe once every two weeks at least and he and Aruna had became really close.

So close that one day… he accidentally called her mom.

“Oh- I mean, Aruna,” he quickly said, a scared look on his face. She smiled at him and ruffled his hair.

“You can call me mom if you want to, love,” she said and he grinned, showing of his little fangs that Aruna had no idea where he got from.

Years went by and nothing really changed in their cycle, Lloyd visited, called her mom, learned new things and manners, and you could go on.

She loved the boy like a son, she made sure he had a place to go to when he needed help, when he needed a mom.

“Were you demanding candy from the villagers again?” Aruna asked, looking unamused as she raised an eyebrow at the blonde boy, hanging on a wall with the hood of his hoodie.

“Yes…” he mumbled and she sighed. “What did I tell you about bothering people and being disrespectful?” She asked.

“To not do it,” he said, looking at the ground with a pout. “And what did you do?” She asked. “I still did it- but like- this is just mean!” He said and she chuckled.

“You’re right, this is mean,” she said and took him off the wall, holding him in her arms. “So we learned not to do that again, right?” She asked and he nodded, burying his face in the crook of her neck.

She took him inside and gave him some apple juice and a lollipop to keep him busy while she helped her clients.

When there weren’t any clients, Lloyd told her the story about how the ninja had stopped him and where complete meanies, in his words.

She told him that it was not fair how they treated him, but that he should not be a meanie to other people either, making him sigh and nod.

“Shall I bring you home?” She asked and he shook his head. “I’ll walk,” he said and she frowned.

“Are you sure, love? I could give you a ride if you just wait a few hours,” she said but he shook his head.

“No, I want to walk, it’s good for me, right mom?” He asked and she chuckled.

“Yes, exercise is good, but sometimes taking a kind offer is also good,” she bend down to be at his height.

“Yes, but I want to walk, I want to go back anyway,” he said and she chuckled at him and kissed his cheek.

“Than you may walk,” she said and he waved her goodbye through the front windows.

She could never have guessed what Lloyd would do next and she could never have stopped it.

Later that day, some villagers took refuge in her shop. There were serpentine outside, terrorising the people around, they said.

“Lloyd Garmadon is with him, he’s always here, isn’t he?” A woman said and Aruna’s eyes widened.

“Are you sure it was Lloyd?” She asked and the woman nodded. “Pretty sure, he was rather proud with calling his name,” she said and Aruna put a hand over her mouth.

“I am so sorry, stay here, I’ll talk to him,” she said and walked outside. She saw some serpents but it only looked like they were in a hurry to get away.

There wasn’t any sight of Lloyd, but it wouldn’t surprise Aruna if he was really behind it, there were deserted wheelbarrows of candy and Lloyd had always been fascinated by serpentines.

She looked around with sad eyes as some villagers were hurt. She then noticed the ninja were also there.

One dressed in black came over when he saw her staring. “Can we help you, Miss?” He asked and she nodded.

“Please don’t tell me Lloyd was with the serpentine,” she said and his eyebrows rose slightly.

“I- yes, he uh, he was, it actually seemed like he was commanding them,” he said and Aruna groaned.

“He said he was going back to darkleys,” she said, rather disappointed. “You know him?” He asked and Aruna nodded.

“He’s in my shop a lot, can I give you my number, so you can call me if you find him?” She asked and he nodded.

“Yes, of course,” he said and took out his phone. They exchanged numbers and soon enough he left.

“Did you just get the number of that pretty girl?” Kai teased him and Cole nodded.

“Yes, but not because of what you think, she knows that little trouble maker, she seems to care about his wellbeing,” he said and Jay huffed.

“Why would someone care? He just let the serpentine lose, no one can tell what will happen now,” he said annoyed.

“Awe come on Jay, he’s just a kid,” Nya said and Jay quickly changed sides, stumbling over his words and blushing.

Kai rolled his eyes while Cole laughed at him.

It was a week later when Aruna got a call from Cole.

“Hey, it’s me, the black ninja, but just call me Cole,” he said, a bit awkwardly.

“Have you found Lloyd?” She asked quickly, having been worried all week.

“Yeah, yesterday evening, I didn’t want to bother you so I waited until morning to call,” he said and she just brushed this off.

“It’s fine, where are you? I’m coming over to see him,” she said and he was surprised for a moment but thought it couldn’t hurt if she stopped by. He hadn’t really realised Lloyd was apparently this important to her.

He told her where they were and Aruna grabbed her keys, closed the shop and got into the car, ready to drive over there.

She called her parents on the way, telling them that she closed the shop and they needed to fix someone else because she had an emergency.

Damn was she lucky they were understanding people.

She had already gotten the news that the ninja were taking residence on a flying ship, so she didn’t think much when she saw it.

She rushed on board and the four ninja all seemed to be training there.

The red one seemed to notice her first and greeted her politely. “I’ll go get him,” he said but before he could do so, the boy already came running outside.

“Mom!” He called and jumped into her arms. She hugged him tightly and kissed his cheek, before putting him down.

“What did I tell you about hurting other people and behaving?” She asked in a scolding tone.

“Always be kind and don’t do anything that might hurt other people or myself,” he said, looking at the ground.

“Why did you think it was a good idea to set the serpentine free?” She asked and he shrugged.

“The ninja had been mean,” he moped and Aruna sighed and looked at the ninja who where staring at them from a few feet distance.

She stood up and crossed her arms. “Did you apologise to him?” She asked in a scolding tone.

“Uh, no?”

“I don’t think we did…”

“Obviously not,”

“I think we might’ve forgot…”

“Apologise to him, now,” she pointed at the boy and the surprised ninja all muttered apologies.

“Have you apologised to the ninja?” She asked the boy who crossed his arms rebelliously.

“What do I have to apologise for? They started it!” He pointed and she raised her eyebrows.

“Excuse me?” She asked and he pouted at her, making tilt her head to the side slightly.

“Sorry mom,” he said before turning to the ninja. “Sorry, I guess,” he said. “Lloyd,” she said and he looked back at her before he turned to the ninja again.

“I’m sorry I set the serpentine free and kind of messed up,” he said.

At that moment, a man with a long white beard came walking outside.

“Sensei Wu! Your sister in law seems to be here!” Kai called and the man looked up in surprise and longing.

“Misako?” He asked and Aruna raised an eyebrow. “I’m pretty sure I’ve never met him,” she said.

Wu frowned as he walked over. “And I’m sure I never met you,” he said and that’s when Lloyd took over.

“Mom, this my uncle, uncle, this is Aruna, my kind off mother” he said and Aruna chuckled and stuck out her hand for Wu to shake, which he did.

“I think you know I’m not his actual mom- I’m also much to young for that, but he calls me mom,” she said while Lloyd held her hand and leaned against her.

“It’s nice to meet you, Aruna,” Wu said kindly, rather happy to see Lloyd had found some sort of parental figure.

“Can she stay with us, please, please, please!? There is enough room on the bounty!” Lloyd begged.

“If she wants to, she may stay here,” Wu said and looked at his students. “Right boys?” He asked.

“Uh, sure, I don’t mind,” Cole shrugged. “I think Nya would like her,” Kai nodded.

The other two agreed aswel and Aruna chuckled.

“I’m not sure Lloyd, I still have the shop and I really don’t want to be a bother,” she said but he rolled his eyes at her.

“Didn’t you say you wanted to quit anyway? Your parents can take care of it, can’t they?” He asked, and even though she thought it irresponsible, she let herself be convinced by Lloyd.

It did lead to the very awkward moment where she met his dad, though.

Garmadon had not been interested in her, at all, but the moment they came back to the ship after trying to save Lloyd, he saw the devastatingly, heartbroken look in the girls eyes when she found out Lloyd was still in the erupting volcano, he thought maybe his son had been really important to her.

He had been right, because the moment Lloyd got back, it wasn’t his father he immediately ran to for comfort and a hug, no he ran to the strange girl and called her mom.

Of course, he did get a hug after, but he was really surprised, because for a second he was conflicted if Misako had just changed so much or if this was just a random girl.

The answer was obvious of course.

When it became clear Lloyd was the green ninja, Aruna had stayed with him all night, because she knew he was going to need her.

In his room, he told her about how heroic he was going to be and how he was going to be a great fighter.

“And than, when the time comes, I will beat-” he cut himself off as realisation flooded trough him. “I will beat my dad…” he said and looked at Aruna with heartbroken eyes, tears starting to spill.

She held him, the whole light she held him. She sat on his bed and he laid in her lap, sobbing until he fell asleep.

The next day the ninja found the two, Lloyd snoring in a sleeping Aruna’s arms, it was the moment they really realised how important this girl was for the boy they actually started to like.

Through the days, the ninja actually became great friends with Aruna, deciding that they had to put up with Lloyd for a long while, so they would be ‘stuck’ with Aruna aswel.

When they defeated the great devourer, she helped them find jobs and things that they could do to earn money.

She loved watching as they trained Lloyd in the Mojo Dojo.

She also loved watching Lloyd glare at Dareth whenever he tried flirting with her.

She did like it when they got the bounty back, it had really started to feel like home to her, and now she could watch the ninja train Lloyd there.

Cole started to make some time to teach Aruna some stuff aswel. “If you’re going to be around for as long as we think, you might aswel learn how to fight, you’re going to need it,” he had told her.

She really liked the training time with Cole and couldn’t help but blush ever time he moved her a bit to better her stance.

The day of the tomorrow’s tea, is a day Aruna would never forget. She had been out for a while, and when she came back, nobody was home.

She didn’t think much off it and waited for them to get back.

They jumped onto the deck one by one and she looked around the group for a few seconds.

“Where are Kai and Lloyd?” She asked, the group exchanged looks and Cole stepped forward.

“Listen, Andy, something happened,” he said and the frowned. “Are they okay? Is Lloyd hurt? Is he in the hospital?” She asked and he quickly calmed her down by grabbing her hand.

“No, it’s not that- it’s… you better see so for yourself,” he said and moments later, Lloyd walked onto the deck.

He only seemed about three or so years younger than she was. Her breath hitched and tears started stinging in her eyes.

What happened to her boy?

“What happened?” She asked, her voice breaking. “There was an incident with some aging tea…” he shrugged, trying to give her as reassuring smile.

It fell when he saw the heartbroken look in her eyes.

“Hey,” he tried to laugh as he walked towards her taking her hands in his. “Mom, I’m still here, alright?” He said and she nodded before pulling him into a hug.

The group watched all a bit mournfully as they watched a mother and son that could be mistaken for a brother and sister, two friends, or even boyfriend and girlfriend (everyone felt disgusted by the last one really) hug, knowing that the bond they had would never be able to break.

Aruna had joined the group when they visited the museum, it was pure coincidence that she was there, but it was lucky she was, because it was important for Lloyd at that moment.

“You guys are such idiots,” Aruna laughed as she looked at the destroyed gift shop. “Oh come on, like you could’ve done it better,” Kai said.

They made their way out of the shop to see Wu with a woman, he seemed rather in love.

“So, are you gonna introduce us?” Jay asked and Wu nodded.

“Yes,” he said. “This is Misako, Lloyds mother,” he said and Aruna felt her heart crashing trough the ground as she looked at the woman who actually really resembled the boy.

They all stood to the side and looked at a surprised Lloyd.

“My- my mother?” He said and the woman smiled.

“Ah, Lloyd? My little boy,” she walked toward him. “You’re so much bigger then I remember. “

Aruna glared slightly at the woman and Cole laid a hand on her shoulder, and gave her a concerned look. She just lightly smiled at him.

“Yeah, well, it’s been a long time,” Lloyd said, recoiling from her touch.

“I didn’t want us to meet like this,” Misako shook her head. “I have a reason why I’ve been away!” She tried to explain.

“Well I don’t wanna hear it,” he spat and turned away, walking toward the door.

“Lloyd wait! Please!” She called. “You’re my son!” She cried desperately.

Lloyd turned around and for a moment Misako seemed to have hope until she saw his angry glare.

“I am Aruna Whitlocks son!” He yelled at her before turning away and slamming the door.

“I’ll go talk to him,” Aruna said, walking toward the door.

“Maybe it’s better if I go to explain my reasons,” Misako laid a hand on Aruna’s shoulder and the girl turned around with a small huff.

“No, I think it’d be better if I go,” she said with a a small sneer.

“And who are you?” Misako asked, a bit irritated. “I am Aruna Whitlock,” she answered with triumph before going after Lloyd.

Aruna found Lloyd sitting at a large sinkhole. She walked over and laid a hand on his shoulder.

“Are you alright, love?” She asked and sat down next to him.

“It’s so unfair how she thinks she can just explain her reasons and think we’re all good again,” he said and rested his head on Aruna’s shoulder.

“It is unfair,” Aruna said. “But maybe if you heard her out, you might want to give her another chance,” she tried and Lloyd huffed.

“Another chance at what?” He asked and Aruna shrugged. “Well she’ll never get another chance at being my mother, that spot is taken,” he said and the girl chuckled.

“Yes, I’d be jealous,” she teased, making him laugh lightly. “But maybe another chance to be in your life,” she combed her hand trough his hair like she did whenever he couldn’t sleep or had a nightmare.

“You might wanna look out, that sinkhole doesn’t have a bottom, son,” the voice of Misako entered the room. “It’s where I found the ancient stone warrior,” she explained.

Aruna stood up from her spot and looked at the woman for a moment. “I’ll leave you to alone, I’ll wait outside,” she said before she kissed the top of Lloyd head and headed outside.

Aruna waited outside of the room and she saw the others about to head inside. “Are you coming aswel, Aruna?” Zane asked and and she gave him a small smile.

“No thanks, I’ll wait,” she said in a small voice. Deep inside, she felt scared that Lloyd would choose Misako as his mother again and they’d lose their spark.

After composing herself, Aruna headed inside, to see what was going on and if the two made up.

“Leaving you was the hardest thing I’ve ever had time do,” she heard Misako said. “But faced with saving you and the world, I had no other choice,” she said.

Aruna came to stand with the others and Lloyd stood up.

“I can forgive you,” he said, making Misako smile. “And I can let you back into my life again,” he continued, slowly stepping towards the others behind him.

“But I am afraid to say the face of a mother belongs to someone else,” Lloyd looked at Aruna who gave him a reassuring smile.

Just some Aroace Lloyd things +the Ninja siblings⬇

When Lloyd first came out, Jay and kai showed there support by making cheesy ace & aro puns for a week straight

Lloyd was super nervous to come out to his parents. Misako was cool with it; it was really just a "and water is wet" p2⬇

When he came out to Gramadon after Crystalized he was scared he might actually disown him again (all the big brothers and sisters were ready to commit major violence if that happened) when he finally told Garmadon it went exactly like this⬇

Garmadon: "so what I'm hearing is I won't have to deal with you having any annoying little hybrid offspring?" Lloyd: "...yeah basically... I guess..." Garmadon: ">:) Hahaha! Yes!" Lloyd: "I should probably be offended but that went better than I expected... : |"

Lloyd first learned what ace was from Cole. Zane later helped discover what aro was

Nya gave Lloyd his first pride pins

After talking about his feelings for Harumi, Lloyd what a squish™ was from Cole and had a major "THAT'S A THING!!?!?!" moment

Lloyd has a little aroace flag tied to the pommel of his sword

Whenever Jay finds an ace or aro coded comic or video game character he runs to Lloyd and goes "LOOK!!" and Lloyd always goes :D✨

At one point Lloyd dyed his bangs green and purple, and after everyone saw the all had to do it (Kai dyed all of his hair the colors of the Bi flag bc he wanted to outdo Jay-)

For Lloyd's birthday Pixal made him a custom phone case with a dragon design on it in the colors of the sunset flag

Lloyd and Cole were both heartbroken for a whole week after Kai told them that Cake By The Ocean was a sex reference and not about ACTUAL cake and the ocean

All the Ninja wear pride themed hoods during June. Lloyd has an aro patch on one should, an ace patch one the other and a sunset hood (it's not like any of them are actually stealthy; they're dressed like a literal fruit salad-)

Complete Lego Ninjago Rewrite - Spoilers

Hello Ninjago fans!! After watching a few videos about problems people have with Ninjago, I got the urge to rewrite all of Ninjago, which include the Pilot, the 15 seasons, Day of Departed, the Miniseries, and the Lego Ninjago Movie. I am not going to rewrite Dragons Rising, the Mini-movies, comics, books or video games because that would be too much work and I haven’t seen any of them but if you would like to go ahead. I will be making this on ao3 and each chapter will be one episode, I am still trying to decide if the pilot should be one or two.

However, the reason I am making this post is because I want to know what I should add or remove from the series to make it better. Ideas that I have so far, in no particular order, are:

Make Nia a more third dimensional character in the first few seasons

Change the reasons that Jay and Cole gain their true potential

Give actual reason why they can't use some abilities again; like spinjitzu, elemental dragons, their ultimate potential, etc

Make the ninja have a reasonable reaction to what is happening to them, not just making funny quips or having temporary effects that only last a few seasons episodes but long term effects that develop their character.

Have Cole come out to his father in s1 ep9, The Royal Blacksmiths, because one (1) that episode can be interpreted as an allegory to coming out so why not go all the way and two (2) there are about 4 blink and you miss it queer things that happen in Ninjago (a lesbian couple dancing in s12, 2 guys kissing in s14, a pride fall on Sally’s van in s15, and a rainbow crosswalk that sometimes shows up) so I am going to add more representation.

Fix Lord Garmadon in s8 and onwards

Make Misako less redeemable (she toters in between extremely neglectful and trying her best so much but I think being neglectful would give Lloyd a bit more spice and would let her realize she was wrong and give a bit of character development)

Let Garmadon and Vinny date

Let the girls have more problems then just guy problems

Fix plot holes

Have the inhuman parts of Lloyd be foreshadowed

Let Morro come back

Let Lloyd turn into a Oni for a bit to fight the Overlord in s15 and have him not be able to stop

Fix season 3

Fix season 11, mostly the first part but the second too

Make a sensible timeline and have how long each season takes so we have a reasonable age each character is by the end of Ninjago

Make The Lego Ninjago Movie follows the rules that were previously made in the series. I don’t care if it is supposed to be in the universe of the Lego Movie, the series had rules on how everyone's abilities worked and you erased them. The mechs can stay though they were cool.

Those are all the ideas I have but I want to know about any other ideas, problems or solutions that anyone has about Ninjago. I want to rewrite the series in a way that shows that while I think some things need to be fixed, I still love it. I will be starting with the pilot and s1 so I mostly want to know people's ideas relating to those episodes but all ideas are welcome.

Hi, typing this on my computer bc I'm actually going insane and I'll fry my phone trying to type this all on there.

So my roommates and I finally watched parachutingkittens' video on misogyny in Lego Ninjago (not relevant to the rest of the post, thought I should mention it bc neither of my roommates are into Ninjago but the video was why we were discussing Ninjago) and it was extremely good.

Afterwards, we were talking about Misako a lot, and one of my roommates asked if Misako and Garmadon knew about the prophecy about Lloyd before having him. Which like, idk if they did, idk if it even existed before Lloyd was born, I don't remember if it was ever explained, but anyways, it made me realize something sooooosososo devastating about them and you KNOW it's crazy that I'm talking about this bc I NEVER post abt Garmadon and rarely abt Misako, but LISTENNNN OK

Imagine the prophecy did exist, and they knew about it long before Lloyd was born, also taking into account the fact that Garmadon didn't fully succumb to the venom until after Lloyd was born. So because of this, they decide not to have children in an effort to prevent the prophecy from playing out. But it's been literally thousands of years since Garmadon was bitten, and he and Misako have been together for quite a few years already and they make the ultimate decision that he's been ok up until this point and he's doing literally fantastic despite the venom, and they might be in the clear on that front even though it's still a risk. They deem the risk factor to be very small, and decide to have Lloyd. And they do! And they're happy! And then the literal horrors happen because Garmadon can't fight the effects of the venom anymore! And I just think it's devastating, as someone who doesn't spend a lot of time even thinking about Garmadon and Misako.

Eh, I've watched the first two to three seasons since my brother got them on DVD. I've gotten some of the lore through osmosis but I haven't really watched the show since then. Here's what I know:

The elemental powers are passed down, usually through bloodline but sometimes not

There was a video game arc and we met Pixal

There's also some cult with an amber ninja named Skylor

Nya's the Water Ninja and there's an air element, why this hasn't come up earlier I'm not sure

There was some kind of love triangle but not really between Nya, Jay, and Cole? From what I understand Jay had insecurity issues and Nya has trust issues, Cole got dragged into this mess by a stupid machine, and Nya kinda fanned the flames by being teasing about who she chose? I think? This feels like an oversimplification.

I also think Misako didn't help bc of her own love triangle with Wu and Garmadon and gave what felt like really bad advice to Nya about her own love triangle

Wu and Misako got together after Garmadon died

Wu has a son(?) or a student named Morro and he possessed Lloyd for a bit

Jay's adopted

Nya and Kai's parents are alive

Nya literally became water

Nya and Kai have adopted Lloyd as their younger brother

The snakes became good

Since I'm lazy when it comes to practicing human anatomy for art I'll have to turn to my only other soothing hobby: writing. But I don't wanna deal with my original stories I'll let you decide which ninja fanfic I should start working on (AU informations below the poll (none include elements from dragons rising!))

SHORT AU EXPLANATIONS:

DEATHBRINGERS: completely different world building, morro is alive, morro & lloyd share the title of green ninja, no tomorrow's tea (lloyd, morro & the core 4 are the same age), morro is wu's biological son, morro and lloyd are literally green cousins, oni & dragon prophecy, zane doesnt know he's a robot, misako trains the ninja instead of wu, no overlord, evil (emperor?) garmadon, no 16 other realms, new serpentine hybrid species, the skulkin, the ghosts, the reawakened, samurai x exists, the ninja didnt actually want to be ninja, no hrumi (sorry but she makes me uncomfy in s9), no pixal?, borg and dr julien work for garmadon (echo zane, mr e, mr f & cryptor are separate characters that work under garm's command), a mystery about nya, spooky-ish(?) themed (as the au name might imply it's inspired by graves, graveyards, death, s5, the caves of despair, dotd, gothic imagery, scythes, dark and desaturated colors, hopelessness, halloween vibes, the cursed realm/preeminent, the departed realm, ghosts, skeletons, dark magic), minor shipping (bits of lava fluff in the beginning, later some sandstorm moments but no major plot points dedicated to shipping), yin-yang/balance of good and evil theme [i have a long note written about all the world building changes, you wouldnt believe me that i came up with this idea in 2mins and it took me 2hrs afterwards to write everything down afterwards]

SHOOTING STARS: based on this and this post of mine, sandstorm shipping, some green cousins, spans from pilots → dotd, unhappy/bittersweet ending, sensei yang, ghosts, the night sky/shooting stars are somewhat important, ghost cole and ghost morro [this is the newest and so far vaguest au i have]

R3W1R3D (rewired): prime empire/video game/cyber inspired, evil lloyd, possessed lloyd, lloyd and kai brother moments, mechanical/electrical stuff, the mechanic [while existing for a while i struggle with developing it as im unfamiliar with working with these themes and its my 1st time to do something serious since it could have nice visuals if i ever made art for it]

You mentioned in your video that the old people love triangle was misogynist and I was REALLY hoping you could delve more into why that is the case. Like I agree but what about it makes it feel that way?

Well, I think one of the main things is that it's the first thing we know about her. Wu and her have this weird tension from the start. We know wu likes her before we know much about who she is, just like most of our other love interests. And from that point forward it just takes up so much of her screen time. It might be more important than her motherhood of Lloyd honestly. And the love triangle trope just has such baggage attached to it, that it's a trope just for girls and which makes girls look bad, that having it be so focal feels a bit insulting.

It's also that they don't give it up. It's like Nya’s transition to season 3. Her first plotline was liking Jay. That got largely resolved. And the plot they come up for her in season 3 is just more romantic drama, cuz what else can we give the girl to do? Same with misako. They did the love triangle stuff in season 2. It's largely resolved. Garm is back now. But then in season 4, they need a plot for her and they go right back to her romantic drama.

It's the amount of screen time. It's the centralness of it. And the specifics of the situation as it develops in season 4 (I think I outlined pretty clearly why I feel that part is problematic)

Additionally, because it's wu who's on the team full time, it's mainly his perspecrive that we're following. Misako is introduced as a way to give wu something to do.

Anyway, those are some thoughts.

Llyod won't come out of his room for a while, it made the Ninjas, Master Wu and Sensei Garmadon got worried and when they checked his room and he has a fever.

"Where is Lloyd?"Sensei Garmadon asked when he came out from the training room.

"I haven't seen him all day.

"He doesn't want to come out of his room," Kai spoke while he and the rest of the ninja were playing video games.

"Why?" Sensei Garmadon asked.

"I don't know," Nya shrugged her shoulders. "He just keeps saying he wants us to leave him alone."

"That's strange," Jay said. "Lloyd doesn't usually behave like this."

"Maybe he just needs some time alone," Zane suggested.

"Watch out, Jay, we're going to lose," Cole said as they all continued playing games.

"Who gave you permission to play games all day?" Sensei Wu angrily asked. "You were supposed to come to training."

"We thought of taking the day off because of Lloyd and everything," Kai tried to save the team.

"Okay, that's enough," Sensei Garmadon came and knocked on Lloyd's door.

"Lloyd,son, are you okay?"

"Just leave me alone," Lloyd grumpily said.

"See, Zane was right," Cole shrugged. "He wants to be alone."

"I'll go see what's happening," Sensei Garmadon exclaimed and opened the door to Lloyd's room.

"Lloyd..."

"Are you okay?" Nya was the first to reach him and saw that he was lying on the bed.

"I just need some rest," Lloyd mumbled.

"Lloyd, buddy," Kai looked worried. "You look like you've seen a ghost."

"Come here, son," Sensei Garmadon gestured as he reached Lloyd's bed.

"I was thinking the same thing," Sensei Garmadon said after checking his forehead.

"Is he okay?" Sensei Wu asked.

"He has a fever, a high one," Garmadon said worriedly. "It's best for him to lie down."

"I'll bring you tea," Kai said and ran to the kitchen.

"I'll get the blanket, and Zane and Cole can get the cold compresses," Nya said.

"And me?" Jay asked.

"You can keep him company until we come back," Nya replied.

"Okay, then," Jay said as they all left.

"I don't think he's up for talking," Sensei Wu said.

"I know," Jay agreed, sitting by Lloyd's bed across from Sensei Garmadon.

"It will be fine," Sensei Garmadon said, gently patting Lloyd. "You have a great team looking after you."

"That's true," Sensei Wu proudly said. "They have matured a lot."

"Of course we care for him," Jay said. "In a few days, you'll be back and playing games with us."

"And training," Sensei Wu added.

"Here's the blanket," Nya said, entering the room. "Are you cold?"

"A little," Lloyd shivered, his teeth chattering.

"Then here, have more blankets," Nya tried to sound carefree, but it was obvious she was worried.

"I'll call Misako to bring fever-reducing tablets when she comes back from work," Sensei Garmadon stood up.

"In the meantime, apply cold compresses. Where are those two?"

"Here we are," Cole said as he and Zane brought the cold compresses.

"Let's apply them."Sensei Wu said.

"Here's the tea," Kai exclaimed and went to make Lloyd rest, but accidentally spilled it on himself.

ARGG!

"Are you okay?" Zane asked.

"No, I spilled the tea all over because of this..." Kai looked as if he were about to strangle Jay.

"Enough!" Sensei Wu exclaimed. "How aren't you ashamed! Your friend is sick, and you're yelling as if you're on the street. Apologize to Lloyd."

"Sorry, Lloyd," Kai came and sat next to him. "How are you?"

"I really didn't mean it. We are all worried about you," Jay explained.

"Thank you for caring about me. You are truly the best," Lloyd said.

"Of course, we will always look out for you," Cole said.

"You would do the same for us," Nya added. "We know that."

" I think it's best to let Lloyd rest," Sensei Wu said as the ninjas started leaving the room, saying goodbye to Lloyd.

"My sensors say you might recover soon," Zane said as he left.

"Thanks, Zane," Lloyd smiled. "Dad, can you stay with me?"

"Of course," Sensei Garmadon said, sitting beside him.

"Your mother will be here soon and will bring the tablets. Until then, you'll be fine. Everyone, take care of you."

Wow. This episode was

Tough.

I kind of took a couple of minutes to watch a video in YT to organize my thoughts (it didn't help), and think about what I want for breakfast tomorrow (it did help).

Our team is split up between realms. One side thinks the other is dead, and the other side has no idea what the fate of the one side is. That's going to hit so much harder in the next season.

Lloyd is without his powers. He at least has Nya, Misako, and Pixal to rely on. I feel like the four of them are going to spend quite a lot of the next season on the run. And being helped by the many allies they've collected on the way.

Cole, Zane, Jay, Kai, and Little Wu are going to be traversing the First Realm, the Realm of Dragons and Oni. I'm not sure what to expect form this plot in the next season, other than the ninja learning more about dragons and the oni.

And maybe meeting some long lost relatives of Lloyd, Wu, and Garmadon.

I'm going to take some time and watch Quinton's 9 AND A HALF HOUR LONG VIDEO ON SAM & CAT. The plan is to start season 9 tomorrow. Until then!

Below the cut are the predictions I got right and wrong.

The Sons of Garmadon are collecting the Oni Masks to bring Garmadon back from the dead.

There is something else going on with Harumi. Boy, was there.

Hutchins is not involved with the Sons of Garmadon. RIP Hutchins.

Harumi is involved with the Sons of Garmadon somehow. *stares into the camera like the Office*

Harumi is the Quiet One. This one was one I hated being right about.

Harumi's arrest won't last long. Barely 5 minutes into the next episode.

Mystake will have some tea to heal Lloyd.

Incorrect

The Big Man is someone we've met before. His VA we all knew, but was a whole new character.

Dr. Yost or his remains will be important to Lloyd and Rumi's expedition. He did not. We have no idea what happened to him. RIP Dr. Yost.

Harumi is planning on having Garmadon bring back her parents. She just wants revenge on Lloyd.

Family reunion. We kind of got a reunion with the Garmadon family, but not entirely.

NINJAGO STARSTRUCK AU - SPINJITZU AT 25:00 OPENING

This is the opening of the Ninjago x Project Sekai Nightcord swap.

Hey guys, I worked hard to make sure I kept most of the character's traits present, while coinciding with N25's main story. It would mean a lot if you stopped by to read a bit!!

Harumi Yoisaki

"This isn't right. Maybe if I…? Yes, that works."

My name is Harumi Yoisaki. I am a digital composer.

I would be a second year student of high school, but I do not go to school. I live by myself and complete online courses. My parents used to work in music.

I work in a group. We meet every night on our night chat, Spinjitzu. Ever since my parents were hospitalized I promised to keep doing what they did.

I don't live in a very roomy apartment. I barely pay the rent. Sometimes I will forget to eat.

But, I continue. Because I must compose.

I visit my parents sometimes. They don't wake up. They never will.

Because they are dead. And it's my fault.

So I continue. And the cycle will go on.I must compose.

Even though sometimes it's hard, I continue. Because this is my place. I will save someone.

I just need to keep composing. And soon…I will be able to save someone from the same fate as my parents.

They went out to drive…

"No. I will not think about it. I will keep going. I must save someone…

"My screen lit up.

"Hey Rue, I finished arranging that part for you. Do you want the demo?"

It was from L. He arranges my music and adds lyrics.

"Yes please," I wrote back. He sent the file, and I pressed play.

A harsh, but sweet melody flooded the room. The composition flowed smoothly with the arrangements L did.

"Thank you, L. It sounds good," I typed.

"I'm glad. I think I'm going to log off," he typed back.

So early? That's weird…"Get some sleep! You must be tired, but it sounds good though," typed Nyad.

"Yeah, I heard you had class tomorrow, so rest well," added PIX.

Nyad works with our other member, PIX. Nyad does the art while PIX does the editing.

We post songs and music videos on our shared account, S25. Usually I get slightly more of the cut we make due to my living situation, but I still make sure to give them the amount they deserve too.

We've never met each other face to face, but I find joy in working with the three of them.

Even with that, I'm not doing this for fun.

I must compose.

I logged off the computer.

I am Lloyd Asahina, a second year high school student.

I glanced at the sheet of music on my desk, then the workbook that’s shoved to the floor.

Guess I should do that then, huh?

I slowly and miserably picked up the book from the ground, then placed it on my desk.

But I couldn't open it.

I didn't want to open it.

But I had to, didn't I?

I had to.

I ended up finishing the notes and assignments I was supposed to take next week.

Hopefully that will be enough…

My mother called from the hallway. "Lloyd? Are you still awake?"

"Yeah. Just finishing some things for next week," I said.

She softly opened the door. "Good. I don't want you being all caught up with those people online again. You know what happened last time. You're so talented and gifted, and I want the best for you… okay?"

It's hard to fight with her. I gave up a long time ago. Now I only hide.

"Yes, mom," I replied.

My mother is Dr. Misako Asahina. She is one of the most famous and world renowned doctors in the world. She has no interest in music, and expects me to take a similar career to her.

But I don't know what I want to do. I don't know who I am.

What do I want to be…?

But I continue to do whatever she says. I don't know why. I just can't defy her, no matter how hard I want to.

I'm supposed to be the best for everyone around me. Why stop now…?

I haven't known myself for a long time now. It's nothing new to feel like this.I can't help it. I still hate it.

But if that's the case, why can't I leave it…?Deep down, I knew the truth.I could not escape.

I have been forever alone.

I hate it.

I hate myself.

I have lost who I am.

Nya Shinonome

For forever, I have wanted to become an artist.

I have many names.

Nya Shinonome, for one.

But I can also be Kai’s sister, a little girl, the loner, etc.

I am all of them.

Yet I am none of what I want to be.

I do not go to school during the day.

I have never been able to choose my own path.

When I try, I am constantly told I’m not good enough.

I should give up.

I should stop trying.

I am not talented.

I am not valued.

But I persevere.

My destiny should be what I make. Not what anyone else says. I will be good enough. I can be good enough.

But am I really?

Yes, I always tell myself.

As I tell myself this again, I get a text message from PIX in the chat.

“Hey Nyad, can I see the storyboard you were working on for the next song?”

I quickly sent her the progress I’d made so far. “Here.”

“Thanks! You’re so talented, I’d never be like you,” she responded.

That made me feel a bit better.

Sometimes it does get hard.

Sometimes I feel like I can’t do anything right.

Sometimes I feel completely and utterly useless.

Sometimes I just feel like I want to disappear.

It’s the worst feeling in the world.

But I need to prove everyone who doubted me wrong.It doesn’t matter who tells me I can’t do it.

My parents, my teachers, my brother, none of them.

I will pursue my dream.

Even if it means I’ll have to fight all the doubts clouding my head.

I sighed.

Everyone else had logged off already.

What do I do now..?

I looked at my bag and remembered the schoolwork due next week.

I tried to ignore it and started working on the new music video. My name is Pixal Akiyama. I am a first year high school student.

I use my friend Nyad's art in edits for Rue and L's songs. Lately my inspiration has been lacking. I'm not sure why.

School life isn't much better either. It's been a while since I've talked to Sora… I noticed an influx in people calling me names and avoiding me too. I'm always excluded and made fun of.

I don't know why.

I miss my dad…

My dad is Cyrus Akiyama, a clothing designer with a very different approach to styles. He moved away to work for his company a few months ago.

I haven't had many people to talk to recently.

I miss talking.

It's been so long…

I miss having people to confide in. To run to. To trust.

⚠️⚠️HEY NINJAGO FANDOM (and any others) I THINK WE ALL NEED TO HAVE A TALK. OK.⚠️⚠️ So for one dragons rising s2 part 1 comes out tomrrow for those in the United States and some other areas, but there’s also been some slight debates about Misako on tumblr (maybe not but I keep getting posts related to her).

and it’s a little annoying tbh. Well not annoying but difficult. Some posts are saying “Oh well misako wasn’t s good mom but the ninja weren’t better!” Which I am NOT trying to call anybody out or attack them. However yeah none of them were really ‘great’ at raising Lloyd however there’s also other factors that go into it as well.

I myself am more neutral about Misako. I don’t like her. But I’m willing to hear out genuine debates on her. However yes, I agree Misako is a complex character and while I and I’m sure many others who might dislike her or feel neutral about her understand that and understand that she had reasons for her actions- that does NOT mean we still cannot dislike a complex character. (Also you don’t always HAVE to have a reason on why you dislike or like something and sometimes you might not even know yourself why)

for example on tiktok there’ll be videos saying “We need more complex characters!” And usually the video will go to “you couldn’t even handle (insert character(s)).” And it’s one thing if they mischaracterize the character and don’t understand it. But if they still know the characters complex and understand the reasons that doesn’t mean they have to LIKE the character. They aren’t entitled to. And nobody is entitled to be upset at someone else for disliking or liking a character. You can debate civilly about a character if you want but don’t go throwing accusations like “OH YOU DONT LIKE (insert character) YOUR PROBABLY RACIST, MISOGYNISTIC, ETC.” And while I’m sure in a few cases that might play into it. But also- that’s not always the case. Like if I dislike a female character for reasons am I misogynistic? No. Not unless I hate her BECAUSE she’s a woman. Not because she might’ve done something I personally don’t agree with. And I think we all need to understand that,

EVERYONE can form opinions based on their own personal experiences and morals. You don’t have to LIKE someone else’s opinion but you don’t have to berate them for it either. And I’m sure someone might say “OH YOU JUST DONT LIKE MISAKO.” NO. I don’t like her- but I don’t hate her. I have mixed feeling about her. But it’s no different if someone else also disliked a complex character such as Garmadon or Wu. (Most of the time from what I’ve seen) It’s not because of a racial or sex issue with the character. It’s just because that character in that own individuals opinion isn’t their favorite.

EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN DISLIKES AND LIKES.

Just like the old times.

A/N: OH MY GOD THIS TOOK ME SO LONG GOD DAYUM MY BACK HURTS- so I might’ve gone a little too overboard for this one oopsies 🤭🤭- I’m not at all an experienced writer so I’m sorry if it’s crappy. This was suggested by an anonymous user! (let’s make out after this/j) This takes place during Crystalized in which Lloyd is trapped in his Oni form, defeats the Overlord, and becomes the ruler of Ninjago, but the Ninja found a way to get him back 😋

Nelson heard the sound of someone banging at the Newspaper Warehouse door as he walked over to it, putting his ear to the door. “When does the news sleep?” He muttered. “Never!” 2 familiar voices said in unison. He grinned, opening it up as Cole and Kai walked in. “Hey, Master Wu.” Kai muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. “Hello, Kai. Is Lloyd still in his Oni form?..” He asked, turning away from the table of scrolls while Cole bit his lip. “..Yeah..” He said quietly while Master Wu sighed, looking down. “Hey! It’s okay, Master! We all know Lloyd, he’ll be back in no time.” Jay assured him, putting a hand on his shoulder. “We don’t know that.” Skylor snapped, walking over to Jay. “We can’t just keep saying everything will be fine and not do anything. If Lloyd’s gonna come back, he’s not doing it alone.”

They all looked at each other, nodding their heads. “She’s right. I’m not about to lose my best friend.” Nya chimed in, standing up. “And I’m not losing my son.” Misako added.

“And I’m not losing my Student and Nephew.”

“So, any ideas?” Skylor asked, looking around. “Hm.. I feel like I’ve read something similar on Onis.” Misako walked over to the scrolls, scanning them until she picked one up, unraveling it. “Here.” She placed it on the table where everyone gathered around. “According to this, half-Oni creatures are able to be brought out of their Oni forms by memories.” Misako explained as Kai raised an eyebrow in confusion. “What’s that supposed to mean?” He asked. “It means that if you guys can maybe do something to him that will unlock a pleasant memory, he may start remembering himself and transform back.” They all looked at each other, what would be a memory that could bring him back.. “Do any of you guys remember maybe something that he enjoyed doing?” Kai asked, looking around. “Well, he liked playing video games and kicking out butts at it.” Cole said with a chuckle, Kai smiled a little, but it soon faded. “Yeah, but we don’t really have a gaming console so..”

Just then, a thought came into Zane’s mind. “..Remember whenever he got too arrogant or petty over the game and we would tickle him to ‘pull him out of his ego’?..” He asked softly. “Oh yeah! He would always brag over how much better he was and we would tickle him to pieces!” Jay laughed. “Yeah, and he…” Kai thought about it for a moment.. if this was going to save Lloyd’s life then it wouldn’t hurt to spill one of his secrets. “..He once told me while we were watching a movie that he enjoyed being tickled, and he even sometimes was petty on purpose just to get tickled.” Kai said, in which everyone became wide eyed. “AND YOU NEVER TOLD US THIS???” Jay suddenly yelled. “He told me to keep it a secret! But if it means saving my little brother, hopefully he won’t mind.” Kai chuckled.

“Alright, here’s the game plan. Master Wu will sneak outside and create a distraction to get his attention, once he flies down then Cole will knock him down and hold him down so Zane can freeze his arms and legs, then he’s all yours.” Skylor explained as they all nodded. “Time to tickle the ego out of this brat. Just like the old times.”

Vinny carefully parked his van where it wouldn’t be visible from the floating rock, turning over to Wu and Skylor who were in the back and giving them a thumbs up. Wu stepped out, walking over to the middle of the street as he took in a deep breath, channeling his elemental power as his hands glowed a very bright yellow. He raised them up, waiting to see what was left of his nephew.

Meanwhile, Lloyd, if you could even call him that anymore, turned around to see the 2 bright yellow lights as he let out a low growl, running and jumping off of the island as he landed on the ground, a crack forming on the road from the impact. He was face to face with Wu, looking at him with his bone chilling purple eyes as he was ready to strike.

“Now!!” Wu yelled out. Lloyd felt confusion fill him until it was knocked out when he felt something jump on his back, knocking him over. They flipped him on his back, Kai and Zane pinned his upper arms, Jay and Nya pinned his lower arms, and Cole pinned his legs. He struggled against them, they were surprisingly strong and able to keep him down as he looked up at them. “You.. YOU WILL ALL PAY FOR THIS!!” He shrieked, only causing mischievous smirks and grins to plant on their faces. “Well.. what if we did.. This then?!” Kai said, in which him and Zane buried their hands under his arms, causing him to jerk violently, but he managed to keep quiet while silently squirming.

“Ohh, tough guy eh? Jay, how about you help us out?” Kai turned to Jay who grinned widely. “With pleasure!” He used his elemental powers to give small tickly zaps to Lloyd’s sides and ribs. Lloyd couldn’t contain himself anymore as he bursted out into loud unsettling cackles. “Yeesh! You need some water for that?” Nya mocked, spidering her fingers over his tummy which got a much bigger reaction out of him. “NAHAHAHA!! I-I WILL KILL YOU AHAHAHALL!!” He screamed through his laughter. Cole then squeezed his hips, causing a familiar squeak to come from him as all of their eyes lit up like a festival in the night. “Ay, there’s that sound we all love! God I missed that.” He grinned, moving down and squeezing his knees and thighs.

While they were tickling him, Nya noticed his lower arms starting to slowly fade as a purple fog started slowly covering the air. “Guys! It’s working!” She yelled, in which they all saw. “Lloyd, do you remember the game we used to play. You would always bug me while i was working and I asked you this question. How many ribs does the average human have?”

Just that question alone sent memories flooding through his mind, his purple eyes widening as he saw Zane ready his fingers, meanwhile Kai helped him and held his arms. “So.. 2, 4, 6…” Zane counted, squeezing and drilling his fingers between each rib while Lloyd went berserk. His once unsettling and creepy cackle turned into a much nicer and familiar squeaky and high pitched cackle as he squirmed around. “Lloyd! You must stay still, now I’ve lost my place! Sigh I guess I’ll have to start over again..”

Lloyd could just hear the stupid smile in his voice as he started at the bottom again, his fingers climbing his ribs like a ladder as Lloyd’s squealy laughter filled the streets again. He couldn’t handle the teases being spewed at him left and right.

“Aww, his adorable laugh is back!”

“Look at him squirming like a worm!”

“Awe, seems the oh-so-powerful green ninja can’t handle a few tickles..”

Everyone’s eyes lit up as they saw Lloyd beginning to transform back. His Oni face was replaced with a familiar adorable grin and platinum blonde hair, his 2 extra arms had fully disappeared, although his purple eyes remained; now they just had to finish him off.

“Cole, care to do the honors?” Kai said, looking up at Cole with a smirk as Cole nodded and grinned, cracking his knuckles menacingly while nervous giggles bubbled in Lloyd’s throat. He paused for a second, the anticipation killing Lloyd, but before he knew it, Cole lifted his armor and blew the biggest raspberry ever directly on his belly button, rubbing his stubble into his belly as well.

Lloyd was screaming of laughter at this point, squirming and kicking like his life depended on it while he had a big happy smile implanted on his face. After what seemed like forever, Cole finished up the raspberry as all the ninja stepped away from Lloyd, begging to the FSM that it worked….

Lloyd’s eyes fluttered open, but they weren’t pink and glowing anymore.. they were green. A familiar green. He slowly stood up, looking around at everyone staring at him, his eyes widening.

“LLOYD!!!” All of them cried as they ran over to him, knocking him back down while they all hugged him as tightly as possible. Lloyd couldn’t contain his happiness as he wrapped his arms around them, sobbing quietly while they comforted him as much as possible, rubbing his back and stroking his hair. He was finally home. He was free.

“Lloyd!” Wu and the others yelled, running over and joining the hug. “We’re so glad you’re back.. you don’t know how relieved we are..” Skylor muttered. “I missed you guys so much.. I-I thought I would never get to see you again and that I w-would sniff be trapped forever a-and-“

“Shh.. It’s okay, we’re here..” Cole mumbled. Lloyd breathed shakily as tears continued streaming down his face. “I- ..I love you guys… I-I love you all..” He choked out between his sobs, his eyes puffy and red. “We love you too Lloyd… N-no matter what..” Kai said while he too began breaking down as Lloyd hugged him, burying his face into his shoulder.

Lloyd soon regained himself, breaking up the hug as he wiped his eye. “Well, seems Kai was right, leaking one of your secrets was worth it!” Cole said, ruffling his hair. “Wait WHAT?!” Lloyd slowly turned to Kai while his face turned pale. “…5 seconds Kai..” He muttered, in which Kai zoomed off, Lloyd chasing after him while the rest of them laughed

TWO WEEKS LATER.

Lloyd’s hair flowed in the wind while he stared down endlessly from the patio, his eyes locked on the grave in front of the monastery.

HERE LIES GARMADON.

LOVING HUSBAND, BROTHER, SENSEI, AND FATHER.

He felt an ache in his chest. This time, instead of hiding his tears, he let them flow down his cheeks while he took in a shaky breath. “I see you’re back over here.” Wu said, walking over next to him with 2 cups of tea, offering one to Lloyd in which he accepted it. “Mhm..” He mumbled, taking a careful sip of the hot tea. “..He was one of the bravest and sweetest man I’ve ever seen.. He never hesitated to stand up for his loved ones.. like he stood up for you.” Wu looked over to Lloyd who was wiping tears off of his face. “..Do you think he’ll ever return?..”

“Lloyd, my boy. He is already here.” Wu said, putting a hand on Lloyd’s shoulder as Lloyd looked over to him with a confused look. “..What do you mean?..” He asked. “I mean that his presence is here. You may not be able to see him, but you can feel him.”

Lloyd looked back down, his eyes slowly closing while he took in a deep shaky breath, his senses calming. He didn’t know why.. but he felt a comforting presence.. it felt familiar.

It felt like his father.

“..I can feel him..” He muttered. Wu smiled, putting a hand on Lloyd’s back. “Just like elemental powers, a person is truly never lost. They just have a new perspective. A new beginning.”

Okay it’s 4am and I bring you: Ninjago gamer hcs (in order of who plays the most)

Jay is the gamer. That’s what he spends most of his time doing. He prefers older games for the nostalgia and has a massive collection. He also is just really into computers and consoles and knows so many unnecessary things about computing history and what pc has the best performance and what not. Yknow he’s probably a twitch streamer. And he just generally loves all kinds of games, arcade, console, computer, mobile. And he’s played all of them. He’s also probably tried his hand at coding games but he’ll start a project and never finish it (yknow like everyone ever). Jay also probably makes let’s plays and game reviews lol.

Cole is almost as diverse in his game tastes as Jay but he gets rlly into specifically rp games, and will ramble on about the plot of a game to anyone listening. He’s usually Jay’s player 2 in any co op game, and can become quite competitive (there’s like two instances of Cole being someone who beats other people’s high scores - even though one of those times was a prank by Lloyd). He’s actually got better hand eye coordination than Jay but Jay has more knowledge on game mechanics.

Pixal usually plays borg games (because yes of course Cyrus borg makes games). Regardless of what genre it is, she supports her dad. Although her favourites are racing games bc zooom. I think she’d enjoy rpgs as well idk. She got into gaming as a way to have alone time, and isn’t a huge fan of co op with the ninja because they’re really loud lol. But she can be player 3 sometimes.

Lloyd plays whatever is new trendy and “soon to be considered cringe” (not to say they are cringe but just to address the games that other ppl tend to describe as cringe). So he was big into minecraft and Fortnite (or the Ninjago versions of those) when it was popular. I can see him being in to first person shooters just because a lot of people play those. Oh and Nintendo esque games. Like we all know he kinned link from any Zelda ever. I think he’s also a fan of sonic tbh (jay too). Oh but Lloyd scarcely ever plays older games. He only really plays games that have just come out and as soon as a new game comes out he’s abandoned the old one forever.

Zane doesn’t play games all that often (honestly he enjoys board games more) but he does enjoy incredibly hard or thought provoking games. He’s a rhythm game king and is scary good. He’s also a mobile gamer on top of that. Unlike Cole, Zane can’t really get into rpgs especially if the graphics are kinda old school. Also he usually gets high scores so beating him is usually seen as a great triumph. Also everyone on the team is prone get frustrated at losing games but Zane isn’t really a sore loser because he never loses. But on the off chance that he does struggle with a game and loses, he’ll sigh and lie down on the sofa and idk refuse to make dinner. He’ll sulk the longest out of anyone and it’s fair because RHYTHM GAMES ARE SO PERSONAL OKAYYY

Nya doesnt really like video games. But she’ll play them to make jay happy because she likes seeing him game. But mostly she’ll just watch and offer random commentary. However she love love loves the dance game at the arcade because romance and also she likes being active (maybe she’d like a wii sports lol). She’s got a soft spot for the arcade but that’s about it.

Kai only likes a select handful of games and it’s usually brawl streetfighter games that specifically came out when he was a kid, and it’s mostly because he was good at them. He used to like them a lot more but grew out of it. He just doesn’t understand how complicated newer games are, and barely remembers how they work anyways. He’s like and old man who just watches Lloyd gush about the new game he got for his birthday with barely any idea of what’s going on. He’s more of jock so.

Wu does not game it hurts his eyes. I’d say he’d like chess but I think wu would absolutely despise chess (and it’s because both Garmadon and Misako are chess pros and wu doesn’t even remember the names of the pieces)

Bonus: all the ninja love (hate) mariokart and it is chaos. Cole spends 30 minutes picking a character, Lloyd can only be green characters because he relates to them, Kai is screaming because he keeps falling off the map, jay is screaming because he just screams during games, Nya doesn’t even play properly she drives around backwards on the map, Zane will get blue shelled and Pixal will win and Zane’s just holding back tears repeating “I love my gf” over and over. And Wu will unplug the tv because he wants to go to bed.

just wanna lift you up and not let you go

But before Jay could speak, he was immediately thrown off balance by the near tackle of a hug that he had been pulled into and he didn't hesitate to wrap his arms tightly around Lloyd, wondering if the subtle heat radiating off of the boy's skin was just from sweating through yet another nightmare or something worse but he knew that he had to focus on the task at hand.

When everything had been said and done, Lloyd refused to sleep in his own room.

It wasn’t like any of the others could blame him for not wanting to be left alone after everything that had happened, but they all knew that he found the most comfort in Kai and Nya and only went to the others when the Smith siblings were unavailable.

Which Jay was okay with and while a part of him wanted to be the one that others turned to, he also knew that between his periodic insomnia and his lack of motivation to clean his room after training and saving the literal city was not something that was inviting to anyone who had just been through half of what the youngest member of their team had gone through.

As the digital clock on his phone shone on his face in the pitch black of his room, telling him that it was two forty seven, the last thing he expected to hear was a sharp knock on his bedroom door.

At first, Jay contemplated ignoring it. His feet were finally warm after being under his covers for four hours, Mr. Cuddlywhomp was nestled under his arm and his eyes were just starting to close as he continued to watch yet another Vine compilation to try and battle the current bout of insomnia he was suffering from.

But the knock happened again, somehow sounding even more urgent than the last, so Jay moved Mr. Cuddlywhomp to the end of his bed, paused the YouTube video before setting his phone on the small end table and pushed his blankets off while hoping that there wasn’t an attack on New Ninjago City at that exact moment.

But when he opened his bedroom door, he was admittedly a little shocked to see Lloyd in front of him, tears still fresh on his face as he looked up at Jay even though there was maybe a two inch difference between them since Lloyd had grown another three inches in the last month.

“Lloyd, I’m right here,” Jay assured him while placing a hand on the back of his head and gently ran a hand over the blonde wisps of hair, “whatever happened in your dream wasn’t real. I’m safe, you’re safe.”

And with those words, Lloyd let go, his left hand around his right wrist and in the dim light, Jay nearly cursed at how flushed his cheeks were against his pale skin.

‘He’s sick. He’s feverish and probably needs some sort of healing tea-’

“C-can I stay here tonight?” Lloyd’s voice came out in a stutter, which made Jay stop in his racing thoughts about needing to get Misako, Wu or Kai to handle the situation that he knew was out of his element.

“Yeah, get in here.” Jay insisted against his best judgment and closed the door behind him before pulling back the covers so Lloyd could easily curl up under his comforter.

When Jay got in and pulled the blanket over both of their bodies, he was a little startled when Lloyd immediately curled up against him, his hot cheek against his chest, only muttering a breathy “thanks” before falling asleep with his arms wrapped around him in a way where he couldn’t grab his phone.

But at the same time, the light pressure that Lloyd’s now slack arms were applying made Jay’s body relax to a point where he was drifting off just as fast with a flicker of a thought of telling Kai in the morning before he was fully asleep.

…

When he awoke the next morning, the last thing he expected to hear was the sound of yelling; it wasn’t some sort of battle cry, it barely even sounded like an argument. If he had a guess as to what was currently happening in the dining room of The Bounty, it was probably Cole playfully taunting Kai louder than usual.

But after managing to maneuver out of bed in a way that wouldn’t wake Lloyd, Jay couldn’t hold back the quiet curse as he saw that Lloyd’s cheeks were just as, if not even more, flushed then the night before and now he could hear a subtle wheeze whenever he exhaled which only cause more panic to the master of lightning.

He knew that the boy’s sleep schedule was practically non-existent since they had gotten him back just the week before, but he also knew when to get help from the others and the current situation was out of his wheelhouse; As a result, he didn’t hesitate to go into the dining room where the rest of his team was gathered aside from Zane, who was more than likely working on breakfast in order to, at the very least, get an idea on what to do.

“Morning, sleepy-head,” Nya’s tone was light as she joked, making Jay’s heart flutter because he still wasn’t over the fact that he had lost her, “we already cleaned up breakfast but I’m sure that there’s some in the fridge for you.”

“The kid is in your room, right?” Kai piped up from where he was playing Uno with Cole and Nya, his voice laced with worry despite Cole putting down a draw two that would have made Kai’s hand steam in any other circumstance.

“Yeah, he’s still sleeping,” Jay swallowed nervously, the small lichtenberg figures that adorned his hands tingling like they did whenever he was nervous or stressed, “is Sensei here? Or Misako?”

“No, they made a tea run together,” Cole explained and Jay couldn’t help but mutter “shit” under his breath, which perked the attention of the Smith siblings as Cole abandoned his cards to put his ghostly, cold palm on Jay’s shoulder before asking, “what’s going on?”

“Lloyd’s sick. He’s been running a fever since last night and now he’s wheezing.”

“Damnit, Jay!,” Kai swore as he slammed his Uno cards face down on the table while getting up, flames dancing in his eyes while he approached, “why didn’t you tell us until now?!”

“Because he needed sleep!” Jay shouted back, knowing fully well that Kai wasn’t really that angry and more so stressed, which was evident when he deflated slightly in understanding of his thought process.

“Well, after that,” Nya spoke as she stood, her hand gravitating to her older brother’s shoulder, “he probably is awake now, so you two should go check on him,” Kai nodded and started walking toward Jay’s room, Jay following closely behind while hearing Nya say to Cole, “we should keep working on my elemental dragon.” before he was too far away to hear her speak.

Sure enough, when Kai opened the door to Jay’s bedroom and turned on the light, Lloyd was sitting on the edge of the bed and rubbing at one of his eyes, asking “what time is it?” with a yawn.

But while to anyone else, the boy seemed normal aside from his skin being a shade too pale, Jay could still see the flush across his cheeks and the red, wateriness of his eyes that was a large indication of the boy’s sickness.

Sure enough, he wasn’t the only one who saw the obvious signs of sickness since Kai hadn’t spoken at all since entering and placed a hand on Lloyd’s forehead before making eye contact with him, “how long have you been sick? And don’t try to downplay it, I’ll know.”

Lloyd was slow to respond but when he did, Jay could tell that he was being truly honest and he couldn’t help but wonder if it was due to the fact it was Kai asking and not any of the others.

“Last night. I came in here because I…,” the boy didn’t even finish his sentence, the water in his eyes starting to inch down his cheeks while his shoulders shuddered, to which Jay couldn’t stop himself from pulling him into a hug before Kai could get to him.

“Hey, we just wanna help you feel better,” Jay insisted, watching Kai’s expression form into some sort of guilt from over Lloyd’s shoulder, “you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to, okay?”

To his surprise, the boy nodded and squeezed onto him harder, seemingly using all of his natural strength to hold onto him, pressing his face harder against Jay’s shoulder.

“We’ve got you,” Jay insisted, rubbing Lloyd’s back to slowly coax him away from his shoulder so he could act, but it took at least five minutes for green eyes to meet his own, “I’m gonna go get a thermometer and talk to Zane, see what he thinks we should do until your mom and uncle get back.”

“C-can I stay here?” Lloyd stuttered followed by a deep, chesty cough as he no longer looked at Jay and looked at his palms instead.

“Of course,” Jay insisted, running a hand over Lloyd’s forehead to move his blonde wisps of hair out of his eyes and hiding his wince of sympathy when he felt the heat radiating from his body that he knew had to be uncomfortable for him, “do you need anything from your room?”

But before Lloyd could respond, Jay felt Kai’s warm palm on his shoulder as he butted in, “I’ve got that handled,” before his voice was redirected to Lloyd, “you rest,” and with that, Jay was all but pulled off of the bed and forced out of the room, Kai finally letting go once the door was firmly shut, “”you don’t have to talk about it?” You know that Lloyd bottles things up-”

“Of course I know that, you aren’t the only one who helped raise the runt! I’m not gonna pressure him to talk when he’s miserable!”

“That’s not what I’m saying to do, but you can’t just encourage him to keep it to himself either!”

“Oh FSM, you two!” Cole shouted from the hall, putting his hands on both of their chests to keep them from getting in each other’s faces, “Stop it! Lloyd’s sick, not deaf. He can hear both of you fighting,” Jay stepped away, taking a deep breath to try and regulate his racing heart as Cole continued to speak, “Kai, you should call Sensei and Misako, let them know what’s going on.”

“Fine.” Kai scowled as he walked away which had Jay trying to swallow his nerves away, but Cole’s quick turn from Kai to him forced his attention away from Kai’s anger.

“Look, I can’t really be in there, not with how jumpy he is around me when he isn’t sick,” the unspoken words “because I’m a ghost” didn’t have to be said, “I’ll do what I can to cool Kai down, but you’re kinda the head ninja on this, at least until Sensei gets back.”

“I know.” Jay nodded, trying to remember how exactly to take care of a sick person.

After all, he seemed to be the one who ended up sick the most, or would at least be the only one to admit to it, so he tended to be on the receiving end of the care from the others.

“Alright, I’m gonna go find a thermometer, that’s gonna help with knowing how to lower his fever,” Jay started to explain to Cole, “and if it’s something viral, I’ll keep watching him since I’ve been exposed the most, but we still need a few ninja in commission between criminals and Nya’s training.”

“Yeah, that makes sense,” Cole agreed with a nod, “I’ll go see if Zane is starting on some chicken noodle soup and get Kai calmed down.”

And with that, Cole went towards the bridge, leaving Jay to start searching for the thermometer.

…

After getting Lloyd into the most peaceful sleep possible, now that Sensei and Misako were back and had gotten him to not only drink the tea but also had started to get his one hundred and three fever down, Jay knew he had to talk to Kai.

‘I can only use Lloyd as an excuse to avoid him for so long.’ Jay thought to himself as he started to search The Bounty in order to find the master of fire. He knew that he wasn’t in his room since the door was open and the lights were off, so he made his way to the deck while peeking his head into rooms the entire way.

Sure enough, Kai was above deck and sparring with Nya; Jay watched as their movements mirrored each other in awe. Nya was able to evaporate every blast of fire that Kai tried to throw at her, but he was an expert at dodging her attempts of hitting him with water.

But, as they continued to fight, Jay wasn’t surprised when Kai kicked Nya’s legs out from under him but also that the marks on his hands were starting to tingle when the Smith siblings turned to him.

Nya spoke first, her hands resting by her side and her brow dripping with sweat from the training as she asked, “how is he?”

“He’s sleeping, Sensei’s with him,” Jay explained, pushing back the thoughts of ending up with Nya that had plagued him after seeing the reflection in the First Spinjitzu Master’s tomb, “but last I heard, his fever is starting to go down.”

“Good,” Nya said with a sigh of relief while wiping her sweat on the sleeve of her red and cyan gi, but before she disappeared to more than likely clean up, she turned back to her brother with a grin as she spoke with a giggle laced within her voice, “I’m beating you next time.”

“Yeah, we’ll see about that,” Kai responded, but before he could go, Jay reached his hand out in front of his chest, stopping the fire ninja in his tracks as his tone switched from playful to anger, “what?”

“He’s going to be okay, but I don’t think you’re actually that mad at me,” Jay insisted, to which Kai turned around so his back was facing him, forcing Jay to take a breath in order to avoid blowing up before continuing, “I know you promised him that you’d look after him. I heard you say it.”

Kai whipped back around, but instead of anger, his face was contorted with guilt instead, “you got it. I said I’d look after him, and the same day, he got possessed,” he sat down on the deck with his defenses fully down, which allowed Jay to approach, “so much for a protector.”

“Kai, you can’t…you shouldn’t blame yourself,” Jay said, putting his hand on Kai’s tense shoulder, “yes, you made Lloyd a promise and yeah, we couldn’t protect him from Morro. But you know all that stuff Sensei says about not being able to change the past but affecting the future?” He waited for the nod before adding, “you’re going to feel guilty for a while about it and that’s something that I can’t get rid of for you, no matter how much I want to.”

“What exactly are you saying, Jay?” Kai demanded, his lack of patience for the resolution shining through.

“Until you’re able to forgive yourself, you should keep doing what you said you would do, what we all said we would do the moment we let him in, which is to protect him.”

Kai stayed silent, processing everything that had come out of Jay mouth, and while the master of lightning could have sworn he saw a single tear trickle down Kai’s face, it was masked by a soft laugh while he questioned, “even if he protests with his “I’m not a little kid any more” spiel?”

“Oh, especially if he does that!” Jay insisted while standing before offering his hand to Kai, who took it which allowed him to pull himself up, “even if it’s just because it’s funny to see the look on his face when we keep doing it!”

Three days later, Lloyd had already gotten through the worst of what had plagued him and while that was good for Jay now that he had his bed back, now they had a slightly bigger issue which was that the fever had been replaced with stubbornness.

“Lloyd, just go lay down,” Cole insisted as they started to suit up, having been called into New Ninjago City, “if you go before you’re better, you could get worse.”

“But I want to help!” Lloyd shot back, his arms crossed over his gi that he had all but ripped out of Zane’s hands when the alert had gone off while he was doing laundry.

“It’s just a couple of standard criminals, Lloyd,” Nya insisted, “I mean, I’m going and I just unlocked my true potential. That’s how low the threat is.”

“Then I can help!”

“Not that low risk, kid,” Kai insisted, “you’re staying here with Sensei. That’s just how it goes.”

Jay couldn’t help but feel bad for Lloyd who was practically pouting on the deck; after all, Lloyd had just gone through hell and then he had gotten sick and now that he thought about it, he couldn’t remember the last mission Lloyd had been on aside from Stixx.

And in a moment of impulsivity, Jay knew what he had to do; pull out his fake cough and hope that it was bought by the others.

“Why don’t you guys go ahead?” He suggested, coughing into his elbow, “I think I’m catching what Lloyd had.”

Despite Kai’s raised eyebrow, the others seemed content with believing Jay and agreed, flying off into the city with a few “feel better”s, leaving the two of them on the deck only for Jay to be greeted by Lloyd’s crossed arms.

“Why did you lie?”

“Because I didn’t want you to be lonely,” Jay shrugged, watching as Lloyd’s face morphed from questioning to a grateful smile, “now come on, I’m gonna teach you how Cole cheats at Uno.”

(If someone draws Lloyd hugging Jay, I will be so so happy)
