Yet Another Kingdom Hearts Revisit, Part FINAL
I'm shocked every time I play the game by the ending. I still cannot believe that Kingdom Hearts was allowed to end the way it does. Video games might not be as expensive or as influential as a major motion picture, and Disney might not be terribly hands-on with the development of each game, but I can't imagine the company today allowing such an untested, improbable, and high-profile crossover to go through without a happy ending for some insurance. I can scarcely imagine the Disney of the early 2000s allowing it, but what do we have? An ending where Mickey Mouse is trapped in the realm of darkness with an edgy teen who was tempted by a figurative devil, Donald and Goofy are adrift in the universe with no clear way home, and the young/first love story between the original characters ends with them literally pulled apart. It took two more games for any of these characters to find a happy ending which was later torn up, but never mind.
But if those other games had never come - if Kingdom Hearts was a critically acclaimed but financially unsuccessful game, or if Square folded after 2002, or if they and Disney had a parting of ways that kept any more games from being made - the ending of KH I is still an almost perfect finale. And a large part of that comes down to the fact that it is an ending.
Leave out the rest of the series and take KH I on its own terms. The main conflict is that world after world is being consumed and destroyed by the Heartless, ostensibly due to the League of Disney Villains but really due to Ansem, Seeker of Darkness. King Mickey recognizes the danger and organizes a resistance with Final Fantasy characters that tries to learn what became of Ansem, and Sora ends up tasked with saving vulnerable worlds and undoing the damage already done.
By the end of KH I, the goals of the heroes are all accomplished. The story doesn't turn out to be a cog in the ever more convoluted scheming of a guy in a black coat; it's self-contained and resolved. All the Ansem Reports are found, Mickey's efforts with the FF crew provide vital aid to Sora, and Sora saves the universe.
On a character level, everything set up in the beginning of the game has a resolution. The innocent, childlike, plucky underdog proves himself a responsible, selfless, true hero over everyone's expectations (except for Kairi's). The posturing, swaggering big man on campus technically chosen to play hero proves himself a pawn to darkness, but finds redemption in the end. The girl caught between them, a girl with a mysterious past and budding insecurity about the future, turns out to have a big destiny and gains renewed faith through her love and trust in Sora. Donald and Goofy honor their vows to their king, and the king is confident that all is well. They all may end up separated, their victory tinged with loss and sacrifice - but they've all grown and changed through their adventures, in ways that satisfy the conflicts and doubts they have at the start. Their conflicts end.
It's not necessary that they all make it home for a happy ending (as beautiful as that moment is when it finally comes in KH II). It isn't necessary that they die either. And it isn't necessary to have a secret movie teasing a possible future entry, as fun as that is. The finale, as bittersweet as it is, ties up the game, in a way I can only fault for how technically illogical (but thematically brilliant) Kingdom Hearts the place is, and for not making as good a use of Chernabog as they could have.

Rouge - Taikoura one-shot for Shades of Red
For @taioraweek 2023 Day 8
[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
A/N: Shades of Red is a very precious little story I wrote for digiweek 2021 about Taichi falling for not only Sora, but for Koushiro as well. A story about the wonders of polyamorous relationships and that it takes self-knowledge to take that one courageous step towards a life full of love. So have a new shade of red <3
Based on a little Taiora-scenario I wrote in early 2021 which @seventeenlovesthree made sure to provide with beautiful art which I'm still so in love with :3 You can find it here: [x].
Day 8: Rogue or Blush | Characters: Koushiro Izumi (POV) x Sora Takenouchi x Taichi Yagami | Genre: Romance, some sort of hurt/comfort | Rating: T | Wordcount: 1.293
Tumblr media
A yawn escaped him as he stretched his slender frame, the office chair rolling slightly to the back. Koushiro was still up, the different monitors on his desk lined up and on. After much complaining from Sora, who was according to him unnecessarily way too worried about his health, he had installed a filter on the screens. That way he could protect his eyes, but still work during night time.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t work in the day time, no, he had grown fond of working with both Taichi and Sora around. However, they had the tendency to distract them and so, being the night owl of the three, he decided to catch up on work during the night. Koushiro liked the quiet, the only sound interfering his endless thoughts the sound of keys clicking.
Time had already gone way past midnight when the sound of his fingers flying over the keyboard was interrupted with bare feet entering their shared office. Koushiro peeked over his computer screens, his eyes picking up on red-colored messy sleep hair, his nose smelling Taichi’s perfume she was bringing with her into the room.
“Sora-san, shouldn’t you be asleep?”
His fingers left the keys as he decided to check up on her. He watched her closely and concluded she looked stress. It wasn’t a surprise with the big deadline that was luring from behind a bush called Friday. Koushiro remembered all of her speedy talking which wasn’t very Sora-like, her calm demeanor sliding off.
“I couldn’t,” Sora answered sounding sleepy yet stressed. “Tomorrow’s the first draft for the collection and it feels like I missed a few details. I have to check it.”
Not for one second did she look at him. As if pulled to her drawing table, she walked towards it, her right hand frantically searching for the right pencil underneath the pile of designs. To Koushiro they were all equally wonderful and knowing Sora, he knew she didn’t miss any details. He also knew she was stubborn, perhaps even more so than Taichi, and so he didn’t ask further. Instead he kept a close eye on her while he kept working, thinking it would only be a few minutes before she would return to bed.
But a few minutes turned into over half an hour and Koushiro grew worried. Without saying anything, he stood up to grab the both of them some tea.
“Thanks.” Was all Sora said as he carefully placed the cup on the only empty spot on her drawing table. Her eyes were wide, completely focused on her work. Koushiro looked over all the colors and lines dancing on the papers forming beautiful designs for modernized kimonos.
“I truly admire your skills and ambition, Sora-san. The designs look unquestionably stunning, I’m convinced that they’re enough for a first draft. I’d like to escort you to bed so you can sleep some more.”
“Tell that to yourself, you always stay up late,” Sora snapped back, but immediately realized how mean that was. She finally looked at him. “Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that.”
“I’m aware. You must be tired, hence why I wanted to bring you back to bed,” Koushiro explained calmly.
Sora smiled in return, her tiredness didn’t allow her to keep her lips curled up for too long. “And I appreciate your worry over me. But I just can’t sleep yet.”
Koushiro nodded in response. She gave off a tired look, the determination however made her glow all the same.
A little bit defeated, Koushiro headed back to his seat behind his desk. He sighed before his fingers went back to the keyboard, then started typing once more, the room filled with the tapping sound again. Per usual, it made him loose track of time.
Eventually from the corner of his eye Koushiro could see Taichi’s sleeping body dragging himself into the office. The brown haired man rubbed his eyes and a yawn escaped him as he placed himself next to Koushiro, looking over the computer screens in Sora’s direction. A worried expression emerged on his face and Koushiro looked up to Taichi.
“How long has she been up an working?” Taichi asked with a hoarse sleepy tone followed by another yawn.
Koushiro checked the time.
“It could easily be over an hour now.”
Taichi sighed. It was all he needed to know. He kept standing there, watching her work, worried yet the fondness in his eyes easily outdid the worry.
Even though Koushiro was well aware of Taichi’s adoration and admiration for both him and Sora, he could never get enough of Taichi staring so intensely to especially Sora. It was something he could observe day in and out, it would never grow old.
“What?” Came Sora’s voice. Clearly she had been taking notice of Taichi’s staring. It made Koushiro snap out of his thoughts, however, Taichi only intensified the eye contact he now had with her. “Do I have something on my face?”
“No.” He replied. The features in Taichi’s face changed from intensity to softness accompanied by a cheeky grin.
“Then what is it?” Sora asked, the annoyance in her voice returning.
In a way, even though Taichi meant it well, these little exchanges of words between his two partners made Koushiro feel uncomfortable. Simply because it could go two ways. They would either start bickering, or…
“I just think you’re beautiful.”
Or they would jump each other in a more sexually physical way.
Yes, Koushiro loved them both very much, but their intensity could sometimes be a tad too much. Making him blush in frustration or ecstasy. Often it was both though.
He looked from Taichi to Sora and back in anticipation. Because with Sora being stressed and tired, you could never predict how exactly she would respond.
Koushiro had not expected the cherry red blush on her cheeks radiating warmth and surprise.
“Go back to bed, Taichi,” she stumbled, failing to hide how that one compliment had gotten to her.
“Well, you’ve heard the boss,” Taichi said to Koushiro, taking Sora’s words as his cue to go. “Can you tell her I’d like to see her back in bed soon? And you too by the way.”
Taichi winked and gave Koushiro a sweet small peck on the top of his head before he turned his heel to return back to bed. Alone.
Or so Taichi thought.
Right before he would have left the office, Taichi was stopped by Sora hugging him from behind. Her graceful arms embraced his athletic body, her one hand just able to hold the wrist from her other hand. She pressed her head to Taichi’s back and rubbed her nose into the fabric of Taichi’s sleep shirt, a genuine smile happily dancing on her lips before she spoke.
“Thank you, I needed that.”
Koushiro looked at the both of them, standing in the door way exchanging love in a to him beautiful way. It was tender and fragile, grand in its simplicity.
Where Sora’s blush turned into a warm and grateful pinkish one, Taichi showed a knowing one. Accepting the love he felt for her. For them. And all Koushiro could do was take in the little loving still he was treated to.
He recalled how their love wasn’t self-evident from the beginning, especially to Taichi. But the road he had followed together with Sora and Koushiro had led him to being his happy and cheesy self again. Where his blush first was one of confusion and shame, it now showed his pride and a genuine love.
Koushiro smiled, a shared blush like rouge now complimenting his own face. Happy he was here with them, being able to see the love unfold in front of him over and over again.

Shunsui Got Yoruichi to Help With Lisa's Captaincy
There's a paragraph in CFYOW vol. 1, after Tokinada leaves Shunsui after handing him a note and trying to upset Nanao, where we get the following:
“I can’t believe you set yourself up to eavesdrop without me noticing. You’ve grown so much! Is this Lisa’s influence?” It was possible that he mentioned Lisa Yadomaru, once an assistant captain and now being eyed as a candidate for the eighth company captainship, to reassure Nanao with thoughts of a familiar face.
CFYOW is supposed to take place six months after TYBW (June 2003), around the start of 2004. So we know Lisa was being considered already then. A summary of WDKALY tells us that:
Orihime currently works as a regular employee of a bread and cake shop called ‘ABCookies’. After her older brother INOUE Sora passed away, she was getting along by receiving assistance with living expenses from a distant relative; but because of the fact that the relative had originally declared that they would only provide assistance up till high school graduation, since the summer of three years prior, Orihime had been searching for a job placement for after graduation. During that time, she was working at the shop part-time, the shop manager who had learnt of her situation insisted that Orihime be fully employed by the company.
WDKALY is happening three years after TYBW, in 2006. But when? Another paragraph:
In one block of that institute, the fourth-year students who had just finished their summer vacations were gathered in the large lecture hall which could feasibly accommodate all graduate students.
Summer vacations usually happen through August, presuming a schedule like Japan. It's either late Summer or the start of Fall. We also learn that:
Ever since KYÔRAKU and Nanao transferred to Squad 1, Nanao has been executing the duties of both captain and vice-captain of squad 8. Six months ago Lisa was finally inaugurated as Squad 8’s new captain, she happily took over the duties of a captain, however she stubbornly refused to handle tasks on behalf of an absent vice-captain, as a result squad 1’s Nanao was handling that share even now.
This means that Lisa became a captain sometime in early 2006, more than two years after she was already under consideration for the role in CFYOW. And then we get told by Yoruichi:
“Like I’ve said, since I’m a genius and all, I don’t know what teaching methods to use towards average people, but I was told to either undertake the responsibilities of guest lecturer once every half a moon, or restore squad 8 by becoming its captain, naturally I decided that I probably had no choice but to take up responsibilities in this place.” If she refused to restore the squad then she would have to deliver a lecture on Hakuda and Hohô to the 5th and 6th year students every other week. That was the proposal handed down to Yoruichi from Commander KYÔRAKU. “We probably can’t afford to leave people as talented as SHIHÔIN-san idle…after all, orders have been sent down to all squads, each squad elects at least one member for academy lecturer.”
We know from earlier in the same scene from Yoruichi that:
“KIRA, this is the first I’m seeing you in half a year, correct? In any case, are you getting along well with ÔTORIBASHI?”
Kira asks how Yoruichi is adapting to teaching, so obviously she only started after she last saw him. Yoruichi took up this academy teaching position at the same time that Lisa became Captain of 8th Division. In other words, sidelining Yoruichi into some other "useful" position was the final hurdle Shunsui had to overcome to be able to promote Lisa into being captain, as he wanted since all the way back in TBTP.
I once assumed Shunsui must have essentially blackmailed Yoruichi, as she more than did her part on the Seireitei's behalf over the prior years (she 'sourced her own replacement' in Soifon, which is the normal condition for 'retiring'; she surrendered her active role in the nobility; and she helped with Tokinada) but as I look at how long it took to get Lisa into the role, and how relatively cushy Yoruichi's job as guest lecturer is, I think it's actually sort of the reverse: she did Shunsui a huge favor, and he owes her.

I really want to highlight that element on Sora’s happiness. Moreso in a means of appreciation towards not just his character, but what it embodies and shares.
You know that feeling of security you get when things seem shaky? I feel like that best exemplifies what he often delivers, especially to others, and unknowingly to himself. It’s an element that just finds itself weaving itself into the many interactions he share.
People treat him as if he’s one of those friends you just know for a long time, despite knowing him for marginally small moments. (That often grown with natural time), and in turn, it really leads to a highlight that makes what looks like monumentally cruel and grueling circumstances be reduced to walks in the park. In that, I think there’s a very discernible power, to have a companion that can proceed to wash those fears away.
His mood is a culmination of experiences both made upon the field and with his beloved friends, learning from them, taking the way that grit together their tenacity and allows it a shine to way to offset and upset the balance that loves to thrive on grief. A broad smile in the face of danger, bringing what looks like borderline arrogance to his foes, all in the name of bringing a courageous second wind to his allies, it’s like that way of flipping the defined concept of horror and chaos clear on its head. To wrest that very control and establish that new agency onto the situation itself.
Unhorror? Close enough.
And despite the cost that comes to himself? It needs to be stated that he’s never intentionally bringing this up as a mask, at least intentionally. Sora has a true desire in being the way he is, it’s just him, despite the many instances where he’d have to catch up and process his sorrows. There’s a stark refusal to let that jade lens every become a permanent fixture within his life, and at most, he’d like to introduce others to share a bit of his view. Even if it’s rife with duties, responsibilities or those twists of fate.
What’s wrong with hoisting a little smile or just letting those carefully centered parts of you breathe?

Meet me in the woods (4)
Sora Sarutobi is a sheltered child, set safe with parents, classmates and clan, wanting for nothing. He is nobody, living through more terrible things in the first six years of is life than others do in a lifetime. When they meet by accident, Sora’s life is changed forever.
Hi, hello, I have a new chapter for this and it is long again. I'm sorry.
I once commissioned art for a scene in this chapter with the amazing @hkzv. You can find it here.
Grown up Sora looks like this (click)
Yamato | Tenzou x OC
9655 words
Tenzo becomes squad leader of Team Rō and Sora tries to get funds for her project. They have chance encounter.
4. The girl with red hair.
The affair lasted them about three years. Kakashi found himself in Tenzō’s apartment on more nights than not and they spent hours together just distracting one another. Tenzō learned to be good at it, learned how to angle himself, how to use his tongue and his hips to get his captain to forget all about himself. He liked it well enough, enjoyed the feeling of it, enjoyed being of help, though he wished he was more than just another tool. Kakashi wasn’t in love with him, this wasn’t romance or wasn’t turning into romance. Tenzō was willing and available, he was with Kakashi on most missions, he was practical to have around. It was what it was.
Maybe a part of Tenzō wished that it was more than just a distraction. Maybe sometimes when he saw his senpai dress himself back up in the early morning hours he wanted him to stay instead. From the first rough time Kakashi had at least improved his attitude and now took much more care of Tenzō, letting him take the rains if he wanted to, praising and supporting him when he felt like it. But there were still the days when he came back with blacked out eyes and a wild lust that ended in Tenzō’s back being scratched bloody. It was what it was. Tenzō accepted it.
+
Sora hated talking to her uncle in the official hokage office, not only because the office seemed too public with its big windows and many secretaries, but also because it smelled of cleaning supplies and responsibility. But sometimes her uncle couldn’t just be her uncle and talk to her about school and missions and passions at a family dinner, sometimes he needed to be the Third Hokage of Konoha and she was just another worker in his beehive. So she stood there, fingers bound together at her back and heart beat flying to her ears and stared at Hiruzen Sarutobi.
She had just finished a rather lengthy presentation of her therapy idea and offered her short as well as her long term goals. To continue she would need more funding, not only to rent rooms but also to train other people. It was also not the worst to have the Hokage sanction your idea, especially when it came with extensive trauma talks with shinobi. Now she was standing expectantly waiting for his judgement and her uncle took his time looking through the papers she had prepared for him and then to her. He slowly nodded at something he read and then he looked up into her eyes, she swallowed hard. It was now or never.

SFW and nsfw HCs modern day for KH boys? I saw that you were looking for KH requests and I’m happy to provide. (As this is a lot of men, I would specifically like: Riku, Sora, Roxas, Axel, and whomever else you like as well).
HOKAY so. This is a bit of a tangent, but I wanted to throw it out there for everyone since it's in my rules now and it's a bit weird.
The KH characters' ages have put me a in a pretty weird spot lmao. It doesn't come up much if ever in-game, but Sora and the gang do have canonical ages- and by the best current estimate, they're 16, maaaybe 17 as of the end of KH3 (where we're at now)- while Riku is a year older than Sora and Kairi, putting him at 17-18. By my typical standards, this would mean that the OG trio, plus every character that is a version of that trio and/or implied to be the same age as they are, would be underaged and thus not characters I'd write for.
Axel and Saix are actually about 10 years older than the main trio, given the age we see them at in Birth By Sleep (which I feel like a looot of people forget, given some popular ships) but that's why those two, plus all of the "adult character model" types (Aqua, Terra, pretty much all current and former Org members) are fair game.
I haven't decided whether I'm comfortable with "aged up" content just yet. I know some writers have been harshly attacked for it, so I have to imagine it's a loaded issue in fandom.
And as a final note, I simply cannot find it in me to sexualize Sora. He activates a deeply maternal impulse in me. I've caught myself verbally apologizing to him when I let him get hurt as I play lmao. And then on the other hand, Riku is designed and written to seem so much more mature, and very well may be 18- so he's a super weird gray area for me.
SO WHAT I'M SAYING IS This is so fucking complicated and I just don't wanna make anyone (or myself) uncomfy lmao so we're gonna keep it SFW for the OG trio and all characters originating from them for now, whereas anyone of Axel and Saix's age or older is fine for NSFW. Anyway, I'm just laying out my own comfort level.
And with that, let's talk headcanons-
Modern AU Headcanons
SFW Riku, Sora, Roxas
NSFW Axel, Saix
Riku:
- He's in his first year of college, at a good school though maybe not ivy league (he's skeptical about that title anyway). He's double majoring in a couple challenging fields- perhaps political science and environmental biology, or pre-law, or some such. Something challenging, but that he feels will empower him to have a career where he can make an impact- though he'll have to be ready to tackle the corruption inherent in political systems some day.
- He's an excellent student, and held in a place of awe and respect by his classmates. He seems so put-together and confident, despite his challenging class load. Internally though, Riku feels like he's constantly on the verge of an absolute crisis. He's the type who's on top of his studies and absolutely not on top of his mental health, and on the fast track to some serious burnout.
- As your boyfriend, he's an absolute sweetheart, but always wishes he could do more for you. He genuinely cherishes you, but he feels like he stumbles over his words when he tries to tell you, and like he never has as much time to dedicate to you as he'd like. He knows he'll screw up sometimes, or have periods when he can't be as available or responsive as he'd like when his workload becomes overwhelming, but he'll always make it up to you with a painstakingly well thought out date night as soon as he has the time.
Sora:
- He's taking a gap year between highschool and college to travel and do service work in as many different places as he can manage. He's got weird and fascinating friends across multiple countries, and is frankly having a great time being able to do work for various underserved communities while visiting old friends and making new ones. He's grown a modest internet following through short vlogs and instagram- and while Sora's not necessarily good at social media (or anything tech related at all), and certainly never set out to become popular online or anything -his natural charm and enthusiasm is infectious, and his followers flood his comments with support.
- He barely graduated highschool by the by; he could have gotten okay grades, but he constantly forgot his assignments, when tests would be, etc. School was really more of a chance to spend time with his friends than anything else, so the boring stuff tended to slip his mind. Definitely the type to be in a thousand extracurriculars and know everyone's name.
- Sora is the sweetest and most openly affectionate boyfriend- you'll frequently catch him staring dreamily at you like he can't believe how lucky he is, and he has no qualms about bragging to his friends about you. He can be scatterbrained about some things, special occasions and specific wording and such, but he's very emotionally intuitive, so even if he doesn't quite know what to say to make things better, he'll always know when you're upset and do anything he can to help.
Roxas:
- He's starting at a small but relatively prestigious college, somewhere quiet and home-y. He hasn't decided on his major yet, but he's keeping an open mind and staying fairly on top of his studies, while enjoying a small but very cozy and intimate friend group. His favorite way to spend a slow afternoon or evening is just lazing around the dorms with a friend nearby studying on a bed, another playing a game on a small tv, and him scrolling through his phone while they casually chat about any and everything. It's low pressure, but comfortably intimate.
- idk if any of you guys knew someone like this at your work/school, but Roxas strikes me as the type who, because he's a bit quiet, everyone perceives him as super confident and on top of his shit. So while his true friend group is very small and cozy, plenty of people around campus recognize him and call out to him when they see him around, or hype him up to their friends as this incredibly cool, chill guy, despite really not knowing him at all.
- Roxas is fairly oblivious but very sincere as a partner. He doesn't have much serious relationship experience, and he's very aware of this fact, but he desperately wants to be as good to you as you deserve. He'll try his best to express himself with compliments and dates, but really, his love language is best shown through cuddling and physical closeness. He finds holding you to be incredibly reassuring, even while studying, playing a game, or anything else that he's supposed to be focusing on.
Axel:
- He's a musician for sure- the front man for an alt rock band with some electronic influence. They're extremely popular within a niche audience, and their shows are always high energy and with plenty of lights and pyrotechnics (of course lol). Axel himself focuses on vocals and sometimes guitar, though he dabbles in just about any instrument he can get his hands on, constantly experimenting with new sounds and absorbing as much creative influence as he can. While his usual wild personality would make him seem flippant, he takes his music seriously, and it's just about the only thing that can hold his unwavering focus for very long.
- Axel is not an emotionally reserved type, and isn't worried about taking things "too fast," and as such, he'll be more than happy to offer to have you along on tour with him if you like, or even invite you to be part of the music or performance. Still, it is important to him that you get along with his friends, so things won't go well if you're not all having a good time together. Oh and given how shameless he can be, he has no problem with fucking you on the tour bus, not caring for even a second whether the others can hear you struggling to stifle your moans.
- He doesn't have much of a mind for special occasions or elaborate date nights, and sometimes, it can be hard to find time to be alone with him away from friends and bandmates. It's not that he doesn't prioritize you, he just gets caught up in his social life and forgets that time alone together is precious and important too. That said, he's vocal about how attracted he is to you and how much he appreciates you, so you'll never have reason to doubt his affections, and if you speak up and tell him you want time with him, he'll do anything in his power to clear his schedule for you (and then fuck you so nice and deep that you forget you'd ever been frustrated with him).
- If you can't join him on tour, or he's too busy to see you much at home for a while, Axel is the king of sexy voice messages and videos. He needs you to know that he's still thinking of you no matter what (especially since some view his confidence and openness as flirtation, even though he's fully devoted to you), and he wants to help tide you over until he can finally have you again. It's even better when you reciprocate in full; nothing drives him absolutely wild quite like a lewd selfie that just barely covers what he desperately wants to see, or a short voice message just to hear you moaning and panting as you pleasure yourself to thoughts of what he'll do to you when he's home.
Saix:
- Saix works best within a hierarchy and when he has clear goals to work toward, and as such, he does well as the personal assistant and de-facto second in command to a fortune 500 company CEO (not to mention, Lordy, Saix in a suit with his hair tied back? Goddamn). He's ruthlessly efficient, and some among his coworkers find him even more intimidating than the boss- but he does his best not to think too hard about the specific ethics of big-business like this. He's had to sacrifice and repress a lot to make it to where he is.
- Most of his impressive salary that he cares to actually spend goes toward affording a place to stay in the city that's large and isolated enough to give him the peace of mind that only solitude and quiet can lend. That said, he does have a small number of close friends, and while no one knows when this started, it's just assumed that hangouts and get-togethers will happen at his place, since it's the most spacious and comfortable. Saix adamantly denies that he ever offered to host, but he also never turns them away.
- He doesn't have the highest sex drive overall, and frankly, he works so hard and for such long hours that it's hard to find the time and energy for intimacy. That said, when the mood strikes, it's positively fierce; he'll text you to be waiting for him at home in as little clothing as possible, and you'll know he's looking to spend a full night ravishing you. Admittedly, part of his intensity in bed is a way to relieve work stress, but it doesn't hurt that, though he's miserable at expressing it, he's absolutely obsessed with your body. When Saix decides he wants you, he'll bury his face between your legs, milk multiple orgasms from you with his hands, and mark you with bites from your jaw, down your stomach and along your thighs.
- Saix is the biggest sucker for small, sweet and genuine signs of affection. He's not great at it himself, but just seeing a message from you to say you miss him while he's working late yet again turns his face bright red, and he'll spend the next half hour trying to come up with the right reply, only to just end up sending "I feel the same. I won't be much longer." But when he does see you that night, he holds you extra tight, nuzzling his face against your hair. He hates being called out on it, but it's incredibly easy to turn him into a melting, blushing puddle- and heaven help you if you do it to him with friends around. He'll "punish" you quite thoroughly, so you'll only have yourself to blame when you get no sleep and can't stand the next day.

She will no longer "Embrace Destiny"
Destiny is more often that not a goal or fate one's life is chained to. If destiny is a force of the universe, no one can "control" destiny so to speak. However someone of a higher power, domain or "providence" can change the destiny of one with lesser power, control and/or knowledge (of their own destiny).
Tumblr media
Kairi was only four years old when Apprentice Xehanort took her, experimented on her and shipped her off of her world for two purposes apparently:
1) For her "Heart of Pure Light" to resonate with the "key bearer" and lead Xehanort to them.
2) As of Melody of Memory, apparently Apprentice Xehanort also wanted Kairi to arrive in a world of neither light or darkness which could possibly be The Final World. Ironically, this would mean he was successful on both accounts by the end of this game.
However, it's clear up above Kairi is upset and that line of "You're the one who keeps messing with my fate" implies much like how Aqua finally figured out in Kh3/Remind that Xehanort possessed Terra, Kairi will finally find out how and why she was ripped away from her grandma and home of Radiant Garden. Not only that, but it shows us she never really had a choice in how her fate was twisted and manipulated to whichever way the Xehanorts needed at the time:
- Apprentice Xehanort shipping Kairi off to Sora and Riku
- Ansem SOD/Riku sacrificing Destiny Islands causing Kairi's heart to take refuge in Sora's heart.
-Xemnas and Xehanort taking Kairi to crystalize her heart to use as a final gambit to open Kingdom Hearts.
The next lines "If it weren't for you Sora and everyone would be safe...I won't let you walk away" indicate for Sora, her friends and herself, she will no longer allow anyone control over her destiny. She has the strength and determination now to make her own destiny and fight against anyone who messes with her fate again.
This is the reason I can see Kairi getting a new keyblade.
A lot of the main characters' keyblades are symbolic of their hearts and roles within the series, as well as how they've grown and evolved over the course of their journeys.
The most obvious case being Riku.
Riku
Tumblr media
Kingdom Key> Soul Eater
The Kingdom Key was originally meant for Riku, as he was the keyblade's chosen. But when he chose to give in to the darkness the keyblade went to Sora instead, and of course Soul Eater was a weapon of darkness given to him by Maleficent to signify his alignment with her.
Soul Eater> Way to Dawn
It's in the name.
But seriously Way to Dawn is a perfect symbol of Riku's journey of acceptance of his darkness and redemption from kh1 to kh2. The keychain is the dark heart on his "Dark Riku" form which signified his complete fall to darkness. But from the keychain upwards we see the "Gazing Eye" encircled by an angel wing and demon wing, symbolizing Riku's decision against alignment with light or darkness. Afterwards majority of the blade is the demon wing from Soul Eater largely because Riku's role within kh2 is him working from the shadows undercover as Ansem and doing his best to distance himself from his friends who walk the path of light. However at the very end, an angel wing meets the large demon wing which is symbolic of us teaming up with Riku finally, as he showcases his mastery of light and darkness alongside Sora and friends.
Way to Dawn> Braveheart
In DDD, Riku materializes Soul Eater and questions his worthiness as a keyblade wielder. He still has doubts but still continues to hold on to his true motivations being to protect Sora. Riku accepts that he can use the power of darkness while standing firmly on the side of light to protect his friends. He no longer needs to find or follow the way to dawn, because by the end of DDD came the Dawn of Riku, a Keyblade Master and Guardian of Light.
And "Braveheart" is pretty simple. Riku found the strength to protect what matters, and it's perfectly symbolized by Riku's sacrifice for Sora.
"I'm ready now, I'm in control now."
Tumblr media
Terra and Aqua (technically Ven as well) have never left home by the beginning of BBS and throughout the game they experience trials and tribulations that challenge their friendship and we see by their Keyblades at the end the results of these trials.
Terra
Earthshaker> Ends of the Earth
Strong and powerful, after hearing Riku's motivation for strength being his friends he bestowed upon him the keyblade which reignited his devotion to his friends. This is also symbolized with Lingering Will, as that's the keyblade he's left with. He'll go to the ends of the earth to save his friends and right his wrongs.
Ends of the Earth> Chaos Ripper
Terra's devotion to protect his friends turns into rage against Xehanort for killing Eraqus, taking his home and manipulating him. Allowing darkness to further consume his heart.
Aqua
Rainfell> Stormfall
Aqua's journey mostly consist with things happening around her and to her friends. Aqua being the only master of the three and worried for their safety, Aqua does her best to assume responsibility and watch over them. Much like rain, it was a light and simple task. But Xehanort's manipulations and temptations with both Terra and Ven, increased Aqua's worry and need to have control over her friends to keep them out of danger. Unfortunately certain seeds had already been planted amongst them, causing Aqua's worry and concern to come off as patronizing and distrustful of her friends. This weakened the trust in the bonds they share making her job to protect them even more difficult and adding to the weight of responsibility she carries.
Stormfall> Brightcrest
Terra and Ventus have both lost their hearts to darkness. With Venuts sleeping in Castle Oblivion and Terra taken over by Xehanort, Aqua was their only chance of ever coming back. She was the only one who knew how to find Ventus and the only one left to defeat Xehanort once and for all. She stood tall and was willing to risk it all for her friends, she was their "light in the darkness".
Ventus
Tumblr media
Wayward Wind + Lost Memory
Ventus' keyblade is the only one that doesn't evolve or change throughout the game. Instead Lost Memory is gained when Vanitas forces Ventus to remember how he came to be. Ventus gains a newfound acceptance for his fate with this knowledge and only cares if his friends are safe.
Axel/Lea (Dark Rescue)
Tumblr media
Flame Liberator
Axel betrayed the organization. Axel did everything he could to keep Roxas and Xion unaware of the truth so they could live in blissful ignorance (or be happy). He saved Sora at the last minute in DDD and made it his mission in KH3 to get Roxas back. He even declared to Saix that he would bring him home as well. His keyblade represents his determination to save and free his friends from a cruel fate.
Tumblr media
Destiny's Embrace also tells a story for Kairi, but much like how she got it, the symbolism isn't representative of her personal journey.
- The keychain of Destiny's Embrace is funny enough, a popular fruit. When two people share paopu fruits, their destinies become intertwined.
- The chain, unlike many others is a red thread in knots, most likely representative of the Red String of Destiny. The "Destiny Knot" (pokemon references ftw) is what ties two people together romantically or what ties two destinies together.
- The hilt of the keyblade is the King chess piece. The king in this case referring to Sora (Crown, Throne, Holds his keyblade like King Arthur in artwork). To me this is symbolic of how Kairi has literally held Sora's fate or destiny in her hands at certain points in the series.
• In kh1, Kairi reverts Sora back from a heartless/the darkness after sacrificing himself to restore her heart.
• In khcom, in order for Sora to regain his memories, he has to focus on his "light in the darkness".
• In kh2, it's not until after reading Kairi's letter to him that the Door to Light opens the way for Sora and Riku to return to Destiny Islands in the realm of light.
• In kh3, it's Kairi's light that keeps Sora from fading away within the demon tide and holds him together so he can save the other guardians.
- Surrounding the grip is a heart with half of it having a sea/ocean/wave aesthetic. It could be representative of Kairi's heart and the heart of her nobody counterpart Namine, whose name means wave.
- Half of the heart with the vine extending down the blade is identical to the keychains of Sora's Ultima Weapons in kh1,2,DDD,3.
The crown connects to the heart which belongs to both Kairi and Namine which makes sense because Sora and Kairi together created Namine.
- I'm not sure what the blade symbolizes aside from maybe fire because of her entanglement with Axel (doubt) or more likely the fires of Kairi's determination to improve, so she can stand by Sora and Riku.
- The flowers at the end with "logo" heart of course represents Radiant Garden. I think Nomura always planned to explore Kairi's past at some point especially with how connected it is to Union X, and that Kairi as well her grandma would be the bridge connecting the past and the present.
However, because of kh3 and most likely M.O.M, I think Kairi will quite literally be freed from "Destiny's Embrace", both Xehanort and the keyblade.
Like I said before, a lot of the symbolism for Destiny's Embrace is externally based. Mostly because Kairi never gets the chance to shine nor do we get to see what's going on inside of her head. Some of this is also because of Kairi's reluctance to bring up her past trauma when asked about it.
Tumblr media
• Sora is gone, no need to be a plot device/motivation for him. Instead it's the other way around.
• Namine is her own person now.
• Melody of Memory will finally tackle and resolve Kairi's past.
Everything Destiny's Embrace represents will be resolved by the end of Melody of Memory. So just like how Riku completed his Darkness character arc by the end of DDD and got Way to Dawn replaced by Braveheart as a symbol of his newfound growth, either by the end of M.O.M or in KH4 Kairi will be rid off all of the things holding her character back from truly growing on a narrative and meta level and the keyblade that symbolizes all of those things:
Destiny's Embrace

How do you think Isa feels about the fact that when he was a kid he was taller than Lea but as adults he's shorter?
Tumblr media
I wondered that, too. Axel was taller than Saïx.
Tumblr media
A friendly and childish boy, and his good friend who's cool, collected, and mature beyond his age.
But as kids, Isa had a decent bit of height on Lea. IMO, Isa would love the fact that Lea grew so tall. It’s part of their dynamic. Isa was the mature and adult-like one.
Tumblr media
“Huh? Are you okay? Lea!” Startled, Kairi hurried over to him. She had never seen a man older than her cry like this before. Not this hard, certainly.
And Lea was always the childish one. What I found interesting was that he never showed this side to anyone else. He was always the calm, mature, responsible adult with Roxas and Xion. But with Saïx in KH3, he acted more a kid. When Saïx mentioned his upside-down tears, Lea said “Don’t need ‘em” in a way a first-grader would, lol. Basically, the real Lea is a crybaby.
Tumblr media
Lea: Would you get lost? I’ll clobber you tomorrow.
Saïx: Hmph. I expect no less.
Although I don’t really like the way Lea and Isa were handled in KH3, I do think there was an attempt to keep the underlying idea of their relationship intact. I think the idea was that Saïx was wasn’t expecting to survive his final fight with Lea. He was going to bring Roxas and Xion back to atone for his sins, then he was going to fight Lea to the death and perish (this idea doesn’t even make sense with Saïx being a Nobody, since afterwards he’ll just be recompleted. But I still think that was the idea of their clock tower scene).
Saïx knew Lea would be reluctant to fight him to the death. So, in order to spare Lea pain, he was putting on a tough guy act on the clock tower. Him making fun of Lea’s tear marks was him trying to be cool and mature, so he’d seem unaffected by the upcoming battle. After all, he’s not a crybaby like Lea. Lea later calls him out for this act he was putting on. Saïx acted like a jerk on purpose, so that Lea would want to clobber him and wouldn’t hold back during their fight. I think Nomura was trying to stay somewhat true to Isa’s character.
Tumblr media
Axel: Well, even if things change, we'll never be apart--
Xion: As long as we remember each other...right? Don't worry, Axel--we got your hokey speech memorized.
In Days, Axel said this. It was something he remembered Isa telling him in the past.
Hayner: Well, I doubt we can be together forever. But isn't that what growing up's all about? What's important isn't how often we see each other, but how often we think about each other. Right?
When Hayner said it, it was about growing up and not being together anymore. It was supposed to sound trite, like something off of a fortune cookie. And Xion refers to it as a “hokey speech”. IMO, part of their backstory was that Isa was going to sacrifice himself. And he was hurting inside just as bad as Lea was. But he hid all of that pain and didn’t cry. He acted like he was okay with disappearing since it was better that way and he told Lea they’d never be apart as long as Lea kept him in his thoughts. He wanted to spare Lea pain, so he acted “mature” about his death.
Tumblr media
“Where’s Kairi?!” Sora shouted toward the voice.
Saïx looked down at them from the stage. “Kairi…? Oh, I expect she’s catching up with her friend from the darkness,” he said as if it were nothing of much concern.
“What’s that mean?!” Sora demanded.
“She doesn’t need you anymore.” Saïx smiled, but the expression didn’t reach his eyes.
That was the world’s most obvious lie, Sora thought.
But Isa was covering up his own childish side. He wasn’t really okay with dying and being apart from Lea. In KH3, Saïx was lying to himself. He was acting so aloof to distance himself from his real feelings. He thought Lea lost his tear marks because he didn’t need him anymore. Lea was all grown up. He wasn’t a crybaby who would bawl his eyes out if he lost his precious Isa. He moved on, basically.
So, Saïx accepted his own death and was going to let Lea be with Roxas and Xion, his new best friends. It was better that way. Deep down he was jealous and longed for Lea’s affection. But since he felt like Lea didn’t need him anymore, it was just better for him to just disappear and let Lea be happy. Saïx felt like he didn’t deserve to be with Lea and was trying to take himself out of the picture in a way where Lea wouldn’t feel guilty.
Tumblr media
Saïx had no response for that. A moment went by before he spoke again. “You’re letting yourself get too attached to them.”
“Right, sir, of course, sir.” That was all he wanted to say to me?
But just as Saïx started walking away, he caught a barely audible murmur— “You’ve changed.”
He listened to Saïx’s receding footsteps, and his gaze dropped to his own feet. “You sure I’m the one who changed?” he said under his breath.
Of course, Lea saw through his act. The real Isa is not as mature as he tries to portray.
You're ultimately still a crybaby, but you don't need the marks anymore. It seemed like you didn't need me either. Yes, I thought that I didn't need you with me anymore. That's why I sacrificed myself to that man. If you didn't need me, then I no longer held meaning.
Isa was quiet and only comfortable opening up to Lea. He really, really needed Lea emotionally and was very attached to him. He was the original “stray puppy”. I think Lea must have made him feel safe and protected. So, Lea will always be his little crybaby (in a very affectionate way). But he’s not a little kid anymore. He’s strong, dependable, reliable, and able to protect him. That’s why I think Isa would like the fact that Lea grew tall. It makes him feel safe.

Maybe 16 with Taiora? 👀
Friends to Lovers prompts, find them here.
Taiora + 16. "I had this guy friend in high school, and I legit had no feelings for him. One day, I was absent. The next day, he said he missed me because he had no one to tease. He said it while he was laughing in a wholesome way."
A/N: NOVEL SPOILERS! For starters, a screenshot from the first Digimon Adventure novel:
Tumblr media
A Taiora one-shot amidst all the Takari fluff and angst I see floating around! This little one-shot is set in a Tri setting. I mixed up the 'prompt' a little, you'll see ;) Thanks for the ask and to everyone who'll be reading this: happy readings!
All jokes aside
Coming back to school after a day of being absent. All the questions he received, the stares in his direction... He hated it.
Taichi, being one of the school's soccer superstars, walked to his classroom, enduring all of the nosy people and groupies who wanted answers from him. It was none of their business, so he either ignored them or waved them off. Once arrived in his classroom his soccer comrades came running to him, asking him the same questions he had already heard a thousand times that morning in the hallway. Again he waved all of them off, taking his seat behind his former soccer comrade and childhood best friend.
They had been classmates for as long as he could remember and he had stared at her auburn hair for years now. She was a serious girl, caring and compassionate, kind and warm. Sora was his safe place, always had been and always would be. He watched her scribble something in her notebook. Taichi knew she aspired to be a designer one day, which was odd to him at first, because back in the days Sora wasn't interested in any of those more girly things. Being a boyish girl, playing soccer with the guys instead of with the girls, preferably wearing trousers and cracking jokes with the boys in a way no other girl could.
But she changed. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, the contrary. She had grown up into a beautiful and endearing young woman, one Taichi very much admired. Not because she was a girl he had to fall in love with or whatsoever, but because she was still his friend. And nothing would ever come between that precious friendship.
Taichi sighed, loud enough to grab Sora's attention so she would turn around to face him. He could see her rolling her eyes through the back of her head and Taichi snickered at that. Amused and prepared for an annoyed comment from her side, he watched her turn around in her chair, but instead he was met with a warm and wholesome smile.
"I missed you yesterday," Sora said smiling, then hastily added "I had no one to tease."
For all he knew this was meant as a joke and he in his turn would roll her eyes at her. But he couldn't find any reason to do so. The way she had said it together with that gorgeous smile her lips curled up in and the eye contact that lasted for longer than it should have, sent Taichi off of his feet, making his stomach turn and his heart skip a beat. This time it didn't sound like a joke to him, neither did it look like it. Sora was genuinely telling him she missed him, the teasing part just a way to cover up something he could not grasp yet.
Taichi swallowed, sheepishly smiling at her in response, not knowing the right words to say back. A blush he didn't show a lot to others crept up his face, mirroring the rosy pink on Sora's cheeks. He watched her shyly turn back around facing front as the bell rang, standing up when their teacher entered the classroom. They bowed, said their morning greeting and sat back down, Taichi's eyes fixated on the flowy auburn locks of the girl in front of him the entire time.
Maybe something could come between their friendship after all.

Question: Why is Sora becoming a fashion designer perceived as a “non-empowered” or “non-feminist” choice, in 2020?
Tumblr media
To begin with: this analysis isn’t about if Sora’s Epilogue career choice was foreshadowed or developed enough. That issue belongs in a more general discussion about why some fans felt dissatisfied with the Epilogue, in particular those jobs that were considered to be unexpected or more left-field.
It also isn’t about individual fans’ personal disappointment with the character’s trajectory. Obviously, there are many factors at play that could lead one to be unhappy with how Sora’s turned out — dub changes, the cultural background information that isn’t always evident, or just personal reasons. No-one needs to agree with Sora’s job or feel compelled to justify their personal dislike.
Nevertheless, I will propose the following four explanatory hypothesis for why people might harbor a negative view of Sora’s career choice:
1. Being a fashion designer goes against Sora’s previously-established personality, interests, and values. 2. Her future career isn’t empowering. 3. It’s regressive, because all the female characters just ended up with stereotypical, traditional feminine activities. 4. Sora stopped being a role model for gender non-conformity in girls.
In this post, I’m going to try and demystify those points of view, in order to try to show that Sora’s career is both fitting and empowering.
***
Hypothesis 1: Being a fashion designer goes against Sora’s previously-established personality, interests, and values.
I believe this perspective is more connected to a general misunderstanding or lack of appreciation for Sora’s character arc.
To make a generalizing statement, many fans felt frustrated when Sora went from being presented as not particularly “girly” (playing football, wearing more practical clothes, being friends with boys) to “suddenly” becoming more feminine post-Adventure (playing tennis, wearing more feminine clothes, being paired off romantically with a boy, doing ikebana). This “dramatic change” culminated in her in her becoming a fashion designer in the Epilogue.
Similar complaints exist about Miyako’s endgame. In both cases, dissatisfaction  is based on the notion that a girl who doesn’t present as typically girly or has “masculine interests” in childhood wouldn’t gravitate towards “feminine things” later on. Some people believe that, in 02, becoming more traditionally feminine was associated with growing up and becoming more mature. Consequently, Sora and Miyako’s Epilogue jobs were a “correction” to their earlier presentation as young girls who challenged traditional gender roles.
Tumblr media
While I think this is an understandable complaint, I must emphasize that a more deeper analysis of Sora’s character arc might help explain her trajectory in a more straightforward way.
Consider:
It’s clear that Sora is coded as not a "girly girl” in Adventure. Not only does she have a unisex name, but she is often presented as a contrast with the hyper-feminine Mimi.
Despite of this, I would argue that Sora was never portrayed as a full tomboy. For example, she speaks in a feminine way; her manners are delicate, even dainty; and she undertakes roles that involve being caring and nurturing, such as Big Sister / Group Mom — and, at one point, even damsel in distress —, which are normally associated with femininity. You never get the impression that Sora considers herself to be “one of the boys” or that she constantly struggles against gender expectations. Even her digimon partner is pink!
In Adventure, Sora’s preference for football over ikebana and annoyance when her mother asks her to act more “ladylike” are explained as a being a reaction against the pressure of Sora’s position as heiress to an old Ikebana family. To give the Cliff Notes version of the story: Sora rejected feminine as a way of rebelling against her mother’s perceived lack of love for her, and against the pressures of her position as ie-moto Crown Princess.
Tumblr media
After Sora made up with her mum, she became more open-minded and gradually began to embrace and enjoy more feminine things, including tennis (it’s weird to me  that people consider tennis “girly”, but I digress), cooking, and flower arrangement. As a teenager, Sora is also often seen wearing skirts and more feminine clothes, suggesting a more ‘womanly’ presentation, and she even ends up becoming romantically involved with a boy.
I don’t see any evidence in Adventure or 02 that Sora wouldn’t be fond of art, design, or fashion. On the contrary: she practices and enjoys flower arrangement. Sora’s hobbies and personality traits in Adventure and 02 include sports, flower arrangement, resourcefulness, responsibility, sensitivity, and an eye for detail. Is that really incompatible with a future career in fashion design? The fact that she comes from an Ikebana family directly influences her career choice, notably the fact that she uses traditional Japanese elements in her designs. This establishes a strong connection between her Epilogue Job and her arc.
TL;DR: Sora wasn’t really a tomboy to begin with, and her becoming “more feminine” as she grew up is explained in the series as being a direct consequence of her Adventure character arc.
*
Hypothesis 2: Her future career isn’t empowering.
I think this stems from from the belief that being a fashion designer isn’t an important enough career.
Since Sora is a Chosen Child, fans would expect grown-up Sora to be saving the world or being involved in Digimon issues, instead of doing silly things like making dresses and kimonos. After all, she is supposed to be a Strong Female Character™!
Tumblr media
This point of view probably relates to the perception of creative professions — or anything related to art and culture — as “superficial”, “not serious” or “useless” for society. Fashion design, in particular ,is often seen as vapid or superficial, rather than a legitimate art form that can full of beauty and meaning. It’s the old story that if a career isn’t “powerful” or “useful”, then it’s less valid. (It’s interesting how no-one seems to question if becoming a footballer or a rock star would be “impactful” or “strong” enough for the two male protagonists.)
This might be also be tangentially connected to fans’ dissatisfaction with Sora’s decreasing importance in the team as the story goes on. Many people would have preferred to see her in a position of leadership, or in the front lines of the battle. In this sense, her career choice could be perceived as the writers sidelining this female character even further.
In short, Sora’s career isn’t baddass enough.
Counterpoints:
There are many reasons why Sora wouldn’t want to be involved in fighting as a grown up. I’ve written about it earlier, but I think nothing illustrates her choice better than the short film To Sora. While it’s fair to question to what extent this decision was linked to Sora’s increasingly smaller role in the team (meta-wise), it’s still based on established character motivations. Sora doesn’t work in digimon business because... she doesn’t want to.
Sora becoming a fashion designer is also a huge step for the character, in the sense that it means that she also does not end up taking over over as Ikebana grand-master. Instead, she forges her own independent path: she does something she wanted to do for herself.
Moreover, based on the little information we have, Sora either works on a relevant position or works in her own name, considering she is able to run fashion shows and make creative decisions. This means Sora isn’t just an artist with a vision: she’s in a position of power within the business.
We don’t have many clues to estimate how successful she is, but options range from her running her own small independent label, to being head-designer of a company, to becoming a proper superstar designer with her own successful global brand. All of those possibilities mean Sora has achieved considerable career success. If she’s doing some form of haute couture, then Sora’s arguably one the most “career accomplished” among the all group (if you use the usual questionable methods society uses to evaluate “accomplishment”, namely fame, power, and money).
And think of all the skills and talents necessary to be a successful fashion designer! Creativity; innovation; vision; diligence; hard work... to think of fashion design as an unimportant or “minor” profession is really reductive. Don’t you think icons like Valentino, Yves Saint-Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Coco Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Hanaé Mori or Rei Kawakubo aren’t respected and influential? I’m not saying Sora’s at that level (yet) — I’m just saying she might be.
TL;DR: In the Epilogue, we learn that Sora followed her individual dreams and is triumphing in a challenging and important industry, producing high-quality art in her own terms. She even has the potential of becoming powerful, wealthy, and famous. She’s the definition of an empowered woman.
*
Hypothesis 3: It’s regressive, because all the female characters just ended up with stereotypical, traditional feminine activities.
This view is based on the observation that all the boys ended up with “important” careers, while the girls ended up with “feminine” jobs or, in Miyako’s case, not even a career at all. In other words, fans believe that the Digimon Epilogue wasn’t exactly good at providing progressive role models for girls.
I do have some issues with this view.
First: Isn’t the idea that traditional “feminine” activities are automatically lesser in itself sexist?
Why do we assume that a fashion designer or a school teacher is “less” than a writer or a doctor? I’m not saying the Digimon Epilogue is problem-free or that promotes gender equality (it is, after all, a Japanese children’s cartoon from 2000), but considering the reality of working women in Japan, is the Epilogue that bad and regressive?
(Also, there are twice more men in the team than women, so there’s more room for wider representation on the boys’ side. The four girls in Adventure always carry the burden of having to stand for half the population. As I mentioned in section 1, the fact that Sora was perceived as a “tomboy” means her career choice receives even more criticism.)
Second: Is being a fashion designer truly a “traditional feminine activity”?
I would argue that considering fashion designer (especially in the “higher ranks”) as “woman’s job” is both stereotypical (“clothes are a woman’s thing!") and historically inaccurate.
Here’s a fun fact: As of 2018, only 40% of womenswear fashion brands are designed by women and only 14% of the 50 major fashion brands are run by women.
Think of the most famous fashion houses you know; you’ll find that the majority are almost all founded and/or lead by male designers. Looking at the list of Japanese fashion designers on Wikipedia, just over half of them are men.
In other words, the fashion industry was and continues to be overwhelmingly dominated by men, it’s plagued by lack of diversity and opportunitues for women, and women fashion designers a lot of obstacles and discrimination. So much for Sora having a “woman’s job”!
And don’t even get me started on how difficult it must be to conciliate this career with being a mother of two.
TL;DR: Sora is working in a male-dominated field were being successful as a woman is still incredibly difficult. Not that different from playing in the boy’s football team!
*
Hypothesis 4: Sora stopped being a role model for gender non-conformity in girls.
I think the previous sections have already negated this to some extent.
First, Sora was never that gender-conforming to begin with and she began embracing femininity long before the Epilogue. Also, the two things aren’t mutually exclusive. Liking football and wearing jeans doesn’t mean you can’t like fashion and wear dresses.
Second, being a fashion designer is a respected, demanding, and possibly lucrative career. Sora is both an artist and a successful businesswoman in a leadership role she chose for herself.
Third, fashion is a male dominated industry and fashion design isn’t “a feminine occupation”. Sora is still going to have to break barriers and face a lot of obstacles based on the fact that she’s a woman and a working mum.
TL;DR: Sora’s challenging of social expectations, her “less typical” childhood presentation and hobbies, and her being a source of inspiration for little girls isn’t invalidated by her becoming a fashion designer.
Conclusion
Upon reflection, Sora’s career not only makes sense for the character, but it’s a very empowering one.
Sora Takenouchi remains a feminist icon, thank you very much.
PS: I’ve always suspected that, on a meta level, Sora’s Epilogue career was very loosely inspired by Stephen King’s IT, which was listed by director Hiroyuki Kakudou as an influence for Digimon Adventure/02: more, specifically, the character Beverly Marsh is a red-haired girl who grows up to be a fashion designer.

surprise~ I wrote sokai. actually not a surprise I mentioned writing it after I beat melody of memory, I’ve just been working on it forever since my writing process has been a STRUGGLE lately. my AO3 and fanfiction accounts are linked on my profile if you’d prefer to read there [or just look up thedeliverygod]
Always
Sora blinked his eyes open to see his bedroom, a bright ray of sunlight running through the middle of the floor from where the curtains met. Grunting, he turned over and closed his eyes as he sunk his head down into the pillow again to go back to sleep.
‘Wait… my room?’
The realization clicked and his eyes shot open. As he gazed upon the ship hanging from the ceiling and other odds and ends collected around the room, he knew it had to be his.
“When did I get home?” He sat up and held his head, trying to remember what had happened last.
He had been in Quadratum for some time, but he had eventually met up with Riku and later the rest of their friends. Sora wasn’t used to being the one who had to be saved, but it took everyone’s strength and willpower to bring him back to their reality and the realm of light.
Kairi.
He remembered Kairi comforting him, talking to him softly but he couldn’t remember what she said.
He also remembered being at Yen Sid’s tower and something being mentioned about him needing rest. After that, nothing. Except for waking up here.
He shot upward and immediately felt the muscle aches all over his body as well as a multitude of bruises forming under his skin. Curative spells were amazing, but there was only so much they could do. He sucked in a breath before putting his feet to the floor and forcing himself to stand up despite the pain.
He clung to the banister of the stairs as he made his way down the stairs, but he wasn’t even halfway down before his mom appeared at the foot of them.
“Sora! I’m really glad you’re awake, but do you really think you should be out of bed?” She reached out a hand and took a few steps upward.
“I’m just a little sore, it’s fine.” He waved her off before giving a wide grin, “It’s good to see you, Mom.”
She shook her head but just stared at him with watering eyes as he continued to make his way down the stairs. Once he had reached her, she enveloped him in a tight hug, “I can’t believe how grown up you are.”
“Yeah, me neither.” He answered in a laugh.
“I’ve missed you so much.”
He hugged her tighter, “Me too.”
Hesitantly letting him go, she waved towards the living room, “Let’s go sit down.”
Sora nodded and followed after her, “Okay.” While she took the couch, he took the worn-out arm chair as he always had.
“Kairi filled me on somewhat of all you’ve been through over the past few years. I can’t even begin to imagine…”
“Speaking of Kairi, is she still here?” He asked automatically. After a beat and his cheeks starting to warm, he added, “Or Riku, or anyone else?”
Giving a confused look to his question at first, she realized what he meant and answered, “Oh, you mean on the islands. Yes, Kairi is still here. I believe Riku is still with the others that Kairi mentioned, though I’m not sure where they are.”
He let out a breath and nodded, “Ah, okay.”
His mom looked at him knowingly and smirked, commenting, “Still got it bad for Kairi after all these years, huh?”
Though he made a yelping noise in response to her blunt questioning, he looked away and answered, “Is that surprising?”
“Not at all. And the way she talked about you seemed to be quite different too, so I figured something must have happened. Are you finally dating?” She raised an eyebrow.
“Well, no, not really…” He answered honestly, “It’s hard to really ‘date’ with the life we’ve had.”
“Oh,” She parted her lips and let out a disappointed sigh, “Yeah, I suppose you’re right.”
“But,” He started again and she looked back up, intrigued, “Do you remember when we came back to the islands before a big fight before?”
She nodded, “Of course. I was so happy to see you then, too.”
“Well, we shared a paopu fruit when we went out to the play island to watch the sunset like we did as kids. Kairi’s idea, of course.” He flushed again, quickly adding, “N-not that I didn’t want to!”
His mom laughed loudly, “Of course.”
“But it was perfect. I think the paopu helped bring us together again despite the almost impossible odds, just like the legend says.” He gave another soft grin.
“Maybe it did help, but I think a lot of it was just… you two just being who you are, you know?” She gave her own smile in return. Sora didn’t really have the chance to respond before she changed the subject, “So, I suppose you asked about Kairi because you want to go see her, right?”
His face quickly reddening again, he admitted, “Well, yeah. But—”
“You can go.” His mom waved towards the front door, “Just be back before dinner.”
He stared breathlessly for a moment before smiling, “Thanks, Mom.”
“You’re welcome.” She answered as he got up from the chair and slowly made his way to the door.
Once he was outside and off the porch steps, he reached into his pocket for his gummi phone. Unsurprisingly, he had several messages from various people asking for him to call once he had woken up and was feeling better. ‘Well, I still kinda feel awful, honestly.’ He thought to himself, both as a truth and as an excuse to wait to call them later.
He moved to Kairi’s name and hit dial. After a few chirps, he heard her voice ring out through the speaker, “Sora?”
“Kairi!” He answered, grinning widely.
She gave a small laugh, “So you’re finally awake, lazy bum.”
“Yeah. Can’t say the same about my arms and legs, though. They kinda feel like jelly.” He tried to stretch his free arm again and found much of the same feeling as he had when he woken up earlier.
“I’m not surprised, I’m pretty sore too.”
“So… where are you? You’re still on the islands, right?” He bit his lip, hoping he hadn’t missed her.
“Of course. Riku wanted to stay too, but I guess there were some last-minute things King Mickey wanted his help with. Oh, and I’m at my house but I’ll come to yours. You really shouldn’t be pushing yourself so soon.”
He rolled his eyes, “I’m not that out of it. How about we meet halfway? Like around the park, I guess.”
Kairi hummed, “Okay, if you say so.”
“Great. See you soon.” He tapped the red button to end the call and set out on his way.
Pushing himself beyond his limits was nothing new with all of the things he had done on his adventures in the past few years, but he was still bent over in pain by the time he made it to the park.
“I would laugh because I knew you would do this, but you look awful.” Kairi commented as she approached him.
Straightening out and standing up straight, he smiled apologetically, “Yeah, you were right.”
“What a surprise.” She lightly grabbed his hand and tugged him towards a picnic table, “Let’s sit down.”
“Thank you.” He let out, unable to hold it in any longer as he sat down and faced her.
She blinked, “For what?”
“For everything.” He answered automatically. After a moment, he clarified, “For saving me.”
Kairi smiled and shook her head, “It’s like I told you years ago. I couldn’t just let you stay that way and forget about you. That’s the same reason you came after me, right?”
“To be honest, I didn’t really think about it. I just acted. But yeah, I guess that’s the best way to put it.” He admitted with a small laugh.
“That’s such a Sora thing to say.” She reached over to intertwine her hand with his.
He quirked an eyebrow, “I hope that’s a compliment.”
“Of course.” She smiled brightly as she nodded.
“So what’s going on with everyone else?” Sora shifted the topic of conversation, curious, “I know you said Riku stayed behind to do a few last-minute things but honestly my memory is kinda fuzzy about what all happened right before coming home.”
Kairi’s expression dampened somewhat, but she still kept a smile, “Just making sure everything is the way it’s supposed to be. And then we’re supposed to be able to take a break for a little while. Just hang out here on the islands; you, me, and Riku.”
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, “That sounds nice.”
“I’m sure. You’ve been through a lot.”
He opened his eyes and looked at her seriously, answering, “So have you, you know.”
Quietly, she nodded and held his hand a little tighter.
And suddenly, he knew what he had to do.
“Kairi.” He called her name and she looked up curiously.
“Yes?”
“This isn’t really how I ever imagined doing it, but I think this feels right.” He slipped down from the bench and knelt on one knee, with Kairi quickly clasping her hands over her mouth in surprise. “I don’t even know how old I was when I started dreaming about wanting to spend my life with you. And for a long time, it always seemed out of reach; both because I didn’t know how you feel and because of all of the things we’ve been through. But I want to make it real now. No matter what happens next, I want to be by your side, always.”
Kairi nodded vigorously, tears starting to overflow from the corners of her eyes, “That’s what I want too.”
Sora reached out and motioned for her hand, only to pull it towards him and kiss her knuckles. “I’m sorry I don’t have a ring yet. But like I said before, this wasn’t exactly planned so…” They both shared a quick laugh before he smiled widely and asked, “Kairi, will you marry me?”
“Yes.” She slid closer to him and pressed a kiss against him eagerly, “Yes, yes, yes.”
He cupped both sides of her face and grinned against her, “So… when do we let everyone else know?”
“Maybe keep it a secret for a few days or else everyone’s hugs may crush what little solid bones you have left in your body right now.” She gave a gentle squeeze of his arm which he had to admit hurt much more than he expected.
“Ow.” He rubbed the spot she had squeezed, “But that’s a very solid point.”
“Do you need me to carry you back to your house?” Kairi teased with a tilt of her head.
He shook his head, “I dunno, I think it’s poor form to have your new fiancée carry you.”
“Fiancée, huh.” She beamed, humming, “I think I like the sound of that.”
“So do I.” He kissed her again.

When Sora and Roxas returned to the others, the others had set up a bonfire and sharpened some sticks to grill food with.
Xion was the first one to notice them, as she immediately sprinted towards Roxas and asked if he was feeling better. When he nodded and apologized for not telling her what had upset him earlier, Sora thought he saw a few yellowish orange spots that looked almost like freckles on her face. He had already been told about her ability to change her physical appearance and how her emotions affected the changes, but he had never witnessed it until now. So this color meant… Joy? Relief?
Before Sora could really think about that further, Ven already dragged him to the bonfire, while Roxas and Xion stayed behind to talk to each other alone for a few minutes.
They grilled campfire bread, sausages, vegetables and marshmallows on sticks at the bonfire while swapping stories. Sora really wanted to know what everyone had been doing over the past year, and they were all too happy to give him an update on everything that had happened.
Roxas and Xion joined in a bit later, when Kairi was telling the others about the first time she ran into Ven when he was sleepwalking – something that had apparently given her quite the scare, since she told it as if she was telling a horror story instead. Sora was quite surprised when he noticed that the two former Nobodies were holding hands at first, but once Xion rested her head on Roxas’ shoulder and dark freckles appeared on her cheeks like a blush, he finally understood. A huge smile spread on his face.
They all exchanged stories well into the night. Stories of the past year, as well as childhood memories. Sora was a bit hesitant to share some of his at first – he didn’t want to remind the former Nobodies of something they didn’t have, especially since Roxas had been upset about it earlier. But then Xion mentioned just how much she loved hearing those stories from others, and when Roxas commented that he didn’t mind hearing about them since it gave him a better idea of what a childhood was actually like, Sora didn’t really have an excuse anymore.
When they all finally decided to go to sleep, it was already way past midnight.
Everyone had brought a sleeping bag – well, everyone except for Sora, but Riku and Kairi had made sure to bring his. No tents though. They were just camping in the open.
It took a while until everyone had found a good spot to sleep at, but Sora was glad to help everyone with it. Together with Kairi and Riku he made sure none of their friends were sleeping too close to the shoreline so no one would wake up in a soaked sleeping bag the next morning.
Soon, everyone was making their preparations for the night.
Aqua set up some kind of spell around Ven’s camp, probably to keep him from getting injured or into any trouble while he sleep walked. Meanwhile Chirithy argued that they could watch over him just fine as well, and Ven tried to mediate by saying two safety measures were better than one.
Naminé was apparently sleeping already. The ridiculously large coneflower she had been wearing laid next to her sleeping bag, weighed down with stones to keep the wind from blowing it away.
Sora’s eyes got caught on Roxas and Xion, who had apparently decided to share a sleeping bag. He smiled. It was admittedly a bit strange, seeing two former Nobodies confused about pretty much everything in one moment and then what was basically a couple in the next… Sora felt like he had witnessed a timeskip in moments like these.
Nevertheless, he was glad to see them being so happy with each other.
They had set themselves up at a nice spot not too far away from Sora’s own, where the beach was already fading into a meadow, behind a textile windbreak.
Xion had already slipped into the sleeping bag and laid down, back facing Sora. However, just as Roxas was about to do the same, Axel placed a hand on his shoulder. Sora couldn’t understand what he told Roxas, but judging by his slightly annoyed expression, it was probably some big brother thing.
Xion seemed to be amused by it though. “Axel!”, she giggled loudly, pretending to be shocked, which prompted him to chuckle in response. He ruffled her short hair and lightly patted Roxas’ shoulder as he turned to leave.
“Good night, you two.”
And with that, he headed over to his own sleeping bag.
Sora could see Roxas shaking his head a little when he crawled into the sleeping bag too, zipped it up and turned on his side as he laid down, facing Xion. She instantly snuggled up against him, even though Roxas hadn’t even settled down completely yet.
… And then, he briefly lifted his head, making eye contact with Sora.
Oh no. He had been staring, hadn’t he? Gosh, he hadn’t meant to… Sora just couldn’t help it sometimes. Watching others, especially couples, being happy just brought him joy as well – but at the same time, he tended to invade private moments sometimes. This had probably been one of them, so he prepared for a death glare from Roxas.
What he got instead was a smile and a nod – a silent ‘thank you’ and ‘you’re going to be okay’ at once.
… Huh. He hadn’t expected that. There was so much he still had to learn about his former Nobody… But for now, Sora just smiled and nodded back. ‘You’re welcome. And thank you too.’
He decided that he had watched those two long enough and should give them some privacy. Therefore he closed his eyes and finally turned on his other side, slipping his left arm out of the sleeping bag as he did so. The cool breeze on his skin felt so nice… It distracted him from the lingering sensations of heavy fabric on his skin.
“Hey lazy bum.”
He blinked and turned his head.
Kairi – in her pajamas – was looking down at him with a playful grin on her face. “Can we sleep next to you? Or is the spot already taken?”
Next to her, Riku shook his head, but Sora could hear him chuckling lightly, and even though he couldn’t see it, he was pretty sure that Riku was smiling.
Sora felt a blush creeping onto his cheeks – hopefully it was too dark for her to notice. “Uhm… Sure?”
It was funny, really. For such a long time, seeing them again had been his greatest wish, but now that they were all together again he wasn’t really sure how to act. They had been the ones to save him this time around, and Sora knew that he was forever in their debt. After all, it was his recklessness that had caused this mess in the first place.
But he just hadn’t been able to stand the thought of Kairi being out there, all alone, even if it was just for one more second. Much less the thought of Riku chasing after her, Xehanort’s words still echoing in his head. While Sora had no idea if he had already abused the Power of Waking at that point, and whether the price for that was already due or not, he just couldn’t bear the thought of pushing Riku into that danger. Not when there was the chance that he himself was already doomed.
At least they wouldn’t be alone. They would have each other. These thoughts had been a slight comfort for Sora, something he had held on to both while knowing that he didn’t have much time left in this realm, and during the year he had spent in Quadratum. Even though he now knew that it hadn’t been a happy year for Riku and Kairi either – all because of him and his stupidity.
And yet…
“Thank you,” Kairi smiled.
… It had somehow been worth it in the end.
As long as all of them were alive somewhere, they would always find each other again. Sora was pretty sure about that.
When they started to set up their own sleeping bags next to his, he realized that he hadn’t really gotten to take a close look at them ever since his return. Sure, he had briefly seen them in Quadratum, when they had come to help getting him back into the Realm of Light, but he barely remembered that. Sora had been at the end of his tether back then, suffering from a fever in addition to everything else.
After that, his heart had been resting inside of Kairi’s for quite some time, but that didn’t mean that he really got see her, or Riku for that matter, despite being with them all the time. And after his heart had been transferred to his Replica body, they hadn’t been around because they had been busy organizing the birthday party, as he now knew.
Riku looked much the same as he had a year ago. Sora found that he still couldn’t stop thinking about the similarities between Yozora and him. He had initially confused his best friend for the man when they first met again, still in Quadratum, freaked out and even attacked. He made a mental note to himself to apologize to Riku for that once the opportunity presented itself, it had been nothing but unfair. His hair had grown quite a bit too, and Sora found that it was a bit hard to see Riku’s eyes behind the bangs. Maybe that was why he hadn’t recognized him sooner. Sora made another mental note to himself to remind Riku to cut his bangs more often.
Meanwhile, Kairi looked a lot different than she had in his memories. She looked more mature. Sora supposed he did too. A year – more than a year, actually – was a significant amount of time, and this particular one felt like an even longer amount to Sora. Almost like an eternity.
Sora had always thought that Kairi was pretty, but over the last year, she had become stunning, if she hadn’t already been before. Beautiful even. Perhaps it was just a side effect of not witnessing the process, and only knowing the ‘before’ and ‘after’, but he didn’t care.
Kairi’s face had lost more of its roundness during his most recent absence. It looked somewhat slimmer, more elegant. Almost heart-shaped.
Maybe her new haircut played a role in this as well. Her bangs were side-swept now, and he was pretty sure that her hair was longer than before. He couldn’t tell how much longer exactly, since her hair was curly right now, but probably somewhere around shoulder-length.
Speaking of the curls, Sora found it pretty interesting how the moonlight reflected in her hair, now that it had texture. It looked a bit like the sea when the wind set it into motion, glittering as the moon’s light reflected on its waves.
“What is it?”, Kairi’s voice broke through his line of thought.
“Hm?” Sora hadn’t noticed that she was already settling down.
“You’re staring.”
“Uh…” He blushed once more, and was getting kind of relieved that she couldn’t see it in the dark. The entire situation was awkward enough. “I was just thinking… Uhm…” Sheesh, why couldn’t he just say what he meant to say…
“Yes?”, Kairi responded with a wide grin. “I’m listening, you know.”
Sora took a deep breath. This was Kairi, the caring girl whom he had known for almost his entire life. There was no reason to be scared of her – and yet, she made him so nervous…
“Give him a break, Kairi,” Riku chuckled and zipped up his sleeping bag, almost as if he wanted to emphasize his statement with the noise. “He’s already flustered enough as it is.”
Even after a year, Riku could still see right through him.
Sora swallowed as he turned back to Kairi. He could feel his cheeks heating up a little. “Your hair…” His voice came out quietly, almost like a whisper. He wasn’t even sure if she could hear it. “The curls look really pretty on you.”
That was probably the dumbest way to put it, but he didn’t know how else to say it. At least it was straightforward.
Kairi giggled, now seeming a bit nervous herself. “Thank you,” she responded. “Honestly, I like them as well. I’m glad I let Naminé convince me to do this…” She zipped her sleeping bag up and laid down as she spoke, and then turned on her side so she was facing him.
Phew. That… Actually went better than he had expected… A lot better than he had expected. Wait, was he supposed to keep the conversation going now? That… Uh… How exactly was he supposed to do that?
“So… Are you going to do this more often then?”
“I don’t know,” Kairi admitted. “It’s a good amount of work, and the heat isn’t very good for the hair either…”
“Maybe there is some kind of hair curling spell?”
“Probably,” Kairi said. “If there is magic to make an alarm go off when Ven leaves his room sleepwalking, I’m sure there is magic to curl hair as well.”
… Riku was awfully quiet, Sora suddenly realized. Was he feeling left out? Or had he fallen asleep already?
Sora turned his head to the other side, only to see Riku smirking at him. “What?”
“Oh, nothing,” Riku responded. “Nothing at all.”
“Suuure Riku,” Kairi giggled. “Come on, you can tell us.”
“I’m just glad Sora is back. That’s all.”
Somehow Sora got the feeling that this wasn’t entirely the truth… But alright. Now that he wasn’t flustered by Kairi anymore, he noticed how tired he actually was – far too tired to get into an argument with Riku. Maybe he should get some sleep. He could hardly keep his eyes open…
“Thank you. Both of you,” he whispered. “For everything.”
Riku shook his head in response. “Don’t mention it,” he said. “You’re welcome.”
Kairi smiled at him. “Well, it was the least we could do,” she said. “After everything you did for us…”
“Don’t bring this up again,” Sora murmured. What he had done for her would never reach the level of what she had done and continued to do for him. Besides… “I’ve only caused you heartbreak with what I did…”
His eyes snapped open again when he suddenly felt the warmth and softness of her hand on his left – but that wasn’t what startled him. The sensation wasn’t muted or overlayed by another one. It felt so real and clear…
For the first time since he had gotten his new body, it didn’t feel like he was wearing a glove and feeling everything else through the fabric – at least on his left hand.
He turned to her once again in surprise, and for a moment, he thought she looked a little scared. Maybe she thought that she had gone too far due to his reaction… But she hadn’t.
Sora smiled at her, and when he did, relief washed over her expression. There was that light again, the one that always seemed to be shining from within her, like she was always knowing where she was heading. Kairi was the light that always kept him going, always kept him on the right path even in his darkest hours… Or at least, the light that kept him from losing himself completely whenever he strayed from it. She was like a shining beacon to him – Sora’s light in the darkness.
“Well, you’re here now,” Riku suddenly spoke up, interrupting his line of thought.
Sora only noticed it now, but Riku had taken his other hand, and now squeezed it lightly, but reassuringly. A small wave of disappointment washed over him. Unlike the left hand Kairi was holding, the weird sensation still lingered in the right – the one Riku was holding. He almost sighed – he wanted to feel Riku’s hand too, just like he felt Kairi’s. They were both so important to him.
He squeezed back nonetheless. Riku’s lips twitched slightly as he did – he almost smiled. “That’s what really matters, right?”
“Yeah…” Sora yawned and his eyes fell closed. “It’s good to be back…”
---
Elsewhere, a hooded figure in a coat was flexing their left hand, the only part of their body that wasn’t covered in heavy black fabric. A tall man with an eyepatch stood at their side.
“So,” the companion asked after a while, “what is our next move going to be?”
“You’ll have to wait and see,” the hooded figure responded in a sing-song voice, that switched to a more serious tone as they continued. “Just be assured that now that I have a body again, things will become much, much easier.”
“That’s not what I meant.”
“Oh?”
“I am aware that our plan will become much easier from now on,” the companion elaborated. “But what exactly am I supposed to do next?”
“Ooooh!”, he hooded figure exclaimed, nodding in understanding. “Yeah, you’re supposed to… Well, actually you’re not supposed to do anything right now! Grab yourself some popcorn and enjoy the show!”
The companion sighed. “I mean, there must be something I can do…”
“Why? You already did a great job, Luxu! You deserve some time off!”
The other man – Luxu – sighed and shook his head. “With all due respect, Master, but the longer this conversation goes the more I get the feeling that there actually isn’t any plan at all…”
“Luxu, you’re truly hurting my feelings,” the so-called Master huffed, putting his hand on his chest as if he was in shock or truly insulted – only to chuckle immediately afterwards. “Why, of course there is a plan! I’m just not revealing it now! That would be no fun, would it now?”
The companion, Luxu, raised his arms and sighed in what was most likely defeat. “Whatever. I trust you know what you’re doing…”
The Master chuckled. “You know I always know what I’m doing,” he said as he slipped his black glove back on. “Especially now that I got everything I need for my grand return.”
He made a dramatic pause, before sighing theatrically.
“Seriously though, it feels so good to have a body again. You have no idea how annoying it is to walk these worlds without the ability to do anything.”
“So you’re happy with it?”
“Oh, I’m more than happy with it. I can’t wait to see their faces, you know?” He laughed as he removed his hood. Spiky brown hair poked out underneath, and when he opened his eyes they were of a very clear, bright blue. “This is going to be really interesting.”
---
Sora gasped as his eyes shot open.
He sighed in relief when he realized that he was still on the beach of the Play Islands with his friends, and no longer at the Keyblade Graveyard… Or some underground sewerage. Riku and Kairi were both slumbering peacefully next to him.
“Are you alright?”
He turned around and saw Chirithy floating in the air. A small smile found its way to his face. “I’m okay Chirithy. No need to worry about me.”
They kept staring at him though, seemingly concerned.
Sora sighed. “Aren’t you watching Ven?”
“Ven is having a quiet sleep tonight,” Chirithy replied. “But I sensed a nightmare coming from you, so I thought I might see if you are alright.”
Sora nodded. “I think I did have one,” he admitted. “Thanks Chirithy.”
They shook their head. “No problem, Sora. I hope you will sleep better now. Good night.”
“Good night, Chirithy!”
And with that, Sora went back to sleep as well.

A few months into meeting Y/N, Harry had found himself waiting for her after her rehearsals frequently. Sophia and Sicily teased the both of them incessantly, but expressed their happiness for the two of them, despite the common “We’re just friends!” response.
Sam and Paddy were probably the happiest for their friends. Harry’s twin and youngest brother had never seen the curly photographer so content like he was with Y/N. Wherever one was, the other was not far behind.
Harrison liked Y/N but was still wary of the girl. Of course, if she was friends with his girlfriend, he could only imagine that Y/N was probably a genuine person. However, because of not only his status but his best mate’s, there was still some hesitancy about her. It was understandable, but Sora and Haz had gotten into a small argument about it, Sora feeling that he inadvertently doubted her judgment.
The three that were the most apprehensive about Harry spending a lot of time with Y/N was Tom, Nadia, and Tuwaine. Nadia liked her but feared that she was just using Harry to get clout, while Tom and Tuwaine knew that it had happened before in his last relationship.
When Harry had announced to his family and friends that he was in a relationship, everyone was ecstatic for the younger twin. The woman at the time was not very well known but had been friends with his family for some time. Their relationship had lasted a little over a year, but ended messily, with Harry calling it quits after some information had come to light.
It was discovered that the woman Harry had been seeing had only been using the poor photographer for fame. Tom, who was single at the time, had been extremely confused when the woman had attempted to make moves on him while they were all out at the bar for the night.
Tom had dismissed that night as an accidental drunken mistake, but immediately took that thought back as the next morning, Harry’s girlfriend had winked at him while grabbing a cup of tea. The poor actor felt the need to inform his little brother of what had happened, and when he ended up telling him minutes later, Tom was shocked to find that Harry didn’t seem fazed.
All Harry did was nod sadly and shrug, actions that alarmed the older Brit. When Tom asked what he had meant by the smile and shrug, Harry burst into tears, something he rarely ever did. Tuwaine, who had entered to ask what the two wanted to eat for breakfast, was taken aback by his roommate’s actions.
In all the years that he had known the Hollands, not once had he ever seen Harry genuinely cry. Tuwaine, being the sweet guy that he is, walked over to where Harry was standing by the closet and gave him a tight hug.
After tight hugs from his brother and best friend, Harry explained to the two that this wasn’t the first time She Who Shall Not Be Named flirted with others. At the very beginning of their relationship, she had made unwanted advances towards Sam but had dismissed it as a joke. Harry admitted again that Harrison had told him that she even tried making advances towards him, knowing full well that he was talking to Sora.
Sora and Harry’s ex didn’t get along. Sora had thought that She Who Shall Not Be Named was a bitch, and only cared for money and a public image. Harry’s ex thought that Sora was too blunt, a know-it-all, and a dumb foreigner, which is the only remote way to describe the words she had called the American.
Two days after Tom’s confession, Harry had finally worked up the courage to break up with the woman. Long story short, there was a lot of screaming from She Who Shall Not Be Named after Harry had broken the news, and had kindly asked her to leave.
Harry was a mess, but for the first time since he had entered the relationship, he felt free. However, it had practically taken an army to ensure that Harry was genuinely ok. The first few months had been rough, mostly since all he wanted to do was drink beer, eat tub after tub of mint-chocolate-chip ice cream, and blast Little Mix’s song Shout Out to My Ex.
While Harry had healed and grew as a person, Tom and Tuwaine still lingered on the situation. They were the only ones to know that Harry had cried, and both knew that they never wanted to see that sight again. If it were Tom or Tuwaine’s way, the two wouldn’t let Harry date until he was at least fifty-years-old, but also, Harry was his own person, and he was an adult who was capable of making decisions.
Y/N had a clue of what had happened from Sora, but the latter declined to go into detail as one, it wasn’t her information to tell, and two, Sora would get so upset at the whole situation that a coherent sentence could not be formed.
One particularly bitter February day, before the twins’ birthday, Harry finally worked up the courage to tell Y/N the full details. In the past few weeks, Harry had been distant, which caused a small rift to form between the twitterpated pair.
Harry realized that he was often unhappy and the only way he knew to cure the shadows surrounding the poor man, was his fix of sunshine. Y/N had grown concerned when Harry didn’t show up after her rehearsals four consecutive days in a row.
Y/N had asked Sora who was more often than not staying with Harrison, what was going on with Harry, but even she didn’t know what was going on, and she lived with him! Y/N had even worked up the courage to ask Sam, Harrison, and even Tom if Harry was ok, but all three declined to answer.
As soon as Y/N saw Harry waiting outside, there was no hesitation in the massive hug she pulled him into. Sophia was squealing internally watching the whole scene unfold, while Sicily scoffed, partly because she was done with being single, but also because she had seen the poor girl worry over the boy who she, personally, did not think was worthy of being fretted over.
Harry, who was caught by surprise about Y/N’s actions, hesitantly hugged her back. He had honestly been acting like a dick halfway through January, until now, the beginning of February, and here his sunshine was, hugging him like nothing ever happened.
“How have you been, ghost?” Y/N teased with a warm smile.
Harry, again taken aback by her actions, immediately pulled the girl into another hug. “I am so fucking sorry for ghosting you Sunshine. I have a reason why I’ve been acting so distant, but I completely understand if you think it’s just a fucking excuse and that I’m just another fucking div playing with your heart, but I promise you that I’m just a div, and I’m not playing with you.”
Y/N chuckled and gently pulled away from Harry’s chest, but still kept her hands on his waist in a comforting way. Her warm smile was instantly replaced with a frown when she noticed the stream of tears running down Harry’s face.
“Hey, love, what’s going on? What’re you crying for? You’ve done nothing wrong?”
“But I have! I’ve been completely ghosting you for like three weeks, and I’ve barely been visiting you after rehearsals, and when I do-”
“Hey. You’re going through something right now. It’s up to you when you feel comfortable letting me know what’s going on.”
“But I-”
“Harry, I promise you, everything is ok. I’m not mad at you. Never was. I was just extremely worried about you. Although, according to my stage manager, I’ve been portraying Eliza a lot better the past few weeks. So maybe you should worry me more. I’m kidding, don’t actually do that to me again, Sophia, Aiyana, and Sicily were exhausted over my constant worrying.”
Harry laughed and pulled her into another hug. “Ya think we can go be by ourselves for a while? You deserve an explanation on why I’ve been a dick.”
Y/N smiled and nodded, taking Harry’s hand and letting him lead the way to his parked car. Harry helped the girl put her belongings inside the boot, before helping her into the passenger side of the car, and then hopping into the driver’s side.
Sophia smirked at Sicily, holding out her hand expectantly, with Sicily groaning as she pulled out a wadded twenty-pound bill. “Fuck you, Soph.” Sicily groaned again.
Harry found parking in a car garage and the pair made their way through groups of tourists, before arriving at a view of the lit-up London Eye. The two of them stared out in silence before Harry launched into his explanation.
Throughout his story, Y/N’s face progressively morphed into disgust, as she listened to the full story of She Who Shall Not Be Named. Even though the woman was no longer in Harry’s life, Y/N felt a subconscious need to beat her up.
How could someone be so cruel that you use someone for fame? Y/N couldn’t understand, and all she could do was pull Harry into a hug after tears began pricking the corners of his eyes.
“Thank you for trusting me enough for telling me why you’ve been so distant.”
Harry without any hesitance, hugged the younger woman back, pressing a kiss to the top of her head, and closed his eyes. “Thank you for not immediately getting angry at me for being a dick.”
Y/N giggled and pulled away. “C’mon, we better head back. I don’t need Tom and Sora calling the police on us because we’ve been missing for two hours.”
Harry chuckled before pressing another kiss to her head and pulling her with him back to the car.
As soon as the pair had arrived at the Holland-Osterfield-Barret-Parkes-and now probably Tanaka residence, Sora, and Y/N’s other best friend, Aiyana, immediately pulled the Broadway actress into a bone mushing hug.
“Where the fucking hell have you been?” Sora practically shrieked in Y/N’s ear.
“Sora is just overreacting, but seriously I was getting worried about you, lolo.”
Y/N chuckled before glancing at Harry who was getting hit upside the head by all of the boys. “We talked. We’re ok now.”
Sora and Aiyana shared a knowing look before pulling Y/N, and Harry inside the house to warm up. They were glad that the two had made up because even if Tom and Tuwaine didn’t want to admit it, everyone residing in the house knew that they had missed how much brighter their lives were around the girl.
About a week later, which was Valentine’s Day week, everyone was in a bustle to get everything together. Tuwaine was bringing up his courage to ask out Sicily, who finally, wasn’t introduced by Paddy, but by Sora, Paddy was shooting his shot with Aiyana who everyone knew shared the same feelings, and the two were lowkey hooking up. (They were not slick at all. Even Y/N and Harry were slicker about their secret feelings for one another...and that’s saying a ton.)
Tom, Harrison, and Elysia were both coordinating with Y/N to get tickets to her opening night, which coincidentally was Valentine’s Day (Secretly, Y/N had already gotten tickets for everyone to attend), Sam was working with Y/N on a rendition of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” for Elysia, Nadia was buying any Spider-Man related thing she could find at a reasonable price, while Sora was secretly stashing her favorite Hawaiian snacks, and items sent to her by her family back home in her shared apartment with Y/N and Aiyana.
Harry didn’t have anything extravagant planned. All he was going to do was attend Hamilton, give her a bouquet of sunflowers, and a sun necklace, earring, bracelet, and ring set he got for a good deal off of Pandora.
Y/N had taken a different route. She knew that the two weren’t ready to date, seeming as they had only met months before, and the two had both agreed that with their next relationships they had to at least have known each other a year. However, that didn’t mean Y/N wasn’t going to do something special for her beloved curly-haired photographer.
At the end of the show, Y/N was planning on singing one of his favorite songs, and afterward, hand him half of a Yin-Yang necklace she was planning on sharing with him and polaroids of the two of them.
On one of her days-off from rehearsals, Y/N, accompanied by Sora, ventured to downtown London. The Broadway actress was looking through shops, searching and scanning for the best quality Yin-Yang necklace she could find, while Sora was doing some window shopping. Y/N was also looking to find a rustic-looking photo album/scrapbook to place her polaroids in. As the best friends entered a quaint little shop selling some photo albums matching the aesthetic Y/N was going for, Sora’s eyes widened as she caught sight of the one person she never wanted to see again, and the person she never wanted Y/N to meet, standing at the register waiting for everything of hers to be wrung up; She Who Must Not Be Named, or Eira Williams, Harry’s ex-girlfriend.

round 3 of in-progress naruto thoughts, featuring me crying tears about pretty much everybody
[spoiler policy disclaimer first, as always: i’m only still in the early stages of shippuden (we just finished the asuma arc).  i literally had zero interest in naruto growing up, so i remain unspoiled for virtually everything that happens past this point.  i would love to stay that way, so please don’t interact with this (tags included, because the notifications now show them to me automatically) with any spoilery commentary, including even general things like “oh i love this show but it gets less good after X point” or “X season is better than Y season” or any general assessments of quality/likability/etc re: future seasons.  Thank you! <3 ]
- well, folks.  i have apparently reached the point in my viewing experience where i am deeply emotionally attached to virtually all of the characters and i care when bad stuff happens to even the most minor of them, because the asuma arc really ripped my heart out and used my feelings as ping-pong balls
- that said - i have to admit, if you’re going to kill a character, that was the way to handle it.  it wasn’t glossed over or dropped like a hot potato; it had a huge arc attached to it and major development for the other characters involved and it came full circle at the end in such a quiet, complete way.  i was hoping from the very beginning that the answer to “who’s the king” was going to be “children” (all i could think about was asuma yelling at kazuma “children aren’t pawns to protect the king!” during the sora arc) and ultimately that ended up being true, and i found that so satisfying.  (painful.  but satisfying.)
- SHIKAMARU.  HERO.  i always loved him, but what an incredible arc he had.  and that episode, “team 10″ - WOW.  wow.  they really kicked it up a notch for that one - that was legitimately beautiful television, not just “good by naruto standards.”  gorgeous animation/composition/editing...this show is in fact capable of magic, when it takes its time.
- grow up, you three.  the shadow of death hangs over us all.  some deaths may be harder to accept than others, but if you can’t get past that, there can be no future!
^^ this is legitimately my favorite line of the series.  i can’t stop thinking about it.  i love how tsunade is speaking from her own experience, and how she’s not wrong - nobody in this confrontation is wrong, really; shikamaru has his stuff more together than tsunade realizes, and tsunade is just telling the truth, and i just love how this entire line relates so closely to the thematic heart of this arc, which is the sanctity of children and the future they represent.  like...so many characters in this show have seen so much death and tragedy, but we see children/the promise of the future pulling people out of that hole and back into a hopeful place.  it’s literally tsunade’s whole story with naruto.  she’s speaking from the heart, and it’s one of those lines that you can feel resonate across the whole story.
- kakashi, once again, coming to destroy me with his level of devotion to the kids.  not even his own kids, this time.  when he shows up at the end of “team 10″ and offers to take over for asuma and go with shikamaru’s group - i lost my mind.  he’s been keeping an eye on those kids the whole time.  nobody told him about what they were doing; he has no reason to be out at the gates at that time of night - he’s been keeping tabs on them.  he knows exactly what they’re going through.  he knows how they must feel.  he wants to make sure they’re okay.  and when he sees that they’re in an appropriate frame of mind for what they’re planning (aka, not unbalanced by rage or grief or the desire for revenge), he immediately offers himself up as an adult support figure.  he inserts himself into that situation and assumes responsibility for making sure nobody gets hurt.  he puts himself into a position where he can escort them through this experience safely (in more ways than one).  he lets shikamaru take the lead and achieve closure, all while simultaneously monitoring the situation to make sure every choice the group makes is the safest, smartest thing to do.  and then in the battle, he puts himself in between the kids and certain death over and over again - he saves their lives so many times.
the kids are so grateful to him for doing that.  they respect him so much for it.  they feel supported.  they feel looked after.  they feel validated.  three kids who just lost their adult mentor in such a sudden, violent way - for them to have another grown-up step in and temporarily assume that role, for them to feel a pair of capable, steady hands propping them up before they fall down - that is so important!
kakashi is beautiful to me because he takes every horrible thing that ever happened to him and turns it into an unwavering commitment to help other people navigate the same rocky waters.  everything he does is designed to catch people when they fall, particularly when it comes to children.  he doesn’t have to take that kind of interest in asuma’s team.  none of the other adults are monitoring them like that.  but he understands what they’re dealing with and he knows they could hurt themselves if somebody doesn’t take care of them and so he steps in and assumes that responsibility himself.  and then he does the same thing with team 8′s kids, too, in the next arc, when kurenai is out of commission.  he takes all of his own painful experiences and turns them into ways he can protect other people from stumbling into the same pits he fell into, and i’ll tell you this for damn sure - he’d rather take a deadly hit himself than allow another cohort of children to be wiped off the face of the earth before their time.
i love that about him.  i love that he turns all of the trouble he’s seen into ways he can be a source of strength for others.  i love that he is always thinking about the kids.  that’s the whole point of this arc: children are king.  kakashi knows that just as well as asuma did, and the way he consistently throws himself in front of the children to keep them safe is my favorite thing about him.
- fucking LOVE that shikamaru turns down the feudal lord’s offer because he wants to stay in the village in case his friends need him.  i feel like this kind of choice is never portrayed as a good thing in media - it’s always shown to be better to get yourself out there, try something new, leave old things behind, take a risk, make a change, as if staying home is somehow the same thing as settling or wasting your potential.  i love how asuma lifts up shikamaru’s decision to stay rooted in his home as a worthy and admirable thing.  the will of fire, indeed.
- the EMOTIONS i felt every time kakashi was helping naruto figure out how to complete the rasengan....when kakashi tells him “i truly believe you are the only shinobi who can surpass the fourth hokage” and then while walking away yamato’s all “you sweet-talked him” and kakashi immediately sets him straight like “no.  no.  i believe he can do it.”  SOBBING.
- “good old asuma.  he must’ve known you inside and out, huh?”  i’ll be over here crying in the club, folks
- kakashi having conversations with sasuke in his head was Too Much for me ;__;
- we watched a bit past the asuma arc and are now into the part about the gemstone lady but the only thing i have to say about this new arc so far is about jiraiya and honestly i’m going to have to gif it to do it justice.  that scene with him and naruto where naruto falls asleep on him just...struck me down where i sat.  i was actually about ready to cry for real.  my feelings couldn’t take it.  i used to not really care too much about jiraiya in the shonen jump days (and yes, there’s some stupid stuff with him that you have to just look past if you’re going to enjoy things) but i love him so much now and i am finding myself so moved by the way he is rejoining the village and (re)building his connections with the people there, and how much meaning has been brought back into his life by the opportunity to work with naruto in particular, and how like...i mean, this is just my own impression, because i haven’t seen his full backstory yet, but he strikes me as someone who’s been running away for a long time, who had very little hope for the future, someone who experienced some terrible things and gave up, just like tsunade, until he runs into naruto.  and now things have changed for him, and it warms my heart to see it.  i love watching him take naruto on training field trips, and i love the depth of care we see from him towards naruto now - a far cry from the “i don’t like kids” of early shonen jump.  i love seeing him collaborate with kakashi - tag-teaming their teaching and climbing in through the window to check on him in the hospital and teasing him about how silly he looks with a sheet over his nose.  i’ve just become so touched by his progression and by the way the establishment of these relationships with “his” kids and the village as a whole (bonds, connections, all the things that this show can’t shut up about) has almost been a...healing sort of thing for him and has changed his entire outlook on life and given him a new sense of hope/meaning.
like.  i can’t believe i am out here having jiraiya emotions after how little i cared about him when i first met him, but...here i am.

113 Takari with extra points if you somehow enjoy Taichi 👀
I loved writing this haha found it funny, so I hope it is fun to read too.
I prefer blonds
..and the boy whose hair remained the color of lemons forever
-Marcus Zusack-
Taichi was in a very bad mood. In fact, “bad mood” was probably a big understatement. It all had begun with a conversation he had overheard in the changing rooms after his soccer training. Some of the older members of the team were fooling around the showers and after the usual laugh and playful teases, the conversation had turned to a less innocent one. It was a subject that Taichi always chose to avoid and usually, he was long gone before they reached that point; but today he had forgotten his phone in the locker and he had to return to grab it, catching his fellow team member in the middle of a heated conversation about girls.
Taichi had not realized how popular the girls that surrounded him really were until now. He had heard comments about Sora among the boys in their class, but then again, Sora was strong enough to shut them off if necessary; Mimi, well she was another story. The girl was feasty and that was enough to catch any boy’s attention, but like Sora, Mimi knew when to kick away any unwelcome attention. He never really had to worry about their well being when it came to members from his own sex; but today’s conversation had sent him into a pure ball of fire, perhaps even more heated than agumon’s baby flame.
His sister! His cute and sweet baby sister was currently the subject of the conversation; and he wouldn’t have minded it if the tone of comments hadn't been so...intense. After all who was Hikari’s number fanboy, if not her own brother?
“Oiii...niii-san. Hey, nii-saaan!”
Taichi was brought out from his angry thoughts by his little sister’s call. He had been waiting at the school  gate, moping around and pretty much intimidating every boy that walked out from the middle school with his intense glare.
“Taichi-san…” Takeru, who had walked out with Hikari, greeted him, and Taichi simply gave him a wave as response “Well, then I will see you tomorrow. Be careful on your way back home.”
“Uh, same you.”
“Yeah, I’ll text you later.”
Takeru gave the two Yagami siblings a wave as good bye and walked off to the opposite direction of the street.  Taichi barely acknowledged his departure as his mind was still replaying the words from the shower conversation and computing some ridiculous ways he could make those boys pay to actually be aware of what happened around him.
“O...NI...SAN…” Hikari said firmly and her words came accompanied by a soft slap on the back of his head “What’s wrong with you? Did you argue with Yamato-san again?”
“What?” he said, confused. What did Yamato have to do with anything?
“You’re sulking…” Hikari chuckled “I’ve only seen you do that whenever to fight with him or when you make Sora-san angry with one of your unwise occurrences.”
“I didn’t do anything…” Taichi replied a little offended.
“Right, right…” Hikari smiled sheepishly “Let’s go home, before someone calls a teacher to tell them that a dubious boy is looking at the students as if he wanted to scorch them alive.”
Taichi sighed. He let Hikari sit at the back of his bike and after making sure she was all set began to ride down the way back to their house. It was a nice spring afternoon, and if not by his current mood, the ride back home would have been really enjoyable with the flower petals and the sweet scent of cherry blossoms.
“Hey...for real though, what happened to you?”
“Nothing. I just had an unwanted epiphany today.” Taichi replied.
That was quite an accurate statement; after all, today he had reached the realization that his little baby sister was no longer a cute child, but rather a cute, very cute,  teenager that was starting to shine in the eyes of other boys. Since she had been a child before, he hadn’t had to worry about boys chasing her around, but now that she’d grown up, it was something that he needed to consider carefully.
“Oh, that is rare of you. What did you figure out? That chicken ramen is better than pork?” Hikari asked teasingly.
“What?”
Hikari laughed. She hadn’t meant to tease her brother, but seeing Taichi so serious was a strange thing and she couldn’t help it.
“Ok, sorry. I didn’t mean to tease you…” she said “For  real, though. What is it? Is it something I can help you with?”
“No…”
Yes, he thought ,  stay away from boys for the rest of your life, especially those idiots from my soccer team.
“Hikari…” he began “ Don’t come to my soccer practices again, ok?”
“Eh? Why the sudden request?”
“I have my reasons?”
“And those are…?”
Taichi let out an annoyed growl.
“The members of my team seem to have taken a fixation on you.”
“Come again?” Hikari said with surprised eyes “Me?”
“No, Tailmon...of course you, silly.” Taichi said impatiently “I don’t want that bunch of idiotic sacks of hormones trying to make a move on you. So stay away from my practices…”
“It’s just a temporary thing. They will get over it…”
“Nah!I’m taking no chances. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that I can’t stop you from eventually dating...” Taichi said, grimacing at the last part “but if you’re going to date someone, it has to be someone I approve. Someone that actually deserves to date you.”
“And how exactly are you planning to decide that?” Hikari laughed, amused by her brother’s conviction.
“For starters...he has to be a gentleman. He has to know how to take care of you. He has to get along with me, that is important; preferably not a smartass, because those can be really annoying. Also it would be cool if he could keep you safe, you know protect when I’m not around to do so...and…”
“What are you planning? Hook me up with Koushiro or something?”
“Nah, I thought of that, but he’s into Mimi, and that would be insensible.”
“Now I am surprised you actually noticed that.”
“Hey, I’m not that dense. I know those two are into something, but we are not talking about them now. My point is...the guys in the soccer team? NO…”
“You don’t have much faith in your boys, huh?”
“How can I have it when I know them and how their little brains work.” Taichi said angrily. The memories of the stupid conversation earlier, feeding up his anger again.
They took a turn on the corner and reached the front of their apartment building. Hikarin hopped off from his bike playfully. She turned to her brother and tilted her head with a wolfish smile.
“Don’t worry. They have no chance…” she said “I prefer them blonde….”
Before Taichi could actually react to what his little sister had just said, Hikari spun on her heels and rushed into the apartment building laughing.  The older Yagami stood there dumbfounded, with his bike in his hands and still processing what his little sister’s words, and then the flame of anger began to burn again in his chest.
“God damn it, Yamato. I’m so gonna kill you.”
==========================================================
Taichi is too dense to see she’s refering to Takeru and not Yamato XD
Also since my drabble was pretty short compared to the other one. Here’s a overprotective Taichi.
