#okay i’m gonna try to keep this short and sweet. 30 tag maximum you are my nemesis lol#my main issue here is not necessarily that the karaoke and other bach party scenes have likely been cut#it’s more that they’re clearly buddie baiting for engagement#journalists were watching the episode as early as saturday. which means the ep was ready by at least this time last week#so they knew that the scenes had been cut. and they chose to continue including it in promotion and interviews#i KNOW that logically the reason they chose those scenes to cut was because they’re less important. and we’d already seen them#they technically already gave us the clips in the promo videos. right? so bye bye#but that’s bullshit. sorry#they used buddie best friendism content as a way to promote the ep and increase hype#and then they just pull it out from under us the day before it airs#this is a madney episode. madney are getting married. buddie having fun is not the most important thing here. i get it#so why did they not promote something else? you’re telling me there was NOTHING ELSE they could’ve used?#nothing else from the episode that was free of big spoilers? at all???#it’s madney’s episode but they chose to promote one clip of buddie talking to maddie. one of chim crawling. and the bach party stuff#they must know that people would focus on the bach party. buddie is beloved buck and eddie are beloved#what were they expecting??#they used buddie as a pairing as bait. not queer bait and not even ship bait i suppose as there was nothing ‘shippy’ shown#but they baited buddie content. that’s literally what’s happened#i would be more understanding if this wasn’t a regular occurrence. it’s normal sure. shows do this all the time with fan faves#but also it is a false reflection of the episode. even journalists are saying the episode is not what they expected from the promo#it honestly feels like they’ve made fools of us. maybe the episode will air and it’ll be better than expected#but i don’t have much hope not much hope for buddie. not much hope for madney getting what they deserve. ZERO hope for eddie’s 7b storyline#frankly i’m expecting b/t to be the main chat after this ep. which is……. anyway#i’m not really liking s7 so far and i feel gaslit when people say it’s great lol#IN MY OPINION it is choppy and too fast and a little ooc and doesn’t make a lot of sense#they didn’t even green light bi!buck until episode. what. 2/3??#so presumably had to change everything from then on#i know that’s partly down to limited episode numbers but… 3 eps for the cruise (unnecessary) but 1 for madney wedding? ok#sigh. if anyone’s read this far pls don’t come for me ok. these are just my opinions#we’re all entitled to them. i’m sad for madney and i’m sad for buddie best friendism and i’m sad for s7 as a whole right now

what's interesting is that 911 has always been an abnormal fan experience in the sense that every main character is endgame paired up almost immediately: bobby and athena go on a date and the end of season 1; by Season 2 they are married. buck and eddie meet in season 2, by Season 4/5, they were supposed to be a Thing. hen/karen were married before the show even aired, Maddie and Chimney meet in season 2. by the end of Season 3, they're pregnant and... in some way it makes me wonder how much borrowed time 9-1-1 was living on at FOX. or, for how long were they aware that they were living on borrowed time, i should say. because the speedrun through pairing their couples up is similar to Netflix's pacing schedule in the sense that Netflix showrunners rarely know if/how their shows are going to survive, so there's a sense of urgency there to tie everything up with a nice bow Just In Case. But it's also like... this fandom has never truly experienced fandom problems. sure we've had racism, infighting, whatever. But we have never truly experienced what it means to be a fan of a procedural. And if you're young, and 9-1-1 is your first major fandom period, you've never experienced it at all. And I'm just thinking about people's response to BuckTommy, thinking about people, like, "okay so buck and eddie have to have a feelings reveal by the end of S7 because it's time!" and it's just like... Well. No. You've just been spoiled by the weight of the executioner's axe against our necks. But that axe is gone now and, for all intents and purposes, 9-11 is a brand new show. Which means... we are about to formally introduced to what it looks like when a show is allowed to slow down its pace and breathe and have Fandom Problems (and yes that includes ship wars. gasp!), and to be frankly honest, I don't think any of you are ready for that.

I'm barely hanging by a thread with this show.
The amount of PR that Oliver has done about Bucks storyline and Buddie has been overkill. To the point, where of Buddie doesn't happen after talking about it so much that headlines and clickbait have been created, they're going to look like they've just been shipbaiting to pull in the viewers!
Tommy and the homophobe/transphobe need to go. Lou's weird "thriving" video gives me the impression they're deffo not thriving! And the other one needs to go for obvious fucking reasons!
The whole Bi storyline would've been better coming from Eddie. They could've had Buck single and Eddie discovering himself like it was originally going to be. It would've been so much more interesting to watch!
But I do think the fact that the season only has 10 episodes has put a damper on things, too!
oh i agree with everything!!! it's definitely giving shipbait (for now) i feel like Oliver is saying unhinged Buddie stuff because, in his prospective, they can't really call him out for queerbaiting anymore, since Buck is canon bi now. But I really hope I'm wrong and that he actually knows that Buddie is endgame or something!
I'm still conflicted about Lou video to be honest, I'd rather if he wasn't there at all lmao but if he's there just to make things awkward and they are really NOT thriving then i Could be ok with it. for the Edy situation... idk how she even got in s7 to begin with, i know it's because Natalia actress wasn't available and Tim didn't want both of them to start off as single but they could have just went with a replacement and no one would have noticed 💀 big hope is that she will be bones before the season finale tho! No one likes her and the foreshadowing about them breaking up has been crazy (never date someone you met on a call, bobby convo etc)
Anon you have no idea I've been terrorizing my bestie about EddieTommy for WEEKS i still wouldn't like Tommy as a character but it would have made so much more sense and it would have been way more groundbreaking than BuckTommy! if episode 100 have zero haters I'm dead I REALLY HATE the whole execution and how they switched characters and keep making Buck and Eddie interchangeable cuz that will never be right and it will never sit well with me for various reasons (racism is the racism). And I've been wanting Buck to be single for the longest time let the man be alone and get to know himself for the love of God!
This season worst problem is that they are writing it as they go and they are really rushing things and you can really tell that they have no idea where the plot is going and the season being only 10 episodes make it so much worse :( hope season 8 will save us from this hell but if the last 5 episodes of the season don't get any better idk if i will survive to watch season 8 they are really making it hard for me and I've been watching the show since 2019!
Also i want to thank you for sending me your thoughts! I got so excited when i saw an ask in my inbox 🥰 this is a safe space for hating! I'm a yapper and a hater!!

so i posted a couple days ago about some buddie predictions for s7 but my thoughts have changed so here's my final answer before s7 airs.
I don't think we're going to get buddie together this season. HOWEVER, i do think there will be some seeds planted. based on the way Oliver and Ryan are talking about their characters and their self-discovery it seems like there might be some sexuality/romance self-discovery, at least for Buck, maybe for Eddie. but the way they're talking also feels like they don't want fans to get over excited, if only so we don't get disappointed. Oliver saying "I know how that's going to be taken", and Ryan's comments about men just being vulnerable with friends make me think that there isn't going to be much romance between them this season. also the fact that they're moving to a new network means they get new creative freedoms, but also means that they have to reintroduce these characters, which means going back to their (the characters') roots a bit, and spending some time just establishing who these people are to a new audience. combine that with the fact that this season is only 10 episodes (3 of which are about the cruise ship), and this is an ensemble show, I don't think they're going to have two major characters completely change their ideas of themselves, and get involved together.
that being said, TM also promised buddie dynamics in each episode, starting off with Buck and Eddie trying to help Chris with dating. and of course we have the madney wedding (and suspiciously burnt/ripped/missing clothes) so romance is in the air.
So here's where I'm at tumblr: I think that this season Buck will have some sort of sexual/romantic awakening, be it a bi awakening or an Eddie awakening. I don't think we're going to get much on Eddie's side, or if we do it will be much less blatant. between the two of them, Buck is the one who always wears his heart on his sleeve and is constantly open about his life, while Eddie is more quiet and closed-off, and this tends to reflect in their writing. I think the beginning and middle of the season will reintroduce them as best friends, maybe with a little something more in the background, but not too much to be undeniable. then, the last couple episodes will possibly (hopefully) lay on a bit more subtext so that the last episode ends with 1. a kiss/confession/date bathena style where the first few months of their relationship happens between seasons, or 2. enough to imply that their romance will be at the forefront of their arcs/relationship next season
(personally, I'm hoping for the second one because even though we might have to wait longer for confirmation, we'll get more of the beginnings of their relationship)
Edit: So I wrote this before "I love you to the core" dropped and now I'm leaning a bit more towards buddie becoming canon this season, but in the sense that they are coming to terms with their feelings for each other, not necessarily getting together. I don't think there needs to be a period of dating men to try it out for either of them, but I do think that best friends to crushes to boyfriends is a bit too fast for a 10-episode season of an ensemble show

oooooooooh both the proposal snippet and the s7 fight snippet look SO freaking good. i know they’re probably both gonna break my heart a little bit, but you just do it so well that i can’t even be upset about it. what a gift for my day today. can’t wait to read the rest!!!
Hehehe. Here’s Buck drowning
“Alright,” Buck calls, voice getting hoarse from yelling to be heard over the roar of the water. “Let’s h-“
Something heavy slams directly into the center of his chest, knocking the air out of his lungs and any hope of finishing the sentence with it. He’s submerged immediately, and the impact was strong enough to make him lose his grip on the rope stretched across the river. Even with no air and who knows how far underwater he doesn’t panic, because he has the secondary line tethering him to the guide rope, he just has to wait for it to snap tight and follow it back to the surface.
The tug does not come.
He’s tumbling, no way of knowing which way is up, current too strong to fight against in any direction anyway. The only location marker he has is when everything gets dark. He must have reached the tunnel entrance already. He lashes out, trying to find the edge of it. Not that that would really help, he still wouldn’t be able to pull himself back out the entrance. Fuck. Panic starts to creep in. 40 yards. On a good day, with a lungful of air, he could do it easy. But he’s already half exhausted from the rescue and he certainly doesn’t have full lungs. Fuck. Fuck. Eddie was a foot away, Buck can’t believe this is happening again, he wants to scream but that would waste what little oxygen he has. He might be crying but there’s no way to tell in the dirty floodwater of the LA river. He doesn’t want to go like this, he doesn’t want Eddie to have seen it, to live the rest of his life guilty. His chest is starting to burn. He doesn’t want to go at all, he doesn’t want to die, not when he hasn’t made Eddie laugh again yet, it’s not fair, he just needs a little more time, they’ll be okay if they just have a little more time, fuck they’ll be so good together, he can’t die now, and he’s getting dizzy but he can’t die now, because he hasn’t told Eddie how beautiful his cheeks are and how nice his laugh is and how his sleepy face in the morning makes Buck want to cry because it’s too soft and vulnerable to be seen by anybody but he trusts Buck with it anyway and Buck just wants him to be safe forever and he’s seeing black spots now and he can’t really feel the cold bite of the water anymore and he needs to remind Eddie about signing the permission slip paper he forgot about in the glove compartment of the truck and he needs to- he needs to- come on Buckley you talk too much even in your head, are you really going to die in the middle of a
Pressure, on his chest, and then his face.
Again.
And again, and then his chest is spasming and gently frantic hands are turning him on his side as he vomits up water. Coughs up? He’s not sure if he’s expelling liquid form his lungs or his gut, it all burns either way. As he chokes on bile and gasps in oxygen in alternating turns other senses start to come back online. He’s fucking freezing, his chest hurts most but there other aches and pains all over his body. He’s soaked to the bone, obviously. And there’s a warmth, a weight above him, noisy exhales. Eddie. Bent over him like his body is a shield, making sounds that might be sobs even if they sound like relief. Buck’s body is clumsy, muscles not quite listening to him, but he scrambles a hand up best he can to tangle it in Eddie’s water rescue gear as he keeps coughing. There’s a pressure- Eddie’s hand, on the back of his skull, just holding on. Then more sounds, voices.
“-hear me?” Hen, somewhere nearby. “Buck, can you-“
“Yeah,” Buck gets out, though it sounds mostly like a groan. Eddie gasps, and there’s light as he sits up and Buck is no longer cradled beneath him. Buck’s fingers are still hooked on the fabric of Eddie’s suit so his arm follows him up, turning his body skywards with the motion. He blinks a few times, trying to clear the images going from his eyeballs to his brain. Then he wishes things were a little blurrier again because the full force of Eddie’s distraught face has always been awful to behold. “E-Eds-“
Eddie is moving, grabbing a flashlight and waving it across Buck’s eyes. He tries not to flinch at how bright it is. “Pupils equal and- and-“ Eddie’s face crumples and rebuilds itself in the span of a second, and he clears his throat. “Pupils equal and reactive. “Do you know what day it is? Where you are?”
“W- Wednesday.” His words are still a little slurred and he sounds like he’s been eating gravel. He takes a breath as he glances around. Mud, dirt, scrub, concrete. When he tilts his head back he can see the bridge with the tunnel a little ways away. Fuck. “River. We were… doing a rescue.”
Crumple, rebuild. Eddie looks away from his face and over his body, hands following the trail of his eyes. “Are you hurt?”
Buck takes inventory as best as he can. Chest fucking hurts but he doesn’t think anything is broken. He wonders what hit him. He wiggles his fingers and toes, all good there. He’s cold. His head hurts but he doesn’t think it's because he hit it on anything. “M’alright.” He curls a little, trying to sit up.
“Careful, hey, easy.” Chimney. Is everybody here? Chim and Hen on either side of him help get him upright, Eddie kneeling in front of him with his mouth set in a crooked line. “Jesus, Buckaroo, only your luck…”
“What’appened?” He keeps looking at Eddie, and when they make eye contact Eddie crumples again, and it takes longer to put up scaffolding this time. Buck wants to reach out to him but exhaustion has slammed into his limbs like a train. Or a large piece of debris floating in a river, he supposes.
“Something hit you, broke your line,” Hen says, quiet and concerned. “You were gone so quick-“
Eddie makes a desperate little sound, face shattering entirely, and then his hands are on either side of Buck’s face and he’s being kissed. It only lasts a second or two, though Buck feels Chim’s hand around his arm tighten in surprise, and then Eddie sits back on his heels and pats his gear like he’s looking for something, a transparent attempt to pretend that didn’t happen. “Sorry.”
“Eddie,” Buck rasps, ignoring the eye contact he’s sure Hen and Chim are making over his head.
Eddie shakes his head, once, and then harder a second time. “I’m sorry,” he gets out, voice tight, a hand half reaching for Buck but stopping midair.
“Baby,” Buck says quietly, reaching out to close the distance, “I’m okay.”

Gonna be the first (maybe) to say it, but if nothing comes of Buddie at all by the s7 finale, I am going to have a hard time believing any future storyline set up the show does.
To be clear, I do not think Buddie has to be canon for it finally be addressed, because I acknowledge what happened in seasons 2-6 kind of exist in a different world. It was a different network and majority of it was written with the *potential intent to have Buck be queer only to have that shot down, whereas now on their new network, Buck is canonically bi. So I am aware that the powers that be have changed, and with that, what the writers are able to do will differ.
However, I still think something should be said or done to tie those loose ends up. I still think Buddie is an unanswered entity in the 911 universe, and not putting it to rest is sour writing. Because if Tim didn’t want to touch on it, he would have said as much with 7x04. He would have crafted an episode that was definitively abut Buck wanting to be around Tommy, instead of it being ambiguous and coming across as him being jealous of Eddie choosing someone else.
And I know people who ship Buck and Tommy will say Buck said in the episode he was trying to get Tommy’s attention, but it is established in that very same moment Buck is only “guessing” Tommy is who he wanted attention from. He does not state it affirmatively, and in fact only says he guesses, after Tommy asks for clarification, because he too was surprised Buck’s actions were for him.
Now, this is not me saying Tim and the writers weren’t still intentionally aiming for Tommy, but if so, what they wrote does not make sense. So unless we’re meant to take that episode as being poorly written/constructed… I need them to go ahead and clarify things. Because how I would have crafted the episode if I knew I was aiming for Tommy not Eddie, is by:
Having a scene where Buck calls Tommy for the tour. — That establishes Buck seeking Tommy out on screen, and doesn’t leave viewers wondering how it happened.
Had Buck and Tommy run into each other so Buck could 1) ask him how the fight went, 2) have Tommy invite Buck to the basketball game, with him saying yes. — 1) would be giving them another chance to talk without Eddie, but for Tommy to sort of “gush” about how cool Eddie is and etc, solidifying the foundation of Buck’s jealousy out of fear he was being replaced. 2) would eliminate the need for Buck to peacock for Eddie in the gym, and could instead be replaced with him bragging that Tommy invited him along too, while Eddie is confused as to why Buck is excited since he doesn’t like basketball.
Shown Eddie and Tommy after the basketball game, in which Eddie expresses concern over Buck acting weird and hurting him. — It would have allowed viewers a chance to see Tommy connect the dots, then decide to go talk to Buck.
Lastly, I would have scrapped Tommy’s confusion entirely, replacing it with: “Trying to get your attention has been kind of exhausting.” — “Is that why you maimed your best friend?” — “I guess so.” — “Hmm, that’s not really my thing. I prefer talking.” “Yeah, my sister says there are better ways to get someone atten— *kiss happens*
So then, not only would that be blatant and intentional flirting from Tommy, but we’d also have known he had an idea about why Buck was acting out, and the kiss would have been less of a shock-shock (not that it truly was) for the audience and more us realizing Tommy sussed Buck out and took a chance on kissing him.
And that’s that. That is how the episode could have been definitively about Buck wanting Tommy’s attention, without changing anything major. Mind you, I’m not a showrunner nor professional writer, so I’m not going to act as if I know better than Tim.
What I will say, is I’m also not stupid and don’t see why they’d toe the line if they did not want people thinking Buck might be jealous and wanting of Eddie’s attention. Because there are only two answers, really. The first being, Tim didn’t know what the outcome would be the entire time he was writing it and couldn’t commit until he had an answer from Lou/ABC about the kiss. Or the other, Tim is actively teasing Buddie with no plans to make them canon. The latter would be fucked up, but not uncommon for television.
Either way, I said what I said. If all of this Buddie talk and intentional teasing within this season alone does not result in Buck and Eddie having a conversation about how they feel for each other, even if they do not date, there is no reason for me to believe any other storylines are being written with intent. Because there’s also only two ways this can go. Buddie is acknowledged and is shut down (a fair choice if that’s not the story Tim wants to tell) or Tim can act like he never dropped hints and that Buddie shippers were sadly looking to close despite what was said in 7x04, again, even though the episode plays both sides.
If he chooses the latter, that means he simply has lost his ability to craft interesting stories. And while I’ll still watch the show, because I genuinely love every character, it won’t matter to me what is being built up, because he could just as easily decide I as a viewer was looking too hard and only have myself to blame for misunderstanding what was written. That’s not a fun way to enjoy a show. Feeling like nothing matters when it feels like it should, just because the writers and show runner want to be chaotic or “subvert expectations”.
It’s why The Magicians went downhill fast after Quentin died. All that build up between he and Eliot for 3 seasons, followed by a 4th season of Quentin letting himself be tormented in attempt to save Eliot from being trapped inside the mind of a monstrous, magical killing machine, just to kill Q off before Eliot returned. Before either of them got to reconcile their love for each other and experience any sort of happiness together going forward.
I’m not saying 911 would ever be so dramatic, but am using it as an example of how to piss your audience off (not that Buddie shippers make up the majority of the audience) for no reason. It’s a great example of how crafting a story just to end it abruptly, then claim it as some profound and deep choice viewers just don’t understand about storytelling, is weak. It’ll be a poor excuse, and lead to me, at least, deciding to not actively care about how any storyline is crafted. I’m sure the show will continue to entertain me, again, I do love it, but the story building of each season won’t be my concern. I’ll watch whatever they show and take it as is, no expectations or theories, because what would be the point?
..
The (*) is because it is unclear to me whether or not any of this plan was actually written and shown on air, so people who say s4 was definitely leading to Buddie happening… I must disagree. Unless something else was said to confirm such, I can only go off of how I know episodes are usually pitched. Which is during meetings and stuff, either before or as they’re written. So Tim (or whoever) might have pitched the idea to FOX to have Buck be queer in s4, but that doesn’t mean they ended up airing the build up at all. What we’ve seen from s4 could very well be the consultation prize of sorts. Giving Buddie bigger emotional moments since Buck being queer was already shut down. That doesn’t mean Eddie was also planned to be queer back then or that Buddie was going to happen. Buck could have easily been dealing with unrequited feelings.

Yeah I'm still confused about Tommy's involvement in this storyline. (Also it doesn't help that I don't vibe with his character at all) Yes it started the Bi Buck story, but at the same time the whole relationship (if we can call it relationship yet) as been super rush. It just feels like they are trying to shove so many elements at the same time which doesn't give people time to see a connection developing.
Also I think what doesn't help me is that all the interview/cameo have been confusing me. It seems like Lou is there for an arc, but I have seen people saying that since the official Instagram follow him and that Oliver seem interested to continue to have Tommy there, he will be there for the whole season. (That interview where he could stay as a friend) Also saying that Tim was still writing that last 3 episode that it could change. I mean I'm pretty sure Tim as a vague ideas of where the major point of is story will go. If he does change it last second to include more Tommy then that will be pissed me off especially knowing that he was brought for an Eddie storyline in the beginning.
I hope he's gone soon. I was hoping episode 6, but it could be episode 7. This is a short season and I don't want them to to spend to much time on side character.
i don't know what to think anymore, but I think what doesn't help is how some part of the fandom try to make you feel guilty that you can't accept this new ship. I have been on a blocking spree and it feels great, but it hasn't be easy.
Sorry that was long, but just wanted to vent a bit and tell you I like some of your takes.
Exactly! Everything between Buck and Tommy is rushed and doesn't feel organic at all. It's a frustrating storyline for so many of us, because it just doesn't deliver on the romance. It's boring and dull and kinda just falls flat.
That's why I've got the strong suspicion that Tommy is only there to serve the narrative of Buck coming out as bisexual. He is a plot device to uncover this hidden side of Buck, but it doesn't make any kind of sense in the long run. 911 has been telling the Buck and Eddie story for so many seasons now. It feels organic and natural. There is a build-up and so much history between them. So why not use Eddie to give Buck his bisexual oh-moment? Simple, Buck needed to realise he was bisexual first. That way they can write a slow realisation of feelings for Eddie. Feelings that have always been there. Also, Eddie is still with Marisol at the moment. Any feelings reveal at this point would be so messy. This ship deserves better than this.
As for those interviews and cameos. Oliver always seems to rehash the same things: vague Tommy references and how he wants them to stay friends afterwards (which doesn't bode well for their romance), the kiss felt the same as a kiss with a woman, he is so damn proud to be able to play a bisexual man (GO Oliver! I love him for that!), if Buddie were to go romantic he would be open for it. He never really interacts with Lou directly or shares a lot of Tommy or bucktommy pictures. He just vibes with the fact that he is proud to play a bisexual character. Which... good for him!
As for Lou? He is all over the place. I like the guy, but he is very chaotic. But overall he has been pretty clear that he's only there for a little while. He is also still involved in other shows, so he won't have time to fully commit to 911 anyway. Next to that, even he has mentioned Buddie in his interviews and cameos. I mean... the fact that it was also pitched for him to be with Eddie? Yeah, Tommy is a plot device alright. It is always possible that Tim will try to milk Lou's popularity by extending his stay for a couple of more episodes, but overall I'm not too worried about his staying too long.
I know Tim is still writing some episodes of S7, but the main storylines are already set in stone by now. It's only the details and how to get from point A to B that still have to be worked out. I'd like to think that they wouldn't just change main storylines at the drop of a hat like that. Tim isn't always truthful when it comes to his comments on 911.
Okay, this is for everyone who needs to hear it:
Don't feel guilty for not vibing with a character or a ship!
Don't listen to haters who try to make you feel guilty about it. But also don't go out there to make other people feel guilty about shipping bucktommy. We all like what we like. All you can do is block haters and filter out the tags you don't want to see. Also, surround yourself with people who think alike. Trust me, there's a lot of us out there.
Lastly, I decidedly don't vibe with Tommy or bucktommy. I don't see any chemistry between them. But I also need to accept that this is where the storyline is right now. We have no other choice then to follow the narrative and hope it leads to something more interesting, like Buddie. We'll just have to wait and see and hope that the show is smart enough to follow the chemistry between Buck and Eddie, and not let themselves be swayed by the superficial and temporary popularity of one guest character.
Don't worry about venting here. I don't mind. These are trying times in the Buddie-fandom and we all need to let it out once in a while.

I’ve been trying to pinpoint why I love Buck so much, and I think I’ve got it figured out now.
I have a thing for complex characters- I’m sure most people do. There’s something really appealing about learning a character with negative character traits has reasons and a backstory, and it’s even more appealing when they have character growth.
Buck is a complex character. He has very real flaws and insecurities. He is also insanely strong and still manages to be good-humored and relatively optimistic despite all of the shit he’s gone through. Buck is the kind of guy that feels deeply and loves hard, which sometimes gets him in trouble.
I don’t know, I just…I love Buck because he CARES so deeply about everyone around him. He loves his sister, he loves the 118, he loves Christopher.
I’ve been noticing in my watch that he has self destructive tendencies, and others always talk to him about it like he thinks he’s invincible. I love that Eddie pointed out that it was because Buck thinks he is expendable. It’s hard seeing a character you love believe that he doesn’t deserve as much of the love that he gives. I’m also glad that his family makes sure to reassure him of the opposite (when needed).
He’s also just so…complicated. He’s so selfish sometimes, but there are other times when he’s so selfless. Everything he does makes sense to me though, and it’s because he is a hotter, way more traumatized male version of me 😭
anyway. His character growth is important to me. S1 Buck and S7 Buck are so vastly different and it’s so 🥹❤️
I want to gently kiss Oliver Stark on the forehead because it’s obvious to me how much he loves this character.

Okay hear me out... This is my brain on no sleep and I really need to tell everyone... So I and my roommate did a thing. We both ship buddie very much and we talked almost every day about it. And we created a scenario. Hear me out.
So basically now that Buck is accepting himself he's starting to realize his feelings for Eddie. Eddie, if he doesn't, will soon too. Maybe in the episode 617 ,,love in the air" (we all have seen the mark with buddie sticker on it). And fast forwarding to season 7, in the last episode of 7a, maddney would have a wedding and in the last episode of 7b, buddie would have a wedding... And somewhere in between josh and ravi would find love too (we put them together as we don't have anyone else 😅😅).
Horrible scenario?
Hi darling! Awwwww, this is adorable! :D Your scenario actually makes my hopelessly romantic heart so happy! I'm not holding my breath for a Buddie wedding at the end of s7 (too soon after all of this build up), but I'll confess that a part of me thinks, well... they're basically married already, it makes sense that once they realize their feelings, they absolutely could go ahead and just make it official already. So yes to all of the romance! Even if it's not how it'll play out on screen, it's not 'coz it doesn't make sense for Buddie. ;)
Thank you for this adorable ask, I'm giving you and your roommate a big, squishy hug! As always, here's my ask tag. xoxox

idk if you’re still doing the top 5 thing but I have some categories for ya but a top 3 would probably make more sense, so top 3 favorite couples, top 3 least favorite couples (people who weee just not good together or you just didn’t like ‘em/dont like ‘em !)
i’m still doing anything as long as people want to talk to me lmao, thanks!
top three is actually diabolical considering there is four main ships in this show…. hmmm
3. Henren, just a beautifully perfect display of older lesbians who have built a life and love each other so much. definitely an aspirational ship for me. i love them so much
2. Madney, they’re just so perfect for each other. everyone loves the ships that go through hell to save each other but madney is the ship that crawls through hell to save themselves so they can go home to each other and i just find that so,,,, everything
1. buddie, who is surprised! no one. you know why i love them, they’re my everything and more.
bottom three— gonna include non canons for this too just cus that makes it more interesting. and i’m only including couples that are supposed to be liked together (so nothing like eva and hen or maddie and doug because you’re SUPPOSED to hate them)
3. may & ravi, i don’t think there’s rly anything morally wrong with this one i just… they would be BESTIES your honor. and also may grant needs to kiss a woman i swear to god.
2. buck and abby, sorry man i just… it’s not for me. it’s very cringe and it’s not even the age gap thing. buck and abby are the main reason you can tell that ryan murphy was actually involved in season 1 of this show lmao.
1. eddie and marisol. like it just pisses me off. she was only brought back the first time because they thought needed to wrap up the show. she was only brought back in s7 because natalia’s actress wasn’t coming back. like she’s not even supposed to be here and it just annoys me. she’s not done anything wrong as a character but…. there’s just no chemistry or ground work and we’re just supposed to believe this is a relationship that matters for no fucking reason. i hate it.

if you were in charge of writing the show, during which season would buddie get together and how would that play out?
hm, this might be an unpopular opinion, but i would opt for them getting together around s6/s7 (which still might happen bc i'm delusional <3) because something that really gets me invested in fictional romance is when both characters are actually developed + there's a slow burn. and buck and eddie did go through a lot of important development in the past 4 seasons which would be paramount to them actually getting together.
so: for them to get together in s6...personally, i would start off by acknowledging eddie's feelings for buck in some way—maybe through another character, some very overt pining—it doesn't really matter. i think i would keep the sperm donor storyline as it was, but kinda shorten it, and expand on the buckley parents + daniel a little more during the lightning strike, and it's aftermath, to get a better look at the inside of buck's head. i think something s6 really goofed up on is that in a lot places, it sacrificed telling a serious story for comedic effect, and i would definitely scrap that, especially with regards to the sperm donor storyline—all the dick jokes got old after a bit. (i would also cut down on buck's screentime by a lot xD). for eddie, i would also follow through on all the foreshadowing that seemed to point to him or chris (or both) being in danger at the end of the season, this could happen during the overpass collapse itself, if it was, you know, rewritten to be a two-episode emergency that was a lot more serious and high-stakes. i'd keep the stuff with natalia, except i'd have buck take a route that's actually interesting and have him turn her down when she comes back in 6x18 rather than repeating the same old story again. and during all this, eddie and chris being in danger would make buck wake up a little and start realizing that his feelings for eddie aren't exactly platonic. but he isn't completely there yet, so the season ends with their relationship on uncertain ground, with the audience aware that they both have feelings for each other, but not knowing how it's gonna play out; but buck is more at peace than he was at the beginning of s6. season 7 would open a couple months later with buck and eddie still kinda dancing around each other; eddie has no clue that buck actually returns his feelings, so he takes pepa's advice and tries to date, and this leads to tension with him and buck. there could be a big fight after this which culminates in them finally admitting the truth to each other and they decide to date—possibly in the mid-season finale.
idk! i'm not sure if this makes much sense. i promise it's a lot more coherent in my head xD

my thoughts on episode 18 as a whole, because i have SO MANY thoughts.
(btw none of this will be coherent because it's 08:30 in the morning and i'm a little pissed off)
!!!SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
the emergency:
10/10. that was SO fucking good. Athena finding Bobby made me tear up because that's what i wanted to happen. having the heart of a champion kid (well, adult now) help save Bobby was amazing. Maddie being all the call and being a massive help despite practically her entire family being the 118, Buck taking charge. it was just all around a good emergency.
the characters storylines i need a moment for because... hmm
Henren:
fucking adore it. the fostering thing is going well, Denny seems happy, both Hen and Karen are also happy with the little people running around their house. AND A BABY GIRL, you don't understand how happy i am for them. their storyline is just incredibly wholesome and i have no bad things to say about it.
Madney:
they're so excited to get married, i love them so much. a wedding at home is the cutest idea, i love it soo much. i have nothing bad to say about my beloveds this episode or season, they had a really good season.
Buck and Eddie, apparently a part for the first time in all of 6b:
Buck helping deliver the baby and get Connor and Kameron back was something i actually liked and wanted so that was good. Natalia being there wasn't but i guess she helped so thanks babes.
Christopher telling Eddie to ask out Marisol... bullshit. i call fucking bullshit. not for Buddie either, for Eddie. does Christopher not remember the last time his Dad tried to date a woman? because i highly doubt that's something you can forget (btw i like Marisol, she seems really sweet, but i want her to end up being what Stevie was to David in Schitts Creek, if that makes any sense)
Buck and Natalia... nope. just nope. again, not even for Buddie, FOR BUCK. he deserves better than someone who only took interest in him because he died. literally give him someone who loves Buck for Buck and will always love Buck for Buck.
also the couch theory, and the Buckley-Diaz family being a focal point this season... you just threw that away... i'm not even going to get angry about that right now because i want to collect coherent thoughts about it.
it felt lazy AGAIN and Buck and Eddie don't deserve that. once again, they don't deserve it SEPARATELY.
ending with my Mum and Dad, Bathena:
LOVED IT. Athena saving Bobby, being there for him, it made me cry.
THEY GOT THEIR HONEYMOON! FINALLY! Mum and Dad deserve the break (i am terrified that's how they'll start s7 but that's s7's problem)
overall it was a solid episode, as always. not one of my favourites but definitely one of my favourite season finale big rescues (nothing is topping the shooting at this point)

just saying my thoughts thassit:
amazing emergency
amazing soundtrack
loved that athena found bobby and that we were kept in suspense and he turned out to be okay
loved the madney conclusion of them getting married in their home
loved the shooting parallels and the throwbacks to all their greatest traumas
loved Kameron giving birth on the couch and destroying it and it being a baby boy
Buck's arc this season was sooo good but I don't think he needed a love interest. I get that it was an aspect of the season and everything, but him picking out a couch with Natalia and "all my couches came with girlfriends/all my girlfriends came with couches" shows he's still repeating cycles. Good to pick up on in s7 if they do but a little unsatisfying
Eddie doing the same thing he did in s4 but more full of life this time around and Chris being involved feels better but the lack of scenes with them leaves me disconnected
(these two critiques aren't in regards to buddie even though i am an avid buddie shipper btw)
if you wanna know my thoughts about in relation to buddie its under the cut
i knew they weren't gonna end up together this season. I knew eddie would call marisol though I'm like ehh doesn't make much sense to me. But there's still so much things in the episode that related to them that i was happy about over the couch metaphor being used that way.
the baby boy ➡ related to chris and daniel for me
the shooting call back and everything surrounding that
its a little disappointing sure but theres s7 in my mind and theres fanfiction!!
also I don't think Buck and Natalia are BAD together but I don't see myself caring for them because idk. I have even less investment in Eddie and Marisol because I really don't know them together.

i’m really trying not to think much about the finale but still ugh
thoughts like how the bridge collapse takes up almost the whole ep, so there won’t be much time for other storylines, so what if in the end of the ep eddie meets up with marisol and buck with natalia
and that’s why the actresses are listed in the guest cast list, like they won’t be doing much bc there’s no time for that, but that way they’re still there and clearly showing that they’re moving with us to abc s7 era…
i mean it doesn’t make much sense to me, especially to parallel them to canon couples, but knowing 911 and KR…
anyways, in couch theory we trust !

honestly the fact that there's no time jump pretyt much tells you they couldn't have both buck and eddie just break up with their respective girlfriends off screen, one has to stick around at least for a bit. bucks was in s5 i guess eddie's is in s7 but with a shorten season i don't see her lasting till episode 10. she'll be gone by 5 or 6 or hell maybe even before then. but the show has told you these relationships are not going to last. hope eddie finally realizes he's gay and in love w/ buck
Oh yeah, timeline-wise it makes all the sense in the world and should've been pretty obvious ever since they all but confirmed the cruise ship is the one bathena stepped onto at the end of S6. I just preferred not to look at it too directly, you feel me? :D But if it really does pick up right after S6 with no time jump, I'm very much hoping to see Natalia back so that she'd get more than an offscreen breakup. It'll depend on the availability of the actress, I assume, but personally I'd be a bit miffed if she was written out abruptly, especially after the way 6x18 ended.

It never fails to make me so happy seeing how Steve Urkel found so much love in the Winslow family.
First with Estelle. Mother Winslow can always be counted upon to defend Steve and shower affection on him. She takes on a grandmotherly role with him.
Secondly Richie Crawford. Richie was approximately 3 years old when he started calling Steve Urkel, Uncle Steve. He started this with 0 prompting or encouragement whatsoever. In fact, there were quite a few times when people would annoyedly say “he’s not your uncle” and despite this Richie continued to call him Uncle Steve.
Thirdly the relationship between Steve and Laura is so moving for me. I really feel like they were the best versions of themselves around each other. I feel like Stefan brought an immaturity out of Laura. For instance, that time that Laura was dating Stefan and Maxine started dating Laura’s ex, Curtis. Laura got in a jealous cat fight with Maxine when she didn’t even want Curtis anymore. She had chosen Stefan. Steve brings out a more gentle side and a more vulnerable side. At the beginning, Laura hates Steve... you know the classic enemies to lovers trope.... but then Steve and Laura start working together at the beginning of S2 first at Leroys and then subsequently Rachel’s Place and through working together they became friends. Laura can clown on Steve but you best believe if other people mistreat or act like a bad friend to Steve, she will come after you. And Laura comes to appreciate his sense of humor, goofiness, intelligence, and loyalty. I would say that Laura starts to fall in love and be attracted to Steve in the beginning of S7 when Steve starts to live with the Winslows. You see that change in how Laura views Steve start in “The Naked And The Nerdy” episode and certainly you see it in the “Dream Date” episode. You don’t kiss someone like Laura kissed Steve if you aren’t attracted to them... you just don’t. And Steve starts to become a better person and i’m not just talking about the clothes he wears. He sharpens his selfless and sacrificial love skills with Laura. He learns to back off and give her space when need be over time. He loves Laura but he will do anything for her even if it comes with great emotional pain to himself at times. Like when he wanted to take her to the dance but she said that she only wanted to go with Ted. Steve helped get the date even though it pained him greatly because at the end of the day he wanted Laura to be happy.
Even Steve and Eddie’s relationship makes great strides. Just seeing Eddie start to hang out with Steve, get comfortable and chill around Steve and not be ashamed to be seen with him means so much to me. Eddie isn’t a very physically or even verbally affectionate person with his guy friends but you do see in small ways his friendship with Steve progress in a consistent and moving way.
The only Steve relationship that stays pretty stagnant is the one with Carl. There’s always these sweet moments at the end of episodes that feel so false and disingenuous because Carl may be sweet to Steve and see his perspective but then nothing ever changes. They will hug and the next episode Carl will continue to be an asshole to Steve. He also knows the way in which Steve’s parents abuse him and he has no sympathy for Steve. He could be a great influence and father figure in Steve’s life... maybe even help him be less clumsy but instead he piles more crap on Steve. Steve’s abuse is so interesting to me because if a character went through all this in a drama then it would be a soap opera and Steve’s parents would be imprisoned and at the very least Steve would be taken out of that home by Child Protective Services. But because this a comedy show and they don’t actually show these events (only talk about them) then we’re supposed to laugh?!?! Well, it isn’t funny. Steve’s parents legit use him as a projectile to break a pinata on Steve’s birthday. He said that he spent his birthday in an ambulance. Carl hears this (as a police officer btw) and let’s it pass and then later in that episode has a heart to heart with Steve where he seemingly makes excuses for Steve’s parents.... saying shit like “oh parents are just hard on their kids, i’m sure they’re proud of you.” I mean, Carl, did you not listen to what Steve said?!?! This is so far beyond a parent who simply have high expectations of their children. They are fucking abusive!! And that’s just one of 100s of abusive and horrible things the Urkel parents did. They were invited to Steve’s wedding to Laura which is one of the most exciting moments in your child’s life and they said they couldn’t come because an episode of their favorite show was coming on that day. Once his parents moved to Milwaukee when he was a small child, they took new identities to hide from Steve. One time Steve called his mom and she pretended that she didn’t know who he was. All these things are portrayed as funny because of how outlandish they are but it’s still abuse and it should be seen as that. Carl knows all these things and also Steve has legit saved Carl’s life multiple times and yet Carl still treats him like shit.
It’s 2022, it’s time that we call what Steve Urkel went through abuse. With all that in mind, seeing Steve find love and happiness with most of the Winslow family is so well deserved. Estelle is like a grandmother, Richie is like a nephew, Eddie is a great friend, and Laura is his wife and the love of his life.
Most of Steve’s relatives hate him and pay him money to stay away from them. Uncle Cecil, Uncle Ernie, Aunt Oona, and Myrtle Urkel at least are nice to Steve so that’s good I guess. Steve’s classmates all bully him, a lot of his teachers hate him and only because he’s clumsy and nerdy. I can’t emphasize this enough... because he’s CLUMSY AND NERDY. The boy is a sweetheart, so smart, so kind, nice, and funny and yet so many people hate him because he’s different.
Going back to the positive relationships in Steve’s life... it warms my heart how he also finds love and acceptance from his polka community. The episode “Polkapalooza” is one of my favorites because not only does Laura tell Steve that she loves him for the first time but we also see him being absolutely adored by the people in the greater Chicago area polka community. You can see why as a child, he gravitated towards polka. Because as a child no one loved him so to have that community of like minded and kind people was something that was greatly needed and wanted.
Now Steve is married to Laura and they have little Urkel children and are living happily ever after. He has Eddie, Greta, Maxine, and Waldo as his close friends and I even like to think that Carl and Harriette came around and treat him with love and respect now. He also became rich and successful... probably famous for some amazing invention and when his parents came crawling back, trying to reap the benefits then he kicked their sorry asses to the curb.
