Ughhh I'm so fucking sluggish and down nowadays but BiHanzo's one of my hyperfixations that keep me going. Kinda pathetic I know, but I don't really care anymore.

Anyway, I got a lot of messy ideas/prompts/headcanons for fics of these two which I WISH I could make my own but I don't have the writing skills to execute it. Mainly focused on MK9 BiHanzo and I kinda made up my own AUs where they aren't grandmasters of their clans yet, the other where they just turned into grandmasters but have a secret affair while their clans are still enemies, then the other one where one misunderstanding leads to another and BAM these are just one BIG mess. Incoming messy ramblings and thoughts of them.

Some NSFW stuff:

Hanzo sneaking into Lin Kuei quarters late at night to meet his esteemed rival and secret fuck buddy in his bedroom. Bi-Han is surprised at how bold he is and tries to reason with Hanzo that they shouldn't because they're at risk of getting caught. Hanzo is too horny to care and just makes Bi-Han control and muffle his voice as much as he can. It gets very hot and heated. Hanzo putting his hand over Bi-Han's mouth while pressing his body down on him. Wherever Bi-Han held on for support, ice started to form on the surface showing how much he was trying to control himself. The room gets steamy from how rough and crazed their sex is.

I'd love to read about Bi-Han being tied up in Hanzo's chains and getting fucked senseless or getting pounded against a tree in the woods. They got the whole tree shaking for sure, leaves falling, branches tweaking- Yeah, I'll stop there.

Modern AU, Hanzo seeing a drunk and weak Bi-Han for the first time at a late night bar and he just gets his mind blown away from the sight. He gets a whole new perspective of Bi-Han and wants to know more about him. It seemed that Hanzo had way more tolerance and discipline than Bi-Han when it came to alcohol. The poor cold bastard was way too drunk to see or care that he's basically opening up to his sworn enemy and rival. Hanzo tries to stifle his laugh but shuts up very soon once he realizes it must have taken a lot for Bi-Han to get to this point where he starts dumping about all he has been through. I CAN ADD A LOT MORE TO THIS BUT I'LL SAVE IT FOR ANOTHER POST AND ANOTHER TIME. They don't fuck until they come to a conclusion about their relationship.

The hate sex is strong but it's also extremely satisfying for the two of them. I'm really into Bi-Han being a bottom here lol... after all he is SUB-Zero. Him being a dominant sub works too.

Pining/fluff/some angst:

Them always bumping into each other while on missions, tournaments, etc. They hated each other at first but slowly become fond of one another as time passes. Instead of fighting, they start conversing and notice that they are somehow similar, beginning to respect the other more...

Hanzo makes the first moves (holding hands, small touches, hugging, showing affecfion) and he doesn't mind doing it until Bi-Han is comfortable.

Bi-Han longing to be closer to Hanzo but he tries to suppress his feelings as much as he can, he then projects his "anger" and "hatred" for Hanzo so that he can hide the truth. He doesn't have internalized homophobia, it's just his circumstances that make it forbidden for him to have personal ties and fall for the enemy. His loyalty to his clan and the desire of his heart are constantly at battle. It slowly begins to rip him apart. He does a good job hiding what he really feels because Hanzo can't see through this facade. The cryomancer became all bark but no bite because he didn't want to hurt his secret love anymore. Bi-Han finally confesses his love before almost getting killed by Hanzo because he'd been tormented enough. He only wished to die by his love's hand at that point. But Hanzo is taken aback and shaken by the whole thing... then it goes on from there.

These two make me sick sometimes. I just need more gritty stuff between them. But that's it for now, will add more when I get ideas.

The house was silent when you entered, so much so that the kicking of snow from your boots in the entryway seemingly echoed. Tyler was probably just asleep, still. It was early, after all, and you just headed out to get a coffee. No more than a thirty minute absence.

Assuming he was asleep, you forewent announcing yourself as having returned to set your coffee down and go to the bedroom to check on Tyler. Not to wake him up or anything, he just always looked so pretty when he slept. He got embarrassed every time you pointed that out. But you couldn’t help your urges.

You made your way to the bedroom, and quietly opened the door, leaning on the frame to look over at the bed towards him.

I haven't edited for brevity/those I'm actively working on, these are just all the unfinished files I could find. Some I don't intend to do any more with, others I'd really like to pick up again. The only ones being actively worked on right now are the Andor Saga AU and the first one on the list for Andor.

I put ALL the Lymond I could find in mainly for @oughtaagh who has been leaving the most lovely comments on my Lymond fics that I have totally failed to respond to. I'm sorry! I will cycle back round to Lymond one day, it's inevitable <3

C: We decided we were thirsty, and you wanted to go to Cavo's. As yet untitled Brassian alternative scene - what if instead of a great collaborative cover story this was a great collaborative fuck? Almost(?) finished?

Saga AU pt 2. This actually does have a working title of 'The Bear and the Berserk' but this doc is just a short bullet point list of plot things for a specific part of the fic.

Cassian pov. It's a Cassian pov chapter! For...drumroll...the first chapter of the Saga AU pt 2! The rest is going to be back to Brasso FPN. The file actually includes a rough first draft of chapter 2, as well.

"You're up early this morning," Bix says lightly. A follow-up chapter to Only Ever Just One Night started back when I had epic plans for continuing this, bringing in Cinta and Vel and Luthen, whumping the hell out of Brasso, and having Cassian rescue him. This is just one scene of awkward conversation with tea though.

Oh god it developed Plot. Related to the previous chapter - a bullet-pointed list of things that might have happened in this fic I Wil Not Write (not least as I'd rather just see what happens in S2 first anyway).

It was a sunny day in Batumi... Patchy few paragraphs of the next chapter of Inchoate.

THE LYMOND CHRONICLES

Canon-verse/other AUs

Multiple pieces of follow-up to The next man with a ladder, Danny/Jerott post-canon: It was dark when they rode into the port town... [Chapter 3, basically done, plus most of Chapter 4 but it devolves into broken paragraphs at the end]. "I'm going to the other bed," Danny said in a voice like someone was standing on his throat... [??? there's loads of this written! This is the file where they Get Down To It] Stitch the scenes together [a few paragraphs in which I hoped to make a logical leap from Chapter 4 to fucking, but seemingly never quite got there].

Lymondar saga draft. Actually two files of the abortive first effort at writing a saga AU. I was trying much harder to write in saga style and playing with lacunae in a way that was fun for me but exceedingly nerdy. I think I found the idea more fun than the execution, too.

St Seb. Remember ages ago when I was writing a post-canon 'Jerott gets shot full of arrows and has to admit his feelings because he thinks he's gonna die' fic? This is the file! Some bullet points and some text, some of which I even posted as Sunday sixes way back when iirc.

Fait prosperer qui n'est à croire vain. Fuck me, there's LOADS of this. Pawn in Frankincense/Ringed Castle AU where Marthe steals Lymond's ride with Kiaya Khatun and persuades her they should take over Russia together. Meanwhile Francis is left with Jerott. Hahaha. It kept getting longer because Francis kept trying to escape and I kept finding ways to drag him back, but the 'and now kiss!!' with the two of them behaving in character was just not coming easily.

Francis Crawford's Holistic Inquisition Agency. I wrote this??? One chapter of a Lymond/Dirk Gently AU, where Francis is obviously Dirk and Jerott is a furious/bemused Todd.

She tried every instrument, she redrew every chart. A few short chapters, never finished, of Marthe wrestling with her role in canon and her fate as assigned by La Dame. A couple more paragraphs of a similar sort of thing in Volos.

Malta. Half-arsed few paragraphs of wondering how Jerott would cope with meeting a fellow Knight being imprisoned for sodomy.

Band AU (my 1980s rock band AU for the series, see also @theartistknownaslymond)

Au of an Au. What if, after the Battle of the Bands at Solway, Jerott went to stay at the Edinburgh townhouse for a while and he and Francis got to collaborating in the shed? There's quite a lot of this and it's quite fluffy.

Out out out! The band celebrate Thatcher's downfall. Happy epilogues for everyone! However it's an epic task trying to do all the characters justice, so I was trying to write it as vignettes to match each song on the playlist. Six-ish are written. And earlier draft with plan for characters intercting is in Ding dong the witch is dead.

Jerott/Marthe - four times it just about worked, one time it really didn't. What it says on the tin? aka you just know Jerott has said 'Francis' instead of Marthe at least once when he comes. Only the beginning of the first time exists in this chapter, but I think I explored the idea elsewhere, whenever I dig up that file...

DWTH missing scene. Jerott/OC missing scene from Don't wake the house. Not finished, probably not going to be finished. I think I have enough Jerott smut on the go.

Workshop. Patchy draft of pre-canon Jerott and GRM 'therapy' session in which GRM learns about Francis Crawford and what a hold he has on the boy he thought of as his own plaything. GRM doesn't like sharing.

F/P. Draft of a fluffy kiss prompt someone (@erinaceina? @notfromcold?) sent for Francis/Philippa. Post-canon pregnant Philippa and worried Francis written when it was too hot in summer. It's probably complete enough to post tbh! hmu if you want it posting.

Jerott behaving badly (again). Somehow this ended up in the 'comfortember' section of the notepad, which...no? Maybe it was intended to be originally, but it grew a life of its own. Post-canon, post split-up with the OC, pre-getting together with Danny. Joining the mile high club and regretting it, then ending up crashing at Joleta's (who he meets coincidentally at the airport, NOT who he's screwing in the airplane loo!!). It's meant to end up cathartic, but didn't get finished :') I'm actually really pleased with what I have - post-canon Joleta is so much fun to write!

Somewhere (Google Drive?? an actual Word doc??) there is also loads and loads and LOADS of Pawn in Frankincense band AU around Baron Morgan's place (the Aga Morat), featuring fucked-up Francis/Morgan, fucked up Marthe/Kiaya, fucked up Francis/Kiaya, and bewildered cold turkey Jerott. There's also some Jerott/Marthe from later on.

Other

Crossover. A sequel to my ATWD fic I will shake mountains, where Merab and Irakli encounter celebrity diners in the restaurant they work in: respected musician Francis Crawford and friends take the boys for a drink and share queer/artistic inspiration/history with them. There's quite a lot written but I couldn't quite manage to finish it off.

St Mary's. Another ATWD/Lymond crossover, placing Merab and Irakli among the mercenaries of St Mary's. Mostly bullet points.

3m. Furious that there was no fic for the film Three Months I decided to jot down a scene I wanted to see afterwards. I wrote four lines and cannot remember what my plan was at all.

I know a lot of folks don't like ADHD meds, for a variety of reasons, but oh my god. Oh my motherfucking god. These are a godsend for me.

I've been on concerta for about a year now (lowest dosage) and it's helped improve my focus and has lowered my depression. I thought it was amazing. Recently, I got my dosage upped.

My bedroom was a high level depression pit. It was nasty. I haven't actually slept in my own bed in months because it was covered in stuff. But it was so overwhelming to look at that it triggered executive dysfunction with just a glance, and so I never could clean it. My room is now clean; reorganized, dusted, vacuumed, disinfected, redecorated- it's been YEARS since it looked this nice.

I'm in grade 12.5 because I was so dysfunctional in grade 11 that I dropped out halfway through. I spent grade 12 making up for it; but even then, on my first dosage and doing better, I wasn't doing great. I haven't taken notes in years. I have winged almost every test I've ever taken. I wrote every essay the night before it was due. Rough drafts who? I managed to pull decent grades, sometimes even pretty good ones. But it was never ending stress because of my habits and I was almost always behind.

I'm ahead in my classes now. I'm doing assignments the day they're assigned. I'm writing notes and brainstorming pages of ideas and breaking things down for myself. I'm getting straight 90s. I haven't felt this confident and secure in academics since middle school.

Our house was never totally clean. The basement (my charge) was always a disaster. Having people over was at best a little shameful and at worst downright humiliating. My mother cleans, but the messes she makes outweigh it. It was my job to handle the basics, at least, after school every day. I couldn't. I could do a few things, but I got burnt out or bored too fast to complete a day's work. Small projects were put off for months.

I come home from school now and within a couple of hours, I've vacuumed upstairs and downstairs, I've done the dishes, I've taken out the trash, I've brushed the cats, I've cleaned the living room and the kitchen, I've switched the laundry- yesterday I used the toilet and then just. Reorganized the entire bathroom. Today I came home and immediately untangled the huge knotted ball of my mother's necklaces that she asked me to fix for her weeks ago. On Saturday not only did I brush my cats, I also shampooed them, conditioned them, and clipped their claws.

I used to hoard clothing because going through them was the most tedious, boring task in existence. I've recently donated over six full garbage bags worth of stuff.

I used to have to write down every single task as soon as it was given, even if there were only two, because I'd always forget at least one thing. Now I can remember upwards of five things at once, even better than the person who assigned the task in the first place.

My moods feel more regulated, I'm socializing more, I'm advocating for myself in situations where I'd previously let people walk over me, I'm making goals for the future, I have more real free time, I'm less stressed- it's a little sad that I've spent almost a decade not getting this, but I am BEYOND thrilled that I get to have this now :D

Ahh, your new and very bleak AU is such a good read! I'm curious, what is Sasuke doing in this AU and how is he juggling the relationships? And did you have any ideas of where you would take this Au further if you did? If it would get bleaker or at least a little better?

First off, thank you! Yeah, this AU is very bleak and I don’t know why it’s the only thing my brain wanted to churn out but I decided to let it happen.

Second, oof, hold on to your seats, this is gonna be rough: I have a lot of Thoughts™ about this AU.

So, Sasuke is a sticking point in this AU because everyone else is pretty easy to understand on which side they’d fall, but I did want him specifically to be neutral in the aftermath. Because I didn’t want it to be Shikako and Sasuke vs Naruto but also Shikako vs Sasuke and Naruto isn’t great either and realistically, even the DoS version of Sasuke still loves vengeance.

He would’ve been on the side of legal capital punishment for sure because vengeance, but once it became official that the councilors were going to be imprisoned instead I don’t think he would have approved of Shikako’s actions. Like, I think it’s the illegality that is the problem especially if he’s head of KMP at this time. But even if he’s not, Shikako performing an extrajudicial execution is very much skirting the line into… uh… power corrupts type vibe.

I also wanted Sasuke to be in Konoha: in DoS future fic in general, not just this AU, I like the idea that Shikako is the traveler while Sasuke is the one who stays in Konoha—or, if he does travel, it’s because he’s traveling WITH Shikako. (Tangentially related, I do think Naruto likes traveling but THINKS he likes being in Konoha because of his Hokage dream and that explains why he’s Like That in Boruto)

Anyway, in this AU Sasuke is in Konoha and conflicted on this matter to the point of being neutral. Because on the one hand, yes, justified vengeance of course. He was definitely team justified vengeance. But even if he doesn’t UNDERSTAND Naruto’s decision to not give Shikako her justified vengeance, he’s—in this universe—law abiding.

So I don’t know if it’s just the act of extrajudicial execution or if Shikako asked him to be accessory to it or if she tricked him into being accessory to it, but Sasuke doesn’t approve. So ideally Sasuke agrees with Shikako that the councilors should have been given the capital punishment, but the methods that Shikako used (whether involving/compromising Sasuke himself) he disapproves of so in that way he agrees with Naruto.

Hence, conflicted to the point of neutrality.

I should also maybe mention that Sakako doesn’t exist in this AU. Which sucks for Shikadai because he also doesn’t have his other cousins either—or, rather, they exist, but he’s not going to meet them and they aren’t his cousins: Kareru (if he does exist) is an Uzumaki (which the Nara have conflicted feelings about.) And in my own little headcanon of NGSS Shikako’s the one that finds Araya, Gaara’s the one that finds Yodo, and while Kankurou was the one to find Shinki he’s very busy in this universe what with being the Kazekage and all—but understandably sucks more for Sasuke considering he basically lost a child. Or never had the child that he could have?

Schroedinger’s child.

Anyway, he does still have Sarada, which is good. Whether or not he also has the other biological kids because of the repopulation program is kinda up in the air of whether that would be affected by Konoha’s internal politics.

Weirdly, I think his relationships with other people hinge on how I want Sakura to feel about Shikako’s actions? And now I’m fully going off the rails, but I like the idea of SaixInoxSakura as a stable throuple in a good future. In this bleak AU it’s obvious whose side Ino is on, and DoS!Sai has always been Shikako’s more than Naruto’s (and also, he’s so down to break the law for her it’s great,) and while that is also true of Sakura, she’s also a civilian born medic. So philosophically, she would agree with Naruto that imprisonment is better than execution. And she would also agree that what Shikako did is pretty fucked up.

But Sakura is also the kind of person who, in canon, forgave Sasuke for a lot and worse shit. And there’s also Inner Sakura to think about because, yeah, we don’t see her as much (if at all) but, you know, hurt those who have hurt you is a very instinctive thing to do.

What I’m saying is: if Sakura has somehow threaded the needle on her own conflicting feelings about Shikako’s actions, then because Sarada is Sasuke’s link to her, Sakura might be Sasuke’s best friend?

Because he definitely lost Shikako when everything went down, but he kind of also lost Naruto even before that when he denied Shikako her justified vengeance?

And if his best friend is Sakura now, then his social circle kind of depends on her social circle. Like, if she’s remained in the throuple with Ino and Sai without weird lingering resentments, then by default his social circle includes them and other people who were on Shikako’s side. If she didn’t remain in that throuple then their social circle is people who were Naruto’s side.

… Schroedinger’s throuple…

Anyway, as for the direction this AU is going, I suppose it also depends on whose POV you’re in?

The reason why Shikako is running around being international superstar Kako Heijo is because she didn’t want to destroy Konoha by kicking off a civil war. Like, she doesn’t regret killing those councilors, but politically it doesn’t look great for her to blatantly refute the Hokage’s decision. And it especially isn’t great if she stays there where people who agreed with her would rally behind her and cause an internal schism in the administration that would lead to a civil war.

It’s like the situation in Indelible except worse.

Unfortunately, her pulling a Tsunade and leaving while not being a missing nin didn’t really solve the problem so much as delay it or make everything hide under layers of passive aggression.

Because the trajectory that I currently have is that the ANY clans are gradually and quietly seceding from Konoha. Those three clans could practically form their own functioning village—the Yamanaka and Nara are in so many different departments and the Akimichi (or at least my version of it) have noble/civilian ties and resources—in a way that could devastate Konoha’s infrastructure for at least a few months if not years if they just up and left. Obviously, not everyone in the administration is from the clan system so it’s not like a debilitating walk out for the village, but it doesn’t look great and also there are some who aren’t in the clan system who might want to defect to wherever the ANY go.

Like, my brain definitely has some Ino-and-Chouji-being-coldly-furious fic ideas including the absolute INSULT it would be to them that Konohamaru is BORUTO’S jounin sensei when EVERYONE KNOWS that the Sarutobi are supposed to be mentors to the Ino-Shika-Cho. (To be fair, Naruto didn’t do this as a deliberate snub. Obviously he doesn’t know about clan ties/alliances, but it’s a pretty glaring misstep that he hasn’t learned that since becoming Hokage and an especially worse misstep that he assigned Konohamaru to his own son’s team out of preferential treatment.)

There were other perceived slights over the years, I’m sure, but I just especially like turning Boruto canon into something for Ino and Chouji to rage over. It’s great. They’re so mad in this AU. I love it.

So I guess… thinking about how to make this less bleak would be… if Shikako and Shikadai are trying to figure out how to save Konoha from itself. And also keep Shikadai out of Sand’s clutches.

Which I guess means that Shikadai has to become Hokage?

… which is a pretty funny take on the original premise of Naruto. Like, I’m going to become the strongest/the Hokage to protect the people I love (from a civil war.)

I’m legit laughing.

But in all seriousness, any next major steps narratively of this AU would have to be done by Shikako, Shikadai, and maybe Kankurou in order to prevent Konoha’s implosion. And unfortunately, this situation is so tangled up politically that it can’t just be Shikako swooping in to save the day.

Like, even if they somehow found Gaara, it wouldn’t change the fact the Shikamaru was assassinated, Naruto wouldn’t let the Nara clan have their justified vengeance, and Shikako took it by force anyway.

It’s a very sins of the father (or… aunts/uncles) situation where only the next generation—ie Shikadai—can seize the means by which to… I guess… forgive all parties involved and if not repair then at least put out the active flames of the burning bridges.

Either that or time travel which has been brought up before… which could be pretty cool but is also pretty funny because, like, imagine you’re a 12 year old boy and your international superstar aunt and your foreign king uncle, both of whom you’ve only just met, go time traveling together. That’s hilarious.

All of which is a very long way for me to say that the passive trajectory is bleak, but an active narrative would involve attempts to make it less bleak (either by Shikadai becoming Hokage or the strangest boy and his aunt and uncle go on a time travel roadtrip, lol)

1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?

my current default is Libre Franklin! i actually cycle through fonts a lot? i like the editing trick of changing your font to help catch errors and clunky writing, and sometimes i'll switch the font of my doc if i'm feeling particularly stuck while i'm writing. idk how many people know this, but you can change the default font/formatting/color of google docs, and i do it constantly 😂

2. If you had to give up your keyboard and write your stories exclusively by hand, could you do it? If you already write everything by hand, a) are you a wizard and b) pen or pencil?

I write by hand a lot actually! I went through 2.5 notebooks alone last year iirc. I always write in pen -- writing by hand helps me gets ideas out of my head faster, and part of that is that i can't undo/backspace what i write. i just gotta move on. and since i'll have to rewrite it anyways when i type it up, writing by hand really helps me get that first rough draft mess out. it also helps me discard the really crap ideas from that first draft -- sometimes the typed doc that it distills into is completely different than what's on paper, and we're all grateful for it.

3. What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?

WRITING IN FRIENDS DMS!!!! nothing gets my ideas flowing better than a friend to bounce them around with, and nothing helps me solidify and distill ideas like needing to explain them to someone. i am so bad about sending friends multiple screens worth of written scenes in their DMs (i am very fortunate to have friends who let me do this). this ritual is cursed because my preferred DM platform is tumblr, and i actually rarely remember to save these writings to something more permanent like a doc (pour one out for the many, many, MANY writings lost in DMs <3)

11. Do you believe in the old advice to “kill your darlings?” Are you a ruthless darling assassin? What happens to the darlings you murder? Do you have a darling graveyard? Do you grieve?

*stares at writing notebook* *stares at lost DM fics* kill your darlings

real answer lol: if there's something i really like, i can usually find a way to bring it back into a WIP. i'm really good at that sort of adaptive thinking, but part of why i'm good at that is because i am a ruthless darling killer. all of my editing is very much focused on how all the pieces of a story work in harmony to each other and if something doesn't fit within that, that's not the story for it. but sometimes the reason why a thing doesn't work in the story is because its in the wrong place and since I have no issue removing things that don't work, it's a lot easier to find a better place for it if you're not fixated on keeping it in a specific spot. and for any darling that never makes its way back to its home story, it goes into my mental compost heap to possibly seed into something new for a future story.

12. If a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? Btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current WIPs into Lorem Ipsum, I don’t make the rules

fool proof way to write in the shower, perfect recall when im trying to remember a story idea i laid out in DMs, the perfect cure to my adhd executive dysfunction.

i'm an avid annotator but only for like...general knowledge? all of my textbooks, reference book, and journal articles/papers are littered with annotations and other marginalia (this is partially why i have so many colored ink ballpoint pens actually 😂). there was a hot minute where i tried to do this for general story/poetry books, but...ehh???? i never quite got into that because usually i just lose myself in the story and my external thoughts come out better in friend DMs or post tags ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

as for the others-- dog ear, no, i don't like the look of bent pages. plus i have a loooot of bookmarks i'm still not using because they're one of those Cheap Art Merch things lol. i absolutely read in the bath (if i take a bath, because ya girl gets BORED), but usually im grabbing one of my travel edition books jic something happens to it, anything electronic i hold over the edge so it won't fall in.

hrmmhmMm define organized?

zero organization to notebooks. those are for Throwing Up Ideas, organization would give me writer's block or anxiety. similar for anything that winds up in my phone notes -- even if i could organize them better, i probably wouldn't? they're kinda like a part 2 to the writing notebook for me jotting down ideas, esp stuff that i don't think will become proper stories. proper stories are on google drive because i don't have a better option. fics there are separated by fandom. series and multi-chapter fics get their own folders, individual stories stay out in the general folder. i also have a folder for posted/finished one-shots and a compost folder for discarded story ideas to help keep the clutter down

24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?

...how much does friend DM yelling count? i love plotting out stories in friend DMs, it's one of my favorite things to do, but i don't like. force myself to stick with anything either. i don't like rigorous story outlines, i prefer a more organic and flexible approach to writing stories. the best i can manage for a story outline is a general bullet list of story points i hope to hit. i like research a lot (wikipedia rabbit holes my beloved <3), but i don't usually worry about going too in-depth for it. it's really good fuel for story ideas and the brainstorming process, but like. i write fic. i care a lot about being sensitive and careful with other people's cultures and histories, but otherwise i don't fret the details and minute because my goal here is to share silly stories.

32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?

birthday gifts

sonic loves giving people gifts, although he often struggles with missing birthdays! nobody begrudges him a frantic dash to the marketplace, although he really should be better at this by now. still, he always knows what to get his closest friends in sonic-team.

knuckles never really did birthdays, but he remembers his own because it was the day of the summer solstice, when the sun was at its longest in the sky. the customs were originally alien to him, and the first time, he thought his birthday meant *he* gave people presents, but being a clever echidna it didn't take long to grasp. nowadays, in early june, knuckles likes to drop hints to his friends. about grapes.

tails makes things in his workshop: complex little things like a motorised merry-go-round or a zoetrope or even more complex things. little amusing gizmos and stuff like that. for him, making the gizmos is part of the fun of birthdays!

amy showers affection upon sonic, but she also tends to give surprisingly thoughtful gifts to other people. even shadow has to admit that her grasp of gift-giving is very endearing. she once gave him a drawing that reminded him of maria, and shadow uncharacteristically broke his facade and tearfully hugged her

shadow himself is coy on the subject of presents... he claims to disavow gift-giving and says that he doesn't really do it, but his friends know different... they always give him presents as much as he tries to discourage them. it's a facade. and shadow himself likes to find something to give his friends. one time, he and omega tried to execute a complicated heist in secret to get rouge a precious gem, even recruiting knuckles and amy. it didn't go well, but rouge enjoyed the story even more than she would've the jewel.

rouge is a generous gift-giver. stealing is one thing, but stealing for others' benefit? she thinks it's very [chefs kiss]. nevertheless, there will be times when she'll acquire gifts legally, too, if they're extra special. and she does like jewellery and shiny things...

silver scours his trashed future world, searching for the perfect gift for blaze. he braves iblis' flames and the rubble and ruin of crisis city for the ideal present for her. the days blur into each other in their future, but they have a rough idea of when each others' birthdays are.

blaze uses whatever she has to craft something for silver. she uses scraps and her fire powers to make small trinkets, or necklaces, or other gifts. silver treasures them all. he loses them when solaris is wiped and the future is fixed, but he retains memories of them and sketches them out. in the sol dimension, they both surprise each other with gifts; they both treat finding and giving presents with a lot of importance, and always worry that their present isn't enough. but the other always loves it anyway. blaze also ends up giving away a lot of her unwanted royal gowns and the things she receives from wannabe suitors and distant kingdoms, so amy often gets a little excited around blaze's birthday...

vector takes espio out for pizza. vector takes charmy out for pizza. on their birthday, vector always takes people out for pizza. vector loves birthday pizza. vector's favourite pizza place gives him free pizza on his *own* birthday, he's such a frequent customer. everybody remembers the time vector and the chaotix took shadow out for birthday pizza.

espio doesn't actually like pizza. he doesn't tell anyone.

Oh my god, yes! With season 2 coming out next month my spark for that blindfolded fool was ignited once again recently 😄🩵

That one’s slowly turning into a fic with how many ideas I have for it, even though it was meant to be pure smut. I’m still figuring out the proper details and working on my characterization of Gojo (he’s more complicated than I thought) so there’s no definite date as to when I wanna post it. I have my own deadline to finish it before S02E01 but…

Anyway, here’s a snippet from the very little I have written so far 🫶🏻:

Thin pieces of parchment paper stick to every corner of the room, decorated with delicate strokes of red writing. You’ve seen such thing before; your grandmother used to have such ornaments hanging around her house.

That’s when it hits you.

It’s a basement. Not a room.

You’re in a stranger’s basement.

Springing up from the mat, your hand reaches for a near table, steaming your weakened body while your head spins.

Your hand slides along the rough texture of the basement wall, fingertips gliding delicately over the surface as you make your way toward the door. The sensation of the dainty paper seals beneath your touch adds a layer of curiosity to your already troubled state.

With cautious steps, you ascend the cold concrete steps that lead to the locked barrier separating you from the outside.

“Fuck—“

Your silent dread starts spilling into frustration with each tug at the door; barely audible against the backdrop of silence.

To no avail, the door’s not budging. Pressing your palm against the cool material, you push. With added determination, your strength still fails to reach your goal.

It’s then that a faint sound stops your next movement.

A whistle. Echoing on the other side of the door. Ear pressed cautiously against the surface, you listen carefully. Whistling a tone; a song of unknown origin, the sound’s only growing louder.

It’s coming your way.

The person’s steps near the door before you quickly descend the short staircase. The room doesn’t offer any hiding spot; and it’s probable that the person coming is well aware of your situation. Be it the one that took you or–

(The best defense is a good offense.)

And it might be your only solution to this whole messy ordeal.

–the door creaks open the same moment your back meets the wall right next to the stairs. A small lamp, previously the only decoration of a single drawer, is now in your grasp. Fingers wrapped tightly around the cylindrical base, you wield the lamp as a makeshift weapon, its weight providing a comforting reassurance in your hand. Adrenaline courses through your veins, heightening your senses and sharpening your resolve.

The whistling stops. A moment of silence falls upon the room as the stranger’s movements still. Standing by the open door, a faint sound spirals through the air; a snicker.

At least it sounds that way.

With each leisured step, the rhythmic thuds reverberate through the air, drawing closer to where you lie in wait. As the source of the footsteps comes into view, your gaze is met with a tall figure.

The man, rather young by the soft features of his face, executes an undeniable air of confidence. He cuts a striking figure, his lean form garbed in a zip-up jacket of dark purple hue, accompanied by pants of the same color.

However, what throws you off guard is the cloth over his eyes. A blindfold. The dark fabric a stark contrast to his snow-white hair.

He’s blind; you note while letting him take another step.

A surge of courage courses through your veins as you witness the stranger's blindfolded visage.

The back of his head is towards you. That’s when you make your decision.

In a swift and calculated motion, you unleash your attack. Propelled by a surge of primal instinct, you propel yourself forward, closing the gap between you and the unsuspecting figure before you. The lamp in your grasp becomes an extension of your determination–

Fingers slipping, adrenaline pumping, the rhythmic pounding of your eardrums mirrors the frantic beat of your heart. With a resolute swing, a pure animalistic instinct of fight or flight, your hope rises as the lamp leaves your grasp, its trajectory aimed perfectly at the back of the man’s head.

owl house season 3!!!! various doodles, some more obviously referencing screenshots than others

(the belos one is him squinting at a script while luz pats his shoulder with That’s Rough Buddy energy. it makes more sense if you read my rambling below)

thoughts on the episode under the cut that got REALLY LONG

FIRST I absolutely love this show and that was an extremely entertaining special. the sheer love that is put into this show was palpable, and I loved all the kids’ outfits, and the kind of things they got up to in the human realm, CAMILLA oh man Camilla rocked, and it was just beautiful overall in backgrounds and designs and animation (that fight scene? MWAH the way the kids are animated on their staffs has always been sooo satisfying to watch)

however

i gotta admit, while the end of s2 you could tell they were pressed for time I still felt like- especially in hollow mind- they kept a fairly good pace, while in this special it was kind of a mess. like everything was zoomed through, not just the montage, and scenes like luz and hunter investigating the house together were (WHILE SO GOOD) very thrown in, seeming more like they wrote the idea and fawned over it and had to slap it in with little set up and follow through in order to keep the special moving. like, it’s a collection of so many awesome moments, but the connective tissue was lacking much more visibly here than it ever has in the show before

and the elephant in the room: belos

okay. so. i honestly was not wild about how belos was done in this special at all. ignoring that, despite their clear efforts both here and in hollow mind and the finale etc, hunter is still the clearest and most emotional and sympathetic connection to the main villain and not luz. IGNORING THAT. he was such a cardboard cutout of villainy in this special it was almost laughable. The intrigue was all there- the finale showing the gloop that escaped, and here seeing the weird possessed animals more and more throughout as well as flapjack’s weird behavior as we clue in to what’s going on, that’s all good! but the follow through? Belos possesses Hunter (cool, great! Awesome look and very spooky) - he. gets the titans blood to go back to the demon realm, for some reason… he kills flapjack just cause, while spouting lots of generic villain lines and taunts at luz…. and then he gets kicked out of hunter but just- leaves anyway? in his monster form again, so it’s unclear why he was a tiny gloop or possessing things this whole time at all? His motives were just so unclear throughout all of this, he felt like a prop just to facilitate hunter and luz angst rather than an actual character, and I honestly don’t see why they didn’t just make him some parasitic cursed remnant of belos that escaped the demon realm with them if this is how they were going to execute him being alive

like it still doesn’t register for me that belos is still alive and in the demon realm! it never sticks with me! Belos feels so done as a character I can’t even conceive of what they could possibly still need him around for. They already redid that moment in the finale fight, with belos-monster calling hunter caleb VS belos-hunter calling flapjack evelyn, and we’ve got closure with hunter and belos now even More, and luz only has the shallow conflict of guilt for connecting him to the collector, uhhhh and he failed the day of unity, so like. What else is there to even do with him???

this special is already very Halloween themed and it would make sooo much more sense overall if they reframed this special re: belos as about exorcising ghosts, metaphorically and also literally. the final battle is in a cemetery for crying out loud! be it belos’s ghost or a parasitic remnant or whatever, have that be the final obstacle both emotionally and literally for them to return home to save the boiling isles, and they put it to rest by putting aside their fear and guilt and Making A Choice! Hunter as he did in the episode choosing his own life and future! Luz choosing to fight for her demon home and demon family (preferably after a rewrite where she’d been grappling more with her feelings on being home, what she loved and missed vs hated, and whether they can even get back to the isles at all)

IDK! Other gripes were : that line at the end of the hay ride? Something something “lol I think little bro was mad his big bro got a HOT WITCH GIRLFRIEND LMAO” from the enby teen? Hated that. It took me out of the episode immediately and felt like such an obvious- I don’t know, writer insert, fandom insert line? it felt like the writers telling us that’s what we’re supposed to think and I also just think it’s. so boring to reduce the backstory we were JUST given / expanded upon to him being a stupid jealous incel or something. villains are (gasp) more interesting when they’re sympathetic? when you can see parts of them where you can understand how they reacted the way they did? if they wanted him to be a foil to luz and not just the Big Bad Emperor, we should understand how he reacted the way he did to witches even if we hate it. we should see that oh wow, he and his brother were orphans, his brother was essentially his parent / guardian, and then that brother disappears or seems to be kidnapped by these dangerous creatures from another realm, which witchhunters warned them about. However, unlike Luz or his brother, he spurned all the kindness found there and only saw the danger and monsters (and there is legitimate danger in the isles! it’s not a hospitable place!), and he gets so caught up in his own fear and hate that he lashes out at his seemingly bewitched brother, and he has no home left, and he latches onto this idea of killing all the evil that “took” his brother from him, and etc etc the show happens. Like that’s all so cool laying it out like that!!! and it opens up really intriguing possibilities for a special that instead involves laying his ghost to rest in whatever form that takes! (*disclaimer that does not in any way require forgiveness from the kids. relax)

there’s also willow and gus. While I could see and appreciate that the writers made sure they were never just standing in the background not doing anything and always had their own moments and quips, they’re also so clearly just accessories to the group right now. Willow, who I will admit I’m biased to, has really been reduced down to Confident Bombastic Friend and Object of Hunter’s Blushing (don’t. get me started on that), with zero trace of her shy and bullied past remaining. She never has any moments of relapse, which you might expect especially in the human realm which is so new and different for her, not even a moment where she hesitates and needs one of the gang to back her up and give her that nudge to shake off her nerves/doubts. she’s just completely confident and uncaring of others now, and they’re also sticking with the amity-willow sudden power couple from end of s2 where they’re completely okay (but that has more to do with their arc together as a whole, or rather the lack thereof, than this special specifically). There was definitely a lost opportunity to pair up Gus and Vee, as two Boiling Isles kids who adore the human realm, so Gus wasn’t stuck with only being Hunter’s emotional support and little bro (despite how I do love their dynamic). and of course for both of them but SUPER amity, who we actually know the family of very well, there was not nearly enough emphasis on what they’ve lost and how conflicting it must be to be trapped in another realm away from your family who is currently in danger but still be enjoying it so much. they did not feel the weight of not being able to go home maybe ever nearly enough at any point in this special, and I think that deserved at least one scene, maybe right before they discover the map from flapjack to the titans blood, to really feel hopeless and grieve

is almost any of that feasible given the restraints the show is currently under? No, probably not. did I still greatly enjoy the special? Yes, very much so! But there was definitely a lot more glaring flaws than I’m used to with The Owl House, and I’m hoping that doesn’t carry through to the remainder of the show, as cut short as it may be

Just saw episode 7 and wauw.

I don't know why but I always feel too stupid to follow this show. But I always come back because there is so much going on and I do enjoy watching all the manipulations and stuff happen.

Though it was not cool to use Ga On's past like that in the court room. And than that heartbreaking revelation in the prison! I wonder what that will to to Ga On.

Sun-ah is kinda cool, in a terrifying way. That last scene she had with the chairman, that beautiful white dress she wore( and how it was then stained red, so damn powerful). I instantly had the feeling that 'silencing her forever' would be a bad idea. Glad to know I was right. 😊

Ga on is sort of a ray of sunshine but not quite. He does have a dark side to him and I guess Judge Kang saw that almost instantly.

I think the only real ray of sunshine (for now) is Judge Oh

This show does take you for quite a ride, yes, and some things won't be answered/made final until the very last episode. But that also means that the rewatch value is pretty high, if you ask me. I found it very interesting to watch it a second time and see just how much my understanding of certain scenes changed.

And, tbh, it made Yo Han's characterisation even better for me. I tend to soak up details about people's behaviour and personalities like a sponge but, sometimes, I don't always know what all of it MEANS. Sometimes I need the full picture before all of it makes sense. And Yo Han was one of those characters. I couldn't be sure if my reading of his character was correct until the very last episode, because only then did I have all the (available) information and could formulate my final analysis.

But yeah! There are a lot of twists and turns! And it's wonderfully executed!

Yo Han using Ga On's parents' deaths to his advantage is one of those things that just... well, it sucks, plain and simple xD And I think Ga On has every right to be angry about that for YEARS to come, if he so wants to. It was a shitty move.

Ga On has it rough in episode 7. That poor boy.

Sun Ah is SPECTACULAR. But also very intimidating. I LOVE her as a character and how she's more or less the female equivalent of Yo Han, just with some added twists and nuances. Or he's the male equivalent of her — however you want to put it. They're mirrored, anyway. And I quite like that.

I do like that Ga On can be both soft and caring but also very, very dark. It gives him a lot of depth.

Oh Jin Joo is my QUEEN and yes, she's a ray of sunshine! She does have her moments too but, overall, she's just lovely.

with fukuchi I believe that he didn't get that much education/didn't value it as a kid but as he got older he was like "hey this is sick" and just went DEEP into it. like he got into the military and as he lived on the base he started getting into Knowledge and Education more and. yeah. idk it might just be personal to me but also... yeah.

untapped comedy potential with teruko in restaurants. "hey why is this six year old ordering a 40 dollar 4 pound steak."

uh WITH JOUNO!!! with his sight I saw that someone thought that his blindness came with the side effects of the surgeries but again we don't really know... we don't know what the surgeries entail or what his whole background is. only god, asagiri, and hurakawa know.

anyway. with jounos personality me n my friend have an idea that it's a "superiority complex covering up an inferiority complex." his blindness could been an insecurity he has but again. we don't really know. AND!!! ROUGH ADJUSTMENT!!! from being an executive in a crime ring with the mindset of "there is a strict hierarchy and you are above your subordinates" to the military's "there is a strict hierarchy but you all work as one unit. cooperate or die" had to be a weird adjustment.

and tecchou! I don't really have much to add but I do believe that tecchou is a soldier through n through. just how he acts and his almost blind loyalty/obedience it just... .... hrrr yknow.

another thing about tecchou: I also don't think he liked school that much 😭 I. don't know why I think this it's just kinda. yeah.

i like what you are saying for fukuchi!! i’d love to see his passion kick in while he’s working in the military. from the few flashbacks we have seen we definitely know he has the potential for passion but was likely very distracted by his ultimate goal. i’d love to see more of his behind-the-scenes planning over time. he said he got the sign 36 years prior which would make him a kid, i wonder if he didn’t know what it meant until he was given the amenogozen? hmm. not sure. that’s a ramble for another time. but i’d like to see more about him studying and stuff as well!!

and YOURE SO RIGHT about there being hidden potential for teruko. she’s definitely gotten so many "kids _____ free" things because of it. she’s very lucky for that aspect

and about jouno. i’d want to say he lost his sight before joining the hunting dogs? since the one flashback panel we seen his eyes were still closed. if we take into account that his heightened senses were caused by going blind (he said "i can see a lot more now that i’ve lost my sight" to dazai in his intro scene); i’d assume the surgeries don’t do all the enhancement.

the wording here implies he already had his senses prior to becoming a hunting dog. that’s not to say the surgeries don’t enhance them further though.

i’d love to see jouno learn to adjust to the hunting dogs environment. like that would make me so happy it’s the thing i want most in bsd right now. i’m actually writing my own interpretation of it soon hehe. anyway i imagine he accepted the offer as to avoid punishment for his crimes, i want to see the change in mentality he gets over time so badly. idk i just. love jouno so much i want more focus on him.

i like your complex idea as well! never really thought too deep into it. maybe jouno feels less than the other hunting dogs because he wasn’t always good? i wonder if fukuchi’s words will get to him and he will feel lesser because of it. i want more character development for him please omg. i want him to be reassured that he is good now by tetchou please omg.

i kinda agree with the tetchou bit as well. he’s not fantastic socially from what we’ve seen, it probably made connecting to people at school hard. he was probably easy to get along with but not overly close with anyone. that’s how i felt about him at least!!

Pokémon Reborn Screenshot Let's Play: Chapter 5

Welcome back once again! I hope the season has been treating everyone well, I’ve certainly been having a fun time, and it’s about to get even more fun because I’m back here to play some more Pokémon! Specifically this fan game! Because people still appear to be enjoying this playthrough, despite my nature as a casual player coming in to bite me on more than one occasion (I’m sure this will not change as the game progresses).

Last time, we didn’t get a ton of plot progression done (save for the very end, technically), but this time…

(Future Edit: Well, this time’s gonna be VERY different. Because this chapter is technically incomplete- it’s part of a double-feature! The first part of an exciting two-parter! What in the world am I talking about? Well, er- let me explain…)

(See, in this most recent play session, some MEATY plot progression happens, and I thought “hey, I’ll go a bit longer to give the people story stuff after two chapters of mostly filler”, yeah? But I severely underestimated just how big this story beat was…by like a lot. The number of parts for what would have been just this one chapter was building up, lot of images and screenshots, it would have exceeded the amount of links you’re allowed to put on one Tumblr post, and I think it was making Google Docs (where I write the rough versions of these chapters) and Firefox crash?)

(And if you think I could just leave the area, go to the Pokémon Center to save and exit, all that jazz, uh- I can’t. I think it’s one of those events where you can’t really leave the area until you’ve done what needs to be done, you can’t just leave and come back, if you know what I mean. And like- I wasn’t planning on leaving anyways, again, it was like “I’ll do this plot thing then close out the chapter”, but yet again!! I didn’t realize what I was making Xera walk into!)

(So, for both technical reasons and to make sure it wouldn’t take a month to get any new content to all of you, I made the executive decision to split this chapter into two- Chapters 5 and 6. Chapter 5 is going up today- obviously- but Chapter 6 will be finished and put together at a later date. But until then, at least, you’ll all have this to tide yourselves over with! Just keep all of these outside circumstances in mind if things and commentary seem a little more anachronistic than usual- that’ll likely explain why. Never let it be said I’m not transparent with readers about how scuffed this Let’s Play is sometimes.)

But before we can get to ANY of that- how about a recap of what did happen in the last chapter?

The chapter was set to a backdrop of the game’s first weather event in the form of Rain, boosting Water-type moves and weakening Fire-type moves- both a help and hindrance to the team.

Xera goes to Seacrest’s Garden again to catch Summer the Sunkern for the upcoming battle against local Electric-type Gym Leader Julia.

Going into a nearby apartment building, Xera sees a boy trying to heal an injured Skitty. She gives an Oran Berry to the boy’s grandma, who passes it on to her grandson to successfully heal the Skitty. Since the boy is too young to be able to raise a Pokémon himself, the grandma asks if Xera would be willing to take in Skitty, which she accepts. The Skitty is named Whiskers.

Xera explores the central area of Peridot Ward, battling Trainers and training up Summer and Whiskers along the way.

There’s a guy in one house who is willing to trade away a pink Pokémon of some sort for a Bibarel. We make a note of this for later, maybe.

Xera learns from a few NPCs that Jasper Ward- a ward of Reborn City that is Peridot Ward’s northern neighbor- has been completely locked down for unknown reasons.

In a nearby tunnel, Xera does parkour to obtain an item called a Data Chip. No idea what this is for right now.

Interacting with a murky fountain, Xera encounters Rain the Surskit…but catching her was delayed (i.e. we had to reset) due to a lack of Poké Balls during this initial encounter.

There appears to be conflict between Trainers on the “West Side” of Peridot Ward and those on the “East Side.” Xera goes through the west side first, battling those Trainers along the way.

Xera finds the woman with the disobedient Stufful again. Despite having several Common Candies by now, the woman will not use them due to the belief that candy is bad for Pokémon. No idea how to solve her Stufful problem in that case.

Next to an abandoned building, Xera finds a young man with mint-green hair interrogating a person in an armored suit. However, as Xera walks up to see what is happening, the suited man is able to escape the mint-haired person.

The mint-haired guy is named Fern, and he is this game’s third rival. Fern doesn’t take kindly to Xera interrupting his interrogation of the suited man, who he claims is the culprit behind the Grandview Station bombing. Blaming Xera for the culprit getting away, Fern forces her into a Pokémon battle.

Turns out, we’re underleveled for this! Fern’s team of Lv. 13-14 Pokémon does a number on Xera’s Lv. 11 team. Since I don’t want any of Xera’s Pokémon to lose to someone as arrogant as Fern, we reset so Xera can go do some more training before attempting to challenge Fern again.

And so, that’s where we are now. Our first priority is to head to the east area of Peridot Ward and challenge the East Side Trainers, which should hopefully get the party to where it needs to be so we can not only defeat Fern, but do so without letting him have the satisfaction of knocking out any of Xera’s Pokémon in turn. He’ll see- they’ll ALL see! EVERYONE’S GONNA SEE! So, without further ado, let’s get going!

(Future Edit: For this particular chapter, the split won’t really affect anything besides the stuff that usually goes at the very end- eh, you’ll see what I mean when you get there.)

Hey, requesting a ramble; given the chance what singular thing would you change about Fairy Tale as a show?

What would you change about the fandom?

Blessed with the ability to ramble I'm gonna answer these out of order because one I want to actually go off about and the other I'm trying so hard not to be too negative with.

The fandom itself, I'm surprised to find, is still alive. Mostly for the manga, 100 Year Quest, and the Gajeel spin off apparently. Super cool love that for y'all.

But I think the general Fairy Tail fandom is very... Boring?

I don't want to be mean! Everyone has the right to enjoy fandom however they want of course! This is an attack on no one! Live your life! I love and respect you so much!!

Just like. 90% of the active fandom are infatuated with Natsu/Lucy exclusively, which I don't get at all. Coming from My Hero Academia, I saw how big the cast of this program was and really expected everyone to have their little Blorbo guy with their own niche content. Blurry screen caps and low quality images with "There he is the scrimblo!!" kind of nonsense.

Instead the entire place only cares about the Main Guys Smooching. There's no crack ships, there's no Tono Rabbits Stan accounts, there's no Some Gremlin Blorbo from my shows background character lovers and it's Really jarring?? And boring. Y'all boring.

If I could change anything about the fandom, I'd ask y'all to pick A Guy (gender neutral) and go rabid for them. There's so many guys of so many types in this program. Please fawn over someone other than the main 7.

Okay I'm worried about this post being annoying and too long so what I'd change about the show itself is going under a Read More

Really I want to change a LOT about the program itself. The execution, the treatment of most female characters, everything with Lisanna, the lore behind Magic, the Morals behind Magic. There's a lot to unpack here.

But if I absolutely had to pick one thing to change it's be the character's ages.

I found out recently that Mirajane is 19 in canon. Cana is 18. The oldest woman in the Guild before the 7 year time skip was Evergreen at 20. TWENTY. That's how old Bisca is when she gives birth to Asuka!! (roughly. Asuka doesn't have a canon age but she's somewhere between 5-6 based on how she acts)

I'm twirling this show's timeline on a fork like Spaghetti these girls are going to be 20+ and you're going to like it.

Here's my rough concept so far (this is for the beginning of the series, the wiki list their ending ages, after the two different 1 year time skips and the 7 year stasis)

I want to make Natsu the oldest of the dragon raised dragon slayers, but still roughly the same age as Grey. I'm thinking 23 or 24 for the both of them, with Gajeel close behind at 22, and Laxus just ahead at 25 or 26.

Lucy I want to be the youngest current member, so she can stay at 17-18, but I also want Erza to be young compared to the Raised By The Guild squad, so she's 19, maybe? Levy's 20-21, Cana's 23, and Juvia is 19-20, like Erza.

Mira gets the most change because I just think she should be pushing 30, maybe 27 or 28. Elfman about 3 or 4 years younger at 24 or 25, to keep him Grey/Natsu aged. Lisanna has about the same age gap, 3 or 4 years, making her somewhere between 20 and 22.

I really jangled up the Thunder Legion because apparently Bickslow is the oldest at 22 in canon. He's still 22 in this version but now he's the Thunder Baby. I wanted to keep Freed around the same age as Laxus, so 25, and Evergreen the same age as Mira, maybe a tad younger at 26-27. I like the idea of Bickslow being the youngest anyway, he's big but young and it fits with his personality. I'm tempted to make him 18, but your 20's are age of being dumb anyway so it's fine.

Macao and Wakaba are in their mid 30's at the beginning of the series, Reedus in his early 30's on par with Mira maybe older, with Warren, Max, and Mest all near mid 20's I think. I don't have exact numbers for them because I don't really know if they're meant to be Natsu's peers or not, but they all seem pretty young and stupid. Jet and Droy are the same-ish age as Levy, 20-22, with Jet being a year younger than them.

Wendy's hard because apparently she's 12 when we meet her, but she doesn't change at all in the next 2 years, which simply isn't how being on the cusp of puberty works. But I don't have as much wiggle room as I do with everyone else sense she's at the stage where she should be growing a lot so I'll just keep her 12-13.

Unrelated but Sting and Rouge being the same age as Wendy is the reason I hate the 7 year stasis thing. We deserve more age diversity in dragon slayers, I say. They can't all be a brisk 18, that's boring. Also how old is Erik??? Genuine question I cannot get a read on him.

The exceeds are also hard but it bothers me that supposedly they all hatched at the same time when they were supposed to be an entire lost generation (which for humans is about 20 years, cats about 2 years). Unfortunately I don't have a scale for how long they are expected to live, what their incubation period is like, how long their infancy to adulthood is, if Happy and Carla are even considered child bearing aged adults in their society at their canon age of 6, etc.

Still I think there should be a few years or so between them, so in order oldest to youngest of Earthland born Exceeds it's goes; Carla, Samuel, Lector, Happy, and Frosch. Also I wanna add right here unrelated to anything, Nadi is my second favorite Exceed, right behind Samuel. I love them.

I realize this causes a collection of problems with how the timeline reads, but considering the constant usage of 7 years never really came up in a meaningful way I am more than happy to tear that consistency apart.

I don’t like Respawn. I think the newest Wilson sibling is f*cking ridiculous as a concept and poorly executed as a character. I liked the idea of, say, a Slade clone, and there was potential for that in the first arc of the current Robin book, but then it’s revealed that kid is the long lost half-brother to Damian through his mother? What? Why? Like, Ra’s made Respawn by combining Talia’s egg with Slade's sperm. That ties Damian to Deathstroke tighter than anything Dick ever had with The Terminator but why, though? I like Ravager. She’s dope. Ma has earned her place in the pantheon of DC heroes and villains. Respawn has not. He’s a try-hard edgelord with misdirected anger toward Damian for reasons that are not clear. That’s dumb. Sure, the torture is a thing but that was Ra’s not Damian. This is the same sh*t with Broly and Goku. Interestingly enough, i don’t like Z Broly either, for a lot of the same reasons i don’t like Respawn. Beyond that, why does he look IDENTICAL to the Wayne heir? Damian looks like his dad. That’s canon. Bruce is not Respawn’s father, Slade Wilson is. Shouldn’t this nothing of a character look like Deathstroke or, at the very least, Jericho? This the sh*t that frustrates the f*ck out of me about the modern US comic industry.

The Respawn problem isn’t an isolated event. In the past few years, i had to deal with The Batman Who Laughs, all of those stupid Dark Night events, and f*cking Punchline. Holy sh*t, i forgot about Punchline! She was Respawn before Respawn. Imagine a fifteen year old’s wet dream given life and you have Punchline.I’ve written at length about how cheap the busty Asian goth chick is and don’t want to rehash that entire essay but, suffice it to say, Punchline is trash. DC has a very rough go of it as of late but it’s not like Marvel is free from this bullsh*t. They killed Hickman’s X-Men run and that sh*t was actually decent. It was positioned to be a new status quo, for a time anyway, and i was looking forward to the future of that brand. The X-Men haven’t been interesting in a decade and Hickman made them relevant again... Until Marvel f*cked that up and they didn’t stop there. Spencer came through, fixed the damage Queseda and OMD did to Spider-Man, only for for Zeb Wells to f*ck it up in one issue. And don’t get me started on whatever the f*ck they’re doing to Ben Reilly now. Chasm? Really? Like, being Pete Parker, and his clones, is torment. That Parker Luck is mad strong but Chasm? I’m not a fan of Ben, not even way back in the Nineties during this dude’s prime, but come on? The Beyond arc was mediocre at best and absolutely unnecessary, especially as an origin story for whatever the next depressing ass phase is in the Punished Ben’s life. Spider-Man doesn’t need another edgelord clone. Kaine is a thing already.

It’s nuts to me that comics are so pedestrian nowadays considering how much creative potential lies on the page. Like, not all of these things suck ass, you know? I really enjoyed The Wicked + The Divine. Most of the White Knight stuff is really good. I mentioned Spencer’s run on Spider-Man and Hickman’s initial start on X-Men already. Something is Killing the Children continues to keep me enthralled. The IDW Transformer stuff is actually excellent and so is The Last Ronin. There is a lot of good out there to be had but the market is absolutely saturated by straight trash, man. For every IDW Sonic comic, there’s fifty or so Jon Kent Superman variants and i hate it. The US comic industry is f*cking dying and I don't think it's coming back. Everything is so f*cking bad nowadays. No one knows what the f*ck to do with Tim Draker. Respawn is a bad character. Chasm is even worse. US comics are full of mediocre characters and even worse writing. Like, have you actually read Crossed? Or The Boys? Occasionally, I'm surprised by something but that is getting more and more rare as time goes on. Thank god for manga, man. At least those things are still allowed to be as unique and creative as they want. I do like Flatline, though. She’s adorable!

Yakkid - Akiyama Asagao

So this is one of those angst storylines I was talking about. Fair warning.

TW : late term pregnancy loss

So. Remember how I said there were eight?

Remember how I mentioned wanting to share some of the angst bits?

Maybe I should clarify, I meant eight living kids. She would have been the second born in the poly verse, and/or eldest of Akiyama's, had she made it that far. Unfortunately she was lost, at around 29-30 weeks.

Asagao, was, unexpected. And stirred up a lot of very complicated feelings in both Aki and Kimi.

Neither expected for Kimi to get pregnant as quickly or easily as she did. Or at all for that matter. Much like Kichi, she was the result of multiple layers of birth control failing at once.

While scared, Kimi grew attached very quickly, and was quite excited to expand their little family.

Aki? Not so much. Oh he'd never say so, or even let on in anyway, but he was nervous to say the least. The whole thing had him on edge. He in no way felt prepared for it. He wasn't going to leave them, but he was definitely smothering some negativity.

He'd just barely started to come around later in the pregnancy. Watching her, and her excitement, grow, was gradually winning him over and he was starting to feel the joy she did.

And this is where everything went to shit.

Someone decided that using her to force Akiyama to bend was the way to go. Unfortunately for everyone this didn't quite pan out. Things got out of hand, and Kimi ended up more battered than intended. While she was ultimately recovered, the baby didn't make it.

Her stay in the hospital was rough on everyone, and Aki had to juggle supporting her with dealing with his own guilt. Guilt stemming from multiple sources. They have something of an argument at some point, about it not in fact being his fault, and no he doesn't get to make executive decisions "for her own good".

She named the baby, a girl, Asagao, morning glory, representing brief love.

The whole thing makes Akiyama rather gun-shy when it comes to the idea of having kids. He gets a vasectomy and that's that.

Except it isn't. Cause in her 30s, in an even more ridiculous fluke (befitting of RGG), Kimi's birth control fails, and Aki is informed his vasectomy at some point reversed itself. And so the twins are born. It's bittersweet but the family ends up happy.
