i really need more willow modern aus, because most of the fics on ao3 are canon compliant (which are GREAT do not get me wrong) but the potential that tanthamore has for modern aus... hear me out:

actor au: where both of them are very famous actresses who HATE each other. Jade hates how Kit is a nepobaby and she has gotten to act in some of the greatest films in the last year, she believes it's just because she's the daughter of Sorsha (old Hollywood star). Jade hasn't actually stopped and watched any of Kit's films so she doesn't know that Kit is actually a great actress. Jade on the contrary had to do everything on her own, she has built her career slowly but gaining a great reputation. Kit on the other hand, wouldn't use the word HATE to describe what she feels for Jade, she feels a bit of anger because every time she has tried to interact with her, Jade was a bit rude (not in a mean way, more like in an indifferent kind) and she was a bit disappointed because everyone always says how Jade Claymore is the nicest actress in Hollywood. So she has built this resentment towards Jade. And this is where the fun part starts, both of them get casted in this fantasy show (winky face) where they play girlfriends, and rumors start to appear about how "JADE CLAYMORE AND KIT TANTHAMORE RIVALS ON SET LOVERS ON FILM????" "TENSION ON THE WILLOW SET", which according to their publicists is. not. good. So, behind Jade and Kit they decide that the girls have to start a fake relationship, obviously at the beginning both of them refuse but they know rumors in Hollywood fly fast, and that's not good for their careers. And they have no other choice but to accept. And so many things happen but I do not have that much imagination rn to finish it but you get the memo.

lovers to strangers: kit tanthamore and jade claymore were the ones who were supposed to make it after high school and became the so called high school sweethearts, or that’s what the people on their yearbook said. They didn't though. They broke up at the end of the summer after high school, no one knows why but them. One day they were together and the next Jade was leaving Tir Asleen and Kit was starting business school to help her mom with the family business. They stopped talking, Jade barely answered texts from their group and Kit stayed. At the end, trying to talk to Jade got harder and harder so they (Airk, Elora and Graydon) stopped trying. Five years later and Elora and Graydon are getting married, they started dating a year after they started college and year and few months after Elora and Airk's break up where they realized they loved each other just not romantically. They didn't want to do that to Airk but the chemistry was there and it happened so naturally (they hid it for a few months [kit knew from the beginning] and one day Airk caught them and said "omg finally I thought you two were never going to realize" to which Graydon and Elora are actually SHOCKED because "what do you mean????" and Airk was like "??? you two have been in love for almost a year didn’t you know?" to "WE THOUGHT YOU WOULDNT WANT US TO??" to "why wouldn’t I??? ... ohhhh, yeah idc babes") and even though they haven't talked to Jade in almost 5 years, they send her an invitation just in case, kit is not going to find out she’s obviously not gonna com- oh shit she said she’s coming. And she does, she comes back the week before the wedding with a very pretty girl (she brought a plus one?) and kit is one day just walking around town and she sees her and she is texting the group chat "I need to go to the doctor I think I just saw jade around town lol" and the other three are like "... you might want to sit down for this one" so chaos begins. Kit has never gotten over Jade, and neither has Jade, but none of them know that because there's a girl with her, but the girl is obviously Scorpia???? she brought her to have someone to help her through the week of coming back to her hometown, seeing her ex (the one she dated in high school and has never gotten over her because she thought she was the love of her life), and her old friends without crumbling down. This fic would be the type of fanfic that has lots of flashbacks to high school and throughout those five years. Also Scorpia would be seen flirting with Boorman (that one guy Kit met while working with her mother who is a bit weird but everyone loves him) and they’re like "How dare she flirt with Jade in front of her" and Jades is totally unfazed because obviously doesn’t care ???

These two are the ones i think about the most so yeah :D might try one day to write them but probably not because writting is not my strongest suit.

Now the question is, if adventure-swap!LU met normal!LU, what would their reactions be, and who pairs up to cause the most chaos?

I’m so excited for this question because I have SO MANY ideas for the classic LU cast meeting the AS group

One of the big scenarios I had in mind was some weird portal shenanigans resulting in one of the LU group being swapped with the AS group, but I have a whole writing idea for how that would go. Let’s say that the full groups met one another for this one (I’ll save the single person getting swapped for another post).

(Just for clarity’s sake, I’m gonna use the alt nicknames for the swap guys. Sky is Cloud, Four is Champ, Time is Lily, Legend is Cryptid, Hyrule is Bard, Twi is Soul, Wind is Addie, Wars is Barren, and Wild is Loft)

Firstly, the two groups would be very suspicious of one another. Why wouldn’t they be? There’s nothing not suspicious about seeing yourselves but slightly to the left. Assuming the two groups manage to figure out what’s going on before they resort to blows, though, here’s how I think everyone would get along:

Sky and Cloud get along swimmingly! Cloud is tired and just wants to get away from the chaos for a little bit, and Sky is content to just chat. Cloud mentions his engagement to his Sun, which makes Sky a bit flustered (he and his own Sun aren’t quite there yet). They also show off their woodcarvings! Cloud is enamored with the carvings Sky’s done of his loftwing, and is delighted to hear about life in Skyloft. In return, he talks about his time living in his era’s Castle Town!

Four and Champ get along pretty well too. Champ is admittedly much more impulsive than Four, but Four recognizes a lot of Champ’s odd behaviors as things he used to do before his own colors were more in sync. He wishes he could give advice to him on how to deal with it, but in reality it’s a matter of time. There’s no instant solution for feeling like a single person again, it just takes time and cooperation. Despite how well they get along, Four almost throttles Champ after witnessing him shatter a blade just like Wild does. Poor Four is despairing at the loss of the poor innocent blade that was lost at Champ’s hands, meanwhile Champ is just like “yeah, I’m cursed. I hate it too.”

Lily’s first impression of Time was not great. Lily wouldn’t be caught dead in full plate, no siree. Enchanted clothes only. Thankfully, Time is not a snob like he feared, and they have many more similarities than differences. They spend 5 hours straight talking about their own Malons and how much they love her. Lily also shares some eyepatches with Time, just for fun. They bond over their love of the simple farm life and the joy of occasional chaos.

Legend and Cryptid start bantering right away, making fun of the other and bonding through that. Cryptid teases him for not committing to the pink hair and compares him to a dragon with all that jewelry. Legend mocks how impractical Cryptid’s refusal to wear shoes is and starts calling him “dolphin boy” after he makes a strange inhuman sound. All of that comes crashing down when Cryptid offhandedly mentions his girlfriend, and when Legend asks he admits that it’s Marin. Seeing his reaction to the name, Cryptid hesitantly asks if he has someone named Ravio (he does). The two promptly stop talking, not wanting to face the feelings that come with the other getting to keep the person they’re mourning.

Hyrule and Bard wander off together and have a grand time together, just exploring and pointing out things. The Twilights end up having to track them down and bring them back later, but it’s worth it! Bard also teaches Hyrule some songs. Hyrule’s not very good at it, but he’s having a great time playing along! Hyrule, in return, teaches him how to brew all sorts of teas with herbs he can forage. They wander off again and fly around together as fairies, and are even joined by Proxi (much to Barren’s worry, he doesn’t like having her gone when he’s dealing with so many unknown factors).

Twilight and Soul spend a lot of time trying to keep the Fours, Hyrules, and Wilds from wandering off (and Soul is annoyed that Barren isn’t helping him like usual). They do talk about their families back home, and about life on the ranch. They also go for a run together as wolves when they track down the Hyrules. It’s great, but it did give Twilight a scare when Soul transformed way too close to the rest of the group. What if he’d gotten seen!? As it turns out, Soul’s entire group already knows he can turn into a wolf, whereas only a few know for Twilight. That adds some stress to Twi’s shoulders, since he knows that any one of Soul’s group could let his secret out. Soul asks Midna to tell the others not to mention it, and she gets Proxi to help for those who can’t see her. Speaking of Midna, he doesn’t bring her up to Twilight. Twi brings her up and proceeds to angst about his broken heart and Soul is awkwardly sitting there while his own Midna is just vibing on his shoulder.

Wind and Addie start telling each other stories immediately. Everyone else is relieved, because if those two weren’t so entertained telling one another stories, then they’d undoubtedly be causing trouble. Unfortunately for everyone, they do get bored of storytelling eventually. Pranks ensue. Nobody is safe. They accept no alliances with the Wilds or Times, the only partner in crime is each other, everyone else is a potential target.

Warriors and Barren are cautious of one another. The others are so similar to each other, but Warriors is clean and pristine and Barren has tattered clothes and a near permanent smudge of dirt on his face. Warriors can see that the rest of the swapped group behaves very similarly to his own team, but Barren seems so different from himself and the uncertainty keeps him on edge. Barren meanwhile is already on edge from all the new factors he has to account for, and this pristine version of himself has him on extremely high alert. The two do talk and ease up a bit. They might be outwardly very different, but they find that they’re actually not so different once they get chatting. Warriors does get backhanded across the face after trying to give Barren a friendly pat on the back, though Barren apologizes and has Proxi heal it (not that it’s needed, but it’s more a way to show he’s sorry for hitting him). Needless to say, the rest of the group is made aware of Barren’s strict no-touching policy very quickly.

Finally, Wild and Loft! They are so prepared to cause chaos together. They run off but are eventually herded back to the group by the Twilights. They have a great time comparing weapons. Mostly it’s Wild showing off, since Loft won’t even hold a sword other than Fi. Loft even gets to play with his slate, and is very excited to discover that the Fours are magnetic. He spends way too much time flinging Champ around with the magnesis (which Champ doesn’t actually mind, he and the colors fling each other around on the regular). Wild and Loft make a game of seeing how high they can fling Champ into the sky (don’t worry, he can glide down). It only ends when they try to rope a very unwilling Four into their competition (and when Addie gets caught trying to pickpocket Wild’s slate to give it a try himself). The Times put a stop to it.

Now, what about the interactions between people who share the same adventures?

Sky and Loft talk about home, mostly. They’re curious about how different Skyloft is between the two of them, and find more similarities than differences. Loft is also very curious about how Sky’s early adventure went, seeing as he doesn’t remember pulling Fi. All he remembers is waking up on the surface, aching and confused. They also talk happily about their loftwings, and Loft is amazed by Sky’s crimson loftwing! Back in his era, it’s actually Flora who has the unique crimson loftwing!

Four and Soul complain about Vaati, but Four is also enamored with Midna. He’d seen her resting on Soul’s shoulder from the moment they first met, but now he gets to interact with her personally! She’s absolutely hilarious, a little bundle of sass and nonstop comments. Four is impressed with Soul’s poker face, he doesn’t think he’d be able to stand it! They have a very tiny adventure together, though it’s mostly just walking around. The world seems entirely different when you’re so small!

Time and Bard have a long talk about what they faced. Bard already really looks up to Lily, so meeting a version of him that has lived through the same adventure is incredible. He really looks up to Time, and wants all sorts of advice. How does he handle full moons after what happened? How does he sleep without magic helping him? How did he heal? How did he get through the nightmare of being 17 again and feeling like every cell in your body is wrong? Time does his best to answer, but sadly some of it is just waiting. He does try to offer some coping techniques, and insists that Bard try to find some people he can talk to. It will be hard, but it’ll help.

Legend is pissed at Addie for messing with him and his stuff during his pranks earlier, but eventually relents and the two compare items from various adventures. They compare the look, feel, and abilities of their various weapons, rods, and rings. They don’t talk about their adventures (though Addie does try to bring it up at one point), and instead stick with the much safer topics of items. They’re both enchantment enthusiasts, after all!

Hyrule and Barren don’t really have much to talk about at first. It’s kinda awkward. Barren does ask Hyrule about having visions, but is disappointed to find that Hyrule doesn’t have anything like that (and he proceeds to not bring it up again, recalling how Bard was very concerned about his visions and not wanting to have Hyrule worry about him either). Words don’t work so well, but you don’t really need words to go adventuring. They head off to explore the area together, with Barren’s team assuring Hyrule’s that Barren will bring them back without incident and before dinner. Out in the wilderness there’s no awkwardness, just their own wanderlust and love of nature.

Twilight and Cryptid don’t really have much to share about. Cryptid is already defensive and unwilling to talk about his adventure after learning Legend still lives with Ravio (and by the golden three, that hurts. He can’t help but imagine the little Twili living with him and Marin in his home). Trying to find a topic that won’t make Cryptid tell him to fuck off is tricky. He doesn’t want to talk about his family, he doesn’t want to talk about his adventure, he doesn’t want to talk about his transformations… Finally they settle on talking about their houses. Twilight talks about his ranch, and Cryptid opens up about the modifications he plans to make to his own home to allow Marin to live there more comfortably. That leads to some comfortable conversation that bounces between topics, going from their homes to their Zeldas to their future plans and more.

Wind and Lily both agree that all the walking they’re forced to do sucks and that this whole ordeal would be better if they travelled by boat. They talk about their families, about their respective Zeldas (Wind is enthralled by the stories of Captain Sheik and their particular brand of craziness, while Lily is intrigued by the similarities and differences between his own captain and Captain Tetra). They also talk about their sisters. Wind raves about how awesome and fierce little Aryll is, while Lily fondly recalls how sweet and cheerful Saria is. They share trinkets they have from their families (Wind’s telescope, Lily’s embroidered eyepatches), and all in all have a great chat! (And maybe they sing a sea shanty or two, since nobody else wants to do it with them)

Warriors and Cloud avoid talking about the worst parts of their respective wars and keep it to the lighter side. Cloud happily talks about his engagement (though Cia does briefly come up in this conversation, though the topic is quickly buried because neither really want to talk about her). They have a sort of camaraderie together that reminds them of the army! Warriors talks about his general Impa, and Cloud talks about how incredible Groose was by his side. They talk about their Zeldas and how they fought alongside one another, and talk about their hobbies outside of their job. Cloud does woodcarving and tends to his cuccos (which Warriors thinks is crazy). Warriors, meanwhile, is a big fan of sewing and has started working on embroidery. Both know they need to get more hobbies, and bounce ideas back and forth. They also take some time to spar one another, which both builds that sense of camaraderie, and is overall just really fun!

Wild and Champ hit a roadblock pretty quickly when Wild learns that Champ retained his memories. He loosened up a bit when Champ explains that the shrine of resurrection split his soul into pieces (though he doesn’t elaborate on what precisely that means). Once they get past that hurdle, talking about their absolutely batshit shenanigans is a blast. Shield surfing, trying to ride a molduga, jumping off mountaintops, and all sorts of other wacky things. A lot of the insanity Wild has done, Champ has also done in some capacity (and vise versa). Anyone listening in silently agrees to never let these two run off alone together.

Randy has an interest in the performing arts! Specifically theatre, but he also dabbles in close up magic tricks (his last name is a pun on Hat Trick after all lmao).

Randy’s character was inspired by Swiper from Dora the Explorer and Pete in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. They both tend to play antagonistic, even villainous roles, but aren’t actually evil, and will actually help the main characters out every so often. Though, in Randy’s case, it takes him a bit to get to that point.

CatNap is the only one of the critters that Randy never really becomes friends with. They might have moments of mutual understanding, but in general, the best they get to is being willing to work together towards a common goal. Like, if someone was being mean to their friend, they’d work together to beat the shit out of that guy.

Randy’s favorite food is pasta. It’s also the only food he knows how to cook, for some reason.

Randy is very genre savvy. If he recognizes a common trope in a situation he’ll lampshade the hell out of it.

Randy is Gay!

Rozzie names all her instruments. When asked about this, she’ll respond with, “What? You don’t?”

Rozzie’s oldest and favorite instrument is a Spanish guitar she named Salma.

Rozzie’s often gets her name mispronounced as “Rosie.” It used to bother her a lot, but nowadays she doesn’t really care.

She often struggles to come up with lyrics for songs. The melody and instrumentation come a lot easier to her.

Once, she stayed up late trying to write lyrics for a song, and somehow, CatNap caught wind of it and appeared in her house to convince her to go to sleep. It scared the shit out of her, and she still has no idea how CatNap got into her house.

Rozzie’s favorite food is cherry pie.

Clever and Bubba have a bit of a rivalry. Not nearly as bad as CatNap and Randy, but enough to cause occasional wacky science hijinks. In her hypothetical debut episode of the hypothetical cartoon, they would actually have known each other prior to said episode.

Clever is secretly jealous of Bubba, as he’s able to make friends relatively easily, something Clever struggles with. Her jealousy is part of what fuels her half of the rivalry. Good luck getting her to admit it, though.

Clever has a tendency to refer to people by their last name instead of their first name, out of a desire to seem more “proper.” The closer she is to someone, the more likely she is to call them by their first name.

Clever’s favorite drink is hot chocolate. She drinks the stuff like it’s coffee. Or alcohol. Whatever’s funnier for the scenario.

Clever is very smart, except when it comes to her and other people’s emotions. She is not very good at comforting people, but she tries.

Clever’s goggles are a comfort item for her. She only takes them off to sleep.

GobyGills gained his legs after finding a magic pearl on the seafloor. Not realizing it was magical, he made a wish to explore somewhere new, and the pearl granted it by giving him legs and sending him to land.

Goby needs the pearl to transform between his legged form and tail form. If he loses the pearl, he’s stuck in whatever form he was in when he lost it, until he finds it again.

Goby struggled with walking when he first arrived on land. Even after learning to walk, he’s still very clumsy, often tripping over nothing. He’s much more nimble underwater.

Goby looks up to Bubba for his intelligence.

Goby mispronounces words a lot. This annoys Bubba greatly, though he tries not to show it. There’s a running gag of the other critters accidentally using the mispronounced words.

Goby’s favorite food changes every week. In his words, “They’re all just so good! How could I pick?”

most of my ocs have a rage button when it comes to their hang-ups or flaws if people intentionally bat at the wasp's nest, and they all react in various ways. but achille's rage button deals with his mixed heritage, his mother, and himself. he's the quickest one to anger, or at times, black out in extreme rage

he doesn't know his mother tauvane very well, as much as he tries to connect with her now despite of her unforgiveable crimes, and he doesn't know why she abandoned him, his adoptive father chiron never divulged the details of how he found him. don't even mention his birth father, achille has no idea who he could possibly be. achille grew up in the north shroud for the first half of his life and was subjected to bullying, discrimination, and ostracization from other children and adults alike because of his ears and his familial ties to chiron, an ala mhigan. he internalized what the adults would whisper about him, about the whore who was too ashamed to raise a child like him

he wanted to think that his mother gave him up out of love, but after she attacked him and almost ripped his eye out as a teenager, achille has had conflicted feelings about her ever since. so his childhood wasn't as great as achille led others to believe, but he doesn't like to talk about it. talking about it gets him riled up, and talking about it reminds him of how he can't truly fit in anywhere

achille has had a lot of moments where he couldn't hold back his rage he botled up inside, but the last time achille got truly enraged was more recent: when he finally met his maternal family in ishgard. he found out he had more family beyond chiron and his mother, and he was so excited to finally meet them and get to know them. but he was wrong

in the one time he visited ishgard, he'll never go back because tauvane's family treated him far worse than the childhood bullies he ran away from. to be rejected outright and lose the connections he could've made, the family he always dreamed of, tore him up on the inside. it got to the point where achille attacked his cousin apolloix for the degrading and racist treatment he received throughout the visit

achille doesn't like it when it gets angry—once he passes that point of no return, the jovial and cheeky achille his friends know and love is replaced with a stranger with bloodied fists, bared teeth and wild fury in his eyes

and ryan x taylor! I'm so excited for this one - so, you know how they got sort of an open ending, not explicitly said if they end up together or not, aside from kissing on the train before she left for paris, and those smiles at each other at seth and summer's wedding haha

so my idea was: ryan's at berkeley, taylor is in paris (i don't remember if they said why she was going back but in this fic it's for college lol) and they keep in touch, talk as much as they can, but they're kinda in this limbo, not sure where they stand

so ryan invites taylor for chrismukkah (it's gonna be sophie's first chrismukkah and the first one in the new house in berkeley, and I'm planning some sweet cohen family feels haha) and they spend some time together, and talk, and probably have sex (bc you know taylor lol) and basically get together for sure, and then continue to have a long distance relationship

also might do a time skip to that last scene of the show bc as soon as i saw that, I thought about ryan talking to taylor about taking that kid in, and I wanna write that haha

and a lil snippet just for you <3 (it's not exactly what I want from this scene, probably gonna rephrase some stuff - like, I think ryan and summer keep in touch so he'd probably hear from her that she's coming but idk, we'll see haha)

It’d be nice to have everyone there. Unless you’re going to Newport to spend it with your mom, I mean, no big deal.” he adds quickly, not wanting to pressure his maybe-girlfriend – he really needs to talk to her about what they are. He can’t believe he’s the one rambling, what the hell has she done to him.  “Oh, no, I’m so not spending Christmas with my mom.” Taylor laughs melodically, though it is a little sad, like every time she talks about her mom. As far as Ryan knows, they tried to have Thanksgiving together and it went just about as well as could be expected. “I’d love to spend it with you. There’s nothing like the holidays at the Cohen’s.” she adds, sing-songy, and Ryan wants to see her cute little smile so badly. “And of course I’d love to see Summer, I miss her.” “Oh, just Summer?” he asks teasingly. “Of course, who else would I miss?” she responds, tone equally joking.

Maple Syrup by the Backseat Lovers - this one to me is a Nancy song. It makes me think about Nancy mourning Barb, especially if you are a past Barb/Nancy truther. I think it shows her guilt and grief very well

I’ve got a couple Conan songs, but: People Watching gives me Robin vibes, watching everyone around her find romance while she knows that as a lesbian in rural Indiana in the 80’s, the closest she’ll get is “people watching.” See also Family Line being Nancy and her family, realizing how toxic her parents’ relationship is, and how terrible her father is. (It can also be a Max song!)

-piercings. i tend to change it every once in a while but definitely some kind of additional nose, lip, and ear piercings. oh and a tongue piercing

-huge fan of alt music. in his hs years he was a fan of punk, esp bc of the lyrics, but as an adult he doesn’t like the sound as much and kinda stopped listening to it. huge fan of rock, metal, and v-kei. in aus, i like to think he started listening to metal as his mental health started worsening. it felt comforting and cathartic and helped, a bit. in canon, i don’t think he goes out of his way to listen to music anymore as an adult considering his whole thing with nonsorcerers

-has a variety of organized playlists for specific moods.

-nerd. this isn’t even a hc just look at the s2 audios. the grand prix and the okinawa research 🥹 but i also hc him as being a book and music nerd. and you’re right he definitely loves to ramble.

-in aus, along with yuuta, i like to hc him as having ocd. (well, depression too)

-i like the idea that his cursed technique affects his tastebuds in some way, so he’s not the best cook at times. he occasionally burns his food but more often than not he’ll add too much or too little of something. he tries for miminana tho

-there was a fic i read recently where the author had suguru (and satoru) learn sign language because of the consequences of suguru’s cursed technique (in it he consumes a special grade and grade two i think? and it affects his throat badly). i loved it a lot and i’ve incorporated it into my own hcs as well :]

-has a complicated relationship w his parents but they try and love him so so much. mamas boy :)

You are the first person to explicitly call out that you see “so don’t complain” as judgy, and I expected that to happen MUCH earlier in this poll’s circulation. May I ask what fandom(s) you tend to read in? Again, thank you for your contribution to Science!!!

Huh, that's wild! I assumed others would have put that before I did, too. I currently tend to read Supernatural fic, but I used to read Good Omens, Jeeves and Wooster, BBC Sherlock, and Original/Granada Sherlock Holmes. I rarely see it actually used, but I tend to read older fics - most of the fics I've read that used it have been fairly recent, like the last 5 or so years if I had to estimate?

For your data: I learned about DDDNE on Tumblr about 8 years ago, where the post I read explained that it usually goes hand in hand with Don't Like; Don't Read as a reminder that the reader is responsible for curating their experience, and after you've read the tags, it's your choice whether to continue or not. I've never seen it as a moral judgement on the reader or the author, just an acknowledgement that the subject matter of the fic is not for everyone and readers are responsible for curating their own reading experience.

The reason I took issue with the phrasing of "so don't complain" is that if I were ever to use it, I would mean it like "this fic contains some heavy stuff, so double-check the tags and make sure you know what you're getting into" and that's how I interpret it when I see fics tagged with it. It's not really "so don't complain," more like "so if you read the tags, see that this fic contains something you find upsetting, and still choose to read it, that's on you, I warned you, and it's not fair to be angry at me for it." No shade on either party, just a reminder that you're in charge of your media experience, and that the writer has done their best to warn you of what's inside. Completely neutral in my mind.

It's handy to me because sometimes I forget to/just skim-read the tags before clicking on a fic, and that tag being there reminds me to double-check for potential triggers. Of course, it's only useful when combined with appropriate tagging. A fic just tagged with "Dead Dove Do Not Eat" with no additional tags is like a sign just saying "Danger!" - I'm just gonna back away and find somewhere else to go.

(although I'll admit I have sometimes, out of curiosity, clicked through to a dead dove fic where I've seen it's completely untagged or tagged for something that squicks me, and then when it inevitably does squick me I'm just like welp. Shouldn't have done that! and click back out. Not judging the author, just knowing my limits!)

We're doing Asher!!!

Asher is interesting to me. I tend to go back and forth on some things for him, like his hair and whatnot. So, let's start off with his hair! I like to think it's fluffy but curly. I tend to go between blond and light brown. But for now, let's stick with blond! I also think he likes to dye the tips of his hair. Right now, I can definitely picture him with blond curly hair with pastel rainbow tips lmao. He's tall but lanky but he has muscle but he's just...tiny lmao. Probably a terrible dancer because his long ass limbs get in the way lmao. But he still does it because it's fun asf. CAN'T FORGET ABOUT THE COLLAR. That's a staple for him. I like to think that Baabe gifts him a new collar every now and then. His favorite is the spikey one of course. Baabe also got him a tag to go on it when Asher is feeling extra lmao. (Which is most of the time). I like to think he has hazel eyes with hints of green in them!

As for his fashion sense...he's either terrible or pretty much in the "now" of fashion trends. There's no in between my dudes. Blue jeans almost everyday and they're destroyed. Rips all over the pant legs. He's a sneaker collector. But he's constantly wearing his converses. Yes, I made him THAT guy. As for shirts that's where it's either terrible or brilliant. He has t-shirts with terrible graphics/phrases on them and some days he'll wear shirts that makes you do a double take because DAMN HE LOOKS GOOD. Jewelry...Man's got rings and bracelets and earrings like no other. Rivals Gavin with how much jewelry he has.

I can sort of see him having a tattoo on his forearm. Gotta be a small tree/woods somewhere on his body. (I HC that all the wolf boys have one. So, when I get to David and Milo, you'll see this again lmao).

I feel like Asher's first job had to be the Movie theaters lmao. Just those small weird jobs but he makes it FUN. He's totally that guy that made vines of him and his fellow employees doing stupid shit in the back lmao. Now, it's tiktoks ("RIP Vine" - Asher) of him and the weird shit that Milo and them get up to on security jobs.

He totally gives off skater boy vibes but like the cool kind of skater lmao.

i watched the power of the doctor yesterday and i wrote a whole rant/meta about it, more particularly about 13 regenerating into 10, because i wanted to iron out my thoughts about it. i wasn't gonna post it but i spent way too long on it and this is my house after all so here we go

okay so, first of all, i wasn't very surprised by the regeneration, i was kind of expecting it to be honest (at least i entertained it as a strong possibility, given that they'd announced ten was coming back for the 60th anniversary), but i was still hoping they wouldn't go there and i was disappointed to see that they did.

there are three main reasons why i thought this was disappointing.(little disclaimer : i don't pretend to have any objectivity here. this is purely my feelings about this whole thing)

the first reason, and maybe it's just that i don't like when things that are established as a tradition don't happen like they always did before, but i can't help it, is that i feel like it somehow "cheapens" the regeneration, both for jodie and ncuti.

we won't see fourteen in thirteen's clothes. we won't get the last line / first line parallel with jodie and ncuti. there won't be this sort of traditional passing of the baton from one doctor to the next and that makes me really sad. regenerations are always heartbreaking (at least for me, and i cry my eyes out pretty much every time), but there's also a great joy in seeing the new doctor, the new face, hearing their first line, having this first glimpse of who they might become ; and this mayfly regen of ten robs us of that.

like, thirteen means so much to me, for a whole array of reasons that i won't get into here, and i can't quite put into words how sad i am to see her go. but i'm also very excited about ncuti gatwa being the next doctor, and i would have been SO HAPPY to see him and hear him as the doctor for the first time.

instead i was just like "eh. okay."

it honestly kind of feels like bad fanservice, and that brings me to the second reason i don't like this regen, which is more about the symbolic implications of that choice : to me, it feels like a bad, almost cruel irony to have jodie, who got so much shit on account of being the first female doctor, regenerate into the one doctor that all the people who spent her entire run moaning that she "ruined" doctor who, idolize and often consider to be the best (new who) doctor. it almost feels like proving them right in a way, like saying to them "see ? we know you didn't like the past seasons very much, so we're bringing back the doctor who that you love". i know that's probably not how they intended it, but to me, that's lowkey how it comes across and i HATE IT. and don't get me wrong, i love david tennant and i like ten a lot (i'm more about the sad doctors now, but he's probably what made me fall in love with the show when i first watched it) ; and it's not like i don't have my qualms with some of the writing in thirteen's era (because i certainly do, but that's a question for another day), but i really wish they'd done things differently with this regeneration.

the third reason i think this was a bad choice has more to do with the writing itself : i don't think it makes a lot of sense in terms of character development. thirteen's attitude towards her regeneration (she rejects it at first, then accepts and embraces it) when it happens is one of peace and appreciation of the present, (the "blossomest blossom" line is from an interview of dennis potter when he was dying of cancer), and of hopeful and total openness to the future ("to doctor whoever-i'm about-to-be : tag. you're it." what a perfect last line for her).

overall i really love that, i love her last conversation with yaz and her last scene, i think it makes a lot of sense for her character, given all that she has been through, and it's a beautiful conclusion to her journey. but in that context, given how joyful and curious she is about her future, to me it just does not make any sense to have her regenerate into a past iteration of herself. it goes totally against the character development she underwent in the past season and during the episode, and against what she is feeling in that moment. i get that it was also due to them bringing back ten for the 60th anniversary special, and depending on how that's explained and dealt with in the special it might make a little more sense, but it still completely clashes with her state of mind and the general emotional momentum of that scene. i imagine some people might have enjoyed that emotional whiplash, but it left me feeling very underwhelmed, especially since that was something i knew could and was even likely to happen.

it's frustrating because on the whole i really liked the episode (it's very intense and a little rushed and messy at times, but that's pretty consistent with chibnall's style for this past season), i think they managed (surprinsingly) well with all of the characters they brought back, it has some really cool ideas (LOVE the master trying to become the doctor, and sacha dhawan does a phenomenal job as always), and there are some truly beautiful and moving moments ; i really want to love it sincerely and unreservedly, and i can't help feeling a little bitter about this decision.

There's obviously something very Wrong with him but in the normal route he's more of a Saturday morning cartoon villain (up until you stumble upon his NEO form that is. He's scary in Snowgrave) I think it's hilarious that he's managed to make an enemy of Swatch, I think their dynamic is very funny.
