I’d like to request something again, bad sanses + star sanses with a gender neutral skeleton reader that sorta has powers like a genie. They can float, turn invisible, (still has most of the powers a usual sans has) and are very mischievous. The way they can grant wishes is giving someone a marble looking thing and when that person makes a wish, the marble will break and they’ll have to repay reader with something (can be either something shiny or some bones to chew on) they also don’t have a bottle, that’s the only genie thing they don’t have lol

Nightmare:

Nightmare actually found your powers quiet mesmerizing at first.

He interrogated you about the powers, and pronounced that your powers aren't very much helpful to him..I mean, yeah, you can grant wishes, but what exactly can- OH MY GOD IS THAT THE LIMITED BOOK HE WANTED BUT COULDN'T MANAGE TO GET?!

Keeps you around simply just for granting wishes 💀 (Asshole)

Doesn't really like the way your powers operate, but can't really do anything about it 🤷‍♀️

Please, don't try to scare him by turning invisible, he might just kill you.

Your relationship has a very rocky start...but you both slowly started to get along.

I swear...he has a constant headache just by your friendship with Killer.

He would do anything in order for you two to stop pulling these stupid pranks on him.

Sometimes likes to stare at you while you're floating around. He just finds that really cool. (Bitch is not gonna admit that 💀)

He hates how much he loves you 🥰

Killer:

THE BEST OF FRIENDS

Killer always felt like the odd one among the bad sanses...they all had their own perspective best friend, but he didn't have one.

Until you came along.

Killer's so clingy towards you after you became best friends...

You guys do a lot of stuff together! Many of them include pranking the others though..

Killer keeps on flirting with you in hopes of scoring a date with you. And if you don't get his flirting, then he'll just cover it up by saying that it's just a friendly banter. (It breaks his nonexistent heart though :(

The first time you scared him by turning invisible, he got very angry, until noticing it was you. Then his whole mood shifted as he just laughed it off. (Bro is a simp)

He was, and will be, so confused that you don't have a bottle. Like what do you mean that it doesn't work like in Aladdin?!

He likes to bother you with very useless wishes, "I wish for that remote on the table to appear in my hands." It was in front of him.

Bro is BROKE ASFF!!! His wallet cries after every wish he makes.. he could repay you with something else than money..but he didn't like to give his stuff away.

Dust:

Dust is a closeted nerd...so of course the first thing he does is whip out his book and write down everything about you.

It's his first time seeing a genie. Of course he's gonna ask a lot of questions!

He loves to study you, to the point where you felt like a wild animal in the Zoo.

He's silently sitting on a nearby chair as you grant Horror his wish, staring at you.. studying how your powers work.

It's gotten to the point where you're getting kinda creeped out..

You, at first, thought that he wanted to make a wish or something, but when he denied it just as you asked him.. you got confused even more.

Bro is staring so much that he eventually stops studying your powers, and is instead studying you.

He now notices even the smallest things about you.

Is getting a little obsessed, not gonna lie, but it's cute. So you'll allow it ;)

Horror:

His reaction to you being a genie is actually very wholesome.. (surprisingly). He wishes for his Au to not be in deep starvation..and for them to finally get out of the underground. Basically, kinda resetting everything that's happened after Frisk left.

You sadly can't grant this wish of his, which leaves him sad and angry. But you do give him a giant meat. (Which made his mood a little better.)

You started to feel sad for him after this moment, so you started to talk to him regularly. Which he enjoyed.

Horror's not much of a talker, so he'll just listen to you most of the time.

It's also partially because he likes to listen to your voice.. ❤️

Horror likes the sound that your powers make whenever you grant a wish, so he's always nearby whenever you're granting wishes. (It's just a little bell that sounds off)

Becomes attached to you, very quickly.

Defends you from Nightmare to the best of his abilities.

Horror's the tallest of the Sanses, (my HC) so he'll be so mesmerized when you float up higher above him. He won't lie, he likes this change. Having to look up for once instead of down.

He likes how your powers operate. It seems fair to him. 🤷‍♀️

Error:

He immediately took advantage of the fact you can grant wishes.

He wished for so many things! Such as; getting Classic's autograph, make Ink disappear, have a popcorn maker, wishing for chocolate,...

He actually doesn't like how you can float. He can't wrap his strings around you and pull you along now! >:(

You're getting on his nerves by being friends with Killer though.

After Nightmare, Error's your next target. Every.time.

Seriously sick of it. If he could, he would seperate you and Killer.IN HEARTBEAT.

He really, really.. really wants to hold your hand, but his Haphephobia doesn't allow him to 💀

Please, don't try to scare him by turning invisible. He WILL crash.

Dream:

He thinks that you must carry a big burden on your shoulders, if you're a Genie. So he gets really concerned if anything really.

He tries to pull you away from granting any wishes, every.time.

He's so cute.. dragging you away to hang out with him to forget about your work.

But he does want to see how your powers operate.

Finds it amazing that you can float, turn invisible... everything really!

After your long persuadation, he gives in and makes a wish.

His wish is really sad...he wishes to have his brother and Au back. He wants to reverse time! Which, as we know, you can't do. It's against the rules to change what was already done. So you politely decline, explaining him exactly why.

Dream's a really understanding person, so of course he doesn't mind it or isn't angry.

What was past...is past. What matters now, is that you're here in the present. Nothing else should matter. ^^ (his words)

Ink:

Immediately, Without hesitation, nor any filter, he asks; "Can you make me feel emotions?"

You don't grant his wish -> he sulks.

He's a forgetful shit, so he'll forget that you're a genie at times.

It's like he's on repeat at the start of your relationship. He finds out you're a genie -> wishes to feel emotions -> you decline -> he sulks -> forgets 💀

Be prepared for this at times.

But after knowing you for awhile, he finally remembers and stops asking you that damn question.

He doesn't have much opinions about you tbh. He's seen some shit, so he's not all that fazed from you being a genie.

The part that shocks him the most is that you don't have a lamp. (His reaction is similar to Killer. Bro confused you for Aladdin 💀)

Y'all have a rocky relationship 🤷‍♀️

Don't worry though, after you get to know each other a bit more, he'll cling to you like a Koala.

Swap:

Similar reaction to Dream. He feels concerned for your mentality.

Everyone's always going to you to grant their wish, but Swap's soul is too kind for his own good. Instead of wishing something for himself, he asks you; "What do you wish for?"

You cried that time. (He was scared that he did something wrong 💀)

You started treating him as if he was some precious gold. Which got him flustered.

He treats you as if you were his queen. Brings you food, helps you out a lot... You name it.

He just feels so much love for you, it's unbelievable.

Doesn't mind your little pranks with Killer. He just sees that as your little escape from work. Which he feels happy for. :)

He just smiles softly whenever you prank him with Killer in tow.

He's so patient and kind towards you😭

Doesn't mind you floating around or the fact that you can turn invisible, you're you, and that's something he never wants to replace.

Hiya, here's some HCs for ya! I didn't really mean to, but some of these honestly turned out a little sad? Especially Shanes, I just think it would be a big source of inner struggle for him tbh. But, I hope you like these! Lemme know what you think :D

Sam:

Usually pretty good at getting his feelings across.... except for when he has to say it. The enthusiasm is there! But his delivery is off, and he gets sidetracked - either unknowingly, or because he's anxious about what he wants to say.

Someone will be mid conversation with him, when suddenly - without warning - he'll start talking a mile-a-minute, stuttering through all his words and making multiple semi-related side points, before finally, he says what he wanted to say.

He's a bit starved on the recieving end? Unfortunately, affirmation and verbal affection isn't made a big deal out of in his family - especially on his parent's end. So, instead he'll usually get a lot of it from Abigail and Seb. The three of them are all pretty close, having known eachother for ages, so they know exactly what makes eachother happy :,)

When you become friends, get prepared for the endless questions about your farm and it's upkeep that he's about to unleash upon you. He's thinks you're so cool for it, and isn't shy about letting you know.

Tries so hard to be one of those cool and confident friends, who sorta adopts you and teaches you about fitting into the valley. His effort.... is uh, noted...

If he has a crush on you, he starts trying really hard to stand out, by showing you just how much he's listened to and learnt from everything you've said - even if it was just in passing. Wants to see the efforts of your hobbies, and will think it's pretty neat no matter what it is. Gets super excited about your music tastes.

Has the same reaction to any compliment ever. Gets all blushy, and has this goofy grin on his face as he reaches a hand to rub at the back of his neck. Cannot make eye contact for the life of him. Gets even more flustered if its you too <3

Elliot:

Natural talker. Probably came out of the womb a master of knowing about social cues and articulating feelings lol.

He compliments everyone, at anytime, and on everything. But somehow, it's never excessive? Can be subtle or overt with it too. Loves when it gets reciprocated,

Amazing at giving advice too. He's just one of those people, y'know? He's approachable, easy to open up to, and never judges, so a lot of people come to him when they need a second opinion.

He's a bit of a rock in alot of his relationships... which is a lovely thing to be, and he loves being someone others can rely on! But, it gets a little overwhelming for him sometimes, and he has a hard time taking his own advice. Just wants someone he can rely on.

He's already in your corner by the time you become friends, after all, he can relate to you! Elliot knows what it's like being new to the Valley and having to navigate fitting in, so he understands that having to build the farm from the ground up must be an incredibly hard thing to do. He thinks you're amazing for it, and makes sure to let you know.

So helpful if you're anxious about meeting others and making new friends, reassuring you that they'll like you just as much as he does, and giving you hints as to what they like.

If he develops a crush on you, then he'll start being a little more romantic and flirty when it comes to his affirmation. Not subtle about it either - he likes you, and he's not ashamed or shy if you figure it out.

Writes poems for you all the time, and would love to read one of these for you whilst playing his piano for backing <3

Harvey:

Despite how shy he can sometimes get, he's actually pretty good at this! His job requires him to be able to give helpful, level-headed advice, but he also just kinda has an affinity for it. Affirmation comes easily to him, so at this point, it really just comes down to whether or not he has the courage to say it.

Another person who is very easy to open up to and has good advice - though, he's also just a very good active listener, recalling minor details about things that had been said even in passing. Is one of the only people who Shane trusts enough to talk about what's going on for him internally.

Has an amazing support on the recieving end in the form of his co-worker, Maru, and when neither of them have any work to do, they'll take a break and talk over a cup of coffee - giving eachother ample time and space to talk, and their piece.

Is not at all starved for compliments, recieving praise almost everyday from his friends and patients. Everyone's very grateful for him and all that he does.

If you're friends, he plays a very subtle and supportive role. Notices a lot about you, including the stuff you say, but also the physical stuff - like if you seem to be tired, or in pain. Always makes sure that you know he's there for you, if you ever needed him to be.

If he has a crush on you, he tries his best not to let it affect anything about the way he affirms you. He cares about you alot, so he would hate to change things or shy away simply to avoid being as flustered by you.

Starts making an effort to compliment you on the more personal things, like how pretty you look in your outfit, or how happy it makes him to see how happy you look today. Gets so embarrassed when he does this <3

Alex:

Ooh, definitely not his strongest point, that's for sure. He just doesn't often really get the urge for it, and even when he does, he struggles with finding the right words for it.

Amazing at it when it comes to the physical stuff though! He knows alot about physique and discipline, so if anyone's looking for tips with training, building stamina, or even just need someone to be enthusiastic about it with them - then he's your guy! 10/10 hypeman and personal trainer.

Very close with his grandparents, and while he does struggle a bit with letting them know how he feels about them sometimes, it's not as difficult for him as it is with others. Recieves a lot from them on the reciprocal side, so he's not really too starved for it on that front, though he does wish for a similar sort of relationship with some of his friends.

Another one of his strong points, is that if you're friends, and he has something to say, he will say it. He likes your outfit? He'll tell you. He thinks you look like you've gotten a bit stronger lately? He's letting you know right now. His delivery may be a little off sometimes, and it may not come out exactly the way he meant it - but he truely does means well.

Once he realises he has a crush on you, he realises that he may have been holding out with the compliments he wanted to give you in the past - often watering them down or moving on because he didn't really know what the right words were.

He's trying to be more patient and trusting of himself, after all, he knows he has the words, he just needs a bit more time to think and be sure about them. Does his best to express how he feels to you from now on <3

Shane:

Another one of his weak points. For the most part, Shane prefers to be left alone by others, so he tries not to go against the grain, in case others get the wrong idea.

Secretly though, it's not that he's bad at it. He's not dense, and can admit that the people around him honestly are pretty cool sometimes, or that the way someone dressed looked good on them recently. But he'll move on from those thoughts quite quickly, and he certainly won't say it.

Shane likes to believe that he doesn't need anything like that for himself. But really, it's actually something that he desperately craves - latching internally onto even the smallest of comments whenever he recieves them, even if he externally shows distaste for it.

Doesn't trust himself to give advice, so usually just tries to listen instead if he ends up in those situations. Harvey is probably one of his only reciprocal relationships in this regard, and though it's only really in private that they talk, Shane reckons somehow they understand eachother quite well.

It takes a while for Shane to get used to people, so if you become friends, just be patient. He might be a little stand-offish about any compliments or affirmation you give him at first, but he can't deny that he doesn't crave that sort of platonic intimacy with someone, and eventually he'll start easing more into it. As you grow closer, he might even reciprocate.

If he did develop one, then by the time he realised he had a crush on you, he'd probably be a lot more comfortable with affirmation. Looks out for you in his own way, listening to your struggles, and offering to help out where he can, even if it's just to lessen the load.

He writes you letters sometimes. Mostly about what he struggles to tell you, but also just about how thankful he is for you. He's never sent one though, hiding them away in a drawer instead. Thinks he'll read them to you eventually, at least, when he feels a little stronger <3

Sebastian:

Sebastian is pretty quiet and attentive, content with being on the sidelines, and just sorta... observing. He's also blunt. Like, really blunt... and a bit angsty, which is what most people tend to expect from him.

So when he does speak up, to give a compliment or reassure - whatever it is, it usually comes as a bit of a surprise to people. Because he's very sparing with his affection, saving it for only those who he's closest too, and because he'll say the sweetest, most thoughtful things as if it were simply just common sense.

He's not close whatsoever with his family, and he's especially closed-off from Demetrius. But at least with Robin and Maru, he does recognise how hard they work, and attempts to put in a little effort every now and again.

Sorta helpful with advice? He tends to keep to himself, so he doesn't have too much transferable knowledge, but he's very good at listening, and he's even better at helping others to work through their feelings. Is usually the first person Sam or Abigail go to when they need a bit of reassurance.

People tend to be a little intimidated by him, so he's a little starved for verbal affection. He tries to be content with it.

If you're friends, it may take him a little while to speak up to you, but he'll be really happy if you notice something about him - especially if it's about his work, since he's so used to other's dismissing it. Thinks it an absolute joy to hear you so kindly affirm his efforts like that, and finds himself feeling a lot closer to you after that.

If he has a crush on you, I can see him getting really sentimental with some of the things he says to you when you're alone together. Flirts alot more too, though sometimes he'll play it off as a joke.

Offers to take you on rides to all sorts of places, and flirts seriously with you when you get there, way more than he usually does too. He's also a little shit (/affectionate lol), so he thinks it's amusing if he manages to make you flustered <3

A/N: These were kinda difficult ngl! But I had so much fun with these - especially Shane and Sebastian. I think those two especially would have the most unique experiences with this love language, so I had a lot of ideas for them and really tried to play into it :) - Lemme know what you thought!

Like kens super all like “Oh stereotypical Barbie is so amazing” and reader just is like “oh. Okay yeahb I’ll support you” and just follows the song. Idk lol

"So...I take it that it didn't go the way you hoped?"

"Sadly..it didn't." Putting on his best smile, Ken sighed quietly as you both sat on the beach together. "I forgot it was girls' night and...she didn't want me there. Period."

You blinked. "She seriously said that to you?"

"Yeah."

"And..it didn't hurt?"

"I mean..she wasn't wrong. She could never be wrong. It's not my place to intrude on her night and I need to respect that. I'm just happy I got to dance with her and...almost kiss her after the party." His attempts to sound upbeat were forced, although he didn't want to concern you too much. "Simply being in her presence is enough for me. She's just so...amazing and beautiful and so smart. I'm glad we're boyfriend and girlfriend."

'It doesn't sound like she thinks the same...' Is what you wanted to say to him, but you decided to keep that to yourself. Instead, your shoulders remained slumped as he continued rambling about how "awesome" Stereotypical Barbie was.

It was nothing new to you.

You and him have been good friends for a while, although roughly 90% of your chats consisted of him gushing over Barbie nonstop; the remaining 10% were either him complaining about Tourist Ken or rambling about Beach-related stuff.

Obviously, you didn't mind talking to him and wouldn't dare shut him down. You actually enjoyed every moment you spent together, even if he can be a bit dumb and showy at times.

You just wish he didn't bring up Barbie's name in every single conversation...considering that she barely mentions his name whenever you talked to her.

It was unconventional at best for a Barbie to not be interested in her Ken, but that's just the way she is and he doesn't see anything wrong with that.

He wasn't getting the hint.

When you found Ken sitting alone on the beach tonight--in the spot where you'd normally practice you guitar skills--he looked awfully dejected and lonely. You immediately knew he tried shooting his shot with her after the huge blowout party with planned choreography and a bespoke song..

And ultimately missed by a mile.

"You know what she said to me earlier after that Beach accident, [y/n]?"

"What did she say?"

"She said I was "very brave"." Stars were practically shimmering in his blue eyes, his grin growing wider. "She thought I was brave! Isn't that awesome??"

"Yeah, it sure is." Nodding in agreement, you turned your gaze up to the brightly-lit moon in the sky. "You're a lot of things, Ken. Brave, funny, cool...she should seriously cherish those and not just shut you out because of "Girl's Night". I don't think that's fair to you at all."

The words came out faster than you could think, and your body tensed up as you watched his expression falter.

Maybe you've said too much.

"I..um-"

"Wow, that's...nice to hear, [y/n]. Thank you." He put a hand to his chest, looking at you with a gentler smile. "You're a great friend, you know that?"

"...right, we're great friends." You reluctantly agreed, forcing you own smile for his sake. "Do you mind if I play some guitar? This is my usual spot but-"

"Ohh, I forgot you had that...thing." Then he pointed to your acoustic instrument. "If you want me to leave I can-"

"No, no, you can stay! I'd hate to see you roaming Barbieland all night by yourself."

"Nah, I'm not really "roaming" aimlessly." He brushed off your worries, smoothing his hair out as though it was tousled by nonexistent wind. "I just sorta...wander around till I find a cozy spot. Sometimes I get lucky, but other times I imagine myself in her dreamhouse. I bet next time she'll let me stay over. Who knows? Maybe one day we can call it Barbie and Ken's Dreamhouse. Haha..wouldn't that be awesome, huh?"

At the end of his rambling, he had that same lovestruck appearance on his face as he rested his jaw on his fist, gazing at you.

That's the kind of look you wish he'd give you instead.

"Yeah, that would be cool." Once more, you agreed, before taking your guitar out of its case and placing it across your lap. "Well..I'm just gonna start practicing."

"Right. Thanks for listening, [y/n]. I'm just gonna sleep over here and dream of our future." He stood up and walked about ten steps towards a baby blue towel somebody left behind in the sand, laying down and curling up. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Ken. Sleep well."

Despite how uncomfortable he seemed, he had no problems dozing off as you heard light snores mere seconds after he closed his eyes. You saw a content smile gracing his lips and gazed at him for some time.

He never looked more peaceful.

"This one's for you.." You whispered softly, fingers gliding across the guitar strings as you began playing a song you've recently memorized.

Then you began singing ever-so quietly, closing your eyes and feeling the music flow through you.

""Do you wanna be friends?" I mean I wanna be more. But if "friends" is how I get to have you...then..sure. I'll be quiet in my pining. I won't tell you about the pain. I'll be silent in the night when I know that you're asleep..but I wanna ask you if you're awake.."

You weren't sure where you've heard this song before. It just popped into your mind one day and resonated with you so deeply, filling your plastic heart with a foreign feeling.

That being...the feeling of longingness. Pining.

Love.

It reminded you of Ken, and where your relationship with him currently stood...and possibly will remain for as long as you both lived.

You knew that he'd always choose Barbie over you at the end of the day, even though you've seen her reject him time and time again. He still kept chasing after her no matter what, always hoping she'll one day say "yes" to him staying over at her dreamhouse instead of shooing him away.

Eventually, he'd have to wake up and realize the truth.

Maybe then he'll finally see that you were the only one who ever gave him the time of day. The only one who truly cared about where he slept, if he was okay, etc.

The only one who truly loved him.

Perhaps in another life, it can be [Y/n] and Ken.

But for now, you just continued playing the guitar at him, even though he was off in dreamland, blissfully unaware that you were speaking to him through this song you were singing.

If only he knew your genuine feelings for him; although that may never happen since he's always calling you his "friend".

And if that's what he wanted out of this relationship, then...you'll have to settle for that. For his sake.

You'd hate to lose him.

"So we'll be friends, and I'll be okay. The world won't end if you don't love me, even if it feels that way..."

Hey, how have you been? Is your health better?

hey! i've been alright lately. as with my whole gut thing, it fluctuates a lot. there'll be days where it's either bad to the point where i have to eat in small amounts infrequently, or i'll have no problems at all! there's no way of guessing, either; i just wake up and kinda have to deal with how my digestive system is fixing to act that day lol

but! our doctor FINALLY called back after just under two months of waiting with the results of the pH tester i had in my stomach for a couple days. basically the files and info about it didn't get send to him on time lol. so as i said in the last update, the endoscopy turned out normal. but now the biopsies came out normal, however with the pH tester, they got an answer from it!

i wasn't there for the call; my mom answered it. and they have an actual and definite answer now for what's going on: my brain and nerves are kinda sorta fucked up and they're absolutely losing their shit. about what? no clue! so, they want to do some tests (i think my mom forgot what tests tho lol) and they want to give me a small dosage of depressant medications (again, don't know what) to chill my brain and nerves tf out. we're also supposed to get smth in the mail that explains all this and we don't know when we're gonna get those either. just a lot of questions all around lol.

so yeah! i'm honestly over the moon that i have a solid answer about what's going on! but i still wanna know WHY my brain and nerves are losing their shit. all of this has pretty severely impacted my period as well. so. i'm beginning to think my mental health might have something to with it, tbh. idk. we'll figure out.

also! i'm so so sorry for coming here like once every few weeks, with a combination of mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion + school in general, it hasn't been the TOP priority, but i'll change that! there's a hell of a lot of personal stuff goin on right now, forgive me <3

Thoughts: Fun and Games

Started this last night, accidentally deleted it, got annoyed and went to bed.

Take two.

Yes Stede, the head butt was absolutely on purpose, but not because it was you, rather because a fearsome pirate woke up from a traumatic-on-every-level experience with someone hovering over him, six inches from his face. Ed would have head butted anyone on sheer instinct.

Fascinated by Buttons choosing to check in with Ed about his gravy basket experience, and you can tell Buttons sorta understands that Ed did have a vision, even if Ed doesn't say as much. Also, Buttons has been there a few times himself? Can you get there only through massive physical injury or can you like take a vision quest?

All well and good that the unicorn can't hear without a head, but probably a bigger selling point for Izzy is that it can't talk back

The crew's at a deadlock? Really? They sounded pretty firmly in favor of banishment. Did Stede just want to make sure Izzy got to have a say?

How many takes did they have to do with the sandwich, and was "sammie" scripted or improvised? I need to know.

On a serious note, how Stede's heart must have hurt to see Ed look at him like that

How fucked up and re-traumatizing for Ed to have his lil bunny friend snatched out from under his nose mere seconds after telling it that it would always be safe with him

Did I mention how the costumes keep getting better and better? Minnie Driver looks absolutely spectacular

In Stede's place I would have been scared to death to accept Anne and Mary's dinner invitation, solely on the basis of their predatory grins, but I guess love is stronger than all that

Also stronger than Ed pelting him with backhanded comments all evening

Love the incongruity of Roach talking about reminding the other crew of their value and safety while brandishing a cleaver

Whatever either Stede or Ed was expecting from the evening, it sure wasn't this

"Actually, I was planning on killing him myself" - subtext: still might if sufficiently provoked

Stede's expression when Ed says he regretted shaving his beard - so like his expression when Ed finds him on the beach in Ep9

Taika is so good in this whole scene. The tiny, tiny change in his expression when Stede says he likes his new beard, it's like he's processing that this is happening and willing himself to remain objective. And then Stede asks about the gravy basket and it snaps him back to reality and causes him to turn abrupt/short when he says he's fine. Good stuff.

Not gonna lie, I kinda hate the scene with the pinata and the cake. I get the point, but it feels clunky to me. I do appreciate everyone struggling with the concept of a safe space, lol, and I would love to know what exactly the "fucked up sleeping arrangements" are.

Another costuming note: Lucius is wearing the hell out of those high-waisted trousers.

I personally would not have described Stede as an "artsy outsider," but from Mary's POV I kinda get it, "artsy" sounds a bit derisive, like artsy-fartsy, and outsider sounds like...well, not a pirate. If that's Ed's type, I'd love to know about past outsiders he's been involved with. Likewise, I'm fascinated by Ed calling Stede "fragile" - he's clearly not meaning it as weak, but as fine/delicate. He says it so fondly. :)

Offering relationship advice by saying that everything will be rosy for a while and then eventually, inevitably, it's all going to go to hell and you're going to be left attempting murder to "keep things fresh" is, ah, kind of upsetting. Anne's tactic is upsetting too but at least "let's make them jealous" isn't explicitly violent.

It's really important to me that Roach (along with Fang) is one of the first to try to help Izzy up, same as he was the first to approach Buttons when Karl got killed. He really is tender as hell. :)

In my previous post, I mentioned how Ed still doesn't know that Mary wasn't the whole reason Stede didn't come to the dock - and I want to know, what's going to set off Stede's PTSD? We've seen the crew grappling with theirs and Ed is a walking ball of it. Stede's kinda been skating over everyone else's damage and he hasn't really even touched his own. He says he panicked, and admits he went back to his wife, but the part where he was abducted at gunpoint and nearly murdered is a pretty key part of the narrative. Taking a wild guess that's going to come up when we meet Prince Ricky again. And it's going to lead us into the Season Finale which SHIT I do not want to think about yet.

Others have probably already connected these dots but I'm obsessed with the fact that the blanket that Ed is hiding under so strikingly resembles the Battle Jacket. It should be renamed the Ed Teach is Lovable Jacket.

I just love me some everything about this scene. I love Stede's confidence in making himself heard and I love how throughout their talk Ed comes out from under the blanket, then sits up, then turns toward Stede by degrees, and finally gives that tiny, tiny, sad smile. And the dialogue is beautiful and heartfelt and Rhys and Taika just take it to a wonderful place.

My blood runs cold on Ed and Stede's behalf when Anne and Mary bust in on them, honest to god.

Oh, Izzy. *sniffle*

I was honestly not crazy about the whole avian transmogrification thing at first, but the more I've thought about it, the more I like it. Buttons is completely confident in his ability to pull it off and in his reason for doing it - which is, of course, love. His pointing out to Ed that love requires change/growth is just a sweet touch. Was Buttons a "good" first mate? Who knows? Was he a decent human and apparently a legit vessel of magic? I think yes.

Also, if you're going to write a character out of your story, changing them into a bird is a bang-up way to do it. No klutzy off-screen death for Buttons.

Also also, I think it's worth remembering that Zheng uses carrier birds. I predict avian espionage in the future. And no, gulls were not used as carrier birds, but we all know Djenks has been hand-wavy about bigger things.

Izzy...is himself again. Also, loving the casual acknowledgement that there's been at least one other person on the Revenge this whole time who could read :P

Do you think Bruce actually loves dick the same as every other member of his family or do you think he has a preference or some extra bagged in Dick?

I mean, their relationship is usually portrayed as different, either closer or more distant in comparison of Bruce's relationships with his other children.

Some people think Jason was the favorite for example, and cast Dick out saying he wasn't always Bruce's child, and idk I'm just curious on how you perceive their relationship 👀

Okay so like I've actually talked about this in many, many a post, lol, because I have like a full on pathological aversion to writers or fans talking up any single Batkid as Bruce's favorite, even if its Dick. Like Dick is my favorite Batkid, but I don't WANT him to be Bruce's favorite. I don't want Bruce to have favorites, period, because that's never actually to the benefit of a family, even to the alleged favorite, because it usually just builds resentment among that 'favorite's' siblings and in turn dilutes and erodes possible bonds they might have.....which especially isn't to the benefit of even an alleged favorite, if they don't even have a great or healthy relationship with their parent either?

So like....I'm always like DEATH TO THE FAVORITE STATUS OF ANY BATKID, and I just really want to strongly express that this isn't because like, the Dick stan in me wants to downvote the possibility of any of the other kids being Bruce's fave, and I'm just trying to be coy about it or whatever, y'know? LOL. Its like no, I actually really truly hate the idea of any of the kids being Bruce's favorite and that INCLUDES Dick.

Now.

All that said.

The other problem I have with the whole favorite talk or the idea Bruce loves Dick more than the others is that like, you don't NEED to lean into those ideas in order to play up the possibility that Bruce can love all his children equally but still interact with them in different ways, based on different reasons, that do at times make the various kids ASSUME that one or the other is his favorite.

And THAT? I can get on board with, because its honest family dysfunction that isn't inherently toxic or harmful. Its like. Earned miscommunications and misunderstandings that strain relationships, vs something like actual favoritism where there's no possibility of the non-favorites ever upending their father's arbitrary rankings of them, if that makes sense?

So like. For example.....I don't think Jason is Bruce's favorite kid either. But I can see why the kids would at times think that, because I think Bruce has a particular nostalgia about his time raising Jason, before ADITF, that isn't even about it being JASON, specifically, so much as like....that period of his life, the rose-tinted nature of looking back at something prior to a particularly traumatic or turbulent event, etc.

And even from Dick's perspective, before ADITF, when he and Bruce were estranged and Jason seemed to be getting everything Dick wanted from Bruce but didn't have at that point....the actual acknowledgment of an adoption, the Robin mantle and partnership with Bruce as Batman, Bruce's clear affection, etc.....

Like, all of that added up, while Dick felt like he was on the outside looking in at that particular point in time, I could easily see how Dick might assume Jason was always Bruce's favorite and Bruce loved him in a way he never had loved Dick.....

But there are plenty of other reasons that it might have played out that way. For instance, I don't think Bruce ever felt pressured to compete with Jason's biological father for a place in Jason's eyes AS a father figure, unlike how he might have with Dick due to Dick's clear love for his first father....so it was probably easier for the (typically self-conscious) Bruce to sorta....be open with his paternal affections and dive into a more traditionally father/son dynamic with Jason than he'd ever managed to with Dick.

Also too, I think a key factor is that Bruce is very much a man of action, not words. He's not great at saying how he feels and he believes in showing it via his actions....and I think he had a LOT of regrets about how things went down when Dick moved out. But like, I don't think Bruce ever figured out how to apologize to Dick, or even entirely understood which of his actions had hurt Dick so much and so wasn't sure what precisely he was apologizing FOR....

And because Bruce is someone who also does not particularly like being fake or dishonest when he doesn't have to be, I think he kinda convinced himself that it was better to just....not try and say the words "I'm sorry" if he couldn't be sure he was apologizing for the right things, or that Dick would believe him....like it was that thing where Bruce kinda maybe convinced himself that saying I'm sorry wasn't good enough, wouldn't fix anything, maybe he didn't deserve to be forgiven by Dick?

(And I'm not justifying Bruce not apologizing to Dick for mistakes when raising Dick, and how things played out with Batman and Robin, I'm just....viewing things from his perspective. I'm a big believer of course that like, you still owe it to a person you've hurt to apologize anyway, its about THEM, not you, and at the very least you give them the power to decide whether to accept your apology or not, even if you think you don't deserve forgiveness or that an I'm sorry isn't good enough....doesn't matter. You still make the effort, talking yourself out of it while claiming its FOR THEM that you do so, like, doesn't actually benefit them any, it just...gives you an out of something you're uncomfortable about or dreading doing in the first place).

But I can see that being Bruce's stance on apologies and making amends, is my point. I think he absolutely had regrets with Dick, and things he knew he'd done wrong and WANTED to apologize for, on some level...but for whatever reason, he didn't. He just flat out didn't know how to make things right with Dick, or repair their relationship, or wasn't sure if it was in Dick's best interest to do so, or Bruce convinced himself of that at least....

And since Bruce is still ultimately a man of action at heart, I think being kinda...stuck like this.....made him restless. Gave him this pent up need to FIX what he'd broken, or at least do BETTER....and because he didn't know how to do right by Dick, couldn't figure out how to go about being a better father to him retroactively, or whether he had the right to even try....he channeled all that energy into trying to do right by Jason, in ways he felt he'd wronged Dick.

And that was why it was so much easier, comparatively speaking, for Bruce to do all the things with Jason he might have WISHED he'd done with Dick, in hindsight....offering him adoption right off the bat, being more openly affectionate, being more forthcoming with putting his trust in Jason's ability to be Robin compared to how much he second-guessed Dick in his first year as Robin.

And all of that, in Dick's perspective, would have absolutely LOOKED like Jason was the clear favorite. But really, it wasn't about either of them being Bruce's favorite.....it was just a difference in his dynamics with each of them, what angle he approached things from with each of them, his perception of not just each of them....but how he assumed they perceived him. What Bruce felt they each wanted from him, respectively.

And of course, even before ADITF, Bruce and Jason had major issues as well. That goes without saying. But again....its all about how things might look to the others who are more likely to just see the positives between Bruce and various other kids, not when his dynamics with each of the others are at their lowest.

Another thing to factor in is Bruce's guilt complex. A lot of times I think 'who is Bruce's favorite kid' is a question better swapped out for 'who does Bruce think he's let down the most.' I think that has a LOT to do with how Bruce acts around each of his kids at various points, and why most of them at one point or another assume "Bruce lets (x) get away with stuff he'd NEVER be okay with me doing."

And like, sometimes that's true, yeah! Sometimes Bruce DOES have blinders on when Jason is concerned, but I don't think its because Jason's his favorite, its because like. Jason died, yo. And Bruce is like, and that's all my fault. And sometimes Bruce DOES have blinders on when Damian is concerned, but again, its not about favoritism so much as its like. Damian also died, yo. And Bruce is like, this too, was all my fault. Etc, etc.

Which brings me to a key aspect of Dick and Bruce's relationship, that might translate into perceived favoritism when viewed by Dick's siblings.....but again....is more about guilt, rather than Bruce just loving Dick more than them.

Like, the big thing to remember about Dick and Bruce's much longer shared history, most of which happened before ANY of the others came along....is that there was a lot of good there! Stuff that both of them are absolutely nostalgic for, same as Bruce is nostalgic about years with Jason, and that all the other kids feel like they're on the outside looking in, when they see that nostalgia.

But! There was a lot of bad there, too. And unlike seeing Bruce and Dick be nostalgic about good old days, or hearing them reminisce about great shared moments together.....the other Batkids are NOT likely to know about the worst moments Bruce and Dick shared, because they are both intensely private people who are not prone to like....advertising their hurts. Stuff like how Bruce treated Dick in the aftermath of Jason's death, or firing him as Robin in the first place? Odds are, none of the other Batkids have a CLUE about any of that ever going down, at least not in the specific ways it did, and I don't think either Bruce or Dick would ever be likely to WANT to loop them in on that knowledge.

However....

Thing is, if you tie that last part back into Bruce's guilt complex and need to make up for past wrongs or harms or overcompensate for them with actions, rather than actually saying the words "here is this thing I know I did that was wrong, and that I wish to apologize or make up for specifically"......

Suddenly, you've got a Bruce Wayne who from his perspective has YEARS worth of mistakes he wants to make up for with Dick, things he feels he owes Dick for or needs to do better because of......

All while Dick likely has his suspicions about WHY Bruce is overcompensating in these specific ways, but due to his own hurts and their canonical issues discussing the flaws in their relationship, doesn't want to just....be the one to spell out 'hey Bruce, are you being like this because of that one time you like, were a massive douche to me because of xyz?'

But without any context for why Bruce might be apologetic versus just...Having A Favorite, and without explanation for why Dick might just....grunt and passively accept the overcompensating indulgences while looking constipated and perhaps even seeming ungrateful of Bruce's indulgences to those lacking context for what's really going on under the surface of this interaction....

To everyone else? That shit might absolutely look like some god-tier Parental Favoritism, and the alleged favorite Golden Child just like.....not even appreciating it.

All because nobody else has the right information to guess that what they actually just witnessed was Bruce trying to make up for a time he kinda sorta punched his first kid and his first kid smile-grimacing his way through trying to accept this non-apology without calling it out as being a non-apology and risking the 'moment they're having' igniting into a giant clusterfuck that just reopens old wounds with no guarantee of actual closure being had by anyone, anywhere.

And thus......A Thing is actually a completely DIFFERENT thing from what others in the family might perceive it as being. And this same tendency could easily be a pattern repeated among Bruce's dynamics with ALL of his kids at various points, for different reasons....because ALL of the Batfam are notoriously private and secretive, and likely to nurse their hurts without sharing them with their siblings, so nobody ever truly knows WHAT'S what, when it comes to Bruce's relationships with each of them individually.

But because they are the Batfam, and like....they like Deducing Shit, or feeling like They've Definitely Connected Two Dots.....they all fall into the same trap of making assumptions based on the behavior or dynamics they perceive between their father and his various other kids.

Share a bed with NXX: (sorta) Platonic Edition

Or rather, the NXX boys try their hardest to keep it platonic

No warnings, except that the "sorta" caveat comes from the usual suspect. You know who he is lol ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Luke

There really shouldn't be any hang ups between you and your best friend when it comes to sharing a room.

Or a bed, for that matter.

So when the both of you somehow wind up in a shabby motel along the outskirts of the city--as the mission dictates--little to no drama occurred when the both of you find out, a little too late, that there is only one bed, and that there is absolutely no other place to either lay down or sit down on.

To reiterate: The floor is absolutely grimy.

There are no chairs.

There is not even a bathtub that some enterprising individual can pad out with blankets, towels, pillows to make it a snug emergency sleeping nest for the night.

Just that one queen-sized bed. Which Luke suspects would turn up with mysterious marks the moment he shines his UV light lamp on it.

You pay no mind to the one-bed only dilemma, it's just sharing a bed with Luke anyway, the boy you've grown up together with for so long and even bathed together with at some point.

You ask him if he wants to do rock-paper-scissors on who gets to take a bath first, just like old times when he spent most of his childhood being your pretend little brother.

Again, little to no drama.

But that's what you think.

Luke is actually secretly petrified at the idea of sharing a bed with you. Not that he thinks of the idea as abhorrent, mind, in fact sleeping with you has been one of his brain's go-to scenarios for his dreams.

He really doesn't want you to be anywhere near him when he moans out your name in his sleep--which he suspects he does, if his memory of his recurring dream about you is not mistaken.

Luke was rummaging through his backpack for a change of clothes when you step out of the shower, wearing only a towel wrapped around you.

To be fair, it is a rather sizable towel, with nary a bare cleavage in sight, and the thick towel covers you all the way down to below your knees.

All things considered, it is a chaste towel cover up, so you are pretty fine parading in it in the same room as he is.

However Luke, as flustered as he already is, is torn between pretending he just didn't see you step out of the bathroom with damp hair and nothing on your person except for that towel; or visibly panic and nope out of the room until you were in a decent state of dress.

He eventually chooses the former.

Luke, pretending to still be preoccupied in looking for whatever he is searching for in his backpack, is doing his best to avert his eyes from you. He also takes care to turn his back towards you so you do not see his brightly burning face--forgetting that his ears betray his furious blushing anyway.

"I'm all done," you say. "I made sure to leave you a bit of shampoo."

"Er--uh. thanks." He hurriedly scrambles to the bathroom.

Sure that he locked himself in his bathroom to do his business, you feel comfortable enough to shed the towel and slip into your clothing.

Nothing odd about that, really, except that Luke knows you are changing into your clothes right at that moment--his well-attuned hearing could even make out sounds of fabric swishing against skin through the thin door separating you and him.

This sends him into a tortured state of existence that you are totally, blissfully unaware of, right up to the moment you fall asleep on your side of the bed.

No drama, really. For you at least.

Poor Luke.

Unbeknownst to your sleeping self Luke could not sleep, not when you, in your deep slumber toss and turn and eventually settle on a position where you throw your arm across his upper body; leg hooked over his waist like how you drape yourself over your body pillow at home.

It's going to be a long night for your poor best friend.

Marius

"Missy," Marius says in his mock plaintive tone, "Pat my head, pretty please?"

The both of you are already lying on your respective sides of the queen-sized bed; the only one available in such short notice.

While you are not entirely opposed to sharing the bed with Marius--you were too tired to raise a fuss about it, anyway--the way he has been acting ever since both of you have settled on the bed is driving you up the wall.

"Marius, please," you say, gritting your teeth. "I am trying to sleep here." You make it a point to turn your back towards him so you don't have to deal with his annoying smirk.

"Eh? Already? Thass boring," Marius pouted. "Can't we like share stories or stuff, or why don't you pat my head already?"

"Marius. Von. Hagen."

"Yeesss?"

"Could you please just let me sleep? Please?" You already feel a headache coming on. If only you could bury your head even deeper into your pillow to block out Marius, you totally would.

"Hmm. No." Marius places his chin on your shoulder, peeking in to look at your face.

"I'm not going to stop til you give in."

Somehow, you think you hear his voice go a couple of octaves lower, as if he has finally dropped his annoying act.

He actually sounded a little bit on the sultry side, even.

Or did you just mishear him?

"So come on, just one pat, please?" Marius says once again in his annoying hammed-up little brother act.

You definitely just misheard him earlier.

Patience frayed, you finally decide to give in. "Fine," you grumble, finally facing him. "Come here."

"Yay!" Marius smiles that ear-to-ear grin (that you do not know he does only for you), and moves close enough to where you lay so that your foreheads almost touch. You even smell on his skin the cheap motel soap that you had to share with him for the night.

You tentatively give his hair a ruffle with your fingers.

"There, happy?"

Marius pouts once again, but the mischievous grin on his eyes is unmistakable. "That's not good enough, Missy~ You should tell me I'm a good boy."

Inwardly you count ten to one. You need all the patience you can get.

Your mouth twists into a forced smile, and you once again tousle Marius' damp, dark hair. "Aren't you the goodest boy, are you, Marius?" The smile doesn't quite reach your eyes, however, for they almost scream bloody murder.

"Haha~ Yay, I finally got my pat!" Marius grins. "Good night, Missy Lawyer~"

Finally. "Good night, Marius."

Marius is a calculating young man. How else could he survive toe to toe with the most conniving, ruthless businessmen in the PAX conglomerate board meetings?

He knew the only way he could get to you, now that he has you alone in the bedroom, sharing a bed with him, is to show that he is not a threat to you.

Annoying, yes, but never a threat.

Otherwise, he could never have you lying down asleep beside him, all vulnerable and defenseless.

He is not one to push boundaries, however, so he contents himself to just curling up behind you close enough to be your big spoon, but not disturb your sleep.

Seeing the rise and fall of your body as you breathe, inhaling the same shampoo both of you used on your hair, hearing your soft murmurs as you dream is good enough.

Maybe, soon, you'd drop your guard down enough to let him take more. And then some more.

Marius grins. As much as he hates Vyn's pompous ass, he is still glad he has a good mentor in him.

Artem

"Artem," you say to him, your voice hoarse with sleep, "Why aren't you sleeping?"

You stir awake in the middle of the night. The bedside clock in the roadside motel you and Artem were forced to duck into is displaying 3:40 AM.

And yet Artem is still sitting on his side of the bed, his back to the headboard, flipping through his notes.

"Don't worry about me. I just couldn't sleep, is all."

It is apparent that his eyes are already getting bleary with tiredness.

"You're tired, Artem, you need your sleep." Alarmed by how much your partner is running himself ragged, you sit up and rub your eyes. "Let me...let me get you some milk..."

"That's not necessary, I--"

But you will not take no for an answer. You both are due to wake up after three hours.

"That's okay." You get up from the bed and step into the slippers that came with the accommodation. "I feel like stretching my legs anyway..."

It only takes you five minutes to pad your way towards the vending machine in the lobby to get a tetra pack of milk for him, and then return to your room.

You take out the small straw that comes with the pack out of its plastic wrap, and stick it into the small milk carton before handing it to your partner. "Here, drink up."

"Thanks..." Artem murmurs as he sets aside his tablet, placing it onto the nightstand, and taking the cold drink from your hands.

You watch him as he takes slow sips of milk, until he finishes the entire drink--you have the suspicion he'd only set it aside, untouched, if you leave him to his devices.

"Do you feel like sleeping now?" you ask him.

"Yeah. I think...I think I do." Artem tries to stifle a yawn. "Thanks again."

Satisfied, you let your tiredness take over you once again, crawling back to your side of the bed and falling back to sleep.

Artem makes sure you fall back to sleep before he sits up and moves to the corner of the bed, as far away from you as he could.

He was already this close from holding your hand over the sheets.

He was already this close from being tempted into holding you in his arms as you slumber.

He was already this close from taking a kiss, or more, from you while you remain in deep slumber.

Artem does not trust himself, and the thought of how much of a monster he could be is keeping him awake.

Vyn

"If you want, we can talk it out and set boundaries, if this arrangement makes you uncomfortable."

Ever the caring psychiatrist that looks out for your mental and emotional needs, Dr. Richter proposes to hash out the boundaries that you need to set your mind at ease.

Your hotel reservation for your planned weekend vacation with him somehow fell through; only a small single bed room remains available and unfortunately, it does not have enough floor space to set an additional bed.

It is already past midnight, so the both of you are forced to take this room and look for better, separate, accommodations first thing tomorrow morning.

"That's alright, Dr. Richter," you say with a confident smile. "I trust you."

Vyn has anticipated this response. "I see. I am glad to hear it.

"Thank you."

His golden eyes glimmer as he smiles.

And so you two decide to share a bed for tonight.

Little do you know you have made a mistake. A grave mistake. Vyn had essentially given you one last chance to set boundaries--that he would respect, by the way, as he is still a man of his word--but silly, naive girl that you are, you have waived that chance of safety away.

"Goodnight, Dr. Richter."

"Goodnight."

It does not take long for you to fall into slumber.

Vyn, however, does not fall asleep. Instead, he lies awake, in the darkness, closely listening to the sounds of your breathing.

He lies in wait until he hears your breathing grow faster, or irregular--the first sign of REM sleep.

Vyn is patient. He can wait all night if need be.

Past the first hour he finally hears it--your breathing returns to how it is when you are awake--and then he makes his move.

Just to be sure that he does not misjudge your sleep state, he applies the slightest of touches to your wrist and checks your heart rate.

Good.

Moving slowly, he adjusts his position so he lies on his side, facing you, watching over you as you sleep.

The main reason IH is bullshit to me is that it's basically just for the stereotype cliche plot. There's the damsel in distress and oh would you look at that, she's in love w the protagonist, and turns out she's actually kinda special (like she has powers) and helps the protag! Except she doesn't, rather than that, i feel like ichigo is just constantly saving her from trouble and she doesn't do anything—though she totally can, her powers can heal, defend, and even attack but even with all the time and training i feel like she's just still the same. She only helps when ichigo is like half-dead, and that makes me wonder if she has something like a necrophilia kink or something and just wants to see ichigo dying.

And i feel like it's the same w RR, it's the childhood friends troupe. I'm kinda tired of it. RR were basically best friends and then they broke off, and then they both couldn't bother to communicate w each other. They're childhood friends, they grew up together, they should've at least noticed if things were going wrong for the other. Yet renji ignored that rukia literally was uncomfortable w being adopted and rukia hid things from renji, like her insecurities and inferiority complex (sorta). It would've been better if they'd just mended thing between them and then went back to their previous relationship, childhood friends, best friends, or even a brother and sister relationship or even just like a casual bro relationship. But kubo made them marry as if it was a rule that childhood friends equals being married to each other. (Maybe that's why i had no friends when i was little)

But w IR, they were complete strangers, then they had to live together, became close slowly and came to know each other. They were close, they trusted each other, they protected each other, helped each other. Just like how a normal relationship should be, they grew closer with time and they developed their chemistry. Yet, with IH, they didn't show any progress in their relationship. It was the same. Their interactions were limited and weren't that memorable (because i honestly didnt care) and it was a repetitive action. Orihime needs helping, ichigo goes to save her, gets sidetracked, almost dies, orihime cries and ressurects him blahblahblah. And dont let me start on how she's scared of him and his full hollow, that's not love if you feel fear. And then with RR after they made up, it was the same as before, they were looking just fine with the relationship they had. Then they got married. What's the story? When did they have feelings for each other? When they were small, it's understandable that they may had a crush on each other. But after growing up and what happened between them? It would honestly be awkward. Both RR and IH weren't given any time to explain why they married each other. Wasn't given anytime to develop their relationship even further and it wasn't shown to us. That's why i believe it's bullshit and they are simply being held at gunpoint by kubo to act along.

IR deserves to be together, Renji can go wreck his captain, and I personally think Orihime deserves to be with Tatsuki.

I agree with many of the things you mentione tbh, aside from some things here and there like Inoue resurrecting him, which she didn't, the hollow would've taken control either way. Renjo said it himself he, Rukia and the other guys were a family. As for IH..eeeh there is lit nothing there lol, no interesting past, no good developed friendship, it's all just so bland. They share lit nothing, somehow tho she keeps being shown alongside Chad, so I guess we should "see" her as another friend. Or the Ichigo cheerleader? Or the people Ichigo has to save? The two people that follow him around? IDK tbh in Chad case there is a mutual understanding, Inoue just insert herself anywhere she could by herself. wanting to do this and that but ending up just being the one to be saved.

Anyway however you look at IH or RR it doesn't change the fact that IchiRuki is and will always be superior in every way. Like you already wrote, we actually got to see them, from the start to the end develop and grow close, without any disastrous s*it like I don't know Rukia being scared of Ichigo, or Ichigo taking Rukia to her execution. You'd think if Kubo didn't get the time to develop IH and RR at least he would've avoided such disastrous content but nope, he gave them that kind of things, while he took the time to give all the good content and development to ichiruki. Makes sense, makes sense, we just have to get where exactly is the sense lol

Napoleon couldn't help but smile in delight at the sight of you teaching the children and decided to offer you a position in his small makeshift school. Now in the mornings, you and Napoleon would fence, and in the afternoon you would teach together.

You loved sitting with the emperor during the breaks, simply just chatting about anything and everything. Although you never noticed it, Napoleon would often watch you with a fond smile painted across his face. He admired your the hard work, patience and kindness you would show to the children whenever you taught them. At this point in time Leon was absolutely smitten with you, but you, you were playing hard to get. He would often turn on the charm only to get no results, it was very push and pull between the two of you. When Napoleon found out you loved to travel he was over the moon, as it was a hobby of his to explore in his free time. Now whenever the two of you weren't busy, Leon would whisk you off to some unknown place for the two of you to sightsee. Oh how he loved to explore places with you, whether it is hidden caves or visiting nearby towns, he would always be wearing the biggest grin. One of his favourite trips, in particular, was the one where he had confessed his feelings for you.

After a while, the man caught on that you were playing hard to get, so he decided that he was done beating around the bush. After your daily fencing match, he told you to meet him in the main hallway in an hour. You were beaming in excitement as you loved to travel around with Napoleon, the man just had a knack for finding the best destinations. You met him in the foyer, and before you knew it, he had swept you off your feet and plonked you down onto his horse. He had absolutely refused to tell you where he was taking you. At some point in the journey, he had placed a blindfold over your eyes as he continued to ride on. Once he had reached the destination, he carefully helped you down from the horse and gently took both your hands in his, to lead you further. With a satisfied nod, Napoleon finally allowed you to remove your blindfold.

You were absolutely awestruck at the sight before you. He had taken you to a hidden waterfall surrounded by flowers. You looked down to see that he had even set up a romantic picnic under the shade of a great big willow tree.

The two of you chatted away when finally, Napoleon decided to confess his love. He took your hands in his and looked you dead in the eyes. However, before he could say anything, out the corner of your eye, you saw a bug crawling onto your picnic blanket. Without a second thought, you screamed your lungs out and leapt into Napoleon's lap, holding onto him like a scared cat. To say that Napoleon burst out into laughter would be an understatement. This man was literally in tears, laughing at your reaction as he slowly reached over to flick the bug off the blanket. He laughed, even more, when he saw that dissatisfied frown dancing across your face. Now cradled in his arms, Napoleon couldn't help by lean in and whisper a quick "I love you" against your lips before giving you the sweetest, tenderest of kisses. He poured all his love and affection for you into that kiss.

Since then you best be sure he would tease you mercilessly about your hatred for bugs.

He honestly didn't mind your sarcastic comments, in fact, he found that side of you to be rather amusing. As this would spark a game of wits between you and Napoleon which, to be honest, usually ended in a tickling match.

Napoleon was in absolute awe at your strong personality and resolve. More so when you told him about your strict parents and their disapproval of your future choices. Napoleon, who had been the emperor of France, knows what you are going through in terms of having big expectations and standards placed on your shoulders. He would support you wherever life took you as he knows now that the true meaning of life is to do what makes you happy, not to do what others expect of you. And so he would support you in whatever choices you made. Just as you have brought a sense of peace and calm to his life, he tries his best to do the same for you.

Leon knows about your tendency to put other before yourself, so you best be sure this man will pamper you and shower you with love and affection. He loves that you are always helping the people around you, so he had made a vow to be the one that puts you first and protect and aid you whenever you are struggling. When he sees you have taken on more than you can chew and you are starting to burn out he will gently wrap you in his arms and kiss your cheek as he asks, "mon amour, what can I do to help.

Oooh, this boy loves that both of you are sleepers. His favourite part of every day is to wake up before you at noon and just watch your sleeping face. He loves those quiet, peaceful lazy mornings the two of you spend together. He will legit shower you with small little kisses to wake you up. He loves to cuddle with you, his favourite place to have you is nestled in his arms, as the two of you sleep the day away. He absolutely loves to spoil you with brunch in bed on the days he wakes up before you.

Napoleon knows the second you are not mentally or emotionally at your best. He knows that during those times he has to give you some space to write. Although Leon can be a little clingy at times, so he will definitely insist you sit in his arms while you write out your emotions. Will definitely drop a few playful kisses on your cheeks and neck in an attempt to cheer you up. If you want to talk out your feelings, he is always there to lend an ear, but he understands if you would want to write it out.

This man will 9/10 times insist you read him your writing masterpieces. He knows you are an excellent writer as he may or may not have peeked at some of your stories.

He will reassure you every day of his love and devotion for you. The day he confessed his love, he gave you his heart, body and soul in an oath. A vow, mind you, that he renews every single year on your anniversary. He is madly in love with you and has found peace in life with you that he has never found with anyone else. He has devoted his life to caring for and loving you.

You can 100% be sure that if the two of you cuties ever have children that he would be the greatest dad and husband anyone could ever ask for. After you had told him about your past and your family, he is sure to remind you every single day just how much he absolutely loves and adores you.

Often the two of you cuties, can be found snuggled up in bed together sleeping the day away, sharing in each other warmth and love. If the two of you aren't enjoying a peaceful day relaxing, you are off on some crazy fun adventure, travelling the world and exploring unknown places together.

Autism test anon here. I am an adult, but I'm pretty estranged from my parents and grandparents (who raised me more than my parents did). I've heard of several adults who didn't involve their parents and were diagnosed but will this affect it in any way? The most I could do is get my dad to call or email (but he works a lot and is super neglectful and in another time zone so that's a soft maybe) Thank you for answering BTW it's made me much more at ease (other than the parents part lol)

I'm glad I could help! I wouldn't stress too much about the parents part. For minors, namely children/young teens, parent reports are probably more essential because the kid can't report their own behaviors as accurately (or even know what's going on to be asked questions, if they are that young). Also they have less years being autistic to draw memories from. For me, all my mom (aka a person who was present during my childhood, so it could be an aunt/grandma/best friend's mom even probably) had to do was the online survey thing I mentioned. I did have the option to not include her at all after I asked about how the test would look and if the word "autism" was going to show up anywhere. I wasn't sure how accepting she would be, just for me to go out and seek a diagnosis, so I didn't want to spook her. If your psychiatrist does the same thing as mine did, your dad could do the survey thing pretty easily (theoretically). My mom had like....2 weeks to do it? Probably longer if she really procrastinated. The two week "deadline" was just from my initial appointment with the doctor when she emailed the link to my mom until the appointment where I did the eval. The psychiatrist was fairly open to me not involving her at all, though. The point is to get as accurate as a background to your childhood as possible, because let's be honest, nobody can remember how they actually were growing up. Also it shows from a different perspective how long certain symptoms were present and if you're blowing things out of proportion or you do have issues socially. The main thing that comes to mind is people saying "omg I don't wanna do my homework I'm so ADHD" or "ugh I can't flirt I'm so autistic" like first off, buddy-pal, your wrong, stop it, ew shut up, but also people do think of themselves as more socially awkward (and also all negative things) as more severe then they actually tend to be perceived as. So having someone else say "yup this person says slightly off things by neurotypical standards" is just like a verification thing. Also you could be lying, which doctors sometimes like to think....🙄. (Also, some traumatic brain injuries result in behaviors/symptoms/changes that actually look very similar to autism; if you had symptoms since birth/a very young age, then it's probably autism, if it's only after, say, you were in a car accident, hmmm maybe not autism). If you can identify yourself as having clear examples and situations from stories like "my mom/dad always used to make fun of me for lining up all my toys by color and size and that was my version of "playing" with them haha" or "yeah, I always needed to be tucked in super tight at night ever since I was a baby otherwise I would cry" stuff like that, then that should be acceptable.

When you give answers to questions, try to think of examples when you were little (either that you remember or that your parents have told you about) around ages 2-7 ish, during your teen years, and also recently as an adult. One example could be: as a kid I hated playing with other kids because my play scene didn't match with theirs and I only wanted to do mine, as a teen I hated group work because we never could agree on the same topic/way of doing things, and now I hate working with coworkers for the same reason" something kinda like that. Might be a tad overkill and you might not be able to even answer fully without being cut off like "hey yeah that's enough info I don't need all that *awkward laugh*" but it really doesn't hurt to be overprepared. This is where writing down some notes and bringing it would be really helpful, or asking to write a follow up email after asking friends/family who knew you growing up. Also, if your dad was neglectful (very sorry to hear about that btw) he might not even know you well enough to report behaviors anyways, so that's something to mention if the psychiatrist needs more reasoning then "he won't respond".

If you really want to overprepare, you can compare different disorders that can present similarly like ADHD, OCD, social anxiety, BPD, etc. and prepare examples according to the ASD criteria that couldn't be examples by a different disorder. Like a lot of my examples I gave mapped pretty well onto only social anxiety and OCD with my previous ADHD dx, so I made sure to discuss the sorta "root" of my social anxiety being how I have difficulties understanding people's intentions and meanings behind their words (rather than mainly talking about how I worry others perceive me).

Now that this has turned into another really long ramble, I'll stop now lol

Oof rant here we go. let’s hope it all makes sense because i ramble a lot when i rant. For me it’s the damn writing for them is why c!ace didn’t work, (the chemistry is another one but the writing drives me nuts) So in s1, c!ace was developed as a somewhat high school/your basic white YA novel couple and they stay like this for the rest of the series, they never grew out of it. Until like their last damn scene in 3x22Most of their writing always fell flat in s1, the moments were either down right creepy or just look like they wanted to bang the entire time, they were supposed to have like romantic stepping stones for their relationship and yet, there was none, nothing felt romantic (this can fall on the no chemistry thing as well but I felt like it was the writing as well). But there was some moments you could be like okay cute, but you can realize everytime they had that ‘oh cute’ moment damn Ruelle was playing in the background so we can just thank her for that. Like in 1x11 they had like this moment about what happened in the TWI universe, they’re talking about how this is real and shit I’m like you are trying to tell me that what they said in the AU world is what they felt? Sh!Jace was there for like two seconds and got stabbed! And sh!Clary legit faded out of existence for awhile there, how did she know how that Clary felt??? I was so confused it was supposed to be a romantic moment and yet it confuses the fuck out of me. S2 things just get worse because of siblings plot shit and the fact is they still try to move them along as a couple but just ended up making them have a brotherly-sisterly bond, and the fact is they probably could’ve ended the plot sooner but choose not to and show us Clary moving on with Simon and Jace sleeping with people to forget he’s in love with his sister. Tbh they forgot about c!ace until 2x14 and they suddenly remembered that they were endgame and rushed to get them back together, which some of their moments during that time was yeah sorta okay I still didn’t feel anything romantic going on for them, that fucking glow-y scene in 2x19 is scarred into my brain, that’s like supposed to be romantic-bonding for 2.0 of their relationship is just what the fuck. Without the special effects I would’ve hated to be a cast member watching them hold onto each other while a fan blows air, I would’ve walked off or just cried from how bad it was. And than we have the oh so famous c!ace scenes in 2x20, I still honestly can’t remember feeling for them here, like yeah he’s dead but hes gonna come back in like two seconds. And that damn “i love you” scene that should’ve been cut, one never addressed it, didn’t make any sense (was just there because someone was a little upset that Malec was gonna get a whole I can’t live without you scene) and two because I feel like because is might have been the road to that damn stupid ass shit Jamie gives them and therefore the other writers who actually have brains had to.So now s3 which is the start of everybody is tired of the unearned crap c!ace is given. Because here is when they start trying to build up c!ace (and s!zzy too) as this epic in love, meant to be couple, which is a lot of my eyerolls in 3a come from. You really don’t see it in the first episode but boy in the ones after it you do. The whole talk in 3x02? Like what the fuck where did that come from because I sure as fuck don’t feel like you have given those emotions off before and I don’t remember you looking like this in the s1/s2 writing where was that and also this is basically Magnus’s fucking lines from 2x07! I don’t remember what the fuck happens in 3x03 other than Izzy wearing that dress and the Malec/Maryse dinner. But 3x04 is just a fucking mess and it’s by our favorite writer Jamie!! Who wrote those incesty lines in 2x04! But she’s here writing lines out for c!ace that don’t make any fucking sense and it’s just for c!ace fans. like the whole “My love for clary is stronger than your magic” bullshit, just what the hell, that whole episode is basically telling me that they love each other, but they aren’t showing me because that’s how storytelling works, you gotta do both, Malec has it, it’s not that hard. And also I totally almost forgot that half of s3 was spent with Jace forcing Clary not to tell anyone about the wish, ooo couple goals, not. Than 3x05 happens, tbh I forgot most, other than the Malec drama with the stupid timeline which effects the whole damn show and the angel getting his heart punched out by Lilith and Jace getting spelled.But yeah that stupid ass two month timeline that effects the whole show because Alec and Magnus really began their relationship in s1, they just didn’t make it official to the whole world in s2. It really hurts c!ace and their epic love story they try to give us. Because how did they fall in love to the point where Lilith had to get Magnus to spell Jace, because he’s so in love with her that it’s stronger than the Queen of Hell’s magic???? Unless they’re trying to tell me that they either fell in love in s1 or during the time they thought they were siblings.Which is really fucking bad, so when did they fall in love?! They never showed me in the episodes’ writing. Anyways moving on, c!ace gets some more toxic moments and that another “I love you” scene which just had me on the ground because why Jesus. Do they do this to me. And than we have Izzy talking about how much Jace has changed since they met Clary which has me like this????? ‘Cause hm, well ever since Jace met Clary, he’s treated his siblings like shit and became even more of an asshole, and that’s stayed the same over the past three seasons? Where is the change? Here you see that they’re trying to make them seem like Alec and Magnus, who’ve actually changed since they met each other, c!ace? That’s nowhere in their writing. Then we have the whole 3x08 thing where he’s killing clary in his mind, which i have no words for that since i only watched it once. 3x10, good episode, no c!ace moments other than that fake ass cry and ‘cLAEEERY’ yell. And now 3b is where we get to see all of the book!c-lace moments that either don’t make any sense or are just plain toxic. 3x11 I basically skip all of the Jace-c!ace related moments mainly because i can’t stand his face and i watch this episode right before i go to bed so yeah. But it’s a good episode. 3x12, oh the famous shitty reunion that falls under bad writing and bad chemistry, I can’t tell if it was the writing or the chemistry for that one, the reunion should’ve been nice ass top tier but yet- we get weird ass smiles, barely any emotion because I know they do write like ‘the character feels happy’ some crap like that, because I remember the 2x20 script having something like that- but with c!ace nothing- just nothing. Just about how Jace wanted to take her to Paris, lol where in the fuck did that come from because he’s never mentioned that, nEVER. Than we got 3x13- lol my favorite episode (not) this episode was just a shitty filler, but the c!ace moments make me wanna sleep and gag which was all of the action I felt during one of their scenes. So in this one they are back together and trying to figure out how to get the rune off of Clary, because first she really doesn’t want to have s-ex with Jace, ‘it’s never gonna be just me and you, it’s him too.’- which they end up forgetting. Than we get the shittiest build up to a first time scene ever, because this just comes out of nowhere really I guess if you count the previous episodes as build up, but there’s no build up in this one, it just comes out of no where really. One minute she’s like I wANT THE RUNE OFF before I get the d to- i mean it’s YOLO, give me that d. Like????? WHERE. But here’s where we get a book-quote that doesn’t make any damn sense but we gotta do it. “I will love you until I die, and even after then” some shit like that, I can’t remember. Does she even say I love you back? But honestly here did that even come from, the writing makes me wanna go hide. And we also get the shittiest written/filmed worse chemistry after first time scene ever. Like it’s supposed to be romantic??? But the way its filmed and written is just so damn bad, all I did was gag my first watch and rewatch of it. Not to forget the whole it’s basically a incest three thing, because her brother decides to send her a message afterwards.And 3x14 which is just ughh, most of the c!ace ones were with her brother, and the fact is the little ice skating thing was meant to be cute, I guess but I really didn’t feel shit, they were barely in the next episode. 3x16, also known as the dumb and dumber part for them, because lets summon Lilith-, but also the whole Jace is able to bring her out of becoming evil works on paper, made me have a headache because how was he able to be the one to pull her back??? Like that trope is amazing but for c!ace doesn’t make sense, because they haven’t shown me that they are in love that much, or care that much. 3x17-3x18, I just remember him being there, that stupid wings shit and her knocking the shit out of him when she turned dark clary. Oh but the next one- me hate. We got Jamie once again proving that she’s a shit writer, because we got c!ace and drugs! And don’t forget the whole she’s gonna force herself on him, but don;t worry he can push her away, even though he’s about to pass out. (And never once address this) Barely of them in the next one, because we got another return of the “Until I die” quote that still doesn’t make sense. That I rolling my eyes again, now in 3x21/3x22 they didn’t actually piss me off or make me roll my eyes, because somehow the writing was finally somewhat good for them. But they had to throw the “Loving cells” quote and comparing themselves to Malec, which writers you aren’t trying to hide at this point you were trying to make them out to be next to the Main couple, when I was like I could like them. Their last scene is so damn good! Like punch in the gut. WHERE WAS THAT THE WHOLE TIME. Shorter story with the writing: C!ace suffered from tell us all about it but we won’t ever show you/unearned development. All because Todd and co were chickens who didn’t want to change the endgame relationships and didn’t write them good.Mainly in the end you can tell that like I said before because they fucked around with them, they had to give them the unearned writing, so they could match up with Malec. Because just like go through gif sets of them, most of what c!ace got is what Malec had before, except better writing and better chemistry. The chemistry is another reason- but I believe the writing is the bigger one in the end.

1. Glimmer has a hatecrush on Catra. What's with her fantasy depiction of Catra as some noir-style sexy villainess? Who refers to fantasy-Glimmer as her rival instead of fantasy-Adora??? Lol Glimmer you ain't slick. Actually, even Catra's interactions towards her seem somewhat lighter, which makes me think it could be reciprocated?

2. Scorpia is gay for Catra and the only thing barring it at this point is the choice of wording ("best friends", "ex-best friend", "besties"). Gal pals anyone?

3. I strongly headcanon Entrapta as potentially ace

4. Frosta clearly looks up to Glimmer in particular and wants her admiration/approval which is adorable

5. Bow has TWO GAY DADS (I know this isn't a conclusion as much as fact but I am STILL SO PSYCHED)

6. Bow's dads probably were so disbelieving that Bow felt he couldn't tell them he wanted to fight in the war because they are literally two gay men who had to deal with this sorta shit themselves and didn't think they could ever project this situation onto their own child albeit in a different way

7. Glimmer and Bow are really close friends and while a future romantic arc is possible I definitely don't see a trace of it this season. I thought it was hinted at in s1 with the whole prom thing but like IDK

8. Hordak gotta be careful to keep up his disdain for Etherians because he's gradually gonna become Entrapta's dad lmao (even if he just wants to make use of her advanced genius). Actually, his "divide and conquer" shit is really obvious when dealing with Catra and Entrapta at the same time, even if Catra herself did manipulate Entrapta into joining the Horde (clearly Catra, Entrapta and Scorpia have built some rapport together in spite of things)

9. Mermista and Perfuma get paired up a lot by the strat team and even though they tend to get on each other's nerves I feel like they could end up being super good friends (goth/prep solidarity anyone? Well Perfuma is more hippie than prep but still)

10. Mermista and Frosta actually work brilliantly together as a pair, and not just because their powers literally complement each other (how did I not get that before...). Their personalities probably match, Mermista being the laid-back adult Ocean Goth and Frosta being the stubborn little budding Ice Goth. While Frosta wants to impress Glimmer, she probably has a more comfortable respect for Mermista, who respects her in turn.

11. I feel like Bow maybe had a thing for Entrapta, or at least a respect and admiration thing if not romantic. He's the one who tries most to reason with her into coming back to their side, and the one who was clearly affected by her defection. He also has like zero romantic engagement with Perfuma in s2 and TBH it didn't seem romantic even during s1 so...

12. I like to think Angella smiles fondly as she sees Frosta trying to hog Glimmer's attention, but also she snickers about it in private when Glimmer gets particularly annoyed

13. Seahawk and Scorpia? Bro-ing it out together when they're both facing similar problems that make them question their self-worth? Iconic. Teaching us all lessons with nuance, whether we agree with their ultimate choices or not.

14. So Seahawk seems deeply into Mermista, who is reluctant to let down her walls completely. Either that or she isn't ready for a relationship but seems to be stringing him along anyway.

Hate It.

21. I suspect Catra had developed a very mild and strange affection for Entrapta beneath her stoicism. Which is why she wasn't more pissed off at Hordak's sudden and blatant favouritism; she probably also knew he was using Entrapta, and Catra is smart enough to see that sort of thing.

22. Is it me or is Catra and Adora moving from "rival romance exes" to "actually fighting each other" now. Like still "not going to kill you in honour of our past" but also "I'm too invested in everything that I'm now responsible for to mess around with you as much"

23. Adora really is the most mature among the set of Princesses but her anxiety at being responsible for everyone's fate needed to be tampered by the more easygoing and lighthearted nature of her collective friend group

24. LOVE the interactions between Adora and Mermista, few and subtle though they may be. Mermista's She-Ra persona Sea-Ra is practically a thinly-veiled love confession, and Adora literally had to grab her by the collar (Tension™) to shut her up about it, which was a little dramatic for Adora was it not. ("Stop talking about this in front of our friends Mermista.") Anyway Mermista made her own She-Rasona action figure and costume, so we know what her hobbies are when she's not busy blushing at Adora's transformations. Also if you look at them during moments where they're not actively interacting but are next to each other they just seem so comfortable and ig my shipper heart is showing

25. Glimmer literally teleported Mermista out of their strat tent when she first came in to disrupt planning, even though Glimmer (and Bow) were initially disrupting the planning themselves. Rude much, Glimmer? Mermista, of course, was undeterred and showed up again with the other Princesses as revenge

26. Which leads us to Glimmer and Adora! Still tight as hell and honestly I'm seeing a real potential for romance here (is it just me or are they like a couple who's become totally comfy with the arrangement). Catra always jibing at Glimmer that Adora will leave her too like some catty ex (heh) but TBH Adora and Glimmer so flawlessly have each other's backs now, they're such close friends in a short amount of time AND they work well together professionally so they're really the next Gay Iconic Power Couple. Sorry Catra

27. I didn't pick up on much interaction between Perfuma and the others (except Mermista's constant criticisms of her and the defensive stance she takes to that). I like to think she's like an older sister who fawns over Frosta and giggles at how "adorable" her frosty tantrums are

28. Didn't see much of Seahawk and Mermista either, other than the fact that she's not inviting him to hang out with her friends.... Which begs the question.....who are Mermista's other friends outside of Seahawk and The Princess Alliance?

29. Speaking of the Princess Alliance, it's rather fitting that we get the slight insight on how different each of them are, coming from their different points of view, personalities, and cultures, and how it causes conflict within the group. Also how the Outer Princesses probably feel left out when the Best Friend Squad/Strat Team do their own thing. Frosta being the youngest, doesn't hold back like Mermista and Perfuma, and just stalks Glimmer. Mermista brings the whole crew into the Strategy tent after she got kicked out by Glimmer. Perfuma seems least determined to infiltrate Adora, Glimmer and Bow, but still eager to help the team at every turn. Spinerella and Netossa are too busy being one of the best Gay Iconic Couples and Bright Moon knights and constantly forget that The Princess Alliance is a Thing now

Glimmer tried to give him an out from worrying about Mermista which he totally proceeded to disregard, and Adora probably just doesn't understand the issue. Good thing he met Scorpia, eh

Of betrayals and backstabbings | The Dragonpit edition

Yeah the title really doesn't make a lot of sense, but I liked how it sounded 🤷🏻 I kind of wanted to explore the whole Jon betraying Dany thing again, and why the Dragonpit scene conclusively ended any doubts I might have had regarding that.

I've been staunchly against the concept of Jon betraying Dany and I've addressed it multiple times already. Betraying Dany doesn't fit in Jon's character sketch. There a million already existing problems which everyone has to deal with, and Jon playing Dany is not one of them. Of course, then we have the classic case of Ygritte brought up. If Jon could betray her for the Night's Watch, why can't he betray Dany for his family? What antis conveniently forget every time they bring this up is that Ygritte (and the wildlings) were coming to destroy the Night's Watch (and a ton of innocent people while at it). So Jon betrayed her because he had no other option. Dany is coming with her armies and dragons to save Jon's home, save the North...so why, why would Jon betray her? What would he have to gain by this?

Consider this. When Sansa and Arya played Littlefinger, that was awesome! We not only supported it, but we were thrilled af when it happened! But what about when Littlefinger had betrayed Ned Stark, and that was after telling him he shouldn't have trusted him? I mean, he had warned him earlier hadn't he? So the betrayal wasn't out of the blue, right? It was something we should have been expecting, wasn't it? But did we support that? Did we agree with or sympathise with Littlefinger?

And okay, when Jon betrayed Ygritte, who did you agree with more? Did you feel bad for Ygritte but also felt that Jon had done the right thing? Could you see Jon's struggle between love and duty and acknowledge that the right choice wasn't as easy to make?

Why were our reactions different to all those situations? Short answer - motive. Our reaction to betrayals are based on the motive, and how well it is portrayed in the narrative. 'A woman murdered a man' evokes a different reaction than 'a woman executed a man who had led to the death of her own father'. Throw in the fact that he was still trying to get her to kill her sister, and we not only agree with the woman in question here, we are positively cheering her on! Because that's the difference motive makes - it justifies actions otherwise considered wrong, and we have numerous examples of it in Game of Thrones. My personal favorite, of course, is Jaime and the Kingslayer story because it perfectly highlights the difference between us knowing the reason, or judging the action as it stands.

So what could be Jon's motives for playing Dany?

We have the obvious, to protect his family and Winterfell from the unstable witch (that is supposedly Dany on tumblr).

But that's the thing again antis. Dany has never once, not once threatened or even implied in extremely vague terms anything that could be constituted to be a threat to Winterfell or the Starks. In all their interactions, whenever she wanted Jon to bend the knee, she never even went in the general area of threatening his family if he refused to. The issue of family wasn't brought up at all in that sense, so the idea that she would harm his family now, after having clearly developed feelings for him, has only sprung from the minds of the Jonsa Fandom who very much want it to be true because it justifies their POV and their ship. Because the assumption that Dany would want to destroy Winterfell, destroy the Starks and Jon realized this and is appeasing her by catering to her romantic feelings would work extremely well if, if it had been implied anywhere at least once, even if vaguely. But it hasn't been portrayed, and by itself fails to suffice as the motive setting up Jon conning Dany.

Jon will never betray Northern independence for love, and is only faking it to protect the North from Dany's ire.

Considering that the North was already protected from Dany's ire before Jon pledged himself to her, I don't even know where this comes from. Dany promised to fight the White Walkers without asking anything in return (an action which squarely put her in the 'good guy' category), Jon playing her to accomplish something which had already been accomplished is not only senseless, paranoic and unnecessary, but it also would then put him firmly in the douchebag category. Dany let him keep the North, only for him to offer it to her twice, and then ultimately turn right around and say lol, kidding?? Really Jonsa peeps? That makes sense to any of you? Why is it so hard to accept that Jon judged her worthy of his allegiance? But of course, that wouldn't work for the antis and this mess is far more appealing.

About the Northern independence though, I've already mentioned it before, but I'll say it again. The whole 'King in the North' concept arose because the Starks would not accept the Lannisters as their king, not after what they had done. Supporting the Baratheons would have been treasonous and dishonourable, and would have embroiled them in a civil war they had no interest in being part of. The main reason however, was that the Northern Lords had grown disillusioned with the Southern kings who did not care about the Northern issues at all and only paid attention to the North when it was in their own interests. Now, with Daenerys pledging herself to defeat the White Walkers, the entire dynamic of the game had changed, the Southern ruler in point, was not a Lannister or a Baratheons, but a Targaryen, who was coming to save the North instead of abandoning them to their plight and, contrary to popular belief, could in fact be trusted. The North Remembers, and it is this that Jon hopes the North will remember once the Walkers have been defeated, that Daenerys is not her father. So, in short, Jon is not playing Dany for Northern independence because it's frankly ridiculous and the alternative (he feels she's a worthy ruler) makes much more sense in this case.

Jon is playing Dany for Sansa's sake, either because he took her advice about not making mistakes seriously or he's deeply in love with her.

This is a very shipper reason, as canonically there has been no love shown from either of them, but I would have still accepted this reason if they hadn't already made it crystal clear that Jon and Sansa don't agree politically. They both have different views regarding politics, and while Jon does ask her for her opinions, he does what he believes he should do anyway. Also, while Sansa has a more grounded worldview which takes into account people's feelings and motivations - rewarding those true to you for their loyalty (Karstarks and Umbers), taking Cersei more seriously, not abandoning the North and literally everything else, Jon's are more idealistic and based on his strong moral code of 'honor' - not taking the castles away from the Karstarks and Umbers, choosing to believe in Tyrion, putting his own life on the line to save his people (by going to Dragonstone). Jon has been consistently portrayed, all throughout this season, as valuing honor above everything - a very strong Ned Stark trait tbh - and not taking Sansa's advice as seriously as he should (which is what she notices as well, and it upsets her). So with this set-up, believing that he is actually playing Dany because of what Sansa has told him is, quite frankly, a stretch, because there is no narrative indication which would make us believe that. This would also explain Sansa's reaction to learning he had bent the knee, she's resigned to it because she knows that though Jon loves and respects her, he still does what he thinks is the right thing to do. Also, Sansa doesn't berate him for doing what he did in the way she would have had she believed he had been repeating Ned's and Robb's mistakes - - > she doesn't believe he's making those mistakes ie bending the knee to Dany is not disastrous (as the antis would have you believe). Sansa is upset because Jon clearly didn't consider asking Sansa's opinion about a very important political decision, and she's upset because she knows that the Northern Lords will not accept this easily, but she doesn't react as if it's the worst thing in the world ever, nor does she act thoughtful, which would have indicated that all is not as it seems. In short, Sansa's reaction is very much expected under the circumstances, which are that Jon doesn't take her as seriously as he should. And given this, it seems unlikely to imagine that he's in cahoots with Sansa and they're taking down the Dragon Queen together (together! 😂)

Every reason for Jon playing Dany would have worked if the narrative had given some sort of suggestion about a possible motive, some indication of Jon treating Sansa's advice seriously, or made Jon give up the North before she pledged to fight the Walkers. And the nail in the coffin for the 'undercover lover' theory was the Dragonpit scene. Nothing would have cast stronger doubts on whether Jon truly loves Dany or not, than him accepting the truce. Despite it being the smart political move, it would have also raised a tiny red flag regarding Jon's true intentions, in my mind at least. Jon basically had nothing to lose by accepting the truce, nothing except for his honor. And that made him refuse! It wasn't just him making a public proclamation that he loves Dany (although it sorta was 😂), it was him being faced with a choice to sacrifice his honor, his word, to get what he wanted, it was him being asked to choose whether he truly was his father's son, it was him being expected by the one who knew the truth to do the dishonourable thing for the greater good. He could have lied and supported Dany later, he could simply have walked away from the battles to come because they didn't directly concern him and his people and let Dany fend for herself. But would it have been the honorable thing to do? Smarter, yes. Wiser, yes. More beneficial to his own people, yes. But honorable? After taking Dany's help to defeat the White Walkers, which let's be honest, are a far greater threat to the North than anywhere else, after taking her armies and dragons to save his home and then turning his back on her when Cersei came at her with fresh forces would have been as far from honor as possible. If Jon has indeed been playing Dany all along, then he should have accepted Cersei's offer - which would not only have placated the Northern Lords later, but would also have served as a potential hint of him playing Dany. But in keeping with the characteristic theme of this season, Jon chooses honor over the alternative more politically savvy choice. He upset everybody, even Dany, with this choice when he could have gone with the easier one, which would have ensured everyone - those at the Dragonpit as well as the Northern lords - would have been happy with the outcome. Everyone would have gotten what they wanted, and the subsequent - if any - reveal of Jon having played Dany all along would have made much more sense to the audience.

But Jon did not make the easy choice. The deliberate inclusion of this scene was only to portray that even when the choice is tough, Jon would choose honor. This is his character, his identity. Also, the callbacks to Ned Stark, aside from foreshadowing that when the time comes to choose, Jon would most likely choose his Stark heritage, remind us that Ned Stark valued honor above all, and the only times he sacrificed it was over love - love for his sister and love for his daughters, which caused him to abandon his honor for their survival. So for Ned Stark's son to betray a woman who trusts, loves, respects and admires him, a woman who's had the same struggles in life as he himself has, a woman who is willing to set aside her own personal goals to help him destroy the threat to his home, for him to betray a woman who has already given him everything he wanted, is actually a betrayal of Ned Stark's legacy and everything he stood for. By going so far as to blatantly lie in Ned Stark's name, Jon would have, in one stroke, destroyed everything that Ned Stark inculcated and symbolised, given what we already know about him having no motive at all for the undercover lover angle. So the callback to Ned was very necessary in highlighting that Jon is truly Ned's son, and throwing away his honor without an ironclad reason is not his character. It's simply not.

Also, this scene was very important because it very starkly set up the contrast between Jon (and even Dany) and Cersei. Remember how all of us were totally skeptical about believing Cersei at all in the first place? Even after the convincing reason of her wanting to protect her to-be-born child, it still was hard to believe that she would actually help them. And why was that?

'When enough people make false promises words stop meaning anything. Then there are no more answers, only better and better lies.'

As the audience, we now know not to trust Cersei. Even when she's being completely sincere, it's hard to trust her because her words have long since stopped meaning anything to us, she's not someone who's promises we'll ever trust, because as Jon said, they are only better and more elaborate lies. And lies won't help us in this fight. So Jon not lying is very important to show us this difference, of how we basically trust Jon's promises and how cautious we are when it comes to Cersei. And as if that's not enough, Cersei's scene with Jaime lays it all completely out, when Jaime is do adamant about sticking to his promise and is struggling to understand how Cersei could have lied to them.

Cersei: I'll say whatever I need to say to ensure the survival of our house

To Cersei, the priority is only her house, her family, to the point that she can't even acknowledge the enormity of the Northern threat. She's focused on ensuring her family's survival, everyone else be damned. And that is categorically shown as an evil thing. Saying whatever is needed to be said, making false promises, basically everything that the Jonsa fans expect from Jon is clearly and emphatically shown to be evil, to be wrong. The whole purpose of the Dragonpit scene is to bring out this contrast between Jon and Cersei - Cersei doesn't care about futile things such as honor and promises when the question is about her own family's survival, Jon however not only cares about the realm, as a whole, but he also highly values honor and takes his promises seriously. We even have Jaime Lannister (my cute nugget 💖) walk away from Cersei, whom he loves above and beyond all, because of his honor. If, after all this, Jon is shown to not have any honor at all, then...
