Sooooooooooo I read the book and then I watched the movie. Safe to say, I LOVED it. Who doesn't want some wholesome gay fluff and smut, I know I do.

For anyone who doesn't know, it's an enemies to lovers romcom about The Prince of England and the son of the US president. I knowwwwww I was screaming.

If you have any interest in reading Red White and Royal Blue and are at an appropriate age for some soft spice, then definitely do!!! It was a real treat!!

Me and Jan are currently obsessed with this movie, sending each other clips back and forth, lol.

AWH... I'm skipping through Roier's QSMP Day 1 VOD because I'm looking for a specific thing, and I just noticed that when Jaiden stands in front of the group to do her introduction and her mic isn't working, Mariana laughs (not in a mean way, I laughed too) and Roier immediately smacks him and tells him off for laughing.

It's such a little thing, but I think it's really sweet in retrospect, especially considering how Roier and Jaiden have become such good friends in recent weeks :')

just remembered a wip i had which was jay at uni meeting normal people and desperately trying to act cool and normal whilst internally screaming about being in a whole new place with all new people and not having his gang with him

#i only wrote one scene where jay meets one of his flatmates #and he’s trying to make casual normal conversation & asks her who her parents are #bc that has always mattered! on the isle or at auradon prep your parentage was also a Conversation Starter #and the girl is just like ……what. why do you want to know that #but she tells him and jay makes it into a joke like hehe oh yes i met them at a soirée once. amazing company #and the girl is like ok who are YOUR parents. knowing full well who he is #and jay says that his dad fosters puppies. and the girl says that sounds like a good life and he’s like ohhh just the BEST #i really. love exploring jay at uni i’ve written a couple of things i’ve never finished #like!!! for the first time for years he’s well and truly all alone!!!!#and at least the isle & ap had similarities. uni is just full of very normal people who don’t particularly give a shit #and jay who is like THE guy who cares about everything so much all the time and how people are reacting to him and he’s desperately trying+#to be so cool and unbothered whilst trying not to revert to his isle tactics regarding people who may be threats #just. being somewhere so so new. with no one he knows. everyone else is so far away. and jay is missing his gang like he’d miss+#his body parts. and it’s like. jays always buried his own emotions & hurt so he can better protect his gang #and now he has no gang to protect #and he is just laid absolutely bare. and also constantly stressing about not being there for the others #i just think he’d have an absolutely awful start to uni <3 #descendants #jay son of jafar

I really enjoyed the first Doctor Who special but there were a ton of parts that made me groan and it was entirely based on clumsiness over practicality. You're telling me that wheelchair user has never faced stairs in the field before?! Her wheelchair is specialized for UNIT. The Daleks can go up stairs, UNIT can't make something that works for her? Otherwise, wouldn't the UNIT guys just know it's cool to go ahead without her?!?!

There's a line about the Doctor not understanding how to let things go bc he's male presenting which really bugged me. Thirteen, as a femme person, didn't let things go either. That line was so clumsy and weird, the Doctor being unable to let things go has nothing to do with his gender, it's just who he is. I know plenty of non-male presenting people who CANNOT let things go. Just a weird ass line.

The actual episode was fun and good, I just wish they had let things just... exist. I wish Rose picking her name hadn't been bc of the mindwarp/ that her identity as a trans girl hadn't been connected to anything to do with aliens or the Doctor. I liked Rose making toys as a side hustle. I dunno, it felt so rushed/ emotional moments didn't hit for me, and I wish they went for casual representation because the attempt didn't land to try and fit all that in, and it was clumsy. I didn't need them to tell me Rose was trans like four times instead of just letting it be a part of her rather than like one of like TWO things we know about her!! All the characters had to do was exist in the story.

persona 4 COULD have been a groundbreaking game in late 2000's early 2010's. it could have been a " mainstream " (mainstream in moderately sized quotes!) game that showed complex, flawed queer people as the main characters. but it doesn't. it heavily implies its characters are queer, changes its mind, and then produces some of the most homophobic and transphobic writing you've seen in a long time. persona 4 wants to make something beautiful so bad but it feels like its too afraid to actually do anything and ends up going back to its old homophobic/transphobic tropes.

I have a lot of fondness for clunky Hallmark Christmas romance movies with rock bottom production values, vaguely established and extremely contrived plots, dodgy dialgoue, often questionable line readings, and child actors playing a kid who seems either three years younger or older than themselves. Hallmark have not undermined themselves with glib, self aware irony or attempted to "elevate" the delightful low artform that they excel in. Refreshing, honestly.

#netflix could never #they are incapable of that level of earnest storytelling #for this specific kind of story at least #because they think they're better than it #hallmark knows that none of us are too good for a movie about an autistic marine biologist #who thinks her best friend's brother ghosted her after they hit it off at the friend/sister's wedding #and *tells him* that repeatedly to his face instead of not addressing it #and he's like 'I definitely replied ot your email! you ghosted me! but let's let bygones be bygones. It's The Holidays' for the whole movie #and the resolution is that it got saved in his drafts #amazing #what other studios are delivering this level of banal miscommunication #what other movies have b-plots about learning how to be good at talking to interns as well as seals?#where little kids read poems they wrote at a christmas parties that sound *exactly* like a little kid wrote them?#and not in the 'kids who haven't internalised cliche yet can write some beautiful lines' way #mystic christmas: would recommend to a friend #there are no supernatural elements btw #that's the name of the town #which literally could have been named anything because it doesn't seem to be important to the plot at all #and no one makes any plays on 'mystic' that relate to its literal meaning
