he may be spider man—brooklyn's number 1 defender from all kinds of bad guys that wanna hurt people and rule the world or whatever else their dark overzealous hearts desire—but he's still a human being, a kid named miles morales who's expected to head back to his dorm at brooklyn visions academy, call home at least once every day, and get passing grades in all his subjects on top of being a crime fighter and baby powder endorser (which crashed and burned).

he was exhausted and couldn't wait to head to bed, but as it turns out, ganke accidentally locked the window to their dorm and went to bed, forgetting miles was taking some long hours doing his patrol as spider man. miles sighed, he tried calling ganke to wake him up, but ganke's phone is always on silent, that wasn't enough to wake him up. with a sigh, he tried to make his way to someone else's dorm and book it out of there as if he never even entered—but as he was enacting that plan, he spotted a familiar face looking at him with a curious smile.

"hey, peter pan." you teased him as miles smiled from underneath his mask. "ah, hey, what are you doing up right now?" he asked you as you opened your window up for him to come in and let him enter. "just finishing up some homework, yeah. you?" you asked him so casually, as if the spider suit didn't give it away. he took his mask off as you saw that his smile didn't look as bright, cheery, nor energetic as before—he appeared tired. "you good?" you asked him as he nodded, despite the fatigue. "just... a lil' worn out, i guess." he said as he sat down on your bed, with you sitting down next to him, too. "well, i have just the right remedy." you said as you extended your arms out to him and smiled widely. "don't be shy, c'mon now, if you wanna get teased by the cuddle monster to cheer you up, they're here now." you said in a playful voice as miles smiled and lightly chuckled.

he wrapped his arms around you and took in the wonderful feeling of your warmth and softness against him. it had been a long while since he's been held like this, and he certainly doesn't want this feeling to end. your touch is so comforting and lovely, he feels like all the happiness in the world had been condensed into your embrace for him, and he's not letting go of you any time soon. "you feel so cuddly... like a teddy bear..." he murmured as you chuckled and held him tighter. "you're more of the teddy bear than i am, ya softie." you teased him as he chuckled and murmured an 'i guess that's right' to you as he held you closer to his chest, savoring the feeling of being held by you and feeling all his stress, worries, and physical pains that have accumulated throughout his day just melt away as he holds you close and you hold him even closer.

It's really not erasure to ship aromantic characters y'all are just obsessed with policing the boundaries between romantic and platonic relationships.

"oh unless you specify it's only queerplatonic" Are you even hearing yourself? Do you turn to the camera and say "I am kissing my friend queerplatonically" or say "there is no romantic or sexual intent here" before kissing your mother?

Like. 80% of what people write/draw/fantasize for romantic ships can BE queerplatonic without having to state it. When people say "they're in love you honor" they don't mean "they wanna get monogamous married and feel romantic attraction for each other". They're fantasizing about companionship and epic love and being willing to die for each other and domesticity and growing and healing together and making each other better (or worse!). This is also why people would often ship straight male characters that has no romantic inclination towards each other at all in canon. Because ultimately people wanna see characters in love more than they wanna see characters being romantically attracted to one another.

But. Also. Like. People are literally just sharing their fantasies. You could just. Not look at it without getting all highlander about it. Just live and let live.

Captain of New Star Station's phantom hybrid flock

"Aha!" Bdubs grabs Grian by the wrists, yanking him forward. He pulls him, twisting him through a dopey dance in the kitchen. Grian yelps, socked feet twisting and gripless, and that just makes it better. "You want to be cringe and free!"

"I could do without the cringe," he protests, flapping his wings as Bdubs spins and prances with him, "but I do wish for love."

"Well, being truly known's the same thing, isn't it?" He swings Grian around to the other side. Grian squawks, pixels thickening and flipping over in his face. Purple flecks glitter underneath. He may as well've been run through a storm drain and flushed out the other side. "Tell you what! I'll love Etho if you love Mumbo, deal? Junglemate's honor!"

"Bdubs, that's not a deal."

"'Course it's a deal! It goes both ways; that defines it. Whadaya think? You wanna seal it?"

"… Yes."

"Let's do it, then." And he laughs, 'cuz it feels so good to love. It's what captains do, you know. When all hope is lost, look to the captain. Put all your faith in 'em, even when it looks like they're steering the wrong way. Captains always guide you back towards the light. Didn't you know Minecrafters like to move in circles? It's a way of stalking prey. "Always, and 'til the end!"

Grian catches a grip on the floor. "Bdubs? Bdubs, I hate to ask, but… What was the reason? Why didn't being romantic work with Etho? I mean, what made you feel like being queerplatonic partners made sense? How did you know?"

Bdubs' tail twitches at the end. Mossy shawl is crooked now, plushy bits tucked too tight against his neck. He pulls it around again. "I think being romantic would've worked a while, but this is what felt right. Just better this way long-term. Now, enough about Etho-"

"Do you ever regret it?"

Wow. Parrot stereotypes are true, then. Once they get their talons in something, they latch on tight and don't like letting go. Of course, that's mostly when they're dead. It's not his business, but Grian's watching, and Grian's a less experienced player, and he came from another world. Bringing him into the rest of the flock and teaching him things is what a captain does. "No? I don't regret choosing Etho."

"I meant the QPR," Grian says impatiently, taking his bar stool again. "I mean, that's a big conversation to have, right? And once you say it, it's hard to walk back and change your mind. I mean, what happens if you feel ready to be romantic?"

'Ready,' huh? Geez. Tell me you really don't know what's up with me and Etho without telling me you don't know anything about us.

Mm, scattered possibilities on how to answer that one. It's like a deck of cards strewn across the table- stat poker at its worst. Bdubs gazes back with his tail gently waving.

"Is this about you?" he asks in easy deflection. Grian's wings jump. "Communication's always gonna be your best bet. I think if you wanna change up your lifestyle, you can tell your partner straight, so long as you realize they might end things with you there- You get me?" He gestures to his wrist-comm then. "I mean, Brittney and I swing different ways all the time. We just let each other know when something comes up or we wanna see someone else."

Brittney's good. Doesn't expect him home too much; she knew what she was marrying into. He was already captain of New Star by the time they woke up with shared rings.

… It's nice though, huh? For the first time, he really eases his shoulders back, no longer compensating for heavy wings. Martyn's acting captain tonight. It's not his first time, though it usually doesn't last for long.

He may have burned his wing pixels off, but other than fly, Bdubs can do whatever he wants. As far as Martyn knows, he finished the delivery route. And the fact that he didn't isn't his problem tonight. If Martyn's too busy flirting with Cleo to catch an insubordinate flockmate in the act, well, consider this a lesson learned. He still glitters with white sparks wherever his bare skin faces upwards, like on the backs of his hands.

I can do… whatever I want. Isn't that something? Under the full moon, even! Usually he'd be bare-chested by now, wrestling Martyn while a crowd looks on. If Martyn enacts a challenge, anyway. He sometimes likes to. Bdubs' fingers brush the red feather hanging at his chest. He didn't give much consideration to wearing it. He just played along. This is Yes, And? This is fun. And he's out here doing whatever he wants.

Grian looks on, curious as ever. "I mean, you want him, don't you?"

"Do I ever! And got 'im right here!" (Not here here, but you know how it is under the wing).

"Aren't you disappointed?" Grian asks, foot twisting against the bar stool's little foot rest. He slouches against the counter. Maybe birds just like to perch on things. "I mean, you can't carrot with Etho now, if you're queerplatonic."

What? "Yeah I can." And this time he's more firm about it: "Etho and I can do whatever we want. Don't look at me! It's like you and Mumbo spawning a spark together when you're not dating. Raising kids together is fine." His eye twitches even as he says it. See, that's where the problem started.

Bdubs isn't really looking to be a dad right now. Right now, the flock comes first. He's saving his energy for when he, like Impulse and Jewel, takes his beloved's kids under his wing. Well, the players and cameras synced up to those kids, anyway. Four's a lot. Two's a lot, and it prob'ly won't be much longer before they're here- They're getting big. He gets emotion bleed of 'em on the regular, when they sit themselves in Daddy's lap or hang on his shoulders to watch him play.

Raising four kids someday ('cuz who doesn't take the cameras under their wing too?) is gonna burn him out. That's when he's gonna be so weak, Martyn takes his place as flock captain. Heck, Bdubs will throw the fight if he has to. The flock comes first, and once he's got his own, his time as captain's gonna run dry. Brittney and the kids are gonna be his flock then.

That's the schism between him and Etho, see, which is none of Grian's freakin' business. But Bdubs can't see himself raising server-restricted sparks this late in life when his real, Between dimension family is gonna get a whole lot bigger in a couple hundred years. He doesn't need babies. And Etho, who huddles up alone more often than he should, wants a litter he can lick and snuggle and hold.

It didn't end their friendship. It's just dangerous to dance around. They agreed a long time ago carrots were off the table. Bdubs is pretty sure Etho's never gotten his love hearts up before, and that makes him all the more unpredictable. Too wild. Unrestrained. It's just not worth the risk, 'cuz if an accident happened, Etho would whine and plead for him to stay. Void, he loves Etho. But accidents come easy, and Joel's living proof of it- Hermes is just one example…

Bdubs does not talk to Etho about Joel. Or Cleo, for that matter. Yeah, he'll play up his role as kid in the Clocker family, but he sheds it like a snakeskin when he's not in the mood. Except for "family dinner nights," where he's expected (and MCC watch parties by extension), he doesn't roleplay Clocker stuff in Between. Not in the teasing, flowery way that Etho, Scar, and Cleo do. On-server is full of emotion bleed- Scar got it right when he picked a puppet skin this season.

But Between is where he's real, and he's not gonna waste it roleplaying as the lowest member in the pecking order. Except for when it's fun.

A common fanon between spearmaster and rivulet relations is that they foil each other and appear as polar opposites by vibes. Spearmaster is quiet and relaxed, while Rivulet is loud and energetic.

This is not a say for all spearmaster and rivulet dynamics. I just find it neat that a lot of people agree they can be associated with each other in some way and make it work.

Ok this is pretty long because you pressed all the right buttons to keep me talking for, like, hours, so I'm just gonna put it under the cut. But before I even do that, I have to get the most important thing out of the way- you are so flipping amazing, thank you for the ask, I'm glad you're liking your time here so far, and no need to apologize :D

Underrated platonic / queerplatonic / etc pairings? Where should I start?

First of all, platonic Illinois and Indiana. They are besties your honor. It's like opposites attract but platonic. Good cop Indiana, bad cop Illinois. Also uber-cautious Illinois and safety hazard Indiana. Indiana is probably bi or pan or something like that and aromantic Illinois just has to listen to his relationship problems and be like, "yes, this definitely makes even a little bit of sense to me, yes, romance, perfectly reasonable." But in my mind, Indiana was one of if not the first person Illinois came out to as aromantic and Indiana was really supportive (of course) so he completely understands that when he talks to Illinois about relationship stuff, Illinois will stare at him blankly and the best advice he will offer is "break up with them."

Also. North and South Dakota. This isn't, like, a rare pair, but it's definitely slept on. Like, everyone acknowledges that they're twins and hang out literally constantly, but I feel like there aren't many fics that actually focus on their dynamic. And that is a wasted opportunity. Y'know what, I might have to write a fic for them soon.

Ok, polyamorous / polycule relationships! First up, Alaska / Hawaii / Rhode Island. My reasoning? Basically 100% "Rhode Island Joins the Table," because Rhode has banter with Alaska and Hawaii calls Rhode cute. And I mean, I'm sure I don't have to explain that Alaska and Hawaii love each other. I don't even have the words for how much I love these three. They work so well together because they're all so snarky and awesome and just, aaah, I love them all as individuals and in a polycule.

And of course the four corners. That's probably a pretty standard answer, but it's standard for a reason, man. Arizona / Colorado / New Mexico / Utah- they're iconic. How did this start? Who the hell knows. We all looked at a map and were like, "yeah, look at that, four states that meet at a single point. Polyamory at its finest." But I love it so much because there's hyper-religious Utah, demon boy Arizona, tired and hungry New Mexico, and just-chilling Colorado, and they're all so unexpectedly soft with each other and it's perfect, man, it's perfect.

Also!! You are very cool and nice! Don't worry, there's no pressure to interact if you're not feeling up to it. I understand <3. And that means so so much to me haha. I remember when I joined the fandom a couple months ago, that everyone was instantly so sweet and welcoming, and I'm very happy that now I'm one of those people for you!! It's like, circle or life or whatever. I don't know. I'm just happy you've had a good first experience with the WttT community. It's awesome here :D

i hope i can articulate this properly but the problem (for me) with how they've written most of the love interests for buck & eddie so far is that they've never gotten them integrated with the other main cast much at all. so it feels a little like they're taking away screen time i'd rather see spent on other people with scenes that are just buck + LI at home or eddie + LI at home (although they can at least get chris in there with those too)

like in restrospect it's kind of hilarious actually that taylor was involved in way more scenes with the 118 before she and buck got together then after

I think your feelings are echoed by many in the fandom, and it's the main reason why I stopped pondering the future for Natalia and Marisol. I personally don't see what a DIY-er and a death doula are going to bring to the firefam dynamic when neither character has a history with them (TayKay) or is a parent to someone's kid (Karen, Shannon). I do have a couple #unpopularopinions in relation to this, though. o1. Difficulty integrating has not been limited to Buck and Eddie Lis. Michael was a main. He had his best friends, his kids. But did his love life get a lot of attention prior to the hospital explosion? And then why did the hospital explosion episode even happen? To give those characters a friendly sendoff. Had Rockmond never been let go over his actions, we can't say that part of his story would have gotten any better.

Maddie is a main. She has a child with a firefighter. They're getting married. Why does Maddie go missing in big moments? Why was she not around during the dispatch fire or Henren's vow renewal? Why is she not having "girl talk" with Hen and Karen, her soon-to-be-husband's best friends? Why is she so isolated that the fandom can't even agree on who would be her maid-of-honor? o2. Buck and Eddie can't both have first responder LIs, I'm sorry. Yes, it's the logical choice if the show wants to make new characters "fit", but that would leave only one of the mains with a LI as a background presence - Hen. I realize that the show isn't actually for us gays, but having the lesbian relationship be the one with intentionally less screen time is a path I'd prefer they not take. o3. Not directing at any specific person because I don't know the opinions of every single one of you, but I will repeat something I said the other day and apply it to future LIs. *I* think it's too little, too late not only to get the GA on board with Buddie, but also to get the fandom - the Buddie shippers - on board with other LIs. The excuse for not liking outside relationships has been that they don't feel like part of the family (agree there), but had Tim shut down the possibility of Buddie for good with Ana, or brought in a new LI for Buck in 4B that wasn't previously criticized...we wouldn't be having these conversations today. Lucy comes in as a first responder and people hate for the cheating angle, sure, but what really stung for most of them was the reminder that the fate of Buck and Eddie would never have been a debate were we watching a man and a woman as opposed to two men. Eddie could fall in love in season seven and the reaction would be "Why does Chris need a new mom when he already has Buck???" Um, because Eddie is supposed to be straight? The only way for Buddie to be co-parents without the confirmation would be if we were watching a queerplatonic relationship. Except...neither one is queer.

You know when you try to clean a stain and somehow make it look worse than it already was? That's what it feels like to watch this show and those characters post-s4.

If you fall under this category, please do me a favor and think about all your different types of f/os (romantic, platonic, familial, queerplatonic) reminding you in so many different ways that your worth as a human being, your right to enjoy your life however way you see fit, your inherent inner and outer beauty as an irreplaceable, loveable person isn't reliant on your weight.

For those with romantic f/os

• Think of your f/o constantly taking any and every opportunity to praise your looks.

° Think of them calling you that praising adjective that really gets to you i.e. Handsome, Gorgeous, Stunning, Adorable, whatever the adjective is, they use it freely and mean it every time! Doesn't matter it you're dressed down or dressed up, your f/o is constantly in awe of you!

- If you ever feel comfortable wearing outfits that show some skin, please know it'll fluster the living daylights out of them not just because they're seeing you so confident but also howdy??? Have you seen yourself?? You're STUNNING how could they not be in awe of how attractive you are???

• Think of them ALWAYS so eager to kiss and hold you in their arms if you're comfortable with that or if you prefer, eager for you to hold them!

° Whichever way you prefer it, your f/o is simply glad to be close to you and share that intimate space with you and you alone! You're their entire world! Think about how often they long to kiss you when you're not around and how visibly excited they get when they see you after being apart, how they rush to you without a single moment of hesitation, merely wanting to be with you again!

• Think about them holding you / you holding them close and them telling you as many times as you need to hear it that they wouldn't change a single thing about you and that they love you as you are.

When they fell for you they didn't just fall for your heart and mind, they fell for your body too and they consider themselves lucky that you reciprocated entirely.

°Think about them asking how they can prove that to you. Trust them to tell them what they can do so they can do it. It's what you deserve.

For those with platonic f/os

• Your platonic faves are ALWAYS down to hype you up when it comes to your appearance!!

° They notice when you're feeling confident and when you're not feeling confident- they're your besties, they know your body language. Whenever you feel confident they're always ready to praise you for it and when you need a confidence booster who else is better for the job that your friend(s)??? You can rely on them to remind you of how fantastic you look!

• They love going clothes shopping with you when you feel like it and of course they'd never try to take you somewhere that doesn't have your size! Your friends love you and are already ahead of you when it comes to doing the research and scoping the place out.

° They wouldn't ever want to put you in an embarrassing situation or make you feel like you're the issue when it's 100% NOT but instead is the store's!

° If you let them, your platonic f/o(s) are so honored you trust them to help you find clothes for yourself that make you feel comfortable, confident, and stylish!

For those with Familial F/Os

• Your sibling f/os may playfully make fun of your taste in music but they will never make fun of your weight. Never. end of story. And if anyone else did they'd be the first to try and fistfight that person on your behalf. Nobody makes fun of their sibling.

• Your parental f/o(s) love you for who you are and how you treat others, not how much you weigh. When they show pictures of you to their friends, they beam with obvious pride, just so pleased and honored to call you their kid because they love you and your worth to them is priceless

° If anyone ever says a single bad thing about you because of your weight in front of them, they WILL go on the defense mode and happily call that person out for being a bigot / shame them into next week no questions asked how dare that person talk ill about their kid???

• If you're happy with the weight you're at, then your parental f/os are happy, end of story. As your parents their only concern is that you're comfortable in your own skin; they love you unconditionally.

° If you're unhappy for whatever reason and are taking safe and professionally approved steps towards adjusting your weight, your parental f/os are only concerned about:

I read your post about queerness in Asia and of the bkdk dynamic, it settled at the back of my head and really just starting to marinate itself into something. Sometimes I wake up and couldn't feel anything about bkdk being real or canon at all even though facts are just right there in my face. I really do love bkdk, but I felt so true of your words on queer Asians that I couldn't see all those fan contents of bkdk someday being canon. Like, most of them didn't sit right with me and it's so hard to find one that represents queerness in Asia correctly (because bakugou and Deku are indeed Japanese=Asians).

I don't know why I reach out to you but I just wanna say, your post resonated with me a lot. I'm Asian and I found out I'm queer in my 16s. Here, being queer isn't like a world-breaking news or people will hate on you cuz you're different, but it's the community sense that makes queer people stay quiet and humble. Idk how to explain myself but it's true that even when we found out our gender/sexuality, most of us tend to prefer blending in with society rather than standing out and be proud of our identity (it's for various reasons like you mentioned, for family's namesake, for friends', even for strangers).

About bkdk, in my honest opinion, standing on Horikoshi's viewpoint and trying to understand his creating ideas with the consideration of a whole Asian community behind him, I cannot see bkdk kissing if they were to end up being endgame. They might chose to be a pair of queer platonic best buddies who are the most intimate and closest person to each other and no one else can take that place in each other's heart. Their dynamics might stay the same but they'll always have each other's backs. They might hold hands occasionally or be more touchy with each other than with others 'cuz that's ultimately where their dynamics and relationship lead up to in the whole story. They don't have to declare that they love each other or establish a new form of relationship and that's okay. Because for me, that's how being queer and being quiet and being Asian is. You get to be yourself proudly, but you don't have to yell it to the world to be recognized and feel validated. It's ok to be humble and still be proud.

Thanks kisa for wording out my feelings and thoughts in a much coherent way. I do think some Asians(not queer people) have a strange way at viewing lgbt+ because it's the western stereotypical concepts of the community that is more drilled into their minds. Even my parents sometimes forgot that I'm queer and thought that was a phase lol.

(sorry for ranting so much, that last part might be me dumping my whole hc at you I'm sorry!!! I feel really touched by your words and it has been sitting on my chest for a while and seeing bkdk still ten million miles away from being canonically endgame is so frustrating hsgdjaksh

i'm really honored my words reached you! as a queer asian, i completely agree with everything you said here. i'm also in the boat where i don't think bkdk will be officially canon, despite how many bkdks think they will. i think it's a very inherently naive thought that a japanese shounen series of mha's size and caliber will confine to western lgbt standards. it's just not that easy! and i've ranted in length about my pessimism ... and i will continue to stay that way until i'm definitively proven wrong LOL (i hope i am btw!!!)

there's definitely something inherently queer asian about bkdk's relationship, if they were to hypothetically be canon. i completely agree that, imo, they'll only be considerably queerplatonic if they're any type of queer at all. hoping for a more "proudly gay" bkdk is nice, but pretty unlikely all things considered. being "proudly gay", like completely coming out of the closet and disregarding what society/family has to say about you, isn't as simple in asian communities. being quietly and humbly queer is something i, and many queer asians, resonate with a lot! that's just as valid as being loudly and unabashedly queer!

if bkdk becomes officially, loudly, and excessively canon then that'd be incredible!!! i won't push it away in the slightest!!! it'd be a great push for shounen jump and a sign that more lgbt stories can exist, even if they're at mha's size!!! more acceptance of marginalized communities is always good!!!

but i also think that bkdks who refuse to accept bkdk not being canon because not being openly official = not good/queer enough, should perhaps open their minds more to what society mha is written in. smaller showcases of closeness, comfort and camaraderie can be just as queer as shouting it from the rooftops. that's good enough! and if that's what bkdk gets in the end, then i'll be satisfied, even if horikoshi doesn't confirm their relationship :>
