Man if you think about how Nandor treated Guillermo in the very beginning of the show (from the last season even) to how he treats him now is like night and day.

From these latest two episodes we have had: Nandor acknowledging Guillermo’s contribution with keeping the house clean, Nandor sticking up for Guillermo from other vampires, Nandor instantly rescuing Guillermo without hesitation, Nandor taking care of Guillermo by cleaning him up and giving him water, Nandor being kind to Guillermo even after he said he was still a little pissed that Guillermo abandoned him at the station, Nador wanting Guillermo to be his best man (even before he has even chosen a wife), Nandor sticking up for Guillermo from the other vampires again, Nandor quits his laughing when he sees that Guillermo’s not laughing along with the other vampires teasing, Nandor writing down notes after Guillermo told him without question and Nandor showing off his riches to Guillermo even after he said that it was only for his future wife to see (*cough*)

i wanna talk about the ‘treasure room’ because i think it does a really good job of summarising what’s happening between ed and stede at the moment.

stede ‘takes the initiative’ (or acts without discussing what he’s doing) and puts all of ed’s remaining treasure in one room that’s completely hidden. his reasons for putting it away are:

it was all over the place

he was tripping over it

some of it is quite ugly :/

and instantly ed hits him with the “excellent. a reminder of all my guilt. a guilt room. 😔🤘”

they’re not being subtle about it. this is a physical representation of their guilt and they’re demonstrating here exactly how they’re taking care of it.

ed is living with it. it’s in his space. sure it might be in the way but where else could he possibly put it? there’s so much of it and it’s his. there’s no use in just palming it off to someone else. no one wants this much treasure.

but stede can’t stand it and he has to deal with it now or he’ll die. so he just crams it into some hidden space and considers the matter resolved. it’s out of the way. it can’t hurt them if they don’t think about it. and it’s ugly! no one wants to look at something ugly, especially when they’re trying to rebuild their space.

but that’s just the thing. neither of them are actually dealing with or addressing the problem. stede has just. put it away.

WITHOUT ASKING ED WHAT HE THINKS THEY SHOULD DO WITH IT.

so they decide to just use it to throw this big party because surely that will fix it, right? that will get rid of the Treasure Issue.

WRONG!!

because they still didn’t talk about any of it. yeah they talked about “turning poison into positivity” and “giving some of it to the less fortunate” but they didn’t deal with the root of the problem. how did ed amass that much treasure in the first place? what’s the ideal way of getting rid of it? is there anything they want to keep?

they’re on such uneven planes this season because they can’t communicate to reach a common ground. ed is surrounded by his guilt and wants to leave it all behind. stede has just hidden the guilt and wants to pretend it isn’t even there.

I’ve posted some panels or pieces of these but never the entire sequence on here I don’t think, so but this is one of the only substantial things I’d say I’ve kept in a vault.

I feel like compared to my newer stuff these look super rough, but they were really good practice.

These have pesterlogs that go with them but this post is already huge so eh. This was set to occur a couple hours after Caliborn’s masterpiece, so Roxy and Dirk are talking about Halquius’s heroic sacrifice/death. Davepeta and Dirk continue that line of conversation, while Roxy is pulled into an argument about self control as I bum everyone out by reminding them that Jasprose never actual stopped being an alcoholic.

I doubt this is going to happen. I have no doubt S2 is gonna beat us relentlessly against a wall as far as emotional weight and the gravity of resolving all the misunderstandings

quick prediction but I think at some point Yoshiki’s parents’ marriage is gonna fall apart and his mom is gonna move back to Tokyo with Kaoru and Yoshiki will have to decide between leaving the village or staying with ‘Hikaru’.

because his mom being from Tokyo has to amount to something, and Yoshiki has been wanting to leave the village and go to the city for so long. It’d present him the option to literally run away from all his problems.

but he swore he’d stick by ‘Hikaru’ and he’s been learning so much about the village, unraveling centuries of history, that he’s kind of past the point of no return, so he decides to stay in the village except now ‘Hikaru’ is his only attachment. Nothing to hold him back, nothing to keep him from going too far.
