Reviews while I watch UniteUp!: Episode 12 Finale
Oh my word. I can’t believe this is coming to an end. This show was honestly so fun and probably my favourite idol anime that I’ve watched so far. Let’s get into this final episode.
They be nervous for the first live performance.
I like the calmness and the buildup of the opening. How all the groups have developed and now come together because if it.
That is a huge stadium.
Oooo. Is Anela performing?
Ahhhhhhh. Anela is performing!!! Yeee. Favourite group.
This final episode is just going to be a bunch of performances and I love it.
Those two are great.
And dealing with the backlash as well. Nice. And they’re carrying on the performance! Yay!
Daiki cries. Shame man.
And they jump out the stage. That was great.
Completely different style of music.
Man just yeeted the mic.
Once again. Different style of music.
Ooo. Blue hair has nice solo.
And onto Protostar. They get such a pretty opening.
News flash? Ohhh. That’s so sweet.
Protostar reminds me the most of the bands in idol anime. Their music that is.
Now Akira cries.
Different bands with different gloves. Noice attention to detail.
Annnnnnd the opening song is the final song. Common trope but I still love it.
Aw. A heart from the audience.
And the typical chaos that all of them bring in the aftermath. It’s perfect.
Gay.
And he is very drunk.
Oh god. He is scary as all hell.
Nice atmosphere. They kept in a slight echo for the open auditorium.
The three of them are so cute. I really want to see more of the different groups.
----final thoughts----
By god, that was a fun one. I never knew idol animes could be done so well. Everything felt so authentic - even the drama. All the characters felt real and motivated which can be such a challenge with such a diverse cast. I absolutely loved this anime and I really hope we get to see more of these dorks.
I can highly recommend this show and wish to give it an 8.8/10.

Currently reading Sansûkh because I am not able to move around much right now, and I was just thinking how like, all the interspecies ships HAVE to be collaborative works between Mahal and the other Valar, so basically they got together and made OC's specifically to fall in love and get married, and if that isn't fandom-coded behavior, idk what is.
Tldr: the Valar are a bunch of artist friends who get together and make dolls together so they can kiss and fall in love and get married 💕

Honestly, I’m a proshipper mostly in defence of the weird kid that I used to be.
When I was seven years old, I wanted to run away with the villain of my favourite YA books and I wrote little love letters to him all the time.
When I was ten, I started shipping the main character of another series and her mentor (who was four hundred years older and also a skeleton).
When I was twelve, I started shipping myself with the Joker and wrote a few little stories where he kidnapped me and we fell in love
I finally discovered fanfiction at the age of thirteen, and I was overjoyed to find a world of weird fiction and pairings and the ability to read the same plot over and over, instead of reading the same book over and over.
It’s hard to put into words how much discovering online fandoms felt like coming home. Finally being seen.
At fifteen, I had a challenge with my friend group to see who could find the freakiest fanfiction and read it out loud without laughing or flinching. I have incredibly fond memories of those days.
I have always been a weird kid, for more than just my taste in fiction. But I’ve always been thankful that fandoms were a safe space to be weird, to be freaky, to be unabashedly strange and obsessed with things that other people don’t understand.
I will stand here and defend any amount of strange and unusual fanfiction if it means that one other person can come into fandom spaces and feel the same relief I felt at thirteen: that I was finally not alone, finally not judged, and finally not the weirdest person in the room.

talked w/ a friend about this and wanted to post something similar yesterday after a convo i saw also
about people criticizing ttcc / ttcc fans for just... being cog fans? being cog centric? usually coming from people who only like the toons.
and everyone likes what they like! it's okay! but saying that people who like the cogs are horrible and support the bad things they do, is just blatantly wrong. i thought we knew that enjoying villainous and morally Bad / grey characters is... okay? it doesn't mean you support what they do. it's interesting to explore these topics.
i've seen many people just... paint anyone who likes the cogs as horrible because they're "apologists of x and y" and... i dunno. rubs me the wrong way! you do have a point and recognize the cogs do bad things, but liking them as characters means nothing about who you are as a person.
and this is not to say that people who are in toontown for the toons are bad. hell! they are right this IS toontown. i may be on the cog liker side but i like the toons! maybe ocs more than the npcs - mostly because i like my friends and the sheer creativity the toons can bring out!!
SO what i wanna say... i dunno. let's not point fingers...? let's have fun in a goofy cartoon game together??? also complaining about people liking VILLAIN ROBOTS on TUMBLR is kind of funny to me. do you realize where you are. but then again a lot of this i see on discord and in-game as well since i avoid things on tumblr... i am a sensitive little fella i avoid misty fight bc of One Really mean "Critic" guy i saw there and i have been shivering in my bootsies since. so you get me
but like yes ttcc is more cog centric but... that's okay? things could be written better and i still wanna speak on it, and i do thing the toons deserve attention and better writing... but the fact it focuses on the cogs isn't... bad? if you don't like how con centric it is you can go play ttr...? god forbid people have fun and explore the villain's side of things...? i'm not saying either toontown server is better or worse than the other... and everyone can like their own things!!
but like... people will just like the cogs and that's okay and it doesn't make you bad. let's all be friends okay? both sides may be going at each other's necks in-game and the cogs in fact do horrible things - but it's what makes them fun, and it gives the toons things to do in the game!! but we don't gotta !!!!!!!! i may be really sarcastic and sometimes mean in private but like that's me just privately sassing, deep down i think people should just... y'know..? enjoy things.
so yea that's the guzma / cathal thought of today. toon people cog people both people are all awesome as fuck and you keep doing what you're doing i love you toontown isn't toontown without you
