regarding character design in gacha games- if you haven’t played many, I will show examples from some popular ones here. This is for reference regarding confusion as to why incels often play these games. This isn’t to cover everything in these games either, there are games with much more absurd designs and I’m not even going to get into the “sexy little girl” designs a lot of them have. In the future I plan to research more and intend to make a concise post regarding the incel relationship with these games. These character designs and tropes exist across societies and are enforced through many types of media - it’s not just gacha games alone perpetuating them. I think they are however hypervisual in this specific genre mostly due to the huge amounts of money being spent by players in “purchasing” them. again this is just for reference, if you already are familiar with female character gacha design feel free to skip this. I’ll put it under a cut.
gacha games are infamous for typically having extremely sexualized female characters who will usually flatter the assumed male player. Again there are some that designers and writers will dress more chaste or have them give the player shit, but by “winning” these characters they are now “yours” anyway, they are not real women and therefore can’t walk away. I believe a big part of this appeal is due to incel men wanting to control a woman designed for an audience of people like him. The hypersexualization serves both to flatter his idea of a woman’s true place (his consumption) and to create a very rigid and obvious differentiation between men and women during a time when women are fighting tooth and nail for their dignity and equal rights.
Nostalgia and rigid character design dichotomy can be seen in the extremely popular gacha game Fate/Grand Order, I believe a good piece of its success can be attributed to this. There are thousands of Japanese gacha games that take already popular anime franchises and create a money pit gacha with them, it’s been happening for over a decade now. These games usually make bank taking already popular characters and giving them hypersexualized alts and costumes. FGO is an interesting phenomenon to me because it seems like for a lot of fans, the Fate franchise’s cultural touchstone is now this actual gacha game. The game adds popular existing Fate characters of course, so you can see how different the gacha character designs are from the VN/animes:
Tumblr media
When you can only watch them/read their stories, the characters are dressed like the above examples. When they are added to the game and you can buy and own them, they look like the bottom examples.
The (rare) depiction of darker skinned female characters in these gacha games is pretty uniform across the board- they are somehow, consistently, sexualized even more than the other female characters, they are often exoticized and sometimes have a “wild” or rebellious looking aspect incorporated. I would consider this something the intended audience expects to see, regardless of the truth, and the gacha game reflects this back to their customers, therefore enshrining this damaging stereotype to its audience. These examples don’t account for everything of course.
Tumblr media
As to not offend the delicate male viewer, these games also typically design furry/animal characters by having the female retain the most human-like features (like a small and delicate face) while the male is allowed to actually look like the animal. When a female character has armor that conceals her sex, there is of course a version of her you can “upgrade” where she takes off her armor to reveal a very delicate girl in revealing clothing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Typically, the consumer will see powerful, sturdy looking male designs that attempt to not alienate the straight male viewer first before adding “sexy” elements. In contrast, female characters are almost always very thin (often with exaggerated tits and ass) and her pose is chosen to show off her body first, before her power. This is an Arknights dual banner that displays this design philosophy well:
Tumblr media
some of the biggest incel shitfits come from male designs they see as being sexualized and objectified as the typical female design. these are 3 characters Korean incels have lost their minds over:
Tumblr media
In their world, the rigid sex dichotomy is breaking down and the hierarchal system of gender where men are on top is being threatened. they don’t feel powerful seeing lithe and skimpily dressed men, and they aren’t the hentai “femboy” fetish these guys seem ok with either. incels see these games as their playground. when designs like these are included, they see it as their job to rectify this. Lyney’s costume and demeanor is too “sexy” and “gay” for Korean incels, they mass dislike his character trailer and write hateful comments across SNS. Sinclair is shirtless and wearing a collar - Korean incels are furious he’s wearing less than the female summer character and see the collar as meaning he’s a “slave” for the female customer. This snowballs into them targeting a female artist on staff, Vellmori, and getting her fired even though it was a male artist who illustrated the cards. I’ve posted Korean incels comments on the Honkai Star Rail character- similar to Lyney, they are angry he looks “slutty” and/or “gay” since he has a boob window and detached sleeves. This is too similar to how the female characters are made “sexy” and it means women have prominent roles creating for these games, something incels of course hate. Regarding the role women should have in creating these games, a Korean incel wrote (after seeing photos that include many female staff members at Mihoyo) that they should just be there working at the cafe to serve coffee to male employees and look pretty for them.
In regards to how some of these games are marketed, we can again look to the article written by a Korean woman who was a victim of feminist ideological verification.

the other thing I find stupid about these types of “FGO fans” is when they will say things like, “oh this female character is designed with only fire to cover her tits and pussy because that’s just how it is in the Fate series!!! Porn game etc”
first, calling FSN a “porn game” is like calling a 3 hour movie with a 2 minute sex scene a pornography. Come on.
Second, the following are all also official Fate works, therefore making this “how it is” in the Fate series. So where is this energy in FGO then????
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have a feeling these fans would react very differently if the “fan service” in FGO leaned more into this than putting little girls in microbikinis and drawing waterballoon tits. These guys can barely handle Douman’s final ascension. Saber has like 20 alts where they give her fat tits and put her in a bunny suit but has never gotten her sick Zero black suit?? And in the Fate/Zero Girl’s Anthology they give you Kiritsugu’s bust measurement and put him in a maid dress. Male character design in FGO (especially the “summer” costumes) feels like they are so desperately trying to not offend the typical male gamer. When you see these guys say that they want “more male characters” in the game, they always say “as bros” or whatever. Ok? Where are the sluts? They gave AUO Castoff himself the most demure yachting outfit for his summer skin. The Summer Emiya outfit is a chaste Uniqlo look, but his Extra CCC costume has him wearing a leather jacket shirtless and dog collar. Douman gets a summer costume that covers his entire body. In the past we had wild male character outfits, but in FGO they play it so fucking safe.

A bit late and a bit long, but to add to the Edelgard being sexualized post, it bothers this anon that nobody in the fandom is willing to acknowledge the issue with the developers making the ONLY female lord in 3h the one that no matter the route is unequivocally in love with/obsessed with the main character. A lot of people criticize the increasing avatar-worship in recent FEs, but Edelgard is almost never included in that discussion despite her being the biggest and most blatant (1/3)
example of that type of writing in 3h. Hell, compare how Edelgards obsession with the avatar is portrayed in fandom as a cute, awkward schoolgirl crush while other characters like Tharja and Camilla has their avatar-obsession near always be portrayed as creepy, unsettling and unhealthy. The FE fandom just does not view her like the other fanservice characters, and hilariously your original post actually contains a mistake that is an excellent example of this: when artwork for year four (2/3) of CYL was revealed, people were outraged at notorious sexy artist Cuboon for DARING to sexualize Edelgard by giving her boob armor - except thats exactly what her Emperor class outfit looks like in 3h. It was pretty funny to watch people near combust over this "blatant sexualization" when it was always there and they just failed to notice. I guess nobody who played CF actually used her Emperor class. (3/3)
Well, as multiple comments on my latest video are pointing out, dark mage/bishop being male-only doesn't matter all that much because those classes suck. You could say the same thing about emperor. *rolls eyes*
But seriously, I can somewhat excuse that reaction because the boob armor is a lot more prominent on her brave alt than on the in-game model.
Tumblr media
That's just FEH being FEH.
Edeleth is a fraught topic no matter which angle you look at it. If you like or don't like how Byleth is a flat silent protagonist, how you feel about blatant Avatar pandering, which gender it's acceptable to ship Edelgard with, and of course the antis who call all Studentleth pairings grooming.
It must be tough shipping Edeleth sometimes and coming across discourse from so many different corners of the fandom...but considering how some of the ship's fans have acted (and continue to act) to me over the years, I find it very hard to be sympathetic. I believe I was being charitable in my Dimidue video when I called Edeleth - either M/F or F/F, of course - the most comparable pairing in terms of canon material.

Completely Coherent Mech Dream
Had a dream about a mecha video game that was also like, my real life I was living.
First I was a video game character and me and a bunch of other colorful people were in a spaceship. It was vintage style, lots of off white rounded paneling and very tight quarters. Our commander was an older woman who was manipulative and borderline cruel. I think she gave a little voiceover intro to our group about who she was and why we were there (to fight our enemies) and then I went into character creation.
Character creation involved plugging into my brain (where the mech suit connected) and had a little gritty anime thumbnail for my portrait based on gender and personality. But the personality traits were off and weird. It had defaulted to male, and when I switched it to female it said “a sacrifice” underneath it. I forgot what the default male said, it was something about being manipulated or being ignorant or stupid. There was also an alt male with a different, slightly less attractive anime guy portrait that said something else, but still rude and cruel (I think it was calling him a neckbeard). I did not want to be a sacrifice. I went with the default male. I was a generic handsome video game guy with dark brown/black hair.
Then our group just kind of hung out on the ship. But not really, because every time we slept plugged into our crèche the commander woman would shuffle around our gender and personality traits with the other squadmates? We sort of realized this was happening but couldn’t do anything about it. She never explicitly said she was the doing it but we all knew, as every day people were different, and if I check my character info in the videogame HUD it wasn't what I originally selected. She changed my gender and personality at least once (and I physically changed appearance because of this, it wasn’t just pronouns). Eventually I was back to my defaults, or at least I thought I was. I felt like many people weren’t though. I knew one guy was very loud and stereotypically southern, and I couldn’t remember if he had always been like that.
Eventually we came to the planet we would be fighting on. Our commander woman made a physical appearance and gave a speech. We were all kneeling on the ground while she did, heads bowed in compliance like she was some sort of religious figure. I realized how creepy it was but still felt compelled to do it anyway. By the end we were basically groveling in child's pose, bent over on the ground listening to her give her speech with our hands outstretched towards her.
Then we were waiting to go into battle in a large bay room. None of us had our mech suits (I can’t remember how I learned to use mine, I think it was implied I knew how before being recruited to this ship), only a gun and a solid-color jumpsuit. What we had to do was run, while under enemy fire, out the bay doors and head to the “wings” of the ship where our suits were held in flight and put them on. It was a given that many of us wouldn’t even make it to our suits. My suit was the second to last on the right, which meant I was almost the farthest out. I had already accepted that I was most likely to die.
Even before the doors opened we could hear the crack of laser fire against the door. When the door opened, there was a mad rush to get to our suits. I remember running past enemy soldiers in armor shooting guns at me. Everything seemed to slow, and I dodged a few headshots with my protagonist skills and shot back with a simple gun I had. I made direct eye contact with the two people who almost hit me, one of them was in a truck with other soldiers. Somehow, I managed to make it to my mech, but getting into it ("putting it on" in the dream) was difficult. It was a smaller suit, built more like a exosuit but still called a mech for some reason. My brain was partially exposed while I was getting syced up, and I remember being upset that it was taking so long and that I didn't like being vulnerable.
When I finally got completely into the suit I got straight to fighting. I was bigger, faster, and more powerful than the enemy grunts in their armor, but not as large as the commander of their force, who was out on the battlefield in a large, more properly sized mech suit. Our commander didn't fight. I remember that the fighting area was a wide expanse of concrete with some generic gritty scifi buildings. The enemies' armor was purple. I somehow got close enough to the enemy commander to hear him. It almost sounded like he was talking to our commander, and that they were laughing together. I got so angry I attacked him without thinking of how much stronger he was than me. I raked him with my claws, and slashed though the left side of his face so badly it was going to scar. I knew he may loose the eye too. but it wasn't enough, so I tried to beat him with my fists and clawed at his face. At one point I put my fingers in his mouth and grabbed him by the jaw to try and rip it off, but his face was reinforced by the mech suit and I couldn't. It felt very visceral.
I couldn't beat him despite my efforts, but we won anyway and he left the battlefield. I was still kind of crazed from my fight, and when I saw a group of enemy soliders being transported to our ship in a big clear plastic holding box I tried to shoot them. But my commander stopped me, saying something like "they'll be reeducated, they're useful." I thought back to her laughing with the enemy commander, and began to understand that there were no stakes in this battle. I didn't know why we were fighting. I realized that I was being manipulated by me commander, and that she and the enemy clearly had something going on where they were just fighting to fight, trading soldiers like their lives meant nothing. As the rest of my group helped move prisoners onto the ship, I just… didn't. I left instead.
No one came after me, and eventually everything on the battlefield was quiet. I realized that I could hear the ocean. We had been by the beach the entire time, and everyone had been so busy fighting that no one had noticed. I left the concrete scifi area and walked down to the shore. The beach was dark rock, with huge island boulders in the dark water. Some of the boulders were so large that dark-needled conifer trees were growing out of them, and wooden scaffolding had been built to connect them in a walkway. I went to the water and stared out into it. The waves were almost a dark teal, and I knew it was cold though I couldn't feel it. At the very end of the boulder islands was a tall island with a tall wooden gazebo on it. I though about how much I wanted to be out there.
Sometime later, minutes or hours, I'm not sure, I heard someone calling me. Two other mecha pilots had also defected, and were waving me down. We spoke on the radio, and one said that she had called and found a rescue ship unaffiliated with the battle to come pick us up, but they didn't know exactly where we were on the beach, so we had to flag them down. I realized that this was the perfect excuse to go the the gazebo boulder. While she and the other pilot climbed the largest boulder partially on the shore, I followed, but instead of staying on the big boulder I began to jump across the islands to the other one. The gazebo island was only connected by by a single long plank to the island before it. I knew that the plank wouldn't support my weight if I walked across it. Instead, I figured I could use my jet boosters to keep myself going forward, and only touch down gently with one foot to keep myself on track, in a sort of controlled, very light taps in a glide to get over them, with one big one at the end to jump on top of the gazebo. I succeeded, and stood out watching the ocean just in time to see the rescue ship come by. I waved it down, and it landed close to the other two pilots on the shore. I needed to head over as well, but for a moment I though maybe I could do the same glide across the water, as though I were flying across it like a skipping stone, but knew I couldn't without risking drowning. I wanted to very badly.
But instead I headed back normally the way I came, and the dream basically ended there.
All I remember about what my mech suit looked like is that it about doubled my height, my face was exposed, and that it was a like…. very serious gray color. There were four jets that I could use as jump boosters and to glide limited distances. It was less beefy and more like… a sleek, kind of athletic style design, with fins. I had claws too I guess.

Oh, hi!
I'm Snowliss! Nice to meet you! This is my first post, so why not introduce myself by giving some random facts about me?
At a very young age I started drawing.
My first ever handheld console was actually the Game Boy Advanced Micro! I can't remember what was my first game... 😞
First Mario game was Mario Kart on the Nintendo DS - LOOOOVED the Mission Mode, disappointed that it was never brought back... 😭
Pokémon Pearl was the very first Pokémon game I have ever played (though we don't talk about that time because I did the unforgivable... 😣)
Then, my knowledge of Nintendo characters, games, etc. was expanded through playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl! I mained the angel from Kid Icarus Pit (to the point where I did developed anime/video game husbando crush so I created an OC named "Blair", just for me to put her and him together😳)
Because of my imaginations and such, I began to write some stories (though I never published them because I didn't have a phone or laptop back then)
And then a good few years later I was given a Nintendo 3DS during one of my summer holidays, with Fire Emblem Fates being my very first game ever.
A follow-up on the last point; I played as Male Corrin, regretted everything because I hated Takumi at the very beginning, but after I saw the supports I regretted everything, so jump ship to playing as Female Corrin (and also created a new OC) and married Takumi. Who knew that he was such a sweetheart? 😍
My main OC's name went from "Eyra" to "Blair", then to "Asha" to "Kagura" and then now to "Kaori". Quite a huge jump of names just for one original character, don't you think? 🤔
I also have Fire Emblem Heroes - huge Takumi fan, and really wanting a Brave and Legendary Takumi alt! 🤩
Speaking of Fire Emblem spinoffs, I also have Fire Emblem Warriors, and of course I main Takumi as always, no surprise. 😏
I also am the writer of Fire Emblem: Fated Elements, which is an afterstory of Fire Emblem Fates with my OCs being involved. This was rewritten too many times during the making of it, to the point where I had to completely abandon the book/idea, until around a month ago, due to personal reasons.
So yeah, that's all about me so far, I'm open to ask any questions but anything personal I will have to decline. I'll also throw in some of snippets/chapters of Fire Emblem: Fated Elements into this, and would probably make some silly polls based on Fire Emblem, and maybe complain about life lol so... I hope I'll be able to get to know you more as you know me!

okay, so, the more I think about it, the less surprised I am about this year's CYL results?
so, like everyone else, I was expecting an engage sweep. yunaka and ivy/alear for the girls, and diamant and alear/alcryst for the boys. as everyone knows by now, that REALLY didn't happen. in fact, the only real contender was yunaka.
why was that the case? well, I have a few theories, which I'm read-more zoning because this post has gotten LONG
partially, I think this is caused by the year gap between engage's release and CYL 8. speaking as someone who's been hardcore into FE since awakening and has gone back to play all of the older games I could, I played engage, had mixed feelings, and then forgot about it.
... aaaaaand so did everyone else. yes, engage does have a fanbase, but compared to three houses and even fates/awakening... it's tiny!
I think there's a few reasons for this. firstly, there's the lack of shipping mechanics, which means it's less appealing to romance fans (which is a huge amount of people active in fanbases, and therefore voting for things like CYL).
secondly, the game is deliberately designed around dropping older units in favour of using your newest recruits, which means people are unlocking less supports, and are therefore less invested in the characters.
engage also lacks replay value due to said absence of romance mechanics and the difficulty of reclassing characters, which is another thing preventing people from actually unlocking the supports, and therefore caring about the cast.
truthfully, most of the people seriously invested in engage probably aren't active in a fandom sense, since they're playing it exclusively for the gameplay (and therefore aren't going to vote for it in things like CYL).
still, I don't think that's the only reason engage didn't win. for one, there's definitely botting - bernie winning isn't surprising, but by that much?? yeah, no.
I think that the engage vote being split - especially amongst the men's division - really didn't help. all of the three houses fans rallied behind felix and bernie, who have been consistently third place for years. meanwhile, you've got several serious candidates for both male and female engage characters, splitting the vote multiple ways - if all of the ivy voters had voted for yunaka instead, she would have easily scored second place.
alphonse and robin are a bit more surprising to me, but robin is the only major awakening character without a brave unit yet, and FEH characters historically do well. I also think the fans wanted to give intsys a message that OG alphonse/shareena/anna reeeeeally need an update.
for me, I believe the final factor in the engage loss of CLY8 is that... everyone thought they were a shoe in! everyone thought at bare minimum, yunaka and diamant were shoe ins, so why not vote for your fav minor character you'd like an alt for instead?
I think all of these factors combined is why engage did so poorly. now, do I think that this means we're never going to get any engage brave units? nah. with felix/bernie out of the pool, the three houses votes are going to be fractured between hilda, byleth, yuri, and the shezzes. truthfully, unless the rumoured genealogy remake drops between now and the next CYL, I'm very much expecting brave diamant and yunaka next year!
so, it's not all doom-and-gloom for engage fans, even if things didn't go their way this year

Iunno, it’s still static sprites that go on a pre-rigged skeleton. It isn’t that much more work. Source: I’ve literally worked on mobile game that uses similar techniques. That said the characters I worked on aren’t nearly as dynamic as they’re only seen from the waist up, but looking at limbo’s animations they need just a couple alternate arms and hands for the most part. Plus there are three variants it feels like they intended a full separate summer servant and then went with costume instead.
i debated answering this bc if i have to see more posts about this subject ill scream but im tired and petty atm and honestly feel like we're not even asking them to make MORE servants just like
instead of making it so its 7 female summer alts and 3 male costumes just make 6 female alts and one summer male alt as a test drive or something. like its frustrating to see people making posts about how the devs couldnt make more costumes for the men bc of crunch time the extra female costumes are more simple etc etc etc like that isnt really the point? the point is that constantly giving ppl 7 of one kind and 3 lesser versions of the other is unfair and people ARE allowed to wish theyd put a little less effort into one side and more into the other, even if the posts DO get annoying. like the valkyrie welfare has six alts- and yes, yes theyre all very similar with basically only the hairstyle changed but have we EVER had a male welfare with a similar amount of attention given to them? are we now not allowed to be annoyed that they couldnt...idk give tai sui his grown up form as a costume as well (which DOES have a sprite, it shows up in his np, even if theyd have to animate some more movement) without someone coming in chiding us for not being appropriately considerate of how hard the devs work?
i KNOW game development is hard and there's a lot of work that goes into it especially with how detailed and intricate fgo sprites are, but theyve persistently been given feedback that people want this and have done nothing to acknowledge it except doing in-game actions which, to the people who are asking for it, can read a lot like taunting or mockery. yeah, it's nice that they included the extra art hasendow did, but doing it for a wildly popular guy after a tidal wave of people begging for more male alts last year reads a LOT differently than the outfit for shuten douji, who has a welfare alt as well as her 'other self' in the event in a swimsuit. do you understand what im saying? ibuki and douman were released at the same time, and one was VASTLY more popular and profitable, but only one got a multi-ascension alt with a bonus costume and i think it isnt actually unreasonable for his fans to feel put out by that.
like, idk, i just think people are more upset than usual this year bc after all the fallout last year with how bad it was it had felt like fgo was actually getting more equal with how it treated it's cast-and with the announcement that there was going to be three ssrs, i legitimately thought that they WERE going to do a male summer alt, but were worried about the reception so weren't messing with the number of female summer ssrs-and i think other people thought that as well! but instead they continued with the same pattern they've always done, EXCEPT that they made 3 of the summer female alts ssrs instead of 2- which shows they're willing to buck tradition but not in the way people are asking for. the male summer alt thing isnt a new problem, they've had ample time to know that people have really really wanted it, they just dont want to do it, and its really annoying that when you complain about it you get a rush of people coming to defend the devs in various ways-they can't do summer alts of the men NOW bc what about the previous men who already got costumes, they cant do summer alts of the men NOW bc they just changed companies, they can't do summer alts of the men NOW bc they never did before, etc etc etc its just annoying like ok. i get it. you dont want to hear people complain! but if working on all these alts is so hard they can also cut down on the number of female alts...
like does this make sense? i know this is incoherent and probably whiny im just tired of whenever people are like 'hey can we actually change this annoying aspect of the game' people rush in to explain why it's impossible for it to change. they also said that about pity and quick casters and a whole bunch of other stuff that they then changed more recently, people were allowed to get their hopes up even if it was 'premature of them'

Given the spread of how sync pairs were distributed here, I would like to talk about what I refer to as the Test of Popularity.
It’s around anniversary time. Before or after, doesn’t really matter. Conventional wisdom has guided players to save, and save they have, only to unload at anniversary. Pre-anniversary, they are bait, tempting you to break the saving and spend before the finisher. Post-anniversary, everyone is spent, this is the perfect time for some big names that people will spend money on.
When a character is presented, without a situation like the current Villain Arc, around this time? That is the Test of Popularity.
DeNA releases characters and alts they expect to make bank by breaking savings, or following up on anniversary so strongly that people have to spend their gems to make it work. This happens for midpoint anniversaries too. Prior to Leon at 1.5, the other characters were Diantha, and Champion Iris. Given the rest of that year? Diantha must have sold above expectations; she got an alt like 8 months later. Iris must have done worse; she didn't get anything until Halloween 2022.
I bring this up for two reasons. The first is Victor. Victor dropped right after the third anniversary, as this exact kind of bait. Given that everything from July 2022 to October 2022 was constant bitching about Victor not being in the game because "DeNA hates male character" (laughable no matter how far up your own ass you are), Victor's inclusion here was to be expected. There was massive outcry in support of him being added. He was an obvious pick. It has taken until now for Victor to get another focus, and...
He's a free event. Not even the Lodge pair despite not being added. That's Calem.
Victor failed. Victor failed so hard they don't even trust him to turn a profit if they give him a costumed alt. The Redditbros are celebrating a free alt as "what he deserves," and technically, they're right. No one should be surprised at this outcome. The outcry over Victor was never about really caring if he got in, and desperately wanting more male rep. It was about being mad women got too much. His popularity wasn't real, and when put to the test, they got that revealed very quickly.
But now we're gearing up for another test with Nemona. This is her introduction, and the introduction of Paldea. It's pre-anniversary. And they are setting her up similarly to Victor: over-saturated type, decisively okay but unimpressive kit. Nemona's even hit with a new sync type, which...while you could argue is a selling point because it's novel, fan response has been entirely "this is just worse Tech." Nemona is coming in with a ton of disadvantages. And we're about to find out if her popularity holds up.
Given the distinction in comments, I expect she will. Right now, Reddit is flooded with people very excited about Nemona and frustrated about spending before anniversary. Compared to Victor, who was largely received with "That's not fair, we don't have enough gems left, he's going to bomb because DeNA didn't want to give him a fair chance, WAAAAAAH."
Anyway, this post is one part finding it interesting who they pick for these pre- and post-anniversary baits, one part sharing the hype around Nemona, and one part shitting on the people who were so belligerent about female characters getting alts because Victor wasn't in. Fuck you people in particular.

okay idk here are my MoM takes, such as they are. I honestly found most of the film to be forgettable to the point that I don't recall a lot of what happened, but then I don't think a lot actually happened, at least plotwise. Michael W*ldron and his yt male mediocrity strike again
yes, visually it's a very stunning movie. if that's literally all you're looking for in a film then I guess this is for you. although that said, there are some weird transitions between scenes I still don't understand creatively but whatever, nitpicking.
people keep likening this to a horror because of the dark visuals and occasional jumpscares, but I'd say that's about where the parallel to the horror genre starts and stops. also, the whole 'horror' thing relies on Wanda being the slasher monster which...is cool in a way? But also a pretty misogynistic take on how a female character processes her grief, but I'd expect nothing less from Michael. anyway, it's not really horror, just a film with creepy visuals.
the pacing is awful. the writing as a whole is awful. Scenes drag on longer than they should, there's little to no build up of any character though after a certain point it's clear we're supposed to care about certain characters and their dynamics together but it's like wait when did you give me a reason? there's very little explanation for anything, things just sort of -happen- and rely on the viewer caring more about how they look then why they're happening in the first place. oddly, the writing relies a great deal on the audience having seen Wandavision beforehand despite taking very little of the show into account for anything else.
Michael's very male-centric POV, early 00's style of writing is ofc the defining tone of the script. While this is kind of a dual Wanda and Dr. Strange piece (SORT OF) all of the narrative sympathy and build up is devoted solely to Stephen. We're supposed to feel SO BAD for him as he corners his ex-gf at her wedding to talk about their past relationship even as she is visibly uncomfortable and says as much, and then later he's still pushing his feelings towards an alt-universe version of her but at least then she's just like 'ok thanks lol'. When the Illuminati tell him every Dr. Strange is evil including him the narrative frames it as an obvious lie because clearly Stephen is much more nuanced than that; Wanda though, 100% evil, no justification for anything SHe does EVER. It's the double-standard in who gets to be a sympathetic character and who doesn't for me. Very game of thrones lol. Also the fact that Wanda is given no more narrative motivation to go full evil than 'I AM A MOTHER I HAVE CHILDREN' which, yes, I understand is a big part of her character in any context but you cant tell me wandavision didn't manage to make her character and motivations more nuanced where this film didn't even try. The writing literally relies on 'sad woman = evil' and nothing else. I mean, it's pretty clear to me there was an avenue here to have Stephen and Wanda commiserate and find some comfort from each other in their shared issues maybe, but then we wouldn't have woman = bad and thus a scary monster villain
Lightspeed kill your gays happens in a scene that could be easily edited out for homophobic markets, but who is surprised?
The people who seem to watch marvel solely to make fun of fans are delighted that all the new characters who got introduced were quickly killed off bc 'lol stupid blorbo cameo' but like, that doesn't make it a good narrative choice or worth anyone's time at the end of the day. Think of how that time could've been spent giving this film an ounce of narrative depth instead
As far as I'm concerned the only good parts were Professor X's. Only he shows Wanda any kind of compassion, and the scene where he enters her mind and sees the desolation of her grief- IT IS THE ONLY TIME WANDA IS ALLOWED DEPTH OUTSIDE OF EVIL CRAZY LADY. When he tries to help her from the rubble...when he tells Stephen he believes people are more than just their past misdeeds. Idk. Wish there could have been more of that.
My main thing is, I really wish Marvel would hire writers that can put together a self-contained screenplay for these films. It's not impossible; it certainly wasn't impossible here. I'm of the opinion that these films would be stronger if they could stand on their own, if the hour and a half, two hour plot could be a self-contained, tight story that still encompasses the plot points they need to hit going forward. Something that randos not familiar with the marvel universe would still enjoy. It's not difficult, it really isn't. Because yeah, sure, as part of the big multiverse hyping everyone's into this film, and I could be wrong, but I just don't see this movie having the staying power over time that it could have. I don't see anyone, five years from now, being like "omg MoM is one of my fave films ever!!" because outside of the main overarching plot and visuals, it's pretty aimless and pointless. It's pretty aimless regardless of the main plot, tbh.
I ofc realize too that the amount of hype given to this film might be part of what makes the finished product such a disappointment, but I'm certain I would've found it boring and poorly written regardless of how much it was hyped up. It's definitely a let down after Wandavision, why on EARTH didn't they at least use some of THOSE writers??
Anyway, once again moving back into my lifelong 'Marvel probably isn't for me' position because, as per usual, the narrative focus and sympathy has to be devoted to whoever the main yt cishet male character is while everyone else is reduced to villain, sidekick or disposable POC/queer person. Makes the scope of superhero media very limiting.

Alright, I’ve officially decided I’m never going to touch anything PokeMas-fandom related ever again. At least not Reddit related. I’m just going to get my datamine and then leave.
The Pokemon fanbase has always been a cesspool, but considering how character-focused PokeMas is I honestly shouldn’t be surprised how batshit insane things get down there.
I don’t understand how people get so goddamn heated over which character does or doesn’t get an alt. Sure, it’s a bit ridiculous that Brendan has 0 alts while May is likely getting her 4th soon. But Nate is my second favorite protagonist who hasn’t gotten a single alt since his arrival, and I just...hold out hope that he gets one. I don’t get why everyone needs to shit on every single goddamn alt that comes out that isn’t the character they wanted. And the campaigns for ‘Justice for Brendan’ ‘Justice for Korrina’ (which is still going on despite the fact she already got an alt) ‘Justice for Victor’ ‘Justice for Let’s Go’ is just getting so tiring and cluttering up the entire subreddit. It was cute when the first Justice for Kris campaign started, since it was new and the campaign was largely about hyping up Kris rather than shitting on new pairs. But now it’s just so goddamn formulaic and tedious.
And the sheer amount of hypocrisy that’s present within the fanbase is off the charts, mainly when it has to do with the female characters. People will start complaining that DeNa doesn’t give male protagonists enough attention, yet once the discourse dies down that argument will immediately subside again and people will once again start talking about how much they’re crushing on the female protagonists and their alts (most of which are explicitly children and I’m never going to stop being pissed about how normalized this shit is within this fanbase). Like, gee, I wonder why the female protagonists are getting alts so much? And who does care about the male alts we do have right now? Furbert’s a non-entity right now, Red’s only talked about in relation to his Classic version, and the hype around SS Ethan started to die down. Hell, who cares about the male characters in general outside of the aforementioned ‘Justice for X’ campaigns? Who’s going to pull for these male protagonist alts if they finally come out?
DeNa is a corporation. DeNa is a corporation that wants money. They make their alts based on what sells (especially taking Japan into consideration). Cynthia sells, so they give her 3 alts. Lillie sells, so they give her 4 alts. N sells, so they give him 3 alts. Leon sells (at least in Japan), so they give him 3 alts. They do care about their fanbase a lot more than most companies do, but they’re still making this game to make money. And I’m not going to shame anyone who spends money on this game (God knows anyone who follows my main blog saw the biggest dumbfuck decision I made recently), but the point still stands. The characters who make money or will make money are going to get the most attention.
This sounded a lot more pretentious than I intended it to be, I just needed to barf this out. I’m just so goddamn tired of this discourse surrounding a Pokemon gacha game of all things that most people only use as a timekiller.

I know we already knew since feh channel but official trailer happened today so I can complain :p
I know how I should already be used by but I still get annoyed how feh shafts their male characters... It's almost every seasonal banner: 3 female + 1 male prfless demote! Maybe I'm more salty cause Cath is not even popular and was released this year while Leyla is an unplayable character that straight up dies in her game but both got a premium alt treatment while Sothe got the shaft (also, Matthew deserved an alt more than leila)... The fact that being a prfless seasonal means you probably never gonna get a refine is a big bummer...
Anyways, at least we are getting better inheritable swords after so many time with IntSys giving only inheritable axes for f2p. And Canto is a really good effect! Also, we are getting distant counter as a sacred seal! Even tho this one is only for dragons, that's still really interesting! So at least we are getting some good stuff for f2p.
Other than that, not much else to say. These new Canto skills looks annoying to deal with (mostly Nina's) and def/res smoke giving pathfinder gonna be a pain in the ass. Despite I complaining, the units look cool and interesting to play, but It's good to remember that CYL is on the way, so it's better to wait at least their announcement trailer before wasting too much orbs.

i don't think i'm going to bother doing the xiv benchmark thing. i know for some it's curiosity or needing to test their equipment, but for too many it's just a penis measuring contest and/or to show off. for me, my numbers/rating would be better than some and worse than others, oh well. /shrug
also, we already upgraded what needed to be upgraded according to the recommendations, it's not like i could do anything more. my processor and video card aren't cutting edge top of the line, but they're solid and reasonable for our budget.
and like i don't need to rush on seeing how my wol will look with the new graphics, like we're getting a free fantasia either way, and i've already been through it with wow, where if you're dissatisfied with your look and can't fix it, then it ruins the character for you if you can't get used to it. so i'd rather find out at dt launch than right now lol, give me the extra months being fine with how i created my wol (though i bet it'll be okay, they're not going to shit peoples' looks like blizz did when they literally gave everyone same face syndrome in wow and took away female characters' ability to not smile).
and i'm not in a rush to see the new female hrothgar, though i know i'll appreciate seeing them in game, the designs i've been seeing already are cooler than i expected. but eh, not gonna alt one so no big. i was so eager to see the male viera bc i wanted to alt one, before it really sunk in how alt unfriendly the game is ^^;

My last Soleil vote has been lodged. Let’s hope she did well enough for IS to stop ignoring her and give her an Alt, or at least a Resplendent. That hasn’t worked for Ayra though...
Soleil’s far from the only character being screwed over by IS in regards to CYL voting versus in-game representation, which I’ve been thinking about for a while. Examples below (long read):
- The aforementioned Ayra not getting anything is especially bizarre - she's not only been in every top 100 of CYL, she's also always been the highest scoring female AND the highest scoring non-Lord from Jugdral yet doesn't have an alt. At a stretch, it could be because of "Ayragate" but that wasn't to do with the character herself, rather that she happened to be a powerful character who was unannounced and color-shared with a mediocre unit who wasn't new. - Ranulf not getting an alt is also really weird, as aside from popularity FEH is starved of potential Beast unit candidates to the point where most new OCs are Beast units. He also gets mentioned a lot by NY!Lyre and NY!Kyza but still hasn't been on a New Year's banner - usually, when a character gets mentioned by other seasonal characters they end up getting their own seasonal version the next year. Oh, and he's got the second-most lifetime votes of any character who's been eligible for all 6 CYL events but doesn't have an alt. - Felix. Especially Felix. He still only has 1 version despite finishing as the #3 Male in CYL last year, and as a seasonal grail unit. Meanwhile, there's 4 Hildas going around even though Felix has outscored her in every CYL event they've been eligible in. - There's also only being 2 Bernadettas despite her outscoring Hilda in every CYL event they've been eligible in. I suppose I could compare a lot of 3H characters to Hilda though... - The Black Knight only having 2 versions until last Christmas. Notable because Zelgius was released shortly after Black Knight and is basically exactly the same character but not wearing a helmet and with a marginally different stat distribution. - Nephenee only having 2 versions despite consistently being one of the highest scoring non-Lord units in the series, and has popularity on par with Mia (4 versions) and more than Ilyana (3 versions) - Only one Jill, no Lucia in the game at all... I think Tellius characters are getting screwed over for whatever reason - especially weird since, as a whole, they've gotten more seasonal alts than most other games, so I'm not sure how this is possible. Large cast problems I guess. - Anankos not being in the game at all despite being in every top 200 CYL event - notable since most final villains don't score anywhere near that high. It seems like he's too important to be a GHB unit but they don't want to make him a Mythic unit for whatever reason. - There's also Finn, who consistenlty gets high votes - which is difficult for a non-Lord from (primarily) Thracia - but only has 1 version. - The power of memes got Bartre an alt, but it hasn't gotten the more popular Wrys a vote - nor has it gotten Gatekeeper a version that wasn't voted in. - And one final one since I could go on and on and I need to stop at some point: The fact that we still only have 3 Annas - despite the fact that her combined popularity gives her the 6th most CYL lifetime votes of any character. The playable version of Awakening Anna isn't in despite having by far the most votes of any character not in the game yet. The second most is Fates Anna, who doesn't even have an Apotheosis Anna equivalent in the game. It's hard to put into words how screwed over she's been in FEH, and that's BEFORE I get to how poor her versions in FEH perform as units.

These hacks can help you in so many ways, like speeding up the process, changing your gender, or giving birth when and where you want it, for example. So sit back with a soda or juice and read on folks because we have some basic info first. The Sims 4 has been a big hit with gamers and the general public since its launch in It is considered to be one of the best single-player games ever released, even earning acclaim from players across all platforms Microsoft Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One. The gameplay can be both entertaining and challenging; you'll need to control your family's lives while also building their home over time! Despite being out for four years now, though, there are still plenty more features that developers have yet to release, which means this game will never get boring! Now, for making new sims, you have to make female sims pregnant, and for that, there are some requirements as well. This is what we'll be going over in the next section so stay tuned! Also Check: Sims 4 Toddler Cheats Like in real life, a person should be engaged with someone of the opposite gender when trying for a baby. In Sims 4, this is also true- only adults and elders can try to "try for baby" teens or children cannot participate. The exception here is young adult females who have the opportunity to interact with male teens or elderly males. The Sims 4 is allowing us to create some really interesting characters. For example, you can make a gender non-conforming character and have it be unique because the game offers you options that are mixable and matchable in creating your sims! These options are available in the " Custom Gender Settings " which comes under the gender selection tab. Open the settings and go to the gender tab in creating a sim, and select the pregnancy category. In the pregnancy category, you can customize your character Sims abilities, whether your sim can get pregnant, make others pregnant, or not. Pregnancy takes time, and if you use Sims 4 pregnancy cheats, then the time can be reduced. Note: By default, male sims are able to impregnate others and female sims can become pregnant, Now, if you want to change any setting, you can do it easily. Elder males are able to impregnate others but female elders can't become pregnant, even if they possess as well. We hope you understand the requirements for being pregnant in sims 4 and are qualified as well. If that's true, then at this time "try for baby" will be available. Just remember though! That condition has only been announced if any of one partner has the ability to become pregnant and another person can get enough luck getting anyone else pregnant too. Note: We are not sure how many people are in your family, but if you have 8 or more members, then it's really hard to get a new sim even after practicing and trying for a baby. We mean, this is because Sims 4 only allows up to eight members of one household - so once someone moves out, you can try again! As you know, having a new sim can take three days. But now we are going to show you how to speed up the process with this Sims 4 pregnancy cheat. You don't have to wait for three days anymore - just follow these steps and get your baby on the way in no time at all! For speeding up pregnancy, first of all, you have to enable your cheats by pressing the short key given below according to your device. After that, you will get a message that " Cheats are activated ". Now, paste the code given below into the blank box and hit the enter button. Do you want to get your sim pregnant for a specific gender baby? Then there are two methods by which you can change your baby's gender. Follow the steps given below for pursuing this method:. Now, we'll teach you a trick that might just work for your situation. Most of our users have found it to be very effective, so we recommend giving this method a try before anything else and then let us know how well it worked out. Follow the steps given below according to your requirement. If you're looking to give your pregnant sim twins, these tips are for you. There's nothing better than two newborns at once! These methods work well and will get the job done even in hard mode. Both methods are good, but the 2nd method's success rate is less than the 1st method. The best way to get two babies in the Sims 4 is by cheating Using sims 4 pregnancy cheats twins. If you're not into the idea of cheating, then there's another way that might work to your advantage. It may have a lower success rate than some other methods but don't feel discouraged as it does sometimes happen with our users too. This is a practical method, you can get a fertility massage if you know a Sim with the wellness skill and have the spa day pack installed. The time has come for your sims to give birth. If you think they are in labour moodlet , be ready as after that only 3 hours left before the baby is born! There are two options available when giving birth-laboring out of the house or going into the hospital. Sims 4 allows you to give birth at home. Many users preferred this method as it is a less time-consuming method. Approximately, your baby will take three hours to appear after the pregnant sim is in labour moodlet. But, if you can't wait for three hours then, you can skip it and speed up the process by clicking on the " Have a baby " option. Also, if you want to give your child a warm and good welcome, then decorate your nursery and show your creativity. But, it is not mandatory. When your baby gets arrived, a pop window appears in which you have to give your baby a name. Note: You don't have to buy anything for your baby at the time of birth, as your baby is tied with a bassinet until it goes to the toddler age group. Do you have installed Get to Work expansion pack in sims 4? If yes, then we will prefer you to go to the hospital for the delivery of your baby. When you get to know that now you are in labour moodlet, select the self-interaction, " have a baby at hospital " option, and then choose any other sim with whom you can go to the hospital. When you enter the hospital, go to the front desk and choose the "check-in" option and after choosing it, your sims go to the room in which the doctor asks you to sit on the surgery table and start the procedure. The best thing is that if you give birth in a hospital, then they will grant the unique birth certificate item. It's found in your personal inventory and can be placed on any wall as an accent to spice up a room! Some Sims 4 users want to have a baby without pregnancy but don't know how or just don't want the hassle. If you're one of those people, then this section is going to be especially helpful for you! We'll show ya how it's done and give some tips on adoption in sims 4. The adoption process in Sims 4 is not hard, but if you're new to the game we want you to know that for adopting your Sim needs to be at least a young adult or older. Go to the household and select the " Hire a Service " option and after that, you will see an option texted as " Adopt a Child ". Once your adoption goes through, and the little one appears in their crib on a lot with all of the necessary items - complete with bassinet for rest time - you can finally give them a name! The Sims games have always had a long history of pregnancy cheats. From the first game to this newest installment, it is common for players to use cheat codes or mods in order to ensure that their Sim will conceive and give birth without having any physical contact with another person. Some people enjoy doing this because they are not comfortable with how the animations work in the game. Sims 4 pregnancy cheats help players to get pregnant without having any contact with another person. It is performed by adjusting the value of a Sim's aspiration bar in order to have them become infatuated enough that they will agree when asked if they want to have children. While this may not be considered cheating, there are many players who use it due to discomfort or other reasons. The answer is a resounding yes! However, it's important to know that the cheat codes vary between consoles. For example, for Xbox One players, you'll need to enable cheats by pressing the Y button and then typing "testingcheats true" into the search bar. PlayStation 4 users will need to enter in "testingcheats true" using your controller. Using Sims 4 pregnancy cheats has a few benefits. First, it allows players to get pregnant without having any contact with another person. This is great for those who are uncomfortable with the animations or for players who want to avoid any awkwardness. Additionally, it can be used to have twins or triplets without the hassle of trying to get two people in the game to cooperate. No, using Sims 4 pregnancy cheats is not considered cheating. So long as you're not using them to get an unfair advantage over other players, there's no reason why you can't use them.
