just saw talk of boxer au!gojo on twitter and i fear now i'm thinking about satoru—undefeated in his weight class, a sensation in the sport—gearing up for a fight against a fighter from the underground scene, ryomen sukuna, who's known to have seedy connections and to not fight fair. his opponents often end up hospitalized, or mysteriously retiring after his matches—and there are rumours that some meet even more sinister fates.
and you show up at gojo's training gym one night, long after the rest of his team has gone home and find him in the practice ring just laying on his back, his mitts tucked under his head like a pillow, asleep and totally at peace. you hesitate, not sure if you should disturb him, but eventually climb up onto the elevated platform of the ring. you slip through the ropes like you have a hundred—maybe a thousand—times before, and approach him quietly as not to wake him.
he strikes when you're within arm's reach, moving faster than you could ever hope to dodge even if you did anticipate it, and before you know it you're toppling down on top of him as he uses his body to break your fall—two strong arms cradling you to his bare chest.
"you weren't sleeping," you grumble into his neck sullenly, and you feel his chest lift with a laugh. "you tricked me."
"had to, otherwise you might've tried to run away." his hands pat down along your spine, then up over your shoulder blades, holding you tight. "couldn't risk that when you haven't been answering any of my calls."
he lets you pull away but only barely—just enough room to use his chest to push yourself up and look at him, but his hands on your hips keep you pinned in place where you straddle him. when you look down at him, at his pretty face and his bright eyes and the soft smile he always shows you, you feel like you might start crying again—just like the last time you were in this very gym a week prior. the gym whose route you could walk in your sleep, whose walls you have memorized with his name and trophies displayed proudly everywhere you look. Gojo. Gojo. Gojo. the same way the crowds at his fights chant for him and his triumph.
gojo—a name as familiar to you as it is foreign. it's his, but it's not. because the boy below you, staring up at you with that same lovesick expression you've never seen waver, will never be anything to you but satoru. means everything to you as satoru.
"it's not too late," you whisper, reaching up with a shaking hand and running your fingertips along the blush that sits high on his cheeks. "you can still call off the fight, there's still time."
satoru's expression shifts for a moment, so brief you may have missed it if you didn't know him so well. there's a flash of something behind his eyes that reads unmistakably like guilt. he dons a facade of petulance to mask it, his lip pursing in an exaggerated pout.
"i can't believe my own good luck charm doesn't think i can win against some loser," he whines, turning his face and nosing against the palm that was cupping his cheek.
it's not true. you believe in satoru unwaveringly, you know his skill and his abilities. your faith in him is, and always has been, implicit. it's his opponent you don't trust.
it's what the fight might cost him, regardless of the outcome, that terrifies you.
"hey."
your eyes focus again, and you meet satoru's gaze below you. he lifts his hand, cupping yours—so much smaller in comparison—underneath as he holds your touch against his face, pressing a kiss to your palm.
it's so impossibly still in the gym with everyone else gone, but everything about it is known to you. is wholly familiar. the dim fluorescents, the smell that lingers in the air, the hum of the fans, the sound of satoru's breath.
"stop worrying, okay?" he whispers against your skin, kissing your palm again to punctuate the request. "there's no way i'm gonna lose. i'm the strongest, after all."
and there's familiarity in those words too, since he's said them to you more times than you could ever hope to keep track of.
but this time they just don't seem to reassure you the same way.

nightmares ⋆ nanami kento
an. my finals start in june i'm gonna explode yall
cw. sfw. gn!reader. kento has nightmares and he needs you
playing. oh my god by fog lake.
Tumblr media
nanami's been getting more sleep ever since he left jujutsu tech and that shitty nine to five he used to slave at every damn day — along with the fact that he's able to spend more time with you. he likes to say that it helps him sleep, having you within arms reach (something that was extremely rare in the past, considering he had no time to rest).
kento thinks you resemble closely to a human sized pillow, and he often treats you as such. his arms are wrapped around your frame, one of his legs laying on top of yours — his chest rises and falls slowly, small snores leaving his lips — and you're thankful, very thankful; nanami was never able to sleep this soundly when you two lived in tokyo.
you try your best to push his heavy weighted figure away: you groan and complain that he's too big to be sharing this bed with you and that he should be sleeping on the floor instead. yet, you welcome him with open arms every night — pressing kisses to his forehead and running your fingers through his blonde hair.
you'd rather clingy and sleepy nanami who uses you as a personal bolster pillow in the night than sleepless nanami who locks himself away in his office, or exhausted nanami who drags his feet through the entrance of your home with bloodied limbs. it broke your heart more times than you could really count, seeing kento that way.
nanami kento saw his life flash before his eyes in shibuya, and all he could really pray for was to make it out alive so he could see you one last time — even if it were just for a few minutes. he clung desperately onto the last bit of energy and will he had in hopes of making it out alive; even if he was mutilated to a point beyond recognition, he needed to be with you. that was the only way he could let himself go — he would crawl back to your home if it meant he could kiss you one last time.
he never told you how long he'd be gone, or if he'd even come back at all: so you waited anxiously, refreshing news pages and watching the television every night for some sort of good. any sort of indication kento was okay.
he doesn't return home. you only see him when you rush down to the hospital they take him to — barely conscious, holding on to hope he didn't know he still had. nanami regains his full consciousness in the weeks following, the first thing he says being that he's done.
yes, nanami didn't want to risk it. never again.
it's 2 in the morning and you're unable to sleep, nanami's groans and sudden flinches are keeping you up.
"ken?"
the expression on his face is horrific — you feel the guilt wash over you like a wave, high and then crashing; so your fingers find his arms and you try your very best to shake the man awake.
your husband wakes up with a whimper; tired eyes almost brimming with tears at the fact that he is awake and you are real. his mouth is sealed, unable to utter a word, but the way his lips tremble tells you everything he cannot say.
"are you—"
soon, calloused fingers are gripping the flesh of your waist and pulling you impossibly closer. a nightmare, you can already tell: his hands feel clammy and his breathing is laboured.
"ken," you whisper. "'s okay. i'm here."
he sucks air through his teeth, trying to catch his breath. his body shudders at your touch as you graze over his skin — tracing circles on his bare back, your lips on his forehead. kento feels like he's about to cry, but he's not sure from what: at the fact that he had the worst dream of his life, or the fact that he's not dead and you're still here.
"'m s-sorry," he mutters. his voice is strained, still that deep and low tone that you're familiar with — but your heart still breaks as he apologises. "i'm sorry for waking you."
"don't be sorry," you comb your fingers through his hair using your free hand. "you know i don't mind it."
he sniffles and you yearn to hold him even tighter, but you think he would suffer broken ribs if you went through with that; so you settle for his head on your chest and your arms wrapped around his back.
"love you," nanami mumbles, voice getting softer and his grip looser — he feels his heart calm and his mind empty when you touch and hold him just like this. "i love you so much."
nanami wanted to be your protector. he hoped he would be for the remainder of his life — he likes to think he's doing a decent job at it now — but sometimes, it feels as though you are his; you fit awfully well to the title.
he supposes that's why he sleeps longer with you in the same bed as him; it's a peaceful thing knowing you're next to him if he has another bad dream, or if he feels cold and needs your warmth — or if he just wants to lay with you.
"i love you more, ken," you lulled, the tips of your fingernails scratching the skin of his trapezius; he recognises the heart shapes you trace on him. "get some rest."
"okay," he hums, his nose poking at your collarbones — his lips slowly leaving trails of kisses along them. "goodnight, darling."
your lips curl into a smile almost instinctively and you think it's embarassing, but it's much too dark for kento to see you blush at the name he calls you. you're thankful.
"goodnight, baby."
he's thankful that it's close to pitch dark, as well — kento thinks you can't see the smile he has on his face — but what he doesn't realise that you can feel him on your skin; feel the way his cheeks puff and his lips form the small smile you are so familiar with.

Rambles about heavy subjects under the cut
So uhhhhhh
I never thought I'd have to make a post like this, because it just feels weird and I'm not sure what to do or how to phrase things, but
My grandpa died yesterday. I wasn't there when my mom received the call from the hospital, I just heard about it from my sister. My sister and I were never really all that close with him because of some issues within the family, and our mom wasn't too close with him for a while either, but she'd made amends with him. She'd go see him, pick him up for holiday dinners and gatherings so he could be with us and be a part of the family again, and then she'd take him home. He was a diabetic, so she'd even taken on reminding him to take his meds and things, whenever he was with us. I can't tell you how many times she went to the little bar where he liked to go sing karaoke every Tuesday night (I believe. I think it was Tuesday, but it could've been another day of the week, too)
Even though my sister and I weren't really ever close with him, he meant practically the world to our mom. She's been talking to some people, since he didn't have a will or anything written up. His passing was sudden and unexpected, so now everyone's scrambling to figure out the details for what to do with him
We don't have a lot of money. Sometimes it's hard scraping by, as is. My mom works at a hospital, my sister started working at a pet store, and I'm fighting with the social security people to try getting disability. I've been denied probably 3 times already, but I'm still trying my hardest to get through to them
The cheapest option for funeral stuff for my grandpa is cremation, but even then, that's $3000. We don't have that kind of money. His girlfriend's pastor chipped in maybe $500, I think, but beyond that, I'm not sure. I feel like I need to do something to help this situation, since my mom absolutely doesn't need this financial issue on her shoulders. She has a lot to worry about already as things currently stand, and I feel bad that I can't do more for her, but. All I can do is this. Making a post, rambling about the situation, and maybe asking if people could consider donating a little to my Ko-Fi
Donations would help a lot tbh, and I think my current donation goal was set to like... $200 - $250, something like that, but. It's a start. There are some things in my shop you can buy, I'm gonna try to add more soon, and I have commissions open, even though I haven't drawn in ages
I feel really icky about doing this and asking for donations, because I know that for a lot of us, money is tight, and I understand that things aren't cheap anymore. $300 used to get you a heaping cart of groceries that'd last a while, but now, it barely covers enough to last 2 weeks
I.... don't really know how to finish this post off, or how to properly close it, so. Again, donations would be greatly appreciated and it'd help a lot, and I'd be so, so grateful for every cent of it. It's not an obligatory thing by any means. You don't HAVE to donate, and if you can't afford to, I completely understand

Whatever you do to me I’ll do to her. You have one week to decide :)
Gojo stared at the text. His hands shook as he locked the phone and clasped his hands in prayer. “Please!”. He whispered to himself. He didn’t know whom he was praying to or if anyone would even answer his prayers after all the sins he has committed. His mind came up with thousand different solutions but not one of them would save his relationship with you. He stayed that way for a while and stared at your phone in his hand. Yuri had your number. She can contact you any time. He opened your phone and deleted the chat before  blocking the number immediately.
He walked inside and stared at you sleeping peacefully in his white shirt. His skin crawled thinking about sharing the bed with anyone but you. He felt disgusted at himself for letting that happen. You deserved better than this. He sighed and wiped his eyes and got in the bed. He held you close like you would evaporate into thin air.
“Satoru..”. You murmured in your sleep.
“Yes love, I’m here”.
You opened your eyes slowly, “Why are you up?”. Your speech slurred.
“I had to get water. Go to sleep baby. I’m here now. I love you”. He pecked your forehead with quivering lips.
You relaxed and fell asleep within seconds. Gojo wasn’t sure if you’d remember any of this but he was sure of one thing. He can not lose you again.
-X-
You sat across Gojo at the breakfast table, watching him type aggressively on his phone. You sipped your tea quietly and tried to gauge the situation. Gojo had been restless since last night and you could only think that it was something to do with you. “Are you okay?”. You asked, placing the cup back on the saucer.
Gojo looked up from his phone, “Yeah. Why?”.
“You seem..disturbed”.
Gojo sighed, and locked his phone before placing it face down on the table. “Just work”. He brought his cup of coffee to his lips. This was another usual thing that you had noticed. Gojo didn’t like coffee. Gojo pressed his lips together and placed the cup back on the table. “I think we should get your medical test done at home”. Gojo said.
“At home? Is that even possible?”. You frowned.
“Of course it is. I don’t want to tire you out with all the hospital procedures. I could have a medical team visit us and another one can stay on the grounds”.
“Why? The visit would hardly take a couple of hours and..”. You looked at him and then at his phone and smiled. “..Satoru, if you’re busy then we can postpone it or I can go alone or with Jerry”.
Gojo stared at you blankly. How he wished  he could tell you that it was not his schedule that concerned him but rather a psychopathic woman. “No, it’s none of that”. Gojo smiled and reached for your  hand across the table. “I have been thinking of doing this for a while. It would give me more time to spend with you and Keisuke and it’s always better to have doctors on call. Safe for all of us”.
Had you not known about his mother, you would have argued with him, called him paranoid, But his paranoia was not misplaced or meant to cause you harm, it steamed from losing people close to him time and aga. It was for you and your son. “Alright then”.
Gojo brought your hand up and kissed your knuckles.
“Will I see you for lunch today?”.
Gojo’s smile dropped. “I’m sorry, I have to take care of something”.
You got up and walked around to his side and gently ruffled his hair. “That’s alright. I’ll send lunch to your office. Don’t skip your meals”.
Something about the domesticity of the whole situation made the coldness evaporate from his body. Never had he ever had someone dote over him like this but now he had you, his wife. Before you could walk past him, Gojo grabbed your wrist and pulled you towards him. He wrapped his arms around your waist as you stood between his legs and molded his lips to yours. It wasn’t a chaste kiss. It wasn’t a kiss a husband gives before leaving for work. You knew very well what this kiss meant when Gojo swiped his tongue between your lips.
“Satoru! You’ll get late for work!”. You protested as Gojo moved his trail of kisses to the mark on your collarbone.
“But you said I should not skip my meals. How can I skip the most important meal of the day?”. Gojo replied with a smirk as he slowly scrunched up the silk nightgown you were wearing.
His words made you blush and his actions sent shivers down your spine.  But you were in the kitchen and anyone could come in. “You..”. You breathed out. “...need to go”.
Gojo chuckled, “I need you”. He groaned when he realized you were completely bare under the nightgown. He slid two fingers inside making you choke on your moans. “How can I not want you where you’re so wet for me already”. He whispered against the shell of your ear as you clenched around him.
Gojo pumped his fingers as he sucked on every exposed skin he could. But as soon as you were about to cum he pulled his finger out and smiled.
“Why?”. You whined.
Gojo smiled and picked you up by the back of your thighs and sat you down on the top of the counter. “Because I want to taste my meal”.
Before you could voice your concern  about someone walking in on the two of you and finding you in this position, Gojo had his mouth on your core. You balanced yourself on your elbows and threw your head back when he parted your folds with his tongue. Your thighs tightened around his head as he set a perfect rhythm between sucking on your bundle of nerves and abusing the spot inside with his tongue. He knew your body like it was made for him.
“Satoru…”. You breathed out.
Gojo groaned in response which sent a jolt of spark inside you. Your homely kitchen was now filled with sounds of heavy breathing and slurping. You clenched around his tongue which made him even more desperate to please you. Within moments Gojo had you gushing around his tongue. He sighed in satisfaction like a man who had just finished eating his favorite dessert. He licked you clean before standing up to kiss you, giving you a taste of what he had.
“Want me to carry you to the bedroom?”. Gojo asked as he gently picked you up and placed you down so you were almost standing on top of his shoes.
“I’ll be fine”. You smiled and pecked his lips.
“Please let me carry you”. Gojo whispered against your lips making you chuckle. “That’s a yes”. He said and scooped you in his arms. He walked through the marbled corridor carrying his wife and everyone in the path stood aside and gave him the way  you blushed and hid your face in his chest. He was not the ice Prince anymore. He was a doting husband that radiated warmth and comfort.
He walked in the bedroom carrying you and placed you softly on the bed next to Keisuke. “There you go”. He said and placed a kiss on top of yours and Keisuke’s head. “Don’t be a naughty boy and take care of your mom for me”.
-X-
Geto sat silently, ankle crossed over the knee, left index finger pressed against his lips, his fox eyes fixed on the phone in his right hand. He was reading through the text for the third time. He felt guilty. Angry. He felt responsible for all of this. How can he introduce someone like this in Gojo's life?
He kept the phone back on the oak coffee table and let out a heavy sigh.
"It's not your fault". Gojo said for the second time in the past one hour.
Geto shook his head ever so slightly, silently disagreeing with Gojo. But this wasn’t the time for wallowing in the guilt. He needed a way to help his best friend. “Have you told y/n about this?”. He asked, lighting a cigarette.
“No. I can’t”.
Geto frowned, “Why not?”.
“I can’t hurt her. The video is real”. Gojo’s hands were shaking at the thought of your reaction to the messages. “She will never trust me again”.
Geto hummed. The situation was complicated. “We can’t let her leave the estate”.
Gojo shook his head.
“We can’t tell her about this”. Geto added. “Though on one hand it could prove that you did not kill Hiro, but  then we have the video..”.
“Even if I show her the video, even if she believed that I did not kill Hiro, she would never look at me the same way”. Gojo said. He was helpless. It felt like Yuri cut both of his arms off and asked him to save you from drowning.
The two men sat silently thinking about a way out when the phone rang again. Gojo and Geto exchanged a quick glance before looking at the message notification from the same number. Gojo took a deep breath before picking up the phone.
It was another photo.A mirror selfie .Yuri was standing with her one leg stretched out and her phone hiding half her face. She was wearing the same dress that you had worn to the hospital.
Yuri : It looks better on me ;)
Blood drained from Gojo’s face. He felt disgusted with himself.
“Shit”. Geto muttered. “She is clearly stalking y/n. Does y/n have any social media accounts?”.
“No. She doesn’t”. Gojo replied. Eyes still fixed on the photo. Before Gojo could reply, another image popped up. Geto was the one to open it this time.
A photo of you and Hoshi talking while Gojo stood by your side with Keisuke.
“She was at the hospital!”. Gojo frowned.
“It doesn’t have to be her. Maybe someone else is doing the work for her. I will get the security camera footage from the hospital”. Geto spoke as he types away on his phone.
Gojo leaned back in his armchair. Yuri wanted him to be scared. She wanted him to act out of fear. He looked at Geto, “I will call Yuta and have a tracking system set up in the office. We can track her location every time she sends a message”.
Geto nodded in response. “You’ll need more security around her and Keisuke”.
“Or less”. Gojo added. “More security would mean we will have to keep an eye on more people. I think we should have a small team of closest people around them”.
Within two hours the office looked like a scene from a cybercrime movie. Yuta ordered two men on laptops, Geto and Gojo were giving orders on the phone, two men were interrogating househelps lined on the outside of the office, men were checking every corner of the house for hidden cameras and other devices.
Gojo cut the call and ran his  hand through his hair. “I am moving them on the other side of the house”.
Geto stared at his friend, “You mean..?”.
“The left wing. It might need some renovations but I can’t let y/n stay in the same room and sleep on the same bed”.
“Just get a new bed then”. Geto suggested. He knew that for Gojo stepping foot in that part of the house was like taking a trip down horrifying memory lane. It was going to open a pandora’s box of emotional trauma.
“No. I..I can’t let her stay in that room”.
“What will you say to her?”.
“I don’t know…I’ll come up with something”.
The two men stood in silence. Gojo had never stepped foot in that part of the house for the past ten years. When his father spent his final years overlooking the lawn, Gojo would stay on the other side of the house. He didn’t want to give his father the company of a son. For Gojo, his father deserved to be alone in his final days. The thought of bringing up Keisuke in the same rooms as he was brought up made bile rise in his throat. But that can be changed. Once all of this was over, Gojo was determined to move somewhere else. Away from this cursed house.
“Yuri is not in Japan”. Yuta’s voice made both men snap out of their thoughts.
“What do you mean she is not in Japan? Where is she?”. Geto spoke first.
Gojo remained silent. A part of him knew that Yuri would not dare threaten him in this country.
“Where is she?”. He asked coldly.
Yuta remained silent.
Gojo stepped forward, “Yuta, do we know where Yuri is?”.
Yuta shook his head, “The signals are bouncing across different servers in different countries. For all we know she could be in the next street”
Gojo’s phone rang and your name flashed on the screen, He walked away from the group and onto the balcony. “Hi, love”.
“Were you busy?”. You asked.
Gojo could hear Keisuke giggling in the background and wished he could be there with you. “Not really. Had your lunch?”.
“Yes and so did Keisuke”.
“Did you take your medicine?”. Gojo asked.
“Yes.I have sent lunch for you”.
“Okay. I’ll eat it”.
You chuckled. “I have also sent lunch for Geto and Yuta. I heard the three of you were working together”.
“You didn’t have to. I could have asked the kitchen to make it”.
“It was no trouble. By any chance are you on your office balcony?”.
Gojo frowned, “Yes. Why?”.
“Look down, to your right”.
Gojo looked down to the cobbled walkway stretching from the inside of the estate and leading to the gazebo at the back and smiled widely when he saw you standing there in your white floral wrap around dress that he loves so much, holding Keisuke with one arm and your phone with the other. He leaned with his elbows on the granite railing. “This is a nice surprise”.
You chuckled and moved the phone from your ear to Keisuke’s. “Say hi to dada”.
Keisuke babbled and blew spit bubbles.
“Hi baby”. Gojo said, smiling fondly at the two of you.
You put the phone back to your ear, “Why do you look so tired”.
“Because you're away from me”.
Even from this distance Gojo could see you rolling your eyes at him. He chuckled on the phone. "It's because you skip your lunch".
"Maybe I should skip it often if that means you'll come to see me".
"You're unbearable, you know that right?". You asked, shaking your head slightly.
"I know that you love me". Gojo said. Even though you hadn't said it and maybe you didn't love him like you used to but Gojo was sure you loved him.
You bit your lip, "Go back to work Satoru".
Gojo blew you a kiss, "I love you".
You brought Keisuke's tiny arms to his lips and blew a kiss in Gojo's direction.
Gojo stood there watching you disappear inside the building with tears in his eyes. Each day he fell for you more and more. He was ready to face the trauma he had buried for a decade only to see you happy. Nothing else mattered to him in the entire world. Not Yuri, not his past, not his life. He was ready to die for you right now. For him you were his world. His wish granted. His reason to live.
Gojo walked inside and found Geto and Yuta sitting around the table with food in front of them.
"Tell y/n I said thanks!". Geto smiled.
Gojo walked over and sat with them. "Will do".
"Can I call her my sister in law?". Yuta asked innocently with his plate in his lap.
Gojo blushed a little. Until now you were just his wife but now you were a part of his entire family. "I guess you can".
Geto bursted out laughing, "you guess? You have a child with her!".
Gojo groaned and picked up his plate. "You can call her sister in law".
Yuta smiled gleefully. He was young compared to the other two men. But he was smart beyond his age. His talent in risk assessment made him a close aide to Gojo. He had looked up to Gojo since the day Gojo started defying rules of the clan. In a way, by doing so he saved Yuta's life. Had Gojo not set the precedent, Yuta, at the age of 23 would have been married to an heiress whose name he didn't bother to remember. It was Gojo who stood up for him when he told his side of the family about his intention to marry his girlfriend, Rika.
He had met you twice and he was sure you wouldn't remember him. But from everything he had heard about you, he was sure that you had a good heart. It is not easy to make the decisions you had made and for that he respected you.
"Y/n-san cooks really well".
Gojo beamed visibly, "Yeah she does".
Geto remained silent as Gojo and Yuta discussed something about Keisuke. His brain was still trying to get around the fact that Yuri did this. Yuri. "I think you should divorce y/n".
Gojo's words died down this throat. He turned towards Geto, "Suguru". He warned.
"Just to convince Yuri. A fake divorce".
Gojo weighed this option. "But I'll have to tell y/n about it and if Yuri finds out that it's fake she can get worse".
The three men discussed every possible solution and it became clear that it was imperative that they find Yuri first. She was unpredictable. Psychopathic. Powerful.
Geto and Yuta realized the complications it would bring with telling you about all of this. It might save your marriage with Gojo but it would leave some permanent scars.
-X-
It was well past midnight and Gojo walked groggily towards the bedroom. The hallways were silent with most of the staff retired to their quarters.
His phone rang, he smiled thinking it could be you asking about his whereabouts but his smile dropped when he saw Yuri's name pop up on the message notification.
Yuri : You have 6 days to go :)
Gojo chose not to reply.
Yuri : I know something about y/n that you don't :)
Gojo frowned at the message. This could be a trap. A way to get a reaction out of him. There was no way Yuri could know more about you than he did.
Gojo's finger hovered over the text box. He swallowed harshly and locked the phone. If there was something you were keeping from him then he would respect your decision.
Yuri : Did you know that Y/n had to be resuscitated?
Gojo almost dropped his phone. He knew about your anemia. He knew that you suffered excessive blood loss. But this….this couldn't be possible. You would have told him about something this serious.
Yuri : Now that I think about it, y/n's fate is the same as your mother's. She ran away with your child, almost died during the childbirth, wouldn't it be better if you let her go? Free her from the curse of the Gojo clan?
Gojo : What do you mean?
Gojo closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Praying that Yuri reveals it to be a cruel joke and that he had fallen for her prank.
Yuri : Your dear wife didn't tell you that she knew that going through with the birth could kill her? Maybe she forgot to mention how doctors advised her for abortion but she refused and risked her life for the baby? How heroic of her!
Gojo's hands trembled. This was like living through a nightmare…..again..
Gojo : prove it.
Gojo received an email from an unknown email address. He opened it to find multiple attachments, medical reports, prescriptions. He read to each of them carefully.
Yuri : Let her go, Satoru. Unless you want a dead child and a dead wife :)
Gojo locked the phone. He briskly walked towards the bedroom. Determined to get an answer.
You were sitting outside the bedroom, in the living room attached to the bedroom, reading a book, wearing one of Gojo's shirts with your hair in a claw clip.Your legs sprawled over the velvet couch. You flipped through pages intently, so immersed in the story that you couldn’t see him standing at the doorway. Gojo leaned on the doorframe and folded his hands over his chest. If what Yuri had told him was true and all those documents were original then he wanted to know why did you risk your life? Would you have come with him if Keisuke was not in the picture? Would you have stayed with him if it wasn’t for Keisuke?
Gojo cleared his throat as he walked in with his hands in his pockets.
“Hi”. You looked up and smiled at him. You closed the book, placed a bookmark between the pages and put it on the table.
“Why aren’t you in bed?”.Gojo sat on the other end of the couch and put your feet in his lap.
“I was waiting for you”. You said, as you rested your head sideways on the backrest.
Gojo smiled and gently massaged your feet. “Geto and Yuta thanked you for the lunch”.
You smiled. “What do you want to ask me?”. You asked.
Gojo chuckled, looking down, tracing circles on your calf. He looked at you, “You know me that well?”.
“Very well”. You retreated your feet and sat cross legged on the couch, facing him,
Gojo opened his mouth to say something but then closed it immediately.
You placed your hand on his, “Satoru..”.
Gojo gulped harshly and turned towards you. You could see he was in pain. The kind of pain that couldn’t be fixed easily.
“Was there any complications during your pregnancy?”. He asked. He crafted his words carefully, he couldn’t say ‘how dare you risk your life?’
You knew he knew. In that moment with the sadness in his eyes and his careful choice of words, you knew he knew. You didn't want to hide it anymore. You didn’t want to keep him in the dark anymore.
“I…I don’t know how you find out but..yes there were complications. But nothing to do with Keisuke”. You squeezed his hands gently.
“What about you?”. Gojo asked, still looking down.
“Yes. There were”.
“When did you find out?”.
“Satoru..it doesn’t matter now”. You pleaded, scooting closer to him.
“It does”. Gojo nodded his head. “It does. To me. So please, tell me”.
You took a deep breath, “In my second trimester. The doctor told me that I was at a higher risk for hemorrhage and…it could be fatal to ..”. You bit the inside of your cheek, you didn’t have to complete that sentence. You didn’t want to. You still remembered receiving that news and crying the entire night.
“What happened during your delivery?”. Gojo asked with tears in his eyes.
You didn’t want to answer. Knowing very well how triggering it could be for him. You remained silent.
“Y/n please…I..I need to know”.
Your lips quivered and you intertwined your fingers with his. “Everything was fine until Keisuke was born but after that…it happened. They couldn’t stop the bleeding and I..-”.
“You had to be resuscitated”. Gojo finished the sentences for you. In any other case finishing each other's sentences is seen as a romantic gesture but the gesture was nothing but grim.
Your silence confirmed everything about his worst fear. For the longest time Gojo cursed his mother for dying with his sibling instead of living with him. He needed to know why would you condemn him to the same fate. Was he that unworthy of love? Was he that rotten of a human being? Did he not deserve love? Why didn’t you choose him? Why didn’t you reach out to him if there was a threat to your life?
“You were given an option to terminate the pregnancy”. Gojo said, it was neither a question nor a suggestion. It was a reminder.
“I was”. You agreed.
Gojo squeezed his eyes shut and let the tears roll down his cheeks. This was the first time he was openly crying in front of you.The ache spread across his body. “Why? Why? Why?”. He turned towards you.
Your heart broke seeing him like this. You took both of his hands in yours, “I had to, Satoru. I …had to”.
“Why?”.
You swallowed the lump in your throat harshly. “Because …you are you and I am me but..Keisuke is a part of both of us. I didn’t think we could ever be together again or if you even cared that I was alive, but Keisuke was the only way a part of me could ever be with a part of you and that was more important to me than my own life. For me just wanting to be with you was enough. It has always been enough. Even when I saw you with…Utahime I still hoped somewhere that one day I'd be with you and …someday you'll love me so…when the doctor told me of the risk, I was ready to accept it…”.
Gojo’s heart skipped a beat. You didn’t have to say anything else. You loved him. You didn’t have to say it. Keisuke was proof enough that you loved him how he loved you.
“I knew that even if I don’t survive, someday you will find him…and he will be proof that I..I ..love you…”.
Gojo let out a shuddered breath. This was the first time you had openly confessed your love to him, “Why didn’t you reach out to me? I could have done something..anything…if you loved me then why didn't you trust me that I would come for you”.
“It wasn’t that simple, Satoru. What was I even supposed to say? I couldn’t just call your office and say ‘hi I am alive and I am carrying your child and I might die?’. No one even knew about us, who would have believed me?”.
“I would have..I..if you would have said one word I would have left everything and come to you”.
You remained silent. You put your arm on his shoulder and kneeled on the couch. “I promise I will call you next time ”.
Gojo chuckled and wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled you on his lap with your legs resting neither side of his waist. "Next time? There will be no next time. I am not letting you go anywhere y/n Gojo. I have only ever loved one woman in my life and if she asks for my life I'd give it to her". Gojo tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. "Even when I was with Utahime, I only thought about you. Even when I didn't know you were out there I only thought about you. The thought of you kept me alive and kept me going through the day. It still does. When I'm at work all I can think about is coming home and lying in bed with you. So don't you ever think for a second that I'm not thinking about you. You occupy my mind, heart and soul y/n Gojo".
You blushed, "Alright then. I will call you even if I don't need you".
“You promise?”.
“I promise”.
“You’ll call me even if it’s for something small”. Gojo kissed the tip of your nose.
“Yes”.
“Even if you’re just missing me?”.
You cupped his face and wiped the tears off of his cheeks. “Yes”.
“Even if you need a massage?”.
You corked an eyebrow. “You’ll leave work to give me a massage?”.
“Obviously”.
“Then, Yes. I’ll call you”.
“Even if you need help reaching the top shelf?”. Gojo asked, smiling.
“You’re pushing it now”. You pinched his nose and Gojo laughed.
"Just tell me if anything is bothering you. Even if it's the house temperature".
You smiled and kissed the tip of his noses "Okay".
Gojo rubbed your arm as you lay next to him with your back pressed to his chest.
“Y/n..”.
“Yes?”.
“Aren’t you going to ask me how I..found out about..”.
“No”.
Gojo frowned. “Why not?”.
“I’m sure you have your ways”. You said flatly.
“Are you mad at me for..finding out?”.
“No”.
“Why not?”.
You turned around to face him. “Do you want me to be mad at you?”.
“No”.
Gojo lay awake wondering if it was right of him to confront you. Do you really think that he can…he would find out whatever he wants to know instead of asking you about it? Sure he might have done that in the past but this was different. Gojo made a mental note to never do this again.
“Then stop asking stupid questions”.
"What you did for Keisuke....was really brave. He is lucky to have you as a mother"
-X-
Gojo stood uncomfortably inside the closet, waiting for you to get done with dressing Keisuke.
When you walked inside you saw Gojo standing between the rows of clothes. "Why aren't you ready yet?". You asked, putting away Keisuke's clothes in the laundry basket.
"I want to talk to you about something".
"What is it?". You asked, ruffling through the clothes, looking for your yellow dress.
"Y/n..". Gojo called out.
You picked out the hangar with the dress and turned towards him. "Yes?".
"We are moving". Gojo said abruptly.
Your arms fell by your side and you frowned, "What do you mean we are moving? Where are we moving to?".
Gojo stepped forward and caressed your arms, "It's not that kind of moving. I am just shifting everything to the left wing of the house".
You looked up at him, "Left wing?". You didn't know what prompted Gojo to make this decision but you knew that something was going on.
"Yes".
"Why?".
"It's better".
"How?".
Gojo chuckled, "I grew up there and it's ideal for a family. There is a nursery which we can renovate for Keisuke".
You bit your lip, "Satoru, that wing has been closed off for years. I wasn't allowed to go there and now you are asking me to move there? What is going on?".
Gojo frowned and took a step back. "You tried to go there? Why?".
You cursed yourself mentally. "I was just….exploring".
Gojo studied your face and nodded slightly, "Yes it's true. I had closed it off because of-"
"I know". You admitted, shamefully.
"What… ". Gojo tilted his head, "...what do you know?".
You sighed heavily. There was no turning back now. "Everything. I think…. everything. You never spoke about your family and that wing was forbidden from me so I…I got curious and I asked around".
"To whom?!". Gojo frowned.
"Jerry".
Gojo sucked in a sharp breath and looked away.Of course out of everyone Jerry would be the one to tell you. "Y/n….". He didn't care that you asked around. You had every right to do so. He wondered why you didn't ask him?
"I know that it's something you didn't want me to know and I'm sorry that I went behind your back". You looked down, playing with the hem of Gojo's shirt.
Gojo stepped forward and wrapped his arms around you, "No need to apologize". He kissed the top of your head and smiled to himself when he felt you relax.
"But why are you asking us to move there? You don't have to. I am perfectly happy here". You said, resting your chin on his chest.
"There are some security issues. I can't go into the details but I also don't want to keep you in the dark. It's for yours and Keisuke's safety. Please trust me on this".
"Safety?". You stepped back.
"Yes".
"Why? What's happening?".
Gojo could sense the fear rising inside you and put his arms on your shoulder,"It's nothing to worry about. Just a precaution".
"If it's nothing to worry about, then why are we taking precautions?".
"Because…I don't want to take any risk".
"But…. Satoru, that part of the house can be very…disturbing for you. I mean…it has some bad …memories attached to it".
Gojo smiled, "That's why I want to make good ones there. It's also closer to the office and much more secure".
You took a deep breath "Okay…. If it's for Keisuke's safety then sure".
"Thank you. You don't have to do anything. Just call me if you need anything".
You nodded your head. "And you can also tell me if you need anything". You smiled.
"I need a kiss". Gojo said, immediately.
"I gave you a kiss this morning". You hit his chest gently and moved away.
"Since when did we start counting kisses?".
You giggled and stood on your toes to peck his lips. "There you go".
Gojo wrapped his arms around your waist and didn't let you move away, "One for last night"
You rolled your eyes and gave him another peck.
"One for this morning".
"I kissed you this morning!".
Gojo raised an eyebrow letting you know that he could tell when the kiss wasn't genuine.
You gave him a pressed smile and kissed him again but this time Gojo didn't let you break the kiss so easily. Instead he placed a hand on the back of your head and deepened the kiss.
You moaned loudly when he sucked on your lower lip and ran his tongue across it.
"Now that's how you're supposed to kiss your husband".
"Are you my husband though?". You teased him.
Gojo looked at you, "You wanna get married again?".
Your laugh died down, "What?".
"Do you want to marry me?...again?".
You moved back and tucked the strand of hair behind your ear. "I … I…guess...I mean …I was just…teasing you".
Gojo held your hand and walked over to the shelf with all the jewelry. "Whenever you're ready you can wear the ring". He spoke as he wrapped his arms around your waist and kissed the side of your head.
Your smile dropped. "I don't want to wear that ring".
"Why not?". Gojo asked and turned you around to face him.
"Too many bad memories ". You smiled sadly and Gojo understood. You were right. You didn't have to start from where you left off. You can start from a new chapter.
Gojo smiled and walked around you to open the glass case. He looked at all the rings he had bought and smiled to himself when he found the one he was looking for. He picked out the carrier Trinity ring and got on one knee. "Y/n Gojo, will you do me the honor of marrying me again?".
You laughed and nodded your head. Gojo kissed your hand and slipped the ring in your ring finger.
"But where is your ring?". You teased him. Gojo stood up and tugged your hand and walked over to his side of the closet. He opened the glass case with his watches and cufflinks and picked out the silver Cartier ring that he had bought along with yours.
"There you go". He gave you the ring and you couldn't hold your laughter.
"Are we really getting married in a closet?".
"Yes ma'am we are". Gojo replied. Laughing along with you.
You slid the ring in his ring finger and while you were giggling the entire time, chalking this as another one of Gojo's playful tactics , Gojo almost had tears in his eyes. Yes you were wearing white, his white shirt. He was in his black trousers. Yes you two love each other and for him this was a wedding.
"Congratulations, you are now my husband!". You smiled at him and Gojo chuckled before picking you up in his arms and carrying you out of the closet.
He held his and your left arm in front of Keisuke and gloated ,"look your mum and dad are married".
You couldn't stop giggling and Keisuke followed suit which made you laugh even more. You didn't remember the last time you had laughed this much or you were this happy. You tiptoed and pulled Gojo into a kiss which he happily returned.
-X-
There had been no message from Yuri this morning and it relieved Gojo but also scared him. What if all this was a silence before the storm? He had questions he wanted to ask her but he knew he wouldn't get an answer. How far did she dig to find out about your pregnancy? What else does she know? What else can she find out?
A team was already cleaning up the left wing of the house. Gojo had gotten a new wardrobe, one that was untouched by Yuri's filthy hands. He was sure you wouldn't know the difference given your lack of interest in those clothes. There were more cameras in the bedroom. Even more in Keisuke's nursery. Gojo was apprehensive about keeping Keisuke in a separate room under these circumstances but the architecture of the room made the nursery even safer.
The master bedroom was big, almost twice the size of one he was living in. A semi-living room was at the entrance of the suite. The entrance to the bedroom was at the far end of the living room. No one could enter the bedroom without passing through the living room.
Inside the bedroom, the bed faces the ceiling length windows that opened up to the balcony. On the left hand side, little further from the door, was the ensuite followed by the walk-in wardrobe. On the farthest end of the bedroom was the entrance to the nursery. Making it impossible for anyone to enter the nursery without crossing the length of the bedroom.
The nursery possessed the ceiling length bulletproof glass window, a crib, a bed, wardrobe, toy shelf and a bookshelf. It had been Gojo's nursery when he was born. The walls were freshly painted baby blue with little clouds and carrots on it. All of Keisuke's toys were thoroughly inspected for any hidden cameras. All of his clothes had a tiny GPS tracker stitched under the collar. Gojo didn't tell you about this detail to retain your peace of mind.
The only downside was that the kitchenette was farther from the bedroom than it had been before. But Gojo dismissed it as a tiny sacrifice. He needed to buy time to execute everything so he had told you this morning that he would take you and Keisuke to the left wing in the evening to familiarize you with it. So for now, to his annoyance, you were still in the same bedroom.
Before leaving for work, he had told Jerry about everything that was happening. He had to know to protect you. Jerry was given strict instructions to not let anyone near you or Keisuke. Even limiting your movement inside the house to the bedroom and his office. Jerry understood of course and gave his word that he would do his best to protect the family. Gojo was grateful that you chose Jerry to help with Keisuke. It made everything a lot easier.
"What do we know about her location?". Gojo asked, typing on his laptop.
Yuta stopped up, balancing his laptop on his forearm and walked over to Gojo's desk, "We have zeroed it down to Japan and China". He said, placing the laptop on the table and showing Gojo the screen that flickers with red dots over the suspected areas.
Gojo nodded. It was not enough but it was progress. It was only the second day. He had to track down Yuri at all costs. "Send me the list of places that are in and around Tokyo, we'll start from here".
Yuta nodded and took the laptop back to the conference table where he and his team were working.
Geto walked in and gave a quick nod to Gojo before walking over to the coffee table and chugging down the entire jug of water.
Gojo watched him intently, "What happened?". He asked.
Geto walked over and sat opposite him and lit a cigarette. Gojo brought over the crystal ashtray he keeps in his office only for Geto and placed it in front of him.
"Did you talk to y/n? About moving to the left wing?"
"Yes. She agreed. I told her it was for security reasons".
Geto nodded and took another drag.
"What's up with you?". Gojo asked, frowning.
"Yuri..messaged me". Geto said and placed his phone in front of Gojo.
Unknown: Are you sure moving y/n to the left wing will save her?
Gojo's jaw dropped. How did she know? How could she know? You hadn't even moved yet?
"Yuta, take everyone with you to the seco office". Gojo said, still staring at the phone.
He looked up at Geto and Geto nodded, confirming Gojo's suspicion. "It's someone on the inside".
"But we interrogated everyone!". Gojo said, slamming his hand on the table and walking over to the window.
Geto rotated his chair to face Gojo, "Not everyone".
Gojo turned around, "What do you mean?".
Geto took a deep breath and ashed his cigarette. "Y/n… We didn't interrogate her".
"We don't need to interrogate her". Gojo said.
"Look, all I'm saying is, isn't it suspicious how y/n has suddenly developed this trust in you? She ran away from you! She hid the baby from you! If you hadn't found her then maybe…she would have continued that way. For all we know she has conspired with Yuri and this is her way to get a divorce from you! She wouldn't even have to share custody!".
"Suguru!".  Gojo glared at him. "That's enough".
Geto scoffed, "You love her. You went insane because of her! That's the effect she has on you! I don't blame you for wanting to punch me in the face right now but I am just looking out for you!".
"Keep y/n out of this". Gojo warned, glaringly.
"Satoru"
"Even if y/n is behind this, I can't let her go. I won't let her go".
Geto let out a heavy breath. "Fine. Can I at least talk to her?".
Gojo raised an eyebrow, "talk to her?".
"Yes". Geto smiled. "I swear I'll just talk to her".
"In my presence". Gojo added and walked back to his seat.
"Come on, you have to trust me on this. I swear I will just talk to her. I haven't even met Keisuke yet!".
"No. If you want to talk to her then either do it in my presence or don't ".
"20 minutes. You can come in after that"
Gojo groaned and closed his eyes. "Fine. You get 10 minutes, that's all. Meet Keisuke, talk to her, But not a second above 10 minutes".
"Perfect".
When lunch time rolled around Gojo and Geto made their way towards the dining area. Gojo had already told you that Geto would be stopping by for lunch and you were genuinely looking forward to seeing him. The last time you had seen Geto was years ago, before everything went down. You didn't even know what to say to him but good food is a universal language.
When you saw Geto walk inside the dining room alone your eyes immediately went to the empty space behind him. Why was Gojo not here?
"Hi, y/n". Geto Suguru said as he stood in front of you.
"Hi".
Gojo stood outside, at a distance from the dining room. He checked his watch every minute, waiting for the 10 minutes to pass by. He trusted Geto. But he knew you were smart.
As soon as the 10 minutes were up he walked into the dining room, concerned, ready with explanation, but his worries faded away when he saw Geto holding Keisuke and playing with him while you watched them.
"Sorry I'm late". Gojo said and walked over to you. He placed his hand on the small of your back and pulled you towards him gently.
"He's so…..small". Geto said as he gently tugged on Keisuke's cheeks. "...and soft".
"Now you understand how tough it is to leave this and go to work". Gojo added.
The three of you sat around the table and talked like old friends catching up. But beneath the laughter and nostalgia, one of the three of you was hurting.
"You okay?". Gojo asked as he stood at the doorway.
"Yes".
Gojo studied your face. It was blank. "Are you-"
"I need to change Keisuke. I'll text you later". You smiled and pecked his lips.
Gojo smiled, and kissed you back. Geto called for him from a distance and Gojo left you standing there at the doorway.
"Are you alright?". Jerry asked as he brought Keisuke to you.
"Yes Jerry. I am".
"Your medicine ma'am". Jerry handed you the pills and you swallowed them with water.
"Thank you".
"What did you ask her?". Gojo asked Geto as soon as they were out of sight from the dining hall.
"Just questions". Geto shrugged.
"What questions?". Gojo stopped walking and stared at Geto who stopped two steps ahead.
Geto turned back and sighed, "I just asked her how she was adjusting to this life".
Gojo studies Geto's face. "She might look strong but she isn't. It's not easy uprooting your life every year and starting fresh. I hope you were…gentle".
Geto looked at the genuine concern in Gojo's face and bit the inside of his cheeks. "I was".
-X-
The cool breeze of the evening brought you relief as you sat cross legged on the balcony chair. You didn't know what was going on but you knew you were a suspect. You twirled the tea spoon in the lukewarm tea and thought about your conversation with Geto. He was trying to get something out of you, trying to get you to confess to something, but what could it be?
You also knew that Gojo was probably in on it. Did he not trust you? Why didn't he ask you directly what he wanted to know?  Could you confront him about this? Should you? Would it affect his and Geto's friendship? Or would it put you in trouble?
You leaned back in the chair and watched the birds fly against the setting sun. They were on their way home. But what about you? Could you ever be home? You had moved here with Gojo and yet he was doubting you. There was no right answer. No right way to approach this. You knew Gojo would come any minute now. He said he was going to come home early today. While he wanted to move to the left wing tonight, you had messaged him after lunch to move tomorrow morning because Keisuke was being fussy today and changing his environment seemed like a bad idea to you. But now you wondered if that put you under more suspicion.
Your head was spinning conjuring all these theories. But you had to look out for yourself. Gojo loved you, you were sure of it. But did he trust you?
"Hey". Gojo walked in on the balcony.
You craned your neck back and smiled. "Hi".
"Why are you out here?". Gojo asked as he sat down next to you.
"Just…needed to be alone".
"Why?". Gojo asked, moving his chair closer to yours.
You shrugged with your eyes fixed on the distant point on the lawn. You were human, you had your limits and you were tired.
"What did Geto ask you?". Gojo asked, looking at your hands folded on your lap.
"Just questions".
Gojo bit his lip in annoyance. "What questions?".
"Why don't you go ask him?". Your words came out sharper than you had expected. Maybe it was because you were reaching your tipping point.
"Y/n... If there is something bothering you then I want you to tell me".
You scoffed. "Why don't you tell me what's bothering you?".
Gojo's heart dropped to his stomach. He was at a loss of words.
"Nevermind. I'm going to bed". You got up but Gojo stood up and blocked your way. "Satoru, move. Please".
"Let's talk about it. Please".
You looked up at him, "I have nothing to say to you except that whatever it is that's…going on, I have nothing to do with it. You want to put me under surveillance then go ahead and do it. I don't care anymore". You tried to walk past him but his hand on your waist stopped you.
"I know you have nothing to do with it. Geto just wanted to talk to you". Gojo spoke softly.
"I know when I'm being talked to and when I'm being interrogated".
"He didn't mean any harm. I'm sorry if he was harsh with you. He just wanted to be…safe".
You nodded your head. "Okay".
"No no no. Don't give me an okay ".
Gojo's hands dropped by his side. He'll fix it later. When he has an answer or an explanation.
"Just ….let me go. I need to rest".
"y/n.... please talk-".
"I don't feel good. I should sleep now".
-X-
There was a heavy silence at the breakfast table this morning. No morning kisses were exchanged. By the time Gojo had woken up you were already done getting ready for the day and so was Keisuke.
"The left wing is ready to move in. Let me know whenever you're ready". Gojo asked, giving you a short smile that was not reciprocated.
"Okay".
"I won't be coming for lunch". Gojo added. Hoping to get a glare from you but was meant with the same icy expression.
"Okay".
Gojo bit his lip. "You look beautiful today". He smirked.
But your expression didn't change. You opened your mouth to say something but Gojo cut you off. "Please don't say okay".
"Fine".
Gojo groaned and let his fork clank against the ceramic plate.
"If you're mad at me then just be mad at me!". He whined.
You kept your fork down on the plate and looked at him. "I'm not mad at you".
Gojo scoffed, "I can see that. All he did was ask some questions y/n! For your safety!". Gojo closed his eyes in regret as soon as the words left his mouth.
You gritted your teeth and looked at him. "Satoru I uprooted my whole life! Moved here with you! Tried my best to give us a chance! And now I am being questioned by you and Geto?You...Who has always lied to me from the beginning! Why am I the one who is being questioned here when you were the one who left me for someone else, lied to me, drugged me, forced me to move here by threatening to hurt people I care about! Why?! Why am I expected to trust you when you can't even do the same for me!". Tears rolled down your eyes as you let out your pent up frustration.
Gojo was frozen in his seat. He knew it was a bad idea. He should not have listened to Geto. "Y/n….".
"I'm fine. I'll be fine". You wiped your tears with your palm. "I'm sorry I got carried away. I didn't mean to bring up all that". You got up to keep the plates in the sink and Gojo followed you.
He wrapped his arms around your waist and turned you to face him. "You have nothing to be sorry about. Nothing. You don't have to be fine with all of this. Complain as much as you want to. Demand what you want. But don't be …fine".
"Okay". You relaxed in his arms.
"Don't say okay".
"Fine". You replied, a smile tugging at your lips.
Gojo looked down and shook his head. "Don't say fine".
"Alright". You chuckled.
Gojo smiled and kissed your forehead. "I'm sorry for letting Geto talk to you".
"No it's alright. He was just doing his job".
"I'll punish him, don't worry". Gojo winked at you. Trying to ease the tension. When you voiced out your frustration it dawned on him just how stupid and hypocritical the whole idea was. His eye drifted to your ring finger and his tension eased a little when he saw that you were still wearing that ring. Maybe this is what a secure life feels like, when even when you fight and disagree you still stay by each other's side at the end of the day.
You silently wrapped your arms around him and took a deep breath. "Promise me we'll be fine".
"I promise". Gojo hugged you tighter and kissed your forehead. "We'll be fine".
You nodded your head and pulled back. "You should go now. You'll get late".
"I can stay with you today. Work can wait". Gojo said, studying your face. You looked shaken up. Tired. Your eyes were sunken in and your face looked pale.
"I'll be fine".
Gojo studied your face. You were not fine. He took his phone out, "I'm staying with you".
You kept your hand on his arm that was holding the phone and brought it down. "No need to stay. Why don't you go and stay after lunch? That would be better".
Gojo bit his lip nervously, "You sure?".
"Yes".
"I'll send in a doctor to check on you. You don't look so good".
You nodded your head. He was right. You had been feeling more tired than usual and your bones ached with every moment. But hopefully you'll get to rest with him after lunch.
"Okay".
Gojo texted Jerry on his way.
Mr.Gojo : Keep an eye on y/n. I want an update on her every hour.
Jerry : Yes sir.
Mr.Gojo : If she seems slightly distressed, call me immediately.
Jerry : Yes sir.
Gojo glared at Geto the moment Geto walked inside the office.
"I'm sorry". Geto said  firstly. "I ..I might have gone overboard but I didn't mean any harm". He raised his hands by his side.
Gojo remained silent. "You should be apologizing to her".
"She should have fought with me".
"She didn't fight with me. She was upset but she understood that we are doing this for some reason".
"She didn't ask you the reason". Geto asked, lighting a cigarette.
"No".
"Why?". Geto smirked. You were still under his radar.
"Because she was saving me from lying to her".
Geto hummed. "Did she tell you that?".
"She didn't have to".
"Right….cause couples have telepathy".
"She understood that you were doing your job. But I want you to remember that it's not easy for her either…living here with me. Dealing with all of this? She didn't sign up for this. You can doubt her if you want to but at least be gentle with her. She might look strong and collected on the outside but…she's going through a lot".
Geto hummed. "We'll if you put it that way…then you're right. I do owe her an apology. I'll meet with after lunch…in your presence of course and apologize to her..but she's still not in the clear*.
Gojo scoffed. If Geto hadn't been his best friend Gojo would have buried him six feet under yesterday. "Why don't we find Yuri first and then we can confirm your suspicion?".
"We can do both".
Gojo frowned, "How?".
"We send y/n to Yuri".
Gojo's glare turned icy. The temperature in the room dropped and everyone was aware of the shift in mood.
Geto straightened up. "Not alone. Obviously. We will be tracking her".
"No".
"Satoru".
"No".
"Alright. I'll find another way".
Gojo leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. No. There was no way he was going to let you go to Yuri.
-X-
Yuri sipped on her coffee and twirled the phone in her other hand. She was waiting for the good news. If everything was going according to the plan then Geto must have confronted you somehow and that would have pushed you and Gojo apart. Little by little.
Mr.Man : Didn't work
Yuri looked at the text and her self reassuring smile dropped. Fucking Geto! She wondered whether the plan fell through because of Geto or because of Ms. Goody two shoes attitude. If exposing your pregnancy to Gojo didn't push you two apart, if Geto's suspicion didn't push you two apart then she knew none of her other minor plans would.  She had to pull out the big guns.
She gulped down the searing coffee and slammed the mug on the table. The ceramic mug broke in her hand and sliced her thumb. She chuckled. Tears rolled down her cheeks as her throat burned and hands bled. She brought up the sliced thumb and smeared the blood across your photo on her desk. She brought up Gojo's photo and put her thumb on his lips. "I'll burn for you, I'll bleed for you…soon you'll be mine"
Yuri : Plan B.
-X-
Gojo and Geto were going over different locations where Yuri could have been. Geto had a stack of paper in front of his hand which outlined every connection to Yuri.
"What about the man at the hospital? The one that clicked the photo?". Gojo asked.
Geto shook his head, still flipping through pages, "He was picked up randomly on the street and paid to click her photo". Geto looked up at Gojo. "He thought y/n was a celebrity and the paparazzi wanted a photo of her. He had never seen the man who approached him and paid him for the job. We have his sketch and the police are still looking for him".
Gojo cursed under his breath. Geto was calm, he was moving in a calculated way but Gojo on the other hand was getting restless. There was no text from Yuri and it was not a good sign. He knew that Yuri was playing with Geto. He knew Yuri would do everything in her power to pull you two apart but Gojo was not going to let that happen.
His phone chimed and both men exchanged nervous looks. Gojo carefully picked up his phone and frowned.
Geto took his phone from his hand. "What does this mean?".
Yuri : Run.Run.Run.
Before Gojo could reply Jerry barged through the door, sweating, panicked, scared.
The three men stood outside the bedroom, waiting for Shoko, as you lay unconscious inside. The medical team had left an hour ago  and Gojo was counting each  second pass by. He had asked Shoko but she refused to say anything until the blood reports were back.
Keisuke cooed in Gojo's arm, oblivious to the condition of his mother. The sun had set long ago and it had been over 5 hours. Gojo was going restless with each passing minute. Geto had been watching CCTV footage of the house the entire  day to see if there had been any intruder but he found nothing. Gojo hadn’t asked anything to anyone while Shoko and the medical team were here but now he wanted to know. “Jerry tell me what happened, exactly".
Jerry wiped the sweat off his forehead and took a deep breath. "Mrs.Gojo had just finished with master Keisuke's bath and she was going to dress him up. She walked out of the wardrobe but master Keisuke started crying so she picked him up and asked me to get his bottle from the kitchen. But before I could reach the kitchen I heard her call for me so I came running inside. She looked ..pale. the color drained from her face and she was gently swaying. I sensed something was wrong so I rushed to where she was standing. She asked me to hold master Keisuke and call for a doctor and then…then she collapsed on the floor. Then I called for the medical team before calling you".
Gojo gently rocked Keisuke in his arms. "Did she take her medicine?".
"Yes sir". Jerry replied.
"Did she ever skip a dose?". Geto asked next.
"No sir. Never".
Geto turned towards Gojo and he knew by the look on his face that Yuri had hit her mark. "Maybe it's because of stress or fatigue".
Gojo took a deep breath, "Do you really believe that?".
Geto closed his eyes and leaned against the wall. Keisuke stared at him over Gojo's shoulder and smiled. Geto returned the smile and winked at him.
"Satoru, can I talk to you?". Geto asked standing upright, "Alone?".
Gojo nodded at Jerry and Jerry took his leave. Gojo put down Keisuke in the pram carefully and covered it.
"You said, there were cameras in the room?".
"Yes". Gojo replied and handed Geto his phone which showed the camera feed.
Geto watched it carefully. Then, he replayed it again. "Interesting…" he hummed.
"What?". Gojo asked, looking at the phone screen.
"Everything happened just as Jerry had described it".
"He was there. He saw it all".
"It's still weird that he was able to describe it scene by scene. Usually when people go through such an experience, their recollection varies slightly from the reality but he was spot on".
"Suguru, I trust you, but you suspected y/n and we know how that turned out. Now you are suspecting Jerry? He has been with my family forever. He was the one who alerted us and the medical team. If he was involved in this then he could have run away".
Geto listened to Gojo carefully. "He stays with them everyday?".
"From  9 am to 9 pm".
"Is y/n close to him? Do they discuss her problems?".
Gojo bit the inside of his cheeks. "Yes".
"Has he ever interfered with your…". Geto shrugged for the lack of words, "..marital issues?".
Gojo scoffed, "Not in a bad way".
"But he has?".
"Yes. He has".
Geto nodded and looked down at the pram, "Who chose him to be with them?".
"Y/n did"
"Interesting. Why didn’t she choose anyone else from the staff?”.
Gojo sighed, “Because she was not close with anyone else. We both trusted Jerry and decided it is best to have someone like him to stay with them”.
Geto sensed Gojo’s frustration and refrained from talking further about it. It was best to wait for  Shoko’s analysis.
“Y/n will be fine”. He put an arm on Gojo’s shoulder and gave it a light squeeze.
Gojo nodded. “She has to be”.
Shoko walked in, glaring at Gojo. The two men immediately straightened up in her presence. “How is she?”. Gojo asked.
“You knew she had anemia”.
Gojo frowned and looked at Geto, “Of course I did. I called you ..remember?”. He added.
“I do. I also remember looking at her reports and prescribing her medicines which she had to take daily”.
“She was taking them daily”.
Shoko looked at Geto, who corked a brow. “No she wasn’t”.
Gojo’s pulse raced. “What..what do you mean?”.
“Her reports are back. Her anemia has worsened”.
Gojo’s world stood still on its axis. “That’s..that’s..not possible. She was taking her medicines daily”.
Shoko shook her head. “I had my suspicions so I sent her medicines to the lab and they were not the ones I had prescribed. Well one of them was. The others were Dapsone”.
“Shoko I don’t understand….what do you mean?”.
Shoko sighed. “Satoru, let's sit down”.
Gojo pushed the stroller and sat down opposite her and Geto. “Shoko what’s going on? Is she going to be fine?”.
“I have my suspicion that someone switched her medicines. Her blood count was too low so I sent the medicine in the lab and out of five only one was the medicine that I had given her and the rest were a drug called Dapsone. Dapsone is used to induce Anemia, not cure it. I can estimate that she was administered this drug for no more than five days but given her condition it could have been fatal”.
Gojo’s mouth ran dry. “Fa..fatal? You mean…”
“Life threatening”.
Gojo’s shoulder dropped. “Is she going to be fine?”.
“Yes. But she needs rest and care”.
“Who gave her the meds everyday?”. Geto asked,Gojo looked at him . The two men exchanged nods and Geto was already on his phone.
Gojo nodded his head. Had Yuri continued to torture Gojo, he would have beared it all. Had she asked for all his wealth, he would have given it all to her. Had she asked for his life in return of yours, he would have given it to her. But she made the most fatal mistake of her life by going after you. No one was safe now. No one was in the clear now. No more interrogations. No more suspects. Yuri had declared a war and now she would have to fight it.
Gojo thought about the fight last night and how this morning he didn't even tell you he loved you. He made the same mistake he made last time, leaving you when his gut told him to stay.
"I don't care who gave her the meds..I can't hurt her anymore. She deserves to live a happy life". Gojo picked up his phone and called Yuta, "Get me the divorce papers".
The man on the other side of the wall listened to the conversation. He smiled. The plan had worked.
-X-
Yuri : I need updates!
Yuri : Why are you ignoring me?!
Yuri : Is  that bitch dead?
Yuri : Where the fuck are you? Pick up my call!
Yuri : Did they move her to another location?
Mr.Man : Things might have gone out of control.
Yuri : I told you we should have gone for a lighter dose!
Mr.Man : Have faith.
Mr.Man : He might reach out to you. I overheard him talking to the detective.
Yuri : What should I do?
Mr.Man : Strike when iron is hot.
Yuri : What does that mean? Should I meet him?
Mr.Man : Yes. But ask him to meet alone. He might come with a backup. He has agreed to the divorce.
Yuri : What? Really?! Why hasn't he texted me yet?!
Mr.Man : Have patience.
Gojo finished typing the last text and locked Jerry's phone and stared at him. Jerry's gaze remained fixed on the floor. Five men surrounded him as he sat in handcuffs.
Gojo kept the phone on the table and pulled a chair to sit opposite to him. He stared at Jerry, the man that he respected like a father, the man that he trusted enough to be around his wife and son, the man that took care of him in the darkest days, but he was no longer any of that. Now, to Gojo, he was the man that tried to kill his wife. When Gojo saw the messages between him and Yuri he wanted to put a bullet through Jerry's brain. But he knew he needed him to reach Yuri.
"Why?". Gojo askedz crossing his one leg over the other and folding his arms over his chest.
Jerry remained silent.
"Why did you try to kill y/n?".
Jerry looked up at him with anger in his eyes. "I didn't try to kill her".
.
.
.
"You drugged her. Knowing well that it could be fatal to her".
"She wouldn't have died. I wouldn't have let her die".
Gojo bit the inside of his cheeks. "Why help Yuri?".
.
.
.
Gojo scoffed at the silence. "I know where your family lives. Your daughter is at Ginza, waiting for her train to Ueno. Your son is 300m away from your home. Your wife is at the neighbor's house and she will be leaving in the next 5 minutes when a man will tell her that her son has been hit by a truck and her daughter fell on the train track. Do you think given her heart condition she would survive the news?". Gojo smirked.
Jerry had tears rolling down his eyes. His chest rose and fell with each breath. "No. You can't hurt my family!". Jerry yelled.
Gojo let out a chuckle. "Are you really in the position to ask for that? Fine. You're right, you have served the Gojo house for a long time and I should honor that. How about…I get you convicted for pedophilia? The word would spread around quickly, I'll make sure of it, your daughter will be ostracized  at the college and your son will probably kill himself. Your wife…dies anyway".
Jerry was sweating and shaking. He hid the details of his family from Gojo and yet he found out. Gojo smiled and got up to get his phone. He stood in front of Jerry and showed him the live video of his family members. The first video was of a man moving through the crowds at the station and standing just behind his daughter. "What are the chances that the safety door in front of your daughter malfunctions and the crowd pushes through?".
Gojo played the second video, it showed another man walking behind his son on the bridge less than 300 m away from his home. "I have heard that this bridge is quite dangerous. You see the speed with which these cars are moving? It would hurt so much if he got hit by one of them".
"Please…not my kids. Please". Jerry begged.
"Hmm okay. I won't kill them. Just injure them enough so they spend their entire life in a wheelchair, unable to talk, walk, react.."
Gojo chuckled and played the third video which showed a man standing outside a neighbor's window and Jerry could see his wife on the couch talking to her friend.
"Imagine when your wife's friend finds out that you are a pedophile! They would be so disgusted".
"No no no. Please". Jerry cried. His tears fell on Gojo's ostrich leather shoes.
Gojo walked back to his chair and assumed the same position. "Then start talking. You have 3 minutes left to save your family".
Jerry shook his head. "I didn't want to hurt Ms.y/n. I didn't. But I couldn't let her stay with you. You don't deserve her! You're just like your father! I…". Jerry paused. "....I couldn't save your mother. I wanted to. I even helped her run away but you monster of a father brought her back!".
Gojo gritted his teeth as he listened to the sick man.
"I loved your mother. I wanted to help her…but I couldn't". Jerry looked up with a frenzied expression. "...Ms.Y/n reminded me so much of your mother. She is kind. A good mother. Doting wife…and you". Jerry's gaze darkened, "…a monster. A selfish man who is only capable of thinking for himself…the day you made her cry, I knew that this time I will save her!".
Gojo swallowed the lump in his throat. "So you tried to kill her?".
"No no no no. I would neve hurt Ms.Y/n. I just wanted you to realize that the life you live puts the life of others at risk".
"You were there with me! You raised me! You out of all the people know what I went through!". Gojo screamed, making Jerry flinch.
"I pitied you as a child. But as you grew up you became his splitting image and as much as I wanted to help you, I felt disgusted by you! You were treating her the same way you dad treated your mother"
"Y/n trusted you. She was the one who suggested that you should be the one to help her with Keisuke".
"I know. I would rather die than let anything happen to Ms.Y/n. That's why when Yuri asked me to kill her, I made this plan. I was going to kill Yuri after you divorced Ms.y/n".
"And then?".
"Then then…I would have asked Ms.Y/n to stay with my family. So I could care for her like she deserved to".
Anger rose inside Gojo. "You're a sick man".
Jerry chuckled. "Love makes us sick, Mr.Gojo. I used to wonder how a man could go insane because of a woman..who was this woman that made the great Gojo Satoru lose his mind. But then…I met her and I got to know her. It all made sense. Anyone would go insane over-".
Gojo stormed out of the room wiping the blood off of his knuckles. People stopped in their trail as they saw him walk past. No one had seen the Ice Prince in the last one month but now he was back. Gojo didn't care if Jerry thought that he was just like his father. Gojo didn't care that Jerry called him a monster, maybe he was a monster. But he loved you. If he was fated to love you as a monster then so be it. He will become the monster that will protect you, avenge you, love you.
Before Jerry could finish a sharp blow landed on his jaw. Jerry fell on the floor with his hand cuffed in front. Gojo grabbed his collar and lifted him off the ground, "That's my wife you're talking about you sick bastard!". Gojo threw him across the room and Jerry's head collided with the wall as he fell on the floor leaving a red streak in the trail. Jerry thought about all the times he saw with Gojo, like you were a happy family when you were nothing but a trophy for him. He remembered when he first heard yours and Gojo's moans mixed together it made him throw up. Gojo didn't deserve a woman like you. Every time he looked at Keisuke he was reminded of the love you had for Gojo and he would have killed Keisuke first if it hadn't been for you. Losing Keisuke would have broken your heart, especially when you risked your life to save his.
Gojo sat on his toes and glared at Jerry. "Did you kill my mother?".
Jerry chuckled, coughing out blood. "I didn't mean to kill her. I just wanted that child of hers to die".
Gojo gritted his teeth. He felt sick. He got up and kicked Jerry in his guts. "You are going to pay for what you did".
He took his phone out and texted Yuri,
Gojo : You win. I have the divorce papers. Where should I meet you?
Yuri stared at the text and bit her nail. She was scared to face Gojo. Maybe she can ask him to drop the papers somewhere. Instead of texting Gojo she texted Jerry.
Yuri : Gojo texted me. Where should I meet him? Does he really have the divorce papers?
Gojo unlocked Jerry's phone with his other hand and replied,
Mr.Man : Call him at the warehouse near the pier. He has the divorce papers.
Yuri : How did y/n even sign it?
Gojo rolled his eyes and huffed.
Mr Man : She was slightly conscious. She doesn't know yet that she had signed the Divorce papers.
Yuri : Serves that bitch right. I'll call him tonight at 12.
Yuri took a deep breath and texted Gojo,
Yuri : warehouse number 12 near the Pier. 12 am.
Gojo : okay.
Yuri : come alone. If I see another guard or officer with you, y/n will be dead before you even reach home.
Gojo looked at her text and chuckled.
Gojo : Okay.
He walked over to where Geto and Yuta were sitting with Keisuke. Yuta gently rocked Keisuke in his arms and walked around the room but as soon as Keisuke saw Gojo he started crying and stretched his hands towards his father. Gojo's icy exterior melted as he smiled sadly and took Keisuke from Yuta's hand. "Thank you for looking after him, Yuta".
"No problem. He seemed to like more than his uncle Geto"
Geto, who was sitting cross legged, rolled his eyes. "He would only calm down with Yuta".
Gojo chuckled and rubbed Keisuke's back. He immediately calmed down as soon as he took in the scent of his father. Gojo kissed the back of his head as he sniffled. "Any update on y/n?".
Geto and Yuta shook their heads.
"I called Shoko and she said y/n might be unconscious for the next 12 hours. Something about her body needing time to recover. They are changing her drop every hour".
Gojo nodded his head. "Can I go see her?".
Geto and Yuta exchanged looks, Yuta hesitated but spoke first, "Ms.Shoko didn't say you can't but she didn't say you can either..so I guess you can".
Gojo handed both the phones to Geto, "I'm meeting her at 12 tonight. Yuta go through the texts and see if we can find anything else on her".
Gojo rubbed Keisuke's back and walked inside the guest bedroom where you were lying unconscious.
He let out a shuddered breath as he saw you lying still with tubes going into your arms. Your face pale like a ghost, cheeks sunken in, he swallowed his tears as he moved slowly towards your bed.
"Hi, love".
Keisuke turned around at the mention of your nickname and moved in Gojo's arm, stretching his arms towards you. "No baby. Mumma is sleeping". Gojo gently put his arms down but Keisuke fussed in his arms and continued to get out of his grasp and into his mother's.
Gojo kneeled by the bed and gently put Keisuke next to you. Keisuke stretched his arm out and grabbed your dress and tugged it to have you turn and face him. Gojo pressed his lips together and hung his head low as he let out a silent cry. How can he explain to Keisuke that you can't play with him now? If anything were to happen to you how can he explain to him why his mother is not there with him? He prayed to God that if he wants a life then he will hand over his only for you to live. Gojo cried as he watched Keisuke pout trying to get you to turn to him. He sucked in a sharp breath and mustered his strength. He had to be strong for him. When you wake up, you will be so proud of him for being a good father. A strong father.
"Mumma's sleeping. You want to give her a kiss?". Gojo asked and picked up Keisuke so he could softly kiss your cheek. Keisuke tried to grab your face but Gojo picked him up immediately "no no no. We can't disturb mama".. Gojo leaned down and kissed your forehead softly, "By the time you wake up, this will all be over. I promise".
Keisuke cried as he hopped in Gojo's arms to be free and lie next to you. It didn't make sense to him as to why his mother won't play with him? Why won't she hold him? Why won't she feed him?
Gojo walked out before Keisuke's cry could disturb you. "It's okay baby. She will be up soon. Then we'll all stay in bed all day". Gojo cooed as he rocked Keisuke gently.
It was around his dinner time so Gojo walked straight to the kitchen, he tried to prepare the formula while carrying Keisuke in the baby carrier.  It was evident that Keisuke missed his mother as he would start wailing every half hour. Gojo struggled to make a formula while talking to Keisuke at the same time. He was too scared to let anyone either hold his baby or make his food. He could only trust himself. A task that usually takes about ten minutes took him 30 minutes to complete. Gojo sat down on a couch, draped a towel over his shoulder and held Keisuke in his arms as he tried to feed him with the bottle. But Keisuke refused and continued to cry. Gojo sighed and looked around the empty kitchen. He didn't know what to do. He had tears rolling down his cheeks.
His wife was unconscious, his baby was crying and he didn't know what to do. But then, like a message, he remembered your advice. Gojo carried Keisuke and the bottle to yours and his empty bedroom and sat down on the bed. He put Keisuke on the bed gently and ran inside the wardrobe to fetch your cardigan that you were wearing this morning.
"A baby recognises the mother by scent". Your words rang in his ear. He wrapped your cardigan around his arm and went back to hold Keisuke. Almost like magic, Keisuke stopped crying immediately. He sucked on the bottle gently and looked up at Gojo with wide blue eyes.
Gojo chuckled, "you're a mama's boy". Gojo shook Mr.Carrot above gently and continued to talk to Keisuke while he drank. When he was done Gojo put the cardigan on his shoulder and Keisuke smiled when he put his head on the cardigan. Gojo breathed a sigh of relief as Keisuke burped twice and dozed off happily.
Gojo walked around the bedroom with Keisuke in his arms. He thought about his own childhood, how when his mother had run away his father did not even bother to check on him. If it wasn't for the help he would have gone to bed starving.  He would never let Keisuke feel that way. In a way he was glad that Keisuke is too young to remember any of this.
Shoko stood by the door and gestured to him to come out. Gojo walked out and gestured to her to be quiet as Keisuke was asleep. Shoko simply rolled her eyes.
"Is everything okay?". Gojo whispered.
Shoko nodded her head. "Y/n's vitals are fine. I am here to look after my godson". She nudged her chin towards Keisuke.
Gojo smiled. It was a relief that he had someone he could trust to look after Keisuke as he goes after Yuri.  "Thank you".
Geto walked in with his hands in his pocket and smiled at Gojo. "Looks like he is finally asleep". He whispered.
"Yeah. It was quite hard".
"I am looking after him so you two be safe out there". Shoko said as she gently took Keisuke from Gojo's arm. Keisuke, wrapped in your cardigan, cooed in his sleep and grabbed her hair strand. Shoko remained still for a moment. She has always been the stoic one, the sassy one, but now as she held Keisuke in her arms she glared at the two men in front of her. "If anything happens to this baby I will burn this world down with my lighter".
Gojo chuckled and nodded. He leaned in and kissed the top of Keisuke's head and when he pulled back Geto leaned in and kissed the top of Shoko'a head. "a kiss for my baby".
"Thanks". Gojo smiled at Shoko.
"If you do something stupid I will steal your baby".
Gojo chuckled and nodded. In her own twisted way it was Shoko's way of saying she wanted him to be safe and that she loved Keisuke.
"Do I really need this?". Gojo asked, holding the bulletproof jacket in his hand.
Geto fastened the jacket over his black shirt and tied his hair in a neat bun.
"Obviously! Y/n would kill me if anything happened to you!".
Gojo chuckled and took his shirt off to put on the jacket. It was better if Yuri didn't know that he was prepared. He felt like he was going on one final battle of his  life and on the other side a good life awaited him.
He buttoned his shirt and turned towards Geto, “Hey..”.
Geto, who was tying his shoelaces, looked up at him and crooked a brow.
“If things go south and if anything were to happen to me..there is a letter for y/n in the first drawer of my desk, give it to her”.
Geto chuckled, “Fuck off”.
-X-
Gojo had never felt so sure of his destiny. But now he knew. He knew as he kissed you and whispered his promise in your ear. He knew as he checked his gun. He knew as he walked out of the estate with Geto. He knew as he drove his black lamborghini huracan.
He stopped the car at a distance from the warehouse. He stared at the silver band on his finger. There was no set plan to follow. There was nothing to talk about. He got out of the car and glanced at a distance where Geto’s car was ready with the back up. He grabbed the papers and made his way towards the warehouse.
Yuri paced around the warehouse. She had kept it simple, at least tried to. A metal table at the center. Two chairs on either side. She had tried to keep her attire simple but sexy. Leather pants and a leather corset top. He knew Gojo hated loud makeup and stuck to her no-makeup makeup look. Her heels clanked on the ground as she paced from one end to the other. Jerry had texted her a while back, assuring her that Gojo had left alone.
Yuri stilled as she heard the approaching footsteps. She went and sat on one end of the metal table with her legs crossed, like a tigress waiting to pounce on her prey. The rolling doc doors opened, revealing a silhouette of a man. Yuri recognized Gojo right away. Gojo stepped in and the doors closed behind him.
Yuri took in a deep breath and shifted in her seat as Gojo walked towards her. Her breath hitched when his face became visible. Sunken red eyes, disheveled hair, tense jaw, arms flexing by his side.
Gojo didn’t say anything. He walked over and sat on the other side of the table.
“Hello, Satoru”.
“Hello, Yuri”.
“I’m sorry to have done this to you. I hope you know that I didn’t mean to hurt you”. Yuri spoke softly. “None of this was meant to hurt you”.
Gojo smiled. He wanted to get up and bash her head against the metal table but he held his ground. “It’s alright. It was best for both of us anyway. Y/n does not fit in my life”.
Yuri smiled, ear to ear. “Exactly! That’s exactly what I wanted you to see!”. Yuri took a breath of relief and relaxed in her seat.
Gojo smiled and nodded. “How did you get Hiro’s video?”.
Yuri chuckled. “Satoru..you are too innocent for this world! You see, I knew you way before Geto introduced me to you. Or should I say I introduced myself to Geto”. Yuri laughed.
“What do you mean?” Gojo asked. Trying his best to keep his demeanor pleasant enough.
Yuri took a deep breath. "You see.. I saw you for the first time the day you killed Naoya Zenin. I didn't even have to ask around much to find out about the history between the two of you". Yuri chuckled. "I just knew I wanted to be with you. You were strong, so sure of yourself. But I couldn't just approach you right?".
"Right…".
"With Naoya's death the clan was in pieces and I gathered all the important information I could. That's where I found the security footage of his townhouse and I was going to delete it. It seemed useless until I saw your face in one of those. So I kept it with me. I didn't know who Hiro or y/n were but I knew who you were".
Gojo stared at her blankly. "So you used the information you had on Zenin to gain Geto's trust?".
"Bingo! When I saw what you had become it broke my heart. I thought to myself whoever this dead woman was, she should not have this hold on you! But it turns out the dead woman was alive!!!!". Yuri threw her head back and laughed.
Gojo didn't want to hear your name from her mouth anymore. "Give me Hiro's video and I'll give you the divorce papers".
Yuri took out a phone and played the video for Gojo. "There you go". She slid the phone across the table. Gojo picked up the phone and sent the video to Geto, as a backup and to let him know that it was time to move.
He smiled and slid the papers across the table to Yuri. Yuri grinned and picked up the stack of papers. She flipped and her smile dropped and pulse picked up. These were not divorce papers. They were photos of Jerry, handcuffed and tied to a chair. Yuri blinked and looked at Gojo who was smiling at her.
"You made a huge mistake going after y/n".
"I…I…Satoru…Satoru..I..". She fumbled with the words and stood up immediately letting the metal chair fall to the floor. "..nno…this was all his idea!". She yelled, pointing at the photo of Jerry.
Gojo smiled and stood up with his hands in his pocket. He took out Jerry's phone and tossed it on the table. "Regardless of whose idea it was…". He walked around the table and Yuri took a step back for every step towards her. "...you should not have even thought about hurting my y/n".
Yuri trembled with fear. "I didn't want to! I swear I didn't want to hurt her!".
Gojo pouted and bent down to her eye level, "Right, you wanted to …kill her. You wanted to kill my y/n".
Yuri shook her head and stepped back. "No no no I…I didn't. You…you can take the video. I…I swear I won't ever hurt her again…please…please let me go". Yuri fell to her knees and begged.
Gojo sat on his toes and cooed at her. "Come now Yuri…where did your confidence go?".
"Please Satoru…please…don't kill me".
"Kill you?". Gojo clicked his tongue. "Why will I kill you? You didn't kill my y/n did you?".
"No no I didn't!". Yuri shook her head and swallows her tears.
"Exactly..you hurt her!" Gojo grinned in her face. "So now I will hurt you". Gojo said, pushing her forehead back with his index finger. He stood up and walked over to the table and pressed the button opening the rolling doors. "You're terrified of water right?". Gojo asked, tilting his head.
"Satoru please! No no! I saved your life! Do you not remember any of that?".
Gojo's smile dropped, "You're right". He said glaring at her. "You saved me. Then you drugged me. I can still forgive that. But you hurt y/n. I will never forgive you for that". He smiled as men rushed around him and stood in a semi circle around Yuri.
"As much as you love surprises, let me tell you what's going to happen to you. I owe you that much". Gojo cracked his knuckles and stretched his neck. "You are going to be taken to the middle of the sea. Then your arms and legs will be tied and you will drown in a metal cage…not killed. Of course not killed. I cannot kill someone who saved my life right?". Gojo shrugged.
Yuri stood up with trembling legs. She regretted telling Gojo about her worst fears.
"And this will continue the entire night, or till my y/n wakes up. Whichever comes later. Then you'd be given a choice…to either shoot yourself in the head or drown to death".
Before Gojo could turn and walk away, Yuri grabbed a gun from the holster of the man standing to her right and fired in Gojo's direction.
As soon as the noise rang every gun around her was pointed in her direction. Gojo stared at her blankly. His right hand went over to the left bicep and touched the wound. Gojo brought his hand forward and looked at the red coating his fingers. "You missed". He smirked devilishly. Yuri watched in horror as her shot missed the mark. Bullet that was aimed for his heart simply scratched his bicep. A wound that would recover in a few hours.
"You know salt water really stings on wounds? How about a wound for a wound?". Gojo smirked and took out his pocket knife. He held Yuri's trembling hands and made a long diagonal cut on both of her palms.
"That should do. Enjoy your night Yuri. It's your last one". Gojo winked and walked away as Yuri's screams faded in the background.
Gojo sat at the back seat of the G wagon  with doors open as a medic patched his wound. Geto, who stood outside, glared at him with his arms folded over his chest.
"Fine you were right! I am glad I listened to you and wore the vest!".
Geto shook his head and lit a cigarette. The air was cool and this wasn't their first post fight banter. He watched as the men took Yuri away in a blacked out car at a distance.
"Why drowning?". Geto asked, staring at her flailing silhouette.
Gojo chuckled, "Because it's her worst fear. She can't swim and has been terrified of the open waters since she was a kid".
Geto nodded his head. It was fair game. She played with Gojo's worst fear and he played with hers.
"Any news on y/n?". Gojo asked.
Geto shook his head. "Shoko said she's stable and Keisuke has been sleeping well".
The medic was done wrapping a bandage around his bicep and Gojo got out of the car and stood next to Geto.
"Does it hurt?". Geto asked.
"Why? Are you going to kiss it?".
"Do you want me to?". Geto smiled and looked at Gojo through the corners of his eyes.
The van carrying Yuri went past them and Gojo finally felt free.
"How are you going to show y/n the video?".
Gojo sighed. "Maybe when she is awake and a bit more stable, I will tell her that you helped me find the video and that can also help justify your interrogation".
"I owe her an apology".
"She'll understand".
Gojo checked his watch, it was 2 am. "We should head home".

Yuri screamed and shouted as the guards locked her in a 6ft metal cage. By the time the cage was suspended in the air above the vast black ocean, she had accepted her fate. These men won't listen to her. She offered them money, sex, power but they wouldn't dare go against Gojo Satoru.
"Oh god of god of god". She muttered as the cage was slowly lowered to the ocean. She closed her eyes and held her breath as it completely submerged in the dark water. She flailed around in the cage like a fish. Her lungs burned and the scars on her palm stung badly. As soon as she thought she was going to drown the cage was lifted  in the air. She fell on her knees and coughed out the salty water. Her wounds burned even more now as she tried to wipe them on her pants.  She hissed and cried but her eyes burned with every tear that rolled down her cheeks..this was worse than hell and it was only the beginning of her long night.
As soon as she caught her breath the cage was dropped in the ocean again. Unlike last time when she was given a moment to catch her breath, this time the impact had her screaming under water. She grabbed on the rails on the roof of the cage and tried her best to stay above water but her palms hurt so bad that she immediately let go of the rods and floated in the cage, screaming, crying. Once again, as soon as water began to fill her lungs, she was brought up again.
The cage was brought up and Yuri looked down at the vast black ocean. Open water bodies terrified her but open water bodies at night was a whole other ballgame. She felt dizzy and disoriented. All she could taste was salt. All she felt was pain.
She remembered Gojo's words, "Don't worry Yuri. When you reach hell, the devil will pity you". Yuri smiled. Gojo always stood by his words. She looked up at the sky and prayed to fall unconscious so she wouldn't have to feel anything. Ironic, she thought to herself, how she wanted your fate right now. She laughed and then the cage fell again….

As soon as Gojo reached home he rushed through the doors to see you. It was around 3:00 am and though he was tired, mentally and physically he needed you. He was hoping that when he sees you you'd be up and waiting for him to get into bed but as soon as he reached your room, his heart fell.
You were still asleep.
He walked silently and kneeled by your bed and held your hand gently. "It's over. It's all over". He kissed your knuckles and smiled.
"When you wake up, you'll be in a new world. Where we will live happily. I have so much to tell you but all of that can wait. We have all the time in the world now". He kissed your cheeks and whispered three little words that he hoped you'd hear.
"Satoru?". Geto called out in a whisper, standing at the doorway.
Gojo kissed your forehead and walked out.
"Did Yuri tell you anything about how she got the video?". Geto asked.
Gojo walked alongside him with his hands in his pocket, "She used to work for Zenins and when Naoya was gone, she stole information from them to gain our trust. Somewhere in that pile of information she found the video…pure stroke of luck".
Geto cursed himself for not running a thorough background check on her. Had he known she had worked for Zenins he would have never employed her. How could he let that go under his radar?
"Drop it already, will you? It's not your fault".
Geto nodded.
"Why don't you and Shoko take the guest room? It's been a long day and I am sure she's tired too".
Geto smiled and nodded his head. He too was tired from everything that had happened. His added guilt only amplified his need for a good sleep.
-X-
You let out a heavy breath and suddenly were conscious of every muscle in your body. You felt awake but in a dream. Your arms felt heavy by your side. Your legs felt heavy. Your head felt heavy. You tried to raise your hand but could only manage to twitch your fingers. Was it night? Was it noon? Where was Keisuke? Where was Satoru? You opened your eyes slowly and saw the darkness around you. Something was attached to your arm, you moved your eyes to the side and saw a tune going into your wrist. Then it all clicked.
Your heartbeat picked up, you remembered feeling dizzy, you remembered calling for Jerry but you didn't remember whether he came or not. Shit did you faint with Keisuke in your arms? Did you hurt him? Was he okay? You tried to call for help but your throat felt painfully dry.
"..toru". You managed to whisper. Your vision was still clouded and the lack of visible light only added to your paranoia.
You took a deep breath and swallowed painfully to muster up courage to call for help.
"Satoru!". You managed to call in a hoarse voice.
You felt someone's hand on yours. You looked down and saw the tuft of Arctic hair. You smiled. Of course he was here.
"Satoru..". You called with tears rolling down your cheeks.
Gojo woke up with a jerk. He heard you call for him. He looked up and before the single tear could reach your jaw he was on his feet and leaning over you. "I'm here. I'm right here, love!".
Gojo pressed the button and was about to run out to get help but your feather light grip on his band stopped him.
"Stay". You whispered and Gojo relaxed.
"You're alright. Everything is fine". He assured you as he kissed your forehead.
"Ke.. Keisuke..".
"He's fine. He is sleeping right now. He's fine. You're both fine".
You smiled as you let out a sob.
The nurses rushed in and Gojo kneeled  on the other side of your bed and held your free hand. "It's going to be alright". He assured you again.
A part of you felt like he was assuring himself. Like he was trying to convince himself that you were alright.
Shoko walked in rubbing her face and stood by your side and smiled. "This is not the reunion I had expected but good to see you y/n".
You smiled. "Can't…move".
Shoko smiled. "It's alright. You have just woken up and the dose I gave you was quite high. It'll take some time". She sat down on the chair Gojo had been on and checked your pulse. "Low but good". She stood up and gently helped you sit up slightly.
She helped you drink water with a sipper and wiped your face with the towel that Gojo handed her.
"What happened?". You asked meekly. Your voice lacked strength but at least you were able to talk now.
Shoko and Gojo exchanged looks and before Gojo could start she turned towards you and smiled. "You fainted. But luckily we were able to get you the help that you needed and you are stable now".
You frowned at her. "I..took meds".
Shoko's smile dropped and it concerned you. "Someone…Jerry switched your meds".
You tilted your head to register to what she just said. Jerry switched your meds? Was she talking about the same Jerry? You turned your head towards Gojo and his guilt ridden face confirmed your suspicion.
Gojo turned to Shoko, "Can I talk to her alone?".
Shoko nodded and got up. "Call for me if you need anything".
You turned to Gojo and fear in your eyes made his heart drop to his stomach. Gojo held your hand with both of his and explained everything that conspired in the past 24 hours. You listened with your heart on the edge as Gojo showed you the texts between him and Yuri.
Anger rose inside of you when you saw the video but it was soon replaced by sadness knowing that Gojo was in such a state where people like Yuri took advantage of him. Yet here he was, more worried about you than what could have happened with him. You wanted him to be angry for himself but instead he was worried about how you'd look at him.
Anger rose inside of you when he showed you Hiro's video. How could you let that happen? Had you stayed for a minute more then Gojo would have witnessed the birth of his son. You were angry at Hiro for taking this one thing away from you. Sure he wanted Gojo to suffer but what about you? What did you do to deserve not having the love of your life by your side? How could Hiro disregard your feelings? You were thankful to him for giving you an escape but did you even need one? You needed to have Satoru by your side. You needed a peaceful sleep. You needed to feel loved. You needed to hold Gojo's hand when you thought you were dying…and Hiro took all of that away from you.You sobbed as the video finished playing. "I'm so sorry". You sobbed in your hand. "Oh god…what  have I done….I'm so so sorry".
Gojo stood up and wrapped his arms around you as he let you sob in his chest. "It's not your fault y/n. It's not your fault". Gojo let out a shuddered breath when he felt your body tremble in his arms. He sat down on the bed and rested your head on his chest. "It's going to be fine. We are going to be fine. Breathe, please".
"No no no no…I…I'm so sorry". You clenched his shirt in your hand. “I..shouldn't have listened to Hiro…I..Oh god..I’m so sorry Satoru. I..I am so sorry”
"No love. You have nothing to apologize for. You did what was best for you and our son. You did a good job".
You looked at him, “But…you..you couldn’t be there because of..If only I would have stayed for a minute longer..”.
“Y/n…You didn't do it with the intention fo hurting me, okay? You were just protecting yourself and our son”
"What about Jerry? I let a man like that near Keisuke and …if only I hadn't…".
"No no no. It's not your fault that people are bad".
"Satoru , he could have hurt Keisuke…oh god ..He could have hurt my baby!".
Gojo sighed. "It's my fault y/n. I told you I'd take care of you and Keisuke and I…couldn't".
"It's not. You did everything right. It just happened to be Jerry. Nobody …could have expected it”.
Gojo kissed your head. "Okay".
"Where is…Jerry?".
You closed your eyes, and Gojo cupped your face with one hand and wiped the tears off your face.
"Why didn't you tell me about this? I would have believed you".
Gojo was at a loss of words. He looked down, ashamed and shook his head. "What was I supposed to tell you? I know the look on your eyes y/n. You love me but I know a part of you is also scared. I see that. I wanted to tell you about Hiro but I had no memory of that video. I ...I told you there was nothing between Yuri and I and then....this...I couldn't do that to you. I couldn't let you go"
You looked down. You had been too harsh on him and you felt bad for making him feel that he had to hide things from you and Jerry used it against him. He knew Gojo would not confess to you. He knew Gojo would be scared of the video and that's why they sent both the videos together. You were so angry at everyone for hurting him.
Gojo shook his head, "You don't have to see him, love".
"I just… How could he even think when you would be anything like your father when he has practically raised you? Satoru, you are nothing like your father…You are kind and attentive and you always prioritize us over your work …. Keisuke is so lucky to have a father like you…I am lucky to have a son with you".
Gojo looked at you and smiled sadly, “Do you mean it? Really mean it?”
“Yes!”. You said, immediately. “I mean it with every fiber of my body”.
“Thank you”. Gojo kissed the side of your head.
“I hope Jerry rots in hell for everything he has made you and Keisuke go through”.
Gojo smirked, "As you wish".
"And Yuri too..but where is Yuri?".
Gojo took a deep breath, "She's there. Do you want her to live?".
You remained silent. You didn't know whether you had it in you to kill someone. But Yuri threatened your son, drugged Satoru…"No. I don't think she deserves to live".
"Okay".
Your eyes drifted to the white band under his shirt. You sat upright and touched it gently. "What happened?". You looked at Gojo.
He sighed. "It's nothing"
"It doesn't look like it's nothing. What happened, Satoru?".
"Y/n ..You need to rest right now".
"No…no I need to know what happened to you?".
Gojo sucked in a sharp breath. "Yuri…. shot me".
Your mouth hung open as you tried to get up but Gojo put his hand on your shoulder and calmed you down "What…what do you mean she shot you? …why are you not in a hospital?".
Gojo smiled sadly and pulled you into him."Because it wasn't serious and I wanted to spend time with my wife".
"Satoru…it’s not ..corny. It can be serious and It can get infected or something". You glared at him.
Gojo smiled. It was adorable how your knowledge of getting shot comes from movies and his’  comes from his experience.."Y/n…It's just a scratch.I am more than fine. I'm here and you're here and that's all that matters".
You shook your head disapprovingly. What happened to all the safety and security when he was almost shot? “No no. You should still get it checked once again”.
“Okay, I will but not now. I need to be with you now”. He grinned.
"Did you have a hard time with Keisuke?". You asked, trying to lighten the mood.
Gojo took a deep breath and thought about how he had never seen Keisuke cry this much. How clueless he felt every moment you were not around. "He missed his mom for sure".
"Did you feed him?".
"Yes".
"Did you bathe him?".
"No. He was too fussy and I didn't want to risk it".
"Where is he now?".
"With Suguru"
You breathed a sigh of relief.
“Are you mad at Suguru?:. Gojo asked.
“No. I understand now. I am glad you had him”.
You yawned and groaned, feeling the tiredness creep in.
"You should sleep now y/n. It's been a tough day". Gojo got off the bed and helped you lie down. He pulled the duvet and tucked you in how you do for Keisuke.
"Can you…. stay with me? …..Please?". You bit your lip nervously. After hearing everything that happened while you were unconscious a part of you was scared to be without Gojo. You needed him to feel secure. You needed him to tether you to reality and save you from spiraling into your what ifs.
Gojo nodded "Of course I will", and got in bed with you. He winced as he lay on the arm that was injured and you glared at him. "just a scratch?".
Gojo smiled and rubbed your back. "Yes, love. Just a scratch".
-X-
When you woke up again you were no longer ridden with anxiety. Instead you felt even more relaxed when you saw Gojo walking around the bedroom with Keisuke in his arms.
"Good morning". You said, sweetly.
As soon as Gojo turned towards you Keisuke started crying and stretching his arms out to you. Gojo brought him to you immediately and you took him in your arms.
"Did you miss me, munchkin? Sorry mummy took a long nap". You cooed as you wiped his tears. Keisuke buried his head in the crook of your neck and wrapped his tiny fingers tightly  around your necklace. His wailing stopped the moment you kissed his chubby cheeks. "I'm so sorry. I promise I'll never leave you again". You kissed his head as he sniffled. You peppered kisses on his face and it made him relax in your arms. "Were you a good boy? Did you give daddy a hard time?"
"Did he give you a hard time?". You asked, looking at Gojo.
Gojo sat down next to you and stretched his legs, wrapping one arm around you and resting the other one on your lap. "Not at all. But he missed you. I was so scared for him. I couldn't even explain anything to him".
You smiled sadly and pecked Gojo on the lips. "You did a great job".
"You think so? It took me over 30 minutes to make the formula".
You chuckled at him. Sure that was surprising but you didn't blame him. "That's alright. You still did a good job". You understood that it wasn't easy to take care of a baby when everyone around you was a possible threat, when your wife was lying unconscious, and there was a psychopath out to get you.
"I'll call Shoko. You still look weak".
You kept your hand over his and looked at him pleadingly, "Few more minutes.. please".
Gojo smiled and sat back down pulling you into him.
You rested your head on his chest, brought his hand up and kissed his scarred knuckles. You felt safe in his arms. Somewhere in your heart the last crack closed up and you finally…after four years…felt like you were home.

1st August,
You stared at yourself in the full length mirror and smiled. You looked like those dolls on top of the wedding cake. The lace veil draped behind you and the white silk gown fit you like a glove. The diamond earring that Gojo sent for you this morning casted a kaleidoscope  pattern on your collarbone. Your eyes drifted towards the calendar on the wall. August 1st. The weather outside wasn't gloomy. It was surprisingly pleasant. Not too windy, not too sunny. Gojo had wanted a grand wedding but you insisted that you get married in the lawns of the estate that you had spent months taking care of. You didn't want a grand ceremony. You wanted to get married at a place that you called home.
Contrary to advice of the wedding planner, you had decided to do your hair and make-up yourself with help from Shoko. You wanted to keep it all very minimal. You looked at your hands and smiled at the imperfect white nailpolish painted by Gojo. He wanted to add his own touch to your look and you couldn't say no.
You picked up the sapphire brooch and pinned it on your left, your something blue belonged to Gojo's mother. Your something old was your own mother's hairpin that you had treasured for years. You wondered if your parents were her would they be happy? You hope that wherever they were, they were smiling for you.
You needed this time alone in your bridal suite to gather your nerves. The last few months passed by like a gust of wind. Keisuke was not almost 7 months old and Satoru decided that it was the right to get married for the second time…or third. Though you didn't demand for one as you were already officially married, Gojo insisted that you have a ceremony. You agreed.
Though he didn't need to propose, Gojo still went on a knee when the three of you took your first family vacation to Ginzan Onsen. It was your Ghibli dream come true and you said yes to the ring once again. You still remembered being so in love as you walked along the streets with Gojo’s one hand in yours and the other pushing the stroller. You were no longer with Gojo because you had to be. You were here because you wanted to be. You wanted to welcome him home and make his lunches. You wanted to write notes for him and pack it in a bento box. There was something adorable about the most feared man in Tokyo blushing over a note in his bento box.
Now you stood here, on the 1st of August, thinking about how a year ago you were pregnant with Keisuke and had just found out about the risks of pregnancy. In the August before that you were sitting in a bus, on the way to the office where the love of your life was engaged to another woman. Now you are about to get married to the man you love .Funny how life changes in three Augusts.
As you walked down the aisle with Mr.Itadori on your right  and Mrs.Itadori on your left , with your bouquet of orchids in your hand, you saw the man you had loved for the last five Augusts stand on the other end. Everyone was looking at you and you were sure you should have acknowledged them and smiled at them but you couldn't tear your eyes off of the man in the deep blue tuxedo. Handsome as ever.
Gojo felt like someone punched the air out of his lungs as soon as he saw the doors open. The wedding march faded in the background and his world stopped moving. This is what he lived for. Everything that he had endured till now led up to this moment and he would do it all again just to see you smile at him as you walked down the aisle. You were his sun, his moon, his star.
“You look beautiful”.
“Thank You”. You smiled and took his hand.
Gojo had boasted that he would not be the one to get emotional but here he was, fighting his tears as he read his vows. He lost the battle when you read yours and you chuckled as you wiped the tear off of his face. You cried a little too when he kissed you. But Gojo was quick to wipe it away with his thumb.
Geto stood next to Gojo with Keisuke, in a matching blue tuxedo, in his arms. He looked at Shoko and they exchanged smiles.
Instead of a flower girl you had Yuri happily scattering flowers for you. It was  surprising how quickly he bonded with Satoru. During the reception Yuji ran up to you and introduced you to another kid, who Yuji claimed to be his best friend even though they had met an hour  ago. Megumi, whom you recognized to be Toji’s son. He seemed like a quiet kid, opposite Yuji. You  smiled and patted both of their heads as they ran away hand in hand. You turned and continued to talk to the man who was taking over part of Gojo’s business so Gojo could spend more time with you. Nanami Kento. Few minutes later you saw Megumi and Yuji being scolded by a girl, about their age, and smiled. You wished that these three retain their youthfulness even when they grow up.
Months later when you and Gojo took Keisuke to Gyoen park. The lake smiled. Years ago two hearts broke by its shore and now they had found their way to each other like waves to shore. Gojo smiled as he saw you show different flowers to Keisuke. It was surprising that his first word was "addada" and Gojo rubbed it in your face for weeks. He claimed that he had won the bet but you only rolled your eyes at him. Even now as you point to a flower Keisuke looks at Gojo and calls him in a come here motion. "Addada", Gojo gave you a smug grin, reminding you that he had won the bet. Gojo smiled and walked to his son. In that moment Gojo was grateful that he never stopped fighting for you. If there was anything worth fighting for in this world, to him it was you.

living high until that fatal day

a/n: i never do this. literally, never. when i'm not here i'm writing stuff that's not x reader for ao3 and this is a fic i posted over there. it's a time loop story about joel and ellie. @bageldaddy told me i had to post it here. without her this fic would not exist. thank you so much, bea. so, here we go. if you read it, thank you. let me know what you think. joel miller & ellie williams gen fic. 7.5k words warnings: Time Loop, Fluff and Angst, Angst with a Happy Ending, kind of???, it resolves, Suicide, only in one of the loops!, Canon-Typical Violence, joel gets stuck and has to figure it out, Father-Daughter Relationship, thoughts about sacrifice and love, POV Joel, mostly, this one is kind of intense folks, major character death tag is cause well the loop ends one way or another, gonna diverge at the end, but it ends well!!! i promise, also this is pretty firmly game but hbo folks should be okay!
summary: joel finds himself stuck in a time loop of that day in salt lake city.
Joel lies to her.
He's got dried blood under his fingernails and his shoulder aches from the kick of the rifle and he's so, so tired.
But he lies to her.
If he was a smarter man he'd have thought of something better. Told her that the hospital got raided or they had a FEDRA mole, how the whole thing was a sham from the start. He doesn't know if she was awake for any of it. If the last thing she remembers is him reaching for her and failing to save her. If she remembers what it feels like to drown.
It's hard to look at her in the mirror but he manages. Just keep driving, hands tight on the wheel. Don't white knuckle, don't spook her. She's in the car. She's safe. He did it.
"We found the Fireflies," he says. She doesn't look at him. "Turns out there's a...a whole lot more like you, Ellie. People that're immune. It's dozens, actually."
There's a strange pull in his gut, a pull that he's felt a few times before in the moments before everything went south. When the soldier pointed his gun by the river, when Tess looked at him on her last day, when he fell off the ledge in Colorado. But he ignores it.
"Ain't done a damn bit of good, either. They've actually st--" Ellie closes her eyes, takes a deep breath. She doesn't look at him. "They've stopped looking for a cure. I'm takin' us home. I'm sorry."
She turns her back to him and the pull becomes a burn, becomes a black hole under his ribcage taking everything with him. He blinks once, twice, wonders if he got shot and didn't notice, if he cracked a rib and it punctured his lung, if --
The road in front of him disappears.
He can't see a damn thing -- not like the lights went out, like there is nothing to see. There is nothing in front of him at all.
Then, Joel wakes up yesterday.
___
He jolts awake with a strangled yell. Ellie kneels over him, the rifle he taught her to hold slung over her shoulder. It's just past dawn based on the color of the sky and how he can make out most of her face, her withdrawing hand and her unimpressed but slightly concerned frown.
"You were talking again," Ellie says. "Nightmares?"
Joel tears his eyes from her and thunks his head back down on his crumpled up jacket. The trees stretch high above him and he tries to get it together so he doesn't spook her.
They’re camped within sight of the highway. Salt Lake City has been looming for days now and Joel doesn't want to take any chances. The ring-road is almost clear, dotted here and there with cars and a fair amount of supplies, enough that Joel suspects people haven't been here for some time. If this is another Colorado State situation, he's going to have to put Ellie in a car and take them back to Jackson before she does something stupid.
She's fine. Well, no, not quite. Things aren't the same and they never will be but he can tell she's doing her best and he won't ask more than that. Their pace has slowed this week and he's having a hard time figuring out if she's sliding back into some sort of post-Colorado haze or if she's nervous about actually arriving in Salt Lake.
God knows he's nervous as hell.
But every day she'll walk as far as he tells her to and won't complain. He knows she wants to get there. They have to get there and it has to work -- because he doesn't know what they're going to do otherwise.
She asked him a question. Nightmares. Joel sits up and drags his hand down his face.
"Somethin' like that."
Ellie shrugs and starts to clean up their camp now that he's awake. He still hates letting her take watch, but she needs to feel in control of things, so they split it most nights. She hums a little bit as she works and he has hopes that today might be a good day.
But that dream... It comes back in flashes: the giraffes, the tunnel. Ellie hanging from the side of the bus because she jumped to save him, her small frame sinking slowly, just out of reach. The crack of her ribs underneath his hands. The hospital. The Fireflies.
Joel gets up, rolls his shoulder at a phantom pain and looks down at his hands. Crusted with dirt and nothing more.
Jesus Christ. He's losing it.
They set off.
The blue hospital sign seems to shine in the spring sun all too soon.
"This is where we get off. Let's go, kiddo."
Joel talks even though he knows she's not listening. He talks to take his mind off of the echo that sits at the base of his neck with every step. Has he told her he'll teach her guitar before? He's been thinking it for months.
Ellie trails behind him, kicking rocks and half-heartedly searching cars when he asks her to. She heads for a faded blue sedan but he stops her.
"Blue one won't open, don't bother."
The look she gives him makes him think about what he just said. "How do you know that?"
He blinks. How does he know that? Before he can explain it, Ellie shrugs and keeps walking.
The disinterest is new and it doesn't sit well with him. She's been through a lot, more than any kid deserves, and they're almost there. He figures it's worse today because of that.
"I dreamt about flying the other night."
Joel's stomach twists. "Oh, yeah?"
"Yeah."
"Go on, tell me about it."
She tells him about her dream, about how it felt to fly and then fall, and he is dizzy with deja vu.
"I've never been on a plane." Ellie looks at him like he can tell her what it means. Like he has any damn answers at all. "Isn't that weird?"
Joel hums and swallows the lump in his throat. The bus terminal. Ellie, drowning. Firefly after Firefly in his path. His hands flex around a gun that isn't there.
"Well, you know. Dreams are weird." It tastes like a lie in his mouth but he can't figure out why.
It gets worse when they find the bus station, when she runs off in search of something that's got her smiling. Her small hand reaches for the giraffe, her eyes bright, but Joel feels like he's watching it through a fog. He knows what she's going to say before she says it.
"So fucking cool."
Joel has seen a lot of weird shit in his life but whatever is happening here is leagues above the rest. It bumps up against something in his brain, like the answer is just out of reach but he can't fucking get there. Always a step behind when it counts.
Ellie hands him a picture of his dead daughter and something in him comes dangerously close to snapping. Instead of gratitude or sorrow or anything that would make sense, he's terrified.
He's fucking terrified because this happened. Which means he knows what comes next.
But there's no time to worry about it. They pick their way through the tunnel, through the runners and the clickers and the fucking bloaters. The pressure on his neck gets heavier, gets almost unbearable. He's strung tighter than he's been in years, like the walls are closing in on him and there's a timer he can't see.
When they get to the rapids, he waits for Ellie to get to the other side of the bus until he jumps on it but it dislodges. The dam in his head breaks and he yells, screams at her to run, to leave him, but she jumps on the bus anyway.
She drowns.
Joel doesn't doubt that the Fireflies are coming -- he hears them --  but he doesn't take his eyes off of her, doesn't stop the chest compressions until he's knocked out.
The rest of it is a blur, his sense of reality already warped by his need to get to the operating room. To save her.
Joel picks them off one by one, floor by floor, hardly taking note of how familiar it all feels. He doesn't even give the surgeon a chance to speak before he's dead, a bullet between the eyes. He knows they'll make it to the elevator. He kills Marlene. He drives them away.
He lies.
He wakes up yesterday again.
___
It takes a few days before Joel purposely deviates from what he's thinking of as the script. His head feels like it weighs a thousand pounds when he wakes in the clearing, Ellie's eyes on him.
He thinks about it as they pack up camp. Can he get them out of here? Would that be allowed? The rules of this aren't clear to him but he figures it can't hurt to try. They could turn around right now and make it back to Jackson in a week or so.
He watches Ellie carefully arrange her things in her bag, watches her stop to admire a butterfly in the branches above. He watches her and tries to see her alive and not pale on an operating table.
"Ellie," he says. "I got a bad feelin' about this."
She loves to tell him he's overreacting but today she crosses her arms and sits back on her heels. "What do you mean?"
Her scream as she falls into the water. Her ribs cracking beneath his hands. The piercing alarm in the hospital, her body warm but limp in his arms.
"What if we waited?" She frowns but he keeps going. "Went back to Jackson, rested up. Took a break. Come back in a few months with a bit of a crew. Tommy'll give us some guys, hell, I bet he'll come with if you want --"
"No," Ellie says sharply. There's an edge to her voice he hasn't heard in a long time. "Joel, shut up."
"Ellie --"
She stands abruptly, takes a few steps back. "I said no."  The look on her face tells Joel he's already lost. "Are you -- are you fucking kidding me? You want to go back? Now?"
He sighs. "Just to rest up. We don't know what we're walking into --"
Ellie throws her hands around in disbelief. Her eyes look wet. Christ, he's made her cry again. He promised himself he wouldn't do that.
"We don't know if they'll still be there."
"We don't know if they are there."
"And we won't find out if we fucking run away like cowards!"
Joel stands. "I don't want another Colorado State situation, Ellie --" Her face shutters. Mistake.
"Don't bring up Colorado," she growls. "You don't know what that was like."
Damn right he doesn't. He knows by now what happened but he'll never know how hard it was for her to survive when he was busy dying on that mattress. But he has to try something or they'll just end up here again tomorrow. Yesterday. Whatever.
The idea of her suffering makes his hackles rise, makes his blood run cold
"Can I finish a god damned sentence?" he snaps. Ellie is undeterred and snaps back.
"Not if it's going to be about leaving. We-- I -- we're not fucking leaving. Not after everything. We can't."
Joel sighs and drags a hand down his face. This girl. He's trying to save her and she can't see it. There's no way to make her see it and it's his fault. She should know by now that he'd do anything, anything, for her. He lost that battle a long time ago, probably longer ago than he'd like to admit.
"I know," he tells her. "Just...if you want to give it all up, to go back, we can. We don't have to go through with this."
Ellie's eyes are blazing and her tone is disappointed. It cuts deep. "Yes we do. I thought you'd understand that, Joel."
He follows her this time as she stalks down the highway towards the hospital. No mention of six strings, no dreams about planes. They catch the giraffes but she doesn't stick around to watch them for as long. It's a different kind of loss to be without her smile, her laughter. Joel wishes he'd never opened his god damned mouth.
"I'm sorry," he says. "For earlier." Ellie pauses on the stairs and half turns to look up at him. "I know it's important to you."
She sighs. "I know you mean well." Joel closes his eyes. He knows what comes next. "But there's no halfway with this. Once we're done, we'll go wherever you want, okay?"
He plays his part for the rest of the day, just to get it over with.
___
Next time, Joel waits until they're watching the giraffes to try something different.
"So," he says. "This everything you were hoping for?"
Ellie gives him her half-smile. "It's got its ups and downs, but...you can't deny that view, though."
He seizes his chance. "Wanna go down there?"
She perks up. "Really? Do you think they'll let us get close?"
"They might. Let's try."
They manage to backtrack a little bit and end up on the field. It smells like a zoo but Ellie is thrilled to be so close so they post up on the roof of a rusty FEDRA Jeep. Two of the giraffes end up eating out of the tree right above them. Ellie holds her breath.
"They just...don't care, do they?" she whispers. "How long do you think they've been here?"
She leans into his side and cranes her neck to watch one of them use its tongue.
"Don't know," he says. "Big ones could've been from before. But the tiny one s'probably younger than you."
"So cool," she says again. "They're from a zoo, right? I wonder if anything else lives in the city."
They've been sitting here long enough that the sun has started to set. Joel allows himself to hope.
"Might be. What do you say we spend the night here and look on the way to the hospital tomorrow? Daylight'll do us better."
Ellie chews on his suggestion. "I guess," she says. "Are we safe here?"
"Should be." Joel has no idea, frankly. He sure as hell wants them to wake up here in the morning. He wants to make good on this idea, wants to show her something else that'll make her smile. He wants this to be a bizarre, unexplainable day that he'll forget about with time.
"I'll keep watch."
They set up camp crowded against the fence so Joel can see the whole field. The giraffes leave them alone and Ellie falls asleep quickly after they eat.
In the quiet open air the dread in his gut returns full-force and he knows he's wrong. Again.
A branch cracks and he whirls around, rifle in hand to find three men pointing their guns at him through the wire. They might be wearing Firefly jackets but he can't tell. He doesn't care. Joel dares to look at Ellie for a second and sees she's still asleep.
It's a mistake.
One of them follows his gaze and his eyes widen.
"Holy shit," he whispers. "She looks like who Marlene said --"
"Shut up," the second one hisses. "On the ground, old man."
"How are you gonna get around that fence, hotshot?" he says. "Ellie. Ellie, wake up."
She blinks a few times and sees his stance. scrambling to her feet with her knife in hand.
"Holy shit. What the fuck?"
"Get behind me."
One of the soldiers points his gun at her.
"Don't move."
It's chaos after that. The guys shout at each other.
"Don't point it at her! Don't you remember the fucking briefing?"
"You hadn't even joined when we got here, you don't know. We've been looking for her for months --"
"If you shoot her we're all dead --"
Joel locks eyes with Ellie.
"When I say run, you run. Okay?"
The fear in her eyes turns to determination. Brave girl, he thinks. I'm sorry. He waits for the idiot pointing at her to look away and takes a deep breath. What's one more day?
"Run!"
Joel doesn't check to see if she obeys before firing through the fence. The rifle is incredibly powerful at such a short range and where there was once a head there's only mist. Joel clears the chamber as fast as he can and gets the second one in the shoulder but he's not fast enough for a third and before he realizes it he's on his back in the grass.
The Firefly's assault rifle litters Joel's chest with bullets but he doesn't feel it until he tries to take a breath and nothing comes. It's like he's underwater.
At least he didn't make her cry this time.
__
Joel isn't much of a believer in anything but he decides fairly quickly that he's in Hell or something close. God knows he deserves it.
His sins are countless, his ledger dripping with red just like his hands. They will never be clean. What he can't figure out is how he got here. Did he die somewhere in St. Mary's? Is the real world somewhere else beyond his reach, now? If he died then what happened to Ellie?
He tries to make tallies in the bark of a tree on the edge of camp but they disappear every time he wakes up. He makes do with his own slowly unspooling brain. Two, five, ten.
Ellie is much the same every time but somewhere around day twenty she asks him about it. "How do you know where everything is?"
They're in the bus depot before the tunnel. He's taking them quickly around the tents, putting off Ellie handing him a photo of his dead daughter. It's muscle memory at this point. A pair of pliers here, some rags there. A half-empty but uncracked bottle of hooch behind that blood-stained bed, some bullets under that overturned partition.
"Just payin' attention."
"I pay attention!"
Joel uses the excuse to grin at her. It's hard sometimes to remember that she has no idea what's coming, that he can and should be good to her every chance he gets. The violence has already started to blur together in his mind. Killing everyone in the hospital is by far the easiest part of this fucking loop. These parts are harder.
"Didn't say you don't."
"I feel like that was a double negative."
She's still energized from the giraffes and he knows she's working up the courage to talk about Sarah, but right now he wants to spend time with her. He spots the Firefly medal tangled in the shattered floodlight and points it out.
"Ellie," he says. She's at his side in seconds, looking up at him with eyes brighter than he's seen in weeks. "Wanna get that down?"
She gives him her classic why are you like this look. "Are you going to be weird and pick it up?"
Joel shrugs and leans on the rotting tank nearby. "Just want to check your aim."
"My aim is really fucking good and you know it!" Even so, she picks up a brick from her feet and palms it, eyeing the silver circle before winding her arm back and hurling the brick towards it.
She misses. Maybe three hundred miles and a trail of dead bodies ago she'd have stormed off, embarrassed and pissed. But she just makes a face at the still-swinging medal and then looks at him. "How did I miss that?"
He pushes off the tank and scoops up a glass bottle. "Sun s'probably in your eyes." Joel stands next to her and eyes the target, trying to compensate in his mind for her height. "Stand here." Ellie moves over in front of him and he hovers his arm over her. "Can I?"
She nods. Joel presses the bottle into her hand and she takes it as he maneuvers her with a hand on her elbow until she's got the trajectory he thinks will work.
"Now?" she asks. "Feels pretty fucking similar to what I was doing."
"Just trust me. Throw a little lighter than last time. And higher."
Ellie sighs, but once he steps back she does as he says and nails the medal hard enough that it drops to the ground. She whoops and turns around, hands high in the air and a wide smile on her face. Joel tries to breathe through how easily she puts her faith in him.
"Fuck yeah! Did you see that?" She holds both hands out for a high five and he obliges.
"Sure did. Nice job, kiddo."
When Ellie hands him the picture of Sarah, he pulls her in for a hug. He half expects her to shove him off but instead she allows it, twisting her hands in his shirt as he cups the back of her head.
"Thank you," Joel says quietly, thickly.
Later, when he finds her on the operating table, he presses his lips to her forehead for an extra moment before picking her up and heading for the elevator.
__
He messes with the order of things a little bit. Tries to make their morning last longer, tries to stay watching the giraffes for an hour or so.
Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn't.
Watching Ellie drown over and over fucks with his head more than the hospital does because he can't stop it. At least while he's leaving behind corpse after corpse he knows that she's asleep upstairs, waiting for him. In the tunnel, he knows that the only way out is through, but she has to fucking drown first.
He gets sloppy.
He forgets about the runners in the side rooms when he ducks in to avoid a clicker and takes a step too close. Ellie is behind him as always and he shoves her back blindly as three runners slam him against the metal railing of the stairs before he can reach for his gun. He's too surprised to feel anything, but their breath smells like rotting meat and something worse, something that makes his eyes water.
Joel searches the room for her and finds her -- pale-faced and terrified, already reaching for her knife. He tries to say her name but it comes out as a scream when one of the runners goes for his shoulder, jagged teeth ripping through his shirt in an instant.
"Ellie -- run, Ellie -- GO --" He begs her to leave him but his voice stops working as his throat is ripped out. The last thing he sees is her horrified face as she raises her pistol.
And then he wakes up yesterday.
___
It occurs to him on day 30 -- if he's keeping track accurately -- that he's got one of the smartest people he knows at his disposal. Kid's got an encyclopedic knowledge of space as well as science fiction stories. He asks her while they're still on the highway, stalling though he can see the blue H sign from here.
"Y'ever read stuff about time?" No reply. "Ellie?" She's staring at that deer again. "Ellie."
"What?"
"You read any stories about time back in school?"
"Uh, sure," she says. She tugs her sleeves over her hands and catches up to him, eyes on the ground. "Why?"
"Saw a weird movie 'bout it once. Somethin' reminded me of it this mornin'. Guy gets stuck in a...shit, what did they call it?" Joel peeks inside an RV and smells rot so he leaves it be. "He lives the same day over and over."
"A time loop!" Ellie sounds more excited about this than anything they've talked about for days. "Those are so fucking cool. Scary, though. I feel like I'd go crazy."
Joel drags a hand down his face. "Yeah," he says. "How do you think you get outta one?"
"Well, how did the guy in the movie do it?"
"He stopped bein' an asshole," he says. Ellie laughs.
"Well, we know that's not possible for you. Guess you're fucked."
"Guess so," he mutters.
The H sign is close enough that she'll see it any minute. He wishes for the hundredth time that they could just stay out here all day, just talking. If he had a guitar he'd play for her. If he had a fucking car he'd put her in it and turn around, even though it wouldn't do any good. They'd just end up right back here because he can't fucking figure out how to get out of this.
"I think you just have to change, right?" Ellie says. She's looking at the photo of an airplane on the bus. This time she doesn't tell him about her dream. Is he losing pieces of her, already? "I guess it doesn't have to be about yourself. Maybe something you do, or something you say. It's the universe telling you to make a different choice, right?"
That's the fucking thing. The choice isn't an option. It's not even a choice.
The one thing he hasn't tried and will not try is leaving the hospital when Marlene tells him to. He'd rather die a thousand times, rather live this shit show over and over for the rest of eternity than let them cut her brain out. They will not touch her while there is still breath in his body.
He'd do it all over again. He will.
__
Joel tries a hundred things and they don't work.
After his conversation with Ellie he decides to really fuck with the day. Doesn't matter, right? So long as she's not put in any extra danger he considers it. He begs her to walk away, get on his knees and pleads with her throughout the day. Doesn't work. She just gets pissed at him like that first time and he doesn't push it because he can't bear to see her cry. He lengthens their morning in the clearing, fakes sick or says the rifle is jammed and needs cleaning. That goes south, too, when a pack of runners wanders through the woods and straight into them. They make it to the highway and have to miss the giraffes because they're running.
One time Joel spends all day zig-zagging them around the city to avoid the tunnel. The Fireflies find them much the same way except they shoot him on sight and grab Ellie right out of his arms as he bleeds out on the cracked asphalt, her screams echoing in his ears.
Another time, he ties them together in the tunnel with some fraying rope and they both drown.
Killing Marlene early gets him a bullet in the head and not killing her at all gets him back where he started, no change.
Joel even begs the doctor to run more tests first, to try blood, to try anything, but it takes too long and the alarm sounds and he's cornered in the operating room before he can grab Ellie and go.
Nothing fucking works.
But what is there left to change?
__
His mind starts to fray. He loses count of the loops and it becomes hard to detach himself from the slaughter. Not even the good moments -- Ellie's laughter, the awe in her face when she sees the giraffes, her jokes and her muted but still sharp sarcasm -- keep him afloat. He's lost, adrift in a sea of blood and bullets and it starts to eat away any humanity that was left in him.
The blood of hundreds, thousands maybe, is on his hands and he feels nothing.
Once and only once does he get there too late. Everything else goes like it always does but maybe he took too long on the first floor, maybe he took too long picking the guys one by one instead of using the assault rifle, maybe maybe maybe.
When Joel gets to the pediatric ward he knows something is different -- he can hear a buzzing sound, something loud and unnatural. The stale air is thick with something metallic, tinged with death. The buzzing stops and he finds his feet glued to the floor outside the operating room. Voices on the other side of it, murmuring and the clink of metal on a tray. Joel's hand shakes when he reaches for the knob because he knows whatever he finds on the other side is going to kill him.
But he opens it because he has to. The doctor is at the sink this time, the nurses nowhere to be found. Ellie's body is covered in a sheet, blood seeping through the fabric. Joel looks away. He just stands there, his heartbeat loud in his ears as the world ends.
The first time his daughter died, Joel thought he could will it not to be so. He held her as long as he could, whispered her name with her blood drying on his hands until Tommy begged him to get moving.
This time, he knows it's true and he knows there's only one ending.
He raises his gun at the doctor who is now leaning on the edge of the sink. The door swings open and the nurses return, eyes wide and vibrating with the energy of a job well done. He swings over to them and kills them both with quick headshots. The doctor has barely turned around when he's dead, too.
Joel breathes, ears ringing. He manages one step closer to the operating table but his knees buckle and he goes down hard on the cool tile. His vision is blurry. Is he crying?
"I'm sorry," he says. "I'm so fucking sorry, baby." He angles himself so he won't get any blood on her and then presses the barrel of his gun to his temple and pulls the trigger.
__
If Joel was on the edge of losing his mind before, now he's laser focused. He doesn't pull any more shit. He settles back into the loop, savoring Ellie's laughter with the giraffe and gunning down every sorry motherfucker in his way at the hospital. He will not get there late ever again.
So when Marlene says something different the next time around and he almost misses it.
Ellie is dead weight in his arms but she's warm and he can see the rise and fall of her chest. The hospital was messier than usual because he rushed this time, cutting down the Fireflies like it was his last stand. There's blood in his hair and crusted under his fingernails and his shirt is beyond ruined.
"Are you going to tell her what happened here?" Marlene presses her hand into her side, blood leaking from around her crimson palm. "Are you going to tell her what you did?"
He lies to her.
Every time.
It's never occurred to him to try something else. Even though he's changed almost everything about this damn day except that.
Because Joel knows what happens if he tells the truth. He knows what that will cost him.
And he doesn't know if he'll survive it.
He's afraid. Joel doesn't want to lose her and if that makes him selfish then so be it. He wants to take her back to Jackson and give her a bedroom of her own and as many stupid comics as she wants and three meals a day for the rest of her long, peaceful life. He wants her to grow up and grow old.
He'd kill a thousand more Fireflies to make it happen.
He'd damn the whole world.
Because he loves her and it fucking hurts.
This girl and her puns and her comics and her god damned bravery and her bleeding heart. He doesn't want to lose her.
But is this, whatever this endless hell is, is it fair to her?
If it's breakable, if he has the ability to get them to tomorrow, to get them to Jackson, to get them home, shouldn't he? If he loves her shouldn't he give her a life even if he's not in it?
Joel gently arranges Ellie in the backseat and shoots Marlene in the head.
__
For a few seconds Ellie thinks she's in the car on the way into Pittsburgh. The hum of the old engine, the rocking motion of the truck. But -- wait. She's lying down. The car smells...musty. And she's cold like she's wearing a dress and --
"What the hell am I wearing?"
She flutters her eyes open. Different truck. Backseat. Is she in a...hospital gown? What the fuck? Where is she?
"Just take it easy," Joel says. Okay, so she's with Joel. Something in her chest settles. She must be safe. "Drugs are still wearin' off."
Drugs? Ellie pushes back into her memory and tries to find something, anything that'll give her a clue as to what's going on here. They were in the bus tunnel. The water was rushing, Joel jumped on the bus and it started moving and she...fell into the water?
It's a blur after that. More of a blank, really. Did they get to the hospital? Did they find the Fireflies? Based on her weird fucking outfit it sure seems like it.
"What happened?"
Joel's eyes flick up in the rearview mirror to look at her. "Let's get you into some clothes, first. Then we'll take a break and I'll tell you everythin'."
He sounds tired. More tired than he's ever sounded, frankly, but she can't imagine why. And he can't seem to stop looking at her like she's going to disappear. Like he hasn't seen her in ages.
"Okay," she says slowly. "Where the hell are we going to get those?"
"Your bag is on the floor by your feet." Joel veers off the highway down an exit ramp and Ellie sits up. Her head feels light for a second and then really heavy so she braces her hands on the seat in front of her and takes a few deep breaths. "You okay, kiddo?"
"Yeah. Fucking...drugs, I guess. What'd they do that for?"
"They ran some tests. We'll talk about it."
Normally she'd push him but something feels off. Ellie tries to get a good look at his face but she can't, not from this angle, and not with her head fucking pounding like it is. She's missing so much time. It makes her skin crawl, makes her heart race. Joel is here, she tells herself. He wouldn't let anything bad happen to her.
He parks them at the edge of a cemetery and gets out of the car to stand guard while she changes out of the gown. Her last pair of jeans, apparently, and a grey t-shirt with a few holes in the collar. She wishes she had a sweatshirt or something to wrap around herself, to pull over her hands and feel covered. But beggars can't be choosers. At least someone put her shoes in her backpack.
Joel doesn't turn around when she opens the door but she sees him stiffen.
"I'm done." He looks back at her and she finally sees his face. "Jesus Christ, Joel, what happened to you?"
It's not just the blood. Sure, he's got dried streaks of it on his neck and in his hair. Ellie glances at his hands and sees it crusted under his fingernails, too. But he looks wrecked. Older, somehow. He looks like something terrible happened, the way she remembers his face when he fell from the balcony in Colorado, when he found her in the burning restaurant. But somehow it's worse.
He's looking at her like he can't believe she's real.
"Alright." Joel lowers the rifle and ignores her question, clearly. "Didn't see anythin'. Should be fine to sit here for a bit."
"Are you going to tell me what the fuck happened?"
He moves like he's going to drag a hand down his face but thinks better of it. "Yeah," he says. "I am."
Ellie swings her legs so they're hanging out the door. Joel leans the rifle against the truck and crosses his arms. "You're making me kind of nervous, man."
"Just...promise me you'll hear me out to the end."
Yeah, something is going on. She doesn't like it.
"Uh, sure."
"What do you remember?"
Good fucking question. "The tunnel. The bus and -- water. I fell in, right?"
Joel nods, clears his throat. "Jumpin' on the bus was dumb. Don't do that again."
She snorts. "Yeah, okay. Point taken. But I was afraid you were going to drown!"
"You did." He delivers the news in a flat tone she doesn't like. She drowned?
"Are you serious?"
"I got us out of the water and tried to get you breathin' again." Ellie realizes her chest is sore. She imagines Joel doing compressions like they showered her in school, imagines his panicked face, his hoarse voice calling her name. Fuck.
"Did it work?"
"No," he says. "Fireflies found us first and knocked me out."
"That doesn't make sense." She frowns. "They knocked you out?"
Joel shrugs. "Just tellin' you what happened."
This isn't how she imagined it would go. She never told Joel, but for weeks she's been thinking about waltzing up to the hospital and telling them who she is. She pictured Joel telling her jokes while she got her blood drawn, pictured him staring down nurses and doctors while they made the cure. She figured it would take a few days, maybe a week, and then they'd be on their way back to Jackson. She had hoped Marlene might be there, too. She has so many questions about her mom.
"What did they do with me?"
Joel looks troubled. "I...don't exactly know. It was a while before I saw you again."
It makes her skin crawl. He must be able to tell because he keeps talking. "I'm sure they just ran some tests while you were out. They brought you back, made sure you were breathin' okay."
"Tests?"
"I'm gettin' there." She feels like he's having a hard time looking at her. Something close to but not quiet dread sits heavy in her stomach. What happened?
"Joel..."
"I woke up inside the hospital. Marlene was there. Told me they didn't know it was us, that they'd been waiting." He pauses, drags a hand down his face. "You didn't wake up or nothin'? You sure?"
Ellie shakes her head. She doesn't remember anything after the tunnel.
"Well, she told me they could do it. They had a doctor who could make the cure."
The air rushes out of Ellie all at once. "Are you fucking serious?"
"And then she said..." Joel chews on his words and looks away from her. He looks angry.
"What did she say?"
"Makin' a vaccine...would've killed you."
The bottom drops out of Ellie's world. It's like a hundred doors in her brain open at once.
It would have killed her? Are they sure? Did they do enough tests? Were they going to? Why didn't they wake her up? Were they going to ask her? How did they get out?
She swallows them all and manages just one in a broken whisper. "What did you do?"
Joel looks right at her. "I stopped them."
If Ellie wasn’t already sitting down she thinks her legs would give out. She knows that Joel meant what he said to her in Silver Lake. Knows that he'd do anything for her.
But this?
"What do you mean?" He shakes his head. "Joel. What do you mean, you stopped them?"
His shoulders slump. "They told me to leave and I refused. And I made sure no one can follow us to try again."
Static builds in her ears. She can read between the lines. She speaks Joel now. He killed them all, that much is clear to her. He killed them all, Marlene, too, probably, because she was supposed to die to save the world. Hot tears sting her nose and gather at the corner of her eyes.
"But I -- but we -- I was supposed to...I'm the cure!"
"You're a person. You're a kid. Don't matter what's in your brain, you ain't dyin' for --"
Ellie pushes out of the truck and to her feet. Joel steps back to give her room but she knows he probably wants to touch her, to reassure her. The anger fills her, makes her face hot and her heart race.
"Who said you get to make that choice? If they said I had to die maybe I should have? Then it would mean something --"
"Your immunity ain't the thing that matters most. You are. So I picked you," Joel yells.
She's really crying now, huge heaving sobs that make it hard to talk, make it hard to convey how angry she is. "Well, you picked wrong, asshole."
"I ain't gonna apologize for it. I'd do it all over again, the exact same way. Every time." Joel's expression is as serious as it gets. He used to look this way all the time. No nonsense, no room for argument.
She tries to find the words anyway but they don't come.
"Now, you've got some options here," he says. "I think the best one is for us to go back to Jackson. I know Tommy'll take you in, and --
She laughs, or tries to.
It sounds like something bitter and awful to her own ears. First he tells her she was supposed to die today and now he wants to leave her?
"Are you fucking serious, Joel? You want to leave me again?"
Joel's brows pinch together. He looks pained. Good. It feels like her chest is caving in, like her lungs aren't working right anymore. This must be what it felt like to drown in the bus terminal, to sink slowly, to fade away entirely. She read once that drowning was supposed to be peaceful. This hurts.
"I want you to be safe," he says. "Jackson is the best place for that. I don't have to be there if you don't want me there --"
"I didn't fucking say that!" she yells. "I -- Jesus, give me a fucking second, okay?"
He stands by the door as she paces back and forth, tugging her hands through her hair.
She was supposed to die. But she didn't. There's no cure. And it sure fucking sounds like Joel didn't leave any option to try again.
He traded saving the world for her.
It's too much.
"What do you want, Ellie?" Joel sounds like he's been awake for days. Like he's in pain, like he's being hollowed out. He sounds like how she feels.
She digs the heels of her hands into her eyes.
"I want none of this to have happened! I want us to go back to this morning and I want us to not have gone into the bus tunnel and I want you to have asked for tests first, I want them to try something else. I want Marlene to tell me why they didn't wake me up. I want to do it again but differently, I want things to be different, I --"
Her words break off into a sob. "Ellie..." She opens her eyes and finds him reaching for her. His shirt is stained with dried blood but she steps into his hold and his arm wraps around her.
"I don't know what to do, now," she whispers.
Joel exhales a shaky breath. "I know you wish things were different. I wish things were different. But they ain't."
They stand there, his hand dragging up and down her back. She listens to his heartbeat and remembers those nights in the basement when she thought it would stop any minute.
"Fuck," she whispers, then pulls away. He lets her go. "Fuck, Joel."
He sighs. "Yeah, kiddo. Fuck."
He told her the truth and that means something. It hurts, it hurts so bad, and it doesn't absolve him of anything, but that matters.
"I'm so angry with you," she says. "I don't know how to forgive you for...for...saving me."
It sounds stupid as she says it but Joel nods solemnly.
"That's alright."
"But I..." She wants to get this part right. "Let's go back. To Jackson. We'll figure it out there. But you...you have to swear to tell me the truth. Just like this. We have to be honest with each other."
Joel meets her gaze without blinking. "I swear."
Ellie takes a deep breath. The anger, the horror, the disbelief at what he's done settle a little bit. She has no clue what comes next, but this is a start.
"Okay."
__
Joel wakes up.
His back hurts and his shoulder aches. It's dark, darker than it should be, darker than it's been for hundreds of days.
Ellie is asleep in the backseat of the truck.
It's tomorrow.
thank you for reading. let me know what you thought!

The Rookie Prodigy - Carlos Sainz x Driver! Reader Part 6
Plot: You are a rookie coming into the 2022 season of Formula One into Alfa Romeo with team member Zhou Guanyu, being in a mid tier team can you help them rise up the ranks. What pressures occur for the only rookies within the 2022 line up!

Tumblr media
'Where is Y/N Y/L/N' was the talk of the paddock on the coastline of Miami after you missed media day on Thursday. Zhou was there alone trying his best to make funny content but clearly the lack of you there was affecting him.
The presenters for Sky Sports also could tell there was a lack of you in the paddock. Obviously it was still loud thanks to Lando and those kinds of energies.
But where it was media day people didn't think too much of it, maybe you slept in and was too embarrassed to rock up late, or maybe you missed your Wednesday flight ... or maybe you'd been asked by your PR team not to show up because of everything with you and Lewis in the media right now.
There was a lot of noise around Lewis and you. A lot of it wasn't kind either, the worst being that people assumed you slept your way into your seat as the only woman in F1. This started a spiral of hate towards you, people had somehow doxed you and death threats had been sent to your home and you couldn't even log into your socials because it was so bad.
When you didn't arrive for the first free practice that's when more attention was brought to your absence.
"Have you guys seen Y/N?" Carlos asks the little group he was stood with, concerned he hadn't seen you.
"No, she wasn't here yesterday for media day and she didn't come out in FP1, her side of the garage was actually so slow and empty. Their main focus was on getting Zhou out!" Lando admitted having seen with his own eyes what your absence had done to the team.
"As a rookie it's risky missing free practice, maybe they'll announce a replacement for her tonight?" Charles offers sipping on his drink that he'd taken with him from their hospitality.
"I can't believe it, I wonder what's going on!" Daniel nods, wondering why the paddock princess wasn't here.
Things got stranger when you also didn't turn up for FP2 on the same day.
You also weren't there the next morning and everyone was thinking Alpha Romeo were going to have their first DNS of the season where you still weren't around.
It was around 20 minutes until qualifying was supposed to start when someone noticed your paddock pass had been scanned in. They sent someone from the FIA to search and see if it was a mistake or if you had in fact come in.
By the time someone reached the garage to ask you were already in your car waiting to come out for qualifying. You were nervous as hell, you'd missed out on all the free practices and never driven the Miami circuit.
You drove out and ended Q3 in P14, one away from the cut off and it was on a lap where you'd only just managed to get passed the flag in time to get that vital last lap in. Zhou despite having been around the whole weekend and participating in all the free practice sessions didn't have as great a run as you coming P17 and being eliminated for Q2.
Come Q2 and the commentators were in shock with how quickly you were coming to grips with the track. You were only a few tenths of a second off Lando's time coming in P6, a drastic change from your previous result.
You stayed sat in the car in Q3, everyone in the garage knew you didn't really want to talk right now. So it was only you engineer talking to you every now and then telling you stats and times.
Q3 again was pretty good and you were managing to start P5. And considering the week you've had you felt really good about that result.
The rest of the weekend just had awkward vibes, you could tell in your post race interviews how much you didn't want to be there.
"Y/N, it's great to see you back around here and what a great result for you despite being absent for all your free practice sessions!" the interviewer says and you just nod, it wasn't a question. It was a statement so you didn't have to answer.
"How do you feel about that result?" they ask.
"Yeah, good. I think I got as much as I could out the car as I could!" you reply and the interviewer sighs knowing this would be a hard interviewer seeing as this was the first time they were experiencing icy and cold Y/N.
You ended up the interviews quickly, your PR apologizing to the last few saying you wouldn't be doing any more of them.
You went back to the hotel exhausted, just wanting to sleep and get this weekend over.
Twitter was going crazy over how you had been acting in your interviews, your fans specifically were really concerned and of course because it was brought up online all the other drivers saw their reactions and had to go look for themselves.
Tumblr media
The ones who hadn't really interacted with you just put it down to an off day, which did happen with drivers particularly rookies who were being too hard on themselves which wasn't uncommon in the newbies.
But for those who did know you and had made the effort to welcome you to the sport, like Zhou, like Carlos, like Lewis, like Charles and Lando and George and Alex ...
They all could tell something was seriously wrong, but it seemed impossible for anyone to get hold of you.
Even the next day on race day, you showed up in the paddock for the national anthem of America, and were ushered straight to your car by your PR team, all the other drivers sharing a look of confusion.
You looked so exhausted and worn out, but they didn't know why.
The race wasnt good, as well as being tired from a severe lack of sleep, there was also your mental state affecting your drive. So you went from P5 down to P7, still in the points but it just didn't really feel ... good enough and you went back to the hotel disappointed.
Your PR team had refused you do any media after the shit show you caused with your bluntness yesterday and thoughts it's best to send you on your way to Switzerland to sort everything out that had been happening and get ready for Spain.
"Charles, she wont answer me..." Carlos had complained to Charles worried about the young driver.
"I don't know Carlos, we're all routing for her and hoping she's okay but maybe she just needs some time alone because of all the pressure. She the first in years to be here, as a woman you know... i cant imagine the pressure she's been feeling" Charles explains with a sigh.
"Mmmmm Toto have you heard anything about Y/N... she's well I don't think she's okay!" Lewis asked his boss in the Mercedes garage.
"Mmmm nothing, but i'll reach into my contacts. I knew her since she was 13 because she was the frist female Mercedes Development Driver/ Young Driver we sponsored. It's a shame really she isn't driving for one of our teams" Toto sighs, knowing Lewis wanted answers starting to tap away on his phone.
You knew these people cared about you, but right now... what you were dealing with and experiencing, you didn't want to drag any of them into.

I'm really very curious about what Pepito and QRoier's relationship is going to be like, because one thing I adore about his rp is how subtle and human he makes it.
QRoier doubts Pepito and sees him as a distraction from his own mind because of the past weeks, he directly admitted that he is sad and destroyed.
In addition, the moment he entered the server they immediately complained to him for not taking care of his son (I am aware that they were jokes, but taking it within RP is very interesting), His immediate response was to ask about Richas, man just arrived and they immediately threw information at him (And not even all the information, he didn't know that the rest of the eggs came back and were in the hospital until Pepito told him).
"it's like if I'm a fucking babysitter, I'm fucking done. And then they die and I get sad and then- like that, is like that all day" QRoier is already expecting the worst, he has already said that within RP he cannot get too attached again, He already lost two children, because yes, Tilín was basically his, he lost his niece, and later when he began to care for others again he lost his new son and his sister.
Not only that, but also the last moments with QCellbit, there is a comparison in how he presented things before to today, "I learn Portuguese because I am married to a Brazilian" "It's my husband's castle.", When today I don't mention it even once (And it's not bad, for me it's great if we see it from an rp perspective) maybe it's the refusal to even think about the worst with the one he loves the most.
QRoier is a character who has suffered from the beginning, has lost and is tired, Let's also remember that the only ones who know how to see through QRoier's emotions are QCellbit and QJaiden, they know the way he suffers.
Even today when they asked him again how he was and as QFit pointed out his appearance he refused to acknowledge anything in front of them, saying he was "fine."
Roier gives such subtle and wonderful development to his character that unless you really watch it and know the way he does it it's easy to miss it (Reminds me of the way Foolish does it too).

You're tapping your foot against the tile floor rapidly. The unnatural smell of a sterilized hospital made the hairs on your arm stand up. Safe to say, you hate the hospital.
You stood in the morgue. It's strange, you had never been in one before. The lights were all turned on but there was no natural lighting to clear up the uneasy feeling you felt. You had asked for this, to see him before they turned him into ash. You could back out, the workers wouldn't judge you. Death wasn't an easy thing to stare down even if you work in a field where death is always right around the corner.
You steeled your resolve. You wanted to see him, you wanted to see your John just one more time. You nodded to the morgue worker and they opened the little cabinet. Was John ever afraid of tight spaces? They slide out the tray he was laid on and your entire body goes cold. He was pale, his wound patched up to the best of the morgue's ability and his eyes closed.
You remembered the way on TV the eyes would go glassy and gray. You're glad his eyes aren't open, you wanted his electric blue eyes filled to the brim with life and mischief to be the only version you know. "Oh John." You muttered as you traced the features of his face with your eyes. "I'm so sorry."
Tumblr media
A nurse walks into the waiting room and calls out your last time. You try to stand, it's getting more and more difficult, you think bitterly to yourself. Still you swat away Simon's hand out of habit and stand up by yourself and toddle towards the nurse, hand on your stomach. The nurse glances at Simon, the look she has on her face obscured by the mask.
"He's with me, don't worry." You assure her and she begins to walk, leading the two of you to the hospital room where you'll likely spend the next hour or so. Bless her heart, your nurse, as she goes through the checklist of symptoms to make sure the pregnancy isn't going sideways. She keeps glancing at Simon in what you now understand is apprehension. You smack him and whisper, "Did you have to wear your balaclava?" You hiss.
"I was out of face masks." He replies swiftly. You lift up your shirt on instinct when the nurse moves to the ultrasound machine. This song and dance has been done more times then you would like but, you glance at your stomach and place a hand on it again, feeling the baby kick against you in response. It was for them.
The nurse spreads the gel across your stomach and uses her tool to show you them. The baby, Johnny's baby. "Their looking healthy Mum." The nurse says with what you assume is a smile. "Would you like to know their gender?"
"No." You swiftly respond and Simon glances at you. You didn't want to know if it would be a boy or a girl, it just felt like another weight on your shoulders.
"Alrighty." The nurse says, "Would you like a print out of the ultrasounds?"
"Yes." Simon replies for you and the nurse nods. She tells the both of you that the doctor will be in soon to discuss your labor plan. That comment gets another look from Simon, this time you return the look. The moment the nurse leaves the room, Simon is asking questions. "Why don't you have a birth plan yet?" At least he isn't asking why I don't want to know the gender, you think thankfully.
"I just, I lost track of time." You mutter. Between everything going on within the months of your pregnancy, trying to get out of bed each day. Trying to live with the fact that he isn't here and you're doing this alone.
Simon sighs your name and shakes his head, "Well, then we'll just start planning now."
You're sitting in his truck and looking at the contact for John's mum. She had given it to you, telling you to contact her if you need her. You've been staring at it for minutes, thumb hovering over the message option.
"Would you really come with me?"
Simon looks over at you for a second, "Of course, I promised I would." He says with no hesitation.
You look at the message option and press down on it and begin to type out of the message.
"I'm sorry I didn't get into contact with you sooner and I'm sorry this is the reason why I am. Your son and I slept together a few weeks before he was MIA. I'm pregnant by your son, I didn't sleep with anyone else so I promise this child is your grandchild. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and on leave if you want to meet up."
You turn your phone off, place it face down after sending the message and try to ignore the fast beating of your heart.
Your phone dings while you are sitting at the dining table picking at your dinner. Simon looks at you, raising his eyebrows when you don't pick it up to see the message. You ignore his looks and try to focus even harder on stabbing your mashed potatoes.
"You gonna see what she said?" He asks and you close your eyes. You place down your fork and hide your hands under the table before you lose control of your tremors. Silence hangs in the air until he speaks again, "Would you like me to see what she said?"
You think about his offer for a moment before you slowly let out a breath, "No. I'll do it." You look at your phone, almost wishing it would disappear, then you pick it up.
"Do you still have my address? Let me know if you don't, I'd like you to come here."
You say nothing and show Simon the text. "Do you still have her address?" You nod. "When do you want to go?" You shrug and keep your head down. You wish she hadn't been so vague? Is she going to yell at you? Tell you she doesn't believe you?
Simon rushes over to you when he sees your breathing start to pick up. He kneels next to you, "Can I hold you?" He whispers and you nodded frantically. He takes your hand in his and rubs his thumb over your knuckles as tears begin to drip down your cheeks.
"What if she hates me?" You asked and Simon shakes her head.
"She gave you her phone number, I'm sure she knew something about the relationship between you and Johnny."
You pick up your phone with shaky hands and send a single text.
"Tomorrow?"
She responds with a thumbs up emoji and you set the phone down, looking down at Simon who nods his head at you.
"Don't worry. I'll be with you the whole way." He reassures you and slowly lets go of your hand.
Tumblr media
You laid in bed, limbs too heavy to move as you stared at the ceiling. It was odd to no longer have Soap visiting you at night just to share a bed for a few hours. You know he's in the morgue, cold and lifeless, yet you still wait to hear that knock on your door.
You blinked. "He's not going to knock." You said to yourself in the dark, eyelids heavy with exhaustion. Yet you waited and waited until your closed your eyes too long. The grief counselor was unimpressed by your late showing and seemingly even less impressed by your clear lies that you were fine and handling the passing well.
Didn't help that you couldn't even look him in the eyes.
That night you stood in front of his barracks doors just staring at the door. I could go in. No one is here, it hasn't been reassigned yet. I could go in. For a moment, you thought you wouldn't. You took a step back but quickly moved forward and opened the door.
His shirts still hung in the closet, his bed still made to military standard. His desk was covered in a mixture of paperwork and doodles on stray pieces of paper. His second pair of boots sat next to the door. You slowly walked over to his closet and pressed a shirt to your nose.
It still smelt like him. Gunpowder and fresh rain with just a hint of his musk that told you he hadn't washed this shirt quiet yet. He is so weird. You thought to yourself. Why is his dirty shirt hung up?
You walked over to his bed and slowly laid down on it before you turned your head to inhale whatever smell was still on his pillow. It smelt like a generic mans brand you would buy at a dollar store but it was his smell nonetheless.
Your chest began to ache the longer you stayed in his room. The relief you sought here was nowhere to be found, it just felt like each second you stayed hollowed out your chest further. Still, you laid in his bed for hours.

The Shortcut Chapter Three: The Talk
Eddie found you sitting against your headstone like you were waiting for him.
He waited until the moon was full and high in the sky to come back since he knew that he wouldn’t be able to see you without the magic in the air that the moon provided him.
He still didn’t really understand it, but if he thought too much about it it made his head ache with racing thoughts.
You offered him a small, apologetic smile as he approached. He sat beside you, about a foot between you.
The ground was cold and he shivered.
“How are you?” You asked, speaking first.
“I’m fine. Things are tough right now at home but it’s okay,” Eddie spoke honestly.
“Would you like to talk about it?” You asked him, genuine curiosity in your tone.
“I graduated high school this past spring. It took me three tries and I finally did it and I thought after I did that my life would magically get better and it just…hasn’t.”
“How hasn’t it gotten better?”
Eddie let out a deep breath. “I don’t know. I don’t have a real job. I sell…illegal things to make money. I can’t go to college because I don’t have the money and I didn’t have the grades to get in. My friends are doing all these crazy cool things and I’m just stuck. I haven’t seen any of my friends in weeks. I wanted to leave this town and make music but I have no money and my uncle needs help at home,” Eddie blurted out, listing off all of the things in his life that had been wrong.
You were quiet for a beat before you spoke again.
“Things could be worst. You could be dead.”
Eddie froze, staring at you for a moment and feeling like an asshole for being insensitive.
You let out a loud laugh, head leaning back with the force of it coming out.
The sound of it made Eddie laugh too.
“I’m sorry,” you admitted once your laughter died down. “For getting upset the last time you were here. I hadn’t realized so much time had passed and it had been so long since anyone bothered to visit me. It just made me think that’s all.”
“Can I ask you something?” Eddie was hesitant, worried that you would push him away again but he was dying to know. “What happened? How did you….you know?”
“How did I die?” You sighed, looking at the ground before you. “I was engaged to a nice boy that grew up down the street from us. He had a nice job, had gone to school, made good money. That was so important to my mother that he could support me. I was infatuated,” you said with a smile, staring off dreamily.
“I thought everything was going so well. I was working in the hospital as an orderly. I think that’s where I first started to get sick, and within a day I was in the hospital bed as a patient. I’m still not sure what it was. Possibly influenza, there was an outbreak on the unit I was working on.”
“After it happened, I found myself wandering here. It took me a moment to realize the grave I was standing in front of was my own. My mother and sister visited for a while before they stopped.”
“What about your fiancé?” Eddie asked.
You gave him a sad smile. “I’ve seen him visit twice. The second time he had a wedding band on and he was saying goodbye.”
“I’m so sorry.”
You put a hand up. “Save your apologies. It makes no difference now.”
Eddie wanted to change the subject. “Where do you go when you’re not here?”
“I’m still here…or there. Sometimes I watch over my grave. I did that a lot in the beginning. Sometimes I am in between.”
It didn’t make sense to Eddie but he didn’t want to push it.
“Eddie, I hope things get better for you,” you said with a little smile.
“Why does this feel like a goodbye?” Eddie asked, head spinning by the change in direction of the conversation.
He looked forward to every meeting with you. You were the little light in his life at the moment.
“It can’t be safe for you to come here at night.”
“No one messes with me. I promise,” Eddie lied through his teeth.
You gave him a look like you didn’t believe him but didn’t push him.
“Yeah, you can’t get rid of me that easily,” Eddie said, lightening to mood.
There were chills on his skin as he heard your laugh carry into the night.
He stayed with you till morning, watching you disappear into the morning light.
He missed you the second you were gone and was already counting the days until he could see you again.

Miracles and surprises were never in short supply around Christmas, you had learned that during the last Christmas you spent with Bucky and the club; your own family. But, what if something came along, uprooting your certainty, and presenting all of the questions you were beyond nervous to find the answers for?
You knew one thing was for certain, though. Your heart, while full of love and adoration for the man you called your own, maybe, just maybe, had room for another special someone.

The town’s Christmas Fair was a well anticipated event, and for weeks, you offered your help, free time, and your ideas to the local school to pull it off. It had been history from then on — tireless hours spent with paper snowflakes, countless decorations, and roping the guys in on the fun, too.
Before the fun truly began, and after a very exciting meeting with the kids and their families, you were elected the leader of their small committee; the President of your own little festive family.
What made the fair all the better, though, and warmed your heart the most, was that all proceeds from all purchases would be donated to the local hospital; to put a little cheer into the lives of the kids that were unable to be home for Christmas. Much like the previous year with the bike run.
And, naturally, when it came to making the decorations, out of all of the members of the club, Peter was the one that was all for it. Even Sam had grudgingly joined in on the fun once he learned that there was a prize for the best-looking snowflakes.
A whole other beast, though, was convincing Bucky and Steve, a steadfast duo in their stubbornness, and they did not budge, not even an inch, on the fact they were not taking part. “You can go have fun with it, baby,” Bucky whispered into your temple once, after you tried to convince him yet again. You sat across his lap, tracing the tattoos over the arms that held you close. “I’ve got too much shit to do.”
Steve was much the same, using the same excuse as the President. “Sorry, Sweets, I have to get all this fuckin’ paperwork done and you know what Buck is like if I fuck it up.”
You did, and you pouted at the pair of them whenever you sorted through the snowflakes and they were within your field of vision.
Days passed, and still, your bribes and pleas went ignored or brushed away with another excuse.
Until finally, the fair’s set up date rolled around — the big red circle on the calendar on your fridge made it very, very obvious.
It started off without a hitch; every stall was erected and placed in increments with the help of the families, and, surprisingly, the club; both sides worked in tandem to make sure the kids would have somewhere to showcase their creations.
You watched with a critical, artistic eye as Steve and Bucky worked on the marquees and the heavier weighted items, and you directed them with softened commands — it was true, you knew they were busy as the President and his right hand, but they did take the time to help set up for your big day.
It made it all the better, having them there.
“Thank you, boys.” Steve’s arms wrapped around you tightly, and his beard tickled your cheek as he kissed you on the cheek, chuckling quietly.
“You’re welcome, darlin’,” he said. “I best be off, I’ll come check in later, alright?”
You nodded and stepped away to stand next to Bucky, whose arm immediately went around your waist to pull you into his side. Steve’s Harley roared to life, and you watched him ride from the car park and down the road, until he was out of sight.
“It’s lookin’ amazing, baby—tomorrow’s gonna be beautiful,” Bucky said, a hint of awe in his voice as he looked around the fair. “My own little President, huh? You gonna get the kids their own bikes?”
A genuine laugh shook your shoulders, and you shook your head. “I wish. Come on, we’re not done!”
You ignored Bucky’s grumbles, his endless complaints, and pulled him along behind you as you skipped towards the next thing on your to do list.
Not even once did it cross your mind to ask where Steve went, or what he was up to. And, if you had been a little more inclined to notice, you would have seen just how upbeat Bucky was ever since his Vice President left; how he kept trying to hide his smile while he watched you sort what went where, or how when you glanced up at his face from your task, you would see a glint of something in his bright eyes.
Or, at the very least, you would have noticed how Bucky did everything and anything to make sure you did not leave the park where the fair was to take place the very next day.
The sun had started to sink on the horizon, turning the sky orange and pink with the hues of gold between. You looked up from your task with a yawn, then glanced around to see most of the parents packing up for the day — eager little ones running around their feet and clamouring to get into the neatly packed decorations.
“Why don’t we head back, sweetheart?” Bucky asked, putting a box of rope underneath the covered bottom of the stall you were currently working on. You blinked and looked at him tiredly, but you smiled as he neared. “You look exhausted.”
The warmth of his hand tenderly cupping your face soothed your tired mind, and his fingers wandered from your cheek down to your shoulder, where he squeezed. “Yeah, I think I’ll take you home—can’t have you droppin’ dead from exhaustion, especially not before your big day.”
“Okay,” you muttered, conceding just this once that it would be best. The soft, comforting warmth of your bed could not be denied any longer. A few shouts of goodnight followed your departure from the fairgrounds, and you sat behind Bucky on his Indian, content to nap as he drove you both home; the lull of the engine a familiar lullaby.
The fleeting dreams of something small in your arms made your heart almost burst with fondness; how the little bundle would wriggle in delight as the sound of the bike rumbled — just as it did now — made the whole of your being inflate with helium, lifting you in the contentment of it.
A leather clad hand squeezed yours, and you blinked yourself awake. The garage of the clubhouse was lit up in the fading light of the day, and the Christmas lights that Peter had hung glinted and shone over the white snow. “We’re home, sweetheart,” Bucky said, unclipping his helmet. “C’mon. Let’s get you inside and into a blanket burrito.”
“Yes,” you breathed, envisioning the fluffy, plush blankets that awaited you.
Bucky helped you off the seat and unclipped your helmet, stowing it away in the pannier before he dismounted himself. The walk to the clubhouse was slow, hindered by your constant yawning, but when Bucky opened the door for you, you stopped dead in your tracks, blinking into the darkness of what would normally be the bar and games room. “What—?”
The lights flickered on, bathing the room in warm light — filtered by the absolutely ridiculous amounts of paper snowflakes strung down from the roof and on garlands. Tinsel was on every possible surface it could be stuck on, and you stared, slack-jawed, as Sam, Peter, and Steve jumped out from behind cover.
“Surprise!”
You shrieked and hiccupped on a gasp, floundering from the shock of seeing that they all had taken part, even in secret. Arms enveloped you from behind and you looked over your shoulder to Bucky — he was grinning, that charming pull of his lips that had you hooked from the beginning. “Surprise, baby.”
“You did it! You did it, and you didn’t tell me!”
“That’s the point of a surprise, Sweets,” Steve chimed in. A soft blanket appeared from behind his back, wrapped in gold ribbon. “Here, you need to get to bed and get some sleep for tomorrow.”
Bucky let go of you, and you bounded forward to grab the blanket, but only after you collided with Steve’s chest to crush the blond in a hug. “I can’t– Thank you, thank you so much.”
The next morning, after one of the best night's sleep, you awoke in a flurry. Excitement pumped adrenaline through your veins, and after shoving cup after cup of coffee under Bucky’s nose, you were on your way to the fairgrounds.
It was crowded as Bucky pulled into a park; the others would follow later, but as you were the President of the committee, you needed to show your support. The stalls were brimming with life, and the children had the widest, brightest smiles on their faces as they gushed and chattered about their wares — a majority of which were actually the crafts of their parents.
“I think it’s been a hit,” Bucky said, a big grin on his face. He looked at you then, pride swelling his chest. “I’m so fuckin’ proud of you.”
You felt the heat of his praise crawl up your neck, and you ducked your head as you grabbed his arm. “Let’s go see what they’re all doing.”
Bucky kissed you on the cheek, and led you through the crowds, arm in arm.
The stalls were bursting with Christmas wares — wreaths and lights, decorations and door stoppers, then there were rows and rows of knitted wares that were softer than the clouds that sent the flurries of snow down from the sky. “There is so much,” you said, wonderstruck. “Look at it all, Buck! They all did so well.”
“I think, sweetheart,” Bucky said, leaning closer to a stall where a small boy was enthusiastically exclaiming about his father’s automotive models, “That it was you that brought them all together.”
“I would agree,” a voice said, and you looked over to the source. It was one of the mothers that attended the meetings regularly; always with a smile on her face. “We couldn’t have done it without you, truly.”
Your eyes widened a fraction and you fidgeted with your fingers, overwhelmed with the compliment. “Thanks– Thank you–”
She smiled at you, then she looked at Bucky and began to talk to him about the models he was looking at so intently. “My husband worked for hours on these.” A wooden motorcycle was placed in his hands, and Bucky looked at it with glee akin to the child before him. “He took inspiration from your bikes, did you know?”
“No,” Bucky said. He looked into the woman’s face and blinked, as though his eyes were burning from the tears he choked back. “How much?”
The two talked about prices, and you took the opportunity to look around at the rest of her wares. There were clothes, all embossed with all manners of machinery and vehicles: classic muscle cars to modern ones, to planes and trucks — even farm equipment.
It was an explosion of colour as you took it all in, and the adult shirts and sweaters turned into children’s wear just as the small boy noticed the President of the motorcycle club of his town. A loud squeal left his widened mouth, and you glanced over to see Bucky knelt down on one knee, asking the boy all kinds of questions: “Did you help your dad make these?” to “Is this what you want to do when you’re older?”
Your heart soared, and your stomach flipped.
Bucky brought the bike model, and he tipped the little boy for excellent service, the smile never leaving his face as he handed the boy the money. There was a surprised exclamation from Bucky’s lips when the kid launched himself forward to hug him around the thighs.
It was while Bucky was occupied with his new attachment that you noticed a small array of tiny baby clothes.
Colours and designs were more subtle in comparison to the adult clothes, but one onesie caught your attention in particular. A black motorcycle, much like Bucky’s, was embossed on the front, just by itself, no excessive font or exaggeration of size; an almost perfect replica of the bike that was Bucky’s chariot.
“You’ve spotted it, honey,” the woman said, her voice fond. You looked at her and then at Bucky. “Oh, don’t you worry,” she gestured at her son. “He can talk the ears off of anyone.”
“I–” You tried, but your mouth had gone dry, and your stomach had twisted, a fluttering thing that you refused to acknowledge. “I’m not–”
“That’s okay,” she soothed, nodding. “It is a cute onesie; I can’t blame you for being hung up on it.”
“But if I were–”
“If you were,” she said, a knowing glint in her eyes, “I would say it’s the perfect thing.”
Unable to stop yourself, you looked back at Bucky and the small boy. He was animatedly gesturing at the rest of the models, that same childish glee on his face, as though he couldn’t believe an adult was so invested.
Bucky, however, looked between the display of models and the boy, his eyes soft and filled with such genuine care and enthusiasm that your heart skipped a beat.
It hammered against your ribs, roiling your stomach and making your limbs feel like jelly. Could—?
“Why don’t you have it, love,” the vendor said, gently putting the folded onesie into your hand. “From one woman to another, I think you have found the one that would love another just as much as he loves you. And, by the looks of it–” She paused, smiling at her son and the President of the motorcycle club with something resembling maternal love. “That would be a hell of a lot.”
The onesie found itself tucked into your pocket, the weight of it so heavy and cumbersome, but lighter than air — a contrast you could not comprehend. And as you walked through the rest of the fair, taking in the sights and smells of Christmas, you couldn’t help but feel the want, the longing for a Christmas Miracle of your own.

txt when they have explosive diarrhoea! *UNSERIOUS
Tumblr media
۫ ִ ﹗🐡 𓏸 txt!ot5 . ⊹ ݁ 🗯  ⋆ WARNING!!! lots of shit talk again as it is still a normal part of life!!   THIS IS A JOKE!!! 𖤛REQUESTED!
Tumblr media
CHOI YEONJUN.
too prideful for the diarrhoea pills.
hunched over with his legs cross while holding on to the wall for his dear life.
"It's a way of living."
sure it is yeonjun.
everyone already knows that he's suffering.
everyone can see how much yeonjun is clenching but they'd rather rejoice seeing the man in pain than help so it's like a fun time as he flails like a flag in the wind.
beomgyu purposefully occupies bathrooms so he has to suffer and wiggle and silently cry as he waits for him to come out
with taehyun recording yeonjun's entire ordeal
soobin walking around yeonjun while playing shitting noise on his bluetooth speakers.
it's a group venture at this point to mentally scar yeonjun for life
beomgyu only comes out when huening kai texts him that yeonjun had become blue in the face.
after yeonjun crawls into the bathroom at last
no one can enter that place anymore for like a week
it has been officially declared a biohazard zone.
yeonjun refuses to acknowledge that day.
CHOI SOOBIN.
the first thing after he is done shitting is slamming beomgyu's door open and accusing him of putting something in his take out.
beomgyu—"but i wasn't even there when you ate last!"
refuses to accept that he is suffering because had eaten spicy ramen last night which he hadn't been able to digest.
makes it everyone's problem that his ass is on fire but also refuses to go to the hospital because he is too embarrassed.
doesn't take pills because he thinks it can also heal on its own while huening kai has to help him by dragging him to the bathroom and stay outside for moral support with soobin checking every 4 second to make sure he's actually there
after taehyun forces the medicine down his throat, he's still complaining that the pain hasn't stopped within five seconds.
by the end of the night everyone has dark circles and messy hair from staying awake with soobin
with soobin finally crawling our of the bathroom like
"yes it's stopped coming out!"
while cradling the bump in his head from beomgyu's outburst and a punch
everyone cheered.
and then no one ever talked about that day again.
CHOI BEOMGYU.
brother just casually drops it in the conversation???
like we don't want the health state of your gut health beomgyu.
especially how much ton you think ended up shitting out.
will actively ruin any and every conversation with his near death experience with diarrhea.
"i almost shit my spleen out, that was such a scary event in my life."
meanwhile taehyun weighing the consequences of telling him that he can't shit his spleen out vs hear beomgyu try to argue that his butthole suction is that strong that he can ACTUALLY do it.
while yeonjun has his head out of the window to clear himself off the me talk traumatic flashes when he was at the apartment the day this had happened and he almost had to take beomgyu to the hospital while his dropping shit like a pigeon.
beomgyu has to be shut down manually because one more word and yeonjun would have flung himself down.
KANG TAEHYUN.
this man will DIE shitting before he let's you know that he also had his bouts with diarrhoea.
biggest hypocrite when it comes to shit talk because man wants to be in everyone's business like an overactive enthusiastic activist like there's nothing to be ashamed about YOUR GUT HEALTH! TAKE PROBIOTICS!!!
except when the matter becomes personal.
will not tell anyone that he's shitting thrice in half n hour and his stomache is feeling its being sucked out and his butt is on fire.
hyuka—oh why are you walking like that taehyun?
taehyun—i was twerking.
contrary to his own beliefs, doesn't take any medicines.
has his squabbles with diarrhoea until it gets better on its own
and then when his ass heals, gets back on his high horse
lies that he takes care of his diet so well that he never had diarrhoea ever
HUENING KAI.
okay he might not tell anyone because nobody asks him about it.
even when he's like running across the house until he becomes a blur to get inside the bathroom like his life depends on it
not a squeak from anyone.
sometimes when soobin would be occupying the bathroom, scrolling on his phone while huening scratching onto the door like
he's gonna explode anytime soon
beomgyu walking by like, " oh wow huening are you cosplaying a cat?"
comes out of the bathroom all sweaty with his bangs stuck to his forehead to the dance practice.
and yeonjun is like, "everyone should be as hardworking as huening."
even when his ordeal is all over
doesn't tell anyone how much he was suffering
when taehyun asks him how does he take care of his food intake that well
huening kai breaking the fourth wall and looking the camera like it's the office.

Important, Gregory House x Reader
(This is my first story on Tumblr, and also my first Gregory House story. English is not my language, technically all of this is Google translate, so I apologize for any mistakes. But I hope you like it, I have a lot of ideas about our crazy doctor)
You love House. He doesn't care about anyone, but he cares about you. That's something, right?
The first time you met Gregory House was at your job interview.
You knew House's fame in the medical field, so your dream was to work with him and learn about his somewhat orthodox methods.
What you didn't expect was to be completely enchanted by the man 15 years older than you. House was moody, irritating, stupid, arrogant. A card-carrying asshole.
But there was something that made you suspicious every time he entered the diagnostic room. However, you weren't the only one.
You were good at hiding your crush on House, but Cameron always let it be known how much he liked his boss and what deeply upset you.
You were nothing compared to Alisson Cameron. Cameron was beautiful, kind, hardworking, confident. Everything you could never be, even if you tried hard.
That's why you shelved your feelings, buried them at the bottom of your chest and tried to hide as much as you could.
3 years have passed since you joined the team, and now with the departure of Chase, Cameron and Foreman, you were the only original member and House became more and more dependent on you. You have now done the work of four people.
And like a good doctor, you did your best to treat every patient who arrived at the department in the best way possible. But it was exhausting you.
The dark circles became increasingly prominent. You were sure you had lost 2kg in that week alone, since you didn't have time to eat and your hair fell out more and more every time you combed your hair.
But it was three weeks after you were working almost alone in the diagnostics department that your body reached its limit.
House and you were discussing what could be ailing an elderly man when he came up with a really interesting theory.
As always, you were sent to do tons of tests, but the moment you got up from the chair, your entire body lost consciousness.
“House” you mumbled the man’s name as you felt your entire vision blur.
"Yes?" The man responded, distractedly analyzing the symptoms chart.
"I think I'm going to pass out" was the last thing that came out of his mouth before the world went black.
•••
You heard the machine beep before your eyes could discover the place around you. It was hard to open your eyes, the bright lights of the hospital room shining brightly into your eyes.
You could feel your throat dry, and the various threads clinging to your body. It was uncomfortable and you tried to adjust yourself on the hard bed.
"I wouldn't move if I were you" House's unmistakable voice sounded in the room and his gaze shifted to the man lying on the bedroom sofa. "Welcome to the world of the living"
“Hi,” your voice sounded hoarse and you coughed, feeling your throat raw.
"Here" House stood up at an impressive speed and handed him a glass of water with a straw. You sipped the liquid with relief, your throat feeling better within seconds.
"How long was I gone?"
"2 days" House limped so he could check his devices. "You were exhausted, dehydrated and malnourished. New diet?" The man joked.
"The patient..." You started to get worried about the man they were treating.
"You're impressive" House looked at you curiously. "I tell you she's a living dead woman and you care about the patient."
“I’m fine” You waved your hand at him.
"It's not what your scans say" He shook the folder in his possession. "Why didn't you tell me that you couldn't do everything alone?"
“Because I can do it” You insisted.
"You're going to have a week off, until you can recover. In that time, I'm going to review some resumes, you need help" House said once again looking deeply at you.
"Why? You don't want new people on the team, you hate change" you tried to argue, knowing what the man was like.
"But I care about you. I think that's more important than my distaste for people" His admission scared both of you, but neither would admit it."Rest, I'll be back in a bit, with something called food"
And with that he left the room. Leaving behind your flushed face and your racing heart.

what were q's issues? i tried to search your blog but tumblr is tumblr
Oh, that's because I never really went public with the extent of his problems. I didn't want to deal with the potential 'just euth him' comments, especially since I genuinely don't think a compassionate euthanasia would have been wrong.
Anyway, his butthole didn't work.
That's the short version.
I'm gonna put a more full history under the cut because it's really gross. Like fair warning. There's a lot of discussion of this cat's butthole, poop, and health issues. If you just want to keep imagining him as a cute little fluffball, maybe go look at his pictures instead.
Specifically, his anal sphincter didn't seem to function. His anus was just open and loose. Whatever was wrong with him ALSO seemed to affect his scrotum. Cats tend to hold their testicles pretty high and tight but his were super loose. I'm genuinely not sure if there's an actual connection there, but it was weird enough that it made its way into my notes about him.
He also had loose stools so he was just kinda constantly dribbling all over himself, whoever was holding him, his bedding, the floor--- you get the idea. He required frequent baths: he'd get a bath at the start of my shift and at the end, at the very least. Most nights had an evening bath as well. That way, he could at least stay somewhat free of excrement. This was terrible for his skin, of course; that's an excessive number of baths. It was just one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations. Considering the alternative was letting him sit in his own waste, we decided that baths were better.
He also wasn't gaining any weight. He wasn't taking in ANY nutrition from his food at all. Whatever went into him seemed to come right back out within a few hours. He was being tube fed for two weeks; he didn't seem capable of eating without grinding his teeth terribly. I genuinely wasn't sure how much sensation he even HAD in his anus until I caught him on camera squatting in a box.
That gave me hope more than anything else did. It at least told me he had nerve endings back there. It was just the sphincter or maybe the last inch or so of his intestine that seemed defective. Since he was such a sweet kitten otherwise, we decided to give him a chance to grow. The plan was to get him to UC Davis or a similar teaching hospital in the hope that they could extend his good intestine and sort of construct an artificial sphincter.
And then he just got over it. I picked him up to give him his morning bath and his butthole was just SLIGHTLY puckered. Over the next few days, I took a series of the grossest pictures in my fucking life and confirmed that his sphincter was sphincting. He started eating voraciously on his own. He started growing. He also stopped tooth grinding-- again, I don't know if this is significant, but it's another thing that made it into my notes.
I have no idea what happened, but I'm glad he's healthy. He just needed time to grow into his butthole or something.

All mine
Warnings: Swearing
Pairing: Spencer Reid x reader
1.02
You had expected Spencer to be in shock, stumble over his words, or be in denial when you told him you were expecting, but instead he focused on scribbling down a calendar on the back of a newspaper. Eventually, he looks up and asks, “Have you had a scan or blood work done yet?”
“Uh no, not yet.”
“Roughly how far along do you think you are? Sometimes the nurses and midwives calculate it from the date of conception or from your last period.”
You’re slightly taken aback by his question; you’d assumed Spencer would have worked it out in his head right away. You stare at him blankly while trying to figure out why he wasn’t freaking out.
“Spence,” he says, looking at you seemingly unaffected while awaiting your answer. It suddenly dawned on you that he might not have realized he’s the father. “This baby is yours.”
Spencer stares at you wide-eyed, in shock, before he finally snaps out of it and says, “Mine.” He freezes and sits with an unreadable expression on his face for a few moments until he’s able to talk again. “The baby is mine.”
You nod.
“We slept together nearly three months ago.”
“I know,” you say, feeling your hands begin to go calmly. He is watching you intensely, as if waiting for you to say something that will magically make the situation better. You feel the blood boil under your skin when you think about the unsub, who was unintentionally targeting the growling life inside you. In spite of the pregnancy being a total shock, you felt extremely protective already. Emotions start to swell inside you. “I’m scared,” you admit. “I’m scared of becoming a mother, of possibly losing a job I love, and of one of my closest friends, and I’m also terrified of what the unsub might do if they find out.”
“Have you told anyone else?”
“Derek knows. I don’t want to tell anyone else yet, not until I’ve had a scan and know everything is okay.”
“How many tests did you take?”
“Twelve.”
Spencer smiles at your comment, his hand finding yours. “Our situation isn’t ideal, but I promise to be there for you every step of the way, but you need to book in with your doctor first thing in the morning.”
“I will,” you nod in agreement. “Until then, we need to keep Morgan quiet and hide that anything is going on from anyone else at work.”
“That will be easy. Hotch, Emily, and Rossi aren’t the most observant people; I’m sure they won’t notice something’s up,” Spencer says, making you laugh.
Although you were terrified, having Spencer confirm he would stand by you made it a little less frightening.
You and Spencer both stare at the small screen with your mouths agape. The sonographer has just confirmed you are ten weeks pregnant with twins. Spencer had called someone who owed him a favor, and within the hour he had discharged himself from hospital care, and you were getting scanned. Throughout the scan, Spencer’s nerves showed as he listed off rare diseases that can be missed on the scan. He didn’t seem to settle until it was confirmed the babies were okay.
“Can we actually have another few copies of those?” Spencer asks.
The sonographer agrees, prints off a few more copies of your scan, and hands it to him. It felt surreal knowing you had two tiny humans growing inside; it also made you more determined to find the unsub soon as possible. You wipe the gel off your stomach and sit up while the sonographer leaves the room to fill in some paperwork, and notice the way Spencer is staring at the black and white picture in his hand.
You put your hand on his back, “hey, you okay?”
“Yeah,” he sighs. “We need to tell Hotch, I know you didn’t want to but seeing this now makes it so real.”
“I know. So what’s our plan now?”
“Well since I convinced Morgan and Garcia to go home, I’m guessing one of the cops will give us a ride back to the safe house. We’ll need to swing by my place first though so I can get some clothes.”
“You’re staying with me?”
He places his hand on your stomach, “I’ve got three reasons to stay with you.”
You twist the ring on your middle finger while nervously standing in front of the rest of your team, trying to find the courage to tell them you’re pregnant. You run head-first into danger nearly every single day, but this was different. You had so much more to lose if the killer found you. That morning you told Hotch, who congratulated you, until you said who the father was, and then he thought it was some kind of trick until Spencer pulled his wallet out and revealed the baby scan picture. Hotch offered to cover for you if you didn’t want to tell anyone else, but given the circumstances and the fact you were only two weeks away from reaching the three-month mark, you decided to tell them.
You cleared your throat; it made you feel selfish for interrupting the investigation, especially when the unsub had already killed three women. You cleared your throat. “I have something to tell you all, so I’m going to just come right out and say it. I’m pregnant with twins.”
Emily is the first to congratulate you; she hugs you and says, “Quinn, I’m so happy for you. I didn’t even know you were dating anyone.”
“Uhh,” you pull back from her. “I’m not exactly…”
She raises her brows but says nothing; her gaze moves from you to Spencer, who places his hand on your shoulder. He smiles awkwardly at her, causing her mouth to fall open. Nobody else seemed to have caught on, but you noticed how stressed out Hotch looked. This whole situation was going to cause him a massive headache.
“And I’m the father,” Spencer blurts out.
The room falls silent until Gracia smacks Derek on the chest. “You knew, didn’t you?”
“Damn baby girl, you’ve got a mean hit, and I only found out last night. Although I didn’t know it was twins.” He shakes Spencer’s hand. “I’m made up for you, Reid.”
When everyone is finished awkwardly congratulating you and Spencer, Hotch explains how the team was to continue as normal while searching for the unsub; the only difference was that you weren’t to go out on the field. He heavily hinted at keeping what they just learned a secret because the moment Erin Strauss finds out, she’ll remove either you or Spencer, which he didn’t believe was in his team's best interest. At least not for now.
Hearing your cell phone ring, you pull it from your pocket and stare at it, confused, before muting the call.
“Do you need to get that?” Hotch asks before delivering the profile.
So far, the evidence has pointed in the direction of the unsub being a white male in his mid-thirties. He’s highly intelligent and possibly had a job within the FBI. He was fired either by his boss, who was female, or because of an incident involving a female colleague, which is why he was only targeting women.
“It’s just my landlord; I’ll call him back later.”
“It’s the fourth time he’s called,” Spencer says, “you should answer the next one.”
When it rings again Hotch nods for you to answer it. You excuse yourself from the room and listen to what your landlord has to say. Shit. It was nothing good.
You step back into the room and say, “I think the unsub broke into my home.”

Chapter 15 - The Haunting
Penelope Garcia looked at the confusing information on her screen with a heavy frown furrowing her forehead. The information wasn’t wrong, she knew that wasn’t possible, but it didn’t mean it made any sense.
On Sunday JJ had gone to try and see Spencer again and had noted he had mail piling up as though he hadn’t been home for a while. She also couldn’t find his car anywhere. On Monday, armed with the information, Emily had reluctantly agreed to let Garcia put out an APB on Spencer’s missing vehicle.
It was now Thursday and the team had just arrived back from a case in Chicago. Still frowning at the screen, Penelope printed the information before hurrying out of her bat cave and down the corridor to where everyone had just returned to the bullpen.
Emily noticed the confusion on the tech analyst's face immediately and frowned as the colourful woman headed her way in too high heels.
“Please don’t tell me we have another one?” Emily groaned, the rest of the team now looking at her.
“Uh not exactly. I, uh, I think I found boy wonder’s car.” She thrust the printout at Emily who took it and scrutinised it.
“What? Where?” JJ was quickly at her side.
“You found his car, but not him?” Tara frowned.
Emily sighed as she looked at the crime scene photographs of an entirely burnt out car surrounded by woodlands. Scanning the notes from the crime scene techs they had discerned the car had once been a canary yellow 1965 Volvo 122S Amazon. The exact same car Spencer drove.
“Where was this?” Emily looked up at Garcia.
“In the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. It’s been there for at least a week.” Garcia whimpered a little.
“What is it?” Luke came closer and plucked the sheet of paper from Emily's hand. “Shit.”
“Someone please share the information.” Rossi encouraged them.
“A car matching Reid’s was found burnt out in the woods near Franklin County, Virginia.” Emily informed them.
“Just the car?” JJ’s panic was evident in her voice.
“Just the car. No one was in it.” Garcia replied.
“Oh thank god.” JJ breathed.
“But that begs the question, where is Reid? And why was his car set alight?” Matt scratched the back of his head.
“And is Y/N with him?” Luke piped up.
Emily exhaled, looking at the report again before addressing her team.
“This isn’t an official case,” she regarded each of them individually. “If any of you don’t want to work this, you don’t have to.”
“We’re not going anywhere.” Rossi spoke for them.
“Agreed.” JJ nodded fiercely.
“JJ and Rossi will head out to the Franklin County crime lab and take a look at the car. Garcia, have a look and see if there are any rental car companies or used car lots within walking distance of where the car was found. We have to assume he’s ok and he would have needed another way home.” Emily instructed them.
“But if he’s not ok?” Tara dared to ask.
“The rest of you start calling local hospitals and see if anyone matching Reid’s description has been admitted in the last week.”
Everyone nodded in agreement at their assignments and started going their separate ways. Luke felt a pang in a gut, similar to one’s he’d been having since you’d called him from the pay phone in Illinois. Something didn’t feel right and he had a sense that it related to Spencer. He wasn’t sure why, but he was fairly certain if they found him, they would find you too.
***
Spencer stared at the light fitting hanging above his head, trying not to let himself get too distracted by the halos of light they created on the ceiling.
His mind wandered over the events of the last week without really meaning to. Since Sunday, when he’d killed Edward Grimes, he’d killed three more times.
On Monday he drove all the way out to Provo, Utah and murdered Burton Maxwell. On Tuesday he’d gone to Rock Springs, Wyoming and slit the throat of Jeremy Powell. Wednesday had taken him to Flagstaff, Arizona to take care of Harrison Baler.
In three days he’d clocked well over two and a half thousand miles in the little blue Nissan and despite all the blood he’d shed he didn’t feel satisfied.
Now it was Thursday and by this point he was exhausted, he couldn’t drive anymore even if he wanted to. Part of the reason he’d kept himself so busy was to limit time spent with you, because he despised the way his heart broke in his chest every time he looked at you. He left early each morning and returned after you were already asleep.
This morning was the first time you’d seen each other properly since Sunday morning and the air between the two of you was so awkward but he tried to ignore it when you found him in the kitchen.
“Oh hi stranger. Didn’t expect to see you.” You tugged at the hem of the oversized t-shirt, trying to cover your bare legs.
“Yeah, sorry I’ve had some business to take care of.” He shrugged, sipping his coffee.
“Right, of course.” You knew exactly what that meant.
“I was planning on hanging around today though, if you wanted to grab lunch somewhere or I could try that cooking thing again?” He shrugged, a feeble attempt at extending an olive branch.
“Uh, I can’t, sorry.” You moved past him toward the coffee machine.
“Have you not spent every waking minute with GI Mountain Man this week?” He tried to remain calm.
“Actually no, I haven’t done much of anything this week. Reading mostly. But then I finished my book so I went into town yesterday to buy some new ones and I bumped into Jesse and he asked if I wanted to spend the day with him.” You grabbed a mug and placed it under the spout of the machine.
“So I’m just old fucking news now right?” He grumbled.
“Spencer,” you spun back to face him with a frown. “I haven’t seen you for three days! You disappear on your vigilante mission without so much as a word and now you expect me to drop everything because you suddenly want to spend time with me?”
“Do what you want. I don’t care.” He spat, leaving a half finished cup of coffee on the counter and storming away.
He hadn’t seen you again after that and at some point he heard you leave the house. He spent a few hours pottering around the cabin but eventually he started to go a little stir crazy and took a walk into town.
He told himself he didn’t mean to go to Scout’s and scope out the checkouts but that was where he ended up. And low and behold he quickly spotted that head of fire engine red hair.
He and Mary got talking and he found out she got off work at six and before he’d known it he’d invited her over.
The noise echoed around the room, the slightly sloppy sounds of saliva and desperation. It had been some twenty minutes now and Spencer didn’t think he’d ever enjoyed a blow job less in his entire life.
He wasn’t even fully hard anymore, unable to maintain an erection due to the inexperienced mouth around his cock. She was trying, she was trying her best and he felt bad. But she just wasn’t very good.
Mary kept glancing up at him, questioning with her eyes what was wrong. Eventually Spencer threaded his fingers into her hair and tugged her off of him. A trail of spit led from her chin to the head of his cock and she wiped the back of her hand over her mouth.
“Am I doing something wrong?” She pouted, kneeling between his legs on the floor.
“I’m just not feeling it, I guess.” He offered her a smile, taking hold of her wrist and pulling her up until she was in his lap.
His large hand clutched the back of her neck and brought her closer to kiss her. His tongue roughly thrust inside of her mouth and she gasped into the kiss.
He started rolling his hips up between her legs, the friction working well to get him standing to attention again in no time. She wore a painfully short skirt despite the temperatures outside and he used his free hand to move her panties aside.
His cock nestled between her legs, already lining himself up when she suddenly pulled back from his lips.
“Hang on, one sec,” she blushed slightly, sliding off his lap and scurrying to her bag.
He knew what she was getting and he tried to not roll his eyes. She was being cautious, he kind of admired that about her. But Spencer was really not a fan of condoms.
She was soon coming back with the little purple packet and kneeling in his lap again. She fumbled in trying to tear it open, a pink hue on her cheeks as she fought with the packaging.
He was losing wood again, and he rolled his eyes, snatching it from her hands and making quick work of ripping it open. He had to pump his cock a few times before he could slip the condom on. He looked at Mary in his lap, her large green eyes full of embarrassment.
I can’t fucking look at you, he thought as he lifted her from his lap again and got her to her feet. She frowned as he led her to the side of the couch and bent her over the arm of it, burying her head in the sofa cushion.
He parted her legs and ran one finger through her folds to make sure she was wet enough for him not to hurt her too much. Pleased she was lubricated enough he lined himself up and soon plunged inside of her.
Mary yelped, jutting forward at the intrusion but he ignored her. He gripped her hips and started thrusting.
He closed his eyes and tried to imagine it was you but she felt nothing like you. He pictured your face, your smile, your beautiful eyes. He envisioned your perfect breasts, your goddamn delirious pussy.
But then he started to visualise your phenomenal body, as you climbed into the bed of another man. He pictured that bearded mountain man between your legs, eating you out, fingering you and then fucking you.
His thrusts were getting rampant and he ignored Mary’s grunts of pain, lost in his own thoughts. His blunt nails dug into her hips as she squirmed beneath him.
What the fuck has he got that I haven’t got? He’d never be able to fuck her the way I do, make her feel the way I do. He’s not better than me, he’s a fucking meat head mountain asshole. No, she’s mine, she’ll always be mine.
“Andrew!” A strangled voice pierced his ears, cutting through his violent thoughts.
He froze and looked down at Mary who had twisted her neck to look at him. Then his eyes cast downwards between their bodies where his completely flaccid cock, sheathed pathetically in the wrinkled condom, had slid out from between her legs.
He took a step backwards, feeling more exposed than he’d ever felt in his life. He angrily removed the condom and tossed it on the floor, tucking himself back inside his jeans and flopping to the couch.
Mary tugged down her skirt before coming to sit next to him. He wouldn’t look at her, he was too embarrassed.
“It’s ok,” she cooed. “It happens.”
“Is that supposed to make me feel better?” He grunted.
“A little.” She shrugged sadly.
“Well it doesn’t. Maybe if you were a better fuck, I wouldn’t have this problem.” He spat harshly.
Mary seemed to withdraw into herself at his words, her bottom lip pouting as he landed that blow to her ego.
“I’ve never had any complaints before.” She huffed, getting to her feet.
“That’s because the men you usually spread your legs for are young and inexperienced and wouldn’t know a good pussy if it was literally sitting on their cock.” He growled.
“Or maybe,” she spun back around, eyes wider than normal. “You can’t keep it up because you’re a goddamn old man!”
Spencer saw red and it had nothing to do with her flamboyant hair colour. He jumped to his feet and advanced on her, causing her to whimper as he backed her into the door.
“What did you say?” He spat at her.
“N-nothing.” She swallowed, her previous bravado vanished into thin air. “I’m sorry.”
“Get out of my house.” He snarled, taking a step back before he did something stupid. “Now.”
Mary whimpered again, quickly grabbing up her things and scurrying to the door like a frightened puppy. He watched her go and when she closed the door behind herself he fell back to the couch.
He was instantly flooded with remorse. None of this was Mary’s fault, he was the only one to blame. He’d pushed you into the arms of another man and now he had to suffer the consequences.
Mary was simply collateral damage in hurricane Spencer Reid’s path.
***
You’d spent the day with Jesse, walking in the sunshine, pursuing bookstores and drinking an ample amount of coffee in boutique cafes. He’d taken you to dinner and then you’d ended up back at his place.
The door was barely closed behind you before he was pushing you back against it and kissing you passionately. Whatever nerves he’d had the other day were well and truly gone now and that was confirmed when his hand slipped inside your pants soon after.
He plunged two fingers inside of you while his thumb rubbed your clit. You moaned against his lips, pushing your back up against the door. He was clearly not wasting any time and you were more than happy with that.
His lips trailed down your neck as he fingered you and you found the bulge in his pants and started stroking him through the fabric. He hissed into your skin, bucking against your hand.
“Fuck, I, uh,” he swallowed thickly. “It’s been a really long time, maybe we can just focus on you for now.”
You giggled, removing your hand from his erection and letting the feeling of his fingers inside of you wash over you.
You were clenching around his hand, your legs turning to jelly beneath you. You gripped his jaw and kissed him again.
“Should we take this away from the front door?” You panted.
“Uh huh, good idea.” He somewhat reluctantly removed his hand from inside your pants and then grasped your wrist, pulling you along to his bedroom.
You fell to the bed and your lips attached again. You helped each other out of your clothes until you were both completely naked. He rolled on top of you, fingers finding their way back between your legs. You looked him up and down and moaned slightly at the sight of him.
Almost every inch of skin on both arms from wrist to shoulder were covered in intricate and colourful tattoos. One continued over and down his chest, stopping just shy of his left nipple. You ran your nails along his ribs where another large tattoo was on display.
“You like them?” He smirked down at you, his fingers working deftly inside you.
“Hmm.” You hummed. “Very sexy.”
He chuckled and bowed his head to kiss you again. You felt his hard cock press against your leg and you were suddenly desperate for him.
“Jesse?” You panted into his mouth.
“Yes, Rose?”
“Please fuck me.” You whined, opening your legs and trying to nestle him between them despite the fact his hand was still there.
He laughed again, continuing to finger you for a few more seconds before he cautiously withdrew his fingers. He knelt over you and reached for the night stand, fishing out a condom. You chewed on your bottom lip as you stared at his hard abs and even harder cock as he ripped open the packet. But he seemed to grow a little hesitant as he rolled it on, hands shaking slightly.
“Fuck, sorry. I’m nervous. Is that weird?” He pulled a face.
“Not at all.” You tried to reassure him.
“I’m really sorry if I don’t last very long.” He positioned himself between your legs and you ran your fingers through his thick beard.
“Jesse, please just fuck me.” You laughed, wrapping your legs around his waist.
He laughed too, kissing you once more as he slowly edged inside of you. He wasn’t as big as Spencer but despite thinking he would be rusty, he certainly knew what he was doing.
He didn’t last all that long but it was ok because he still managed to make you come before he himself was pushed over the edge.
Afterwards you laid side by side in his bed in a mildly awkward silence. You had a feeling he wanted to say something and so you stayed quiet until he found his voice.
“So, uh,” he rolled his head to the side to look at you. “I was married once.”
“Oh.” You replied, not entirely sure what to say to that.
“I met a girl in my freshman year of college and we just fell so fast for each other. We got married when we were twenty one, she fell pregnant two months later. She miscarried really late into the pregnancy and she was never the same again. Her mental health declined day by day, she could barely leave the apartment to go to work. We tried medications and therapists and for a while it seemed to help.
I wanted to try for another baby but she didn’t. No matter how much time passed she wasn’t interested. Our marriage struggled, I really wanted kids. I’m pretty sure we were heading for divorce. We’d been married for seven years when I returned home from work one day and found her in the bathtub with her wrists cut. I can still picture it sometimes, the blood, the lifeless eyes. It haunts me.”
Your chest tightened to the point it was painful as you looked into the eyes of this wonderful man as he told you about his dead wife. He’d told you his relationship history was complicated but you’d not expected that.
“Jesus,” you breathed. “That’s horrible, I’m so sorry.”
“It was a long time ago.” He shrugged. “I didn’t date for a really long time after that, not until I moved back to Butte. I met a woman who ran the Tin Cup Cafe in town and we hit it off. We dated for about a year until she told me one day that it bummed her out that I sometimes said my dead wife’s name in my sleep. She left town after that, I never saw her again.”
“Shit.” You reached for him, cupping his cheek softly in your hand. “When you said complicated I didn’t think you meant this complicated.”
“And to top it all off, now I’m falling for a married woman.” He sighed wistfully.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
“I wish I had a choice.”
“Should I go?” You let your hand fall back to your side.
“I don’t know. I don’t want you to, but if you stay it might make it harder.” He smiled sadly.
“I like you, Jesse, I really do.” You confessed. “But I have no idea how long I’ll even be in Crested Butte for and there is still the matter of Sp…Andrew.” You mentally scalded yourself.
“If it’s just a marriage of convenience, why do you stay with him?”
“It’s…complicated. For lack of a better term.”
“I just told you about my wife’s suicide, I can handle complicated.” He took hold of your hand encouragingly.
“He’s my best friend.” You sighed, trying to pick your words carefully. “Something happened and we had to leave our jobs, our homes. We’re not really married.”
God Spencer would actually kill you if he knew you were telling anyone this.
“What do you mean?” Jesse frowned.
“We wear the rings, we say we’re married. But we’re not. It’s just easier somehow.”
He let go of your hand and looked at you curiously, cogs turning in his head.
“Are you like, in WITSEC or something?”
“Not quite that dramatic, but in a sense, I guess.”
“Is your name really Rose?” His eyebrows furrowed.
“No.”
“Can you tell me your real name?”
“No.”
“So I’m here falling for a woman who I thought was married, but really isn’t and I don’t even know your real name?” He looked at you in exasperation and god how you wished you’d kept your mouth shut. “Fuck, how is that somehow more complicated than my dead wife?”
“I’m sorry.” You rolled your lip between your teeth. “Maybe we shouldn’t have…this was a bad idea.”
He watched you roll over and scrabble to your feet, quickly trying to locate your clothes.
“You don’t have to go.” He spoke but he didn’t sound so sure.
“It’s best that I do.” You dressed hurriedly as he observed from the bed. “Please don’t tell anyone. Especially Sp…fuck…Andrew. Please.”
It made sense to him now why you always tripped over his name, you were hiding his real identity. But he hadn’t missed the look of fear in your eyes when you spoke about him.
“Is he threatening you? Does he hurt you?” He sat up, sounding panicked.
“What? No.” You were quick to answer.
“You said he was a bully.”
“He has a bit of a temper, but he’s not abusive or anything like that. Look, just forget I said anything, please? I really need you to drop this.”
He looked like he might argue but eventually he sighed and chewed on the inside of his cheek.
“Can I walk you home?”
“No, I’m fine, thanks though.” You finished getting your clothes back on and slid your feet in your shoes.
He got up and gave you a kiss goodbye, but his eyes looked sad when he pulled away, stroking back your hair.
“This is over before it really began, isn’t it?” He whispered.
“I think it has to be. I can’t tell you who I am or where I’ve been, or even where I’m going. I’m sorry, I really am. But you deserve better than that.” You smiled sadly at him.
“Friends?” He smiled back.
“For sure.” You nodded, stepping backwards towards the door. “I’ll see you around.”
“I hope so.” He watched you slip from the room and listened to the sound of the front door opening and closing.
You hurried home, finding the cabin shrouded in darkness and thinking Spencer must have gone out, with Mary or to kill you weren’t sure.
You found the used condom discarded on the living room floor and rolled your eyes, knowing you couldn’t be hurt after what you’d spent your night doing. You left it there, it was his mess and he could clean it up.
You headed upstairs, ready to collapse and sleep for a week but as you trudged down the landing you noticed a small sliver of light emanating from under the bedroom door. Tentatively you pushed the door open, worried about what you might find. It was one thing to know he’d slept with someone else, another entirely to have to witness it.
But upon entering the bedroom, you found Spencer alone, curled up in a foetal position in the middle of the bed, still fully dressed. He hugged his legs to his chest and his face was buried into his knees.
The lamp on the nightstand illuminated his face and when he glanced up your heart constricted in your chest when you saw the tear stains on his cheeks. He sniffed and rolled his bottom lip between his teeth.
Wordlessly you kicked off your shoes and shucked off your jacket before padding over to the bed and dropping to the mattress. He straightened his legs and held his arms out which you curled into without hesitation.
He pulled you close, holding you tighter than you’d ever been held before. He buried his face into the crook of your neck and you could feel his scratchy stubble against your skin.
“Please never leave me.” He whimpered, his voice completely shattered. “I’m an ass, I’ve been so terrible to you. I don’t deserve you. But please don’t ever leave me.”
“Spencer,” you wrapped your arms around him as your own tears appeared out of nowhere and started cascading from your eyes. “I couldn’t leave you, even if I wanted to. Partners in crime, right?”
“Partners in crime.” He sobbed, holding you impossibly tighter. “He’ll never love you like I do, you know that right?”
“I know, Spence, I know.” You nodded, burying your head into his chest.
This was how you’d both eventually fall asleep, sobbing into each other's embrace. But something felt different, something had shifted but you couldn’t quite put your finger on what.
Perhaps it was an understanding that passed between you. You’d been fighting each other this whole time, pushing each other away as though that somehow might make this whole situation easier. If you weren’t so in love with one another, life would be so much simpler.
But falling for Spencer had happened without rhyme or reason and even if he never planned on catching you and you fell flat on your face, you would love him regardless.
Maybe he was right, Jesse never would love you like he did, maybe no one ever would. Certainly no one would understand the things you were capable of the way Spencer did. And that was both calming and haunting all at once.
"Come on in, boy" said the skeletons,
Sitting by her closet door.
Dirty secrets, empty memories,
And broken hearts across the floor.
I was knocked out, heels over head,
So you dragged me by my feet,
To a ghost town, where you buried me,
No wonder no one heard my screams.
Love's so alive, but it died in it's sleep,
And now that it's dead,
I live in your head,
And I will haunt your fucking dreams.
No one will love you like I did,
Will treat you like I did,
So go on, wear that scarlet letter.
No one will love you like I did,
Will touch you like I did,
So good luck finding something better.
Run away, boy, if you couldn't tell,
Baby's got a thirst for blood.
A subtle system, wicked melodies,
Craving bullets from her gun.
So I tripped, stayed, follow every word,
Little spirals in their eyes.
Catch a lover, turn an enemy,
Just to watch them burn alive.
No one will love you like I did,
Will treat you like I did,
So go on, wear that scarlet letter.
No one will love you like I did,
Will touch you like I did,
So good luck finding something better.
Someday you may find that picture perfect guy,
And I'll chase my words with poison.
Until that day arrives, and swine take to the sky,
Fill your void with open thighs so.
No one will love you like I did,
Will treat you like I did,
So go on, wear that scarlet letter.
No one will love you like I did,
Will touch you like I did,
So good luck finding something better.
No one will love you like I did,
Will treat you like I did,
So go on, wear that scarlet letter.
No one will love you like I did,
Will fuck you like I did,
So good luck finding something better.

Officially Outnumbered
Summary- You give birth to your and Jack's third baby. Paisley and Olive meet their little brother.
Tumblr media
When you were pregnant with Paisley and Olive, you gave birth both times around 38 weeks, so now that you were one day past your due date, you were impatient, but mostly uncomfortable. Jack was doing everything he could to make you more comfortable, but there wasn’t much he could do.
“Mommy?” Paisley asked climbing onto the couch next to you.
“Yes Paise?” You asked.
“When do we get to sleep over at Uncle Urban’s house?” She asked and you laughed softly, resting your hand on your bump.
“Soon baby, remember as soon as your brother decides he wants to come out of my tummy you and Olive get to go to Urban’s house while me and Daddy go to the hospital.” You told her and she nodded, reaching out to poke your tummy.
“You can come out now, I want to go sleep at Uncle Urban’s house.” Paisley sighed dramatically.
Olive came running out of your and Jack’s room, Jack following quickly behind her.
“Mommy, can you do a bun?” Olive asked you and you nodded.
“Of course, come here.” You told her and she nodded, handing you her hair ties and brush. Jack sat down next to you.
“You sure you don’t want me to do it?” Jack asked Olive and she nodded.
“I’m sure.” Olive told Jack before she sat in front of you.
“I tried to get her to let me do it, I’m sorry.” Jack apologized to you.
“It’s okay, I don’t mind.” You told Jack as you put Olive’s hair up into a bun. Olive thanked you before running into her room to play, Paisley following her.
“How do you feel?” Jack asked, placing his hand gently on your bump.
“Like I want this baby out of me.” You said and Jack laughed softly.
“He must be comfy in there.” Jack said, feeling him move, making both of you laugh. “You better not be getting more comfortable in there.” Jack joked.
“I hope not. I’ve never been this pregnant, and I never want to be this pregnant again.” You joked.
As the day progressed, you started to feel some minor contractions, but as you started to time them you realized that they weren’t regular yet. You told Jack but didn’t think about it otherwise.
Jack was going back and forth between trying to keep the girls entertained and checking on you. Paisley and Olive were playing in the living room, you and Jack were sitting on the couch watching them when you felt the most painful contraction you had felt all day. Jack held your hand and rubbed your back as you had the contraction.
“Mommy are you okay?” Olive asked, you had been trying to hide any pain you had felt from them, but that contraction was different.
“Yeah, I’m okay Olive.” You told her and she nodded going back to playing. Jack looked up from his phone.
“Contractions are like 10 minutes apart; we should have Urban come pick up the girls now.” Jack said and you nodded.
“Do you want to go put the bags in the car and I’ll call him?” You asked.
“I already put the bags in the car when you started feeling contractions.” Jack admitted.
“Nervous?” You asked and Jack nodded. You knew when Jack got nervous, he would over prepare for everything, or at least prepare as soon as he possibly could.
“I don’t think I’ll ever not be nervous.” Jack said, resting his hand on top of your belly. “We’re going to have another baby. Our first boy.”
“I love when you’re sentimental, but can we be sentimental after you call Urban, before I have another contraction.” You said and Jack laughed softly.
“Yeah, I’ll go call him. I already told him to be ready when your contractions started so he should be here soon.” Jack said before going to call Urban and grab the last minute things the girls needed for their sleepover.
Within 20 minutes Urban was picking up the girls, you and Jack telling them that they were going to be able to meet their little brother soon, which both were excited for. Right after Urban left with the girls and as you and Jack were about to leave for the hospital, your water broke which made your contractions more painful.
Jack was driving, doing his best to help you as he drove.
“I’m never doing this again.” You said once a contraction had ended.
“You said that when you had Paisley.” Jack said, causing you to roll your eyes but also laugh.
“Yeah, I guess I did, and we see how that turned out.” You joked.
Luckily the drive to the hospital was short, once you parked Jack helped you out of the car before getting the bags out and you both made your way into the hospital, stopping once when you had another contraction. You and Jack were immediately led to labor and delivery where you were given a room and checked by a couple nurses before being left alone with Jack.
“Do you need anything?” Jack asked and you shook your head.
“Well, yes, this baby out of me, but for now just sit with me.” You said and Jack nodded, moving his chair directly next to the bed, holding your hand.
Jack didn’t leave your side the whole time you were in labor, comforting you was his only priority. Every time you had a contraction Jack would lean over so you could bury your head in his neck, and he could rub your back while he whispered encouraging and sweet things into your ear.
You had been at the hospital for a couple hours when you were told it was time to push. You pushed six times before you heard a cry. You looked up at Jack, both of you tearing up. Jack leaned down to kiss you.
“We’re officially the parents of a baby boy.” Jack smiled, kissing you one more time before pulling away as the baby was laid on your chest, Jack brushed some of your hair out of your face before both of you put your attention on the baby.
You and Jack spent the rest of the night focused on the baby and letting you rest. You made sure to facetime the girls before they went to bed to say goodnight and let them see their brother, they had stayed up passed their bedtime to do so, but the next morning Urban brought them to the hospital so they could officially meet him.
“Remember, you have to be quiet, your mom or your brother might be asleep.” Urban reminded the girls and they both nodded before Urban opened the door to your room. Both girls made their way to your bed where you were laying and Jack was sitting on the edge of your bed, the baby laying in Jack’s arms. Jack carefully handed you the baby, not wanting to wake him up. Olive and Paisley ran over to Jack, instantly hugging him.
“Daddy!” Olive yelled and Urban reminded her to be quiet. Jack hugged them back.
“Hi Liv and Paise.” Jack smiled at them. “Want to meet your little brother?” He asked and the girls nodded excitedly.
“They can come up here.” You told Jack.
“You sure?” He asked and you nodded. Jack helped the girls onto the bed, reminding them to be careful.
Paisley and Olive said hi to you before looking down at the baby in your arms. Olive reached out to touch the top of his head while Paisley reached for his hand.
“He’s so little.” Paisley said and you nodded.
“I know, he’s tiny huh? He has to be to fit in all the baby clothes we picked out.” You said and she giggled.
“Do you want to hold him?” You asked and Olive shook her head, she was scared to hold him. “Do you want to help me hold him?” You asked and Olive nodded, resting her hand on his back.
“Do we get to take him home?” Olive asked and you nodded.
“We do, we get to bring him home tomorrow.” You told her and she smiled.
“I love him.” Olive said, you teared up and Jack wiped away your tears.
“I want a turn.” Paisley said.
“Okay, you can both take turns, let Daddy help you, okay?” You told Paisley and she nodded. Jack took the baby from you and Urban helped Paisley off the bed so they could go over to the couch so Paisley could hold the baby for the first time.
“How are you feeling?” Urban asked you, Olive cuddling into your side, remembering to be careful.
“Like I just had a baby.” You joked, Urban laughing softly. “Go look at his crib.” You told Urban who gave you a suspicious look before walking over to the crib, seeing the babies name written inside the crib. Hayden Wyatt Harlow.
“Wait, you didn’t.” Urban said, you and Jack watching him. You had kept the babies middle name a secret from Urban, something that you hadn’t done with the girls, which looking back he should have had an idea what you were doing, but he didn’t.
“We did.” Jack smiled at his best friend.
“You’re the whole reason Jack and I got together in the first place, so we thought it was the least we could do.” You told Urban. Urban would never admit it, but he started tearing up. Urban gently hugged you and then hugged Jack.
“Well, thank you, but I think I deserved the first name.” Urban joked, deflecting how emotional he got.
Paisley, Olive, and Urban spent a few hours at the hospital meeting the baby before Urban took them back to his house, while Clay and Jack’s parents came to meet the baby later in the day.
