this podcast is pretty entertaining. Ashley Greene is incredibly Likable, if not Lovable, and now I realize how much she really did bring a lot to the table for Alice. She has a very inviting persona, which does help keep me watching. Her co-host Melanie Howe is just great, and incredibly hilarious, she is definitely the perfect representation for the Twilight fandom. In this show we have perspective of someone who was a fan, and someone who was a star.
It's very engaging, hearing them talk about the world of twilight. It so nice to have more Twilight content with the original cast of the movies, seeing them all together again really does warm up the heart my inner tween and outer fangirl melt, whenever I hear them talk about twilight, especially with glee.
Seeing the cast really get raw about their experience, how they felt before, during, and after Twilight. The cast members really tell How they felt about their characters, what they did to bring the characters to life, and how that affected their life? And what I love the most is that she includes the fans, seeing others who are still very much into twilight is always great. I really wish this had been ongoing, i very think it could've have still went, especially for a very long time, there was so much to go over, the Books, the characters, so much.
The biggest issue I have with this podcast is that they didn't get 100% raw and deep. And what I mean by that is…. I think a majority of us know that a lot of things about twilight and in twilight are very problematic, many things are done to characters that are not okay, many things happen that are not right. I wish that they would've really talked about that more, there is nothing wrong with constructive criticism. I was very upset that they did not talk about how Edward and Jacob treat Bella, why was imprinting a thing, why did Charlie allow Bella be the maid of the household, why didn't he confront Jacob when he kissed Bella, the treatment of the pack, and the Quileute Culture, etc.
This podcast was not perfect but neither is twilight. 7/10
Look at those babes! 🥰 You never hear Nikki talk about Twilight anymore (as she has grown and that’s okay) but it was nice to hear her discuss things from back then and share some memories with Ashley & Melanie. Rosalie got a lot of hate but it’s been great during the twilight renaissance to see people give Rosalie the love and respect that she’s deserves. I can’t ever see anyone playing Rose but Nikki. Also her mentioning Kellan 🥹 (I will never not be happy about anything where those two are involved - breadcrumbs? - YES PLEASE).
It's Danny's first time doing his taxes, and he's reaching out to an online friend to help him.
This is how he discovers that as far as the rest of the world is concerned, Amity Park is a barely contained zombie outbreak.
He'd made an online friend, Bart, and they played video games a lot.
Danny's fulltime job is inventing alongside his parents, and as that makes him self-employed (he doesn't work for his parents just next to them), this makes his taxes a little...scary. And it's his first tax season.
He reaches out to Bart, and asks if he knows anyone who files as self employed and if they'd be able to give him some guidance.
He can't ask his parents because, apparently, they've just been throwing random numbers on the papers and have no interest in actually doing them. Danny would like to do this properly.
Also he would like to know how his parents haven't been arrested? Questions for later.
So he shoots a message to Bart, who's apparently in the middle of some sort of sleepover with all of his old friends. Bart assures him that it's fine, and they'll all pitch in to help.
They just need to know his city and state so that the nerd of the group, some guy named Tim, can look up local state and city tax law.
When he tells them he's from Amity Park, there's no response for a good ten minutes.
What follows is a barely legible request for a phone number to call, and a group of people on the other side shouting and asking how he's avoided dying in the hellscape zombie apocalypse that is Amity Park.
Danny has no idea what the other shit means, but he's not about to dodge a chance to make a dead joke when he has one.
"I mean. If you wanna get technical, I didn't. Is...that something that'll effect my taxes?"
OR: The GIW has been lying to keep the Justice League and Justice League Dark out of Amity Park by declaring it a Disaster Zone, stating that not only is there massive pollutants in the air and soil, but that the undead run rampant and are barely contained.
The wording they use, however, is a little weird upon closer inspection.
It never specifies zombie, and it never says what pollutants.
Danny's not super interested about that, though; he just wants to pay his taxes so that the IRS doesn't kill him in his sleep.
You know that Twilight interview? Did you notice the comment made at the very beginning? He says people threw things at him in the street when was recognised as Aro (or something like that) and she says “isn’t that about your personal life decisions” !!!!!!!!!!! I mean…..she’s not wrong.
Oh, I did notice that, Anon. I absolutely, definitely did notice that, and boy, do I have some thoughts. First, a few gifs:
What immediately came to mind when I saw this is that Michael must definitely be close with this Ashley chick, because I can’t think of too many other people who could say this to him and get away with it. We know how notoriously uncomfortable Michael has been about people discussing his personal life (i.e, AL) over the last few years--let alone discussing it himself (though strangely enough, he seems very comfortable talking about whatever throuple/”other wife” thing he’s got going on with David and Georgia).
But what’s also interesting is that earlier in this very interview, Ashley congratulated Michael on the “new addition” to his family, and he politely glossed over it and barely said two words in response, seemingly continuing his habit of not ever talking about his personal life (for any number of reasons). Yet here, just moments later, this comment gets made and he seems incredibly at ease with it, laughing it off in a way that I don’t think he would with anyone else.
And like you said, Anon, she’s not entirely wrong. Not that people have actually thrown things at Michael, so to speak, but there have been a lot of comments levied against him by the press in recent years regarding the whole situation. Not to mention the continued fanning of the flames on Michael (and Georgia’s) part of the aforementioned relationship with David, which...if the intent was to distract away from all the awkwardness around AL, I’m not sure it was all that successful.
In any case, it is curious to see that brought up in the context of this podcast at this time (and most especially given that AL seemed to be right there in the room when this was happening). It brings to mind all of the weird shit Michael said during various interviews in the months leading up to the pregnancy announcement back in March, and how those comments seem to give more of a look into his state of mind than the announcement tweets themselves (in both instances).
I am planning to make a longer post with a timeline of said comments, though, so I will save my additional thoughts for that. But I hope folks do check out Michael on that Twilight podcast, because it really is quite something to behold. Thanks for writing in, Anon! x
Rewatch podcasts done by the actors and actresses from the show or movie are so weird because a lot of times they’ve only seen the thing once so when diehard fans listen to the show they expect them to have all the knowledge they would and sometimes that’s just not fair to the actors because they know the show or the movie from a very different stand point than we do
