What fans say:
The Lorax:
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse:
It had a very big impact on meme culture. And a really catchy soundtrack. Plus it has the silly sexy green man. What more could you want from a film.*
The Once-ler and the let it die song. This movie is glorious.
It is legit the mother of all great animated movies nowadays. From Mitchells vs the machines to the new mutant mayhem movie! The plot is so good and you can really see character development from almost all of the characters, plus the designs are BANGER.
THE MUSIC?? TOP FUCKING TIER. THE CASUAL DIVERSITY? IT ALSO HAS LITERALLY THE BEST SHOT IN CINEMATIC HISTORY (Miles rising after taking his leap of faith)
BRO THE ANIMATION IS SO SICK. The amount of sheer effort put into this movie is insane. The character growth was so amazing to watch and such a great movie to analyze. Best scenes are obviously the leap of faith. Actually gorgeous. And also the scene where aunt May sees Peter b after her Peter died. Her “you look tired, Peter” is just so heartfelt
Where the hell do I even start. The visuals are incredible and the plot is engaging. Every scene is perfect.
This film has EVERYTHING. Humor, action, inspirational scenes, kickass music, absolutely killer animation, an art style that is an homage to comic books, loveable characters, a talking pig, DR OLIVIA OCTAVIUS, I could go on
This is the best superhero movie ever made, the leap of faith is one of the best movie scenes of ever
The animation style is better than all the others, and makes the movie funnier too! The representation is also good, and the romantic storyline isn't too prevalent in the movie. Probably the best animation Marvel has made. My favorite scene is when the villains show up to Aunt May's house -- its my favorite fight scene!
I’m sure this movie’s been submitted already because it’s arguably the greatest animated film of all time. I have a personal connection to it because I saw it in theaters on opening night with my late father, and we both loved it and I still do. The animation is revolutionary and it’s one of the only 3 movies that make me cry.
gsksvbsvsbsvs I love everything about it, I love the animations, the story, the soundtrack also the style of animation AAAAAA its so beautiful its art it belongs in a museum i get goosebumps everytime I rewatch it
It’s just so good. All the characters are amazing and I love Miles dad. It’s hilarious and sparked my love for spider-man. It’s such a sweet movie about finding yourslef and has such a powerful message. I totally recommend it so I’m not adding spoilers, but like. Ohhhh, it’s so good.
Interesting villains, well-developed character arcs, a fresh take on Spider-Man, unique use of animation, funny, good use of multiverse that adds to the nature of the story being told, complicated character dynamics
It's the best animated movie because A: it takes one of the most well known comic characters of all time, kills him off in the first few minutes, and then shows you every cooler version of him. B: Has a large amount of representation in its main cast, considering that they're all versions of Spiderman, and that requires a white guy by default. C: everything in it is so well done I can't pick a favorite scene, but the most iconic is the jump off the skyscraper window.
The animation is incredible, the movie has so much story and heart, and there’s a perfect balance between humor and seriousness. And the soundtrack slaps
This is probably the best animated film I've ever seen. The animation is definitely the highlight, the way they blend comic book art styles and 3D animation is an absolute joy to look at and is so overwhelmingly creative, every frame of this movie is gorgeous. The impact this had on the industry is undeniable, as we start to see more and more movies getting more creative with their animation styles. It's not just the animation though. All of the characters are entertaining, all of the jokes land and the story is really well done. It leaves me blown away every time I watch it.
This movie kind of changed the western animation industry from the ground up. Apart from being expertly written, funny, and heartfelt, it is also stellarly animated, with a unique visual style that takes direct inspiration from the comic books it adapts and mixes 2d- and 3d-animation in a way and to a degree that hadn't really been seen before in western mainstream. Its critical and monetary success paved the way for mainstream 3d animation to open up to new and excitingly stylised movies that were like a breath of fresh air between the generic Pixar-style animation that had been the largely unchanged norm in the industry since Toy Story circa twenty years earlier**. ITSV divides the screen like panels on a comic page, it uses dots and lines for shading and gradients, doesn't shy away from lowering framerates for stylisation, and makes liberal use of onomatopoeia, both to comedic and dramatic impact. Impact frames and SFX are often hand-drawn and stunningly colourful, and even the simple dialogue scenes astonish with an expressiveness and realism in their depiction of emotions that makes me rewatch a two-second scene of Miles laughing fifteen times in a row. My favourite scene has to be the What's Up Danger scene, the emotional climax of the movie. Set to an absolute banger of a song, it is the moment the entire film has been building up to. I won't spoil anything plot-wise in case you somehow haven't seen this movie, but both from an emotional and a visual standpoint it is Fucking Dope. Conclusion: Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse is my favourite movie of all time and I could talk about it for hours. If you haven't seen it, go watch it. Thank you.
Have you SEEN the Whats Up Danger/rising and falling scene? it's a work of art that makes me fall in love with storytelling all over again whenever I see it. Also the impact that it's had on animated film is absolutely being felt at current, if incrementally. Incredible film.
It has an amazing art style based on comics and mixed up due to genre differences. It's really fun and the characters are great, even the side ones. The story line is great and I love Miles and his family.
*Mod note: errr, quite a lot more than memes and music actually
**Mod note: amen

My take on the ow voice headcanon (Japanese dub edition)
Most of them are taken from sample clips, and it's more like "they could play the role" than "they do play the role", actually none of them make sense
Iggy
Definitely an “every protagonist these days” type voice, but not “a hero in apprentice” kind of one
Which means you can dig down the large mine of actors, and you must dig down the large mine of actors
So I think it’s fine
Genzou
Forget the “crackly” part. The market doesn’t have the section and everyone sounds like a photoshopped skin
It was hard to find someone who can play a chubby man and sounds deep but doesn’t sound like seven-foot tall, not young but doesn’t sound like sixty years old (or actually sixty years old)
The VA is quite versatile, and this clip is the only sample of him acting in a thick-deep range
Orlam
I was looking up a sample of a lowered, naturally high-pitched voice with a squeaky tone, and I found the latter clip. I thought it’s neat and checked the other samples of the VA
He’s telling a dirty joke in the former clip, and in one of the other clips that isn't included in the video, he says, “It’s hard to date only one woman" "I have a European-styled philosophy. There's only two important things in life: wine and women” I burst out laughing
Gidget
An upper-middle-range voice in non-anime is a lower-middle-range voice in anime
The VA plays a lot of boy roles, and in the latter clip she’s acting as a boy or acting very boyish, so the voice could lean toward androgynous
Bucks
The VA did Katie from Mitchells vs. Machines, which is a rare example of a female protagonist who keeps the same tone as the original, and her sample clip has what I needed
Hunar
I think Hunar’s voice sounds a bit deep (for an anime standard) and has some maturity
Cecil
Sounds clear and handsome, an every protagonist type but “acting in deeper range” kind of voice, like, you know
Jerry
I chose a legend because I think it’s okay to make rabbits sound old
The clip is taken from Jujutsu Kaisen because his sample clip doesn’t have his iconic squeaky falsetto

ADHD vs Autism Bracket: Summary (Round 1)
Round 1 has officially come to a close, with some outcomes that really surprised me!!
Despite sweeping so many polls before mine, Kris and Susie fucking DIED? Right off the bat. But maybe that just goes to show how iconic Phineas and Ferb are, there is truly nothing neurotypical going on in that show.
Another surprise to me was the Ink!Sans and Error!Sans VS Cuphead and Mugman matchup. Although the former received 20+ nominations and Cuphead less than 10, this ratio flipped the other way when it came to the actual polling!
Many of my personal blorbos have fallen in battle </3 Aja and Krel barely stood a chance, but having them has been a pleasure. I am once again recommending 3Below! I was also surprised by the number of polls in Side B that nearly got 50/50, but all the winning duos managed to scrape by even if it was just by 2-3%
Going forward, Side A and Side B polls will go live at the same time. Round 2 will probably begin on Friday (to give myself time to update the graphics) and will be posted around the same time of day as Round 1.
Under the cut is the updated bracket and the duos that will be going head-to-head in Round 2. The pinned post will also be updated with this information:
Tumblr media
Side A
Matchup 1: BTW Creature & TBH Creature (The Internet) VS Wylan van Eck & Jesper Fahey (Six of Crows)
Matchup 2: Keith Kogane & Lance McClain (Voltron: Legendary Defender) VS Gomez Addams & Morticia Addams (The Addams Family)
Matchup 3: Aaron Mitchell & Katie Mitchell (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) VS Dewey Duck & Huey Duck (Ducktales)
Matchup 4: Gideon Nav & Harrowhark Nonagesimus (The Locked Tomb) VS Jay Walker & Zane (Lego Ninjago)
Matchup 5: Luz Noceda & Hunter Noceda (The Owl House) VS Kyan Reki & Hasegawa Langa (SK8 The Infinity)
Matchup 6: Phineas Flynn & Ferb Fletcher (Phineas and Ferb) VS Luca Paguro & Alberto Scorfano (Luca)
Matchup 7: Tommy Coolatta & Benrey (Half-Life VR but the AI is Self-Aware) VS Zuko & Sokka (Avatar the Last Airbender)
Matchup 8: Ty Blackthorn & Kit Herondale (The Dark Artifices) VS Reigen Arataka & Kageyama "Mob" Shigeo (Mob Psycho 100)
Side B
Matchup 1: Percy Jackson & Annabeth Chase (Heroes of Olympus) VS Mondo Owada & Kiyotaka Ishimaru (Danganronpa)
Matchup 2: Michelangelo Hamato & Donatello Hamato (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) VS Sonic the Hedgehog & Miles "Tails" Prower (Sonic the Hedgehog)
Matchup 3: Phoenix Wright & Miles Edgeworth (Ace Attorney) VS Sunny & Kel (Omori)
Matchup 4: Dipper Pines & Mabel Pines (Gravity Falls) VS Denji & Asa Mitaka (Chainsaw Man)
Matchup 5: Troy Barnes & Abed Nadir (Community) VS Craig Tucker & Tweek Tweak (South Park)
Matchup 6: Brett Hand & Raegan Ridley (Inside Job) VS Usui Nagi & Furesawa "Fret" Tosai (The World Ends With You)
Matchup 7: Sans & Papyrus (Undertale) VS Spock & James T. Kirk (Star Trek)
Matchup 8: Zim & Gir (Invader Zim) VS Cuphead & Mugman (Cuphead)
With some of these matchups, Round 2 promises to be even fiercer than Round 1!! I hope everyone will continue to have fun and enjoy the voting process.

Dunno what kinda of movies you like but here you go.
Horror: Wolf Creek. Backpackers getting murdered in the outback of Australia kinda inspired by real murders that happened.
Not horror:
Grand Budapest Hotel. Very stylistic (cause wes Anderson ) but also just a really fun story. Mostly love it for the visuals and the dialogue makes my brain happy with how it's delivered. Very snappy.
Flying high/aeroplane (it has different names depending on the country) has super dry humour and some of my fave jokes in any movie. I reference it a fair bit. Parody film basically but from like the 70s/80s
Muriel's wedding: classic story of an outsider finding her place and trying to not be a loser. Not my fave ever but a pretty iconic movie most people should watch at least once if you haven't already. Has some pretty good disability rep too!
Mad max fury road: one of my fave movies ever. Very action heavy but shot beautifully and the women are all bad ass.
Mitchells vs the machines: inventively animated and the family dynamic is fun with good humor. Kinda reminds me of gravity falls which is a great tv show
(Another great tv show is over the garden wall. Beautifully atmospheric and complete. I have a google drive if you want to watch it for free)
Also anything by monty python (especially holy grail and life of Brian )
Sorry these are very random suggestions but I was trying to think of things you probably haven't seen. Let me know if there's a genre you like and I can maybe get more specific?
Thank you for reminding me of Wes Anderson because I forgot I was supposed to rewatch Fantastic Mr. Fox ahaha
Yes thanks for all of these! Muriel's wedding sounds like something good for now 🧡 the rest for later
(And btw the entirety of Over the garden wall is available on cartoon network's yt channel with PL dub, how very kind of them)

Ashly Burch’s Contribution to LGBTQ+ Representation
Tumblr media
Four of Ashly Burch's roles, all of which are canon LGBTQ characters
Recently, Ashly Burch, a well-recognized voice actress, singer, and writer, came out as pan and queer. Taking into account this development, I decided to examine some of her past roles and offer my thoughts on her contributions.
Reprinted from The Geekiary, my History Hermann WordPress blog on Feb. 11, 2023, and Wayback Machine. This was the forty-eighth article I wrote for The Geekiary. This post was originally published on July 30, 2022.
On July 1st, Ashly Burch came out as pan and queer, saying she is "old fashioned pansexuals". She added that this is not a shock because half the characters she plays are "members of the rainbow fam" and added more in a longer thread.
Burch has added herself to the list of other LGBTQ+ voice actors who have voiced LGBTQ+ characters in media. There's Anna Akana, a bisexual actress of Japanese and Filipino descent. She recently voiced Sasha Waybright in Amphibia and Daisy in Magical Girl Friendship Squad. Both characters are bisexual.
A non-binary actor, Iris Menas, has voiced non-binary characters in various Disney series. Ian-Jones Quartey, a bisexual creator, has voiced various characters, including Radicles "Rad" in his series, OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes. Abbi Jacobson, a bisexual actress, voiced a bisexual princess named Bean in Disenchantment. She also voiced a lesbian woman named Katie Mitchell in The Mitchells Vs. the Machines.
In many ways, Burch is definitely a queer icon. Apart from her video game voice roles, live-action roles, commercial roles, and dubbing roles, there are five roles that stand out to me. This article focuses on those roles and their significance in LGBTQ+ representation.
Ash in Hey Ash Whatcha Playin'
Tumblr media
Ashly with her beauties in Season 1 - Finale Part 1 of Hey Ash Whatcha Playin'
In May 2008, the series Hey Ash Whatcha Playin' first premiered on Destructoid. It would garner tens of millions of views. The series used surreal humor and sibling rivalry with her brother Anthony. Each episode focused on video games, and their themes, trends, and societal impacts. In 2011, the series began airing on YouTube. Papa Burch, Burch's actual father, and Ashley "Leigh" Davis, who becomes Anthony's girlfriend, also appear. Guest stars include Burch's mother and many others.
Many episodes had queer themes. One implies that Burch had sex with sex workers. In another, she says things can be "really gay" when everything becomes male genitalia. The icing on the cake was when she struggled with the homophobia exhibited by Orson Scott Card, whose ideas inspired the game, Shadow Complex.
In the show's second season, Anthony had gay sex through a message board. Ashly asked her dad for help with "lady problems" (i.e. liking a lot of women). Some episodes had Ashly joking about how brains are "gay" and defending her brother as a person who doesn't bash gay people. Others included dildos, Papa Burch coming up with imagined gay scenarios, or defense of female characters.
One episode stands out from the lot, the one where Ashly says she likes pretty girls and runs away when she sees a girl she likes. Later episodes have Ash loving a female villain-of-sorts or portray her losing her cool when people use the word "lesbians".
Enid in OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes
Tumblr media
Enid (left) and Red Action (right) in an episode of OK K.O.!
Burch is known for her role as Enid Mettle in this action-adventure-comedy animated series by Ian Jones-Quartey, Rebecca Sugar's husband. In the series, Enid is a bisexual woman previously in a relationship with Radicles "Rad". She is later Red Action's girlfriend.
Enid has a key role in OK K.O.! as a witch and a ninja all in one. She also fights villains and works at Gar's Bodega. Burch has voiced Enid in almost all her appearances apart from the original pilot. She has been the subject of much fan art and over 700 fan fics.
Somewhat like Enid is Lainey in Loud House, who Burch also voiced. Lainey is dating another character, a woman named Alice. Unlike OK K.O.!, Lainey only appears in two episodes. In the former series, she becomes very romantic with Red Action, a lesbian character voiced by actress, comedian, and model Kali Hawk.
Ash in Final Space
Tumblr media
Evra (left) and Ash (right) in an episode of Final Space
Burch is less known for her role as Ash Graven, who has the same first name as her. In the series, Ash is a humanoid alien who strikes up a romance with Evra (Jasmin Savoy Brown), a genderless being, in the Season 3 episode "Forgiveness". They sit together in a romantic moment, watching lights that resemble the aurora borealis.
Before this, she says she hates a man named Jordan Hammerstein with all her guts. This hints that she is a lesbian rather than  "ambiguously bi," as I noted in my review of the series. In that review, I noted a podcast where show creator Olan Rogers confirmed Ash as an LGBTQ character. At the time, Rogers said he would expand the relationship between Evra and Ash if he had another season.
Ash is only one of the many LGBTQ characters in the series, although the others are recurring characters rather than protagonists. Unlike Enid, she becomes an antagonist, and villain, akin to Cassandra "Cass" (Eden Espinosa) in Tangled. She is a character as complex as Cass while both are exploited by someone else who plays on her trauma triggers.
Rutile Twins in Steven Universe
Tumblr media
Rutile Twins (right) brings Lars and Steven to the Prime Kindergarten where Off Colors are hiding out in their debut episode.
In a little-known role, Burch voiced a non-binary Gem fusion named Rutile Twins in Steven Universe. She later said she was "extremely honored" to be on the show. Unlike the other characters she voiced, these characters are non-binary women, as are all Gems as Rebecca Sugar confirmed in a 2018 article. So that makes this character unique beyond any others mentioned in her resume.
In an interesting trivia, since Burch voices both components of the character, they have the same voice, but with different tones. The same is the case for the Amethysts, all voiced by Michaela Dietz, or all the Rubies voiced by Charlyne Yi. Real-life rutiles are said to help with the stabilization of emotions and relationships. They reportedly evoke romantic feelings and aid with handling past trauma.
The Rutile Twins are outcasts who are part of a group of Gems ostracized by society, the Off Colors. These Twins later join Lars Barriga, and the other Off Colors, traveling through space, and living on Earth. In Steven Universe Future, the Off Colors graduate from Steven's school for Gems, known as Little Homeschool.
Molly in The Ghost and Molly McGee
Tumblr media
Andrea (left) and Molly (right) in the "Andrea Song Takeover"
Burch voices a lead character named Molly McGee. Unlike her other roles, Molly is half-Thai and half-Irish, like Burch in real life. The series incorporates Thai culture into storylines and helps educate viewers about Thai culture.
In The Ghost and Molly McGee, Molly befriends a ghost named Scratch after moving to the Midwestern town of Brighton with her father, mother, and brother. Also appearing in the series is Molly's grandmother. She meets many friends there. This includes a Latine and Jewish girl named Libby Stein-Torres (Lara Jill Miller). She also has a geeky friend Sheela (Aparna Nancherla) and a sweet pink-haired friend, Kat (Eden Riegel).
Although Molly is not a canon queer character, some fans have shipped her with her frenemy, Andrea Davenport (Jules Medcraft), with their ship being Mollandrea. Others have shipped her with Libby Stein-Torres, with their ship called Mollibby. This ship has been denied by Bob Roth, a show creator, who said that LGBTQ representation unfolds naturally in the series.
Closing thoughts
There are many other characters Burch has voiced or played since her career began in 2007. She voiced Josette Grey in Blackford Manor and Tiny Ghost in Chainsaw Richard. She offered her voice as Lila Twinklepipes in Pig Goat Banana Cricket, Meadow Springs in Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, and Miss Pauling in Expiration Date, along with others in Over the Garden Wall and We Bare Bears.
She is further known for voicing Bun Bun and Breezy in Adventure Time, Ridley in Glitch Techs, and Cass Wizard in Bee and PuppyCat. Recently, she played Rachel in Mythic Quest who is in a relationship with a Black woman named Dana (Imani Hakim).
Many of these roles aren't canon LGBTQ+ characters. However, since Burch came out as pan and queer, this could lead to new interpretations of these characters. Burch was also a writer for "Shadows at the Gates", the fourth episode of The Legend of Vox Machina, a mature animated series filled with LGBTQ+ characters and based on the Critical Role podcast.
In the end, Ashly Burch will likely continue to voice queer characters, working with other such actors to continue improving queer representation in media.

Have you heard of...
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES - MUTANT MAYHEM
Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver will be combining their creative minds to bring us a reboot of one the most beloved action packed cartoon juggernauts on the market. TMNT! The film is to be directed by Jeff Rowe (Mitchells vs. the Machines) and Kyler Spears (Amphibia). Set to be released in theatres August 4th 2023 and animated mainly by the talented Mikros Animation (Paw Patrol: The Movie, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie) as well as Cinesite Vancouver (Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank).
“The Ninja Turtles franchise is edgy, offbeat, and humorous, and the Mikros Animation team is ensuring we were doing justice to bringing the beloved turtles to big screens,” says Adrianna Cohen, global head of production at Mikros Animation. “The filmmaker’s vision was to introduce the characters through modern animation that maintains the fine balance between visually appealing and realistic. Focusing not just on craft, but also performance, it’s our job to develop the unique personalities of each of these iconic characters, whilst staying true to the 1990’s nostalgia that the franchise holds.”

Why Top Gun: Maverick Is The Best Picture Of The Year
And it's not just because as Steven Spielberg said, "Tom Cruise saved Hollywood"
The story of an older man, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a US Air Force fight pilot living in an increasingly technologically-driven world that threatens to make him obsolete. He’s bet his whole life on his military career honing his skills and living his principles even when they cost him advancement in his professional career, and the most important relationships in his personal life. Now working as a test pilot flying the fastest aircraft known to man, this is Maverick’s final assignment.
youtube
Outside of his life as a pilot in the Navy he has nothing else in his life. He’s not married. Has no loves in his life besides flying. And the surrogate son from whom he is estranged, a young pilot himself who is the son of Maverick’s best friend and navigator, “Goose,” who died in a plane Maverick was piloting. Maverick blames himself for his death, as does Goose’s son, who has avoided having anything to do with Maverick for several years. Maverick’s future is bleak and at the start of the movie it feels like the end for him.
But, like the wily, courageous, insubordinate pilot he is Maverick pulls off one more successful mission and proves the worth of the experimental high speed plane he is flying, and his worth as a pilot. Avoiding what seems to be the end of his career with high flying bravado, Maverick finds himself with one more mission.
He is to return to the place where his career began. Fighter Town USA, and the Top Gun school. Maverick has been assigned to teach a team of young untested pilots how to pull off a dangerous mission.
From the moment he arrives Maverick is confronted with the ghosts of his past, many of who still reside in Fighter Town USA, (San Diego). Old girlfriend Penny Benjamin (Jennifer Connelly). Former wingman now Admiral of the Navy, Tom “IceMan” Kazansky, (Val Kilmer), plus a new commander, in the character of Jon Hamm, who does not think much of Maverick’s and what he sees as his antiquated antics.
The reason I believe Top Gun: Maverick is the best picture of the year is because it manages to pack so much of what makes a great story and a great movie into a single film. To begin with, it transcends its legacy as a sequel as does Tom Cruise in his second performance playing “Maverick.” It is reminiscent of Paul Newman reprising his iconic role as “Fast” Eddie Felson in “The Color of Money,” an amazing movie that also surpasses its original film, “The Hustler.” Like The Color of Money “Top Gun Maverick” taken on its own merit is a superb movie. Had there never been a first “Top Gun,” “Maverick” on its own succeeds as a standalone movie.
First and foremost it is a compelling character study of a man contending with the challenges of growing older, professionally and personally.
Secondly, there is an aspect of the movie “Maverick” as a modern fable. The legend of John Henry versus the steam engine. Much like that legend, Maverick’s final mission in the movie sets him up for the ultimate man vs machine showdown. His commanders want to go with drones. Maverick must prove that only skilled pilots such as he and the other Top Gun graduates can pull off this dangerous mission. Complicating thing is that among this squadron of pilots is his One of those pilots is his surrogate son, Rooster, (Miles Teller).
Already bearing the pressure of training men and women for a mission they may not return from, now looming over him is the fear of past tragedy repeating itself. Will Maverick’s actions get Rooster killed the way Maverick still believes they got Goose killed in the past? This infuses the story with so much more stakes than if his responsibility was simply the lives of the other ten pilots.
Maverick must also navigate his rekindled relationship with an old flame, this time learning to check som of his youthful antics in order to make way for a meaningful, connective, relationship with a beautiful woman who’s also been around the block of life enough to know what she wants, and to not waste time on men with whom she has no future. Will Maverick rise to the challenge?
Without giving away too much of the movie — SPOILER ALERT — the movie answers that question with the right mix of charm and thoughtfulness.
As for his final dangerous mission, Maverick and the other pilots pull it off in a nail-biting sequence that doesn’t simply finish with a final decisive victory. Rather, Maverick must make the decision to sacrifice his own life for that of his “son.”
However, as this is a Hollywood movie doing what they do best, Maverick’s still has one life left. Rooster swoops in, and returning the favor, saves Mav. So, the father saves the son and then the son saves the father. And all is forgiven. Unfortunately, their rekindled relationship looks to be short-lived as they’re both stuck behind enemy lines and about to die.
Which sets up the final act of the movie, in which the father and son, old and young, must work together to make a daring escape. The cherry on top is that they do so in one of the now utterly antiquated F-14 fighter planes that Maverick first flew when he was in Top Gun as a student, and his whole life was a ahead of him. The symbolism in this is rich. But, more than that, because this is after all a movie, the final act is a kick ass cinematic thrill ride that sees the good guys win and Maverick and his son, Rooster, win the day.
Everything Everywhere All At Once, is a wonderful delightful movie. “I put my mom in the Matrix” as one of its writer-directors, remarked last night from the podium at the Academy Awards. No doubt, making for a great movie with superb performances and incredible visuals. However, Top Gun Maverick is stuff Hollywood is made of. Not only is it the biggest blockbuster of the year, and a testament to both the appeal of the last true movie star in Tom Cruise, but also to the joy of experiencing a movie in an actual theater.
Modern fable
Compelling character study
Father-son drama
High-octane action thriller
Hollywood blockbuster
Best movie of the year.

How about something with switches Dipper and Pacifica? Maybe Pacifica sees Dipper and Mabel having a tickle fight and the next day she tells Dipper she’s never been a part of one before so Dipper decides to have a tickle fight with her. Be sure to stay hydrated and have a great rest of your week 💖
