Sandman March Mania: Winner Announcement

This is it, everyone! Since March 25th, you voted every day. Four rounds, 24 amazingly talented artists who qualified, and each time one of them had to go, it hurt a little.

But we didn’t do this because we truly see these artists in competition with each other. Our goal was to get to know them better, share what moves us about their art, also have fun with the… weird depictions and generally just acknowledge:

The Sandman wouldn’t exist without them.

They all gave us unique and wonderful interpretations of Dream (and not just Dream) and we’re so grateful for all of them. So without further ado, here are your winners (are you surprised?):

That’s us. We want to thank all of you who joined us over the past four weeks, because that’s also what this event was about: Something everyone can participate in. You didn’t have to write fanfic, you didn’t need to support a ship, you didn’t need to create art. You could just bond with other people over your favourite thing if you wanted to. Or simply vote.

And although we normally wouldn’t do so, we decided (after some agonising) to be annoying and tag @neil-gaiman in this to share what a small corner of fandom came together for over four weeks: To engage in, and bond over, art appreciation. We thought you might like it or think it was a silly thing to have a bracket match, or maybe both at once. But either way—we loved hosting it and joining in!

Thanks again everyone, and who knows, we might see you all again next year for something equally manic with a different topic.

like an Avengers level threat snap. like a power overload snap.

the kind of snap where our character is so angry or stressed or both that all the power of all four circles just EXPLODE within them that they can't contain it anymore.

the keepers realise how much pressure they've put on literal older teenagers/young adults. of course, they don't turn down the pressure, no. they blame our character for not dealing with it properly.

17. Piercings You Want

I'm planning on getting an eyebrow piercing as a birthday/graduation gift to myself in June (my graduation from my SFX program is literally the day after my birthday). Aside from that... maybe a helix or an industrial in one ear and another set of earlobe piercings, but I mainly want tattoos more than piercings. I'm still not entirely sure.

How did Eliška and Rocket decide/realize they wanted to be partners? Did they feel connected immediately or did it take time? Was there a specific event that made them realize it, or did it happen gradually?

Good question! Something I am still taking time to figure out, but I think I have enough to give you enough of an answer for now.

I think it took time. So a slowburn (pun not intended) I think it took a lot just for Rocket to join the Guardians aka his new found family. So for him to have a different (arguably closer) relationship with Eliška, was kind of a challenge. Mainly because Rocket is a very emotionally closed-off person. (Which obviously we know why)

And Eliška is closed off too, but in a slightly different way? Or not as much?

I'm not sure exactly when they realized they wanted to be partners... maybe around the time of Infinity War/between Infinity War and Endgame. But I think their bond started around Vol 2.

I'm not sure they even put the qpr label on it until a bit later. (Simply because they didn't have the language for it) and instead, Eliška would usually describe them being like soul mates or partners in crime/thick as thieves.
