Spiderverse is a comic
Mitchells Vs The Machines is a sketch book
The Bad Guys is a cartoon
Puss In Boots is a digital painting
I’m loving the more artistic approach to 3D animation, and how each movie that utilizes the method does so in a different way with different inspirations behind it. Keep it up!

More movies like into the spiderverse, mitchells vs the machines, puss in boots the last wish, etc where it looks like the animators are having fun and just showing off their skills

To all the people who say that these films are copying and/or ripping off Spider-verse because they have similar animation styles:
PLEASE SHUT THE ACTUAL HELL UP.
It legitimately aggravates me when people say that this art/media is copying this other art/media just because it committed the oh so heretical act of having common elements. Like when people say that "The Owl House is ripping off Amphibia because they have similar premises", or that "this cartoon art style is generic because bean mouths" or some shit.
As a person who still trying to grow as a digital artist, I know for a fact that creativity is not simply just conjuring up something completely different from everything else out of thin air. It's about taking certain elements and qualities and arranging and reassembling them in a way that's unique.
There's no denying that Spider-verse was nothing short of revolutionary when it came to its animation, but even though the above 4 films clearly have many things in common with Spider-verse (and each other), they each still have many other qualities and subtleties that make their animation styles stand out on their own.
In the end, all I'm saying is that just because this art/media is similar to another does not automatically mean it's less creative.

how come next gen didn't get as much hype or attention as big hero 6 or mitchells vs the machines or nimona did. i think that's unfair. they're all really good movies. also they all have some sort of robots in them, which is fucking awesome

I am absolutely obsessed with the Definitely Not Disney style of animation that other studios have been doing recently
Animation is art and therefore should have variance in styles

hiii ik everyones saying this but i absolutely LOVE the new style that animation has been taking recently
i LOVE how unsmooth and blocky and liney the art is its SO aesthetically pleasing to me
like nimona, the bad guys, puss in boots, mitchells vs the machines, the new tmnt movie and ofc the one that started it all, the spiderverse
and even better they all turned out to be amazing heartfelt movies
bc you can tell just with the amount of work that goes into that type of animation that the artists and storyboarders (and whoever else is needed to make a movie idk) actually care about what theyre making
instead of the souless tired copy paste format disney has been doing.
im not a huge fan of cgi animation in general but i like this kind because it still feels like it has some elements of 2D handdrawn animation if that makes sense
i get so happy when i see a new animated movie and it has this sort of ‘messy’ (affectionate) style to it it makes it look so much more alive and interesting and real (and like actual art) and im so happy more studios are following in that direction
