Some headshots of what I'd think the Mitchells would look like a few years into the future, with a few OCs scrambled in.
As this is for a project, these likely won't be the final designs for them, but I'm actually quite liking some of the designs.

Here are 8 color keys I did for a sequence in the Mitchell’s vs the Machines. i don’t think I’ve posted these before. This is from near the end of the movie, you might remember the “dog, pig, loaf of bread” moment. In most cases, color keys are done over un-textured final layout models. Assignments like this come at the end of the visdev schedule in a production. The color is based on a color script, which in our case was done by color wizard Dave Bleich . Depending on the production, it’s usually not important for the characters/specific objects to be fully rendered out in a color key, since mostly what you are trying to communicate is the color and value of a scene which is then matched in the lighting phase by the CG team.

I drew this a few months ago and I still find it funny!
For context, they were kicked out of Olive Garden after K. Rool acts greedy with breadsticks and Big and Monchi were upset with him.
Do not steal, trace, or anything!

“You know how to say ‘I missed you’ in elephant language?”
A year or so ago I was remembering the Bob the Builder special A Christmas To Remember. When doing that, I just couldn’t help but compare the story role of Bob and Tom’s toy elephant, Jumbo, with that of Rick’s wooden moose in one of my all-time favorite movies, The Mitchells vs. the Machines (I gave that moose the fan-nickname of “Gulpi” by the way, considering the elephant had a name).
Firstly, both toy animals symbolize the connection (ba-dum-tss) that the main pair —Bob and Tom on one hand, Rick and Katie on the other— had on the past. They also symbolize that said connection, no matter how far away one of them might be in the present (whether at the North Pole or at film school), will still be present among the two pairs.
On another note, Jumbo and Gulpi are also presented to the viewer in similar ways. When they first appear in a video recording, one thinks they're just a simple toy (case of the elephant) or an object that a main character has just forgotten about over the years (case of the moose, as Katie first thought of giving it away forgeting how it had helped her back at camp). However, when they appear on another recording later, the view towards them changes drastically: an accident with Jumbo led to Bob conning his famous “Can we fix it?” phrase and Rick took Gulpi as a reminder of the wooden house he had to sacrifice in order to raise Katie. In other words, both elephant and moose represent objects that, at first, don't seem to be that relevant story-wise, but become so via a revelation done through recordings.
It was based on the previous thoughts that I made these two memes, which I publish here before Christmas comes to a close these days.
Oh, and before I forget, both Mitchells and A Christmas have another similarity. The two have renowned Mexican voice actor José Antonio Macías (known for voicing James in Pokemon, Captain America, Bert in Sesame Street and many other characters) doing a secondary role. In Mitchells, he's Mark Bowman, and on Bob, he's non-other than Elton John.

The Mitchell's Vs The Machines is a great movie that you should all watch. Honestly one of my favourites from last year.

Not to be like that, but this looks like a rom-com about an "alpha man" who falls in love with the geek who won't shut up about his niche fixations.

Transfer chief Monchi on 'nuts' Unai Emery and the Aston Villa puzzle
Villa transfer chief Monchi has affectionately branded Unai Emery “nuts” and claimed he is now a better boss than the one who led Sevilla to three straight Europa League titles.
The pair enjoyed huge success together at the Spanish club and were reunited last year when Villa appointed Monchi president of football operations at Emery’s recommendation.
Villa have been transformed since Emery, known for his demanding and meticulous approach, was appointed in October 2022 and sit third in the Premier League.
Monchi worked with Emery when Sevilla won the Europa League in consecutive seasons between 2014 and 2016. He told La Liga TV’s Talking Football show how his fellow Spaniard has become an even more accomplished manager since.
“I’ve been lucky to have worked with him twice,” said Monchi. “He’s nuts! In 2013 we started at Sevilla in January and had three and a half wonderful years. Now I’ve been with him for six months (at Villa) and he’s evolved for the better.
“The Unai at Sevilla, who was already great, now the Unai at Aston Villa is even greater, and it’s because he was able to adapt to the times. To grow. Not just him, but being surrounded by professionals, building a wonderful working team.
“He’s maintained the good things and been able to learn from his weaker points and these are the results.”
Monchi is one of 11 Spanish members of staff in addition to Emery at Bodymoor Heath, with the head coach having assembled a large backroom team.
He believes Emery’s willingness to canvas opinion but also identify the biggest keys to success is one of his greatest strengths.
“If you want to go fast, go alone,” said Monchi.
“If you want to go far, go together. Unai wants to go far. I always say that, in life, you have to try to surround yourself with capable people, because you can’t complete the puzzle alone.
“For a puzzle you need people’s help, because it’s really big.
“The key is to clear the smoke. A football match generates about eight million data entries – they’re not all useful.
“If you want to improve corner kicks you don’t care about throw-ins, or about centre field horizontal passes.
“You have to find the data that’s the signal and avoid the data that’s the smoke.
“That’s an important job and the more qualified people you have, the better the performance.
“The fundamental, main figure is the boss, Unai. And the rest of what we do is trying to help him so that he’s focused on the work.
“That’s why Unai is the most complete coach I have ever worked with.”

One day, as I was surfing IG, I came across a deleted scene for "The Mitchells vs. The Machines" uploaded by Guillermo Martinez , the movie's head of story. It was an alternate version of the Mitchells' fight with the giant Furby. Instead of Rick having the idea to mimic his possum trap in order to defeat the Furby, Katie would have suggested her family to stand on top of each other. That way, Aaron could throw a bag of unpopped popcorn on the toy's beak so as to explode it from the inside. You can find a link to that scene as a highlight story in my account. When discovering this deleted scene , the first thing that came to my mind was the fairy tale "The Bremen Town Musicians (or "The Musicians of Bremen" as it's also called), which had its four animal protagonists doing the same as what the Mitchells would do initially. Excluding the popcorn bit that is; the animals actually made a lot of noise in order to scare a bunch of robbers away. P.D: Thinking about the similarities between Bremen and Mitchells, I wondered: "What if the Mitchells took the roles of the animals in the story?". Thus, I have written a fanfic based on that idea that you can find on my Deviantart account "rodrickart17" under the name "The Mitchell Musicians of Bremen". You can check it out if you are interested.
