#the fandoms I've drawn for weren't that many

Note
It's not necessarily that imho. May just be because of the super intense feelings at the moment. Maybe it's because they've never kissed each other, and it's different (I'm thinking Ed and Stede's kiss, because Stede had never kissed a man before but Ed had, and slept with them too, he just wasn't in love with them the way he is with Stede). Sure, it could mean they just weren't interested in anyone else so why bother (since they're open to an ace or grey ace interpretation).
(Also I don't mean to tell you what to do or say but that... Was maybe not the best phrasing. The "pure" thing equated to not having sex and the "ruining them". I don't think that's quite what you meant but a lot of people, myself included, who have religious trauma and are in the fandom have already pointed out, back during S1, how harmful the idea of sexlessness or abstinence equating purity or making them "better" is, when people were writing fics about one of them, usually Crowley, being morally better and purer because they didn't have sex. Again, I don't think that's what you meant but it's a topic one has to phrase carefully. I mean, it triggered me and I've read your stuff and know about your past hcs and know you don't think sex is bad, so...)
Also does this mean your nsfw pdfs are gone? I still want them (mostly I've been holding off on a few of them because they were very angsty lol and I wasn't in a good mental space for that, but I really really want the cute one in the 18th century). I mean probably not, but better to ask...
My personal read is more along the Stede and Ed situation plus the high stakes. There were others but never any they loved as much (again that's my hc and I've never had issue with the "they only slept with each other" hc, just if it was a question of what would be the equivalent of waiting for marriage because it's the "right" thing)
No, my “pure” meaning was different. I’ve drawn them making love so many times (and I’ve nothing against sex, as you well know) and that’s totally ok. They can have the experiences they want in the future when S3 will be out, I’m sure things will be okay for them (❤️). Mine statement is just what I’m thinking right now, right after seeing that scene. They’re “pure” not because they haven’t had sex or whatever. That’s just pure love. It’s beautiful. It’s way more beautiful that whatever NSFW content I’ve ever seen or drawn or imagined. But of course that doesn’t mean I will never draw NSFW content with them again. I’m just trying to say how much I loved that kiss and how Neil wrote it. It’s (to me!) so much better than a first passionate kiss. Maybe later they will make it better, they will demonstrate their love for each other in a different and more passionate way… I don’t know. But the first one. The first one had to be like this. They’re not human beings, they are two creatures who love each other and I love that.
Btw of course my NSFW GO content will continue to exist! 😉 sorry for being confusing, I’m just trying to express how I feel after that powerful scene!

☕️ + the Scooby Doo fandom in general
Hmm okay so this is a very broad question to me and that really means it's going to recieve a broad answer, especially to me as "Scooby fandom" really has differing levels in my heart etc.
For example with my friends and the smallish community of fellow Scooby fans I've found here on tumblr (the Scooby Dootuals!!!) I really love and like! Everybody is so nice and it's cool that people have various levels of knowledge about different series and iterations. Like I really enjoy that on here Scooby fans (as in, like my friends and people who regularly post scooby) have such differing levels of experience with this huge huge franchise as it makes it so much more interesting. Like we have people out there who have seen almost every episode (or feels like it) and can seemingly remember the smallest of things from them, and then we have people who weren't into Scooby as a child but are exploring it now, and then we've got people (like me) who did like it as a child and kind of know a bit of everything, with huge areas of weakness in Scooby they haven't seen, (for me APNSD, anything more than the premise of 13 Ghosts, the 80s trio minus Boo Brothers, anything past s1 of bcsd, much of the 70s era movies, SD & SD, Guess Who, SDMI details, like the list goes on, people!!! I've only seen a Scooby series in order in its entirety one time in my life and that was SDMI age like 12) while also having a few areas with greater knowledge or familiarity and a few spots where they just know a ton/are constantly rewatching. (Me with Goes Hollywood for sure) anyways I don't really remember where I was going with this but uhhh I like that my buddies and whatnot all know different amounts with many being chill or knowing a little bit of everything so we can still like each others posts and talk about Scooby with there still always being so much more to discover <3. So like basically thoughts on the besties are that besties are cool
However I know anon that by sending this you likely mean "Scooby fandom" as in people outside of this insular little bubble so let's talk about that. I think I'm reluctant to really label this group "Scooby fandom" as for ME PERSONALLY fandom really means a kind of engagement with the work beyond what most general Scooby fans do. Like what I'm trying to say is that this group of "wider Scooby fandom" liked Scooby and watched it as a child and consider themselves a fan of Scooby but they aren't rotating Scooby characters like blorbos in their mind too much. Or if they are, it's generally in the creation of like dark!Scooby aus or the live action Scooby show pitches that blow up on here every time Scooby is a topic of general coversation. I guess for me personally the line between this "Scooby fandom" and my own little bubble of people I'm chill with gets drawn based on what fans want out of Scooby. Like do they love Scooby as it is, or do they want to change the audience to create a new Scooby for themselves. Hm, I'm not really phrasing this right. What I mean is like we're all Scooby fans. If you've ever liked Scooby, at any age, however long ago, you're a Scooby fan, I'm not trying to like, gatekeep Scooby fandom or whatever. I just think that differing groups of fans have different pictures in their head of both what Scooby Doo IS and what they want from it based on their familiarity with it and how long it's been since said fan has watched Scooby.
And that's kind of wherein my frustration with "wider scooby fandom" lies. It's really in the fact that there's thousands upon thousands of these "sleeper fans" (which in my mind is really a better term for it) who awake when I or the popular culture mention Scooby, to share their opinions. And these opinions just frankly drive me up the wall. This is because when confronted with a real life Scooby fan (me) there's generally 3 things they want to talk about: 1) SDMI and how it's the greatest thing since sliced bread 2) Doesn't HBO Velma suck 3) (once they learn I like Scrappy) Scrappy hatred and copious references to his portrayal in the Gunn Movies. Plus MAYBE a bonus 4 of other miscellaneous takes that get on my nerves (stuff like Shaggy always smoking weed, Fred and Daphne splitting up together to have sex, just all sorts of things I do not for the life of me want to talk about).
So I guess my take on the wider scooby fandom is as follows: there are positives like some genuinely funny SD posts once a blue moon, or people to share things like concept art and leaks to much of the content canceled by HBO Max, but the vast vast majority of the time it kind of gets on my nerves because people always want to talk about the same few things (which I feel have been talked to death already or I highly disagree with OR BOTH) and it's just really tiring to deal with. Idk I don't think I'm going to go into it to much more here because this post isn't too coherent to begin with (I'm blaming it on like 70% of this being written before work this morning) but there's so many people out there who think so similarly about Scooby (and SO differently from how I think about it) that it feels like I'm getting talked over constantly whenever I have a discussion about Scooby with someone from this group. And that's just like not fun for me? It's just like for me, Scooby Doo is my number one thing. Like I'll be in different fandoms concurrently or whatever and I don't really read fic for scooby but I will for other stuff etc. But like scooby is always there for me like MY MAIN turned into a scooby doo blog like honestly while that's just not the case for some other people. It's very much a difference in the value and time put into the franchise, (which like you can just like things casually that's not a bad thing) it's just that it's frustrating for me talking to sleeper fans about Scooby because I get trapped (literally, like irl) in the exact same conversation that I don't even want to be having(!!!!!) pretty much all the time.

A few bad but fairly typical P&P takes got me thinking about ... Mako from Legend of Korra, actually, and also, just fandom dynamics.
Many of you weren't in that fandom (or perhaps any fandom) back when LOK aired, but I was very active in it. I actually liked—and still like—some aspects of LOK better than ATLA, and I certainly liked the fandom better than ATLA's.
That said, LOK fandom was still less a dumpster fire than a landfill explosion. To this day, I couldn't even identify the single character who got hit the hardest by LOK fandom's approach to discourse, which like most fandoms today, painted a thin veneer of social justice over good old-fashioned stanning/ship wars, but did it much more transparently.
In any case, if I were going to try and pick the character who got hit hardest by the LOK discourse truck, Mako would at least be in the running. The later days of LOK fandom can give the sense that the basic ship war from Day 1 was Korra/Mako (Makorra) vs Korra/Asami (Korrasami). But my strong impression back when the first book aired was that the ship war dynamic was much more Korra/Mako vs Korra/anyone-but-Mako.
There were plenty of not-Mako options. Korra/Bolin was pretty big for awhile. Korra/Tahno had a substantial following during/after Book 1—Tahno was the waterbender from the rival pro-bending team who got curb-stomped by Amon. There was, of course, Korra/Asami (seemed like no chance in hell at the time, but sweet). It was even a good fandom for hero/villain shippers like me.
I think a lot of this activity ultimately coalesced around Korrasami. But at the time, it hadn't quite happened yet. The fandom was wanky (sorry, discourse-y) about virtually every character, but a lot of people really, really, really hated Mako in particular—Mako haters could encompass people who liked or hated the first season, people who loved or hated Korra, people still mad about Zutara, whatever. I didn't like him at the end of Book 1, myself, though I couldn't buy into the screeds about how abusive and exploitative and otherwise problematic he supposedly was.
Since I didn't actually have much of a stake in the main ship wars, I've always found this dynamic more interesting than anything else in terms of fandom behavior, because I've seen it happen many times, but I hadn't often seen it at the level that Mako hatedom took it to back then. So I was thinking about how this happens, and the particular way it happened with Mako back in the aftermath of Book 1.
Early in Book 1, Mako is revealed to be a tragic, brooding orphan with a slight edge trying to support his sweet-natured younger brother and himself through a mixture of industrial work and magic sports. He gets swept off his feet (literally and metaphorically) by a beautiful, very cool, very rich girl (Asami) and enters a romantic relationship with her, only to feel increasingly drawn to his beautiful, very cool, very powerful friend Korra, our heroine.
Some people pointed out that "which awesome and hot girl do I choose :( it's really hard :( :(" is not the most sympathetic quandary for a character to be in, and for the target audience, particularly unsympathetic coming from a young man. And the choice to repeatedly cut from shippy Mako/Korra moments to Asami looking upset didn't help (especially since Asami lost almost everything when she chose to stick with them and turn on her father). And Mako's eventual apology to Asami was genuinely a bit underwhelming—it's basically "mistakes were made."
And, yeah, those things are true. But fandom is not always so OTT hostile about the man in that kind of love triangle taking awhile to get his shit figured out, even when the man is much older than Mako, a literal teenager. Like, I never thought I'd compare Avatar to Bridgerton, but the Edwina-Anthony-Kate dynamic seems roughly similar and most of the fandom came away from it really invested in Anthony/Kate and sympathetic to them. It depends on the fandom and on the depiction.
It's not that Mako didn't screw up in Book 1. It's that the reaction—he's an awful person for pretty ordinary missteps and some poor relationship choices, he's an abuser, he's the worst character in the show, whatever—just seemed wildly disproportionate.
And also, yeah, overreacting to minor misdeeds and reducing a character to ultra-exaggerated versions of their worst selves out of sheer annoyance is a fandom staple (especially when the misdeeds take up as much air as the early LOK love triangle seemed to for many people, with other aspects of the story crammed into limited space). But the extent of the hatred still struck me as rather extraordinary, especially since he seemed to go from reasonably well-liked to feverishly hated in a short period of time.
My theory after B1 aired was that this really came from the intersection of a fandom that was very prone to this kind of exaggeration and poor faith readings with the actual structure of his characterization in B1. We quickly discover his tragic past with his parents being murdered, and that he's been struggling on the streets, and has to look after a cuddly but clueless brother who doesn't seem to get the urgency of their problems. He uses his prodigious lightningbending abilities to make just enough money in a sort of magic power plant to get by in combination with pro-bending successes. Essentially, we're given far more than the minimum required to sympathize with him and tolerate the occasional asshole moment.
But later on in B1, a lot of his characterization and scenes are directly tied up in the love triangle, and many of his original, somewhat more ... pressing concerns, end up getting pretty much resolved in one way or another. So a lot of those original sources of sympathy that were so concentrated in his early scenes are no longer a concern, while others are no longer being emphasized by the narrative.
And it's certainly the case that Mako was much less widely and disproportionately hated later on, at least in my fandom experience. Some people still hated Makorra with a passionate fire, but Mako himself seemed much more endearing to many people once the narrative dialed down the love triangle, explicitly paid attention to his loyalty as a friend, his basic heroism, his close yet sometimes difficult relationship with his brother, and a certain adorkableness that was not absent in B1, but which wasn't as heavily emphasized.
I don't mean to argue that this later narrative treatment was necessarily better, but I do think the more even distribution of sympathetic qualities or revelations about him alongside his flaws made him much more palatable to a lot of the fandom. It's like people ... just kind of forgot why many of them originally liked him unless the narrative went out of its way to remind them.
This is really long, but I did feel that B1 kind of overplayed its hand with Mako early in the season, and then underplayed it in the later parts of the season, and fandom being fandom, people enormously overreacted to their sense of what was going on in that phase of the story (for many: ARGH!!) and not all the information they actually had.
This isn't a hill to die on for me, exactly. It was just how I saw what was going on—this kind of toxic mix of fandom bullshit with some peculiar choices in the structure of his characterization and what got emphasized (or even mentioned) where. That is still my general impression, though—that the fandom's response wasn't coming from nowhere, but that we were getting this kind of intersection of a fandom even more prone than most to over-reaction and poor faith assumptions + some genuine oddities in structure and emphases in his characterization during that first season.
What does this have to do with P&P? Well, I'll get to that. But this post is honestly long enough already, so I'll do the follow-up tomorrow, probably.

i 100% get what u mean abt sandman being more mature than shadowhunters - not just that sandman is more... gritty (?) but that there's a lot more experience/thinking about things, maybe? that in sandman, the characters have a lot more depth & deal with a lot more grey moral questions? & are allowed to make mistakes and deal with the consequences...
also yeah shadowhunters fics are often quite a bit more mature than shadowhunters canon, maybe because it's fun to take the not-very-deep characters from canon and make them more complex (and more mature)... i feel like sandman is what fandom has made shadowhunters into, yk? like, i don't think shadowhunters fans are drawn to sandman because sandman is similar to shadowhunters, it's because dreamling is what the fandom has made malec into. the number of people who left shadowhunters to enter the sandman fandom is hilarious xD
(side note: do you plan to return to shadowhunters in the future? because although i have (like you) become obsessed with sandman, i do love how you write malec... no pressure, just wondering if you see that as a possibility)
yeah after writing that i thought about it for a while and figured out that what i meant by maturity is exactly what you say, complexity and nuance. sandman as a story deals with more nuance than shadowhunters, and the fandom is far more capable of grappling with it than sh fandom was - there was... some tendency in sh fandom towards black and white thinking, perhaps, trying to shunt characters into 'good' or 'bad' categories, lack of interest or unwillingness to engage with the grey, or with character dynamics that weren't easily definable as 'healthy' or 'unhealthy'. (there are so many character dynamics sandman fandom likes to play with that would make sh fandom freak (not in a good way) 😂). just like sandman itself is more mature, the fandom is also far more mature
you're so right there are many parallels between malec and dreamling esp when it comes to what fandom likes to explore for malec. there are so many i once made a silly little venn diagram for my own amusement
Tumblr media
there are definitely even more but i ran out of room XD
hmm never say never 😂 i mainly want to finish the fics i've already started, particularly Leviathan, which is personally important to me as a story. so, hopefully i'll get that done at least

Under the moonlight
Warning : Fem!Reader
Word count: 1005
Fandom : Harry Potter
Characters : Reader and Lupin
Notes : Remus my favorite werewolf !
Tumblr media
As Professor Remus Lupin walked down the corridors of Hogwarts, he couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over him. He had been a student here many years ago, and now he was back as a professor. The castle hadn't changed much since his time as a student, but he had changed quite a bit.
Remus had always been a bit of an outcast at Hogwarts. He was a werewolf, and he had to keep his condition a secret from everyone except his closest friends. Even then, he had spent most full moons locked up in the Shrieking Shack, trying to keep himself from hurting anyone.
But there was one person who had always been kind to him, even though they weren't close friends. She was a Slytherin, and he was a Gryffindor, so they didn't interact much. But whenever they did cross paths, she was always polite and respectful to him, unlike some of her Slytherin classmates who took pleasure in tormenting him.
Remus couldn't remember her name at first, but he knew her face. She had been in his year, and she had always stood out to him. She had long, curly black hair and piercing green eyes, and she carried herself with a confidence that he admired.
As he walked into the staff room, he saw her sitting at a table, grading papers. She looked up when he entered, and their eyes met. She smiled warmly at him, and he felt his heart skip a beat.
"Hello, Professor Lupin," she said. "How are you settling in?"
Remus smiled back at her. "It's been a bit overwhelming, to be honest. But I'm glad to be back here at Hogwarts. It feels like coming home."
"I know what you mean," she said. "I've been teaching here for a few years now, and it still feels like a privilege every day."
They chatted for a few more minutes, catching up on old times and getting to know each other as colleagues. Remus couldn't help but feel a connection to her, even though they had never been close as students. He wondered if it was because they both understood what it was like to be an outsider at Hogwarts.
As they talked, Remus found himself opening up to her about his struggles with his werewolf side. He had always been hesitant to talk about it with anyone, even his closest friends. But something about her kind and understanding demeanor made him feel safe.
To his surprise, she wasn't just sympathetic – she was knowledgeable. She had studied the Dark Arts extensively, and she knew all about werewolf transformations and the various spells and potions that could help ease the pain and discomfort.
Over the next few weeks, Remus found himself seeking her out more and more. They would meet in her office after hours, and she would teach him new charms and potions that could help him during his transformations. She even showed him how to create a wand that could change shape and size, so he could carry it with him during his transformations.
Remus was grateful for her help, but he couldn't help feeling drawn to her for other reasons as well. She was smart, funny, and beautiful, and he found himself thinking about her all the time. He wasn't sure if she felt the same way, but he couldn't help hoping.
One night, after a particularly grueling transformation, Remus stumbled into her office, exhausted and in pain. She was waiting for him, as she always was, with a warm cup of tea and a sympathetic ear.
But this time, something was different. As she tended to his wounds and gave him a potion to ease his pain, he felt a spark between them. He couldn't explain it, but he felt like home.
As she finished tending to him, she looked up at him with a soft expression. "Remus, I want you to know that you don't have to go through this alone. You have people who care about you, who want to help you. I want to help you."
Remus felt his heart swell with emotion. "I know, and I appreciate everything you've done for me. You're a remarkable person, and I feel lucky to have you in my life."
She smiled at him, her eyes shining with a warmth and understanding that he had never experienced before. "Remus, there's something I need to tell you. I've always admired you, ever since we were students. You're brave and kind, and you have a strength that I've always found inspiring. I know this might not be the best time to say this, but I can't keep it inside any longer. I care about you, Remus. I think I might even love you."
Remus felt his heart stop. He had never expected to hear those words from her, but they were like music to his ears. He leaned in closer to her, cupping her cheek with his hand. "I care about you too, more than you know. And I think I might love you too."
Their lips met in a tender kiss, and Remus felt like he was home. He had never felt so understood and accepted as he did in her arms. He knew that they still had obstacles to overcome, but he felt like they could face anything together.
As they pulled away from each other, she smiled up at him. "Remus, will you be my partner in this? Will you let me be there for you, through the good times and the bad?"
Remus didn't hesitate. "Yes. I want nothing more than to be with you, to face the future together. You are my home, and I will always be there for you, no matter what."
They held each other in a warm embrace, their hearts beating as one. Remus knew that he still had challenges ahead, but he also knew that he had someone by his side who would always be there for him. And that was all that mattered.

20 Questions for Fic Writers!
Thank you for the tags @suspendingtime, @colettebronte and @fayes-fics 💙 Following Faye's lead and answering while inebriated 😅 Saturday night fam...
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
24 thus far. I should toss LMBYA on there - I think it may be well received.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
144,232
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Just Bridgerton. It's the only thing that has stirred my soul to write for since I was a teenager...
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
On AO3:
Love to Spare  135
Young at Heart 128
Touch 126
A Brother's Love 122
Willow Bark 98
Tumblr notes:
Still Going 1730
Touch (my next top 5 are the Touch series at 3777 cumulatively)
Locked Out 417
Gala 395
Young At Heart 300
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Absolutely. Every single comment gets a response because that level of engagement from readers deserves celebration and recognition. It makes my heart soar.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
LOL HAVE YOU MET ME? I have something of a reputation... But if I had to pick, I'd say Number Ten and I'll Be Seeing You rank as my top angstiest endings for A & B Bridgerton respectively.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmmm. Young At Heart was for sure the fluffiest thing I've ever written. But I have a soft spot for the tooth-rotting sweetness of Two Lines and A Special Day.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Fortunately no. I haven't encountered any negativity for my fics yet. The Bridgerton fan community has been lovely.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do, but I don't feel that it's my strong suit. It started just for Benophie but I have branched into x Reader. I don't think I'm great at it. I prefer to write whump and angst.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No, no real crossovers. I enjoy AUs that dip into vampire/zombie/apocalypse territory though. My friend suggested I combine my fixations and have the Bridgertons discover a portal to Middle Earth in their hedgerow 😅 Let the madness begin...
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I think so. I granted permission for a fic to be translated into French.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not officially, but I have had such fun brainstorming and workshopping fic ideas with my mutuals. I wouldn't have written half as much as I have if it weren't for them.💙
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Benophie is my OTP, obvi.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
WOOF. I have 17 WIPs. I'd say the most at risk is a concept for Anthony on each of his siblings' wedding days. I have to read all the Bridgerton novels to finish this one, and that's a tall ask.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm aight at conveying emotion. Feels are kinda my game - good and bad.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing TOO much about feelings 😜 I skew verbose and can get wordy as fuck because I'm trying so hard to paint a very precise picture. I always have to remind myself to reel it in so readers aren't bogged down.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I have sprinkled some French for Benophie and Tamil for Kanthony into my stories. Just little phrases that I always research thoroughly.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
First ever? X-Men 😋 I was 12. The first film came out. I was a goner for Wolverine...
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Guh, they are all like children to me. But my heart is drawn to my multichapter character stories. Let Me Be Your Anchor is the first Bridgerton fic I started writing and the only one I ever intended to. It's novel length and will be my greatest accomplishment. A Brother's Love was the first fic I actually finished and has the most soul in it IMO. Then I see Willow Bark as my most clever 'fix it' story - if the show could adopt my ideas on that one I think we'd all win 😉
Everyone I know has already been tagged so - just here to share 💙

I used to draw for other small/rare ships (apparently I'm drawn to those kind of ships lol), only one of them got huge enough after they were given some time alone in the manga which got the ship more talented and known creators and amazing fan art.
Unfortunately it also got more hate on since it was a ship that "got in the way" of other huge popular ships and going through the tag got annoying bc the haters tagged every post shitting on the previously rare pairing, plus if you reblogged or made content for it they would harass you. I just blocked everyone sending me hate lmao.
Lots of people now hate Leon/Ashley but I think this increased hatred also shows how the haters can see that it is a thing now unlike before. They see it as a real threat. You can see the insecurity in some of those antis, it's too obvious and also just sad imo. I don't get why antis take shipping too seriously like they're not even having fun anymore and that's supposed to be the point, no?
Truth is I've seen so many Leon/Ashley fans online and even irl, Reddit for example loves it and Remake Ashley is a fan favorite now. A lot of them are more casual fans that maybe don't engage that deeply with fanon (which tbh is the smart thing to do).
Finally I have to say your blog and the amazing fic writers have inspired me to go back to drawing fan art and just creating content for Ashley/Leon or EagleOne. :)
Since this is my new otp and the only thing I love shipping rn I'm also just creating a new blog for that purpose. I'm not an amazing artist I'm just an amateur but I'll try to do something soon when I'm less busy. I'll absolutely tag it as EagleOne. Hopefully I can motivate others to do the same.
anon what the fuCK i got all emotional reading this wyd 😭
i know that the antis are coming from a place of insecurity, which is why their arguments are so disingenuous (i finally found the "the devs went out of their way to make sure that leon and ashley weren't seen as romantic" tweet and hoo boy the desperation is stinky) -- and that's also why i don't engage with them. as easy and perhaps fun as it would be to just QRT it and be like "oh it makes sense now, you're all using text to speech because you don't actually know how to read" there's no point in doing that.
i said it a while ago, but i want to say it again for good measure -- i don't want us to become them. my humble goal for eagleone fandom is to be a haven for ppl. we've been the black sheep of this fandom for so long, and aeons are still accusing us of being predators or someshit (idk i'm only semi-fluent in delusional) that i feel like we all have an obligation to stay humble now that capcom's given us a fairy tale version of RE4 where our ship is the front-and-center romance and people are finally actually being drawn to the ship. no one knows how bad this fandom can get better than eagleone folk, so it's on us to not do unto others what has been done unto us.
idk maybe that's just my whole jewish "because you were slaves in egypt..." mindset coming out but
i want us to be a place where people can just come and hang out and make friends over our shared love for resident evil. i know that i have serennedy and cleon and chreon and metaltango people all following me, and i love all of them dearly and i'm happy that we've all found each other. i feel like that's what fandom should be.
that's why i don't fight with aeons out in the open. i don't want to become them. i'll swing back if they ever come here (though i hope valuable lessons were learned the last time someone tried to come in here swinging and i took them out in exactly two responses LMAO), but i don't want to go out picking fights and i don't want any of y'all to do it either.
so it makes me feel really warm and fuzzy and happy to hear that i've inspired you in some way. i know that our little corner of the fandom over here on tumblr is small, and i know that i don't exactly have the kind of welcoming personality that will give me any sort of real platform in this fandom (at least, not like the one i had back in the day when i was a fake ass bitch LMAO), but to know that i've made at least a little difference is everything for me.

for the violence ask game: 3, 16? >:) (for any fandom)
[Choose Violence ask game] I chose to give some different examples. For variety.
3: screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
Ok. This one will take some time to think about and I want to come up with a few different examples because i've been on this hellsite for so long. And the thing about tumblr is that "you curate your own experience" so its really easy to NO WAIT I CHANGE MY MIND THE WORST TAKE I EVER SAW WAS FROM THE USSR FANDOM "Jews weren't persecuted in the USSR and everything you've heard about the pogroms was USamerican propaganda" which is just straight up wrong and historical revisionism.
Disco Elysium: Every single absolutely noteworthy bad discopost has been from the subreddit, which i do not look at. Therefore the only infamous tumblr take I can remember are the terfs who say nobody can be trans in Revachol. I think they should take a long walk off a short plank.
Guilty Gear: I see frequent bad takes from both the fandom and the fighting game community side of GG, but nearly all that shit is on twitter and reddit. (I'm not kidding when i say the GG subreddit has some of the worst moderation I've ever seen on a game subreddit. It's all shitposts and you cannot find any helpful information there. I can and WILL complain about horrible twitter takes all the time.) Anyway theres a gg confessions tumblr (i will not link it but its not hard to find) is an entertaining trainwreck. The worst take I saw there was "Sol, Jack-o, and Asuka would be the best polycule ever!" which is like. You had to have engaged with the story enough to come to that conclusion but you used absolutely zero brain cells in that thought processing. No critical thinking skills. You saw some pretty people on a screen and shipped them without listening to anything they were saying. (TL;DR One of Sol's defining characteristics throughout the entire series is that he wants to kill Asuka and not in a "hot rivalry way" but in a "you deeply and unforgivably betrayed my trust and bodily autonomy and that's not even the tip of the iceberg" kind of way.)
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: [Long, drawn-out pantomime of opening a bottle of whiskey, pouring a generous amount into a glass, and downing it in one go] It's not worth talking about in public.
16: you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
Disco Elysium: To put it lightly, I do not think Kim would have anything more than a mere tolerance for Jean.
Guilty Gear: Everyone is wrong about Faust except for me and my friends. I'm writing this 30k word fanfic, and oftentimes I think "Is my characterization of Faust too serious? Am I making him too solemn? Like yeah, his combat is silly but otherwise he's very straightforward when he speaks." and then I look at his story dialogue and think to myself "No. It's the fanon's perception of him that is wrong." ALSO. Anyone saying that his characterization in Strive is "him returning to being a serial killer" will die by my hand. Regardless of his uncanny appearance now, mentally that's the best he's ever been in the whole franchise. FUcking fight me on it. I'll 214s->PRC->236h* your ass.
Fallout: The Legion do NOT get a pass because they "allow gay men"!!!!!!!
(* teleport on top of you and give you a haircut. I'm not kidding that's what that combo does.)
Thanks Yarrow! This took me too long.

10 characters/10 fandoms
thank you for tagging me! @dendrite66
finally got around to this. it was really hard for me to come up with these?? i never really stretched myself out into so many different fandoms. and most of the ips i like are non-humans/humanoid lol
1. Star Wars - Kylo Ren: i've related to him since I first laid eyes on him in tfa. the trans symbolism, the hating your dad bit, I was like dang he's me fr. he's as close as i've got to a comfort character.
2. Star Trek - Captain Jean-Luc Picard: (yeah i'm a trekkie lol) i totally had a crush on this guy growing up. he isn't even my type, but the overflowing confidence was new for me in a character.
3. Interstellar - Cooper: idk how but my brain managed to over-empathize with what this poor man had to go through. to this day, if i think about/watch the movie there will probably be tears.
4. The OA - Buck Vu: trans king!!!! loved seeing myself in a series. seeing him deal with legitimate trans tm issues but get to escape into a fantastical sci-fi feverdream was so good. also his actor is so cool and went on to play a character in Star Trek too haha
5. The Orville - Commander Bortis: seeing the story of a parent going through the process of non-acceptance to complete acceptance of their child was so powerful. the fact that opening his mind for his child's best interests ended up making him like the very group he used to hate was so satisfying. especially in the sick little "fuck u for having backwards thoughts, but now u found out u actually were repressing feelings for them all along" way.
6. Alien - Ellen Ripley: do i need to clarify why?
7. 2001: A Space Odyssey - Hal 9000: my introduction to ai characters and the possiblity of their humanity. (even the dark side of it)
8. Uglies - Tally Youngblood: kind of a watching your hero become the villain character. this series was my favorite ya book series growing up. i saw myself in her and continued to even after everything that happened. which honestly just goes to show how authentic of a character she was written to be.
9. Game of Thrones - Daenerys Targaryen: what a girlboss. i'm a huge dragon nut so of course if a character's symbol is dragons, i'm instantly drawn to them. i support her and her manslaying agenda. (until the last season)
10. The Walking Dead - Hershel Greene: i fell hook line and sinker for this guy's rough on the outside, soft on the inside characterization. he's such a random character for me to have ended up enjoying so much, but to this day he's my fave of the series.
i've seen everyone's takes on this post pop up all over my dash for the past few days, so i think i'm too late to tag new people. but if you see this and weren't tagged, do it!!

do you have any favorite rarepairs?? in stranger things and other fandoms you’ve been in
Ooh, this is a cool question! So, I will read sort of anything in a fandom once I'm in it. I'll read Jonathan/Jim Hopper, I'll read Chrissy/Billy and I especially like the insanity of Kurt/Steve. I'm like a Tiger Shark, I'll try anything and i can assure you, in the Stranger Things AO3 pool, I've honestly sampled a little of EVERYTHING. My favourites, however, hmm.
So from Dragon Age, I always LOVED Fenris/Cullen or (I think I invented it) Leliana/Fenris, absolute all-time greats. From the Witcher, I don't know if counts as a rarepair, but there weren't enough fics featuring it and that was Jaskier/Eskel. My first fanfic I EVER wrote and shared was from Twilight and it was Edward/Rosalie but I also really liked Jasper/Edward back then, which had I think 4 fics in total. My fav rarepair in ST is probably Billy/Steve/Eddie because I'm naturally drawn to throuples and polyromance, its so fascinating to me.
Once I'm in a fandom, I kind of want to read a little of everything, just to take a little bite. I've been in so many fandoms at this point and there are many more but these are a few! 💜💜💜

Final Thoughts on the SP Kickstarter
Why a kickstarter? This is something I heard a few people ask since Landy surely has enough money to pay for the merch out of his own pocket before selling it. There are three reasons I think are most likely. One, that was he can print exactly the number of merch he needs and won't be left sitting on a large pile of unsold merch. Second, it is a good way to find out how many people would be even interested in SP merch and it's a solid number he can show HarperCollins to get the official merch store approved. This is pretty much confirmed with this Tweet:
Tumblr media
[link]
And third, I think he wasn't sure how well it would do himself since he is probably aware that his sales tanked and a lot of the fandom hates his guts. An indication of this was how ill-prepared the Kickstarter was and how there were no stretch goals.
Ngl I'm feeling kinda iffy that he has people pay for stuff and we didn't even know how half the stuff would look like at the start of the Kickstarter. The Tote-Bags had no pic, the magnets had no pic, and we never got a pic of the stickers, instead, he only described how they would look after I asked him about it. The pins were just a WIP and only got updated mid-way through. Like, he has so little to offer and such simple designs, all of it should have been ready and on the Kickstarter page by the time it got published. Especially since he gave people only 2 weeks to pledge.
Through Reddit I found out that people who backed the Kickstarter got asked which 3 kinds of merch/characters they would like to see the most. On one hand, it makes sense that he would want to add merch of characters that his super fans like (and you gotta be a superfan to fork over money for the stuff he offered on that Kickstarter). But on the other hand, it ignores the people that didn't buy anything from the Kickstarter bc their fav characters weren't represented.
While 1157 seems like a lot of people but it's just a small percentage of the people that follow Landy on Twitter. He currently has 27.5K followers which means only 4.2 % of his followers backed the Kickstarter. That means an even lesser percentage of the fandom has backed it considering not everyone has a Twitter account.
I don't actually know which percentage is a good number. I heard that having 10% of followers engage with your content is normal. So around 5% actually giving you money is probably good. That surprises me bc a lot of people in the fandom voiced their distaste for the subpar pin designs. I've seen some people (on Reddit) think that the Skul and Val drawn by Landy would not be the final design and that the final designs would be made by Jaime (the pin-maker). I wonder if that plays into it largely or not.
Personally, I believe that if he really wanted to design his own pins he could have done so for himself privately (like I have done before). But this is the first time you can BUY official merch and it should have been for SP fans as much as for himself, but it essentially ended up being an ego trip for him and his GF.
I don't like that he only collaborated with the pin-maker bc she's a super-fan (has an SP tattoo). He's also dating a fan. It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth bc it seems like this wannabe man can only get along with people that adore him/SP. I mean, he straight up admitted he can't get a movie done, not even with an indie, by he's too controlling of all things SP.
Despite being successful, the Kickstarter only brought the fandom back to life for a few days and it was to take the piss out of the pin designs. The new book announcement, "Hell Breaks Loose", barely caused an uptick in activity at all. While I'm happy the Kickstarter was successful bc it means we'll get a store with better merch sometime next year, I'm wondering what it will take to resurrect this fandom.

For the Sake of a Smile: Short Eight
Title: For the Sake of a Smile-- Short Eight: Kohai
Fandom: Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!
Summary: Hell on earth was your motto for your job. Granted, you were pretty sure earth really was hell, considering the shit you had seen. And the fact your coworker was a child. Suzuki Iruma, in fact. A kid who’s life was decidedly worse than yours, but smiled despite everything.
And you’d do a lot for his smile. Including summoning a demon and signing your life away.
But as it turns out, hell (The Netherworld, actually) was a lot better than living on earth. Demons were more humane than a lot of humans you knew.
And Iruma’s smile wasn’t the only one that would change your life.
Chapter Eight | Ao3| mairimashitai! Simps Discord
The next morning you stumbled into the kitchen, drawn by the delicious smells.
No one - you swore - could cook like Opera. They still wouldn't let you help much, but you had finally learned it was mainly because cooking in the Netherworld required mana to make things edible. Iruma with his ring had just a bit of difficulty brewing tea, but it was drinkable; unlike your own mess.
They weren't being possessive of the kitchen, they were apparently doing it more to protect you and the rest of the household from your attempts.
"I was hoping you would be down," Opera stated as you plopped next to the small kitchen table as they quickly appeared with a steaming pot of tea. "I wanted to talk with you."
You made a noise to indicate you were listening, even if you weren't quite awake. To your surprise, Opera took the seat across from you, hand folded on the table and their yellow eyes piercing.
There was a brief moment of panic as you worried you had messed up somewhere; and while Sullivan was too kind to scold you, Opera certainly wouldn't have any qualms. Afterall, he was both Lord Sullivans right-hand as well as security demon.
"Shichiro, as well as Kalego, are my kohai," They started. "I'm not sure if humans have something similar to the term, but they are as precious to me as Lord Sullivan is."
Well, kohai - or underclassmen - were a thing in the human realm, but it varied culture to culture and you had a feeling it was far more significant here than where you were from. But you kept those thoughts to yourself and merely nodded your head.
"I wanted you to be aware that if I thought you would be a bad mate for Shichiro, I would not be participating in Lord Sullivan’s plans," They continued, making you flush and start to protest, to which they held up a hand to silence you. "I'm aware you aren't pleased with our interference, but let me continue. Shichiro is a very unique demon, to say the least, and I had thought he would be one content to his role as a professor and guardian of Babyls. But I see now, it would take an equally unique person to catch his attention, as you have done."
"...you really think he's interested in me?" You quietly interrupted, and Opera gave a short nod.
"I've known him since his first year of Babyls when I took him and Kalego as my kohai. In the many years since, I have never seen him take such interest in a person. But, I digress. I had just wanted to assure you that your fears are unfounded, because if you weren't suited for him, I would be sure to make it clear."
That last bit… sounded rather like a threat, paired with his unblinking eyes and annoyed twitch of his tail and ears. "Okay," You answered meekly. "I-I'll be sure to keep that in mind."
They nodded again before standing. "And that I agree with Lord Sullivan, your children are going to be absolutely adorable. I'll have to contact his mother. Shichiro was extremely cute as a child, although a bit of a handful, if I remember her stories right."
They left you to gawk in silence as your mind was invaded by thoughts of children. With Balam.
"Can- can humans and demons even, you know, reproduce?" You squeaked without thinking, and earned a very slight smile from the feline demon.
"Legends say they can, but you know who the expert in that field is. Perhaps you should ask him."
Right. Balam had said something about being an expert in imaginary creature history. But… asking him…if humans and demons… could have kids.
That was even worse than asking him about courting.

Diff anon but sometimes it really is better to dissociate muses from songs. Because you gets more freedom to analyse songs in a way you weren't able to before. I remember someone interpreting style/ treacherous parallels. And it blew my mind. TO ME those songs came from similar emotional grounding. Sexual tension, drawn to danger(this slope is treacherous,I like it/burning flames or paradise.....watch us go round'n'round) and doing opposite of sensible thing, even midnight reference. The only problem I found was that the person who wrote it was using these points to argue how its about harry. And while I definitely agree backstory makes some songs(atw, style, delicate etc) better some are definitely better off left alone. Couple of weeks ago I saw someone argue clean is "jake/harry" and I don't understand this desire for it to be about one person at all. Especially since she is a human being who goes through a lot. Days ago I saw her performing IAD at red tour and her speech was something like this. 'We all have one person, or maybe two, who you want to call but is resisting". Separating emotions and associating it with one person is hard. Especially when you are having multiple back-to-back heartbreaks. The connections you find in an artist's music has more to do with artist than the muse. This is why some songs are joe-coded even when it was written before she met him. This is why last kiss is one of the saddest Taylor songs eventhough fandom collectively agrees jake was her first true heartbreak. This is why Polaroid is not a harry-exclusive thing. The parallels between yaom and clean are there but that's not the proof that clean was about her high school bf. As we grow up, we associate same things with different people at different times. This fandom really want to nail down every songs and conduct paternity test and sometimes the narrative that crafted with it is invasive as fuck(there is a theory that Taylor hooked up with jake after red released because 'clean is not about anyone else so Taylor mentioning 10 months is proof' and I hate all these theories with passion. Swifties sometimes are very invasive.
i think what started the fierce association with muses as far as taylor goes were differing theories that got so out of hand, kind of in the way you mention - we know treacherous is NOT about H, and yet the people who insist a bunch of red is inspired by him end up getting argued with by the people who say it isn't (because logic), and this leads to a vicious cycle of asserting reality through the facts and timelines we have, and yet many things remain presumption. it's sort of like the fighting that happened about maroon being assigned to anyone and everyone (it's about tom! it's about harry! it's about joe! it's about taylor's neighbor's cat!) when she spelled out the obvious answer for us. this leads fans who are in essence trying to be protective of her and her truths to become defensive (and i've done this too) so that her own experience doesn't get erased, only then it can also become invasive itself or a misrepresentation of details that she wields to craft metaphors rather than being wholly literal. idk if you saw this post, but that second tweet makes me think so much of her work. songs are not separated by fiction/nonfiction, it bleeds together.
The connections you find in an artist's music has more to do with artist than the muse. this part. taylor has a very clear, uniquely specific voice in her writing, in her "pens" - the echoes and connections throughout her work are often because that's how she perceives and captures the world.
i've said many times before that i don't think it's wrong to understand the core story and person a song may be about, we know what we know and taylor's experiences are still her own, and we don't entirely divorce art from its inspiration (i've definitely used this reference before, but bright star is beautiful on its own as a romantic poem, and powerful when you know about fanny brawne and what was happening to keats, one meaning doesn't negate the other, the same is true of music). the tricky part comes in when fans either say you're not allowed to interpret the songs in your own personal way or apply them however you want (to your own personal life, to fictional characters, whatever else), or when people say we're not allowed to acknowledge what taylor is saying about herself in her own writing. there's an important middle ground! we can and should be able to do both, respect both, and value both.

SHOW YOUR UNUSED MILGRAM OCS OR I'LL DIE
NOOOOO ANON DON'T DIE okay so tbh i haven't really drawn them like their designs just.. exist in my head and that's it so please take these messy sketches (i made them in class 👍 i'm a responsible student i swear)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
+ more information about them under the cut!
OKAY SO the first unused prisoner is this girl who killed someone (i actually still don't know how her crime was supposed to go) but she claims that it was fine for her to do that because, well, she's not exactly sane and she went through a lot of stuff, so like.. yeah, she uses that as an excuse. yurika and riku actually have some of her personality traits (same goes for riku's victim)
i guess you can call the second unused prisoner beta!shun in a way?? :'D like, he also was in a toxic relationship and he also likes to deceive both himself and others. basically, he was supposed to make everyone believe that his girlfriend treated him badly and he killed her in self-defense, and when the guard still found him suspicious, he just went "oh, so you just refuse to accept that guys can be the victims too huh". but the thing is that he was the guilty one and not his girlfriend and he refused to accept that so.. yeah
wait the third one actually kinda looks like naomi ASHDHJSJKS OKAY i guess you can call her fem!akio in a way because i kinda wanted to have this "popular girl" prisoner who was afraid of losing her popularity and ended up killing her rival. i thought that it was too boring though, but i still liked the idea, sooo akio can be called that "popular girl prisoner" now because his crime is basically the same! also i've decided to use her design for one of the final prisoners' victims.
about the fourth one.. i really wanted to have a prisoner oc who killed someone for clout and attention because. well. social media can be like that sometimes. however, i didn't really know what to do with her and her crime was like.. the only thing i knew about her, so yeah. sorry, girl, i just know you would be so much more powerful than the main cyberbully of canongram fuuta kajiyama himself 😔
okay, so about the last two: i really wanted to make prisoner ocs that were related in some way, like maybe siblings, twins, parent and child, etc. i thought it would be such a cool concept, like would they count as one prisoner? would they count as two prisoners? did they commit the same crime or maybe their crimes weren't related at all? what if they don't even know anything about each other's crimes? what if they killed someone together? so many possibilities!.. i didn't know which idea i like the most though, so yeah, i ended up not using them. but i liked the concept so much that i decided to keep these two as one of the final prisoners' victims as well.
and also i've mentioned before that originally i had only one guard oc and that was eiji and even though his personality was mostly the same, his design was more pink and green, but i decided to change it because he looked too similar to some of my other ocs (both fandom and non-fandom). he wasn't even supposed to be related to any of the prisoners actually, but then i looked at his new color scheme and i was like. you literally look like kei's brother OKAY LET'S GO WITH THAT

hi pia, I just finished reading Eversion and wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. 1) because a Hank/Connor pairing is a little squicky for me since I've always seen them as father/son and 2) because the sadism is on a whole other level to that of your other stories.
BUT once again your way of writing has made it work and I absolutely loved it!
I don't if you've answered this before but would you ever write a Reed/Nines fic in the future? I saw your comment about Gavin being a disaster sub and now I can't get it out of my head lmao.
Anyway, thanks once again for the amazing reading experience.
Lots of love <3
Hi anon!
I'm so glad you got something out of Eversion despite having some pretty significant obstacles in the way of enjoying it! (Also I can understand that re: the sadism, I think Connor's love of degradation and humiliation adds an extra kind of 'severity' to their scenes together that many people weren't necessarily prepared for, because that tends not to be shown very often in long fics vs. just like, filthy PWPs where we're not really caring about the consequences, lol).
I'm not really super drawn to the Gavin/Nines pairing in terms of writing them, though I have read some really good fics. I highly recommend you check out the works of FallLover though, who has written a lot of really amazing Gavin/Nines fics over the years!
Idk why Nines/Gavin doesn't really appeal to me very much, because it's a very 'obvious' pairing for me. (But this also reminds me of how like Bucky is one of my least favourite characters in the MCU even though he technically kicks all of my boxes of what I love in a character - extreme post-trauma, flashbacks, past torture, fragile, extremely dangerous etc.) Sometimes it just doesn't work out and something is missing for me.
And there's also the fact that I'm just an aggressive fandom surfer. Once I've written one long story in a fandom, I'm not likely to come back and write another one (the evidence of this is the fact that almost every story on my fanfiction account is for a different fandom, lol). But yeah, they've also just never pinged me. I think it's also partly that they're such a popular pairing, specifically with Gavin as a disaster sub, that I don't need to write it, it's already being written! And I really only write what I can't already find in a fandom. :D
