svt as brooklyn 99 characters

tags: b99 au, i am obsessed, i’ve been rewatching this series for the 600th time now, only 80% accurate, i stretched it a little bit

thank you to alice (koogyv on twt) for the amazing thread that i highly interacted with as inspiration. there are many similarities. i expanded upon it more.

this is my take:

det. jake peralta

hoshi

“i wasn’t hurt that badly. the doctor said all my bleeding was internal. that’s where the blood’s supposed to be!”

arguably, this is the best pairing made. he’s silly, hard-working, creative, and most of all -- he’s gunsta think about the turtles. even as a jokes-first seriousness-second type of person, jake is a thoughtful and caring person who would put himself down to save others. he’s sharp, perceptive, and great at deduction, but often discredits himself with his great delusion, playfulness, and childish nature. he’s a trendsetter and loves to joke around, and when he has a great thought, he’s going to put it into action. (“yeah, that’s right. i’m about to monologue, son.”) his favorite movie is die hard (hoshi as a shawol), is canonically broke (hoshi’s constant money loss due to him spoiling everything), and tries to annoy suspects into confessing their crimes.

men can have duality. they can be serious and also put orange soda in their cereal. hoshi, as a Super Gemini™ knows all about it. he’s playful but knows when to be serious and takes his line of work very seriously. sure, he has some growing up to do and can immerse himself in a different role (horanghae <3) very easily, but he plays to his strengths and that of others with his determination and persistence.

“wait a minute. this isn’t the championship cummerbund. this is some common cummerbund. and, you’re not cheddar. you’re just some common bitch!”

“this bitch? please. watch.” (to the dog, ‘some common bitch’) “shake… shake! psshh. idiot.”

this is probably the most obvious and predictable choice after jake=hoshi. a born leader, full of wisdom, and no-nonsense… well, some nonsense is okay. captain holt is ambitious and looks after his squad with both care for their goals and their personalities. even though he may seem a little unapproachable or stoic, he’s actually a really funny and goofy guy. he laughs when he eats marshmallows (“a marshed mallow? don’t mind if i do.”) he’s very adamant about his passions (like john phillip sousa being the skrillrex of his day) and his a very consistent guy (ref. rock painting no. 367). he is sassy to the max and will tell you things exactly as he finds them. and he does NOT mess around when it comes to his dog.

cheol, most of all, is the ultimate dog dad -- just like holt. cheddar is to holt like kkuma is to cheol. he spoils his dog, and he is proud of it. he’s someone who caters to the learning style that each person needs: stricter but with jokes for jake (hoshi), encouraging for rosa (woozi), detailed with a binder and written formalities for amy (seungkwan), and with actions (ref. the croque monsieur) for charles (dk). he’s attentive, thoughful, and silly at heart.

“gross, rosa! those are our dads! i mean, that’s not what i think. captain dad is just my boss. never mind, i’m teaching father the math. whatever, rosa!”

super badass, but also a teacher’s pet, know it all, and scrapbooking expert. may come off as super uptight or a buzzkill, but genuinely cares about the other detectives on the squad. when you have hella big aspirations, it’s not that unreasonable to see why competitiveness, sharpness, and intellect are his best traits. under all of the work-oriented personality, there’s someone who is ambitious, thoughtful, clever, and protective of the people he loves. it’s hard to not be so uptight and to let loose (as opposed to some totally scheduled fun!), and don’t make fun of him if he sucks and is horrible at it. (title of his sex tape.)

seungkwan was my top choice, mainly because of his competitiveness with hoshi (jake) as svt’s most famous frenemy pair. there’s a lot of responsibility and workload that seungkwan carries and continues to put on his shoulders, which his members love and appreciate (just how the squad appreciates and acknowledges amy’s dedication to being a detective). things can get wild and crazy sometimes, which is why seungkwan just needs to recharge sometimes.

“i got this low tag performance polo with moisture wicking technology. kept me dry all morning. and a dry boy is a smart boy.”

if you’re looking for a supportive best friend who will always cheer you on, this is him. he’s a major foodie, he loves jake (hoshi), and his arch nemesis is sergeant peanut butter, who is a horse. he’s possessive and jealous almost as much as he is a superb friend, which is obvious by the way he instantly is suspicious of every other best friend jake (hoshi) can make in his life. (“don’t make any new best friends! haha… maybe you shouldn’t go…”) he gets jealous of many, like old beat cop partner stevie schillens, brian (?) from camp, and even cannibal jail cellmate caleb. also definitely dresses up as people from halloween that no one but him can understand. he is just someone that is the embodiment of living life according to his passions. very caring, thoughtful, and funny.

dk was a good choice for boyle for me since he is super clingy and also is a supportive friend. even if he knows it’s silly or mischievous, he will play along. dk is relatively less prone to disgusting and gross sexual innuendos than charles, but is still super excited to share his jokes and hobbies. has a lot of holiday cheer and his down to be friends even after being turned down.

det. rosa diaz

woozi

“plans are plans. i’m a badass, not an anarchist.”

mysterious, a little scary, but reasonable and thoughtful. rosa is a character that’s easy to stereotype, though also arguably one of the more complex characters in this show. hard working is an understatement, and even though he may not be the most outwardly affectionate at first glance, rosa is super thoughtful. work comes first, but through the many trials and tribulations that life throws, business remains separate from personal… except the friendships. rosa went through the academy with jake (hoshi), so they’re really close. as much as jake jokes around and everything, they still trust each other and work with each other really well. (“diaz has been chuckin’ d-holes into my mouth since the academy.”) on top of that, is a bicon (bi icon).

woozi was my go-to choice on this one. his demeaner seems a little intimidating (especially because of all his muscles now too!), but he means good. he gives off mysterious vibes, but he’s just figuring it out. now he is truly no-nonsense, and he makes sure others know this. he’s still down for the different personas and everything, but he lives his life by a strict set of rules. his neighbors think he’s emily goldfinch (woozi)… his coworkers think his name is rosa diaz (wooahae)… wait. what?

sgt. terry jeffords

mingyu

“terry loves yogurt.”

literally just a big softie that looks scary/big/muscular but is actually so babygirl. he’s so caring and loves the squad to death, always making sure that they have all the resources they need to survive. even when other captains come and go, terry is always there. terry loves yogurt, terry loves love, and terry loves foreign films. kind of has a rivalry with boyle (seungkwan) for strange reasons instigated by boyle himself, but is supportive nonetheless. (“hey, people like the way i look.” “sure they do, big guy.) he’s actually very well-educated (studied abroad in japan), is a great dad, and is always down to help others work out the right way.

this was such an obvious choice for me (with the only other option being cheol). mingyu is an inherently kindhearted person like terry, but also knows how to draw boundaries. he is someone who is worried about the safety of the people around him because he’s a family man, but also someone who loves to get down as vacation terry. also talks in the third person, but it’s okay since he’s hot.

“aren’t you forgetting something?” [...] “no! pay your bill! damn, who raised you?”

the human form of the 100 emoji. would be the perfect human president, based upon his skillset, dance ability, and bloodlust. he is the paris of people. has been jake (hoshi)’s childhood friend and went through high school with him. cares enough to steer jake (hoshi) on the right track (ref. brandon bliss) but to also enable him in their own goofy shenanigans (the DDC + the lacroix siblings). super smart and well-versed in the people around him because only gina would suggest savant (vernon), the hacker, to become their new IT guy. iconic entrepreneur.

i know that hao is super humble, and gina says that being humble is her best trait. despite this, there is no one else who would love to not be involved with all this police nonsense (bc gina “does not listen to a lot of things you all [the detectives] say”) but also be relevant. she’s actually very street-smart, great at comebacks, and the ceo of her own company that she literally just made up.

dr. kevin cozner

wonwoo

“that’s the oompiest oomph you’ll get.”

prim, proper, and unhinged. he loves raymond (cheol) but most of all, allows love to prevail. works as a classics professor at a university, spends a sabbatical in france to enrich his teaching experience, and loves a good croque monsieur. would absolutely go off on jake (hoshi) if he gatekept a nicolas cage movie that's a period piece set in greece based on some dumb book. despite his no-nonsense attitude sometimes, he is still down to dress like a pervert to go to the library with jake (hoshi). also, super badass because he runs over seamus murphy with a car.

i was kind of going for wonwoo’s quieter but more serious and studious vibes. i think super knowledgeable, especially about gaming and editing, while kevin is knowledgeable about classics like boetheus and the odyssey. both are super smart, sassy, and protective people.

doug judy

“i sold a guy a fake pekinese. twas a cat.”

he’s in and he’s out! he is there for the vibes and the elaborate schemes. he will outsmart everyone in the NYPD and get away with it. one of jake (hoshi)’s best criminal friends but would still betray him every time. he would definitely lie and tell his family that he owns an architecture firm instead of being the pontiac bandit, and jake (hoshi) is his assistant mangy carl, whom he saved from a life of living on the streets selling his body. goofy and silly, but don’t underestimate him. you’ll always be one step behind him.

i think jeonghan is definitely slick and goofy enough to be doug judy. above all else, jeonghan’s mind works harder than anyone else in mafia. just like how he immerses himself in different roles (and often makes them up) in don’t lie and bad clue, doug judy has transformed into many different roles in his life (cruise ship singer, architect, etc.)

capt. jason stentley (CJ)

“okay muchachos, let’s roll up on these muchachos!”

great start, and love the double use of muchachos, jun. became a captain due to his extreme luck. he is just always in the right place at the right time. showed up to his first day in grey sweatpants because he “totally biffed it” and spilled hot cocoa on himself. introduced himself as ‘captain stentley’ but didn’t like how formal that sounded. ‘captain jason’ wasn’t it either, so CJ was the move. numbers are so crazy, and overall so, very supportive. he just wants to help.

i was just thinking of someone a little silly and laidback. will be strict if you ask him to, but he’s honestly more there for the vibes. he can be a little clumsy, but i was mainly just going for the slightly airheadedness vibes and the lovable nature.

det. adrian pimento

joshua

“whoo… haha… hey chuck! it’s pimento.”

just a little bit insane. it’s a side effect of being undercover for 12 years for jimmy “the butcher” figgis, but i digress. he sometimes still calls himself paul sneed due to being extremely traumatized. overall just a funny and great character. used to be boyle (dk)’s roommate and just found himself in his son’s closet at some point in time… got mistaken as a closet monster… just normal human things. (but he was also screaming with dk and his son.) has a very riveting, intense, and sexy relationship with rosa (woozi).

this one was a little more of a stretch, but only because pimento is actually insane. all the years of ptsd has made him into a very strange person. josh is a little strange, and maybe he could be pimento if pimento was watered down into a lacroix. (like, the flavor is barely there.) there’s a distinct slight insanity that josh has (ref. gose episode the8 and the 12 shadows) that is hard to replicate.

fire marshal boone

dino

“your only move is passing the ball to jeffords and running across the field.” “i’d like to see you try!”

so done with the entire police department. will always be down for a rivalry or argument but genuinely a softie. just generally suspicious of jake (hoshi) and charles (dk) due to their antics and strong adherence to the rivalry. demands an apology because this is the fire department’s jurisdiction! all of that comes crumbling down though, when jake (hoshi) reveals his sad past with sal’s pizza…. but he still competes with jake (hoshi) on arresting the criminal in the end. some things never change.

i was honestly looking for someone who would love nothing more than to call out hoshi and dk on their BS and tomfoolery without enabling it and thought of dino. boone is a pretty lovable character for someone who is supposed to be a villain of some sorts, and it fits in pretty well with dino. plus, he’s the head of the fire department, kind of like how dino had to choose being the maknae of svt versus being the leader of a younger group. (kind of.)

! vernon

okay i was genuinely very torn about who should be vernon, because i genuinely had a lot of different options.

corey park (savant)

hacked into a police precinct’s computer system just because he could. (he only exposed everyone’s search history.) “it was like taking candy from a baby.” he was turned in by his mom, but fortunately now has a job -- courtesy of gina (hao). very intelligent and laid back

i saw vernon here because he definitely has a mischievous side. while his pranks and jokes are on the mild side, he’s definitely still a troublemaker. he’s down to work for the greater good.

cheddar the dog

“this isn’t cheddar, this is just some common bitch.” a very special someone. definitely is seungcheol and wonwoo’s child. loves wedding cake and is very well-behaved. extremely intelligent and loves participating in halloween heists. does not like being jake (hoshi)’s dog bra ://

this was based on alice’s thread and was so funny. if cheddar were a human, vernon would be cheddar. the sass and intellect can only be matched by Thee hansol vernon chwe.

other fun character pairings that i thought of:

kkuma as cheddar the dog: two words -- so spoiled. also would be cheol (captain holt)’s baby. i digress.

jun & dino as young hitchcock and scully: just two people motivated by helping the city. kind-hearted and brave people, who may or may not have gotten addicted to wing sluts while checking in on a witness that their captain screwed over by not putting in the witness protection program. outstanding people who became a lot more interesting, to say the least….

josh as madeline wuntsch: strangely tense relations with holt (cheol) due to their rivalry, but overall an outstanding cop. ½ of svt’s evil twins so you know he’s down for some evilness. oh raymond, i notice you haven’t done your time as a beat cop…. (if josh is here, who’s guarding hades???) may be a cheuksin, a korean toilet ghost who--

jun as mlepclaynos (the clay is silent): opens the door, is questioned by detectives, takes the picture of the suspect. he’s from neokrakagovia and celebrates dogs losing their virginity. jun definitely would! less because he’s weird and more so because he’s so kind and willing to go with the flow that it just happens. later says he’s not mlepnos. did you sell him horse blood? would you like to buy horse blood? he plays the violin beautifully. “guitar.” (ref. some day morning)

AHHHH!!! i was smiling so much reading your reply. so so wholesome. 🥺🥺thank you for being so detailed (and taking 2 hours omg)!

when it comes to svt, vernon and mingyu make so much sense to me after considering your ratings series. i don’t bias vernon, but he was the first svt member i was introduced to, and he totally caught my attention. i was immediately intrigued and wanted to know more, and i feel the same way as you do about his voice!! my long distanced friend and i have zoom sessions to watch svt in the soop, and i always find myself saying how cool vernon is. he’s so unapologetically himself, and i find myself genuinely interested in him. he radiates being down to earth and dependable. i also think how secure he seems to be with himself would make people feel so comfortable around him. i also find his quieter moments endearing. i think i relate myself to him the most actually

mingyu is someone i want to bias, but i physically can’t let myself lol. i admire him so much though. not only do i love his ability to take what his members throw at him, but there is such a sense of security i feel. he’s endearing as hell. i love his passion for photography. definitely fits giant teddy bear. the clumsiness is just :,) ahhh love love love. also i saw this video on twitter that makes my head spin. (i wanted to link the video but it’s gone!!! i should’ve screen recorded it. basically he was opening a bottle of beer and the caption was something about how he’d look out for you/protect you at a party and i—)

ok seungkwan!! this man is one of my biases eek! i’ll echo everything you said and add his INSANE vocals. the conversation he had with chan during in the soop made my heart melt.

my svt biases have shifted so much, but i currently bias seungkwan, seokmin, seungcheol, and jeonghan. hoshi is creeping in these days though too

got7!!! i love that we both started stanning around the same time. i also found them in june of 2020. i bias jay b as well, but my heart also flutters regularly over jinyoung and mark. jay b is an exceptional leader and that alone reflects so many of his positive/admirable attributes. you are is my favorite got7 song, and i couldn’t stop listening to it when i first discovered the track. insane insane. i feel like he radiates a quiet confidence. physically… *deep breath* woah. i would wear so many things i’ve seen him in too lol. i remember watching a video where he talked about having books stacked up all over his place and that was a !!!! moment for me. i think a common thread with my biases is that they’re all people i would love to have a conversation with, hear about their perspectives, and ask questions to. they’re people i think i could learn from, and the lessons range from being more carefree to being kinder to myself/trusting myself   mark is so lovable. his duality is insane as well, and i love how present he allows himself to be. he’s a very considerate being. i think that is seen through things you mentioned: remembering details, making people comfortable. for me with nct, there are four members i would say i bias, probably to varying degrees, but i always come back to jaehyun, taeyong, yuta, and haechan (most recent addition). i’m drawn to all of their auras (idk how well that can be felt or known through a screen, but we must work with what we’ve got lol). there’s a sincerity i feel, especially with jaehyun. they’re all incredibly talented too (obv), but haechan continues to take my breath away. i’ve found myself watching videos where his dancing is analyzed, and his body lines(?) are gorgeous. i also love how unique his voice is. i’ve never heard another like it, and you immediately know it’s him. i also genuinely find haechan really interesting. i admire his ability to be carefree and physically/verbally open with his love for his members, but videos i’ve watched reflect strongly of his intelligence and wit. honorable mentions for johnny and ten. (nct is my newest group. i’ve probably been a fan for around a year, but i’ve found myself much more immersed in them as of recently, so i feel a bit nervous writing this much bc i’m still ~observing)

I think it's interesting how we see Vernon really similarly. It's a good indication of how strong his character is despite being one of the ones that would rather be in the background. He has some really great qualities! Which aspects do you relate to with him? Eeeeeep his voiceeee. I like how he always talks like he's in the process of thinking,,, it's very cute.

omgggg i just looked up "mingyu beer" and is it this? If it is i'm literally gonna go to bed devastated bc why is he like this ((Imma need to touch grass real quick even tho it's winter </3)) . Sometimes Mingyu does too much LMAO,, like I get what the boys mean when they clown this man and say he acts cute on purpose,, also I hate how it works on me anyways. Like I am truly just a simpleminded girl. Whyyy won't you let yourself bias him??? He's out here waiting for u

I can't believe I forgot to mention Seungkwan's voice,,, you're absolutely correct. It makes me sad how he's often left out of the conversation when people talk about the best vocals in kpop :-((( like he deserves to be recognized more.

What do you love most about DK, S Coups, Jeonghan and Hoshi? I swear to god it's impossible as a Carat to have only one bias. I will say generally I love the chemistry they all have with one another,, like I have never seen it be blatantly awkward between any members and that's such a huge testament to their respect and love for one another *cries*. I feel u with the Hoshi creeping in stuff,,, like I find this man so adorable even tho he doesn't try to be,, he's just so entertaining LMAO. I also feel like Hoshi is someone I could be friends with irl,, the type of friendship where we're equally as annoying as one another so it cancels out.

You Are is an A++++ song,, like even though I can't naturally understand the majority of it, the sentiment is definitely felt and u can understand the significance they carry for one another.

(I forgot to add I'm lowkey also attached to Mark bc he's Canadian LMAOOO) I'm fascinated with how your NCT biases are like a mixture of personalities. I agree Haechan's voice is so distinct,,, I always say to myself that it's like reminiscent of something from the 90s (Backstreet boys??? NSYNC??? Idk i'm a '00 baby but still) AND I CAN DEF AGREE WITH YOU WITH HOW HE DANCES. HE IS SO SMOOTH AND FLUID AHHHH IT'S SO NICE TO WATCH. I don't know much about BTS ((actually I lowkey know more than I should for some reason i have no idea why)) but I think J-Hope's lil "I'm your hope, you're my hope, I'm J-Hope" is super fun LMAOOOOO. Jisoo is so pretty!! I also don't know much about Blackpink other than the fact that Jisoo said "I'm not scary" when James C*rden shot fruit at them. My knowledge is v random. I saw Yeonjun's lil "I ain't ever been with a baddie" dance and.... .. . I will say I felt itty bitty baby feelings maybe. Possibly?? This man owns tiktok at this point. He is the CEO. Give him his coin.

Moonlust Series | Werewolf!svt AU

reading order: vernon ➱ minghao ➱ jeonghan ➱ seungcheol ➱ seungkwan ➱ seokmin ➱ chan ➱ mingyu ➱ wonwoo ➱ soonyoung ➱ jun ➱ jihoon ➱ joshua

1) WHISPERS | HANSOL VERNON CHWE

The struggles of finding one’s mate in another pack was troubling for Hansol, as he had no clue where he had to even start. All he knew was that the whispers that he was able to hear from miles away were yours, however there was only one problem? Where are you, and why were you far away from where he had been waiting for you almost his whole entire life?

2) STARRY NIGHTS | XU MINGHAO

At the times where Minghao found himself lingering throughout the starry nighted skies of a new moon, he found himself in a situation where he was only able to meet his mate at the border of a rival pack. He wasn’t sure how Fate managed to make it happen, but he knew for sure that he wanted to make sure that he would be with them no matter what cost it had taken to get to it.

3) MELODY | BOO SEUNGKWAN

Familiar hums of a song was able to be heard as you were stumbling through an unknown forest, not knowing why you had felt compelled to the song. However, by the time that you find Seungkwan in the middle of a clearing singing the special melody that you had once found comfort in as a pup, you were able to find solace in not only the melody, but also with the fact that you had found your mate.

4) PALACE | YOON JEONGHAN

Jeonghan felt the pull that you were alluring out into the atmosphere as you had found out about Vernon and his mate’s meetups. He didn’t expect for his mate to be an Alpha whatsoever, but he knew that if you also found out about your mate bond with him, you wouldn’t be so happy either as you had to decide whether you wanted to keep your throne or be with your mate.

5) FOREIGN | LEE SEOKMIN

Seokmin was shocked when he stumbled into the human world one night with Vernon and his mate. He didn’t expect that he would find more werewolves that have been hiding in plain sight or the humans, nor would he expect to find you in a dark alley mid-shift due to you not being used to your newfound werewolf powers that you were yet to question about.

6) MOONLIGHT | KIM MINGYU

His midnight runs were always times that he wanted to himself, no doubt, since he was able to shift by then and be free. After the night that he stumbles upon seeing your wolf form near a waterfall, where he was almost found enraptured just by your presence, he was ready to do anything just to see you once more in the bright moonlight.

7) RUNNING | LEE CHAN

Chan thought it was weird when he met his mate for the first time, because you already ran away. Not knowing why you ran away from him, he thought it was because you were only a human, however when you ran because of your fear of being mated to someone for life, he tries to find reasons as to why you should let Fate play out and let him love you for you.

8) ATTRACTIONS | WEN JUNHUI

There was something suspicious that was in Junhui’s mind when he found you as he was merely grocery shopping in the city. Although you seemed as though you were innocent and kind, there was an instinct inside of him that was telling signs of a duality you might hold, and he was ready to figure out what that feeling was as he wanted to know you more.

9) CHAINS | CHOI SEUNGCHEOL

According to what he has heard from previous Alphas before him, leaders should be strong, initiative, confident and not back down from whatever it is they are being challenged with. He also knew that when it comes to you, he suddenly feels as though he is chained up and being tortured due to the fact that you wanted to deny him as your mate; but why?

10) INFLAMED | KWON SOONYOUNG

The both of you were almost the same individual, if you were put in rooms that were conjoined to one another; except the only conflict was that you both resented each other because of the past that you both shared. Attempting to avoid your mating bond was almost impossible, up to the point where their passions of annoying the other was much more enjoyable.

11) FRAGILE YOU | JEON WONWOO

Wonwoo didn’t expect to find out that you, one of his long time best friends, was his mate. seventeen and karasuno: a comparison

hello everybody! here is my not so cursory post before I disappear once again into mere reblogs for another 2 months. I just finished the haikyuu manga and needless to say... I am devastated. I've also been following the series for 5 years..,.,,,., and I’ve noticed some similarities and points of comparison between karasuno and seventeen,, and I decided to look into it just a lil further both to understand my own love for both teams and to unpack my own biases and judgements!

1. history/ past

both Karasuno and seventeen hail from previous ‘powerhouse’es - Karasuno being known as the ‘fallen crows’ and pledis having been in a slump for a bit at the time of seventeen’s debut despite having debuted previously successful groups. I think this does fundamentally set up similar foundational values in both teams, and can possibly be the reason the hunger and drive to improve is so pertinent and palpable in both teams. I’d think both teams take on critical underdog roles in their respective spheres, and this is possibly a reason for their similarities!

2. outstanding values

there are certain values that I strongly associate both teams with, and here I wanna unpack that a lil more and see exactly what it is that these two teams really have in common! in particular, these values are teamwork, earnestness, energy, and unpredictability.

teamwork

I think the cornerstone of both teams is undeniably their strong strong teamwork. at the core of Karasuno is their cohesion, their ability to pick up after each other and cover for each other - their unwavering confidence and reliance on each other. think Hinata’s faith in Kageyama, Asahi’s faith in Nishinoya, their seamless synchronised attacks and the sheer amount of love and support they have for each other. and seventeen definitely also displays this! It’s a known fact that seventeen is known for their ridiculously synchronised everything, from their choreography to their mistakes (lol), and for their teamwork. think woozi supporting the rest of the members in recording, in their musicality, think about how their love for each other (when asked to describe svt,, answers like ‘my everything’ ‘my youth’ ‘family’ ,,,, pls… how can u not cry…….) and just how much they all complement each other so well (hiiing) and spend time with each other even during holidays and go for family dinners together like. do you see what I mean??? these two teams love each other so much………

earnestness

ok imo I think svt is one of the most genuine kpop groups out there, in their sincere focus and love for their art, in the way they (esp woozi, dk, vern, dino) are so focused on honing their skills, improving their musicianship and doing it for each other, to grow together, to continue making music and having fun with their friends… I think coups mentioned somewhere once that though they started out fixating a lot on achievements and awards, they have grown to focus more on just doing what they love w the people they love for a long time…… and …. :””””””( yeah. although this point isn’t super pertinent and present in karasuno, it’s definitely there too, somewhat! the way they’re all focused on improving, on becoming better versions of themselves and fighting it out together as a team (quote kags saying ‘but I wanted to do it with this team’,,,… cry…….) and not for the fame, not really for anything else, but to get good and play volleyball for a long time…. hiiiiinnngggggg

energy

ok I think I might be kinda biased on this one, and I think it overlaps a lil with the earnestness point, but I rly rly think both teams have this !!!! presence on the court and on the stage… it’s likely a combination of how special the individual members are and their synergy, and also how dedicated they are to putting on a good performance and winning. to me they kinda just vibe the same way, with that boundless, contained energy that kinda exudes in the form of self-assuredness and quiet, stable confidence. ya know??? ok this is rly more vibey than anything tangible so it’s a lil hard to explain but I hope you get what I mean!

unpredictability

ok so maybe unpredictability might not be the best word, but Karasuno is always pulling ridiculous plays out of their asses in the middle of matches and bewildering everyone,, which to me is kinda similar to how seventeen always comes up with tracks that are so different, so wow (including and sometimes especially their b-sides!), and so refreshing. their performances as well, always leave an impression due to how ! woah! they are and I think that stems from a certain degree of unpredictability and flexibility - you never really know what svt’s new music is gonna sound like, what Karasuno’s next play is going to be, but you know that in both cases, they’re the only ones who can pull those off flawlessly (think the Miya twins’ imitation freak duo quick, and seventeen’s entire. discography and how immaculate and ! wonderful it is…… music analysis post for another day…)

3. special mention for similarities between characters/ members! hehe

s.coups and daichi: ok. i feel like this is the most obvious comparison.. like they are both tired dads and so responsible.. their thighs.. how reliable they are as pillars for their teams, but also…. how cute and actually equally reliant they are on their teammates as well (think coups’ duality, daichi’s new year eve dream (nightmare? LOL) and how they don’t take all the limelight for themselves but support the team by uplifting their teammates instead and making sure they have the space and freedom to do what they want (daichi always picking up receives on court despite being a spiker, coups always talking to the company and sitting in on meetings even when he doesn’t have to be there….. dads…)

jeonghan and suga: both pretty faces with a penchant for stirring shit LOL like. I always thought both of them were really similar in this aspect, cause although they are definitely both core emotional pillars for their teammates and members, they also stir up a lot of shit and join in on a lot of shenanigans (think Suga riling up daichi for fun and how that is… very similar to how jeonghan screws around w coups) but they’re also v caring and sweet at the same time… we love duality and consistency……

hoshi and nishinoya: ok. I actually think hoshi’s a mix of kags and nishinoya, but def more noya….. like they both have their personal Brand - noya’s rolling thunder, hoshi’s tiger agenda, they’re both reliable and cornerstones of a certain important skill in their teams, and they both have this willpower and determination to fight it out and improve on themselves. not! to mention how they’re like disciplined but also ridiculously chaotic with the rest of their teammates as well and how they’re always both doing dumb stuff…….. (booseoksoon and the tanaka/hinata/noya circus)

dk and asahi: I think this is a comparison that has been made quite a lot as well! clearly, both dk and asahi are the aces (dk as the main vocal and asahi…. is literally an ace) but they’re also prone to insecurity and constantly asking a lot of themselves….. although they’re not completely the same (as is for all the pairs here) I think the way they’re both kinda timid and demand a lot from themselves is p similar and! I also love them both very much

dino and hinata: ok while. I think dino’s a lot smarter than hinata, I think their work ethic is pretty similar - think dino who literally grew up dancing and how much passion and drive he has to prove himself and improve in that regard, and how much he loves it as well. this to me is p similar to Hinata’s unabashed love for volleyball - their ambition is also p similar to me, in that they don’t shy away from professing their desire to win and to become the best (dino’s artist who will go down in history ambition and hinata’s one-track determination to become the greatest) also the both of them just have a lot of energy and ! sprite! also dino’s laugh is. so sunny it screams hinata’s sunny vibe.

ok so basically in conclusion,, this whole thing was just for me to get my feelings out a lil bit and organise some vague comparisons I had thought about. i really hope there’s a significant enough overlap between the two fandoms so more people can appreciate and understand what I’m saying so we can talk about it!! I personally think it’s super interesting how I’m the most involved in these two fandoms, and how they have so many similarities… I think it reveals the values that I value in judging others, and I’d urge you to consider and reflect on the things/ people/ shows you like and see if there are any similarities there! going a lil meta on myself has been really fun so please! don’t be shy to talk to me about this and any other similarities you might find between anime and kpop LOL

JIN — SOMEBODY…@defendkimseokjin…decided to ruin my life and helped jin snatch me in part by demanding a fic based off of these pics so that’s what’s coming out next!!! probably!!! don’t wanna say too much but i’m playing around with the “drunk confession” cliche. also was inspired to write this thing in which Jin is an old money socialite (and an asshole) and Reader, new money, winds up at this big weekend party he throws on his family’s private island? and…Things Happen? idk I’m still working on it

HOSEOK — as mentioned months ago at this point! frat/fuckboi Hoseok became something absolutely monstrous. will be of epic length, probably broken up into two or three parts…and the weird thing where Reader’s friend is geting married and Hoseok, who she’s got some sort of past with, is the choreographer for this dance being performed at the reception? I know how random it sounds but just…trust me it’ll be good. I think.

JIMIN — I’ve been planning the “duality of man” inspired fic for like? five months now. I started planning it the day after I saw BTS so…April 2nd? what the hell. I’ve written like…three paragraphs of it though!!! so that’s something. also the previously mentioned Modern Magical World AU which is entirely outlined and just…waiting :)

TAEHYUNG — ok so…post-apocalypse!AU but nuclear fallout style. Reader has made a living out of venturing outside of her safe city collecting personal items for ppl but one day she goes out too far and encounters new, unexpected dangers…she is badly injured, and after collapsing on her way home, she wakes up in a bunker where a man who has slowly lost his sanity, who hasn’t left the bunker since everything started, who calls himself The Tinker lives…if that sounds dumb to you I agree but idk I’m trying to make it work

JUNGKOOK — of course, the second part of What I Found In You. but in the interest of transparency, I haven’t written ANY of this yet and it’s not going to be the next thing I post…or the next thing after that, probably. I know, I’m the worst fiery burning trash and I deserve to suffer

YOONSEOK — another post-apocalypse!AU but this one IS about zombies AND it’s got poly!yoonseok x Reader. and I’m probably gonna KILL PEOPLE OFF IN IT! I mean you can’t expect me to let everyone survive in a zombie apocalypse AU, damn

SEVENTEEN

JUN — Reader and Jun were together. and then they weren’t, and that’s where our story picks up as they are trying to find someone else to gel with romantically and sexually...and failing miserably at that endeavor. so they find their way back to each other. but! in a rlly toxic kind of way ://

SOONYOUNG — so!!! I spent weeks outlining a whole 5 to 7 chapter fic called Absolutely Smitten in which Soonyoung and Reader are young high school teachers, Soonyoung is a dance coach and Reader teaches English…but I think the meticulous planning, which was needed!!!, killed off my interest in writing it. temporarily. but it has been a real labor of love and one day soon I’ll bring it back to life!!! also this fic I planned where he’s a drug dealer and his special stuff is called Hoshi and he gets Reader into a bad crowd and it’s a whole...thing...it’s actually rlly dark :)))

WONWOO — awhile back somebody requested “finding the perfect love but also having to separate because of it” and it went along with this soulmate AU that I had thought of, and that I’ve written this perfect perfect perfect end to. the goal is to make everyone cry when they read it. when I post it about thirty years from now!!!!!!!! it’ll be part of a soulmate series I’m doing for both SVT and BTS though

JIHOON — …..an…epilogue to Customer Satisfaction :)

MINGYU — I said this before but Customer Satisfaction is part of something I called the “9to5!series” in which Seventeen/sometimes Reader are inserted into retail types of jobs AND I’M doing one where Mingyu is the cute pizza delivery guy who Reader can’t help but be infatuated (obsessed) with but like…who could help it

HANSOL — another part of the soulmate series in which Hansol is Reader’s soulmate BUT! he dies before they can meet in real life, and then they start meeting and fall in love only in Reader’s dreams… :)

CHAN — I’ll reiterate it was supposed to be for his birthday!!! fluff in which grump Chan goes to the fair with the guys and *surprise* he meets The One there and spends the rest of the night trying to impress them

SERIES??? I FEEL THESE SHOULD BE MENTIONED

OK BEAR WITH ME HERE!!!

the mysterious, elusive 9to5!series. everyone’s jobs are planned! i won’t say who’s what but here are some workplaces to look forward to: ice cream parlor, movie theater, flower shop, pet store, etc.

what I have affectionately titled BASEBALL!BANGTAN, obviously it’s BTS exclusive and you know what?? maybe nobody wants this but I, for one, love baseball and have put A LOT OF thought into these. every member’s story is a part of the same linear timeline in one season but with different Readers, of course. also the team is called the Bangtan Bombers. they’ll be written and posted in chronological order starting with Jin whose main story takes place in the pre-season and ending with Jungkook whose main story takes place at the end of the post-season. I’ve meticulously thought out and planned who plays what position and exactly what kind of player they’d be and idk. another real labor of love

THE SOULMATE SERIES!!! I have a list of soulmate AU’s but none of them are assigned and soulmate AU’s are the air that I breathe so I need this to be perfectly planned and executed…so it’ll take awhile

last but not least, I’ll write a bunch of domestic drabbles that I’ve already planned and assigned ppl for. they’ll be short and I should be able to write and post a bunch of those in no time :)
