Anyone else completely normal about the scene with Omega and Tech in The Crossing and Omega says 'we're a family, aren't we?' and the writers could have 100 percent could have had Tech say 'technically, we do not fall under the traditional family structure' or something like that and we would have been mildly disappointed but unsurprised but instead they had him acknowledge that they are a family and even saying 'of course' they're a family which just was such a beautiful moment in which he breaks autism stereotypes and is just a beautiful person that I love?
So everything is necessary. Every least thing. This is the hard lesson. Nothing can be dispensed with. Nothing despised. Because the seams are hid from us, you see. The joinery. The way in which the world is made. We have no way to know what could be taken away. What omitted. We have no way to tell what might stand and what might fall.
Honest to god, I think that was my favorite episode. Like holy shit. Last weeks stuff was good, gave some good insight to the politics and blah blah blah. But I LIVE for the characters moments. And this episode, this episode was it.
Just some thoughts, because I need to get them out.
The fact that Tech and Wrecker were fighting was honestly some of the most sibling energy we’ve seen. We can tell tensions are high because they just lost a member even if he is going to be back. It’s still a big change for all of them. And I thought it was very natural dialogue between them.
I also really enjoyed Tech’s arc in this one. I just… can’t put it into words like I’m sure some people will. But it was really nice getting to see this side of him. A sarcastic smart solider who loves his family dearly, just isn’t the best at handling the emotional stuff.
I loved Hunter and Wrecker too, they are trying so hard for their little sister.
And Omega, she is I think my favorite. I love her honesty with the batch, her frustrations with their sealed off emotions and how she brings out the best in them. The moment in the tunnel with her all alone and she turned off the lantern. Idk, it got to me.
Anyway, I just love this show and I love this family. I can’t wait to see what else they do with them. Can’t wait for next week.
In the episode, "The Crossing," Omega falls into the darkness and vanishes from Tech's sight. He hesitates only briefly before leaping blindly after her.
At that moment he has no idea what lies at the bottom of the crevasse. He knows it is very likely Omega did not survive the fall... and yet he still jumps. In his mind, two possibilities exist. Either Omega is alive and he still has a chance to save her. Or... Omega is dead, and therefore, Tech does not care if the fall kills him, too, because life without Omega holds no value to him.
In "Plan 99," Tech falls, and Omega strains to follow after him, just as he did for her in the ipsium mine. Again, she doesn't care if she dies with him, because she can't face the idea of living without him.
The difference is, Omega is stopped by Hunter. She is not given the choice of sacrificing her life. It's a heartwrenching parallel, and just another indication of how incredibly close Tech and Omega have become.
I know we're all thinking it, so I'm just going to say it.
Tech is Huyang, Huyang is Tech. These two are the same person or besties, no in between. (And by that, I do NOT at all mean that Tech is robotic or like a droid or emotionless. If anything I'm looking at how human Huyang is--please don't take this post and run with it in the wrong direction).
Their sass, technical abilities, no-nonsense practicalities, golden-tinted lenses and predilection for speaking the truth are unparalleled. (And endearing). I had to compare and contrast The Crossing with Time to Fly and was surprised at just how many parallels there were besides the "truth" quote. I can think of other Tech quotes that would fit as well but didn't want to dig through more episodes.
Anyway, enjoy these sassy bois juxtaposed with each other (and their patience-thin partners in crime).
And, of course, the big one.
Also, for the love of...Disney, please make your Star Wars shows brighter so the editing of screenshots isn't such a painstaking process.
I love the looks Tech and Omega exchange in 'The Crossing' after they have their heart to heart in the ipsium cave. Tech is so supportive of Omega's asking Cid for help, backing up his sister's plea with facts that Cid owed them. Working like a tag team. Bonus shot of Tech's expressionless disgust with Cid, because he's had it with her, lol.
