Okay, so. Um. Chapter 423.
Seeing people's reactions I have to say some things. And let me preface this by saying that I don't believe this is truly it. But.
The issue isn't even that Izuku (seemingly) failed to save the person he wanted to save from AFO (well, it is an issue, actually, but not the main point. Also, the fact that his and vestiges' plan to reach Tenko is also what ensured Tomura's death is just so... ), and it's not that he's weirdly distant and cold in this chapter.
It's the fact that not a single one of them actually acknowledged anything that they saw and heard in Shigaraki's mind. Neither of them talked about what AFO told Tomura - the fact that Tomura didn't say anything about what he learned about his quirk, his purpose and the fact that he never truly wanted to kill his family is especially mind-boggling. And Deku didn't say anything about the revelation that Tomura never really had a chance or a choice from the very start either. There was no self-relfection on either side, no real conversation, and there also was no real understanding between the two being reached. It's the fact that Deku instantly stopped caring or wondering about Tenko/Tomura the moment AFO came back, being completely willing to pulverise his body when just a few chapters ago he refused to do that when Nana told him to. It's the fact that he didn't react to Kurogiri pleading for Tomura and Bakugou just killed (???? maybe not, it's hard to understand) the man. It's the fact that the vestiges still being alive and Nana saving Tomura (oh hey, guess her whole family actually all died to AFO, unable to truly smile) was off-screened.
This is not people blaming Izuku. This is just people complaining about straight up bad writing.
Even if Tenko is still alive (And Kurogiri wasn't killed by Bakugou too, but I feel like Kurogiri is just too doomed to survive anyway), that doesn't erase the weirdness that this chapter was. It would still be salvageable, I guess, depending on what happens next, but good lord, the damage was certainly done.
And if Tenko is really dead, but we'll just see more of Midoriya's reaction to that in the following chapters, this would still be fucking horrible.
I love Deku. I love his emotions, how genuine he is, how empathetic he is. He is just a kid forced into an awful situation. This is not a jab at him as much as it is a jab at the author and the writing here. Because how in the world does the protagonist fail at doing what he wanted to do harder than the supporting cast with their villains? Why was Toga and Uraraka's final chapter more genuine and emotional that THIS - the protagonist and the main antagonist's last conversation????? Why was Ochako more upset about realising that Toga is about to kill herself than Deku was in those chapters?

Imperfect by qween_bee
Summary: Babies are born with a soul mark on the back of their neck, similar to a tattoo. The soul mark is generally referred to simply as a person’s mark, and each person’s mark is unique. When a person falls in love, the soul mark of whoever they’ve fallen in love with will appear somewhere on their body. Some people literally wear their heart all over their sleeve… some people get real tattoos to cover the marks of lost lovers. Most people bear the marks of their parents, and vice versa.
Izuku got Katsuki’s soul mark when he was four. Katsuki didn’t get Izuku’s mark until they were in high school, and it threw a wrench into the delicate relationship they’d formed as rivals.

Shielding Your Heart by ReadingToMusic
Summary: When Katsuki's soulmate, Izuku, is declared legally dead, he's furious. Not because he's angry his nerd went and died, but because his soulmark, the thing tying them together at the most intimate level possible, still has colour in it.
If Izuku was dead, the colour would be gone. Everyone knows that, but no one cares, so Katsuki's going to find his nerd his damn self if he has to. Unfortunately, there's an idiot extra with shitty hair that won't stop touching him, but at least Racoon Eyes has his back.
Ultimately, it takes a manchild wearing a dead hand on his face for Katsuki to make progress in finding Izuku, but hey, nothing worth having comes easy, right?

Summary: Izuku loves several different things in his life but if he has to choose a favourite one, it would probably be the ability to see colour in Katsuki's eyes. Which he has been able to since they were four years old.
Lately, though, it seems Izuku's unwavering belief in happily ever afters and on the bond he shares with him is starting to crack. What he sees through those cracks is grey and lifeless and he wonders if he will ever be happy living life without Katsuki in it.
Katsuki and Izuku are soulmates. Katsuki rejected him years ago... or so Izuku thinks.

Fire, Blood, and Snow by @amarisllis
Summary: Katsuki opens his mouth to bark out a question, to ask him what the fuck he’s doing here and why he isn’t inside getting warm like the rest of the sane population of their village, when Deku’s lashes flutter as he steps closer, a groan falling from his mouth. Katsuki freezes, his whole body chilling to a temperature colder than the snows surrounding them.
There’s blood seeping through Izuku’s coat, over his glove where his hand presses against his side.

Summary: The words that bloom on Katsuki’s arm are painfully familiar, to the point that he can hear the grating, wobbly voice saying them in his ear. They’re specific in a damning way, but at the same time vague enough that it could be someone else who says them. Someone he still has to meet in a situation that hasn’t yet occurred.
…Okay, so that’s a bunch of bullshit and he’s not pathetic enough to cling to desperate hope like that for too long. But he’s got some time to convince himself it’s possible his soulmate is someone else. Anyone else.
Deku’s birthday is still a few months away, after all.

>They are really following the “saving child shigaraki” path 💀
No? Well, yes, but Deku seeing what happened to Tenko and talking to Tenko was always going to happen, it doesn't mean that only child Tenko gets saved lol. Tenko is Shigaraki's origin, his core, his genuine ideas, his honne (true feelings and desires). Of course Deku has to understand and save Tenko to save adult!Tenko, lol. Nobody seemed to complain when child!Ochako was talking to child!Himiko and etc., so what's up with some people's attitude now? 😭
I think the fandom is a bit paranoid because they really fear some theories.
I sometimes entertain those theories just to fuck around and create what ifs. It's a mere childplay. "Oh what if the school burned today and we all graduated earlier" type of mindset. The odds of it happening are non-existent, but c'mon. Unless you plan to burn the school yourself or you know someone will try, the odds are almost zero.
"but somewhere in the world a school burned—"
Sure, some mangas decide to end things the worst way possible only to cause shock, to fuck with fans, for money, sometimes simply because they don't understand their own stories. Even the big mangas is subjected to that. The author can go bananas for whatever reason and give you a terrible ending.
From my perspective, Horikoshi has rarely lost sight of the story he wants to tell. If he opens a plotline, he takes care to close it later. We got our traitor, we got the resolution with the Todorokis, we got AFO, class 1B, the villain comebacks...
Even when there were moments I knew Horikoshi went a little on the tangent (like Stars and Stripes) he was quick to return to the main issue. In bnha, to get an answer for your question you only have to wait for the manga to explain it— or in some cases, check the spin-off. If the answer is not in bnha itself, it normally is in the Vigilantes manga.
When someone asks me "Hey Shan, do you think that is possible?" the correct answer is always yes, because as long as the story is not over anything can happen. Objectively speaking, yes, it is as possible as anything else. As long as you're alive a lightning strike can hit you. A shark can bite you. An alien can come for you. The odds are there.
Now, is it probable?
No, not much.
Turning Tomura into a child to erase his crimes and resolve Deku's role within the plot is not only the lazy route, but also a disservice to the story. People don't resurrect out of nowhere in bnha. Limbs don't grow again. This is a story where the consequences are permanent. Even saving Mirio had a cost. There are only a few characters that can magically heal and their participation is soo little, it's almost as if they weren't there.
Each story has rules. You don't care about the real life rules or your own law code or whatever; you care about the inner rules of that story.
So far, Horikoshi has taken care of not breaking the inner rules of bnha. Why would he do so now?
Another bnha trait is that it doesn't stay stagnant on a plotline that is interesting yet irrelevant to the main story. It also doesn't hurry the story if it needs to go down a certain path. It will happen on its own time, after the events that need to happen had happened too. Example: saving Tomura has been a whole process. If Horikoshi were to turn Tomura into a child, why would he show all that he has shown us?
That's 'cause Horikoshi is explaining Deku's choice of saving Tomura. I know the trend of separating Tomura from Tenko, but it's absurd. They are one and the same. The kid is the adult and vice versa. You save the kid version, you save the adult one too. In order to save the adult one, you need to save the kid first. And if you went all the way to save that person, why would you want to erase all of it and turn them into a child again?
Isn't the story about how Deku giving little Tenko a chance? Isn't the story about Deku telling others they can do the impossible? Didn't Nighteye say that Deku could change the future and now we see him also changing the past, if only to allow the present to be a little more bearable? Livable?
I'll say this here: the theory that dictates that the heroes will turn the villains into kids to save them and the villains will stay like that has absolutely no foundation within the story.
If it happens, it's bad writing.
Horikoshi uses the kid images as symbolism. It is meant to represent the core of a person. It's the part of them that would never change, the part of them that dictates their dreams and goals, what they hate and love, who they are. It's the most basic of their forms, their essence, their soul if you want to speak on those terms.
Heroes are meant to connect with those parts of a human in order to save them, because the job of a hero is not only saving the body, but the human as a whole. To preserve hope, to heal past wounds and give people a reason to smile. To help people laugh as a kid again, to bring back their wonder and their innocence, to fight the apathy and the cynical part of themselves.
Bnha is fantasy. People have powers. The dead can communicate with the living. Of course that the heroes can talk with the childhood versions of the people to heal their past traumas.
Easy as that.
I can't say for sure if the villains will live or die. I only have my opinion (they'll live), but I am not the author. Horikoshi can have an epiphany tomorrow and kill everyone in the story with a meteor. Idk.
I can only say that Horikoshi has presented a cohesive and coherent writing, one that follows the lines it dictates to their natural conclusion. If things stay like that, there's no need to fear none of the crazy theories circulating the fandom. At the end of the day that's all they are, theories.

I have to agree. I will argue that cwac is well written but it's essentially just different characters with a bnha coat of paint, it was written so many years ago where it could've technically been a direction taken but canon has deviated so far from it no longer resembles anything close to it. The problem begins when some take it as a canon interpretation when it was not leading to infighting and misreading of canon events and character, although this is no fault of the author who I believe is still very talented.
When I first got into the fandom circa 2018, right before Hawks debuted, I was super obsessed with Deku and so CWAC was up my alley. But the moment I started paying attention to the villains, somehow it clearly dawned on me how not only OOC the story was but just how much the author clearly dislikes characters like Shigaraki or Dabi and how much it shows, fairly juvenile-y.
I won't argue that the author isn't talented, but over the years a friend who was also a very Big Writer at the time of CWAC's popularity 2018-ish has told me how discussions about the League went very badly.
The issue still is the fandom. I absolutely blame DFO on CWAC and the other work of the author that the name escapes me. Even now, when I look at DFO dynamics or the weird afo inko obsession they absolutely clearly have elements from the fic, so essentially what CWAC did was establish such a clear fanon that even non-fic readers have taken it as part of the theory.
I mean, again this is more the issue of the fandom in general just clinging on to very old perceptions of characters and plots. I'm going to rant about that below.
I'll use Tomura as an example because what made me dislike CWAC was the handling of him when I started to realize just how rich Horikoshi made Tomura 's character. Some shig-haters never get passed Kamino in what they think of him, and there are the LOV stans who haven't caught up with the idea that actually the MLA arc was *bad* for the League and are still in the viewpoint that the villains are revolutionaries. So there's these spaces where Shigaraki is just seen as a murderous incel versus Shigaraki is Che Guevara incarnate.
And these echo chambers are so removed from each other that very often little nuance penetrates, so you have incredibly established fanon truths that are rarely deviated from and people just stop examining the source material. Then conflict arises when you leave the echo chamber and talk to someone else.
Also worth mentioning is that the fandom echo chambers manage to function as they do by assigning moral values to any "thought crimes" that don't line up with accepted fanon-"canon". Don't think the League are super-radicals who will actually liberate society and create a Marxist utopia? Well you're a capitalist pig who supports cops, bye. You can see it with the very hardcore hero stans who think liking a villain means condoning murder too, "why do you like terrorists?" Or come into my inbox to tell me Jin's murder was justified. Fandom is very good at policing itself into cliques, to the detriment of everyone, I think.
It also, I think, created the situation where people in this fandom genuinely hate the work, keep reading it in bad faith due to those ingrained fanon expectations and preconceptions of what the work should be, and then get more and more resentful as time goes on and their views are not even acknowledged.
Seriously, just look back at the reaction of hero stan Twitter and reddit bros at Himiko's whole fight with Ochako. There was so much hatred of how Himiko was being redeemed.
There are still canon DFO fans. I feel sorry for those who had to look at this chapter and realize that what they've sunk so much time into was not real. Disappointment hurts, man.
Anyway, thanks for listening to me rant. I find it fascinating in an academic sense how so much of fandom was shaped by a fic and I wonder if at some point someone will examine it critically.

Hawks has the potential to be the greatest kidnapper of all time and he pulled 76 people out of a building while manipulating each feather individually.
There's an anime scene where he dodges bullets and out speeds men with guns. He's faster than Endeavor, Deku, and Bakugo. He's explicitly faster than people with super speed quirks.
This manga loves for people to forget their capabilities for dramatic effect. The story nerfs or buffs people according to whatever the narrative needs at the moment.
For example, Compress was able to marble HIMSELF in the forest camp arc. Later, we see him tear his own body apart to escape his bindings and this ability is nowhere to be found.
Hawks killing Twice was one of the most ridiculous scenes in the manga because he didn't even have to talk to him. He could have kicked this guy's head in and knocked him out before he could react, and been out of there.
We saw him do this to a flasher! It takes Hawks zero effort to knock humans out. He doesn't even have to look at them.
imgur.com/a/9vNxGAn
Twice doesn't have anything that gives him extra durability and he'd go down like anyone else would. Literally the exact same sneak attack Hawks did to him in canon could have been designed to knock him out rather than cut up his muscles so Hawks could insult him, taunt him, and then give the most unconvincing recruitment speech ever.
So the guy intentionally dragged this out for an absurd song and dance to try to half assedly convince him? Why?
Anything he needed to say to Jin could have been done in a cell when Twice woke up again.
Assuming Hawks took Jin down cleanly and abducted him, he may have even been able to come back to try and take out another League member.
Like Dabi. Hawks could do some real damage if he got the drop on him. Or forget Dabi. He could have went after Himiko or Compress and left Dabi to someone who isn't weak against him.
That's the frustrating part of discourse about this.
Everyone just takes the story at face value and ignores what we've seen people do before.
This plan was stupid. Hawks is stupid. The entire situation was contrived. None of it should have happened based on who we know Hawks to be and what he's capable of, but because the author wanted to create a situation in which Hawks killed Twice, it happens this way.
It reminds me of the Zack Snyder Superman movie Man Of Steel where the author wrote Superman into a corner specifically so that he'd need to kill a guy who was about to laser eye beam a family.
So Superman snaps his neck.
He later asked "What else could he have done?"
Well, he could have gouged out his eyes, or broken the lower part of his spine, or repeatedly slammed the guy's head into the ground. He could have choked him until he lost consciousness, or dragged him under water and held him under the surface until he passed out.
All of these are a lot less lethal than snapping a guy's neck and show the character attempting to keep to his no kill policy.
We go from something 100% fatal to something that has the potential to be fatal but could not be. While still allowing him to achieve his objective.
It wraps around to Hawks again. If he was really so worried about Twice's potential danger, why wasn't his first action to chop off the guy's hands?
Overhaul got his arms ripped off and he couldn't use his power. It's known that Twice's power was in is hands.
Maiming someone is bad, but it's not as bad as murder.
This whole thing had the most limp dicked ending ever. The guy murders someone on live TV and no one gives a shit. His wings don't get burned off despite Tokoyami exclaiming that, once again showing that Dabi's not worth shit when it comes to actually killing or harming named characters. And then his character becomes about being Endeavor's hype man. He, a kid who lived with an abusive father, also does not care about his idol being an abuser.
I'm not asking for a conga line of everyone shaming these guys, but at least we could get a scene of them wanting to sit with other hero characters at the cafeteria and then everyone standing up and sitting down at a different table.
Maybe Burnin' tells Endeavor that she and the rest of the sidekicks are quitting after the war is over, because she doesn't even know who her boss is anymore.
This is what you'd see in an episode of Law and Order. Why have events happen if they mean nothing and don't lead to anything?
What's Tokoyami think about this? We don't see it. He still loves Hawks. Would Tokoyami kill a person? The story doesn't care much about Tokoyami, but it would be nice if he and Hawks discussed this.
If he doesn't think Hawks did anything wrong, would have have done the same thing in his shoes?
I feel sorry for anyone who liked Hawks. It must be painful to watch how they massacred your boy.
You covered almost everything i have issues with when it comes to hawks vs twice and the lack of relevant consequences after the first war arc.
All the people arguing that hawks had to kill twice because they can't fathom their fav actually doing something morally reprehensible is already bad enough but it becomes so much worse when, as you said, in one of his first scenes in the manga Hawks knocks a guy unconscious with his wings without even looking at him.
I read the war arc chapters as they came out weekly and when the chapter where hawks killed twice dropped i was obviously devastated and very sad for twice, but i was also so excited for what this would mean for hawks' character in the future cause at the time everyone foolishly believed horikoshi actually had something interesting to say with his character. It's obvious now he didn't.
I said it before but Hawks' story perfectly mirrors mha's story as a whole: it started out posing very interesting questions about the morality of hero society and its insidious inner workings which were covered up by a shining facade of flawlessness, but it ended up abandoning all those questions in favor of a more simplistic, easy and frankly underwhelming conclusion.
I'll never get tired of saying Hawks is a wasted character and most of his fans only like a fanon version of him they've read on ao3 cause they can't stomach the fact that he was robbed of his arc and given a horrible conclusion as endeavors bootlicker.

got another bot-spam comment on ao3, but this one is extra weird. let’s do some investigating!
Tumblr media
for those not in the know, The Haunting is my dark whumpy “todoroki gets adopted by aizawa” fic. it’s also 60k words long. so right away i’m doubting this person read it. that plus the generic vibes? bot comment. but i’m also pretty sure i’ve heard of this channel before, specifically because it wasn’t crediting authors. hm. so i go check it out: http://www.youtube.com/@DnWhatIf
first of all, these are the videos i’m greeted with:
Tumblr media
now, i don’t want to bash anyone’s taste, but this is so extremely not my thing. nooooo way. some of these read more like crackfic, which is fine, but tonally the difference is SO much. and just makes it even more glaringly obvious that they aren’t reading the fics they’re spamming or even giving them a cursory once-over (or putting strong filters on the bot? i’m not clear how bot comments work)
because this is the first thing you see about The Haunting:
Tumblr media
i’m guessing, if it wasn’t completely random, it’s the fact that i tagged izuku as a character. and really it’s just lazy, the whole thing. it’s all bots. ai art in the thumbnail, ai voice reading the fic, bot making comment spam for you. zero respect. if this was an actual podficcer i would consider it! hell, i might even accept ai voice readings (MAYBE), if it was obvious there was a human person who cared behind them. it could certainly be a tool for good, since podficcing isn't very common (we love you podficcers. if i had a little bit more confidence i would be one of you).
but anyway, hang on, lets back up a step, because the whole reason i looked into this was the credits issue. the video “what if deku became a teacher at ua” (ugh) (i hate the title gimmick also) is going to be my guinea pig.
so in the little intro (also done by ai), it says “all credits to their respective authors” which, yikes. however, they do link to their permission statement and the fic in the description, so it….could be worse. but also, these are the comments
Tumblr media
(and it continues like that for a bit)
the channel name also has a 4.0 after it [edit: it did when i started this post, then i got distracted for two days, and now it is gone. hm], which implies they’ve had a lot of trouble with keeping it up. so it seems likely that this is the channel i heard about stealing fics, they just finally learned to get permission and give credit to try and keep it up this time. the permission statement on this video is real (i wondered if they would just link to something else and assume no one would check), but even THAT author references being “freaked out” (positive?? unsure) when they heard of people finding their story on youtube. before giving permission to upload with credit. so that’s not great
also this sludgepit of content is absolutely the thing that attracts people with no patience clamoring for updates literally one day after the video goes up. go figure. bad vibes all around.
also, if you’re wondering about the quality of the reading (i’ve stumbled on some pretty good ai voices as of late!), it’s, uh. i don’t actually know about how all this works, but i feel like when you pick a voice to read a story it should at least be able to approximate character name pronunciation. and flow.
but alas.
i also don't want to bash the authors in question but the truth is from the very minimal poking around i did (not giving this channel any more of my time than absolutely necessary), the writing featured is....mediocre at best. which is fine and good for the fandom ecosystem and i will NEVER be anything but happy that people are writing and posting less-than-perfect works, especially since some of these premises are pretty unique and i think it's better to have the fic than not. we all start somewhere, fanfic is an excellent way to practice and get feedback at the same time, etc.
but these channels, these kinds of operations, they're going to prey on new and young authors and that's who is going to be saying yes to them. because they want the exposure, they want to be told their work is good enough for someone else to care to record it for youtube, they haven't been around long enough to recognize this for what it is: someone taking extreme shortcuts to get views and likes and a bit of notoriety off of other people's work. and that's shit.
and remember that youtube videos can be monetized!
now, i doubt this channel in particular has been monetized, although it does meet the minimum requirements as far as numbers go:
Tumblr media
it shouldn't meet the requirements for the monetization policies, specifically these ones:
Tumblr media
especially with the disclaimer in the beginning that the content is not their own--which might be why previous versions of the channel did not give credit. who knows.
however, youtube DID just have some scandals about people making videos that were pretty much entirely plagiarized, which were monetized, so i don't have the highest hopes in the world. still, it doesn't seem monetized, so no strikes against this particular creator for that, at least, but defo something to look out for if anyone ever brings up hosting podfics on youtube.
so yeah, bot spam, not a complete scam this time but definitely really sketchy, bad vibes all around. and i still kind of want to give them permission to use my fic just to see what would happen, lmao

You know those vigilante deku fics?
Those but he transmigrates in Shen Qingqiu. I have no idea why, but I’m absolutely obsessed with this. I just add characters into svsss from mha and imagine Bingge reacting to them interacting somehow…
It’s funny
Oh dear... it wouldn't work out well because Izuku views things in black and white and feels very... social justice warrior-eques that I feel like he can't even kill a rabbit for dinner.
Liu Qingge is going to think that this version of Shen Qingqiu somehow got even prissy and more fake with all that self-righteousness.
As for Izuku himself, he's really going to struggle due to:
the cultural difference of not just Japanese vs. Chinese but also modern (quirked) world vs. cultivation xianxia culture
dude still lives with his mom. Do you think he knows even enough self care to survive by himself??
he just lost his mom :(
cultivators have sharp hearing... and izuku likes to mumble and write his notes like everywhere. He's going to expose himself real fast.
he isn't much older than the disciples and izuku has very little self confidence in general - he's not going to exclude out Teacher Energy and his authority over the peak will quickly shrink as people realize how they can run roughshod over this new version of Shen Qingqiu
Yeah no, this is a terrible combination that will only end horribly. Now an adult hero!Izuku as Yue Qingyuan and Katsuki as Shen Qingqiu on the other hand...

First of all, I want to clarify that I'm not sending an ask trying to bashing Bakugou, however I would like to know your opinion about what his role would be in this ending, since we supposedly entered the final arc a lot has happened and there is still a lot to happen, Toga and Uraraka haven't had their real showdown yet, Touya, Shoto and Endeavor's role isn't done yet and Midoriya and Tomura haven't had a lot of panels focused on themselves yet, but we can see that Horikoshi is leading them to the expected confrontation. However, I still can't see Bakugou's role in all this, taking analysis that says he must have a role in all this saving Tomura, the truth is that such a role is more of a demand seeking to give him prominence than something that It has truly raised the story, beyond the fact that Bakugou's redemption and him learning another way of being a heroe. But even so I can't find his role beyond this, giving him prominence involving him with Tomura is only for the good of his character and his fans who want him to have prominence in the story, I imagine that Horikoshi is going to work the character from the point that he should accept Midoriya's decision to save Tomura, because there is no way that this thought of saving the villain sprouts out of nowhere if we consider that the closest thing we Bakugou understands that it's necessary to save the villains was when he didn't oppose Todoroki's plans, which makes sense since he isn't involved or has personal feelings about Touya, but he has it with Tomura, which is why Bakugou's idea was to fight to kill, since he said it himself, he didn't care if it was AFO or Tomura, it makes no difference to him.
Bakugou's Character Plotline;
Tumblr media
Thanks for the ask anon.
Honestly, i am not really sure how author is gonna add him but one thing we know is he is definitely gonna have important plotline since he is fan favorite and author's favorite.
Before making theories, i want to talk about what i was expecting Bakugou as character ;
1- Bakugou and His Potential as Character;
Tumblr media
I really want story to focus on bullying that happenned in their past but not just Bakugou's part. I wanted story to explore Deku's feeling for his own pain.
Logically, there is no reason Deku to like Bakugou as friend because they were not friends, he bullied him and Bakugou didnt even like Deku, until he had one for all. Their feelings should've explored more. Only explanation can be Deku has stockholm sendrome towards Bakugou which is never really adressed. Same as Shouto who has no reason to be friends with Bakugou. I mean, why would Shouto want to be friends with someone who acts like his abuser? They only get close because those three are the strongest as heroes. I am not saying that they should never be friends but it feels so ooc and forced. Because their friendship isnt earned but forced. They could be friends after Bakugou started working on himself without abusing others, that would be nice. Though, they dont even have to be friends, not everyone has to get along with everyone, thats the thing. And honestly he definitely should be punished and face consequences for his actions, just like any other characters.
Tumblr media
Because Deku clearly felt anger and fear towards Bakugou and he and society is the reason he view himself as worthless and became self destructive but as story goes, most BakuDeku moment focused on Bakugou's feeling and whether Deku just had to accept or endure it. And only thing Deku said about their past is 'You were so cool thats why i chase after you.' And they started working together only Allmight told them to because of 'win to save' and 'save to win'.
Personally, i dont like 'win to save' plotline because only reason a person would prioritize winning against others would be for their ego which is not a good thing. Except if that winning turn into winning against myself to be better version of me, instead of competiting with others, if you race with yourself, thats when you can truly improve. That would be really good lesson for Bakugou and he can be the one who turn toxic competition between heroes to healthy one. That would be amazing.
Tumblr media
Bakugou is gifted child but since he is supposed to learn what he did to Deku and kids like him is wrong, that he shouldnt put himself above on others, maybe he can be the one who would see toxic parts of the system, such as hero community. He doesnt necessarely need a villain foil, he is not part of the 'saving villains' group so adding him there without build is not good and Bakugou already has dark foils. He is parallel with Endeavour, which Bakugou supposed to learn to be better to not turn out like him. He is parallel with Hawks, gifted childs. He is also parallel with Kouta and Koutaro (Deku's relationship with Bakugou is parallel with Tenko's relationship with Koutaro). Since hero society is messed up, even heroes, i really want to see conflict between heroes, especially between kid heroes and adult heroes. Bakugou would be one of the main ones who fight against adult heroes or system.
Those are my general expectations from Bakugou and his character arc. But well, lets focus on what most likely can happen with Bakugou in story.
2- Problem with Writing;
Tumblr media
I think right now main issue with bnha is not just writing with Bakugou but generaly writing hero characters. It seems like author is trying to make them look good person as possible that it ruins their characters because they feel less human, they become more predictable. The only difference between heroes and villains supposed to be just luck. Story showed us many times but it like its all gone.
- Both Bakugou and Deku's character arc is ruined because author didnt explore it properly. Worst part is Bakugou's biggest flaw, his toxicity, his abuse towards Izuku used as humor. And story didnt let Deku to have negative feelings towards Bakugou, its like it erased Deku's anger and what happenned to him and suddenly, they are okay now because they are both heroes who should work together because Allmight said so. This didnt just ruined Deku's character, it also ruined Bakugou's redemption arc because its not earned. Though at least Deku had interesting potential plotline with his saving villains mission while Bakugou doesnt even have that one.
- Not just Deku and Bakugou. At some point, story stopped focusing on corruption of hero society and flaws of heroes. And heroes always win. Deku used to loose almost every fight he had. His biggest flaw is self destruction and he would face conseuences whenever he self desructs but after Overhaul arc, its literally gone. He still doesnt care about himself but story isnt punishing him for it anymore. The way Deku deal with villains seems forced too, the way he empathize with them. It almost like story is trying to say that heroes are always right.
Tumblr media
Bakugou's arc is worse than Deku's because he always win even against Afo, he somehow can fight back and characters in story isnt even allowed to criticise him, he is always right because he is Bakugou.
Class 1 A has no confict between each others. Heroes dont really have confict between each others. They all seem to think same thing and uncontidionally support each others.
Deku, Ochaco and Shouto has a few small panels of talking about wanting to save their villain foil, even though thats the most important thing about their characters and story, we hardly even see what they are thinking and since they dont mention to anyone, they dont even seem to have confict with other heroes. Traitor problem was one of the biggest problem in story but we only get a few chapters, honestly we could get whole arc for it.
Tumblr media
Endeavour's story became 'he wasnt that bad'. Even though, he didnt actively do much as father, story portrays as he did too much. His victim Rei used as readers to sempathize with him with 'he changed because he got me a flower' scene which is horrible. Hawks was one of the most ineteresting characters on hero sides because he was allowed to be dark. Thats what makes his character shine. His relationship with Twice and how dark he was. But after he killed Twice, something about his character just gone because you can tell story is tring to make him look better than he actually is. Not saying that he is bad. It almost like heroes are still heroes so they are not bad, they will always be better than villains, even though being hero is just a job in their world.
-Also there is so many things that didnt explored and adressed, so story's ending here doesnt fit it. It feels like rushing it or maybe, we later will get shippuden style, second part bnha story, idk.
3- What might happen at the end;
Tumblr media
Story portrayed Bakugou's desire to winning (his ego/ambition) as good and heroic thing. Thats most likely why Deku, Ochaco, Shouto, Kirishima and others starts to admiring him and wanting to be friends with him etc etc. Since winning is always core of Bakugou's character, of course, his plotline will focus on that.
He is written to be one of the main characters so he will get big moment, big victory moment that will save everyone, who knows? Maybe, Bakugou will be the one who defeats Afo while Deku, Ochaco and Shouto try to save Shigaraki, Toga and Dabi.
Tumblr media
Bakugou's plotline is also parallel with Endeavour so once again, his character arc might focus on helping Deku so he might support Deku for his decision or try to save him at some point. Maybe he can get some kind of connection with one for all plotline, maybe try to save Deku from self destruction or something.
Bakugou is not part of the 'saving villains' group, there is no set up for him to empathise with them. Especially with Toga, Dabi, Spinner, Twice, Mr Compress. Only progress could be wondering why Shigaraki chose him to kidnap him. Shigaraki gave that speech to him but since Bakugou is the gifted child, he cant relate to 'losers' but he can figure out that villains and heroes are not different because they both are violent in the end. Maybe he can relate to Afo and he might get some epic line.
Tumblr media
I think mainly he will get the big victory moment. Heroes winning will happen with most likely teamwork so Bakugou will be part of it. Thats all can think right now.

An Annoying Trend
You know, as much as I hate the LOV, and the frankly absurd attempts by the story to try to paint them in a sympathetic light because they experienced precisely 1/100th of the suffering they're now inflicting upon countless people.
I do have to admit that, after seeing what a Dabi-stan had to say a while back, I can honestly relate to them a little. Their complaint goes something like this.
"Yeah, and it isn't kind of fucked up that all characters that lash out after being abused become mass killers in every form of media?"
And they're completely right, taste in character aside. It is truly wild how this happens nigh-universally in every series for young adults. But to bring it back to MHA; this continuation of a trend has effectively ruined the villains.
Because they aren't saying anything of substance anymore. They're screaming, flailing children that can't articulate why they are this way and need to rely on the main cast to give vague platitudes about "understanding them". (Which just so happens to make the Heroes look like hypocrites when other villains aren't given the same leeway.)
They have nothing to say about exactly why or how society has failed them, can't properly focus their anger, and are trying to kill literally everyone, thus robbing this conflict of any real moral ambiguity.
Deku and the rest of them don't need to seriously criticize or examine the system they work under, they can just say "I'll try to understand" and then we'll get vague lines about "reforms" in the epilogue. It already happened in the Lady Nagant fight too; instead of thinking about the fact his society had frequent, black-ops extrajudicial executions at all or bringing it up with literally anyone; Deku just says some vague stuff and Nagant is instantly convinced he can change it all now. Then the story moves right along like that never even mattered. And to be fair, it doesn't matter after that; the people killed aren't even named.
And it must be doubly galling for fans of the LOV when the Heroes respond logically and kill the villains they're fans of because the author couldn't resist making them serial killers for no real reason that fits their characters.
Like, imagine making a character that is a semi-realistic depiction of someone let down by society and possibly has an undiagnosed mental illness... Only to then make them complicit in a plot to kill millions of people (a plot that has nothing to do with how they ended up the way they are) just to have a scene where a state operative kills them. Because quite frankly the story couldn't move forward without that character being dead.
Then realize you don't have to imagine that because that's exactly what Hori did with Twice.

I recently read your Something (just like this) fic and oh my god IT'S SO GOOD!! I love how you wrote Deku, Sero and Mineta. He feels like his pervert self, but more mature and fleshed out?! I even thought about his dumbass 'offer' for a second LIKE WHAT, HE KINDA CHARISMATIC...'ok Deku boy I'm switching sides' . You made him so tolerable I even looked forward to reading more of him in the latest chapter, and I audibly shrieked for real, worrying about MINETAS safety at one point like- … You made me look forward to read about this grape-of-a-man…. Your writing skills got me flabbergasted fr.
If you could answer, do you have any future projects you're thinking of writing in mind? Like any characters you'd like to write about as well? Whatever you may be working on in the future it'll be a delight to read! (The question might've been answered but I'm not too familiar with navigating tumblr Oop I apologize!).
The way you structure your sentances is top tier and so easy to understand and follow for someone who's first language isn't english, like mee lmao. Also happy to see an author who take their time on writing and updating as they self seem fit!!! So many authors get burnt out and tired of writing because they ‘must’ update regularly.
Tumblr media
could you imagine if like, Mineta had accompanied Reader back to the suite and then stayed to be drinking buddies on the balcony???? omg…. and then like, they’re passing the bottle of Champange that like, Mineta lifted for them and their eyes meet…. dark and glittery….. I like to think they wouldn’t make out, simply because Mineta is for the Bros and not the Hos, but like…. you know, the tension would’ve been there, and then like, naturally that’s the moment that BAM, DEKU!
don’t mind me im just cackling to myself imagining it. actually, Anon, you’ve reminded me that i’ve been meaning to write a something!mineta one-shot for @vivianvampyric!! we’re a rock-star in it, and if i can find a way to shoehorn like, a theme of repeating damaging patterns/behaviours then i absolutely will. timeline wise it’ll have to happen after something ends sooo… hmm. 🧐 will have to plot it. but it’s on my list of future projects!! don’t apologise for not being able to navigate around this blog/tumblr—i think tumblr is quite a hard site to do anything more than like, click through blogs!! especially when you come to blogs like mine that like, just have no links LOL. i should probably fix that…. i’ve just been lazy. 😔🥺 and tbh i hate any kind of coding, no matter how minimal!!!! i had to get tumblr support to step in and help me fix my links in the blurb/header thing. 😔😔
but omg, please, you have no idea how much your ask delighted me!!!!!! apart from the fics i’ve listed in the above link (which i consider “high priority”), there’s a couple of other fic ideas floating around in my head. Like, there’s a second cowboy idea I’d like to write, but i keep calling it my not-a-fic because a) i don’t want to write the ending (lmao) and b) i’m not even sure i’ll post it when im done. 🧐 i can’t make up my mind, which means i’ve been slow with working on it (and only doing it for fun!).
Thank-you, though. 🥺 You’re very kind for coming by and saying hello—and for saying such nice things. 🥺🌷🌾🍊💜🌴 I’ve been working on the fifth chapter for something so i will make it a point to work faster—and to try and make it just as fun to read. 🥹📖🌷

Writing in new chapters is sure... interesting...
Ngl I actually forgot that Deku and Shiggy are supposed to be improtant because of how they weren't really doing anything.
But what bothers me is that weird decidion to make Tokoyami the one who broke Afo's mask and Enji the one who wants to kill Afo. I mean yeah I like them and I'm exited to see cool endeavor vs afo fight but like... why them? We all know who will finish off afo so what's the point of hyping up endeavor's role in this fight? Same with tokoyami. Like I always knew that Hori loves endeavor but rn it's weird af. And it will suck even more if enji, hawks, tokoyami and jiro, that were beating afo's ass, will suddenly lose because deku will finally get his ass in the location or sth. Makes me question what is the point of shiggy and deku even being there if other characters get monents that imo would fit shigdeku duo better
Yeah. Don't get me wrong I still think Shigaraki and Deku are tag teaming taking down AFO. I think they have some good moments to come, but yeah. I've voiced complaints today, and some of those have changed and some haven't.
So the pathway my frustration took was:
Upset with the Endeavor stuff because it seemed to completely miss the point of his character--->Not really upset with it anymore after the translation because it hit the nail on the head, but the last line still bothers me--->The Endeavor stuff is probably fine and will be expanded on later, and now my main complaint is this completely pointless fight.
I'm fine with what happened on the Todoroki front, it's fine. Or rather I think it'll be fine, because this was supposed to be important for Endeavor and I'm not of the mind that he's completely done either, though I'm kinda tired of waiting on him and would rather him be joined up with his sons, like develop that front pls. But whatever, everything there is fine in my book.
My real issue is----AFO IS NOT ENDEAVOR'S VILLAIN.
Like yes it makes practical sense for them to be matched up at first. But dragging it on this way is exhausting. There is nothing satisfying to be gained from Endeavor fighting AFO, nothing. And we all know he isn't gonna get defeated by Endeavor. Imo AFO should have dipped by now to go to his "other self" as he said he needed to do, or hit the power-up button already so something worthwhile came from this fight by this point. I've been a bit negative today and I don't wanna be, but I'll indulge a little more and say Jirou and Tokoyami taking up chapter space is.....annoying at best. I'm sorry but for me it was. I'd say otherwise maybe if anything resulted on the Hawks front, but even THERE nothing significant has happened.
So really my complaint is just---can we pick up the pace? Or focus on something else? I feel like dedicated two chapters to breaking AFO's mask is ridiculous, because AFO is also extremely flat and boring. And throwing in a power up or a change on his front would have made this chapter better. But instead we broke his mask a second time. And I have no reason to believe it's actually gonna have any lasting positive effects, and will in fact not even matter later. So, yay!
Anyway, this is complaints built up since chapter 352. Not just this chapter. Last chapter imo was boring as hell too. And the frustration is probably from having to wait so long from the breaks (which the author needs, I'm not saying he doesn't), but I think it's a patience issue on my end more than anything.
I'd like to go back to feeling good about the chapters next week now that I kinda got this out of my system lolol. I wish there were more things to analyze and theorize about rn, but it's kinda just flat for now. Hopefully it picks the pace up soon!

Tumblr media
It was a 'regular' evening for the middle child of Bruce Wayne. If you could call it normal. Y/N was a successful businesswoman. She made her own company focusing on cars clothing and housing. She's an entrepreneur. A force to be reckoned with scaring her 4 brothers. Tiny yet very mighty. Watch out boys she'll be coming for you. In a sparkly red dress and five-inch red bottoms. Anyways Y/N is hosting her first fundraiser in Japan as that's where she is taking care of her mother and grandmother. She's invited UA, rich businessmen and women, her family, the top pros, and of course company's that support her.
I was making my rounds saying my thanks and greetings for coming to my first fundraiser. You see I was raising money for my mother's hospital she had to reside for 5 years. Now she's out and I want to do something to give back to the place that helped her get back on her feet. I had introduced myself to some people that I'd never met but I knew I needed to make a good first impression on them because they are so important in the business industry. I was walking and I saw one of the UA students Shoto Todoroki. I'd been dating him for a year. I've known him for a while as my grandmother worked at the mental institution his mother resided at. He was talking to who seemed to be the know number-one hero Endeavor and Natsuo and Fuyumi Todoroki. He was also talking to Deku who he would talk to me about. "Father you should at least consider donating this is a very important event to the host," Shoto said. Endeavor glared at the boy, "I'll use my money however I want and I won't use it for this silly little thing that is just a waste." The nerve of this guy time to work my charm. I slipped past the older siblings. "Hello, I'm the host and founder of this event. I just couldn't help but hear that you think this a 'silly little event' *chuckles* that's quite a gag. However, let me tell you, sir. This isn't silly nor little. I've already managed to raise over 5 million dollars. That's far more than anyone in this room could make in a single day. Unless your last name is Wayne then you probably do make that in a day, maybe even double that. That's not my point though. My point is that if you donate that I'll double that to any organization of your choice. My offer stands till the end of the night." I explained in full detail. It had to work. "You?" I smiled and nodded. "Who are you anyways, how could you double any amount I'd offer?" I smiled and chuckled. "Sir you just talked to the most prestigious person in this room. I'm Y/F/N Wayne. Bruce Wayne's daughter. I'm also CEO of the company Future World Designs." He looked down to my 4' 11" height and paled. "You?" I nodded again. "1,000,000 dollars to UA student alliance." I took out my hand waiting for a handshake. Shoto looked at me and smiled. A real smile. "Oh father before I go and converse with other people I want to introduce you to my girlfriend. Father this is Y/N my girlfriend. Her grandmother was the one to bring us together." I chuckled at the thought, "You gotta admit Sho, my grandmother is probably the most amazingly magical person to ever walk the earth. She's also very scary. Crossing her is like going to hell and being beat up by the devil. A dangerous game if i could have a say." He laughed his angelic laugh and smiled and nodded. "She dragged me to see my mom that one day. Never again am I ever going to underestimate her." I smiled at him and took his hand.
On the other side of the room.
"So Jason, chances of your sister not cutting my dick off if I flirt with her and apologize to her?" Jason looked at Roy and raised an eyebrow. "She won't cut your dick off-" "Okay good. I'm gonna make her mine again." Stupid Roy cut off Jason. He should've listened. Jason ran to his adopted father. "Yo B, we got a Code White." Bruce raised his eyebrow. "Is this a drill?" Jason shook his head in fear. "Okay. I've got a plan. I'll go over to her and intervene Roy. While you start singing the song." The song you ask? Simply, it's a song with a code to relay to some of the JL members that shit is about to go down. "Okay."
So you say you really miss me? (Aah)
Well, that makes me laugh
'Cause you miss the way I let you walk over me
Broke ever bone in my back
I was walking towards Y/N planning to intercept Roy. He was not going to start shit. I'm not letting the lowlife ruin my daughter's fundraiser.
So you wanna reminisce things? Huh (aah)
Well don't come around here with that
If we went through your phony excuses
I bet it won't change the past
My little girl won't get hurt by the one who pushed her off the edge.
Closed for the weekend
Don't you apologize
I know you don't mean it
I quit
Here's to the "no"s
To the "I think you should go"s
To the "leave her ass alone"s
To the "no boy can demand her body, her spirit, her love"
Oh-oh
Here's to the "no"s
To the "walk yourself on home"s
To the "keeping on her clothes"
To the "highs without the lows"
To the "no man can demand her body, her spirit, her love"
Oh-oh. I've had enough
She's not going to get hurt. I reached her and poked her shoulder making her turn around "Daddy! Your here!" I smiled and hugged her. "Of course I am. Anything for my little girl."
So you're claiming you're a martyr? What?
Like, she doesn't have a clue
Too bad she's smarter, be discreetly a started
We're staring right at the proof
"Uhh, daddy? Why's Jason singing I've had enough by Melanie KB?" Sweat dripped down. Shit, she knows. "Uhhh well Jason loves the song and he wants to sing it." "Fair enough. It's Jason we're talking about" wheew
Closes for forever (uh-huh)
I'm done with shutting up
I've learned a lot better
Listen
Here's to the "no"s
To the "I think you should go"s
(I think you should go)
To the "leave her ass alone"s
To the hanging up the phone"s
To the "no man can demand her body, her spirit, her love"
Oh-oh
Here's to the "no"s
Here's to the "walk yourself on home"s
To the "keeping on her clothes"
To the "highs without the lows"
To the "no man can demand her body, her spirt, her love, love, love"
"Wait Roys trying to get back to me? Isn't he? I'm going up there and finishing this. Shoto, can you escort me to the stage please plus it's coming to closing time as well." Shoto nodded his head and escorted me onto the stage. "Roy Harper are you listening to me? Well this aimed at you."
If you're so mature now
Then I think it's time you grow up
Admit you did it
We all know you did it
And yet you still gaslight me up
You are such a flame out
You only drive lefts in the bed
(Your only drive lefts in the bed)
I don't deserve this
And for your next girlfriend
You need to treat her with respect
Here's to my girls
Standing up for what they're worth
Yeah, you know who run the world
I am ready to be heard
No man can demand my body, my spirit, my love ( my body, my spirit, my love)
Oh-oh
And for the boys
Who don't care who they destroy
Told us "no" was not a choice
You cannot silence our voice
No man can demand our bodies, our spirit, our love
Oh-oh, we've had enough
Like and comment for part 2!

(Note: I am halfway through season 5. While I have seen spoilers (e.g. I'm pretty sure Bakugo isn't just walking away from that wound in his chest), I actually don't know what all is going on currently. My analysis will necessarily be missing those parts.)
All Might's retirement signaled a massive change in the power struggle between heroes and villains in Japan. Without the ever-present threat of All Might, villains are growing bolder and are more eager to form alliances, which is strengthening All for One's and the League of Villains's position. For much of season 4, this change was noticeable but still ambiguous. It isn't until the episode "His Start" that the transition from the relatively peaceful old world and the new, dark age of villainy is complete. Whether or not this was intentional, the author uses imagery from recent history to signal this transition.
In the episode "His Start," Endeavor steps into his role as the new Symbol of Peace to give people hope. However, he is no All Might. He is aware of this. The people are aware of this. Yet he fights all the same, and he is finally recognized as a beacon of hope during his grueling fight against the Nomu.
During this fight, a skyscraper is heavily damaged. It is fortunate that there were heroes on the scene to see the people's safety.
Tumblr media
Without Hawks's intervention, most, if not all, of those people would have died. We know in later episodes, when he is instructing Deku, Bakugo, and Shoto, that Endeavor has heightened perception as well as a skilled information network, so we can assume that he knew those people were flown out of the building. This allowed him to perform Flashfire Fist: Hell Spider against the Nomu and the damaged part of the skyscraper, reducing it to small bits of rubble.
Tumblr media
The careful actions of the heroes prevent a greater tragedy from loss of life and massive damage to the city. However, anyone who has lived long enough probably shifted a little uncomfortably while watching this. This is really similar to something else that actually happened, where there were no heroes to save thousands of people and spare a city and a nation massive losses.
Tumblr media
I was 20 when the attacks on the World Trade Center happened on September 11, 2001. The aftermath of these attacks brought a darker turn for American and world politics. In the show, although people were saved and Endeavor victorious, there was a tense undertone to it all, that things were going to get much more difficult. For me to have lived at the time of the real event and then watch this episode, the parallels were not hard to see.
War is coming.

I have an idea for a quirk idea.
*Ahem*
Quirk: Tiamat.
Like the Primodials Goddess you can create life itself, whatever you want. An army of monsters including, Dragons, smaller dragons, Minatours and so much more. Or inorganic things as well, there are barely any restrictions.
You can also create chaotic energy, bending reality to your will, being able to summon celestial energy as well, for the heavens are under your control.
Like the Tiamat herself you also look draconic, wings, claws and Sharp teeth with many other Features( you can just look at Tiamat from smite and you pretty much look like a somewhat humanoid version)
And the of course you can Manapulate and create salt water, for Tiamat is the Primodial goddess of the salt sea and chaos.
Due to your quirk you are also more durible and stronger than a normal human.
And to really sell the point of divinity, if you use celestial energy you get a halo behind you head.
Drawbacks: the more you use your quirk with out breaks, you will get fatigue, it can take a while until you can use your other abilities again, but you will recover quickly.
Is this op? Yes but we have characters like fucking deku with Protagonist powers and All for one. So let us be op too
Uhhh, yeah let's go with 1a ( Platonic)
class 1a with a fucking god as a classmate
pairing: platonic!class 1a x gn!reader (they/them)
genre: fluff, lotsa angst
warnings: angst 😭 (depression, isolation)
author's notes: HENXN DAMN I FINALLY MADE IT TO YOUR REQUEST YAY,, im also very sorry this isn't my best stuff. ive rewritten it...a lot. in the future I'll probably come back and rewrite again for you!!!
Also!! ik the point was for it to be op, but i decided to strip back a little. ik deku, todo, and baku have super strong quirks, but there are ultimately drawbacks to kinda balance it out and i felt it'd be easier to work a reader in w that balance
so tiamat!: user has ability to bring mythical creatures to life using a balance of chaotic and divine energy. upon activating this quirk, the energy also creates a pair of temporary wings, halo and claws for the user. after 30 minutes, the user becomes incredibly dizzy and needs to rest their quirk for two minutes. they should recover after 2 minutes with only light dizziness and be able to use their quirk for another 30. not resting may result in loss of consciousness.
sorry if there are too many changes plz lemme know if you'd like a rewrite!!
Tumblr media
(this pic probably part of the movie, huh? 😐 im too broke, I haven't watched it but once i get a job,, that's my first expense let's get the bill,, purr-)
SO. first off, since there's no real limit on the mythical creatures you can "manifest", you're pretty much one of the most powerful students from the get go. you get in on recommendations, are already coming from a very high class private school for extremely skilled children (tuition paid by the school itself)
your parents are pros, too, so you're well known not only in your class, but amongst the staff and rest of the school, too.
in the class, though, you never acted like you were above the rest. sure, you weren't exactly the most sociable, but you were polite and there to work as hard as the rest of them. it was an extra advantage, because you were at least cooperative unlike bakugou and understood the need to be flexible unlike todoroki.
it toom them time to learn this, but you seemed to have it all the necessary points of a great hero in your palm.
to some people, like tenya iida, this was absolutely admirable. perfect, meant to be idolized and rewarded with success.
to others, like bakugou, this was a threat. another competitor, another reason to push harder than before, even if it broke him.
to aizawa, though, this... well, it was scary. was it nice to have such a well prepared student? of course. was it good to have such a dedicated student? why wouldn't it be?
well, what was left to teach other than the skills themselves? and what did this mean for villains? were they improving at the same rate, building their whole lives around improving their craft to the point where what would take a lifetime for one person to learn will take their children a few years of childhood?
this is where his calculations were a bit off, though.
it didn't take "a few years of childhood". to be as good as you were, as strong and capable and wise, it took it all.
so were you passing every test with flying colors? improving at rates almost breaking records? practically drilling into everyone's heads that you should probably already be in the field?
yes.
but you weren't interacting with your classmates otherwise. your room and the training rooms were all you knew outside of class. every imvitation to any outing was declined. you hardly ever smiled or relaxed, and when you did it was for undercover practice.
you were alone and lonely. the only people you voluntarily spoke to were your teachers whenever you wanted extra tutoring or work and your parents to update them on your progress. you were a machine.
"robocop."
you didn't like the name katsuki bakugou had lent to you, but you felt that you couldn't exactly be mad. and to be honest, it wasn't too bad, right?
but you can only be robotic for so long. eventually the feelings start to set in, especially in that stunning incredible beautiful part of your life called puberty.
"they never smile..."
"even thirteen is more emotive."
"sensei aizawa has more enthusiasm."
"maybe we shouldn't even bother them with the invite."
it wasn't that they were trying to be mean and you knew that. most of it came from worry, or sometimes them being genuinely convinced you were some sort of robot. they were going to be curious and that was... okay. for a while.
it was fine. they stopped inviting you out so much, just nodded to you in passing, and spoke with you as they usually did when paired up for classes or lessons.
but over time? they stopped inviting you altogether, didn't acknowledge you in the hall, and took on overly-professional tones whenever you talked...at all.
this is what you'd wanted, though, right? just focus on the work, on the quirk, on the career path. that's it. that's all you needed.
oh fuck. you were wrong.
powerful, yes, but you started losing the passion. you didn't lose against anyone, but you weren't as vigilant in keeping it clean and quick. sometimes they took a lot more time, and sometimes your energy wasn't enough to keep a large mythical creature like a Bahamut up for two minutes.
people took notice, especially sensei aizawa. still, most people just took it as a small bump in your intense progress.
yeah, you got some looks of pity and some small comments here and there, but... you'd be fine!
"c'mon, terminator, stop playing shy. it's weird."
"[Your last name], you missed an attack. is everything alright in the plan?" (iida)
"you look tired. maybe you should let us take over, ribbit."
it was ok. you were ok. yeah. okay. yeah! of course! you were the almighty tiamat! you'd be fine!
yeah.
yeah...
and then...
"did... did sato and sero just beat iida and [your last name?" (midoriya)
it was... quiet amongst the class. even aizawa, who's rarely taken aback by anything, seemed at a loss for words or any sort of reaction.
but sure enough, there you were, tied to one side of a pole in tape with iida opposite of you, sato and sero reveling in the victory.
your head was down. this wasn't... you. you didn't lose, not that easily, and you definitely weren't captured by surprise. and you definitely did not just mess up the entire precise plan your partner and you constructed with an almost 0% margin for error.
no. no way.
when it set in and aizawa called the win for the next team is when a wave of...relief hit.
relief that you'd lost, relief that you messed up clear as day, messed up soemething so easy to perfect, and relief that nobody was hurting you for it. you closed your eyes and your body released this surge of energy, not strong enough to hurt anyone, but instead slowing into slow waves that slowly tampered off.
everything was put on pause, aizawa trying to make eye contact to cancel out your quirk before realizing all was well and you were... smiling.
you were smiling, teary eyed and genuine, with not one ounce of tension in your usually stiff shoulders.
it was quite the situation, really, and left most of the class rather...weirded out. but after a conversation with the school counselor and sensei aizawa followed by some serioud self reflection, everything started shifting.
you started talking. not a lot, obviously. it was going to take some time, but you'd say hello, ask how people were, laugh. then you said yes to an invitation to ice cream. and then told a joke! a real joke. granted it wasn't the funniest, and the delivery was awkward at its height, but the fact that YOU told it had your class rolling.
and better yet, this improved your performance! you were still improving, but at a human pace, and you had the chance to sct your age a little.
no, it wasn't perfect. this was new. this was going to take some time. but thay was okay, because you had your class with you, and they thought you were pretty fantastic.
and you had limits. and that was wonderful.
