#that’s why I’ll probably never write this fic but it’s fun to dabble in the verse

A snippet from a future fic I'll probably never write, where Steve is a widower with two teenage kids, and he and Eddie randomly meet up, rekindling their old flame. This is when they've been together a while:
“Thank you,” Steve says, coming up behind Eddie at the bathroom sink.
Eddie pauses, catching Steve's eye in the mirror. “What for?” he asks, mouth foamy with toothpaste.
Steve slips his hands along Eddie's hips, hooks his chin over Eddie's shoulder. “For loving my kids.”
“You don't—” Toothpaste dribbles down Eddie's chin and he stoops to spit what's left in his mouth into the sink, gathering his hair to one side. He rinses his mouth out, wipes his face with a towel, then turns to Steve. “You don't have to thank me for that. Of course I love them.”
“Not everyone I've dated has.”
“They're idiots.” Eddie grabs the hem of Steve's shirt, pulling him close. “I mean, first of all, they're part of you, and I don't think I could love you and not love them. But...” He trails off, a small smile tilting his lips. “They're amazing kids.”
Pride swells in Steve's chest; he slides his arms around Eddie's waist and says, “They are.”
“And I'm pretty damn honored I get to be part of their lives,” Eddie says, “so thank you,” and he butts his head gently against Steve's.
Steve huffs and slides his hands up Eddie's back, pulling him into a tight embrace. “I love you.” He presses a kiss to Eddie's neck.
“I love you too.”
“And they both love you as well.”
Eddie lets out a shuddering breath. Steve knows how nervous Eddie was, when they started dating, that he wouldn't be welcomed, but it's almost like he's always been part of their family now. “Good to know,"”Eddie says.
Steve holds Eddie a little tighter. All those years ago, back in Hawkins, when they ended things, Steve thought he'd never see Eddie again. But here they are, together—a family—and Steve's never letting him go this time.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks for the tag @stackthedeck !
How many works do you have on ao3?
300
what's your total ao3 word count?
3,264,597
What fandoms do you write for?
Marvel Spider-Man 99.9% of the time but I’ve been known to dabble in other things.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Through a Glass Darkly with @blondsak
5 Times Peter Didn’t Need Tony’s Help with @blondsak
Flying High with @blondsak
every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end with @blondsak
solkillerseeksak febuwhump with @blondsak @akillerqueenyouare solstice
seeksak supremacy
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yep! Always! I love telling people thank you because we’re just both fellow fans vibing together
What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending
Tumblr media
Idk what anyone else would say (though I’d love to know it) but for me my saddest ending is as strong as you were (tender you go).
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Idk if it’s the happiest or if I could choose just one, but I was recently reminded of graceless. and I still really like that one.
Do you get hate on fics?
Every so often, either a commenter that blames for the state of spideychelle or an irondad person yelling at me to don’t like don’t read when I lightly criticize tropes (while also anonymous commenting on said fics they clearly don’t like make it make sense)
Never more annoying than a quick come back
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Smut is the vehicle with which emotional history is built. Love sex as a storytelling device.
Do you write crossovers?
I wrote one but I’m not sure if that’s a true crossover vs fusion
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
A few times! Once by a collab partner that reuploaded it and then pretended they didn’t lmao and a few others by people who more or less ripped off exact words and phrases. No one owns a concept, I believe in fandom having 40 cakes. But I can count more than a few times when I’ve seen fics that had exact words and sentence structure AND plot identical to mine.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Several!!! It’s very flattering
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I LOVE COLLABS
It’s half the work for twice the fun.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
Peter and MJ
What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
If I really don’t think I’ll finish, I delete it lmao. So anything is up has a chance!
What are your writing strengths?
Something I strive for and am told I succeed is in making characters feel like people; they exist outside of each other and outside of the plot. “Character study” is just a default for me.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I have none my writing is perfect 😌 lmao jk probably that I refuse to edit. First draft final draft.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Never have but think it’s interesting!
First fandom you wrote for?
This one!
Favorite fic you've written?
I refuse to choose; my series the highlight reel has my favorites.

Manifesting Stalkyoo~
Just to get it out of the way: PLEASE KNOW THIS IS ALL IN GOOD FUN! I don’t want anyone to take this in a weird way or like it’s some ridiculous demand I’m making lmao. I’ve just been having a delightful time talking to other Stalkyoo shippers and just romanticizing silly things we want to see so again: THIS IS JUST FOR FUN! I know fandom has been weird about shipping stuff because of the... ugly past lol so I feel a weird need to remind people that my shipping is just secondary enjoyment of ILY and that I will continue to love and read ILY wherever it goes.
With that out of the way lol please also note there are spoilers all the way up to 224, so if you don’t FP episodes, this post is not safe for you! (unless you like spoilers. i don’t judge people, I like spoilers, too)
Look, I’m not good at writing fanfiction. I’d love to, but I always feel like it’s difficult for me to portray characters the way the original writer does. I think about it, every now and then, dabble in a little idea, something I might like to see, before the storyline plays out in a different way, but I just never trust myself, so this is about the closest I ever get to that. And even still, I think of these little musings, these silly little “oh I’d love to see ______” very inline with fanfiction, wherein I acknowledge that what I’m hoping for or imagining is very likely to not happen. It’s just the fun of exploring story and the what-if’s and little AU tangents where ONE little thing tweaks.
For me, the fun of shipping is just playing with those character dynamics, which is another reason fic is so difficult for me - I enjoy my pairings, my characters, within their circumstances. That’s not to say AU fics are unfathomable to me (I LOVE THEM), but more so that it’s hard to write something knowing that I don’t know everything, that quimchee will pull out a surprise and I’ll be like oh my god I should have realized! And again, I guess that’s where musing is fun. You get to play out those little what if’s for yourself, get to imagine a scenario that probably will never come to pass. That’s the fun of fic + canon, to me! Not once has quimchee done something with her characters and their story that really surprised me in an “oh i don’t like this” kind of way. I can say “Oh I’d love to see xyz scenario play out” but when instead abc plays out, I’m not mad.
I also fully admit that I tend to compartmentalize my shipping thoughts and whims separately from my general commentary, and I guess for the previously mentioned reasons: this fandom has an ugly, nasty past with shipping and even still, there are a lot of people who demand romance from ILY and don’t seem to care about the actual story at play or even weirder, seem to think that it detracts from the romance they think should be happening???? (”when is she going to choose one of the brothers it’s been so many years and episodes waaaah) And I guess, yeah, I get a little self-conscious, because (and this is feels so embarrassing to actually word) I acknowledge a lot of people read my commentary and my opinions! And I’m so happy for that, I love being so communal with everyone! But I do get worried someone is going to take something out of context and be like “omg can you believe she’s one of those weirdo romance demanders” or something lmao, hence this weird long useless diatribe. But yeah, basically, I’ve been talking with people lately and god just thinking about my shippy feels and how much I love the current story - one step forward, three steps back; the struggles to open up; the struggles to deal with feelings in the face of much heavier, scarier elements; etc. etc.
Sometimes you just wake up and you’re like: I WANNA SCREAM ABOUT STALKYOO so you do it because you have a birdbrain and you know is screaming afljkfkjafkjakfjaf LMAO
If you’re reading this, chances are you aren’t new to my blog so you’ve probably read the likes of my Foundations of Stalkyoo, Why I Ship Stalkyoo, and Further Thoughts on Stalkyoo (I just never shut up huh) posts, so I’ll try not to like, completely repeat everything but if it happens well. It can’t helped, can it? lol
Anyway something I’ve been talking and thus thinking a lot about is where we stand with Stalkyoo, now that we are getting more confirmation of actual budding feelings. I always reiterate that anything can change, but I also like to remind myself that something quimchee has said in the past (and this is loosely paraphrased) is that whenever it does come to a pairing, it will be made obvious before it gets there, because this is NOT a primarily romance-focused story which means there aren’t as many storylines that deal with just the will-they/won’t-they and the likes, and I think likewise, there won’t be a real love triangle the way most fans tend to think of them. So often a love triangle gets boiled down to someone being torn between two people for whatever reason and i just don’t get the sense we’ll be seeing that? Thus, I do feel like we might well be moving into a territory where we will see some kinds of scenes setting up, or maybe better put, enabling the possibility of a relationship between Shinae and Nol?
But first. I always say I don’t really try to predict things because I’m always proven wrong, but I still like to try for fun lol, just because that’s part of the joy of reading an on-going story, I think! I’ve waffled a lot on it, but I still feel like when we reach our big time skip (not the first one taking us to graduation, but rather the one that jumps us a few years ahead), there has to be a REASON. Narratively it’s hard to imagine what that reason might be beyond the likelihood that we’ll see our three main characters on separate paths. It’s the only thing that makes sense, because otherwise you end up with a lot of story happening off page, right? If Shinae were to go to Japan with Kousuke, we’d end up missing their reconciliation and Kousuke earning her trust (or if it were to go the opposite, becoming cold acquaintances). Thus, I think Kousuke will go to Japan, but Shinae will take Rand’s advice begrudgingly and take up Yui on her “offer, while Nol will probably go to college abroad. He wasn’t denied admission to Oxford - it’s just not guaranteed there will be a spot for him.
I know people take umbrage with the idea of Shinae taking up Yui’s offer, but hear me out. I don’t think it’s meant to turn Shinae into some kind of conniving, cunning person in the likes of Yui, as much as just introduce her to this world, give her a better understanding of how people in this society and business work and thus, start to get an idea of how Yui works. While I don’t think it’s easy to ever be one step ahead of Yui, I do think developing an understanding of her world helps to at least defend herself from Yui - start to see traps in advance and how to avoid them, find ways to evade her clutches, that kind of thing. I do think the idea of Yui holding that over Shinae’s head is terrifying and it’s feels more dangerous than going to Japan with Kousuke, BUT again, the idea is that she would become better equipped to defend herself and fight back.
Of course, I don’t think Shinae in this moment is prepared to make that choice, and it may be a choice that comes after Yujing’s big scoop is revealed. Perhaps realizing how much more dangerous and powerful Yui (and the Kims) is would make her see what Rand was trying to tell her. I think she hasn’t fully figured out just what is going on with Yui and Rand, either - why would he be pushing her against his wife? But I think the information Yujing has compiled could help her see that bigger picture. If someone like Rand has spent twenty-five years struggling in this battle with her, how could Shinae ever hope to stand against her with even less understanding, with no sense of WHO Yui is or what makes her tick.
The thing about this that I always struggle with is: how would Nol regard that? We know he feels vehemently about Alyssa idolizing Yui and taking advantage of her connection to the Hiraharas - and yet he stayed with her, knowing that she benefits from him (but that he does, as well). Would he feel the same, if he found out who was enabling Shinae to go to school? Would they talk about it, since Shinae knows how he feels about it? Would he be able to understand, when even he himself doesn’t seem to realize that his father finds himself trapped by the Hiraharas? That’s... stuff I can’t try to predict, because I think everything is possible.
I promise I’ll get to that a little more.
The narrative benefit of separating the main characters is, of course, that first off, no major development happens where we can’t watch it. Sure, they’ll go about their lives and things will happen, but I don’t expect it to be major things that would make us go WAIT WHAT?! Otherwise, what brings us back itnto the story after time passes? For a long time my idea was that they’d all go their separate ways and maybe even their relationships would be a little damaged, so that when they come back into each others’ lives, part of the story is recovering that, reconciling with the past and maybe finding new futures together.
Especially regarding Nol and Shinae, I’d wondered if we would see him leave without reconciling with his friends, and that we’d see him and Shinae meet again after some years and Shinae would have to contend with their unresolved past, with feelings she never had a chance to really identify, let alone explore, and the aching beauty of having to figure out who each other after now that they’ve grown and changed, and if there is room in each others’ lives for one another, if they fit in with who they’ve become. And don’t get me wrong - i do like that kind of bittersweet ache, haunted by the ghosts of what never came to be, having to relearn each other. But the more I’ve talked about this (especially a lot with @bittrbuttr, the more I realized that’s not exactly what I want with them.
Like, it’s good and achey, it really pulls at your heartstrings. But I think that better suits an actual romance story, where the focus of the story and plot is on those feelings and untangling them, on finding their ways back to each other. I don’t think that’s the story of ILY, though.
I keep dancing around my point and I apologize, but we all know I’m nothing if not circuitous and I promise we’ll get there!
Here’s the thing: we know that Nol and Shinae are not in the space to become romantically involved. The feelings are there. They are drawn to each other, we know Nol finds comfort and peace in Shinae and that he always struggles to really push her away. We know that Shinae cares so deeply about him that no matter how much he hurts her, she still wants to try, she still wants to be there for him. I find the hope-tinged pain of 223 really poignant in that way - she wanted to SEE HIM, in a moment that was so special, she wanted to share that joy and get a glimpse at who he REALLY is, and he was unable to do that for her. But still she hopes for the best, still she intends to keep trying, to be as persistent as he was, even if she has to find a different approach.
They are so important to each other, and I’m hoping that might be a catalyst?
I understand what Nol’s struggle is. It isn’t easy to be vulnerable, to feel weak, especially when those parts of him have been used against him the last 6 years of his life. He is full of so much self-loathing and isn’t comfortable with his own weakness and vulnerability, thus he can’t show it to Shinae, he doesn’t want her to see him like that. He’d rather let her think he just doesn’t need to see what exists between them, that he doesn’t need to see her indulging because it’s enough to just bring her joy - and that itself hurts enough! But I want him to at least be honest about it - tell her that you don’t want her to see that part of you. Will it change things? Probably not significantly, but it puts her one step closer to understanding doesn’t it?
And so the thinking is - or rather, the hope - is that maybe Nol will realize this?
We see some of it in 224. Upon Dieter’s arrival, instead of a hey welcome back or anything, it’s an immediate “Did you bump into Yoo?” and when Dieter reassures him that she’s fine, it’s just stuffy, he knows a. it’s not fine and b. he feels bad. I think he felt that regret immediately, when he noted that she’s angry and he took off the blindfold and she wasn’t there. Nol is so used to pushing people away, it’s his first line of defense, but when it works? When he succeeds at driving that wedge? Again it’s that battle of will vs want - he thinks that pushing her away is the right thing to do for her sake, but he doesn’t ACTUALLY want it.
It’s so difficult to go back to how things used to be having gotten a taste of something better. It’s so difficult to push out everyone when you’ve allowed yourself to indulge in being loved and cared about, and and I think that’s what Nol’s biggest hurdle is.
Don’t get me wrong; there’s a lot of hurdles with him lol and clearing one doesn’t exactly make the others any easier to clear. But something we’ve seen from Shinae and that I think the story has tried to impress upon is that things are easier when we aren’t alone. Burdens shared are burdens that weigh a little less. We’ve Shinae and her father talking about being a team - about sharing that burden so it’s not so hard for just one of them and distributing that burden more easily. We’ve seen it in Shinae opening up about her problems with her friends, her insecurities that made her doubt her friendships. Her realization that as scary as situation as her sister breaking into her home was, it was made more bearable with a ragtag group of goofs who will protect her.
Nol needs to learn to share that burden. He’s spent so long treating himself like an island, he hasn’t had the opportunity to remember that it’s easier to endure something when you aren’t exhausted from shouldering that burden all by yourself. There is strength in numbers. He’s been so run ragged from just trying to endure, trying to get by, trying to survive and how is he to ever fight back against Yui when he’s exhausted just from treading waters?
I mean, ultimately Nol needs to learn to love himself, but I think it’s easier to tackle allowing others to love him, first. Allowing himself to share the burden, to show those weaknesses and let people have his back. Be able to slump over and know that someone will help keep you standing, you know? And maybe through that, he can find it in him to start loving himself. Of course, he has other problems he needs to address; in order to love himself, he has to forgive himself, and I hope that Yujing’s article can help in that area. I’m sure he carries the guilt of his mother’s alleged suicide, and maybe he was even made to believe that. It wouldn’t surprise me if the time he spent in the mental facility only served to make him feel worse about his existence, made  him believe he was the root cause of the bad. Maybe even, like Nana, he had an argument with his mother before he death and felt that if they hadn’t argued, maybe she would never have made that choice?
Clearly that’s still a little complicated for us to fully dig into, but as horrible as learning that maybe her death was not a choice she made is to learn (I cannot imagine having made this peace with someone I loved reaching a point so dark they made that choice, only to find out that it was, possibly, murder. How do you deal with that? What do you do with all that new grief, that new anguish?), I think maybe, if he learned that she didn’t choose that, it might help free him from his shackles of guilt.
But I think until he can learn to forgive himself, until he can make that peace, couldn’t letting people love him help? Wouldn’t it be better for him to move forward knowing that he has people who will not only defend him, but who can ease the weight of his burdens?
As dramatic as Nol and Shinae separating on these rocky grounds, unable to fully reconcile, makes for a good, dramatic romance, I think it’s much better for Nol to move on as a team. To let himself rely on others isn’t something he can learn over night, of course, but isn’t it better for him to enter a scary phase of his life knowing that there ARE people who he can talk to about it? There ARE people he can eventually let see those weak parts of him?
So my ultimate hope for Nol’s extension is that in that time, he and Shinae find that peace after all. I still can’t help but feel like the three-day-extension is significant, because why else include it, if it was to pass without event? Especially because, depending on how it works (is it 3 additional days INCLUDING the 22nd or 3 days extra, beginning the 23rd?) we’ll hit the holidays. That just feels... too significant, right?
I want Nol to grapple with his feelings, let his fear take over a little. Is he really as ready to lose Shinae as he tries to be? He seemed to regret hurting her, hanging his head after Dieter reassured him she was fine, even though she refuses to come back in to the room. And I can’t help but feel like it’s significant that she’s still lingering in the waiting room. My thinking is that Nana will get involved - she knows that Nol is upset about someone, she knows other friends have been watching over him, she knows there’s a friend who isn’t coming back in. She can read him well, so it’s not like it’s difficult to read that maybe they had a fight, that he was brusque and brushed her off the way he tries to do even to Nana. Will she go out there to see who this friend is? Will they talk? I feel like they HAVE to - not just because the fandom has waited for it, but because I think Nana can probably glean that Shinae (”Yoo” lol) must be someone important, if he’s acting like that.
And look. Did Nana see the blush? *I* saw the blush, I’m not getting over that. I’m sorry but he lmao pushed her away, regretted hurting her, and he’s still getting flustered because he pictured her mouth. BUDDYYYYYYYYYYYY. YOU’RE A MESS.
I don’t expect her to fully intervene in like, trying to make things happen way lmao I think it’s more like... Nana knows better than anyone that Nol is a difficult person to love. I say this with affection, because it’s true. He pushes people away, he deflects from himself, he never opens up, it’s hard to read what’s going on in his head. And Nana also knows of the darkness that looms. She was right there when he pleaded guilty, concerned about his reasoning. She’s listened to him talk about how maybe everything would be better if he didn’t exist. She knows that the darkness has a strong grip on him. So who better than her to encourage Shinae, to thank her for her patience and tenacity, for sticking with Nol even with the way he acts? I’d like to see a little bit of that comfort between them, some reassurance that Shinae is, in fact, making the right choice. She oscillates so wildly between her extreme emotions; sadness and melancholy that caring is not enough and how it sometimes comes out as anger when she can’t find a better way to channel it. We know she doesn’t really regret planning that birthday celebration - she’s just hurt. And I think it would be a big help to have Nana tell her how much it means to see Nol with friends who care about him despite how prickly and difficult he is, how she worries about him and is glad there are people who care about him. I think it would really encourage Shinae that her resolve is right - that she just has to find another way to approach him, that it’s worth the effort.
And at that same time, yes, I want Nol’s fear to kick his ass. I want him to realize he faces the very real reality of losing someone who cares so much about him, who is willing to put up with him because of how much she cares and how special she is to him - and that she wants him to see it, too. I want him to fear losing the comfort and peace she brings him. I want him to have to finally face head on his want vs what he thinks he deserves, and see what a future without someone like her is like. Can he bear to return to that kind of loneliness? Can he bear losing her concern? How it feels for her to take notice of him, to probe, to listen?
Like, at the risk of getting really corny and dramatic, that’s what it comes down to. I don’t want Nol to come back in a few years and decide he’s ready to face all of that. I want him to move on from this point knowing he’s not alone. I want him to be able to face prison knowing that he’s not so alone, that there is someone who will always be there to support him. I think that’s what makes the most sense. Leaving on their current circumstances works great if it’s a romance and that’s the main story - but making up, talking, being honest? That makes more sense for THIS story, where Nol starts to grow NOW, where he starts to make those important steps that will help him find his way to healing, and more important, that will help him face the forces that taunt and haunt him.
He doesn’t have to be completely honest with Shinae, because I don’t think he’s ready. I don’t think he’ll tell her that his mother took her life, and that he believes it’s his fault. But I think it would be enough to tell her the truth he couldn’t stay to her face - that he doesn’t want her to see him like that, that it’s still hard for him to open up that way, that it’s still SCARY - but that he doesn’t want to push her away, that he’s sorry he keeps hurting her. We could even go more dramatic with a callback to the hospital scene - that he’s sorry he isn’t good enough and is undeserving of her (AND LET HER REASSURE HIM THAT’S NOT TRUE THAT HE IS). BUT JUST. IDK I WANT HIM TO FACE IT. ADMIT IT.
He doesn’t have to tell her he likes her. That’s fine. Just reiterate what she means to him! One moment he’s telling her she’s special to him, that he cares about her, next moment he’s telling her it’s okay he doesn’t have to look he’s fine like this. STOP JERKING HER AROUND ;~; lmao like don’t get me wrong. I GET IT. I UNDERSTAND HIM!!!!!!!!!!!
But I also want to see them move into our time skips with a sense of understanding and peace, you know? I don’t want want Nol to face his fears alone anymore. I want him to let someone stand by his side. I want him to accept how good it feels to rest on her shoulder and know that it’s okay, she’s there.
I HAVE FEELINGS OKAY I JUST. I WANT THEM TO BE ABLE TO FIND T HAT STRENGTH IN EACH OTHER, TO BE STRONGER TOGETHER.
And to call back to my earlier point lmao I like to think if they get to that point, then maybe he would understand, if Shinae accepts Yui’s offer. Maybe he would see how it’s different from Alyssa, that Shinae made a choice to protect herself, that it’s not about the idolatry, it’s not a self-serving choice, but one that protects her and enables her to fight back. Knowing that they are on the same side, that Shinae isn’t a doe-eyed naïve girl about to be taken advantage of again, but one who wants to fight back against the people who hurt her and others like her.
We’re about halfway to 3/5 of the way into this story, and I think that’s a good point for Shinae and Nol to join forces.
AndlookthisiscompletelydaydreamingbutiftherewasaChristmaskissIwouldcertainlynotobject
PLEASE I JUUUUUUUUUST i want to see them on the same page, I want to see them moving forward TOGETHER. I don’t want Nol to keep walking on his own. I don’t want him to just accept Shinae at his side, either; I want him to CHOOSE to let her choose his side. ;A;
GOD. PLS. BARKS AT THE MOON I’m just ready for them to bE A TEAM I’M READY FOR NOL TO BE SELFISH AND TO GO AFTER WHAT HE WANTS I WANT HIM TO CHOOSE COMFORT AND SECURITY OVER PUNISHMENT I WANT HIM TO REALIZE THERE IS STRENGTH IN COMPANIONSHIP. I know being close to him puts her at risk - but he needs to see that no matter what, she’s at risk, and isn’t it better if she’s in danger with someone who can help, than to be all alone with it? I WANT HIM TO FACE THAT FEAR OF HIS AND FIND THAT MAYBE HIS DESIRE, HIS WANT, HIS NEEDS ARE EVEN BIGGER. That it’s better to find peace with her than spend the whole time afraid. Isn’t that the thing? He’s always afraid - afraid of someone else getting hurt, afraid of another opportunity being stolen away, afraid of the next time Yui will find a way to hurt him. BUT TO BE ABLE TO FIND COMFORT WITH SHINAE?
Please. Just open up - be honest!!!!!!! But most importantly APOLOGIZE. Apologize for hurting her, apologize for pushing her away.
I realize, based on what she said on the hospital roof, that maybe he won’t make that choice, that maybe her persistence has to be a long game, that she does have to wait for him to forget to put the mask back on.
But wouldn’t it be so nice if he chose to move forward with her, instead of alone, to face their nightmare and battles together? ;~;

Interview with a Fic Writer
I was tagged by @swtorpadawan (Thanks a bunch!)
I’ll tag @kunoichi-ume @tishinada @dimigex @sleepswithvillains @actualanxiousswampwitch @chivalin and anyone else who wants a tag. Feel free to slap my name on it so I can read your answers too.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
42 (I’m now unable to post anymore fics because it’ll mess up this perfect number)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
     923,873
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Family is more than Blood
Heart on a Trigger (the sequel to the above)
Echo of Evil (ffxiv)
The Lost Medallion
Odessen Files
Holy crap, Primal Appetites finally got booted out of the top 5.
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I absolutely do....even if it takes me a minute. I love reading the comments that come to my email, but since those usually reach me away from my computer, I tend to....forget until I log in to publish something.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
That’s a tough one, but I’ll have to go with Soul of the Bes’bev. It ends with Fynta being forced to acknowledge out loud the lengths that she’s willing to go to, to the one person that she never wants to disappoint.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
I mean...are we talking smut? Because all of those have happy endings. No? Okay then how about Shenanigans. This fic will always have a special place in my heart.
7. Do you write crossovers?
I have been known to dabble. The only one currently posted is SWTOR/Naruto crossover shared with @dimigex involving the disasters that are Fynta Wolfe, Theron Shan, Genma Shiranui, and Kakashi Hatake. The aptly named Tounge-in-Cheek
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
One person disagreed with my interpretation of Ma’at as a slave to her families’ expectations rather than a proper slave in Sithy Bunch, but I’d hardy call it hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Do I write smut, haha. Yes, actually, I do. Mostly aggressive given my main subject matter. It is also playful or a way to express deep emotion that must never be spoken aloud because scary. There is lots of flirting, plenty of biting, and satisfaction for all.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not in the sense that someone specifically singled it out. Just that it’s shown up on websites without my permission.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not to my knowledge.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have, it’s always a fun experience. Namely, Thunder and Scars with @kunoichi-ume and Rules of Engagement with @tishinada
I also have several series where each of us writes a chapter and posts it into the same story with Ume, Dimi, and Tish as well.
13. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Tumblr media
I’ll never get enough of these two. Art by the amazing @dingoat
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
Sadly, probably Generations of War, the continuation of Our Own that introduces Quinn/Sith Warrior and their 4, head strong and very Force sensitive daughters alongside Jorgan’s triplets. I love the story so much, but I have absolutely no idea where to take it. Waht I have published though can be found >HERE<
15. What are your writing strengths?
Action scene, without a doubt. I enjoy writing the flow of a battle or just movement in general.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
All the squishy, gushy stuff that makes of a romance. Legit, I struggle hard with feelings.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I’ve written a lot of Mando’a into my fics. It was daunting at first, then became fun when I needed to figure out how to string something together to make phrase that wasn’t pre-generated by the online dictionary.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Probably SWTOR
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet, but want to?
Gears of War. Man, I love those stories so so much, but I just...haven’t written anything for it. I reread their books once a year though.
20. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
I’m going to have to say my Meet Me on the Battlefield series. I don’t even know how many years I’ve been working on this, but I’m into the final book (that I will finished damn it.) with a few in between novellas, if you want to call them that?

Jestbee Fics: In Stats
If you’ve been here for any length of time you know I love a spreadsheet, and graphs, and all thing sweet, sweet data. Ao3 doesn’t allow me to export stats about my fics which is really annoying, but I’ve been tracking fics I wrote over the past 5 years (and 1 fic this year) by the following:
- Year posted - Pairing - Rating - Relationship Status - Canon compliancy - POV
And I’d like to share some insights with you. Mostly about Phan but there are some stats about other pairings in the first bit under the cut.
Tumblr media
Here’s the number of fics I posted per year since 2017. There are some posted as early as 2014 on my ao3 account but I chose to omit them as they were fairly inconsistent. I have been declining in my output but I think that makes sense given irl factors.
I’m putting the rest of that juicy juicy data under a cut so as not to bother non-data loving folks.
Pairing
Tumblr media
Pairing written by year as a percentage of everything posted. I had a few solid years of only writing Phan or associated pairings (same fandom tag in a03 actually, just separated out for the purposes of this data). It’s only the past couple of years I dabbled in other stuff. I’m not defining these ship names btw, if you’re curious look it up. (but I’ll concede for dwhite - it’s Dye/White from Monochrome which is a phan fic I wrote fic of. v complicated but v fun)
Obviously the majority of my fics are Phan, and so in all following sections I will just show stats for that pairing as all others are negligible at this point. However, I think it will be fun to revisit this the same time next year to see how it has changed.
Rating
Tumblr media
for Phan only, ratings as a percentage of total fics posted per year. What I find interesting is that the number of E fics I write stays basically the same even as the overall number I post drops, which means as a percentage E rated fics are now higher. I also had a pesky habit of not rating fics until about 2019, glad to see I no longer do that. (Also 2019, no G fics, I really don’t know why)
Tumblr media
For all Phan fics, here is the distribution of ratings. Kind of an even split even though I think people would probably guess that I write more E/M rated than anything else. But I think the amount I wrote in earlier years and the way the number of E fics I write has remained consistent it why that’s the case.
Relationship Status
Tumblr media
I actually think these numbers make the most sense when looked at in conjunction with Canon Compliancy since when I first get into a fandom I tend toward canon compliant and then later AU, which in the case of Phan means established relationship early on and Getting Together AUs later on. I prefer strangers to lovers to friends to lovers, even though my all time favourite trope is Friends with Benefits to lovers. You’ll see I wrote one early on and then restrained myself in 2019 (seriously, was was 2019?) until finally giving in. If I really let myself go those percentages might be much higher but I guess we’ll never know.
Tumblr media
Quick look at the overall. Unsurprisingly Established Relationship is highest given that my output of fics was higher during the time that was my preference.
Canon Compliancy
Firstly I need to do a little definining of terms since this data was subjective and so the terminology I use might be different to how you would define things. So, for the sake of this data I have used terms thus:
Canon Compliant - They have been together since 2009, events happen just as they have done up to the point of the fic being written (with the exception of 1 where I actually predicted the future so yay me)
Canon Adjacent - Mostly canon compliant, all events happened up to the point of the fic being written except usually for them being together. (I drew the line at calling these solidly AU because I wanted a way to be more nuanced)
Canon divergence - All events are compliant up to a point in time where something went differently. (eg, they break up, lose touch, Phil takes the internship etc)
AU  - What is canon? Who is she? Dan and Phil have totally different jobs, probably aren’t together, might not even know each other at first, and I can’t wait to find out how they fall in love
Tumblr media
So like I said before, I prefer canon compliancy when I first join but soon discard canon and run with my imagination. Honestly AU is where I feel more comfortable, especially in Phan where the canon is basically a fic all of its own and there are only say many ways you can write the same scenario over and over.
Tumblr media
obligatory look at distribution across all Phan fics.
POV
Tumblr media
We’re only look at Phan fics here, but Other applies to outside POV. I did a couple early on but have since given up the practise. I like them, but I don’t gravitate toward them without a challenge or a specific prompt.
Tumblr media
I think these were the most surprising to be honest. I didn’t realise I favoured Dan POV as much as I do but that makes sense. I’m a Phillie, and Dan is the ultimate Phillie so I vibe with his point of view. lmao
Anyway that’s it for my little graphs, if you read this far without being bored out of your mind then let me know if anything surprised you, or if there’s any other data you’d like to see. I didn’t do anything about word count in here becuase I have my other tracker but maybe seeing wordcount by relationship etc might be fun. I also toyed with kudos/comments data but ultimately decided against it (mainly because these values change often - PLEASE ao3 let me export this data on a monthly basis and track it I beg)
I also didn’t do anything about tropes or other tags because I thought that would be too subjective but I could look at it if people are interested. (Heck, I’m interested and could definitely see myself doing it one day)
Right. I’m going now. Come validate this post so I’m not just a crazy woman with a spreadsheet and too much time. Thanks <3

tysm for the tag @hanamuri and @roseofbattles i appreciate it friends <333
How many works do you have on AO3? 86
What's your total AO3 word count?  1,462,725 😳
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. royai collections - rated: m. just a big ol’ collection of royai oneshots grouped together. idk how i ended up with 100 chapters of random oneshots haha i never imagined i would get that far w them but it’s so Neat seeing all of them compiled together
2. the way it was - rated: m. family royai, royai!kid, canon divergence, “what if riza never joined the military”. my babie. my child. this was a long process to work through but it was so much fun to play about with canon events where royai are married, have a kid, and how much things may change for them both. i think this is the one i’m most proud of overall. so much effort was poured into it. for years this fic was an idea i wanted to tackle and i’ve never felt peace and satisfaction quite like it when i wrapped it all up at the end
3. let you love me - rated: t. family royai, royai!kid, modern au. another one that is dear to me and has been for a long time. i have a playlist for this fic and whenever i listen to it i’m taken right back to the late summer/autumn i worked on it. the vibes are exquisite. this au was pure self indulgence, giving riza a kid and having roy move in next door to them both and royai slowly falling in love <3
4. hit and run - rated: m. historical au, enemies to lovers, basically riza being kickass and amazing w a Neat slowburn, if i do say so myself :)) this is another one i love to pieces and it comes a v v v close second to being my absolute fave story i’ve ever written. the idea was sparked by a trip into edinburgh old town’s ~haunted~ vaults and it was such a joy to write and draw on that experience for the setting. the vibes were perfect
5. closer - rated: t. ~drama central~. this ended up being much more popular than i imagined it would be lol i wanted to dabble in the OC, Jealous Girlfriend trope bc why not and sometimes we all need a wee bit of melodrama in our fic reading/writing lives <3
Do you reply to comments, why or why not? yes!! i love reading comments and people’s thoughts on what i’ve written omg they make my day every time. i want them to know their kindness is v much appreciated. even if it takes a while for me to get round to it bc of life, i will defo reply eventually!
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? hmm idk i think all my fics are angst w a happy ending at the very least, apart from a few hurt/no comfort oneshots. for multi-chaptered fics i always tend to go with the happy ending. idk if i would have it in me to write a really angsty ending for a long fic haha
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending? hmm. there’s a few haha. probably the majority of my multichapter fics. so, i’ll choose the happiest fic in general, which has to be my inferno. pure, happy vibes and good times. singer riza killing it and pursuing her dreams while famous bf roy is nothing but supportive and her biggest fan
Do you write crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one you've ever written? no, i have not yet dabbled in a full blown crossover but idk if i ever will
Have you ever received hate on a fic? yeah lol
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? i did a few years ago but nothing for a long time
Have you ever had a fic stolen? not that i’m aware of
Have you ever had a fic translated? i’m not aware if anyone has gone ahead with translating anything. i did get a few questions about it last year (? i think) but idk if they ever did it
Have you ever co-written a fic before? yesss they’re so much fun!! i love working w my friends and creating new things!! i’m always down for it
What’s your all-time favourite ship? royai and msr baybeee
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? hmmm i would say txf royai au but. i’ve not even started it yet ;___; i really want to tho i just know it will take A Lot and i just. don’t have it in me atm. or the time in general. however, i am determined and won’t be so easily beaten. that’s another project i’ve wanted to do for years so one day i’ll get there
What are your writing strengths? i think writing soft royai. people seem to like my soft royai fics :’) and writing aus. i really enjoy working on aus and creating a new world for royai to run around in and be in love. i would like to think the worlds and plots are interesting enough for me to consider them a strength haha
What are your writing weaknesses? hmmMMM. (there’s a few but) descriptions of places the characters are in i feel like i lack a lot, but i am aware of it and if i was to tackle a big/long plot again that would be something to focus on improving. i could defo include more introspection but also. sometimes i just need to work w the vibe and not go that deep. it takes a lot out of me, however, i just need to practice!
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? i’ve never done it but i have been learning scottish gaelic for the last year and a half and i would love to be able to incorporate it in a fic somehow, but idk if it will ever be able to tie w a royai au haha. idk maybe i’ll just rewrite canon w them all speaking scottish slang that’ll be easy enough. edward elric @ truth: square go mate. @ viz media hmu for that translation anytime
What was the first fandom you wrote for? the x files
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written? hmmm for the longest time it was let you love me and while i still love it, i think it’s been beaten by the way it was and hit and run. i really can’t pick between the two of them. i’m a simple gal, i love riza and royai!family <3
tagging @firewoodfigs @tsaritsa @megthemighty @bringingglory @nightofnyx8 @niconiconina @vadeofspades but no pressure ofc <333

Fanfic asks: 1, 11, 12
1. Favorite fic I wrote
I had fun dabbling in different fandoms this year, including challenging myself by writing about comedies for the first time ever, I think (Hacks and Schitt’s Creek - two very different vibes!), but I think I’ll have go with ghosts in the attic just because I’m still kind of shocked that it exists at all. I don’t know how or why the stars aligned for me to churn out 32k words about characters that I was still very new to and, at the time I started writing it, had only seen like a dozen episodes out of 22 seasons of, but here we are! It was really fun to be writing for an active fandom and awesome to experience the satisfaction of updating a fic that folks seemed to enjoy. I skimmed through it just now and while I’m not quite satisfied with the characterization in the first couple of chapters in particular now that I’ve given up pretending that I’m not going to actually watch SVU and am several seasons in, but overall I’m happy with it.
11. Fandom I enjoyed writing for the most
Probably SVU just in that it’s the only fic that I wrote more than a couple of thousand words for and more than one fic, however tiny the second one is, for. I also have like six fics in that fandom that I started and then never finished (it’s been challenging as hell to balance three active hyperfixations and an insane semester at work so a few of them are unlikely to ever be finished just because I missed the window where they would have been speculatively set prior to new episodes airing), but they were fun to brainstorm. It’s definitely the fandom I’ve been most bombarded by ideas and headcanons by this year.
12. Favorite character to write about
Probably Kara Danvers, an old favorite! This is cheating a bit because while I did post one Supergirl fic that was very Kara-centric this year, the other two Supergirl fics that I’ve been working on are as of yet unfinished - I expect them both to be published by the end of the year, though. One in particular is a post-finale Kara gen fic that sprung up on me unexpectedly, and I’m excited to finish in the next couple of days. I’ve reconnected with my love of Supergirl this year, which has definitely involved a lot of letting go what didn’t work and what I didn’t like (a lot) and focusing more on the characters and relationship dynamics that I love (also a lot) and enjoying the potential in them that fandom provides the opportunity to explore. It’s been fun.

FIC WRITER QUESTIONS
Thank you to the lovely @allwaswell16 @runaway-train-works @so-why-let-your-voice-be-tamed @uhoh-but-yeah-alright and @evilovesyou for tagging me to answer some questions about my writing.
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
47
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
901,445 (Hoping to hit the Magic Million by the end of the year!)
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
1 (One Direction)
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
When Tomorrow Comes 1155
The Baby Whisperer 950
Love, Ever After 898
Harry Poppins 856
Play Me A Memory 760
More under the cut…
5) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Oh gosh. Uhm. I don’t really write angsty endings? All my fics have Happy Endings and most have epilogues to round them out and tie them up in a bow. Perhaps I’d say If You’re Out There (I’ll Find You Somehow) purely because (spoiler ahead) the epilogue is written 100 years into the future so they’ve both passed.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Interestingly, I would actually say the answer is the same as above, If You’re Out There (I’ll Find You Somehow). The epilogue is so uplifting and I cry happy tears every time I re-read it. It’s written from the POV of their granddaughter and you get to see the world they had a hand in changing for the better through her eyes, so you get a sense of how impactful their lives were on the rest of society. Oof, tearing up right now just thinking about it.
7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Yeah, I have actually. I really enjoy doing new takes on an existing universes, although they aren’t always the easiest thing to pull off tbh. I’m not sure which I would say is the craziest, but the hardest to write was definitely The Peter Pan/Hook AU.
Harry Poppins - Loosely based on the book/movie Mary Poppins, but without any magical aspects.
Playing To Win - Set in the Big Brother house.
The Pirate and The Piper - A Peter Pan/Hook AU which I took a lot of liberties with.
In The Still Of The Night - My Dirty Dancing AU.
A Hungry Heart - This is a Great British Bake Off AU that is due out in September for the Cliche Fic Fest!
8) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Whoa Nelly. Yeah, I do. All the time. Every fic actually. There’s only one, Exposed, the only fic I’ve published that’s not rated Explicit and doesn’t have smut. But, to be fair, the challenge was to write exactly 666 words and I still managed to get the implication in there. Plus, Louis was naked and Harry was applying body paint for the majority of the story, so like, I think I can get a free pass on that one - I tried!
In terms of what type of smut, I guess it varies depending on the story. I tend not to push the boat out too far, but I do dabble in BDSM in quite a few of my fics. A recurring theme in the comments I receive is that my smut scenes are well constructed and detailed, without being too tedious or drawn out, which is lovely feedback to get because they can be challenging to write.
9) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Absolutely. Every single one.
10) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not often, people are usually so kind, but there have been a couple.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of!
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah, quite a lot, particularly on Wattpad, all with my full consent. That said, I’m thinking of stopping this because it’s getting a bit out of hand and I’ve been feeling uncomfortable about it recently for various reasons that I won’t bore you with here.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope! I don’t think it’s really my thing tbh. I get very in my head about writing and struggle even to brainstorm or share too much until I’m well into a story.
14) What’s your all time favorite ship?
Of the 47 fics I’ve written, there are 45 Larry, 1 Narry, and 1 Louis/Dermot O’Leary (I think mine is still the only fic with this ship hahahaa), so that’s probably a good indication of my fave writing ship.
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I have one lonely WIP sitting on AO3 from 2018. I keep promising myself I’ll finish it and it’s on my schedule every year, then I get distracted by other fics/fests and it gets pushed back. Plus, it needs a complete rewrite because my style has developed so much since I started it, so it’ll be a big job. Based on that, I think that the fic, in its current form, won’t ever be finished as the rewrite will completely wipe out what it was, although the underlying plot will still be there.
16) What are your writing strengths?
World building (or so I’m often told). I write very visually and people often say they can imagine the scene exactly, or that it’s like a movie, or that they think it’s actually a real place I’m describing, when most of the time it absolutely isn’t, it’s just something I’ve created in my weird brain.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Dialogue (although my lovely beta disagrees) and telling rather than showing. They’re both things I’m actively working on.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I’ve never really considered it. It’s not something I’d shy away from necessarily, but it’s just never come up.
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
One Direction. First and only.
20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Wow. This is really tough because it changes over time. I find that once I’ve finished a fic I don’t want to revisit it for a few months because I’m kind of over it. But I find comfort in them after a while, like I get to go back to that happy place and immerse myself in that world and the characters again, similar to catching up with an old friend. It’s familiar. I think I also like different stories for different reasons and I’m drawn to various ones depending on my mood. My top 3 (although, ask me next week and the list will probably be completely different!) would probably be:
1. If You’re Out There (I’ll Find You Somehow). Written for the hybrid fic fest (a fest I created just for this fic lol). It’s not everyone’s cup of tea due to the hybrid aspect, but it’s one of the stories I feel is the most rounded from a character development perspective and the world building was pretty epic, if I can be so bold as to throw that out there myself!
2. No Going Back. One of my Big Bangs from 2020. I adore the way their relationship develops in this fic and the setting (as remote lighthouse keepers) was such a lot of fun to write. Plus I got to collaborate with an amazing artist who created an entire website as an accompanying travel blog which was truly wonderful.
3. From The Heart. This is a series I wrote for wordplay back in 2019. I had no idea that what I was doing was so unusual and so meta by having Louis essentially write for the equivalent of wordplay in the fic. It was such an fun way to share my writing process and challenges I encounter (exactly how many synonyms tabs do I have open at any one time?!) and I thoroughly enjoyed the outcome (although getting there was definitely a struggle).
~
This was really fun and thanks to anyone who made it this far! Writing brings me so much joy and is a wonderful outlet for all the imaginings in my head, so I appreciate everyone who supports me and joins me on that journey.
~
I’m pretty late with this and I’m not sure who has already done it but I’ll tag @fallinglikethis @homosociallyyours @lululawrence @reminiscingintherain and @beau-soleil-louis if they’d like to do this and haven’t already.

Fanfic Writer Asks
I wasn't tagged, but it popped up in my searches somewhere, and I thought it looked like fun, so I had to do it!
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 38 works so far.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
291,786.
3) How many fandoms have you written for, and what are they?
I've only written for Teen Wolf at the moment (except for my little dabble in Gotham which I deleted everything for), but I've recently started reading fics from a few others, so we'll see if I end up writing anything for them too.
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. True Mates
2. Peter Hale's Hero
3. How Much?
4. Is That Really Necessary?
5. Intoxicate Me Now
5) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I don't think I've written anything with an angsty ending yet? I want to, though! I have WIPs, lol.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Most of my fics have happy endings (if not all), but I would say Under The Mistletoe is probably the happiest of my happy endings.
7) Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Not yet. I am planning a few Stiles/Loki fics, but I wouldn’t say they are particularly crazy.
8) Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Ha, yes, I write smut. All kinds, really. I will write anything; the spicier, the better.
9) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Always. Well, I will always try to respond to every comment I get. If I've missed one or two, it's genuinely a mistake. I'd never intentionally ignore a comment.
10) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes. I received quite a hateful comment on one of my Sterek fics. I haven't had any more since then, though. Thankfully.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of?
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope, but I'd love it if it ever happened.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, I have! @yogi-bogey-box and I co-wrote A Monstrous Love.
14) What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Steter. I think it will always be my favourite, or at least, will always hold a special place in my heart. I am really invested in Barduil at the moment, though, and I think the only thing stopping it from being my favourite is that there's not many fics out there for the ship—and not many new ones coming in. Crying shame. But yeah, Steter. I just love Peter Hale so damn much.
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I have to pick only one? 'Cause I have a few WIPs in my folder that are bare ideas or full on outlines, but part of me thinks I'll never actually get around to writing them.
I am an absolute sucker for Medieval AU's—or anything Historical really—and I have a few ideas mulling around for those sorts of settings. One is King Peter, another is Fae Lord Stiles, another is a Jane Eyre mash-up, another is Stiles as the King's Assassin, another is a plain old Regency Romance, and so many others... I'd probably be here all day listing them off.
I don't know why they'll never be written, I just feel like they would take a lot of time to perfect, and I just don't have that time. But. The ideas are there, and they are never being deleted, so maybe one day.
16) What are your writing strengths?
Er... dialogue, maybe? I'm not sure. Or like... coming up with ideas? Can that be classed as a strength? I feel like I have some pretty good ideas for fics; I just don't write them, lol.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Anything to do with punctuation or tenses. Honestly, as I said above, I may have a decent imagination, but the technical stuff just stumps me. If I could just sit and tell someone my ideas and roughly what I want written down (the feelings and all that business), that would be ideal, then they can do all the grammar and spelling nonsense.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I've never tried it, BUT I probably will in the future 'cause I do have a few fics that will require another language. Tbh. For me, since I'm not fluent in any other language except English, I would never try to take on full sentences or whatever unless I knew someone who could confidently speak that language and could help me. I don’t mind using a few words here and there, but anything more, I'd need to do so much research first lest I end up looking like a tit.
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Gotham, but I deleted everything I wrote for it and turned them into Teen Wolf.
20) What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Probably Treasure. It has everything I love in it, and I think it's a good mix of hot and silly.
No pressure tags: @lavender-lotion, @ash-mcj, @nutellarghh, @msridcully, @tarvera, and anyone else who wants to do it.
Blank questions under the cut.

#7 and #27 for the writer asks~
Writer ask: 27 :)
5, 27?
20 and 30
6
18!!!
12?
I’m sorry I’m answering these so late OTL I decided to just group them all together so I don’t have to spam everyone with my answers!! Thank you to everyone who sent in an ask, though <3
5. What’s your favorite genre to write?
All of the fic I write tends to be centered around romance!! Fluff and angst are my go to staples, and I think I made a post a while back about very specific troupes I like (reincarnation, sharing a bed, childhood friends to lovers).
In terms of my original stuff, I notice I have a lot of urban fantasy, but I’m also trying to dabble in historical fiction and horror rn!! I want to try writing a bunch of different genres to broaden my horizons!! Funnily enough, I rarely write romance, probably because I explore it so much in fic ^^
6. What’s your least favorite genre to write?
The easiest answer would be nonfiction, including academic papers, because they’re so dry and difficult to write. I do get a kick out of analyzing novels in essays, though. In terms of fiction, I’m not really a fan of high fantasy, but maybe I just haven’t really dabbled in that genre too much. This might be an odd one, but I don’t really like the body swap troupe, either, because the idea of losing my own body is horrifying.
7. Do you often read books/other fics as a reference?
I notice it’s harder for me to read fic when I actively write it (though I do like to read and reblog my friends’ stuff to support them), and I don’t want to inadvertently steal someone’s idea or something, you know?
I was a voracious reader when I was younger, not so much now that I’ve gotten a bit older, and I’m trying to pick up books again. I read books more often than I read fic, haha.
I do, however, love reading and I love to analyze things, so whether it’s fanfic or a published novel, I’ll try to understand why the characters act a certain way, how the author uses metaphors or motifs, how they build their plot, set up suspense, and so on!! I’ll also read books in genres I’m not familiar with (sci fi and horror for example) so I can try to deconstruct and understand the genre better!
12. Is it okay for people to ask you about your process?
This question is a little vague, but yeah! If anyone wants to ask me anything, I’d be happy to answer, haha, though I’m always improving and learning, too ^^
18. What are you currently trying to improve on?
In terms of fic, I often worry about dialogue. I can write prose, sure, but capturing the voice of a character can be a bit difficult for me, and I fear I often fall back on witty banter when I have nothing else. Action is hard for me to write, too, because I’ve never really done it.
In terms of my original stuff, I worry about plot. It’s actually really hard to plan when things are supposed to happen in longer stories, and I worry about suspense. Did the opening drag on too much? Am I building the central conflict properly? Also, is the character development too sudden or soon? Did I really explore what they’re like before moving on to how/why they change?
20. What is the easiest thing for you to write?
I think I love writing the climax of an emotional moment, or anything that involves a character’s inner monologue. The more intimate or soft pieces that allow me to flex my prose are always fun.
27. Do you make in-depth plans/outlines for fics, or do you jump right in?
I usually have a loose outline for what I want to happen, or a few snippets of lines that I want to add in a fic, but I don’t like to keep anything too detailed. With outlines I tend to deviate from them a lot! I always check to make sure I’m moving in the direction I need to be, though, so I’ll check my outline often. I don’t really have as much of an outline for fic, because they tend to be so much shorter that it’s not necessary. I also write a bunch of notes (lines to include, symbolism to add, reasoning behind someone’s motivations, etc) in the margins of my outlines, haha.
30. What inspires you not just to write, but to become a better writer?
I don’t think I have a more detailed answer other than that I just simply love writing, and, not to be melodramatic, but I think something in me would die if I never wrote again.
Sometimes I’ll read a good book and want to write something that captures how that book made me feel. I love sharing my work with my friends, whether that means we collaborate on a piece or we just read each other’s works and give feedback. I also like sharing my works with other people, to know that my works have the power to make them feel something, that they look at my stuff and think they want to see more.

Fic Writer Questions
I was tagged by @ashavahishta and @indigo2831
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
93
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
805,881
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
16! 9-1-1, 9-1-1 Lone Star, Les Mis, Marvel, The Almighty Johnsons, White Collar, The Hobbit, The Magicians, Graceland, The Flash, Now You See Me, Burn Notice, The Man From UNCLE, Royal Pains, Shadowhunters, and Star Wars
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Not Worth It
Soccer Mom Protocol
School Nurse Protocol
The Babysitter Protocol
Just Below the Crowded Avenue
Which are all for the Marvel fandom
5) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Oooohhhh.... I try not to be too angsty near the end. I guess.... Will I Ever Be More Than I've Always Been? because it leads into the truck explosion and Athena getting a first real glimpse of Buck's parents being a waste of space a total let down.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
OH! I think that's probably a tie between She Made Herself Stronger (by Fighting with the Wind) and To Look and Be Seen and Howard Han's Daycare Carpool
7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I do! I have a crossover with Graceland and Les Mis because Aaron Tveit whump was the dream (also a Harry Potter crossover)! I also have a very subtle crossover in The Almighty Johnsons where Anders is friends with the reincarnated Hercules which was a little nod to Dean O'Gorman being on Young Hercules. I've also a crossover with White Collar, Royal Pains, and Burn Notice. Annndddd..... *checks notes* Also just I crossed over all the Marvel fics all the time.
8) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I've been known to dabble from time to time. Just depends on the tone of the story. My main thing is keeping it consensual, have healthy communication, and show safe practices.
9) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I don't. I used to respond to everyone all the time but I had a few run ins where certain people have been a bit rude. I also stressed about my responses a TON because I didn't want to seem like I was just copying and pasting and that was taking up a lot of my energy. Eventually I had to decide what readers wanted more: my responses to comments or my writing. I'll answer a question here and there but for the most part I let the comment section be a space for the readers.
10) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not really. I did get one person who was kind of really mean but they'd been mean to a lot of people so I took that with a grain of salt. I get more rude comments from time to time but those are also easy to disregard since I don't respond to comments anymore.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Sort of? I've had a few instances where people have taken certain things from my fics or scenarios from my fics and wrote it their own way. Though someone did take a part of my fic that was like a 5+1 and expanded one of the 5 to do their own story but that was on a site I don't use so I didn't know about it until recently.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of but it's possible.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
*side eyes @buddie-buddie* Ella you remember that time we went deep in our Buckley Siblings feels?
14) What’s your all time favorite ship?
Oh definitely Buddie for sure! Buddie followed by Enjolras/Grantaire.
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I had a Carlos whump fic that I was working on but I've lost the inspiration (and the fun) from being a part of that fandom. But who knows? Never say never.
16) What are your writing strengths?
Character and pacing/tone? I feel like a lot of people talk about those the most.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Homophones and being kind to myself.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
If it's in character and done correctly then sure! I made it a point in I Want You to be Happier where the only Spanish Eddie says is the Spanish he says in canon or the one time he's parroting back to Abuela. Abuela and her friends spoke Spanish fluently though and since Eddie was living with her, I would write him understanding parts of what she was saying. I actually even specifically only had Eddie mentally translate one sentence ("Who was on the phone?") and because it's a common occurrence he knew what she was saying. But whenever I do a different language I make sure that I am almost 100 percent correct when using it!
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Charmed!
20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
....Tortured Musician Buck!AU my beloved!!!! That one and Tear Me to Pieces; Skin to Bone and If I Fall, Can You Pull Me Up?
Imma tag @buddie-buddie @lovebuck @herodiaz @softsatanhq @renecdote @maddieandchimney @madneyfiles @buttercupbuck

Fic Tag Game
Grabbed from @hils79, because it looked like fun.
Name: Merinnan, which I’ve gone by for... fifteen years now, I think? Prior to that, I mostly used Calicia (and sometimes Zoi).
Fandoms: Like Hils, I’m only going to list the fandoms I’ve actually written fic for.
Star Trek: My very first fandom, and the one I’ve written the most fics for (so far - I suspect that DMBJ will overtake it. It certainly already has in terms of word count). I was (and am still) primarily a DS9 fan, and was a huge Kira/Dukat and Garak/Bashir shipper back in the day. Most of my Trekfics are DS9 fics, but I also dabbled a little bit in TOS and TNG, and had one or two crackfic crossovers that involved Voyager characters. Discovery has tempted me with a few fic ideas, but I haven’t written anything for it yet.
Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon: aka, the show that first had me seriously questioning my sexuality. Look, Haruka and Michiru are #goals, don’t judge me. This is also where my Zoi name came from, after the first season villain Zoisite, whom I cosplayed several times. Unsurprisingly, my main ships are HaruMichi and KunZoi. Despite this fact, neither of my published Sailormoon fics are HaruMichi.
Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040: A short-lived fandom, but one I still liked enough to write a fic for and get the OST CD.
World of Warcraft: I wouldn’t say I’m really part of the fandom, per se, but I’ve been playing since the dying days of Burning Crusade, am a huge lore nerd, and started writing a crossover fic that is currently on indefinite hiatus. I do plan to come back and finish it, but first RL got in the way, and now I have to try and remember where I’d actually been planning to go with it.
A Court of Thorns and Roses: That crossover fic I just mentioned? Yeah, this is what it’s a crossover with. ACoTaR fandom went sleepy for awhile, but it’s back up and kicking now that A Court of Silver Flames is out - if any of you are still following me, it’s great to see everyone active again! To the surprise of no-one who knows me, I’m a big Nessian shipper.
Mo Dao Zu Shi / Chen Qing Ling / The Untamed: I came to this fandom via ACoTaR, actually, after a certain person (hi, @rhysand-vs-fenrys!) wouldn’t stop gushing about it :-) This is the fandom that really and seriously got me back into regular fic writing again after 15-ish years. I’m a multishipper here, and have written / am writing WangXian, NieLan, XiCheng, XuanLi, and XiSang.
Guardian / Zhen Hun: MDZS fandom led me to Guardian, which, along with DMBJ, has devoured my life in a way that hasn’t happened since my Star Trek days, and I love it! WeiLan is my major ship, but I’m also quite fond of the DaMian life raft.
Zhu Yilong: Yes, I’m going to list a person as a fandom. Zhu Yilong is one of the stars of Guardian, and is both incredibly pretty and an incredibly talented actor. So much so that I have suffered through some truly terrible dramas just to watch him in them. I do not write Z1L-fic, since RPF of living people is a personal squick of mine, but I am working on a massive crossover fic of most of his characters.
Mo Du: Guardian led me along to more of Priest’s works, such as Mo Du, which is now officially my favourite book, and I adore the main WenZhou ship. The Mo Du fandom right now is pretty tiny, and I’m still working on my first fic for it, but I hope that it will grow with the donghua due out this year, and the drama having just started filming.
Daomu Biji / The Lost Tomb: I initially came into this fandom because of Zhu Yilong, who played Wu Xie in the Reboot / Reunion / Chongqi drama, and then I got sucked into the fandom pit of all of the books and dramas and spinoffs, and it’s wonderful and fantastic. I have written so much for it, and have so much more planned. PingXie and PingXieSang are my main ships here, but I’m also a HeiHua fan, and very much enjoying the RiSang pool noodle that @kholran created.
Tropes: Hurt/Comfort and crack are my major ones.
Fic I spent most time on: A toss-up between Endings and Beginnings and Reunion, both DS9 fics. Endings and Beginnings is an alternate ending to the show, while Reunion is a Gul Dukat-centric fic set around, oh, season 5ish? Both were written for and initially published in print fanzines, so in addition to time spent writing, there was a lot of back and forth for editing, etc.
Favourite fic(s) you’ve written: Look, I honestly couldn’t say. I like most of the fics I’ve written, and there are several that I’m really proud of and really like.
Fic I spent least time on: Silent Graves, a super angsty DMBJ/Lost Tomb Xiaoge fic. I think I wrote it in like 15 minutes.
Longest fic: Cat’s Paw, a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXieSang canon rewrite fic I co-wrote with @xantissa, at  247 826 words. For fics written by just me, not with a co-writer, then that would be Nevermore, my WIP MDZS/CQL XiCheng Pacific Rim AU, at 22 276 words and counting.
Shortest fic: Every entry in my DS9 Drabbles series, with each one at exactly 100 words. Although if you count them as a quintdrabble, then Indiscretion (a DS9 missing scene vignette about Gul Dukat, set during the episode of the same name) at 169 words.
Most hits/kudos/comments/bookmarks/subscriptions: The answer to all of these is either Cat’s Paw or Nevermore, so I’m going to give the next highest.
Hits:  Those who fear darkness have never seen what light can do, a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXie supernatural AU fic co-written with xantissa.
Since this fic also takes the highest kudos, bookmarks, and subscriptions after Cat’s Paw/Nevermore, I’ll skip to the next fic along on each of those.
Kudos: Stars fall like diamonds, a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXie missing scene fic from Reboot/Reunion/Chongqi.
Bookmarks: A Knight in Bloody Armour, another DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXieSang supernatural AU fic (but a different supernatural AU) co-written with xantissa.
Comments: Ears and Other Related Calamities, yet another DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXieSang supernatural AU fic (of a different again supernatural AU) co-written with xantissa.
Subscriptions: The Rescue Job, a Guardian WeiLan Leverage AU, currently at one chapter complete and posted out of a planned five chapters.
Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: We have plans for a prequel and a sequel to A Knight in Bloody Armour, and a spinoff fic for The Zhang Identity (a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXie AU that is complete but not yet posted. It will be posted in April as part of the Small Fandoms Big Bang).
Share a bit of a WIP: This is from an as-yet-unnamed post-canon fix-it fic for the Guardian drama:
It was hurting again. Zhao Yunlan curled up into a tight ball under the hospital blankets, trying to ignore it enough to try to get back to sleep. He knew it wouldn't work, because he couldn't remember a time when it ever did, but it was always worth a shot, right? He squeezed his eyes shut and held himself tightly for a few...moments? Minutes?...before grabbing his stuffed cat and clutching it while he forced himself to breathe deep, slow breaths the way the doctors back in Spring City had taught him.
Eventually, the pain died back down to its usual dull ache, the one that was bearable and let him play, and watch TV, and do school lessons with his mother. One day, she said, they'd find a doctor who knew what was wrong, why he hurt all the time, and the doctor would give him medicine that would keep the worst pain away so that he could go to an actual school and meet more kids than the ones who lived in their apartment block or who frequented the same playground that he liked to go to.
Zhao Yunlan tried closing his eyes again, seeing if he could go back to sleep, but he was far too awake now. He sighed, sitting up in bed and looking around the room. Again. It was just like the hospital rooms in Spring City, and in Kiyota City. He figured that if the doctors here in Tomorrow Mountains couldn't help, his parents would take him to yet another city, and the hospital rooms there would probably look the same, too.
Then, over the faint beeping of hospital equipment, and the quiet murmurs further down the corridor of nurses at the nurse station or seeing to other patients, he heard a soft sniffling sound, like someone was trying not to cry too loudly. He picked up his stuffed cat and looked at it.
"What do you think, Dead Cat?" he asked it. "Should we go and find them?"
Dead Cat didn't answer, of course, but that didn't stop Zhao Yunlan from assuming that it agreed with him, and slipping out of bed. His feet touched the cold tile floor with barely a sound, and, still holding Dead Cat tightly, Zhao Yunlan padded over to the door. He looked up and down the corridor, then left his room to track down the sniffling noise.
He wasn't surprised that it came from the next room. He was surprised that it came from another kid, a boy who looked to be about his age, huddled in bed and wiping his eyes.
"Hi," Zhao Yunlan whispered. The other boy looked up in surprise, then stopped to clutch his chest as he began to cough. Once he'd finished coughing, Zhao Yunlan and Dead Cat were perched on the end of his bed.
"I'm Zhao Yunlan, and this is Dead Cat." He held up Dead Cat, moving one of the paws to wave hello. "What's your name?"
The boy wiped his eyes again. "Shen Ye."

Fic Writer Review
Thanks for the tag @lambden ! This looks like a fun one C:
I'll tag @jaskiersvalley @catoeirienind and @sinclairsolutions if you'd like to give it a go!
It is a bit long, so I added a cut in midway through lol
1. how many works do you have on ao3?
Somehow I have 135?? Which is still wild to me lol. And back when I first started I didn't upload anything under 1K to AO3, so there are probably more works that never made it or are stuck as chapters in collection fics
2. what’s your total ao3 word count?
755,735
3. how many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
I've really only written for Detroit: Become Human and the Witcher, with one tiny little detour into Transistor for a gift exchange
4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. More Than Enough (E), my very first geraskier, which had very good timing and absolutely blew up XD
2. What's It Going to Take for You to Feel Good? (E), my choose-your-own-adventure style G9 sexcapade fic, which got a boost at some point from a popular twitter artist
3. Too Tired to Ask, But Not to Receive (E), my foray into classic geraskier comfort sex with bottom!Geralt
4. In Which Gavin Learns to Love an Elder God (E), my BABY, my very first fic, the one that started it all <3 <3
5. What's It Going to Take for You to Feel? (T), the only non-explicit fic here, and sort of my take on the classic G9 falling in love deviation story
5. do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I respond to all my comments! I love hearing what people have to say about my work, and I want to make sure they know I appreciate the effort they make to leave those kind words C: I keep on top of it too, usually only leaving comments in my inbox for 2 weeks tops (although sometimes I'll hoard a particularly good comment for a while longer).
6. what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
oh gosh uhhhh I don't write hard angst too often tbh, but I'd say probably.... There Are No Atheists In Foxholes (E)? Because it has literal MCD in it? XD We're Good At Bad Ideas (M) also is very MCD-angsty, but it's canon death so it doesn't read as angsty to me
7. do you write crossovers? if so, what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I think I've genuinely only ever written one??? Which is surprising somehow... I'm definitely inspired by other works when I make AUs, but the only true crossover I've written is this DBH/Witcher one: Cyberlife's Butcher (G)
8. have you ever received hate on a fic?
I've been very lucky and have not
9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
I feel like I write a lot of smut, but surprisingly E and M rated fics only make up 68 of my total on AO3! As for what kind, lord, I don't quite know XD I dabble in kinks occasionally, but I'd put myself somewhere between vanilla and kinky in terms of usual smut
10. have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge, no!
11. have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope, but I've gotten several wonderful podfics <3
12. have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have! But I really only write with people I've known for a long time, because I'm pretty picky about my writing process XD
13. what’s your all-time fave ship?
That is an impossible question lol, I really couldn't say. There are ships I always come back to, but what my favorite is depends on what fandom I'm thinking about tbh
14. what’s a fic you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
As a rule I don't post fics that aren't finished, just because I can't stand leaving things undone. I guess in terms of series I'm not sure if I'll ever get back to Don't Let It In. Prairie horror my beloved, but I think an initial lack of interest in the second part left me wondering if I should expand the universe further, and my motivation hasn't really come back for it
15. what are your writing strengths?
I think my descriptions are generally pretty good, I like painting a picture for my reader because that's how things look in my brain C:
16. what are your writing weaknesses?
Beginnings and endingsssssss a lot of them just straight up blend together because I'm a bit cliche and don't want to let the start stop me from writing XD
17. what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages on a fic?
If you're going to do it, you should do it properly (a little more effort than just google translate), and make sure there's a good reason for it to be there.
18. what was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
[redacted] anime fandom, mostly likely!!! I wrote some anime fics back in the day, and also a few fics for an extended oc rp universe I had with a friend, but those never made it further than my google drive.
19. what is your favorite fic you’ve ever written?
OOF hit me with the difficult one right at the end...It depends on the day and the fandom and the mood that I'm in tbh. I'm always terribly fond of fics in my Elder Gods verse because I've spent so much time with them and I think I've done my best storytelling there.

fic writer tag!!
thank you so much for the tag @aliceu! i got very excited when i saw 🥰🥰
1. what fandoms have you written for (but do not currently)?
*sigh*
please excuse my middle school self, but there was both a supernatural… and a hamilton/hunger games story. please, please do not ask it makes me want to cry.
2. what fandoms are you currently writing for?
skz and ateez! maybe i’ll dabble into a one-shot with other groups, but as of now i’m very content with that :3
3. how long have you been writing?
is it cheesy to say forever lmao? i have relatives i don’t recall ever meeting telling me i told them stories i made up when i could barely talk. i also have journals upon journals full of stories starting from when i was is the first grade, leading up to when i learned to type.
writing is kinda what i wanna do with my life, so i haven’t ever really stopped in all that time. so yeah haha, forever i guess🤷🏼‍♀️
4. what platforms do you post your stories?
tumblr and ao3!
5. what is your favourite genre to write?
probably angst, tbh. but like, stories that have lots of angst, but also moments of fluff and romance to balance it out.
but also fantasy stories. that’s my fav genre to both read and write.
6. are you a pantser or a planner.
a planner. 100%. i don’t think i’ve ever started writing a story without at least an outline. sometimes i change things along the way if i really want to, but that’s the only time i go in with no game plan.
7. one-shot or multi-chapter?
oh, both! both for sure. i enjoy how much development you can build over a multi-chapter fic, but they do get to be a lot of work sometimes lmaoo. one-shots are just really fun. not as big of a commitment, but at the same time, you often can’t dive as deep into things.
8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?
for writing i would say 6k, because that’s when i start to get a bit tuckered out lmaoo.
for reading, the longer the better. if i’m invested, i love getting a bunch of content all at once ☺️
9. what is your longest story?
indulgence! it’s not done yet, but it’s currently sitting at 28.8k.
10. what story did you enjoy writing the most?
i would say indulgence, but i’m ngl this last chapter has been destroying me with writers block. so maybe daisies? it was very cute and fun and i flew through it a lot faster than i can usually write.
11. favourite request you’ve written and why?
as of now, i don’t write requests. i have too many ideas stored up to write first. 🥴
12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?
uh.
that’s a really good question lmao. and i honestly have never thought about it. probably? i mean, i guess i’ve written a lot of strangers to lovers so far?
13. current number of wips?
that i am currently writing writing? 2. but as for plotted out and some dialogue sitting in my notes? at least 10.
14. three things you have noticed about you writing?
1) comma abuse. i just, use a lot of commas, maybe too many sometimes.
2) (starts dialogue) *small description of who said such dialogue and what they are doing* (ends dialogue)
3) use of one words sentences for ~emphasis~
15. a quote you like from a published story.
from a train, her lips, the music. :
“Hyunjin loved you before he saw you. Well, perhaps not you yourself, exactly. But your sound. The way with every note you played, that with every piano key that was blessed with the grace of your fingertips the empty theatre seemed to come to life. Your music would dance through the absent audience with the footsteps of an angel, soft and melodic. Hauntingly beautiful. Perfect.”
16. a quote from an unpublished story.
from i lost something in the hills. :
there was much you wanted to say, about war. about the draft. about how ridiculous it was to not be able to speak in your own home.
however, you would say none of it. not out of weakness, or fear, but rather because if you did you’d be sent to your room. you’d be taken away from the conversation entirely, from the information you desired.
and information you’d learned, for a young woman of your time, was the most valuable asset of all.
17. space for you to say something to your readers~
well, thank you ofc🥰 thank you for taking your time to read my work, it genuinely means the world to me. for anyone who has ever left a nice comment, or ask, or just screamed in the tags of a reblog, i luv you. you inspire me to write more, and i appreciate you so so much. 🤍🥺
tagging: @healinghyunjin and i see most people i know have been tagged already, so anyone else who writes and wants to do this ☺️

Author Questionnaire
Thanks for the tag @cinlat This took forever so I'm not going to tag anyone else but please do it if you want, I'd love to know more about so many of the people I follow! And if you do it after seeing it here, tag me!
1. Name: Dimigex
2. Fandoms: Mostly Naruto and Overwatch. I've dabbled in Fullmetal and there are some others I think I could, but there's never enough hours
3. Where You Post: here on tumblr and A03 and Fanfiction.net
4. Most Popular One Shot: Hints (1331 kudos) which is a Kakashi/Iruka slow burn one shot in which Genma plays matchmaker. Honestly, I have no idea why it's so popular.
5. Most Popular Multi-chapter: Altered Reality (381 kudos lol) which is a Kakashi/Rin fix it fic that I honestly never meant to write lol
6. Actual Worst Part of Writing: Making it perfect through editing. I have always said that I am a terrible writer and a great editor but it is so time consuming. I want to get to the fun stuff and get bogged down fixing the plot and setting things up that I lose interest.
7. Favorite Story You Wrote: This is actually a really hard one for me. It's a toss-up between Falling Cherry Blossoms and I'll be the Moon. Falling Cherry Blossoms is an exploration of grief and what it would take to break Kakashi. and I'll be the Moon really delves into the complexity of love and relationships.
8. Story You Were Nervous To Post: Honestly, I'm nervous to post every story. No matter what someone says, writing is putting a piece of yourself out there for someone to take a look at. I was pretty nervous posting my first KakaYama smut which was in Surprised Disguise, where Kakashi surprises Tenzo as Sukea and gets way more than he bargained for. Distraction also made me nervous. It's a KakaSaku mututal pining where they enjoy themselves since they can't have each other.
9. How You Choose Your Titles: Luck of the draw? Most of my titles come from song lyrics that inspired the story in the first place. Sometimes they're spot on descriptors of what's in the story, but it's normally song lyrics because I'm not terribly creative. By the time I get to the title, i've used up all my creative prowess elsewhere.
10. Complete Works: Are you serious right now? There are so many if we count one shots. I started doing them all, then got bored about one page in and decided to hit the highlights after a point. These are the most recent one shots or notable ones.
- Collateral Damage (Overwatch, In which Ana has has had too many friendly fire incidents)
- Silent Pleasures (Naruto, Kakashi/Iruka have some not safe for work fun at work)
- Forever and Always (Naruto, Kakasaku one shot where he's badly injured on a mission)
- Aftermath (Overwatch, Jack has some regrets about how he left things with Gabe)
- Imposter (Naruto, Kakashi/Tenzo in which Kakashi is jealous of Tenzo's stuffie that looks like him)
- Relapse (Naruto, Kakashi/Sakura in which she slept with Sasuke while she and Kakashi might have had something between them)
- Worlds Collide (Naruto, Kakayama in which Tenzo is captured by Obito and turned against Konoha and Kakashi. Kakashi will save him no mater the price)
-I'll be the Moon (Naruto, Kakashi/Sakura in which she's married to Sasuke but it having an affair with Kakashi. It's a complex look at love, life, and relationships)
- Find Me in the Dark (Naruto, Kakashi/Tenzo in which Tenzo gets captured and tortured by Orochimaru)
- Lightning and Starlight (Naruto, in which Kakashi wasn't fast enough to stop Sakura from putting a chidori through Sakura's chest)
- Surprised Disguise (Naruto, Kakashi/Tenzo, in which flirting as Sukea has unexpected results)
- Flood (Naruto, in which Kakashi pulls a prank on Genma by telling him that Sakura is pregnant)
- Falling Cherry Blossoms (Naruto, Kakashi centric, where he loses nearly everyone and falls apart)
- Muddy Water (Naruto, Genma/Sakura, the crack fic that built a ship? When I wrote thie, there were almost no other stories with this pairing. Sakura takes a mission she's not prepared for and Genma saves her in more ways than one
11. Incomplete Works:
- Drabbles, Requests, and Things I Should Have Left Alone (this is my catch all file for all the random things, multiple fandom)
-Heart in a Silver Cage (Naruto, Genma/OC, enemies to lovers slow burn mission fic)
- Healing Hands (Naruto, Tenzo/Sakura glacial burn that deals with ptsd and mental health)
- Losing Control (Naruto, Genma/Sakura or maybe Kakashi/Sakura, in which Sakura is pregnant with Genma's child)
- Tongue in Cheek (Naruto/SWtoR crossover in which Genma and @cinlat s OC Fynta get into all kinds of trouble, probably in both worlds)
- Altered Reality (Naruto, Kakashi/Rin fix it fic in which she lived, they got married, and she's pregnant with their child but she can't remember it)
- Run to You (Naruto, Tsunade/Jiraiya falling in love, falling apart, and trying to reconcile together, spanning their whole relationship with vignettes)
- Save Yourself: Shadows and Regrets (Naruto, Kakashi/Tenzo falling in love in Anbu with a healthy dose of Genma humor thrown in)
12. Do you outline: Rarely, we die like men here. Honestly, once I outline it all, I lose interest. That said, both AR (Altered Reality) and Caged (Heart in a Silver Cage) have outlines. HH (Healing Hands) is roughly written and needs all the editing and shaping.
13. Coming Soon: Heaing Hands is the big coming soon because it's written, but I'm working on several Overwatch fics. My favorite is (You Held the Gun that) Fired First which is a massive reaper76 that includes Vincent, falling in love, falling into bed, and falling apart.
14. Best writing trait: Personally, I think I write emotions well. Angst is my favorite tbh @birkastan2018 once called me their angst dealer and it literally made my year lol
15. Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: Gabriel's background story in Overwatch. I have all the ideas and none of the writing lol
16. Spicy Tangential Opinion: Honestly, I don't get triggered by too much either way. To each their own and if I dont' agree I can move on without blasting someone over something.

Fic writer asks
Thank you @a-cosmic-elf for tagging me! I love tag games, so thank you for thinking of me!!!
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
17. Such a good number. (That’s my birthday, hehe)
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
189,412. Not bad for two years of posting.
3) How many fandoms have you written for, and what are they?
Really two, Game of Thrones and Marvel (just one). I’ve written a couple of Sherlock fics, but they are staying unpublished.
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Knock Three Times - My exchange fic from last year, where Jaime opens his apartment door to find a naked and wet Brienne standing in front of him, asking to use his phone.
Saving Jaime Lannister - While on a hike in an old forest, Brienne hears a voice in her head, imploring her to find Jaime Lannister. Find him and save him. And she does. And it’s only the beginning.
The Love I’ll Never Recover From - Jaime is inspecting a newly acquired hotel for his father, when he sees a ghost, a ghost with a tragic backstory that she chooses to share with him.
Worthy - A canon divergence where Brienne goes back in time to stop Jaime’s maiming so he can fulfill a prophecy to defeat the Night King. Fun fact, this is the only canon fic I’ve written.
The Stoneheart Protocol - Brienne and Jaime are (space!) bounty hunters, but he’s disappeared. As the Stoneheart Protocol (shoot him on sight, basically) is authorized for him, Brienne goes on a desperate hunt to find him first.
5) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
J+B. It’s a Romeo and Juliet adaptation, and I struggled with the ending, because I felt that I had to remain true to the source material, even if I didn’t feel great about it, which is probably the reason the ending was so hard to write. It’s my only unhappy ending, and I have no plans to repeat that one. None at all.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
This is such a tricky one, because I love angst and sadness, even if I’m a stalwart believer in happy endings for JB, so even when a story works out, there’s always a twinge of sad to them too.
But, with that in mind, I might go with Saving Jaime Lannister for this one. They’re young, in love, and they have a lifetime ahead of them. They go through a lot in that fic, so they earn their sweet ending.
7) Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Not yet, but never say never.
8) Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I have dabbled in smut, but it’s not something I’m really comfortable doing. I don’t have a good grasp of writing sex and emotions, and that’s the best kind, so I mostly stay clear of it.
9) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do. Commenting takes a lot out of me (anxious introvert, party of one, right here), so I think it’s important to write back, even if it takes a little while. And really, that whole back and forth system on AO3 is the cheapest serotonin in existence.
10) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No, not yet. And hopefully it stays that way.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
As far as I know, no. Woo!
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
That would so cool, but no.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven’t, but it’s an interesting idea. Writing is such a solo thing for me, so it would be a challenge, but the good kind.
14) What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Stands to reason that it’s JB, because no other ships have inspired me to actually read/write fic to this degree. But here are some others from my life of shipping:
Jeff/Hillary - Remember Wenn
Adama/Roslin - BSG
Michael/Jan - The Office
Ned/Chuck - Pushing Daisies
Shepard/Garrus - Mass Effect
Jackson/April - Grey’s Anatomy
Kevin/Nora - The Leftovers
Sam/Jack - Stargate SG1
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Earlier this year, I rewatched “The Prince of Tides,” which I first saw when I was 12 or 13, and it was the first adult film that I loved. I absolutely hated the ending, so much so that for like seven years, I just ended the film early whenever I would watch it.
I had this idea for JB that wasn’t a PoT adaptation, because that’s too intense for my writing style, but more like Jaime was an actor trying to transform his image from hot dummy to serious actor. As a young actor, a upcoming band wrote a song, Hollywood Handsome [it’s a real song, and it’s great] about him as a beefcake with no brains, and the idea stuck in the public. He wants to use PoT to transform his public image, with B as his director (and eventual co-star).
It’s a good idea, but I lost the thread of it, and I probably won’t pick it back up anytime soon, if at all.
16) What are your writing strengths?
Focus I guess? I can take an idea, a voice in your head, or a planet that makes you see things, or space bounty hunters, and grind them down to their essentials components to tell a story. Good or bad, well that’s up to reader, but on the flip side of this, I’m also pretty good at spotting when a story is out of my control and walking away early.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Body/scenic descriptions. They are TORTURE. I don’t like reading them, and I hate writing them, so I try to avoid them as much as possible. Fanfic is so good for that, because mostly, I really just need to say the Jaime is hot, and Brienne has a rockin’ bod, and I’m done.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I probably wouldn’t try. I only know English, and I’m sure I’d absolutely butcher any other language I tried to implement.
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
AMC’s first TV show was a well-loved but little seen series called “Remember WENN” and it was the first TV show where I dived into online fandom. It was a great experience, even after AMC canceled the show (yes, still bitter about it). I wrote two fics for the show, and I think they are lost to the archives now, and the world is probably better off without them. But thinking back to the one I remember, my love of angst was apparent even back then.
20) What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
This is a tough one, but I narrowed it down to two, and I can’t decide from here, so here are my top two favorites:
Saving Jaime Lannister
Valyria
Tagging: This is a lot, so I’m not going to tag anybody, but if you’re reading this and you want to do it, go for it! It’s a lot of fun.
