Agency informant Izaya
The gun in Ango's hand is sent flying as a throwing knife slices through the air and cuts through it like butter.
"We won't be hurting Atsushi to help him remember." Says Izaya, a second knife in his hand. He sounds calm but the look in his eyes is cold.
Daring anyone to disagree with him.
No one does.
"Good, now Atsushi" he softens, wheeling himself over to him. "We have three options, and you can choose which path we take."
Izaya holds up a hand cutting him off "there are no wrong answers. I want you pick whatever is the most comfortable with you, can you do that for me?"
Atsushi nods.
The tense atmosphere in Anne's room starts to relax at his words.
There was no way in hell Izaya was going to allow anyone to hurt these brats, official Agency member or not they were his brats.
Ango's usual tactics weren't welcome here. That first knife throw was a warning shot, the next wouldn't miss.
"Option 1, we simply wait until you recover and remember naturally. Option 2 we talk about it to jog your memory." Izaya looked down, he didn't want to include this but knew he had to at least suggest it.
"Or option 3, I use my ability on you to get the information."
Atsushi looked down, thoughtful. Weighing up the options and trying to figure out which to take.
Despite the urgent situation, Izaya couldn't help the burst of pride in his chest.
"Option 3" is what Atsushi finally settled on. Izaya froze, he hadn't expected that at all. He was certain option 2, maybe even 1 but...
"Atsushi, you know I can't pinpoint which memories I see. Even if we start talking to jog your memory and I use my ability... I will see more than this." Says Izaya, serious and frantic.
Izaya's ability was much like Ango's, being able to obtain memories. But while Ango's worked on objects, Izaya's worked on people.
People have a lot more memories that objects do. Izaya had methods to find the information he needed.
But there was always a chance he'd see something you'd rather he didn't, because it wasn't precise.
It was an ability as flawed as its user.
But Atsushi just smiles at him. "I know, but I trust you." He says, eyes full of earnest and warmth.
Trust.
Maybe he had changed along the way, because someone trusted Izaya Orihara with their deepest darkest secrets
He almost laughed.
He almost cried.
And not for the first time Izaya questioned how he was allowed to know such wonderful people like Atsushi.
"I'm sorry...I will turn it off as soon as I find what we need. Nothing more nothing less." Promises Izaya and Atsushi smiles again. "I know, I trust you."
And fuck Izaya was definitely gonna cry after all this was over. And give Atsushi a long overdue hug.
Izaya took a deep breath, emptying his own mind and getting back on task. "Think about the conversation we had earlier, of the page. Only of the page and it's location."
He waits until Atsushi nods.
"Ability: Sunset's Last Applause." Says Izaya, glowing golden rings appearing in his eyes.
.... Oh he was definitely going to hug Atsushi. And possibly kill a few caretakers.

Shizaya week 2023
Day 2 Timeloop part 2 of 2
"Ah! Fuck!" Shizuo shot up in bed. "I can't do this. I can't do this again." He closed his eyes willing this nightmare to end. "Why is this happening?"
Tumblr media
A creaking sound drifted from Izaya's office. He got up and ran to see, praying to whatever God was listening that he wasn't too late, again.
"Izaya!" Shizuo found Izaya on a chair with a noose around his neck "Izaya stop!"
Tumblr media
Izaya looked at him with a smile. "Only you can make this stop."
"J-just tell me what to do." Shizuo stammered.
Izaya let out a laugh. "You already know." He then took a step off the chair.
Shizuo raced forward and grabbed him. "No, not this fucking time! I'm not losing you again!" He held Izaya tight. "You're never losing me either."
Tumblr media
Suddenly the rope broke and both went to the ground. Shizuo laying on top and still holding on.
"Look, I don't know why this is happening or if this will fix it but I'm never letting you go." Shizuo buried his face into Izaya's chest.
Izaya ran his fingers through Shizuo's hair. "Wake up."
Tumblr media
Shizuo shook his head. "No, I don't want to. I don't want to do this again."
"Wake up Shizuo." Izaya spoke louder.
"No!" Shizuo shouted.
"Wake up!" Izaya screamed at him.
Shizuo shot awake again and felt Izaya squirming in his arms. He refused to open his eyes.
Tumblr media
"Let go of me before I stab you!" Izaya yelled. "You're crushing me to death!" He pounded on Shizuo's back now.
Shizuo looked then to see he was still truly holding Izaya. "Flea?"
"Who else would it be!?" Izaya grumbled. "Wait, who the fuck are you expecting in bed with you?! I swear I'll kill you if you were dreaming ab-"
Shizuo flipped them over and straddled him. "You're ok." He whispered. He grabbed Izaya's face. "Oh God Izaya." Tears streamed down his face. "You're fucking ok. You're ok."
Tumblr media
Izaya starred up at him. "Shizuo? Of course I'm ok. What's wrong with you?"
Shizuo shook his head and pulled Izaya up into his arms. "It doesn't matter. Everything is perfect."
"Ok...." Izaya felt confused. "Do you... wanna talk about it."
Shizuo shook his head again. "The only thing you need to know, is that I'm never letting you out of my life. I love you. I love you so fucking much. I love you so much I would spend my entire lifetime making sure you know it and are safe an-"
"Shut up." Izaya felt his own face heat. "Just stop being so mushy! Can we go to sleep now?"
Shizuo nodded and gave a sniffle. "Only if we can wake up together."
Tumblr media
Izaya gave a snort. "Obviously."
After they settled down with Shizuo wrapping himself around him, Izaya took on a soft tone. One he only reserved for Shizuo. "If you want to talk about it, you know I'm right here."
Shizuo pulled him in tighter. "I know. It was just a bad dream. As long as your here in my arms when I wake up, I'll be fine." He kissed the back of Izaya's neck. "I always be fine."
Izaya gave a slight shudder. "Well, I guess getting up early to make breakfast is out of the question."
Shizuo felt a bite of panic. "W-wait."
"Nope. Never again will you get my delicious strawberry pancakes." He sighed dramatically. "It's such a shame, all those strawberries dying for nothing."
Shizuo then pinched Izaya's hip and smiled at Izaya's giggle. "Fucking dick. I love you."

“Oh, Shizu-chan~!” Was the ear grating sound that greeted the debt collector from an alley on his way home from work.
Brown eyes glared into red as he stopped and what little foot traffic was left on the streets vanished. “I thought I told you to stay the hell out of Ikebukuro, fucking flea.”
“Hmmm~ Just coming to collect from last Tuesday, Shizu-chan.” Izaya hummed from where he was leaning against the alley wall.
“You have my number for a reason, dumbass.” Shizuo snarled, looking around to make sure there weren’t any civilians stupid enough to still be in ear shot.
“You’re so much more fun when you’re pissed off, though. Now are you coming or not? I’m getting bored, Shizu-chan~” The brunette smirked.
‘This fuck bastard.’ The blonde felt a vein throbbing in his forehead. “And why would I give you what you want for being a bastard?”
“Where else is a brute like you supposed to get any?” Izaya laughed. “Who else is going to be kind enough to take pity on a protozoan like you?”
As if on cue, Shizuo’s patience snapped as he stalked past the brunette and grabbed him by the hood of his infuriating jacket to drag him away. Izaya smirked in triumph, but struggled for the effect of pissing the blonde off more.
“My point exactly, Shizu-chan.” He sighed as though the other was hopeless.
“Be happy I’m even giving you the dignity of dragging you back to my place instead instead of leaving you in the alley like the garbage you are.”
“Oh how kind,” Izaya laughed. “What’s this? The monster has an ounce of understanding about human kindness? It must be the end of the world, aye Shizu-chan~?”
“If I couldn’t feel the knife at my thigh, I swear to go I would kill you right now, stupid flea.”
They continued like this the few blocks back to Shizuo’s apartment and by the time the blonde literally threw the info broker through the open door, Shizuo was as pissed as Izaya had hoped.
Shizuo had a brief moment of realizing he had brought the flea to his house before brushing it off. This was one of the best info brokers in the whole of the underground in possibly multiple countries if the Russian was anything to go by. He could have easily met the blonde at his own door if he wanted.
“Let’s just hurry this up so I can throw you out.” Shizuo growled, beyond pissed as he undid his tie and worked on his vest. “Fucking flea.”
Izaya just grinned in a way that was supposed to appear innocent, but even he knew anyone would read as trouble. “What if I don’t want to anymore, Shizu-chan~? That was a pretty long walk after all.”
Shizuo stopped halfway through the buttons of his shirt to glare at the flea. “If you’re just wasting my time then get the fuck out. I’d much rather go to sleep.”
Izaya just snickered, unfazed by the glare he was shot. “Just kidding! I didn’t waste an hour just to piss you off and go home after all.” He hummed, tossing his jacket on the couch he had been thrown at.
“It wouldn’t be the first time, flea.” Shizuo huffed, finishing the buttons on his shirt.
‘Well my house, my rules. I’ll put the bastard in his place.’
“Hurry the hell up. The assholes today kept picking fights.”
“My my, awfully bold today aren’t we, Shizu-chan~!” Izaya hummed, throwing his shirt onto his jacket with his pants following quickly after. “Or maybe you actually want to fuck me today?”
Shizuo sneered in disgust as he got his belt off before he thought of something and held onto the belt as he tossed his pants off as well. “Not even if you were the last bastard alive. Now come on. My couch isn’t as big as yours.”
“Oooh~! I get to see Shizu-chan’s bed? How exciting!” The brunette laughed as he followed, toeing off his socks along the way.
“Shut up, stupid flea.” Shizuo growled, pointing to the bed. “Just lay down, bastard.”
Izaya, for once in his life, did as he was asked, though it still had as much dramatic flair as he normal as he bounced a little when he landed.
Shizuo just rolled his eyes as he dug around in his nightstand for lube before finally finding it and moving to hover over the flea.
They had set up a few rules when they ended up in this agreement. Kissing was fine, but no leaving noticeable marks. Avoid clawing if it could be helped otherwise don’t let it show. Cuddling depends on the mood. No knives involved unless pre-discussed. Lube always. Condoms depended on location since they were both clean. Listen to safe words always. No using kinks as blackmail. No letting it get out that this was happening, and lastly, no catching feelings.
Shizuo thought the last rule was stupid because fat chance, but he took advantage of the first rule now in order to distract the flea so he could follow through with his plan. He knew that was secretly Izaya’s favorite rule from how easily it shut him up, and he did just that when Shizuo leaned down and cut off whatever sarcastic comment was about to leave the brunette’s mouth.
While he had Izaya distracted, he moved his slim arms above his head and bound them to the slots in his head board with the belt. Shizuo was honestly shocked to find that Izaya didn’t even seem to notice, too caught up in receiving gentle affection for once in quite a while.
They really were touch starved weren’t they?
The flea’s lips were surprisingly soft so Shizuo decided to throw him a bone, giving the brunette a few more gentle kisses as he ran his fingers in his hair. Shizuo smirked into the kiss when Izaya seemed to realize the situation he was in and made a confused sound before nipping at Shizuo’s lip.
Shizuo leaned back with a chuckle. “Something wrong, flea?”
Izaya was pouting when he whined. “Shizu-chan~!”
“Somethin’ wrong, flea?”
“Why are my hands bound by your stupid belt?”
“Pretty sure this was on your Green List.” The blonde laughed, picking the lube back up to move down the brunette’s body. “‘S what you get for being a bastard. What? You have something to say about it?” He hummed, giving Izaya the chance to safe word if he needed to.
Izaya continued to pout, but didn’t safe word out. “You’re so mean, Shizu-chan.”
“Rich coming from you.” Shizuo shrugged as he lubed up his fingers before slipping one in.
“Ru- ah! Shizuuuu-chan~!” Izaya whined.
Shizuo just hummed in response, sounding unphased as he slid his finger in and out, drinking in the flea’s moans and whimpers.
It didn’t take very long for them to work up to two then three fingers, Shizuo making sure to spread Izaya open enough for neither to be too uncomfortable as the brunette continued to struggle with his restraints. He had this thing about clinging to Shizuo as much as possible, but with his knives left in the living room, it looked like that wouldn’t be happening tonight.
“Mmm~ Shizu-chan~ I’m good. You can stop prepping. Just get to the fucking part.” Izaya was panting, and that was probably the closest thing the blonde has heard to begging out of the smaller man since the drunken night that started this. Never will he ever trust a drink Shinra makes ever again.
“Which one of us is bound again? Really don’t think you’re in any position to be making demands.” Shizuo smirked as he lubed his cock now.
“What was that? The protozoan can think?! My what a mira-Ahhhh~ Shizu-chan~!”
Shizuo, in his annoyance, may have thrust in slightly more than he meant to but waited until he could see the flea was ready for him to move before moving any further. Once the brunette’s thighs started twitching, Shizuo inched in further little by little until he was eventually bottomed out.
“Ooooh~ Shizu-chan~ Full...Move, Shizu~”
‘He needed fucked that bad, huh? That has to be a record on him dropping the ‘chan’.’ Shizuo hummed as he gave a few shallow thrusts before properly doing what was asked of him, pulling out almost all the way before thrusting back in fully and picking up the pace as he went.
Izaya moaned loud, locking his ankles around Shizuo’s waist to try to get him as deep as possible. “Shizuuuu~ AhhhhAhhhh~ More~!”
‘He’s just as blunt in the bedroom as outside of it.’ Shizuo chuckled to himself as he leaned down to kiss the brunette again. He was slightly addicted to that part okay? For such a sharp tongue, Izaya had a really soft mouth and it was hard for him to hide any noises when they escaped right into the blonde’s mouth.
“Ha-Hey, flea? Do you ha-have any assignments tomorrow?” Shizuo panted into the smaller man’s mouth. He smirked when the other shook his head in response. “Perfect.” His stamina wasn’t just for chasing the flea after all.
Izaya looked up at the blonde in confusion before crying out when the blonde finally found his prostate  and continued to hit that spot almost every time once he did.
“AAAhhh~ ShizuuuUuu~! Ahhhh~!”
“Always so loud, Izaaaya.” Shizuo chuckles, drawing out the other’s name similarly to if he was chasing him around the streets.
This seemed to have an effect because Izaya shivered and his cock jumped.
“Like my voice like that, huh?” The blonde smirked.
“Release my hands so I can cOver your mouth.” Izaya glared at the blonde, trying to be as intimidating as possible with his arms bound, precum on his stomach, and a dick in his ass.
Yeah, not intimidating at all.
Shizuo just raised an eyebrow, giving him a chance to actually stop it but when all the brunette did was pout more he just redoubled his efforts instead.
Izaya tried to hide his face with a bound arm as he cried out, squeezing around the brute’s cock as he tried not to come too soon. He only outran the brute because he was fast, unlike Shizu-chan, stamina was not his forte and that was becoming embarrassingly obvious right now as his own dick practically drooled precum.
“Ahhhh~ Shizu~! Slow down~ Gunna cum!” Izaya whined into his arm.
Shizuo just responded by smearing the lube still left on his hand on Izaya’s cock and stroking it with his thrust.
“Shizuuuu~ N-AhhHhhh~!” Izaya came with a shout, splattering cum all over his abdomen before whining in overstimulation. “Shizuuuu…” He slurred.
Shizuo chuckled, pulling out to get a washcloth so the flea’s cum wouldn’t get on his comforter. After cleaning up a whining Izaya, he undid his belt from the headboard to help him rub circulation back into his wrists.
The brunette made contented noises before realizing Shizuo was still hard and eyeing the blonde’s dick suspiciously. “We’re not done are we, Shizu-chan?”
“Nope.” Shizuo hummed, popping the ‘p’ at the end.
Izaya groaned in annoyance. “Where do you want me, brute?”
Shizuo was honestly surprised Izaya even agreed to continue but thought about this for a moment. “All fours?”
“This is why you asked if I worked tomorrow.” Izaya muttered as he maneuvered himself into position, grabbing one of Shizuo’s pillows and putting it under his stomach. “Stupid, Shizu-chan and his stupid monster stamina.”
“I’ll choose to take that as a compliment,” Shizuo huffed, moving back behind Izaya to slide back in.
Izaya whined, still a little oversensitive, but the sooner they both finished the sooner he could use the over sized human heater so he just buried his face in Shizuo’s other pillow.
Shizuo didn’t really waste time taunting the brunette this time, knowing what he had planned would annoy him enough so just reapplied some lube and resumed the previous pace of fucking into the info broker hard and fast.
Izaya clawed at the pillow he was clutching, moaning into it whenever Shizuo found his prostate again.
Shizuo just kept it up, pulling Izaya’s head up by his hair a bit so he could hear the brunette’s sounds that he was blabbering into the pillow. “...Are you speaking Russian?”
Izaya flipped the blonde off from where he was still clutching the pillow, but didn’t stop his rambling even as Shizuo laughed.
“Fucked you so good you forgot Japanese, huh?” The blonde teased, a few grunts interrupting him as he neared his own climax. “Fuck....I’m close.”
Izaya muttered something in Russian that roughly translated to, “Then cum already.” Shizuo had no clue what the info broker said, but shit it sounded hot and Shizuo pulled out almost all the way and came hard, a decent amount dripping out of the informant’s hole as he did and more following him as he pulled out slowly.
Izaya apparently wasn’t as annoyed as Shizuo thought he would because a shiver wracked his small frame as he came again with a low moan.
‘Fuck, that’s kind of hot.’ Shizuo groaned as he collapsed next to the raven, reaching for the washcloth on the nightstand so Izaya wouldn’t have to lay in his own cum.
Izaya basically hissed in oversensitivity when Shizuo touched him, glaring at the blonde as he swiped the cloth. “No more touching until I’m ready to leech your body heat.”
Shizuo just smirked. “So you admit that you’re a leech.”
This just earned him the middle finger as the informant stubbornly used the walls and furniture to make his way to the bathroom.
“Stupid, Shizu-chan.”
“Back at ya, ya damn flea.” The blonde yawned, pushing the soiled blankets aside as he began to doze off.
Come morning he’d wake up to an armful of unnecessarily adorable informant and a crisis, but that was a problem for future Shizuo. Right now, he just wanted to sleep.

Hot take on Celty?
There was another ask for this as well but I have finally managed to verbalize these thoughts and I’m gonna go with the top one.
I’ve taken a shot in preparation to make sure this can match the energy of the Izaya ask (which I answered while shitfaced).
I tried so incredibly hard to like Celty, but the thing that has always stopped me is her relationship with Shinra. Obviously, immortal being/young adult ships are always a little dicey but I am totally willing to handwave it if they meet when they’re adults. When they met, Celty had the mind and body of an adult woman and Shinra was FOUR YEARS OLD. She then practically raised him, she was basically his live in nanny. And 20 years later they’re in a relationship.
Shinra is entirely dependent on her, as he probably always has been since she was his only consistent adult figure in his life from the ages 4-20 (note: for those who don’t know, 20 is the age of adulthood in Japan). And until he himself was an adult, he really don’t have much of a choice but to rely on her.
And (with a similar argument that I use to say why the yakuza targeting Izaya specifically rubs me the wrong way) Shinra doesn’t have parents who are consistently there or any other real support system until much later in life.
Now this could have been an interesting dynamic to deconstruct, which would have at least made me able to appreciate a well-done storyline. But it’s not. Because we aren’t really supposed to think that any of this is Celty’s fault. Whenever the relationship takes a turn for the unhealthy, it’s always Shinra’s fault. And before I continue, Shinra’s actions are his own. He does do things that make the relationship unhealthy and manipulate people around him, and those actions are on him. But maybe we should side eye the person who raised him. You know… his wife.
And this dynamic taints the scenes these two are in that are supposed to be funny. Because I can’t laugh when it’s them and the relationship makes my head hurt when I think about how fucked up it is. And she’s out here smacking him with the handlebar of her motor cycle or trapping him in a stupid shadow ball and all I’m thinking while I watch is “omg baby LEAVE HER”.
And the worst part is that I don’t even think Celty meant to groom him. Because her entire thing is hand waving consequences and overlooking the aspects of people that she finds inconvenient. Because Shizuo is a “good person” even though his job is to illegally kick the shit out of poor people who owe his boss money and he has severe anger issues that he really isn’t working to fix and that he always diverts blame onto outside factors. Izaya is a terrible person though, because he is heavily involved with the Yakuza, doesn’t really value people as people, and is extremely manipulative. All three of those things are fine when Shinra does it though, since Celty likes her ward/husband. And she met both of these men AS CHILDREN and apparently judged them accordingly right away since she never seems to mention any changes taking place or anything like that. She looked at a 12-14 year old Izaya, saw some signs of severe issues, and hand waved this boy as a “bad person” before he had managed to really do anything to earn that title.
I get that it’s about twisted love or whatever, and all of the flaws are to be like “oh Celty is just as human as the rest of them”… but did we really have to go THAT FAR? A lot of these issues would be lessened in my mind if the show would just… treat Celty as wrong on the occasion. But they don’t really challenge her worldview or call her out on predatory behaviors. And the fandom never discusses the issues with her and Shinra’s relationship outside of the context of “it’s always Shinra’s fault all the time”.

You’re my favorite Human (Yandere Izaya x F! Reader x Yandere Shizuo)
Before ANY of yall say anything, I wrote this as a birthday special to an online friend I once had. If Izaya and literally anybody else sounds OOC, it’s because this was written back in 2018/2019 after I watched Durarara!! For a bit of background info, I first watched Durarara!! back in middle school when a friend admitted to liking the anime and well I decided to watch too. This show was too complex for my small ass mind so I dropped it. Then I met my online friend (we are no longer friends) who would always comment on Quotev where I was most active at the time. Well, I literally only picked up this anime again for said friend and the birthday request. I wrote this immediately right after the show so if it sucks ass, there is a reason for it. Anyway’s I promise to give them justice if I manage to write my spooky Slasher AU’s for them. Also if you somehow end up managing which ‘slasher’ Shizuo and Izaya fit I’ll write you a special one-shot within my guidelines for your birthday/Christmas depending on the time constraint. Here you go, for the curious peeps!  This story branches off to two endings, Izaya ending w/ Smut and a Shizuo ending because I became a hardcore simp over that man and will literally do anything he tells me to. Regardless, I will edit the links and such for their appropriate endings! This story is also unedited so. . .have fun IG
ALSO THE READER IS A FEMALE BECAUSE THIS WAS A BIRTHDAY REQUEST THAT A CERTAIN SOMEONE DIDN’T LIKE SO YEAH FUCK THEM, BUT THEY WERE FEMALE AND WANTED THAT SO JUST REPLACE SHE/HER WITH THE PRONOUNS YOU FEEL MOST COMFORABLE WITH!!!!! I ALSO DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO WRITE BACK THEN SO YOU’RE A GENERIC MC WITH A STUTTER PROBABLY
God I sucked at writing fics so much back then. . .
"IZAYA!!"
The blonde man proceeded to pick up the red vending machine stationed outside a random building, preparing to lance it at the black-haired male he called Izaya.
"S-Shizuo!! It's not worth it!! Calm down!! Um- I know! I'll make some tea for you to calm down just please drop the vending machine!!"
"NO, I CAN'T! AFTER SEEING THIS PIECE OF SHIT I'M ALREADY FUMING WITH RAGE!"
"Shizuo!! Please!! Milk! Yep, milk will surely calm you down just please Shizuo!! You're attracting too much attention and you don't like violence right!!"
“Throw it Shizu-Chan. Or are you too weak to hold it anymore.”
"IZAYA!!!"
Shizuo turned away from the (h/c) individual as he began to grip a stop sign before removing it from the ground and began to run towards Izaya.
" Shizuo stop!! Geez, Izaya please refrain from edging him on! Shizuo don't give in! You're better, in fact, you want to be better!! You want to be stronger to have more control right!! Well. . . Don't give in!!"
At the sound of this Shizuo stopped before tossing the stop sign to the side and grabbing the (h/c) haired individual and dragging you off with him.
Looking back, the person Shizuo was dragging turned around to look back at Izaya before stopping in their tracks and bowing apologetically.
" I'm sorry Izaya for the commotion we caused, but I hope you understand that Shizuo is a bit difficult but I'm sure he can change! You too izaya, you seem to try to edge him on and that reflects poorly on you! So please Izaya, I hope you understand too!"
" Oi (Y/N), what are you apologizing for?"
Smiling softly at Izaya and giving him a shy wave (Y/N) turned to face Shizuo and continued to answer his question.
"Well, I mean I didn't stop him from edging you on!"
" I swear you really are the most optimistic, apologetic, and kindest person on this planet. You are one of a kind."
Laughing softly (Y/N)  turned to Shizuo as they began to reply, " Thank you! It means a lot to me Shizuo!"
Walking alongside Shizuo, (Y/N) proceeded to make small talk unaware of the lingering dark eyes upon her figure.
~~
"(Y/N), I swear I can't figure you out. No matter what you do or what happens you always apologize to everyone. Even that damn Izaya!"
"Well, Shizuo I like to be positive!! Besides, I'm sure second chances must be given!!"
" Hmph. Even those who commit the worst of crimes?"
"Well, I'm not the one entitled to forgive them for crimes committed against another, but I believe if someone truly wanted to, someone could change."
"Oh?"
" For example, you! I mean you've gotten several chances, haven't you? You have a stable job, although you can get quite violent, you have friends, and you are trying your hardest to change! So, I feel like anyone could change!!"
"Hmph. You forgot something. . ."
" I did?"
" Yeah, I also have the best person next to my side, you, (Y/N) (L/N)."
" I-I-I-I u-um S-sh!?"
" Heh, you get flustered all of a sudden and it suits your personality. I wonder how I got stuck with someone like you (Y/N). . ."
~~
Bodies were lying around Shizuo in the school field as he huffed in rage and looked to the side to see a (h/c) haired female with (e/c) eyes looking wide at the scene that laid before them.
" Hmph, what are you scared?"
Shizuo asked as he looked at the female before looking a bit confused as he noticed the expression on the girl changed. She was smiling and shook her head before answering his question.
" Nope! I mean what you did isn't good but I'm sure you have a reason! Besides, I feel like deep down you regret it. I mean, although you are pretty violent, you probably don't want to be right?"
"I... .hmph. Stop being odd and spouting nonsense."
As the female turned to the bodies she bowed apologetically and began to speak.
"I'm sorry! I apologize for his behavior! He doesn't mean it! He regrets it! Besides, you guys should know that violence isn't acceptable so please apologize for your actions as well! Fighting isn't acceptable!!"
"HUH? WHAT THE HELL? WHO THE HELL YOU APOLOGIZING TO?"
" W-w-well I am apologizing to them and you!! I mean you didn't mean too!! Besides, fighting is wrong! Both parties were at fault so I must apologize for it!"
" WHY THE HELL DO YOU WANT TO APOLOGIZE? YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!"
"W-w-well!! They are knocked out and can't speak, plus you won't apologize, you want to but you can't bring yourself to!!"
" OKAY BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?"
"I-I’M SORRY!! I DIDN'T MEAN TO BOTHER YOU BUT I THOUGHT THAT WELL I-?!"
"NOW WHY ARE YOU APOLOGIZING?!"
 "I'M SORRY! I DIDN'T MEAN TO-!?"
"STOP APOLOGIZING!"
"I'M SORRY! AHHH I KEEP DOING IT!"
"YEAH. NOW STOP!"
"I'M SORRY I'LL TRY! WAIT-"
"OH JUST SHUT UP!"
"I'M SOR-!?"
"STOP APOLOGIZING! GOD DAMN IT!"
"I CAN'T IT'S A HABIT!"
"Geez, troublesome woman."
" Ahhh!! What time is it?!"
"Why the hell are you asking me?"
"Crap I think I missed my train! Now I have to walk home! Wait, that's fine! I missed gym class to help the teachers so this will count for my exercise! Of course, I shouldn't feel down!"
" You're unusually optimistic. I'd be pissed as all hell if that happened."
"Well I think everything happens for a reason and besides, you need to see the bright side of everything! Anyway, I need to go! I have to walk for about maybe 2 hours till I arrive home and I do have homework to complete! I'm sorry for being a bother but I hope to see you tomorrow at school!"
"Wait."
 "Yeah?"
"Let me, let me walk you home alright."
"B-b-but!?"
"LISTEN IT'S MY FAULT YOU MISSED THE TRAIN SO LET ME WALK YOU HOME DAMN IT!"
"Ahh okay okay! I'm sorry for bothering you but thank you!!"
"Yeah, yeah just stop apologizing and don't start again."
"Alright! By the way, what's your name?"
" Shizuo Heiwajima. Yours?"
" (Y/N) (L/N)!"
As they began to walk side by side (Y/N) began to laugh as she asked Shizuo questions upon question leading to Shizuo answering them and laughing as he realized, maybe having someone not fear him, was a good feeling.
"Hey, Shizuo?"
"Yeah? What is it?"
" Wanna go for Russian sushi?"
Looking down at the girl Shizuo gave his usual smirk before responding happily.
" Sure, why not?"
~~
"Hey, Shizuo?"
" Yeah?"
Turning around he met with the female who became his best friend and possibly his crush. Smiling softly he turned to give her all of his attention despite the number of bodies surrounding him in the field of his high school.
"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to um, well. . ."
"SHIZUO! I have someone I would like to introduce you too!~"
" Huh?"
Shizuo replied in his usual tone as to be turned to meet the faces of the young boy with glasses, brown hair and grey eyes whom he quickly recognized as his friend Shinra Kishitani but the other boy, had dark hair and matching eyes he did not.
"What do you want Shinra?"
"Oh? Am I interrupting you and your girlfriend~"
"Girlfriend?! I-I-I’m j-just a friend!?"
Shizuo looked to the side but quickly locked eyes with the boy. Shinra looking at Shizuo quickly turned to introduce the other boy.
"His name is Izaya Orihara! He is in the same year and class as us!"
Upon looking at Izaya, Shizuo quickly launched an attack towards him before Izaya leaped out and grabbed his knife before slicing Shizuo across the abdomen. Shizuo looked down noticing the wound before looking back at Izaya.
"S-s-shizuo?! Are you okay? Oh, I'm so sorry this happened!!"
"(Y/N) it's fine and stop apologizing! You didn't do anything wrong! Besides, it was him, Izaya. . ."
"Oh? Come on Shizu-chan I haven't even done anything. . ."
"I'm sorry!! I apologize that Shizuo charged at you and hurt you! He tends to do that a lot, but I apologize on your behalf! Shizuo, I apologize that Izaya cut you! I'm sorry I couldn't stop him from cutting you and possibly distracted you. So please, violence is not the answer! Izaya and Shizuo I apologize and I hope you may make up and be best friends!!"
"Eh?"
"(Y/N) YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG! STOP APOLOGIZING FOR OUR MISTAKES!"
"I'm sorry! Ah, wait u-u-um well I know you both didn't mean it!!"
"Here we go again. . . (Y/N) STOP APOLOGIZING, ON TOP OF THAT TO THAT GUY!"
Shizuo was pointing at Izaya with a hint of disgust written across his face as Izaya looked dumbfounded for a split moment before asking, "Wait? You serious?"
"Huh?"
"Did you just apologize for something you didn't do?"
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to bother you!"
"I-, well it seems this took an interesting turn of events. Well, goodbye Shizu-chan, (Y/N) right?"
"Y-yeah. . ."
Shizuo stood in front holding his arm protectively (Y/N)  as Izaya twirled the pocket knife in his arms in a strange direction before smiling and whispering a small, “Interesting. . .”
As Izaya turned to leave, Shizuo muttered a small “ That bastard makes me so damn mad” before turning to (Y/N) realizing she had something to say before you were both rudely interrupted by Shinra.
“ Hey (Y/N) what did you want? You had something to say before that damn bastard arrived.”
“ O-Oh I-I did. . . um, Shizuo I wanted to ask if you wanted to miss the last train again and... .walk me home, and get Russian sushi with me. . .”
“ Is that your way of asking me out on a date?”
Teasing (Y/N) slightly she turned red upon hearing that before nodding her head softly. With a sigh, Shizuo smiled and dragged the smaller female by her arm before muttering a “ finally you asked” causing the female to turn even redder at the comment. (Y/N) ran a little ahead and turned back to smile at Shizuo before whispering “ I love you Shizuo. . .”
~~
Walking to the shared home that Shizuo and (Y/N) have, (Y/N) grabbed a small jug of milk before handing it to Shizuo scolding him for getting violent, but congratulating him on holding back and not letting Izaya get to him.
“ I don’t know what I would do without you (Y/N), I mean it . . .”
“ I’m just lucky this happened when we were walking together and not when you were working. Izaya can be a bit extreme but I’m sure he means well!!”
“Heh, you always look on the bright side, don’t you?”
“ Exactly!! Looking on the bright side is exactly what brought us together!! I mean after you dropped me off at my house we got to be great friends, that's also when you confided in me your secrets and feelings. Then you began to realize that I didn’t fear you and truly cared for you. Then we went on a date, and became a couple! Dating for a good 5, 6 years?”
“ Yep, luckily we still love each other.”
“ I won’t ever stop loving you Shizuo, because you accepted me for who I am. Now it’s time to let me accept you for who you are. . . I mean I already did but you can’t get it through that thick skull of yours can you?”
“ What do you mean, I understand.”
“ Yet, every time you encounter Izaya and I’m not around you come home quite sad and always ask me if I would ever leave you. Shizuo, I would never leave you.”
“ Well yeah but. . .”
“ But?”
“ You’re right. I should head to work. See you later (Y/N). Take care and don’t do anything strange.”
“ I wouldn’t do anything you wouldn’t do.”
“ That worries me.”
“ I’m just going to talk to Celty or just hang around the park! See you later Shizuo!”
“ Hmph. Later and don’t forget that I love you.”
“ I should be saying that but of course! Love you too and later!”
Shizuo smiled at the girl before heading off to visit Tom his friend and employer. They had another client that refused to pay up and Shizuo was going to “pay” him a visit to ensure he did. (Y/N) locked the door before going on her phone and texting Celty.
‘ You busy Cel?’
‘ No, not really. Why do you ask?’
`` I just wanted to see if you wanted to hang out and chat.’
‘ Sure. I’ll pick you up and we can head off to the park. That fine?’
``you read my mind Cel. Alright, I’ll get ready.’
(Y/N) changed into a new set of clothing before waiting on the couch for Celty to pick her up and head to the park. Celty and (Y/N) got along well as well, (Y/N) always saw the bright side. When she and celty were close enough, originally being introduced by Shinra, Celty confided in her about not having a head and (Y/N) offered some light on the subject.
“ Well, head or no head  I think you’re perfect just the way you are. For example, you can still do pretty much everything right? Aside from taste but still Celty! I think that is what makes you unique I mean, if you think about it, only those people who truly love and care for you will accept you no matter what. Take a look at Shizuo, he believed everyone feared him, but I didn’t. I love him! Just like I love you Celty! I accept you for who you are and you will always be celty with or without your head! So cheer up, I don’t like seeing my friends sad!”
With that, a new friendship was born leading (Y/N) to be best friends with the fearsome headless rider.

KANRA HAS JOINED THE CHAT
Kanra: Hey guys! I have a question about a specific person.
Setton: A person? Who?
TarouTanaka: Agreed. It’s quite rare to see you not having information on anyone.
Kanra: Precisely, which is why I must know. Do any of you know a (Y/N) (l/n)?
Setton: (Y/N)? Not personally but I’ve heard rumors. . .
Setton: There’s not much I know about her, but I’ve heard rumors of her being in the Dollars.
Setton: Besides that, I’ve also heard she’s Shizuo Heiwajima’s girlfriend and possibly future wife.
TarouTanaka: Shizuo Heiwajima? As in THE Shizuo Heiwajima? Do you know the violent one?
Kanra: That’s so scary!! Who would put up with him?
Kanra: *Gasps* you don’t think. . .
TarouTanaka: Think what?
Kanra: You don’t think she’s using him do you? I mean, having a strong boyfriend has its perks right?
Setton: She’s not that type of person.
Setton: From what I’ve heard, at least.
Kanra: Oh? You seem to get a bit defensive. Are you sure you don’t know her?
Kanra: I mean, think about it. What is so special about Shizuo that would lead someone like her to love him?
Kanra: Honestly, I think she could be using him after all I’m sure there are more people that someone like her could pick from.
Setton: Well everything is just based on rumors, but I doubt she’s a bad type of person.
Setton: Love has always been a confusing matter. All that matters is that they like each other for who they are.
Setton: It’s not our place to make assumptions.
Kanra: Love is indeed confusing.
TarouTanaka: I agree with Setton, I am sure they love each other for who they are. Is everything alright Kanra?
Kanra: Yes, but it still stumps me on how little information we have of his girlfriend. Not only that but we have little information on the relationship as well. Has anyone seen her? Know what she looks like?
Setton: I’ve only heard a vague description of her: (e/c) and (h/c). I could pass her on the street and not even know.
Setton: But I’m sure she’s just a private person. We should respect that and try not to dig into her life.
Kanra: Oh fair maiden will I ever see you?
TarouTanaka: You sure you aren’t trying to steal his girlfriend?
Kanra: ^ 0 ^ Never!
Setton: This has been an interesting discussion and all, but I’m needed elsewhere.
Setton: Later.

Kanra: Well I better head out too, later Tarou!
TarouTanaka: Later!

KANRA HAS LEFT THE CHAT.
TAROUTANAKA HAS LEFT THE CHAT.
THERE IS NO ONE IN THE CHAT.
A figure began to ponder and look outside with a pair of binoculars as a female with (e/c) and (h/c) walked by.
‘ Oh? I think I should properly introduce myself to the fair maiden’
~~
The young girl walked out of her house ready to speak with the dullahan. Upon seeing the headless rider the young girl waved her hand signaling the rider.
“ Celty! Over here!”
The rider began to make its way to the female before hugging and typing away on its phone.
“Oh good, I was worried I arrived too early.”
“ Nah! Even if you did, you would have more time to look around and notice life at it’s finest!”
“Oh Y/N, still as cheerful as ever, huh?”
“ Oh, you know it! Now let's head to the park! I want to see Ikebukuro at its prime time at night!”
“Of course, but as we’re walking let me ask: How’s it going between you and Shizuo?”
“ Well. . . I-I-I I think it’s going great! He isn’t getting as rowdy and violent so I think he is changing a little bit! He ended getting me a gift, a necklace to be exact for our 5th anniversary! It says his name! He also has one, one with my name!”
“I’m glad to hear you guys are going great. I’m sure that nothing could ever break your relationship, right?”
“ Exactly! He and I have never had a serious argument! Maybe a little scolding but it’s fine like this! I always end up congratulating him in the end! He is the sweetest! Every time he comes home he asks me if I love him which makes me sad because I hope he knows I do! However. . . he always ends up spoiling me in love! The real question. . . is how is it with Shinra?”
“Oh. . . Well, you know how he is. We’re as close as we can ever be, especially now that I’m more accustomed to the whole headless thing. That doesn’t mean I’m not looking, though.”
“ You will find it Celty! I know for a fact you will find it! I’ll help you when I have time! Hey look it’s the park let’s find a bench!”
[park bench scene]
“You know, Y/N, I heard that you and Shizuo were considering getting married. Is it true?”
“ Well, I-!?”
“ Well, Celty! I didn’t know you were here? (Y/N) too! What a surprise too! Do you mind if I sit with you guys?”
“ Well, not really! Feel free to sit Izaya!”
“ Interesting, now continue what were we talking about?”
“ Well, Celty asked about my marriage to Shizuo!”
“ So it’s true. . .”
“ Yeah! Celty we are! Sometime next week we were going to look for dresses!”
“That’s wonderful Y/N! If you need anything, I’m always available to help.”
“ Of course!”
“ Same here.  . . a wedding between Shizu-chan and (Y/N) seems interesting. . .”
“ So (Y/N), why are you with Shizu-chan? What’s the catch?”
“ Pardon Izaya?”
“ I mean, why would someone like YOU be with someone like HIM? What are the perks of having Shizu-chan as your boyfriend?”
“ Perks?!”
“I know that you and Shizuo have an on-going rivalry, but should you be asking Y/N questions like that?”
“ I was just curious Celty! Besides, do you have the answer?”
“ Well, there are no perks.”
“ Huh?”
“ I love Shizuo, not for his strength or perks. I love him because he was kind to me. He accepts my optimistic side, even though it can be quite annoying and I accept his violent tendencies! He is doing so much to change and I will support him from now on! When we met, he kinda beat the entire team on the field and I apologized for the both of him! He got confused and I apologized for my behavior and we kinda got into a mini battle of him asking me to stop apologizing and well my apologizing even more! Nonetheless, I missed the train, but it gave me a chance to talk to him and as you can tell he walked me home! Since then, a steady relationship! So it’s not about the benefits, it’s what we feel for each other that motivates us!”
“ Interesting. . . “
“ I agree Y/N, it’s about love, not benefits. Might want to save a speech that profounds for your wedding though.
“ You’re right! Oh, I’m sorry Izaya for ruining the surprise!”
‘ Interesting. . . she isn’t like every other human, she doesn’t seem to lie, hide things, and seems to be honest. She seems to be optimistic. Hmph, interesting that she isn’t like all the other humans I love, she’s different and I can’t wait to see her face, her entire being change as I pull the strings from behind! (Y/N), you are quite interesting, you are like my special, no my favorite human and I need to see your reactions to everything... .’
“ (Y/N)?”
“ Ah, Shizuo! O-over here!”
“ Celty’s here too and-?!”
Shizuo stared at the black-haired male with such anger raging within them as he let out a growl before examining the area.
“ IZAYA! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?!”
“ It’s a park? Am I not allowed to visit one?”
“ IT’S WHO YOU’RE WITH THAT MATTERS! (Y/N) DID HE TOUCH YOU OR HURT YOU IN ANY WAY?”
“ N-no! Shizuo we were only just talking! Besides, Celty was here with us! It was all friendly talk!”
“ Celty, take (Y/N) and go to Shinra’s place. I’ll meet you there once I finish killing this bastard!”
Typing away Celty nodded showing her phone with the message being, ‘Of course. Be careful before doing anything crazy, but please hear Y/N out first. Learn a bit about the situation before jumping into anything dangerous.”
“ Oh my Shizu-chan!~ So you are dating her. Isn’t that interesting. . . I say though it’s shocking, to say the least, that someone like (Y/N) would fall in love with you. Someone as fragile, beautiful, delicate, and forgiving like (Y/N) with a violent man as yourself, well I’d be damned!”
“ I’m sorry! Izaya, I apologize for Shizuo’s behavior as he ended up attacking you without hearing my part, which I still have yet to say! However, I apologize on your part as well Izaya as you didn’t mean anything by chatting with us, but you asked some not so nice things. On the bright side, you know the truth and know that Shizuo isn’t a bad person!”
“ (Y/N) . . .?”
“ Shizuo! Celty and I were chatting when Izaya approached us, we were just talking! He didn’t hurt me, besides Celty would have put him in his place before I would have! Please believe me, Celty tell him the truth as well!”
“Of course, there was nothing suspicious going on. Just a regular conversation full of small talk. Nothing shady or malicious between us and Izaya.”
“ Tch. Fine, but still take her to Shinra. I don’t want this bastard to find out where we live. I still want to kill him. . .”
“ S-Shizuo! It’s fine, we don’t need to go see Shinra!”
“ Aww, Shizu-chan you’re scaring her!~ Besides, what if (Y/N) doesn’t want to leave? You’re her boyfriend but you aren’t her owner. Besides, why do you get to keep her all to yourself, as you know I love humans, I can’t get enough of them! But she, she is quite interesting, as all humans I love her as well but aren’t you pushing it Shizuo chan?”
“ Keep that damn mouth of yours shut!”
“ I wonder, how long will it take you to screw up your relationship with her like you always do. Have you even proposed to her yet? Being the violent person you are you probably used someone's body as a foot stand before asking her to be your wife!”
“ NO! That’s wrong! He proposed at Russia Sushi! We went out to eat as it was also our first date! See, even Simon took the picture and hung it in the dining area! You can see Shizuo’s fist but that was because he was embarrassed Simon took a picture and well he snapped, see how red he is? I’m the one crying in the background while holding the ring! It’s even my lock and home screen!”
“ YOU DON’T NEED TO GO THAT FAR! WAIT-HE HAS IT HANGED? I NEED TO KILL THIS MAN FIRST THAN YOU DAMN IZAYA!”
“ NO NOT SIMON! WAIT SHIZUO!”
Running after Shizuo, (Y/N)  turned around one last time before bowing apologetically and smiling at Izaya before running after her fiance. Celty typing away on her phone showing it to Izaya.
“Be careful about what you say around Y/N. I know what you’re trying to do and I advise you against it. It won’t end well for either of you.”
“ Whatever do you mean Celty?”
“I’ve seen the way you look at Y/N; the way you observe her with that calculated glee in your eye. Even if you do separate her from Shizuo, she wouldn’t be happy with someone considered a homewrecker. She’s too optimistic for her good, she’ll easily forgive you, but she would never be able to forgive herself for hurting Shizuo. If you truly value her like you say you do, don’t try to meddle in her personal affairs.”
“ I want to see every possible reaction from her, so this is quite tempting. Besides, Celty why do you care much about her? I love humans and I’m not willing to share, (Y/N) is no exception.”
“Y/N is the best person I know. She’s kind no matter what and brings hope and joy to all of those that she comes across. She deserves to live the best life she can, one filled with no despair or tragedy. You need to learn to respect that and move on.”
Celty, displaying her anger towards Izaya, revved her motorcycle upwards causing several people to look in worry and walk away to avoid getting hit. Izaya stood unamused with his smug grin as he watched Celty chase after the couple to take them to Shinra.
“ Celty, it’s a shame. All humans will experience despair no matter what, even our darling (Y/N). It’s just how long will it take for her to fall into despair that’s the real game and who the one pulling the strings will be.”
Izaya began to walk away only to stop at Russia sushi and was quite intrigued by the photo that was taken. As he began to examine the image he saw (Y/N) smiling with tears rolling down her eyes as she turned to the camera holding the ring Shizuo had given her. On top of that, he saw Shizuo, quite red ready to punch Simon for taking the picture.
“ Well well, seems she was telling the truth. I guess he didn’t screw it up.”
“ Izaya, I heard about what happened.”
As Izaya turned he was met with Simon the dark-skinned Russian who began to speak in his native tongue signaling that this was a private conversation.
“ Simon, how’s it been?”
“ Don’t ruin it.”
“ Ruin what Simon?”
“ Shizuo and (Y/N) found happiness here so don’t ruin it.”
“ Oh? What makes you say that?”
“ (Y/N) is special, the unpredictable happens around her but that doesn’t mean you should ruin what they have for the sake of your entertainment.”
“ Special huh?”
“ You like her don’t you? Leave her with Shizuo, she is not meant for you.”
“ You see Simon, you’re right she is special but she isn’t Shizuo’s. I believe her to be one of the few people who aren’t on this playing field. She, like all humans, belongs to me. I won’t let Shizu-chan, Celty, or even that damn Saika blade have her.”
“ Izaya, I know you don’t like losing to Shizuo but that does not mean you have to ruin this relationship. For once, let it go.”
“ It’s Shizuo who needs to let her go.”
With that Izaya left the place before walking away thinking about the girl. Since he met her years ago he realized how forgiving and optimistic she truly was. It shocked him, every human he met would be the same and oh so predictable. Shizu-chan and Simon would be the unpredictable ones spicing up his entertainment but (Y/N)? She was the most unpredictable one of them all. She took both sides of an argument and attempted to find a solution and she would keep Shizuo in check something that no one could do. On top of that, (Y/N) forgave anyone and you could never guess what she would say next, but her actions were always surprising. As he entered his workplace he was met with Namie Yagiri who looked at him in disbelief.
“ It’s late where have you been?”
“ Ah, Namie I was out with Celty and (Y/N) (L/N).”
“ (Y/N) (L/N)?”
“ Shizuo Heiwajima’s girlfriend, well fiance but not for long.”
“ What do you mean, not for long?”
“ Well you see, I intend to steal her away.”
“ You never seem to bother with people’s love lives anyways. Why now?”
“ (Y/N) (L/N) is a fascinating human! Here on this board, Shizu-Chan is the king and (Y/N (L/N) would be his queen, but the queen is one of the few people with free-range movement, in other words, the most powerful piece, nonetheless all are useful but the queen is the one who defends her king. If the queen is removed you’re pretty much set to fail and the king is left weak and ready to be dethroned. So, Shizu-chan is only strong with his queen, but this fascinating human being should be next to me, her God!”
“ So you want to use her-!?”
“ No! You’re not getting the picture! I am going to take the queen and leave her next to her god’s side! ME! With Shizu-chan weak I’ll simply kill him and fully take (Y/N) (L/N) as mine!”
“ I thought Shizuo provided you with the most entertainment. . .”
“ (Y/N) makes up for both of them, I don’t need Shizuo when I have his queen. . .”
~~
“ Shizuo! Wait!”
Shizuo was walking faster while dragging (Y/N) behind him as they proceeded to go to their house after staying at Shinra’s.
“ What for?”
“ I’m sorry for embarrassing you in front of Izaya. . .”
“ I’m fine, as long as it was you I didn’t mind.”
“ You sure?”
“ Of course, now let’s go home. I’m tired.”
‘“O-Okay!”
As they entered the home in which they both own Shizuo immediately grabbed (Y/N) as he held her close before asking her yet again, “ Do you love me?”
“ Of course silly! I wouldn’t marry someone I don’t love! I love you to the moon and back Shizuo and I wouldn’t change that for the world! No one and nothing would ever split us apart Shizuo! You accepted me for who I am, now it’s time you realize that I accept you for you!”
Cuddling closer with the (h/c) hair colored female he blurted out something that made her turn red upon hearing it.
“ I want a baby.”
“ A WHAT?!”
“ A baby. I hope to be able to be a father once we wed.”
“ W-w-w-w-what g-g-g-gave you that idea?!”
“ We are both at a young age, once we marry I feel like we should have a child. I won’t rush or force you but I think we would be great parents.”
“I...OKAY! Of course! After we marry, we can have as many children as we can!”
“ W-Wait you serious?!”
“ Of course Shizuo, because I love you to bits! Just like I will love this child, I'll make sure you both know how special you are to me!”
“ I do wonder how I found someone like you (Y/N). . . I love you!”
“ I love you too Shizuo!”
As they both fell asleep in a lovers embrace Shizuo was reminded of how much (Y/N) loves him and was also reminded that she will never leave him. Izaya was wrong, (Y/N) loves him for himself and as Shizuo sighed in relief as he cuddled closer to the female, not being feared, but being loved was a great feeling, the best in the world.
~~
“ Now. . . what should I make for dinner? I should make Shizuo’s favorite meal, but that means that I need to go shopping. Oh well.”
(Y/N) pulled out her phone before sending Shizuo a quick text saying how she would be stepping out and would be home soon. After getting an, ‘alright. Be safe.’ text she immediately set out to the store. As (Y/N) was searching through the ingredients she came across a hand reaching for the same one, the last one.
“ Oh, I’m sorry! You can take it!”
“ No, no that fine! By all means, take it.”
“ Izaya... .?’
“ Ah! (Y/N)! Isn’t that wonderful? I wanted to speak to you!”
“ Same! Just let me finish shopping and I’ll go with you!”
“ Here! I’ll help, by the way! Feel free to take it, I don’t need that ingredient as much as you do.”
“ Thanks! Are you sure you don’t want it though, I’m making a meal for Shizuo but I can always go to other stores! If you want it you should take it! On the bright side, I can get my daily walk in by going to other stores and I might be able to browse through other items I may need!”
“ Oh? A meal for Shizu-chan? Then, by all means, take it. I wouldn’t want to make him upset.”
“ Thank you Izaya! You really care for him!”
“ Well, I wouldn’t say that. .  . “
“ Well, we should get going! I think I got everything I needed!”
Walking to the park in silence was a little awkward until (Y/N) lit up at the sight of ice cream.
“ Hey Izaya, look it’s an ice cream truck! Do you want some? My treat!”
“ Actually, it will be mine! Which one do you want (Y/N)?”
“ (F/F) please!”
“ Of course!”
Upon getting the ice cream ( Y/N) desired and Izaya getting one for himself they decided to sit on a bench and she continued speaking with Izaya.
“ Izaya, I have a question.”
“What is it (Y/N)?”
“ Well, why do you like edging Shizuo on? You know he is trying his hardest to change, wait, is it to push him? To see how much he needs to improve left?”
“ You really are optimistic aren’t you? Not exactly, you see Shizuo tends to act differently from the rest. . . he truly is unpredictable so I just want to see every possible reaction from him. Just like you?”
“ Me? I hardly think I'm unpredictable, I feel like you could read me easily.”
“ You can’t and that’s the best part. I truly love all humans (Y/N), they are just so interesting! In the end, they all act the same yet it’s so exciting!”
“ Interesting. You like the unpredictable more though right! I do too! It’s like a book, if you can predict the way it ends then it isn’t all the fun. However, if the book ends with a plot twist and catches you by surprise then it is fun! Every new day, every new day is something different for me! I feel like, when you look at a new angle you end up seeing things you’ve never seen. This could easily impact what you think or what you do! That’s what I try to do to make my day more interesting!”
Izaya looking at her with insanity swirling his eyes grabbed her hands causing her ice cream to fall before laughing.
“ You understand me! You see what I see! You truly do deserve to be next to your god's side! Tell me (Y/N), you’re very forgiving, aren’t you! Every god needs to judge and punish the sinners, BUT THEY ALSO NEED TO FORGIVE! THAT MY GODDESS IS WHERE YOU COME IN! WITH YOU BY MY SIDE, WE COULD TRULY RULE OVER THESE HUMANS! JUST AS I LOVE HUMANS, THEY SHOULD LOVE ME TOO! THAT INCLUDES YOU (Y/N), DO YOU LOVE ME?”
“ I-?!”
“ That’s enough!”
Turning to Celty who began to write furiously fast on her phone shoved it in front of Izaya as he skimmed the words that were written.
‘Shizuo is on his way, leave if you don’t want your ass kicked. I told you to leave (Y/N) alone! For once, listen to me!’
Celty grabbed (Y/N) and led her to the motorcycle before writing on it explaining that Shizuo was around the area and was planning on picking (Y/N) up from the store. Celty mentioned that she too was around the area and that she was asked by Shizuo to help him look for her as well. Nodding, (Y/N) turned around to meet Izaya smirking, despite all she smiled at him and bowed before apologizing.
“ I’m sorry Izaya! I hope to talk to you soon and I apologize our time was cut short. I’m happy that you told me a little about yourself Izaya as I told you I like to see both perspectives before saying or doing anything. On the bright side, although our time was cut short I realized that you trust me a little and bothered to open up a bit! So I'm glad!”
Indeed Izaya found his Goddess, she forgave all and will forgive all. Smiling a bit he turned and wished her good-bye before plotting a plan to take her from Shizuo forever and make sure his goddess was with him all the time. Besides, even if he committed a crime, his goddess, (Y/N) (L/N) would forgive him.
(Y/N) was riding with Celty until they found Shizuo in which he expressed his concern for the female. He examined the ingredients and smiled realizing what she was planning on doing before ruffling her hair.
“ I still have a little bit of work left but I'll make it home in time for dinner.”
“ Of course! I’ll get started on dinner right away!”
“ Alright. See you then, oh (Y/N).”
“ Yeah?”
“ I love you.”
“ I love you too!”
~~
Getting out of the shower, (Y/N) proceeded to dry her hair with a small towel wearing (F/C) shorts and an extremely overgrown shirt, more importantly, it was Shizuo’s bartender shirt that he allowed her to wear. It fit more like a dress but no one was complaining.
“ I better get started on dinner, Shizuo is going to arrive any minute!”
Proceeding to get the ingredients (Y/N) was washing the vegetables when she heard a click signaling the door was open.
“ Shizuo I’m not done with the meal-... Shizuo... .?”
Examining the living room she noticed that the door was opened but no one was in the room with her, that was until she heard a familiar voice from her right ear.
“ Good evening, My goddess. . .”
“Iza-!?”
With that Izaya knocked out (Y/N) cradling her in his arms before making his way to him home with the young girl, his Goddess.
“ Wake up sleeping beauty~”
Izaya was poking her cheek repeatedly hoping for the young girl to awaken sometime soon and luckily she did.
“ Izaya, w-where a-am I?”
“ Why you’re in our home my goddess~”
“O-our? Goddess? Izaya what’s going on?”
“ You will be living with me from now on~ You see I explained it to you, I love humans my dear (Y/N), you are no exception. However, unlike all the other humans you have an interesting personality and you are quite unpredictable making each new day exciting and something to look forward to! Someone like you should be by my side ruling alongside next to me! Just as I adore humans, they should adore us, as they should!”
“ I-Izaya I’m sorry but it’s late and I need to get to Shizuo before it gets too late-!?”
“ You aren’t getting it! You aren’t going back to Shizuo! You belong to me! Besides, Shizuo is weak right now! I could easily get rid of him!”
“ He isn’t! Shizuo is quite strong! I know for a fact that he can overcome anything! Now, please let me go before I-!?”
“ You aren’t seeing the big picture (Y/N) and it saddens me. You see the queen is the strongest piece in chess. Shizu-chan is the king and you by right, are his queen. If we take the queen away, the king is set up to fail. Haven’t you realized, everyday Shizu-chan asks you if you love him and to never leave him? Coincidence I know? I always make him doubt of this reality because without you Shizu-chan would be a violent monster! Think about it, you’re the only thing that can hold him back but you aren’t by his side! Shizu-chan does not want to be feared but he thinks it’s a fantasy, someone like you being in his life that he just needs to confirm if you love him too!”
(Y/N) gasped when she came to notice her fiance's true feelings. Feeling down, (Y/N) looked to the side to examine the board Izaya kept close to see if she could find a pattern or attempt to figure Izaya out to create a plan.
“ In fact! I think he is worried sick trying to find you, but he won’t! Even if he does, he doesn’t have the right to take my Goddess away!”
In the meantime, Shizuo was frantically searching for where (Y/N) could be. When he arrived home he came to see the door open and no sign of (Y/N) causing his anxiety to spike up at the thought of losing you forever. Having enough he texted Celty and even the dollars home page alerting all members to keep an eye out on a female with (H/C) and (E/C) as she could be in danger.
“ Celty! Have you found her yet?”
“ No.... but I think I know where she is. I hope she isn’t though. . . “
“ Spit it out! WHERE THE HELL IS SHE?!”
Shizuo was running out of breath as he looked at Celty with desperation as he saw her type away with incredible speed, but the answer both shook him and angered him to the point of no return.
“ I think she is with Izaya. If so, we must hurry!”
“ Of course! Leave this to me. . . I think it’s time that bastard met with his fate.”
Shizuo walked away with anger as he began to prepare his fist to execute the man who stole his fiance.

The Cycle of Temptation
If me busting out a fic in time for Izaya’s birthday doesn’t show how much I love him, nothing else will.
Izaya’s impeccable aim was not limited to knives, it seemed, as the ball of fabric hit its target straight on. The target being Shizuo Heiwajima’s face, of course.
Izaya cackled at the dull smack his coat made. “Hahaha! Where are those monster instincts of yours, Shizu-chan?” He taunted with a grin from where he was perched on the roof of a small bakery. Standing above the crowd and backlit by the sun, he almost appeared like an angel descending from the heavens. A kind hand granting humans salvation from their sins as if he hadn’t been the snake tempting them into depravity in the first place.
And poor Shizuo couldn’t help but chase the forbidden fruit.
From below, he skidded to a stop and ripped the jacket away with a snarl. His cheeks were tinged red with rage and what Izaya could bet was embarrassment. “Izaya, you bastard!” His gripped the jacket in a trembling fist before his face lit up with inspiration. What kind of thing the protozoan thought up, Izaya couldn’t say, but it was sure to be undoubtedly stupid. “Get down here so I can strangle you with this shitty coat!”
There was a beat of silence.
Ah, I was right, Izaya thought to himself. That is stupid.
“Eh? Are you five?” He drawled patronisingly, lips quirked on a pitying smile. “You have to work hard for what you want~” And with that, he was off again, running and jumping around like the flea Shizuo claimed he was.
The chase went on for another few minutes-leaving an impressive level of property damage in its wake-before it came to a standstill once again. At Izaya’s unspoken command, of course. They were in an alley now, shadowed from the sun and out of the way of any one who might intervene. Not that anyone was stupid enough to try. Their squabbles were frequent enough for most people to continue on their way without a second glance. They’d catch their trains and go to work and return to their everyday lives.
Just as Izaya was living his.
“It seems you’ve caught me, Shizu-chan! Whatever shall I do~” Izaya purred, turning around to face his pursuer with open arms. Shizuo was just as-if not more-pissed off as he’d been a few minutes prior, and surprisingly, still had Izaya’s jacket clutched in his left hand.
Izaya blinked. He hadn’t expected Shizuo to actually hang onto it.
“Oh? You still have that? Don’t tell me Shizu-chan is one of those people who gets off on sniffing clothes,” Izaya laughed, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning back on his heels.
“Shut up! I’ll kill you!” Shizuo shot back, but there was no denying the blush coloring the tips of his ears. He stomped forward, fists clenched at his sides, until he came face to face with the most infuriating man on the planet. “I’ll kill you,” he repeated, voice softer. Perhaps now that he was actually faced with the decision, his brain took a turn, because instead of wrapping the coat around Izaya’s neck as a makeshift noose and killing him once and for all, he turned Izaya around and pushed him up against the wall.
He breathed harshly against the back of Izaya’s neck, all the while Izaya grinned like the cat who got the cream. “Oh? Like this, it almost seems like you’re more interested in a little death than a murder,” Izaya purred, voice as smooth and silky as the prize. His palms pressed against the rough surface of the wall, bracing himself for what was to come. Teeth digging into flesh, strong hands pressing bruises into his hips. The thought had his lashes dipping with want.
Shizuo grunted behind him, still for a moment. Izaya could feel his warm breath fanning across his nape, and his skin prickled in anticipation. It was strange for Shizuo to hesitate like this. He was a man who ran purely on instinct-acting first and facing the repercussions later. And they were far past the point of caring about repercussions.
He grabbed Izaya’s wrists suddenly, pulling them together behind Izaya’s back and tying the sleeve of the jacket around them. Izaya blinked, obviously surprised, but he hardly seemed to mind even as his cheek pressed into the wall. “Ha, who knew Shizu-chan was into this kind of thing?” He purred with a snicker. It was a tight bind, but he knew by now that if Shizuo really wanted to hurt him, he’d be dead.
“You’re a piece of shit, you know that?” Shizuo grumbled into his ear, leaning in oh so close. His voice was impossibly deep, more of a growl than anything, and it shook Izaya to the core.
Izaya smirked. Even as vulnerable as he was, he still teased and taunted, hoping to push Shizuo into action. To make him bite the apple. “What are you gonna do about it?”
This time, it was Shizuo’s turn to grin. Animalistic and wild in the way Izaya loved. “This.” Strong hands latched onto Izaya’s sides and squeezed with just enough pressure to make him want to crawl out of his skin. Izaya’s eyes widened in realization, and he started struggling to get away. However, he was literally caught between a rock and a hard place. There was no way to squirm free, pressed against the wall as he was.
“Uwahaha! Y-you monster! Nahahahaha!” Giggles burst past his lips as Shizuo pinched up and down his sides, tweaking at his ribs every so often to make him jump. His hands flexed uselessly behind his back as he tried to stop the attack, but every time he twisted to one side, the other would be targeted. “No! This isn’t what I wahahanted, you protozoan!”
In all honesty, Izaya had expected less humiliation and more making out. And Shizuo, the bastard, probably knew it too.
“Yeah? Well, I didn’t want to have to chase you out of my city today, so I guess we’re both out of luck,” he countered with a cruel grin, hooking his chin over Izaya’s shoulder and pulling him close against his chest.
Venturing fingers explored further and found their way under the hem of Izaya’s shirt, teasing and tickling the soft skin of his belly. “Ah! No, no, nahahaha!” Izaya squirmed frantically, throwing his head back with the force of his laughter. His muscles jumped with each brush of calloused fingers, but with his arms bound and his body held steady in the grip of the beast, there was no reprieve.
Shizuo chuckled at the way Izaya bounced and jerked and danced around, jumping from one foot to the other in his futile attempts to wiggle free. He seemed to take particular joy in the squeal Izaya let out when he scritched at his belly button; it was loud and embarrassing and promptly followed up by a stream of high pitched giggles that were far too innocent to be coming from a man like Izaya.
“Fahahaha! I’ll-! I’ll kihihihill you! Stahahahap!” Izaya gasped out a curse when Shizuo pressed into an especially sensitive patch of nerves on the side of his stomach. He was practically folding in on himself, knees jerking up to protect his midsection before he lost his balance and had to steady himself again.
His legs were growing weak-from the struggling or from the tickling itself, Izaya didn’t know. Nor did he want to. It was mortifying enough that he had let himself be caught  in this situation in the first place. Being tickled like this in public, by Shizuo no less… it would take awhile for his pride to recover.
For how often Izaya was seen as the sadist, Shizuo showed little mercy as he skillfully honed in on the spots that prompted the strongest reactions. He massaged his fingers into the soft give of Izaya’s lower belly and was rewarded with loud frantic laughter and desperate squirming. Tracing along the sensitive rim of his navel earned him squeaks and giggles and lips stretched in a helpless grin.
It was only when Izaya’s laughter became wheezy and his lashes wet with tears that Shizuo finally relented.
Izaya sagged in his arms, residual giggles falling from his lips and shaking his sore shoulders as he tried to catch his breath. His legs felt like jelly, and he was sure he’d crumble to the ground if not for Shizuo’s steady hands holding him up. Those deceptively brutish hands...
Shizuo could be surprisingly gentle at times despite his inhuman strength. While Izaya loved the way Shizuo could lift him and hold him up against a wall for hours on end during their late night trysts, there were times when his touch was so light Izaya could barely feel it at all. A comforting brush up his thigh, a careful touch on his cheek. Nothing like the violence and destruction that came from his clenched fists.
Shizuo could be gentle.
But Izaya would prefer broken bones over this torture any day.
With his breathing now somewhat even, Izaya looked over his shoulder to level Shizuo with the most aggrieved glare he could muster. “Shizu-chan…,” He murmured, voice low on irritation as he tugged on his still bound arms.
Shizuo-who had been sporting an oddly soft smile-chuckled and set about untying the knot he’d created with the coat’s sleeve. “I take it we’re not heading back to my place this time?”
Incredulous and more than a little outraged, Izaya reeled back, mouth already forming around a barrage of insults before he paused. His expression evened out then, any trace of annoyance leaving his face in an instant. But what replaced it was not kind or understanding. It was wicked, mischievous, a red light flashing danger. And the words that he spoke as he rolled his shoulders and held up the wrinkled coat sent an uneasiness down Shizuo’s spine that almost seemed to seep into his bones.
However, with the uneasiness came a certain excitement, a thrill.
“We should go. Since Shizu-chan seems to like this so much, it’s only fair he gets to experience it as well, right~?”

Laughter Warms The Soul
Notes: I wrote this in an hour, what the fuck brain, where did these random ideas come from??
Summary: Whilst searching for amusement in the city, Izaya stumbles across the dynamic duo and finds himself witness to a sight he’d thought he’d never see.
Izaya’s grin was wide with the expectation of entertainment as he weaved in-between the busy streets of Ikebukuro. He could tell it was going to be a good day. It was difficult to explain exactly where this premonition came from, only that he was certain of it.
Possibly it had something to do with Namie’s mysterious absence that morning, unexplained and prompt and full of a mystery to be explored later. Possibly it had to do with the sun, sparkling and bright despite the chilly autumn morning. Possibly it had something to do with the sudden sight of Shizuo, far down the street opposite Izaya. No matter what the reason, Izaya decided to take the good mood and roll with it, his legs already moving him across the street to confront the other.
He paused almost as suddenly as he had started, taking a step back onto the pavement as he noticed Tom by his side. The man had his arms wrapped around himself, shivering despite his coat. He was saying something to the other, and Izaya attempted to maneuver his way closer without giving away his position. He couldn’t say why he took the effort for the stealth; after all, it had originally been his mission to torment the beast in some way. It wasn’t often, however, that he got to see Shizuo from a casual stance, and he was curious what the man was like when he wasn’t raging at the info broker.
“…fucking cold,” Tom was saying, his voice twisting in irritation. “Why can’t it have just stayed summer through the rest of the year too?”
Besides him, Shizuo arched a brow in amused surprise. “I don’t think either of us would want to face the effects that would have on the world, what with global warming on the rise and all that.”
“Fuck global warming,” Tom muttered, shoving his hands into his pockets. “And fuck cold ass mornings like this that we have to wake up for because some idiot decided he didn’t want to pay his dues.”
“Careful Tom,” Shizuo warned lightly. “I’m supposed to be the one with anger issues, remember?”
“Yes, of course I remember,” Tom snapped, seemingly not aware of the fact that he was taunting a lion. “How could I forget when it makes my workload ten times more difficult every time some hopeless bastard pisses you off.”
Hiding behind a group of tourists, Izaya winced in second-hand regret. Bad move, Tom. Didn’t he know who he was dealing with? Izaya had experienced entire vending machines thrown at him for far less than the direct insult. Sure enough, Shizuo turned to face the other, his arms already coming up to ready an attack. Izaya closed his eyes, biding Tom farewell in his mind as he did.
To his surprise, the next noise he heard was not that of pain or fear, but rather laughter, choked off giggles that cut through the morning breeze. Izaya frowned, eyes snapping open once more as he shot a quick glance in their direction.
Shizuo had snuck his hands under Tom’s coat, and was wiggling his fingers along his sides with devilish intent. Tom was half-doubled over, shoving weakly at Shizuo’s arms but doing little in the long run to dissuade him. Shizuo had a slight smirk on his face, the expression somehow both smug and affectionate at the same time.
Izaya’s eyes widened.
“S-Shihizuo!” Tom gasped, his lips tugging up into a reluctant grin. “Wahahait! T-Thihis ihisn’t fahahair!”
“It’s perfectly fair,” Shizuo argued pleasantly. “If you have a problem with the way I do things, there are other ways of telling me than snide remarks. This is simply your punishment—both for the insult and for the way you’ve been complaining all morning.”
Tom desperately shoved at his hands, trembling in one spot as he fought to hold himself upright. They had both stopped walking by now, and people merely curved around them, seemingly ignorant to the truth of the situation. Tom’s cheeks puffed out with held-in laughter, flushing a bright pink with the effort.
“You know, it’s strange,” Shizuo commented, his fingers crawling spiderlike onto his ribs. Tom squeaked, lurching forward, but the other’s hands held him back in a ticklish hug. “I’d almost forgotten how sensitive you were; it’s been a while since I last did this. I think we should make it more of a habit, don’t you?”
“Y-Yohohou’re dehehead!” Tom giggled, his internal battle to hold in his reactions ultimately failing. “S-Sohoho dehehehead!”
“Funny, because the way I see it, there’s nothing you can do about it.”
“Stahahahap!” Tom wheezed, squirming as much as he could in his grip. “Gohohoddammit, ihihit fuhuhuhucking tihihihickles!”
“Does it?” Shizuo grinned. “I hadn’t noticed.”
“Ohohoho fuhuhuhuck yohohou!”
Izaya was frozen. People shoved past him, but he could hardly find it in himself to care as shoulders and elbows jostled into him, his gaze focused so intently on the scene in front of him. Tickling. The monster of Ikebukuro, the brute who had tormented him for all these years, was currently tickling Tom Tanaka of all people, in the public view of anyone who happened to pass by. And Tom wasn’t running away, or shoving him off like most might expect. If anything, he seemed to be enjoying himself, his laughter mingling with the amused chuckles of Shizuo.
But what threw Izaya the most, above anything else, was the gentle way in which Shizuo did it. His posture was relaxed, not tense with annoyance or rage. His fingers climbed a gentle path up and down Tom’s sides, drawing only musical giggles from the other’s lips, instead of noises of panic or discomfort. Izaya waited for his ribcage to be crushed beneath Shizuo’s grip, for angered shouts to fall from his lips. Despite this, only that slight smile remained, and those devastatingly nimble fingers wreaking a path of soft destruction along his torso instead of the usual bloodshed.
So lost was he in his thoughts, that he found himself jumping at the sudden shriek. Shizuo had managed to worm his hands under Tom’s arms, and the man dropped, his knees giving out underneath him. Shizuo merely followed him to the ground, eagerly pursuing the apparent hot spot.
“Shihihihihizuo!” Tom cackled, squeezing his eyes shut as his arms clamped down quickly to his sides. “Plehehehehease!”
“I don’t know,” Shizuo mused, feigning hesitation. “I mean, how can I know for sure if you’ve learned your lesson?”
“Ihihihihihi hahahahave, Ihihihi hahahahahahave!” Tom insisted quickly, curling his knees up to his chest. “Juhuhuhuhust stahahahahahap!”
Shizuo sighed, relenting at last and releasing the other. “Alright. But only because we’re going to be late if we stay here any longer.”
Tom giggled in tired relief, burying his face in his hands. “You suck. You suck so much.”
“Yeah, yeah. C’mon, let’s get you up off the ground.”
Shizuo helped the other man to his feet, and Tom dusted the grime off his pants with a disdainful look. “That was entirely unnecessary, you know.”
“Your cheeks.”
“What?”
“They’re all red.” When Tom continued to stare at him in confusion, he clarified, “You were complaining about being cold. I bet that warmed you up.”
Tom started as he realized the other was right; all the laughing and squirming had sent blood rushing quickly to his limbs, heating up the chill that had seeped in. He narrowed his eyes in annoyance at the other’s accuracy, shoving past him with a huff. “Whatever. You’re such a nuisance sometimes, you know that?”
Shizuo laughed, shoving his hands into his pockets and following after him.
Izaya waited until they were gone to move from his position, his pulse racing. What was that? What the hell was that? And why was it making him feel so… Izaya wasn’t even sure what the specific emotion was. Irritation? Panic? Loneliness? Possibly the strangest one of them all was the vicious jealousy, tugging at his heart and making it clench up uncomfortably. Because maybe a part of him, however small, had wished that he could have been the one under Shizuo’s hands. Maybe he too wanted to be able to laugh like that, free and unworried, and have the brute look down at him with that unfairly kind smile of his.
Shoving the thoughts aside quickly, Izaya turned on his heel and headed in the opposite direction, attempting to ignore the persistent flush to his cheeks.
After all, he could always find entertainment elsewhere.

Yandere! Izaya x Shy!Timid! Reader x Yandere! Shizou: Home arrangment.
Sometimes you wondered if his sudden interest in you had only occurred because Shizou liked you. Of Course you were aware, despite what everyone else thought. How could you have not said anything, unless you didn’t know? You had to be clueless. But even if you knew, what were you supposed to say, then? It was mean to let their rivalry intensify, but it’s not like you could just tell them to stop. And on top of that, you were not really interested in either of them. Your shy nature kept you from admitting it, though. You were scared of both their reactions. Neither of them were well known for their tact when it came to each other, and not getting their way.
That’s why it was such a bother that Izaya always seemed to know where you were at any given time. It was almost like he knew your work schedule better than you did, so when he appeared besides you one late evening walking home it didn’t surprise you at all. To be fair, you felt a lot safer walking home with him, even if you didn’t willingly choose to do so. Sometimes it did feel like you were using them, and leading them on. But it really wasn’t your intentions. You were just too shy to say anything to them about your lack of interest.
You were ripped from your thoughts suddenly, when Izaya grabbed your arm and pointed excitingly towards his favourite sushi place. “Hey, we should stop for sushi. Aren’t you tired after work?” He asked, his question very leading. You nodded, still a bit lost in thought. Really what you wanted was to go home and make instant noodles and then just collapse on your couch, but you didn’t have the guts to fight Izaya on it. Besides, you’d eat anything right now. He seems pleased with your quick surrender. Grabbing your hand, he greets someone outside the establishment and then heads inside with you. You and him have been here before, and you understand his fondness. The food is really good.
You want to get out of the way, knowing that just sitting next to Izaya is a death sentence. Softly trying to squeeze your way to the other side of the table, you’re quickly apprehended by Izaya who is trying to use you as a shield, hoping (or knowing) Shizou won’t try to punch him through you. But Shizou just crosses his arms, looking sternly at Izaya before speaking. “It’s not your week to have them.” He simply states. You turn to look at Izaya behind you, confused as to what he means, but Izaya doesn’t seem confused either. “So, I was just supposed to leave them alone while you work? What does it matter to you anyways if you’re not able to be with them?” Izaya retorts.
You’re sitting there happily eating, listening to him go on about a client he had that day when suddenly the comfy and quiet atmosphere is broken when you hear Shizuo's deep voice address someone somewhere in the restaurant. You can tell [he] notices it too, cause he gets that suspiciously pleased smile on his face. He notices your uncomfortable face, as you look at him pleadingly. He knows you’re asking him not to cause a scene. But you know he can’t help himself. He looks like he is thinking for a split second, but then his face turns back up into a smile as he leans over to whisper to you. “I’m sorry, but you know I have to prove to him who you belong to.” You want to protest that you belong to neither of them, but before you can he is laughing loudly in a very fake way, trying to obviously attract attention.
“You’re so cute!” He shouts towards you, putting an arm around you and leaning further into you. There is a short suspicious silence as he smiles mishiefiously up at you, knowing that he is about to cause a scene. The silence is nice, and you wish you could have it eternally, because when it ends you know what is going to happen. Then the silence finally breaks as you hear heavy and rushed footsteps making its way to where you are sitting. You see his feet standing there, right in front of you and Izayas table. There is a small shake in his body, and you can tell he is furious.
“W-what do you mean?” You manage to ask meekly, trying to decipher their conversation. Finally Shizuo seems to notice you, but instead of explaining what is going on he simply grabs your arm (harshly, but knowing his strength it’s probably meant to be softly) and drags you to him, hugging you close to him. Izaya seems surprised, and a bit displeased despite him being the one to instigate the reaction. “Hey, hey! We were on a dinner date, you can’t just take them.”
Shizou takes your hand and drags you away, ignoring Izayas protest. You’re dragged out of the restaurant, towards Shizous apartment. Too scared to say anything, and too confused, you simply follow him. You can hear him mumbling angrily to himself, before saying screw it and dragging you faster. “If he can break the rules, so can I.”
You’re slowly starting to piece together the gist of your situation. It all made sense. Certain weeks you would not see Shizou at all, and other weeks Izaya would try to make himself less visible. With their relationship you were kind of proud that they managed to even come to an agreement, you were just scared that it had to be at the expense of them thinking they owned you. Quietly, you slid your hand out of Shizous, making him stop to look at you. Maybe he didn’t even realize that he had been speaking out loud.
“Shizou, I think I would like to go home.” You try, testing the waters. He looks at you with such fondness, you’re starting to get scared. “Yeah, sorry. I was lost in thought.” He explains. You take a step back instinctively, but he grabs your hand again and starts walking with you in the same direction as before. You’re getting farther from your home, but you can’t get yourself to say anything. You can’t even get yourself to stop when he drags you into an apartment, and he closes the door behind you.
“Welcome home.”

Wake up and Tap the Matt
"Izaya..." Shizuo whispered softly. "C'mon flea.... it's time to wake up."
Izaya curled tight into the bed. A soft groan of disapproval rolled from his lips. "Ugnnn not yet."
Shizuo chuckled softly. "C'mon." He trailed his fingernails lightly against Izaya's bare back. "You're gonna be late."
Izaya only curled tighter. "Stop it Shizu-chan." He growled quietly into his pillow. "I don't want to."
Shizuo trailed his fingers along his spine. Izaya could feel him counting each rivet, the nails dancing here and there as the went. Shizuo smiled warmly as Izaya twitched against the touch slightly. Waking the flea like this was the best part of his day. It was such a lazy experience and he got to see Izaya in such a cute state. It was easy to forget what a little shit he was like this.
Izaya on the other hand frowned against the pillow. Shizuo had been waking him up like this for months. It would always start with same soft whispers followed by feather light drags of his nails up his back. He would deny for ever that it tickled and was indeed a nice way to wake up, but he could never tell that to Shizuo. Could never tell Shizuo that he loved it. Izaya was a complicated person.
Shizuo kissed his shoulder.
That was the next step of the process. Shizuo seemed to have a whole system down. Izaya wasn't really sure when it had started. He wasn't sure when they started sleeping together. Actual sleeping instead of just fucking. It was strange but the times Shizuo wouldn't stay over he found himself longing for the warmth of the other in his bed. He found himself wishing for those touches, those kisses and those soft whispers.
Shizuo let out a soft hum as the kissing slowly traveled down his back, into the dip of his spine where Shizuo would once again drag not one, but both hands down his back, letting his nails skitter on the surface.
The final step was always rolling Izaya over and unwinding him from the blankets. The sun would hit his face, he'd open his eyes to see Shizuo's warm gaze boring into his with such a soft smile Izaya wanted to reach up and capture it. He would feel his heart ignite in his chest while he fought for a breath as Shizuo stole it straight from his lungs with that simple gaze. This time however, Izaya's frown flipped to a sneaky grin as Shizuo began to roll him over.
"Alright Flea that-" Shizuo was cut off as Izaya grabbed him and flipped him over on his back.
"Got you." Izaya grinned as he held Shizuo down by his wrists above his head.
Shizuo's surprise quickly melted into amusement. "Do you now?" He rolled his head back into the sheets with a deep inhale through in nose. "Oh what ever shall I do? I've been caught by a flea." Izaya narrowed his eyes, never letting his smirk fall. Shizuo rolled his head back to face Izaya again, still smiling that warm smile that made Izaya's heart fizzle in his chest. "Just kidding."
His hands shot free from Izaya's hold and he grabbed Izaya's hands too quick for Izaya to prepare for. He flipped Izaya over on his stomach and pressed his chest to Izaya's bare back. He wound his arms around Izaya's neck and held him with a gentle force so Izaya couldn't move. His hair fell across Izaya's cheek with little tickles.
"Damn it!" Izaya growled. He tried to turn his head but Shizuo burrowed his nose against his neck. "Oh this isn't fair?"
"mmmmm" Shizuo breathed. His lips brushed Izaya's ear. "How so?"
Izaya couldn't fight the shudder that ran through him. "You're trying to seduce me."
Shizuo hold softened at the shocked breath that he sputtered out.
Izaya felt it and immediately pushed up, knocking Shizuo backwards. He flattened back against Shizuo to press him into the bed before trying to roll off. Shizuo grabbed him instead, winding their legs together to hold him still. Izaya felt Shizuo's ankle run up his inner leg as he wound them tight. A few pillows fell to the floor and Izaya squinted at the sunlight filtering through the windows against his face.
"Well you're playing dirty." Shizuo chuckled.
Izaya arched against him, trying to wiggle away. "You knew I would."
Shizuo sighed in agreement. "What ever will I do with you?" A kiss was planted on his head.
Izaya smiled at the fuzzy feeling it left running through him. He looked down at Shizuo's arms locked around him. He smile widening. "You know what they say about fleas right?"
Shizuo chuckled and let his hands slide over Izaya's stomach. "What?"
Shizuo's hands splayed out to let him drag his nails around. Izaya had to fight a giggle, a tickle fight was not on today's agenda. Izaya leaned his head forward and bit Shizuo's arm. Of course it would do nothing since Shizuo had such thick skin but Izaya had to try. Shizuo hissed and removed his arms. Izaya unwound them and rolled away to stand next to the bed. Shizuo had his face covered with one arm as if he was in pain.
"Oh come now Shizu-chan. There is no way that hurt!" Izaya frowned at him while crossing his arms. The sun filtering through the window warming his back.
Shizuo peeked at him under his arm. "Of course it didn't."
"Are you trying to fool me?" Izaya asked.
Shizuo shrugged. "Maybe."
"Well that just wont work." Izaya unfolded his arms to place them on his hips. "Did you really think it would?"
"It would enough for you to let your guard down." Shizuo grinned as he rolled quick to snatch Izaya around the waist. With a small yelp he dragged them both back into the bed. Shizuo was now sitting crossed legged with Izaya in his lap facing away from him. He hugged Izaya tight and kissed his neck. "I think it worked."
Izaya rolled his head back, resting it on Shizuo's shoulder and feeling the little bit of morning stubble brush his cheek. "You think so?"
"Got you back in bed didn't I?" Shizuo brushed his lips against his cheek.
"So you did. You're mistake though." Izaya grinned.
"Ha?" Shizuo questioned. Before he could get an explanation Izaya scooted down, sliding right under his arms and spun around. He tackled Shizuo back into the bed straddling him. "Damn." Shizuo sighed deep. "Should have expected that from a slippery devil like you."
Izaya smiled smugly at him. "Yes you should have."
Shizuo smiled warmly up at him. "What will you do with me now since you caught me?"
Izaya tilted his head in mock thought. "I don't know. To think of a flea catching a beast is quite a feat." Shizuo laughed and Izaya narrowed his eyes at him. "Did you let me win?"
Shizuo shook his head. "Never."
Izaya smiled triumphantly at him.
"You didn't answer my question though." Shizuo tilted his head against the bed. "What will you do with me?"
Izaya grinned. "Oh I can think of a few things." He then leaned over to capture Shizuo's lips with his own.
Yes, Izaya didn't know when this all started. When they became so intimate. When neither one of them could sleep peacefully without the other. When Izaya felt safe in his arms. Or when he fell in love.

hi it’s me scrambled (=´∀`) I think a one shot about highschool Shizuo and Izaya dealing with homophobia would be really interesting (saw it an ask on glaces blog abt it) and I can’t stop thinking abt it, sounds really interesting and kinda angsty (please don’t kill anyone,,,smh,,) but still sounds good! You’re amazing I stan you too hard I love your writing and I love everything about it <3
((Thank you! <3 So you...want me to write about someone with a death wish???? You want me to write someone being an ass to Shizuo AND Izaya? Ooh boy.))
Everyone at school knows about Shizuo and Izaya. They're kind of infamous, especially with the way Izaya spreads rumors around. At first, they just fought all the time, but most of the time they could wait until they were out of school to come to blows. Usually, they wound up being caught by Simon and then dragged into Russia Sushi for the remainder of the afternoon. Izaya would make scathing comments in Russian, and then Shizuo would launch at him, and then Simon would say something like, “Izaya only say he wants pickled radish! Why so mad, ShiZUo?”
To this day, Shizuo doesn't really understand what changed between them. He thinks maybe he caught Izaya, and Izaya kissed him out of desperation. Or maybe Shizuo kissed Izaya first. Once their lips met the first time, it didn't really matter who kissed who. They just kept kissing, and Shizuo thinks it's much better than fighting with Izaya all the time, though they do still fight pretty often.
Being in a sort of relationship with Izaya has many perks, actually, one of which being Izaya can help with homework. Sometimes Izaya is a real dick about it and he gets off on watching Shizuo struggle, but other times, like today, he's informative and indulgent. He's winding his fingers through Shizuo's hair while chattering away about some mistake Shizuo made on the English homework, and Shizuo is struggling to listen to what he's saying.
They're on their lunch break. They always meet on the roof, and sometimes Shinra and Kadota will come too, but today is one of those days where it's just Shizuo and Izaya, and Izaya is being touchy, and Shizuo forgets all about the past, present, and future tense on his worksheet.
“Are you listening?” Izaya asks. “You're going to fail.”
“Shut up,” Shizuo says. He presses his face into Izaya's neck and breathes him in, his hands going to Izaya's back. “You're distracting me.”
“Don't blame me for your short attention span.” Izaya sounds gleeful, and knowing him, he's distracting Shizuo on purpose. He'd laugh for hours if Shizuo failed his class.
There's no one else around, and it really wouldn't matter if there were. Even the teachers will struggle to separate the two of them when they argue in the hallways and inevitably end up making out violently.
“I don't think I'm gonna get it even if you keep talking about it,” Shizuo says into Izaya's neck. He lifts his head. “There's better things we could do.”
“You could eat your lunch,” Izaya says, but he's smirking in that way of his. Shizuo used to want to punch it off Izaya's face, but now he likes to kiss it.
“Nah, I wanna eat you,” Shizuo says, and he pulls Izaya's lips to his. Kissing Izaya is one of Shizuo's favorite things to do. It shuts Izaya up, and it always becomes a challenge to get Izaya so worked up that he becomes compliant. It doesn't usually take too long, but Shizuo refrains from getting handsy since they're at school. His parents have been indulgent about the whole Izaya thing, but Shizuo thinks it's because they'd rather Shizuo be fucking Izaya than actively trying to kill him.
He nips at Izaya's tongue, and Izaya shivers before crawling forward and straddling Shizuo's lap. This is dangerous— If they get too worked up, Shizuo doesn't think they'll be able to stop. Still, Izaya is persuasive, and he's tugging at Shizuo's hair, and then...
There's some annoying noise that's not either of them.
Shizuo growls and pulls away from Izaya, who turns and raises an eyebrow. Shizuo follows his line of sight and observes some guy he's never seen before.
“Takeda-san,” Izaya says smoothly, like he's not hard in Shizuo's lap. “Did you need something?”
“Who the fuck are you?” Shizuo asks, already pissed they were interrupted.
“He just transferred to my class,” Izaya says, and Shizuo grumbles.
“Uh, yeah, I was coming to ask you about homework. A girl in class said you'd be here with your...uh. Friend.” Takeda looks very uncomfortable, and Shizuo doesn't like the way he's looking at Izaya.
“Ah. I'll help you after break. I'm a little busy,” Izaya says.
“Is this like. Allowed?”
“Why are you still here?” Shizuo barks, and the guy narrows his eyes. It's been a long time since anyone at school glared at Shizuo like that. Most people are afraid of him, but Izaya just said Takeda is a transfer.
“What do you mean? Kissing? I don't suppose it's allowed, but no one is going to stop us,” Izaya says, and he grins at Shizuo playfully. Shizuo hugs him closer and noses against his cheek, growling impatiently. Izaya giggles.
“I'd just think you'd be a little careful, since it's... I mean, you're both guys,” Takeda says.
“So?” Izaya asks, and the look in his eyes changes. Shizuo recognizes it well. It means Izaya is about to make this kid's life hell.
“I'll just ask someone else for help. Sorry to interrupt your time with your boyfriend,” Takeda says, clearly not all that sorry.
“It's really no problem,” Izaya says. “I can—“
“No. I don't wanna talk to a queer.”
Izaya sighs, and Shizuo is up on his feet in an instant, carrying Izaya right along with him.
“Say that again,” he says, walking right up to the fucker. “I dare you.”
“Look, it's my first day. I'll just avoid you from now on,” Takeda huffs. He's looking Shizuo up and down as if he's trying to gauge how strong Shizuo is.
“No, you already opened your fucking mouth. So say it again.”
“Yes, Takeda-san, call me another slur. They really get me going,” Izaya purrs.
“It's just gross, okay? It's fucking gross, and you'd think the two of you wouldn't be in broad daylight sucking face like that. You should be ashamed,” Takeda says, and Shizuo clenches his hands into fists.
“Apologize to Izaya, or I'm gonna throw you off the roof.” Shizuo feels immense anger, but he also feels strangely calm. Usually when he loses his temper, he feels guilty about it because the other person might not deserve it. Now, Shizuo doesn't feel the least bit guilty.
“Fuck that, I'm not saying sorry to that—“
Shizuo punches him before he can continue. Takeda flies backward, but he's on his feet again fairly quick. He lunges at Shizuo, who punches him again, harder this time, and uses Takeda's dazed state to lift him by the back of the shirt and carry him to the corner of the roof.
“Dangle him upside-down,” Izaya says, and Shizuo gives him a look.
“Why?”
“Why not?” Izaya shrugs.
“Oh, good point.”
By the time a teacher makes it to the roof, Takeda is crying in fear, all the blood rushed to his head, and Shizuo is holding him by one ankle, threatening loudly to let him fall.
Shizuo avoids suspension when Izaya explains what happened, though he's still in trouble, and his parents don't seem pleased with him. He honestly doesn't care though. He never really considered people like that before, someone having a problem with Shizuo kissing Izaya just because they're both guys. It seems so trivial.
“Most people aren't like you,” Izaya says when Shizuo mentions it. They’re exiting the school together, hand in hand. “They aren't scary and strong. They get bullied.”
“Do you get bullied when I'm not around?” Shizuo asks.
“No. I have a reputation on my own.” Izaya turns and grins at Shizuo. “You protected my honor today, Shizu-chan. Heiwajima Shizuo, defender of gay rights!” Izaya shouts it right in the middle of the sidewalk, and other people turn to stare at them.
“Shut up!” Shizuo huffs, swiping for him. Of course, Izaya dodges him.
“No cops at Pride, only Shizu-chan!” Izaya sings, dancing around, and Shizuo grumbles before giving up and letting Izaya get whatever the fuck this is out of his system. It feels good to see him happy about something other than someone suffering.
“Want to come over?” Izaya asks after he finishes flailing around. “I'm sure you don't really want to go home right now.”
“Are your sisters home?” Shizuo asks warily. He likes the twins, but he doesn't like the way they keep pestering him for pictures of his brother.
“Nope. They have martial arts today,” Izaya says. He bats his eyelashes. “You have me all to yourself!”
“Lucky me,” Shizuo says, and though he means it sarcastically, it comes out sounding sincere.

Custom Toonami Block Week 67 Rundown
Code Geass: So we have a repeat of last season’s festival episode that Milly even calls a filler episode in-universe complete with Three’s Company runaround mixup with CC hiding in pizza ingredients, Viletta in an unnecessarily skimpy swimsuit for no reason and Kallen in a tanktop just because. Gino and Anya are also there for the hell of it and Lelouch threatens to tell everyone about Viletta being an amnesiac waifu for Ohgi for a few months if she tells anyone about him being Zero which doesn’t make much sense because she didn’t remember who she was and fucking shot him as soon as she got her memory back but I guess Britannia is just THAT racist that they’d strip her of her title for that not like they have any proof of her relationship with Ohgi anyway but it balances this fucking house of cards for a bit longer. Also Suzaku reveals his goal to become the Knight King and take Japan as his dominion Yonkou-style before giving Lelouch the phone with Nunnally on the other end and forcing him to pretend he doesn’t know who she is just to fuck with him that much more.
Inuyasha: The Muso arc concludes with Naraku abducting Muso right before Inuyasha’s ready to kill him, and then Inuyasha and Naraku finally meet face to face again, which happens a lot less often than you’d expect, they even fight with Naraku’s weird spider legs. Muso escapes but comes back like a dumbass and Naraku re-absorbs him and instead of just Wind Scaring them both while Naraku’s absorbing him, Inuyasha waits and lets Naraku get back to full power where he has a Wind Scar proof barrier and they talk about how shitty being a half demon is but Naraku basically gets to pick when it’s extra shitty because he’s many demons and can basically just pick one of their times to be weak and rearrange the gacha team that is his body to keep getting stronger. Despite being stronger than ever and being Wind Scar proof, Naraku put all his stat points into DEF and just runs when Inuyasha tries to attack him again.
Yu Yu Hakusho: Kuwabara continues his fight with Byakko, setting up the trend that Kuwabara’s fights always have him on the backfoot and winning through a combination of digging in his heels, thinking creatively, and a measure of dumb luck. He does this not once but twice, knocking Fat Byakko off the castle and then thin Byakko into lava, but he’s definitely dead this time… definitely.
Fate Zero: The masters start getting used to their new servants, Iskander immediately puts Waver in his place, Saber does some classic Fate Navelgazing as Kiritsugu tells Illya her mom is definitely about to die and says he’s gonna definitely come back for her which we know doesn’t happen. Uryuu summons someone just as crazy as he is to add some SAW sadism to his classic Friday the 13th Slasher lifestyle. And last but not least Kirie wastes no time in immediately backstabbing Rin’s dad but he has Servant Dio as a bodyguard so that’s easier said than done.
Konosuba: It’s frog-hunting time. And despite having a solid strategy of letting the frogs eat Aqua and Kazuma doing chip damage while it’s occupied, the two decide to recruit Megumin anyway. Everyone knows by now she’s a one pump chump so they only get one shot before Kazuma has to chip away at the frogs with the “attack while they’re eating a waifu” strategy anyway, so we could’ve done this regardless but yay, loli obtained! Also Darkness gets her introduction in this episode and Cristina Vee seems to be doing her best Saber impression which really fucking makes me laugh.
Sailor Moon Crystal: So Ami is your basic girl with a lot of braincells and no friends, which works out since Usagi has negative braincells and many friends so together they work out to an average functional person. But yeah we continue the trend of “thing that makes young girls feel awful as it is exploited by monsters for ??? and profit. Yadda Yadda, Ami become Sailor Mecury and squirts on everything and Tuxedo Mask shenanigans and boomerang oneshot, rinse and repeat.
Durarara!!: So Shizuo is basically what would happen if Deku got stronger every time he used One for All. His backstory is mostly him hulking out on stupid people and wrecking himself. I don’t think that’s medically feasible at all but it does remind me of that meme about breaking your bones and the guy going “please don’t” so it’s funny. Also Shizuo and Izaya hate each other for literally no reason but a lot of things in Ikebukuro happen for no reason so that’s fine. Long story short Shizuo’s a good guy with a hair trigger and a brother that’s the most stoic person in the world but a weirdly good actor apparently. I like that Shizuo, Shinra and Izaya just fucking went to school together, like there’s no big tragic backstory of how they all got together they were just weird classmates that grew up into weird adults in a weird city, and that’s the anime.

I love yandere Izaya! Can you write hcs or a scenario about his s/o being in danger or being harmed from one of his many enemies? Thanks!
Izaya:
Izaya has messed up too many lives to count. It comes with the job, and his own disposition. So it’s natural to have some people that want to get back at him. The only person that seems to strike any emotional chord with him is you.
Anyone who knows about you must be highly informed. Izaya has kept any information about you hard to come across. Once he’s kidnapped you, he’s able to tie up any loose ends surrounding your disappearance. Also, where you’re being kept is something only he and Namie know.
If someone was capable of gaining access to all this information somehow, then they’d have their shot at you. But it’s a very short window. Any moment where he’s not working/ruining someone’s life for fun is spent with you.
So the person who was able to mess with you, even if it’s a minor injury, made a biiiig mistake. Izaya has cameras set up everywhere, with his connections it’s no problem finding out who this guy is. From an outward perspective, it’s hard to tell if Izaya is upset or not honestly.
He’ll tend to any of your wounds with a cheery attitude, playfully teasing you for getting hurt. For a split second though, when he sees any scratches on you for the first time, there’s this darkness in his eyes that brings you chills. It disappears fast and replaced with his normal hard to read expression though.
“[First]-chan, in the future, try to be more careful. I wouldn’t want you seriously getting hurt~”
Once you’ve been tended to, he gets to work. It’s a variety of things he can do, so many options! Should he frame them for sexual contact with a minor, take all the money from their bank account, set them up as a cheater to their spouse, hand them over to a client experimenting in human experiments… so many possibilities.
Namie will make a comment saying that it’s been a while since she’s seen Izaya so riled up about something. Izaya will laugh it off probably, but it’s true. Anything that has to do with you is sensitive to an unhealthy degree. This should make an example out of anyone wanting to take you from him.
A small part of him does enjoy pampering you until you recover. It feels partly condescending, as he uses it as a reminder of how much you need to rely on him. But he does do a good job taking care of you, replacing any bandages in a timely fashion and making sure you get enough sleep.

Game of Denial
I bet ya’ll didn’t expect me to come out with a fic for Shinra’s birthday, do you?
Well neither did I lmao. I started writing this spontaneously last night after remembering Shinra’s birthday and somehow managed to finish it today. With an hour to spare~ I’ve never completed a fic this quickly, so I hope you all like it! But of course I can’t forget...
Happy birthday, Shinra!!
“I don’t like it.”
Shinra smiled wryly.
Shinra Kishitani was currently on the roof of the school on his lunch break. He was one of the few students who chose to eat up here, which wasn’t all that surprising really. After all, why would a guy with no friends need to eat in a livelier place? While others may want to crowd in the classroom and exchange gossip and snacks alike, Shinra preferred the quiet open air of the rooftop. It wasn’t because he was overwhelmed at all though. There was just no way he could admire and truly appreciate the lunch Celty had slaved over with all of that ruckus.
And, surprisingly, he wasn’t alone in his self imposed seclusion. Izaya joined him. Whenever he wasn’t spending the time doing nefarious things in empty classrooms, of course.
Izaya brought with him the words of a dozen all wrapped up in one enigmatic individual. And while Shinra’s reason for eating on the roof was to escape the noise, he found that he quite enjoyed Izaya’s company. He liked to spot the irony of his words as they fell from those clever lips. Izaya talked a lot about loving humans. Loving to watch them and play with them and talk to them-loving to love them. And yet, as much as he waxed on and on about his adoration, he never explained why he too isolated himself from the very crowd he claimed to love.
Shinra didn’t bring it up though, allowing Izaya to play his game of denial—out of kindness or pity, he couldn’t say.
It hadn’t taken Shinra long to discover that Izaya was exceptionally good at that game. It was one Izaya played often, and one he played now.
“You know, for being such a scummy guy, you’re a surprisingly bad liar!” Shinra chirped happily, kicking his legs idly from where he was seated beside Izaya on one of the benches.
Izaya whipped his head around to glare at Shinra, looking deeply affronted. It wasn’t often that someone called Izaya Orihara a bad liar. He scoffed bitterly and crossed his arms over his chest, shifting his gaze away from his friend once more. “I’m not. You’re just an idiot.”
His insult only received a laugh in response. “Maybe. That doesn’t change the fact that you’re lying. Or well, trying to, anyway.” Shinra picked up the lunch he’d been neglecting for the past minute or so-for which he silently apologized to Celty-and refocused his attention on finishing up his rice. He didn’t need to look at Izaya to know that he was carefully choosing his next words. The thought made Shinra smile. No matter how much thought Izaya put into his words, he wouldn’t win. Not with Shinra.
“And why on earth would I lie about this, Shinra?” Was the drawled response Izaya decided on. Shinra found himself repressing a smirk.
“Because you’re embarrassed that you like to be tickled.”
He took another bite of his food while Izaya choked beside him. It wasn’t until he was done chewing that Shinra turned to look at him, feeling unsurprised but very happy with what he saw. Izaya’s cheeks were lit up red like the cherry tomatoes he liked to steal from Kadota’s lunch, and his lips were twisted in an embarrassed cringe. It was easy to see how much his teasing affected Izaya, so Shinra did the right thing and laughed at him.
“I-I don’t,” Izaya defended himself, trying to regain his footing in this very unpleasant conversation. “Why would anyone like being poked and prodded at like a children’s toy?”
Shinra gently placed his lunch box aside and scooted closer to Izaya so that they were practically touching shoulders. “How would I know?” He answered easily, leaning in close enough to make Izaya’s breath hitch. “Why don’t I do it and we find out? It can be an experiment~!” Too shocked to move, Izaya could only tense when he felt Shinra’s hands rest on his sides.
With Izaya frozen and silent, Shinra could almost hear the frantic whirling of his friend’s brain trying to make sense of what was going on. “What do you say, vice-president?” Shinra persisted, fingers almost painfully still. One would think that Shinra would go straight for the kill without warning and laugh cruelly as Izaya descended into a giggly mess. However, he waited. He waited, because he knew Izaya wouldn’t miss this opportunity to get what Shinra was sure he’d been craving all this time.
Izaya swallowed thickly. “Wow, Shinra. If you wanted to feel me up, you could have just asked~” he purred with a smirk that was weaker than usual.
Shinra’s glasses glinted in the light. “Just for science!” He assured cheerfully. There was a moment of tense silence before Izaya nodded, slow and hesitant.
“Right...if it’s for science, I suppose we have to. What kind of biology club would we be if we didn’t?”
As much as Shinra mused about how Izaya played the game, he never stopped to think about why he enabled him so. Perhaps it was because Izaya needed to be knocked down a peg or two sometimes. Or maybe it was because Izaya looked awfully cute trying to fumble for the clever words that usually came so easily to him. The reason didn’t matter, Shinra told himself. None of this mattered.
With that thought in mind, Shinra squeezed Izaya’s sides once before spidering his fingers up the ladder of his rib cage. The response was instant, and Izaya jumped with sharp intake of breath, just like he always did when Shinra would sneak a poke at his waist during class. Ever quick to mask his reactions, Izaya clenched his jaw and stiffened his muscles as to not squirm. If Shinra were to be honest, the unaffected expression was pretty convincing.
For all of five seconds, that is.
As soon as Shinra tweaked at his lower ribs, Izaya’s mouth spread into a wide grin and bubbly snickers filled the air. “Ahaha! D-dont!” His hands shot up to push at Shinra’s shoulders. There was hardly any strength in the push though, and that self control was what had originally sparked Shinra’s suspicion that Izaya didn’t mind this as much as he claimed to. The rest of his body language hinted at the same conclusion as well. Izaya cursed and squirmed and glared as much as he could, but he never tried to escape. He never stilled Shinra’s hands or brandished his blade. Not even when his laughter became breathy and strained.
And sometimes, if Shinra paid very close attention, he could feel Izaya lean into it.
“Have you come up with an answer yet, Orihara-kun?” He teased, wiggling his fingers between the other’s ribs to make him squeal. Like this, Izaya looked just as jumpy as the flea Shizuo claimed he was.
Shinra’s words earned him a particularly nasty look that was quickly wiped away by forced mirth. “Nahaha! Shut up! AH! Nohohohahaha!” Izaya’s squirming doubled in intensity when quick fingers skittered up his torso to poke at his underarms. His arms came down in an attempt to block the attack before he could stop himself. He knew that he would only be trapping Shinra’s hands there, but it was impossible to lift them when Shinra was vibrating his fingers into the very ticklish dips of his underarms. “Ahaha shihihit-! Stahahap!”
Shinra snickered at how Izaya’s legs kicked and flailed, deciding to give him another chance to share his discoveries for their little experiment. “Still no idea why you like it?”
“Damnit, Shinra, I don’t-ahhh! Fahahaha!” Izaya’s annoyed snap dissolved into a fit of hysteric laughter when the vibrating switched to gentle scritching. Though, that didn’t stop him from cursing Shinra to hell and back mentally for having the audacity to look so smug.
While he was sure Izaya would strongly disagree, Shinra thought he had every right to be smug. How could he not be when, even with dozens of ticklish sparks overwhelming his nerves, Izaya still made no move to put a stop to this. “You don’t know? That’s okay!” He pulled his hands free to give Izaya a moment to breathe. Though, the mercy was short-lived. “A good scientist always does more than one test!”
Having barely managed to catch his breath, Izaya responded to Shinra’s words with wide eyes full of dread. “N-no, we already have the conclusive answer. Surely we don’t need to-“ Any words after that were lost to a loud cacaophony of frenzied cackles and screeches.
Shinra smiled somberly, at odds with the energetic way his hands squeezed at Izaya’s thighs.
It seemed they'd be playing the game longer still.
Though, in all honesty, Shinra didn’t mind Izaya’s game of denial, and he didn’t mind that Izaya was so good at it.
After all, Shinra was the best.

Not So Easy
Notes: For the ask by @tickles-tea, who requested a follow-up on Endurance Training, only this time with feathers. Hope you enjoy!
Summary: When Shinra discovers a new tool to implement in their sessions, Izaya is faced with a challenge that he can’t refuse.
“A feather?”
The unimpressed drawl came from the mouth of none other than Izaya Orihara, perched on the edge of Shinra’s bed. Currently, the scientist was twirling the fluffy tool expectantly between his fingers after pulling it from a box on his bedside table. Inside the box, Izaya could see a variety of other feathers, all of them different shapes, sizes, and colors.
When Shinra had first grabbed him that day after school, excited to show him something that would take their “training” to a new level, Izaya had been apprehensive. Despite his protests otherwise, he was finding these tests to be much more difficult than he had anticipated, and the addition of some new element was harrowing. He had been expecting torture machines, brushes, maybe some new form of bondage to test out. Instead, Shinra had presented him with a simple goose feather, the edges soft but ultimately non-threatening.
“It’s a lot more difficult to withstand than you might think,” Shinra promised, taking a seat besides him. Izaya had previously been stretched out on the bed, supported by his elbows, but at the scientist’s sudden proximity he straightened up into a more protective position. He frowned at the involuntary action, wondering if maybe Shinra was getting to him after all.
“There’s just no way that I’m going to give in to something as stupid as a feather,” Izaya scoffed, making up for his earlier unease with a bluster he didn’t feel. “It’s impossible.”
“Impossible?” Shinra repeated, a strange glint entering his eyes.
“That’s what I said—”
“So you wouldn’t mind a challenge, would you?”
Izaya stiffened at the word, competitive spirit ignited. “A challenge? Of what sort?”
“You allow me to tickle you for ten minutes with this—” he gestured to the feather—“without giving up, saying the safe word, or moving to block me.”
“And what do I get if I win?” Izaya asked, crossing his arms skeptically.
Shinra thought about it for a moment. “You get to tickle me back wherever and however you want for five minutes.”
“Ten minutes,” Izaya amended immediately. “It’s only fair, right?”
“No,” Shinra corrected firmly. “Five minutes—you said it was an easy win, after all; it wouldn’t make sense to give you so much retribution for something that should come easily to you. Five minutes, final offer.”
Though technically he could launch revenge anytime he wanted, Shinra usually got him back tenfold afterwards, something Izaya found vastly unfair as he knew for a fact that the future scientist enjoyed it. This would give him a chance to finally get him back without fear of retribution. “Alright. Fine. And what happens if I lose?”
“You get tickled for five minutes on your worst spot and you’re not allowed to block me.”
“What?” Izaya exclaimed, shudders shooting down his spine at the idea. “No way. Not fair.”
“Hey, if you don’t think you can do it…” Shinra shrugged, leaning back and waiting for the other boy’s answer.
Izaya tugged at his lip, considering. On one hand, there was no way he could stand his thighs being tickled for that long without anyway to stop it. On the other hand, the idea of finally wrecking Shinra was incredibly appealing.
Not to mention, it was just a feather. What was the worst that could happen?
“Alright,” Izaya said, holding out his hand. “You’ve got yourself a deal.”
Currently, Izaya lay stripped down to his shorts on Shinra’s bed, his arms held above his head and anticipation wreaking havoc on his nerves. At first he had protested the exposed state, but Shinra pointed out that the feather would only be effective if it could get to bare skin. Izaya squeezed his hands together, taking in a shuddering breath. “You got the timer?”
“Yes. Get ready to have your mind blown, Orihara.”
Shinra started the timer just as Izaya was rolling his eyes at him, and that was when he felt the first brush of the feather against his side.
Izaya stifled an involuntary squeak, blaming the embarrassing action on shock. The feather was soft and as it brushed up and down his side it created an almost pleasant sensation that sent goosebumps prickling along his skin. It was strange; Izaya found himself torn between laughing and sighing in pleasure. It was impossible to sit through, but at the same time he almost didn’t want it to stop. He shifted on the bed, wishing Shinra would at least move on from that one spot which only seemed to get more sensitive with the continued caresses of the feather.
“T-This is easy,” Izaya bluffed, cursing the slight stammer in his voice. “I could do this all d-day.”
“Good to know.” Shinra grinned, sweeping the feather up so that it was swirling around his stomach. Izaya jumped, a hand shooting down to cover his face and a smile tugging at his lips. “Oh? Good spot?”
Izaya shook his head, afraid to speak. His stomach trembled under the light touch of the feather and a blush crept unwanted along his features. Despite his tough exterior, Izaya himself was not all that strong and this was evidenced in the softness of his skin, smooth and vulnerable with no muscle to protect itself. This gave the feather direct access to his nerves, and as its attack continued unhindered Izaya felt the first, lone giggle slip out of his mouth, followed by several more broken-up ones.
“Not as easy as you thought, huh?” Shinra asked, arching an eyebrow.
Izaya shakily raised his hand to flip him off, a gesture contrary to the sweet giggles spilling from his lips. “F-Fuhuck you.”
“Oh, ho, ho, is that how you want to play it?” Shinra smirked, sweeping the feather up towards his underarms suddenly. Izaya shrieked, arms flailing a bit as he tried to figure out how to react, finally settling on gripping the headboard with white knuckles. “I knew this would get you. Willing to give up yet.”
It shouldn’t have tickled that much. There was no way that one, singular feather could be having the effect it was having on Izaya. Yet it seemed that he had made a large miscalculation in underestimating the sensitivity of his underarms. He writhed under the gentle touch, face scrunched up in a determined grin as he fought back squeaks and giggles.
“T-Thihihis ihihis s-stuhuhupid!” he protested, shrinking under the soft plumage. “Ihihi—ahaha, nohohohoho!”
Shinra’s heart stuttered in his chest. It took a lot to break Izaya Orihara, and even when he did it was never in this gentle way where the torment was soft, unending touches that wrung such sweet noises from his mouth. He found himself enraptured by the sight. The trembling of his skin, twitching and arching on his bedsheets, the flushed pallor to his cheeks, laughter, pleasant and uncontrolled to his ears. He decided then and there that he needed to see more of this side of him in as many different ways as possible.
He lifted the feather, giving his friend a momentary reprieve, before tracing the tip delicately along his collarbone and under his chin. Izaya honest-to-god snorted, ducking his head into his shoulders. Amused by the reaction, Shinra kept it up and swept the feather along any available skin of his neck. Izaya was helpless to protect it, unable to cover all of his neck at once, and he twisted his head from side to side in an attempt to catch the damned thing.
“I didn’t realize your neck was so ticklish!” Shinra exclaimed in delight, managing to somehow slip the feather under his head and across the nape of his neck. Izaya shrieked, praying to any deity out there that might be listening that the feather would evaporate before it could do anymore damage.
“Neheheither d-did Ihihi!” Izaya’s laughter was becoming more bubbly by the minute, the sheer ridiculousness of the situation taking over. He had let go of the headboard by now, and his hands hovered around his neck and shoulders, close enough that he felt like he had some sort of control over the situation, but not actually stopping the torment and allowing himself to lose the challenge. “J-Juhuhust g-go sohomewhere ehelse!”
“Why?” Shinra teased, unable to help himself. Anytime he had Izaya in a position like this he had to exploit it for all it was worth. “Does it tickle too much?”
“Yehehes—nohohohoho—Ihihi dohohon’t—” It was clear that Izaya’s sense of coherency was quickly fading and Shinra decided to give him a break if only because he didn’t want the challenge to be over so quickly; he wasn’t done with him just yet.
“Alright, I suppose I’ll be nice for now.” Shinra backed off and Izaya slumped back onto the bed, taking a hand and not-so-subtly rubbing away the remaining sensations on his neck.
Shinra pursed his lips, trying to figure out where to go next. He could go for his thighs, but he knew the second he touched him there with that feather Izaya would cave and he wanted this to be interesting. That didn’t mean he was going to leave his lower half entirely alone, of course. He would just have to be strategic about it.
He scooched down on the bed, picking up Izaya’s leg and hooking it around one shoulder. Izaya frowned indignantly, opening his mouth to question the strange action, but before he could Shinra teased the feather along the backs of his knees, tracing the sensitive skin contained there.
Izaya’s eyes widened and he shot up on the bed, slamming his hands down on either side of him. “No! Wait--E-ehehe, whahahait, nohoho!”
Izaya’s leg trembled violently as Shinra dragged the feather up and around in tiny circles, pulling the cutest noises from his mouth as he did so. Izaya fell back on the bed, hiccupping around squeaky giggles as he fisted his hands in the bedsheets, occasionally slamming his fists down whenever it got too much.
This was only the beginning of Shinra’s plan, however. He continued to torment that spot for another minute before dragging it along his calf, a spot that made Izaya momentarily screw up his face in ticklish agony, before landing finally on the sole of his foot.
Though his reactions were less desperate now, Izaya burst into cackling laughter, covering his face once more in his hands. It was possible that Shinra had simply broken down his resistance, but there was definitely something more defeated in his friend’s countenance now, an undiluted joy that expressed itself in the form of helpless laughter. Shinra found himself laughing too, drawn in by the infectious nature of it all.
Eventually it was twisting the feather between his toes that finally broke him. Shinra had only been tickling him there for about twenty seconds before Izaya reached forward and batted his hands away.
“Stohohohop!” he choked out, kicking his leg out in an attempt to free himself. “N-No mohore.”
As soon as Shinra let go of him he snatched the feather out of his hand, crumpling it and throwing it on the ground.
“Ah,” Shinra pouted. “I liked that feather.”
“I didn’t,” Izaya grumbled, curling up on the bed in an exhausted heap. “That feather was evil.”
Despite his protests, Izaya felt an involuntary smile curl at his lips, not just from the tickling, either. It was nice to be able to just smile and laugh uninhibited without worrying about what others would think. It had been so long since he had allowed himself to do so, though Shinra, he was quickly finding, was an exception to a lot of things in his life.
The tickling itself wasn’t so bad either, not that he would ever admit it.
As he lay there, panting and trying to regain his breath, he felt a shadow looming over him and turned over to find Shinra hovering behind him. “What are you—?”
“Don’t you remember what your punishment was?”
Izaya’s eyes widened. “Shinra no.”
“Where was your worst spot again?” Shinra asked, tapping a finger against his chin in a mock impression of confusion. “Was it possibly right... here!”
“No, no, nohohohohoho!”
The moment Shinra latched onto his thighs, Izaya was lost once more to helpless laughter. Through his cackling and squirming, Izaya found himself thanking the world that he had found a friend like Shinra.
Truly, he couldn’t have asked for anyone better.

Fic Friday: Needy, Part 1
(As usual, you can find the AO3 version of all my uploads [and some things I don’t post here to tumblr] via my Masterlist blog page.)
Another concept that has been sitting in my notes since I finished the first season of Durarara!!. Izaya has been coming up a decent amount in some recent conversations and I was convinced to continue watching DRRR!! with X2/etc, so my want to write this has been reinvigorated.
This lead-up can be skipped if desired. It’s mostly Reader being bored and getting more jealous as the day goes on, but I felt like writing it and was having a good time, so it exists (plus it’s a little help to practice for a longer project I may have in mind.). You won’t miss out on any smut skipping this chapter, so if you’re here for that, feel free to move onto the next one!
Part 2
Summary  Reader’s jealousy over the attention Izaya gives to everyone else finally comes to a head one evening. They discover it hasn't exactly been a secret to the information broker.
Needy (F! Reader/Izaya Orihara)
Chapter 1. Green-Eyed Monster
You came to slowly, unwilling to leave the peaceful land of slumber, tangled in the soft warmth of the sheets and pillows like so many other days. The surrounding room was dark, the sheets displaced by whatever tossing and turning had taken place through the night. You contemplated snuggling back into the blankets and snoozing the day away, but admonished yourself quickly, rubbing the sleep from your eyes with your wrist. It wouldn’t do to spend all day in bed - at least not alone.
You had long since grown used to waking up in Izaya Orihara’s bed, often after long exhausting evenings preceding it. Many mornings you awoke in his arms, or with him in yours, surrounded by his faint scent of soap and spice and bitter tea. Those were the sweetest. Had someone told you when you first met him Izaya was the cuddling type - in or out of bed -  you would have laughed in their face at the absurdity. As much as he claimed to love humans, he didn’t come off as the type to be physically affectionate. You were glad to learn that your first impressions had been incorrect.
Recently something had changed. Izaya’s workload new was far heavier than before, which left less of his time for you. You occupied yourself more often while he stared intently at various screens for hours or went on about plans only he fully knew and understood. You were used to that well enough, just not so much as had become the recent norm. Sure, Namie was often around as well, but she was little in the way of good company or entertainment.
There were the times when Izaya left to gallivant around the city and make life a pain for the more powerful or notable denizens of the city or to meet clients to broker his work. When he was away you didn’t even have to chance to try to coax him into taking the occasional break. Those were the days you hated the most, but you knew it wasn’t his job to amuse you all the time- even if you would have been perfectly happy with that kind of arrangement.
Despite suggestive promises and invitations to join you, you had begun retiring to bed alone long before Izaya more and more commonly. Often you feel asleep before he ever came to bed - some nights you weren’t sure he did at all. Even on the mornings you knew he had, whether from the displacement of the bedsheets or a faded warmth beside you, he was up and back at work before you woke as if he had never stopped. That morning was another on which you awoke alone, frowning at the impressions in the sheets beside you and wishing you had woken earlier or he had stayed longer in bed.
You tried to convince yourself it was normal, reminding yourself that Izaya was a busy man. That he had so much business to attend to was no surprise, especially when Ikebukuro got rowdy, due to whatever new event involving the color gangs or a shift in Yakuza politics popped up. But reason did nothing to wash away the bitter taste in your mouth when you wandered out into the hall and looked down to see Izaya entertaining another early morning client.
You frowned, glowering down at the seated client - you weren’t sure who they were, but they looked vaguely familiar, so likely some regular - sitting across from Izaya. The informant in question looked as cool and confident as ever. For a moment, the lilt of his voice overturned your bitterness, but the moment was brief and it returned obstinately. You waited, resting your elbows against the rail, sure to remain hidden among the shadows cast by the apartment’s angles.
You knew better than to interrupt his business. Even if you were upset it seemed to consume every waking hour recently, interference was taboo. You had learned that a long time ago. You weren’t sure if Izaya being wholly unconcerned you might overhear a business conversation meant he just didn’t care or if he trusted you. Maybe it was a bit of both.
You grew bored quickly, hardly listening to the exchange at the desk below, despite neither bothering to keep their voice down. At last, there was a shuffling of something - funds, contracts, whatever, you couldn’t tell from your perch - and then the client rose with a farewell and turned to leave. You eased further into the shadow, fairly sure you weren’t in danger of being seen, but better safe than sorry. Passingly, you imagined how irate some of Izaya’s clients might have been if they were aware a second set of eyes and ears was butting in on their private conversations with the informant.
Izaya followed courteously, seeing them off to the door and bidding a professional, cheery goodbye. Only once you heard the door snap closed did you make your way down the stairs. But before you even descended the last step, you heard Izaya engaged in another conversation and your face sank. He wasn’t speaking to you, of course, but another client or contact on one of his many cellphones. Work, work, and more work again. Izaya cast you a small smile before tuning back into his call, plopping down on the couch as he talked.
You sat down on the cushion beside him, careful to stay quiet and not interrupt his call. Izaya lay an arm along the back of the sectional but didn’t touch you, and you gave it a  sidelong glance. A childish part of you fantasized about tearing the phone from his hand and tossing it away, undoubtedly garnering his attention one way or another. You quickly silenced the thought, waiting some more. You had hardly been awake for long, and already you had done so much waiting.
Just as you were considering moving off the couch to grab a book off the shelf or freshen up, you heard the call winding down from Izaya’s tone. A hopeful excitement sprang up in your chest and you inched closer to Izaya as he hung up.
“Izaya, since you’re done with those clients, how about we…” you began to propose, placing what you intended to be a seductive touch on his knee. Your words fell away, noting Izaya was paying no mind to you - his eyes and fingers focused on the message he was composing on his phone.
“Hm, what was that, darling?” He asked, hitting send and tucking the phone into a pocket.
“Ah, it was nothing important,” you dismissed, sighing internally and pulling your hand back. You had a feeling you knew what the answer was going to be.
Izaya eyed you quietly for a second, and you wondered if he suspected the thoughts simmering beyond your dismissal. “I see. Well, I’ve got some things to take care of,” he announced, the previous scrutiny disappearing and replaced by his typical demeanor. When he rose from his seat, his fingers brushed fleetingly across your shoulder and you followed the oh-so-slight motion out of the corner of your eyes. “Don’t get into too much trouble while I’m gone.”
You almost rolled your eyes at his teasing words. You really should have been the one warning him. Izaya Orihara telling you not to get into trouble when he caused and attracted it himself in so many forms was an irony so thick you could taste it.
“Don’t worry, I won’t do anything you would,” you shot back wryly.
He smirked, leaning in for a second and pressing a quick kiss to your cheek that left you wanting. You watched him straighten and turn on his heel, vanishing down the entryway and out the door briskly.
You sighed, leaning on your elbow on the back of the sofa with your cheek resting on a fist. Silence enveloped you again, save for the dull chatter of the birds outside and even fainter sounds of people in the streets below. You searched the apartment lazily, trying to decide on something to entertain yourself with. Neither the TV nor the assortment of books on the shelf piqued your interest, nor did the idea of laying on the couch and browsing the internet or the forums. Certain ones were amusing now and then, chatrooms especially, but you weren’t in the mood for any of that.
In your search, you realized that you were left completely alone in the apartment. There was no sign of Namie, whom you knew by that time would have normally arrived. A day off for the woman then. Just your rotten luck that you didn’t even have her prickly company for the day. Perhaps you would take a stroll down to Ikebukuro and entertain yourself there instead.
A shower and a change of clothes later and you had left the spacious apartment, unsure exactly where in Ikebukuro you were planning to go. It was always important to monitor your surroundings in the city, even if you weren’t somewhere sketchy or isolated. You weren’t sure if your involvement with Izaya was a secret or not - or how widespread it was, even if it was a secret. All you knew was that not everyone liked the information broker and some of those people had enough balls - or few enough brain cells - to think screwing with someone more closely involved with Izaya was a good idea.
Even with that in mind, Ikebukuro, for all the trouble that took place so often, really wasn’t very intriguing most days. Sure, there was always something lurking beneath the surface, someone moving pawns on a chessboard, or some plan being brought to fruition. None of that mattered though unless you wanted to butt into someone else’s business. And unlike a certain someone you knew, sticking your nose into other peoples’ affairs wasn’t a hobby of yours for the most part.
You grabbed a quick bite to eat in one of the small shops on your way into the more bustling parts of the city. You weren’t sure if you had gotten a bad batch or if everything just tasted worse from your boredom and bitterness, but your breakfast left you thoroughly unsatisfied. A running trend for the morning it seemed. Well, there was plenty of time in the day left to fix that, right?
For a while, you sat down on an empty bench on a busy street, watching the many perfectly ordinary people of the city going about their daily business, blissfully unaware of the games being played around them, save for when the usual players shook up things in particularly noisy ways. You mentally picked one out from the crowd, now and then, wondering if beneath the surface they had some awful or bizarre secret, as was the case for several of the notable names in Ikebukuro. When you had first come to the city, you would have never imagined such normal-looking people were capable of having such impressive secrets, but your time had taught you much.
Here and there, over an hour or so, you spotted several of the men or women you knew to be trouble of some degree. A high-schooled aged boy who couldn’t have looked more commonplace if he tried with some fantastical sounding name. A tall man in a headscarf who often rode around with a band of eccentrics in a van. A man with dreadlocks and glasses, flanked by a grouchy looking blonde smoking a cigarette. Your brow arched up and a jolt of jealousy swirled in your gut at the sight of the blonde.
You knew most of the others were involved in Izaya’s business in one form or another - generally not by choice - but you were acutely aware of how much attention he paid the blonde. He had spoken about him before, insisting how much he hated monsters like him, but you weren’t so sure sometimes. Whatever the case, he devoted a lot of his attention to making his life miserable, you knew that much. Time you pettily felt could have been better spent paying attention to you without the threat of being beaten into the concrete.
Shaking off the feeling, you daydreamt for a little while about what it would be like to be involved in all the dirty dealings and trickery that went into the politics controlling the city. Maybe it would be a better and more exciting use of your time than what you did for fun. You doubted you were cut out for how cut-throat you had heard the game could be though, so perhaps it was best it remained an idle imagining. Eventually, imagining what-ifs and singling people out in the ever-moving crowds grew dull and you stood up, taking your outing back on the move.
Turning a corner, you glanced through the immaculately polished glass windows of a quaint, cozy cafe. Your face stretched in surprise, eyes widening for an instant as they landed on a slender form and handsome, sly face there was no mistaking. Izaya looked so comfortable, settled on one of the window seats facing outward. He looked to be watching the crowds go by, sipping contently at the steaming mug in his grasp. People-watching? That was the business he had needed to attend to?
Jealousy swelled in your chest again, acrid and burning, and you took a deep breath to quell it. Yes, you had been doing the same thing recently - out of necessity to amuse yourself since Izaya had ignored you, you reminded yourself crossly - but you hadn’t labeled it as something that needed tending to. You stepped back, glaring from your spot on the corner for a moment before making an about-face and striding angrily away from the cafe windows. Now you were bored and angry. So much for the idea that there time for the day to improve.
You tried your hardest to clear your head as strolled aimlessly, but the stubborn emotions refused to go. The image of him seated so relaxedly in the cafe as if he had nothing else in the world he could be doing compounded your frustration, making it grow hotter and more irrational. ‘You could have spoken up’ a small voice piped up. ‘Maybe you’re just not interesting enough to keep his attention,’ another far meaner voice sneered. You ground your teeth and shook your head, refusing to accept either suggestion.
When wandering alone with your antagonistic thoughts became too much, you gave up the idea of your pleasant excursion. Head cloudy with nagging voices and snippets of the day, chest burning angrily, you made your way back to Izaya’s apartment. At least there you could be moody in peace without worry of anyone seeing.
