I fully expected all my first lines to be rambling run-on sentences. I'm pleasantly surprised that they're mostly short; dare I even say, punchy. 😜 4/10 starting sentences had under 6 words; the remaining had nary a single semi-colon.
6/10 did not immediately reveal the narrator.
Only 3/10 started with dialogue. It would be interesting to do the last sentence version of this because I'm sure I almost always end a scene with speech/dialogue.
Does anyone else see other patterns?

“I’ll explain later, but for now, can I throw this frozen margarita in your face and call you a jerk?”
Clint wasn’t a stranger to having drinks thrown in his face, not because he was a jerk or anything, but because it was sort of his thing.
He didn’t have his bartending license yet, so the owner here let him pick up tips as a table runner, and a little side hustle as a first resort to asking for an angel shot.
Clint didn’t mind literally dripping with cocktails if it meant that some woman could make herself look like someone a real-life jerk wouldn’t want anything to do with.
Plus, he got great tips for it.
He didn’t reply, just gave the brunette a subtle nod that she definitely picked up on.
As the drink splashed in his face, he suddenly realized where he’d seen said brunette before. And how many times he’d seen her. And seen her. And seen her. “Darcy?”
Her eyes widened. “Later,” she hissed, turning on her heel and stomping off.
Clint trained his face to a look of surprise, which wasn’t all an act. The drink was super cold.
After the people surrounding him had given him a sufficient amount of dirty looks, he watched Darcy march back over to a booth where she was sitting alone.
Clint made his way back to the restroom, and was about halfway through cleaning the lime cocktail mix out of his shirt when the door banged open, and Darcy moved inside, closing and locking the door behind her.
“Thank you,” she said softly.
“Anytime, babe. You know I---“
“No, I mean it. Clint. Thank you for not... you know...”
“It’s kind of my job, Darce.”
She shot him a look. “No. I mean about the...”
“Oh, that...”
She was referring to the times they’d hooked up. No less than three, but not more than eight. He wasn’t sure if each individual act counted, or if it was just the number of times they booty-called each other. Did anyone still say that? Booty-call? Whichever it was, he knew it wasn’t more than nine times. Maybe ten.
“Why would I do that? You clearly didn’t want anything more. But enough on that, are you okay? Do you need the bartender to call someone for you?”
She looked him up and down. “What time are you off?”
He licked his lips and reached for another paper towel, nervous, but self-aware enough to know he was staring number eleven right down the barrel. Or twelve? Definitely not more than twelve. “Depends”
“On?”
“On what your plans are after leaving here. If you aren’t in the mood for anything, we could always just head back to yours and watch Netflix or something. Or if I’m barking up the wrong tree stop me.”
“You can’t leave Lucky home alone.”
“I mean, no. I’ll have to run by there and feed him and---“
“I’ll come to yours. And take you up on the Netflix. Chill if I feel like it?”
“Perfect. In that case, I’m off.”
“For real? You don’t have to stay for the rest of the night?”
“Nah. I work for tips anyway. The only one who it’s hurting is me. But I mean. I’m definitely not hurting.”
Darcy looked like she didn’t really believe him. “If you’re sure...”
“Never hurting with I’m with you.”
She smiled and stopped, reaching out to take the paper towel out of his hand and wipe a spot on his neck. “You’ll have to tell me all about your job because I am all kinds of intrigued now.”
“Intrigued, huh? That’s a step-up from before, right?”
“Clint.”
“I’m kidding, Darce. See you at mine?”
Her smile stretched into a grin and Clint had to inhale to stop his heart from fluttering. “See you at yours.”

Darcy Lewis decides she can’t be an unpaid intern forever and opens up her own food truck. She specializes in homemade Pop Tarts (aka handpies in case any trademark attorneys are asking!) and good, strong coffee.
Coffee Tart becomes a local favorite in no time at all.
Clint’s walking Lucky at the asscrack of dawn when he notices the van first. How could he not? It’s a hot pink VW van with a pin-up girl painted on the side. The scent of delicious coffee hits him next. Darcy Lewis sells him a triple berry Pop Tart and the best cup of coffee he’s ever had. Oh, and a little cup of leftover tart crusts for Lucky.
Before he really realizes it he’s frequenting Coffee Tart several times a week - both for a quick breakfast and the flirty sarcastic quips he trades with Darcy. She starts keeping his favorite flavor of pastry on hand and, because Clint is Clint, some extra bandages and gauze too.
Lucky’s tail starts wagging madly every time they come up on the Coffee Tart van parked next to the community garden.
And Clint can’t help but think, “Yeah, me too, buddy.”

At the moment, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has eaten my soul. But I also have works in X-Men comics & movieverse (Summers brothers, Gambit/Rogue), MCU Avengers (mostly Taserhawk but a few Captain Hill thrown in there for fun), and possibly my longest running faves, Clois, in all sorts of media.

I'm trying to be better at it but I did go through about 5 years of not writing so I never answered those comments. Right now I try to reply as soon as I post the next chapter of the same fic.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
A very very very VERY old Gambit/Rogue fic that I would disavow except I believe in archiving everything even your shittiest piece of work.
Angstiest ending of a fic that I don't mind naming? Toss up between Because Thorns Have Roses, a X-Men Fox movieverse involving a time-travelling Gambit; or Polish Them Rockets, Swallow Those Pills an MCU Taserhawk break-up fic (which has a sequel that negates the angst).
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of my fics end happily. They just go through the wringer to get there.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I don't think so? Unless there are some subtweet style comments out there that I'm not privy to.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yeps. Yeppers. Absolutely yes. About half of my fics have smut. I can't write PWP though; all my porn has plot.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Yes. I wouldn't call them crazy by any means but I have 2 X-Men/Superman ones-- one where the Kents with a young Clark ended up adopting Scott Summers|Cyclops after his parents' plane crashes in their field. And another where FoxMovieverse Cyclops' ghost possesses Richard White from Man of Steel, just because James Marsden played both characters. Neither are on Ao3 at the moment. I should really post them there with FFN in its death throes.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so. I hope not.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nopes.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have too many control issues to co-write anything.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I don't know if I have one favourite. I don't write them if I'm not utterly compelled by their chemistry.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
LeBeau, the third installation of my D'Ancanto series. It's not a even a WIP, really, more like a detailed outline but I don't know if I'm in that headspace any more. Even if I was, I remember thinking the outline needed such a major overhaul that I'd basically have to start all over again except the very last scene.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Possibly world-building? It's my favourite part anyway. Dialogue for certain characters.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm very verbose. That world-building thing. Also, sometimes I think I rush endings especially on the longer (> 50,000 word) fics
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Depends. Long conversations in another language, I just write in English with a comment somewhere in the beginning that it's in whatever language. Phrases or words that have no "English" translation, I'll put in said language with translations in the notes. Also, if the character tends to say those words/phrases in another language. I try my best to find a real person translator though I've started to learn a few languages trying to translate it myself.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Probably X-Men. Or the Anne of Green Gables books.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Oh my god! I don't have just one, it rotates a lot, and usually whichever one I'm working on is my fave. My current top 3 are:
The Pearl I Carry in My Heart : The world-building, political drama Nashuri I mentioned before
Cho Chang and the Jasmine Code : an HP fic about using magic based on other cultures not just Latin/Greek/British-based lore; specifically, Chinese magic which is based on calligraphy and music/tonality.
and, D'Ancanto : an gory whodunnit X-Men FoxMovieverse, post-X2, with Rogue/Marie D'Ancanto is a detective in the first police department where mutant cops solve crimes against or by other mutants.

I answered this in my head yesterday and forgot to do it for reals whoops!!
Who gets jealous the most?
Oh, for sure Clint. I think there’s always that little lingering self-doubt in his head that makes him wonder what the fuck Darcy is even doing with him and so of course he’d tend to the jealous side of things. I do think Darcy would be jealous too, though.
Who is an embarrassingly drunk dancer?
Both. Of. Them. They’re absolutely ridiculous. Clint has no issues making a fool of himself when he’s drunk (or any other time, really), but Darcy reaaaaaaally shines after one too many wine coolers. She’s like, the get up on a table and try to Dougie kind of dancer, but she can stay on beat pretty well.
Who still cries watching Titanic?
Darcy, who wails “I’ll never let go, Jack!” dramatically at the screen every damn time, and who scares Lucky when she yells at the lookout for not seeing the iceberg sooner.

Analyzing the hilarity potential of various fake marriage fics involving Darcy
Darcy x Steve: poor Steve is so awkward about showing affection, it takes a lot of patience and practice so he won’t look constipated during a supposed “romantic” date. It doesn’t help that he has a huge crush on Darcy and we all know how the poor man gets around women he likes!
Darcy x Johnny Storm: she’d be very annoyed about it and have to threaten him with tazing his balls if his hands start to wander, but she has to admit he can be very charming and kisses like a champ!
Darcy x Sam: They’d be halfway in love by the time the ruse was over and be teased endlessly about it by their friends. “If you’d just listened to me and let me set you up, you could have had this much sooner!” Natasha says.
Darcy x Bucky: She’d be really wishing Bucky’s sweet talk and smoldering glances were real! He’d be crushing hard and wishing he was halfway deserving of her.
Darcy x Tony: She’d be torn between wanting to hit him and wanting to tap that. Tony loves to provoke her by calling her Mrs. Stark.
