God-Controlled
Lately, I have been pondering the idea of self-control. It is something we hear often. Growing up, our parents taught us to practice self-control. As we get older, we are told to focus on having self-control. The older I get, the more I have realized that self-control is easier said than done, and I have finally figured out why.  What does it mean to have self-control? What comes to mind is the…

Jesus’ command - “Take up your cross and follow Me” is much more than a symbol of the difficulties, frustrations and pain we as humans experience in this life. Taking up one’ s cross and following Jesus is something completely different.
Because the cross was an instrument of death, Jesus is referring to our commitment to Him, even unto death, meaning that our obedience to the extreme measure and willingness to die is a vital part of truly being His disciple.
Death on a cross was extremely painful and humiliating, so as followers of Christ He expects us to likewise be willing to endure pain or humiliation for Him — no matter what the cost.
This word picture of 'taking up your cross' paints for us the concept of “death to self” which originates in another saying of Christ in Luke 9:24-25, “For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?” The truth is that NOTHING in this life is worth keeping if it means losing eternal life! Not a job, family, friends, or even your own identity. Discipleship at the core means DISCIPLINE — No Matter What The Cost — but the eternal reward is well worth the temporary pain.
Friend, taking up your cross to follow Christ simply means commitment and obedience to living a disciplined life of obedience to God even if it means giving up your worldly hopes, dreams, possessions - or even your very life if need be.
Christian, are you willing to Take Up That Cross?

Part 3 #Jesus #takeupyourcross #followme We’re not called to be appreciators of Jesus but FOLLOWERS of Jesus! So ask yourself: what is it worth to follow Jesus? He made the choice now: what will you choose? Jesus then concludes by saying, “If you’re too embarrassed to live for Me on earth, then you won’t live for Me in Heaven.” I can't follow Jesus without paying a price. Neither can you. Remember, Jesus didn’t sacrifice His life to make you miserable. He gave His life so you can access Salvation, Joy, unconditional Love, Peace! But He wouldn’t be a good Savior if He didn’t prepare you for the troubles coming ahead. Now what will you do? Give up your pleasures for Jesus or give up Jesus for pleasures? Both choices have consequences. Whether it’s good or bad is up to you. I pray you Choose wisely. Choose Christ. Be blessed & be a blessing! https://www.instagram.com/p/CeB3MPzOJyI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

With His help, let this be our resolve for 2024!
Then, calling the crowd to join His disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be My follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow Me. Mark 8:34 (NLT)

To walk with Jesus…
Tumblr media
When Jesus said to deny ourselves, to daily take up our crosses, and to follow Him, it wasn’t a suggestion, but a command.
If any man wishes to live for Christ, he’s going to have to lay down his own selfish ways, plans, ideas, and desires and take hold of what God wills for him. He’s going to have to humble himself, acknowledging his sins and actively live out a lifestyle of repentance. He’s going to have to die to himself every single day, surrendering each day to Jesus by crucifying/rejecting his own flesh. He’s going to have to follow Jesus wherever the Holy Spirit would lead him. He’s going to have to walk the strait and narrow faithfully, turning not to the left or to the right, keeping God’s Word in his heart (because it is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path [Psalms 119:105]). He’s going to have to put Jesus first in his home, in his life, and in his heart.
Luke 9:23-24 | KJV
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
How can we deny ourselves, take up our crosses every single day, and follow Jesus? Galatians 5:16-26, by walking in the Spirit. When we walk in the Spirit, we’re not gonna fulfill the lusts/deeds of the flesh. Not to say that we will be sinless and never give in to temptation, but our flesh will no longer have the dominion or rule over us. Saying no to and resisting the temptation to sin becomes a lot more easier as we produce and exercise our faith through self-control and discipline in Jesus Christ.

Indeed. We must understand that grace should come with repentance and repentance comes with forgiveness through Christ, and then following Him.

I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.- Psalm 16:8 #thecross Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me."- Matthew 16:24 #focusonjesus The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.- 1 John 2:17 #jesusfollowers Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.- Hebrews 12:1-2 #christfollowers 🔥Subscribe to my YouTube channel and podcast,👉🏾"Uplift Past Crossroads"👈🏾🔥 Befriend me on Facebook/LinkedIn = Sean Christopher Jenkins 🔥Follow👉🏾@troubledontlast 👈🏾IG/Twitter/Snap for more🔥 Turn on Post Notification - Like - Comment - Share - Save #repost @resident_intheheart_of_jesus ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ . . The way we exercise our bodies physically, we can consider analogous to spiritual growth. One core aspect of this involves starving our flesh and feeding our spirit. Whichever we pursue, we strengthen, and the opposing one we weaken. They are at odds with one another. When we resist temptation, we strengthen our spirit. We are reinforcing behavior that helps us persevere over sin by abiding in God and relying on the Holy Spirit's guidance. When we give into sin, we are feeding the flesh. It also makes it substantially more challenging to fight that sin in future battles. Repentance becomes harder to obtain if we grow less sensitive to the Holy Spirit in us and find it exceedingly permissible to allow a compromise in our lives. A seared conscience and a calloused heart only serve to impede our obedience. They fog up our judgment and discernment between right and wrong. To conquer the allures of the flesh, we need to submit to God rather than the desires of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. If we are not with God, we are against Him. We must repent from sinful behavior and continue to ask God for forgiveness whenever we fall short. Choose your side, take up your cross daily, and fight the good fight of faith today. #God #temptation #discernment #spirit #resist #repent #forgiven #takeupyourcross https://www.instagram.com/p/Cca9YtBu1kB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
