Eddie struggling to get some shut eye was nothing uncommon. it'd been like that ever since he was little. he'd still be up as his Uncle slept in the other room, thinking that his nephew had been tuckered out the whole time. but only to be pulled from his sleep when he heard the child, trying to be subtle with his steps.

so then from there on, Wayne made sure that he was well out before he left the room. He'd be stood by the frame, looking at Eddie, who would get himself under the sheets, and just look back at his Uncle with a 'what now.'

It was still settling in how Wayne now had a child. One he never expected but nonetheless, it wasn't something that went unwelcomed.

"Well, you get some shut eye, you hear? No more getting up...m'kay?"

Eddie would stare at him like 'that's it?'

He'd still be sitting up as Wayne would turn off the lights, and he just felt his nephews eyes on him even if he couldn't literally see him. Wayne would then slowly, with his hand on the handle of the door, pull it shut. And when it was, he would stand there for a few, leaning into it as he tried to listen for on the other side.

There'd be some shuffling, little utters, and then the sound of feet coming to the door but before it could open— Wayne would push at it— seeing the outline of his nephews unruly curls from the little lighting that was coming from the living room behind them.

"Couldn't sleep," was all that was said, as Eddie shrugged his shoulders and tilted his head as he looked up at the guy in front of him. That was that.

Wayne sighs, looking at his nephew before looking back behind him. Unsure of what to do while too, trying to see if there was something that could be done so that way he could put Eddie to sleep so he could get some himself.

"I see," Wayne would say while rubbing the scruff on his face, and then to the back of his neck. "Uhm, lets just sit over 'here then and wait it out." He said showing Eddie back into his room.

"Why not out there?" Eddie asked tipping his head towards the living room.

"Because that's my room. Don't need a little one taking over where I sleep because then where would I go, huh?"

Wayne wasn't expecting an answer to his question because well, it wasn't even one to begin with. He was just simply putting it out there but Eddie still answered.

"Next to me."

Those few and little words had Wayne looking to the child who had nudged himself close, as they seated themselves on Eddie's mattress. Eddie hadn't even been looking at Wayne when he said them, he was just sitting there, leaned into his Uncle's side.

"Hm, is that so?" Eddie tilted his head up, his curls moving as he did so, letting out a 'mhm.' Wayne lifted his brows, settling for the clear and only response given— almost as to say 'well okay then.'

They sat there not really saying much. Wayne leaned his head back, crossing his arms over his chest, as he shut his eyes, waiting out however long it would take until his nephew would tucker out.

Every so often gruffing out short words whenever Eddie asked a question. He wasn't even sure what the kid was saying but he responded with whatever he thought was proper.

He'd would be pulled from his little 'shut eye' though when he felt Eddie get up, standing over him as he stepped over, repeatedly.

The kid just wouldn't sit still, he'd frequently trip over his Uncle's knee and onto the mattress with a 'humph' before he would get up and keep going. Eddie got even more restless after a while, and Wayne wasn't sure what to do.

"How 'bout you tell me something, Uncle?" Eddie suggested, and Wayne sighed. What could he say? What should he say? He was no story teller but if it would get the kid to sleep, then so be it.

"What 'bout, huh?" And Eddie would shrug. Well, there goes that.

"Here." Eddie pushed himself from his spot and off the mattress, going over to the little shelf that Wayne had put together for him when he first got there. He took a book from it and trudged back to where his Uncle was, pushing the cover towards him as he pulled himself up once more.

Wayne put his glasses on, them resting on the lower of his nose and titled his head down to see the words of the title. It was something by Tolkien. Someone who, if it weren't for his nephew telling him, he wouldn't know.

Wayne licked his finger as turned to open page, finger under the line of words as he went but he hadn't got very far into it until Eddie spoke.

"You've got to do the voices, Uncle!" It wasn't a request, he was telling him. Urging him.

"The voices?" Wayne queried as he lifted a brow.

"Uh huh, like this." Eddie huffed and went to show his Uncle how it's done. Wayne's mouth curling up at the kid's well done representation.

"Oh, I see." It wasn't really Wayne's thing, but for the kid that was leaning into him, anything.

Eddie's nose scrunched at his Uncle's try, chuckling as he heard a voice that sounded off but still nonetheless, listened to.

it was a while until Eddie's eyes shut. Wayne pulling himself from under his nephew, trying not to wake him. Rubbing a few of the curls out of the way that were in Eddie's forehead before he turned to leave, not fully shutting the door.

When Wayne woke up, he wasn't by himself like he was used to. Because there before him at the very very side of the little pull out, was Eddie.

And like he had told his Uncle just hours before, he was right there next to him. Little had Wayne known that at the time, the kid was really telling him how it would be in the later years.

With Wayne next to Eddie.

Every step of the way.

CRIMINAL MINDS: EVOLUTION

S17 SPOILERS.

It has been confirmed by my lovely friend @foxy-eva that the English Subtitles in the Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 16 Finale, as posted by Amazon Prime in Germany, reveal the person who opens the door.

The subtitles indicate that it is, in fact, Spencer Reid. The exact line is:

“Dr. Reid. Well, wasn’t expecting you.”

It’s very possible that this was just a possible line, which Elias’ actor was recorded saying for one of many optional reveals. But, the claim about the subtitles is true. They are there.

Yep, I’ve seen at least 4 completely different recordings that all show the exact same thing. Also, my friend @foxy-eva did confirm it (paid a whole €3 for it). I trust her. She wouldn’t lie.

Below I will post a very clear photo of the text that reveals who opens the door. The image includes a reflection on the computer screen, also from (yet another) Twitter. It’s definitely there.

It is, however, ONLY on the German version, English subtitles, on Amazon Prime. You won’t see it anywhere else. It was clearly a mistake.

Also, again, PLEASE BE DISCREET IF YOU REPLY. Don’t be a spoilsport.

We’ll see what happens… Gubler was asked by a fan very recently if he was returning and he “didn’t say no.” Erica Messer has also been dodging questions by saying it’s “not her promise to make.”

On Deuxmoi (a gossip column who accepts most anonymous posts), some time ago, someone entered the following UNVERIFIED information.

This could just be a fangirl. Gubler specifically has had several false reports on the page. But, I will note that, when talk of the reboot was happening last year, Gubler did visit Gibson.

I wish the showrunners would just be honest with us. This guessing is just frustrating.

But, oh well. I’ll be watching regardless 🤷🏻‍♀️

Filming begins in April, so we’ll see what happens.
