It's been way too long since I sent this ask BUT--

Fav tropes in fanfic: ...I don't know either. I like nonhuman/alterhuman characters and characteristics, especially in a fantasy/sci-fi setting--I like exploring the biology and cultural/psychological possibilities, ykno? I also really like exploring interesting underdeveloped villains, how their brain works. Even, maybe especially, if they're really bad. "Why do people do bad things?" is a question with endless answers.

Bonus least fav tropes: boring modern AUs, coffee shop AUs, traditional romance, making a character OOC in order to fit into a predetermined (and often amato/heteronormative) idea of what romance or relationships in general "should" look like....I'm kind of a hipster, to be honest--I almost always end up hating/disliking the most popular ships in whatever spaces, in part because they're popular, because with popularity comes shallow interpretations *gags*

Bonus: my least favorite trope (that's just a pet peeve and not like. Racism or smth serious) is probably seeded earth, where the earth is holding something that was planted there by aliens. Like in the Eternals movie and in hitchhiker's Guide (I love hitchhiker's don't get me wrong, just a thing I didn't like)

I've reported a work for mistagging (and being a placeholder), and let me tell you what they told me: Ao3 only monitors fandom tags this way. Ao3 Support will not handle cases of mistagged ships or characters, as long as the fandom tags are correct. (I assume that this is because of how hard it can be to verify that a certain character or ship is or is not actually in the work if the person handling the case isn't familiar with the fandom.) If that annoying fic has all its fandom tags right, your report won't achieve anything. You'll have to find other ways to address it, like the muting mentioned previously, or even reaching out to the authors to kindly inform them that Ao3 is an archive, not an algorithm-driven social media site, and that mistagging is both against TOS and disrespectful to readers and to other users of Ao3 in general.

nothing pisses me off more than when i see a fic on ao3 talking about reach. "this ship isn't here but i added them for reach" "this fandom tag isn't necessary but i'm adding it for reach" "reposting for reach" STOP IT!!!! this is not tiktok this is not twitter this is an ARCHIVE this is not how it works!!!

Good storytelling, especially good storytelling that surprises me. I recently watched Revolutionary Girl Utena for the first time and am in the middle of a group rewatch, and it's incredible to pick out all the subtle bits of foreshadowing and symbolism I didn't pick up on the first time around. In addition, I poked at a game I saw someone else play, which I won't name because this is supposed to be a SFW blog lol, that handles a lot of its bigger themes--specifically things like the negative effects of colonialism, paternalism, and the like--much better and more thoughtfully than I honestly expected it to.

Somehow I don't think Kozue's struggle to try to meet the standards Miki's whole 'musical genius' thing would be nearly as devastating personally as Miki being in Kaoru "Weaponized Sexuality" Kozue's place

Touga in Nanami's body overhearing Keiko thirsting after him would be kinda funny (and sad). Nanami in Touga's body being called in to Akio's room would be Horrific and Awful and someone would die.

Juri and Saionji probably wouldn't do a whole lot in each other's bodies, but Saionji finding out about The Locket and being actually honest (or "honest") with Shiori would be something to see. I have no idea what Juri would do/find in Saionji's body though (feels like we don't know enough about Saionji's everyday life for that)

oh jesus fuck wakaba finding out about what the duels are Really like in the worst way possible. later she teams up with nanami for Murder Purposes

Nanami and Juri attempting desperately to live each other's lives oh my god. Nanami trying to keep up Juri's straight face and detached demeanor, and Juri--well tbh Juri probably would just go straight to Nanami in her body and do the Sensible Thing of taking both herself and Nanami somewhere secret until they manage to figure out how to switch back, but oh lord if she didn't. if she didn't have the chance. they talk about it after the whole thing's over and nanami's like "juri why are you living in an angsty lesbian gothic tragedy" and juri's like "nanami why are you living in a surrealist horror comedy". i feel like touga would realize and say nothing, and miki might notice something's weird but he's too self-absorbed to realize or investigate, but saionji would definitely notice something's up if he interacts with juri-in-nanami's-body for an extended period of time

(saionji: "nanami are you okay?? you've been acting kinda reserved today, are you sick? did you eat something weird? did someone say something mean? did you not sleep enough?" juri internally: what the fuck what is this why is saionji being nice)

oh god saionji in anthy's body. and anthy in saionji's body, getting to take out her anger in a much more physical and direct way than normal cuz saionji already has a Reputation. anthy's indulging all her darkest desires and saionji is trying desperately not to blow up and failing utterly. at one point anthy absolutely recreates the abuse saionji laid on her. good lord

shiori would absolutely and specifically ruin juri's reputation. unless finding The Locket changes her mind. but it probably doesn't let's be honest. and then juri in shiori's body, probably failing utterly to keep up the 'sweet innocent girl' mask that shiori puts on all the time

you also mentioned touga and anthy in the tags but also that they'd basically cancel out and like...yeah. utena notices that anthy's acting a little colder/more haughty than normal and nanami and maybe saionji notice that touga's acting a little more demure and humble than normal but they fool anyone who isn't paying attention and they also tell no one and nothing changes. net zero cataclysmic event like you said
