I assume this is about Roman and Mencken. And, like I said, it doesn't really matter because I don't think that's the reason Roman is riding so hard for him. Like, it's funny to joke around and say "lol, Roman picked this guy because he wanted to fuck him" but that's not actually why he picked Mencken and the show will make sense whether he's sleeping with him or not (though I personally think sex would add an interesting layer). But I also don't think that Roman is suddenly so into politics because he's drunk the fascist koolaid either. Mencken represented a business opportunity and an opportunity to beat Shiv last season, that was clear. What is unclear to me is when he became more than that for Roman and why.
And, honestly, I think what the show is getting at is that Mencken as candidate for president is a lot like Roman as a candidate for CEO (and, therefore, for Logan's love). Mencken is a dark horse pick from outside the political establishment with no real experience (or even real point of view) but a ton of charisma. And that's basically who Roman is as well (except that, of course, Roman is a genuinely empathetic person where Mencken isn't, and that's where Roman's likability comes from, but Roman doesn't understand that yet). And that's the personal connection, that's why he wants Mencken to win, because he's projecting onto him. If Mencken wins president, it means that guys like Roman do belong in leadership positions and that he deserved Logan's love and he isn't broken, etc, etc.
(Again, I think Mencken being secretly "disgusting" like Roman would add another great layer, but it doesn't have to be there).
Anyway, I think 3x09 escalated these feelings (because Logan rejected his love), and then Roman getting to know Mencken more over time cemented their sameness in his mind. But. The show hasn't shown us any of that. And I think that's a mistake, I don't think people are going to understand it. I think they're going to assume that Roman just wants to be like Mencken and the fascists because he's an edgelord and thinks misogyny is cool or something. And the fascism is important, it's a part of it, but I'm just worried it'll swallow up Roman's actual motivation and it's important that it doesn't.

Listening to what Logan is saying in the preview, I would bet anything that this is the first time he's addressing ATN since news of the buyout dropped. And he's assuring ATN (with footage of their fascist nominee playing in the bg) that no one will get fired and nothing will change except that things will be meaner and bigger and better, etc, etc.
And the kids are all there together seeing their father give a speech that they know is bs. But Logan seems to believe every word. They're seeing behind the gaslighter's curtain, they're realizing how full of shit their dad actually is.
So it's actually really good that they look sad (well...at least Kendall and Shiv do). It means Logan's influence is wearing off. The bright, juvenile colors are behind them, something they've believed in since childhood is truly dying. This season will likely be Logan's last in every way possible.
Connor and Roman are both still wearing Logan's blue, which means that they're buying it more than Kendall and Shiv are. But there are stripes in Roman's blue. Does he believe Logan or does he just feel that even if Logan is wrong, no one can successfully oppose him so it doesn't matter? They might as well play their roles just to support their clearly delusional father. Idk. But I'm so excited to find out.

You know, I notice how Shiv's relationships with Tom and Kendall seem to go up and down in inverse proportion to one another, and given that she and Tom might end the show in a somewhat reconciled place (for now) I am pretty excited to see how crazy the hostility between her and Ken goes. 👀

This illustration is tied to an idea I came up with @kalm5, after I binge watched videos about various vending machines.
The explanation of the premise is under the cut/read more!

What if clones have only a set amount of meals per rotation? no snacks, no nothing - just the basic, the most effective meals evenly spread out throughout the day. It’s the only food they have. The only unlimited food item available to them without restriction is water... just plain water.
However, there are vending machines scattered throughout every Kamino training facility that can be used by clones for additional snacks (or even more “luxurious” items such as salt/sugar/spices, better grade chocolate, authentic caff/tea, weak beer/alcohol, etc.). The vending machines also have limits of items a clone can get per rotation to limit potential abuse of the system.
The availability of such items is depended on the status quo and performance score each clone has and develops over the years (the score is stored at the forearm chip, so to use a vending machine clones have to swipe their wrists against it’s panel) - the bigger the score the broader assortment of items are available.
Cadets get their points based on their exam scores, battle simulation statistics, etc.
The score clones got in their youth are later transferred as a base score at the beginning of their military career.
The success rate, performance on the field, getting medals, etc. is later added to it - raising it. It also can be lowered due to misdemeanors, refusal to carry on orders, breaking rules, etc.
Despite all CT-[numbers] clones having the same baseline of items available, there are variations or perks for each occupation: medics get different additional assortment of items than sappers, who have different perks than gunners, pilots and so on.
Maintenance staff has the same limitations as cadets. So 99 has the same level-access to goods as kids/teens, thus he can get like... Star Wars equivalent of stale salted crackers, granola bars and juice.
A major points boost is a promotion to higher military rank - especially to commanding position or high preference variants like ARCs or spec-ops (it unlocks more options)
The biggest availability, however, have CC-[numbers] clones.
Some of the perks are just simply locked behind a status quo. So even an perfect behavior and 100% success rate wouldn’t give a “plain” CT-number access to for example... alcoholic beverages - it’s only for CC-[numbers]. CC-[numbers] also can be locked out of certain perks if their score gets low enough.
The best example would be captain Rex who despite being a commanding officer can’t get the same items as his college, commander Cody. Due to Rex being a CT-number. So it’s always a bit awkward when he tags along with other commanding officers but he can get an energy drink or black coffee at best.

Funnily enough, of all software at Kamino, nothing is so well guarded as vending machines - it’s unhackable while the vending machines are borderline indestructible. It’s the most frequently updated/modified equipment due to clones always finding loopholes to cheat the system.
The origin of the vending machines was that Kaminoans tried to use the idea of conditioned response to encourage clones to train harder and be more obedient in the field - they hoped it would rewire clones brains, linking high performance with luxurious goods.
However what the long necks didn’t accounted for is that clones are well... humans and turned vending machines to social interaction that has an internal structure known only to clones. one of such interaction is that many clones with high performance score would often get items to those with lowered ones - especially at 501st where thinking outside the box is preferable military tactic by their general, thus many clones from 501st would end up with low performance score at Kamino framework despite being the most decorated of soldiers.
The same goes with Clone Force 99 who have 100% success rate, but also accumulated many misdemeanors and complaints.

Hey! I recently found your succession theories that link Kendall and Rose together, and I think that they are brilliant. It got me thinking that the thing that links them could possibly be that Kendall (and therefore Rose) are autistic. After grieving the death of his autistic sister (that he blames himself for) where we don’t know what happened, but I think that Logan may have institutionalized her before and she died there which is why Logan blames himself.
This would also be around the 1960’s when new (and mainly incorrect) studies surrounding autism were released claiming that it could be “cured” with the right schools and work to make a child “normal” early on. Similar attitudes carry on into the 1980’s when Kendall is born, and Logan thinks that he can fix his son. These attitudes Logan shows also plays into how Logan talks/interacts with Iverson, who is heavily autistic coded.

Hi! Thank you for your kind words, anon! And I'm so sorry it took me a a couple of days to get to this one – I've just been swallowed up by end of year work things.
I think that's a really interesting theory, especially given the show seems to be pretty clearly signalling that Iverson's autistic, like you said. Logan's exchange with Kendall in both the thanksgiving episode where he tries to dictate how Kendall parents Iverson and in 3.08 where he asks him if he's 'getting better' as if Iverson's autism is a sickness feels like a clear indicator as to his thoughts around autism generally (and like you said, the idea that it could be 'cured'), but I also think the shot where he hits Iverson is an interesting one to consider too.
I've always read this blocking as telling us about Kendall's childhood in the sense of domestic violence – the framing of Kendall immediately behind his son is a neat visual shorthand of creating a flashback without actually using a flashback. He could almost be looking at a memory, and he reacts viscerally and quickly in a very similar way as to when Logan hits Roman in 2.06.
In that sense, I think it also creates this interesting link between Kendall and Iverson more broadly, particularly when you consider the beat with Lego earlier in the episode. Lego is something that helps Iverson with his transition between houses, and in the scene in 1.05, Rava holds the box but doesn't play, while Iverson and Kendall's actions mirror each other:
Kendall plays like his son does, which on it's own is an interesting tidbit, but what makes it more fascinating to me is the show brings it up again through Roman two episodes later when Kendall's going through a pretty big transition of his own in the aftermath of the failed coup in 1.06.
Of course, it can be read as a throwaway joke, but I think there's a really strong argument to be made that it's furthering the connection we're supposed to read between Kendall and Iverson, and how we're supposed to see Iverson's needs as Kendall's needs too. To tie it to Rose is a really interesting connection as well, and especially given autism was viewed as a form of schizophrenia through to the 1980s, it really compliments the connection to Rosemary Kennedy and Rose Williams too!

Meanwhile I jumped in to another old save game (there are a few old posts under the cut) I had and played a bit for some fun and to see how it looked now with better specs. So here are Johnny Z and his mother Bunny Z (I mashed up Johnny Bravo and Johnny Zest ;)). I’ve played Johnny from toddler to young adult (it’s just a few days after his birthday). He has mastered the fitness skill already (started working on it as a teen) and is now working in the athlete career, while his momma works in the culinary career.
I’m thinking about what to do next with Johnny now that he’s still in his early young adult days. Mastering his current career (don’t know which branch yet) and aspiration (leader of the pack, and he has already mastered the bodybuilder) of course, and perhaps also mastering the wellness, dancing, bowling and charisma skills. He needs the charisma skill for his career anyway. And of course trying his luck with the ladies. ;) He did already had some succes at his YA birthday and he has a few love interests now (getting into the Partihaus club helped with that - flirting with (now adult aged) ‘cougars’ Eva and Jade). I could also play him whimacy style, by just focussing on his whims and trying to fulfill them. But that will be for another time, first I want to complete the Get to Work gameplay with the Abbotts.

Which growlight do you have? In summer my succs get plenty of light outdoors but I need to get them indoors for winter and i've found an LED light with 8000kelvin but 'only' 1300 lumen. Would that work?
I have a VIPARSPECTRA 300W LED light. The Kelvin looks great for your light, the Lumens should ideally be 2000lu so 1300 is a bit less. If you had two of the lights that would make up for it, though! There's a few other specs i like to look at, like Wattage and PAR values, but not all lights come with all the information i like knowing about. If you can find any youtube reviews of the light sometimes they give more information that they test themselves, especially if the light is often used for marijuana (like mine can be used for but is on the low end, but is a good starting light).

Tbh, in my ideal ending, Roman gets out of WR and starts his own thing (possibly with Gerri) but I actually think there is a distinct possibility that Roman not only ends up back in but also ends up being the pick for CEO. Here's why.
As Frank pointed out in 4x04, Logan was CEO for so long because he started the company. The board didn't really have a choice. Logan held all of the power (and even when he didn't, he intimidated people into thinking he did). His leadership style was despotic but that worked based on how he came into power - starting WR was a dogfight. He trained his children (particularly Kendall and Shiv) to understand and take power accordingly.
However, the kids' situation is different - even if they want to "take" power, they can't because the board is voting for CEO. And that begs the question - will the board really want to empower a despot like Logan or will they be looking for a leader who is more...collaborative?
Succession is about hunger for power, more than anything. Obviously, Logan's style of leadership brought in a lot of money (and Kendall will likely remind the board of that) but it didn't allow anyone but Logan to have much power. If the board is voting on CEO, I think that there is a distinct possibility that they're going to pick someone who allows the board to hold onto as much power as possible and who will serve their interests, rather than a tyrant.
In 2x05, Nan Pierce only insisted on Shiv being CEO after Shiv fucked up at dinner. She claimed it was because Shiv was a woman with Pierce's political views, but it was really because Shiv was clearly green, impetuous, and easy to control, and Nan's family planned on retaining board seats. Nan knew that Shiv would be easy to manipulate and she was right - Shiv proved it in 4x01 with that 10 billion dollar offer. I think there was a reason Succession reminded us of the Pierce deal from 2x05 in episode 1, despite Pierce playing little role in the season overall. It was to remind us that people don't like to cede power when they don't have to.
For these reasons, I think it's possible that Roman's show of "weakness" at the funeral (indeed, his shows of "weakness" over the course of the show) could actually give him an advantage with the board over Kendall and Shiv. In an ironic twist, losing everything to become Logan might backfire spectacularly for Shiv and Kendall because the board simply may not want to replace one tyrant with another. Particularly if a non-family member of the board (Gerri) is guaranteed a position of direct influence over the new CEO if the CEO is Roman.
(And yes, it's in Gerri's best interest to continue working with Roman. She doesn't trust Kendall or Shiv. She doesn't quite trust Roman, but she knows him, his strengths and his weaknesses. And Roman listens to her (as recently as 4x07, he wanted advice), so with Roman in charge, she has influence. Additionally, with Roman out, her retirement leverage vanishes - Kendall may be willing to let her release the dickpics and sue Roman; Shiv would definitely let her do it. No hundreds of millions for Gerri and she's in court for however long Roman can afford to be. Better to stay in power and then cash out with her own narrative in a few years).

Idk who is older Iverson or Sophie... But what do you think Kendal's and his siblings' reaction were to that child ? What was Logan's reaction? Did Caroline come to USA or did she just call or not even that ?
That's such an interesting question, anon!
I'm perpetually fascinated by the fact that Kendall's the only one of them to have kids, although I probably shouldn't be. The show's done such a good job in the sense of carving out different ideas of family and parenthood in the four of them that I think it makes sense that Shiv wouldn't want to be a mother due to having spent her entire life trying to scrap for independence and survival in a man's world, and Connor, especially after s3, wouldn't want to be a father because he felt he'd already done it with the golden trio.
This might be controversial, I'm not sure (and I'd genuinely love to hear other people's takes on this), but of the four of them, I think Kendall and Roman are probably the only ones who want kids. Kendall's a bad dad, clearly, haha, but I do think he wants them and that he loves them as best he can, and I think Roman deep down wants a family of his own but between his fear of failure, personal and familial insecurities, aversion to penetrative sex and general flightiness, it's just not something that's eventuated.
More to your point though, I do think Sophie and Iverson are supposed to be close in age.
It's an interesting thing to consider because while the show's never explicitly said it, Sophie does seem to be adopted, and given how young Kendall and Rava were when they got married (Roman says Ken's bachelor party was 15-ish years ago in 3.04, making Kendall roughly 24/25) and the fact that Sophie and Iverson are probably roughly 12/13 in the show, it seems like they had them pretty quickly.
We don't know what any of that looks like, of course, but I tend to headcanon that Kendall and Rava had been trying for a year or so, and when they didn't get pregnant right away, decided to adopt. When they started that process - the pressure off - they got pregnant naturally and decided to keep both the pregnancy and the adopted child. It's something I think is more common than people realise (it's what happened both with my cousins, and with a co-worker, and I've heard it anecdotally happening elsewhere too), and I can absolutely see Kendall getting swept up in the rapid expansion of a family and going all in, haha.
As for the rest of the family, I think the responses would've been really mixed! I do think Logan would've been pleased – it furthers his legacy after all, and I suspect it probably gave the impression that Kendall was 'settling down' and 'growing up' in a way that might've curbed the concern around Kendall's partying. Given Kendall's a guy too, I don't think Logan would expect parenthood to have the same sort of impact on him that he would of Shiv.
Caroline it's harder to tell, but I imagine there was a lot of pomp around it. Her family legacy is already cemented, but new additions to that I imagine require a degree of ceremony too. I can see her goading Kendall and Rava into bringing the kids back to England for baptisms, which if you read Rava as Jewish (which I do) was probably the source of a lot of drama.
And Shiv, Roman and Connor! Oh gosh, hahahaha. I think they would've been happy for him on the one hand, but mostly kind of disturbed that he was now a father, haha, especially if he was in his mid-to-late twenties when he had them. It must've been such a weird time in general, but with the added disaster of their parents, Kendall's addiction issues, and just how young the golden trio were - - look, just thank goodness for nannies, haha.
