Armored x Magic girls ‘title forever work in progress’ series 8
we kinda forgot about earth and now it's finally time go back to where the series started.
the enemies now are a different group of aliens. they were more like space pirates so they were never on good terms with og alien enemies but they made a deal now with them and will use their past hostility to lure the professor to a meting but the deal was and as they've heard how og alien boss has no intentions of invading earth the deal is they get the earth and start a business as earth is rich in materials in exchange og aliens want armors. so professor was tricked but his spaceship takes off as one more person was secretly on it (but we don't see who) and eventually crashes after being chased. that's all we know.
on earth this aliens are like gangsters and this scene happens during night some women breaks into a house, she finds a weird device but the cops are there, she triggered an alarm but the desk also had a gun and she now uses it as a distraction for her escape. on the way back to her apartment she sees her sister waiting for her outside, she was there to tell her all about this break in she heard from her boyfriend cop because our girl is actually a reporter but looking at her she can tell who was responsible for the break in. as she confronts her in the alley she is murdered and the killer is so amused by it. the device reporter took was traceable and this guy decides to toy with her even reveling his real alien face. he forgot all about the device as he decides to let her go because he wants to see what will she do now as she has to live with the burden of her actions will she coward or seek revenge. as the device was traceable another person show up afterwards a really old person and he is no friend of this aliens, they took this device from his master and invites her on the path of vengeance.
a new cop joined the force but will have a rude realization about this city. it's corrupt completely now her partner means well in this place you either swim with the flow and take your cut or ignore it as there is no other ways. when later alone in her car she sees a mugger robing an old lady she starts chasing him but the mugger was killed by some shadow entity and then the shadow entity was destroyed by a wizard with a grey goat beard and a big diamond on the cane hehe. then on her way back she finds out her car was stolen by a dude dressed as a old lady. then at her apartment she finds out she was robed because her keys were in the car. then as she exits the building boom og armored girls are fighting a monster as big as an elephant (oh hey the hawk has an armor now lol) and she shouts I hate this city.
some time later (not in the story but on the calendar) this mysterious solo new armored girl is giving cops the headache as "honest" people are being targeted. cops are determinant to stop her and none more so then the good cop forced to ignore the bigger picture. but as if we have seen this before somewhere *cough* she bumps into the now ex reporter and while the reporter is all nice to her she hates every second of it because her secret identity and this cop are sworn enemies but also her niceness is just making the cop coming back.
later (in the story) a new cop shows up, some guy. why is this important. unsuspecting details. like as he is walking and talking he passes some women walking in the other direction. as he is siting on a bench some women passes by. nothing weird about that just normal day to day behavior in movie terms you can say extras are just doing their job. except it's the same blond woman in a business suit. as this cop ends up fighting a really strong alien towards the finale this unsuspecting detail will enter the big stage but the cop is shouting telling her to stop "she can't know you're here" and that really old man shows up shooting at the alien also telling her to stop as the alien is killed by magic but it was.. grey goatee diamond wizard and now this women whose face we can't see backs away but what the heck was this about.
as the finale is here the cop will have to find out the identity of mysterious armor girl and as she does she decides to let her go but this reporter is having none of it as this could hurt this cop in other ways so she pulls the act, we were never friends i hated every second pretending as she eventually shoots the stubborn cop that wants to let her go in the shoulder and escapes. THE END.

One of the most heart-wrenching things that've ever happened to me occurred while trying to research the Super Paper Mario art style.
"Ohh what a beautiful and interesting art style! It is very distinctive! I wonder if anyone else has tried or wanted to try breaking it down and replicating it?" Obliviously, I typed in Super Paper Mario Art Style into my search bar... only to find many people calling it ugly and saying they hate it.
This simply could not be... permanent damage was done to my artistic soul.
No joy? No whimsy in this world? No love of early computer graphics? Of the art that was born from the computer and is difficult to replicate without one? Of the art made when this was something new and fascinating? No love for something unique?
Super Paper Mario don't listen to all those haters I love your geometric art style influenced by what shapes are easily drawn on a computer and the smooth mechanical interpolation within your animations. I love you. Also the music is banger.

ANATOMY OF A FALL (2023) dir. Justine Triet ↳ You leave Daniel out of the game here. This is not about Daniel. I do not impose anything on Daniel. You made us live here among the goats. You complain about the life that you chose! You're not a victim. Not at all! Your generosity conceals something dirtier and meaner. You're incapable of facing your ambitions and you resent me for it. But I'm not the one who put you where you are. I've nothing to do with it! You're not sacrificing yourself, as you say. You choose to sit on the sidelines because you're afraid! Because your pride makes your head explode before you can even come up with a little germ of an idea! And now you wake up and you're 40 and you need someone to blame, and you're the one to blame! You're petrified by your own fucking standards and your fear of failure. This is the truth. You're smart. I know you know I'm right. And Daniel has nothing to do with it. Stop it!

recontextualizing this story through the lens of buck/eddie and what it means for them, is like. it's so interesting because recently, i got an anon that asked me (paraphrasing) if i thought 9-1-1 would actually "go there" with buck and eddie as individuals, and that three main characters discovering their queerness would be "too much" for the general audience. and, like, not withstanding that it's actually true to life — that queer people can and do naturally gravitate toward each other even when we aren't out / passing / aware of our sexualities at the time — it's also just like. the belief (or disbelief) that 911 wouldn't "go there" with their stories also comes with this inherent assumption that there's only one way to tell a queer discovery story.
like. when michael came out in season 1, he was already at the end of his journey. he had already walked through the self-hate and forced closeting and came out on the other side to self acceptance. when we meet michael, he is a queer man, a gay man (because the word is important), who has already stepped into self actualization and is ready to live his truth. this is not the story 911 is telling with buck.
and then with eddie, you have this character that is introduced with the idea of being perfect, as ryan said, of having it all together, only for the audience to realize he's not. only for the audience to realize that he's broken and cracked on the inside and that a lot of it stems from war. but most of it? most of it doesn't. most of it stems from his father, and from how he was raised. raised to shut it down, to swallow things whole even if they hurt, even if they make him bleed. he was told to keep it all quiet, repress repress repress. and so. i know this is an unpopular opinion, but to that end, i don't think an explicit queer discovery storyline is necessary for him, in the sense that, subtextually, i think it's already happened. season 5 was very much eddie's unrepression arc. we dug deep into the things that make eddie diaz, eddie diaz. and a lot of that was war. violence. chaos."warzones are my thing." but if that was all that his arc was meant to be, why have it end with a conversation with his father? they could have played that arc out in so many different ways.
for one, they could have had mills still be alive. they could have had her and eddie reconnect. they could have had her and eddie have a conversation where she shoulders some of the weight that eddie's been putting on himself and have him settle into the peace of the realization that he's not alone in this specific thing, that he never has been, that other people survived what he did and that he can find solace in them. but the writers didn't do that. they took it back to his childhood, to the root of where eddie diaz began and they said, this is where you need to go. this is what you need to address before you can heal and move on. so that conversation with his dad that culminated in him choosing wellness, in him choosing happiness, in him choosing safety in his body for himself has very much always read to me as queer acceptance even if not explicit (due to the assumed barriers that were placed on that story at the time).
eddie has always been with women, eddie has always liked being with women, so i'd be shocked if he's ever even thought about the nuances of his sexuality. but his unrepression in season 5, to me, has always made him open to the possibility of falling into whatever comes next, whatever that looks like.
this is also not the story they're telling with buck.
(as a side note, i'd just like to say that queer subtext is still queer existence. subtext is how our stories have been told for generations, well before we were able to take up space on the page, and subtext is still a wholly valid and beautiful way of telling a queer story. please don't forget that).
so then, finally, we get to buck, and he's so very new at this. so very green he may as well be a blade of grass on a country club golf course. and so, despite the fact that there have already been two queer storylines prior, this is the first time in 9-1-1 (and tv!) history, that we have ever gotten to see an unplanned queer character discover who he is at this intimate, detailed level. we get to see buck's story unfold in real time, we get to learn about who this actualized version of himself is, as he is realizing it, and we get to know and dissect the layers and nuances, the ebbs and flows of his sexuality as he's taking himself apart and seeing what's underneath.
friends. this is the story they've always needed to tell.
and so, when i think about buck and eddie, and i think about their progression toward a romantic relationship and what that would look like, realistically and in the eyes of the audience, buck has really always been the missing key. we've talked about it before — who he is, who he was, has in no way been ready for eddie on multiple levels. whether it was because of his insecurity, his lack of place in the world, etc, buck has always been (for lack of a better word) too immature for eddie. eddie is a single father. he doesn't have time to play games, and though he will always love and reassure buck when he needs it, he doesn't have time to heal buck for him. nor should he. so buck was the only one who canonically, canonically, needed to be yanked from point a to point z.
and. it's like everyone's said, even before the season began — buck has been on a hamster wheel, buck has been stuck in a rut, yadda yadda yadda, which means that, as far as the audience was concerned, what always was for buck (women) is what always would have been. and there was nothing in canon, nothing concrete to disprove them from believing so. so we needed him to fall into something, not just radical, but sometime new.
and when i think about buck, and when i think about eddie, and when i think about their stories both as individuals and together, buck has, realistically, been the only real stopping point. at least with eddie, when the time is right and buck/eddie go canon, we, the audience, can go back in time and we can look at the way he came into himself and settled into his identity as a person, as a man, and say, like, oh okay, this is the moment. you know? we don't need the writers to take our hands and guide us through the same processes buck is experiencing because eddie's already had his ah moment, he's already experienced the moment where he decides that his life and his needs and his joy and his liberation are just as beautiful and valuable and worthy like everyone else's.
so when people ask, like, "would 9-1-1 really go there with three queer discovery arcs?" it's just like. well yes. they already have. we've already there. in fact, we're well into the third and final act. buck, eddie, and the audience, are almost ready — as in, actively ready — for each other. and yes, sure, even after the meat of this arc has passed, there will still be some things buck and eddie need to learn — specifically, they will need to learn that, not only do they have feelings for each other, but that feelings for each other is actually an option — but. for all intents and purposes, this is the crescendo before the final chord. this is it. and the thought that we've been here, that we've witnessed these three beautiful queer storylines unfold with these three beautiful characters (two of which are gentle, loving, present men of color) makes me entirely too emotional for words. tbh.

Plus One (Lena goes to Barry's wedding)
“I have to attend this friend’s wedding…” Kara said shyly. “Do you want to be my plus one?”
Lena glanced over, feeling a small blush creep up her cheeks. Where is this going?, she thought hopefully. “Sure,” Lena replied.
“It’s, uh- so my friend’s a superhero. It’s on another Earth. If you’re comfortable with that,” Kara said.
… there are other Earths? I can go to another Earth?! “Wow,” Lena said, “You really do know all the superheroes.”
Kara smiled awkwardly. “Feel free to think about it.”
“I’ll go,” Lena said. “I’d love to see another Earth.”
---------
Two things were true.
One, Lena was extremely annoyed that Kara had carried her away from the fight - abandoning her on a nearby roof - when the attack in the church first broke out.
Two, Lena was kicking herself. Of course Kara Danvers is Supergirl.
---------
“I can take you home. I don’t want you to get caught up in this,” Kara said, glancing over at Lena.
“I’d rather stay,” Lena said, as she glanced around STAR Labs. “I might be useful.”
“In hand-to-hand combat-”
“I can take care of myself.”
Kara glanced over, as Lena crossed her arms and met Kara’s gaze. “Okay,” Kara relented. “You can stay. But you need to stay here with Iris and Felicity-”
“We found them,” Oliver shouted at Kara, “Let’s go.”
Kara nodded, as Lena tried to get her attention. “Kara, wait-”
“I’ll be back soon,” Kara said, as she left.
---------
Kara’s body ached as she struggled against the power-dampening collar wrapped around her neck. She glanced towards Barry and Oliver, seeing the worry in their eyes as Sara barked back at their nazi captors, as Jax and Stein struggled fruitlessly against their bindings.
Her heart raced as she stared at her doppelganger, wondering how long it would be before her heart was pounding in a different chest instead. I should’ve taken Lena back to Earth-38, she thought to herself, if she ends up stranded on Earth-1…
“Let me go!” came a voice, shouting.
Kara’s face snapped to her right, where she saw one of the masked soldiers dragging in a familiar brunette. No no no, Kara though, Lena-
“She was found lurking outside,” the guard said, throwing Lena to the floor. Lena’s hands were tied in front of her, another powercuff collar around her neck. Lena glanced up at Kara.
This is my fault, she’s going to die because of me, Kara panicked. But there was something oddly unsettling about Lena’s expression - a calm that didn’t make sense. Lena shuffled off the ground, throwing Kara a damn wink, which confused Kara enough that she almost didn’t notice Lena’s hands beginning to glow.
“What’s happening?” Kara’s nazi counterpart demanded, as the bindings around everyone’s wrists and necks disappeared.
“Oh,” Lena said, with a slight smirk as she rose off the ground. “Powercuffs don’t affect witches.”
The other heroes jumped again to their feet, Oliver grabbing at his arrows, Jax and Stein becoming Firestorm again. Lena turned towards Overgirl. “I wonder if magic affects evil kryptonians.”
---------------------------------------------------------------
This started off as a 9-word story for the recent ask game, but then I got carried away? The original was:
Lena’s hands began to glow. “Powercuffs don’t stop witches.”

Kung Lao's birthday 14/04
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His Lore in MKATUS
Kung Lao hailed from humble beginnings, born into a struggling family where he stood as the eldest among his two siblings. The burden of their financial hardships grew heavier with the arrival of his youngest brother. To alleviate their plight, Kung Lao was sent to train as a novice at the Shaolin Temple, where he forged a lifelong bond with Liu Kang, who became both a cherished friend and a brother to him. His formative years were spent in rigorous training until a pivotal event at 16 years old altered his path, leading him to discover his signature weapon, the razor hat, and vow never to assume the role of a teacher. As a Shaolin master, he crossed paths with Haruka/Lin, on her deathbed which makes him reluctantly accept her as his first student, a journey fraught with grappling his past and embracing his new role as mentor. However, fate dealt him a cruel hand as he met his demise during the interrealm tournament, only to be resurrected as a revenant under dark sorcery for many agonizing years. Trapped in a body he didn't recognize, he wrestled with disillusionment and despair until the unexpected intervention of the 2 gods sacrifice restored him to the realm of the living. Despite his miraculous revival, he found himself adrift in Outworld, wandering aimlessly until his nephew's intervention rescued him, allowing him to finally embrace the remainder of his days.
