Notes: Did this as headcanons because it fits better and I've thought about this scenario way too much to condense it into one imagine. But I have a lot of story ideas based around this that I'd like to play around with for sure. Some of it is discussed below.

First of all, we gotta talk about how Shade ended up with a kid. I don't think he could even have a biological child anymore (nor do I see him having one if he could), but they could be his orphaned great great great grandchild from when he was human, or the orphaned great great great grandchild of his beloved sister. Or something similar to his adopted daughter in the comics where you have powers or something and definitely could not have been raised by normal humans, so he takes you in.

My personal favorite is him adopting the child of one of the dead JSA members. Say, The Flash (IYKYK 😉)

No matter how he ended up being your parental figure, he's not a strict one. Shade has cared for you to the best of his ability, made sure you're well educated, and tried to keep the darker parts of himself from rubbing off on you (that didn't completely work though)

I see there being a lot of periods where you're sort of left to your own devices within the limits of Opal City. And I think that, as well as being different from other kids your age, makes you a little lonely by the time you arrive in Blue Valley.

You follow Shade there because he was acting strange when he told you he was leaving, and you make it there right around when he does. Naturally, you end up meeting the JSA and initially just think Rick is cute.

Nothing ends up happening during season two's events, but you stay in Blue Valley with Shade and a friendship begins to develop between you and the JSA. And something more slowly forms with Rick. You enroll at the high school so you're spending even more time with the team than before.

Shade can absolutely tell that the two of you have feelings for each other, and he really doesn't mind it. While he does value your safety very much, he's not the type of person who's going to control who you might date. And besides, after getting to know Rick better while attempting to resurrect Grundy, Shade's not concerned about the possibility of the two of you dating. If it takes too long, he'll end up planning some dramatic thing to get you and Rick to finally figure things out 😆

Anyway, you stay in town when Shade leaves and things with Rick continue as they are. Until he's deep in his hourglass addiction and says some very personal, hurtful things to you when you're trying to help him. You leave to join Shade and the twins, and once Rick starts coming back to himself, he thinks he screwed everything up and pushed you away for good.

But you make your dramatic entrance during the fight against Ultra-Humanite and the Icicle family, saving him in the process. He apologizes to you afterward, and you accept. I see feelings also being admitted at this point, but it's all kinda taken slowly because Rick's still going through some things after how messed up he got.

When you and Rick are official, Shade's glad for you. He trusts you and knows that Rick is a good young man, and as long as the two of you are being safe about things and you're happy, he doesn't insert himself in any way. Overall just pretty decent for Rick to have as his partner's parental figure (and future in law). He could be terrifying, but Rick would never do anything to bring that upon himself anyway.

Rick's pretty much accepted into your family of two before too long. He spends a good amount of time at your Blue Valley home, which Shade doesn't mind as he knows he still lives alone. You even take him back to Opal City at some point to show him your real home there. And all of your favorite places.

Dates at the diner, drive in movies, stargazing, hanging out in the woods with Grundy, and just enjoying one another's company.

You're so very happy with Rick, and that's all that a father can ask for.

And in a decade or so, Shade totally officiates the wedding

you guys were doing a picnic out in the camp's secret forests, one that you two managed to found in one of your sneaking out sessions. you both layed under the stars, percy snuggling into you like a koala while you made him watch cleopatra documentary videos with you.

you put your phone away, playing with percy's hair instead. percy was now watching the sky just like you, trying to find constellations.

"what's that?" he pointed out. you looked where he was pointing. "orion." you explained, resting your cheek on his head. percy hummed, still searching for stars to ask you.

"and that?"

"big bear."

"that?"

"aquarius."

"you know so many."

"i know all of them percy."

he chuckled at your response, kissing your colarbone. "my bad again, sorry." he murmured and you only smiled. "i didn't know you could see this much constellations from camp."

"i know right?" he agreed, hugging your waist tighter. "do you have the power to create a constellation?" he asked softly. you hummed, thinking for a moment. "maybe, who knows?"

"would you make me a constellation if i died?" he asked quietly.

"stop asking things like that," you warned, already starting to overthink. "you know i hate these conversations."

"yeah, sorry. my ba-"

"your bad, i know." you both laughed. after a minute of silence, you finally had the courage to answer his question.

"i wouldn't." you whispered.

"hm?" he asked, resting his chin on your colarbone. "you wouldnt what?"

"i wouldn't turn to you in a constellation." he frowned, standing up on his elbows. "why not?"

"you'd shine so bright that the other constellations wouldn't be seen."

Steven grieved aloud as he cradled his friends lifeless body in his lap. Steven looked up to the sky, the dark clouds reflecting the mood and atmosphere of this city. Steven now glared at the sky, tears continue to stream down his face. "That monster won't get away with this. I will make him suffer the consequences of actions." Steven spoke through gritted teeth. "I will make sure good will rise once again. You won't die in vain. I will make sure of that." Professor Terror then let out an anguished guttural sound as he wailed loudly in the empty streets amongst the dead. Mourning for those who should have never passed Years later An adult Steven beheld the most precious thing in his life in Fair City General Hospital. Tears of joy appeared in his eyes as he was clutching his newborn daughter. "High there little one, I'm your daddy." Steven cooed as his daughter was sleeping soundly in her father's grasp. "You seem very elated my love." A gentle tired voice called out. Steven looked up to see his partner Teresa sitting up. Although very well, she looked exhausted after many hours of going through contractions and pain to finally give birth to their child. Steven gave her a content smile. "I definitely am." He concurred. He walked towards Teresa and handed her their daughter who was still wrapped up in the hospital baby blankets. Both new parents smiled fondly at their sleeping child, resting in blissful silence. Teresa hummed a little before speaking. "So I was pondering something. You remember when I suggested naming our child Hope if it was a girl? Since you gave me so much hope when we first met." Steven nodded. Teresa continued. "I was thinking about making it her middle name. It sounds more lovely that way in my opinion." Steven made a small grunt of agreement as he began to gently caress their daughter's forehead. "If that's what you want then it's fine with me." Steven responded. "Excellent. Then what do you want our daughter's first name to be?" Teresa happily asked her partner. Steven looked a bit startled before turning to look at her. "Me..well I..uh." Steven hesitated in replying. It wasn't that he couldn't think of a name, he thought up of girl names before their child was born. But for the life of him his mind was drawing a blank on recalling what names he wanted. Just then their daughter gave a great big yawn as she stretched her arms. Her eyes slowly blinked open to reveal beautiful brown orbs staring quizzically at her parents. Steven stared wide eyed, frozen in a trance at the eye color his newborn inherited from him. Eyes that held a strong soul. Eyes that held the soul and heart of a hero. Eyes that Steven had not seen since... "Rebecca." "What." Teresa exclaimed, not catching what her partner just said as she was looking at their child. "Let's name her Rebecca Hope Boxleitner." Steven said, holding back a choked emotional tone. "Becky for short." Becky seemed to like that name as she giggled happily, reaching for her dad. Teresa smile softly in agreement then handed her baby back to her father. Steven once again caressed his close as Becky made happy gurgling sounds. Trying to grab her dad's nose. "I promise with all my heart, I will always protect you my little starlight." Steven whispered. Tears once more falling down his cheeks as his precious child.

Yes!! I'd really like to see that. I can picture a scene so well after the iconic upcoming Icehour fight where Beth is helping Rick with an injury, and he's just pissed off but also defeated and he's hurt and doing some introspection. And Beth finally asks him to try and help her understand his pov--and she has the goggles on and can see his moods, so when he's grasping at what words to use to process his emotions, she has them ready for him. And she doesn't judge him but is firm in trying to let him see why the way he is channeling his anger isn't productive.
