All right, let's do this one last time. My name is Ark Holmes. I was bitten by a radioactive spider, and for seven months I've been the one and only Chaos Spider. I'm pretty sure you know the rest.

I fight baddies, create things, fall in love a lot, occasionally loose control... and in my spare time, I traverse the multiverse, documenting people like me.

To the Spider Society I'm known as "The Spiderverse Watcher." They don't like me very much.

I try to stick to the sidelines, try not get noticed, and watch events unfold.

As a cool kid named Miles once said, "Anyone can wear the mask. YOU can wear the mask." I think a lot of people need to hear that every now and then. That it doesn't take an accident or destiny to be a hero. That you can be great by just being you.

So I hope you find this, and you decide to become a hero yourself. Even if it's not in the ways people might expect. Even if it's just putting one foot in front of the other.

I hope you like the all the people I've seen. I know I do. And I hope you like yourself, too. (I know I do.)

hi everyone! thanks to @mellon_soup and @_doodles_i_guess_ for the art bases! I can't do anatomy on my life, and I was so happy to find their references to use to create my very own spidersona! they were free to use with credit, and I hope that they see these! I'm not sure if they're on tumblr, but I have linked where you can find them elsewhere, please give them some love!

anyway, this blog is going to be for all things spidersona. as of writing this I've yet to see atsv, but I have seen itsv! i just love the spiderverse so much, and I love the creativity and diversity it brings within fandom. it deserves to be showcased. so I made a little story as a sort of meta kind of thing, for this blog. I really hope you like it!

Peter Parker was used to feeling cold.

In the days after the spider bite, once the sickness left him, he researched anything and everything about arachnids. There was an article about spiders not being able to thermoregulate that made him genuinely afraid that he was going to spend his winters hibernating, but once he got over that fear, he realized that there was a chill that hadn't left his bones the entire time.

It took a while, but he got used to the feeling. He bought fingerless gloves at Goodwill (explaining his new fashion sense to Aunt May took a while) and wore layers even during the peak of heatwaves.

But that was only the normal cold. His spider-sense felt like being dunked in ice water.

He never got used to it.

It was helpful on patrol. He could be swinging to Brooklyn, and his internal ice-bucket challenge would redirect him back to Queens. At school, it stopped him from losing his lunch or notebooks to Flash. When he was walking down the street, it saved him from being punched in the face by some random dude for no reason.

On nights when he didn't patrol.... it was unbearable.

He would wake up feeling like he'd been submerged in liquid nitrogen, sensing danger all around him. Sometimes, he'd throw the suit on in a blind panic and patrol until the sun rose, searching fruitlessly for the threat. Other times, he sat in the shower with the water blistering hot- only getting out when the steam set off the fire alarm.

A small mountain of blankets began to form on his twin bed. At night, he burrowed under the pile and relished in the total absence of light and the dulling of the ever-present noise that never let him be.

It didn't stop him from waking up just an hour later, teeth chattering and skin crawling.

ok little nick pick/rant ere! I love the Marvle’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors episodes where Peter meets everyone (including 2099) and it’s a cool comic also but for 8 years ( it’s been out since 2016) one thing that always bugged me(ha get it,bugged ,cause he’s spider man),even in other comics,it states that Miguel had spider senses (like above panel) and I’m like “ SHOCKS SAKE HE DOESN’T HAVE SPIDER SENSES HIS DNA IS DIFFERENT!” I mean yeah I guess this one does because it’s a different universe..and another him (Patrick O’Hara,yeah that’s cannon) has them I think..so it’s like a non cannon cannon? Idk it’s probably just me but I can’t be the only one to notice that?! Like even in the original comics we know Miguel doesn’t have normal spider powers and has fangs and claws. Don’t get me wrong it’s still awesome to watch and read cause the cgi parts in 2099’s timeline in Ultimate’s timeline.But I can’t be the only one confused/ tiny bit annoyed at the inconsistency of his powers? Still a good comic and all but if other people who never read the original run of the comics think Miguel has spider powers then show them Into the Spider Verse lol. With that off my chest let me just drink chai (MILES ITS NOT “CHAI TEA ISTG I’LL CHASE YOU IF U CALL IT THAT AGAIN) and let you all discuss it among yourself in the spider HQ. Okay, short post but I've seen a lot of people over the years get confused about Daredevil's Radar Sense, including myself. Especially due to the Netflix series and it's... interesting depiction, there've been a lot of people who assume he can actually see or other crazy stuff. So here's my lil explanation.

For anyone not in the know, this is the Radar Sense. This represents what Matt "sees" in the comics to give an example as to how he experiences the world. He does not actually see this. He is actually blind, no matter how many times the Netflix series has him state "I nEvEr SaId I wAs BlInD".

Think of it like Spidey-Sense. In universe, nobody, not even the Spideys themselves, see those rays. That's not an actual visual thing that happens. It is simply to represent to us what he is experiencing, and give a universally understood visual cue so we recognize when it happens. Same thing here. And for a better example, another blind superpower with a similar visual depiction.

This is the Seismic Sense, invented for ATLA. Anybody who's aware of the series knows that Toph is blind. Not semi-blind, not mostly blind, not technically-but-not-really-blind, just blind.

The Seismic Sense is an ability she has using her Earth bending, which allows her to gauge movements, depth, and even heartbeats by sensing the vibrations through the rocks. This is not something she actually sees, just as when Aang uses it he also doesn't see this. It is just a visual cue so that viewers 1: have something to look at, and 2: know what we're looking at.

(I should also specify that that is an image of Toph's daughter Lin using the ability, not Toph herself)

I think it would be much better to bring on actual blind people to help with depictions like this. I feel like most of the confusion comes from poor communication on behalf of the comics/series, wherein it's usually only able-bodied folks leading the representation. If someone who, y'know, actually lives with blindness gets to be apart of the discussion, the discussion would be better suited towards "Oh, Daredevil has super-senses and this is what is used to represent that" and not "blind people have superpowers??!!!!?11!"

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise Of Electro" still has the best portrayal of Spider-Sense. Andrew’s Spider-Man was able to sense Electro’s presence literally miles away before Electro even did anything.
