I’m thinking about how Angel/Anthony is both the second son AND a twin. Some families with inheritances have that whole “heir and spare” crap, and if that was the case with this family he’d always be seen as secondary to Arackniss.

In previous stuff after the spider bros that Viv released we see that Arackniss is the more “competent” one who presumably carries on the family business, while Angel is the disappointment.

And with being a twin, he may have felt/been treated like an “add on” to Molly. Something they didn’t necessarily want or plan for but are now “stuck with.”

Add the fact he was gay in the 1930s in a male dominant environment (and possibly had an eye condition? I know a while back there was that one drawing that mentioned that his eyes look different because Arackniss hit him before he died, idk if that holds up or not so I’m mentioning it in parenthesis cause it’s not expanded upon.)

What if the reason he was so willing to let go of “Anthony”, the reason he holds onto the persona of “Angel Dust” isn’t just because Val wants him to, but because he really doesn’t see the point of being “Anthony.”

If he was told his whole like he was a disappointment, superfluous, and then is thrust into a world where he is valued by someone, wouldn’t he want to hold onto that? Valentino may have told Angel all he’s good for is sex, but at least he’s good for SOMETHING.

(And the whiplash of being at the hotel. Where they don’t want him for his body. So maybe at the beginning he doesn’t try cause what’s the point? He tried at Anthony in his life and failed. But then is slowly shown that no, he is part of their family and they like him as his true self.)

My headcanons on what each of the spider-kids parental name(s) for Miguel would be.

Miles

• Tìo of course.

• Papà.

• Work dad.™ I've seen this being used a few times and it's so canon lol.

• Mamà araña (spider mom) I read a fic with this nickname and I find it so cute.

Gwen

• Dad.

• Spider dad.

• On very rare occasions mom; she's more comfortable using dad though. (She feels guilty about calling Miguel mom, like she's replacing her old mother.)

Noir (he's 19)

• Father. Noir gives off vibes of someone who uses formal names 24/7 with older people. (Plus he's dramatic)

• Pops but only when he's emotional or drugged up on pain medication.

• Mother if he's in spider mode.

Margo

• Dad but in a teasing sort of way.

• Work dad; she doesn't care that it's trademark by Miles.

• Mom but in a I don't have emotionally healthy parents that don't fight all the time and you're my only semi stable parental figure I have to look up to sort of way.

Peni

• She just mostly uses Miguel's name or boss but she has called him dad a few times.

Hobie

• Old man. (Affectionately)

• Boss mom but he's being a little shit about it. Stole this nickname from a comic.

• Called him dad by accident once and he tried not throwing himself immediately out the window from his sheer embarrassment afterwards. (He failed)

• Mum if he's feeling vulnerable enough.

• Work dad™ but only because he wants to mess with Miles' trademark.

Pavitr

• Out of all of the spider-kids Pav seems the most emotionally healthy? That's not saying a lot but still. So in my mind he doesn't have enough parental issues to consider Miguel his parent. I think he would only call Miguel boss mom, but it's because he picked it up from Hobie.

• To him Miguel is more like a grumpy old uncle who's really cool.

Here is an extra headcanon for the people that read to the end ✨ or just scrolled down to the bottom of the post. 😒

• Peter b. called Miguel dad once in the middle of a villain fight. They both just stared at each other and immediately agreed to never bring it up again. Peter is still mortified he did that to this day.

✧ he actually feels protective of his sister, he already lost his parents and he CANNOT lose his sister, the last family member remaining in his side

✧ he would be insanely strict about your freedom actually

✧ he won't allow you to go out in the wild most of the time since he's actually scared of losing you or failing to protect you when he's not around

✧ he looks up to you a lot

✧ and also has a soft side too!

✧ his soft side can be combing your hair, taking care of you if your sick, makes a cure spider-themed kimono for you

✧ if your a demon too, he would give you more blood to make you stronger and better at defending yourself when he's not around to save you

✧ but sometimes Rui isn't always nice, he has a cold-hearted personality most of the time

✧ so don't expect him to sometimes be in a bad mood

✧ but.. Typically he would feel better if you talk about it with him or comfort him

✧ if you did or messed up with something wrong, he won't punish you like he did to the others, instead. He would give you a small lecture

✧ he doesn't feel like being too mad or rude to his actual Sibling, sometimes he would be worried if he upset you too much so he would just lecture a bit and give you some time alone
