ITS 1998??? HELP I THOUGHT IT WAS EARLY 90S THIS ENTIRE TIME. IM FREE ILL NEVER BE TIME INACCURATE EVER AGAIN WITH THIS INFO (edit: just checked why i thought this. it was once again my inability to do basic math of avery's d.o.b (1972) + 26. HOW DID I GET 1991 THIS IS SO EMBARRASSING)
u also didnt ask but my favorite pokemon is volcarona i love that guy. seconded in a tie by ninetales, garchomp, and hisuian zoroak,,,and eevee,,,an- (i have so many oh god)
TRUBBISH N' MUNNA,,,THE VIBE CONTRAST,,,scarlet "found munna in the dreamyard" vs avery "i found This Thing in the trash. it Bit me"
i love unova sm!! and yea. i also thought the sp was 90s. it originally releasing in 2003 feels like a lie i refuse to believe it
more of Them:
once vampires get invited into a home once, can they come in freely later without having to ask again, or do they have to be invited in every time?
what anime does scarlet watch,,,u wont believe this but its actually relevant to both a scene in my brain i need to write AND a playlist i definitely dont have (that definitely doesnt already have revolutionary girl utena's opening already in it thatd be crazy)
um. thats all i got (For Now). here check this guy out -> :3
YEA SORRY ppl also confuse my handwriting on her id with 1992 which makes things a whole thing too. im ngl i get too lazy to put text font proper on physical objects these days which is bad bc my handwriting is like so insanely shit.
volcarona is very cute i wanted my larvesta to evolve so bad as a kid but i hated battling too much to actually level it high enough so it never did and it was frustrating & tragic. unova was my first proper pokemon game so gen 5 dex is usually what i think of!! i rly like the ones in that one.
yes they can come and go as they pls after being invited in once :)
she probably watches most of what she can get her hands on, she and fish meet up at weekends to watch stuff( idk if i mentioned theyre like... acquaintances, they watch niche stuff together but dont really talk outside of that bc they both have stuff to hide- scarlet has access to fishs house which is why she says theyll never let YOU in- shes already allowed in :) as if anyone remembers an offhand comment from a couple months ago) i need to finish utena,, i rly like the op.
whatever u think shed like she probably watches. and trigun bc i like trigun. canonically mentioned though she reads snorpworld which is a title i made up and i have no idea what itd be about. and like iirc an alien romance poster is on her wall.

Rampardos for Pokemon Unite!
Tumblr media
Season 1
Prev: Torterra - Scrafty - Starmie - Luvdisc - Boltund - Tinkaton
Now, I’m not really a dinosaur kind of guy. I wasn’t one of those kids that loved and revered dinosaurs for what they were and what they could’ve been like. That said, Rampardos fills me with a sense of nostalgia and familiarity when I see it. Maybe because I used one all the time back when I played competitively, using it as the ace for my Trick Room teams. I always loved using it to one-shot everything to win the battle. And even beyond that, it appeals greatly to me as a big lovable dino with a head case of hard headed bravery.
And now, it’s time for me to return the favor to one of my Gen 4 favorites. Let’s bring this ancient creature back from the Cretaceous era and into Pokemon Unite!
Tumblr media
In all of the years of Pokemon, an extremely sparse few have ever had a stat totaling more than 150. There are the well known giants such as Mewtwo with its high Sp. Atk, or Blissey with her super high HP. But choice among them is Rampardos, having an Attack stat so high, it is the 4th highest Attack stat of all the pokedex, having only been beaten out by Deoxys Attack introduced in the generation before it.
Granted, the rest of its stats aren’t that great. A modest HP stat of 97 makes it kind of bulky, but its defenses are extremely low. Low Sp. Atk and Speed are also a burden on its ability to use moves, so a lot of what Rampardos can do is rather limited aside from hitting things really hard. Instead, let’s figure out Rampardos’s archetype by process of elimination. As an Attacker, Rampardos lacks the Sp. Atk needed to fire off strong hits, and I don’t think shooting rocks is Rampardos’s style. It doesn’t have the defenses to be an All-Rounder or a Defender, and there’s no way it can be expected to play the role of a Supporter. And so, with nothing else for it, Rampardos has gained the role of a...
Speedster
Basic Attack - Melee/Attack
A stamping stomp romp that deals damage to enemies close by. Can be used while the pokemon is moving, but deals less damage and has reduced range. Powers up the next hit of Headbutt, Zen Headbutt, or Head Smash when used.
The range of the basic attack is above average when standing still. The range of the basic attack while running is below average.
When mashed or held, the basic attack deals damage once every 0.5 seconds.
Each hit powers up Headbutt, Zen Headbutt, and Head Smash by 50%, to a maximum of 300%. Damaging multiple enemies accelerates the boost, 50% for each enemy hit. The boost expires even if the attack misses.
With the role of a Speedster, Rampardos has high expectations for its damage and mobility options. For starters, its basic attack is a wide ranged stomping attack that damages all nearby enemies. And this attack range is far reaching too, which makes Rampardos dangerous to be near. And for good reason, each hit powers up the damage of Headbutt, Zen Headbutt, or Head Smash when that attack is used, and can boost the move’s damage by as much as triple!
Now, of course, Rampardos cannot afford to take many hits, so the basic attack operates more as a risk vs reward, but the risk tapers off if you have allies nearby. One notable effect is that Rampardos can keep stamping the ground even while it's moving, but the range is reduced in exchange. The ability to keep attacking while moving is something all other Speedsters struggle with, including Gengar. While Rampardos loses out on range, each hit does still power up your head attacks, which results in a huge payout should you land that attack.
Now, the attack boost accelerates if you damage multiple enemies with one stomp, but the risk is not worth it. DO NOT engage multiple enemies unless you have sufficient backup that can stun the enemy long enough to get those multiple stomps in. Hitting one enemy 6 times is enough to power up the head attacks to max, but hitting 2 enemies 3 times achieves the same thing in a shorter amount of time, and hitting 3 enemies two times does this as well. The problem is, no opposing player will let that happen if they can help it, and this kind of brashness is a good way to put a giant target on your back.
You’re playing as a Rampardos, that’s already risky enough. Use your head, metaphorically and literally.
Ability: Mold Breaker
When an enemy is hit from this pokemon’s attack, it will not activate that enemy’s ability.
Abilities that activate when the pokemon’s HP reaches a certain threshold are exempt, as they use the HP percentage as a trigger rather than receiving damage.
The Slow Smoke item (and other hindrance inducing battle items that have yet to be made) is not affected by Mold Breaker. Items like Razor Claw, which inflict a movement speed debuff on hit, do bypass abilities with Mold Breaker, however.
For such a straightforward ability, Mold Breaker is one of the most powerful. Rampardos already has a tough time dealing with the stunning options the enemy team has, so putting a stop to their abilities is one way it can smash through unopposed.
The effect is simple. If Rampardos attacks and deals damage to an enemy with an ability that will react to that attack, it simply won’t activate. The easiest example is Espeon’s Magic Bounce or Duraludon’s Heavy Metal. Both abilities grant the pokemon a protection from hindrances one time before going on cooldown. But if Rampardos inflicts a hindrance through one of these moves, the hindrance is overruled by Rampardos’s Mold Breaker. The hindrance protection is still there and will kick in when another enemy damages them with a hindrance inducing attack, but not if it comes from Rampardos.
A short list of all abilities and their interactions (not including pokemon from my own posts); Blissey’s Natural Cure will not cure the pokemon of hindrances inflicted by Rampardos, but it’s cooldown doesn’t activate. Cramorant’s Gulp Missile will not counterattack. Dragapult’s Clear Body doesn’t reduce the duration of debuffs inflicted by Rampardos. Dragonite’s Multiscale will not block damage received but it will not go on cooldown afterwards. Duraludon’s Heavy Metal will not stop the pokemon from being shoved or thrown. Likewise, Espeon’s Magic Bounce will fail to block hindrances. Garchomp’s Rough Skin will not deal counter damage. Gardevoir’s Synchronize will not inflict the same debuff or damage over time effect on Rampardos. Glaceon’s Snow Cloak will not block hindrances and will not make the pokemon invisible. Greedent’s Cheek Pouch will not produce a berry on hit. Machamp’s Guts do not increase attack when hit by a hindrance. Pikachu’s Static will not cause a counter stun to all surrounding enemies. Slowbro’s Oblivious will not store HP and cause the pokemon to receive full damage from Rampardos’s attacks. Sylveon’s Pixilate will not increase it’s Sp. Atk and Sp. Def, but the ability still triggers when it deals damage to Rampardos. Wigglytuff’s Cute Charm will not force Rampardos to approach the pokemon, but will still activate if another pokemon triggers the ability and Rampardos is in range. And lastly, Zeraora’s Volt Absorb do not generate an electric charge and will not boost its Attack.
Now, there are some pokemon I did leave out and whose abilities are in fact affected by Mold Breaker. However, they belong to the unevolved forms of pokemon whose abilities change after evolving. Larvitar’s Guts and Kubfu’s Inner Focus are negated by Mold Breaker, but these pokemon tend to evolve early on during the game, so the interaction is negligible most of the time.
The other abilities I left out seem to be the most notorious ones, such as the various boosting abilities like Torrent and Blaze. The devil is in the details, and Mold Breaker doesn’t stop these abilities from activating because they don’t respond to attacks or damage. Rather, if the pokemon’s HP falls below a certain threshold, they activate, and it doesn’t matter what causes it. Basically, the pokemon’s HP is the activator for these abilities, not necessarily the attacks that reduced the HP to that amount in the first place. So, unfortunately, Cinderace’s Blaze will kick in when you reduce it’s HP down, making it possible to retaliate with extremely quick feet flashes.
All you can do is deal more damage than the ability can handle. The pokemon can’t abuse it’s low HP powered ability if its HP is set to 0 (finger to brain gesture).
Tumblr media
At the start of the game, Rampardos will start out as Cranidos. You can choose between Leer and Headbutt as your first move. By Level 3, you will have learned both.
Move 1: Leer
Gives all enemies in range a nasty look, stunning them briefly and reducing their Defense for 4 seconds. 8s cooldown.
Affects all enemies in a fan shape in front of the pokemon. Reduces defenses by 50%.
Leer stuns enemies for 0.5 seconds.
Reducing the defenses of your enemies is a powerful opening play, especially since the Mold Breaker ability prevents the debuff from being reduced or nullified. The range is limited and you only have 4 seconds to take advantage of the debuff, but it’s a great move to lead with against the bulky Defenders or All-Rounders you meet in the middle of the lane.
While 8 seconds of cooldown doesn’t give you much flexibility, it’s a matter of skill in how you use the move. Did you manage to get two or three enemies in one Leer? Good, now go buck wild. Oh, did you miss? Too bad, now you have to wait for the cooldown to come off of its timer before you can try again. Hope you don’t get KO’d in the meantime because of your itchy trigger finger.
Move 2: Headbutt
Charges forward head first, shoving enemies caught in the attack. Dealing damage to an opposing pokemon resets this moves cooldown. 8.5s cooldown.
Cranidos stops dashing at the point of impact. Enemies are shoved a fair distance away and are unable to act while being thrown.
If the enemy is immune to hindrances, the move will still have its cooldown reset if it successfully deals damage.
With reckless abandon, Cranidos charges head first, rudely shoving away any and all enemies along the path. While Headbutt is a simple and straightforward attack, in more ways than one, it does get a massive boost from your basic attack, which drastically increases its potential to KO. Not only that, its stun and shove effect cannot be blocked by abilities thanks to Mold Breaker, which makes it easy to throw the attack around with little repercussion.
Speaking of percussion, Headbutt resets its own cooldown when damaging an enemy from the opposing team, which is very powerful. Since the stun effect cannot be blocked, this means Cranidos can very easily bully an enemy into submission, KO’ing them with little counterplay. Now, it should be noted that Headbutt’s Shove effect is still blocked by protections such as Full Heal or Safeguard, which can give the enemy enough time to retaliate. Moreover, if the enemy you’re bullying has backup, don’t expect to last long, as Headbutt has limited range and you’re likely to be KO’d in return.
Also, this only works against enemy players. Wild Pokemon will not trigger the cooldown reset, so if you somehow mess up your aiming, you’ll have to deal with the long cooldown. Don’t get it wrong, Headbutt is a powerful move to use against your foes, but there’s a reason for that, and that’s because Cranidos has very little survivability when challenged.
I’m going to be saying this a lot, but use your head. Literally and metaphorically.
At Level 4, Leer becomes either Stealth Rock or Ancient Power.
Move 1a: Stealth Rock
Unleash a volley of floating rocks in random directions directly forward. Each individual stone targets an enemy and deals damage, reducing their movement speed and increasing the damage they receive from your next attack. The more hits Stealth Rock deals to an enemy, the greater the movement speed reduction and increased damage they receive. 9.5s cooldown.
At Level 11, Stealth Rock becomes Stealth Rock+.
More rocks are thrown. Extends the duration of movement speed reduction and increased damage.
One hit from Stealth Rock reduces movement speed by 10% and increases damage dealt by 10% for 5 seconds. Subsequent damage adds 10% more to each factor, but the duration of the effect is reset to 5 seconds. The effect caps at 75% reduction. The rocks disappear after dealing damage.
8 rocks are thrown with Stealth Rock. Stealth Rock+ throws 12 rocks and extends the duration of its debuff to 7.5 seconds.
If the debuffs are cleared by effects or by the timer running out and then reapplied, the debuff power starts over at 10%.
Stealth Rock and Stealth Rock+ linger in an area for 6.5 seconds before disappearing. The cooldown starts when the move is used.
Most Speedsters manage by constantly dealing damage while on the move. They don’t really have a penchant for laying traps like Rampardos here, but it does help in covering a large area to take advantage of.
First of all, you’re still a Cranidos when you learn Stealth Rock, or Ancient Power, and you don’t evolve until a little later, but I will be referring to little Cranidos as Rampardos from here on out.
Now, giving up Leer for Stealth Rock is a matter of expanding your influence. While the ability to reduce defense is greatly weakened, Stealth Rock also reduces the movement speed of all affected enemies, making it easier to chase them down. Don’t forget, these debuffs aren’t blocked by abilities thanks to Mold Breaker, which makes it easy when dealing with one trick Attackers like Glaceon. The attack is also difficult to dodge, as each will home in and attack any enemy within range. This activation range is very small, but Stealth Rock throws a lot of little stones that’s impossible to maneuver through.
Against opposing enemies, Stealth Rock is best used to deal with mobile Attackers and Speedsters, as they tend to zip around out of reach and attack when you leave yourself wide open. Stealth Rock casts a wide net not only to slow these jittery enemies down, but also drastically increases the followup damage. If you manage to get a few hits in with your basic attack, the subsequent Headbutt or its upgraded moves will surely One-Hit KO the enemy. It’s also a great plus for your teammates in that it makes these enemies easier to deal with. Stealth Rock increases damage received, not necessarily reducing their defense, meaning that any attack type will deal increased damage and secure the KO reliably.
However, Stealth Rock offers very little protection for Rampardos, as it doesn’t reduce their attack or limit their offense in any other way, making you prone to counterattacks, especially if they have hindrance protection. If you’re fast enough, you don’t have anything to worry about, but if your opponent has even the slightest edge, you might be on the receiving end of the respawn timer.
Move 1b: Ancient Power
Summons a force field of skull fossils to surround you, damaging nearby enemies. When damage is received, a skull fossil disappears in exchange for nullifying the damage. Each skull fossil that disappears in this way boosts the attack power and movement speed of the pokemon. 9.5s cooldown.
At Level 11, Ancient Power becomes Ancient Power+.
Increases the amount of fossils generated and prevents hindrances from affecting the pokemon when blocking damage.
6 Skull Fossils are generated when Ancient Power is used. Ancient Power+ makes 9 fossils.
Before Ancient Power is upgraded, damage is nullified but hindrances aren’t. Blocking damage increases movement speed and attack power by 10% for each Skull Fossil consumed. These boosts last for 5.5 seconds and reset each time the boost increases.
Ancient Power creates a damaging effect around Rampardos that deals small amounts of damage very rapidly. The rate of damage decreases the less fossils you manage to keep.
Ancient Power and Ancient Power+ last for 4.5 seconds before disappearing.
Rather than investing in a projectile option, Ancient Power augments Rampardos’s defensive capabilities by granting it great protection. When used, it summons a force-field of Skull Fossils to surround and protect it (are these fossils its dead relatives? Oooh, don’t wanna think about that).
The field of fossils damages nearby enemies, increasing its offensive capabilities when engaging in melee combat with other pokemon. However, this isn’t the main draw of the move, though it is very handy against Wild Pokemon. The real boon of Ancient Power is the ability to nullify damage completely, in exchange for losing one of these fossils. Losing fossils in this way does reduce the damage you deal to nearby enemies, but in return, it grants Rampardos a small Attack and Movement Speed boost. Not only that, it stacks with each fossil lost to blocked damage, drastically increasing Rampardos’s destructive potential when all fossils are lost.
Ancient Power makes 6 fossils that protect you, resulting in a possible 60% attack and movement speed boost if all fossils are used up. Ancient Power+ makes 9 fossils, bringing up the possible power boost to an insane 90% attack and speed boost. Not only does Ancient Power protect Rampardos, but it also rewards it for being reckless in this way. What’s the counterplay?
Patience. Both attacks only last for 4.5 seconds, so a smart opponent will wait until the fossils disappear before reengaging Rampardos. This is really bad for it, because afterwards Rampardos has to wait 9.5 seconds of cooldown before it can use the move again. And even if it manages to get the boost, it only lasts for about 5 seconds before the boost goes away. Granted, this boost time resets each time a fossil is lost, but it’s a lot less time than you would think, especially given Rampardos’s frailty and lack of protection.
Using Ancient Power to dive into team fights is also not without its risks, as the Ancient Power boost only provides a limited number of protection against hits. In the heat of battle, it’s very easy to lose all of those fossils and then get KO’d before accomplishing anything meaningful. Also, until the move upgrades to Ancient Power+, it doesn’t block hindrances from effecting you, which can make the mid-game a difficult endeavor.
Even so, the move is very useful in handling opposing All-Rounders, Defenders, and Supporters. All-Rounders and Defenders will not want to risk engaging Rampardos if it has Ancient Power fortifying it, and Supporters will have very little counterplay to challenge Rampardos even if it uses up all of its fossils and is vulnerable to damage again.
Now, keep in mind that most of this applies to Cranidos as well, as the little butt head learns all of these moves before evolving. But once it evolves into the mighty Rampardos, its stats gain a huge spike in power, greatly boosting its power level.
Tumblr media
At Level 7, Cranidos becomes Rampardos. At the same time, Headbutt becomes either Zen Headbutt or Head Smash.
Move 2a: Zen Headbutt
Harnesses psychic power into your head before charging forward. While charging, you are resistant to hindrances and your defenses increase. Upon impact with an enemy, reduces your cooldown by half and stuns the enemy briefly. 8s cooldown.
At Level 13, Zen Headbutt becomes Zen Headbutt+.
Increases speed and travel distance. Reduces cooldown by 6 seconds on hit with an enemy.
Zen Headbutt and Zen Headbutt+ increase your defense by 60% while charging the move. The extra defense and hindrance resistance carry over when the attack comes out.
It takes a full second for the move to fully charge and attack. You can turn and aim while charging Zen Headbutt, but turning speed is very slow. Aiming before the move comes out is unaffected.
Zen Headbutt stuns enemies for 1 second.
Your cooldown is reduced when you damage an enemy. The damage range is similar to that of an explosion and can stun multiple enemies. However, the cooldown doesn’t reduce any further if you damage multiple enemies.
Eject Button can be used to change Rampardos’s location while charging the move.
Rampardos forfeited a lot of brain power in evolving, but that doesn’t seem to have stopped it from learning the big brain move of Zen Headbutt. Not only is the range greater than Zen Headbutt, but it’s also much stronger and even more unstoppable thanks to the power of harnessing the mind.
The ability to become resistant to hindrances while charging the attack grants Rampardos the ability to break through conventional means of hindrance, allowing it to bypass moves like Mr. Mime’s Confusion or Snorlax’s Yawn, all of which would have stopped the dinosaur in its tracks. The extra defense is a great plus too, though it doesn’t do much considering Rampardos’s frailty.
One downside is that the move doesn’t automatically refresh itself when it deals damage, but the extended travel distance and ability to stun multiple enemies is a fair trade-off. Also, that is a full second of stun dealt on hit, giving you just enough time to get off two basic attacks. If you hit multiple enemies, your next Zen Headbutt will practically triple in damage, and that extra stun basically reduces your cooldown down to 3 seconds instead, basically!
Combined with Stealth Rock or Ancient Power, Rampardos suddenly becomes a formidable Speedster to watch out for. Stealth Rock reduces the enemy’s ability to escape while Ancient Power makes it nearly impossible to counter Rampardos’s aggression before it gets to attack again. And do not forget, Mold Breaker is able to stun enemies regardless of their ability, making the attack much safer for Rampardos.
It should be noted, though, that the attack is easy to dodge. While Rampardos is charging, it takes a full second for it to reach full power before attacking. It’s designated direction is easy to guess as Rampardos faces which way it’s going to run at, and turning is drastically reduced while charging. If Rampardos misses, you’ll have to wait 8 seconds before using Zen Headbutt again, and you might not survive that time if the enemy is really aggressive.
Zen Headbutt+ increases the travel distance and attack speed, the two combined means that Rampardos runs further in the same amount of time as regular Zen Headbutt. It’s great to use when engaging enemies sooner, but the attack might send you further into enemy territory than you intended. The major upside though is the drastically reduced cooldown if you get a hit in, which brings Zen Headbutt+ back to the effectiveness of Headbutt, back when you were a little Cranidos.
This must be what they mean when they say brain over brawn. Use your brain power to beat your enemies to death!
Move 2b: Head Smash
Charges forward head first recklessly, running in a straight line. You are completely immune to hindrances while charging. Any enemy you collide with are picked up and dragged along. Upon collision with a wall, the attack explodes, dealing damage to all enemies caught in the move as well as those nearby. If you reach the maximum distance before the move ends, you will stop charging and be stunned briefly while any enemy you caught will be thrown a short distance. Reduces the cooldown of this move by 2.5 seconds for each enemy on the opposing team you damage with this move. 15s cooldown.
At Level 13, Head Smash becomes Head Smash+.
The attack will keep going until you run into a wall.
Picked up enemies are incapacitated and cannot use moves or items to escape. However, if the enemy has hindrance protection before colliding with the move, they will be damaged but will not be picked up by the attack.
If you fail to hit a wall with Head Smash, Rampardos will be left unable to act for 0.5 seconds while any picked up enemies will be shoved a bit from the stopping point. The cooldown of the move kicks in when the move ends by hitting a wall or failing in this way.
The impact deals damage equal to 4.5x Rampardos’s Attack stat.
In life, there are three things that you absolutely do not want to be hit by; a lawsuit, a hospital bill, and Rampardos’s Head Smash, which incidentally you can get all three if you own a Rampardos, constantly.
With what might possibly be the longest cooldown timer for a move in the game (so far), Rampardos’s Head Smash counts down to an agonizingly long wait time of 15 whole seconds. That’s a quarter of a minute! There’s only 10 of those in a whole match! For such a long wait time, you’d think the move would be worth using, and it is. Instead of a nauseating recoil factor, Rampardos only has to deal with the timer, which is a fantastic trade-off.
Like a bulldozer, when Rampardos uses Head Smash, it picks a direction and prays. It prays that it will pick up an unfortunate victim and carry them off to a brand new world, unless it hits a wall, in which case the only world they’re going to is the Distortion World, because of how hard Head Smash hits. Head Smash doesn’t deal damage until the attack lands on a wall, in which case a massive shock wave is released and deals damage to all in range, including the unfortunate passenger. Not only does Head Smash deal legitimately bonkers damage, it gets its own cooldown reduced for each enemy you picked up. If you’re lucky enough to pick up the entire enemy team, Head Smash’s cooldown is reduced by 12.5 seconds, giving you roughly 2 seconds of wait time until you can use the attack again.
Using this move to deal damage requires using it properly. If you aim in a direction where there is no wall, Rampardos will keep running until it tires out. When this happens, any enemy is thrown weakly and Rampardos stops moving for a bit before it can act again. Missing the wall in this way actually causes you to miss out on the big damage at the end of the move, and chances are you’ll be left alone, all by yourself, with half of the opposing team ready to rip into you. Head Smash+ fixes this by forcing the move to keep running until a wall is found, but it doesn’t increase the damage and any survivors will immediately retaliate. Because of the extra distance you can run, you’ll most likely end up far away from your team, devoid of backup squaring off against a bulky All-Rounder or Defender (the most likely to survive your Head Smash, if they were at full HP).
However, if you’re playing for the team, you’ll just have to accept that it is a great sacrifice that can be made on your part. I mean, Talonflame, another fellow Speedster, literally plows and runs over their enemies for the greater good. Though it should be stated that Talonflame has better escape options than Rampardos, utilizing Fly, Flame Charge, or Brave Bird to either finish the job or make a quick getaway. When Rampardos charges, it’s to deal great damage and KO the enemy in one go, regardless of what comes after.
Rampardos does have a slight advantage, though, and that’s the fact that the move is powered up by your basic attack, just like Zen Headbutt. If you can bring up the damage, you can KO just about anything. And barring hindrance protection, your Mold Breaker ability will grab just about anyone and limits their counterplay.
When you mess with the bull, you get the horns. When you mess with a Rampardos, you get a free ride to the underworld. Watch yourself.
Unite Move: Rampaging Rocker
The pokemon’s movement speed drastically increases and forces the pokemon to run. While running, the pokemon is resistant to hindrances and any enemy the pokemon collides with are damaged and shoved to either side of the pokemon. In addition, any obstacles made by pokemon from either team are destroyed upon collision. The enemy receives increasing damage each time they are attacked again.
Rampardos’s movement speed increases by 2.75x.
Repeated attacks increase the damage dealt by 25%.
The Unite Move lasts for 8.5 seconds.
When the ground starts rumbling and trees and walls are falling, left and right, it’s not a natural disaster that’s causing all of this, it’s Rampardos, pure destruction given form. Rampaging Rocker unleashes the fully fury of the ancient era of dinosaurs, letting Rampardos run wild, destroying everything in sight.
When activated, your movement speed nearly triples, which is already scary enough, but Rampardos then starts charging head first at everything and everyone. Getting hit by Rampardos in this state sends the enemy flying, but it doesn’t hurt that much at first. But then, getting hit a second or third time will result in the damage slowly increasing, and by the fourth hit, half of your HP is already gone, and the fifth hit threatens to take it all away!
Not even putting a wall in front of Rampardos is enough to stop its rampage, as the Unite Move grants it the power to destroy walls and obstacles made by the opposing pokemon. It’ll break the walls made by your teammates too, but more importantly, it just means that literally nothing can stop Rampardos from running through the entire enemy team. (Heracross, whom I made a moveset for, had this same ability with the move Brick Break, so this is an intentional callback)
If that wasn’t bad enough, the Unite Move is backed by Mold Breaker, which prevents pokemon from using their abilities to escape damage dealt by this move. It also stuns and shoves enemies freely, meaning it can be used to knock enemies away from points of interest, such as Regieleki or Rayquaza. In drastic examples, it can be used to knock away enemies defending their home Goal Zone, putting them at major risk of being KO’d while your teammates score a sneaky goal.
The one major downside to this move, as with all of Rampardos’s moves, is that, barring Buddy Barrier, Rampardos has no defensive buffer when using this Unite Move. It is completely possible to get KO’d while attacking or approaching the enemy menacingly, especially given Rampardos’s weak defenses. Granted, this is extremely difficult for the enemy to do, as Rampardos gains a massive movement speed boost while using this Unite Move, and also it is resistant to hindrances, so only an opposing Unite Move can really stop its rampage. Still, the objective for the enemy is to survive and evade until the Unite Move wears off, in which case it becomes safe to engage Rampardos again. Having teammates hold the enemy down with their own hindrances can make this difficult, and opposing Attackers and Speedsters shouldn’t be expected to last very long against this battle plan.
Even so, Rampardos has the edge when engaging in a team fight with this move, as your teammates can cover your weaknesses while you single out the weak and weakened enemies to secure the point. They’re gonna feel that one in the morning.
Holowear
Dinosaurs have no sense of style or fashion, but even Rampardos knows it can’t rock a fancy hat. It would obscure that magnificent dome and would be difficult to take seriously. Rest assured, the clothes are completely holographic, so there’s no danger to bashing its head against a wall and ruining an expensive looking hat.
Firstly, there’s Sporty Style, putting Rampardos in a jersey and body armor and some athletic shorts. No helmet though, as Rampardos doesn’t need one. Then there’s Conductor Style, giving it a scarf, a whistle, a fancy shirt and tie, and a train master’s hat. Matador Style gives Rampardos an exotic looking shirt, a red cape, and one of those fancy hats bull fighters wear. With Demolition Style, Rampardos puts on an orange bright vest, a tool belt, and a pair of safety goggles that rest on its neck. And finally, Delivery Style puts Rampardos in a brown worker’s shirt and shorts and a small cap and a satchel full of packages and presents.
The general idea is that Rampardos will be using these holowear to express itself while running over its enemies, just with more personality.
Strategy
Rampardos’s fight starts at the loading screen, where you can see which pokemon are on the opposing team and what they’re running. Against multiple Attackers, Rampardos has the edge, especially if you employ ambush strategies to stop a team fight before it begins. Opposing Speedsters will be tricky, as they’re more agile than you, but all the same, you can take them out in a couple of hits with the element of surprise. It’s the Defenders and All-Rounders you have to worry about, as being underleveled when you engage them means your attacks aren’t as strong as they could be, and you’ll be on the receiving end of the respawn timer more often than not, unless you step up your EXP farm game.
At the start of the game, farming will be a little difficult, as Headbutt’s cooldown reset effect only works on pokemon from the opposing team, not wild pokemon. You’ll have to work with Leer until you reach Level 4, where it becomes either Stealth Rock or Ancient Power. Stealth Rock is useful against long range Attackers that like to keep their distance with hit and run tactics. It also works well against Speedsters who like to dive in and deal high burst damage before escaping. Stealth Rock sets up a No Trespassing Zone that’s too risky for them to cross, limiting their available range and weakening them greatly if they get caught in the field of floating rocks. Ancient Power, on the other hand, is useful for dealing with melee attackers who employ rapid fire attacks to deal damage, such as Defenders or All-Rounders. It makes it difficult for them to approach you and also rewards you for their aggression, as each hit powers up Rampardos through Ancient Power’s protective effect.
At Level 7, you evolve from Cranidos to Rampardos, and then you’d have to choose between Zen Headbutt or Head Smash. While Head Smash is capable of ludicrous damage, Zen Headbutt is for reserved smashing. It makes team fights a little safer as it boosts your defense while charging and makes you resistant to hindrances, making it very difficult for the enemy to stop. It’s best used when you are rushing into battle as backup, stopping the enemy dead in their tracks with a well placed Zen Headbutt, threatening them with another, and pushing them back. With Head Smash, though, you can crash the party and carry off the offenders, running them over and crashing into a wall to deal great damage. The more you got in one go, the better, as Head Smash will also reduce it’s own cooldown as a reward for smart aiming. Missing with Head Smash is really bad, as it means you failed to get multiple enemies in one charge and you’ll have to deal with the high cooldown afterwards. The attack is to be used smartly, as it can literally make or break a team fight for your side. And it cannot be overstated that both moves are powered up by your basic attack, dealing triple damage with a maximum of 6 hits on any enemy.
The real problem is Rampardos’s lack of bulk. While it’s not the frailest of the Speedsters (it’s actually bulkier than Gengar, Zoroark, and Dodrio stat wise), it doesn’t hold up to repeated stray hits, and it lacks elusive or self-sustaining abilities. Literally it’s whole game plan is to just hit things so hard, they can’t counterattack, because they’ll be in respawn resting off a killer headache. Cranidos and Rampardos are really effective at this too, but the problem is handling multiple enemies in one go. Sure, moves like Head Smash, Stealth Rock, and its basic attack do help a bit in dealing spread damage, the attack is spread too thin and makes Rampardos very vulnerable to counterattacks. Stealth Rock is great at slowing the enemy down and limiting their retreat, unless they choose not to retreat and confront you. Sure, Head Smash hits like a train, but bulkier enemies will survive the attack and will be poised to counterattack, especially if they have backup. Your basic attack will dramatically increase the power of your headbutting attacks, but engaging just one enemy will be risky, and it’s all lost if you get KO’d before you can use the attack.
What Rampardos can do really well is opening up holes in the opposing team’s fortifications. Many pokemon rely on their abilities to shrug off hindrances and damage, but that protection is ignored thanks to the Mold Breaker ability. Espeon and Glaceon rely on their abilities to shake off surprise hits and respond appropriately, but they are defeated by enemies that can apply multiple hindrances in one loadout. Rampardos doesn’t give them that chance and can ruin their day with just one attack, removing them from the fight via blunt force trauma. In other cases, Rampardos can deal such a huge amount of damage, it leaves the entire enemy team weakened, even if it gets KO’d too early. This huge chunk of HP it takes away gives the team just enough of an opening to capitalize and break through.
Playing Rampardos requires dealing big damage not for yourself, but for the team. It requires recognizing problematic opponents and eliminating them from the fight before they can meddle with your teammates. The rest of the opposition can be held off with a well aimed Head Smash or Zen Headbutt, and even after being KO’d, your team is in such a good position they can afford to press on even with 1 less player.
In this sense, Rampardos has earned the title of a Speedster, using its high damage to poke Skull Fossil shaped holes in the enemy’s defenses, reducing their ability to respond to the opposing team’s aggression. Smashing.
-
And that’s Rampardos for Pokemon Unite! I know I’ve been churning out these posts really fast, but really, I’ve just found myself some extra time on my hands. Don’t expect this to last, but do consider this as an apology for my late uploads early on in the season.
The next post is probably going to be a Defender, one of my personal favorites from Gen 4. Who’s it gonna be? Follow and find out!

Finally got the portrait of Sunny done, little guy was nervous and didn’t want to smile at the camera for awhile. The Tucker family portraits are once again complete! Craig wasn't expecting another kid this late in life but Tweek was just very persistent, even I wasn't sure if I liked the idea of them having another but Sunny is just the sweetest little tiny baby so.. Good call Tweek.
Thank you to my friend @sparkles-and-trash for making Sunny look so insanely adorable, and for making the rest of the Creek family look amazing as well!

I don’t know what happened to Kishimoto. He designed Boruto characters and they look ugly. Also in Gaiden I really don’t like his drawing style, like it is different from what it used to be. In Naruto he created so amazing designs.
You know, when I was a kid... my mom used to cook stuffs which I hate (citing health reasons).... Not only did she cook those stuffs.... but she would forcefully make me eat them and if I don't.... there will be a big thunderstorm that will occur eventually... (Asian Households are like this)....
I definitely don't want to face my Mom's wrath and at the same time I can't eat that thing since it's so unpalatable to my taste bud....
So, I found a way.
Took a blob of that food... dumped it in my mouth.... Took a big sip of Water and swallowed it.... like a Tablet. [[Believe me... It was such a gruesome and embarrassing scene to look at.. ROFL]]
I just told her... "Ma! You are making me do something I hate.... So, Don't expect me to enjoy doing it either... Because If I eat like this in front of other people, it will definitely cause some major second hand embarrassment for you.... And that's exactly what I want...."
LOL... Now put Kishi in my place, SP/SS/NH in my mom's place, that Food in Next Gen series' place...
Probably Kishimoto was also like me, I guess. That's why he screwed up everything starting from Character Design, like a broody and angry little kid.

You keep insisting that the ending Naruto pairings are the reason Boruto's sales are nowhere near as great as Naruto's, yet how come Boruto Naruto the Movie has brought in far more income than both RTN and The last combined? The Boruto Movie has gained almost 40.000.000$ while The Last only 20.000.000$ and RTN only around 17.000.000$. The reasons boruto is not as popular as naruto was is because the plot sucks, the anime has too many garbage fillers, the artstyle in the manga sucks, the new gen characters suck, and the manga wasn't even written by Kishimoto until recently. It has nothing to do with pairings. Hell, if NS became canon, people would've hated it even more, considering how hated Sakura was, and you even admitted she is the most hated character. And you also contradict yourself. First you say she's the most hated, then you say SP missed a marketing opportunity with her... like girl make up your mind? She's the most hated character in the franchize, in a poll she was chosen as the most hated by both male and female, even Kishimoto went out of his way to say girls came at him and said how much they despised Sakura, most people don't give a shit about her, using her as marketing strategy would've done more harm than good. She's even more hated in Japan and other Asian fandoms than she is in the western fandom, and that already says a lot! You're really arrogant to assume that the "silent majority" you speak of are all NaruSaku fans. I guarantee you it isn't. In fact, most people don't even care about ships that much. NaruSakus, you along with the SNS fans, SS fans, NH fans are part of the vocal minority that has nothing better to do than bitch about ships all day long.
But did I ever say that they were THE ONLY reason they are bad? They are an integral part of it yes, but not the only one.
Just because you saw some asks of mine here on Tumblr, you just throw these things around, like this is the only place I talk about the story of Naruto and this is the only aspect I do.
Yes, here on Tumblr I might do it through the virtue of the asks I receive, but that doesn't mean it's the only space I address these matters.
I have other social media channels as well where I discuss other aspects as well. Ya know, how like Boruto is nothing more than a tweaked "cooler" wanna-be version of Naruto, with no real substance whatsoever, a story that doesn't truly leaves a message behind, a morale, with characters that are the shells of their former selves or mechanics that are skewed and "free of" any logic.
But sure, make it as if that's the only aspect I talk about if that makes you sleep well at night.
As for the reason Boruto made so much? Well, I'll tell you why: because it had NaruSasu. Because they knew they messed-up with The Last, so they did the next best thing they could to try and keep the fanbase engaged.
Focused on the biggest portion of the fanbase that gathered around both shippers and non shippers by the virtue of focusing on Sasuke and Naruto and their offsprings. You know why? Because this way they catered to two human emotions: familiarity/comfort & curiosity.
Aka familiarity via having NaruSasu and curiosity to see the new gen kids.
Which yes, had momentum and seemed to have a perfect recipe: no focus on the ships that initially brought he whole mess (Sakura and Hinata were close to non-existent in that movie), and "repaying" the fanbase that was initially pissed at the fact that people thought this was gonna be a T7 movie because of the heavy Kakashi and Ssuke advertisement when they were there to be found for onlyyy few seconds, lol.
But you see, in the test of time, Boruto failed because of the aforementioned reasons.
You say that people would've hated the ending if NS would've been canon, yet curiously enough the number of people that are even non shippers and agree to the idea that NS should've been canon has been increasing over the years. Which in a really curious way was surprising to me too as an NS fan that returned to the fandom after so long.
So you see, I am not sure exactly about that aspect there. Not to mention, since when does a story has to do what the fanbase dictates it? The story should follow its course and intended narration and that's that.
Yes, Sakura was hated, but that's not a reason to not have Naruto end-up with her because within the story mechanics we had many proofs that indicated that they should've ended together, regardless of how people felt about them.
Kishimoto didn't say girls came at him, he said girls sent him letters, which are two different things, because to his face no one truly said that, minus the editors who kept pushing Hinata forward and their bias as well.
Lol at you saying that using her as a marketing strategy would've done more harm than good when she's the only female character being marketed right now via figurines and all those other things.
So reality seems to be contradicting you a bit on that side.
Not to mention, you say that she's the most hated even in Asia and Japan? LOL, where did u even take out these lies?
The hate phenomena has always been a western fandom thing, not an Asian/Eastern fandom one.
Tumblr media
You say that the pairings ripped with Sasuke and Naruto as well (funny how NaruSaku isn't dead even after years of being supposedly dead tho), for a character that should've been hated??
This whole hate thing was always a western fandom mirage, sadly, but in Japan and Asia she's always been loved. Like where did u even pull out that information from?
Also what I always said about a NaruSaku ending was that they could've taken a RTN route where they could've had ALL the pairings shown within a parallel universe, but sure, nice way to twist my words and make it like "I can't decide".
There are slight nuance differences which you either purposely not address or you don't know how to do the difference. The truth in this case only you know it.
But stop trying to act that high and mighty coming here on anon making it seem like ooh, I contradict myself and spread nonsense, just because you read a faction of all the ideas I discuss over my social media.
And now to address the silent majority argument. I never said silent majority are ONLY NaruSaku fans. That's what you assumed. Silent majority included NaruSaku fans yes, but also other fans who ya know, have some common sense within them and see how the story has been butchered for the sake of poorly treating a certain aspect of Naruto, which was the romantic one.
Which btw, you say that it wasn't a big deal, yet it was the no. plot included within the story, being presented as early as chapter 3, because chapter 1 and 2 revolved around Naruto wanting to become Hokage for people to acknowledge him and create bonds.
You say that the pairings aren't such a big deal in the fandom, yet guess what, SJ and SP directed a movie on that specific subject. Makes you wonder why now, doesn't it?
And it's a normal aspect to care about if you think about it for a manga that has been focused on BONDS. The romantic plot gets weaved in within the one about bonds really easily, because at the core of it it's about relationships.
And this whole world that we live it it's a relationship: between the body and the spirit, between then heaven and the earth, between friends, between relatives. EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD HAS A RELATIONSHIP BASIS: atom interacts with atom and here we are, living, breathing beings.
But sure, come to me and paint me in this way you're trying as if talking about relationships and their quality is a bad thing.
Mhmm.
Whatever floats your boat, I guess.
You're free to have your opinion, sure.
I just happen to not agree with it.
And that's that.
Have a good day or night or whatever.

Round One
It’s time to read & vote!
The 13 fics that we received for this round can be found below, or on AO3 here! Each fic follows the theme [New Adult], includes the tropes [Roommates] and [Based on a Children’s Book Series], and has a central character focus on [Octavia Blake]! When you vote, please be sure to take into consideration the USE of all these elements, because, as with all other TROPED events, the purpose is to select the authors who best utilize the requirements!
The structure for voting is simple! Please rank the thirteen (13) fics, first (1) being your top choice, and thirteen (13) being your last choice! The first poll, you will be asked to rank all 13 fics, the way you did in the Qualifying Round. This will help us to break any ties, and we will use this ranking to reorder the authors for the Bunker Brackets for Round 2. ————
the daughter of war  (Rated T) [Octavia & Niylah]
Summary: Octavia's been at Camp Half-Blood for half her life, and she has no interest in leaving. It takes a war, a near-fatal injury and the kindness of an unwanted roommate to show her that she has the strength to forge her own path.
You Choose Your Race (And Then You Run) (Rated T) [Octavia & Carole]
Summary: Octavia has always lived in her older brother’s shadow. Everyone knew her just as Bellamy’s little sister -- if they knew her at all. Homeschooled for most of her life, she had few friends of her own and was so excited to finally step out into the world and follow in her brother’s footsteps to be a political science major at Boston University.
Until she flunked out of college. She realized she isn’t her brother, can’t be her brother, and wants to run as far as she can in the other direction. She leaves the university with no direction and winds up in Willow Creek, Virginia, rooming with Carole Hanson who is taking a gap year to work at Pine Hollow and save up for vet school.
We Are The Wild Youth (Rated T) [Octavia & Josephine]
Summary: Between what has to be the worst roommate ever, and trying to find her place on the school equestrian program, Octavia is struggling to find her place in her second year of college. When she finds out she is finally going to get to compete in her first ever horse show, will anything actually go right?
courage, dear heart (Rated T) [Gen Fic]
Summary: Now, this is a story you may know...
There were four children who went through a magical wardrobe, and became kings and queens of a magical land.
To the glistening eastern sea, I give you Queen Raven the Resourceful. To the great western woods, King Wells the Wise. To the radiant southern sun, Queen Clarke the Commanding. And to the clear northern skies, I give you King Bellamy the Benevolent. Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia
....but this is not the story to be told. This story is of a fifth child, who was hidden and forgotten.
To the holder of the compass, Octavia the Osleya, I give you the Champion of Narnia.
choices made in sp[r]ite (Rated T) [Octavia/Murphy]
Summary: Octavia scowled, lying back down on the bed, wishing for nothing more than to wake up from whatever nightmare she was currently residing in.  Sure, she had been a little bit unhinged since graduating from Haven City Prep School, but that didn’t mean Bellamy had to leave her in a cell just because she got in another fight!
or... and they were cellmates (oh my god, they were cellmates)
Once a king or queen of Narnia... (Rated T) [Octavia & Bellamy]
Summary: They grow up together. Twice. That would mess with anyone's head.
laying down my past i scream (this is not the end of me) (Rated T) [Octavia & Murphy]
Summary: The last person Octavia wanted to be stuck in a cell with was Murphy.
Not after he betrayed her, turned to the enemy's side.
Tried to kill her.
But maybe she didn't yet know the full story.
- or the Eragon/100 crossover where Octavia has a dragon and so does Murphy and they're stuck in a cell together
and now we're grown-up orphans (that never knew their names) (Rated T) [Octavia & Clarke]
Summary: In a world where every person is allowed to have only one child, Octavia Blake has lived her whole life in hiding. But when she's nineteen, she gets the salvation she'd given up on: a new identity.
Specifically, the identity of the recently deceased Josephine Griffin.
Even In Death May You Be Triumphant (Rated T) [Octavia & Indra]
Summary: Octavia was woken by the soft rustling of dirt being moved above her. The sound was methodical, growing louder and closer, before the thud of the shovel hitting her coffin lid signaled the start of her new life. Indra had come for her.
OR
Octavia and Indra Vampire AU based on the Cirque du Freak series (Mainly the Vampire Blood Trilogy)
It's about growing up (Rated G) [Octavia & Bellamy]
Summary: Bellamy and Octavia have spent every moment of her life together, but a trip back in time in a treehouse they had played in as a kid helps to finally break open the tense air between them, and lets them find new footing.
cause the big dog's moving in (Rated T) [Octavia x Murphy]
Summary: Murphy's new roommate came with a dog, which was really the best kind of bonus.
"He's a red lab," Octavia had told him when he'd asked. "And he's big."
Murphy had seen labs before and while, yeah, they were decently large, they weren't that big, but, really, he was just excited to have a dog by association.
Maybe he should have asked for at least pictures or something, though, because he definitely hadn't anticipated just how big Octavia's big red dog really was.
Do act mysterious. (Rated T) [Octavia x Levitt]
Summary: Octavia has learned a lot over her years in college.
She's learned that she has a knack for solving mysteries, that she wants to make a steady income in sleuthing once she graduates with her criminal justice degree, and most recently, that she has a thing for her roommate, Levitt.
So when Levitt's entire life implodes against his will, Octavia finds herself diving head first into solving the mystery of who the culprit is, determined to restore Levitt's name and bring the guilty party to justice.
(She just wishes it didn't involve interacting with all of her college exes in the process.)
The Unshakable Queen, Her Broken Mind, And a Heart Long Since Castaway (Rated T) [Gen Fic]
Summary: Octavia kom Wonkru has had a rough week. Well more like a rough past six years, but who's counting? Prettyu soon though she finds the solace she's been looking for and she gets dragged into a fairytale, literally!
A land of stories and the 100 crossover that no one wanted but you got anyways!

Iruma-kun 10 - 12 | Shinchou Yuusha 9 - 12 (FINAL) | Dr Stone 22 - 24 (FINAL) | BnHA 72 - 74 | Stars Align 9 - 12 (FINAL) | No Guns Life 10 - 12 (FINAL)
Iruma-kun 10
That mascot is still around to annoy poor Kalego, huh? (LOL) I also noticed the demonstration demons have horns like oni.
Oh no! This means Azz-Azz is a prime target for Iruma!
(I was going to write something. Then I got so engrossed in the action, I forgot to…)
LOL, Sabro’s too heavy for Team A to lift!
Oh, Iruma’s hair isn’t tied anymore…
“…pruning this cactus.” – Does Eggie-sensei like plants?
Ooh, the first double-parter ever for this show, I think it is.
Shinchou Yuusha 9
Apparently ep 10 got delayed…*sigh*
LOL, thre’s product placement for a certain ice cream brand in this episode, huh?
Can we not with the boob grope???
*Rista takes care of Mash and Elulu* - Rista’s such a mom sometimes…
Stars Align 9
This one scene with Nao looks really blue…it’s almost unsettling.
Oh dear…I understand the sentiment of an inferiority complex all too well.
Dr Stone 22
Now we’re back to good ol’ science vs. survival of the fittest philosophy clash. Now, see, that’s the Dr Stone I like best!
Torricelli’s law.
Why is mica like baumkuchen? Probably because it has a lot of layers…
Wow, for WSJ – which encouraged fangirls all over the world to make yaoi/shonen ai ships – they sure tossed out the yaoi/shonen ai option real fast…
Skarn. I’ve never heard of it until now.
Magma, staring at the product of magma…LOL.
I…don’t get it. Even after watching the bit again, I don’t understand why Magma was trying to save Senku.
So…as is said for most WSJ series, the treasure was the friends we made along the way…LOL, what a way to acknowledge a trope.
Lemme guess…surprise birthday party? (Sorry, when I was reading up on Magma earlier, I saw that Magma helps with a birthday surprise for Senku and I found out what it was.)
I wonder if Rei is still up there at this point…? (Who’s Rei? You’ll find out if you read the Byakuya reboot…)
Well, “Rock Day” only works in Japanese. The language would’ve drifted over thousands of years so it shouldn’t work in the year 5731 (or whatever year Dr Stone is set).
Dr Stone 23
One episode until the end…but I’m away over Christmas, so I’ll have quite a bit to catch up on when I’m back. Update: I never did end up going away over Christmas.
Senku is much more of a trickster hero than an action hero. That’s been pretty obvious all the way through, but here it’s at its most obvious.
Oh, so Kaseki made the village bridge? Is that a correct assumption…? Update: I think the answer was yes from the manga.
How much chemistry does Gen know, anyway? Assuming he’s a humanities person because of psychology and his tricks, it must only be basic, right?
Thse intense stares…I’ve been reading JJBA: DiU lately, so I’m expecting an 80s-style “!!” to appear over someone’s head at this point, LOL.
Ooh, hardware. In fact, it looks like the inside of a computer…or, more relevant to this case, a phone.
So it’s not “rules are rules” anymore? Now Kinro’s changed his words to reflect his faith in Senku…hmm! Interesting! (Update: A quick google says Kinro is 18. Senku is about 18 (+ 3700 years). Plus, after they start dragging Ginro away, Kinro says his trademark line.)
Wouldn’t the coal smoke alert Tsukasa of the village’s location, though…? Then again, thanks to Homura and Hyouga, Tsukasa already knows their location…oops.
Rochelle salt.
I saw that one shot of the world from the 1st OP and I thought there was meant to be a post-credits segment…LOL, nope.
Dr Stone 24 (FINAL)
The “acquisition message” basically said “We didn’t (just) need one cell phone, (so) it was useless!” Notably, it uses the counter for large items (like computers) for the phone.
Having finished the Byakuya reboot now, I wanna cry every time I hear about the guy…
Oh! The eyecatch is a record!
Basically, what records do is that they recreate sounds by using vibrations created by the grooves of the disc. Sound is a set of vibrations.
“Astronauts are science elites…” – Except maybe Lillian Weinberg…
I like Shamil out of the guys from the Soyuz the most. He’s a cross between Tsukasa and Senku. Stoic yet skeptical, a voice of reason for Byakuya’s sillier outbursts.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the shield was made with CGI, tbh.
Byakuya’s humour here is betraying the emotional capacity of the scene…it’s gone from “100% tear-inducing” to “confusing”.
Please sing Tsubasa wo Kudasai, Lillian…*crosses fingers*
I didn’t get what I wanted, but oh well. This song is good too. (I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the record player was CGI too. It’s good CGI for sure.)
LOL, Puyo Puyo! Even Sherlock Holmes! Dragon Ball, Nintendo Switch, VR, Saiyuki! It’s like a treasure trove of references!
Normally the s2 announcement comes after the credits, so I was thrown for a loop when it was announced before the ED…anyways, this is the end of the s1 coverage. See you for s2!
BnHA 72
[no notes, sorry!]
Iruma-kun 11
Robin looks like Iruma…(this vaguely annoys me.)
I noticed Keroli (sp?) is in the back left, alone…that’s kinda sad.
Sabro is hella tall…even taller than Azz-kun, and that says something.
Ah…I love Eggie-sensei. He’s so funny!
Really? I thought Sullivan wrote them (the rules).
I wanna see an episode where Eggie-sensei can’t turn into his fuzzy form and has to do familiar activities with Iruma. That, or an episode where Eggie-sensei has some human parts and some familiar ones (although that would scare some little kids, I think…)
What a Machiavellian mindset Eggie-sensei has!
Iruma’s got wine, people! Underage drinking is a no-no! (partially joking)
Good on ya, Clara! Go kick those girls to the kerb!
The butterflies are so beautiful in this show!
So basically school clubs.
Hmm…it’s almost a Fordist approach. I mean, “freeing yourself up to do other things” is basically the entire ethos of that.
NGL 10
I was reading JJBA: DiU today and Colt seriously looks like a Jojo’s character…
“Your face is just like…”
N-No way! You mean, the Victor Mary’s wanted to see all along…is the other gunhead…?! Geesh, what a plot twist!
Stars Align 10
“We all play to win.” – That’s very Maki of you, Maki.
Shinjo/Oshimi???? That must be Ryoma…! By the way, what’s up with these Itsuse twins…?
Who’s Hatanooka? Update: That’s the team with Joy in it…and those fangirls who busted Mitsue up.
F*** it…Arashi, I wanna pummel you someday.
LOL, you can sell your temmates out with chanpuru, huh, Arashi?
Did Maki suggest something subliminally…?
*Maki and Toma run around* - LOL, this play is completely unorthodox, haha. I can tell even if I’m no expert.
Shinchou Yuusha 10
We’re back after another week’s break…
Come to think of it, how do fantasy worlds have concepts of “hours”?
LOL, how convenient it was that there just happened to be a dude needing healing walking past! (partially sarcastic, partially meaning it since the circumstances foreshadowed it)
“Talent”, eh? *stares at the camera, which is showing Rista’s boobs, with disapproval*
The Demon Spirit Orb is basically a monster cell from OPM 2, isn’t it…?
If Seiya came from our world…then I’m sorry, Wolks, but whoever told you is completely and utterly wrong. *gestures at all the conflicts around the world, including political turmoil*
“Are you calling…”
No Guns Life 11
Second-last ep!
Oh great…another yandere?(I read JJBA: DiU hardcover vol. 2 yesterday, so I’m still thinking about Yukako Yamagishi…)
There’s a convertible in the OP, though…I wonder if that will come into play later. Update: Even if it does come into play in the future, it doesn’t happen in ths cour.
Stars Align 11
It was like Joy was showing off to the camera…LOL.
Apparently, Joy’s name is a weird reading for yorokobi (happiness).
This feels like a final episode…
Hmm. I thought Yonex sponsored this. Turns out that’s a parody logo after all (or at least, here it’s a parody).
One of the Itsuse bros looks exactly like Maki, so it’s confusing…
I’m still confused as to why Shijo Minami’s shirts say nantei on them. The minami might be nan in another way of reading it, but…the shi can only be read kokorozashi otherwise and while the jou can be read many, many ways, tei isn’t one of them.
Ume = plum blossom, so that purple-pink colour really suits them.
BnHA 73
Eri’s name means, literally, “to break reason”.
This scene with the stars and the dancefloor…that’s new.
Iruma-kun 12
Sometims you forget this dork *points at Azz* is more powerful than Iruma and Clara…
You can see Clara and Iruma in the shot of Azz-kun.
The reason why I like calling Kalego “Eggie-sensei” is because he doesn’t like it!
I love how the narrator is even aware it’s been mentioned several times Iruma can’t decline requests.
New Magic is basically science…?
Oh, it would be hilarious if this character Iruma just bumped into and he (Iruma) would be in a Battler together…but I’ve read spoilers, so I know what Iruma will join…
Is this some kind of allegory for technology…?! *eyes sparkle* Yes, I want in! Iruma! Join this club!
Even this demon’s clip is a book! Amazing!
Clara! She dab! In a pot!
Come to think of it, in the basic premise, Iruma-kun (the show) is Kenja no Mago, right? The Wise Man’s Grandson…sort of.
Shinchou Yuusha 11
Almost at the end…I’ll sorely miss this show.
Is Tiana some former version of Rista…?
How old is Seiya again…? Update: Apparently he’s 17…and if he’s the same age as he used to be in this flashback, then…kinda squicky, no?
Stars Align 12 (FINAL)
I heard this show dropped the ball and that Nao’s mother got a rant, but otherwise I don’t quite know what happens here…so let’s finish what we started. Update: Nao’s mother’s rant was in a previous episode.
Oh hey! It’s that running thing Nao and Taiyo were doing…I think. (I don’t think I’ve grasped everyone’s names, even over 12 eps, so I had to check Taiyo’s name up.)
Oh, these gremlins…*sighs happily but also exasperatedly* No wonder this show took out a top 10 position for my 2019 list.
I’m worried now…there’s always a last minute thing to ruin an episode on this show.
I always thought Ryoma’s hair was pretty nice…(small LOL). That’s just my bias for bishonen showing though.
I’m…scared now…Maki’s dad must’ve come back and the red in the sky really sold that moment…
Maki…no!!!!!!!! Aw, f***, that’s the final seconds…geesh, way to end the series. If this were a 2 cour, I’d definitely watch the next one, but since I heard through ANN that this is all we have so far, really, the only thing I can do for a passion project is hope another cour gets funded and (maybe) purchase what I can to help out. Well, that’s it, folks, skedaddle out of here until next time.
No Guns Life 12 (FINAL)
This pendant reminds me of the mana compass I saw in Fate/Zero yesterday.
I bet Danny planted those footprints…or something like that. Update: Yup, he did.
Come to think of it, is Juzo still missing his arm from last time…?
“You weren’t my client, little lady.” – There’s one of two possible options here, I think: 1) the hands guy was or 2) Danny was.
I wonder, will the hand Extended ever become his (Juzo’s) left hand? Or will he get an Extension for it?
Wow, second huge end-of-season cliffhanger! Juzo got a new buddy, it seems…anyway, see you in spring!
Cautious Hero 12 (FINAL)
If the Valkyryja (sp?) isn’t magic…what is it???
That one guy lying on the side of the fountain, looking all drunk…LOL.
Geez, you make me wanna cry, show!!!
Even the alarm clock is dejected…geez…
This is…the best conclusion of the fall season in that Seiya defeated the Demon King and the story wrapped up properly, but the worst in that Seiya died. No one died in Stars Align, even if they failed a tonne! So…I dunno. I guess it should be happy it ended optimistically…anyways, enough of my moping. See you next time.
BnHA 74
Shin Nemoto = “the truth of the origin of the sound”, if you stuck the particle no between each character.
Tintin got scary, LOL.
Lemillion, making “no capes” go out of fashion again (LOL).
Wow, talk about a clip show…! This is really one.
Check the end of the episode, don’t forget to watch the post-credits segments, people.

My OFFICIAL Best/Worst TS3 EPs - REVISED 2019
I did a 2014 Sims 3 countdown list here, but since then I’ve played a lot more, and changed my mind about a few things. (Except the SPs -- I stick by what I said about those.)
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: My “best/worst” is really just my personal favorites, with no real bearing on how well I think EA actually created the game, the quality vs quantity, how they executed the concepts, or anything like that.
With that said, let’s go Worst to Best this time! >:D
11 - Late Night: My opinion hasn’t really changed; if anything it’s gotten worse, especially after Boroughsburg went and dookied all over Bridgeport. XD
Tumblr media
10 - Island Paradise: I’ve yet to even touch Isla Paradiso (I plan to...eventually), but the mermaids are meh & I was bored underwater (there’s not much to do); I don’t give a eff about resorts; and though I really like all the boats, they’re a EFFING HEADACHE to route & control. The new collectibles & items are cool, but I don’t feel my gameplay expanded all that much, as most of those objects are just a new, more colorful/tropical coat of paint on the regular stuff we already have. (Formerly #9)
9 - Generations: A huge expansion, yes, but when I’m not playing with kids (which is most of the time, outside of my Malec gameplays), I sometimes forget this pack exists. I disabled Memories & Imaginary Friends almost as soon as I installed Gen, and Story Progression on Day 1, so all I ever really use is the toys. It REALLY should’ve been basegame, or added in a free patch the way the TS4 Toddlers stuff was. Especially considering it didn’t include a new world to play in. And for all its claims, it effing ignored Elders, lbr. The new CAS & Build/Buy items get the most use from me by far, and the new sorting/filtering systems they added. (Formerly #7)
8 - University: I have zero intention of ever using the university mechanics, or going to the world at all (RL school already traumatized me enough; thanks). But I really like the Plantsims (a heck of a lot more than Mersims), and again, the collectibles & new CAS/Build/Buy items are the coolest part for me. I LOVE the harvestables, possibly even more than the ones in Supernatural. And the Buy Mode objects are effing cool -- the wealth of hobbies & skills stuff especially.
7 - Showtime: My feelings about SHT have been conflicted since it was first announced. I still feel like it’s an expansion of an expansion (*cough* Late Night *cough* cuz it needed one -- or two *cough* Supernatural *cough* -- I’m ALLERGIC to EA’s BS!). I never used Simport, I don’t like Katy Perry, the Genie lifestate is glaringly out of place, and Starlit Shores is just ok. But the keeper for me is hands down the new professions, particularly the Magician, and I absolutely LOVE the CAS & Build/Buy items. (Formerly #6)
6 - Pets: I. Am. IMPRESSED. I think this is possibly the second best EP in the whole game (the best =/= my favorite). I’ve owned Pets & IP for years, though I was never able to run them on my old laptop, and had to wait till late 2017 before I got a new one with better specs. While IP was a letdown for me, Pets certainly isn’t; it’s so cool having pets & wildlife in the game! (Formerly #10)
Tumblr media
—The rest I didn’t change my original ranking for, I just have more to say—
5 - Seasons: Still the best, most well-made EP out of the bunch (which says a lot, cuz it had its flaws, too). Winter is still my favorite (which is ironic, cuz I effing hate snow & cold IRL), but I still think the “holidays” mechanics & content are really bad -- EA was so busy trying to be politically correct that they watered down each and every one. At least small yet welcome additions/improvements were made in TS4, but TS2 still had the best, IMO. I miss Father Time.
4 - Into the Future: A STAPLE for sci-fi gameplay, along with Showtime & Ambitions (and Seasons, for sneaking in the Aliens for no effing reason). But I am SO IN LOVE with the Build/Buy items, that I use them all the time. (I frikkin hate a lot of the CAS nightmare fuel, though.)
3 - World Adventures: I get tempted to bump WA up to #2, but I honestly don’t use the tomb exploration much at all, the mummies scare me, and I never cared for Champs les Sims; I think Monte Vista’s much prettier, with more interesting townies. I just love the fact that they added new cultures and lifestyles -- the worlds (plural!) are the biggest draw. 3rd best game, because they could’ve done so much more, but for the first EP out the gate, it’s a great expansion.
Tumblr media
2 - Ambitions: Granted, I disabled Laundry (cuz eff chores); I don’t play in Twinbrook much anymore; and ITF’s Plumbbots make the Simbots look like a bad joke. But the content? The content. Dude: they’re EXPANDED. The traits, professions, hobbies & skills are sooo good. And I refuse to give up the CAS & Buy Mode items, not to mention that some of my favorite Build Mode content is from Ambitions (especially the plants). (Magnooooooooolia Crawford XD)
1 - SUPERNATURAL: Cuz duh, of course it is. XD Major flaws, particularly with the lifestates, but the content is just too integral for fanciful simmers to pass up. I have gripes with each and every lifestate (y’all know I raved a bunch about the 3rd party mod that added magic for kids), but I still have loads of fun with what we have (even the vampires, when I suspend my disbelief >_>).

Settle in for a bit of a post, kids – time for Linkara to talk about some pokeymanz.
So as I’ve stated on numerous occasions, when I first started playing Pokémon, it was on an emulator. I was young, I didn’t have money, and it was rare for my parents to spend any money on video games or video game consoles (we had PCs, if we wanted to game, plenty of good games out for PC). I would eventually get a Gameboy Pocket and a proper copy of Pokémon Blue, but when I started? Emulation was the way in.
Now of course being young and stupid and not being able to foresee problems in the future, I did not think to KEEP the save files in those ROMs, never figuring that I’d still want to have those Pokémon or even know how to transfer them over to a proper cartridge like I do now. As such, they have many, many times been saved over, deleted, and lost. Still, my computer has been built on top of itself a few times over, to the point where I do still find files from 2001 or the like if I dig deep enough. So occasionally, on a whim, I will go through the old emulator files I have to see if I can find an old save file of one of my original playthroughs. It’s a hopeless endeavor and I’ve done it multiple times now and it never yields results.
So during one of these efforts, I stumble upon my Pokémon Sapphire ROM. As a reminder there, much like with the Gameboy games, I didn’t have a Gameboy Advance until muuuuch later (and an SP at that) and my fandom in Pokémon had fallen off the map by the early 2000s, so when Ruby and Sapphire came out, I didn’t even really pay attention to it. Then, on a whim, I decided to get the ROM for Sapphire and play it. For the record, I was not a fan. It wasn’t that it was terrible, just that the Pokémon for Gen 3 didn’t really do anything for me. I played through it as best as I could, eventually beating the Elite 4 MOSTLY because I didn’t know much about the game and assumed that, like Gold/Silver, I’d be able to travel back to Johto after I beat the Elite 4 and play through a second region like in those games. Hell, there even seemed to be two ports that served no other purpose in the game (whooo, you can sail between them… when you could also just Fly…), but of course to my disappointment that was not the case. I was grumbly about it, did some Gameshark codes in the emulator to get a team of legendaries, then a team of Pokémon from Gens 1 and 2 that I liked, but in the end just gave up on it and moved on.
So on a whim, I load up the Sapphire ROM and look through some of the save states. I find the legendary one, I find the one with Gen 1/2 Pokémon… aaaand then I find a playthrough of my original team. This was Pre-Elite 4, but after I had reached Evergrande City, so I was clearly just training for the Elite 4 at that point. So here they are – the six Pokémon that I had trained to be my team in a game I didn’t really like all that much. This was the earliest team of Pokémon that I had ever raised that were still available. The save file was from 2003. They were almost fifteen years old. They had just been sitting here, waiting. Their future had been erased. Their only fate was to sit and wait to finish the game when that was never going to happen, never going to continue, hoping that their trainer would finish the job that he had started.
That was unacceptable.
I may not have liked Gen 3 that much, but dang it, these were my first ones from it, and I’ll be damned if I was going to let them spend another day there instead of fulfilling their destiny. I fired up a bunch of the equipment that I had gotten for the Gen 1/2 trade-up video (some of it was in disrepair, like the GBA Flash cart, so I used the DS emulator trading option I described in the video to get them) and got these bad boys up to Alpha Sapphire.
Hell yeah. Not only are these six going to beat the Elite 4, they’re going to beat a TOUGHER Elite 4 – the one for the remake games, since obviously I had already beaten Alpha Sapphire (I liked Alpha Sapphire more, but that team was 5/6 made of Pokémon from other generations – my starter was a Zubat – just wanted a team of Pokémon I had always wanted to try). Let me introduce you to these dudes.
Back in the day, I didn’t nickname my Pokémon – thought it was dumb. I’m older now and I LOVE nicknaming them. Gives them more character and uniqueness. First up – Sceptimus. I’m not particularly fond of any of Gen 3’s starters, which is a shame since they’re all good, so at the time I went with the one I disliked least, which was Treecko. Nowadays while I hold no particular attachment to them, I do still appreciate Sceptile’s badass tail and leaf blade arms. And of course now in Alpha Sapphire, he’s a friggin’ DRAGON, too.
Next – Sniperbird. A lot of times the token bird of the generation ends up on the team, usually as a well-balanced Flying-type and this Swellow is no exception. The name comes from a bit in Birdemic where twice a random bird just straight up swoops on and kills people with one shot. I affectionately referred to it both times as Sniperbird. Now look at this Swellow – tell me you can’t see this thing flying in and killing you in one hit.
Third – MAKIT. This one, as you can tell by the original trainer name is an in-game trade for a Slakoth. Most would probably keep the Slakoth to get a Slaking, but at the time, knowing nothing about the game, I didn’t know what a Makuhita was and Slakoth didn’t impress me. While Hariyama has never really done much for me, Makuhita is an adorable little boxer with a permanent grin and I love it. While Hariyama’s design might not impress, it’s my first Fighting Type I ever had as a party member and he will beat your ass like a drum.
Fourth is Positra. Plusle and Minun are Gen 3’s Pikachu variant and of course at the time I didn’t realize it would never evolve, but look at this thing – it’s adorable and its cheeks are shaped like plus symbols. Positra might not be the strongest, but damn if it ain’t cute and it can still zap you if given the chance. Electrike and Manectric always looked weird to me, but Plusle is fast and it can hit hard if given the chance.
Then we have Geist. Sableye, until Fairy type came along, used to be a Pokémon without any weaknesses. I don’t even remember catching this guy back in the day or having him on my team, yet here he is. I likely just enjoyed him because of the weird ghost design and wanted a Ghost type for my team, but of course he has so much more to offer, especially nowadays since his only weakness is Fairy. His stats are not the best, but like Sceptimus his Mega Evolution can compensate for that.
And finally, Oceanus. I wasn’t fond of ANY of the water types for Gen 3 back in the day. These days I like a lot more, but for a place with so much water, I’m fairly certain I used some other Pokémon for surfing for the longest time simply because I didn’t have anything else I liked, but I was quite fond of this Legendary. Not my favorite, obviously, but it’s a big-ass whale and it can flood the entire damn planet, so you don’t mess with it.
So yeah, used the Blisseys Secret Bases to power-level them up and I’ve now beaten the Alpha Sapphire Elite Four. Hello, old friends – it’s been too long.

I totally get criticizing the latest Pokemon games(which has become a whole fandom of its own) and I've seen BD/SP get criticized for being buggy, which is (mostly) fair criticism. I've seen multiple softlocks, all of whom I hope get patched. They have a whole month before christmas hits and their target audience of 10 year olds start playing it though so I'm not too worried.
But I've also seen people throw around cutscene skips and finicky wallclips as evidence that they're "bad games", and that feels so disingenuous. Like what, you're gonna tell me that Emerald is a bad game because you can dupe Pokemon? That Red/Blue are bad because you can catch MissingNo in them? That the original Gen 4 games were *also* bad because you could clip through walls?
12 year olds aren't gonna do speedrun tricks to skip a gym leader, and if they do then that means they're doing so on purpose for fun and getting more enjoyment out of it than they would otherwise. "Has bugs = bad" is not a convincing argument to me when we have entire massively popular gaming subcultures that owe their existence to bugs.
There are fair criticisms to make, like apparently you can't turn off Exp. Share at all but the trainers/Pokemon levels are unchanged so the balancing is off and you're more likely to be overleveled, and as much as I like bugs I've seen footage of softlocks that will ruin some kid's enjoyment of the game. I'm sure there are more complaints like that to be made. But sharing a video of someone wiggling around for 10 seconds before clipping out of bounds only makes me *more* interested in the game.

Morning Notes
1.
I remember benefiting for years from the articles on DesiringGod.org and John Piper’s YouTube content but I walked away in 2014 after his response to the MV Sewol sinking was to post, ‘It Is Well with My Soul,’ as though to say, ‘Hey Christians even have songs for drowned kids.’  He wrote a beautiful and intense poem called ‘The Children’ that talks about abortion, war, abusive parents, but I just went, ‘This is “Football Christianity” and racist.’  In retrospect there are all kinds of flaws in all kinds of Christians and all kinds of gestures and jokes that they use in their communications to relate to their audience.  John MacArthur made this joke about Fresca that made me wonder whether Fresca has some sacred ‘angel-chemical.’
I feel really alienated and more Millennial than ever lately.  Stupidly in retrospect I decided that the proper response to the MV Sewol posting was to walk away from DesiringGod and even now I’ve come to have a hair-trigger rebellious rage-reaction to John Piper postings even while believing ‘Coronavirus and Christ’ 100%.
‘You said it’s good to eat dinner with your mom and dad but you also wrote that BIll Cosby’s a great guy just b/c he worked long hours and said “personal responsibility.”
I realize now that the first ‘Christian novel’ I ever tried to write was ‘Flowers on Water’ which was about the Sewol, edubusiness, Korea, America, teenage girls and college-aged young women, our relationships to the past generation, and the ways in which people my age tried to shelter or weather when we seemed to lack either economic franchise or the ‘voice’ through which the communicate to other groups the essence of Millennial identity.
I don’t want to talk about Millennial identity b/c I’m literally hoping to find out my ‘everlasting name’ in the next few days but there was something about us; we might have been disappointments to our parents yet thus far the coming post-constitutional-democracy military dictatorship hasn’t smashed our skulls en masse against the rocks - ‘happy we’ - even while Xi Jinping suddenly switched from talking about how PRC doesn’t want to take over the world (which I believe they can and which Mao their c/Creator said again and again he desired to), to talking about ‘heads bashed bloody.’
I don’t like weaving like this but when I was at Rutgers in 2004 I wrote a love-letter of sorts to a Shanghainese girl who years later I frankly saw on FB doing all these bed-pics then I went to the library, remembered the color of the light in the windows of the houses in her Central Jersey hometown near the vast Chernobyl-sarcophagus-looking Rutgers basketball stadium and I went to H-Mart in Illinois wondering, ‘Where’s Tiffany __ today?  I bet she’s Xi Jinping’s government-issued mistress.’
Today Christianity worldwide I observed was torn between apologetics and prophecy and Timothy Keller of Redeemer Presbyterian NYC wrote ‘Hope in Times of Fear’ and is a fantastic reader of Foucault, numerous other authors, and one of the most intellectually responsible Christians who does’t say stuff like, ‘Christians aren’t obligated to be interested in justice in this world b/c the Atonement already satisfied justice’ which is un-biblical.  Time was my favorite Keller sermon was about love (romantic love, ‘erotic violence honor-cult affection night and lady mentality’), and my favorite book of his was ‘Counterfeit Gods’ about the Second Commandment proscribing idolatry, and which throughout the years has made me wonder in my own life what’s an idol and what is a tool or coping-mechanism but if I’m being honest something happened around 2014-2015 that made me feel as if I had learned enough about the basics of Christianity and didn’t need to follow any father-figures or teachers anymore.  Felt I could learn more from ‘considering the beauty of the lilies’ in the form of a camcorder girl-group travel-show called ‘f(x) Koala’ my favorite reality-show.  They walked down the Champs Elysee and in those days Sulli / Choi Jinri reminded me of something or someone from my past but I didn’t realize then the beauty on their love and friendship was arguably not only synthetic and temporary but destined to be violently revoked by someone who decided that they suddenly wanted something else.
I remember reading Allan Bloom’s ‘Love and Friendship’ which was his swan-song in the hospital after the more famous ‘Closing of the American Mind,’ both of which are indictments of culture as well as theories of education via literary criticism and close-reading of one’s students.  Bloom said that an occupational hazard of teachers is hanging out with kids all the time and it is not that this ‘infantilizes’ them - though parents also get infantilized by their kids - but the more severe criticism is that the teacher develops ‘mental Grecianness’ or thinks of themselves as God or else of their students as God.  Or, they think there is no God and everything is just a ‘classic garden’ in which kids grow up and, to call out myself as well, the teacher maintains his or her nobility and religious simplicity of character vis-a-vis life whilst believing in the soul besides and beyond heart, mind, body, but not connecting their conception of the soul to a Creator or a will or plan or design or desire on the part of this Creator for that soul and its existence in Time in this world.
Anyway I have never planned my novels out as much as I like to think and I got lost in the Millennial ‘authoritative paragraph’ fetish-trap where for a moment I stopped being the problem-child and became older than my parents as regards and eagle-eyed ‘critical appreciation’ of reality and certainty of convictions.  My writer friend Miles Klee used to say years ago, of American ochlocracy I guess and our corybantic national non-conversation or fake conversation, ‘Where’s the school principal to lay down the law?’
I for years wanted to be this principal and think now about a girl I went to high school with whose essay I criticized really aggressively but who went on to Harvard GSE and became Ass’t Principal at like 27.  I for years was interested in University of Oregon, Vanderbilt, and later came to feel that the best schools for PhiEd are probably a) Korean b) Christian.  I admire Sunkyunkwan(sp?) University for being like 900 years old and Bethlehem College and Seminary in Twin Cities.  Today the best teacher training institutes I think are almost certainly in East Asia somewhere as these people made a generations long mathematically emplaced-in-history ultra-sacrificial starve-for-nuclear-weapons commitment to protecting their children.  I’m not sure how to describe it in my pure style but it is like the scene in ‘Letters from Iwo Jima’ where Lt. Gen. Kuribayashi is growling about how he is going to maim and traumatize US Marines and break their moms’ hearts for as long as possible b/c he knows at the bottom of his soul’ (as Tolstoy would say), that those American moms probably believed the Japanese kids were ‘n----- boys’ and ‘life unworthy of life.’  I was also interested in how one of the best novels of the moment James Salter’s ‘All That Is’ took the destruction of the ‘Superbattleship’ Yamato to be more meaningful than the A-bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  The Japanse sailors covered in oil, singing in the sea, till the munitions-magazine in the battleship with ‘shells the size of coffins’ explodes and, although it’s traditional high explosives of some sort and not nuclear warheads, it sends a ‘biblical pillar’ of fire something like a mile in to the sky and the flash of the combustion is visible from Kyushu.
I have no idea what Teachers College, Harvard et al. train their educators to be like except apparently psycholinguistics turned out to be important but I still want to write them off as training kids to be mentally hypercapitalist Chinese these days; and an atheistic philosophy-only with the love skimmed off version of corporatist football Christians.
I’m not against Protestantism at all but still remember reading in National Review of a book called ‘Evangelical Catholicism’ which used the phrase, ‘failure of Protestantism as a global force.’  Not to be glib and Philip Roth-y and I hate that I’m not writing in my pure style right now but, did Protestants cause Covid?  I think they were burying non-white kids’ bodies in the school yard, beating orphan juvenile delinquents to death.  I for years reflected on a Mormon practice of banishing teen boys at 14-15 (their brain would not be developed adequately to unction as a high-powered fully adjusted adult till about 27), to hoard the teen girls for the older men, which is something that could turn many hearts and minds from Christianity straight to Foucault.
Anyway the ‘crux’ or Joycean ‘epiphany’ moment of ‘Flowers on Water’ was where the protagonist let his live-in-girlfriend (Millennial) go out with her friend for the night and was drowsing over Wikipedia and Google books reading about education and happens upon a poem called ‘Flowers’ from a Christian California Teacher’s Almanac from 1881, in which the teacher was talking about life and death and it amounts in a verse form to the best commencement-address imaginable, because it is saying to these young people, ‘Heaven and Earth, life and death, “fragrance from life to life,” rather than talking about their CV’s or social activism or anything like try windsurfing or public service (Biden) or don’t do everything you can just b/c you can (Merkel).
The protagonist thinks, ‘God is sovereign in all things.’  Saves the poem as ‘Flowers 1881′ on his PC which later breaks Hong Sang Soo style; and also thinks a bit about the fact that this almanac discusses teaching-problems w/r/t assessment that appears to be identical to those 135 years later in America.  (I see now, however, that many of these American Indian or Mexican students who might’ve been reading naive and sentimental poems, Alcott, Stowe, Psalms, stories about virtuous Old Testament women with their teachers in 1881 today would be mentally human-trafficked by movies, Marxism, and MS-13).
But I still didn’t know how to end the novel at all.  The protagonist wanted to go to Lake Baikal with his girlfriend and Arkangelsk (Archangel City in Irkutsk Russian Federation).  I was obsessed with Krystal Jung in those days due to her singular ‘Persian’ eyes, bump-nose, et cetera.  I sort of abandoned ‘Flowers on Water’ b/c in autumn ‘14 they made ‘Naegeon neomu sarangseuroun keunyeo’ which has translated in various ways and when I was watching this I stopped thinking about sovereignty and started thinking about ownership itself.  ‘Somebody’s Daughter’ and ‘She Is Mine.’
I remember thinking, ‘The musical direction for My Lovely Girl Episode One would be “maestoso morendo.”’  Everyone is traumatized; the jokes are unfunny; Krystal and Rain lost sleep, gained weight, as if their accustomed process of living had failed.
However, the best moment in MLG to me is the final episode in which the male protagonist has given up writing ‘candy-pop’ to compose a dreamy music-vision of something like seeing someone’s face in the sky.  Sena realizes Soeun (two of the most beautiful names imaginable) is probably alive on the other side of death in this world.  IDK if I ought to add this but I kept getting mad at American-Koreans with their kneejerk opposition to adoption and want to cite a ‘banned’ book Elizabeth Kim’s ‘10,000 Sorrows’ about racial honor-killing and orphan-hate but I gave that up since I believed that making humane orphanages with loving faculty / parents would be a better solution to the consumer model of adoption.  However, I have never had the opportunity to study the psychology of orphans and only know that women tend to burn out quickly in care-roles at such places.
The thing about the Sewol Ferry and apologetics in the Covid era is that all this unfair stuff happened and the dead are bound away and Christianity makes people feel really good with its incredibly beautiful heritage and super-massive stockpile of wisdom and lessons - kind of ‘common grace’ - but to say Christianity is interested in better happier kids, a fairer system, a more beautiful existence for humans in this world isn’t really Jesus Christ but Barack Obama, who in retrospect was clearly defending the entitlements of the already extremely powerful whilst p-zzing America’s E. Asia policy.  But I don’t really know if I am right or wrong about these things politically; I just felt as if Obama was only ever saying good things about anyone while leaving hundreds of millions of children behind worldwide and worshipping China and failing to understand Korea’s concept of the teacher which is why Race to the Top didn’t satisfy either.
I’ve sometimes felt - ‘if I were God’ - that I would induce people through ‘whisper in the heart’ to vote against HRC in 2016 because of a) abortion and ACB and b) Obama thinking that making a lie of the Syria ‘red line’ policy was sth he had any moral right to do.  I actually know a bit about clandestine American ops in Syria but last I checked they didn’t launch an AGM at Assad’s bedroom and I actually think that’s a mistake b/c he has directly ordered mass-murder, child-rape, much else and it’s a clear case of ‘first degree murder conviction in absentia para-judicial execution or capital punishment’ it’s not even war; it’s arbitration.  So many Democrats think war is just sad but lawful ‘beareth not the sword in vain’ capital punishment is diabolically evil.  It also feeds in to my ‘nuke Babylon Milwaukee’ theory of present history where everyone is lying about everything and have decided that America’s letter-of-the-law institutions were so bad that it’s better to go back to gangsterism.
Then I’m taken to ask for being darkhearted...
The only reason not to is the whole world today’s the Roman Empire and there is some terrible ‘legitimate mandate’ by which Christians and Christian rulers have to respect other rulers no matter what.  Constantine spread ‘the ancient faith’ throughout the world; OTOH Nero killed a lot of poor people with mass-arson and it struck me just now many of those people probably a) loved Nero for going to outer space while he killed them using assets their labor had generated and b) didn’t die from burning but from deoxygenation.  But the whole crux of Christianity is the Resurrection and Eternity and I am mad at myself because I can’t even concentrate on my ‘little stories.’  I promised ‘sis’ I’d quit K-pop but then everything else fell apart and I wish I could go back to listening to IZ*ONE’s ‘Open Your Eyes’

The five eldest Thorn siblings, what and adorable bunch of hellspawn! Damien and Pip are so proud of them~
I just love how @sparkles-and-trash was able to get their personalities so right here, Lilith is the perfect princess and is so charming, Lucy and Delilah while looking sweet I trust neither of them, Griffin is a nervous little thing, probably wondering when he can stop posing for this picture and go back to Ellis, and Iggy even though he's smiling nicely theres still a smug aura around him, I don't know why but it's there. I love them so much! Thank you again for making them look so adorable!

Umm so now that anon brought up older sweetpea, ur gonna need to pop out some hella good headcanons about him :-)
bruh I have so many okay hold the fuck up we’re actually going to recieved a headcanon request and DO IT ON THE SPOT FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER.
YEAH ITS GONNA BE ABOUT CAL AND SP BC THAT’S WHO I WAS TALKING ABOUT IT IN MY IM’S WITH MY HOMIES, LETS GO SISTERS.
so after high school, sweet pea and cal had to part ways due to circumstance. sweet pea, being the devoted young man he was, was unable to bring himself to apply anywhere out of state, whereas calliope still had a tight hold on York and was desperate to venture on from Riverdale. it was a heartbreaking decision, being in another country completely without any friends she had made, and alone once again. and she hated it. and she wanted to call him every day but couldn’t. she dated once - he was second year, but decided to change his major and needed the psych course for his co-op down the line. he had pretty blue eyes and a warm smile. they had coffee twice, and he kissed her before she left the car. it was very sweet, and soft, and while cal enjoyed it, it wasn’t what she was looking for. not the same passion, or aggression, or need. she used pea as an excuse for a few different boys that approached, and after the second week, she decided that pea wasn’t going to stop some of them, so she had resorted to bringing her RBF out and put headphones in. to avoid falling into old habits with her very 420 friendly roommate, she spent most of her nights in the library or at the gym.
sweet pea took over cal’s position when she left; he started busting his ass being their newest bartender to haul in more women. and he did - of all ages, women would flock to his bar and lean forward, pressing whatever assets they had against the counter top with smirks and lusting eyes. he was uncomfortable at first; sure, women had always been a fan of him, that was no surprise. but it made him feel guilty. but when pea could afford an entire new wardrobe, pay his bills, keep the heat on in the trailer and keep gas in his bike for up to a whole week. so he started to wear his cropped sleeves, and went with fangs to their campus gym for runs and ass crack of dawn weight training. the glute pumps certainly benefited his tip jar - the routine stuck. he decided to major in business, mainly because cal had mentioned (all of one damn time, mind you) that he could probably run a business better than anyone else in the southside. fucking bet.
cal’s just graduated with a major in psych, with an econ minor and a degree in social services. her dream is to become a youth outreach worker; she wants to help work to prevent the increase in youth criminal activity by helping at risk youth. being with sweet pea had given her more than enough passion to want to help - hell, she had been an orphan herself. in and out of the foster system, group home to group home, etc. despite struggling to make just the bare necessities for himself, he had happily taken her in multiple times when she needed a place to go. fp had been that hand to steer him in the right direction - she wanted to do that, but with more kids. as many as she could, give them the drive and the hope to do better for themselves. give them the resources and guidance and offer them what they need. most of that in the area involved volunteer work at a local community center in the village, while working full time in an office as a receptionist. there’s a hot student support worker from a local foundation in the area that comes in three times a week, and he’s always chatty. his name is chris and he has a mischievous glimmer in his eyes when he leans forward and says she looked stunning; so she agrees to dinner (for the first time in four years) and goes on a date. she wears a tight red dress, modest, but the way it hugged her perfectly sculpted hips and ass was sinful. they hadn’t even made it through her door before he had her zipper undone and she moaning into his mouth; that was the first time she had gotten any since the day she left riverdale.
your boy sweet pea? he started putting savings away when he was sixteen, and got his degree in business management and psych. he took out a loan with the serpents, bought out the wyrm and is in the progress of revamping for the younger gen. tall boy and FP were seriously impressed with the mans hustle, and so when FP finally retired, the gang was left to Sweet Pea and Jughead. Now, Jughead didn’t want to be the leader, or poster boy for the serpents, or even the main influence. But he was still very passionate about advocating on behalf of them, and in a way worked as a more giving, far more kind version of penny peabody. offering mediation and ensuring that everyone stays out of trouble in the background, while sweet pea became the voice, being as respected as he was. sweet pea stands at six foot five, and over 200 pounds of gloriously lean muscles. teddy and fangs are his main event planners and bar keeps, while he ensures the books stay balanced, the bar keeps to health code standards, and offers a safe haven to southside kids with no place to go (his heartstrings pulled when he saw a fifteen year old sleeping on a park bench and he thought of toni, maybe even cal.) sweet pea turned the upstairs area into individual rooms with two beds in each for those that couldn’t get home in their drunken states or didn’t have a place to go for the time being. he has an apartment in the southside in a relatively newer building (it’s pretty big compared to the trailer lbr). a new girl came to town, and happens to stumble upon the wyrm thinking it was just another bar - sweet pea liked her fiery spirit. she stayed for a few drinks, played him in a game of pool, and he later invited her up to his office. it’s been just over a year now; she stays at his place four nights a week, because she works as a nurse and tries to get overnights on weekends.
fangs and sabine are getting married in a week and cal’s super excited for her best friend, but is also nervous. sweet pea would be there. they hadn’t spoken in years. not a single text, not a single call. and she was scared at the person she had returned to would remind him of why it was better that they had parted ways. he didn’t need to know she still thought about him every day, and still has every photograph saved on her laptop. but then her body warms at the thought of seeing him. to see if he had kept his curl, or if he had cut his hair. did he still wears so many god damn rings? so the day she lands and makes it to the boys house, she changes into a pair of ripped jeans and heels and walks her ass straight to her favourite bar
he caught sight of the blonde hair from his office upstairs; curious, he stepped outside and looked down at her while she talked eagerly with teddy. after five minutes of wondering, he joined them on the main level; sensing his arrival in the quiet bar that tuesday afternoon, she caught his eyes and then paused, turning to face him fully. her hair was just as long as always, and maybe a little tamer, not as wild, but her eyes - those fucking blue eyes still wrenched his gut and gave him butterflies. her features had sharpened, complimenting the equally pointed RBF she had perfected over the years he was sure, and her body - well, sweet pea vividly remembered what he happened to favour the most about her body. his cock twitched in his pants, but pea remained collected.
his hair was also still long, but it was pulled back now, held into a bun in the same way Teddy’s was. he had covered most of his right arm in tattoos, and she imagined they covered most of his shoulders and chest, too. his body had filled out, stretching his shirt snugly around his arms and chest. the way he says her name still makes her heart skip a beat and makes her want to destroy all her walls again. they shared a beer, he offered to take her out for lunch at pops - she agreed. they spent the day revisiting all the places they used to hangout. apart from pops, there was the quarry, sunnyside, the ruins were southside used to stand, and finally back to the wyrm. they split a couple of drinks, play some pool, and she joins him upstairs to hear more about how he had been.
the pair had been actively avoiding getting too close throughout the day. hands were shoved into pockets, shoulders ever so lightly brushed against each other as they walked every once and a while, and they were able to return back to the kids they used to be. after a few hours, it were as though no time had passed at all.
so you can imagine cal’s surprise when another blonde enters his office and calls him baby.
Calliope Hobbs was one of those women that always got what they wanted, and worked hard to have it all. Sweet Pea would be no exception.

5 Years Of Game Boy... And Counting!
Merry Christmas from BlastoiseMonster! It’s been five whole years since I’ve opened this gaming blog on that fateful afternoon of November 21st, and many shenanigans have been posted on these pages since 2012; yet, this is the first time I ever list a yearly review, which means it’ll probably turn into a summary of this last half-a-decade. The wonderful sight above is a panoramic shot of my collection as of now, which Tumblr has surely sized down because that’s the way it works! You can see the full versions here, here and here! That’s... pretty much all I have concerning the GB/GBC, except a few more small manuals and vintage advertising/warranty flyers which are boring and didn’t bother to add into the pic. A few “intruders” made it into the group shot, though- including my GBA SP with three games, a Sega Saturn CD manual, and Fulbright’s keychain and box. xD
The Numbers! in these years I’ve acquired: - Three Game Boy Colors. I started the blog with none whatsoever, and I still have to get a Berry GBC just like the one I had as a kid. After that I’ll probably stop for a while until I have a nice display for tham all. - Several accessories including a Printer, Camera, Screen Light and three Game Link Cables, two of which are limited edition. Accessories were often released by third party companies (Mad Catz among them!) and they mostly focused on enhancing the gaming experience in general, like magnifing lenses for the screen, or speaker amplifies to hear those eadrum-shredding chiptunes at full volume. However, other addons released by more official sources allowed to perform peculiar, impressive and, at times, weird activities, from listening to the radio and connecting to the Internet, to scanning barcodes and even... fishing! I’m really interested and curious to see these accessories in action, so I know what to look out for in the upcoming year. - Ten boxes, containing 18 game manuals. These are just there because they came along with games, really. xD I don’t actively collect manuals nor I care about “complete-in-box” deals because of room problems (imagine trying to store away nearly a hundred boxes!); but sometimes it just so happens that I find boxed offers that are cheaper than cartridge-only listings, and who would ever throw it away afterwards? These are still useful to store in manuals, and luckily the japanese boxes can be stuffed into the american ones for a convenient space saving technique, but if I get more of these, I’ll have to flatten them out. - One custom cartridge! The western-flavoured Pokèmon Green has been my first custom project and so far, the only one! It always striked me weird that japanese versions of the Gen I Pokègames came in bland grey cartridges as opposed to the colorful ones that got released in the western world, and I was especially disappointed to see that Pokèmon Green, which is my favourite colour, never had its appropriately coloured shell! I made my own using the plastic shell of an original cartridge and some bright green spraypaint, obviously encasing an original, japanese board inside. The one pictured in the blogposts and the group picture above is actually my second attempt, as the first one had its paint layer too thick and ended up masking the plastic’s details. I’m very satisfied of this second, final version! - 13 Black, 10 coloured, and 19 transparent cartridges against 52 grey ones! When I first bought a Game Boy as a kid, I never had a classic, grey matte game: all of my titles were Pokèmon ones, and each of them had a different colour. Nowadays my vast majority of GB games are in grey carts, but the peculiarly coloured ones still interest me so; throughout these years I’ve talked about cartridges with unique functionalities, each reflected by their colour and shape, and how the bootleggers have often tried to imitate such features. There are still so many of them out there, and a few of which are in my wishlist ready to be reviewed on this blog!
After doing the maths, I’m closing this 2017 with a grand total of 94 cartridges- just a few units away from reaching 100 games! A lot of collectors (especially the ones who had started way earlier!) would still redeem it as a pitiful selection, but personally, I would have never thought to acquire this many games one day. Living in such a small town means that technological gimmicks (videogames especially) have their prices absurdly inflated, and even budget releases were sold at full price when I was young and had to rely on my parents to get new toys; the richest, most spoiled kids I knew still didn’t have more than 10 games!
What did I reserve for the future of this blog? There’s of course many more subjects I’d like to talk about in Story Time posts (probably regarding some PC games I’ve played during the mid 2000 and then disappeared in the void!), and although it’s taking me some time, I’m scanning my entire collection of Pokèmon World issues to publish them in a massive Guide post- these mags are unfortunately getting old and fragile, but scanning them would help me preserve such documentation forever, and share it with more people! The only downside is that my collection isn’t complete and these issues are hard to find even in second-hand shops, so yeah, it may take a while for me to post a “first draft”. It goes without saying that I’ll keep collecting GB/GBC carts and post new Photos and contents about them- and if I do get more accessories or games with strange funtions, I’d also love to share Videos of these little things in action, mostly because this kind of documentation doesn’t seem to be available anywhere. And lastly I’d really love to work on other custom projects, especially regarding cartridges- although I’d love to go one step beyond and provide a personalized game as well! xP
Have a wonderful holiday, and may your upcoming years be full of happiness and entertainment! <3
