i am running around in CIRCLES for the baby trap au. how does darling treat them after she figures it out??? i’m SO IN LOVE WITH THIS
I am running in circles for YOU, Keri, because I love you so! 🩵🩵🩵
Quick note: Every ask is like a fresh AU unless there’s a link. I posted one recently that had Simon basically tranquilizing Darling, that doesn't happen here. It's fun to explore every avenue for the baby trap au, and that's what I'll be doing with these asks, unless the ask is specifically referencing something.
18+ Minors DNI. Mature themes. Pregnant reader.
Dinner looked absolutely foul.
You'd almost, almost, feel bad for thinking it, if you weren't too preoccupied with the tampered birth control that you found in the bathroom drawer earlier. You'd almost feel guilty for sneering at Johnny's cooking, a meal you usually love, but you can't stop thinking about that little foil packet, with it's little sad beige pills all lined in a row, sitting harmlessly in the bathroom drawer, untouched for three months now.
Three months. The number is startling to you, the realization that you are actually three months pregnant with a baby. A small human. That you're growing. That you thought, was total accident. That you thought, was just an innocent occasion, something that happens, sometimes.
Surprise! It's not. It's not at all, if that perfectly pressed piece of foil had anything to say about it, the way it was already lifted from it's edge screaming at you like you were stupid.
And maybe you were stupid. Stupid to think these boys actually loved you, stupid to think they actually cared about you at all. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
You can't even rationalize it, this choice, this decision they made. Can't begin to understand it. How could do they do this? How could they decide this for you? Force this upon you?
Johnny clears his throat, expectantly. Like they're waiting on something, and you jerk your head up to glance at the two of them.
"Did ya hear me?" He asks and you shake your head.
"Sorry, uh I was thinking." Your fork pushes the potatoes around on the plate and he frowns.
"No appetite?" Bingo. You can play this off as morning sickness. It's not really lying, considering you feel sick to your stomach anyway.
"Not really."
"Can I make you something else?" He tries, and he looks so eager, so hopeful. So sweet. It confuses you. How could this man, this person that you love, do something so, so wrong to you?
"No, thank you." Simon cocks his head, and you try not to shake in the chair. Simon will know. He'll know something's up. He reads you too well.
"Something on your mind?" He asks, and you shake your head quickly. Too quickly.
"N-no. Just thinking about... baby stuff." Johnny brightens, so happily, like a fucking clam, and you can't help the scowl that crosses your face. They're so fucking happy. So happy, that they took your choice away. Took your autonomy. Like it didn't even matter.
The change in your attitude does not go unnoticed.
"Hey, what is it?" Simon presses, and your fingers tighten around the fork, edges digging into your skin until it bites.
"Nothing, for fucks sake." You hiss, unable to stop yourself, unable to put a damper on your emotions, or your mouth. "Can't I have my own thoughts every now and then? You don't have a right to everything I'm bloody thinking all the time, you know." Johnny freezes, like a deer in headlights, watching you warily while Simon visibly tenses, biceps flexing beneath his t shirt.
"Darling-" He tries, and his tone is truly remorseful. Like he's sorry for setting you off.
You let the fork clatter to the plate when he continues, cutting him off. He looks surprised, mouth slightly agape, while you stare at him from across the table. The air in the room is thick, stagnant with whatever is simmering under the current, whatever it is that's waiting to strike.
"I'm going to lay down." You announce, standing up from the table as fast as you can.
Too fast.
The room spins, and you lurch, before finding your balance, hand thunking against the table to steady yourself. Johnny's up out of his seat in a blink, his reflexes too fast, and he's got an arm around your waist to steady you.
"I've got ya." He moves to pull you into his side, to provide you support, but you blow out a breath and push away.
"I'm fine. Just tired." you don't snap, but the words are brusque, and he flinches. You've never refused his affections, or attentions, ever in the history of your relationship. You close your eyes to take a deep breath. "I want to lay down." He steps away, slowly, and you can feel their eyes on you as you walk into the bedroom.
You slam the door as hard as you can, and then lock it, for good measure. It won't keep them out, but it will give you some privacy for a little while, at least. Enough time for you to have another cry, before you have to face them, and what they've done.

He had let you go once. It had been a foolish mistake. And since then he vowed to never do so again.
To you, he had always been Tartaglia, your always joking around higher-up. The two of you were close, both of you having been from Shneznaya and training in the same working regimen for a little over three years now. Tartaglia had grown to be powerful enough for the position of Harbinger, but you on the other hand maintained as a Fatui general, which was just fine by you. Leading people in battle and going over war tactics was certainly a much easier job than having to give a pep talk to new recruits.
Just the thought of having to be all cheery and go-happy made you shudder. Tartaglia had despised the idea too, but had eventually gotten used to it over the months.
Still, he always tried to make time for you despite his hectic schedule. It was sweet, to say the least. He even invited you to a tavern once and had you try alcohol for the first time. The vodka had been bitter but slightly sweet, and you found yourself to enjoy it in the presence of the familiar man.
However, after he was sent to settle things in Liyue, and you in Inazuma, the two of you had no choice but to part ways. He had cried then, after he had heard the news. The moment he had saw you, his face broke into a teary expression and he had ran over to give you a tight hug.
"I'm going to miss you so much…!" He had mumbled into your ear, still holding onto you with his strong grip. "…I can't even begin to understand what it's going to be like without you."
"You're going to be okay, Taglia. I just know it." You patted the males back, slightly puzzled on what to do next. As he released his grasp on you, he only stared at you with his shimmering azul eyes.
"But I won't even be able to talk to you anymore." The male pouted. "And who'll take your place as my drinking buddy?"
"Oh- I'm sure you'll find someone." You waved your hand nonchalantly, grinning sheepishly at the boy in the hopes of giving him some comfort. "Besides, we'll still be able to exchange letters."
"But no one can replace you!"
"Tsarista's orders are Tsarista's orders, Taglia. We have to leave, but it's not the end."
"Then why does it feel like it is?"
You blinked at the male, startled. He never usually acted like this, so full of emotion or having such a large willpower or opinion on something. It made you… confused, to say the least. "I think what you need is some rest. We depart tomorrow morning, right? Let's say our goodbyes then and not dwell on such sad things now."
"…"
"Okay?"
"Alright."
"Good." Reaching up at the taller male and standing on your tippie-toes, you managed to give him a couple reassuring headpats. "Now then, let's go eat dinner, okay?"
"Okay."
⁺˖ ⁺˖ ⁺˖ ⁺ 🕤 ⁺˖ ⁺˖ ⁺˖ ⁺
"You'll watch over them, right?" Tartaglia scanned his blank eyes across the row of kneeling soldiers in front of him, searching for any signs of weakness. If they were to be the people tasked with guarding his favorite person in the whole of Teyvat, he had to make sure they were more than competent.
"Yes, sir." They all responded in unison.
"And you'll make sure they don't get hurt?"
"Yes, sir."
"Hmmm… then…" The harbinger whipped out his bow in a single fluid moment, easily creating a pair of blades that swirled with elemental energy. "Come on then, it's time to test your strength. Let's spar."
"S-Sorry?"
"Did you not hear me the first time? Get up, soldiers, and ready your weapons, for here I come!" With that, the male leaped into a battle stance, eyes glimmering with excitement. A hesitant Electrohammer Vangaurder stepped up the challenge, steadying his grip on his weapon as he stared down the ginger with glowing violet eyes. Letting out a mighty yell, he brought down the load, crackling with electro energy, and split the floor just as the harbinger leapt into safety.
"Too slow. Are all of you this pathetically weak?"
A particularly swift pyro agent speeded through the ranks, disappearing into the scenery as he used his invisibility techniques. Shooting a hand out into the seemingly empty air, Tartaglia caught the man by the throat and lifted him up into the air with a manic smile spreading across his face.
"Weak."
He repeated the word as he brought a swarm of pyroslinger bracers to their knees, clutching their bloody sides.
And yet again as he drove and weaved his blades about the whole of cryo and hydro gunners, the fatui legionares pointing their guns only at empty air before realizing that the harbinger was behind them and already knocking them out with the brunt of his blade.
And he said it one last time as the last cicin mage was rendered unconscious, collapsing to the ground, lamp flickering weakly.
"How will you ever protect my darling when all you can do is be weak? This won't do. This won't do at all." Staring at the carnage that he had made, still figures and splatters of blood covering the floor, he only let out a little laugh.
"That's right. It should be me. I was a fool to trust them. It should be me by your side, protecting you from every danger. I am the only one who can do it. It should be me. Me." He didn't seem to care if anyone was listening, after all, who could stop him? He had seen them, all of them, all of their pathetic little bodies crumpling onto the ground like the fleas they were.
"Don't worry, darling. I'll make sure to get through to you somehow and take care of all the... annoyances in your path. All you need to do is trust me." With that, the bloodied harbinger stumbled away, grabbing his coat off of its rack and readying a steed. "I'm leaving now. Don't send anyone after me." He imparted a few quick words to the guard at the watch tower, deciding to ignore the flitting look of horror on his face.
"We'll meet again soon. I'll make sure of it."

Hi, I know I've been MIA for a while, but since the news about the cancellation of Shadow and Bone broke I've been sad and I need to let it all out. I've come to think of my blog here like a safe haven, so there's no better place for this.
These photos are of the very first original amigurumis I've ever made (sorry for the first photo, I hastily put it together just for this post because none of my photos seemed good enough). As you can see they are some of the characters of Shadow & Bone: Alina, the Darkling, Inej and Kaz. This was back in 2021, when the show premiered. Back then I had never heard of the Grishaverse, but when I saw the teaser my curiosity was piqued so I gave the books a chance and I LOVED them. After so many years on a reader's block and at a time in my life where I was struggling to get by, I had something new and exciting to look forward to. I loved the show (watched it twice in a row, actually), I loved the cast and I loved everything surrounding the Grishaverse. I even convinced two of my friends to read the books (and I regret nothing) 😂
I was so thrilled I HAD to do something, to create something new inspired by the Grishaverse. At that moment I had been crocheting only for a year but I thought I could try and see if something came out of it. That's how I crocheted Alina, my very first bookish amigurumi. It's not my best work, sure, but till this day I'm so very proud of the result. This was my first attempt at designing an amigurumi, I felt like I was improving my craftsmanship while honouring one of my favourite fantasy sagas. So I kept going, I crocheted the Darkling, made changes to get a better design, started putting more effort into my photos, even replicating the show posters. I kept growing my collection, adding Inej and Kaz and taking fun photos of all of them.
I didn't get far in terms of interactions and likes with them but I didn't care that much, I was just genuinely elated that I was creating something new with my bare hands and that was my priority.
And after them, I stuck to the book amigurumis. Created new patterns and characters, got more involved in photography and photoedition, and strived to do better with each new amigurumi. I got happier too, the thrill to create and share not only my craft but the books I love the most has been the best part of these last three years. And none of that wouldn't have existed without Shadow & Bone, without Leigh Bardugo and her universe, without that amazing cast and all of the writers and staff that have worked tirelessly to bring the Grishaverse to life.
So yeah, I'm heartbroken it has come to this abrupt and unfair end, especially when there was just a season left. In a way it feels like putting an end to a part of my journey as an amigurumi artist, this first part in which I was fumbling to learn and create something new. And as sad as it is, I want to say thank you too. It's not much, but it feels right to use my small amigurumi kingdom and reach to say thank you to everyone involved in the Grishaverse. You've made me unbelievably happy in so many different ways that I have trouble putting it into words.
Thank you as well to everyone who has taken a bit of their time to like, share and leave comments about my Grishaverse amigurumis. You helped me believe in my work and gave me strength to keep crocheting.
I will always remember the first time I showed Alina and the Darkling to my best friends and we talked about how I could crochet the rest, and which ones they wanted to see the most and "omg what if one of the actors noticed your work?????". It will never happen, but imagining the possibility still makes me feel a bit giddy even after two years.
If you've read this far, thank you to you too and sorry for my silly ramblings ♥️ If you love S&B too I'm free to cry together about all of the things we will never see on screen anymore.
P.S.: who would've thought that little me having a crush on Prince Caspian (aka the great Ben Barnes) would have ended in crocheting plushies inspired in book characters??? Not me for sure 😂

In which Helena hears some hard truths and has her evening plans decided for her.
Previous / Next
Transcript under the cut.
Yuki: [zoned out]
Charlie Jack: [nudge nudge] Here she comes. Helena! HELENA!
Yuki: I see we're embracing sloppy chic. That's certainly a... choice.
Charlie Jack: Oh, God, I can't stand to look. Sweatpants, Helena? Really?!?
Helena: Yuki? Charlie Jack? What are you guys doing here? Since when do you even know each other?
Charlie Jack: Since about eight hours ago. When you make your dramatic return to social media with a dozen sad selfies in a row, people are going to worry.
Yuki: You didn't respond to our DMs, so we decided to team up and come to your rescue. The situation is obviously dire!
Helena: So I got a little tipsy and accidentally posted my entire camera roll. [laughs joylessly] Happens to the best of us!
Charlie Jack: Girl, be serious.
Yuki: Do I need to show you the evidence?
Helena: Please don't.
Yuki: This was a clear cry for help!
Helena: Thanks, but I'd truly rather keep wallowing in self-pity on my own.
Charlie Jack: Your girlfriend left you. It sucks. We get it. But that relationship was kind of consuming you whole anyway.
Helena: [visibly cringes]
Charlie Jack: It might be tough to hear, but you high-key ghosted all your friends as soon as you moved in with her!
Yuki: That is, if you hadn't already ghosted us before then.
Helena: I'm... sorry. I didn't realize I was doing that. It just sort of happened. [heavy sigh] I was in love.
Charlie Jack: Well, luckily, we're not mad.
Yuki: Yeah, we're not here to bitch you out.
Charlie Jack: We're here to help you get back out there!
Helena: [recoils] Get back out- CJ, it's been, like, two days!
Charlie Jack: Two days too long in my book!
Helena: I just think it's way too soon.
Charlie Jack: Au contraire, my friend. The quicker you rip the band-aid off, the better.
Yuki: Dig something sexy out of your closet! We'll be back around 10.

King - Chapter VII
Chapter VII
Wordcount 4,3k
Title The Quake
Fandom Shuumatsu no Valkyrie / Record of Ragnarok
Previous chapters
1 . 2 . 3 . 4 . 5 . 6
Symbols ⭕ . ➕ . 🖤
Warnings: basically the same warnings as the previous chapters; harassment against reader (from a guard); mentions of death, blood and use of weapons
Tagging @cloveradora @the-dumber-scaramouche @mikkies @sl33py-zer0 @nooneknows8976 (If you want to be tagged in any of my stories, just leave a comment on this chapter or send an ask or a message)
N. A.: So, this chapter was becoming too long and I decided to divide it in two, so the next one will be published soon and it will be a direct continuation of this one, with a return to a ~familiar scenario and a deep conversation between reader and her not so soft husband 😅
I know the time between one chapter and the next has been too long, and I'm sorry for that, but something that might explain this is that this ff in particular brings a big volume of information in each chapter, and I have to be careful to share the right amount of it each time I post an update. There are still secrets to be unveiled and challenges to overcome here, and I'm using this story to train my patience (and yours as well lol)
Hope you enjoy this one and wait for the next 👀🔥

After staring at the basket for a few more seconds, Suriah put it back on her lap and raised her eyes to you again. There was no sign of sadness or shame in them; instead, you saw a glimmer of mental peace that you’d never suppose to exist in someone who has been enduring this number of adversities.
– I understand your shock – she commented with a smile – After all, a human girl would never survive this. But you don’t need to be so worried about my well-being. Our species are stronger than yours in this sense. Usually, a woman among us would deliver half of this number of eggs a year, and I myself didn’t want to deliver a single one. Besides, in case you’re wondering, they weren’t all delivered in just one day, just like they weren’t formed in one day. It took me at least three days in a row to produce all these ones – she sighed, as if recalling the tiredness provoked by the task – It was such a labor, but after the first time, I started to believe that, if I managed to do this, nothing could be impossible to me. It was sort of liberating.
The silence among the girls persisted. Since you had nothing to say in response, you stood quiet as well. But that didn’t mean you had no feelings towards it.
Liberating? What could be liberating in such situation? And after all of this, how can she still have the guts to say he loves us? How?
Your inner debate might have shown in your face, for Suriah looked at you with sympathy, speaking specifically about this.
– You seem to be struggling to understand how I was able to endure all of this – she shrugged – But I think it was only fair. I pleaded, my husband offered me a deal, I accepted the conditions, but lost the game. I knew where I was getting into since the start, but I said yes anyway. I am the one to blame in this case, am I not?
That was just too much for you. Suddenly, your tongue was released and from your mouth leaked everything that was in your chest; you didn’t care about the possibility of your words reaching Poseidon’s ears, provoking indignation among the wives who agreed with Suriah or hurting her feelings; you just spoke.
– You said that the game was popular among the gods – you started – This can only mean that it’s unknown to most of us mortals. Besides, he gave you an incredibly short amount of time to learn all the rules before sending you to compete with an expert – you took an unconscious step closer to the table – Of course, your chances were few, and he knew it since the start! He gave you an impossible task and he was aware of this! I don’t understand how this is fair! – you lowered your tone a bit, but your rage was still felt in your words – I don’t understand how you can say this is love…
Another low voice was heard before Suriah could think of a reply.
– You see, this is one of the reasons why Poseidon-sama doesn’t like bringing humans to his domains.
It was Melian. You turned to her and saw no sign of provocation or disdain in her expression, only sadness.
– Your love and your justice are just not like the ones of the gods – she continued, serious – You’re always bringing contention and dissatisfaction with you, always trying to unveil things that are supposed to stay out of your reach. You just don’t fear the gods. This is what they used to say around here, and now that we have not only one, but two of you with us, we can say how much of this is true.
That time, the response came from Alyssa.
– We do fear the gods – she spoke with a firmness in her tone that was new to you – We just can’t accept what is unacceptable.
Melian swallowed. Apparently, she would never get used to the human way of thinking. Suriah, still maintaining her calmness, brought the attention back to herself again.
– Tell me, human, what is your name again? – she spoke to you.
– Y/n.
– So, y/n, can you satisfy our curiosity and tell us what kind of offer you’ve received from our husband?
Contrary to what you imagined, you didn’t feel that request as something intrusive: instead, you found in yourself an urge to speak about the contract you sealed, and a weight was taken off of your chest when you did it.
– I was given one year to observe his children training and learn about their most effective combat techniques. After this, I have to find ways to counteract these techniques by figuring out their weaknesses. The methods I will use to fulfill this task don’t matter, but if I’m unable to do it – you swallowed – I shall be just like you.
Suriah seemed to thought of this for a moment before replying, and a new wave of tension built across the room: the girls stared at you with a sort of compassion and fear, as well as relief for not being in your place. Besides, just like you, they were eager to hear what Suriah had to say.
And this was what she had for you:
– A task with its own difficulties – she frowned – It might be harder than mine in some aspects, but easier in others. Also, it might hide surprises, not all of them sweet. How do you feel about it?
Now that everyone knew about your mission, you had no reasons to disguise how you felt.
– I’m nervous. Even scared.
Suriah nodded.
– It’s a good sign. Only a fool would not feel like this after receiving a task from Poseidon-sama. But what exactly do you fear?
– I’m not a warrior – you shrugged – I’m a merchant, daughter of merchants. I only know how to negotiate. My knowledge cannot be applied to anything but this.
The older woman kept her composure. She took a moment adjusting the basket on her lap, then turned back to you.
– Hm… As far as I can see, every human is a warrior, and you are not different from your pairs. Just a few moments ago, you almost swore you wouldn’t have children. Such determination is rare in someone this young. Do not let it die. Take the time you have, girl, and work with all you got. You say your knowledge cannot be applied to your task, but every knowledge is necessary, and it can save us when we least expect.
You swallowed.
– I remember my parents saying something similar when I was a child and didn’t want to study certain topics.
Suriah smiled with sympathy.
– And they were right, and I wish I learned this when I did my negotiation – she pointed at you as someone who gives a mixture of alert and advice – My task was impossible, and I knew I lost since the start. But maybe you have a chance to make a difference, even with these delicate arms of yours. And, honestly, it would be fun if you succeed and entertain our husband.
***
When you left the hall in the company of Alyssa, you had more questions than answers.
– The only thing I know for sure now is that I still have many things to learn about these people – you were saying – The way they take slavery for love is something that I just cannot accept.
Your friend was taking slow steps beside you, with her arm entwined with yours.
– If I was you, I’d give up while I can – she laughed – This got me surprised when I arrived here too, and even now I feel uncomfortable whenever they talk about it, which, fortunately, only happens in rare occasions. But they’re not entirely wrong. For example, when Suriah said our husband doesn’t get along with rebel women, it is true for both mortals and goddesses.
The conversation you had about Amphitrite came back to your memory, but you said nothing about it. Instead, you focused on Suriah.
– I don’t understand how she knows so much about us. Did you make friends with her when you came here?
– Not exactly, but she helped me in the first days – Alyssa explained – She’s one of the oldest women here, so she does this for each new girl. There aren’t rules about experienced wives supporting the younger ones, but it’s a sort of tradition she built around herself. You know, her people are notorious for their incredible lifespan among the mortal species, and their capacity of reproduction, as she explained. She has known many people from many folks over the years and, since she’s been here for years and is one of the most fertile wives, she has some status. The other girls and the servants respect her. And as far as I could see, she sympathized with you.
– I see… – you turned to Alyssa and lowered your tone – And how does he see this?
The girl became suddenly serious. It was unnecessary to explain to whom you were referring to.
– If she has succeeded in her task, I guess it would have been a problem for him. But, since things happened differently, he doesn’t mind. He gets what he needs from her, and that’s all that matters.
Your conversation was interrupted by a voice behind you.
– Excuse me.
You both turned to the voice’s owner, and you recognized the noble girl from the Northern Waters, the same people of the priestess who ran to the waves the day you arrived. You saw her at the dining room, but she took a seat in place away from you. Given that she was a member of her species’ high society and displayed a quiet behavior, you didn’t focus your attention on her, convinced that she held the same disdain for humanity as many of the other women, but now that you had the chance to observe her from close and without the interference of a noisy and unfavorable environment, you started to think you were wrong.
And the shy manner with which she spoke to you reinforced it.
– Are you y/n, the human girl who just talked to Suriah?
You nodded.
– Yes, I am – you indicated your friend – And this is Alyssa. She’s also human.
The girls greeted themselves and the noble introduced herself.
– My name is Taulah. We arrived together with the latest carriage.
– Yes, I remember you – and, recalling the other girl’s fate, – I’m sorry for what happened to your pair that day.
Taulah gave you a sad smile.
– Her name was Doonah. She was my childhood friend. Despite being one of the most dedicated priestesses of our region, she never felt comfortable with the idea of being trapped. To her, the sea represented freedom and movement, so when she found out that she was chosen to marry the god she always loved and served, she was radiant… – the girl lowered her tone, and part of the glow in her eyes disappeared as she recalled the incident – However, after what that servant said, all the happiness and expectations died inside her… and she didn’t see any reason to keep living…
You three spent a moment in silence. Alyssa was the first to speak.
– They did the same when I arrived. There was one girl who succumbed to the guide’s provocation and did the same as your friend. Later, at night, I listened to a melody that entered through my room’s window. It was a sad song that reminded me of a flute. The morning after, I asked a maid about this and she said it was Poseidon-sama’s whistle, coming from the Main Tower.
You and Taulah looked at her at the same time.
– They explained that, every time a wife or a bride dies, he walks to the highest spot of this tower, opens the window and whistles to the outside – Alyssa continued – At the same time, he sends a sacred shell to the depths of the sea in honor of her. When they told me this, I didn’t know if I should cry or be shocked.
You held your breath. So, that was the answer for the mysterious tune, followed by that light you witnessed that night. You’ve been wanting to ask about it for days, but the opportunity never came.
– I heard when he whistled in honor of Doonah – you revealed – It was heartbreaking... and beautiful at the same time.
Taulah’s response to this was composed, as expected from someone of her position, but didn’t lack emotion.
– An appropriate way to honor a loyal, honest priestess. She would’ve loved it.
Alyssa and you agreed. Taulah changed the subject.
– Well, I came here to say that I’m impressed with your courage, y/n – she told you – The way you stood up for your friend and for yourself in the middle of so many strangers… – she smiled – That was incredible.
Your face warmed up to this compliment: getting unexpected recognition from someone you misjudged provoked a strange feeling.
– We’re kind of alone here – you glanced at Alyssa – We need to have each other’s back.
– Yes – Taulah agreed with enthusiasm – Anyways, I wish you luck with your task. And if you need anything, I’ll be here.
– Thank you, Taulah.
The girl nodded, and that marked the beginning of a new friendship, the second you conquered in that strange world, but one that made you think that, whatever the future had for you, it might not be impossible to overcome.
You said goodbye to each other like close allies.
– I’ll take Alyssa back to our room now – you said – She needs to rest.
– Go. Be safe.
You three separated right after, with the girl from the Northern Waters rushing back to the dining room and you giving your arm to Alyssa, following on a slow walk back to the lodge.
***
You helped Alyssa to get comfortable in her bed, adjusting the pillows behind her back, borrowing a cushion for her to rest her feet and covering her with a blanket: she used to take a nap for two hours or three after lunch, while you spent this period reading the books brought by the servants.
That time, however, you would try something different.
– Where are you going? – Alyssa asked with her eyes half closed.
You were preparing yourself to leave the room, changing your shoes for a more comfortable pair and wrapping the shawl you were given by your husband around your shoulders.
– I’m going to visit the Library – you explained – I found out we have permission to use it for both studying and diversion, so I’m heading there to research some things.
– Is it about your task?
– Yes – you walked to the door; and, turning the knob, – My father used to say that a good merchant is always taking opportunities to gather knowledge, and Suriah spoke about my abilities being useful in this task. I need to find something that helps me in this sense.
– I see – she whispered, adjusting her blanket – Just remember that the way to the Library is long from here. So, be careful.
You replied that this was precisely why you changed your shoes, then left the room.
***
Since the wives are previously informed about the premises of the palace they were allowed to go to, one day you took the opportunity to ask a servant how you could reach the Library, the rules for using the books and the periods of the day when it was open to visitors. Now, while recalling the information you gathered, you walked through the corridors searching for the passage between the tower that housed the women’s lodge and the one where the Library was, which, according to the servant’s explanation, was a narrow bridge that connected the two towers in the inner side of the building, at the North Wing.
You were now walking down a staircase that should lead to the place through which the bridge could be accessed, your heart racing with the perspective of approaching the desired place. You looked around and quickly recognized the servant’s description, and the bridge was almost under your sight’s reach...
When a sudden, strong quake hit the floor and spread to the walls and the stairs, reaching your spot and making you fall before you could think of grabbing the handrail.
It came fast, and left even faster. When it was over, you tried to stand up, but found out your entire body was aching, as if your fall happened from a higher place and not the few stairs you still had to walk down. You found that strange, but for now the pain wouldn’t allow you to think too much.
You breathed deep and tried to stand up again when you sensed you were ready. You adjusted your clothing and massaged your forehead on the spot that hit the floor.
You just witnessed your husband’s bad mood.
It was just like the day we arrived… With such a man ruling over it, I don’t know how this castle is still standing! Anyways, thank Heavens he’s far away from here, and I can only hope he stays like this.
It was when you realized your surroundings were no longer the same.
What you saw before the quake was the end of the stairs before you, and the connection between it and the small passage that would lead to the bridge, located at your left. Now, instead of this, you saw yourself in the middle of a long, empty corridor surrounded by high, bluish walls and a ceiling from which a soft, white light descended; you didn’t take long to see that its end was far from your spot. However, the scariest thing was that, when you turned around, you saw that the staircase just disappeared, being replaced by the other side of the same corridor, and this end was closer to you, with a wall identical to the ones on your sides to indicate it, and a parallel corridor that preceded it.
You started walking in that direction, observing this strange location.
– What kind of place is this? – you murmured unconsciously – No doors, no windows, no decoration…
You came to the conclusion that it was just a passage, where people wouldn’t stop to do anything – not even appreciate its beauty, since there was no art in there. Not only this, but the absence of doors that would lead to rooms or to other corridors indicated that this wasn’t an access many people would use.
It was when you stopped suddenly, your heart jumping inside your chest.
What if I’m in a forbidden place?
The idea came to you only when it was too late.
When you were a few meters before the end, a pair of tall, green-skinned guards wearing helmets and holding tridents similar to the one of their master appeared from the right corner and turned it to take your corridor, advancing in large steps toward you.
You took a step back, tightening the shawl around yourself; there was no way to escape, whether running back to your previous spot or trying to pass through them: their legs seemed too long, ideal for a marathon, and those tridents were too long and too sharp besides, you couldn’t tell if they would forgive an attempt to evasion even if it came from one of their Lord’s wives.
The guards were so entertained with their chatting that they almost bumped into you, not coming to this point because you jumped back with a little scream. When they finally became aware of your presence, they fell silent, and the smiles on their faces slowly faded into a suspicious expression.
The guard at the left, who seemed to be the older one, was the first to speak.
– What are you doing here? – and, since you kept quiet, – Don’t you know this area is forbidden for mortals?
You considered saying that you were looking for the Library when you fell there after the quake, but something made you think your explanation wouldn’t be accepted, so you just replied like anyone would in a situation like that.
– I didn’t know that… – you glanced beyond the men – Can you lead me to the exit?
The guard’s response was to glance at his partner, then turn back at you with a grin.
– Of course, we can – he started, taking slow steps toward you – But not without giving you the appropriate punishment.
You swallowed. You didn’t know what that man had in mind, and certainly didn’t want to find out. Before he could reach you, you stepped back and uncovered your ears, exhibiting the pearls on your lobes. The younger guard, who stood in the same place, tightened his lips in apprehension, while his companion frowned. Yes, faking a courage you weren’t feeling was risky, but it was your only chance.
– You can’t speak about punishment to me when I am one of Poseidon-sama’s wives – your voice echoed across the place, though you didn’t speak loud – Touching me the wrong way will mean a problem for you.
The two guards had opposite reactions to your words.
The younger one kept his position, not taking a single step toward you, and even tried to warn his partner.
– We should just lead her back to the women’s lodge – he was saying – We’ll be in trouble if someone sees her with us here…
The older guard, on the other hand, showed no worries for this advice and no regard for your earrings.
– These pearls don’t prove anything to me, girl – he replied in challenge – You might have faked them, just like others did before you. Besides, our Lord has taken hundreds of women as his wives. One more or one less in the counting would mean nothing to him!
– You can just take me back to the lodge and I will grant you my silence in return – you insisted – If nothing happens here, nobody needs to know about this encounter!
The guard laughed.
– Well, I think I’ll pass!
You held your breath. Your strategy worked partially, but that wasn’t enough to grant your safeness, and there wasn’t much you could do about it.
Sorry, Alyssa. But I couldn’t be as careful as you recommended.
The guard stretched his hand to grab you, and you jumped back, but you never managed to take more than two steps away from him. You thought you were going to stumble and hit the floor, at the mercy of that man…
But you actually bumped into someone who was right behind you, and who seemed to have appeared there by magic. The person held you by your arms, keeping you in place.
You raised your eyes, thinking you just got trapped by a third guard, ready to apologize and beg for help, when you recognized him and felt your words dying before passing your lips.
– This is the first time I meet you casually and you are already in danger, dragonet – were his first words; and, with a slight smile, – Why am I not surprised?
You couldn’t believe what you were seeing: how did he reach that spot so fast? And how did he do it without making the slightest noise?
Before you could say or do anything, he turned his attention to the older guard, and a transformation occurred on his face: the suggestion of smile disappeared from his lips, turning his face into an emotionless sculpture of marble, and the blue of his eyes decreased to a darker shade, close to black. You sensed the air getting cold around you, almost like the sea water during winter, and shivers started spreading through your skin.
You glanced at the guards, and the unexpected appearance of their Lord in that isolated place provoked different feelings in each of them, judging by what you saw in their faces: the younger one had his anxiety increased now that his worst fear just came true, while the older simply panicked.
– P-Poseidon-sama…!
You were surprised that he was able to say even those few words: his massive body was shaking in a way you didn’t know to be possible, his eyes were almost leaving their orbits and the green of his skin gave place to a sickly yellow that you supposed to be the equivalent of paleness in human skins.
To anyone who would look from a distance, it would seem that Poseidon showed no sign of his feelings, but to you, who were between his arms, the story was different: though no wrinkle appeared on his forehead nor his lips were twisted while he stared at the guard, the change in his eyes’ color was the clearest evidence of his wrath.
His next words, however, weren’t for the man.
– Stay here – he held your shoulders and made you turn your back on the men – Do not look back.
He took a few steps toward the guard, and you never knew exactly what happened after this. There was no scream, cry or plead from any of the men; you just heard a fast sound, as if something sharp just cut the air behind you, followed by a wet, disgusting noise, that started and ended as fast as the previous one. At your right, you saw a red stain appear on the wall, profaning the blue as it descended violently to the floor.
Poseidon’s composed voice was the next thing you heard.
– Send servants to clean this mess – he was saying – And inform your detachment’s leader about this casualty. He will designate a substitute to work with you.
The younger man’s voice mumbled a relieved “yes, my Lord”, and he left as soon as he could.
When the sound of his steps disappeared in the parallel corridor (you didn’t know in which direction), you sensed your husband approaching you again. You tried to glance behind, but before you could see anything, his hand covered the side of your face and you were forced to look ahead. He took you in his arms and started to walk, without saying a word about what just happened.
Just as decreed by Poseidon during your wedding votes, those pearls were indeed their only warning.

Proposals
Pairing: Nikolai Lantsov x Fem!reader
Tumblr media
summary: Nikolai's proposal doesn't go as he'd planned. fic type - angst, hurt/no comfort, Little Women esc warning - sad shit, Nikolai gets his feelings hurt. word count - 1,271 a/n: so this is basically just the story version of the Little Women/Nikolai post I made a little while ago. this hurt so much more to write than the "incorrect quote" version.
●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●
The Grand Palace's gardens were constantly the meeting place of the Nikolai and (Y/N). For decades, when the two would be at the Grand Palace, they would be found in those gardens. And just like those times, the duo were walking through the gardens after a small gathering for Nikolai's coronation. They walked side by side, taking in the rows of flowers and various arch-shaped bushes. The scene felt just as calming and serene as it always did.
The two softly talked back and forth as they went along - sharing small jokes and stories. "Nina running off with her Fjerdan. Zoya off to Kerch. And now that you're king, you'll be off in meetings and trips. I'm just not good like Alina, so I'm angry and restless." (Y/N) complained to the blonde boy. She reached out to Nikolai and swayed around, causing the two to stumble a bit.
Nikolai glanced down at her and hesitantly laughed. "You don't have to stay here, (Y/N)." he softly smiled at her.
(Y/N) stumbled forward, chuckling and waving her arms haphazardly. "Why? Should we run off and join a pirate ship again?" she laughed. The girl moved around in front of Nikolai, and stood in her old sword-wielding stance. When she didn't get a response from her friend she slowly turned around. The serious look on his face caused her happy one to drop. "No. No."
Nikolai tried to get closer to the girl. "It's no use, (Y/N)."
(Y/N) stepped back. "Please don't."
"(Y/N), we've got to have it out." he pleaded.
Nikolai tried to reach out for his friend but she hurriedly moved away. "No. Sobachka..."
"I have loved you ever since I've known you, (Y/N). I couldn't help it. And I tried to show you and you wouldn't let me, which is fine." Nikolai's voice came out shaky, and he had to pause half way through his words. (Y/N) tried to throw out another 'no' but was swiftly cut off by him. "But I must make you hear me now and give me an answer, because I cannot go on like this any longer!"
This time, (Y/N) was quick to get a few words in after he paused to take a sharp inhale. "Sobachka, please. Please don't."
"I gave up being tailored. I gave up everything you didn't like. I'm happy I did. It's fine. And I waited, and I never complained because I... You know, I figured you'd love me, (Y/N)." Nikolai cried out. Silence rang through the gardens. (Y/N) didn't know what to say next - she didn't know what to say at all. To her surprise, Nikolai continued again, his voice growing weaker and more choked. "And I realize I'm not half good enough, and I'm not this great man and-"
"No! Yes, yes, yes you are. You're a great deal too good for me, and I'm so grateful to you, and I'm so proud of you, and I just... I don't see why I can't love you as you want me to. I don't know why." (Y/N) cut him off.
The look on Nikolai's face caused (Y/N) chest to blossom with pain. "You can't?" he quietly asked.
(Y/N) though of her words before she answered the blonde, wanting to make sure she said the right thing. "No. I can't. I can't change how I feel, and... It would be a lie to say I do when I don't. I'm so sorry, Sobachka. I'm so sorry, but I just can't help it."
"I can't love anyone else, (Y/N). I only love you." he mumbled.
"Sobachka, It would be a disaster if we married." (Y/N) tried to reason with Nikolai.
Nikolai grew defensive at her words. "It wouldn't be a disaster." Nikolai's tone of voice raised as he tried to make a point.
"We'd be miserable!"
"I'd be a perfect saint!" Nikolai's voiced continued to raise.
(Y/N) raised her voice to match his. "I can't! I can't! I've tried it and I failed."
"Why does everyone expect it?" Nikolai asked, trying to add his own point to the conversation.
"I can't." the shorter girl's voice broke as she mumbled.
"Then why does your family and my mother expect it? Why are you saying this? Say yes. Let's be happy together, (Y/N)!" Nikolai pleaded to her. Both Ravkans' eyes had begun to water.
(Y/N) moved closer to the boy, taking his hands in hers. "I can't say yes truly, so I'm not going to say it at all. And you will see that I'm right eventually, and you'll thank me for it." she hesitantly glanced up at the boy, trying to truly get her point across.
The two stood in silence - the only noises being the soft chirps of nearby birds and their heavy breathing. The air between them was thick enough that one of the kitchen knives could've cut through. They both took the time to try and gather their thoughts. (Y/N)'s loud breathing slowly became more raspy, telling Nikolai how broken this conversation was making her.
"I'd rather hang myself than realize this, (Y/N)." Nikolai muttered.
(Y/N)'s eyes widened. "Sobachka..."
"I would rather be dead." his voice started to raise once again.
"Sobachka, don't say that." (Y/N) begged. Nikolai turned away from the girl, and tried to walk away. His pace was slow, making known how this conversation was affecting him as well. "Sobachka!" she called out. (Y/N) hurriedly followed after him, pulling her skirt up a bit to gain on him. Reaching out, (Y/N) placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to stop his movements. "Listen, you'll find some lovely, accomplished person who will love you and adore you and, and they're gonna make a fine queen for your fine kingdom, but I wouldn't. Alright?"
Nikolai stopped causing (Y/N) to stumble forward. The two stood in front of each other, eyes watery and red, and emotions all over the place. "Yes you would, (Y/N)."
"Look at me. I'm homely and I'm awkward, and I'm odd."
"I love you, (Y/N)." Nikolai interjected.
"And you'd be ashamed of me." (Y/N) added.
Once again Nikolai spoke, "I love you, (Y/N)."
"And we would quarrel because we can't help it, even now." another watery-spoken comment came from (Y/N). "And I'd hate elegant society, you'd hate my scribbling, and we would be unhappy. And we'd wish we hadn't done it, and everything would be horrid." she cried out.
Nikolai looked down, silently taking in everything. "Is there anything more?"
"No. Nothing more."
"Alright." he quietly muttered.
Nikolai turned to walk away but was stopped by (Y/N)'s voice. "Except that..." Nikolai turned back around to face the girl. "Sobachka, I don't believe I will ever marry. I'm happy as I am, and I love my liberty too well to be in any hurry to give it up." her voice came out exhausted and mournful.
"I think you're wrong about that, (Y/N)." as the king spoke his hands reached down into his trouser pockets. Soft blonde curls strayed from his groomed hair and fell down in front of his forehead, matching their disheveled attitudes.
"No." she tried to add.
"I think you will marry, (Y/N). I think you'll find someone and love them. And you will live and die for them because that's your way, and you will." Nikolai's voice matched (Y/N)'s tired tone. "And I'll watch."
Nikolai turned away again, finally making his leave of the gardens. (Y/N) watched as he went, sobs racking through her body as the closet friend she had walked away from their shattered friendship.

Youtiful | Lee Felix x Reader
Summary: basically a fanfic to half (the lyrics) of youtiful
Notes: i was bored. i came up with this at school, lollllll~ umm i asked a bunch of people and they said felix matches this song the most soooooo~ yeah, its felix guys !! <3
Warnings: none but can yall please press play on the video bc its meant to be a gif but didn't save properly? :sobs: my first attempt, im sorry its so bad. and uhm- its a lil' long
Looking at yourself
you stared at the outfit in the photo.
"hmmm..." y/h/c hair fell over your eyes as you shook your head, pulling the outfit off and throwing it on the bed.
A lot goes in your mind
you stare at your reflection in the mirror, glaring at your abdomen. "i haven't been to the gym in ages-" you sigh.
"I don't know if I'm ready to show myself"
your finger hovers over the post button of your post. the outfit looks nice enough but- you delete the post, tossing your phone to the side before pulling your boyfriend's hoodie and sweatpants on.
You worry day and night
your phone buzzes and you check it, a worried frown on your face as you see felix's message.
felix: my love how do you feel about coming to the concert tonight? i managed to get tickets !!
the concert. tonight. wait- you check your messages again. tonight?! you run your hands though your hair.
Look at the stars fall
pulling the hoodie over your head, you flash a smile at the security guard, holding up your backstage pass and entering the backstage area. its a busy place with staff and backup dancers scurrying around.
"y/n!" you turn at the sound of changbin's loud voice, flashing him a smile.
"hey bin!"
"felix said you'd be coming and cos he's with the hair and makeup team right now, sent the one and only changbin to take you to him." changbin flexed his muscles jokingly before leading you down the corridor.
felix spins around in the makeup chair, pointing to the window. you tilt your head, more than a little confused.
"huh?"
"shooting stars !!" felix sounds so excited as you peer out the window. a star streaks down from the sky.
They leave the sky, goodbye
"shooting stars are kinda sad, don't you think?" you ask quietly. felix looks at you, linking his hand with yours and squeezing lightly.
"why's that jagi?" he asks softly.
"i mean, they're so beautiful up there in the sky and then they fall to the ground, leaving the sky." you touch the window.
Must be an oracle, like a waterfall
"at the same time, that's kinda pretty." you look at felix, more than a little confused. "i mean, they look pretty, imagine if a few of them fell down at the same time in a row, they'd look like a glowing waterfall. but you'd obviously be the brightest star."
They shower you with love tonight
"FELIX!" you look at him before nodding slowly. "yeah, i can see that waterfall though." you smile at felix before catching sight of the clock behind him.
"oh gosh, felix, you're gonna miss the start of the show !" you gasp. felix turns on his heel to face the clock and nods.
"you're right jagi." he leans forward to press a kiss onto your forehead and then you cheeks before pressing a gentle peck to your lips. you feel your face heat up as you gently push him toward the door.
"lix, you're gonna be late."
'Cause you are You're perfect in my eyes
you quickly exit the backstage area, hurrying to make it to your seat before the concert starts. you plonk onto your (front row) seat and rummage through your bag, in search of your lightstick. waving it madly as the stadium lights turn darker and familiar silhouettes appear onstage. loud cheers almost drown out the first two songs earning the audience a loud sigh from seungmin as they greet the stays. felix finds you in the audience and as your eyes meet his, he speaks into his mic.
"you're perfect." he shouts. stays cheer around you but you have a warm feeling in your chest, knowing that he's talking to you.
Don't ever doubt yourself
you're in front of that same mirror, the next day, scrutinising your reflection, eyes narrowed. you're so hyper focused that you don't hear the bedroom door open or felix's padding footsteps until arms wrap around your waist and felix stares at you through the mirror.
"lix!" you spin around, facing him. his face looks a little confused and worried.
"jagi, why are you staring at the mirror?" he asks gently. you shrug.
"just- deciding where to work on when i go to the gym." felix sighed. he already knew where this was going.
I know that feeling too, I've been inside the dark I've never been so empty, hopeless.
"i mean what i said at the concert, my love." felix's arms tightened around your waist as he led you away from the mirror.
"what?" you laughed. "that i'm perfect?" felix nods eagerly.
"you are, completely and utterly perfect."
"b- but i look no where close to you, visually and-"
But no, it isn't true
felix rolled his eyes, slapping a hand over your mouth.
"y/n y/l/n take that back right now. you know that's not true." he said half-serious and half-jokingly.
"but i-"
'Cause know that all the stars are by your side
"no buts. you're amazing. repeat after me. i am y/n y/l/n , felix's soulmate and loml and i am perfect and amazing." felix orders.
"i am y/n y/l/n , felix's soulmate and loml and i am perfect and amazing." you say obediently. a wide grin breaks across felix's face as he hears you say those words.
You know, whenever there's a chance
"you know, i'm going to make you repeat that over and over again whenever i get the chance until you believe them, right?" felix said.
"i knowww~" you smile up at him. "i'm one step closer to believing it."
I will tell you that you're amazing as you are

I usually don't send two asks in a row because I don't want to overwhelm you. But you just posted about phonology and I was curious and then bam hyperfocus. I found a pretty cool table of gith sounds :
https://conworkshop.com/view_language.php?l=GITH
It looks like there are a few main differences to english:
No W
-Like in french from France. She probably would say "Oo-il" for Wyll. They usually replace the W by a Oo or a V, depending on the sound after it. A "wagon" -> a vagon, but "when" -> ooän. In German you would have the W as a V, because it's already pronounced like that.
There is a type of Th, like in "thin", but not "this".
- I kinda hear the difference but I can't do it. The first one is closer to an s or an f and the second one to a z , I guess? A native english speaker may understand the nuance better.
There is a Zh
- It's the same as the French "j", like in the name Jacques (which could be your frenchsona btw. It's the equivalent of James). In English you add some kind of "d" in your "j". As an example, we visualise Djordan for Jordan. You take that D off, you got the sound. (Insert respectful trans joke here)
The Tl like in Nahuatl
- I can explain this one in english because I can't find the right translation, but you can find how it's pronounced on Wikipedia.
Gh is not silent
- Kind of a guttural G, like in dutch or the scottish gh.
The glottal stop '
- It marks a pause between syllables, while still linking them. Uh'Oh in English, "bu'er" for butter in cockney. It depends of the dialects/accent/language.
Everything is my understanding of this, obv, linguists please don't hate me. I'm just an audhd girly with a multi-lingual environnement and too much time.
Sooooooo Frog'zel is not completely off the table, but I'm sad the R's not an uvular one. It would make it a more "brutal" language. I think she would have some difficulties we see in frenglish. Especially when a letter has several ways to be pronounced, like cat / face or breath/breathe because it's straightforward in gith.
Ergo, she wouldn't have a stroke trying to say "library" like I do. But she would struggle with "throughout", I guess.
I couldn't find anything on tones and accentuations stuff though. I still want her to fight for her life like I do. I shouldn't be the only one suffering here.
I guess it can still change with context and stuff. Like the s in german becomes a sh when it's in front of a t.
I hope I was clear enough. Sorry for any spelling or formatting mistakes, cat fell asleep on my arms in the middle of this. But she's cute so forgive her please.
🫀🚑
You are always allowed to overwhelm me with worldbuilding shit like conlangs (even if this isn’t really a conlang) I live and breathe this stuff and I'm constantly rotating it around in the back of my brain
I cannot express the sheer joy I felt looking at these charts and comparing them to my own and seeing that I've got pretty much the same result! The only strange thing I found was the addition of a b sound, maybe I missed it but I haven’t found a single word that uses that sound (despite Lae’zel’s “bah’s”) Their chart is also missing a p sound but I believe that's due to when the charts were made bc there's only one Gith word that uses it and it was in bg3. Honestly tho, it makes a lot more sense for Gith to have a b sound and no p sound instead of the other way around, there are wayyyy more examples of languages with no p instead of no b (although a language with neither would be fun lol)
The lack of a W was the first thing that I noticed! But there's a fuck ton of languages without it so it makes sense, It doesn’t really fit the feel of the Gith language either. Also, I know in my heart that you’re probably very much right on the Wyll pronunciation but I was joking around with my friends while I was looking through all this stuff and one of them made a German comparison and the thought of the fascist space frogs having a german accent was just too funny to me to pass up
I personally find the Gith language having θ but not ð very fun for their accent! It's kind of a subtle difference but also not? I went through and pronounced a bunch of words with a ð sound with a θ instead and they sound harsher? I guess? It really did give them a more Gith feel honestly
(a little aside but the thought of a “frenchsona” is so fucking funny to me and you’re respectful trans joke got a legit laugh outta me lmao)
Fun fact! English does have a ʒ (zh) sound it's just not associated with a specific letter, it just kinda.. happens in words. All in all, it seems that Gith is relatively comparable in terms of sounds with English. The lack of a w and p/b (debatable) seems like they’d be the biggest ones to come up in everyday speech as far as phonetics goes
Also can I let you in on a little pet peeve of mine? I usually hate when “fantasy languages” use ‘ in their words bc most of the time it's just a cheap way to make it look more fantasy-esc or alien. BUT in Gith, it honestly works? Mostly because it actually is a glottal stop and not just a random “make this word look fantasy” addition
I'm also nowhere near a linguist, just insane about worldbuilding stuff (i have notebooks full of phonetic charts and mathematics on creating solar systems) It's really insightful and interesting to see the perspective of someone with a multi-lingual background tho as someone who only speaks English
I've always seen the Gith language as less brutal and more.. Sharp? I dunno how to describe it really, kinda harsh and pointed rather than guttural or brutal if that makes sense. But yeah if common is English then all the long and short sounds and strange exceptions would be supremely rough especially if you only ever really read it and never truly spoke it
I couldn’t even blame Lae’zel for not being able to pronounce throughout correctly cuz I can’t say that shit right either unless I'm really trying
If you want tones and accentuations you’re just gonna have to have fun and make em up, cuz sadly most fantasy “languages” are just a bunch of made up words with no real rhyme or reason. If I had the brain power to spare it’d be fun to flesh out a real Gith conlang
At least with a full phonetic chart, you can see what sounds the Gith wouldn’t be used to using and find out what words would cause trouble
Also I can forgive any and all misspelling or weird formatting, cute cats aside, cuz I have no clue how anyone could read this jumbled rambling mess lol gratz if you got this far and understood any of this

lazarus is risen
chapter one: prologue
hiii :)
i'm writing something on ao3 and wanted to post it on here too, so here's the first installment!! (teehee)
here's a summary:
After deciding to let Abby live, Ellie has returned to Jackson. But given everything she's lost, it no longer feels like home. She's sad, she's confused, and above all else, she is so, so very lonely. So when a group of strangers shows up and offers her a second chance, she might just take them up on that.
Ellie must decide between staying in Jackson – and living with the ghosts of her past – or leaving in search of new meaning. Whatever she decides, her choice will have far-reaching consequences – not just for herself, or for Jackson, but for all of humanity.
Or:
Ellie saves the world, maybe?
(ellie williams x reader, post-tlou2, useless lesbians, slow burn, cross country road trip, lots of references to greek mythology, etc.)
Prologue: A separate introductory section of a literary or musical work.
The clock on the wall read 10:49 p.m. – well outside the bounds of typical working hours, even for the lab’s most dedicated personnel. Fluorescent lights hanging from the ceiling of the large room emitted a low hum and sent rays of unnaturally harsh light spilling over empty  workbenches, abandoned petri dishes, and one single, solitary figure hunched over a microscope.
He adjusted his round, wire-rimmed glasses and fiddled with the magnification lenses. As he did so, he took meticulous notes in a well-worn binder, from whose edges years’ worth of handwritten, detailed data threatened to spill. Lost in his observation, a sudden burst of static from his walkie-talkie jolted him back to reality.
“This is Red Team 1 to Dr. Reynolds. Dr. Reynolds, come in.”
Frantically, the man finished what he was writing, set down his pencil, and responded, “Go for Reynolds.”
“Sir, there was an incident in Quadrant 3. Daniels is compromised. We’re bringing him in now. E.T.A. 7 minutes, over.”
The man quickly began packing up the binder, taking special care to keep all of the papers neat and in order. “Copy that. Bring him to the same operating room as last time, over.”
“Copy that. Over and out.”
The man packed his belongings into a leather satchel and hurried out of the quiet laboratory. Rushing up stairs and around corners, he arrived at the operating room and began setting up the necessary equipment as he struggled to catch his breath. This was so much easier when I was young, he thought to himself. Just as he positioned the final syringes, two men supporting a third between them burst through the heavy double doors with a loud bang.
Familiar with the routine, the pair lay the patient on the table as each secured a wrist and ankle cuff. The patient, whose metal nameplate read Daniels, did not resist.
Dr. Reynolds hastily pulled on gloves as he stepped beside the table to speak with the patient.
“I’m sorry this happened to you, Daniels. You’ve been of great service to our cause. I just want to make sure – you still want to go through with this? We can just end it now if you’ve changed your mind.”
Daniels gazed back at the doctor, beads of sweat already beginning to form on his pale forehead. “Yes,” he nodded. “I still want to. I’ve only ever wanted to help, in any way I can. I hope it works for you this time, and if not, well, maybe you’ll still get some useful data out of it.” He gave a weak smile and blinked back tears, as if trying to convince himself of his own statement.
Dr. Reynolds placed a gentle hand on the man’s shoulder. “I hope so too. I really do.”
Turning away, the doctor picked up the first of several syringes he had placed in two neat, even rows on the operating tray. One row was full of a milky liquid, while the other row of syringes lay completely empty. Addressing the two burly men who had brought Daniels in, Dr. Reynolds asked, “Where?”
“Stomach, sir,” one replied.
The doctor turned back to Daniels and lifted the hem of his blood-soaked shirt, revealing a ring of teeth marks on his lower abdomen. He inserted the needle into the center of the bite and injected the contents of the first syringe. Looking at his watch, he waited thirty seconds, then used an empty syringe to take a blood sample from the side of Daniels’ neck. Three more minutes of waiting to allow for further incubation. Inject at the site of infection. Another thirty seconds. Take a sample. He repeated the sequence until all syringes had been injected or contained a cerebral blood sample, labeled with small, neat handwriting.
Addressing Daniels directly, Dr Reynolds said, “Okay, that’s the last of them. I know you’ve seen this process happen to others before, but I’ll remind you of what to expect. It’s just a waiting game now, and if you start to show symptoms, it should be within the next few hours. If the treatment works – and I do hope it does – you should remain in control of your body. If not, well, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.” He gave Daniels a comforting smile, a final squeeze on the shoulder, and gathered up the blood samples. “Keep me updated with any changes,” he said to the guards, and hurried back down to the lab.
Once he reached the lab, Dr. Reynolds’ practiced hands created slides of the infected blood in a matter of seconds. He pulled out his binder of notes and began observing the samples under the microscope.
“Multicellular filamentous fungi present in all samples,” he muttered to himself as he excitedly recorded his observations. “But antifungal concoction seems to have made a small yet noticeable effect on subsequent samples.”
He continued to record his data until, about half an hour later, his walkie-talkie sprang to life again.
“Red Team 1 to Reynolds. Reynolds come in.”
Fearing (or rather, knowing) the worst, the doctor picked up the radio. “Go for Reynolds.”
“Daniels has progressed. You should come back up, over.”
Dr. Reynolds sat back in his chair and let out a defeated sigh. He wrote in his notes: Blood samples seem to indicate initial success, but subject still presents as symptomatic.
Back in the operating room, he didn’t need a microscope to know the treatment wasn’t strong enough. Daniels was rapidly declining; his entire body was covered in a sheen of sweat and, despite the strong cuffs, his right hand was twitching erratically.
The doctor crossed the room to the operating table and gazed sadly down at his patient.
“Hey Doc.” Daniels smiled weakly as his eye twitched. “Not in the cards for me, huh?”
Dr. Reynolds cleared his throat. “Well, as a positive, it looks like the treatment had some initial progress at the cellular level, but at the organismal level… we’re not quite there yet. I can give you a sedative to make this part more comfortable. Would you like that?”
Daniels stoically shook his head. “No, save it for someone who can put it to better use.”
The doctor gave a soft, sad, chuckle. “Always the valiant one, Daniels. Good man.” Turning to the two remaining members of Red Team 1, Dr. Reynolds said, “Please escort him to the Waiting Rooms.” The men gave a quick nod and wheeled the table back through the heavy double doors. Dr. Reynolds watched as they disappeared around a corner. Briefly losing himself in thought, his ponderings were once again interrupted by a call on his radio.
“Base to Dr. Reynolds. Dr. Reynolds come in.”
The doctor furrowed his brow. Base? They never call this late. Their usual administrative updates were never urgent enough to warrant a late-night page.
In his confusion, he managed to get out, “Uh, yes, go for Reynolds.”
“Doctor, report to headquarters ASAP. There’s someone here who needs to speak with you. It’s…  something you’ll want to hear, over.”
Taken aback by the strangeness of the request, the doctor simply replied, “Copy that, I’ll be there in ten, over.”
When he arrived at headquarters, he was quickly ushered into a small conference room. His colleagues sat on one side of the long wooden table, facing four armed guards. The researchers were all in various states of disarray, suggesting they had not been expecting this meeting either. Dr. Reynolds’ attention fell on the one person in the room he did not recognize; on the other side of the table sat a dirty, tired-looking woman whose cuffed hands lay flat on the table in front of her.
Dr. Reynolds took the empty seat opposite the stranger and asked, “What’s this all about?”
To his left sat Dr. Martha Simmons, one of the organization’s lead mycelium specialists with whom he regularly collaborated. “She showed up at the wall. Insisted she speak with all of us. Wouldn’t talk until you got here.”
One of the guards spoke up. “We found this on her.” He tossed a knife bearing a clearly recognizable Firefly insignia on the table. “Usually we wouldn’t bring one of her kind straight to HQ, but she insisted she had information critical to your research. Seemed pretty adamant about it.”
Dr. Reynolds thought for a moment, then, glancing briefly at his colleagues, addressed the stranger. “Well, I’m sure we’re all interested as to what information you might have. Please, go ahead.” He sat back in his chair and gestured for the woman to speak.
A string of words fell out of her as if they’d been rehearsed many times before. “My name is Arielle. I’m from the Boston QZ. I’m part of the Fireflies – well, was – I know you guys don’t take kindly to us. But most of us are gone now. FEDRA and other groups and all that. I left the QZ when it started to get bad – well, it was always bad, but, you know, bad bad.”
She realized she was rambling and cleared her throat. “Anyway… I headed south, hoping to find somewhere better. Tall order, I know. But the farther I went, the more I heard about some researchers still trying to fight this thing. Like, real scientists – not just wannabe, half-trained doctors like we had. Only these scientists hadn’t been having much success. People are saying you’ve been trying to come up with some kind of treatment from infected subjects or something.”
She held her hands up as if to say, No judgment. “I mean, I don’t know the first thing about mushrooms, so I’m sure you’re doing everything you can. But I figured, if a treatment isn’t working when it’s made from people where the fungus thing, like, completely takes over, then… what if it was made from someone where that didn’t happen?”
She looked expectantly at the scientists in front of her, as if she thought some collective moment of realization would ensue.
“Ma’am,” Dr. Reynolds started. “What you’re suggesting… It's a nice thought, but we as humans have never dealt with this particular mutation of this particular kind of microbe before. There’s no reason to believe that someone would be… or even could be…” Dr. Reynolds trailed off and threw his hands up in defeat, unsure of how to best let this woman know she was living in a land of delusion.
“No, no, listen to me,” she insisted. “I’m not – I’m not crazy. Listen, I have every reason to believe it. Seeing is believing, right? Well, I’ve seen it. With my own eyes. A couple years ago, there was this girl. She was bitten, but nothing happened. It just scabbed over. I’m telling you, I didn’t believe it at first either. But it’s real. She’s real.”
Dr. Reynolds sat forward with interest. Dr. Simmons shook her head in disbelief. “Ma’am, if that’s true, then you’re suggesting… what, exactly?”Arielle, visibly frustrated with the lack of immediate understanding, pressed her palms together in front of her chest and took a deep breath to collect herself. “I am… suggesting that this girl is immune. And I am telling you that I know where to look for her.”

okay as promised here is my cringe - mp100 x Black Rock Shooter AU
Tumblr media
little bit of explanation because BRS is criminally underrated and so nobody's gonna know what's going on if i don't:
There's the Real World and Other World. In the Other World are the Other Selves (on the bottom there) which are basically their real life counterparts hearts. So... if you get hurt emotionally in the real world, your Other Self fights it off in the Other World to lessen your pain.
Even shorter summary: if your friend calls you a bitch and you are sad, your other self fights your friends other self and if your other self wins, you aren't as sad. But if your other self loses, you are more sad.
Tumblr media
every other self has their own worlds...
and if an Other Self dies, then the pain they were fighting off gets forgotten by the Real Self.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this post is a mess but that's why it's cringe. anyways ID under cut for the images:
First Image:
A character lineup. On the top row is Ritsu, Reigen, Mob, and Teruki. Ritsu and Mob are wearing school uniforms that consist of a tie, a button up shirt, and a coat over the shirt. They are both wearing tennis shoes. Reigen looks the same as he does in the anime, and Teruki has his Season One look but his uniform is a little bit different. He has on a button up shirt, a loose tie, a vest, and then a coat over it.
The bottom row shows their 'other selves'. Ritsu's other self is "Silver Storm Breaker". He has gray skin and spiky hair that covers the right side of his face. He is wearing a cropped green hoodie with a large zipper and a teardrop shape on his right breast pocket. He is wearing black shorts and socks that have holes cut out for the heels and toes. On his arms are half sleeves that begin below the shoulder and end at the wrist. His eyes are green, and he is wielding a very large spoon. On his side is a small green pouch.
Reigen's other self is labelled "still figuring out a name for this fuck" with a few name ideas scribbled beside him: "gold something" "black gold claw" "gold claw champion". Reigen's other self has dark gray skin, a cold expression, and orange eyes and hair. He is wearing a white button up with black sleeves. It is buttoned up all the way. He's wearing a black and white striped vest over it, with two thin stripes on either side of the middle and one large stripe down the center. Where a tie should be there is a lock, vaguely shaped like a heart. His pants are striped black and white. His shoes are loafers with small orange heels. His left hand is a large mechanized claw with orange/gold accents. It has three prongs that end in sharp edges.
Mob's other self is called "Shigeo". He is a black, ominous, silhouette with blue eyes that are narrowed in disdain. his legs end in black wisps like flames instead of feet, and black energy simmers around his feet.
Teruki's other self is called "Perseverance". He has light gray skin and long flowing blonde hair that covers his eyes. He is wearing a black romper with shorts and a thick belt with a yellow ribbon around it. The front of the black romper has a yellow stripe up it and there is a golden sash/belt across his chest. On his back are mechanized bird's wings that are gray with golden yellow accents. The feathers are each attached by the ends to a sharp metal frame. The same goes for the tail feathers. Perseverance is not touching the ground.
SECOND IMAGE:
The Fortress (Shigeo's World). It is a large fortress with giant chains surrounding it with locks on them. The fortress walls are disturbed by giant, bent, silverware and a few statues of people, also twisted. The door is heavily locked and boarded up.
Below, labelled "Barrier/Prison", is an image of Shigeo sitting in the middle of a ton of multicoloured shields surrounding him.
THIRD IMAGE:
A comic. Mob has his hands together and looks nervous. He says: "Hanazawa... I'm sorry, I never really apologized for what I did to you... I- I really regre-"
Hanazawa cuts him off. "I'm sorry, I wish I could forgive you, but... I don't know what you're apologizing for..."
Mob looks up, surprised.
Hanazawa has a giant wig on, with the same bangs from his Season One hairstyle, and looks confused and concerned. "Have we... met before?"
In the background a decapitated and de-winged Perseverance is shown.
FOURTH IMAGE:
Reigen is hunched over under a streetlight, having just vomited. He groans. We see his face, drooling and eyes unfocused.
It cuts to Reigen's Other Self. He is being choked out by Shigeo, who at that moment snaps the Other Self's neck. Orange blood comes out of the other self's mouth and nose.
Back to Reigen, who is still hunched under the street lamp. The camera is zoomed out.
Reigen straightens up and wipes his mouth. "Huh? What was I doing?" He looks confused and dazed.
FIFTH IMAGE:
Reigen looks at Dimple. He says: "I'm sorry... but I don't know who this "Mob" kid is. I've never had a "student".

LITA Ep. 4 Rewatch Thoughts Pt. 1
Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6
Alright friends, we've finally made it to THEE episode! Definitely grab some water for this one, you're gonna need it.
Sang along to the intro's chorus and it's a banger as usual. The recap felt shorter this time, likely so they could get to the good stuff faster. My last post was super long so no need to go over content again here, but I'm glad they included my favorite shots of Phayu holding Rain in the recap as a little treat.
This episode opens with P'Saifah doing some accounts for the shop - always a good time to see him! I'm still so happy that he knew to call Phayu as soon as he saw Rain standing there all drenched and sad. I also love that he's already accepted Rain as Phayu's person (so cute!). Phayu says here that Rain hasn't eaten since yesterday, which implies his last meal was when they went out together. I'm not sure if there's a special meaning behind it, but it is interesting that they're having dinner together twice in a row under such different contexts. Since last time, we've learned that Phayu is emotionally invested in Rain beyond simple liking (as demonstrated by how he treated and cared for Rain during a vulnerable moment).
I continue to love how they namedrop P'Pakin without showing us who he is. I, for one, would really like to put a face to the name of the all-powerful big boss. Especially bc he's clearly a PhayuRain shipper like the rest of us (evidenced by him encouraging Phayu to bring his naughty boy to the next race). Yay P'Pakin!
Phayu's face goes through a series of microexpressions here which really cemented Boss' amazing acting skills. You can tell he considers taking Rain for all of one moment before he thinks it through and remembers that he's teaching Rain to be more responsible and that he can't distract him with illegal street racing. I picked this screenshot for the pretty lighting and the subtle furrowed-brow.
Tumblr media
Listen, I've said this 1000 times and I'll say it a 1000 times more before this set of posts is over. NOEUL IS TOO CUTE it's not fair no one should be this adorable when eating ramen
Tumblr media
Phayu will really take ANY excuse to touch Rain's lips, won't he. I think we're at 4 lip touches so far in the series? I'm loving the bisexual lighting in the background too. Stellar shot
Tumblr media
Ok if Phayu is Rain's codeline senior (shoutout to @atrioofinsomniacfoxes for telling me what this means), I'm sure he already has basic info like Rain's age in his permanent memory. Which means the line about him not dating underage people was either meant to reassure the audience he's got morals (which I don't think any of us ever doubted) or so he could get Rain to admit he wanted a kiss (which is mean bc then he withholds said kiss). Rain looks so smug here though when he helpfully reminds Phayu they already kissed
Tumblr media
This is so aesthetic to me. The light from above, the hand placement, the absolutely content look on Rain's face. All perfect. I also love how Phayu gently strokes Rain's face before moving in - again, these two do small gestures extremely well that makes the couple believable. The way Phayu has his eyes closed too makes me wonder if he actually wanted to kiss Rain here, but then decides in the end to hold back in order to not be a distraction to Rain.
Tumblr media
I can't get over how happy Rain looks to be where he is. I'm in unanimous agreement, Rain.
Tumblr media
But then poor bby, Phayu throws cold water in his face when he tells him Rain shouldn't come to the garage anymore. The quick mood change is masterfully sold by Noeul's brow-furrows and parted lips. I also like the frantic eye contact he makes with Phayu here.
Tumblr media
Rain's immediate reaction to Phayu telling him not to come is that he's sorry he's annoying. That's so sad, because it sounds like someone must have told him that in the past and it must have hurt quite badly for him to think that's the reason right away.
Tumblr media
I feel like Phayu thinks similarly, and is not a fan of Rain thinking this way because he turns his head and breaks eye contact. He only looks back when he starts explaining to Rain that no, it's not because he's annoyed or doesn't want Rain around, but it's just that he wants Rain to be more responsible. I really like how Phayu phrases things in this conversation because it shows how seriously he's taking Rain and their potential relationship. Very mature on Phayu's part.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then he immediately follows up this decree with a headpat/caress! He wants Rain to follow through on this relationship and he's relaying that through touch!! I found it very interesting that Phayu chose to drag his fingers along Rain's face instead of his hair, which is where he usually does it.
Tumblr media
And Rain, our impulsive and rather in-love son, immediately is like Mission Accepted ft. death-grip on Phayu number 5
Tumblr media
I couldn't get a clear shot of it, but Phayu's fingers appeared to twitch as he was pulling away from Rain, showing his reluctance to leave. Some very subtle but masterful acting from Boss (or maybe it's just that Noeul is like a Boss hand magnet so it was just nature running its course, or maybe it's both).
Finally we get the title of the episode, which is Warm Me with Your Heart. Well, I think Rain and Phayu warm up more than just their hearts in this one, just saying...
Fruity siblings alert! P' Som is actually a good brother and upperclassman for checking in on his sister's work and her friends.
Tumblr media
Leave him alone P' Som, he's going through Phayu-withdrawals. I really like how they styled Noeul's hair in this scene! The bangs are so pretty!
Thank you to P'Som for sharing this absolutely devastating burn. I'm going to use it on someone someday:
Tumblr media
Also life advice I really need to take LMAO I'm so bad at waking up on time:
Tumblr media
Wait something super yellow-blue is happening here but I'm not sure what it is... Ok so far we've had yellow blue primarily with scenes containing just Rain and Phayu in focus, but this is the first one I'm noticing where it's so apparent but Phayu isn't present. However, the blue in this scene (mostly P' Som's overshirt) is a lighter blue whereas Phayu's blue is more navy. Maybe by the end of this post series I'll have figured out what it means??
Wait the siblings do really be fruity - P' Som is wearing rainbow tie-die so true of him
I love how Rain has dropped his crush on Ple like a bag of potatoes. Boy simply does NOT care, and Sky notices within 0.2 seconds. He's a really perceptive friend for being able to tell Rain likes Phayu before Rain is willing to admit it, and that Rain's not upset over the teacher's remarks but for a different problem. He also tells Rain to look inside his heart (a.k.a. to be true to himself). Can anyone tell me what Rain's shirt says in this scene? Because now I'm seeing that it's dark blue and the text is literally right over his heart so it could be important.
Tumblr media
Sky immediately getting goosebumps after he was sensitive to his friend PLS Sky you don't have to pretend you're not the world's second biggest softie when it comes to Rain (beaten only by Phayu).
Ok this is cool - Rain's reflecting on his feelings while staring at his reflection in the phone screen, similar to how he was reflecting while looking at the mirror in the last episode!
Tumblr media
Then we get a montage of Rain working hard and looking rather forlorn. He does ignore Ple once more which is an indication to us that he's moved past that crush completely. I also like that they made Ple such a nice person without making her romantically like Rain. She's cool!
Also they used my single-braincell'ed other son, Sig, and his friend to show us something else yellow-blue. I can't not include this shot bc how the heck was Sig comfortably snoozing like this? I want a series about the adventures of Sig.
Tumblr media
After we see Rain working hard but still looking at his devoid-of-messages phone, we cut to an equally forlorn-looking Phayu. The man clearly wants to message Rain but is holding himself back. insert dreamy sigh (not even from me, Phayu literally sighs so hard right here that his coworker notices)
HE SAYS YET!! Y'all I can't get over how sure Phayu was that Rain was going to be responsible and then be his
Tumblr media
I find it interesting that everything the other person said was a problem in his relationship is what Phayu wanted Rain to say because it would have shown responsibility.
Tumblr media
I also like that when asked if they broke up, Phayu says it's not like that before deflecting. I always found it infuriating in dramas when people are like "I'm going to straight up reject you even though I like you for your own good". Here, Phayu didn't say they would never date, or even that he doesn't like Rain. He has made his interest abundantly clear and is just waiting for Rain to mature a bit. We love healthy communication and goal setting in this house!
Ok I'm going to say it again: I LOVE Sky as Rain's BFF. He is so perceptive and nonjudgmental and a great listener and I'm so happy we got to see his story in the latter part of the show.
Tumblr media
Oh sweetheart, do I have news for you...
Next we get cupid-Sky saying that he never meant it when he told Rain he's annoying, and that he rather likes this side of Rain. This one statement is enough to light a whole fire under Rain and our boy is back in business.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note to self: Can get friend-counseling services from Sky for ice cream (he looks so cute here like he knows he did a good job and also he's imagining how much trouble he just sent Phayu's way)
Tumblr media
In the next scene, we cut directly to Rain showing up at the garage all excited to work, and Phayu completely ignores him as he walks by. It must have taken every ounce of Phayu's strength to do that bc Rain is looking mighty adorable right here. Yay we see P'Aon and the other employee! I can't recall her name so I'll call her Khun Suay from now on. Neither of them want to disappoint Rain so they have to argue over who tells Rain he can't set foot in the office. Rain is undeterred though, our stubborn son. He's an engineer y'know - he can solve his own problems.
Tumblr media
I do love all the little details they put into this show - they just told us it was super hot outside but now we see it too with Rain's sweat.
Phayu, no longer able to tolerate seeing his boy toiling outdoors, comes to check in. Rain is here to complete his original plan of attack, which is to show up in front of Phayu every day until Phayu falls in love. But now he's also fulfilling Phayu's demands of being more responsible. Good for him.
The way they filmed Phayu here is interesting, bc he's on the far end of the screen rather than the middle. It could just be for some variance in shots, but it also does make it look like he's closer to Rain's side than he physically is.
Their convo can be summed up as follows:
Phayu: Why are you here? You should be studying.
Rain: I AM studying. Here.
Phayu: You're an eyesore (you should be inside somewhere safe and cool and away from my cracking self control).
Rain: But I wanted to see YOU.
Phayu: Ok nvm forget everything I said - how much work do you have and in what ways can I help without making it obvious I'm helping?
Rain's logic >>>>>>>>>>>
Tumblr media
Rain knows he's won ahhhh what a smug cutie!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To Rain's credit, he does get back to work as soon as Phayu leaves.
Ok we're not even halfway through this episode and I already hit the max number of images so there'll probably be three parts to this (sorry in advance but I don't think anyone's gonna complain about the copious screenshots to come of Those Scenes) (This author's note is coming after I finished all the parts - I was so wrong, there are now 5 parts and y'all can thank my lack of impulse control for that)

Chapter 22 - Part 2
Lest you've lost your way, click here to progress (regress?) back to Part 1.
Tumblr media
...Okay, now I'm officially worried.
Meanwhile, back in the Real World™️ (shout-out to my buddy @kantochampred!):
Tumblr media
Alright, I'm about to go off on a small side tangent here but I promise it's worth it-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Sorry to post your sins on main, Red 😔)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Why Do I Climb the Mountain? is a reference btw)
LMAO OKAY thank you for bearing with me, now back to the main show:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Good job, neither of those two things is correct!
...Okay, Cherrim has replaced Drifblim, yes, but. Imagine this tiny seed holding Teresa and Andrea by their little stubby hands while riding the wind down the mountain.
I had to look up a walkthrough to identify that little Riolu to the right. Normally, that's an Exeggcute! (And the backup for Team Frontier, apparently).
The Third Station Pass was dubbed Great Turn, while the clearing was called:
Tumblr media
Admittedly, I had no idea what an "oubliette" was, so I did a quick search and...
Wait a minute, are you freaking kidding me-
Tumblr media
WE ARE STARRING IN A WAR DRAMA AAAAAAAAAAAA-
(Apologies for the small text at the start, let me know if I need to add an image description!)
Tumblr media
...No >:l
The only reason I left this in is because this happened:
Tumblr media
Oh my God yes PLEASE-
So fun fact, I actually did a dry run of the first few dungeons before doing it for real and taking photos. And the first time around, this gift was an Escape Orb? Which isn't bad, but I would 100% take the Reviver Seed over that any day.
The 4th Station Pass was named Sad Peninsula. (Florida? Dat you?) And the 4th Station Clearing? See below.
Tumblr media
But then!
Tumblr media Tumblr media

I feel like a large, prehistoric rock dino should be enough to scare most things, but I guess taking the even larger rock snake as backup can't hurt.
So we go through the 5th Station Pass, Sandy Way... (Only one letter different from Sandy Bay.)

I. Don't remember why I took a picture of this. The downfalls of not immediately composing posts after the playthrough...
But yeah, those giant two-room dungeons with guaranteed MH's and a huge mass of enemies in the other room aside is definitely a theme and I hate it.

Andrea consumed enough Gummis to obtain this IQ skill, which is awesome since Max Elixirs are so hard to come by.

Look at this!! I'm pretty sure Blizzard only had 7 PP before! Yee haw!
Tumblr media
I wonder which Pokémon are the ones bothering Sneasel Pichu?
Tumblr media
OH NOOO!! I'm imagining this grisly scene where all these Combusken are just pecking Pichu to death.
Team Frontier happens to beat us to the punch:

I love that Onix is so big that she blocks Nidoran F.
Tumblr media
Like all territorial encroachments in Mystery Dungeon, everyone just jumps right into the fray without listening to anyone 🙄
Honestly, all of Team Frontier was pretty based. Jolteon had an ability that allowed him to attack twice in a row (I think because the weather was different?) and he consistently used X-Scissor. Nidoran F had Sesimic Toss (55 damage) and Ice Beam. Deoxys had Attack Order, Seed Flare, Rock Wrecker(!), and Swift, the last hitting for 120 damage on a critical. Combined with Teresa's Chatter (when we finally got there, because you start off a ways from everyone), they didn't stay up for much longer.
Also Jolteon shielded me when Teresa got low on HP 🥺️
Tumblr media
"SIT DOWN FOR TWO SECONDS AND LISTEN TO ME FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE, I SWEAR TO ARCEUS!"
Tumblr media
"We owe you..." -> Yet another line from this game that never made any sense to me. (Unless it was sarcasm ig?)
Tumblr media
💀You what
Tumblr media
Hey, speaking of... I know Onix is huge and all, but have y'all seen Pichu since the fight started...?

REQUESTS (OPEN)
MASTERLIST

Sandy lay back in her motel bed. It was dark by now, just the lights of the street lamps and cars passing by. She couldn't sleep.
She opened her door, and stepped out. She wasn't wearing shoes, which was probably a mistake, god knows what she could step on out here in the dark, but she didn't even think of it. She made sure she had her phone and room key in her pocket before she closed the door behind her, and went and sat down on the kurb beside her car, and looked up at the sky.
"Hey, Dad." She spoke under her breath. "I know Bradley talks to you all the time- but I don't. I'm sorry about that." She paused, suddenly feeling a pang of sadness that rang so deep, she thought it might kill her off. She took a deep breath. "It feels weird missing you- I'm missing something I never had... But Dad? I miss you. I miss you so much. My whole life I've been being told about you, stories, pictures. I feel like I know you and yet- we were never here together. Sometimes I think I should have become a pilot, just because then I might be closer to you, but- that's not really how it works is it? I hope you're up there. I hope you can hear me. I hope you know that there was no-one better you could have left behind for us than Uncle Pete. He's not perfect, but he cares. A lot..." She sighed. "Are you upset that he and Brad aren't talking? I am. They're all I've got without you and Mom. God... I wish you were here. I reckon you'd know how to straighten them out? I wish you were here for me. So I could be your little girl like I was supposed to. So you could sing that stupid song with me and Brad." She got too choked up to continue. She looked down through tears at her phone. She wiped her eyes and her finger hovered over her brother's name, then Maverick's. She didn't know that she wanted to talk to either if them. She'd have to open up to her brother one day- but tonight wasn't the night. Tomorrow was too big of a day for him and she didn't know that she even could do it tonight.
She turned off the phone and went back inside, but not before blowing two kisses up to the sky.
The next day, she got up and decided to do something she'd never even wanted to do before.
She got dressed, tied back her hair and wiped away the little bit of makeup she'd had on the day before but never taken off before she slept, and reapplied it, then got into her car and drove for about a half hour before she finally found what she was looking for.
She parked and stepped out and then walked along the isles and columns and rows to the right spot. She'd had the plot number memorised since she was a kid, but always refused to go. Even when they had intered their mother's ashes here- she had always felt bad about letting Bradley do that alone but she was just a kid and she couldn't face it.
She looked down at the little pale headstone, then her eyes began watering so badly that she couldn't read it. She looked over it and out to the sea before wiping her eyes.
This whole trip out to see her brother wasn't meant to be so emotional.
She sat down, cross-legged at the foot of the grave, placing the flowers that she had stopped to buy on the way, on top of it. This was the closest she was gonna get to her parents, and she felt so much like a kid in that moment.
'Nick 'Goose' Bradshaw 1962-1986'
She couldn't even read her Mom's name before she burst out into tears. Thank god no-one else was around, she didn't want to disturb anyone else- but then again, who would judge a woman for crying at her parents' grave?
Eventually she managed to collect herself, with her eyes and throat stinging and a shiver running through her, though it was hot. She looked back out at the sea. He died out there. She'd always been told it was quick- instant even, but who really knew that for sure. Someone had been with him at least- the same person who had always been there for her. That was a comfort- she and her Dad had one thing in common for sure- and that was Maverick.
They'd always called him that. Their Mom called him Pete more, but it was just force of habit for the kids. She was even used to hearing her Dad referred to by his call sign, didn't know either of their real names till she was about ten- but she'd just never got used to hearing 'Rooster' across a bar and connecting that with her brother.
She stayed there for a while, talked quietly to herself, her Mom and Dad, and eventually felt- better.
She lazed about on the beach most of the rest of the day, by the bar, which wasn't far from her motel- so she left her car there and walked over. When it opened in the early evening, she went in; wet hair, in her bikini- got plenty of stares, though there weren't many people, as she crossed to the toilets to change into a pair of shorts and a white t-shirt, something comfy and scruffy. She had brought a second tshirt to dry her hair off with, which worked just fine.
Then she just waited around until dusk hit. When it did, she let another hour pass before texting her brother.
'Hey you free?'
'Just got dismissed for the day'
'We're all heading for the showers'
'Why?'
'Can you come talk with me for a while?'
'I haven't seen you in ages and I'm heading home tomorrow- I just thought we could chat.'
'Yeah'
'Alright'
'I was gonna call you anyway'
'Where do you wanna meet?'
'I'm in the Hard Deck'
'Give me a half hour 👍'
She let herself relax. She'd built it up in her mind that she might not get to actually just see her brother- that was the whole point of this trip- taking a week off of work to drive out here (what with her preference for not flying) and such. God- she wished they were a bit closer again.
"Hey- Sands'!" She heard the door open and her name, which snapped her out of it.
She turned around and smiled. She was so relieved to see her brother.
"Hey hey." She spoke, maybe sounding a bit down, as Brad sat down beside her at the bar- wearing on of his classic Hawaiian shirts (one of their Dad's of course) and with his sunnies hanging from the neck of his vest.
"You good? Had to run last night and you didn't just launch into a full scale attack on me like usual?" He asked.
"Yeah- all good." She smiled. "How was the first day of training? Go well?" She moved the conversation on quickly.
"Uh- Well..." He trailed off and paused. "Our instructor- it's, uh-" He stumbled like he wasn't quite sure what to call him.
"Capitan Pete Mitchell. Call sign, Maverick." She stepped in for him, without missing a beat and very well versed in the drama of Navy introductions.
"Yeah- How the hell did you know?" Her brother nodded and raised his chin, looking down his nose at her suspiciously.
"Who else would spook you?" She asked, not willing to admit why she really knew.
"He didn't spook me-" He started to protest.
"Yeah alright. How did it go, anyway?" She stopped him, not wanting to get trivial.
"It was okay." He shrugged as Sandy passed him a bottle of some kinda beer.
"That's all you're gonna tell me?" She asked, in a way that said 'really?'
"He played the crazy card- as usual. Set a super low hard deck and had us dogfighting- day one." He shook his head and drank.
"Aren't you the best of the best?" Sandy asked in an exaggerated tone.
"Yeah?" He shrugged.
"Then don't talk like it was difficult." She said, in the kind of tone their Mom had when telling them off.
"But it was!" He spoke.
"He got you? Didn't he?" Sandy asked with a cocked eyebrow and teasing smile
"Yes but we're not gonna talk about it- he's still crazy- dangerous- and I'm still mad at him." Bradley shook his head, but let himself chuckle.
"Fine, okay." Sandy rolled her eyes.
"What have you been up to?" He asked and the question, as normal as it was, and as much as she should have expected it- took her off guard.
"Oh- umm..." She hesitated. "I went to see Mom and Dad." She spoke quietly.
"Oh-" He raised his eyebrows and took a deep breath. He was surprised by it. He knew very well the screaming and kicking fit she'd had when they'd tried to make her go as a kid- especially when they were trying to inter their mother. That wasn't a nice time in their lives.
"I thought it was about time, and I've been thinking about them a lot lately- Especially being out here." She spoke honestly, quietly and slowly.
"You were alright? Out there, on your own?" Bradley asked, remembering what she'd said about being in the house by herself- which he was gonna have to tackle next time he was home.
She nodded.
"Yeah- I think it was probably good for me." Sandy straightened her back up a little and shifted in her seat.
"Good- I'm glad." Her brother put a hand on her shoulder. Why was being emotionally open so awkward between them? They both hated it like that- and yet it didn't change.
"I was thinking- We're both older now, than he ever was..." She spoke, quietly, because she had to say it out loud but almost didn't want her brother to hear it. She didn't want to upset him, or herself. Bradley just nodded and drank once more.
"And- Look how much he achived in, what? Twenty four years?" She smiled.
"Yeah-" Bradley nodded.
"Became a pilot- made friends for life, met Mom- had you- made it to Top Gun, even managed to leave me behind as a spare-" She laughed. "That's a lot for twenty four!" She grinned, as did her brother. She sat back in her chair. "Makes me wonder where I went wrong really..." She rolled her eyes at own self pity.
"You haven't gone wrong Sands" Brad shook his head. "You're doing just fine."
"I don't know- I still work at the same dive bar I did when I was seventeen and I still live in the house I was born in." She gave an unsure smile. -"You've at least got all this pilot shit." She laughed and ran a hand through her still damp hair.
"Since when did you wanna settle?" Her brother teased. "My god- you haven't found someone have you? They've asked a big question and you got spooked? Cos if you have, the looks you were giving to my colleagues last night were both amoral and disgusting-" He poked fun.
"Oh my god- no!" She laughed. "I'm not that secretive! You'd know about anything like that! And I don't get spooked!" She shook her head. "No- I don't know really... I've just been thinking about Mom and Dad too much is all. I miss 'em." She shrugged.
"Yeah- So do I." Bradley nodded.
"Have you, been okay? Being here?" She asked. When he had first come, a couple years out of the academy, she knew he'd struggled a bit; not having been there since he was a kid and with what happened to their Dad- he had been nervous about it she could tell, though he didn't say anything.
"Uh- Yeah..." He nodded. "It's actually been, okay." He smiled. "It was nice having you here- actually."
"Really?" She questioned.
"Yeah. You didn't really get to visit much the first time round- and when you did I guess we didn't spend much time together." He nodded and drank.
"Yeah- I was too busy getting a reputation-" Sandy laughed and Bradley cut in.
"Which you haven't lived down by the way; I still get guys asking about my sister; 'Bunny'." He pulled a face of disgust.
"Yeah, I'm sorry about that- but what is with you guys and nicknames- God-" Sandy rolled her eyes.
"I don't know but- I really wish they could have called you anything else- I really hate it." Brad shook his head, trying to forget the awful nickname.
"Ditto-" She laughed heartily and then held her bottle aloft. "Look- Here's to Mom and Dad, the years they should have been here to be proud of you for being the best of the best- and the amount of awful boyfriends they should have been here to scare off for me-" She nodded.
"Ditto." Brad mirrored her and clinked their bottles together. They sat in quite for a moment, each drinking.
"For the record- I think I did a pretty good job of scaring off your boyfriends- even when I had to fly with 'em." He spoke cooly.
"And for the record- I'm very proud of you Bradley. I couldn't be more proud of you if I tried, and I only over hope you come home safe." She a wide smile and spoke seriously.
"Thanks Sandy." He gave her a hug.
"You're welcome- Rooster." She teased and he just rolled his eyes. Another moment of quiet ensued.
"And by the way... I just got good at sneaking them out." She broke the comfortable silence between them.
"Huh?" He seemed confused.
"I just used to have them climb out the window." She gave a cheesy grin.
"No-" Her brother looked at her with disbelief.
"Oh yeah- I had the whole exercise down to a T" She laughed.
"Really?" He hoped to god she was just taking the piss.
"You were- Well, still are, sometimes- such an idiot." She laughed at the look on his face as he shook his head.
They chatted a while longer, until Bradley decided he had to go, another long day ahead.
"Hey- Put your wallet away mister. This is on me." Sandy spoke with a smile, as they went to pay their tab.
"That's a first- So I won't argue." Brad put his hands up.
"Oh shut up- Let me be nice for once." She made a face at him.
They walked out of the bar and Bradley insisted on walking his sister to the motel- after all, it was well dark now.
It wasn't a long walk, and Sandy made sure to take as long as she could finding her key and unlocking the door, reluctant to part from her brother.
"You're leaving tomorrow? Yeah?" He asked as he stood behind her and she pushed the door open into the darkened room.
"Yeah- I'm supposed to be. I don't know, I might hang on for a day or two, go to Mom and Dad one more time." She spoke and her brother nodded, understanding.
"Alright." He spoke. Their goodbyes always managed to be pretty awkward too.
She almost turned to go inside when a thought occured to her.
"Hey- Bradley?" She stopped herself, frozen on the spot. "Umm- This mission you'll be going on at the end of this training..." She trailed off, trying to put her words together.
"Might be going on- Don't know who'll get picked yet-" He corrected her but nodded once. "Yeah?"
"I know they're all dangerous- but, this all seems to me to be adding up to something really bad..." She spoke apprehensively- willing him to tell her that wasn't the case at all and that it was all just a regular old top-up first aid training course or something.
"Uh-" Bradley hesitated for a moment. "Yeah," He nodded. "It's a big one, Sands, I won't lie to you." He said, a seriousness in his voice that was reserved for work talk and she rarely really heard.
"Well- You'll come home safe, won't you? You promise?" She asked, knowing he couldn't promise a god-damned thing.
He nodded and stepped forward, pulling her into a bear hug.
"Don't be a stranger Sandy." He spoke and she nodded as she wrapped her arms around him.
"I won't be."
With one last brotherly pat on the back, they parted, he waved goodbye and headed away, and Sandy shut the door behind her.
God knows she wasn't going to sleep well tonight. Too many things had haunted her today.

Hello! I read almost all your spn fictions on AO3 and I really find them great. I was a little sad reading your post you're not going to write about spn, at least for a while... maybe the boys are quiet, now, as they live together, at last! Anyhow, I'd like to wish you every luck for your novel; I'm sure you will be successful, as your style is original, fluid and fascinating. In another post, you tell about your own writing, the way you went on and on writing, even when you were not satisfied. I find it very encouraging, as I want to write about the boys, too. I watched all seasons in a row in 2023, and they literally saved my life. I came across AO3 by chance and all the great spn fiction writers and was amazed and grateful and a bit disheartened, as I'm not that good... and English is not my first language. Anyway, I'd like to write what these two brothers meant for me, and I'd like to thank you for your words about writing: I think you were replying to someone's question. Anyhow, I'll keep an eye on your AO3 account... just in case the boys will talk to you again! 😆❤️
hello! I am so sorry I meant to answer this weeks ago. rough times around here
this is so insanely kind, thank you. I'm glad you've been so inspired by my work and other spn writers, there are really so many incredible people writing for this fandom.
and! your english is great! with writing, everyone has to start somewhere, and I always encourage people to read a ton, figure out what it is you like about the style of the writers you enjoy, and just keep writing. it's a muscle you flex. you get into a rhythm, find your voice, find verbs you like, things you like to focus on. for a long time (and even now, sometimes) I couldn't read anything I'd written even a few months earlier because I thought it was terrible, because I was continuously improving. I think that's something that a lot of writers go through. even writers you think are better than you weren't born good, you know?
