I just watched episode 1 of Devil Judge and I am not dissapointed! 😊

The whole world and setting are very fascinating. That trial did look like a real TV show (something that doesn't seem so far fetched to be in our world, a bit like people online are already condemming other people really)

Oh man, that end scene with Kang Yo Hang yawning and THEN letting that one tear fall down his cheek..... 😮😮😮Yeah, he's not a good person at all......

Kim Ga On looks like a sweet little puppy at this point. A bit naive even? But he's also strong enough to ask questions and raise his concerns to Kang, I find that fascinating!

(Also, the moment where Kang pushes Kim against the bookcase and then takes a bit too long to remove his hand as he talks about Kim being single and mentioning his shirt..... That was INTENSE)

And yeah, I very much like the world they've set up. It feels quite like our own, but still different enough that you can accept if some things are a bit weird — like the Live Court Show. Because while I agree that, in many ways, it just feels like an extension of all the condemning we already do as a society, it IS still pretty farfetched. But, man, does it make for a fun plot!

Trying to figure out the puzzle that is Kang Yo Han was literally one of the most entertaining parts of the drama for me. Like, is he a villain? An anti-hero? Both? Neither? They keep you guessing, that's for sure and it was one hell of a ride, at least for me.

And, in a similar fashion, Ga On isn't quite as simple as he seems, either. While he's very kind-hearted and perhaps a little bit naïve at first, he is also very clever and strong-willed. And very determined to figure out what the heck Yo Han is up to. And I truly adore that about Ga On. It would have been so easy to make him into a soft, gentle, and ultimately rather weak character, but no. While he might cook you a five-course dinner one evening, he's still going to punch you in the face the following one, should you piss him off too much. I like that about him.

Aaaaaand yeah. The bookshelf.

Fun fact: when I started watching this drama, I knew absolutely nothing about it aside from having seen the poster. As in this one:

And, not going to lie, it gave me pause because, uh, guys. That's kinda gay.

But then I saw it was a Korean drama and went: "Oh, well, not gay then. But someone at the marketing department DEFINITELY had a fun day at work."

Point being, anyway, that I decided to watch The Devil Judge because I was looking for something that WASN'T gay. I'd been bingeing a lot of those shows and just wanted a bit of a reset. So I went: "Oh, hey, this Korean show about corruption in a dystopian society definitely won't be gay. Let's give that a try!"

The Devil Judge: "... so about that..."

And, like, I could explain away Yo Han's lack of respect for personal space during their first meeting as an intimidation thing, and all of their verbal arguments made sense due to their differences in morals etc. But then the bookshelf scene happened and I just sat there going:

"... hang on a fucking second. Am I watching a gay show?"

Spoiler alert: I was.

I mean, sure, it's not officially gay. But it definitely is gay all the same. The subtext is about as subtle as the sub himself — i.e. will punch you square in the face more than once, with little to no warning.

BUT YEAH. Enjoy the ride? But also — and I will not stop repeating this — you give me way, way too much power over your media intake, darling x'D And, as I've stated to my followers before:

With great power comes great responsibility and, when it comes to The Devil Judge, I’m about as responsible as Kang Yo Han. That’s to say, you’re all fucked.

Remus is their teacher becuase of ocurse Remus teaches. Remus thinks Cedric is very smart and very good for their boy, and he's happy.

He pushes himself back to the kitchens, the keycard burning a hole in his pocket. He’s torn, taking the offer or not letting Zemo use him again in the dark and ignoring him in public like a dirty secret. He’s not really torn, there was never a choice for him as soon as he’d caught those honey-gold eyes focusing in on him through the crowd of hangers-on. It’s a nice hotel, unsurprisingly, the door beeps green and Zemo’s waiting, watching, silent.

You know, I remember being 16 when S1 was airing and misunderstanding Adrien's character in that "obv Chat Noir is the Real Adrien™" way vs now when I finally like, get it.

Plagg did spell it out in Kuro Neko. Chat is what Adrien wants, who he wants to be, someone he sees as more infinitely interesting and appealing than himself. Cat Walker, just like "Adrien Agreste", is what Adrien thinks he needs to be.

The problem is that Adrien doesn't know who he is. Every decision he could have made was managed by his father, and when decisions on his own behalf present themselves, he doesn't know how to think about them properly, he acts on impulse and desire. When he feels like he has no desires, he doesn't know what to do.

Emily's influence seem to be the compassion, the sincerity, the way Adrien views the world. But his image of himself is split between all these different personas he carefully crafted to compartmentalize different aspects of himself.

Like, we're all waiting for those moments when Adrien's dorky Chat Noir side shines through, but so far the biggest difference between S1 and S5 is that Chat acts more like Adrien. Like what he's like with Plagg. And Chat is a huge awkward dork who wears his heart on his sleeve and who gets angry or annoyed easily and to whom loyalty and kindness and compassion come as easy as breathing. And Marinette falls for the same boy over again because she saw that in Adrien, and sees that side in Chat Noir.

I would love to see that same change happen to Adrien, now that he knows Marinette fell in love with Chat Noir. And (spoilers) it seems?? Like this is where it's going? That Kagami didn't realize it was Felix at ALL. That Marinette's first words to Felix-as-Adrien is that he's trying and that she's proud of him. Trying to assert himself and stand up to his father.

I am SO excited for your mom city fix it, it sounds absolutely perfect. One of the things I’m really excited for is to see Jamie’s interactions with the team during it - because I absolutely love the team dynamics on the show, especially when they involve Jamie in literally any way. And I always wished we got more of a team response to what Jamie went through with his dad (yes we get them finally realising what went on in 2x8, but I would have liked something where they had to actively be there for him), so yeah…I’m really looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

jamie + team interactions are one of the aspects of the fic that i'm also most excited for! i absolutely love what we got in the show, particularly in regards to sam and jamie's best friend-ism in the background, but. but! i was incredibly disappointed that mom city didn't give us scenes of the team supporting jamie because, like. babe was fully in a depressive episode and clearly some people were noticing but. nothing was done? and that felt... wrong! the show makes a point to depict the team as a family and yet. jamie felt so separate from the group in that ep (and i understand it was His Ep, but even so).

plus it would've tied in so well to your point about post-2x08! the confrontation between jamie and his dad was such a moment of isolation for jamie and we NEVER got to see the fall-out of that (beard after hours my BELOATHED), so mom city could've been the perfect follow up to that dropped thread! we deserved to see the team rallying around jamie and helping him feel safe when he was clearly spiraling over just the thought of seeing his dad. ugh. AUGH.

ANYWAYS... tl;dr: The Team Will Be Very Important In The Mom City Fix It (especially considering jamie's in an... even more mentally complicated place since james is dead).
